Vice President Constantino Chiwenga in his capacity as the Minister of Health and Child Care through Statutory Instrument (SI) 225A of 2020 banned the holding of by-elections citing the coronavirus.

The former army boss amended Covid-19 regulations ahead of by-elections scheduled for December 5.

Nomination court was due to sit on October 9.

Latest figures by Chiwenga’s Ministry indicate that the country has turned around a curve to worry so much about the virus.

As of 13 October 2020 the Ministry reported the country to be at 95% recovery rate with an average of less than 15 cases per day and all manageable as deaths have remained stagnant at around 230.

With these figures, shouldn’t Chiwenga reconsider his ban on by elections?
