By Paul Nyathi|Members of the Joice Mujuru led National People’s Party have sent an SOS claiming to have been caught up in massive electoral violence in Kuwadzana High Density suburb of Harare.
In a message circulated to ZimEye.com, the NPP members claim that their campaign team was on Wednesday rounded up and harassed by suspected MDC-T supporters who were on a campaign trail for one of their party primary election candidates.
“Our team in Kuwadzana East right now has been intimidated and has had stones thrown at them. The team says a group of MDCT youths have been tearing down and burning many MDCT rival’s posters with their president picture on them,” says the message.
The MDC-T people are also intimidating people going door to door to known mdc activists demanding them not to vote for the rival opponent in the upcoming primary election threatening to “shoot to kill”. If this goes unchecked , the times ahead will not be good for anyone,” reads the message.
The MDC-T is going through a tightly contested primary election in the constituency between party Deputy President Charlton Hwende and Shakie Mukoyi to contest the seat left vacant by party President Nelson Chamisa.
MDC-T activists have also circulated a social media post claiming that Mukoyi is driving around the constituency armed with an unlicensed smuggled fire arm threatening to kill Hwende.
“Shackie Mukoyi is moving around with a loaded unlicensed gun in a white Car. He is threatening to kill Hwende his rival in kuwadzana. The gun was smuggled from Messina from money he was given by a guy called Puzzo the owner of the house he is staying in malbereign,” reads the message.
ZimEye.com has not been able to reach Hwende for a comment on the developments.
