Mnangagwa Boasts of Feeding Entire Nation in 2024 As Nation Burns

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa recently claimed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa successfully managed to feed the entire nation in 2024, despite numerous challenges.

This assertion, however, stands in stark contrast to the harsh realities faced by many Zimbabweans, who continue to grapple with economic hardship and daily struggles to meet basic needs.

Mutsvangwa made these remarks during a media briefing in Harare on Tuesday, where he outlined what he described as the government’s successful food relief programme.

He emphasized that President Mnangagwa had overcome “all odds” to ensure that every citizen was fed, despite the economic challenges the country is facing.

“Against all odds, President Mnangagwa has managed to feed the entire nation in 2024. This is contrary to claims of starvation and suffering of citizens.

The food relief programme has been a huge success,” Mutsvangwa said. He continued to praise the President’s efforts, referring to the assistance provided to vulnerable groups across the country.

Mutsvangwa’s comments, however, have been met with skepticism by many, as the economic situation in Zimbabwe remains dire.

Rising inflation, unemployment, and food insecurity continue to affect a large portion of the population.

Many citizens report that they are still struggling to access basic necessities, with food prices soaring and the cost of living escalating.

In his address, Mutsvangwa also took aim at critics of the government’s relief efforts, saying, “Naysayers have been put to shame. We thank the President for his resilience in the face of such challenges.”

However, opposition leaders and civil society groups have rejected Mutsvangwa’s claims, pointing out that while food aid may have reached some, large portions of the population remain unaddressed. These critics argue that the scale of the food crisis in Zimbabwe is far greater than the government admits, with the vast majority of citizens still experiencing food insecurity.

As the political rhetoric continues, many Zimbabweans are left wondering if the government’s promises can match the lived reality of a nation still struggling to recover from years of economic decline.

Parliament Is Hell Under Mnangagwa Regime, Opposition MP Reveals

By Honourable Johnson Matambo MP Kuwadzana West

The effectiveness of Parliamentarians in Zimbabwe after the new dispensation has been a subject of debate.

While the current administration promised a break from the past, the reality on the ground tells a different story.

Challenges and Limitations

One of the major challenges facing Parliamentarians is the lack of meaningful reforms.

Despite promises of change, the ruling party has maintained a tight grip on power, limiting the ability of Parliamentarians to hold the executive accountable.

The delay in passing the Constitutional Amendment Bill (Number 2) is a case in point. This bill aimed to give credence to the establishment of provincial councils, a key aspect of the devolution agenda. However, its delay has stalled government efforts to implement this agenda.²

Human Rights Abuses

Furthermore, human rights abuses have continued unabated under the new dispensation. Parliamentarians have failed to effectively address these issues, with many critics arguing that they have been co-opted by the ruling party.

The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum has documented numerous cases of human rights abuses, including police brutality, forced disappearances, and restrictions on freedom of assembly and expression.

Role of Parliamentarians

Despite these challenges, Parliamentarians can still play a crucial role in promoting accountability and good governance. They can do this by:

  • Holding the Executive Accountable: Parliamentarians must assert their oversight role and hold the executive accountable for its actions.
  • Promoting Human Rights: They must prioritize human rights and take steps to address the ongoing abuses.
  • Supporting Devolution: Parliamentarians should support the devolution agenda and ensure that it is implemented in a meaningful way.

Ultimately, the effectiveness of Parliamentarians in Zimbabwe will depend on their ability to assert their independence and promote the interests of their constituents. (Meta on the Effectiveness of the roles of Parliamentarians after the New Dispensation)

People Want Mnangagwa to Stay Beyond 2028: Mutsvangwa

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa has claimed that the people of Zimbabwe want President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2028.

Speaking to the media in Harare on Tuesday, Mutsvangwa argued that citizens have the right to call for Mnangagwa to extend his presidency beyond the constitutionally mandated two terms.

Mnangagwa is currently serving his second and final term according to Zimbabwe’s constitution, but Mutsvangwa insisted that many Zimbabweans, particularly Zanu PF supporters, want him to continue leading beyond 2028.

“Yes, we are aware that the President respects the constitution,” Mutsvangwa said. “President Mnangagwa has already stated that he will not seek a third term. However, let me make it clear—the people have the right to urge him to stay in office. We are witnessing the great work he is doing.”

Mutsvangwa added, “The fact is, citizens have already expressed their desire for the President to stay beyond 2028.”

JUST IN…..Sbusiso Lawrence Dies

KwaZulu-Natal -The body of Sbusiso Lawrence, who confessed to killing his girlfriend in a social media video, was found hanging from a tree in the Malangeni area of Umzinto, on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.

On Tuesday, police responded to reports of a murder in Umzinto where the body of a 25-year-old woman was discovered in the middle of the road with multiple stab wounds.

Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says, “Reports indicate that the suspect fetched the woman, who was his girlfriend, from her home and it is suspected that the two had a domestic-related altercation which escalated to the murder.”
“The suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned down the road from where the woman’s body was found, and blood on the front passenger seat suggested that the suspect killed the woman inside his vehicle. A manhunt was quickly launched and an intensive search by police led to the discovery of the suspect’s body which was hanging on a tree, in what is believed to be a suicide. Police are investigating a case of murder and an inquest docket will also be opened for further investigation,” adds Netshiunda.

Mnangagwa Aide Blocks Gaffa Crossover Show

By Showbiz Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s business partner, Kudakwashe Tagwirei, controversially blocked Winky D’s annual New Year’s Eve show at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).

The move has reignited suspicions of Zanu PF’s discomfort with the musician’s socially conscious lyrics, often challenging the ruling party’s governance.

For years, Winky D, affectionately known as “Gaffa,” has hosted his iconic crossover event at the HICC, using the platform to launch new albums.

However, this year, Tagwirei’s Bridging Gaps Foundation secured the venue for a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church event, sidelining the artist.

Reports reveal the foundation paid the Rainbow Tourism Group a staggering $245,000, which included booking 200 rooms for five days.

Sources close to the deal allege that Rainbow approached Tagwirei to fill the slot after deeming Winky D’s revenue-sharing agreement financially unviable.

This arrangement has fueled speculation of political interference, with Rainbow partially owned by the state and Tagwirei’s ties to Mnangagwa deepening public mistrust.

Winky D’s legal representatives, Tsunga Law International, disclosed that the venue had been reserved since May 2024, with preparations already underway.

Despite this, Rainbow opted to prioritize another event.

The decision has sparked outrage among fans, who accuse Rainbow and Tagwirei of orchestrating a political ploy to silence the artist.

Known for his hard-hitting critiques of corruption, inequality, and oppression, Winky D has long been a thorn in Zanu PF’s side.

His music has faced censorship before, including a ZBC blacklist, and his latest album, Eureka Eureka, drew sharp rebukes from ruling party officials for its potent social commentary.

As uncertainty looms over Winky D’s plans for New Year’s Eve, fans are rallying behind the artist, viewing the move as yet another attempt to stifle artistic freedom in Zimbabwe.

Speculation is rife that Winky D may announce an alternative venue, continuing his tradition of using music as a platform for resistance.

Zimbabwe Launches New Carbon Market Framework to Tackle Climate Change

Harare, Zimbabwe — In a bold step toward combating climate change and fostering sustainable development, Zimbabwe has officially launched a comprehensive carbon market framework. The initiative, unveiled at a high-profile event at the COP29 climate conference in Balu Azerbaijan, aims to position the country as a leader in carbon market development while advancing national commitments under the Paris Agreement.

The new framework, developed in collaboration with international environmental experts and local stakeholders, provides a regulated platform for the development and trade of Article 6 compliant carbon credits.

Building on the experience of other early movers like Ghana, Zimbabwe’s framework includes several first of their kind innovations including:

  • A blockchain based national carbon registry: designed to support seamless digital transactions within a secure digital ecosystem.
  • Strict environmental and social safeguards: ensuring that all carbon projects make meaningful contributions to sustainable development and do not come at the expense of the wellbeing of local communities and the natural environment.
  • Strengthened legal protections: securing the rights of investors and local communities.
  • An improved regulatory framework: designed to provide clear guidelines for public and private sector participation, while providing all projects a clear pathway to Article 6 eligibility.

The framework introduces clear guidelines for verifying, registering, and trading carbon credits, ensuring transparency and alignment with international standards. Clear guidelines not only guide investors through the project development process, but streamline the steps needed for end users to purchase and use Article 6 eligible credits.

In addition to requiring all project developers to increase their investment in community development, the government has pledged to allocate the majority of all carbon market proceeds to the National Climate Fund (NCF) to finance national climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives.

The framework comes at a crucial moment, paving the way for existing projects to transition to Article 6 eligibility. By generating Article 6 eligible credits, local developers will not only be able to achieve higher profits but will be able to access new markets including CORSIA and national compliance markets abroad.

With this framework, Zimbabwe joins a growing list of African nations leveraging carbon markets to address climate change while creating economic opportunities. The country’s abundant natural resources and commitment to sustainability make it well-positioned to become a key player in the global carbon trading ecosystem. Environmentalists and economists alike have welcomed the initiative, noting its potential to balance environmental concerns with economic development.

The carbon market is expected to commence operations in 2024, with pilot projects already underway. Experts believe this could unlock millions of dollars in green investments while reinforcing Zimbabwe’s role in the fight against global climate change.

By A Correspondent| UFIC church pastor and E-Ways Freight (pvt) Ltd director Kudakwashe Zvinokora has appeared in court on allegations of defrauding the late ZAOGA Ezekiel Guti’s nephew Pheim Guti of his US$20000 in a botched minerals deal.

Zvinokora and his company, E-Ways Freight (pvt) Limited who were jointly charged when they appeared before a Harare magistrate and were granted free bail.

He was represented by Tafadzwa Byron Muvhami.

Zvinokora’s company E-Ways Freight(pvt) Limited is a duly registered company in the business of mining, buying and selling minerals in Zimbabwe and exporting to other countries.

lt is the State’s case that sometime in August 2024 complainant was looking for a business to invest in.

Coup Suspicions Mount As Chiwenga Loyalists Snub Mnangagwa’s Cabinet Meetings

By Political Reporter-Power struggles within the government have reached a boiling point, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa publicly expressing frustration over the conduct of some ministers and deputy ministers under his administration.

The growing tensions hint at deeper cracks in his relationship with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, fueling speculation of a potential coup orchestrated by loyalists aligned with Chiwenga.

During the last 2024 cabinet meeting held at State House, Mnangagwa lambasted absenteeism among senior government officials, describing the behaviour as “untenable” and a dereliction of duty.

“Let me, however, hasten to emphasise that Cabinet processes are anchored on the timely submission of vital documents and regular attendance by Ministers and officials,” Mnangagwa stated. “The worrisome tendency by Ministers and senior officials to absent themselves from meetings is untenable. Permanent Secretaries should ensure that in their absence, only directors and above should attend working party meetings.”

The president’s remarks come amidst increasing reports of cabinet ministers allegedly loyal to Chiwenga snubbing key meetings, undermining Mnangagwa’s authority.

Speculation suggests that these absences are part of a coordinated effort to challenge Mnangagwa’s leadership ahead of Zanu PF’s next elective congress.

Mnangagwa directed Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Martin Rushwaya, to tighten monitoring of ministerial attendance starting in 2025.

He warned that ministers and senior officials who fail to comply risk “dire consequences.”

The president also criticised deputy ministers, accusing them of being poorly prepared and undermining his authority by failing to participate effectively in government operations.

“In cases where Deputy Ministers are assigned, they should be adequately capacitated to enable active participation in the requisite deliberations. To this end, I direct that Deputy Ministers must now sign performance contracts in 2025,” Mnangagwa announced.

These measures follow Mnangagwa’s earlier introduction of performance contracts for senior government officials as part of his Vision 2030 agenda to foster a culture of accountability and servant leadership.

Mnangagwa and Chiwenga have shared a tumultuous political relationship since the military-assisted transition that brought Mnangagwa to power in 2017.

Chiwenga, who played a pivotal role in that transition, has grown increasingly influential, with his allies occupying key government and security positions.

Observers note that Chiwenga’s loyalists have become emboldened, with their defiance of Mnangagwa’s directives interpreted as challenging his grip on power.

The president’s remarks about errant ministers could be seen as a veiled warning to Chiwenga and his faction.

Zanu PF In Another Urgent Meeting

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF has announced a sudden Politburo meeting scheduled for tomorrow, fueling speculation about the deepening factionalism and power struggles within the ruling party.

The meeting, described as the final Politburo session for the year, has no stated agenda.

Party Secretary for Information and Publicity Christopher Mutsvangwa confirmed the development, emphasizing the urgency of the gathering.

“Acting Secretary-General of Zanu PF, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, is advising all members of the Politburo that the meeting is on Thursday, 19 December, at 2 PM at Zanu PF Headquarters,” said Mutsvangwa.

He further instructed all members to be seated by 1:45 PM.

The sudden call for this meeting follows months of escalating tensions within Zanu PF.

Factions aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga have been vying for control, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and speculation about the party’s future direction.

Analysts believe this meeting could be a stage for last-minute manoeuvring as key players position themselves ahead of next year’s political calendar.

Accident: Motorcyclist Dies in Tragic Collision with Donkey-Drawn Cart

By A Correspondent | Zhombe, Zimbabwe – A 34-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Anymore Sunday, tragically lost his life in a head-on collision with a donkey-drawn cart on Friday night along B-Mine Road in Village Mahlangu, under Chief Samambwa’s jurisdiction.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 PM, according to Midlands Province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, who confirmed the fatal accident.

Details of the Accident

Preliminary investigations revealed that both the motorcycle and the donkey-drawn cart were speeding at the time of the collision. The cart, which lacked proper illumination or warning signals, became a hazard in the dark.

Mr. Sunday, who was riding home, suffered serious head injuries as a result of the impact and died at the scene near Mlondiwa Homestead.

Adding to the tragedy, the individuals operating the donkey-drawn cart fled the scene, leaving the cart and animals behind. Police are currently searching for the individuals responsible for the cart.

“The people who were driving the scotch cart disappeared from the scene, leaving the cart and the animals,” said Inspector Mahoko.

The Growing Danger of Donkey-Cart Accidents

Donkey-drawn carts are a common mode of transport in rural areas but pose significant risks when operated unsafely or without proper precautions, especially at night.

Rising cases of collisions involving motorcycles and animal-drawn carts highlight the need for greater safety awareness on rural roads.

Tips to Avoid Accidents with Donkey-Drawn Carts

Motorists, motorcyclists, and cart operators can take precautionary steps to avoid accidents:

For Motorcyclists and Drivers:

1. Reduce Speed at Night: Always slow down on rural roads, especially where animals or carts might be present.

2. Use Proper Lighting: Ensure headlights are bright and functional to illuminate hazards ahead.

3. Be Alert for Slow-Moving Vehicles: Donkey-drawn carts are common in rural areas and may appear suddenly.

4. Stay in Control: Avoid excessive speed to ensure you can react quickly to unexpected obstacles.

5. Wear Protective Gear: Helmets can reduce the severity of injuries in the event of an accident.

For Donkey-Cart Operators:

1. Avoid Traveling at Night: Carts are hard to see in low light conditions and pose significant hazards.

2. Use Reflective Materials: Attach reflectors or bright cloth to the cart and animals to improve visibility.

3. Signal Caution: If traveling at night is unavoidable, carry lanterns or torches to alert approaching traffic.

4. Control Speed: Keep animals at a safe, manageable pace to avoid sudden movements.

5. Follow Road Rules: Operate the cart responsibly and ensure it remains on the correct side of the road.

Calls for Action

Local authorities and safety advocates are urging for increased awareness campaigns targeting rural road users. Inspector Mahoko emphasized the need for mutual responsibility among road users to prevent such tragedies.

This accident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by unregulated animal-drawn carts and speeding vehicles, particularly on poorly lit rural roads.

Ongoing Investigation

Police continue to investigate the accident and are actively seeking the individuals responsible for the donkey cart.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as authorities work to improve road safety and prevent similar incidents.

ZBC “Trashes ” Mutsvangwa Remarks On Mugabe

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), which is under the control of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration, has publicly praised the late Robert Mugabe and Joshua Nkomo for their pivotal roles in establishing the Unity Accord in 1987.

On Monday, ZBC reported that the Unity Accord, which marked a significant political milestone 37 years ago, was lauded for its contributions to inclusive development across Zimbabwe. The report highlighted how the Accord, underpinned by the philosophy of the Second Republic, “leaves no one and no place behind.”

“The 1987 Unity Accord has been hailed for propelling inclusive development across the country, buttressed by the Second Republic’s philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind,” the ZBC broadcast noted.

The historic agreement between Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe, leader of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU), and Dr. Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo, leader of the Zimbabwe African People’s Union (ZAPU), resulted in a strong alliance. This alliance, according to the ZBC, has become “the bedrock for defeating neo-imperialists under ZANU PF.”

Hwange Woman Jailed Over US$10,000 While Bigger Offenders Walk Free

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Hwange, Zimbabwe – The sentencing of Patricia Dube, a 39-year-old Hwange woman, to an effective 12-month jail term for misappropriating US$10,000 entrusted to her by her neighbor, has reignited debates about the fairness of the judicial system in Zimbabwe. While Dube’s case highlights the importance of trust and accountability, comparisons with high-profile cases involving millions of dollars have raised questions about consistency in sentencing.

Dube, convicted by Hwange magistrate Ms Fungai Dzimiri for theft of trust property, must restitute US$9,969 to the complainant Sympathy Moyo by 30 January 2025, failing which she risks serving an additional 18 months in jail. The strict punishment has drawn comparisons to recent cases where individuals who misappropriated significantly larger sums were not subjected to custodial sentences.

Case Comparisons: Double Standards in Sentencing?

1. The NSSA Scandal (2019): Misappropriation of US$95 Million

In one of Zimbabwe’s largest financial scandals, the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) lost US$95 million through fraudulent investments and misuse of funds. Despite the scale of the financial loss and its devastating impact on pensioners, several implicated officials were either fined, suspended, or simply relieved of their duties, with no significant custodial sentences issued.

The former NSSA board chairperson faced corruption charges but secured bail and, ultimately, avoided long-term incarceration. The disparity between the treatment of Dube—who mishandled a relatively smaller amount—and NSSA officials has left the public questioning the equality of justice.

2. The ZINARA Fraud Case (2020): US$3 Million Misused

The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) was embroiled in a scandal involving the misuse of US$3 million meant for infrastructure projects. The funds were siphoned through inflated contracts, ghost companies, and improper procurement practices. Key individuals implicated in the ZINARA scandal faced court trials, but most of them received non-custodial sentences, such as fines and community service.

Critics argue that ZINARA officials’ lenient treatment reflects systemic favoritism, contrasting sharply with Dube’s harsh 12-month jail term for US$10,000.

3. The Harare City Council Scandal (2022): US$1 Million Stolen

In 2022, Harare City Council officials were accused of misappropriating over US$1 million through unauthorized allowances, fuel abuse, and dubious tenders. Despite the scale of the offense, the accused officials avoided jail time, instead receiving fines or being dismissed from their positions.

The contrast between Dube’s custodial sentence and the outcomes of the council scandal has intensified public frustration, with many Zimbabweans questioning whether ordinary citizens are held to a different standard than those in influential positions.

A Closer Look at Dube’s Sentence

While Dube undeniably betrayed the trust placed in her, her sentencing to jail raises broader questions about proportional justice. Critics argue that her punishment—despite involving a relatively small amount—was disproportionately severe compared to the leniency shown to individuals accused of looting millions.

Ministers Bunk Cabinet As Mbudzi Is Renamed Mnangagwa-Trabablas

Chaos Unfolds as President Mnangagwa Criticizes Cabinet Absenteeism Amid Renaming Controversy

By Dorrothy Moyo | Harare, Zimbabwe – In a tense conclusion to the year, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has slammed Cabinet Ministers for failing to attend critical government meetings while presiding over the controversial renaming of the Mbudzi Interchange to “Trabablas Interchange,” a nickname often associated with the President himself.

The renaming, announced during a Cabinet press briefing, was intended to honor Mnangagwa’s “visionary leadership.” However, the event has been overshadowed by growing irony and chaos after revelations that many Cabinet members have been skipping meetings—a situation Mnangagwa deems unacceptable.

President’s Rebuke

During the final Cabinet meeting of 2024, Mnangagwa issued a stern warning, calling out “errant” ministers and senior government officials for their consistent absenteeism. He described their absence as “tantamount to dereliction of duty,” warning of “dire consequences” in 2025 if attendance does not improve.

“Cabinet processes are anchored on the timely submission of vital documents and regular attendance by Ministers and officials. The worrisome tendency to absent themselves is untenable,” Mnangagwa declared.

The Chief Secretary, Dr. Martin Rushwaya, has been tasked with closely monitoring attendance, signaling a stricter regime moving forward. Mnangagwa emphasized that Cabinet meetings must take precedence over all other responsibilities.

Trabablas Interchange Controversy

The renaming of Mbudzi Interchange to “Trabablas Interchange,” intended as a tribute to the President, has stirred significant public debate. Critics, including former Minister Walter Mzembi, ridiculed the move, calling it a sycophantic gesture and proposing satirical alternatives such as “Musoro Wambuya Vako Interchange,” a colloquial insult.

Mzembi’s viral post highlights the growing public frustration with government priorities amid Zimbabwe’s economic challenges and the misalignment of leadership focus.

Mixed Public Reaction

Public opinion on the renaming remains polarized:

Supporters view the renaming as a symbolic gesture recognizing Mnangagwa’s infrastructure efforts.

Critics argue that it reflects misplaced priorities and underscores a disconnect between leadership and public sentiment.

The controversy, combined with the President’s rebuke of his own Cabinet, has sparked a chaotic end to the political year, raising questions about the government’s ability to balance optics with governance.

Performance Contracts and Accountability

Mnangagwa’s administration introduced performance contracts for Cabinet Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and parastatal heads to improve efficiency and service delivery. Despite this, absenteeism has remained a recurring issue. Moving forward, Deputy Ministers will also sign performance contracts, ensuring greater accountability.

The President’s stern address signals a renewed push for discipline and leadership responsibility in 2025 as Zimbabwe continues to pursue Vision 2030—its ambitious plan for economic growth and transformation.

What’s Next?

As the political storm surrounding Trabablas Interchange and Cabinet absenteeism continues, all eyes are on the government’s ability to restore confidence and deliver meaningful progress in the coming year.

Residents can expect relief from the rainfall, but should remain cautious of potential flooding and disruptions. Stay tuned for further updates from the MSD.

President Boko Denies Receiving Cattle from Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent

Botswana’s President, Duma Boko, has firmly denied claims that he was gifted 10 Ankole cattle by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa during a recent SADC summit in Harare.

The rumor, which surfaced through Tuesday Grill, suggested that the cattle were given to Boko as a congratulatory gesture for his historic general election victory. However, in a statement issued on December 17, Emang Mutapati, the Press Secretary to President Boko, refuted these claims as “baseless and unfounded.”

Mutapati’s statement emphasized: “The Office of the President categorically refutes false allegations that President Duma Boko has received any breed of cows or similar gifts from His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the Republic of Zimbabwe.”

The statement further clarified that President Boko has no involvement in farming activities, stating, “President Boko has never been involved in farming, either as a cattle rancher or in any other manner.”

The press release described the rumors as “a deliberate act of propaganda designed to mislead the public, detract from the critical work of the administration, and tarnish the strong diplomatic relations between Botswana and Zimbabwe.” Mutapati called on the public to disregard the allegations and stated, “We urge the public to dismiss these misleading allegations with the contempt they deserve.”

In addition, the statement called on the Botswana Editors Forum to protect the public from those spreading misinformation, saying, “We call on the leadership of the Botswana Editors Forum to protect the public from rogue elements who masquerade as journalists while engaging in deliberate misinformation campaigns.”

The statement concluded by reaffirming that the diplomatic relationship between Presidents Boko and Mnangagwa remains focused on “strengthening cooperation and fostering mutual development between the two nations.”

Sbusiso’s posts also included images and videos of her lifeless body, further intensifying public outrage.

Controversy Over Masvingo Headman’s Death

By A Correspondent

A devastating bus accident on the Harare-Bulawayo Highway has claimed the life of Headman Muchibwa-Nyajena, Maduveko Manyise (45), leaving Masvingo Province in mourning.

Manyise, who was installed as headman in March, was among seven passengers who died instantly when an InterAfrica bus collided with a stationary truck near Dabuka on Sunday.

*A Life of Service and Faith*

Manyise’s brother, Dr. Maseko Manyise, remembered him as an exceptional communicator, problem-solver and sociable individual who impacted lives through sound advice and inspiration. A devoted member of the Mutendi-Zion Christian Church (ZCC), Manyise was also a minister in the church.

*A Distinguished Career*

Manyise, a radiographer by profession, worked at Fort Street Medical and Dental Surgery in Bulawayo. His educational journey began at Chiwawa Primary School and continued at Nyajena Primary School and Nyabata High School. He joined the Army in 1998, serving in the DRC war from 1999-2000, where he trained as a radiographer. Tropical Cyclone Chido Arrives in Masvingo with Minimal Impact, Authorities Stay on Alert

By A Correspondent

Tropical Cyclone Chido, which had been eagerly anticipated, made landfall in Masvingo on Tuesday afternoon. However, contrary to predictions of heavy rainfall, the cyclone only brought light showers lasting less than 30 minutes, offering residents a sense of relief.

Earlier warnings from government officials had suggested that Masvingo could experience intense rainfall and potential flooding, prompting local authorities to heighten preparedness efforts. Meteorologists and local officials issued advisories urging caution and preparedness in anticipation of the storm. Despite the cyclone’s mild impact, officials remain cautious and continue to monitor the situation.

“We are still monitoring the situation. We can’t afford to relax at this juncture,” a government source at Benjamin Burombo Building in Masvingo told ZimEye.com on Tuesday.

The source also emphasized that the cyclone’s path could change, with further updates expected should weather conditions worsen.

While some residents expressed relief that the storm had not caused the expected damage, others remained on alert, aware of the unpredictable nature of cyclonic weather patterns. Emergency teams and local authorities are maintaining vigilance as the cyclone’s remnants continue to move across the country.

Mnangagwa Praises Mugabe Over Unity Accord

Chido Brings Hope

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwe is expected to receive significant rainfall this week as Cyclone Chido, now downgraded to a tropical depression, makes its impact felt. According to the Meteorological Services Department (MSD), remnants of Cyclone Chido will bring accumulations of up to 30-50mm in some regions.

MSD Head of Forecast, James Ngoma, confirmed that Cyclone Chido made landfall in northern Mozambique near Pemba and drifted southwards, losing intensity. “By this morning, it was in southern Malawi, and its strength continued to diminish as it traversed northern Mozambique.”

Ngoma predicted light showers in eastern Zimbabwe, with moderate downpours expected in northern Mashonaland East, Manicaland and parts of Mashonaland Central. Matabeleland North and South are expected to experience thundershowers.

Residents can expect relief from the rainfall, but should remain cautious of potential flooding and disruptions. Stay tuned for further updates from the MSD.

ZESA Witches Off State House

By Political Reporter- Harare was plunged into darkness Monday night as a widespread power blackout engulfed the Central Business District (CBD), including critical government facilities such as State House, Zimbabwe House, and the President’s Office.

The unannounced power cut, lasting over two hours, has highlighted Zimbabwe’s worsening energy crisis and its far-reaching consequences.

The outage, which struck at 10 p.m., left the capital eerily silent and shrouded in inky blackness, with faint glimmers of light from generators and solar installations punctuating the city’s skyline.

Landmarks like the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe building became shadowy silhouettes, while lifeless streets and blacked-out traffic lights revealed the city’s vulnerability to its collapsing infrastructure.

This latest blackout comes on the heels of an embarrassing power failure at the New Parliament Building in Mt. Hampden last month, where President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s budget speech was interrupted.

Instead of holding the government accountable, Parliament issued an apology to Mnangagwa, sparking public criticism and questions about misplaced priorities.

Zimbabwe’s energy crisis has become a national emergency, costing the economy an estimated US$1.6 billion annually and reducing GDP by 6.1%, according to the World Bank.

The country’s main power plants—Hwange Thermal Power Station and the Kariba Hydroelectric Plant—are crumbling under the weight of outdated infrastructure.

Kariba, with an installed capacity of 1,050 MW, now contributes a meager 200 MW due to low water levels, while Hwange remains plagued by frequent breakdowns despite expansions.

Experts warn that without urgent action, Zimbabwe’s energy woes will worsen, leaving citizens and businesses to endure more frequent and prolonged outages.

Proposed solutions include modernizing infrastructure, incentivizing independent power producers, and aggressively investing in renewable energy such as solar.

However, progress has been slow, and festive season blackouts threaten to compound the struggles of an already burdened population.

Walter Magaya Slapped With ZIFA Exclusion Application

By Sports Reporter | Harare, Zimbabwe — A formal objection has been raised against the nomination of Walter Magaya for the presidency of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA). The objection, submitted to the ZIFA Electoral Committee and Ethics and Integrity Committee Chairperson, cites multiple criminal, civil, and disciplinary allegations that question Magaya’s ethical, legal, and financial suitability for the role.

Criminal Matters: Pending and Past Cases

The letter highlights a series of unresolved criminal charges and past convictions that could potentially disqualify Mr. Magaya. These include:

1. Pending Criminal Charges: Walter Magaya faces charges under Section 81 of the Income Tax Act for alleged tax violations. The matter, State v Walter Magaya (CRB1848/19), is scheduled for hearing at the Rotten Row Magistrates Court on 21 January 2024.

2. Asset Forfeiture Investigation: In the case State v Walter Magaya (PP’s Ref 1193/22), financial mismanagement and potential illicit activities are under scrutiny by the Asset Forfeiture Department.

3. Conviction Under Medicines Control Act: Magaya, through his company Magaya Aretha Medical Private Limited, was convicted and fined US$700 for promoting a false “cure” for HIV and AIDS. This act was deemed unethical and dangerous to public health.

Civil Matters: Financial Instability and Property Seizure

The objection also outlines civil cases that question Magaya’s financial stability and capacity to lead ZIFA responsibly:

In the case Get Bucks Microfinance Bank Ltd v Walter Magaya (HCHC657/24), the High Court ordered the sale of Magaya’s property on 9 October 2024 to settle a significant debt of US$420,140.72.

This ruling underscores his inability to meet financial obligations, a critical concern for someone vying to manage ZIFA’s finances and affairs.

FIFA Disciplinary Sanction: Yadah Football Club

Further complicating Magaya’s candidacy is a disciplinary sanction imposed by FIFA on 6 August 2024.

FIFA banned Yadah Football Club, owned and chaired by Magaya, from registering international players due to violations of FIFA club licensing rules.

The objection emphasizes that, as owner and leader of Yadah FC, Magaya bears ultimate responsibility for governance lapses. The precedent of FIFA holding leaders accountable for ethical breaches, as seen in the Samson Siasia case, has been cited to stress Magaya’s ethical shortcomings.

Implications for ZIFA Leadership

The objection raises concerns about Magaya’s integrity, financial management, and accountability—critical traits required for ZIFA’s top leadership role. The letter suggests that his history of legal troubles and FIFA sanctions reflects poorly on his ability to restore credibility to the country’s football administration.

What’s Next?

The ZIFA Ethics and Integrity Committee is expected to assess the merit of these objections before determining whether Walter Magaya’s candidacy will proceed. Football stakeholders and fans alike will be watching closely as this controversy unfolds, given ZIFA’s ongoing efforts to clean up its image and improve governance.

Reporter’s Note

Walter Magaya, a prominent businessman and football club owner, has yet to comment on the allegations. The developments surrounding his candidacy will likely spark debates over ethics, governance, and the future of Zimbabwean football.

This is a developing story. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.

Botswana Refutes Mnangagwa Cattle Gift Allegations

Gaborone-The government of Botswana has dismissed reports circulating on online news platforms and social media alleging that Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa gifted 10 cattle to the President of Botswana, Duma Boko, during a recent official visit.

President Mnangagwa recently visited Botswana as the rotational chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to inspect the regional bloc’s headquarters and assess new projects proposed under SADC’s agenda.

The visit, hosted by President Boko, was part of routine diplomatic engagements.

Rumours of the cattle gift emerged shortly after the visit, prompting the Office of the President of Botswana to issue a strongly-worded statement through Press Secretary Emang Mutapati, unequivocally denying the claims.

Mutapati stated:

“The Office of the President categorically refutes false allegations that President Duma Boko has received any breed of cows or similar gifts from His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the Republic of Zimbabwe. President Boko has never been involved in farming, either as a cattle rancher or in any other capacity.”

Describing the claims as baseless propaganda, Mutapati emphasised that they were designed to mislead the public, disrupt the government’s work, and undermine the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.

She further called on media institutions, particularly the Botswana Editors Forum, to guard against misinformation and hold rogue elements accountable.

Mutapati concluded by reaffirming the professional and developmental focus of the relationship between the two presidents:

“The relationship between President Boko and President Mnangagwa remains diplomatic, focused solely on strengthening cooperation and fostering mutual development between the two nations.”

The statement serves as a reminder of the importance of accurate reporting in safeguarding the integrity of both nations and their leaders.

Guardiola Concedes Manchester City in Turmoil

Sports Correspondent

Manchester City’s woes deepened as they suffered a stunning 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. The loss marked City’s eighth in eleven games, leaving them in fifth place and nine points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola acknowledged the severity of the situation, stating: “Something is wrong, and I’m the one responsible. I’m the boss, and I need to find a solution.”

Despite taking the lead through Joško Gvardiol’s goal, City conceded two late goals to Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo. Guardiola’s frustration was palpable, as he admitted: “I’m not good enough. It’s as simple as that.”

With City’s title hopes dwindling, Guardiola must rally his troops to arrest the slump and revive their season.

Harare Says Lake Chivero Contamination Report Exaggerated

The City of Harare said that reports of contamination at Lake Chivero are exaggerated, despite confirmation from the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) that several animals, including four rhinos, three zebras, four wildebeests, four fish eagles, as well as multiple goats and cattle, have died after drinking water from the lake.I

n a statement issued on Monday, the City of Harare said a stakeholder meeting had been convened, bringing together council experts and representatives from other government agencies to address the reports of animal deaths linked to alleged contamination.

The council also said that further investigations will be conducted, and a joint statement from the City of Harare and the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) will be issued in due course.

“Teams are already on the ground to take samples on the particular part of the lake the rhinos drink from. Animals are territorial and it appears they drink from the same place.

Residents are urged to ignore exaggerated social media and media reports that the whole lake has been contaminated,” CoH said.

Earlier, Zimparks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo said that the deaths were caused by contamination from cyanobacteria in the lake’s water.

Be Responsible On The Road

Road safety is not just a matter of government policy or law enforcement; it is a collective responsibility that falls on every individual. While authorities play a crucial role in setting rules, providing infrastructure, and enforcing traffic laws, the safety of our roads depends on how each of us behaves behind the wheel or as a pedestrian.

It’s easy to assume that road safety is solely the responsibility of lawmakers and authorities, but the reality is that every person who uses the road contributes to creating a safer or more dangerous environment. Drivers, passengers, cyclists, and even pedestrians all have a part to play in ensuring that our roads remain safe for everyone.

The Importance of Safe Driving

One of the most significant contributors to road safety is the way we drive. Speeding, distracted driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs are all actions that put not only the driver but also other road users at serious risk. Being aware of road conditions, following traffic signals, wearing seat belts, and respecting speed limits are some of the simplest yet most effective ways to avoid accidents.

Driving safely involves more than just adhering to the law—it means being conscious of other drivers and pedestrians, maintaining a safe distance, and reacting calmly in emergency situations. The decision to drive responsibly can prevent countless accidents and save lives.

Pedestrians and Cyclists: Sharing the Road

Road safety isn’t just about cars. Pedestrians and cyclists also need to be vigilant and responsible. Pedestrians should use crosswalks, avoid jaywalking, and stay alert when walking near busy streets. Similarly, cyclists must wear helmets, signal their turns, and follow traffic rules to minimize the risk of accidents.

Everyone, regardless of how they travel, plays a part in maintaining road safety. Drivers must be aware of pedestrians and cyclists, while pedestrians and cyclists should respect the rules designed to protect them.

A Culture of Responsibility

Building a culture of road safety starts with individuals taking responsibility for their actions. Whether you are driving, cycling, or walking, your behavior on the road can have a direct impact on others. Everyone should recognize that safety is not just a matter of personal well-being but also the well-being of everyone else on the road.

Conclusion

Road safety is not only about laws and regulations; it is about creating a culture where everyone takes responsibility for their actions. To ensure that roads are safe for everyone, we must all participate—drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and law enforcement. The message is simple: Drive safely, save lives. Let’s make road safety a shared priority for all.

Cyclone Chido Hits Masvingo

By A Correspondent

Tropical Cyclone Chido, which had been the subject of widespread anticipation, made its arrival in Masvingo on Tuesday afternoon.

However, instead of the predicted torrential rains, the cyclone only brought light showers that lasted for less than 30 minutes, leaving residents somewhat relieved.

Government officials had previously warned that Masvingo could face intense rainfall and possible flooding, prompting heightened preparedness in the region. Local authorities, including meteorologists, had issued advisories urging people to take precautions. Despite the cyclone’s weak impact in the area, officials remained cautious and continued to monitor the situation closely.

“We are still monitoring the situation. We can’t afford to relax at this juncture,” a government source at Benjamin Burombo Building in Masvingo stated in an interview with ZimEye.com on Tuesday.

The source emphasized that the cyclone’s trajectory could change and that further updates would be provided if the weather conditions worsened.

Residents in Masvingo expressed mixed reactions, with some relieved that the storm did not bring the expected devastation, while others remained on alert, mindful of the unpredictable nature of cyclonic weather systems in the region. We Are Transforming Your Lives, Claims Mnangagwa’s Personal Friend Owen Ncube

By A Correspondent

Owen Mudha Ncube, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in the Midlands Province, has claimed that the new dispensation under President Emmerson Mnangagwa is working tirelessly to improve the lives of Zimbabwean citizens.

Speaking at the recent commissioning of the Gweru Provincial Hospital’s ZERA LED Retrofit Project, Ncube welcomed the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Hon. Edgar Moyo, and other distinguished guests to the Midlands Province, highlighting the importance of the project.

“It is an honor and privilege for me to warmly welcome our Guest of Honour, the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Hon. Edgar Moyo, and all invited guests to the Midlands Province on this auspicious occasion of the commissioning of the Gweru Provincial Hospital LED Retrofit Project,” Ncube said.

He noted that the commissioning of the LED Retrofit Project marks a significant step towards promoting energy efficiency and adopting alternative energy technologies, aligning with the broader goals of modernization and industrialization under the government’s Vision 2030. Ncube highlighted that this vision aims to achieve an upper-middle-income society by 2030, as outlined by President Mnangagwa.

“Hon Minister, I am pleased to note that following my launch of this LED retrofitting project on the 21st of October 2024, ZERA moved with speed to complete the project in a record 3 months. This attests to ZERA’s adherence to the Second Republic’s work ethics of timely and results-oriented implementation of programs and projects, in line with the goal of achieving universal access to sustainable energy before 2030,” Ncube remarked.

The Minister further commended ZERA for decentralizing its operations to the Midlands Province to ensure that no one and no place is left behind in efforts to transform communities and grow the economy. He also praised ZERA for establishing an electric car charging point at the Petro-trade Fuel Service Station in Gweru, aligning with the country’s goal to embrace global energy trends.

“Honourable Minister, energy efficiency is our low-hanging fruit that creates excess power for the productive sectors of our economy, such as mining, agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and tourism, which are crucial for GDP growth in the Midlands Province,” Ncube said. He also highlighted the importance of the province’s abundant lithium deposits, which contribute to the energy value chain through value addition and beneficiation.

Ncube commended the Ministry of Energy and Power Development for advancing energy access in the Midlands Province, citing the successful connection of 957 public institutions through the Rural Electrification Fund (REA). Additionally, Ncube praised REA’s efforts in promoting alternative energy technologies, including the deployment of 66 solar mini-grids, 47 solar units, and 16 biogas digesters in the province.

“As part of our commitment to transforming the livelihoods of communities, we continue to focus on ensuring access to quality and affordable social services, such as health, education, and rural development,” Ncube noted.

He also lauded the groundbreaking construction of a USD 1 billion, 720-megawatt coal thermal power plant by Titan New Energy in partnership with ZESA, which is expected to eliminate load shedding in Zimbabwe.

In conclusion, Ncube urged Gweru General Hospital and all stakeholders present to actively participate in energy efficiency initiatives and safeguard the investments being made. He expressed gratitude to ZERA’s Board, management, and staff for successfully lighting up Gweru Provincial Hospital.

“With these few remarks, I heartily welcome our Guest of Honour and everyone here present. Enjoy our warm hospitality,” Ncube concluded.

Drama As Police Officers Bash Anti- Corruption Commission Officials

The two officers have been charged with obstructing justice and assault.

Zanu PF Varakashi Threaten Mphoko Family for Blocking Burial at National Heroes Acre

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF hardliners, known as Varakashi, have issued a stern threat to the family of the late former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko after they blocked his burial at the National Heroes Acre.

Mphoko, who passed away recently, was laid to rest in Bulawayo over the weekend rather than at the national shrine in Harare, a decision that has sparked controversy.

On Monday, Varakashi, who are aligned with the Operation Restore Legacy movement, voiced their disapproval in a statement.

They warned that relatives of national heroes who refuse to have their loved ones buried at the National Heroes Acre should also forgo the benefits that come with such status.

“Relatives of deceased national heroes who decide that their departed National hero or heroine relatives should not be buried at the national shrine, must also decline the attendant benefits that come with the status,” the Varakashi said in a statement.

The statement reflects the hardline stance of some Zanu PF factions, emphasizing that the National Heroes Acre is a symbol of national pride and unity, and that the decision to bury Mphoko elsewhere was seen as a snub to the country’s history and its heroes.

The family’s choice to bury Mphoko in Bulawayo has, therefore, led to a growing rift between the Varakashi and the Mphoko family.

Mnangagwa Lists Commissioning of Dam as Greatest Achievement in 2024

By A Correspondent

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has highlighted the commissioning of the Holy-Cross Dam in Chirumhanzu as one of his greatest achievements in 2024. This announcement came as part of a broader reflection on his leadership and the accomplishments of the Second Republic, which he credits for a series of transformative projects across Zimbabwe.

In a statement on Monday, Zanu PF loyalist Tinotenda Nyamandu praised Mnangagwa for being a leader who “walks the talk.” Nyamandu emphasized that unlike some leaders who make empty promises, Mnangagwa has consistently delivered on his commitments since assuming office.

“We need leaders who walk the talk, and President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is a shining example of that. Unlike some leaders who make empty promises, President Mnangagwa has been delivering on his commitments since taking office,” Nyamandu stated.

The Holy-Cross Dam, which Mnangagwa officially commissioned in Chirumhanzu, has been described as a key driver for rural industrialization and agro-innovation. According to Nyamandu, the dam marks a “game-changer” for the region, contributing to both the agricultural sector and the broader rural economy.

In addition to the dam, the Second Republic under Mnangagwa’s leadership has initiated several other notable projects:

Rural Industrialization: The Holy-Cross Dam is part of a larger effort to drive rural industrialization, with an emphasis on using local resources to boost agro-industries.

Education Reform: Mnangagwa launched the Heritage-Based Education 5.0 initiative, aimed at modernizing Zimbabwe’s education system while preserving African cultural heritage.

Infrastructure Development: The administration has focused heavily on improving the nation’s infrastructure, including the commissioning of the Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe road, a vital link for improving transportation and trade.

Economic Empowerment: The government has launched various economic development projects, including the establishment of rural industrial parks, aimed at empowering local communities and driving economic growth.

These projects, as outlined by Nyamandu, illustrate the administration’s focus on improving the country’s rural areas, education system, and infrastructure. According to Nyamandu, Mnangagwa’s achievements demonstrate that “he’s definitely a leader who delivers on his promises.”

The commissioning of the Holy-Cross Dam is viewed as a crucial milestone for Mnangagwa’s administration, underscoring his ongoing efforts to improve Zimbabwe’s economic and social landscape.

Chinopfukutwa, who is a programmes lawyer with Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), was presented with the LSZ’s prestigious award at the lawyers’ regulatory body’s annual Walter Kamba Rule of Law Lecture and Awards Dinner held in Harare on Friday 13 December 2024.

In honouring Chinopfukutwa, LSZ said the legal practitioner had demonstrated a desire to work for the promotion and protection of human rights in the country.

The LSZ’s Walter Kamba Young Human Rights Lawyer Award is sponsored by Scanlen and Holderness Legal Practitioners and targets junior to mid-career lawyers under the age of 35.

The award seeks to promote human rights litigation, advocacy and a human rights culture among
young lawyers and recognise young lawyers, who are working to achieve better human rights outcomes in the country.

Coup Fears As Mnangagwa Chairs Final Cabinet Meeting

By Political Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa Tuesday chaired his last Cabinet meeting for 2024, ahead of his annual leave set to begin in January 2025.

Information Ministry spokesperson Nick Mangwana made this announcement via X (formerly Twitter):

“Today, His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa @edmnangagwa is chairing the final meeting of the 2024 Cabinet Calendar Year, at State House in Harare.”

Murwira and Ziyambi

Mangwana did not disclose the exact start date of Mnangagwa’s leave.

Mnangagwa’s approach to his annual holiday contrasts his predecessor, the late Robert Mugabe, who routinely spent his holidays in Singapore.

The late great leader would religiously leave governance entirely in the hands of his deputies during his vacation.

Mnangagwa, however, has consistently opted to remain in the country since taking office after the 2017 coup he engineered and ousted Mugabe.

Even during his leave, Mnangagwa has been seen engaging in official duties—a sign, critics allege, of his lingering insecurity about stepping away from the reins of power.

The rivalry between Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, has fueled speculation about the President’s cautious behaviour.

Chiwenga, the former army general who led the 2017 coup, has been widely perceived as harbouring presidential ambitions.

Reports of internal Zanu PF power struggles and factionalism have only heightened fears of another coup.

While Mnangagwa enjoys control over the ruling party’s machinery, Chiwenga’s military connections remain a source of tension.

Mnangagwa’s reluctance to leave the country for extended periods reflects his awareness of these underlying threats.

Zimbabwe’s political history is rife with coups and political manoeuvring.

Mugabe himself maintained an iron grip on the military to prevent threats to his rule, a lesson Mnangagwa seems to have taken to heart.

Analysts argue that Mnangagwa’s insistence on staying within the country, even during personal time, is a calculated move to mitigate the risks of a potential power grab.

48-Hour Ultimatum To Harare, EMA To Address Lake Chivero Disaster

By A Correspondent| Environmental and water rights campaigners have given a 48-hour ultimatum to City of Harare (CoH), the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council (UMSCC) to immediately stop endangering the lives of people and animals through decontaminating Lake Chivero and stop the discharge of raw sewage effluent into the capital city’s primary water source.

The ultimatum is contained in letters written and dispatched to CoH, EMA and UMSCC on Monday 16 December 2024 by Harare Wetlands Trust (HWT), which is represented by Tinashe Chinopfukutwa and Kelvin Kabaya of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

In the letters, HWT said it had learnt about the contamination of Lake Chivero from a press statement published by Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority on 13 December 2024 on its social media platforms, where it advised that four rhinos, three zebras, four wildebeests, four fish eagles as well as an undisclosed number of cattle and goats from nearby farms had died due to cyanobacteria contamination at Lake Chivero Recreational Park.

The details contained in the press statement were also published and widely reported in some national newspapers and some online publications.

HWT said it reasonably believes that the pollution by cyanobacteria in Lake Chivero is caused by CoH’s conduct of constantly dumping raw sewage effluent in Lake Chivero over the years and expressed its deep concern that the dire situation can lead to the loss of animal life, aqua life and aqua bio-diversity.

The environmental rights lobby organisation said several people carry out fishing activities in Lake Chivero in which they obtain fish for resale and consumption and this has a ripple effect on people consuming contaminated fish.

More disconcerting, HWT said, is that the cyanobacteria pollution makes the water in Lake Chivero unsafe and dangerous for human consumption and use.

HWT said as a tier of government and according to the provisions of section 73 of the Constitution, CoH has a constitutional obligation to take all the necessary steps to ensure that the environment is protected and conserved for the benefit of present and future generations.

HWT said citizens who rely on Lake Chivero as a source of water, have a constitutionally guaranteed right to a safe and healthy environment which is not harmful to their health, which right is guaranteed in terms of section 73(1) of the Constitution.

In addition, HWT said in terms of section 4(2)(g) of the Environmental Management Act, CoH’s conduct of discharging raw sewage effluent into Lake Chivero being one of the causes of the cyanobacteria pollution, obliges the local authority to bear the duty of decontaminating Lake Chivero as well as the burden of taking preventive measures to ensure that the cyanobacteria pollution does not recur or is otherwise minimised in future.

The environmental and water rights lobbyists demanded that CoH should within 48 hours immediately take measures to decontaminate Lake Chivero and immediately stop discharging raw sewage effluent into it.

The local authority, HWT said, should immediately take steps to ensure that cyanobacteria pollution does not recur in Lake Chivero or is otherwise minimised in future and should notify members of the public through radio broadcasts, its social media handles and all its district office notice boards that Lake Chivero is contaminated and advise members of the public from consuming or buying fish from Lake Chivero.

In the event of CoH failing to comply with its demands, HWT said it will proceed to institute litigation against the local authority to obtain appropriate relief.

In its letter to EMA, HWT demanded that the state-run body should urgently conduct water quality tests at Lake Chivero to ascertain the extent and levels of the cyanobacteria pollution and serve an Environmental Protection Order on CoH directing it to immediately take measures to decontaminate Lake Chivero and to immediately stop discharging raw sewage effluent into Lake Chivero and also serve an Environmental Protection Order on UMSCC directing it to take urgent steps to stop the cyanobacteria pollution in Lake Chivero and to decontaminate Lake Chivero.

The environmental and water rights lobbyists said in terms of section 10 of the Environmental Management Act, EMA is reposed with a host of statutory duties, which include regulating and monitoring the disposal, treatment and recycling of waste, regulating and monitoring the discharge or emission of any pollutant or hazardous substance into the environment, undertaking any works deemed necessary for the protection of the environment and to issue and serve Environmental Protection Orders.

In the event of EMA failing to meet its demands, HWT said it will proceed to institute litigation against EMA.

In its letter to UMSCC, HWT demanded that the statutory water management body should within 24 hours furnish it with details of the cause, nature and extent of the cyanobacteria contamination of Lake Chivero and share information as to whether any measures are being taken to de-contaminate Lake Chivero and specify the nature of such measures being taken.

UMSCC, HWT said, should also advise it if it has issued any measures and or recommendations to prevent recurrence of the contamination of water in Lake Chivero and specify such measures and recommendations.

Failure to do so, HWT said, would leave it with no option but to take legal action against UMSCC to compel it to furnish the environmental and water rights campaigners with the requested information.

Chief Hwenje Stages 1st ED Bootlicking Musical Show After Death Romours

By Showbiz Reporter – Zanu PF-aligned singer Admire Sanyanga Sibanda, popularly known as Chief Hwenje, made his first public performance last Thursday after weeks of swirling death rumours.

Hwenje entertained a large crowd at Mkandapi Business Centre in Shurugwi, where President Emmerson Mnangagwa commissioned the resurfaced Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road.

Speaking at the Zanu PF event, Hwenje revealed that President Mnangagwa facilitated his recent trip to India for cancer treatment.

“I want to thank the First Family for ensuring that I went to India. The President ensured that I got all the treatment and attention I needed, including the medical procedure I underwent. They constantly checked on me to hear about my progress,” Hwenje told state media.

This marked Hwenje’s second public appearance in a week, following his emergence alongside Mnangagwa’s close ally Owen Ncube.

Last month, Hwenje’s cancer diagnosis triggered a public outcry over allegations that Zanu PF had exploited the artist and abandoned him during his health crisis.

Initially, presidential spokesperson George Charamba claimed that the ruling party had flown Hwenje to South Africa for treatment.

However, the absence of photographic evidence fueled speculation about his wellbeing.

Chief Hwenje rose to prominence following Zimbabwe’s 2017 military coup that ousted Robert Mugabe after 37 years in power.

His praise songs, including Garwe Rauya (“The Crocodile Has Come”), became anthems for Mnangagwa’s loyalists, earning Hwenje a reputation as a zealous supporter of the ruling party.

However, his plight mirrors a recurring trend in Zanu PF’s history of exploiting artists for political propaganda before casting them aside.

In the early 2000s, Last Chiyangwa, better known as Tambaoga, gained fame for his pro-Zanu PF song Rambai Makashinga (“Remain Resilient”), which justified state-sanctioned land seizures.

Once a celebrated voice of the regime, Tambaoga now lives in destitution, a cautionary tale of political loyalty gone unrewarded.

Similarly, the late revolutionary singer Dickson Chingaira, affectionately called Cde Chinx, dedicated his music to Zanu PF’s liberation war rhetoric.

Despite his unwavering loyalty, Chinx spent his final years in poverty, with minimal support from the party he served.

While Hwenje’s reappearance may quell rumours of his death, it reignites questions about Zanu PF’s treatment of loyal artists.

Will Hwenje’s current favour endure, or is he destined to meet the same fate as Tambaoga and Cde Chinx?

For now, Hwenje’s public performances and state-backed praise may signal recovery, but his story serves as a sobering reminder of the high-cost artists pays when aligning their craft with a political machine known for exploiting and discarding its propaganda tools.

Bushiri Resurfaces, Attacks Chris Brown

South Africa-Fugitive Malawian preacher and self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri has resurfaced online, launching a scathing attack on the South African media for what he termed “hypocrisy” in their praise of American singer Chris Brown’s weekend shows in Johannesburg.

Brown’s double performance at the iconic FNB Stadium drew a combined crowd of 94,000 fans, marking one of the biggest musical events of the year.

However, Bushiri, posting on his X account, claimed his religious gatherings at the same venue had far exceeded these numbers and accused local media of bias.

“So Chris Brown’s concert at FNB Stadium drew a crowd of 94,000 and the South African weirdo media is going crazy crowning him ‘the biggest crowd puller.’ What a shame. Hate is really an animal,” Bushiri wrote. “We recorded an all-time high of 110,000 people attending my Crossover Night prayers for four consecutive times. Despite FNB Management confirming this publicly, no South African media wrote about it till date.”

He further accused the media of “hating men of God” while celebrating what he described as “evil.”

Bushiri’s comments come amid lingering controversy surrounding his dramatic exit from South Africa.

The preacher and his wife fled to Malawi in 2020 while out on bail following their arrest on charges of fraud, money laundering, and corruption involving millions of rands.

Despite ongoing legal efforts, south African authorities have since struggled to extradite the pair.

Bushiri’s remarks sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some defending his claims of double standards while others questioned his moral authority given his unresolved criminal cases.

Chris Brown’s concerts, meanwhile, have been hailed as a major success, with fans celebrating the international star’sreturn to South Africa after a decade-long absence.

Accident: How Gonyet Driver Crashed Into 6 Trucks

Zimbabwean Truck Driver Dies in Multi-Vehicle Collision on N3, Marrianhill Toll Plaza

By A Correspondent | Durban, South Africa – Tragedy struck at the Marrianhill Toll Plaza on the N3 highway in KwaZulu-Natal, Friday evening, after a horrific multi-vehicle collision involving six trucks and five cars left one person dead and over 15 others critically injured.

The accident scene

The accident, which occurred in wet and rainy conditions, created a devastating scene of destruction as emergency responders raced to rescue victims trapped in mangled vehicles.

Scene of Carnage

Eyewitness images from the accident paint a harrowing picture of the aftermath. In the first frame, the overturned body of a large truck stands tall, twisted and crushed beyond recognition, its metal body mangled into sharp, jagged wreckage. Around it, shattered glass, vehicle debris, and injured survivors scatter the rain-slicked road, illuminated only by the flashing lights of emergency vehicles. The heavy truck, believed to have caused the initial impact, remains the center of the destruction.

In another image, a light motor vehicle lies flattened on its side, its structure crumpled to an unrecognizable heap of steel. The roof is almost entirely compressed into the chassis, underscoring the force of the collision. Nearby, rescue workers and paramedics can be seen using advanced tools to extract victims pinned inside.

A third image shows a chaotic scene on the N3 highway, lined with several damaged vehicles, including large trucks, surrounded by emergency vehicles. Traffic is at a standstill while rescue operations continue under worsening weather conditions.

Official Statement and Investigation

Ndabezinhle Sibiya, spokesperson for KwaZulu-Natal Transport and Human Settlements, confirmed that the collision involved a Zimbabwean heavy motor vehicle, which collided with six trucks and five cars in a chain reaction.

“The driver of the Zimbabwean truck tragically died on the scene. Over 10 people sustained critical injuries, and paramedics worked tirelessly to stabilize and transport them to hospitals in Durban,” said Sibiya.

He urged motorists to avoid the Marrianhill Toll Plaza area, as clean-up and investigations by Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) officials continued through the night.

Emergency Response Efforts

Paramedics described the scene as one of “chaos and carnage”. Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Services, praised the swift efforts of emergency responders, including advanced life support teams and the eThekwini Fire Department, who used heavy machinery to free victims trapped in the twisted wreckage.

“Despite best efforts, one truck driver was found severely entrapped in the wreckage and succumbed to his injuries on site,” Jamieson confirmed. “Multiple people sustained varying injuries, and ambulances transported them to various hospitals for urgent care.”

Traffic Impact and Safety Concerns

The N3 highway was closed for several hours, causing significant traffic disruptions as emergency personnel worked tirelessly to clear the scene. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially during adverse weather conditions, and delay trips where possible.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with preliminary reports suggesting poor visibility and wet road conditions as potential contributing factors.

End of Report.

Mukuru Hit by Armed Robbers Again

By Dorrothy Moyo | Harare, Zimbabwe – A gang of armed robbers struck a Mukuru Money Transfer agency at Makomva Shopping Centre in Glen View yesterday morning, escaping with over US$2,700 and R2,350 in yet another targeted attack on financial outlets.

The robbery occurred at approximately 10 AM when four suspects, armed with pistols, arrived at the busy shopping center in a black Toyota Mark X. The robbers, who had allegedly conducted surveillance earlier, waited for a cash delivery before executing their well-orchestrated heist.

Hostages and Shots Fired

Eyewitnesses recounted the dramatic scene as the robbers stormed the Mukuru outlet, located within a pharmacy. The gang held the agency’s workers and a customer hostage at gunpoint, demanding cash. One customer, who had just withdrawn US$950, was attacked and robbed alongside the teller, from whom US$1,839 and R2,350 were looted.

The chaos escalated when the robbers fired shots into the air to intimidate bystanders as they fled the scene, causing panic among shoppers.

“It was terrifying. They were armed and aggressive, and the sound of gunfire sent people running in all directions,” said one eyewitness who was at the shopping center during the robbery.

Police Launch Investigation

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, saying investigations are already underway.

“We can confirm that US$2,789 and R2,350 were stolen by four suspects armed with pistols. They fled in a black Toyota Mark X, and we are working to determine whether the vehicle had a registration number,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and assist police with any information that may help identify the suspects.

Rise in Robberies

This incident highlights a concerning trend of targeted robberies against financial service providers, particularly Mukuru Money Transfer outlets, which handle significant cash volumes. The robbery comes amid growing concerns over the safety of cash-in-transit operations and increased criminal activity in Harare.

Other Criminal Incidents

In separate incidents, police are investigating multiple cases of unlawful entry and theft:
• On December 13, an unknown suspect broke into a residence on Abyone Drive, Newlands, stealing a cash box containing US$20,000 and a laptop.
• On December 12, unknown assailants broke into Rakodzi Estate in Marondera and stole firearms, including a Farbam shotgun, a Brno shotgun, and a BSA rifle, while the homeowner was away in Harare.

Police Urge Caution

The police have urged businesses, particularly cash handling agencies, to improve security measures, including hiring trained guards and investing in surveillance systems.

“Criminal gangs are targeting locations where cash is readily available. We appeal to the public to report any suspicious activity and remain alert,” Commissioner Nyathi added.

Public Concern

Residents of Glen View and other high-density areas have expressed growing concern over the frequency of armed robberies, calling on authorities to implement stronger measures to curb these incidents.

As investigations continue, the public remains on edge, with fears that such brazen attacks may become even more frequent in the absence of decisive interventions.

Zimbabwe Fails to Airlift 20 Citizens Still Stranded in Sierra Leone

Harare, Zimbabwe – The Zimbabwean Government has come under increasing scrutiny after failing to airlift over 20 citizens stranded in Sierra Leone following a human trafficking ordeal. Despite mounting public pressure, the victims—lured to the West African nation with false promises of lucrative job opportunities—remain in dire conditions while awaiting assistance.

The victims were reportedly deceived by a human trafficking syndicate involving both a foreign entity and a local company, which exploited their desperation for employment. While a handful of survivors have managed to return home in recent weeks, including two placed in protective custody last week, several others remain trapped in Sierra Leone.

Government Appeals for International Assistance

In response to the worsening crisis, the Government has enlisted the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to coordinate efforts to bring back the stranded citizens. Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare Minister July Moyo confirmed the Government’s collaboration with the IOM but stopped short of providing a concrete timeline for their return.

“Right now, we have a situation in Sierra Leone, where our people were recruited there and they are being abused. While some have returned home, we still have others who are still out there,” Minister Moyo said.

The delay has sparked frustration among affected families and raised questions about Zimbabwe’s preparedness to handle similar crises.

Growing Concerns and Calls for Accountability

Critics argue that Zimbabwe’s response has been slow and reactive, with survivors reporting harrowing conditions and abuses while stranded. The lack of immediate action to secure their safe passage home has intensified public outcry, especially as other nations have managed to evacuate their citizens from similar situations.

A human rights advocate, speaking on condition of anonymity, criticized the lack of urgency:

“Every moment these victims remain stranded, they are at risk. Zimbabwe cannot afford to delay. The Government must prioritize securing flights and bringing these citizens home immediately.”

Raising Awareness Amid Trafficking Risks

The ordeal highlights a troubling trend of Zimbabweans falling prey to human trafficking syndicates amid economic challenges and unemployment. Minister Moyo emphasized the need to regulate recruitment agencies and educate citizens about the risks of irregular migration.

“Migration is beneficial, but it also comes with human trafficking challenges,” Minister Moyo said. “The Government is implementing measures to prevent such exploitation, including regulating recruitment agencies and working with international partners like the IOM.”

However, these measures offer little comfort to the families of those still stranded, as tangible action to secure their return remains elusive.

Previous Incidents Highlight Systemic Failures

The Sierra Leone case is not isolated. Minister Moyo referenced a similar incident in Kuwait, where Zimbabwean victims of trafficking faced prolonged suffering before their eventual return. These recurring failures underscore the systemic gaps in Zimbabwe’s ability to protect its citizens abroad and respond effectively to crises.

Unanswered Questions

While the Government’s collaboration with the IOM is a step forward, critics argue that a comprehensive evacuation plan is long overdue. Families are now demanding transparency and a clear commitment to ensure their loved ones return safely.

The continued delay in airlifting Zimbabweans trapped in Sierra Leone serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked human trafficking and the urgent need for proactive measures to protect vulnerable citizens.

Mthuli Promises To Fix Smuggling Following US Sanctions On ED’s GoldMafia Partner

Govt’s Anti-Smuggling Crackdown Raises Questions Over Mnangagwa’s Alleged Links to Sanctioned Gold Smuggling Network

By A Correspondent | Harare, Zimbabwe – As the Government intensifies its nationwide crackdown on smuggling and illicit trade, revelations have emerged exposing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s alleged links to a sanctioned gold smuggling network, raising questions about the sincerity of the operation.

While Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube condemned smuggling as detrimental to Zimbabwe’s economy during the launch of the anti-smuggling blitz, he failed to address recent U.S. Treasury sanctions that implicate President Mnangagwa in the very practices the Government now claims to be eradicating.

On December 9, 2024, the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), in coordination with the UK government and the FBI, sanctioned 28 individuals and businesses involved in a global gold smuggling and money laundering network centered in Zimbabwe. At the heart of the operation is Kamlesh Pattni, a controversial figure who has been implicated in exploiting Zimbabwe’s natural resources through corrupt partnerships with high-level government officials.

The OFAC report specifically named Pattni’s Sun Multinational DMCC network, which has deep ties to Zimbabwe’s leadership, including allegations of direct collaboration with President Mnangagwa, who himself was sanctioned on March 4, 2024, under Executive Order 13818 for corruption and human rights abuses.

Omissions in Government’s Narrative

Despite the Government’s current anti-smuggling initiative, Minister Ncube made no mention of the systemic corruption highlighted by the U.S. and UK sanctions, which accuse Mnangagwa’s regime of facilitating illicit gold exports through bribery and fraudulent incentives. The network, according to OFAC, has systematically drained Zimbabwe of its natural wealth while enriching corrupt officials and shielding criminal enterprises.

“Pattni’s network is emblematic of globalized corruption, exploiting Zimbabwe’s resources while depriving its citizens of economic benefits,” stated Bradley T. Smith, Acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.

The Mnangagwa Connection

Pattni’s operations reportedly thrived under the patronage of high-ranking officials, with President Mnangagwa at the center of these allegations. Pattni’s network, through front companies and trusted couriers, orchestrated the export of Zimbabwe’s gold and diamonds while returning inflated cash figures to benefit government insiders. In exchange for protection, Pattni’s operations bypassed customs controls—the very issues the current anti-smuggling crackdown claims to address.

International Accountability

The revelations have led observers to question whether the Government’s anti-smuggling operation is genuine or a smokescreen to distract from international scrutiny. By failing to acknowledge Mnangagwa’s alleged involvement, critics argue that the campaign appears more focused on small-scale vendors and transport operators while ignoring entrenched corruption at the highest levels.

Industry Reaction and Public Outcry

The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) and other business stakeholders have cautiously welcomed the crackdown, but concerns remain about the selective nature of enforcement. CZR President Dr. Denford Mutashu called for fairness, saying, “While this operation targets smugglers harming local industries, it must be impartial. If corruption at the top is not addressed, these efforts will lack credibility.”

Meanwhile, civil society organizations and opposition leaders have demanded an independent inquiry into the President’s alleged role in enabling Pattni’s network, as revealed in the OFAC sanctions.

As Zimbabwe navigates this anti-smuggling drive, the failure to confront allegations against Mnangagwa casts a shadow over the Government’s efforts, raising fears that the initiative is more performative than transformative.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) estimates that approximately 2.7 million people across six Southern African countries will be affected by Cyclone Chido ¹.

Tawanda Chirewa’s Derby County Future Uncertain Amid Injury Setbacks

Sports Correspondent

Derby County head coach Paul Warne has addressed concerns surrounding Tawanda Chirewa’s loan spell, following the midfielder’s prolonged injury struggles. Chirewa, on loan from Wolves, has made only two league appearances due to a torn thigh muscle that kept him sidelined for nearly two months.

After resuming training with the senior team, Warne emphasized that Chirewa must earn his place through hard work and competition. “He’s got himself back fit and now he has to get back into the squad,” Warne said. “To do that, he needs to train better than everybody else. He has to fight for his spot.”

Warne clarified that neither Wolves nor Chirewa’s agent have contacted him regarding the player’s future, stating it’s too early to make decisions. “It hasn’t worked out for him or for us as well as it could have, simply because he got injured,” Warne concluded. “But he’s here for the season and has looked good in training.”

Auxillia Mnangagwa Defends PhD Credentials: “Earned Through Merit, Not Favouritism”

By A Correspondent

Mrs. Auxillia Mnangagwa has firmly stated that her recent attainment of a PhD was solely based on her merit, dismissing any claims of favoritism or special treatment.

Speaking at a public event in Chiweshe over the weekend, she celebrated the achievement alongside her husband, President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“No favours, no special treatment, just pure merit. I worked tirelessly to achieve this,” Mrs. Mnangagwa declared.

She emphasized the challenges she faced during her academic journey, particularly in completing her research, but expressed pride in overcoming those obstacles. “You cannot talk of favoritism. I even struggled with my research but I am happy to be where I am today,” she added.

Her comments come amid controversy surrounding the rapidity of her academic success, with some critics questioning the process behind the award of her PhD. Mrs. Mnangagwa, however, stands by her assertion that the degree was earned through hard work and dedication, not through any external influences or privileges.

Zanu PF Blocks Charity Programme In Mvuma

By A Correspondent

A generous donation of wheelchairs to Mvuma District Hospital has been halted due to political red tape, with Zanu PF officials reportedly blocking the delivery.

Asherboy Mafukidze, a former Forestry Commission employee, has been attempting to donate two new wheelchairs to the hospital since May of this year.

However, he has been unable to do so due to the bureaucratic approval process, which requires sign-offs from several political figures, including the District Medical Officer (DMO), the District Development Coordinator (DDC), the local MP, and the Minister of State.

Mafukidze, who witnessed the dire need for proper medical equipment at the hospital, described the current wheelchairs at Mvuma Hospital as being in deplorable condition. “I experienced excruciating pain in those wheelchairs. They have no armrests, they are all rusty steel, they have no leg rests, and the wheels are tied to the wheelchairs with pieces of wire and strings. I have never sat on something so uncomfortable,” Mafukidze remarked.

Mvuma Hospital, which serves the Chirumanzu District, has long struggled with outdated and broken-down medical equipment. The existing wheelchairs are estimated to be over 20 years old, with only four available for the hospital’s many patients in need.

Mafukidze first approached Dr. Simbarashe Maunga, the District Medical Officer, in May to offer the wheelchairs. He was subsequently referred to Joram Chimedza, the District Development Coordinator, who informed him that approval from the Minister and the MP for Chirumanzu-Zibagwe, Jacob Chokururama, was necessary before any donation could be accepted.

“I have been trying to donate these wheelchairs for months, but politics has gotten in the way,” said Mafukidze.

“They told me I had to get permission from all the politicians before I could help. It is frustrating to see how political bureaucracy is delaying something that could make a real difference for the hospital.”

The political barriers surrounding the donation reflect broader issues within Zimbabwe, where development initiatives not aligned with the ruling party, Zanu PF, are often blocked. Donations and infrastructure projects have been halted in several areas, especially those that could be perceived as benefiting opposition political causes.

Mafukidze, undeterred by the political hurdles, vowed to continue his efforts once he is able to recover from his current health struggles. “Once I am well again, I will appeal for further donations to Mvuma Hospital. The need is urgent,” he said.

Although several officials were approached for comment, staff at Mvuma District Hospital remained tight-lipped on the situation.

The incident highlights how political red tape continues to hinder charitable initiatives in Zimbabwe, leaving vulnerable communities without much-needed resources.

The announcement coincides with the anniversary of the controversial 2017 press briefing where Mutsvangwa revealed that military intervention would influence election results — a move that remains etched in Zimbabwe’s political history.

The timing of this press conference is particularly notable, as it comes amidst reports of a massive fire that has engulfed the military headquarters at KG6 Barracks, now officially renamed Josiah Magama Barracks. Details about the fire remain unclear, but eyewitnesses reported plumes of smoke rising from the facility early this morning, sparking widespread speculation and anxiety.

The Historical Echo of December 2017

Today’s developments appear to mirror the politically charged atmosphere of December 2017. During that time, Mutsvangwa’s press statement acted as a prelude to seismic shifts in Zimbabwe’s leadership, signaling the military’s overt influence in the nation’s governance. Analysts are already drawing parallels, suggesting that today’s briefing may mark yet another turning point.

Political observers and citizens alike are on edge, questioning whether this convergence of events — the fire at a key military installation and the urgent press conference — signals deeper unrest or potential changes within Zimbabwe’s political or security apparatus.

The Josiah Magama Barracks Fire

While authorities have yet to provide an official statement on the fire, its occurrence at one of Zimbabwe’s most critical military facilities raises serious concerns about national security and the state of preparedness. Investigations are likely to focus on whether the fire was accidental, deliberate, or symbolic of greater internal turmoil.

Public Reaction and Speculation

Social media and news platforms have been ablaze with speculation as Zimbabweans attempt to decipher the implications of both the fire and Mutsvangwa’s urgent briefing. With political tensions historically high in December, today’s events have reignited fears of instability or dramatic shifts in the country’s leadership structure.

What to Expect

The press conference, scheduled at 11:00 AM, will likely address either the military fire, matters of national security, or other undisclosed political developments. Given Mutsvangwa’s role in shaping major narratives during times of political crisis, the media and public await his words with bated breath.

We will provide live updates as the situation unfolds. Stay tuned.

Heroes Acre Now A Hub Of Thieves, As Veterans Shun The National Shrine

By Political Reporter- Once a revered symbol of unity and sacrifice in Zimbabwe, The National Heroes Acre, is now mired in controversy as a growing number of liberation war veterans reject burial at the site.

The latest to do so is former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, who was laid to rest Sunday at his Douglasdale home in Bulawayo.

Mphoko’s decision follows a series of similar snubs by prominent nationalists, reflecting deep divisions over the legacy of the Heroes Acre and the ruling Zanu PF’s role as gatekeepers of national heroism.

Dumiso Dabengwa, a former ZIPRA intelligence chief, was buried at his rural home in Ntabazinduna in 2019 after expressing distrust of the government.

Welshman Mabhena, an ex-ZAPU stalwart, openly denounced the Heroes Acre as a resting place for “corrupt people” and opted for a private burial in 2010.

Even former President Robert Mugabe, ousted in a 2017 coup, rejected the Heroes Acre and chose burial at his rural home in Zvimba, while Tshinga Dube, another ZIPRA commander, had his family’s wishes for a Bulawayo burial overridden by the government.

This growing trend highlights a fractured national identity and the disillusionment of liberation icons with Zanu PF’s custodianship of the Heroes Acre.

Once intended to honour those who fought for independence, the site is increasingly seen as a political tool, reflecting a legacy of division and mistrust rather than unity and sacrifice.

Warriors Star Struggles With Injury Setbacks

Sports Correspondent

Derby County head coach Paul Warne has addressed the ongoing situation regarding Tawanda Chirewa’s loan spell at the club, following the midfielder’s recent injury setbacks.

Chirewa, who joined the Rams on a season-long loan from Premier League side Wolves in August, has struggled for game time due to a torn thigh muscle that sidelined him for nearly two months. The Warriors international has made just two league appearances since his arrival.

However, after completing his recovery, Chirewa resumed training with the senior team last week. Warne, speaking to Derby Telegraph, emphasized that there are no plans to cut short Chirewa’s loan deal. He stated that the player must now earn his place in the squad through hard work and competition.

“He’s got himself back fit and now he has to get back into the squad,” Warne said. “To do that, he needs to train better than everybody else. He has to fight for his spot. If he does that and performs well, he’s definitely a player I want to keep.”

Warne further clarified that neither Wolves nor Chirewa’s agent have contacted him regarding the player’s future, adding that it was too early to make any decisions.

“It hasn’t worked out for him or for us as well as it could have simply because he got injured,” Warne concluded. “But he’s here for the season and has looked good in training.”

Mnangagwa Bunks Mphoko Burial

By Farai D Hove | In a development stirring controversy across Zimbabwe, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has come under fire for failing to attend the burial of former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko, who was laid to rest in Matabeleland over the weekend.

Mphoko, who passed away in India, had served as Zimbabwe’s vice president alongside Mnangagwa during the late Robert Mugabe’s tenure. According to the constitution, Mphoko was next in line to take over the presidency following Mugabe’s resignation in 2017. However, the 2017 coup orchestrated by Mnangagwa and his allies saw both Mugabe and Mphoko violently sidelined, paving the way for Mnangagwa’s ascent to power.

Despite the historical and political significance of Mphoko’s passing, Mnangagwa’s absence at the burial has raised eyebrows, especially given the region’s political sensitivities and lingering tensions from the events of 2017.

Defending the president’s decision, presidential spokesperson George Charamba issued a statement:

“HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT, DR E D MNANGAGWA, HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO PAY HIS LAST RESPECTS TO LATE VP MPHOKO BEFORE COMMENCEMENT OF BURIAL PROCEEDINGS. MAY THE LATE FREEDOM FIGHTER REST IN ETERNAL PEACE????”

Charamba’s statement has done little to quell public criticism, with many viewing Mnangagwa’s absence as a snub to Mphoko’s legacy and a continuation of the political rift that defined their tumultuous relationship.

A Troubled Legacy

Phelekezela Mphoko, a veteran of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, found himself sidelined during the 2017 coup, despite being constitutionally positioned to succeed Mugabe. His subsequent years were marred by political isolation, with his legacy divided between his service in government and the controversies surrounding his role in ZANU-PF politics.

His burial in Matabeleland—an area long associated with political marginalization and the scars of the Gukurahundi atrocities—added another layer of significance to the president’s absence. Local leaders and commentators have noted that Mnangagwa’s decision not to attend risks deepening the perception of neglect and disregard for the region’s historical grievances.

Public Reaction

Social media and political commentators have been ablaze with speculation and criticism of Mnangagwa’s motives, with some suggesting his absence underscores unresolved tensions from the 2017 coup. Others view it as a missed opportunity to reconcile with Matabeleland and honor a figure who, despite their differences, shared the liberation struggle with him.

As Zimbabweans continue to reflect on the legacy of Phelekezela Mphoko, questions remain about how his death—and Mnangagwa’s apparent snub—will shape the ongoing narrative of the nation’s troubled political history.

Mnangagwa Snubs Mphoko Burial

By Political Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa Sunday snubbed the burial of the former Vice President Phelekezela Report Mphoko.

Mphoko also snubbed National Heroes Acre and was buried at his Douglasdale home plot in Bulawayo.

Mphoko, a former senior ZIPRA commander during the Liberation Struggle, died on December 6, 2024, in India, where he was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Mphoko’s casket, draped in the national flag, was displayed as family, friends, relatives, and dignitaries gathered to pay their last respects.

Among the notable officials were Judith Ncube, Minister of State for Bulawayo Province; Richard Moyo, Minister of State for Matabeleland North Province; and Sithembiso Nyoni, Minister of Environment, Climate, and Wildlife, among others.

Although Mphoko was declared a national hero by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and ZANU PF and was supposed to be buried at Heroes Acre in Harare, his family said he expressed a wish to be buried at his home.

Recently, another late former ZIPRA commander, Tshinga Dube, had a similar wish, although the government overrode it and buried him at Heroes Acre in Harare.

Dube had wanted to be buried at Lady Stanley Cemetery in Bulawayo.

Employee Sentenced for Embezzlement as Businessman’s Fraud Trial Continues

By A Correspondent| A former employee of MA Auto Supplies, Lorraine Mawema, has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for misappropriating over $3,500 entrusted to her by her employer.

Mawema was arrested in June after failing to account for funds, including money earmarked for fuel allowances for other employees.

Initially, she admitted to using the funds in a sworn affidavit and pledged to repay the amount. However, she later reversed her plea, leading her employer to escalate the case to court.

During the investigation, authorities confirmed that Mawema had used the funds for personal purposes. She was granted bail under strict conditions, including regular reporting to Marlborough Police Station.

On December 3, Mawema was convicted and remanded in custody.

Recently, she was sentenced to 24 months, with portions of the sentence suspended under various conditions.

Six months were suspended for five years, provided she does not commit a similar offense during that period.

Another six months were suspended on the condition that she repays the embezzled funds by January 27, 2025.

The remaining 12 months were suspended on the condition that she completes 420 hours of community service.

Meanwhile, the trial of Michael Smith, a businessman accused of defrauding MA Auto Supplies of more than $38,000 and R124,000, is ongoing.

Smith faces a range of charges, including two counts of theft of trust property, 12 counts of fraud, and 25 counts of corruptly concealing transactions from his principal. The State continued to lead evidence from witnesses in his case before Harare magistrate Ethel Chichera.

Smith has been remanded to February 2025 as the trial progresses.

Leganes Stun Barcelona

Sports Correspondent

Barcelona’s La Liga lead is under threat after a shocking 1-0 home defeat to Leganes on Sunday.

The loss leaves Barcelona vulnerable, as Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid can surpass them with wins in their respective games in hand.

Midfielder Pedri emphasized the need for improvement, stating, “We must be better” to “turn things around” before the winter break. Barcelona’s 38 points from 18 games are now within reach for Atletico (38) and Real Madrid (37), who can capitalize on Barcelona’s misstep.

Manager Hansi Flick’s team must regroup and refocus to maintain their top spot. The pressure is on Barcelona to rediscover their scoring form and reclaim their momentum in La Liga.

Fostering A Culture Of Responsibility For Road Safety

Government Enforces Use Of ZiG Currency

Commentary on Enforcement and Strengthening of ZiG Currency

By Linda Tsungirirai Masarira

14 December 2024

The announcement by Deputy Minister of Finance, Kudakwashe David Mnangagwa, regarding covert operations to enforce the use of the Zimbabwean ZiG currency underscores the government’s growing concern about the slow acceptance of the gold-backed currency.

This move comes as part of efforts to bolster confidence in the ZiG, which was introduced in April 2024 as a gold-backed currency aimed at stabilizing the economy and reducing reliance on foreign currencies like the US dollar.

The operation reflects the Government’s strategy to enforce the use of the ZiG.
While ensuring the circulation and acceptance of the ZiG is critical to its success, the dual approach of persuasion and compulsion raises questions about the sustainability of such measures.

Forced compliance through law enforcement, arrests, and fines risks creating resistance among businesses and the public, undermining trust in the ZiG rather than building confidence.

To strengthen confidence in the ZiG and ensure its integration into the economy, the government must prioritize creating consistent and widespread demand for the currency. A more effective and economically sound approach would involve incentivizing the use of the ZiG while discouraging reliance on the US dollar through fiscal policies. We propose the introduction of a transaction tax on USD payments to make its usage less attractive. Simultaneously, reducing VAT rates for transactions conducted in ZiG would create a tangible financial benefit for businesses and consumers who adopt the local currency. This dual strategy will encourage a gradual shift toward the ZiG without coercion, fostering voluntary acceptance and reinforcing its credibility as a stable and reliable currency.

One critical step would be mandating that fuel be sold exclusively in ZiG, as fuel is a key commodity that drives economic activity across all sectors. By anchoring such a high-demand product to the local currency, the government can immediately boost its usage and legitimacy.

Moreover, all government services, including passport applications, licenses, and other administrative fees, should only be payable in ZiG. This approach will institutionalize the currency’s use, ensuring that it becomes the default medium of exchange for accessing essential services. By doing so, the government demonstrates its confidence in the currency and encourages both businesses and citizens to adopt it for daily transactions.
Creating demand for a currency is essential for it to take root in the economy.

Without sufficient demand, no amount of enforcement will sustain its usage. By aligning policies to promote organic demand for the ZiG through strategic pricing mechanisms, targeted incentives, and exclusive use in critical sectors, the government can gradually phase out reliance on the US dollar.

This will complement measures such as introducing a transaction tax on USD usage and reducing VAT for ZiG transactions, further incentivizing the local currency without over-reliance on compulsion.

Additionally, the government must ensure the fundamentals of the ZiG are strong—transparent gold reserves, consistent supply, and public awareness campaigns highlighting the benefits of the currency. Trust in the currency is built on its perceived stability and usability, not through punitive measures.

A collaborative approach that engages stakeholders, including businesses and consumers, will be more effective in establishing the ZiG as Zimbabwe’s preferred medium of exchange.

Ultimately, the success of the ZiG depends not only on enforcement but on its practicality and acceptance as a stable, reliable, and widely usable currency. Transparent management of its gold backing and a clear communication strategy to build public trust are equally vital to this effort.

In conclusion, the ZiG, introduced as a gold-backed currency to stabilize Zimbabwe’s economy, holds immense potential to restore confidence and reduce reliance on foreign currencies.

However, its success hinges on consistent monetary policies and fostering trust in the market. By implementing strategic measures to create demand such as mandating its use for essential goods and services, incentivizing its adoption, and ensuring transparency in its management, the government can transform the ZiG into a widely accepted and stable currency.

A strong, reliable ZiG will not only strengthen economic sovereignty but also lay the foundation for sustainable growth and resilience in Zimbabwe’s financial system.

Zanu PF Zealots Block Wheelchair Donation to Mvuma Hospital

Jennifer Banyure Caught On Camera “Hacking Gatwick Airport Database” Inspired By Hopewell Chin’ono Success and Award-Journalist’s Kaycee Girlfriend Heathrow Tip

By Investigations Reporter | ZimEye | When 57 year old Jennifer Banyure, a Zimbabwean child trafficker accused by ex husbands for allegedly poisoning them, turned up to meet a hacker to corrupt Gatwick Airport’s database on 26 Aug 2024, she thought no one would discover her scheme to deceive UK’s courts.

Finalising the hacking of Gatwick Airport database while looking into the computer screen XSS hackreport print…Jennifer Banyure inside St James Hotel.

The friend of the journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono’s who like him, changed her own name in 2001, and this year on 26 August 2024 had engaged a computer hacker to help delete her 2nd immigration record from Gatwick Airport databases, has lost a million pound court case after it was proven she is a fugitive from justice who has traversed UK’s airports on multiple times under different identities.

The XSS attack report – Finalising the hacking of Gatwick Airport database…Jennifer Banyure inside St James Hotel

Jennifer Banyure on the afternoon of the 26th Aug 2024 drove to St James Hotel in Nottingham, UK where she arranged for the hacking of Gatwick Airport’s immigration databases to be completed on the day, right there on the building’s second floor area. The visit and the operation were captured on video.

Holding the hacking confirmation report in her hands… Jennifer Banyure during her final moments.

How Jennifer has for over a quarter of a century repeatedly defeated UK’s immigration system, trafficked a minor, and even fraudulently acquired UK citizenship, is explained by other events such as the raping of 3 teenagers seen entering a Birmingham hotel on 9 Sept 2024.

Her operations are revealed in the Hopewell-Syndicate-Series exposing her gang that with the help of some UK embassy officials has spent the last 28 years (1996-2024) trafficking children across UK’s airports, laundering dirty money, and has grown in power to the point of compromising several governments. Two men are studied: a music promoter nicknamed, “Kaycee” who is Kudzaishe Chipadza, and a prominent award winning journalist by name Hopewell Chin’ono who announces himself to the online community as a “Daddy” character.

The following month, while acting on Chin’ono’s assurances that suggest it will never be discovered that she is a fugitive from justice executing another injustice, Jennifer Banyure later turned up at a Derby County Court hearing on the 5th Sept 2024 hoping to claim a share from a million pound estate owned by her short-marriage ex husband who she had cohabited with for 14 months in the period up to April 2023. (In her application she had managed to stitch up a four year paperwork base from the time of dating so it reads like they had cohabited for a longer period.)

During the Sept 5 hearing, she was within minutes slapped with an identity fraud case connected to her 2001 Gatwick Airport entry, as another person, Linda Munjanja.

Responding to it and in a sudden u-turn, she swiftly dropped her application to obtain her ex husband’s property, and opted for an out of court settlement with which she pleaded with him that the identity fraud case be dropped at least within the divorce proceedings.

The final divorce settlement that’s devoid of any sharing of her husband’s property has since been concluded and ruled on by District Judge Pittman who declared on 20 Oct 2024 stating as follows:

“IT IS ORDERED BY CONSENT:
Clean break: capital and income – Applicant

1Except as provided for in this order, the Applicant’s claims for secured periodical payments orders, periodical payments orders, lump sum orders, property adjustment orders, pension sharing orders and pension attachment orders shall be dismissed and she shall not be entitled to.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer Banyure has in the last 26 years, criss crossed UK’s airports under different names. Around July 2001, she entered Britain via Gatwick Airport under a totally different name, Linda Munjanja with a different date of birth. She also trafficked a 6 year old child into the UK on that day.

In 2016, her citizenship application was declined under her other name, Jennifer Banyure.

That is when she hatched a plan to marry a British citizen.

She later obtained British citizenship under her ex husband’s surname, in circumstances that reflect further weaknesses in the Home Office’s database management systems, over a decade after its GUI systems were upgraded.

Although having succeeded in becoming a UK citizen, her struggle has been over her Gatwick Airport entry record from back in 2001 when she as a fugitive from justice changed her name like many others of her compatriots, and flew back into UK with a 6 year old child she trafficked.

Her text messages with the “hacker” an undercover investigative journalist, reflect that she was acting on the strength of assurances by the activist Hopewell Chin’ono who says a mere letter from British embassy staff members is a valid criminal records check that insulates its holder from fraud investigations. She also relies on Hopewell Chin’ono’s 29 April 2024 posts over the deportation of the Emmerson Mnangagwa’s deejay and a self confessing human trafficker Kaycee Kudzaishe Chipadza’s girlfriend Felistas Murata, which more directly instruct her (Banyure) and other followers to carry out airport-security-sabotage operations that involve secretive movements plus isolating and victimising immigration whistleblowers.

In the text messages, Hopewell Chin’ono is also referred to as her friend.

Contrary to the journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono’s claims, recent expose’s of the ZANU PF DJ Kaycee, Kudzaishe Chipadza, reveal that UK Embassy letters are as late as 2024, actually being utilised to execute disturbing wrongdoings such as human trafficking of sex victims into the UK. Kaycie has admitted obtaining sexual pleasures from a teenager he smuggled from South Africa on 27 October 2023 with the help of two British embassy officials, based in Sandton, South Africa.

The development suggests that while technology has been upgraded and deployed; 23 years later, fraudsters have only gotten smarter than they were back in 2001 when Chin’ono and Banyure changed names. In 2001 the technology wasn’t there. In 2024 the situation has gotten worse, for it’s the honest-human-infrastructure that is now lacking for which reason, frauds through signatures of embassy staff members, can now be permanently obfuscated, so to facilitate for instance, the most frightening sex trafficking of females into UK.

Even crimes committed on UK soil can be covered up using a UK embassy staff member’s endorsement. 4 years ago, an NHS practitioner, Grace Mupfurutsa blew the whistle on Hopewell Chin’ono over alleged credit card frauds, similar to those Chipadza has been implicated in.

Jennifer Banyure is one of many foreigners who took advantage of UK’s weak database systems during the period 2001 and 2008 before Britain’s fingerprinting and DNA systems had been upgraded, and when it was impossible for British law enforcement to execute competent criminal records checks on foreigners.

When she went to court on 5 Sept 2024, Banyure was relying on the assurances by the journalist Hopewell Chin’ono, who in a spaces broadcast had claimed a British embassy staff member declares stating “Hopewell Chin’ono (who changed his name from Mukusha) is not a fugitive from justice.” (Hopewell Chin’ono also as in his 29 April 2024 posts, more directly instructs his social media followers to carry out airport security sabotage operations that involve isolating and victimising immigration whistleblowers.)

The embassy staff member’s letter which Chin’ono utilised has no such wording, albeit saying the embassy is not aware of outstanding issues between Mr Chin’ono and British authorities. The letter does not say anything further than that.

Like in Chin’ono’s case, and until the day Jennifer Banyure had travelled to the Nottingham hotel to try and delete her Gatwick Airport passport records, British authorities had no immediately accessible trace of Jennifer Banyure’s wrongdoings from the 2001 -8 period, the time when Mr Chin’ono also changed his own name, and many of his friends Mr. Joseph Mhaka got arrested and got convicted for serious money laundering crimes.

”I was trained by Hopewell Mukusha and we would be told to go into care homes and pluck out blank cheques belonging to service users; Hopewelll abandoned us to be jailed in 2002, I am very bitter,” a female ex convict tells ZimEye.

She also describes her stay in the UK after getting allegedly groomed by Mr Hopewell Chin’ono expressing resentment over being abandoned by him after they had both cashed stolen cheques in her early twenties.

She candidly states, “I once went to prison… I used to rob banks. I came to the UK and robbed banks… who didn’t rob? Who didn’t get arrested?” She criticizes those dredging up her 2002 arrests in 2024 and questions the righteousness of her accusers, mentioning the prevalence of COS fraud.

Meanwhile, a group of journalists investigated Jennifer Banyure after it emerged she has trafficked at least one child. It was also after medical allegations corroborated with claims by two of her ex husbands in the last 25 year period who allege that during their cohabiting days they would occasionally wake up from sleep at morning time to complain of suspicious injections on their bodies.

“My friend you must thank God that you are alive, I suffered the same prickings!,” Banyure’s ex husband only identified as Mr Jackson from 1999, told the latest ex husband this year.

Banyure was contacted for a comment in writing and via phone, and briefly spoke back before putting her phone down and then blocking communications after being asked to comment. She has had over 2 months to comment.

Mr Hopewell Chin’ono has been contacted on many times and his response has variated from accusing auditors of being paid by the ZANU PF party, to announcing that auditors including his own employer Geoff Nyarota inquiring of him are financial failures in life and that they are being motivated by hate. He has also responded by contradicting his earlier claims that he purchased his first home using no foreign cash but a Zimbabwe based mortgage from the govt aligned CABS bank in 2001. His latest claims have been a full declaration by him that his first home was purchased rather using British proceeds of £50,000 cash obtained from a non existent British sportscar lender back in 1996.

Asked for the name of the UK dealership or bank he says gave him the £50,000 credit facility he says shot him into the property ladder, his reply is that those asking him are doing so just because they hate him.

After admitting that of a truth he did change his name in 2001 like Jennifer Banyure, Chin’ono stresses in defence saying the UK embassy announced in a letter stating that “Hopewell Chin’ono is not a fugitive from justice.” The letter he produces has no such wording, and if it did, it would still not be a valid CRB or a DBS document and, if it was any of these, the embassy would have had no capacity of accessing fingerprint databases for immigrants who entered UK before 2008, as the technology was not there.

It is Mr Hopewell Chin’ono‘s attitude on the welfare of abused underage children that tells a deeper story following serious accusations that he interfered with a Scottish court case that’s prosecuting over the abuse of under-age children in 2014. Chin’ono’s behaviour rings similar to that of Kaycee. Responding to a report that he used his journalism badge to try and groom the main complainant in the trial of a suspect, Mr Hopewell Chin’ono is mum, and over complainants that he is a Daddy character who is himself using the internet to groom women, he accuses NHS practitioner Grace Mupfurutsa of being sent by the ZANU PF political party to a media outfit called Gambakwe Media to record her video on 18 Aug 2020. Timestamps however prove that Mupfurutsa never went to the media outfit; her Facebook LIVE videos shot the previous day was cropped out and segmented the following day by the media outfit for the news.

Mr (Kaycie) Kudzaishe Chipadza has commented saying the South African teenager he trafficked into the UK with the help of two British embassy staff members on 27 October 2023, is not a child, so he should not be suspected of sexually assaulting her.

One of the British embassy officials, only identified under the title, Chichi, who processed the 19 year old teen’s visa in 2023, was contacted by ZimEye on Thursday 24 October in a sting phone call and he briefly communicated as follows-

ZimEye: Chichi, I need a visa to the UK.

Chichi: When do you need to travel?

ZimEye: As soon as possible.

Chichi: Okay.

ZimEye: I got referred to you by Kaycie.

Chichi: [PHONE CUT]

Efforts to obtain a news comment from Chichi following the call have failed.

Jennifer Banyure has been given more time to respond to the allegations of poisoning her two ex husband’s who’ve corroborated their allegations from events between 1999-2024.

A Harare Embassy staffer promised that they would provide comment within a week, but is still to do it several months later.

Hold onto your hats, because things are about to get hotter, In the shadowy underbelly of Hopewell’s notorious gang, a chilling message has surfaced.

The enigmatic leader, Hopewell himself, has issued a grave warning to his followers. Beware of Simba Chikanza, he declares, his voice laced with urgency and dread. He’s on a mission, and he’s playing for keeps. Just after one of the syndicates, Felistas Murata, was caught in the act at Heathrow Airport, Hopewell blames Chikanza for it and blasts a warning. (Simba Chikanza is the original and lead investigator of Al Jazeeera’s 7 year researched GoldMafia documentary whose findings are the basis of the latest US and UK sanctions law.)

Between April 29, 2024, and August 26th of the same year, something rather peculiar is brewing on social media.

It is led by none other than Hopewell Chin’ono, an award-journalism figure who, since April, is advising close to a million of his followers to engage in airport data sabotage operations.

His instructions? To conceal any arrestable offenses and avoid people who might get them deported.

He’s specifically warned his followers to stay away from people vanodepotesana—he calls them “jealous” individuals who might turn them in to the UK Border Force for deportation.

If a genuine concern existed that the accused UK Border Force moles truly engage in false-reporting, Chin’ono would have used his journalism tools or at least the social media following he powerfully commands, to lobby against the moles over false reporting. But no, his lobbying is of a different kind. He is rather preoccupied with commanding his followers to sabotage airport security data through information blackouts and organised secretive movements. The followers take everything as Biblical truth uttered by their “Daddy.”

But why would so many educated people follow these instructions without questioning the Daddy character? And what is Chin’ono really feeding the hundreds of thousands of followers like Kaycee and Banyure on social media, that gives them confidence to execute immigration sabotage operations as late as 2024 so to beat sophisticated biometric technology set up at UK’s airports? Is he feeding them journalism?

“But Hopewell apawo handione kuti vanhu vatadza chii. Immigration ndouangoita basa rayo chete. Ende haaa munhu iyeye atori worse kapfuura nyika yese??‍♀️,” writes one Hither Mpofu.

“Hither Mpofu it was a fraud issue that immigration detected at Heathrow, Hopewell, nothing to do with Simba,” adds Mandla Mpofu.

He adds saying, “Ti’s too clear us it not that Mai Ts Diaries got herself in trouble by for instance carrying all those medical goods through Heathrow that are illegal in UK, and that are so visible even at RGM or ORTambo, she would have been arrested, so why do you blame Simba Chikanza for this clear case of a serial convict are you confirming you’re working with Mai Titi Hopewell Chin’ono ?
“Please explain what we are missing here Hopewell cause you’re rallying citizens so they fight to protect Kaycee’s girlfriend Felistas Murata and other offenders from UKBA,” he adds.

A 2021 investigation by his former employer Geoff Nyarota provides some intriguing clues.

The investigation gives hint that Chin’ono is practicing something else beyond journalism; something in the region of “materialism.” The news analysis report, titled, “journalism rarely generates excessive wealth,” published on the leading independent paper, Newsday website leads us to a large farm of data. This data is critical to test the accuracy of the employer’s findings. Even though the former employer is the best investigative journalist of all time with multiple awards, data is needed to assess the findings.

An extraction of Hopewell Chin’ono’s entire cache of online conversations in the period 2009 to 2024, which takes several days to execute, reveals data columns that seem consistent with findings by Chin’ono’s employer. The five columns are standing out after the extraction suggesting that-
Chin’ono is practicing 5 professions at the same time: Moneysm, the most dominant of them all-Daddysm, Militarism, Activism, and Journalism, the latter which is less than 1% fraction of the chunk.

The data suggests, Chin’ono is juggling five distinct roles at the same time- Moneysm, Daddysm, Militarism, Activism, and, of course, Journalism. Let’s break these down.

First, Moneysm or Materialism, where the focus is on accumulating wealth, often sidestepping moral boundaries. Chin’ono teaches his family of followers that they must not ask him any critical questions or call him to a debate with a lawyer because they are still to buy a house. He is a superman who should not be questioned even over the identity of the financier of the UK money £50,000 he says he used to buy his first home, which claim he contradicts himself saying no UK funds were used at all, it was all a Zimbabwe bank mortgage.

Next, Daddysm—a term used for male characters who cultivate a dominant, almost cult-like persona to manipulate their followers, often for personal gratification. It’s been found to be effective in manipulating sex victims in various rape cases, including one Chin’ono is accused of interfering in, in Scotland in 2014.

Chin’ono even adopted the Daddy moniker. Then, there’s Militarism.

This involves advocating for extreme measures, including military intervention against political opponents.

Chin’ono has advised the Zimbabwean Minister of Defence to use the army to suppress political expressions.

Following a meeting called up by Chin’ono, to fight off UN findings in the 2018 to 2019 period, his advice to the ministry of Defence, in the attempt to force the publisher Simba Chikanza to accept the military’s and Chin’ono’s imposition that the Chamisa led civil society are being corrupted with money and are the ones causing tension with the army. This imposition to try and make Chikanza consent to the military ministry’s false claim that Chamisa’s civil society are the ones who are shooting protesters, has led to President Emmerson Mnangagwa building the confidence to pursue torture victims at their doctors and lawyers, operations that have eventually caused opposition leader Nelson Chamisa to resign from his own party.
Writing in public, Chin’ono admits advising the Minister Of Defence that he should accuse the civil society of causing tension with the army.
It is this militarism that by the 26th Aug 2024 has enabled Chin’ono to later boast that he is assembling something more powerful than both Nelson Chamisa and Emmerson Mnangagwa, such that he can now set up a political institution, a government in exile that according to his public boasts, is supported by many Hopewell stationed inside the British and French Parliaments, and even the United Nations, as he announces it on the same day Banyure plans to go and sabotage Gatwick Airport records.
Searching Chin’ono’s public messages’ data, a repeating string of words flashes up; an algorithm is spotted popping out for several years since the 28th May 2020, when Chin’ono first suggested that he is the Daddy character who can fix all his country’s problems regarding corruption and political collapse. The string “the opposition will do nothing” is seen popping out on his Twitter account for 3 years running, in a suspicious fashion that seems too facilitatory for someone’s resume’ as Chin’ono later gets arrested by the same military government he is assisting to destroy the opposition and he is slapped with a dismissible police case titled “incitement to violence.” The timing of his many arrests that turn him into a persecuted anti corruption hero, while he remains engaged in military level corruption on behalf of the ministry of Defence in the same period 2018 up to his public statements on 5 July 2023 is curious, such that he is asked to prove that he is not a double agent disguised as a journalist.
Meanwhile, in a continuous 3 year running period, the “do nothing” text keeps popping out of his tweets right up to the day 14th April 2023, when while appearing as if he is criticising the Mnangagwa regime over the GoldMafia scandal, Google records a sharp collapse in search-interest for Africa’s most explosive investigation on election rigging gold smuggling. Working as a double agent, Chin’ono has achieved super Daddy status, and he has proven he can now easily crash news interest with a single tweet. Google records this achievement of powerful militarism.

The last role: Journalism, seems to be a subsidiary of the first three, making it a weak branch of the 3 corrupt roles rather than being a stand alone function serving the public good.

Journalism appears to be just a small fraction of his activities—less than 1%, as reflected in the extracted data.

These five roles paint a picture of a man with significant influence, if not total control over the minds of followers.

He’s more than just a journalist; he’s a super human, wielding the Daddy title akin to Puff Daddy in the U.S. or such Daddy characters.

Take the case of Jennifer Banyure.

On August 26, 2024, convinced by the impunity Chin’ono has demonstrated over the years, she is travelling to get her identity deleted from Gatwick Airport’s database.

She engages a hacker she arranges to meet in a Nottingham hotel, believing she is untouchable under Chin’ono’s guidance.

How Banyure follows Hopewell Chin’ono’s advice could reflect it either as clean objective journalistic commentary that the receiver can question with an open mind or as something else that is more powerful, possessive and abusive.

In the days running up to this meeting, her text messages with the hacker are totally void of any precaution or independent thinking that can critique Chin’ono’s propositions.

She is totally convinced that sabotaging Gatwick Airport’s databases is the best way to fix her identity fraud problem. Through this, she will be able to enter court in September without fear of being disqualified, exactly the same way Kaycee is planning another trafficking operation across Birmingham Airport which a victim reveals he is already working on. Like Chin’ono advised in writing be done, Banyure makes sure no one else knows except herself- she will only reveal her movements after crossing over to the other side of Gatwick Airport’s operations where she will never be discovered that she has two identities.

It is this influence that on this day Jennifer Banyure drives all the way to Nottingham’s St James Hotel; and here she is:

Hacker: So that’s the server, that we have access to inside the server. That’s why.

If you can come to a different angle.

So these are the documents classified so what you need to do is possibly, take a picture; aah good I was worried where is Jenny? Where is Jenny all along?

You don’t have to worry about anything.

Jennifer: I am so ignorant I don’t even know [the technicals of all this] what I have no idea.

Hacker: You don’t have to worry about anything. Take this one. I’m going to need to shred it.
So how is everyone?

Jennifer: Yeah, we are doing fine

You’re doing fine

Yeah, we are doing fine.

Hacker: You live in Derby; the good thing about Derby is it’s not too far.

Jennifer: No no no no. It’s actually that I came round and I was actually; the lady there said to me oh is this the hotel? I saw so many hotels the other side. So I went to that side.

Hacker: and then the other issue is are there not other things inside the database, like there is a child inside?

Jennifer: I came here in 1989. I came here a long time ago. I’ve never never used it anywhere never used it.

Hacker: So, there’s nothing else to worry about it’s actually a scored goal. LAUGH LAUGH LAUGH.

Is Cyclone Chido Bringing Relief or Terror to Zimbabwe?

By A Correspondent

Tropical Cyclone Chido is expected to reach Zimbabwe on Monday, bringing with it torrential rains and strong winds that could cause significant disruption.

The cyclone is forecast to impact Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Masvingo, Midlands, and Harare provinces, with winds averaging 50 kilometres per hour and heavy rainfall that could result in destruction.

Nathan Nkomo, director of the Civil Protection Unit (CPU), reassured the public on Friday that authorities were well-prepared for the impending cyclone.

“Cyclone Chido will bring much-needed rain, but, unfortunately, cyclones cause disasters,” Nkomo said.

“The cabinet has already approved our disaster response budget. We need to be prepared for this cyclone, so evacuation points in areas vulnerable to it are being set up.”

Nkomo emphasized that the authorities were activating all systems and were on high alert in regions likely to be affected by the cyclone. “We are on high alert in all areas where the cyclone is expected to hit,” he added.

Cyclone Chido made landfall in Mozambique early on Sunday, bringing fierce winds and heavy rainfall. The cyclone struck approximately 40 kilometres south of the northern city of Pemba, causing significant damage and disrupting communication.

Aderito Aramuge, director of Mozambique’s National Institute of Meteorology, confirmed the intensity of the cyclone.

“The cyclone is already affecting Pemba with a very strong intensity. We were monitoring the situation but there has been no communication with Pemba since 7 am (0500 GMT),” Aramuge reported.

Mnangagwa Snubs Mphoko Burial, Chooses Church Event Instead

By A Correspondent

President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, were notably absent from the burial of former vice president Phelekezela Mphoko in Bulawayo yesterday. Despite being in the city on the same day, Mnangagwa opted to attend the official opening of the Harvest House International Church instead.

In a statement, Mnangagwa expressed his honor in officiating at the church’s opening:
“I was honoured to officially open the Harvest House International Church and Conference Centre in Bulawayo. This facility is a milestone for the church and enhances Zimbabwe’s ability to host international conferences. May this centre serve as a beacon of faith, unity, and progress for our nation and beyond.”

The burial ceremony for Mphoko was overseen by Matebeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Richard Moyo, who also handed over the national flag to Mrs. Laurinda Mphoko on behalf of President Mnangagwa. Mphoko, who passed away on December 6, 2024, in India, was declared a national hero, though his family had expressed his wish to be buried in Bulawayo.

Military Intel Officer Nleya Killed Over VP Chiwenga?

The Mysterious Death of Hillary Nleya: A Call for Justice Ignites a Nation

By Lumbidzani Moyo Bango | The heart-wrenching story of Hillary Nleya, a dedicated member of the Zimbabwe Defence Counter Intelligence, ignites a fire for truth and justice in the wake of his tragic death. After going missing on November 21, 2024, Nleya’s body was found two weeks later, hanging from a tree in Figtree, Matabeleland South Province, casting a dark shadow over what initially appeared to be a straightforward case of suicide.

Last seen sitting on the lawn outside Redwood along Plumtree Road with colleagues suspected of being his workmates Nleya’s disappearance raised immediate alarms. Eyewitness accounts confirmed his presence, as one worker at Redwood recalled seeing him that day. However, what was striking was the unexplored CCTV footage that could have shed light on his last moments, seemingly ignored by police in their investigation. Despite reports filed by the Nleya family, initial police inaction only added to their anguish.

Investigations by relatives suggest that Nleya’s death could relate to his critical role as a footsoldier for Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, tasked with ensuring Bulawayo remained a safe haven for his political movements. Rumors spread among police intelligence circles indicating that Nleya’s connections had turned him into a target, possibly pointing to an assassination orchestrated by those he worked alongside.

In a disturbing twist, eyewitnesses unanimously ruled out suicide upon discovering Nleya’s body. It was found in a suspicious manner hanging from a tree with his feet still on the ground, leading many to believe that foul play was involved. Yet, in a move that bewildered and infuriated the family, military narratives began to push the idea that he had taken his own life.

During a recent parliamentary debate on the Death Penalty Abolition Bill, Senator Lwazi Sibanda, a cousin of Hillary Nleya, delivered an emotional plea that resonated with all who heard her. “I rise with a heavy heart. I am a woman, a mother, and a Senator of this country, yet I stand here with a cousin lying in the mortuary Hilary Nleya whom we searched for over two weeks, only to find him dead in Figtree. He was murdered by a person we do not yet know.”

Her words hit hard as she navigated the duality of advocating for justice while questioning the narrative pushed by military authorities. “I am a law-abiding citizen of this country. I respect the law and am grateful that we have a president who was spared from the death penalty,” she stated, balancing her sorrow with a commitment to the abolition of capital punishment.

As the investigation remains shrouded in uncertainty, the cries for justice grow louder. The Nleya family and the community at large demand accountability, citing provisions in the Zimbabwe Constitution that guarantee the right to life, free from unlawful deprivation (Section 48) and the right to access information held by the state (Section 62). Families of missing individuals are also entitled to “effective action by the police” under the Police Act, which further raises eyebrows over the lack of response in Nleya’s case.

Hillary Nleya’s tragic end has ignited a national debate about accountability, law enforcement’s responsibilities, and the need for transparency within the military. As Zimbabwe grapples with issues of governance and justice, Nleya’s story acts as a catalyst for change, haunted by the question: Why has the truth about his death remained elusive?

In a nation where voices are often silenced, the rallying cry for justice for Hillary Nleya reverberates through the hearts of many, insisting that no life should cut short without answers, and no voice should ever be silenced. The need for thorough investigations and the demands for justice echo not just for Nleya but for the fundamental rights owed to every citizen in Zimbabwe a clarion call that can no longer be ignored.

Mnangagwa Spy Agent In Mysterious Death

By Crime and Courts Reporter-A member of the Zimbabwe Military Intelligence, has died under unclear circumstances.

Hillary Nleya was reported missing last month after having been last seen at Redwood along the Plumtree-Bulawayo road.

His body was later discovered hanging from a tree in Figtree, Matabeleland South.

While law enforcement authorities are treating the case as a potential suicide, sources close to the investigation have linked his death to his work in military intelligence, raising speculation about foul play.

Zimbabwe Military Intelligence operates as a covert arm of the Zimbabwe National Army, tasked with managing high-level state security matters.

Its methods reportedly include eliminating individuals deemed security risks, with a chilling record of disappearances and killings.

The department is believed to have been involved in the disappearance of journalist and activist Itai Dzamara on March 9, 2015, whose fate remains unknown nearly a decade later.

Another infamous case tied to military intelligence is that of Rashiwe Guzha, a typist with the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) who disappeared in May 1990, amid reports of her romantic involvement with the late CIO Deputy Director Edson Shirihuru.

Shirihuru himself died in 1993 after vowing to reveal the truth behind Guzha’s disappearance if convicted in court.

Following the 2017 military coup that ousted President Robert Mugabe, President Emmerson Mnangagwa restructured the state security framework, sidelining the CIO, which he viewed as pro-Mugabe, and consolidated state security responsibilities under Zimbabwe Military Intelligence.

Critics have accused Mnangagwa of using this unit to target his perceived enemies and suppress dissent.

The mysterious death of Hillary Nleya has drawn public attention, particularly after his relative, Senator Lwazi Sibanda, who delivered an emotional address in Parliament.

Speaking during a debate on the Death Penalty Abolition Bill, Sibanda described Nleya’s death as a murder by unknown assailants.
“I rise with a heavy heart,” she said. “I am a woman, a mother, and a Senator of this country, yet I stand here with a cousin lying in the mortuary—Hillary Nleya—whom we searched for over two weeks, only to find him dead in Figtree. He was murdered by a person we do not yet know.”
The Senator recounted the anguish of planning her cousin’s burial while fulfilling her parliamentary duties. Nleya is to be buried in Dombodema, Plumtree.

In her address, Sibanda condemned the increasing violence in Zimbabwe, citing a recent case in which a family’s hut was burned down by unknown assailants while they were asleep inside.

She also lamented the challenges of forgiving perpetrators who show no remorse, highlighting the pain felt by families of murder victims.

Her remarks resonated with broader concerns about the state of law and order in Zimbabwe, where politically motivated killings and disappearances have long been a source of public fear and distrust.

Efforts to obtain a comment from the Zimbabwe National Army were unsuccessful.

Guvamatanga Fails To Provide Answers On How Sugar Tax Was Used

By A Correspondent| Government has amassed US$30.8 million from collection of special surtax levied on sugar content in beverages since its introduction early this year, in what authorities claimed as meant to raise financial resources to procure cancer treatment equipment.

George Guvamatanga, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion made the disclosure on Friday 13 December 2024, in a letter written to lawyers representing Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights (ZADHR), which had initially requested to be furnished with information detailing the total amount of sugar tax collected by government and how the financial resources had been utilised.

In its letter, which was written on 21 November 2024 to the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, ZADHR, which was represented by human rights lawyer, Precious Chakasikwa of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, asked the Professor Mthuli Ncube-led ministry to provide it with an account of how much special surtax on sugar content in beverages had been collected from 9 February 2024, when government gazetted the Customs and Excise (Tariff) (Amendment) Notice, 2024 (No. 5), which was published in Statutory Instrument 16 of 2024.

ZADHR also requested the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion to furnish it with an account of which cancer drugs and equipment had been procured since the introduction of the sugar tax and the list of hospitals to which these had been distributed to.

The doctor’s association made the request for access to the information in terms of the provisions of section 7 of the Freedom of Information Act and its request was aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.

In response to ZADHR’s letter, Guvamatanga on Friday 13 December 2024 disclosed that US$30.8 million of special surtax on sugar content in beverages has been collected as of November 2024.

Guvamatanga told ZADHR that the procurement of drugs and medical equipment is done under the purview of the Ministry of Health and Child Care and referred the doctors’ association to the Douglas Mombeshora-led ministry, saying his ministry is not a competent authority to give information about such a request.

In February 2024, government introduced a levy on sugary beverages claiming that this was aimed at discouraging people from consuming too much sugar, which it blamed for causing some forms of cancer.

Professor Ncube justified the introduction of the sugar tax as a response to growing concerns on the adverse effects of consumption of sugar, stating that the funds generated from the levy would be ring-fenced for therapy and procurement of cancer equipment.

Mfecane Fails To Pay Rent Despite Gumbooting Mnangagwa GoldMafia Dance

By Dorrothy Moyo | Breaking News: Tendayi Zinyama (Mfecane) Taken to Court Over Unpaid Rentals

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe — Tendayi Zinyama, widely known as Mfecane, has found himself at the center of controversy after being dragged to court for allegedly failing to pay rental arrears amounting to USD 1,090 or its ZWL equivalent. This development has sent shockwaves across the community, particularly given Zinyama’s vocal public displays of loyalty to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, often characterized by symbolic acts such as “worshipping” the leader with his trademark gumboots.

Tendai Zinyama

Details of the Case

The Letter of Demand, dated 12 December 2024, was issued by Kavalco Court (Pvt) Ltd, represented by Nondzashe Manjoni. The letter specifies that Zinyama has until 14 days from the date of receipt to settle the outstanding amount. Failure to comply will result in legal summons being issued in the Small Claims Court.

The arrears, accrued as of 15 November 2024, pertain to Office 1, Suite 5, Kavalco Court at 98 R. Mugabe Way, a central business address in Bulawayo. Despite being served with the notice, Zinyama’s response remains unclear as of press time.

Public Persona vs Financial Troubles

Tendayi Zinyama, a figure known for his vocal support of President Mnangagwa, has often garnered attention for his symbolic performances and speeches, where he dons gumboots as a gesture of reverence for Zimbabwe’s leadership. These actions have made him a prominent figure in political circles and social media.

However, this court case reveals a stark contrast to his public image. Critics have begun to question whether Zinyama’s performances mask deeper financial struggles or mismanagement.

Community Reactions

News of Zinyama’s legal troubles has sparked mixed reactions. Supporters have defended him, blaming economic hardships for the rental arrears, while detractors have seized on the opportunity to call out perceived hypocrisy.

A local observer commented:

“For someone who loudly praises leadership and the economy’s supposed growth, this is ironic. You can’t wear gumboots for Mnangagwa one day and fail to pay rent the next.”

Others have expressed sympathy, highlighting the challenges faced by small businesses and individuals due to Zimbabwe’s economic instability.

Legal Implications

The issuance of a demand letter under Section 22 of the Small Claims Court Act [Chapter 7:12] is a serious legal step. Should Zinyama fail to settle the amount, the matter will proceed to court, potentially leading to legal action, including property seizure or enforcement orders.

The Bigger Picture

This case underscores growing tensions in Zimbabwe’s economic and social landscape. While political symbolism continues to dominate public narratives, the reality of unpaid debts and economic struggles remains prevalent, even among outspoken supporters of the government.

As the deadline looms, all eyes will be on Zinyama to see whether he settles his dues or faces the full weight of the law.

Was Hwange Accident Driver Careless?

Did the Driver Intentionally Cause Fatal Accident in Hwange?

By Farai D Hove | Tragedy struck in Hwange last Thursday when a 29-year-old man, Blessing Tafadzwa Mhlanga, lost his life after being run over by a haulage truck while attempting to cross Ingagula Road. The driver of the truck, 32-year-old Emmanuel Muleya, has since been charged with culpable homicide, raising questions about the circumstances leading to the fatal accident.

The Incident

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 AM near Ash Dam. Muleya, driving a Howo tipper truck registered to Safast Logistics Hwange, allegedly did not see Mhlanga crossing the road. According to police reports, Muleya only realized his truck had hit something after the fact.

Mhlanga, who worked for a Chinese company in the Sino Hydro Living Camp, reportedly sustained severe injuries, including broken legs, and died on the spot. His body has been transferred to the Hwange Colliery Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The vehicle involved has been taken to the Central Vehicle Department for further inspection.

The Driver’s Account

Muleya’s statement to the authorities suggests the accident was unintentional. The driver claims he was unaware of Mhlanga’s presence and only discovered the impact when alerted. This version of events raises critical questions about visibility, road conditions, and the truck’s maintenance.

Was It Avoidable?

Analysts have begun to dissect the circumstances surrounding the accident, focusing on several key factors:

1. Driver’s Awareness: Muleya’s claim of not seeing Mhlanga points to possible issues with visibility or negligence. Was the curve along the road a blind spot, or was the driver inattentive?

2. Vehicle Maintenance: The truck’s condition is under investigation. Mechanical faults, such as braking or steering issues, could have contributed to the incident.

3. Road Safety Measures: The accident occurred along a curve on Chaba Road. Were adequate road signs or pedestrian crossings in place?

A Troubling Pattern?

This incident comes in the wake of another fatal accident involving a Chinese construction company truck last week, where two people died, and 52 were injured. The frequency of such accidents raises concerns about safety protocols in the region, particularly involving large vehicles operated by contractors.

Was It Intentional?

While there is no evidence to suggest that Muleya intentionally caused the accident, the charge of culpable homicide implies a degree of negligence. Whether this negligence stems from human error, poor vehicle maintenance, or inadequate infrastructure remains to be seen.

What’s Next?

The post-mortem results and findings from the Central Vehicle Department will be crucial in determining liability. If negligence is proven, it could lead to stricter safety regulations for haulage companies in Hwange.

For now, the tragic death of Blessing Tafadzwa Mhlanga is a stark reminder of the risks pedestrians face on roads shared with heavy vehicles. Whether this tragedy was preventable will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.

Zuma Is Sucking Out Both Malema And Ramaphosa

Analysis: Could Jacob Zuma’s MKP End Julius Malema’s EFF and Cyril Ramaphosa’s ANC?

By Dorrothy Moyo | As South Africa grapples with shifting political allegiances and economic instability, Jacob Zuma’s Umkhonto WeSizwe Party (MKP) has emerged as a disruptive force that could significantly alter the country’s political landscape. Zuma’s recent rally marking the MKP’s first anniversary, alongside Julius Malema’s incendiary comments in the Financial Times, signals a political showdown that could destabilize both the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the African National Congress (ANC).

Zuma’s Growing Influence

Zuma’s MKP, founded in 2023, has swiftly established itself as a formidable player in South African politics. Positioned as a party of “total liberation,” its platform emphasizes land redistribution, state-led economic transformation, and decolonized education. With its populist rhetoric and critiques of the ANC’s centrist policies, the MKP has attracted disillusioned ANC members and prominent defectors from the EFF, such as Floyd Shivambu and Dali Mpofu.

Shivambu recently described the MKP as a “superior alternative” to the EFF, which he criticized as a “small, unviable fiefdom.” His statement suggests that Zuma’s leadership is resonating with factions of the radical left who view Malema’s EFF as ineffective or overly centralized.

Malema’s Dismissal of Zuma

Malema, however, remains defiant. In an interview with the Financial Times, he rejected any possibility of uniting with the MKP, despite their shared goals of expropriating land without compensation and nationalizing mines and banks.

“To work with President Zuma is to stab yourself in the back because he’s not honest,” Malema said, accusing Zuma of using political allies only to discard them later. His remarks, which included vulgar and personal attacks, underscored deep animosity between the two leaders.

Malema also implied that defectors like Shivambu and Mpofu were attempting to “assassinate” the EFF by leaving the party. This rhetoric reflects the strain that the MKP’s rise has placed on Malema’s party, as internal divisions threaten its cohesion.

The ANC’s Decline

Meanwhile, the ANC under President Cyril Ramaphosa is grappling with its own crisis. Its share of the vote has plummeted to below 40%, forcing the once-dominant party into coalitions with opposition groups like the Democratic Alliance. Ramaphosa’s centrist policies and focus on economic stability have alienated factions within the party and the broader electorate.

Zuma’s criticism of the ANC’s failure to fulfill the promises of 1994—particularly on land reform and economic transformation—has struck a chord with many South Africans who feel left behind. By positioning the MKP as a revolutionary alternative, Zuma is challenging both the ANC’s centrist policies and the EFF’s claim to radical politics.

A Threat to Both the ANC and EFF?

Zuma’s MKP has the potential to disrupt South Africa’s political equilibrium in several ways:

  1. Weakening the ANC: By appealing to disenchanted ANC members, the MKP could siphon off support from the ruling party, particularly in rural and working-class areas where land reform and traditional leadership remain pivotal issues.
  2. Dividing the Radical Opposition: The MKP is already pulling high-profile defectors from the EFF, challenging Malema’s authority and fragmenting the radical left. If this trend continues, the EFF’s electoral base could shrink significantly.
  3. Positioning for 2024: With national elections looming in 2024, the MKP’s rapid growth suggests it could emerge as a kingmaker, particularly if no party secures an outright majority.

Zuma’s Legacy and the Road Ahead

Despite Malema’s assertion that Zuma cannot be trusted, the former president’s enduring influence cannot be dismissed. His ability to galvanize discontented factions within the ANC and EFF positions him as a critical player in South Africa’s evolving political landscape.

The rivalry between Zuma, Malema, and Ramaphosa reflects deeper fractures within South Africa’s political system. As the MKP gains momentum, the question remains: can Zuma translate his populist appeal into lasting political dominance, or will internal divisions and his controversial past hinder the MKP’s rise?

What is certain is that Zuma’s re-entry into frontline politics has already shaken South Africa’s political order. If his MKP continues to grow, it could spell the end for both the ANC as a dominant party and Malema’s EFF as the voice of radical opposition.

Mandaza Bus Catches Fire: Passengers Escape Unhurt

By A Correspondent

A devastating fire engulfed a Mandaza Bus Services coach on Sunday morning, destroying it completely.

The incident occurred at the 195-kilometre mark along the Harare-Masvingo road at approximately 10 AM.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the bus was travelling to Harare with 58 passengers on board when it developed a mechanical fault, leading to the blaze.

The ZRP confirmed the incident in a statement: “The ZRP confirms a fire incident involving a Mandaza bus which occurred at the 195-kilometre peg along Harare-Masvingo road on 15/12/24 at around 1000 hours. The bus, which was travelling towards Harare with 58 passengers on board, caught fire after developing a mechanical fault and was burnt to a shell. All passengers escaped unhurt.”

Fortunately, all passengers managed to escape without injury, thanks to swift evacuation efforts. The cause of the mechanical fault is still under investigation.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and safety checks to prevent such accidents.

Controversy Surrounds Mnangagwa’s Commissioning of Harvest House Church

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa has sparked controversy after commissioning the Harvest House International Church and Conference Centre in Bulawayo. Many view Mnangagwa’s hands as “dripping with blood” due to his complex and tumultuous past, raising questions about his suitability to officiate at the church’s opening.

Mnangagwa’s involvement in the ceremony has been met with skepticism, given his history of human rights abuses and suppression of opposition. His presidency has been marked by a crackdown on dissent, leading to widespread criticism from human rights groups and opposition parties.

Despite this, Mnangagwa expressed pride in opening the church, stating, “I was honoured to officially open the Harvest House International Church and Conference Centre in Bulawayo. This facility is a milestone for the church and enhances Zimbabwe’s ability to host international conferences. May this centre serve as a beacon of faith, unity, and progress for our nation and beyond.”

Critics argue that Mnangagwa’s presence at the ceremony undermines the church’s values and message. They point to his role in the Gukurahundi massacres, which claimed thousands of lives, and his involvement in suppressing opposition during his tenure as Vice President under Robert Mugabe.

The controversy surrounding Mnangagwa’s commissioning of the Harvest House Church highlights the complex and often fraught relationship between politics and religion in Zimbabwe. As the country navigates its turbulent past and uncertain future, the intersection of faith and politics remains a contentious issue.

Former VP Mphoko Laid to Rest in Bulawayo, Defying National Heroes Acre Tradition

By A Correspondent

In a move that has raised eyebrows, national hero and former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has been laid to rest at his plot in Douglasdale, just outside Bulawayo, contrary to the traditional burial at the National Heroes Acre.

This decision was made in accordance with Mphoko’s wishes, as revealed by his family.

Mphoko, who passed away at the age of 84 in India while receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment, was declared a national hero by the government. However, his family disclosed that he had expressed his desire to be buried at his plot, rather than the national shrine where many of his contemporaries are laid to rest.

This decision is not unprecedented, as several liberation war heroes have also opted out of being buried at the National Heroes Acre. Notable examples include former President Robert Mugabe, who was ousted in a military coup in 2017, and former ministers Welshman Mabhena and Dumiso Dabengwa, who also chose to be buried elsewhere .

Observers have pointed out that Mphoko’s decision may be linked to the complex politics surrounding his tenure and the circumstances of his departure from office. Some have suggested that Mphoko’s reluctance to be buried at the National Heroes Acre may be a reflection of his feelings towards President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who seized power after overthrowing Mugabe.

Regardless of the motivations behind Mphoko’s decision, his burial in Bulawayo marks a significant departure from tradition.

As Zimbabwe continues to grapple with its complex history and politics, Mphoko’s legacy will undoubtedly be remembered as a testament to the country’s ongoing struggle for identity and reconciliation.

Wolves Dismiss Coach

Sports Correspondent

Wolverhampton Wanderers have parted ways with head coach Gary O’Neil following a dismal run of results, including a crushing 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town at Molineux. This loss left Wolves second from bottom in the Premier League table, a staggering four points from safety.

O’Neil’s tenure was marked by significant challenges, including the sale of key players like captain Max Kilman and star winger Pedro Neto. Despite committing £28 million to sign striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and several prospects, the club’s trajectory has been concerning.

Key Factors Leading to O’Neil’s Departure:

  1. Poor Results: Wolves secured only nine points from 16 games, with four consecutive defeats.
  2. Tactical Missteps: O’Neil’s tactics were questioned, particularly his use of inexperienced players in critical positions.

Close to 1,000 People Feared Dead After Cyclone in French Territory of Mayotte

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Intense Tropical Cyclone Chidois a small but powerful tropical cyclone currently making landfall in Mozambique. The fourth tropical disturbance, the second tropical cyclone, and the second intense tropical cyclone of the 2024–25 South-West Indian Ocean cyclone season, Chido formed from a tropical disturbance southeast of Diego Garcia that was first noted on 5 December 2024.

It continued westward, and steadily intensified before being named Chido on 8 December. After it underwent rapid intensification, Chido made landfall at Agaléga in Mauritius on 11 December, peaking in intensity the following day. After passing through northern Madagascar, Chido briefly weakened but quickly regained intensity, before making its second landfall near Bandraboua, Mayotte on 14 December, before slightly weakening again later that day and making a third landfall near Pemba, Mozambique the following day; Chido made all three of its landfalls as a Category 4-equivalent intense tropical cyclone.
Cyclone Chido has also caused extensive damage in nearby islands Comoros and Madagascar, as well as Mozambique.

Close to 1,000 people may have been killed after Cyclone Chido hit the French territory of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean, the island’s top official has said.

Mayotte Prefect Francois-Xavier Bieuville told local TV station la 1ere: “I think there are some several hundred dead, maybe we’ll get close to a thousand, even thousands… given the violence of this event.”
He said it was currently “extremely difficult” to get an exact number.
Officials had confirmed at least 11 deaths in Mayotte earlier on Sunday but said that was expected to increase.

Cyclone Chido caused extensive damage on Saturday, with nearby islands of Comoros and Madagascar also affected as it blew through the southeastern Indian Ocean.

Forecaster Meteo-France said it was the strongest storm in more than 90 years to hit the islands.
Winds of more than 136mph ripped roofs off houses and destroyed buildings in Mayotte.

Entire neighbourhoods were flattened, while residents reported many trees had been uprooted and boats had been flipped or sunk.

The main airport and hospital also suffered major damage, the new French prime minister Francois Bayrou said.
He added many people living in precarious shacks in slum areas have faced very serious risks.

One hospital in Mayotte reported that nine people were in critical condition and another 246 others were injured.
But France’s interior ministry said it was proving difficult to get a precise tally of the dead and injured – though interior minister Bruno Retailleau feared the number killed “will be high”.

The ministry said 1,600 police and gendarmerie officers have been deployed, alongside rescuers and firefighters from Mayotte and the nearby territory of Reunion. Supplies were also being rushed in on military aircraft and ships.

Mayotte has a population of just over 300,000 spread over two main islands about 500 miles off Africa’s east coast.

It is France’s poorest region and has struggled with drought, underinvestment, and gang violence for decades.

Cyclone Chido has now made landfall in Mozambique on the African mainland, where the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said Cabo Delgado province, home to around two million people, had been hit hard.
“Many homes, schools and health facilities have been partially or completely destroyed and we are working closely with government to ensure continuity of essential basic services,” the organisation said.
“While we are doing everything we can, additional support is urgently needed.”

UNICEF Mozambique spokesman Guy Taylor said in a video that communities now face the prospect of being cut off from schools and health facilities for weeks.

Malawi and Zimbabwe have also made emergency plans, with both countries warning they may have to evacuate people from low-lying areas due to flooding.

December through March is cyclone season in the southeastern Indian Ocean, and southern Africa has been pummelled by a series of strong ones in recent years.

Cyclone Idai in 2019 killed more than 1,300 people in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe while Cyclone Freddy left more than 1,000 dead across several countries last year.

The cyclones bring the risk of flooding and landslides, but also stagnant pools of water may later spark deadly outbreaks of the waterborne disease cholera as well as dengue fever and malaria.
Studies say the cyclones are getting worse because of climate change. They can leave poor countries in southern Africa, which contribute a tiny amount to global warming, having to deal with large humanitarian crises – underlining their call for more help from rich nations to deal with the impact of climate change.

Security of Betting and Transactions on 1win South Africa Website

Online casino 1 Win has become very popular recently. This is primarily due to the fact that it provides its players with a high level of entertainment and fun, which is available at any time and almost anywhere in the world. All you need is a constant internet connection and you can be transported to the world of gambling.

Naturally, such activity at 1win online involves financial transactions, which are an integral element of playing for real money. The same applies to the provision of data that is required when registering a user account. Therefore, the security of bank transactions as well as the personal information of 1win South Africa users must play a key role.

Encryption

When it comes to data encryption, it is one of the most important security measures used at 1win. This special technology encrypts all important data that is sent from players’ computers and mobile devices to the online casino operator’s servers. It helps the information become unreadable to outsiders who would like to intercept it. In this way, passwords, bank and personal data are protected from being leaked or attempted to be stolen by hackers who could use them to commit various online crimes.

Secure Payment Gateways

Payment gateways are another key security measure used by 1win South Africa casinos to protect the financial information of their players. These payment gateways are nothing more than purpose-built online payment platforms through which players can securely transfer and withdraw funds to and from their online casino user account. The 1win operator co-operates with leading manufacturers and suppliers of online financial payment products.

Fraud Detection and Prevention Systems

1win online also has specialised and high-tech systems for fraud detection and prevention. This is designed to provide casino users with protection against fraudulent activities such as bank account theft, identity theft and other payment card related crimes. These systems use special machine learning techniques and algorithms to analyse players’ actions and behaviour. They are designed to detect suspicious activities that may indicate potential criminal and fraudulent methods of extortion or money laundering.

Strict Safety Policies and Procedures

The strict security procedures and regulations applicable to 1win are another important measure that the operator utilises. This is necessary, of course, to protect personal and financial data. These rules define exactly how users’ personal data is collected, processed and stored. Thanks to this, only special people authorised by the casino have access to this type of information, and the data itself is protected using advanced encryption technology.

As part of additional security measures, the operator requires authentication of your identity during the user account registration procedure. This is done by verifying your identity document by sending a valid passport or photo ID. In addition, account passwords must also be as strong as possible.

Why Choose a Licensed Casino

Playing for money is always a risk, but it should be considered and safe. After all, the casino is not only a chance to win, but also a chance to lose money. Playing machines, the client can risk not only money, but also:

  • personal information;
  • with a bank account;

In order for the user to be sure that personal data is protected, it is necessary to choose a legal gambling establishment 1win, because the licence provides security guarantees. In addition, the use of SSL encryption algorithms allows you to save personal data of players without risk. The licence enables the casino to operate safely and honestly. It also improves the reputation of the establishment.

To ensure the highest level of security, the 1win operator uses a variety of advanced measures including encryption technology, secure payment gateways, fraud detection and prevention systems, strict security policies and procedures, and complies with regulatory and licensing requirements.

KG6 Fire Unearths Election Rigging Scam

By Political Reporter – A fire at the KG6 Army Headquarters, now Josiah Magama Tongogara Barracks, early Sunday has ignited fears of sabotage linked to Zimbabwe’s controversial election rigging machinery.

The blaze, confirmed by Colonel Alphios Makotore, Director of Army Public Relations, broke out at around 2:50 am, damaging several offices.

“We regret to inform the public that a fire has broken out at the Army Headquarters administrative complex, resulting in damage to some offices,” Col. Makotore said in a statement.

However, insiders allege the fire may have been deliberate, with suspicions pointing to disgruntled personnel within the army.

The barracks are notorious for their role in election manipulation, with sources revealing that passports, IDs, and ballot papers are secretly printed and administered there by senior army officials closely tied to Zanu PF’s election rigging apparatus.

“The fire could have been an inside job by individuals fed up with the regime,” one source speculated.

The incident has triggered a witch hunt, with middle-ranked officers reportedly under investigation for possible involvement in the arson attack.

This development has further exposed the military’s profoundly entrenched role in securing Zanu PF’s grip on power through clandestine operations at KG6.

For years, Zimbabwe’s elections have been marred by allegations of military interference, voter suppression, and rigging.

The fire at the heart of the army’s operations raises serious questions about the lengths to which the regime will go to maintain control and the growing discontent within its ranks.

This is a developing story, and more updates will follow as investigations continue.

Zim Granny In Viral Degrading Video

By Showbiz Reporter – A Zimbabwean granny has admitted to engaging in a controversial intimate encounter involving herself, a man, and her friend, an act commonly referred to as a threesome.

The unnamed woman detailed the events in a viral video that has ignited heated public discourse and condemnation.

Narrating the incident, she explained:
“We met a man who had booked a hotel for us. He said he was interested in my friend, Milan, from Malawi. I asked, ‘What about my friend—will she be left alone?’ Eventually, the three of us were involved. He paid each of us separately.”
She continued:
“There were two beds, but he pushed them together and slept in the middle. What happened was consensual, and I made my own decisions. It wasn’t in front of kids.”

The video’s release has drawn widespread criticism for the casual tone in which the events were described, particularly since the hotel booking took place during a funeral.

While some social media users have labelled the story as shocking and inappropriate, others have raised concerns about the impact of explicit content circulating online and have called for measures to address such issues.

Authorities have yet to comment, but the incident has sparked broader discussions around personal responsibility, morality, and the role of social media in spreading sensitive content.

This is a developing story; updates will follow.

Tourist Goes Missing In Matopos National Park

By Tourism Reporter-The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) has announced the disappearance of an 18-year-old tourist in the iconic Matopos National Park.

ZimParks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo confirmed the incident via a tweet.

He said a search operation involving ZimParks rangers and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is underway.

The terse announcement refrained from revealing the tourist’s nationality, adding an air of mystery to the case. Farawo’s tweet read:

“An 18-year-old tourist is missing in Matopos National Park. @Zimparks reaction team & @PoliceZimbabwe are currently searching for him.”

The disappearance has raised questions about the safety of visitors in Zimbabwe’s national parks, which are renowned for their rugged terrain and diverse wildlife. While such incidents are rare, they underscore the potential risks of exploring the untamed wilderness.

Matopos National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its dramatic granite formations, ancient rock art, and thriving wildlife.

However, its expansive, rocky landscape presents challenges, including disorientation, falls, and encounters with wildlife.

Speculation about the missing tourist’s fate ranges from accidental injury to the possibility of encountering dangerous animals, such as leopards or snakes, which inhabit the park.

While no foul play has been suggested so far, park officials and law enforcement are leaving no stone unturned in their search.

This incident is likely to reignite discussions around safety protocols for tourists in Zimbabwe’s national parks.

Experts have long recommended stricter monitoring of visitors, mandatory use of experienced guides, and enhanced communication tools for emergencies.

As the search operation continues, the world watches with concern, hoping for the safe recovery of the young visitor.

Tourists and locals alike are urged to exercise caution and follow safety guidelines when venturing into Zimbabwe’s wilderness.

Authorities have yet to release further details.

Families and communities with ties to the tourist are anxiously awaiting updates on the unfolding situation.

Safety Tips For Cyclists

When it comes to cycling, safety should always be a top priority. One often overlooked yet crucial element of a cyclist’s safety gear is the tail light or reflector. Just as vehicle tail lights play an essential role in helping drivers see each other, bicycle tail lights and reflectors are vital for ensuring cyclists are visible to other road users, especially from behind.

Enhanced Visibility in Low Light Conditions

Cyclists often ride during dawn, dusk, or at night, when visibility is reduced. Tail lights and reflectors are designed to make a cyclist visible to others, reducing the risk of accidents. Tail lights are particularly effective in low-light conditions or when there is limited visibility, such as on poorly lit roads or in foggy weather. The bright light emitted by tail lights ensures that cyclists can be easily spotted by motorists, fellow cyclists, and pedestrians, even from a distance.

Reflectors, on the other hand, work by bouncing back light from other vehicles. Even without a battery-powered light source, these small, reflective devices can help you stand out in the dark, as they are designed to catch headlights from other vehicles and send that light back in the direction it came from.

Reducing Accidents and Enhancing Road Safety

Bicycle accidents, particularly rear-end collisions, are a significant concern for cyclists. Since they often ride in areas where traffic is moving faster or on roads without dedicated bike lanes, the risk of being overlooked by a driver is high. Bicycle tail lights and reflectors act as a clear signal that a cyclist is present on the road, alerting drivers to slow down, pass safely, and keep a safe distance. This can make a huge difference in preventing accidents and ensuring the cyclist’s safety.

In addition to rear visibility, these lights and reflectors also help to highlight the cyclist’s position on the road, making it easier for vehicles to predict their movement and avoid close encounters. For cyclists who ride in groups, having properly working tail lights can prevent dangerous situations where riders are missed by other road users.

Legal Requirements and Best Practices

In many places, having a tail light or reflector on a bicycle is not just a safety measure but a legal requirement. Laws often mandate that cyclists use lights and reflectors when riding at night or in low-light conditions to ensure visibility. In some regions, the law stipulates that the rear light should be red, and the reflector must be positioned in a specific area to maximize visibility. It’s important for cyclists to familiarize themselves with local regulations and ensure they are complying with safety standards.

Choosing the Right Tail Light or Reflector

When selecting a tail light, cyclists should consider factors such as brightness, battery life, and mounting options. LED lights are often the best choice, as they are energy-efficient and can emit a bright beam visible from far away. USB rechargeable models are also a popular option for those who want to reduce battery waste.

For reflectors, it’s crucial to ensure they are correctly positioned on the back of the bicycle and are made from high-quality reflective materials. Some cyclists opt for both a tail light and additional reflectors to provide maximum visibility from different angles.

Conclusion

Tail lights and reflectors are not just accessories but essential components of cycling safety. By increasing visibility to other road users, they play a vital role in preventing accidents and ensuring cyclists can ride with greater confidence and security. Whether you’re cycling through city streets or on quiet rural roads, make sure your bike is equipped with these critical safety features.

Name Of ZAOGA Pastor Caught Pants Revealed

By Religion Reporter- The senior ZAOGA pastor who was fired following allegations of multiple extramarital affairs with married female congregants, as well as other acts of misconduct, has been identified as Joel Chabume Chinhema.

The Bindura-based Overseer, Joel Chabume Chinhema, was recently fired after a woman from Rusape reported him to the church’s headquarters in Harare for neglecting the two children they share.

The scandal deepened when another woman accused Chinhema of sexual harassment, claiming he had sent her explicit nude photos.

During questioning, the pastor confessed to his misdeeds, leading to his dismissal.

However, the case has sparked outrage across the church as more allegations of misconduct surfaced.

Chinhema, who previously pastored at a city-centre church in Bulawayo, allegedly left a trail of misconduct.

Several women, including widows, divorcees, and unmarried congregants, have come forward claiming he made inappropriate advances, including late-night visits and sending lewd photos.

Despite these allegations, some cases were suppressed, reportedly due to his support from Atoria Gudyanga, the then-Overseer in Bulawayo.

This scandal has reignited longstanding concerns about corruption and immorality within ZAOGA’s leadership.

Allegations have surfaced that some senior pastors, including members of the church’s Transferring Board, exploit their positions to prey on pastors’ wives in exchange for promotions or transfers to lucrative assignments, including postings abroad.

One such case allegedly involves a pastor recently transferred to the UK after his wife fell victim to this abuse of power.

Reports also suggest that promotions within ZAOGA have become transactional.

Since 2017, aspiring Overseers allegedly pay $1,000, while District Pastor promotions cost $500.

Merit-based appointments appear to have been replaced by bribes and favouritism, prompting non-compromising pastors to leave the church in frustration.

These revelations point to a systemic culture of corruption and exploitation within ZAOGA, particularly among members of the Transferring Board.

ZimEye is currently finalising a year-long investigation into the church’s top leadership, which promises to uncover more cases of hidden immorality and corruption.

ZAOGA church and Overseer Chinhema have not yet commented on these allegations as they are unreachable.

Mnangagwa Throws Lavish Party for Wife Amid Economic Struggles

By A Correspondent

In a move that has sparked widespread debate, Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, hosted a lavish celebration in Chiweshe on Saturday to honor his wife, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, after she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the Midlands State University. The extravagant event, featuring speeches, performances, and an air of opulence, drew attention not only for its lavish nature but also for the stark contrast it presented against the backdrop of the country’s deepening economic crisis.

As Zimbabwe grapples with soaring inflation, unemployment, and shortages of basic goods, many citizens and political commentators are questioning the timing and necessity of such a grand celebration.

The country is enduring one of its most challenging economic periods in recent history, with ordinary Zimbabweans struggling to make ends meet amid escalating prices and a deteriorating standard of living.

While the first family’s celebration was seen as an occasion to mark Dr. Mnangagwa’s academic achievement, critics have raised concerns about the growing disconnect between the elite’s ostentatious displays of wealth and the reality faced by millions of Zimbabweans. “It is disappointing to see such a lavish display of wealth when the majority of the population is suffering from the consequences of government policies and economic mismanagement,” said one political analyst.

Adding to the controversy, some academics have questioned the authenticity of Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa’s PhD.

There are claims that the research and work required for the degree may not meet the rigorous standards expected of such a prestigious academic award. Critics argue that the rapid conferment of the degree and the lack of transparency surrounding her academic journey could undermine the credibility of the award.

In response, the First Lady has maintained that her academic pursuit was legitimate and that she worked diligently for her qualifications, emphasizing the importance of education in empowering individuals, especially women.

Despite these assertions, skepticism remains among various academic circles, with some raising questions about whether political connections played a role in her academic success.

The lavish party and the ensuing controversy come at a time when the country’s leadership is under increasing scrutiny for its handling of the economy and social issues.

The stark contrast between the elite’s celebratory events and the suffering of ordinary Zimbabweans has raised uncomfortable questions about priorities.

While the Mnangagwa family’s celebration may have been intended to showcase the First Lady’s personal accomplishment, it has inadvertently highlighted the growing divide between Zimbabwe’s ruling class and its citizens.

As Zimbabwe continues to battle economic hardships, many will be watching closely to see how the government addresses the concerns of its people.

The Mnangagwa family’s opulent celebration serves as a stark reminder of the deepening political and economic divisions that threaten to further alienate the country’s leadership from the very citizens they govern.

Prominent Kadoma Businessman Gunned Down

By Crime and Courts Reporter- A Prominent Kadoma businessman and farmer, Eric Tambudze was assasinated in a gold mafia that has implicated Zanu PF, Gokwe Kabuyuni Member of Parliament, Spencer Tshuma.

Tambudze, a well-respected entrepreneur involved in farming, pharmaceuticals, gold mining, and retail, was fatally shot at his Kadoma home in early November.

His son, Leslie, confirmed the tragic event, stating, “My father was shot dead upon arriving home from work last Friday.”

Police have acknowledged the case and are actively investigating, though no arrests have been made so far.

Sources close to the matter allege that Tshuma, a prominent businessman himself, hired hitmen from South Africa to execute Tambudze following a heated land dispute.

Tshuma, who owns Spencer Fuels—a fuel station on the outskirts of Kadoma—had reportedly seized land near his business for expansion.

The land, however, legally belonged to Tambudze, who successfully contested the fraudulent acquisition in court.

Despite the legal ruling in Tambudze’s favour, Tshuma is said to have refused to relinquish the property.

Construction had already begun, escalating tensions between the two men.

Following his court defeat, Tshuma allegedly resorted to violence, hiring hitmen to resolve the matter permanently.

The murder has shocked the Kadoma community and reignited public scrutiny of Zanu PF officials often linked to gold smuggling syndicates and illicit land deals.

Tshuma himself is rumoured to have deep connections to Zimbabwe’s gold mafia, a network accused of laundering money and exploiting the country’s natural resources.

Efforts to reach Tshuma for comment were unsuccessful, as his phone remained unreachable.

Elderly Zimbabwean Woman Admits to Role in Viral Controversial Video

By A Correspondent | Harare, Zimbabwe – An elderly Zimbabwean woman has admitted to being involved in a shocking incident that has caused a major stir on social media. The woman, who remains unnamed, confessed to participating in an act that has sparked widespread debate and outrage.

Narrating the events, the woman explained:

“We found a certain coloured person who had booked a hotel for us. He said he wanted my friend, Milan, who is from Malawi. I asked, ‘What will happen to my friend? She will be alone?’ This man had booked the hotel for us during a funeral. So, in the end, the three of us were involved together. He paid both of us separately, per person.”

She added further details about the encounter:

“There were two beds because we wanted to sleep apart, but he put them together into one and then slept in the middle. It happened. I did it myself. The things I did, I wasn’t doing them in front of kids.”

The video of the woman recounting these events has gone viral, prompting public outcry. Many have criticized the casual manner in which the incident was described, particularly given the circumstances surrounding the hotel booking during a funeral.

While some on social media have dismissed the story as bizarre, others are calling for accountability, especially in light of the video’s disturbing impact online.

Authorities have not commented on the situation, but debates about personal responsibility, morality, and the impact of explicit content on social platforms continue to escalate.

This is a developing story. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.

Exploring Facial Similarities Between Two Individuals: A Closer Look

It is important to approach discussions about relationships and appearances with respect, empathy, and sensitivity. Suggesting that two people cannot be romantically involved simply because they look alike can reinforce harmful stereotypes or assumptions that lack validity. Many couples might share similar physical features, whether due to shared ethnicity, regional heritage, or coincidental similarities. These traits do not necessarily imply a familial or non-romantic connection. People often connect on deeper emotional, intellectual, and spiritual levels that transcend physical appearances. Moreover, facial resemblance between individuals can be subjective and influenced by bias or perception. It’s crucial to refrain from using appearance alone as a metric for questioning relationships, as doing so can diminish the authenticity and depth of human connections.– ZimEye
