By A Correspondent- Fadzayi Mahere, a prominent Zimbabwean lawyer and politician has revealed that the country’s health delivery system has run out of COVID 19 testing kits.

Mahere said the information she was sharing had been received from an unidentified doctor who commented on the coronavirus testing situation at one of the major referral hospitals in Harare.

From the conversation that Mahere shared, she alleged that the Harare Hospital is saying the kit to run Covid’19 tests cost around 2k USD.

“Additionally, if you open it you will have to discard it because they are not reusable which is very costly.

It is said that last time they could not test a pregnant woman who was admitted to the ward because they wanted to wait for other samples so as to reduce the cost.

It seems that in the meantime there are no adequate  Coronavirus testing kits in hospitals and authorities have kept quiet about this.”
