What Is Tailgating?

Drivers should always maintain a safe following distance, ensuring they do not tailgate or follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent. This distance should be determined by factors such as the speed of the vehicles, traffic conditions, and the state of the road.

Many rear-end collisions occur because drivers follow too closely, not allowing enough time to react in case of sudden stops or changes in traffic. Maintaining a safe distance can prevent such accidents and ensure safer driving for everyone on the road.

35 Children Die At Christmas Fanfair

Parents of missing children-BBC

Nigeria- Police in Ibadan have confirmed the death of 35 children in a crash at a Christmas funfair in the south-western city, with six others hospitalised.

The organisers had promised to give cash handouts and food, but so many people turned up that there was a crush as they struggled to gain entry.

Residents said that over 5,000 children had gathered at the venue and the crush occurred when the main organisers arrived to start the event.

The sequence of events leading to the crush has not been disclosed.

The police say they have arrested eight people who were behind the event, including the main organiser, Naomi Silekunola, a well-known figure in the city.

President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the parents who have lost their children, and ordered a thorough investigation.

The Oyo state government said victims had been taken to hospitals across Ibadan for treatment after the crush at the Islamic High School in the city’s Bashorun district.

Authorities have urged parents who are concerned about the whereabouts of their children to check at the city’s hospitals.

Medics in one hospital told the BBC that six children had been admitted but only two survived – four had died.
At another hospital, a doctor who declined to be named said he had counted three dead bodies.

Some affected parents told journalists that they had accompanied their children to converge at the venue of the “End of the Year Christmas funfair” as early as 05:00 on Wednesday – five hours before the event was due to start.

They were hoping to get some money and food as the organisers had promised to give out 5,000 naira each (about £2.50; $3) to 5,000 children as well as make free food available to attendees.

Nigeria is grappling with its worst economic crisis in a generation, which explains why more than 10,000 people reportedly turned up for the event.

There have been several similar incidents this year.

In March, two female students were crushed to death at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, near the capital Abuja, when a rice distribution programme by the state governor caused a crowd surge.

At least 23 people were injured.

Three days later in the northern state of Bauchi, at least seven people died in another crush when a philanthropist and businessman was giving handouts of 5,000 naira.

Earlier in February, five people were reported killed in Lagos when the Nigerian Customs Service auctioned seized bags of rice.

A crowd surge for bags of rice being auctioned for about $7:00 led to the trampling to death of five people with dozens more injured.

WestProp Dishes Out Christmas Presents To Loyal Clients

By Business Reporter-The live, work, shop and play customer-centric Westprop Holdings is offering its residential property customers at Pomona City the opportunity of a lifetime to pay a 50 per cent deposit for their brick requirements and enjoy a two-year instalment payment.

The company is setting up a US$1 million brick moulding company to assist in the realisation of the one billion bricks vision by 2050 and to speed development after encountering delays in brick delivery and, at times, standard bricks.

Of all its development projects so far – only customers at Pomona City are building their own homes, while at other developments, the company is offering complete turn-key products.

Only 29 residential stands remain at Pomona phases 1B & C and 1A out of the initial 765 ahead of the introduction of the exciting leasehold concept next year.

The brick factory is designed to supply bricks to WestProp projects, and with growth, the company will then be able to supply excess bricks to “outside customers”.

Chief executive officer Mr Ken Sharpe says the new venture is in response to market delays in delivering bricks to the company’s construction sites and a quest to manage brick quality.

“As of March, next year, we start production. Those bricks are pre-sold. They are going to our customers. Our customers will pay a 50 percent deposit and pay the balance in instalments over two years,” he said.

The initiative is meant to incentivise the customers to build and not be burdened by paying lump sums towards the bricks and then failing to buy other building materials.
The purchase price of $0.14 a brick will include transportation costs to the building site.

Speaking at a Christmas and excellence recognition awards ceremony for WestProp employees, Mr Sharpe stressed the concept of urgency in service delivery to meet customer expectations.

He rallied the employees to embrace the one billion brick vision, adding that “their hands” would be imprinted on the achievements of the vision.

“Whatever we do with the billion bricks stands forever. For the test of time,” he said.

Mr Sharpe reiterated his love for Zimbabwe, noting that he formed the company to make a difference and provide livelihoods for thousands of people whose value chain depends on WestProp.
“I set up this business to be a public company. Not to enrich myself. I have enough money. I set it up so that you can benefit from it,” he said.

MR Sharpe challenged the employees to introspect and inspire themselves to achieve more for the company.

The plant that will manufacture WestProp branded bricks.
“Our plant will be operational in 2025. We are targeting to do our first installations of new equipment in January and February. Initially the plant’s output will be directed exclusively to our Harare projects,” he said.
“The land we own requires one billion bricks which translates to US$5 billion to build. We want to be able to meet our own deadlines in terms of construction timelines,” he says.

WestProp has been on a drive to self-resource by purchasing yellow machines and other capital-intensive equipment to avoid hiring and delays in completing work.

WestProp are the developers of Pomona City, Pokugara, Millennium Heights, The Hills Luxury Golf Estate, the soon-to-be-built Mall of Zimbabwe and the upcoming branded apartment hotel at Millennium Heights (block 5).

The company’s developments embody the live, work, shop, and play themes, which have quickly become the signature selling point of all its products.

Mnangagwa’s Agricultural Revival Claims Seen Mere Gimmicking

By A Correspondent

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s promises to revive Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector have been met with skepticism, with many critics labeling his recent efforts as political gimmicks rather than genuine steps towards transformation.

On Friday, Mnangagwa launched the Land Tenure Implementation Programme at Precabe Farm in Kwekwe, a new initiative he claims will rejuvenate the agricultural sector. During the event, he handed over Land Tenure Deeds to farmers, describing the move as a milestone in Zimbabwe’s agricultural progress.

However, opposition leaders and critics have dismissed the programme as an attempt to distract from the country’s ongoing agricultural challenges. “This is nothing more than a political stunt. For years, the country’s agricultural sector has suffered from poor policy implementation and lack of support, and this programme won’t change that,” one political analyst remarked.

In a statement during the event, Mnangagwa said, “Today, I officially launched the new Land Tenure Implementation Programme at Precabe Farm in Kwekwe, where I also handed over Land Tenure Deeds to Zimbabwean farmers. This milestone is a critical step in transforming our agricultural sector, enabling farmers to access credit facilities, purchase inputs, and hire labour.

These tools will enhance agricultural production, improve yields, and uplift our people from poverty into prosperity.”

Despite the president’s optimism, many are doubtful that these measures will lead to significant improvements. “The land reform process has been poorly managed for years, and handing over deeds now won’t fix the systemic issues that have plagued farming in Zimbabwe,” said a critic of the programme.

Mnangagwa also highlighted that the programme reflects his government’s commitment to inclusive growth, focusing on marginalized groups such as war veterans, women, and youth. “This programme reflects the Second Republic’s commitment to inclusive growth, ensuring that war veterans, women, and the youth are not left behind in this transformative journey,” he added.

While the president continues to champion agriculture as key to national development, his critics argue that the lack of tangible reforms over the years has made such promises seem increasingly far-fetched. “Farming has always been close to my heart, and I am proud to support this initiative, which will create opportunities for sustainable commercial agriculture and attract investment into our economy,” Mnangagwa said, but many believe that the focus should be on practical support for farmers, not just promises.

As Zimbabwe grapples with food insecurity and economic challenges, the real impact of this initiative remains to be seen. Many are calling for more than just ceremonial gestures, urging real action to revive the sector and restore confidence among farmers.

“Together, we are building a thriving agricultural sector that drives Zimbabwe’s development and secures food security for future generations,” Mnangagwa concluded, but for many, these words appear to be more hopeful rhetoric than a concrete plan.

Is Auxillia Mnangagwa Giving Away ZIMRA-Seized Goods As Donations?

By A Correspondent

Impeccable government sources have raised concerns about the source of the goods being donated by First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa. Allegations have surfaced suggesting that some of the items she has given away may have been confiscated by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), sparking questions about the transparency of her philanthropic efforts.

On December 19, 2024, the office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution announced that Mrs. Mnangagwa had donated 300 food hampers to the elderly in Gweru, a gesture described as part of her commitment to supporting vulnerable communities during the festive season.

“In Gweru on 19 December 2024, Honourable Owen Ncube, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands, handed over 300 food hampers to the elderly at the Gweru Government Complex. The hampers, donated by the First Lady of Zimbabwe, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa, underscore her commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind during the festive season,” a government official stated in a press release.

However, sources within government circles have suggested that some of the items included in these hampers could have been seized by ZIMRA, raising concerns about the appropriateness of using such goods for charitable purposes. “While her intentions may be good, the public deserves to know the origin of these goods. If they were taken by ZIMRA due to non-compliance with import regulations, it raises questions about the ethical use of such items,” one government insider commented, requesting anonymity.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding the exact source of the goods donated by the First Lady. Critics argue that using goods seized by ZIMRA for charity may undermine the integrity of the donations and contribute to a lack of transparency in public affairs.

Despite these concerns, Mrs. Mnangagwa’s supporters have continued to praise her charitable work, particularly her focus on the elderly, a group often neglected in society. “The First Lady’s donations have been a blessing to many in need. It’s crucial that we focus on the positive impact of her initiatives,” said a government spokesperson.

The controversy surrounding the origin of the donated goods continues to raise questions about the broader implications of using confiscated goods in charity, and whether it might lead to a reassessment of how such donations are handled in the future.

Bruce Kisimusi, 25, was arrested by police on December 17, 2024, in connection with the killing of his brother-in-law, Mthembisi Sibanda.

According to reports, the suspect brutally attacked Sibanda at Gababe Business Centre, striking him multiple times on the head and face with an empty bottle and a brick. The victim succumbed to his injuries while being treated at a hospital in Gokwe.

Top Cop Fired

By Crime and Courts Reporter – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has retired Police Commissioner-General (CG) Godwin Matanga, and replaced him with Deputy Commissioner-General (DCG) Stephen Mutamba.

In October, Mnangagwa dismissed the head of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s (ZRP) paramilitary Support Unit, with sources suggesting it was a forced retirement.

Two deputies from the unit were also reassigned to ZRP headquarters in Harare.

Sources told ZimEye that these moves were linked to power struggles within Zanu PF, as police operations may have conflicted with the interests of politicians aligned with Mnangagwa’s faction.

Sources said Matanga, appointed in 2018 after Robert Mugabe’s ouster in the 2017 military coup, could be reassigned to a diplomatic post.

Matanga took over from Augustine Chihuri, who fled into exile following the 2017 coup.

A senior government official stated, “These changes aim to revitalise law enforcement and align it with Mnangagwa’s anti-corruption agenda.” The official added that Matanga “may not complete his second term,” and hinted at further restructuring within the police force, part of a broader pattern of changes Mnangagwa has made across Zimbabwe’s security apparatus.

Matanga, during the Desiel PaChinhoyi era, was in charge of the Support Unit, known as the “Black Boots,”.

Headquartered at Chikurubi, it operates across multiple districts, including Chikurubi Urban and Rural, Fairbridge (Bulawayo), Buchwa (Zvishavane), and Changadzi.

Its mandate includes crowd control, disaster response, border patrol, and high-profile security details.

Matanga transformed the Support Unit to became increasingly militarised and effectively functioned as a paramilitary arm of Zanu PF, often tasked with suppressing protests and intimidating opposition, especially around election periods.

The “Black Boots” gained infamy for their heavy-handed tactics, regularly deployed against opposition supporters, students, and civil society.

As public dissent grew, especially from the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), the police became a central instrument in Mugabe’s strategy to retain control.

When Mnangagwa assumed power in the 2017 coup, he initially sidelined the police, whose loyalty had been closely tied to Mugabe.

Following the contested 2018 election, Mnangagwa deployed the military to suppress opposition protests in Harare, leading to the tragic killing of at least six unarmed civilians—a rare and dramatic escalation in civilian repression that echoed the violent Gukurahundi massacres of the 1980s.

This recent reshuffle within the ZRP’s Support Unit could indicate Mnangagwa’s attempt to reestablish police as the primary force for handling civilian protests, possibly learning from the international backlash that followed the military’s 2018 intervention.

By strengthening the Support Unit’s leadership and aligning it more directly with his administration’s goals, Mnangagwa may be aiming to prevent the need for military involvement in future protests, mitigating the political fallout from such incidents.

130 Die In Mozambique Protests

Maputo- At least 130 people have died in the ongoing Mozambique post-election violence, with the opposition calling for more protests after the announcement of final election results, expected by Monday.

Opposition leader Venancio Mondlane has threatened “chaos” if the Constitutional Council validates the initial results, which place him second behind the ruling FRELIMO party candidate, Daniel Chapo.

Mondlane, speaking from self-imposed exile, said that if the election results reflect “electoral truth,” peace would prevail, but if found fraudulent, it would lead to disorder and chaos.

His social media broadcast has been viewed by 2.4 million people.

The election commission announced that Mondlane received 20% of the vote, while Chapo secured 71%. Mondlane disputes the count, claiming that he actually won with 53%, compared to Chapo’s 36%.

Protests have led to standstills in city centres, disrupted industries and power plants, and halted operations at the main border with South Africa, causing major losses for neighbouring countries.

Police have been accused of using live ammunition against protesters, with at least 130 deaths reported by civil society groups and cited by Amnesty International.

On Thursday, the US government raised its warning level against travel to Mozambique due to the potential for violent protests.

Mozambique’s largest industrial employer, Mozal Aluminium, said it was making contingency plans in case of civil unrest after the announcement.

Speaking to AFP, Maputo-based political and security risk analyst Johann Smith said:

I’m convinced that if Monday the Constitutional Council declares the election as free and fair, which I am 100 per centconvinced it will, then the blood is going to flow.

The council must make its ruling by Monday so that President Filipe Nyusi can hand over power after his two-term limit ends on January 15.

Mondlane said on Wednesday that he believed Nyusi, 67, might use the growing tension to declare a state of emergency and remain in power.

Nyusi rejected this claim in a national address on Thursday. Said Nyusi:

I have always said that I have no intention of strengthening powers, and much less to serve a third term.

I swore to respect the Constitution… and I want to make it clear that I will leave power in January 2025.

Lake Chivero Poisoning, Probability Mnangagwa Family Behind It To Win Another Wicknell Tender

Investigative Article: Poisoned Waters –

Family wants the tender to purify Lake Chivero

Tracing a 70-Year Trail of Suspicion to Emmerson Mnangagwa

By Farai D Hove | Analysis | ZimEye |

The recent poisoning of Lake Chivero, Zimbabwe’s largest water reservoir and a critical resource for the Harare Metropolitan area, by industrial liquids, has sparked outrage and speculation. While investigations continue, questions are being raised about who might have orchestrated this ecological disaster and to what end. Among the theories circulating is one that traces a 70-year trail of statements, actions, and alleged tendencies attributed to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his inner circle—casting suspicion on the First Family’s potential involvement.

This article investigates the plausibility of such claims by exploring a series of historical and recent events that might provide context for understanding Mnangagwa’s relationship with opposition forces, governance, and, ultimately, the poisoning of Lake Chivero.

A Childhood Incident That Haunts the Present?

Emmerson Mnangagwa’s own sister, Diana, admitted in a state media documentary that as children, she once struck him, leaving a black mark on his nose. The reason? Mnangagwa had attempted to feed her snake poison. Though this incident may seem trivial in the context of childhood mischief, critics have pointed to it as an early example of his willingness to experiment with harm, raising symbolic questions about his later approach to power and dissent.

1983: Mnangagwa’s DDT Comments

In 1983, Mnangagwa, then Minister of State for National Security during the Gukurahundi massacres, made chilling public remarks referencing DDT—a potent chemical poison—when discussing how to “eliminate” perceived enemies of the state. While his words were metaphorical at the time, they have been cited as evidence of a mindset prone to dehumanizing opposition groups and normalizing extreme measures to maintain control.

This historical context fuels suspicions today, as the poisoning of Lake Chivero primarily impacts areas controlled by opposition-led councils, suggesting a calculated move to destabilize governance in those regions.

Grace Mugabe’s Accusations of Murder Plots

Former First Lady Grace Mugabe has openly accused Mnangagwa of plotting to kill her husband, Robert Mugabe, during his time as an intelligence officer under the Rhodesian regime. While Mnangagwa has denied these allegations, they add to a narrative of ruthlessness and a disregard for human life, especially when targeting those who challenge his authority.

The Oxygen Deprivation Remark (2015)

In a controversial 2015 statement, Mnangagwa said, “If I were God, I would deprive the opposition of oxygen.” Critics argue that such rhetoric reflects not just hostility but a broader disdain for democratic opposition and dissent. It raises questions about whether he views acts of ecological sabotage, like poisoning Lake Chivero, as a legitimate tool to suppress opposition-run councils and communities.

Opposition as the “World of the Dead”

Mnangagwa’s repeated assertions that opposition figures “belong to the world of the dead” and that Zimbabwe’s ruling party supporters will “live happily ever after” underscore a narrative of political dehumanization. In this context, the poisoning of a vital water source serving opposition-led urban areas could be interpreted as an extension of this philosophy—punishment for political dissent cloaked as an environmental disaster.

Sabotaging Opposition Service Delivery

In past public statements, Mnangagwa explicitly targeted opposition-led councils, stating, “Their programs must die at Harvest House” (the headquarters of the MDC Alliance). Lake Chivero, which supplies water to Harare—a city largely under opposition control—has long been a critical point of contention. Opposition leaders have alleged deliberate neglect and sabotage of water infrastructure by the central government, creating fertile ground for speculation about state involvement in the reservoir’s poisoning.

The Sanctity of Life Question: The $20 Million Bribe

In 2019, revelations emerged that Mnangagwa demanded a $20 million bribe from a donor agency in exchange for allowing aid to reach Zimbabweans during a severe drought. This incident exemplifies an alleged pattern of prioritizing personal or political gain over the welfare of citizens. The poisoning of Lake Chivero—if linked to Mnangagwa—would fit into this broader narrative of leveraging crisis situations for political advantage, regardless of the human cost.

The Case of Lake Chivero

What We Know So Far:

The poisoning of Lake Chivero has caused significant ecological damage, killing fish and other aquatic life and threatening the water supply for millions.

Opposition leaders claim the central government has failed to respond adequately, while some suggest sabotage as a tactic to undermine their governance.

Investigations have yet to produce concrete evidence linking the act to any specific individual or group.

Why Mnangagwa is a Suspect:

A long history of hostile rhetoric and actions toward opposition figures and regions under their control.

A pattern of using sabotage and harm to consolidate power, as alleged by critics and historical accounts.

The political benefit of destabilizing opposition-run councils ahead of upcoming elections.

Counterarguments:

Mnangagwa’s supporters dismiss the accusations as baseless conspiracy theories aimed at discrediting the president.

They argue that the government has no interest in poisoning a resource vital to the national economy and public health.

Profiteering.

Meanwhile, a revelation has emerged—suggesting that the ecological disaster, which has already claimed the lives of four rhinos and thousands of fish, is not an accident but a carefully orchestrated scheme. Sources allege this sinister plot is driven by greed, implicating politically connected individuals and a corrupt tender process.

At the center of this scandal is a company called Watermark, which allegedly poisoned the lake to manufacture a crisis, forcing the government to declare a state of emergency and award them a lucrative contract to “solve” the problem they created.

The Plot Unfolds: Poisoning for Profit

Lake Chivero, Harare’s primary water source, is facing a man-made disaster. In the past week, poisoned water has devastated wildlife, including the tragic deaths of four endangered rhinos, and has potentially exposed millions of people to toxic chemicals.

Sources close to the matter reveal the following sequence of events:

1. Corrupt Tender Process: Watermark, a company with ties to powerful political figures, was recently awarded a $16 million tender to install sewage pipes—an inflated figure compared to competing bids, one of which was under $2 million. This tender is being legally contested for corruption.

2. Deliberate Poisoning: Facing resistance to their contract, Watermark allegedly poisoned Lake Chivero to create a crisis that would necessitate their involvement as “problem solvers.”

3. False Narrative: To divert attention, Watermark and their backers are claiming that raw sewage overflow is responsible for the poisoning, a narrative pushed aggressively in public forums. However, toxicology experts suspect cyanide or another deliberate chemical agent is behind the disaster.

4. State of Emergency: In the coming days, it is expected that the government, under President Emmerson Mnangagwa, will declare Lake Chivero a disaster zone. This will pave the way for Watermark to receive emergency funding, bypassing further scrutiny or competition.

The Mnangagwa Connection

Key figures implicated in this scheme include Mathew Sibanda, a nephew of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and Jacob Mafume, who is reportedly involved in facilitating the tender and crisis orchestration.

The alleged involvement of Mnangagwa’s family members has intensified scrutiny, given the president’s historical disregard for human life and environmental preservation (as previously detailed). This plot appears to be another example of leveraging state resources and human suffering for personal gain.

Sibanda did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The Cost of Greed: Innocent Lives Lost

The deliberate poisoning of Lake Chivero has had devastating consequences:

Wildlife Deaths: Four rhinos have died from drinking the poisoned water, an unthinkable loss for Zimbabwe’s fragile ecosystem.

Human Risk: Millions of Harare residents rely on Lake Chivero for their water supply, and toxic exposure could have long-term health consequences.

Ecological Damage: Thousands of fish and other aquatic life have perished, disrupting the food chain and impacting local communities that depend on fishing for their livelihoods.

What’s Next: The Predicted State of Emergency

According to insiders, the next phase of the plot will involve the government declaring a state of emergency for Lake Chivero. This declaration will enable Watermark to bypass legal challenges and receive millions in emergency funding to “address” the crisis.

By creating the problem and positioning themselves as the solution, the conspirators stand to make millions while risking the lives of innocent people and animals.

The Call for Accountability

This level of corruption and disregard for life cannot go unchecked. Key questions demand immediate answers:

1. Toxicology Investigations: Why hasn’t a forensic toxicology examination been conducted on the rhinos and fish to determine the exact poison?

2. Accountability for Watermark: Who awarded the inflated tender, and why was Watermark selected despite contestations?

3. Government Transparency: Will President Mnangagwa declare the predicted state of emergency, and will he disclose the beneficiaries of the emergency contracts?

4. Justice for Wildlife: How will the government compensate for the loss of endangered species, and what measures will be taken to prevent future ecological sabotage?

Conclusion: “Nhundira-Tsime”—The Politics of Manufactured Crisis

The poisoning of Lake Chivero represents a dark chapter in Zimbabwe’s history, exposing the extent to which greed and political corruption can endanger lives and the environment.

As one source put it, “This is the height of witchcraft. You create a problem and then present yourself as the savior.”

If left unchecked, this scandal will not only deepen mistrust in Zimbabwe’s leadership but also set a dangerous precedent for environmental sabotage in pursuit of personal profit. The people of Zimbabwe—and the voiceless wildlife sacrificed in this plot—deserve justice, transparency, and accountability.

ZRP CHANGES: Why President Has Replaced Matanga (62) With Auxillia Mnangagwa’s Nephew (63)

Investigative Report: The Power Struggles Behind Zimbabwe’s Police Commissioner General Shakeup

By Investigation Seals | ZimEye | The recent announcement by Zimbabwe’s government spokesperson Nick Mangwana that Police Commissioner General Godwin Matanga has been “retired” due to age has sparked a flurry of controversy. His replacement, Deputy Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba, is not only older than Matanga but also carries a complex and controversial history that raises serious questions about governance, political interference, and international manipulation.

The Official Explanation vs. the Facts

Mangwana stated that Matanga, born in 1962, was retired because of his age. Yet, Mutamba, born in 1961, is one year older, making the age rationale implausible. This discrepancy has fueled speculation that Matanga’s removal was politically motivated, with multiple sources pointing to deep-seated tensions within Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU-PF party and allegations of undue influence from First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa.

Mutamba’s Controversial Rise

Mutamba’s rise to the position of Commissioner General has been anything but straightforward. In 2021, he was sanctioned by the U.S. government for alleged cruelty to opposition members. However, ZimEye sources claim this sanctions listing may have been orchestrated as part of a strategic play to position Mutamba for promotion. One insider close to Auxillia Mnangagwa alleged, “He secretly threw dirt on himself for mere convenience to get marked by ZANU-PF leadership as a victim of U.S. aggression.”

Critics argue that the sanctions, which were unusually targeted at a deputy rather than the commissioner, were intended to discredit Matanga and pave the way for Mutamba’s ascendancy. Notably, Matanga had just returned from a U.S. trip when the sanctions against Mutamba were announced, further fueling speculation about external interference.

The First Lady’s Influence

Auxillia Mnangagwa’s role in the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has been under scrutiny. Several sources claim she has been instrumental in orchestrating Mutamba’s promotion. Reports suggest she has used her influence to protect Mutamba from accountability, including intervening when Matanga attempted to suspend him for controversial actions, such as the firing of officers involved in the arrest of Drax International-linked businessman Delish Nguwaya.

Mutamba’s alleged involvement in collecting money from miners and other activities on behalf of Auxillia Mnangagwa raises additional concerns. Critics argue that his close ties to the First Lady compromise the independence of the ZRP and risk further entrenching corruption.

Secret JOC Emerging.

The perhaps the most plausible development is covered in an investigation that was done that was concluded with a video call with First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa. This expose’ shows with undeniable detail that the First Lady, a trained CIO agent, is assembling a new joint operations command, a gang of armed robbers that reports directly to her. This group includes her own brother Paradzayi Kutyauripo, a convicted armed robber who has been appointed Director of all State Residences, and will be doubling as a traditional chief.

This program if successful will place Auxillia as a powerful First Lady with way stronger powers than her predecessor Grace Mugabe who was disrespected by the military apparatus because she had no state powers under her command. (Watch the full video below).

CIA Involvement?

The timing and nature of Mutamba’s sanctions have led to speculation about the involvement of foreign intelligence agencies, particularly the CIA. Some sources suggest the U.S. aimed to destabilize the ZRP’s leadership ahead of the 2023 elections by creating divisions between Matanga and Mutamba. While these claims remain unverified, the narrative has gained traction among ZANU-PF loyalists.

No comment could be obtained from the CIA.

Mutamba’s Denials

When contacted by ZimEye, Mutamba denied allegations that he sought Mnangagwa’s favor for his promotion. However, he did not refute his familial ties to Auxillia Mnangagwa. His response was evasive, and he quickly ended the call when pressed further about his alleged cruelty to opposition members and the reasons behind his U.S. sanctions.

Contacted by ZimEye, Mutamba has denied approaching Emmerson Mnangagwa. He expressed shock and asked Simba Chikanza saying, “where did you hear that?,” before quickly dropping the phone call. He however did not deny that he is related to First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa.

Matanga’s U.S. Trip: A Turning Point?

Matanga’s 2021 trip to the U.S. has also come under scrutiny. Rumors suggest he may have met with CIA agents during the visit, a claim Matanga has neither confirmed nor denied. While the purpose of his trip was officially described as attending an international seminar, the timing of subsequent events raises questions about whether he became a target of manipulation by external forces.

What’s at Stake?

The implications of Mutamba’s appointment are far-reaching. Critics argue that his leadership could further erode the ZRP’s credibility, given his alleged history of corruption and political interference. Others warn that his close ties to the First Family may signal an alarming consolidation of power within ZANU-PF, with the police force becoming an instrument of personal and political agendas.

Questions That Remain Unanswered
1. Why was Matanga truly removed? If age was not the issue, what were the underlying reasons for his dismissal?
2. Is Mutamba’s sanctions listing genuine? Or was it a calculated move to position him for promotion?
3. What role does Auxillia Mnangagwa play in ZRP leadership decisions?
4. Is the CIA involved? Could foreign powers be manipulating internal ZANU-PF dynamics to achieve broader geopolitical objectives?
5. What does this mean for Zimbabwe’s future? With elections looming, how will these power struggles impact governance and accountability?

The replacement of Godwin Matanga with Stephen Mutamba as Police Commissioner General has exposed deep divisions and unresolved questions about the interplay of power, corruption, and foreign influence in Zimbabwe. As the dust settles, the stakes for the country’s governance and stability remain high. Transparency and accountability will be critical in ensuring that the ZRP serves the people of Zimbabwe, rather than the interests of a select few.

Council Charges Money To Draw Borehole Water

Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A resident has come forward with shocking allegations of corruption and unethical practices at the Upper Manyame Sub-Catchment Council after experiencing frustration while attempting to make a payment for a borehole permit. The incident, which occurred today, has sparked outrage over the alleged abuse of authority and lack of transparency in government-related institutions.

According to the complainant, they were denied the ability to swipe their bank card to make the payment without producing a national ID—a demand that many feel is excessive and unnecessary. What made the situation more questionable is that paying in USD cash was allowed without any such requirement.

The public notice

“I was told I could only swipe if I produced my ID, yet paying in cash required no such proof,” the complainant said. “This inconsistency shows clear favoritism towards cash payments, which raises serious questions about financial integrity and transparency.”

Concerns Over Transparency

The complainant noted that a notice was posted at the cash office clearly outlining the ID requirement for swiping, further reinforcing suspicions about deliberate efforts to inconvenience card payments in favor of cash transactions. “Why would they make it harder to pay digitally unless there’s something fishy happening with cash payments?” the complainant asked.

Water Access Crisis

The allegations are made worse by frustrations over the council’s poor service delivery. Despite charging fees for borehole drilling and water usage, the complainant reported that the council does not supply water to their area. “Access to water is a basic human right. How can they charge us exorbitant fees and then make the process of paying unnecessarily difficult?”

The situation has reignited anger over the state of water services in Zimbabwe, where residents often bear the cost of drilling their own boreholes while receiving little to no support from local authorities.

Calls for Action

The complainant is calling on the Government of Zimbabwe and anti-corruption agencies to investigate the alleged misconduct and hold those responsible accountable. “This is unacceptable. Financial intelligence authorities must step in, and those involved should face justice. Access to water is a right, not a privilege,” they said.

allegations.

This is a developing story.

Man Devoured By 2 Crocs

Tragic Incident: Man Devoured by Crocodiles in Gonarezhou National Park

By A Correspondent | In a shocking tragedy, a 23-year-old man lost his life after being attacked by two crocodiles while engaging in illegal night fishing in Gonarezhou National Park. His remains were later recovered from the crocodiles. This incident, along with another case of an 18-year-old boy drowning in prohibited waters at Matobo National Park, has sparked renewed calls for adherence to park rules and safety regulations.

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) released a statement addressing the incidents. “We wish to remind all visitors into Parks Estates of the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations established to preserve the safety of both individuals and wildlife within our estates,” said Tinashe Farawo, ZimParks spokesperson.

Offering condolences to the bereaved families, ZimParks stated, “Our condolences to the bereaved families. May their souls rest in peace. These incidents serve as a reminder of the risks associated with failure to follow laid-down rules and regulations within the parks estates.”

The statement further urged visitors to strictly observe designated park visiting hours and to avoid unauthorized activities. “We urge members of the public to adhere to the strictly designated park visiting hours (6 AM – 6 PM). Always follow the rules and regulations and familiarize yourself with the wildlife present in the area in order to understand the potential dangers they pose,” the statement read.

Public Safety Warning

The incidents underscore the life-threatening risks of disregarding park regulations. ZimParks emphasized their commitment to maintaining public safety while preserving wildlife. “Our staff is dedicated to ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone during this festive season,” Farawo added.

Visitors are encouraged to report any unsafe activities or concerns to park officers immediately. “If you witness any unsafe activities or have any concerns, do not hesitate to contact our officers immediately,” the statement concluded.

These tragedies serve as a somber reminder of the need for vigilance and respect for the rules designed to protect lives and preserve the delicate balance between humans and wildlife.

Winky D’s HICC, Tagwireyi Saga

By Cde Dread Tongogara | The much-anticipated annual performance by Zimbabwean music icon Winky D has been overshadowed by a growing controversy involving Tagwireyi’s Bridging Gaps Foundation, the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), and allegations of corporate interference.

Reports suggest that the Bridging Gaps Foundation, spearheaded by businessman Kudakwashe Tagwireyi, made a lucrative offer to the HICC, effectively displacing Winky D’s event. According to ZIMLIVE, the deal included booking 200 rooms for five days, catering to 200 couples—a move many view as prioritizing financial gain over public interest. Critics argue that this not only denies thousands of Zimbabweans their annual source of solace and celebration but also exposes the power dynamics at play in the country.

Public Outcry Over Financial Power Abuse

Winky D’s fans, numbering in the thousands, have expressed their outrage over what they describe as a betrayal of public trust and cultural values. For many, his performances are more than just entertainment—they are a source of comfort and empowerment for Zimbabwe’s economically and socially downtrodden. The sudden cancellation has left fans feeling robbed of their annual ritual of healing and celebration.

“This is not just about a concert,” said one fan. “It’s about the disregard for ordinary people in favor of financial muscle. It’s a disturbing precedent where might trumps right.”

Moral Concerns Highlighted

Critics of the saga argue that this incident reflects a broader issue of power imbalance in Zimbabwe. Questions are being raised about the ethical implications of allowing financial power to override principles and commitments. A widely shared concern is that such practices could spill over into other aspects of public life, from the justice system to business ethics, creating a dangerous culture of impunity.

“If someone with money can disrupt this tradition, what stops them from undermining other systems meant to serve the public?” a concerned citizen asked. “Where do we draw the line?”

Winky D’s Silence

Winky D himself has remained tight-lipped about the controversy, leaving his fans to speculate on the reasons behind his absence from this year’s event. While some are hopeful for a statement or a possible rescheduling of the event, others feel this is a wake-up call for a more equitable and transparent system that prioritizes public interest over private gain.

A Call for Justice

As public outrage grows, many are calling for accountability from the parties involved. The hope is that this incident will spark a broader conversation about the need for fairness, transparency, and the protection of cultural spaces from undue influence.

For now, Winky D’s fans are left with disappointment and questions about whether their beloved artist will be allowed to continue providing the solace and inspiration they so desperately seek. The ball is now in the court of HICC, Tagwireyi, and Winky D to address the public’s concerns and restore trust in a society where cultural heritage often feels under siege.

ZIFA Polls Latest

Sports Correspondent

The countdown to the much-anticipated ZIFA Executive Committee elections has taken a dramatic turn, with three more candidates—businessman Nqobile Magwizi, former legislator Themba Mliswa, and former PSL Chairperson Twine Phiri—having their eligibility questioned. This follows formal complaints made by private individuals to the ZIFA Ethics Committee, raising concerns over the suitability of these candidates.

Their scrutiny comes just days after Yadah FC owner Prophet Walter Magaya, Northern Region Chairperson Martin Kweza, and former ZIFA board member Philemon Machana were similarly challenged on their eligibility.

The challenges against Magwizi, Mliswa, and Phiri follow a familiar pattern, with letters sent to the ZIFA Ethics Committee questioning whether the trio meet the necessary qualifications for the position.

Sports analyst Malvern Moyo has described the situation as a form of “electioneering.” “It’s an interesting time ahead of us. January 25 seems far away, but looking at the letters, it seems like the work of one individual trying to eliminate others. Some of the allegations lack merit, while others have already been cleared. It’s election season, so you can expect anything,” Moyo commented.

Among the candidates vying for the ZIFA presidency are Marshal Gore of Team Zimbabwe UK, former Warriors captain Benjani Mwaruwari, and PSL Chairperson Farai Jere.

According to Article 38, Paragraph 6 of the new ZIFA Statutes, “all members of the Executive Committee must not have been previously convicted or sentenced for any offense.”

The ZIFA Ethics Committee is currently reviewing the candidates’ eligibility and integrity, with an announcement of the approved candidates scheduled for December 23. The elections will take place on January 25 next year.

What’s Going On Julius?

South African politician and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has ignited controversy after removing all photos of his wife, Mantwa Matlala Malema, from his Instagram account. This sudden move has fueled speculation about the status of their marriage, especially since they were set to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary on December 27 ¹ ² ³.

Malema and Mantwa tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in 2014 and have two sons together, Kopano and Munzhedzi. Malema also has a third son, Ratanang, from a previous relationship. Despite removing his wife’s images, Malema has retained photos of his children on his Instagram page, further fueling the divorce rumors.

The EFF leader has been known to share glimpses of his family life on social media, from grand appearances at events like the Durban July to heartwarming birthday and anniversary posts. However, his recent decision to purge his wife’s photos has left many scrambling to understand the implications.

Malema’s silence on the matter has only added to the intrigue. In a recent interview on Lasizwe’s YouTube show “Awkward Dates,” Malema spoke fondly of his wife, describing proposing to her as the most romantic gesture he had ever made. This contrast between his words and actions has left many wondering what’s really going on.

As the couple’s anniversary approaches, all eyes are on Malema to see whether he’ll address the rumors or continue to maintain his silence. Only time will reveal the truth behind Malema’s decision to remove his wife’s photos from Instagram.

Three Arrested For Stock Theft

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of Trust Mpofu (37), Prince Dube (40), and Mthuthukisi Msizi (31) at an abattoir in Belmont, Bulawayo, on December 17, 2024, in connection with a suspected stock theft case.

The suspects were apprehended after attempting to present a forged stock clearance form to police officers at the abattoir for the slaughter of cattle.

Following the arrest, authorities recovered 11 cattle bearing foreign brand marks. The vehicle used to transport the stolen livestock, a UD 60 truck with registration number AFK4503, was also impounded by the police.

The cattle are believed to have been stolen from outside the country.

ED’s Prophet Wutaunashe Demands A New Car From Poor Tswana Citizens After Telling UK He’s For The Poor

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Barely three years after presenting himself as a voice for the poor during a meeting with Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, Prophet Andrew Wutaunashe, a controversial religious figure aligned with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has come under fire for pressuring his Botswana congregants to buy him a car.

Speaking at a church gathering in Gaborone five days ago, Wutaunashe, described by critics as “giant-bellied” and advised by doctors to walk for his health, demanded that members of his economically struggling congregation procure a vehicle for him within four months.

In his address, Wutaunashe joked with the audience, saying, “Say Halleluyah! Praise God! I know all the Bishops love me, so I know that at Easter Camp next year, the Bishops will give me a car… Just provoking you, but I really appreciate all…” Despite his light-hearted tone, the implicit demand has sparked outrage across social and religious circles.

A Troubling Contradiction

This recent development stands in stark contrast to Wutaunashe’s claims in November 2021 when he lobbied the Archbishop of Canterbury to support the removal of Western sanctions against Zimbabwe. During his meeting with Justin Welby, Wutaunashe portrayed himself as a champion of the impoverished, blaming sanctions for crippling Zimbabwe’s economy and exacerbating poverty.

“We’re actually troubled for the poor,” Wutaunashe said at the time, suggesting that sanctions, rather than corruption and mismanagement, were responsible for Zimbabwe’s dire economic state. However, his demands in Gaborone paint a different picture, with critics accusing him of exploiting the very poor he once claimed to advocate for.

Archbishop’s Warning Revisited

Archbishop Welby’s 2021 response to Wutaunashe’s plea now carries renewed significance. In his remarks, the Archbishop emphasized that sanctions relief should only benefit the truly disadvantaged and not those involved in corruption. “Sanctions relief should be only for the poor who don’t steal money that is not theirs,” he stated.

Wutaunashe’s actions have reignited debate about the integrity of religious leaders who align themselves with political figures like Mnangagwa.

ZESA Promises To End Load Shedding By 2025

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has announced that load shedding will soon be a thing of the past, citing the ongoing construction of 13 new power stations that are set to significantly increase the country’s electricity supply.

“These 13 new power stations are either under construction or will be commissioned by 2025,” ZESA said in a statement. “These are not just plans; they are actual investments. Collectively, they will add 4,600 Megawatts to the grid, which is three times our current maximum demand.”

ZESA also noted that the surge in power generation may bring new challenges, such as the possibility of surplus electricity that could attract interest from neighboring countries. “We may face a situation where other countries are more eager to take advantage of this surplus power,” the statement added.

The authority highlighted the importance of collaboration with the informal sector to fully utilize these resources and assured the public that the issue of load shedding will soon be resolved.

A heartbreaking incident occurred in Epworth, east of Harare, where a 1-year-old baby boy tragically drowned in a waterlogged rubbish pit. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the devastating event, which took place on December 18, 2024, near Corner Store, Overspill, Epworth.

“The ZRP reports a sad incident in which a baby boy (1 year 4 months) drowned in a waterlogged rubbish pit on 18/12/24 at a house near Corner Store, Overspill, Epworth, Harare,” said the ZRP in a post on their official X handle.

This tragic event has added to growing concerns about child safety, especially during the rainy season, when waterlogged areas pose increased risks. Drowning incidents involving children have become a cause for alarm, highlighting the need for greater awareness and preventive measures.

Manchester United Boss Reflects On Loss To Tottenham Hotspur

Sports Correspondent

Manager Ruben Amorim took positives from Manchester United’s spirited comeback in Thursday’s 4-3 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup quarterfinals but acknowledged that his side was ultimately undone by a more clinical performance from the hosts.

United found themselves 3-0 down shortly after the break, but they responded with two quick goals within seven minutes to bring the game back into contention. Despite Son Heung-min adding a fourth for Tottenham, United continued to press.

“We disconnected at the start of the second half, which was a tough moment for us, about 10 minutes. But then we came back and did a great job,” Amorim told Sky Sports.

“I think if you look at all the games, we were the better team overall, but they were more clinical. We lost the game, but the fight from the lads was really important for me. Overall, it was a good match, but there’s no taste in that. We didn’t win, so we need to focus on the next game.”

Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag in November, stated that United, currently in 13th place, still have a long way to go before becoming genuine Premier League title contenders.

“We’re improving as a team. Our goal is to win the Premier League. How long it’s going to take? I don’t know, but that is our goal,” he added.

The ZIFA Ethics Committee is currently reviewing the candidates’ eligibility and integrity, with an announcement of the approved candidates scheduled for December 23. The elections will take place on January 25 next year.

New Police Boss In Town

By Crime and Courts Reporter – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has retired Police Commissioner-General (CG) Godwin Matanga, and replaced him with Deputy Commissioner-General (DCG) Stephen Mutamba.

In October, Mnangagwa dismissed the head of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s (ZRP) paramilitary Support Unit, with sources suggesting it was a forced retirement.

Two deputies from the unit were also reassigned to ZRP headquarters in Harare.

Sources told ZimEye that these moves are linked to power struggles within Zanu PF, as police operations may have conflicted with the interests of politicians aligned with Mnangagwa’s faction.

Sources said Matanga, appointed in 2018 after Robert Mugabe’s ouster in the 2017 military intervention, could be reassigned to a diplomatic post.

JUST IN…..Another KZN Man Kills Wife & Child

KwaZulu-Natal -Police are investigating a triple murder case after a 22-year-old woman and her three-year-old son were stabbed to death in the early hours of Friday morning.

It is believed a 24-year-old man, who is also the father of the child, locked the pair inside the house before killing them.

The suspect also took his own life shortly after the incident.
“The bodies were recovered on Friday morning, with the incident suspected to have happened late on Thursday night or in the early hours of Friday,” said police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda.

On Tuesday, another man, Sbusiso Lawrence, killed his ex-wife on camera.

His body was later found hanging from a tree in the Malangeni area of Umzinto, on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.

Police responded to reports of a murder in Umzinto where the body of a 25-year-old woman was discovered in the middle of the road with multiple stab wounds.

Colonel Netshiunda says, “Reports indicate that the suspect fetched the woman, who was his girlfriend, from her home and it is suspected that the two had a domestic-related altercation which escalated to the murder.”
“The suspect’s vehicle was found abandoned down the road from where the woman’s body was found, and blood on the front passenger seat suggested that the suspect killed the woman inside his vehicle. A manhunt was quickly launched and an intensive search by police led to the discovery of the suspect’s body which was hanging on a tree, in what is believed to be a suicide. Police are investigating a case of murder and an inquest docket will also be opened for further investigation,” adds Netshiunda.

More Women Reveal Falling Prey To ZAOGA Pastor Caught Pants Down

By Religion Reporter- Several women have come forward to share their experiences involving a senior ZAOGA pastor who was dismissed amid allegations of engaging in multiple extramarital affairs with married female congregants.

The said overseer was recently fired after a woman from Rusape reported him to the church’s headquarters in Harare for neglecting the two children they share.

The scandal deepened when another woman accused him of sexual harassment, claiming he had sent her explicit nude photos.

During questioning, the pastor confessed to his misdeeds, leading to his dismissal.

However, the case has sparked outrage across the church as more allegations of misconduct surfaced.

The pastor, who previously pastored at a city-centre church in Bulawayo, allegedly left a trail of misconduct.

Sources said several women, including widows, divorcees, and unmarried congregants, have come forward claiming he made inappropriate advances, including late-night visits and sending lewd photos.

Despite these allegations, some cases were suppressed, reportedly due to his support from another named Pastor, who was based in Bulawayo.

This scandal has reignited longstanding concerns about corruption and immorality within ZAOGA’s leadership.

The church could not be reached for comment.

ZAOGA Bosses In Shocking Scandals

By Religion Reporter- Top executives within ZAOGA FIF (Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa), the Pentecostal church founded by Ezekiel Guti, are being accused of selling leadership positions and fostering a culture of corruption and exploitation.

An ongoing investigation by ZimEye has revealed that since 2017, aspiring Overseers reportedly pay $1,000 for their positions, while promotions to District Pastor allegedly cost $500.

Sources familiar with the situation describe a troubling shift from merit-based appointments to a system driven by bribes and favouritism, prompting disillusioned pastors to leave the church in frustration.

The scandal has cast a spotlight on ZAOGA’s Transferring Board, which plays a pivotal role in leadership assignments.

Allegations suggest that some senior pastors exploit their authority, engaging in predatory behaviour toward pastors’ wives in exchange for lucrative transfers or promotions.

One such case involves a pastor recently assigned to the UK after his wife was allegedly coerced into compliance by a senior leader.

Insiders claim these issues are not new but reflect a deep-seated culture of corruption within ZAOGA’s hierarchy.

Past attempts to address immorality and abuse have reportedly been stifled, leading to mounting dissatisfaction among congregants and church officials alike.

The revelations have reignited longstanding concerns about the church’s moral integrity, with many calling for an overhaul of its leadership.

ZimEye’s year-long investigation is set to reveal further hidden cases of exploitation, casting an even harsher light on the top leadership’s misconduct.

Our efforts to get an official comment from church executives were fruitless as they were not reachable.

Aspiring ZIFA Presidential Candidate Denies Fraud Allegations

Sports Correspondent

Philemon Machana, a former ZIFA board member and aspiring candidate for the association’s presidency, has strongly denied allegations of financial misconduct and fraud. Machana describes the accusations as a “malicious attempt” to undermine his candidacy and damage his reputation.

As the highly anticipated ZIFA election approaches on January 25, tensions have risen, with the race described as one of the most closely watched since independence due to the high-profile candidates involved. Efforts to disqualify certain candidates have intensified, creating a contentious atmosphere.

This week, the ZIFA Ethics Committee, which will review candidates before announcing the final list on December 23, was presented with objections against Machana, popular cleric Walter Magaya, and Northern Region Soccer League chairman Martin Kweza. A letter from K. Mugadzaweta, also sent to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), accused Machana of financial misconduct and fraud related to a forensic audit of ZIFA’s finances from December 2018 to November 2021.

In response, Machana, through his legal team at Rubaya and Chatambudza Legal Practitioners, dismissed the allegations as unfounded and politically timed, noting that the complaints were lodged with ZACC only after the ZIFA election nominations had closed.

The Dangers of Following Too Closely on the Road

Drivers should always maintain a safe following distance, ensuring they do not tailgate or follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent. This distance should be determined by factors such as the speed of the vehicles, traffic conditions, and the state of the road.

Many rear-end collisions occur because drivers follow too closely, not allowing enough time to react in case of sudden stops or changes in traffic. Maintaining a safe distance can prevent such accidents and ensure safer driving for everyone on the road.

Mnangagwa Issues Chilling Warning To Zanu PF Members Over Social Media Abuse

By A Correspondent

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has strongly condemned the misuse of social media platforms by Zanu PF members to air the party’s internal issues, calling for an immediate halt to the practice.

His remarks came during the 380th Ordinary Session of the Politburo, held at the Revolutionary Party HQ in Harare on Thursday.

Mnangagwa acknowledged that some members of his party had been using social media to expose internal divisions and conflicts, which he described as damaging to the party’s unity and reputation.

“This habit of using social media to attack the party must stop with immediate effect,” Mnangagwa said firmly. “Such behaviour is unacceptable.”

The Zanu PF leader emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline within the party and adhering to its constitution, making it clear that internal disputes should be resolved within the party structures rather than on public platforms.

“Those who are doing it, spit on the ground and never do it again,” Mnangagwa added, sending a stern message to party members who have been engaging in such behavior. “Every party member must adhere to the party constitution.”

The comments come amidst rising tensions within Zanu PF, where internal divisions have been increasingly evident. Social media, often a space for public debate, has become a battleground for party members to express their discontent, contributing to the deepening rift at the top levels of the ruling party.

Mnangagwa’s call to restore discipline within Zanu PF is seen as an effort to regain control over the party’s narrative and prevent further damage to its image.

However, his statement also raises questions about how the party intends to address the underlying issues fueling such public outbursts.

With political infighting growing, Mnangagwa’s warning signals a tough stance on party loyalty and unity in the face of mounting internal challenges.

Sad: Toddler Drowns in Rubbish Pit in Epworth

By A Correspondent

According to the police, the toddler was playing outside while his mother was engaged in household chores when the tragedy struck. “The incident occurred when the victim was playing outside the house while the mother was doing household chores,” the police reported.

This tragic event has added to growing concerns about child safety, especially during the rainy season, when waterlogged areas pose increased risks. Drowning incidents involving children have become a cause for alarm, highlighting the need for greater awareness and preventive measures.

ZESA Claims 13 New Power Stations Will End Load Shedding

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has promised that load shedding will soon be a thing of the past, citing the ongoing construction of 13 new power stations.

“These 13 new power stations are either under construction or will be commissioned by 2025,” ZESA said in a statement. “These are not just plans; they are actual investments. Together, they will add 4,600 Megawatts to the grid, which is three times our current maximum demand.”

ZESA further noted that with this significant increase in power generation, there may even be challenges in utilizing such a vast amount of electricity. “We may face a situation where other countries are more eager to take advantage of this surplus power,” the statement added.

The power authority also emphasized that by encouraging the informal sector to collaborate and share resources, they believe the load shedding issue will be resolved.

Biti In Desperate Bid To Cleanse Self

By A Corresponde

Tendai Biti’s recent comments have sparked widespread controversy, with many Zimbabweans accusing the former Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Secretary General of attempting to reclaim political relevance after years of silence. His sudden call for action against any moves to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term has left citizens questioning his sincerity and motives.

In a statement this week, Biti warned Zimbabweans to resist any effort by the ruling Zanu PF party to extend Mnangagwa’s presidency, calling such attempts “unlawful and unconstitutional.” He described the fight against this extension as one of the biggest challenges facing the nation in 2025.

“The battle we must face in 2025 is a fight against the unlawful push to extend the presidency beyond its constitutional limits,” Biti declared. “We must resist any efforts to undermine our democracy and protect our freedoms. This is about safeguarding our constitution and ensuring that authoritarianism does not take root.”

While Biti’s message against authoritarianism seemed strong, many citizens, particularly those from his former MDC base, have labeled him a “traitor” for betraying the people’s struggle. His critics argue that his recent statements are a desperate attempt to distance himself from past political missteps, especially after his controversial departure from MDC.

Biti went on to accuse the Zanu PF government of using deceitful tactics to consolidate power, labeling them as a “master of manipulation” through a strategy he termed the “6 D’s”: Deceive, Delay, Deflect, Deny, Denounce, and Destroy. He cautioned that Zimbabwe must remain vigilant against these tactics in the lead-up to the 2025 elections.

Despite his strong rhetoric, many have expressed doubts about Biti’s real commitment to change, with some seeing his comments as a last-ditch effort to regain political traction.

Uniformed Top Cop Robbed In Mushikashika

By Crime and Courts Reporter- A Morris Depot-based 42-year-old police officer has lost his service identity cards and cash after boarding a mushikashika.

Assistant Inspector Dickson Mashada boarded a mushikashika in the CBD on his way home in Newlands.

The pirate taxi had two female passengers and a male passenger.

He lost US$420 on his way to Mukushi Depot.

Upon reaching Harare Central Remand Prison, one of the female passengers grabbed him by the neck while the other produced a knife and ordered him to surrender his wallet.

The female passenger searched him and took away his wallet containing his police ID card, National ID card, bank cards and cash.

The robbers dumped Ass-Insp Mashada opposite Kebab Centre and drove away towards Newlands Shopping Centre at around 7 pm early this week.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case, urging people to avoid boarding private vehicles.

Mnangagwa Dumps War Vets

By Political Reporter- War veterans, once heralded as the bedrock of Zanu PF’s political machinery, are reeling from neglect as the government fails to meet their welfare needs.

Critical funds for medical bills and educational support for veterans’ dependents have been withheld by the Treasury since September 2024, plunging the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs into a financial crisis.

Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Defence, Home Affairs, Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, and Security, Albert Nguluvhe, painted a grim picture of the veterans’ plight in his 2025 post-budget analysis report.

“The Ministry owes ZWG10.25 million to medical service providers, while unpaid surgeries amount to ZWG6.52 million. The annual costs for dialysis and chemotherapy alone are ZWG11.18 million and ZWG3.03 million, respectively,” Nguluvhe reported.

The budget for veterans’ healthcare in 2025 stands at ZWG121.84 million—only 40% of the required ZWG312.83 million.

This allocation is projected to run out by May 2025, leaving the majority of veterans, most of whom are above 63 years old, without essential age-related healthcare services.

Educational benefits for veterans’ children are also underfunded.

The Ministry allocated ZWG137.22 million for 2025, far below the ideal ZWG315.25 million.

Most of these funds—ZWG110.98 million—will be used to clear 2024 arrears, leaving only ZWG26.26 million for 2025.

This is insufficient to cover even one school term.

“The Ministry needs an additional ZWG218.78 million to support 6,395 students adequately. Current funding levels only perpetuate the crisis,” Nguluvhe explained,

breaking down staggering arrears for 2024 school fees.
Despite a budget increase to ZWG970.52 million following a Call Circular, Nguluvhe underscored that the allocation remains inadequate.

“This chronic underfunding reflects the government’s failure to prioritize the very people who sacrificed their youth for Zimbabwe’s liberation,” he said.

Petros Sibanda, Secretary General of the ZPRA Veterans Association, expressed dismay over the continued neglect.

“The Treasury must reassess its priorities and adequately fund veterans’ welfare. Many remain unpaid, including those vetted in 2022 who are yet to receive their pensions and gratuities,” Sibanda said.

War veterans have been pivotal in Zanu PF’s election strategies for decades, often mobilized to intimidate opposition supporters and influence rural voting patterns.

Their discontent now threatens to unravel this alliance, with some veterans openly criticizing the government.
“Veterans gave their all for Zimbabwe’s independence. It is a travesty that they are treated with such disregard,” Sibanda concluded.

The ceremonial reception emphasized the close ties between the two nations and marked the beginning of Dr. Chiwenga’s official visit to India. The event was a testament to the thriving relationship between India and Zimbabwe, underscoring their shared commitment to fostering cooperation in diverse sectors.

Dr. Chiwenga, accompanied by a distinguished delegation, was received with traditional Indian hospitality, including an aarti ceremony—a symbolic gesture of respect and honor in Indian culture. The images show the Vice President exuding confidence as he engages with Indian officials, dismissing unfounded rumors suggesting he was in hiding. Minister Mauvin Godinho extended a warm greeting, presenting the Vice President with a traditional Indian shawl as a mark of respect and camaraderie. The ceremony also highlighted Goa’s role as a key destination for international diplomacy, reflecting India’s commitment to welcoming global leaders with grace and tradition.

Dr. Chiwenga’s visit includes a series of high-level engagements aimed at discussing avenues for enhanced cooperation between India and Zimbabwe. Mnangagwa Deletes Mugabe’s Land Legacy

Political Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa systematically dismantles the late Robert Mugabe’s controversial land reform policies.

Mugabe’s radical land reform program, launched in 2000, saw white commercial farms seized and title deeds abolished as land was nationalised under 99-year leases.

This policy was a cornerstone of Mugabe’s defiance against Western influence and a defining aspect of his rule.

Farmers allocated land could not sell it, as it was considered state property.

However, since coming to power through a military coup in November 2017, Mnangagwa has subtly begun reversing Mugabe’s policies.

Reports indicate his administration is leasing land back to white farmers and introducing new tenure systems that prioritise a market-oriented approach.

Today, Mnangagwa will preside over a controversial ceremony at his Precabe Farm in Kwekwe, where title deeds will be handed to select individuals, including political allies who benefited from the chaotic land redistribution program.

“Tomorrow (today), I will be launching the new land tenure implementation program as we consolidate the gains of land reform,” Mnangagwa told his party’s politburo. He claimed the initiative would enhance security of tenure, access to financing, and agricultural productivity.

The new policy halts the issuance of 99-year leases, offer letters, and permits, prioritising veterans of the liberation struggle, youths, and women under the new system.

Mnangagwa emphasised that agricultural land regularised under the program would remain transferrable only among indigenous Zimbabweans, excluding communal land overseen by traditional chiefs.

The President painted a picture of progress under his leadership, citing infrastructure development, dam construction, and mechanisation programs as evidence of his government’s support for farmers.

Yet, critics argue these moves undermine Mugabe’s legacy while cloaking a strategic effort to consolidate power by appeasing influential stakeholders, including those who benefited from land redistribution.

A Cabinet Oversight Committee, chaired by Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri will spearhead the reforms, supported by a Land Tenure Implementation Committee to oversee execution.

Mnangagwa insists these committees will develop improved land tenure systems to boost economic development and ensure accountability.

This shift in land policy marks a defining chapter in Zimbabwe’s history, as Mnangagwa attempts to rewrite the narrative of land ownership and erase the ideological underpinnings of Mugabe’s legacy.

Mohadi Missing At Politburo Meeting as Chiwenga in India

Political Reporter-Core-Constantino Chiwenga deputy President Kembo Mohadi together with the former Army General Constantino Chiwenga were conspicuously absent at their boss President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s politburo meeting.

Mohadi and Chiwenga Thursday did not attend the party’s last Politburo meeting chaired by Mnangagwa.

Their no-show comes days after Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa revealed plans to push for a constitutional amendment allowing President Emmerson Mnangagwa to rule beyond 2028, effectively sidelining Chiwenga, who is constitutionally positioned to succeed him.

The Politburo, Zanu PF’s highest decision-making body, met for the final time in 2024

President Mnangagwa chairs the politiburo.

Images from the meeting showed empty seats where Chiwenga and Mohadi, as vice presidents, typically sit.

This absence follows Mnangagwa’s remarks at Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, where he accused unnamed ministers of habitually skipping official engagements.

While some suggested a view that Chiwenga’s absence as a silent protest against moves to consolidate Mnangagwa’s grip on power, the VP is on a visit to India.

Mutsvangwa’s comments on the succession debate have further fanned speculation, as he declared there would be no immediate successor to Mnangagwa’s presidency.

The brewing tension comes at a critical juncture for Zanu PF, with internal divisions threatening to destabilise the party’s cohesion ahead of the 2028 elections.

Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa could not be reached for comment.

Son in Court for Attacking Mother

A shocking incident in Plumtree has left a community reeling after a 30-year-old man, Methuseli Mvundla, assaulted his mother with an axe handle for not greeting her. The victim, 52-year-old Zenzo Sibanda, narrowly escaped with her life.

Mvundla appeared before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware at the Plumtree Magistrates’ Court, where he was remanded in custody until December 27. Prosecutor Voster Makuwerere presented the state’s case, revealing the disturbing details of the assault.

On November 17, Mvundla was asleep at his mother’s house. Upon waking, he washed his face and proceeded to the kitchen, where his mother was. When she asked why he hadn’t greeted her, Mvundla became enraged, assaulting her with his bare hands. He then grabbed an axe handle and struck her once on the leg.

Fearing for her life, Sibanda fled the yard, and a police report was filed, leading to Mvundla’s arrest. The court has taken a stern stance, remanding him in custody as the investigation continues.

This disturbing incident highlights the alarming rise in domestic violence and the need for greater awareness and support for victims.

ED’s Brought Back Augustine Chihuri Statue To State House To Threaten VP Chiwenga? | FLASHING PICTURES

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Analysis | The new Mnangagwa statue, bronze-faced and unyielding, rises with an almost spectral aura—a visage that seems to carry not the firm resolve of Emmerson Mnangagwa but the haunting features of Augustine Chihuri.

VIDEO LOADING BELOW

The chiseled lines across the face speak not of triumph but of ironic subversion, an unspoken message etched into the very core of its creation. This statue, poised to adorn the State House, is less a symbol of Mnangagwa’s legacy than it is an artifact of whispered defiance, casting a shadow that intertwines history and intrigue.

It does not have the permanent black mark inflicted by Mnangagwa’s sister Diana after he tried to kill her.

Has Augustine Chihuri bounced back to arrest VP Chiwenga?

The unmistakable resemblance to Chihuri—the man once positioned to arrest Constantino Chiwenga during Zimbabwe’s fraught 2017 coup—speaks louder than the bronze silence it embodies. This artistic misstep or deliberate ambiguity carries an ominous weight. Mnangagwa’s subtle, veiled commentary becomes a poetic dagger, unearthing the treacherous layers of betrayal, loyalty, and ambition that pulse beneath Zimbabwe’s political theater.

Diana illustrating that she is the who inflicted a permanent black mark on Mnangagwa’s nose just after he’d tried to poison her to death

Chihuri’s role in that historical chess game, where soldiers in disguise disarmed the police’s Support Unit and shielded Chiwenga, now finds its echo in the statue’s silent gaze. The bronze lips seem to murmur the words that Mnangagwa hinted at recently: a need for order, for consequence, for the arrest of dreams too ambitious to stand unchecked.

And yet, the face—crafted to immortalize—is a paradox, for it immortalizes not Mnangagwa’s visage but the specter of a man who once stood at the crux of betrayal. The artistry, or lack thereof, carries with it a coded language understood by those attuned to the nuances of Zimbabwe’s fraught corridors of power. It is as if the statue leans toward Chiwenga and whispers: “Before you dream of power, remember who fell, who stood, and who remains.”

It is a sculpture of shadow and tension, not merely of form. What it symbolizes may outlast the presidency it is meant to celebrate, casting a bronze reminder that history, though malleable in the hands of power, has a memory of its own.

SA Government Speaks On Issue Of Illegal Miners

By A Correspondent

The grim discovery of five decomposed bodies near Krugersdorp and Kagiso, Gauteng, on December 15, has once again highlighted the perilous conditions faced by zama zamas, illegal miners operating in abandoned mines across South Africa.

Police spokeswoman Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed the recovery of the bodies, believed to be those of zama zamas, from an old abandoned mine.

The bodies were found at the intersection of the N14 and R28 highways after a member of the public noticed them while walking by. It appears they were brought to the surface and then dumped at the scene.

Two inquest cases will be registered, one in Kagiso for two bodies and another in Krugersdorp for three bodies.

This tragic discovery underscores the inherent dangers of illegal mining, driven by South Africa’s abundance of valuable minerals and numerous unrehabilitated mines.

Crime expert Calvin Rafadi notes that many mines are left without rehabilitation, creating opportunities for zama zamas to take over .

*The Complex Issue of Illegal Mining*

Illegal mining is a complex issue, fueled by:

1. *Poverty and Unemployment*: Many zama zamas are driven by desperation and lack of economic opportunities, with South Africa’s unemployment rate at 32.9% .

2. *Migration*: Zama zamas often come from neighboring countries, such as Lesotho, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe, bringing mining skills with them.

3. *Criminal Syndicates*: Organized crime groups exploit zama zamas, perpetuating violence and danger.

Experts advocate for a multi-faceted approach to address illegal mining, including:

1. *Regulation and Legislation*: Strengthening laws and regulations to prevent exploitation.

2. *Economic Opportunities*: Creating legitimate jobs and economic growth to reduce poverty.

3. *Cooperation*: Collaboration between governments, communities, and stakeholders to address the root causes .

Mnangagwa Starts Burying Tshabangu, Mafume Barely A Year After Chamisa Betrayal

Mnangagwa’s Calculated Plan to Destroy Opposition-Controlled Councils Unfolds in Harare

By Farai D Hove | Analysis | Harare, Zimbabwe – In what many are calling the clearest display yet of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s systematic strategy to undermine opposition-controlled councils, chaos has erupted in Mabvuku, where long-standing residents are being evicted from their properties under dubious circumstances. The unfolding events are not isolated but rather part of a broader agenda to dismantle any functional opposition-linked governance structures, ensuring that nothing outside ZANU PF’s control operates effectively.

Mabvuku Residents Evicted Amid Corruption Allegations

The latest victims, four residents of Stand 46 Marembo Street, including Mr. Mofolo Makasa and Mrs. Maggie Mazonde, have been forcibly removed from properties they have leased and paid for since 1992. Their eviction clears the way for new beneficiaries tied to a corrupt allocation scheme allegedly overseen by officials connected to ZANU PF’s broader agenda.

Despite holding valid lease agreements and maintaining up-to-date council accounts, these residents find themselves battling illegal land grabs. Evidence of unlawful construction activities and the destruction of council boundary pegs has surfaced, highlighting a well-orchestrated attempt to erode trust in Harare’s opposition-linked municipal governance.

Mnangagwa’s Strategy to Cripple MDC-CCC Governance

Analysts argue this is the most prolific example of Mnangagwa’s masterstroke to render any opposition-controlled council dysfunctional. The confusion and mismanagement seen in Harare City Council, driven by scandals and interference, align with a calculated directive from ZANU PF: “Nothing outside ZANU PF control must work, and all MDC/CCC programs must die at Harvest House.”

This systematic sabotage ensures that even opposition factions aligned with Mnangagwa’s government-assisted proxies, like the Sengezo Tshabangu faction, will ultimately be discarded after serving their purpose of dismantling Nelson Chamisa’s influence.

Mnangagwa’s program has already delivered its poetic justice: those former MDC/CCC councillors who betrayed Chamisa, thinking the Tshabangu faction would last until 2028, are now finding themselves politically irrelevant. Their trust in ZANU PF’s temporary alliances has left them stranded as the ruling party consolidates total control.

The Role of Corruption in Mnangagwa’s Plan

The chaos in Mabvuku exemplifies the corrupt mechanisms employed to discredit and destroy opposition governance. The emergence of land barons like Jacob Jackson, boasting of strong council links, reflects the deliberate cultivation of scandals designed to tarnish the reputation of MDC/CCC-run councils.

Mr. Makasa and Mrs. Mazonde’s plight underscores the extent of this engineered dysfunction. Mr. Makasa’s valid payments were mysteriously rejected at Mabvuku council offices, only to be accepted at central offices, highlighting deliberate obfuscation. Meanwhile, illegal construction activities on their property continue unabated, supported by complicit municipal officials.

Residents Call for Justice as Betrayed Councillors Face Irrelevance

As Harare residents endure the fallout of Mnangagwa’s broader strategy, betrayed councillors who aligned with Tshabangu’s government-backed faction are discovering their political careers are effectively over. The program that dismantled Chamisa’s influence has now turned on them, leaving them to face the consequences of their short-sighted allegiance.

One affected resident, Mrs. Mazonde, expressed her frustration: “I have lived here for decades, raised my children here, and paid my bills religiously. Now, I am being evicted without justification. This is part of a wider scheme to destroy everything the opposition ever built.”

The Death of Opposition Programs

With ZANU PF ensuring that no MDC or CCC program succeeds at any level of governance, Harare’s residents are bearing the brunt of a well-coordinated agenda. The directive to render opposition governance ineffective, regardless of the faction, is not just a political strategy but a deliberate attack on the very idea of opposition in Zimbabwe.

This latest scandal in Mabvuku is not merely a land dispute but a microcosm of Mnangagwa’s genius construct: destroy the opposition from within, discredit their programs, and leave the electorate in disarray. As Mnangagwa chews up his temporary allies and consolidates power, the question remains—how long can Harare’s residents endure this systematic destruction of their city’s governance?– ZimEye

Chamisa Slams Mnangagwa Over Trabablas Administration

By Tinashe Sambiri

Zimbabwe’s opposition leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa, has launched a scathing critique of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government, describing the country’s current state as “trabablas.”

Chamisa’s comments follow a controversial decision by the government to rename the Mbudzi Interchange in Harare to the Trabablas Interchange. The name change has sparked widespread public debate, with many seeing it as symbolic of the country’s spiraling troubles.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Chamisa seized on the renaming as a metaphor for Zimbabwe’s broader woes, which he argues are driven by an incompetent and disorganized administration.

“IT’S ALL TRABABLAS… We are living in Trabablas times. It’s really a trabablas administration, running a trabablas economy, with trabablas policies and a trabablas currency! Especially after trabablas elections,” Chamisa declared, highlighting what he perceives as the absurdity of the government’s actions amid widespread economic and political crises.

Chamisa’s use of the term “trabablas” is a direct attack on the ruling regime, suggesting that Mnangagwa’s government is ineffective and chaotic.

The term has quickly resonated with many Zimbabweans, who are grappling with a collapsing economy, high inflation, unemployment, and a currency that has lost much of its value.

The decision to rename Mbudzi Interchange, a key junction in Harare, has been widely criticized, with critics arguing that it reflects the government’s misplaced priorities. Instead of focusing on addressing pressing issues such as poverty, healthcare, and infrastructure, Mnangagwa’s administration has been accused of engaging in symbolic gestures that do little to alleviate the country’s problems.

Chamisa, who has consistently challenged Mnangagwa’s legitimacy since the controversial 2018 elections, argues that Zimbabwe’s political and economic systems are in disarray under the current government. “We have a country where everything is falling apart: the economy is crumbling, businesses are closing, and ordinary Zimbabweans are struggling to survive,” he said.

“But instead of focusing on real solutions, the government is changing names and engaging in trivial distractions.”

His remarks also refer to the recent presidential elections, which he and many international observers have criticized as neither free nor fair. “Especially after trabablas elections,” Chamisa added, alluding to the contested nature of the polls that many believe were marred by irregularities and voter suppression.

In this context, “trabablas” has become more than just a catchphrase; it’s a symbol of the frustration and disillusionment felt by many Zimbabweans.

The term was also used by Mnangagwa’s deputy, Constantino Chiwenga three years ago at Great Zimbabwe Ruins.

Chamisa’s critique of the government resonates with the growing public sentiment that Mnangagwa’s administration is not only failing to address critical issues but is also increasingly out of touch with the realities faced by the people.

As Zimbabwe continues to grapple with a myriad of challenges, Chamisa’s pointed remarks underscore the discontent that many Zimbabweans feel about the direction in which the country is headed. Whether the ruling government will heed these criticisms or continue with its current approach remains to be seen.

Reviving Lake Chivero: A Call for Urgent Action During the Rainy Season: Dr Paul Stanford Kupakuwana

By Dr. Paul Stanford Kupakuwana
Lake Chivero, a crucial lifeline for Harare and its surrounding areas, is under siege. The lake, once a thriving ecosystem supporting countless species and the primary source of water for Zimbabwe’s capital city, is now a toxic cauldron of pollutants. Reports of poisoned fish, dead wildlife, and contaminated water have reached alarming levels. Four rhinoceroses—a symbol of Zimbabwe’s rich natural heritage—have died, alongside zebras, cattle, and other animals, underscoring the depth of this crisis. It is a wake-up call for immediate and decisive action.

Lake Chivero status

As a Chartered Professional Chemical Engineer and former member of Zimbabwe’s Water Pollution Advisory Board, I feel compelled to urge the Zimbabwean government to adopt an all-hands-on-deck approach to restore Lake Chivero’s vitality. The current rainy season offers a unique opportunity to implement large-scale decontamination efforts, as the increased water flow can help purge contaminants from the lake more effectively. However, this opportunity must not be squandered. The time for action is now.

Tried-and-Tested Chemical Engineering Solutions.

Decontaminating Lake Chivero requires a multi-pronged approach using proven chemical engineering techniques:

  1. Source Control of Pollutants
o Industrial Waste Management: Enforce stringent regulations to ensure industries treat their effluents before discharge. Installing industrial wastewater treatment plants is critical.
o Sewage Treatment: Upgrade and expand the city’s sewage treatment facilities to prevent untreated sewage from entering the lake.
o Agricultural Runoff: Encourage the use of environmentally friendly fertilizers and implement buffer zones with vegetation to reduce nutrient and pesticide runoff.
  2. In-Lake Treatment Techniques
o Aeration and Oxygenation: Install aerators to enhance oxygen levels in the lake, mitigating fish kills and promoting the breakdown of organic pollutants.
o Algae Control: Use controlled applications of safe algaecides to manage harmful algal blooms caused by nutrient overload.
o Sediment Removal: Dredge the lakebed to remove accumulated sediments rich in contaminants like heavy metals and phosphates.
  3. Bioremediation
o Introduce microorganisms and aquatic plants known for their ability to absorb and neutralize toxins. Examples include reed beds for nitrate and phosphate removal.
o Create artificial wetlands along inflow points to naturally filter pollutants before they enter the lake.
  4. Public-Private Partnerships
o Engage local businesses, international environmental organizations, and academic institutions in funding and implementing decontamination projects.
  5. Community Education and Involvement
o Educate communities around Lake Chivero on best practices for waste disposal and the impact of pollutants on the ecosystem.
o Establish local monitoring committees to report and address sources of contamination.
    Capitalizing on the Rainy Season
The rainy season provides an invaluable natural mechanism to assist in flushing out contaminants. By combining this seasonal advantage with active cleanup and restoration strategies, we can significantly accelerate the decontamination process. Efforts such as deploying floating booms to trap surface debris and using chemical coagulants to bind and settle suspended pollutants will be more effective during periods of high water flow.
    A Call to Action
The crisis at Lake Chivero is not just an ecological disaster—it is a humanitarian emergency. Every day of inaction deepens the tragedy, threatening lives, livelihoods, and Zimbabwe’s environmental heritage. The government, environmental agencies, and citizens must unite to tackle this challenge. By leveraging proven chemical engineering solutions, enforcing regulations, and taking swift action, we can reverse the damage and restore Lake Chivero to its former glory.
Lake Chivero is more than a reservoir. It is the heart of Harare, a sanctuary of biodiversity, and a cornerstone of our collective future. Let us act decisively and together, using the rainy season as a catalyst for change. For the sake of our wildlife, our communities, and our children, we must save Lake Chivero—now.

Mnangagwa Arrests The Real King Munhumutapa Over Smuggled Title

The King Without a Crown – Munhumutapa on Trial

A Clash of Thrones in a Land of Shadows

By Dorrothy Moyo | In a tale as old as empires, Harare’s magistrate court became the unlikely stage for a modern battle of crowns, as Timothy Chiminya, the self-proclaimed “King Munhumutapa,” sat quietly on a bench, draped in ancestral skins and history’s burden. Beside him, a lawyer in a sharp suit scrawled notes, their juxtaposition as striking as the contradictions at the heart of Zimbabwe’s unfolding drama.

King Munhumutapa at court with lawyer

Chiminya, accused of undermining the authority of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, claims his royal title was conferred by the whispers of a spirit medium—an inheritance borne of mysticism and tradition, unshaken by the laws of men. Yet, his title, “King Munhumutapa,” clashes violently with the presidency’s recent dalliance with imperial fantasies, as Mnangagwa was ceremonially proclaimed the head of a so-called “Mutapa Empire,” a title that bears as little traceable lineage as the one Chiminya boldly wears.

The charges leveled against Chiminya, filed by the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, accuse him of sowing discord among the country’s traditional leaders by “appointing” and “dismissing” chiefs at will—acts deemed unconstitutional and an affront to the President’s authority. But to the watchful eye, this is more than a legal tussle; it is the jealousy of a fragile throne contending with the audacity of an untamed claimant.

A Dance of Power and Perception

Prosecutors detailed how Chiminya, emboldened by his spiritual appointment, deposed Chief Seke and installed another in his place, while further meddling in the chieftainships of Chirumhanzu and Zaka. They painted him as a provocateur, a disruptor of traditional governance, a man whose bold actions destabilized the carefully curated order of Zimbabwe’s traditional leadership.

Yet, as the charges were read, murmurs in the halls questioned who truly held the right to speak for Munhumutapa. Was it Chiminya, the man in animal skins and conviction, or Mnangagwa, a politician cloaked in the tattered fabric of empire? Neither, critics argue, can trace their claim to the throne with any legitimacy, and therein lies the irony: two men sparring over a crown neither can own.

Jealousy on Trial

To many, this case reflects not just a legal dispute but the fragile ego of a head of state unwilling to share even a sliver of symbolic power. Mnangagwa’s title of “Mutapa Empire Head” has been widely dismissed as a self-serving fabrication, an attempt to project strength through historical allusion. Against this backdrop, Chiminya’s unapologetic assertion of spiritual sovereignty becomes not just a challenge but an insult to a presidency clinging to its manufactured grandeur.

The Shadow of Munhumutapa

The courtroom drama comes at a time when Zimbabweans wrestle with the ghosts of their history, seeking meaning in an era of uncertainty. The Mutapa Empire, once a beacon of African strength and ingenuity, now finds its legacy reduced to a pawn in a game of political survival. The prosecution alleges that Chiminya’s actions undermined the President, yet many ask whether it is the government itself that undermines the dignity of Zimbabwe’s past.

As Chiminya awaits his next court date on January 7, the nation watches intently. Will this self-proclaimed king fall quietly into the annals of forgotten rebels, or will his trial expose deeper fractures in a state desperate to assert its authority, even over the intangible realm of tradition and memory?

A Kingdom Divided

In this battle of thrones, neither Mnangagwa nor Chiminya emerges as the uncontested heir to Munhumutapa’s legacy. What remains is a nation caught between myth and reality, yearning for leadership that honors its history without reducing it to a political prop. And as the people listen, their whispers may yet shape the final verdict on who truly holds the right to rule—not just a title, but the hearts of a people.

Government Unleashes Ruthless Door-to-Door Crackdown To Confiscate Smuggled Goods

By A Correspondent

In a bid to salvage the country’s struggling economy, the Zimbabwean government has launched a draconian, door-to-door crackdown aimed at confiscating smuggled goods that are flooding the nation, particularly during the festive season.

The move comes as the regime seeks to boost its revenue and combat the crippling losses incurred from smuggling, which officials estimate at up to US$1 billion annually.

The operation, which began as a response to the growing scale of illicit cross-border trade, is being described as one of the most aggressive measures the government has taken against smuggling in recent years.

As Zimbabweans flock home for the Christmas and New Year holidays, many of them bring goods, primarily from neighboring South Africa, leading to a surge in smuggled goods entering the country.

Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, the Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs in the Office of the President, spoke to the press yesterday, outlining the government’s strategy for tackling this pervasive issue. “This December, we will have inter-governmental agencies stationed at our major border posts to ensure zero tolerance for smugglers. The task force will conduct door-to-door inspections of all goods in wholesale and retail shops,” Muguti said, emphasizing the government’s commitment to eradicating smuggling at all levels.

The crackdown is not limited to the borders or businesses but extends to ordinary citizens. Those found in possession of smuggled goods will face imprisonment without the option for bail, sending a clear and chilling message to anyone involved in the trade of illicit goods. This move, while hailed by the government as necessary to protect the economy and curb tax evasion, has been met with widespread concern and resentment from the public.

Many Zimbabweans, struggling under the weight of an already oppressive economic situation, view this latest initiative as another sign of a desperate regime clinging to power by any means necessary. With the country grappling with inflation, joblessness, and a broken economy, the government’s sudden focus on smuggling smacks of a financially strapped administration scrambling for quick fixes rather than addressing the root causes of the nation’s woes.

The timing of the crackdown is particularly harsh, as it coincides with the holiday season, when many families depend on remittances and goods brought in from abroad to make ends meet. The government’s actions have left citizens feeling persecuted during a time meant for celebration and family reunions. Critics argue that while smuggling may contribute to the economy’s woes, the government’s methods—targeting struggling businesses and citizens—serve only to exacerbate their suffering.

“We are already living in dire conditions, and now they want to come to our homes and take whatever little we have,” one local retailer lamented. “The government is broke, and instead of tackling the real issues like unemployment and the collapse of industries, they’re focusing on poor people trying to survive. It’s just another way to torment us.”

The move has drawn comparisons to the government’s previous attempts to increase state revenue through punitive measures. In 2024, the regime had already launched efforts to curb illegal businesses and smuggling at border posts and entertainment spots. However, the widespread crackdown on ordinary citizens’ goods has sparked a new wave of backlash, as people fear that even their personal belongings could be seized in the process.

Smuggling has indeed become a serious problem, especially with many goods entering the country via informal routes. The Zimbabwean economy, which has been ravaged by years of mismanagement, corruption, and sanctions, now faces a difficult balancing act of trying to sustain itself through harsh fiscal policies while simultaneously suppressing any form of economic survival that its citizens may engage in.

Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube, recently addressed the issue in the context of the national budget.

“Smuggling undermines our economy and exacerbates the challenges faced by local industries,” he said. “We are prepared to take all necessary steps to safeguard our economic interests, even if it means taking tough actions against those who evade the law.”

Despite such assertions, the harsh measures have only underscored the government’s desperation.

As one economist noted, “Rather than addressing the structural issues causing smuggling, such as the lack of local production and widespread poverty, the regime is resorting to authoritarian tactics to generate quick revenue.”

The government’s door-to-door crackdown serves as a stark reminder of the lengths to which a financially crippled regime will go to shore up its coffers, often at the expense of its citizens. While the authorities claim that this operation is meant to protect local industries and consumer welfare, many Zimbabweans are left wondering whether their personal freedoms and hard-earned possessions will be the next casualties in the regime’s desperate struggle for survival.

Man Brutally Assaults Mom With Axe Handle

By A Correspondent

Horror As Police Discover Five Bodies Of Illegal Miners

Crime expert Calvin Rafadi notes that many mines are left without rehabilitation, creating opportunities for zama zamas to take over ¹.

*The Complex Issue of Illegal Mining*

Illegal mining is a complex issue, fueled by:

1. *Poverty and Unemployment*: Many zama zamas are driven by desperation and lack of economic opportunities, with South Africa’s unemployment rate at 32.9% ¹.

2. *Migration*: Zama zamas often come from neighboring countries, such as Lesotho, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe, bringing mining skills with them.

3. *Criminal Syndicates*: Organized crime groups exploit zama zamas, perpetuating violence and danger ².

Mutsvangwa dropping Kerina Mujati’s name

By Kerina Mujati

Why invoke my name,

Chris Mutsvangwa,

when truth cascades from my lips

like rivers that cannot be dammed?

Do you think my voice insignificant?

No—

It burdens you,

because the people are listening.

My words are heavier than the silence you crave.

I will stand with Chiwenga,

not because he is pure,

but because he is a shadow

cast against a greater darkness.

I will stand,

until the whistle blows

and the games of cowards end.

But you—

you push for a third term,

a crown for a thief,

a murderer named Emmerson Mnangagwa.

You prop the unworthy,

ushering tyranny into a future

already trembling with grief.

Chris Mutsvangwa,

your name drips with deceit.

You wear the face of corruption,

a mask soiled with betrayal,

a visage that reeks of complicity.

We see you.

The people are listening.

And history sharpens its pen

to write your fall.

ED Plans To Replace Mohadi with Mthuli Ncube

By Baba Jukwa

Letter to the Editor

The Whisper of Thrones

Dear Editor,

The winds of Harare are alive with whispers, a tale carried through corridors of power and shadowy backrooms. It is said that His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is plotting a quiet reshuffle of his inner court, with the seasoned Kembo Mohadi standing at the edge of the political chessboard. In his place, like a phoenix rising, looms Mthuli Ncube, the banker-turned-minister who guards the nation’s coffers with a practiced hand.

If the murmurs from the President’s inner circle are to be believed, this move is less about governance and more about trust—a sentiment etched in the currency of loyalty. Mthuli Ncube, the steward of fiscal stability, is seen as the President’s man through and through. His ascent, it seems, is the culmination of a bond forged in financial strategies and sealed with the currency of unwavering allegiance.

Yet, as speculation swirls, George Charamba, the President’s trusted mouthpiece, remains conspicuously silent. His lips, often quick to quash or confirm, now seem sealed with the weight of political intrigue. From the lips of heavyweight insiders to the ears of the press, this tale has traveled, yet no official confirmation escapes the walls of power.

What does this foretell for the nation, one wonders? Is this but a tactical move, a reshuffling of pawns to shield the king? Or does it mark a deeper shift in the dynamics of leadership—a tilt toward a new axis of power where loyalty supersedes legacy?

As the drama unfolds, the nation waits, watching the chessboard with bated breath. The story of Zimbabwe’s leadership continues to be one written not just in policies but in the poetry of alliances, the rhythm of power plays, and the prose of whispered ambitions.

Asijiki!

Chipangano Terror Group Leader’s Home Burnt To Ashes

By Political Reporter-Former leader of the once-feared Chipangano militia, Jim Kunaka’s home has been reduced to ashes.

Kunaka’s home was burnt down in a suspected arson attack by unknown assailants in the early hours of Thursday.

Now a vocal critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his administration, Kunaka has described the incident as an act of political retribution aimed at silencing him.

His neighbors reported hearing unusual sounds before the blaze but were too afraid to intervene.

Emergency services were called but arrived too late to save the structure.

Kunaka, visibly shaken but defiant, addressed the media at the scene, stating, “This was not an accident. This was a deliberate attack. They think they can intimidate me into silence, but I will not stop exposing the injustices of this regime.”

Jim Kunaka once wielded significant power as the leader of Chipangano, a shadowy militia linked to the ruling party.

The group was notorious for enforcing the party’s will through intimidation, violence, and extortion, especially in Harare’s urban areas.

Kunaka, however, fell out of favor with the party and has since become one of its fiercest critics, accusing Mnangagwa’s administration of corruption, electoral fraud, and human rights abuses.

Kunaka has aligned himself with opposition movements and civil society organisations in recent years, calling for democratic reforms and accountability.

His transformation from a Zanu-PF enforcer to an outspoken opponent has made him a target for threats and harassment.

Kunaka’s home is not the first to be targeted in what many see as a growing pattern of attacks on dissenting voices.

Activists, journalists, and opposition leaders have long accused the government of using violence and intimidation to suppress criticism.

The government, however, routinely denies involvement in such incidents, attributing them to random acts of criminality.

Human rights organisations have condemned the attack, urging the Zimbabwean authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. “This incident is a chilling reminder of the risks faced by those who dare to speak out against the state,” said a representative from Amnesty International. “The government must ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”

The local community has expressed outrage and fear following the attack. “If they can do this to someone like Kunaka, who else is safe?” asked one resident, who requested anonymity.

Many residents believe the attack was politically motivated and aimed at sending a message to anyone challenging the status quo.

Chiwenga Missing At Mnangagwa Politburo

Political Reporter-Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and his co-deputy, Kembo Mohadi, did not attend the party’s last Politburo meeting.

VIDEO LOADING BELOW

https://twitter.com/zimeye/status/1869954557628870703?s=46

Analysts suggest these ministers could be part of Chiwenga’s faction, signaling a power struggle within the party.

While some observers view Chiwenga’s absence as a silent protest against moves to consolidate Mnangagwa’s grip on power, others view the development as perfect government programming as Chiwenga was on foreign government business on the day.

These features make it not only easy to play but also incredibly engaging. Moreover, the flexibility of playing on mobile devices or desktops ensures that you can enjoy roulette anytime and anywhere.

Roulette’s appeal lies in its ability to cater to different styles of play. Whether you’re a cautious bettor sticking to outside bets or a risk-taker chasing high payouts with inside bets, roulette offers something for everyone. Understanding the game’s nuances and employing smart strategies can turn each spin into an exhilarating journey.

Understanding the fundamentals: the essential rules of roulette on 1win

To play roulette effectively, it’s essential to grasp the fundamental rules. Roulette on 1win adheres to classic gameplay principles, with minor variations between game types. Here’s a breakdown of the key components:

  • Types of bets: these include wagers on specific numbers or small groups of numbers (e.g., single number bets, two-number splits, or “corner” bets on four numbers).

  • Outside bets: these cover broader options, such as betting on colors (red/black), even/odd numbers, or larger groups of numbers (e.g., “1–18” or “19–36”).

  • Roulette wheel: the European roulette wheel has 37 numbered slots, including a single “0,” whereas the American wheel adds an extra “00” slot, bringing the total to 38 and slightly increasing the house edge.

  • Objective: players aim to predict where the ball will land on the spinning wheel by placing their bets before the dealer spins the wheel.

Even though the game itself is straightforward, grasping the intricacies of various betting options can greatly influence your likelihood of winning. For instance, inside bets come with higher potential payouts but reduced chances of success, whereas outside bets provide better odds yet yield smaller returns. Crafting the optimal balance between these bet types is a key element in shaping a successful strategy. On 1win, players can easily switch between versions to explore different game mechanics and find their preferred style of play.

How beginners can maximize their chances in roulette on 1win

For players new to roulette, following these practical tips can help you build confidence and enhance your gaming experience on 1win:

  • Start with european roulette: since this version doesn’t include a double zero, it offers more favorable odds compared to its American counterpart.
  • Take advantage of 1win bonuses: make use of available promotional deals and bonuses to boost your bankroll and prolong your gaming sessions without adding extra financial strain.
  • Stick to a strict budget: decide on the maximum amount you’re prepared to spend in one session, and stay disciplined by not exceeding it, regardless of how appealing the game becomes.
  • Learn the different bet types: gain an understanding of inside and outside bets, and begin with straightforward outside bets such as red/black or even/odd, as these offer a higher chance of winning.
  • Schedule regular breaks: prolonged gaming can lead to tiredness and poor judgment. Taking short breaks can help you stay focused and maintain a responsible approach to playing.

Following these tips allows new players to ease into the game and gain experience without overwhelming financial risks. On 1win, the intuitive interface and helpful guides make it easy for players to understand the rules and start betting with confidence.

Understanding the most effective roulette strategies for every player in1win

While roulette is primarily a game of chance, employing proven strategies can help you manage your bankroll effectively and potentially improve your outcomes. Below are some of the most popular strategies to consider:

  • Martingale system: this approach involves doubling your stake after every loss, ensuring that a subsequent win not only recovers all prior losses but also secures a profit equivalent to your original bet. It’s most effective for wagers with even odds, like red vs. black or odd vs. even, though it demands a sizable bankroll to endure potential losing streaks.
  • Fibonacci method: inspired by the Fibonacci sequence (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, etc.), this strategy adjusts bets incrementally—rising after losses and falling after wins. Its slower progression compared to Martingale helps mitigate the risk of depleting your funds too quickly.
  • D’Alembert approach: this system advocates for a one-unit increase in your bet following a loss and a one-unit decrease after a win. It’s a less aggressive alternative to Martingale, offering a more balanced risk-reward dynamic for cautious players.
  • Labouchere technique: players start by setting a desired profit goal, splitting it into smaller portions. Each bet equals the total of the first and last numbers in this sequence. Winning removes numbers from the sequence, while losses add the amount wagered to the end, gradually adjusting the progression.
  • Flat betting: this straightforward strategy involves placing the same wager on every spin, regardless of the outcome. It’s a low-risk option that emphasizes consistency and helps sustain gameplay over time.

Testing these strategies in demo mode on 1win is an excellent way to determine which method aligns best with your risk tolerance and playing style. Experimenting with different approaches helps you refine your game and make more informed decisions during real-money sessions.

Zimbabwean Winger Silas Songani Extends Stay in Iceland

Sports Correspondent

Silas Songani has signed a one-year contract extension with Icelandic top-tier club Vestri, keeping him at the club for another season.

The Zimbabwean winger, who joined Vestri in 2022, has been an important part of the squad ever since. The club confirmed the extension in an official statement.

The statement reads: “Silas Songani and Benjamin Schubert have both extended their contracts with Vestri by one year.

“Silas will be entering his fourth season with Vestri, having played in the Lengjudeild karla in 2022 and 2023, and in the Besta deild karla (top-flight league) this year.

“He is an exciting winger, known for his speed and power, always posing a threat on the field.”

Marcus Rashford: “I Am No Longer Relevant at Old Trafford”

Sports Correspondent

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has responded to Marcus Rashford’s recent comments, where the striker suggested that he no longer feels wanted at the club and may be seeking a move away.

Rashford was excluded from the squad for United’s derby victory over Manchester City on Sunday, with Amorim clarifying that the omission was not due to injury or disciplinary reasons.

In a recent interview with journalist Henry Winter, Rashford revealed he is “ready for a new challenge and the next steps” in his career.

Addressing Rashford’s remarks on Wednesday ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham, Amorim expressed that his striker could still find the challenge he seeks by remaining at Old Trafford.

“I think it’s right,” the manager said when asked about Rashford’s desire for a new challenge. “We have a new challenge here. It’s a tough one, and for me, it’s the biggest challenge in football. We’re in a difficult situation, and I’ve already said this is one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“This is a fresh and significant challenge, and I really hope all my players are ready for it.”

Amorim went on to clarify that he had not yet spoken to Rashford about his comments, as he had given the squad a day off on Tuesday. “He’s our player and ready for the next game,” he said.

“I’ve spoken to many players individually and during training, but what matters to me is bringing out the best in Marcus Rashford. I don’t focus on the future, only on the present,” Amorim added.

“I want to get the best out of every player. That’s my priority. I just want to win and help the team improve. We are a better team with Marcus Rashford, and we’ll explore different ways to help him reach the high levels he’s shown in the past. That’s my focus.”

Road Safety Is Your Responsibility

Road safety is not just a matter of government policy or law enforcement; it is a collective responsibility that falls on every individual.

While authorities play a crucial role in setting rules, providing infrastructure, and enforcing traffic laws, the safety of our roads depends on how each of us behaves behind the wheel or as a pedestrian.

It’s easy to assume that road safety is solely the responsibility of lawmakers and authorities, but the reality is that every person who uses the road contributes to creating a safer or more dangerous environment. Drivers, passengers, cyclists, and even pedestrians all have a part to play in ensuring that our roads remain safe for everyone.

The Importance of Safe Driving

One of the most significant contributors to road safety is the way we drive. Speeding, distracted driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs are all actions that put not only the driver but also other road users at serious risk. Being aware of road conditions, following traffic signals, wearing seat belts, and respecting speed limits are some of the simplest yet most effective ways to avoid accidents.

Driving safely involves more than just adhering to the law—it means being conscious of other drivers and pedestrians, maintaining a safe distance, and reacting calmly in emergency situations. The decision to drive responsibly can prevent countless accidents and save lives.

Pedestrians and Cyclists: Sharing the Road

Road safety isn’t just about cars. Pedestrians and cyclists also need to be vigilant and responsible. Pedestrians should use crosswalks, avoid jaywalking, and stay alert when walking near busy streets. Similarly, cyclists must wear helmets, signal their turns, and follow traffic rules to minimize the risk of accidents.

Everyone, regardless of how they travel, plays a part in maintaining road safety. Drivers must be aware of pedestrians and cyclists, while pedestrians and cyclists should respect the rules designed to protect them.

A Culture of Responsibility

Building a culture of road safety starts with individuals taking responsibility for their actions. Whether you are driving, cycling, or walking, your behavior on the road can have a direct impact on others. Everyone should recognize that safety is not just a matter of personal well-being but also the well-being of everyone else on the road.

Conclusion

Road safety is not only about laws and regulations; it is about creating a culture where everyone takes responsibility for their actions. To ensure that roads are safe for everyone, we must all participate—drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and law enforcement. The message is simple: Drive safely, save lives. Let’s make road safety a shared priority for all.

“We Tried To Manipulate Polls And Failed”: Outgoing Ghanaian President Concedes Defeat

By A Correspondent

In a rare and admirable display of statesmanship, outgoing Ghanaian President Mahamudu Bawumia acknowledged his party’s defeat in the recent elections and offered a candid reflection on the factors that led to the loss.

Speaking on Wednesday, Bawumia openly admitted that his party’s time had simply come to an end, and no amount of political manipulation could have reversed the outcome.

Bawumia’s election concession speech was a moment of profound introspection, as he addressed both his party members and the nation. “No amount of monopolization of the media space could save us. No amount of money could stop our defeat. No amount of local and international celebrity endorsements could help us. And no amount of vote buying could stand the irresistible hurricane of change that shook our nation on Wednesday,” he said, acknowledging that despite all efforts, the winds of change were too strong to resist.

Urging his party members to stop the “blamestorming” that had begun after the election, Bawumia called for unity and reflection. “We must stop blaming one another so we can brainstorm on how to get ourselves out of the mess we have put ourselves in,” he stated, emphasizing that the future of the party appeared bleak and required serious reevaluation.

“The future of our great party looks gloomy and we have to start work on how to get ourselves out of what appears like an eternal stay in opposition,” Bawumia continued. “In life, when you are hit by the subduing blow of misfortune, you have two options. You can allow that blow to crush you, or you can move on with the enormous lessons such misfortunes often present.”

While unsure of his immediate future in politics, Bawumia was clear about the lessons learned from the defeat. “I cannot immediately tell my next move in life, politics and my role in our great party,” he confessed. “But if I should ever make a comeback to politics, the lessons I have learnt from our defeat should serve as the moral code which will guide how I guide myself.”

Among the lessons Bawumia shared, he remarked that the Ghanaian voter, though largely uneducated and simple, proved to be far more sophisticated than his party had previously thought. “I have learnt that the Ghanaian voter, though mainly uneducated and simple, is more sophisticated than we thought,” he stated.

He also acknowledged the growing discontent with corruption, incompetence, and inequality, lessons that would inform his future political approach.

Reflecting on the election’s results, Bawumia said, “I have learnt that hate of corruption can win. It has taught me that hate of incompetence can win.

Our defeat has taught me that hate of impunity can win.” He continued by emphasizing that hatred of corruption and the obscene display of ill-gotten wealth were driving forces behind the defeat. “I have learnt that the hate of the obscene display of ill-gotten opulence wins.

I have learnt that hate of mediocrity and deception definitely wins. And I have learnt that hating evil will forever triumph over the love of evil. That was what happened on Wednesday.”

Another key takeaway for Bawumia was the importance of surrounding oneself with capable and principled individuals. Reflecting on his own leadership, he noted, “While Rawlings appointed the likes of Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas as deputy ministers, I made the mistake of giving that respectable position to the likes of John Oti Bless.”

He acknowledged that had he kept voices of reason around him, such as Ben Dotsei Malor and Dr. Raymond Atuguba, they would have brought much-needed stability and respectability to his administration.

“I have now realised, rather too late, that if I had kept the likes of Ben Dotsei Malor and Dr. Raymond Atuguba around me, they would have injected some semblance of sanity into the presidency and given that high office an aura of respectability and decency,” Bawumia reflected.

He also criticized the sycophants who surrounded him, stating, “The praise-singing sycophants who act on the dictates of their stomachs are only specialized at telling you what you want to hear.

Unfortunately, I did not listen to voices of reason. Our elders say a disease that will kill a man first breaks sticks into his ears.”

Bawumia’s concession speech marks a moment of rare humility and reflection in Ghanaian politics, as he openly confronts the failures of his party and the lessons learned from their electoral defeat. Whether this will lead to a genuine transformation of the political landscape in Ghana remains to be seen, but Bawumia’s candidness in accepting responsibility for his party’s loss is a significant step toward introspection and growth.

Horror As Two Die In Bus, Car Collision

By A Correspondent

A devastating head-on collision between a bus and a Toyota Fortuner occurred near Makhado Business Centre on the Bulawayo-Beitbridge highway early this morning, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives and leaving one person injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when the bus and the Toyota Fortuner collided head-on, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Emergency services were quickly summoned to the scene, where they found two people deceased and one injured.

The injured victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to a mortuary for further examination.

The cause of the accident is still unknown, but authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The Bulawayo-Beitbridge highway has seen its fair share of accidents in recent times, prompting concerns about road safety in the region.

Desperate Mnangagwa Regime Launches Door-to-Door Crackdown To Confiscate Smuggled Goods

“Everything Is Trabablas”: President Chamisa Taunts Mnangagwa Over Deepening Crisis

Female Robber Attacks Police Boss, Steals Cash in Harare

By A Correspondent

In a brazen robbery, Assistant Inspector Dickson Mashada, a senior police officer, was violently attacked and robbed of $420 in cash and his service identity documents while riding a pirate taxi in Harare.

Incident Details

Mashada was traveling from the Harare Central Business District to Newlands when two female passengers and one male passenger turned on him near Harare Central Remand Prison. One woman grabbed him by the neck, while the other produced a knife, demanding his wallet. After a brief struggle, they took his wallet, containing his police identity card, national identity card, bank cards, and cash.

Investigation and Concerns

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident and stated that the police are investigating and pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrators. The robbery highlights the escalating crime rates in Harare and the vulnerability of law enforcement officials.

Related Incidents

Another robbery occurred in Hopley, where 28-year-old Vimbai Mufungi was robbed of $920 by two men armed with knives. They stole her handbag, containing an iPhone, Itel cellphone, national identity card, medical aid cards, power bank, and house keys.

Inspector Chakanza emphasized the police’s commitment to addressing these escalating crimes, urging citizens to report any information about the incidents. The robberies underscore the need for enhanced security measures to protect citizens and prevent impersonation of police officers for fraudulent activities.

Fresh Details Emerge On Mnangagwa Spy Agent’s Mysterious Death

By Crime and Courts-The family of the late member of the Military Intelligence who died in unclear circumstances is demanding answers from Authorities.

Hillary Nleya went missing last month after being last seen at Redwood along the Plumtree-Bulawayo road.

His body was later discovered hanging from a tree in Figtree, Matabeleland South.

Since then, the authorities have not provided clear answers to how the spy soldier died and rather said they were treating the case as a potential suicide.

However, sources close to the investigation said the death was linked to his work in military intelligence, raising speculation about foul play.

The Military Intelligence operates as a covert arm of the Zimbabwe National Army, tasked with managing high-level state security matters.

Its methods reportedly include eliminating individuals deemed security risks, with a chilling record of disappearances and killings.

The department is believed to have been involved in the disappearance of journalist and activist Itai Dzamara on March 9, 2015, whose fate remains unknown nearly a decade later.

Another infamous case tied to military intelligence is that of Rashiwe Guzha, a typist with the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) who disappeared in May 1990, amid reports of her romantic involvement with the late CIO Deputy Director Edson Shirihuru.

Shirihuru himself died in 1993 after vowing to reveal the truth behind Guzha’s disappearance if convicted in court.

Following the 2017 military coup that ousted President Robert Mugabe, President Emmerson Mnangagwa restructured the state security framework, sidelining the CIO, which he viewed as pro-Mugabe, and consolidated state security responsibilities under Zimbabwe Military Intelligence.

Critics have accused Mnangagwa of using this unit to target his perceived enemies and suppress dissent.

The mysterious death of Hillary Nleya has drawn public attention, particularly after his relative, Senator Lwazi Sibanda, who delivered an emotional address in Parliament.

Speaking during a recent debate on the Death Penalty Abolition Bill, Sibanda described Nleya’s death as a murder by unknown assailants.
“I rise with a heavy heart,” she said. “I am a woman, a mother, and a Senator of this country, yet I stand here with a cousin lying in the mortuary—Hillary Nleya—whom we searched for over two weeks, only to find him dead in Figtree. He was murdered by a person we do not yet know.”
The Senator recounted the anguish of planning her cousin’s burial while fulfilling her parliamentary duties. Nleya is to be buried in Dombodema, Plumtree.

In her address, Sibanda condemned the increasing violence in Zimbabwe, citing a recent case in which a family’s hut was burned down by unknown assailants while they were asleep inside.

She also lamented the challenges of forgiving perpetrators who show no remorse, highlighting the pain felt by families of murder victims.

Her remarks resonated with broader concerns about the state of law and order in Zimbabwe, where politically motivated killings and disappearances have long been a source of public fear and distrust.

Efforts to obtain a comment from the Zimbabwe National Army were unsuccessful.

Chamisa Rebel MPs Pocket Mthuli Bribes

By Political Reporter-Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube has lavished money, residential stands, and fuel perks on Members of Parliament in a bid to win their loyalty.

This comes amid growing discontent among lawmakers, particularly those affiliated with the controversial Sengezo Tshabangu-led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), who refused to step down after CCC founder Nelson Chamisa stepped aside.

The rebellious MPs, who had previously threatened to block the national budget, have now been silenced by Ncube’s generous incentives.

Many of these parliamentarians were vocal in their demands for the fulfillment of government promises, including residential stands and other benefits.

One such MP, Marondera Central’s Caston Matewu, criticized the government for failing to pay for lawmakers’ hotel accommodations, describing their situation as embarrassing and unsustainable. “We have been reduced to a laughingstock,” Matewu lamented.

In response, Ncube announced a substantial increase in budgetary allocations for Parliament, aimed at addressing MPs’ grievances.

He unveiled the following package:

  • An additional ZiG378 million for the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and the clearance of arrears.
  • ZiG50 million for tools of trade and office equipment for MPs and parliamentary staff.
  • ZiG72 million for MPs’ fuel requirements.
  • ZiG250 million to support additional motor vehicle needs.
  • ZiG200 million for constituency offices and other parliamentary requirements.

Ncube also pledged to engage the Ministry of Local Government to expedite the provision of residential stands for MPs.

This move has sparked criticism, with some observers accusing Ncube of using state resources to buy the loyalty of MPs at a time when ordinary citizens are struggling to make ends meet.

The development further highlights the deepening divisions within the CCC and raises questions about the ethical implications of the government’s handling of public funds.

With the budget crisis temporarily averted, the focus now shifts to the long-term implications of this unprecedented financial largesse.

Critics argue that such tactics undermine democratic accountability and set a dangerous precedent for leveraging public funds to resolve political disputes.

Doctor, Nurse, Pharmacist Cleared In Drugs Allegations

By A Correspondent| A top Harare medical doctor who was arrested together with a registered nurse and a pharmacist after being implicated in an illegal drugs scandal involving pethidine have been cleared of the allegations.

Tanaka Chimuka, Tapiwa Mutebuka and Sam Chasaya were arrested by detectives from CID drugs who claimed to have had received information from an informant linking them to the scandal.

This was after the capture of one Osla Mpamhanga who was allegedly on his way to deliver the drugs, 40 by 100mgs pethidine solution and 40 injection needles.

From the onset, the three argued that they are personel in the medical industry exempt from arrest as they are part of the authorized persons to administer, possess and supply drugs like pethidine.

However, the State insisted on prosecuting them but failed to lead incriminating evidence that the trio was dealing in the alleged drugs resulting in the collapse of the case after the trio mounted an application for discharge.

This follows their failure to have the recovered drugs produced in court as exhibits and also failure to have the biker, Mupamhanga, testify in court, to confirm whether he had been sent by the trio or not.

In their application for discharge, the trio represented by Admire Rubaya, Stephen Chikotora and Malvern Mapako, the trio described the prosecution as “a classical failed fishing expedition where the State has failed to even catch a small tadpole.”

They argued that the State had failed to lead anything incriminating against them and had also failed to prove that pethidine was a dangerous drug at law.

It was their argument that the State had failed to prove the said drug was pethidine and had not led any expert evidence to support that the recovered items were indeed pethidine.

“The State was obliged to prove that the alleged drug was pethidine in the first place. The State failed to produce the said drug into evidence and failed to prove that the subject matter was a dangerous drug called pethidine,” their lawyers argued.

The suspects also argued that they were never arrested in possession of the alleged drugs but only through implication by a person who was never arrested or through information by an informant who was never brought to court to testify against them.

“There is no evidence which has been led by the State that the Accused persons had the requisite knowledge of the existence of the alleged Pethidine since it was in the physical control of a person who was never arrested by the police and has not been accounted for.”

Another Chiwenga Ally Fired

By Political Reporter-Zanu PF in Masvingo has fired a ward councilor for suporting Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Brighton Mushekwa the party’s Bikita ward 12 councillor was verbally dismissed by Zanu PF Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs John Paradza during a District Coordinating Committee (DCC) meeting.

Mushekwa stands accused of refusing to chant the contentious slogan “2030 vanenge vachipo,” perceived as an endorsement of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s continued rule beyond 2028, despite the slogan lacking official approval from the party’s Central Committee.

The councillor, however, claims his expulsion is based on unfounded allegations that he supports Chiwenga’s faction in the party’s escalating succession battle.

Factional tensions have been brewing within Zanu PF as Mnangagwa and his deputy, Chiwenga, jockey for influence ahead of the 2028 elections.

Chiwenga, a former army general instrumental in ousting Robert Mugabe in 2017, is seen by many as vying for the top position.

Meanwhile, Mnangagwa’s allies are pushing a narrative of his leadership extending into the next decade, symbolized by the controversial “2030 vanenge vachipo” slogan.

This slogan has sparked a divide in the party, with Mnangagwa loyalists using it as a litmus test for allegiance, while others, like Mushekwa, argue that it has not been constitutionally endorsed.

Mushekwa denies belonging to any faction, emphasizing his commitment to Zanu PF’s constitution and its processes.
“I support the sitting President and the party’s constitutional obligations. The Central Committee is the highest decision-making body, and no one has the authority to enforce unapproved slogans,” Mushekwa stated.

He added that his refusal to chant the slogan does not signify disloyalty but adherence to party rules. “These baseless allegations are being used to abuse power and settle political scores,” he said.

Mushekwa also criticized the use of verbal expulsions, pointing out that Zanu PF’s constitution mandates formal hearings and proper protocols for disciplinary actions.

His claims were backed by Zanu PF Masvingo Provincial Spokesperson Pepukai Chiwewe, who clarified that any expulsion without due process is invalid.

Despite Mnangagwa previously indicating he would not stand in 2030, figures like Paradza and other provincial leaders have aggressively championed the slogan.

They have reportedly threatened to punish members who refuse to endorse it, further inflaming divisions within the party.

Masvingo Province remains a hotbed for factional activity, with leaders leveraging slogans and public rallies to consolidate power.

Chiwewe, however, downplayed the disputes, calling insults during rallies “normal” and advising against taking them seriously.

Magaya’s Boarding School Continues Advertising Despite Long History of Kids’ Abuse

Magaya-Linked School Filchrist Hill Faces Controversy Amid New Advertisements

By Dorrothy Moyo | Filchrist Hill Boarding School, a Shamva-based institution linked to controversial preacher Walter Magaya, has resurfaced in the spotlight after a new advertisement for student enrollment was posted on social media. The advert, promoted through a socialite’s Facebook page, has reignited concerns surrounding the school, which has faced repeated allegations of abuse and misconduct over the years.

Background of Controversy

The school, led by headmaster Jebes Muchapondwa, has been at the center of scandal since 2019, when parents accused him of sexually, physically, and emotionally abusing students. Reports allege that Muchapondwa subjected students to inappropriate behavior, including making girls work long hours, verbally abusing them, and entering female hostels unannounced.

The most alarming allegations involve claims that Muchapondwa cut the hair of female students and took it to Magaya’s church for suspected rituals. Concerned parents told ZimEye they feared their children were being groomed for purposes beyond education.

“Female pupils are called to the headmaster’s office at 10 p.m. for closed-door discussions. There is no matron, and the headmaster enters the female hostels even when learners are bathing. My daughter was verbally abused and told she had ‘jelly buttocks.’ When I confronted him, he blocked me.”

Despite the gravity of these accusations, no concrete actions were taken to address them, leaving parents disillusioned and fearful for their children’s safety.

Boardroom Squabbles and Leadership Issues

In addition to allegations of abuse, Filchrist Hill has also been plagued by internal management problems. Earlier this year, Jebes Muchapondwa stepped down from his role in the Premier Netball League due to irreconcilable differences. This resignation further cast a shadow over his leadership at the school.

Muchapondwa, who has also withdrawn his teams from national netball leagues, cited frustration with unresolved conflicts, adding to questions about his ability to manage both sports and educational initiatives effectively.

Magaya’s Involvement

The connection between Filchrist Hill and Walter Magaya, a convicted medical fraudster, has fueled public skepticism about the school’s integrity. Magaya’s controversial history, coupled with allegations of ritualistic practices at the school, has led to calls for increased scrutiny and accountability.

New Advertisements Amid Old Scandals

The school’s recent Facebook advertisement, encouraging parents to enroll their children, has sparked mixed reactions. Many wonder whether the institution can rebuild trust given its history of abuse allegations and managerial disputes.

The advertisement, featuring a socialite endorsing the school, promotes opportunities at Filchrist Hill Boarding School while omitting its checkered past. Observers have questioned whether families will be willing to send their children to an institution mired in controversy.

Public Reaction and Calls for Accountability

The resurfacing of Filchrist Hill in the public eye has reignited calls for government intervention and thorough investigations into the allegations against Muchapondwa and the school’s connection to Walter Magaya.

“This school has a history that no amount of advertising can erase. Parents must think twice before enrolling their children here,” said one concerned citizen.

As Filchrist Hill attempts to attract new students, its ability to address past accusations and restore its reputation remains uncertain. The situation raises broader questions about accountability and governance in private educational institutions across Zimbabwe.

Jailed Woman Who Behaved ‘Like Grace Mugabe’ Acquitted

Bulawayo Mother Freed After Controversial Incarceration for Disciplining Son

Ms. Panashe Mpofu, a single mother from New Luveve, Bulawayo, who was compared by some to Grace Mugabe for her strict disciplinary actions, has been released after spending a harrowing month in Mlondolozi Prison. Her imprisonment for disciplining her 15-year-old son and three other teenagers who hosted a Vuzu party during school hours had sparked widespread debate about parenting, justice, and societal values in Zimbabwe.

From a Mother’s Discipline to a Prison Cell

Ms. Mpofu’s ordeal began on November 14, when she rushed home from church to find her son and his friends drinking alcohol and watching X-rated movies at a neighbor’s house. In what she describes as a moment of parental concern and frustration, she disciplined the teenagers with a stick.

“I acted as any concerned parent would,” Ms. Mpofu said. “I wanted to correct their behavior before it got worse. No one was harmed.”

However, her actions were swiftly criminalized. Accused of injuring one of the teenagers, she was arrested, spent a night in police custody, and was sentenced to five years in prison, with three years suspended, at West Commonage Court. She was not allowed to call witnesses to testify on her behalf.

The harsh penalty left Ms. Mpofu in despair, questioning how her actions as a mother could lead to such severe consequences.

Grace Mugabe Comparisons and the Public Outcry

Many compared Ms. Mpofu’s actions to the infamous disciplinary methods of Grace Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s former First Lady, known for her unrestrained public outbursts. Critics labeled her behavior as excessive, while supporters argued that she was a mother trying to protect her child from societal vices.

Public sentiment largely rallied around Ms. Mpofu, with calls for a review of her sentence. Advocacy groups and community members highlighted the disproportionate punishment meted out to a struggling single mother trying to instill discipline.

A Month of Despair

During her incarceration, Ms. Mpofu faced immense hardship. She lost her job as a general hand at a local company, leaving her uncertain about how to provide for her son.

“We worked in the gardens, and I often thought of ending my life,” she revealed. “I know suicide is not the answer, but I felt like my life was over.”

Her son, the center of the incident, was left without guidance, compounding Ms. Mpofu’s distress.

Justice Prevails: Release Ordered

On Monday, Bulawayo High Court Judge Evangelista Kabasa reviewed Ms. Mpofu’s case and ordered her release, acknowledging the excessive nature of the sentence.

Ms. Mpofu expressed immense relief and gratitude to those who supported her during her ordeal. “To everyone who stood by me, I cannot thank you enough. Your prayers and words of encouragement meant a lot to me,” she said.

A New Beginning Amid Uncertainty

As she steps out of prison, Ms. Mpofu faces the daunting task of rebuilding her life. With no job and mounting responsibilities, she remains focused on providing for her 15-year-old son.

“I’m a single mother trying to give my son a better life. Losing my job means I don’t know where to start, but I’m determined to move forward,” she said.

A Controversial Case With Broader Implications

Ms. Mpofu’s case has ignited discussions about the balance between parental discipline and legal boundaries. While her actions may have been harsh, her punishment has been widely viewed as excessive, highlighting gaps in Zimbabwe’s justice system.

Her story, echoing comparisons to Grace Mugabe, raises questions about societal standards and the treatment of mothers navigating complex parenting challenges.

Ms. Mpofu’s release offers her a second chance, but her journey serves as a cautionary tale about the delicate line between discipline and legality—and the heavy toll it can take on a family.

Guilty Govt Launches “Smuggling Crackdown” Amid Gold Smuggling Scandal

By Dorrothy Moyo | Analysis| In a sudden and aggressive move, the Zimbabwean government has launched a door-to-door crackdown on smuggled goods, coinciding with recent sanctions tied to a gold smuggling and election-rigging scheme that implicates Kamlesh Pattni, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s largest business partner.

This operation, touted as a fight against the estimated US$1 billion annual losses due to smuggling, is raising suspicions of a deeper agenda—potentially an effort to obscure the high-level corruption unearthed by international sanctions.

A Convenient Timing

The crackdown comes shortly after global sanctions were announced against individuals and entities involved in gold smuggling networks, with evidence pointing to Pattni’s role in financing election rigging through illicit gold deals. Pattni, a controversial figure with a history of corruption scandals across Africa, has long been associated with Mnangagwa’s business dealings. Critics argue the government’s sudden overdrive on smuggling is a smokescreen to shift focus from these damning allegations.

Sweeping Measures or Smokescreen?

Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti announced that a taskforce comprising inter-governmental agencies has been deployed to major border posts and roads to intercept smuggled goods. These agencies include the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra), the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), and the Consumer Protection Commission.

“This December, we will have inter-governmental agencies stationed at our major border posts to ensure zero tolerance for smugglers. The taskforce will conduct door-to-door inspections of all goods in wholesale and retail shops,” Muguti said.

Yet, observers question why the government is only now ramping up efforts against smuggling—particularly when the sanctioned gold smuggling operations are allegedly linked to Mnangagwa’s inner circle.

Targeting the Wrong Smugglers?

The crackdown focuses on consumer goods such as groceries, clothing, alcohol, electrical gadgets, and vehicles, with diasporans returning for the holidays warned against failing to declare their goods. However, it conspicuously avoids addressing the gold smuggling networks that international investigators have linked to Zimbabwe’s leadership.

Critics argue that the government is deflecting attention from the core issue—systemic corruption and the illicit gold trade—by targeting smaller smuggling activities involving everyday goods.

“The timing is no coincidence. By focusing on consumer goods, the government is attempting to distract from the revelations of high-level gold smuggling that implicates Mnangagwa’s close allies,” said a political analyst who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Warnings and Arrests

Authorities have arrested over 15,000 individuals for smuggling since January, with officials warning that the festive season will see even stricter enforcement. Diasporans returning for the holidays face arrest for undeclared items, while businesses caught using parallel market exchange rates or selling counterfeit goods are also in the crosshairs.

Eng Muguti issued a stern warning: “There will be no fines for violations at roadblocks. Those caught will be arrested on the spot. You risk spending Christmas behind bars.”

Despite these warnings, questions remain about whether this operation will truly address Zimbabwe’s smuggling crisis—or if it’s simply a tool to silence dissent and distract from the deeper scandals involving the nation’s leadership.

Pattni and Mnangagwa: The Untouched Connection

Kamlesh Pattni’s involvement in the gold smuggling scandal underscores the hypocrisy of the government’s sudden anti-smuggling zeal. While thousands of ordinary citizens face arrest for minor infractions, those implicated in large-scale gold smuggling, including Pattni, remain untouched.

Pattni, a central figure in the sanctions, has been accused of laundering millions of dollars through Zimbabwe’s gold exports to fund election rigging operations that bolstered Mnangagwa’s regime. Despite mounting evidence, the government has yet to take meaningful action against him or his associates.

A Nation in Crisis

Zimbabwe’s crackdown on smuggling may appear to be a move to protect the economy and local industry, but many see it as a strategic deflection from the deeper corruption plaguing the nation. With the president and his allies increasingly under international scrutiny, the question remains: will Zimbabwe confront its gold smuggling epidemic at the highest levels, or will ordinary citizens bear the brunt of a campaign designed to protect the powerful?

Pollution Hits Lake Chivero

By A Correspondent

Massive pollution has led to the suspension of fishing activities at Lake Chivero, one of Zimbabwe’s seven Ramsar-protected sites, following reports of over a thousand dead fish washing ashore. This alarming development has raised concerns about the lake’s environmental health and the safety of its aquatic resources.

Recent reports indicate a sharp increase in toxic algae blooms in the lake, resulting in the deaths of several animals. Among the casualties are four rhinos, three zebras, four wildebeests, and four fish eagles. The rising pollution levels have made the lake a danger to both wildlife and humans.

The situation has sparked outrage and concern from local residents. The Harare Residents Association Trust has called on the city council to urgently address the issue. “The situation at Lake Chivero is not to be taken lightly. The city council needs to tell us what is going on, especially regarding the water. We all know that the Harare catchment area depends on the lake for its water, and for us to see the pictures of dead fish and animals circulating on social media is alarming. Are we safe from the contamination that has taken place, and what are they doing to ensure our safety?” asked Mr. Precious Shumba, chairperson of the Harare Residents Trust.

Reuben Akili, the director of the Combined Harare Residents Association, also expressed concern over the ongoing issue of water contamination at Lake Chivero. “This issue of water contamination at Lake Chivero has been going on for a long time, and the city fathers have been given leeway for too long. Now it’s time for the government and relevant authorities, including bodies like EMA, to intervene and fix this once and for all. A state of emergency or disaster has to be declared because if fish and animals are dying, what about us humans?” Akili stated.

Mr. Goodlife Mudzingwa, the program manager at the Community Water Alliance, further emphasized the need for urgent action. “Our sewer plants have a design capacity of 80 megalitres, but we are currently channeling about 200 megalitres of sewage through them. We need to expand our plants to accommodate this excess, which is now being dumped into the lake, causing animal deaths and posing a health risk to residents,” Mudzingwa said.

The ongoing pollution crisis at Lake Chivero has highlighted the urgent need for action to protect the lake’s ecosystem and safeguard the health of both wildlife and humans.

Mnangagwa Assembles Private Army to Counter Chiwenga’s Military

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | President Emmerson Mnangagwa is reportedly building a private militia to counter his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, in what insiders describe as an escalating power struggle between Zimbabwe’s top leaders.

This investigation reveals that the Mnangagwa family, led by the president and his wife, Auxillia Mnangagwa, has been assembling an armed network since 2021, comprising convicted criminals and state security forces to consolidate power and neutralize potential threats from Chiwenga’s military faction.

Auxillia Mnangagwa’s Shadow Role in Security Affairs

First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, fresh from receiving her controversial hospitality degree, has emerged as a central figure in this shadowy operation. Reports link her to deploying soldiers, Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operatives, and riot police to enforce her will.

In 2021, Auxillia used state security forces to impose her brother, a convicted armed robber, as Chief Negomo in Chiweshe. Video evidence and eyewitness accounts contradict her public denials of involvement. Despite her claim that she merely attended the event as an observer, footage shows her actively participating in the installation ceremony and addressing the crowd with a microphone.

A Convicted Criminal at the Helm of State Residences

The appointment of Paradzai Kutyauripo, Auxillia’s brother, as Chief Negomo raises serious national security concerns. Kutyauripo, who served four years in Chikurubi Maximum Prison for armed robbery, was released early through a presidential amnesty signed by Mnangagwa during his tenure as Justice Minister. Kutyauripo now holds dual roles as Chief Negomo and Director of State Residences—a combination that has sparked outrage.

“Is the nation safe?” investigative journalist Simba Chikanza asked, highlighting the risks of Kutyauripo’s criminal network infiltrating the nation’s highest offices. “What does it mean for an armed robber to oversee all State Residences? Any criminal fleeing the law could simply take refuge in State House, ending any investigation.”

Militarized Takeover of Chiweshe

During the 2021 takeover of the Negomo chieftainship, Auxillia reportedly led a military motorcade into Chiweshe, accompanied by heavily armed soldiers and police. Residents allege they were intimidated into submission, with soldiers seizing personal belongings and silencing dissent.

The late Chief Negomo’s wife was seen on camera crying as Auxillia’s forces allegedly attempted to confiscate her property. Family sources claim Auxillia declared, “If you all don’t want this to happen, I will take the pin myself and wear it.”

Auxillia has denied all allegations, but her involvement is corroborated by multiple witnesses, video footage, and local leaders who claim the First Lady’s power extends far beyond her ceremonial role.

Mnangagwa’s Private Army: A Counter to Chiwenga?

Insiders suggest Mnangagwa’s actions are part of a broader strategy to counterbalance Chiwenga, whose military ties make him a formidable rival. The creation of a private militia comprising convicted criminals and rogue state agents signals Mnangagwa’s intent to secure his political survival at all costs.

Chiwenga has been vocal in criticizing Mnangagwa’s administration, accusing it of rampant corruption. Many interpret this as a direct challenge to the president’s authority. With tensions between the two escalating, Zimbabwe’s security apparatus is increasingly polarized, with factions loyal to Mnangagwa and Chiwenga locked in a dangerous power struggle.

A Nation at Risk

Observers warn that Mnangagwa’s reliance on armed criminals and rogue operatives undermines national security and risks plunging Zimbabwe into chaos. The First Lady’s unprecedented role in deploying state resources for personal and political gain raises further questions about governance under Mnangagwa.

As the feud between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga intensifies, Zimbabweans are left to wonder: how much longer can the country endure the fallout of this high-stakes political battle?

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for more updates.

Challenged Candidatures

Prophet Magaya, Kweza, and Machana’s nominations are under review by the Ethics Committee, which will announce successful candidates on December 23. The committee must carefully evaluate evidence and allegations, ensuring candidates meet ZIFA statutes.

Candidates in the Running

  1. Nqobile Magwizi: Businessman
  2. Philemon Machana: Former ZIFA executive committee member
  3. Prophet Walter Magaya: Presidential candidate
  4. Benjani Mwaruwari: Former Warriors captain
  5. Themba Msliwa: Former legislator

Ethics Committee’s Role

With the elections approaching, the outcome of the Ethics Committee’s review will shape Zimbabwean football’s future.

Chiwenga-ED War Intensifies as Councillor Suspended Over Mnangagwa 2030 Slogan

The escalating factionalism within Zimbabwe’s ruling ZANU-PF party has reached a boiling point, with the suspension of a Masvingo-based councillor over his refusal to endorse the controversial slogan, “2030 VaMnangagwa Vanenge Vachipo” (Mnangagwa Will Rule Till 2030).

Brighton Mushekwa, a ZANU-PF councillor for Ward 12 in Bikita, was verbally expelled from his position by the party’s deputy secretary for youth affairs, John Paradza. This follows allegations that Mushekwa opposed the slogan and was aligned with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s faction, which is reportedly angling for leadership beyond 2028.

The slogan, which originated in Masvingo Province, has been a source of division in ZANU-PF, with party members claiming it has not been approved by the Central Committee, the party’s highest decision-making body. Despite this, provincial leaders have been enforcing its adoption, threatening dissenters with expulsion.

Councillor Denies Factional Ties

Mushekwa denies any allegiance to Chiwenga’s camp, maintaining that he is a constitutionalist who supports the sitting president, Emmerson Mnangagwa. “I don’t belong to any faction. I support the current president and the party constitution, which is the guiding document for all members,” Mushekwa told TellZim News.

He also argued that no one has the mandate to force members to chant a slogan that has not received formal approval. “The party constitution says the Central Committee must approve all slogans. ‘2030 VaMnangagwa Vanenge Vachipo’ is not part of our constitution. Forcing members to chant it is an abuse of power,” he said.

Mushekwa’s alleged verbal expulsion occurred during a District Coordinating Committee (DCC) meeting in Bikita after complaints that he was opposing the slogan. However, ZANU-PF Masvingo Provincial Spokesperson Pepukai Chiwewe dismissed the expulsion as invalid, stating that due process had not been followed.

“There are protocols for suspending or expelling a member, including hearings from district to national levels. If these were not followed, then the expulsion is not valid,” Chiwewe said.

Factional Tensions and Allegations of Corruption

The controversy comes amid growing tensions between factions loyal to Mnangagwa and those aligned with Chiwenga. Recently, the vice president publicly declared that corruption has destroyed Zimbabwe, a statement widely interpreted as a veiled attack on Mnangagwa’s leadership.

Masvingo Province has become a hotbed of factional battles, with local leaders reportedly adamant about enforcing the slogan despite Mnangagwa’s own indications that he will not seek office in 2030.

Observers believe the slogan’s enforcement is a strategic move to solidify Mnangagwa’s grip on power while sidelining perceived threats within the party. However, dissenters like Mushekwa argue that these tactics undermine party unity and constitutional integrity.

What’s Next for ZANU-PF?

The factional infighting within ZANU-PF raises questions about the party’s stability as it faces growing economic challenges and public discontent. With provincial leaders threatening punitive measures against those opposing the slogan, the internal cracks appear to be widening.

Mushekwa’s case is expected to set a precedent for how dissenting voices are treated within the ruling party, as ZANU-PF continues to grapple with its leadership struggles ahead of the 2028 elections.– TellZim

Is Mnangagwa Losing His Grip on Power?

By A Correspondent

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has issued a strong warning to cabinet ministers who regularly miss his weekly cabinet meetings, instead sending their deputies to represent them.

During his final cabinet meeting of 2024 at State House on Tuesday, December 17, Mnangagwa made it clear that such practices would no longer be tolerated in the coming year. He stated:

“The troubling trend of ministers being absent from meetings is unacceptable.”

In some instances, lower-level officials are sent to attend, merely occupying space without meaningful contribution.

Looking ahead to 2025, Mnangagwa instructed the Chief Secretary to closely monitor attendance and ensure that ministers and officials comply with the expectations, or face serious consequences.

“Permanent Secretaries must ensure that, in their absence, only directors or higher-ranking officials attend Working Party Meetings,” he added. “If deputy ministers are assigned, they must be properly equipped to engage in discussions effectively, with their deputies thoroughly briefed to ensure productive participation.”

In a further announcement, Mnangagwa revealed that starting next year, deputy ministers will be required to sign performance contracts, similar to those signed by their senior counterparts.

The president also voiced dissatisfaction with the current state of government websites, emphasizing that despite the country’s wealth of ICT talent, many ministry websites remain outdated or non-functional.

Additionally, Mnangagwa called for significant improvements in the government’s communication strategies, urging more effective dissemination of information.

Mutsvangwa: Zimbabweans Have The Right To Call For Mnangagwa Third Term

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa has claimed that the people of Zimbabwe want President Emmerson Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2028.

Speaking to the media in Harare on Tuesday, Mutsvangwa argued that citizens have the right to call for Mnangagwa to extend his presidency beyond the constitutionally mandated two terms.

Mnangagwa is currently serving his second and final term according to Zimbabwe’s constitution, but Mutsvangwa insisted that many Zimbabweans, particularly Zanu PF supporters, want him to continue leading beyond 2028.

“Yes, we are aware that the President respects the constitution,” Mutsvangwa said. “President Mnangagwa has already stated that he will not seek a third term. However, let me make it clear—the people have the right to urge him to stay in office. We are witnessing the great work he is doing.”

Mutsvangwa added, “The fact is, citizens have already expressed their desire for the President to stay beyond 2028.”

Mnangagwa Denies Giving President Boko 10 Cattle

By A Correspondent

The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana, has denied reports that President Emmerson Mnangagwa gifted Ankole cattle to Botswana’s President, Duma Boko.

On Tuesday, the Botswana newspaper Tuesday Grill reported that Mnangagwa had presented 10 Ankole cattle to President Boko during a SADC meeting, as a gesture of congratulations for his historic victory in the general election. The report also mentioned that Boko had not transported the cattle to Botswana, as he is not a farmer.

In response to these claims, Mangwana commented: “President [Mnangagwa] did not give President [Duma Boko] Ankole cattle.”

Following the report, Emang Mutapati, the Press Secretary to the President of Botswana, issued a statement dismissing the claims as “baseless and unfounded.”

Despite the rebuttal from Botswana’s government, Tuesday Grill has reaffirmed its commitment to the accuracy of its reporting. In a subsequent statement, the publication insisted, “We stand by our original story,” reiterating their confidence in the facts presented.

Alick Macheso Deleted

Alick Macheso Removed from Playlist Amid Controversial Car Gift from Wicknell Chivayo

Alick Macheso, one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated musicians, has found himself at the center of controversy as fans react to revelations that he received a car gift from business tendercoon, Wicknell Chivayo. The allegations have sparked a wave of backlash, with loyal listeners taking drastic measures in protest.

A social media user under the handle nyamakaishi777 publicly declared that Macheso’s music, alongside other artists believed to have accepted gifts from Chivayo, has been purged from their streaming library. “I just deleted every track from those who received cars from my Apple Music and left Mukanya [Thomas Mapfumo],” the user posted, referencing the legendary musician Mapfumo, who is lauded for his unwavering stance against Zimbabwe’s political elite.

This backlash follows an earlier call by Zimbabwe Freedom of Expression to support Thomas Mapfumo, who rejected the association with Chivayo’s “gravy train.” The statement resonated deeply with segments of Zimbabweans frustrated by what they perceive as the intersection of art and political favoritism.

The controversy surrounding Wicknell Chivayo, a controversial figure known for his lucrative state tenders and generous but often divisive gestures, has amplified public scrutiny on artists who align with him. Fans argue that accepting such gifts compromises the integrity of musicians who are meant to represent the struggles of ordinary citizens.

While Macheso has yet to respond to these developments, the situation highlights growing discontent among fans as they demand accountability and independence from their beloved artists. It remains to be seen how this backlash will impact Macheso’s career and the broader Zimbabwean music scene.

For now, one thing is clear: music lovers are taking a stand, and no artist is exempt from their scrutiny.- Twitter news

JUST IN……..Mnangagwa Youth Leader In Foiled Coup

Political Reporter-Zanu PF has blocked the party’s secretary for Youth Tino Machakaire’s decision to reshuffle the youth league leadership.

Last week, Machakaire unilaterally announced a new structure for the youth league, sidelining figures perceived as unsupportive of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

However, his actions sparked immediate backlash from his deputy, John Paradza, who claimed the reshuffle violated party protocol.

Paradza swiftly appealed to senior party officials, accusing Machakaire of undermining internal democracy.

On Wednesday, the matter reached the attention of the party’s top brass, who reportedly intervened to nullify the appointments.

This incident has exposed growing tensions within the youth league, with insiders suggesting it reflects deeper fissures in Zanu PF’s factional battles.

Machakaire, a known loyalist of Mnangagwa, is accused by critics of using the reshuffle to consolidate power and marginalise dissenting voices ahead of next year’s elective congress.

Neither Machakaire nor Paradza could be reached for comment.

Some senior party officials, however, have downplayed the incident, describing it as an “internal matter.”
Observers believe this drama indicates the ongoing power struggle between factions loyal to Mnangagwa and those backing his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, as the party gears up for its next leadership contest.

Chiwenga Ministers Snub Mnangagwa Cabinet

By Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has revealed that some ministers were skipping cabinet meetings.

Mnangagwa, who did not name the troublesome minister, told the last 2024 cabinet meeting held at State House that the absenteeism behaviour was “untenable” and a dereliction of duty.

However, sources close to this development said that the said ministers are aligned with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

“Let me, however, hasten to emphasise that Cabinet processes are anchored on the timely submission of vital documents and regular attendance by Ministers and officials,” Mnangagwa stated. “The worrisome tendency by Ministers and senior officials to absent themselves from meetings is untenable. Permanent Secretaries should ensure that in their absence, only directors and above should attend working party meetings.”

The president’s remarks cement the tension claims between Chiwenga and Mnangagwa.

Speculation suggests that these absences are part of a coordinated effort to challenge Mnangagwa’s leadership ahead of Zanu PF’s next elective congress.

Mnangagwa directed Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Martin Rushwaya, to tighten monitoring of ministerial attendance starting in 2025.

He warned that ministers and senior officials who fail to comply risk “dire consequences.”

The president also criticised deputy ministers, accusing them of being poorly prepared and undermining his authority by failing to participate effectively in government operations.

“In cases where Deputy Ministers are assigned, they should be adequately capacitated to enable active participation in the requisite deliberations. To this end, I direct that Deputy Ministers must now sign performance contracts in 2025,” Mnangagwa announced.

These measures follow Mnangagwa’s earlier introduction of performance contracts for senior government officials as part of his Vision 2030 agenda to foster a culture of accountability and servant leadership.

Mnangagwa and Chiwenga have shared a tumultuous political relationship since the military-assisted transition that brought Mnangagwa to power in 2017.

Chiwenga, who played a pivotal role in that transition, has grown increasingly influential, with his allies occupying key government and security positions.

Observers note that Chiwenga’s loyalists have become emboldened, with their defiance of Mnangagwa’s directives interpreted as challenging his grip on power.

Winky D Removal: Fulcrum Defends SDA Church

By Showbiz Reporter | Breaking News: Winky D’s HICC Drama Sparks Debate Over SDA Church’s Role

Harare, Zimbabwe — The fallout from Winky D’s reported exclusion from performing at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) has ignited a fierce public debate, with Advocate Thabani Mpofu and UK-based lawyer Brighton Mutebuka exchanging sharp opinions over the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church’s alleged involvement.

Winky D, a celebrated Zimbabwean musician known for his politically charged lyrics, was scheduled to perform at the HICC on December 31. Reports suggest the event was abruptly canceled due to pressure allegedly linked to the SDA Church, which owns the venue. Advocate Thabani Mpofu, a staunch defender of the church, has vehemently denied the allegations, branding them as “completely false.”

“The SDA church is a reputable Christian denomination that promotes peace and harmony, not conflict or manipulation,” Mpofu asserted in his statement. “It is committed to spreading love, kindness, and understanding and holds these values so close to its teachings and actions. The allegation is the very antithesis of the church’s thrust, which strives to maintain a good reputation and promote positive values.”

Mpofu, affectionately known as Advocate Fulcrum, dismissed claims linking the church to political interference, emphasizing that the SDA does not engage in “fighting for turf with a secular artist.”

However, UK-based lawyer Brighton Mutebuka has challenged Mpofu’s defense, arguing that the political climate in Zimbabwe makes it plausible for influential figures, including business tycoon Kudakwashe Tagwirei, to exert pressure on institutions like the SDA Church.

Mutebuka cited Tagwirei’s close ties to President Emmerson Mnangagwa as a potential factor in the HICC controversy. “No single sector in Zimbabwe is beyond ED’s overbearing reach or tentacles. The SDA is no exception,” he said.

He further elaborated: “The digital and evidential footprint is highly significant. While the SDA Church is dear to you, the bright-line approach can’t be sustained in this context. There are too many grey areas, and the allegation cannot be discounted. Secularism is as important as religion in objective terms. It covers atheists and is a fundamental right.”

Mutebuka urged Mpofu to separate his personal commitment to the SDA Church from its susceptibility to external influence, particularly given the controversy surrounding Tagwirei’s involvement with the church.

“This is a messy situation,” Mutebuka concluded. “There’s a lot about Tagwirei that’s in the public domain. It’s enough to make it plausible for him to use his power and influence to dislodge Winky D’s booking to placate ED and his regime.”

The dispute has sparked widespread public debate over the intersection of religion, politics, and artistic expression in Zimbabwe. Many have called for greater transparency regarding the circumstances surrounding Winky D’s canceled performance, while others have defended the SDA Church’s integrity.

For now, Winky D’s fans are left disappointed as the artist, known for his fearless critique of social and political issues, remains at the center of this brewing controversy. As the debate rages on, the country watches closely to see whether this high-profile clash will lead to accountability or further division.

Road Safety A Collective Responsibility

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on December 16, 2024, at approximately 1:50 PM at the 156-kilometer peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda Road.

Two people lost their lives, and four others were injured when a Toyota Hilux, carrying one passenger, collided with a Honda Fit that had five passengers on board. The impact caused the Toyota Hilux to overturn onto its side, while the Honda Fit also flipped but landed on its wheels.

The authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

Mnangagwa Boasts of Feeding Entire Nation in 2024 As Nation Burns

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa recently claimed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa successfully managed to feed the entire nation in 2024, despite numerous challenges.

This assertion, however, stands in stark contrast to the harsh realities faced by many Zimbabweans, who continue to grapple with economic hardship and daily struggles to meet basic needs.

Mutsvangwa made these remarks during a media briefing in Harare on Tuesday, where he outlined what he described as the government’s successful food relief programme.

He emphasized that President Mnangagwa had overcome “all odds” to ensure that every citizen was fed, despite the economic challenges the country is facing.

“Against all odds, President Mnangagwa has managed to feed the entire nation in 2024. This is contrary to claims of starvation and suffering of citizens.

The food relief programme has been a huge success,” Mutsvangwa said. He continued to praise the President’s efforts, referring to the assistance provided to vulnerable groups across the country.

Mutsvangwa’s comments, however, have been met with skepticism by many, as the economic situation in Zimbabwe remains dire.

Rising inflation, unemployment, and food insecurity continue to affect a large portion of the population.

Many citizens report that they are still struggling to access basic necessities, with food prices soaring and the cost of living escalating.

In his address, Mutsvangwa also took aim at critics of the government’s relief efforts, saying, “Naysayers have been put to shame. We thank the President for his resilience in the face of such challenges.”

However, opposition leaders and civil society groups have rejected Mutsvangwa’s claims, pointing out that while food aid may have reached some, large portions of the population remain unaddressed. These critics argue that the scale of the food crisis in Zimbabwe is far greater than the government admits, with the vast majority of citizens still experiencing food insecurity.

As the political rhetoric continues, many Zimbabweans are left wondering if the government’s promises can match the lived reality of a nation still struggling to recover from years of economic decline.

Parliament Is Hell Under Mnangagwa Regime, Opposition MP Reveals

By Honourable Johnson Matambo MP Kuwadzana West

The effectiveness of Parliamentarians in Zimbabwe after the new dispensation has been a subject of debate.

While the current administration promised a break from the past, the reality on the ground tells a different story.

Challenges and Limitations

One of the major challenges facing Parliamentarians is the lack of meaningful reforms.

Despite promises of change, the ruling party has maintained a tight grip on power, limiting the ability of Parliamentarians to hold the executive accountable.

The delay in passing the Constitutional Amendment Bill (Number 2) is a case in point. This bill aimed to give credence to the establishment of provincial councils, a key aspect of the devolution agenda. However, its delay has stalled government efforts to implement this agenda.²

Human Rights Abuses

Furthermore, human rights abuses have continued unabated under the new dispensation. Parliamentarians have failed to effectively address these issues, with many critics arguing that they have been co-opted by the ruling party.

The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum has documented numerous cases of human rights abuses, including police brutality, forced disappearances, and restrictions on freedom of assembly and expression.

Role of Parliamentarians

Despite these challenges, Parliamentarians can still play a crucial role in promoting accountability and good governance. They can do this by:

  • Holding the Executive Accountable: Parliamentarians must assert their oversight role and hold the executive accountable for its actions.
  • Promoting Human Rights: They must prioritize human rights and take steps to address the ongoing abuses.
  • Supporting Devolution: Parliamentarians should support the devolution agenda and ensure that it is implemented in a meaningful way.

Ultimately, the effectiveness of Parliamentarians in Zimbabwe will depend on their ability to assert their independence and promote the interests of their constituents. (Meta on the Effectiveness of the roles of Parliamentarians after the New Dispensation)
