No way through. Police close off Barbourfields Stadium.

By Paul Nyathi| Heavily armed police and army on Saturday morning completely closed off access to Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo venue for the coronation of Ndebele king Prince Bulelani Lobengula Khumalo.

Hundreds of people who intended attending the ceremony were seen milling around the City Centre and suburbs surrounding the stadium out of sorts on what to do next.

The ceremony was called off by both government and the courts at the last minute on Friday on grounds that the coronation of the King is unconstitutional.

Several South African registered mini-buses carrying visitors to the ceremony were also spotted by ZimEye.com parked in the CBD with some of the people dosing off in the vehicles.

Chiefs from Matabeleland region yesterday threatened to go ahead with the coronation despite the court and government ruling.

As at the time of this article is was evident that the ceremony was not going to go ahead. Efforts to get a comment from the organisers were futile as they were all said to be in a meeting at a hotel where Prince Bulelani is accomodated.
