Farai Dziva|The MDC Youth Assembly says the harassment of civilians in urban areas by the country’s security forces is a calculated ploy meant to punish urbanites for supporting the opposition party.

ZRP cops and soldiers are tormenting civilians across the country during the 21- day lockdown.

“The violence and harassment of citizens by the uniformed forces during this lockdown period is worrisome.

In fact, it has confirmed our fears that that Emmerson Mnangagwa is going to use this period to escalate human rights abuses as a way of thwarting impending mass demonstrations.

The whole thing is calculated to punish urban dwellers for snubbing Zanu PF,” said MDC Youth Assembly spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma in an interview with ZimEye.com on Tuesday.
