Farai Dziva|MDC Youth Assembly Secretary General, Gift Ostallos Siziba has described threats by the army to censor social media platforms as a direct violation of freedom of expression.

A senior army official recently said there was need to censor social media platforms to combat cyber crime.

Siziba said:

“We are surely opposed and vociferously against cyber policing and unwarranted monitoring of the citizens by uniformed forces in this country.

The Movement for Democratic Change is undoubtedly a party that believes in the constitutional rights and freedoms of speech and expression, especially in as much as the discourse of politics is involved.

These attempts must be stopped forthwith.”
