Two days later, the Zimbabwean government has finally passed a comment on Deputy Finance Minister, Terrence Mukupe’s statement in which he says that the army will block Nelson Chamisa from presidency.
Now somewhat add salt to water, the state media, ignoring the LIVE video which is on the ministers portal, made reference to this statement, saying it’s source is rather a newspaper report made in the independent media.
Mukupe, in the video is heard clearly stating that the army did not remove former president Robert Mugabe in order to hand over power to the young MDC leader. He made these comments while addressing a cell group in Mandara, Harare.
Said information Minister Khaya Moyo: “…such pronouncements have the negative effect of raising doubts on Government’s commitment to a free, fair and non-violent plebiscite as well as to its readiness to respect and uphold the will of the people of Zimbabwe as expressed through their electoral choices and decisions.”
He said campaigning candidates should stop dragging members of the security establishment into their political activities.
