A two-year-old Chipinge boy  Chris Bere who went missing has been found dead.

Chris Bere’s body was found in an advanced state of decomposition on top of a mountain near Mtikwanda Resettlement Area.

Chipinge District Criminal Investigations Department spokesperson Detective Assistant Inspector Daniel Mhini confirmed the discovery of Chris’ body.

“I can confirm that the body of Chris Bere who was reportedly missing last week was found dead on a mountain on Tuesday afternoon.

Detectives from the Homicide Department attended the scene and conveyed the body to Chipinge District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. Investigations are underway and no arrests have been made. Once we finish our investigations, we will furnish you with more details,” he said.

Neighbours said the boy’s paternal grandmother left him sleeping in the house on December 11 going to the fields around 3pm.

“When she initially checked on him, she saw him sleeping in the house, but during her second check, the boy was nowhere to be seen.

She began looking for him. Other villagers told her that they had spotted the boy walking towards the mountain. A search was conducted since December 11, but to no avail,” said a neighbour.

  1. Mwakaone ka 2 year old kachifamba kega kakanange kugomo musakabvunze kuti kaiendepi? With whom?

    Mibvunzo iripo yakawanda.
Family not suspecting foul play vanoziva zvakaitika!

  2. Really? No foul play? A two year old toddler WALKS to the TOP of a mountain a few miles away on his own? This story has changed somewhat. The grandmother initially said she met a man she knew, who had passed by the homestead and she asked him about the boy. Now there is no mention of the “man” or the dialogue. What if the man was returning from the same mountain in which the boy was later found? And in a RURAL community, NOBODY ignores an infant walking on his/her own, especially if he is headed in the wrong direction from the fields. Maybe he was looking for granma? But then his cries would have been heard by somebody, surely? How far away is the mountain to the point of people not hearing a child crying?

  3. This community lacks responsibility ,how can some of the villagers see a 2 year old walking towards a mountain and just ignore him. He was just a 2 year old for God’s sake . It’s just leaving the same 2 year old walking towards a fast flowing river. It’s insane. Children are a community’s responsibility. Rest in peace Son.
