By A Correspondent| Barely a few weeks after after hospitals endured one whole month of junior doctors’ protest, Zimbabwe nurses have announced that they are downing their tools next week.
The Zimbabwe Nurses Association (Zina) secretary-general Enock Dongo has reportedly confirmed that they will go on strike next week Monday after thr government failed to address their demands for better pay.
This also comes as their 14-day notice for strike has expired.
Dongo, speaking to the local Daily News, refused to comment any further, only saying, yes we are going on strike on Monday.
Nurses, had earlier on, appeared appeased by a March 30, 2018 collective bargaining agreement negotiated through the Health Service Biparte negotiation panel.
The agreement reached through the Health Service Biparte negotiation panel improved allowances for standby nurses stationed at rural health centres as well as introducing new allowances to nursing staff that acquire approved qualifications. There was also an introduction of an allowance to nurse managers on a non-claimable rate of $350-$450 per month.
