Tinashe Sambiri|Five family members tested positive for Coronavirus in Rujeko Suburb Masvingo.

According to Ministry of Health and Child Care sources at Benjamin Burombo Building in Masvingo, the five are: the father who works at Flamboyant Hotel, the mother who works in an operating theatre at Masvingo Provincial Hospital, 2 Grade 7 children at Rujeko Primary School and another in a lower grade.

Commenting on the issue, former Masvingo Central MP Jeffryson Chitando said:

“The biggest question is the lack of enforcement of COVID-18 restrictions.

The level of poverty in the country is also affecting ordinary citizens so they cannot adhere to strict regulations.

There is free movement and face masks are at times not worn.

Some of the homemade face masks are substandard.

A face mask in local stores is going for US$3 which is beyond the reach of the majority.

The government is adamant that schools are safe and necessary precautions have been put in place to curb COVID -19 spread.

The government is failing to prove that our children are safe in schools.Do our schools have the necessary testing equipment?Teachers who are supposed to take care of pupils are not reporting for duty.”
