MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere has said the recent move by the state to deny bail for the abducted and tortured MDC Alliance trio is a travesty of justice.

Speaking to ZimEye shortly after magistrate Bianca Makwande ruled that the girls be remanded in custody to June 26, Mahere revealed that the MDC Alliance trio have been denied food since their arrest on Friday.

She said:

“….no woman should be victimised simply for reporting injustices pepetrated at the hands of the state… the women are being victimised for speaking out… the police are supposed to protect its citizens not vice versa.. We will obviously appeal..

It is however disheartening that the girls have not been allowed access to food since Friday and they have not eaten anything… it is obvious that they are being victimised…”
