By Leonard Koni| MDC-T President Douglas Mwonzora’s appetite for money rather than politics of saving the people from the sharp piercing jaws of Zanu PF will dearly cost him.
It is unfortunate that he is reading the Zimbabwean political book upside down and failing to take note of the current political mood on the ground.
Most Zimbabweans now liken him to the late Bishop Abel Muzorewa who was a bonafide sell out during the Ian Smith regime.
What Mr Douglas Mwonzora is failing to understand is that most ordinary Zimbabweans who are prospective voters, are not constitutional gurus and all what they want is a leader who is ready to take them to Cannan a promised land.
They trust a leader who does not dance to the tune of their oppressor.
Zimbabweans know the kind of the leader they want and trying to force them on someone else will not work. They have suffered a lot under Zanu PF government and they are looking for a leader who will bring them out of economic quagmire and political morass.
The social media is even rejecting him. Mwonzora continues to make some glaring blunders and recently he voted for Constitutional Amendment Bill 1 which gives powers to President Emmerson Mnangagwa to appoint and handpick his cronies as judges.
Mr Mwonzora was one of the architects who drafted the Constitution and inserted the provision for public interviews of judges.
He has traded strong politics of checks and blances with politics of the belly and bootlicking.
He wants to give executive powers to Mnangagwa to interfere in the smooth running of the judicial independence. He is trying to please his puppetry masters.
For the love of money Mr Douglas Mwonzora has decided to leave the people’s struggle which was started by the late political icon Mr Morgan Tsvangirai.
His attempt to meet the people of Kuwadzana Constituency last week hit a brickwall. This shows that Mwonzora has a lot to prove his political muscles to the country.
Only a few days, this Mwonzora said he had a large following and was questioning people on what yardstick are/were they using to arrive at a conclusion that has no followers.
Their failed trojan horse is failing to gain traction in the political ecosystem and that is why there is all this political grandstanding from the MDC-T leader.
The bridegroom is right at the door steps but the preparations to receive her are in shambles. Time is running out for this surrogate party to put its house in order.
Douglas Mwonzora is trying hard to push for a dialogue with President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Inviting him for a dialogue is like inviting an armature boozers football club to play a premiership game. There will be no competition at all.
Douglas Mwonzora is a shameless puppet who is being used the threat of recall to get “MDC-T Senators” to vote with government in the Senate in exchange for Zanu PF support to fight the MDC-A. He has sold out the legacy of the late Morgan Tsvangirai.
Whilst other countries are moving forward like Kenya and continue to progress as far as recruitment of judges including the Chief Justice is concerned, our country with the aid of Mwonzora is busy shredding the same constitution which he worked tirelessly to draft.
