The Government has reviewed the minimum salaries for domestic workers and the future looks bleak for housemaids and gardeners. Under the new proposal, a gardener will earn a minimum of 160 RTGS. This amount can hardly get you USD 10 on the parallel market. Housemaids are not faring any better as their minimum wage was pegged at RTGS 168.

Zimbabweans on social media were not too happy and blasted the government for setting low salaries that barely cover basic essentials.
