By A Correspondent| Young Human Rights Lawyer Freddy Masarirevu could not hide his joy after being honored with a human rights defenders award by Zimbabwe Community News.
Masarirevu is one of Young Human Rights Lawyers who did well in 2020.
Speaking to this publication, Masarirevu said the award warmed his heart and came at a time when most young people were afraid to get into activism
“It means a lot. It’s one of those recognitions that encourages one to do more because you feel very relevant.
“You know well that activism is something most youths are afraid to be involved in.
“This recognition will inspire others to also participate in activities that bring about positive change in our country.” said Masarirevu.
Masarirevu is also a gender activist as in 2020 he staged a march in Chitungwiza, raising various issues which include the abuse of women by those in positions of authority.
