MDC-T Vice President Obert Gutu says he is a principled and self-respecting politician so much so that he cannot stand the “fakeness, chicanery, tomfoolery, buffoonery and wanton violence” within Nelson Chamisa’s MDC.

Gutu says: “I’m a principled and self-respecting professional and politician and I will never, ever sacrifice my beliefs and principles for hollow populism, fakeness, chicanery, tomfoolery, buffoonery, wanton violence and misguided ambition clothed with rampant corruption.

“I can bet you my bottom RTGS dollar that in the very unlikely event that these charlatans manage to cheat their way to State House at No.1 Chancellor Avenue in Harare, I will immediately relocate and go to live outside Zimbabwe. I just can’t stand them.”

This was after UK-based lawyer and political analyst Brighton Mutebuka had said Gutu’s career as a politician is over unless he re-traced his steps back to work with Chamisa.

Mutebuka had said: “At the height of the MDC-T power struggle to succeed the founding leader, I cautioned that Thokozani Khupe faced a real struggle for political relevance beyond that contestation given the path that she had taken.

“I argued that she could be legally correct but politically wrong, and that history would in time forget her immense contribution to opposition politics. I am afraid that time has arrived. The same fate applies to my respected brother Obert Gutu.

But Gutu begged to differ. He said: “It’s a pity that you’re out there in the UK and you seem not to be aware of the glaring fact that a charade of a “Congress” is apparently taking place elsewhere right now. Watch out for events that will be unfolding in the next few days.

“I have got nothing but utter contempt for their emptiness, fakeness, lack of vision, lack of mission, greed, malice, violence and corruption.

“And if you think that my political career is over, then you should closely watch out for events that will be taking place in the next few months. My learned friend, I’m still very much in the mix. Watch the space!” Gutu thundered.
