By Own Correspondent| Opposition leader Thokozani Khupe on Saturday ran for dear life after she together with other party officials were chased away by the Harare Municipal Police in Kambuzuma Harare.
Khupe, reportedly left one of her shoes in the process after the municipal police details chased her while she was at one of her party members’ residence and 2018 aspiring councillor only identified as Mrs Masiiwa.
Said a source privy to the development who spoke to ZimEye:
“While running for dear life, Khupe dropped one of her red high heeled shoes before she reached the place where her car was parked.
Together with Douglas Mwonzora, they however proceeded to Chitungwiza, where they addressed another meeting of 13 people at Delma’s home.
The source alleged that Khupe and her team were however protected by the police.
Said the source:
“At Delma residency, 15 police officers could be seen driving around the area until after they (Khupe and her team) had finished their meeting and that is when the police drove off.”
Khupe and her team however continued and tried holding another meeting in Unit G, Seke but failed after residents protested the move citing COVID 19 fears.
“After their meeting at Delma’s place, they tried to have a review meeting at Mai Panganai’s house in Unit G around 6.15pm but the meeting failed after residents protested the move over COVID 19 fears.”
The development comes after the Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga last night told ZimEye that he is not aware of any police escort assigned for Khupe.
