A former senior official of the Zanu PF party, ex-Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi, has spoken out against the current administration’s efforts to delay elections until 2030, labeling the move as “sheer madness.”

Mzembi criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s approach, suggesting that it represents a drastic misstep in political judgment.

He highlighted the government’s apparent manipulation of opposition members from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), claiming that Mnangagwa has deceived them into supporting the election delay.

In a pointed declaration made on Thursday, Mzembi stated, “Political lunacy!” emphasizing his disdain for the proposed postponement.

His remarks underscore the prevailing tensions within Zimbabwe’s political landscape as the push for a delay raises concerns among political observers and citizens alike.
