Since time immemorial Herbert Gomba has been accused of many things in his capacity as Cllr and of late as a Mayor. It must be put on record that these allegations are mere political shenanigans being alleged by political opponents hiding under the pretexts of dubious allegations that are fictitious, uninformed and to say the least baseless.

Politically he was chosen to be a Treasurer for Greater Harare in his party MDC and nothing under hand or below the cuff happened. He was resoundingly endorsed. Its therefore tomfoolery to suggest that the entirety of Harare and Chitungwiza were bribed to elevate him. To prove that the whole article is just a political high sounding nothing is the manner in which the Gweru congress and the August 16 demonstration are sneaked into the fray without evidence to sustain the allegations.

It must therefore be put on a record that Mayor Gomba doesn’t know anything about SMARTPRIDES and he hasn’t got any land from Clr Matinyanya in or around Mbare. It must be pointed for the benefit of those who doesn’t know that according to the ministerial directive (2002), clrs shall get one stand each at 40% discount and can also access a commercial stand at 100% payment. These are privileges known in local gvnt. The mayor is not conflicted in any way and he is aware that all these are just sideshows meant to distract him from delivering the SMART agenda for the people of Harare.
