By Paul Nyathi|Unconfirmed media reports indicate that the army is holding on to a suspected bomb thrower from last Saturday incident at White City Stadium in Bulawayo.
The reports indicate that the suspect who is a middle aged man was picked up by the army in the course of the week following a tip off from members of the public.
According to the reports, the man was spotted throwing the object some thirty metres from the VIP stage as President Emmerson Mnangagwa was leaving the stage at the end of a ZANU PF rally.
The man was according to the informants was dressed in a yellow ZANU PF T-Shirt and fled from the scene immediately after throwing the suspected hand grenade.
At least 49 people were injured in the bomb blast including Vice President Kembo Mohadi and Minister Oppah Muchinguri who are currently in South Africa receiving treatment. Two security officers are confirmed to have died from the bombing while unofficial reports indicate that at least four people may have been killed.
Police officers in Bulawayo declined any knowledge of the arrest referring ZimEye.com to the national police spokesperson Charity Charamba who could not be reached for a comment.
