Tribute To Pastor Thom

Tinashe Sambiri|Harare cleric, Pastor Vaidah Thom has died.

Pastor Thom was a key figure in Bishop Ancelimo Magaya’s Grace Ablaze Ministries International.

In a statement, Bishop Magaya described the death of Pastor Thom as devastating:

The passing on of one of my family and ministry pillars, Pastor Vaidah Thom, yesterday afternoon, is heart rending.

Trailing behind her is the legacy of love, risilience and passion for God’s work. Having known her for the past 31 years her passing on has created a huge gap in my family and ministry.

Vaidah leaves behind a husband: Leonard Thom, 3 children, parents, siblings and our church assembly (GAMI Glenview) that she was pastoring.

She has gone before us and we will catch up with her soon when the Lord returns or when we follow suit. May 1st Thessalonians 4 vs 13-18 comfort us all.

Healthy food sometimes seems prohibitively expensive, but it doesn’t need to be. Case in point: legumes, the family of foods that encompasses beans, peas, and lentils, according to the Mayo Clinic.

While legumes are a nutritional powerhouse, that’s not all they have going for them — they’re also inexpensive, easy to find in stores, and versatile enough to work in a wide variety of dishes.

“They provide nourishment in a form that is inexpensive, highly storable, and delicious,” says Laura Poe, RDN, who is in private practice in Viroqua, Wisconsin. “They’re an affordable way to ‘stretch’ a meal, adding nutrition and bulk for very little cost.”

Legumes in their many forms should definitely be on your radar if you’re trying to cut down on your meat intake.

Beans and lentils are staples in plant-based diets thanks to their nutritional profile. “[Legumes] can make a superb high-protein substitute for meat in almost every dish,” says Shannon Henry, RDN, a registered dietitian with EZCareClinic in San Francisco. “Their refined and cooked texture means that they can fit perfectly into balls and patties. You can also use them in soups, casseroles, burgers, chili, and tacos.”

What Are Legumes?
Legumes belong to the Fabaceae or Leguminosae family. According to Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the terms “legumes,” “pulses,” and “beans” are sometimes used interchangeably, but legumes technically refer to the entire plant (including the leaves, stems, and pods) while a pulse is the edible seed (such as beans, peas, or lentils).
Examples of legumes include:

Adzuki beans (aka red beans)
Anasazi beans
Black-eyed peas
Edamame
Fava beans
Garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas)
Lentils
Soy nuts
Peanuts are also technically a legume, according to Food Insight.

Legumes are a staple food in Mediterranean diets. People who live in Mediterranean countries consumed between 8 and 23 grams (g) of legumes per day, while Northern Europeans consumed less than 5 g a day, according to one study.

Common Questions & Answers
What are some examples of legumes?
The legume family includes beans, peas, lentils, soybeans (or soy nuts), and peanuts.

What is the difference between beans and legumes?
Are legumes good or bad for you?
Which nuts are legumes?
Are legumes anti-inflammatory?
What Are the Health Benefits of Legumes?
Legumes in their various forms have been shown to have the following benefits.

Provide Key Nutrients
Legumes are surprisingly nutritious, Henry says. They contain protein, fiber, B vitamins, iron, folate, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, and zinc, according to MedlinePlus.right up arrow They’re also low in fat and calories. According to past estimates, a half-cup serving of legumes contains about 115 calories, 1 g fat, 20 g carbohydrates, 8 g protein, and 7 to 9 g fiber.

“Legumes are among the highest-fiber sources of carbohydrates, giving them a lower glycemic index than other carb sources and helping with blood sugar control,” Poe says.
Deliver Antioxidants
“Beans and [other] legumes [contain] antioxidants that help prevent cell damage and [premature] risks,” Henry says. According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, antioxidants can prevent or delay cellular damage, and people who eat an antioxidant-rich diet have a lower risk of several diseases — including cardiovascular disease, stroke, and cancer.

Promote a Healthy Heart
It’s a good idea to limit your intake of red meat (like beef, lamb, and pork) because of the saturated fat content, according to the American Heart Association (AHA).right up arrow Lentils and beans are great substitutes — not only to help you reduce your meat intake, but to tap into some heart-healthy benefits. According to past research, eating legumes can lower blood pressure and inflammation, which are two risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

May Lower the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

Legumes may also aid in preventing and managing serious health conditions, including type 2 diabetes and related conditions such as hypertension and high cholesterol, according to past research.

A study published in March 2017 in Clinical Nutrition found that regular consumption of legumes — especially lentils — as part of a Mediterranean diet led to a 35 percent lower risk of diabetes among older adults with a high cardiovascular risk. Those researchers found that substituting legumes for half a serving a day of eggs, bread, rice, and baked potato also helped lower type 2 diabetes risk.

Offer a Plant-Based Protein
Legumes are a great meat-free protein source and can take the place of meat in many recipes, Henry says. Following a predominantly plant-based diet — such as a vegetarian diet, a vegan diet, or a flexitarian diet — over a meat-heavy one may help lower your risk of heart disease, stroke, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and many cancers, according to the AHA. Plant-based diets were also associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in a study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association in August 2019.

Poachers Burn Parks Official Alive

By A Correspondent- A gang of unknown suspected poachers allegedly cornered a 28-year-old anti-poaching investigator on Sunday afternoon and burnt him in his car near Matshiloni area, along the road leading Masvingo.

The man, who is employed by the International Anti-Poaching Foundation (IAPF), was reportedly travelling from Beitbridge to Harare in a Toyota Runx when he was attacked by the gang which was travelling in two vehicles.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi was not readily available for comment today, but Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife (Zimparks) spokesperson Mr Tinashe Farawo confirmed the incident.

“This is an unfortunate incident, where suspected poachers attacked an International Anti-Poaching Foundation investigator in Beitbridge.

He said the authority was concerned that the law enforcement agents involved in anti-poaching activities are always at risk of encountering such incidences.

Mr Farawo said in most cases they were having deadly contacts with armed poachers.

He appealed for anyone with information to contact the Zimparks and the police so that they may bring the suspects to justice

Government Fails To Shelter 2017 Cyclone Idai victims

By A Correspondent- The government has failed to provide shelter to more than 300 Chimanimani families after they were in 2017 displaced by Cyclone Idai.

The victims are still living in temporary camps despite promises by the government to build houses for them.

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was in Chimanimani, yesterday where as usual he promised to provide housing to the desperate villagers.

“I am here wearing two hats, one I am representing my leader and leader of our country President Mnangagwa who would want to know the progress we have made. I am here also as Minister of Health (and Child Care). I want to acquaint myself with the state of health care provision, said Chiwenga.
But at the core of it all, is to fix the terrible experience that befell us when we were struck by Cyclone Idai. I am advised that the road that connects Kopa and Jopa is in a very bad state. We want to see to it that this road is fixed before the onset of rains,” Chiwenga made the usual Zanu PF empty promises.

Mwonzora MP Faces Jail For Bashing Mliswa In Parliament

By A Correspondent- MDC-T legislator, Ms Memory Mbondiya who slapped Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa and forced the Public Accounts Committee meeting to disbanded is facing jail for contempt of Parliament.

The committee was supposed to receive evidence from Intratek Holdings and Finmark concerning their contracts with Zesa Holdings on the Gwanda Solar Project and the supply of pre-paid electricity meters, respectively.

The meeting had earlier been adjourned when Intratek managing director, Mr Wicknell Chivayo was about to give evidence after Mr Mliswa said the matter could not proceed as it was pending before the courts.

Following the objections by Mr Mliswa, Mr Chivayo and journalists were asked to leave the room as the committee deliberated on the matter.

Ms Mbondiya, an MDC-T proportional representative member, then stormed out of the meeting claiming Mr Mliswa had smashed the screen of her phone. She then returned moments later and slapped Mr Mliswa shouting that she was not his wife.

Other legislators immediately intervened and restrained the pair while Parliament staffers closed the doors to prevent journalists from taking pictures of the melee.

After tempers had cooled down, the meeting was then deferred to a later date.

Ms Mbondiya declined to comment on the matter while Mr Mliswa downplayed the incident saying the misunderstanding arose after she tried to record him while he was speaking during the meeting.

“I have already made peace with her. You know when you come to Parliament you have a lot of issues. You probably wake up on the wrong side of the bed and you find someone to vent out your frustrations and anger on and this could be it.

“Honourable Mbondiya is a sister of mine, I have already forgiven her,” he said.

Committee chairperson, Mr Brian Dube also downplayed the incident saying they would reconvene at a later date.
“This (the incident) means some people are not smart but we will reschedule to a later date,” Mr Dube said.

In 2004, then Chimanimani legislator, the late Roy Bennett (MDC-T) was jailed 15 months after he was convicted by a parliamentary committee for assaulting then Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Patrick Chinamasa during a debate in the National Assembly

EXCLUSIVE: Walter Magaya Has Killed A Lot Of People, Own Bodyguard Says

Walter Magaya

The man, only identified as James Dzamu in a recorded telephone conversation with Magaya’s wife, Tendai, said he is now speaking out as he feels used.

The audio, as ZimEye reveals, was verified with two of Magaya’s close colleagues as authentically recorded during a conversation with Magaya’s wife, Tendai.

In the audio, Jimmy states as follows (full transcript)-

Jimmy – Mama, can you hear me?

Tendai Magaya: it (volume) is now clear.

Jimmy: do you see, you could say that things are hard, but other people are receiving things right now. There is a girl called Tadiwa, a college student- he conducted a birthday party for her. Right now, he flew her to Turkey, I know everything, I have got all the details, all of them. But I’m the person who used to pull him out of trouble, the same person who used to rescue him is the one that he is now mishandling.

He is the same person who is now now instructing, that I should come with my lawyer, to conclude our matter in writing. But the things that he himself declared before my lawyer he is refusing to pay up. Why is he so rough?

So me the reason why I called you what I am now doing now is, if the sun sets before his lawyer Charambudza has come to my lawyer to finalise this case, or to sign down in agreement, to give me what they owe me, even if they pay me gradually, the same way they announced earlier, everything is now going public. I’m going to hold a press conference.

I have got nothing to lose, I died a long time ago, I know they are looking for me so that they kill me. I have heard everything. Those that they killed are those that they killed, as for me they can’t manage me.

And leaders in the country now know me that I came from Magaya, and it was because of A, B, C and D. It wasn’t my wish to desert Magaya, but they wanted to get me arrested when they are the ones who are involved; they wanted me imprisoned for a crime I did not commit.

There is no one I ever assaulted. That young brother of his, the one that they are saying is his young brother; there is no one why I ever assaulted(sic).

Right now they are saying Chief (suc) is hungry because of this and that; they are forgetting that for this church to be where it is right now, I had to stand for them, for them not to be arrested but right now they are behaving like Korokozas.

Let’s see what happens.

Tendai Magaya: Oh no, I have taken down your message Mkoma Jimmy.

Jimmy: As for me mama if you hate me I don’t have a problem with you. I don’t have a problem with you at all, I told them the have been saying to me Jimmy, how do you feel when you see Magaya junior suffering?

But (Walter Magaya) Junior right now is surviving better than my kids. He is surviving better than my kids. I don’t want to go 50/50, like that for Junior to go to an international school that is what I would like my own kids to enjoy, but my child must at least have a normal life, isn’t it?

Right now I’m failing to raise money for rent, and yet 9 years working for this man, pulling him out of trouble and today he is forgetting about that. As he goes out with several women. I have got a list of several the likes of Sarah Maruta, and others who were made to a abort by Mar Chivero. I know everything about whatever happened but right now, I don’t know.

The other girl who does IT, Nyari who was the first to have sex inside your house while you were in Nigeria, I know everything, I never disclosed it. I’m very close to you but I never disclosed it. But now is the time for it to be known for the world to know about what has been happening.

Tendai Magaya: Alright mukoma Jimmy let me …

Jimmy: if he doesn’t call my lawyer today, you’re going to hear the whole story.

Tendai Magaya: It’s okay.

Jimmy: Alright, thank you very much mama.

Mnangagwa Top Ally Clashes With Gweru City Council, Turns City CBD Into Cattle Rearing Area

By A Correspondent- Gweru businessman Douglas Makwande, who claims to be very close to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has clashed with the Gweru City Council after converting the premises of Zimbabwe Glass Holdings (Zimglass) into a cattle pen for his 100 herds.

The businessman claims he acquired the premises for US$22 million, although his workers strongly challenge this.

Urban farming remains an offence in the Gweru and indeed in many cities and towns in the country.

According to media reports, the giant 10-hectare premises located along Bristol Road in Gweru are now used as grazing and a cattle pen for Kwande’s cattle.

However, the businessman’s decision to turn the premises of a lucrative glass-making venture into a pen could pass for mockery on the government’s thrust to reinject life into a comatose industrial sector that has taken a good battering from a sagging economy and the devastating effects of Covid-19 in the recent past.

Kwande bought the firm from the state-run Industrial Development Corporation.

Gokwe Man Commits Suicide In Police Cells

By A Correspondent- A Gokwe man has committed suicide in a police cell in Lupane after being arrested on allegations of murdering his wife.

Maqawe Maseko (31) of Majanga village in Gokwe had been on the run after allegedly killing his wife last month.

Maseko was arrested in Lupane after one of his relatives tipped the police about his presence in the area.

Police national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and said investigations are in progress.

He said Maseko was wanted for murder.

Maseko was alone as he was the only suspect in the cell, and police suspect that he may have hanged himself between 3 PM and 9 PM as the incident was discovered when police on duty changed shifts.

BREAKING: Supreme Court Cancels Wicknell Chivayo’s Contract

By A Correspondent | The Supreme Court has rule in favour of the Zimbabwe Power Company to allow it to rescind controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo’s contract for the Gwanda Solar Power plant.

A bench comprising of Supreme Court judges Francis Bere, Elizabeth Gwaunza and Chinembiri Bhunu ruled that High Court Justice Tawanda Chitapi erred in not finding that there were serious intractable material disputes of fact which should have Intratrek’s application dismissed.

The bench ruled saying: “Undoubtedly there were serious intractable material disputes of fact incapable of resolution without viva voce evidence. It is therefore plain that the case at hand was riddled with serious material disputes…

“There were allegations and counter factual allegations as to who is to blame for the alleged breach of contract. There is also a dispute as to whether or not the contract has since expired due to the effluxion of time.

“Without any further ado, it is clear that this was a case incapable of resolution without going to trial to determine the merits on the basis of viva voce evidence. Intratrek’s endeavour to avoid trial in the face of glaring material disputes of facts gives the unmistaken impression that it has something to hide that could be unearthed in the course of trial proceedings.”

Chivayo, a Chikurubi Maximum convict, won a series of power tenders amounting to a combined USD780,000,000  in which he was paid a lumpsum off USD5 million during the time ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa presided over the tender process in 2015.

ZACC Defends Corrupt Colleague

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has defended one of its officials, Eric Chacha, accused of criminal abuse of office following reports that the commission had ignored to investigate him despite the case having been highlighted to the anti-graft body.

Chacha was early this year accused of obstructing the course of justice and criminally abusing his office, among other allegations.

Reports say letters were to ZACC and other relevant authorities concerning these allegations, and some people have taken to social media asking what action was against Chacha.

Among those who reportedly filed letters of complaint to ZACC against Chacha are senior police officer Commissioner Erasmus Makodza, Chief Superintendent Joseph Josphat Matipforo, and suspended Registrar-General Clement Masango.

ZACC spokesperson Commissioner John Makamure yesterday denied that the commission had received any complaints against Chacha.

“If it’s (Commissioner) Makodza, he knows the procedures. He can either make a report to the police if it’s criminal or file a complaint with ZACC. We have not received any complaint from him (Comm Makodza) or any other (person).

“And those posting on social media, we have not received any complaints from them. So they should file a report because we can’t be investigating every report on social media,” he said.

Kazungula Bridge: Mnangagwa Humiliates Self

By Ben Manyenyeni

This Kazungula Bridge was built to avoid and by-pass a very difficult country called Zimbabwe which still has the pride to send its whole President to the official opening of the “snub-Zimbabwe” project!

And South Africa – a clear beneficiary of the new bridge only sends its Bots Ambassador to the official opening?

Maybe we just love official openings?

Kaizer Chiefs Veteran Blasts Billiat

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Linda Buthelezi has blasted Khama Billiat, saying the Zimbabwean winger is doing nothing at Kaizer Chiefs hence the club should release him.

Billiat moved from Mamelodi Sundowns to Naturena in a shocking move in 2018 but has not replicated the form which propelled him to stardom at Masandawana in an injury-injury-punctuated tenure at the Soweto giants.

Buthelezi feels Chiefs can do without the pint-sized Mufakose-bred winger.

“Hey, Billiat must go my brother, he is doing nothing for us,” Buthelezi told South African publication Kick Off Magazine.

“I’m a Chiefs person mina, he must go. I don’t think Chiefs signed him because they wanted to invest in him in a sense of selling him overseas. If that was the case we would have seen it by now.

“We can see from far that we invested in him so that he would score goals for us. That didn’t happen. So he must just go… the option they have on him means nothing my brother. An option is not an agreement, it’s a recommendation. It means nothing.”

“I don’t think he will be signed for another season because he gave us nothing ever since he arrived. It’s not like he will be missed. What we need are good defenders and also someone who will score goals for us.

“It’s not like we don’t have such players in this country. If you can go to Baroka, they play good football, they have talented boys there, even Black Leopards have good players there. You can sign a few of them here and they will be very serious once they get here,” he added.

Ironically though, no Kaizer Chiefs player has provided more assists than Billiat this season and Gavin Hunt’s men still struggle in his absence, putting into question the objectivity in Buthelezi’s assessment of the situation.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Billiat Must Go, Charges Kaizer Chiefs Veteran

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Linda ‘ Mercedes Benz’ Buthelezi has come out hard on Khama Billiat suggesting that the club should not renew his contract and instead recruit ‘local’ players arguing that South Africa has a number of ‘talented players’ that can replace the Zimbabwean forward.

Billiat who is one of the highest earning players in the South African league, has failed to replicate his form at Ajax Cape Town and at Mamelodi Sundowns since moving to Chiefs in 2018. He has only managed two goals in 11 starts.

“Hey, Billiat must go my brother, he is doing nothing for us. “I’m a Chiefs person mina, he must go. I don’t think Chiefs signed him because they wanted to invest in him in a sense of selling him overseas. If that was the case we would have seen it by now,”

“It’s not like we don’t have such players in this country. If you can go to Baroka, they play good football, they have talented boys there, even Black Leopards have good players there. You can sign a few of them here and they will be very serious once they get here.”

“So he must leave so that we can promote a few youngsters. The coach must be allowed to sign three or four players of his choice, and add another three from development.”

Giving Serious Thought To The Possibility Of Polyandry

By Thabiso Nxumalo- With our neighbouring country South Africa, working on the green paper on marriages Act, it is no doubt that ordinary Zimbabweans are also pondering on the matter, be it they reach to such a position, although it seems so far away.

Nauseating and insulting as it is to even consider this concept given our cultural confines. It is evident that the African culture is gradually inclining to the idea.

Yes, Culture is dynamic, changing over time. The rhetoric is, Is African culture ready for such? It is not a matter of male dominance, chauvinism or even feminism but that of sanity in the household that takes this route.

One good example: If one has been married for years and has agreed with their wife to be a stay-at-home mom and not work. Then the new husband comes into the picture and wants her to work and oppose all the foundations and ideologies that He and the wife would have built upon. Wouldn’t that cause tension? The wife faced with whose Head of the House’s instruction to follow therefore duelling them, resulting in an unhappy marriage that might lead to depression, murders etc.

In addition, paternity of the off-springs therefore become questionable, as to who really fathered the child/ren. Which affects the cultural virtue of one knowing their roots, as  Africans believe that everyone born into the family must be introduced to their ancestors.

Furthermore, after lobola, the bride to be is introduced to the family/ancestors, in Ndebele by a process called UKUCOLA. So, in a polyandry setup does it mean that the woman will be introduced to over 2 ‘sets’ of ancestors? Will she still be sane? Are we not mocking our ancestors?

Power dynamics between the 2 husbands or more will always defeat the purpose of a marriage institution and peace in the home as they struggle for dominance over the household.

Moreover, if she cheats and one party or more decides to file for divorce, how are the assets and wealth shared amongst parties? Do we share the ones we acquired together as a ‘group’ or just the ones we both acquired? Will all the husband liable to Lobola?

Tottenham, Arsenal Eye Former Chelsea Coach

Former Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri has been linked with a surprise return to the English Premier League after he reportedly became a target of two top clubs.

Reports in Italy suggest that North London sides – Arsenal and Tottenham – have approached the gaffer as they seek to appoint a new coach to take over the reins ahead of next season.

According to Football Italia website, Spurs begun negotiations with the former Juventus boss, just after the announcement of Mourinho’s sacking in April.

The Gunners, on the other end, have also started the talks with Sarri as they prepare for life after Mikel Arteta, who is facing an uncertain future at the Emirates.

Italian journalist Carlo Laudisa has echoed similar sentiments and further stated that the 62-year-old is eager to get back in the dugout next season.

Sarri has been out of work since being given the boot by Juventus last August

During an appearance on Radio Punto Nuovo, as cited by The Sun, Laudisa said: “Sarri could go to England.

“The Tottenham solution being the most plausible, but the Arsenal bench could also become free, as [Mikel] Arteta has missed all the Gunners’ season goals.”

Sarri enjoyed success during his one-season stint at Chelsea, guiding the Blues to Europa League glory with a 4-1 victory over Arsenal in Baku in 2018.

He returned to Italy and joined Juventus where he was sacked last year in August despite guiding the Old Lady to their 36th Serie A title.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Bafana Bafana Legend Tears Into Billiat

“Hands-Off The Public Accounts Committee”

Press Statement

The MDC-T is outraged by the attack of its parliamentarians in the Public Accounts
Committee, namely the chairperson of that committee and MDC-T Secretary for Legal Affairs, Honourable Brian Dube, and a fellow committee member from our party, Honourable Memory Mbodiah in what was supposed to be a hearing on the ZESA report.

The party wishes the public to take note of this development in the manner following.
First, it is the party’s public record through our two honourable members of parliament that the work of this committee came to an abrupt end after disturbances that were singularly
orchestrated by Hon. Themba Mliswa, an independent Member of Parliament. Hon. Mliswa is said to have accosted Hon. Dube in his Chair, seeking to stop him from proceeding with the meeting.

Meanwhile Hon. Mbondiah recorded the whole episode in her iPad device before hiding same under her breasts. Hon. said to have indecently assaulted Hon Mbondiah in the process of wrestling her iPad from her, which he proceeded to smash. It is after this that a physical confrontation ensued between the two. Counter allegations by Hon Mliswa are
therefore a capricious and malevolent fabrication calculated at making women organisations to view Hon. Mbondiah as a typical ‘man who bites a dog’!

Second, this PAC had called in Mr Wicknell Chivayo of Intratrek to shed light on the Gwanda
Solar Project where he was awarded US$5.6 million in advance payment and subsequently
failed to deliver on the project. Specifically the PAC meant to forward the following questions to Mr Chivayo:

Did Intratrek get the contract through any tender? If there was a tender, Mr Chivayo to provide proof of same.

What is the current status of the project?

What were the sources documents used by Intratrek for all payments they received?

Why did Intratrek not issue any bank guarantee as required in terms of the contract?

What is Intratrek’s plan going forward since payment was made and no work was done? Do
they intend to refund the nation?

Are the funds still there since no work was done?

The Intratrek Gwanda Project is not pending in the courts as to be exempt from the PAC, see Judgement SC 39/21.

The party therefore reads Hon Mliswa’s actions to have stopped the newly appointed committee chairperson from unravelling sedimentary and rampant corruption at ZESA Holdings around issues to do with controversial awarding of contracts on tenders without due diligence, and failure to follow procurement regulations among other alleged infractions of the law at this our national power utility company.

Third, the party is of the view that whatever Hon. Mondiah’s emotive and retaliatory attacks
on Hon. Mliswa were, they are minor compared to his indecently assaulting a woman in the
parliament precinct, and his violation of parliamentary decorum of same given the manner he stopped proceedings of this PAC meeting.

Fourth, it is also worth noting and very telling that the newly appointed PAC Chairperson from the MDC-T found not less than seventeen (17) committee meetings which had been sat, with no adopted minutes of same as records of work done. It therefore stands to reason that whilst the previous chairperson, Hon Tendai Biti, was given to being high-sounding on being a champion of fighting corruption through this committee, he left nothing to suggest any appetite to do same, and the entry of Hon. Dube can only be read as having broken a gentleman’s agreement that would have existed in maintaining corruption under wrap through this committee.

And fifth, the MDC-T wishes to assure the public that its newly appointed clean sweep broom is unperturbed by the resistance being shown by the corrupt cartels and their proxies, and will redouble efforts in brooking no interference in ridding our society of this evil that has brought endemic stagnation in our national economic growth.

Mnangagwa Imposes Self On Kazungula Bridge

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance has described the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s attempt to claim credit for the Kazungula Bridge project as laughable.

On Monday, Mr Mnangagwa literally imposed himself on the amazing project in a bid to gain political marks.

In his statement below, hard-hitting MDC Alliance Youth Assembly national spokesperson Stephen Sarkozy Chuma exposes Mr Mnangagwa’s desperate bid to seize the magnificent project:

Kazungula Commissioning: When An Invited Guest Poses As The Bridegroom

10-05-2021

Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ‘New Dispensation’ never ceases to amaze!

Today(Monday) is the official commissioning of Kazungula Bridge and a One Stop Border Post connecting Botswana and Zambia and in the mix is an invitee, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Dramatic as it may appear but the reality is that Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime now claims to be part and parcel of this great project that was started 10 years ago by governments of Zambia and Botswana.

Of course Kazungula Bridge is a result of proper planning and serious execution from responsible governments that genuinely pursue issues of development.

Contrary to what we have seen inside Mnangagwa’s so-called ‘New Dispensation’ that allows cartels to smuggle millions worth of gold outside the country, the Government of Botswana established a Sovereign Wealth Fund to ensure that their minerals particularly diamond benefits its citizens through infrastructure like Kazungula Bridge.

From Southern Africa’s laughing stock in the 1980s and 90s, Zambia is prioritizing development as we have seen with various tangible projects in that country.

The master of commissioning footbridges and strips like one we saw few weeks back in Karanda must know that big projects like Kazungula are not born out of wishful thinking but proper planning and execution involving all stakeholders.

While Mnangagwa and cabal are busy trying to find new tricks to destroy the opposition, other regional leaders are making positive strides as we have witnessed in Kazungula.

You cannot fake or short circuit issues of development.

Mnangagwa must sober up, reflect and learn from other regional leaders instead of claiming cheap victories!

“It’s Zanu Pf Sourcing Election Money. Simple”

Dear Editor

Concerning the guy caught with gold nuggets worth thousands of dollars in South Africa, we know that these are the works of Zanu Pf cartels sourcing money to campaign for 2023 elections.

This is not new. For every election, they source their own monies to campaign and keep their seats.

Very soon you will hear that the guy has been released on bail and that will be the end of the story.

This case will die a natural death as money exchanges hands.

We are doomed as a nation.

Health Tips: Benefits Of Legumes

What Are Legumes?

Types, Health Benefits, Nutrition Facts, Cooking Methods, and More

Mnangagwa Celebrates “Snub Zimbabwe Project”

Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s penchant for official openings is under scrutiny…

On Monday Mr Mnangagwa attempted to use the Kazungula Bridge Commissioning to steal political limelight.

According to former Harare City Mayor, Councillor Ben Manyenyeni, Mr Mnangagwa scored an own goal as he celebrated the “Snub Zimbabwe Project.”

Manyenyeni argues the commissioning of the magnificent bridge means regional countries will by-pass Zimbabwe.

Below is Manyenyeni’s argument:

This Kazungula Bridge was built to avoid and by-pass a very difficult country called Zimbabwe which still has the pride to send its whole President to the official opening of the “snub-Zimbabwe” project!

And South Africa – a clear beneficiary of the new bridge only sends its Bots Ambassador to the official opening?

Mother Poisons Six Sons, Hubby Following Domestic Row

By A Correspondent- Police in Coligny are investigating four counts of murder and an inquest docket after a 38 year old mother allegedly poisoned herself and four of her six sons. Two sons and her husband survived.

The 38 year old and the boys, aged between two months and 15 years, were found dead in a house in Vaalbank, just outside Coligny, on Sunday morning. Police spokesperson Col Adéle Myburgh said they were declared dead by paramedics.

“According to information available at this stage, reports suggest that the mother and father had an argument the previous night [Saturday, May 8]. However, the whole family, the parents and six boys, went to bed,” said Myburgh.

It is alleged that the mother woke up during the night and allegedly drank poison and spread it throughout the house. As a result, the mother and four sons died while the 35-year-old father and two sons, aged eight and 17, were admitted to hospital for medical treatment.

Myburgh said investigations continue.

The North West acting SAPS commissioner Maj-Gen Dintletse Molefe expressed shock over the incident and conveyed condolences to the family.

Molefe requested members of the community to seek professional intervention to resolve their differences.

Zvishavane Uncle Who Raped Niece (9) Infecting Her With HIV Jailed 33yrs

By A Correspondent- A Zvishavane man who abused his sister’s trust and raped his 9-year-old niece has been sentenced to 33 years in prison.

The 24 year old uncle from hell also infected his grade-three niece with HIV.

The uncle who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of his victim was staying at the same house with his sister and her children. He took advantage of his sister’s absence to rape his niece on multiple occasions between March and April.

The court heard that the pervert uncle would sneak into the room where his nieces were sleeping and would rape the 9-year-old. The 9-year-old shared the room with her younger sisters aged four and two.

The abuse came to light when the victim refused to sleep in the room. When her older sister questioned about the reluctance, the 9-year-old revealed that the uncle was raping her.

The sister reported the matter to the police and the paedophile uncle was arrested. The sister also took her sibling for an HIV Test and unfortunately, it came out positive.

The uncle appeared before Regional Magistrate Mr Christopher Maturure facing two counts: one count of raping his niece and one count of deliberately infecting her with HIV.

He pleaded not guilty and made a spirited attempt to deny the charges. However, his subterfuge did not work, and the magistrate found him guilty after a full trial.

The magistrate had no kind words for the uncle who abused his position of trust to prey on his sister’s child. He said that his sentence should serve as a deterrence to other like-minded would-be offenders and sentenced him to 33 years in prison.

The Chronicle reports that in passing sentence, Mr Maturure said:

“Her life has totally changed because of your actions. For rape you are sentenced to 18 years and deliberately infecting the complainant, 15 years,”

Con Woman Dupes More Than 500 People In Botched Pants Deal

By A Correspondent- More than 500 people from  Mutare were left clutching straws after a con-woman reportedly duped them of US$15 000 in a botched panties deal.

The accused, Melody Madyembwa allegedly made away with more than US$15 000 she collected from 580 people who ordered panties she said were being shipped from abroad, but never came.

According to a local tabloid, the victims hooked up with Madyembwa through her Facebook page where she advertised new packs of panties at US$1.50 per packet and each client was expected to order a minimum of ten packs.

Ever since they made their orders, they still haven’t received their new packs of panties as Madyembwa had promised and efforts to get a refund have proven futile.

Duped people had no kind words for Madyembwa  as they described her as a con-woman with more than five groups under her administration on social media.

One of the victims said Madyembwa was a criminal who was playing hide and seek with them. She said they will definitely wait for her return at her workplace in Mutare or else she will resign.

When contacted for a comment Madyembwa refuted claims that she was a con-woman arguing that she was duped by her agents.

She said, the deal flopped when her agents, only identified as Liberty and one Never, failed to deliver the orders forcing her to lodge a police report against the two.

The case is now under investigation at Harare Central Police Station under IR 040389.

Madyembwa affirmed that she collected money amounting to US$15 000 from several people who wanted panties and gave some of it to the agent Liberty Muzemba who was based at Karigamombe Centre in Harare.

She revealed that the reason why she hasn’t delivered her clients ordered goods is because Liberty failed to meet his promises since February and kept moving dates of the delivery up until now. She said she is now  under pressure from clients who placed their orders as they are now demanding their money back.

Madyembwa claims that her disgruntled clients have threatened to demonstrate against her at her workplace, as a result this has forced her to take some days off and visit Liberty in Harare.

She said efforts to get in touch with Liberty have all been in vain as he is no longer answering her calls and she also failed to locate him at his office.

Madyembwa added that pressure from the clients has forced her to refund some of them, starting with the first person who paid, but her wallet is already dry.

She said she now regrets receiving their money. She however, promised to make sure Liberty is brought to book and refunds them all.

Woes Mount For Mwonzora As Party Stalwarts Exchange Blows

By A Correspondent- Several MDC-T supporters were reportedly injured following intra-party clashes at a senior leader’s house in Marlborough, Harare, on Sunday.

The Douglas Mwonzora opposition outfit yesterday accused the rival MDC Alliance of fanning the violence.

Contacted for comment, top MDC-T provincial official Charity Bango, who hosted the meeting, said: “I have nothing to say on that. You can talk to the party spokesperson on the matter.”

Sources, who witnessed the clashes, alleged that the violence erupted after two rival camps in the MDC-T party clashed over an undisclosed matter.

The party took to social media to blame the MDC Alliance over the clashes.

“MDC-T Harare West district members gathered for a gap-filling meeting yesterday were attacked by MDC Alliance violent thugs. The violent thugs were gathered at Civic Centre in Marlborough. They attacked women and children and stabbed five MDC-T members,” MDC-T Harare province said.

But MDC Alliance provincial youth secretary Denford Ngadziore said he had nothing to do with the incident.

“During the said period and times of the allegations, I had made a special visit to some State institution with all the evidence in the public domain,” he said.

Police could not confirm the alleged clashes.

Ace Magashule’s Announcement Of Cyril Ramaphosa’s Suspension Backfires

By A Correspondent- Suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule’s political missteps are coming back to haunt him Just a week after his ANC membership was temporarily suspended, the party’s national executive committee the party’s highest decision-making body between conferences wants Magashule to apologise publicly for the letter he wrote to party president Cyril Ramaphosa “suspending” him without the authority to do so.

Ramaphosa revealed yesterday that the NEC, which has been meeting for the past three days, discussed Magashule’s “suspension” of the president.

“The NEC also discussed the so-called letter of suspension written by the secretary-general to the president for which the secretary-general had no authority or mandate from any structure of the movement,” Ramaphosa said while delivering his closing remarks.

“The NEC agreed that such conduct was completely unacceptable and a flagrant violation of the rules, the norms, and the values of the ANC,” he said.

Ramaphosa said the NEC further instructed its top officials to advise Magashule to apologise publicly to ANC structures and members within a set time frame.

“If he fails to do so, the ANC will institute disciplinary procedures in accordance with the ANC constitution,” said Ramaphosa.

This comes two days after Magashule, the ANC’s top administrator, was booted out of the same meeting due to his suspended membership.

Ramaphosa also confirmed that ANC deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte would carry out the secretary-general functions in Magashule’s absence.

“The NEC reaffirms its full confidence in our deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte and supports her in carrying out her duties as per the ANC constitution,” he said.

NEC members also condemned “unwarranted attacks” on Duarte and ANC staff members at Luthuli House, whom Ramaphosa said had been subjected to threats, insults and unfounded allegations and misinformation for carrying out decisions of the NEC, NWC and officials. He also revealed that there had been death threats made against Andries Nel, the former deputy minister of justice, who is now the ANC NEC co-ordinator. He said these would be reported to relevant authorities.

Quartet Remanded In Custody Over Criminal Abuse Of Office

By A Correspondent- Four top officials in the Local Government ministry were yesterday remanded in custody to today for bail hearing after they fraudulently dispossessed a housing co-operative of land and allocated it to people who were not on the Harare housing waiting list.

Andrew Rhory Shawatu, Nyarai Priscilla Mudzinge, Leah Chigoma and Daisy Mtyambizi appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje to answer to criminal abuse of office charges.

Shawatu was the principal administration officer for State lands, Mudzinge (director for local authorities), Chimoga (acting director for legal affairs) while Mtyambizi was the deputy director for spatial planning.

They allegedly attempted to convert land which was set aside as residential stands for Sally Mugabe Heights Housing Co-operative.

It is alleged that the co-operative was offered 760 hectares of land for residential stands at Acom Farm through an offer letter dated January 7, 2005, by the Local Government ministry.

On July 15 2005, the Department of Physical Planning, as stipulated in the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act, approved a layout plan for a housing scheme called Acom Estate.

According to law, the ministry had to retain 10% to be allocated by the Local Government ministry for the construction of schools, health services, recreation facilities, and other compulsory public amenities.

Investigations, however, revealed that sometime between 2010 and April 2011, the quartet allegedly connived and wrote a memorandum to the secretary in the Local Government ministry recommending the allocation of Acom residential stands, disregarding the dictates of State Land Management Manual Part 2.

It is further alleged that the secretary then acted upon the misrepresentation and approved stands for 10 people who were not on the waiting list.-newsday

Trio Smash Cop’s Mobile Phone, Beat Him Up For Demanding A Bribe From Mourners

By A Correspondent- A Kombi driver and a conductor as well as a woman from Bulawayo who allegedly assaulted a police officer on duty and smashed his mobile phone have appeared in court.

Thembani Moyo (41), Xola Sibanda (24) both of Makokoba suburb and Lungisani Mguni (41) of Mpopoma suburb allegedly attacked Constable Speaky Goteka last month.

The court heard that Moyo, the driver, and Mguni his conductor were loading passengers along 3rd Street in Makokoba suburb on April 12 at around 1PM in violation of Covid-19 containment measures.

Const Goteka and his colleagues, Samson Munsaka and Restern Mukumbiri both stationed at Mzilikazi Police Station, attempted to arrest the duo for illegally operating a Toyota Hiace registration number AEU 4744 which is not registered under the Zimbabwe United Passengers Company (ZUPCO) franchise as required by law.

The police officers ordered passengers to disembark from the vehicle as they wanted to impound it.

This irked Moyo and Mguni and they disembarked leaving no one inside. A mob gathered at the scene and started throwing stones at the police officers. Sensing danger, two of the police officers jumped into the kombi and one of them drove it to Mzilikazi Police Station.

Const Goteka fled on foot but Moyo and Mguni who were joined by Sibanda pursued and caught up with him and started assaulting him. Sibanda also severely bashed him. Moyo allegedly took the cop’s Itel P36 Lite phone worth more than $10 000 and smashed it on the road.

A Good Samaritan, Raymond Gutai of Makokoba suburb saved Const Goteka from further attack and hid him in his house. The complainant sustained a swollen forehead and some bruises on both hands and he was treated at Mpilo Central Hospital. The three suspects were later arrested.

Yesterday the trio denied venturing into the city offering transport services without exemption, assault and malicious damage to property charges before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Shepherd Mnjanja. The commuter omnibus driver said the complainant knew him as an illegal kombi operator but on that particular day he was not pirating.

He said he was approached by police officers as he was parking his vehicle at a nearby house where he was attending a funeral service in Makokoba suburb and they demanded a bribe. Moyo said when the gathered mourners heard that police officers were demanding a bribe as they were mourning their loved one, they ran amok and started assaulting the complainant.

Mr Mnjanja remanded them out of custody to May 24. Prosecuting, Mr Nhlalwenhle Dube prosecuted.

LIVE: Magaya’s Wife With Hubby’s Male Bodyguard Explosive Phonecall.

Walter Magaya

By A Correspondent | A personal bodyguard of the controversial preacher Walter Magaya has exploded after struggling for finances.

https://youtu.be/kb4KpRfy7T8

The man, only identified as James Dzamu in a recorded telephone conversation with Magaya’s wife, Tendai, said he is now speaking out as he feels used.

The audio, as ZimEye reveals, was verified with two Magaya’s close colleagues as authentically recorded during the conversation with Magaya’s wife, Tendai.

Jimmy: Alright, thank you very much mama

Teachers Forced To Attend Zanu Pf Rally In Mutoko

By A Correspondent- The Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) yesterday claimed that its members were at the weekend forced to attend a Zanu-PF rally at Kagande in Mutoko and were ordered to register as voters for the party in 2023.

Artuz tweeted that rural teachers affiliated to the union were now refusing to go back to their workstations for fear of victimisation.

“Over the weekend, members of Zanu-PF terrorised some teachers in Mutoko district, forcing them to register as part of the five million voters for Zanu-PF. In some cases, Zanu-PF had all the details of the teachers, they just visited to confirm. In Kagande, teachers were forced to attend a rally,” Artuz posted on its Twitter handle.

“A total of 31 teachers reported through our hotline. Our rapid response team is in Mutoko assessing the safety of some teachers who refused to attend the Kagande meeting and those who refused to register as Zanu-PF voters for 2023.”

But Zanu-PF party spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo dismissed the claims and challenged the affected teachers to report the matter to the police.

“Zanu-PF is a party of law and order, we subscribe to the rule of law. If there are any instances of what Artuz is alleging, then they should report such matters to the police,” he said.

“If they want to get to the bottom of the issue, the Zanu-PF provincial leadership is there. They should ask the provincial chairman what is happening. The police are there to contain such characters.”

Primary and Secondary Education ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said he had not received reports of teacher intimidation by ruling party supporters.

“No, we have not received any reports of such nature, and please also note that some of these teachers’ unions who have a membership of at least 386 people only want to cause alarm and despondency,” he said.

But Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe president Takavafira Zhou said teachers were being victimised, adding that government had dismally failed to fulfil its promises to teachers.

“We also are witnessing a sad situation where village heads are teaming up with school development committee members and are evicting the incapacitated teachers from school accommodation,” he said.

“We want to warn such misguided figures that they have no locus standi in intervening in cases between teachers and their employer.”

Leaked Phone Call Exposes CIO, Chiredzi MP Underhand Dealings On Cottco Tender

By A Correspondent- A leaked phone conversation between Zanu-PF’s Chiredzi North MP Roy Bhila and Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco) business manager Innocent Gukwe has exposed political interference in the awarding of tenders in parastatals.

The meddling was exposed when Bhila ordered the cancellation of a transport tender which had been awarded to Sasavona Logistics owned by losing MDC Alliance candidate John Manganye.

In the leaked audio, Bhila is heard ordering Cottco to withdraw the tender for a 31-seater bus to ferry Cottco employees to and from work which had been won by Sasavona Logistics.

This incident happened barely a year after Manganye, who is based in the United Kingdom, made a donation offer to Chiredzi Polyclinic, which the Chiredzi West MP Farai Musikavanhu (Zanu-PF) ordered to be rejected.

In the 2018 harmonised elections, Manganye contested for the Chiredzi West seat against Musikavanhu.

In the leaked telephone conversation, Gukwe could be heard innocently trying to explain that Cottco awarded the tender for a 31-seater omnibus to Sasavona Logistics unaware that it was owned by a losing MDC MP.

Bhila then threatened the Cottco manager saying that he risked getting fired if he did not withdraw the tender offer.

The hapless Gukwe tried to explain Cottco processes in awarding tenders, saying the company did not discriminate along political lines, but Bhila could have none of it.

“No one knew that the bus belonged to an MDC Alliance member. We do not look into people’s political backgrounds when awarding tenders. We thought it was just another local business person. We are now following your decisions on the case because Dingane Ncube (CIO) once came to me with the issue and said he was going to advise me on how to handle the issue,” Gukwe said.

“I am saying withdraw that contract with immediate effect. That bus belongs to an MDC Alliance member. Ministers are coming here on April 23 and the issue is going to be briefed to those ministers.

“The owner of the bus is the one who contested Farai Musikavanhu in 2018 and Musikavanhu is saying he is going to complain about the issue during the briefing with the ministers,” Bhila charged.

He told Gukwe that he would be in soup if he did not withdraw the tender.

“I am saying cancel that tender,” said Bhila before handing the phone to one Soul Nyangoni believed to be a member of the CIO.

Nyangoni then threatened that someone was going to lose their job if they did not cancel the tender.

“You just have to follow the advice you have been given by Bhila and we are managing the issue from our office,” Nyangoni said.

Gukwe has since withdrawn the tender.

The bus was eventually registered under the Zimbabwe Passenger Company (Zupco) franchise. Israel Muchini, the registered owner of the bus confirmed to NewsDay that the Cottco tender had since been cancelled.

“Yes, I was told that the bus was being withdrawn because it is owned by an MDC Alliance member. It is now plying Zupco local routes,” Muchini said.

Bhila refused to comment on the issue.

“2013 Constitution Provided Hope” – All Wishful Thinking Because Mugabe “Dictated” It

By Nomusa Garikai

Dear Mbofana

Thank you, my brother, for your insightful contributions in Bulawayo 24. They are a very significant contribution to the public debate and national enlightenment – just what the doctor ordered for a nation with more than its fair share of a very naïve and gullible electorate and corrupt and incompetent politicians on both sides of the body politics preying on povo’s weaknesses.

“As the shock over the recently gazetted Constitutional Amendment No 2 Act deepens, and the realization of the reality of the brutal shredding, and callous assassination, of any semblance of democracy in Zimbabwe, at the hands of the ruling elite, sinks in – there are sadly some who are still eager to excuse their retrogressive actions by allowing themselves to be used as pawns in this unpardonable treacherous act,” you wrote, referring to the women and youths who voted in support of the amendment.

“Of course, if there are those who still believe that the best and most effective way to empower women, or the youth, or any other previously (or, currently) disadvantaged group, is via affirmative action, or quota systems – which, to be quite honest, I would rather call “favoritism”.

Your criticism is completely justified.

Mugabe appointed Simon Muzenda and then Joice Mujuru as his Vice President ostensibly to achieve tribal and gender balance respectively. Both Muzenda and Mujuru were dull and stupid and allowed Mugabe to do as he damn well pleased, which is exactly why Mugabe wanted them as his deputy!

“Did they merely allow their selfish greed for power, privilege, and wealth – as well as fear of their political party leaders – to prostitute themselves into selling out the whole country, for “thirty pieces of silver”?” You asked rhetorically of the women and youths.

Zanu PF had 2/3 majority for the obnoxious Bill to pass without any in the opposition voting for it.  The opposition women and youths voted for the Bill, regardless, to underline they have been paid the thirty pieces of silver and it is payback time!

“Are they seriously telling (with a straight face) the millions of democracy-loving and progressive Zimbabweans, who overwhelmingly voted for this phenomenal document – which provided enormous hope for a brighter and prosperous future for our nation (as much as the ruling elite were never too keen in actually implementing most of the provisions, especially those promoting and guaranteeing democracy) – that they preferred taking their own country back to the stone age, merely because they wanted some extra seats for women and youth in parliament?” you argued.

Well, you are off track there, the March 2013 Constitution was never the “phenomenal document which provided enormous hope for a brighter and prosperous future”. It was sold to the nation as such but it never lived up to any of these things. Never!

A constitution that is ever at the mercy of an individual of select group of individuals without the check and balances to stop him or them corrupting the it for his or their selfish gain will never ever deliver and guarantee the individual freedoms and rights. Never! And sadly that is exactly what has happened with Zimbabwe’s March 2013 constitution.

The new constitution failed to deliver free, fair and credible elections in July 2013, barely four months after the nation had voted for it resoundingly? Four years later there was the November 2017 military coup which Justice George Chiweshe ruled was “legal, justified and constitutional”. Zanu PF was able to blatantly rig the 2018 elections and now the regime is amending the constitution to consolidate its dictatorial powers. All these things have happened precisely because the March 2013 Constitution is weak and feeble.

Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends wanted the people to accept the new constitution as an MDC democratic achievement, “MDC child” and so they went town in singing its praises. Paul Mangwana, Mugabe’s pointer man on the parliamentary committee that drafted the constitution, boasted soon after the referendum that Mugabe “dictated” the document.

Of course, the Constitution is a dictator’s creed; Mugabe would never dictate anything else. MDC leaders, out of misplace pride and vanity have buried their heads in the sand and would not admit the MDC child is a Zanu PF bastard.

SADC leaders realised Zimbabwe’s new constitution was too weak and feeble to deliver free, fair and credible 2013 elections. They, literally, begged Tsvangirai and his MDC friends not to participate in the elections until democratic reforms were implemented. ‘If you go into elections next month, you are going to lose; the elections are done!’ SADC leaders warned, according to Dr Ibbo Mandaza.

As we know MDC leaders ignored the warning and participated in the 2013 elections, confident the party’s popularity will overwhelm whatever Zanu PF vote rigging shenanigans would bring. Zanu PF used the weak constitution to retain all its dictatorial powers and was able to blatantly rig the 2013 and more, as noted above.

By participating in the flawed and illegal elections MDC leaders are giving the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

Zimbabwe is a Banana Republic, a pariah state, ruled by incompetent, corrupt and murderous thugs who blatantly rig elections to stay in power. The country has been masquerading as a democratic “Second Republic” thanks to the corrupt and incompetent MDC leaders whose continued participation in flawed elections has given Zanu PF legitimacy.

Zimbabwe is in serious economic and political trouble. 41 years and counting of Zanu PF corrupt and tyrannical rule have left the country in economic ruins and political paralysis, as both Zanu PF and the opposition have offered no solution out of the crisis.

MDC leaders and Zimbabweans in general should have listened to SADC leaders’ warning not to participate the flawed and illegal 2013 elections as that only served to give the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. The advice is sound now more that back in 2013. Zanu PF has refused to implement any reforms and is set to rig the 2023 elections. This time Zimbabweans must put their collective foot down and refuse to participate in the flawed elections until reforms are implemented.

MDC leaders are gearing to participate in the 2023 elections under the pretext that by doing so they will be stopping Zanu PF amending the March 2023 Constitution. The constitution has already been compromised, Zanu PF has already seized dictatorial powers and by participating in flawed elections MDC will give Zanu PF legitimacy.

The “2023 elections are done” and by participating we will give that result legitimacy! After 41 years and counting of rigged elections it will be insane to once again foolishly let Zanu PF off the hook!

Marry Chiwenga Hauled To Court On Hospital Bed

By A Correspondent- Wife to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Mary Mubaiwa, has been hospitalised in Harare and the case in which she is accused of assaulting a house maid was deferred to next month.

Harare regional magistrate Mrs Letwin Rwodzi went to the hospital for the remand where she set June 29 as the trial date.

Mubaiwa is being charged with assault after she allegedly bashed a family child minder, Delight Munyoro, outside Hellenic School in 2019.

The State had applied for a warrant of arrest for Mubaiwa after she failed to attend court but her lawyer Ms Beatrice Mtetwa opted for the court to visit Mubaiwa where she is admitted for the court to appreciate her condition.

Mrs Rwodzi agreed to visit Mubaiwa at the medical institution where she is admitted. On her last appearance, Mubaiwa sought a postponement of the matter saying she was very ill, under heavy medication and could not comprehend court proceedings.

Mubaiwa is also facing separate charges of attempted murder after she allegedly tried to kill Vice President Chiwenga while he was in a South African hospital. She is also facing money laundering charges.

On those charges, Mubaiwa, applied for refusal for further remand arguing that it was now 15 months of her attending court with the State failing to complete investigations into her matter. She said the State had promised to complete investigations within a month into her arrest, but had failed.

Ms Mtetwa argued that the State was aware of the complexity of extra-territorial investigations when they made a one month promise. She made the application after the State led by Mrs Netsai Mushayabasa applied for a postponement of the matter to allow police to complete investigations into the matter.

Mrs Mushayabasa told the court that there were extra-territorial investigations which needed to be carried out in South Africa.-statemedia

#BREAKING- Chief Justice Luke Malaba Hauled To Court Over Retirement

Dear colleagues,

The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum has filed an urgent chamber application seeking an order for Chief Justice Malaba to resign by 15 May 2021.

According to the order sought, any action taken by Malaba after midnight of 15 May should be deemed null and void.

The application is based on the legal grounds that the recent amendments to the constitution cannot benefit Chief Justice Malaba. Section 328 of the constitution that deals with tenure of judges cannot be amended without a referendum.

“It is also the fault of the second respondent (Chief Justice Malaba) who by now should have proceeded on leave to allow for a smooth hand over and takeover.

There was such a smooth handover and takeover when his predecessor left office. There has been no movement from second respondent’s end even before the bill was signed into law.

The impression created is that he had waited for the bill to be signed into law,” the NGO stated in its papers.

Bid To Stop Chief Justice Malaba From Extending Term of Office

By Jane Mlambo| A human rights advocacy organisation the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum has launched an ambitious bid to stop Chief Justice Luke Malaba from extending his term of office beyond 15 May when he reaches the retirement age of 70.

Malaba is expected to benefit from a contract extension after a Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 2 which among other things extend the retirement age of High Court judges from 70 to 75 years, was signed into law by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

There are fears that the constitutional amendments were hurried ahead of 15 May to favour Malaba who is expected to vacate office on the midnight of that day.

In his High Court application, NGO Forum Director Musa Kika said he is seeking that by midnight of 15 May, Malaba ceases to be Chief Justice and that his deputy Elizabeth Gwaunza takes over in an acting capacity until a substantive person is appointed.

“As a consequential relief I seek the following:

“That Luke Malaba must or did at midnight on 15 May 2021 cease to hold the office of Chief Justice of Zimbabwe.

“That any action, conduct or deed of Luke Malaba post the 15th of May 2021 purportedly as the Chief Justice of Zimbabwe is null and void and of no effect.

“That in accordance with provisions of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, 2013, with effect from midnight on the 15th of May 2021, Elizabeth Gwaunza became/becomes the Acting Chief Justice of Zimbabwe until such a time as a substantive Chief justice of Zimbabwe is appointed,” said Kika.

He added that the first beneficiary Chief Justice of the 2013 constitution left office when he reached the age of 70 while questioning the logic behind Malaba’s term of office being extended beyond.

“Respectfully, second respondent has run his course. He has not been the only Chief Justice under the 2013 constitution. The first Chief Justice bowed out when he turned 70. Nothing stops second respondent from doing the same thing,” he said.

It remains to be seen if Malaba will remain Chief Justice beyond Saturday when he reaches the age of 70.

Mliswa “Beaten” Over Chivayo In Parliament

By A Correspondent- MPs from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) yesterday exchanged blows in Parliament over whether controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo must be summoned to testify on corruption allegations involving a US$183 million Gwanda Solar Project.

The alleged scam was exposed in the 2019 Zesa Holdings forensic audit report by PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Following a heated debate, Norton MP Temba Mliswa (Independent) was allegedly punched on the face by opposition MDC Alliance proportional representation MP Memory Mbondiah, who accused him of undermining other MPs after he discouraged them from summoning Chivayo on the grounds that his case was still before the courts.

Mliswa claimed that in the ensuing melee, Mbondiah grabbed his bag which contained some money.

Chivayo was set to appear before the PAC which is now led by Gweru Urban MP Brian Dube (MDC-T) to explain how his company, Intratrek, won the US$183 million Gwanda Solar Project tender in 2013 ahead of China Jiangxi, which had come first during the adjudication process.

The Gwanda 100-megawatt solar project never took off even though more than US$5 million initial payment had been made to Chivayo.

As MPs deliberated on whether to call Chivayo to appear before the committee, there were heated exchanges.

Mbondiah could be heard yelling at Mliswa, telling him that she was not his wife.

She then charged towards the Norton MP and punched him on the face, while other MPs and Parliament officials tried to restrain her.

Mliswa later told journalists that Mbondiah punched him on the face and also allegedly grabbed his bag.

“I never fight women,” Mliswa said. “That is what happened. She punched me and took my bag and I am still counting how much money was there. My point was that we cannot as Parliament to raise issues which are before the courts, and if we have problems, we then go to the Parliament legal counsel, which then tells us what to do.

“It is separation of powers, the three pillars of the State – and you witnessed it yourself but it is always women who complain that they are beaten, but today you saw me being beaten up and I don’t know what it says when it was mothers’ day yesterday.

“I did not retaliate but as you can see she punched me, she took my bag and I am yet to see if there is anything missing, my phone and all, but this is what you have seen of men being abused in this house by women. I don’t know what women’s’ organisations can say about that.”

He then accused the PAC of being compromised.

“I will not be part of a committee that is compromised. Ask him (Chivayo) whether he has a matter before the courts. This committee cannot be compromised. If there is any matter before the courts it is sub judice and you should ask him if this matter is before the courts. The issue of Intratrek has always been before the media and the courts. We cannot be a court of law,” Mliswa fumed.

But Dube retorted, saying he would not take orders from Mliswa.

“I am not going to ask him that question again and I am going to proceed with the manner that I have indicated. I am not going to be told by you what to ask him (Chivayo),” Dube charged.

In February 2019, when Mliswa was the chairperson of the Mines Portfolio Committee, which was investigating the missing US$15 billion diamond revenue, he was also involved in a fierce fight in Parliament with Chegutu West MP Dexter Nduna.

Yesterday’s incident is not the first time that MPs have clashed while investigating corruption cases.

Mwonzora Stalwarts Exchange Blows At Senior Leader’s House

Wife Killer Kills Self In Police Cells

suicide

By A Correspondent- A Gokwe man who had been on the run after allegedly killing his wife last month has committed suicide by hanging himself in a police cell in Lupane where he had been detained after being arrested.

Maqawe Maseko (31) of Majanga village in Gokwe had fled from Gokwe and sought refuge in Lupane before a relative tipped police who arrested and detained him at Lupane Police Station  where he allegedly used a seam of a blanket to hang himself last Friday.

Police national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and said investigations are in progress.

He said Maseko was wanted for murder.

“I can confirm that we are conducting investigations in connection with the death of a suspect in police cells in Lupane. The deceased is somebody who police were looking for in connection with the death of a woman in Gokwe,” said Assistant Commissioner Nyathi.

He said the incident happened on Friday last week.

Maseko was alone as he was the only suspect in the cell and police suspect that he may have hanged himself between 3PM and 9PM as the incident was discovered when police on duty changed shifts.

According to police, Maseko was wanted in Manoti in connection with a case where he allegedly killed his wife sometime in April and has been on the run.

On Friday, an unnamed relative who resides in St Luke’s area in Lupane informed a Neighborhood Watch Committee member Mr Lovemore Chisuko of Maseko’s presence.

Mr Chisuko arrested Maseko and took him to Lupane Police Station where he was detained in cells for the night.

While in the police cell, Maseko allegedly tore a seam from a blanket and hanged himself from the roof truss.

His lifeless body was discovered when police changed shifts at 9PM.-statemedia

Nasty End To Affair As Lovebirds File Court Cases Against Each Other

By A Correspondent| Two love birds Denton Leslie Boschie and Haden Tebb Tanya Robin have slapped each other with lawsuit and criminal charges including a US$500 000 lawsuit following a nasty break-up, 263Chat can report.

The girlfriend, Robin filed criminal charges against Boschie including several counts of assault as well as recording her while being sexually intimate.

Boschie on the other hand filed a US$500 000 lawsuit against her ex-girlfriend.

However, the sexual intimacy recording charges were dismissed by Harare magistrate Sharon Rakafa at the close of the State case last week while Boschie denies the allegations of recording their sexual act.

Boschie told the court that Robin planted CCTV cameras in her house to trap her maids whom she accused of stealing from her.

Robin alleges that on several occasions, Boschie physically assaulted her for no apparent reason, charges her ex-boyfriend denied.

She further told the court that Boschie forced her to change the ownership of her house to his name as well as assaulting her for not preparing food for him.

“These allegations were designed to intimidate me to abandon the half a million dollars lawsuit which is under the High Court had high prospects of success,” Boschie told court.

Boschie also told court that when their relationship ended, he moved out of the house but faced challenges in taking her belongings as Robin refused her access.

He further said Robin obtained a peace order at the Harare Magistrates Court to stop him from collecting his belongings that he had left in her house.

ZACC Responds To Own Investigator’s Corruption Claims

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has said it did not receive any formal complaint against one of its investigators, Eric Chacha on allegations of criminal abuse of office following reports the commission had ignored the issue which had been brought to its attention.

According to the commission, anyone who has any complaints against an investigating officer should either approach ZACC or file a report with police so that investigations are conducted.

Chacha was this year accused of obstructing the course of justice and criminally abusing his office, among other allegations. Reports say letters have been written to ZACC and other relevant authorities concerning these allegations and some people have taken to social media asking what action has been taken against Chacha.

Among those who reportedly filed letters of complaint to ZACC against Chacha are senior police officer Commissioner Erasmus Makodza, Chief Superintendent Joseph Josphat Matipforo and suspended Registrar-General Clement Masango.

In a post on his Twitter handle recently, one Tongerai Rugare he alleged that Chacha was living through corrupt tendencies and urged the commission to take action.

“I just did a desktop type of lifestyle audit on one of your investigators. He stays 80km from his workplace, drives an estimated 20km in and around Harare. Making a total of 180km a day. His car’s consumption is approximately 1 litre to 9km. He requires 20 litres of fuel a day.

“He works an average of 21 days a month thus he requires 420 litres of fuel a month at an average cost of US$1,22 per litre that translates to US$512,40 plus US$4 per day tollgate fees thus an additional US$44 making it US$566,40 per month on travelling.   The estimated combined monthly income with his wife is a total net salary of (about) $60 000 which translates to about US$500 using a rate of US$1:$120. He has a family of four thus requires an average of US$150 for groceries and electricity that will bring his total monthly expenses to US$706,40. That’s at the most basic we have a deficit of US$206.”

He added: “The next question is how is the officer funding his lifestyle? Answer: CORRUPTION! You don’t need a rocket scientist to prove that he is corrupt. I guess this is an easy one to prove.”

Recently, lawyers representing Commissioner Makodza wrote to ZACC saying Chacha must recuse himself from investigating their client alleging that he was obstructing the course of justice and criminally abusing his office.

Commissioner Makodza was recently arrested for criminal abuse of duty as a public officer and is out on $10 000 bail. Chacha is the investigating officer in this case. Comm Makodza’s lawyers, Nyamayaro, Makanza and Bakasa Legal Practitioners say Chacha must recuse himself from investigating their client since he has a corrupt relationship with suspected land baron Felix Munyaradzi.

Munyaradzi was arrested last year on allegations of duping stand seekers in Sandton near Westgate in Harare. The lawyers said Munyaradzi was an accused person in a case of fraud were Comm Makodza was the complainant. Munyaradzi and Chacha allegedly communicated on various occasions during the period between December 2020 and February 2021. In addition, Chacha’s wife, Constable Fortunate Dube, who is based in Marondera, is also alleged to have been receiving various amounts of cash from Munyaradzi.

Munyaradzi is also alleged to have paid for the car Dube is driving and is said to have built her a house in Marondera. In February, another senior police officer Chief Superintendent Matipforo filed a report alleging Chacha was obstructing the course of justice and criminally abusing his office in handling his matter. Chief Supt Matipforo was under investigation for bribery and criminal abuse of office after he was allegedly allocated a residential stand corruptly by Harare City Council officers who are under police investigation.

In a letter dated February 12 to ZACC chair Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo, copied to police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga, head of the Special Anti-Corruption Unit (SACU) Mr Thabani Mpofu and Prosecutor General Mr Kumbirai Hodzi, Chief Supt Matipforo said the letter was not aimed at stopping investigations into his case, but to highlight irregularities in the manner Chacha was handling the matter.

Chacha is also the investigating officer in a case in which suspended Registrar-General Clement Masango is accused of flouting tender procedures when purchasing vehicles for his department. Masango is being charged with criminal abuse of office.

Cop Busted For Illegally Releasing Deportees

By A Correspondent- A 31-year-old off-duty police officer attached to the ZRP Support Unit has been arrested for illegally releasing seven deportees from the Beitbridge quarantine centre after taking a R1500 bribe.

Webster Mudadisi was busted by his colleagues soon after escorting the group from the facility on Friday.

He was not asked to plead to charges of criminal abuse of office as a public officer when he appeared before Ms Vavariro Gabi on Saturday.
Mudadisi was remanded in custody to May 20 for trial.

Prosecuting, Mr Ronald Mugwagwa told the court that the accused, who is currently deployed to Beitbridge quarantine centre was off duty when he committed the offence.

He told the court that on May 7, Mudadisi was approached by one man who had been deported from South Africa and was offered R250 to facilitate his escape from quarantine.

The State further alleged that the accused asked the man to mobilise more people who were to pay R250 bribes each to buy their freedom.

Mudadisi was then given R1500 to facilitate the release of seven people.
After which, he escorted them out of the quarantine and was intercepted by other police officers who were closely monitoring his movements.

Upon realising that he had been busted, he forcibly stashed the bribe money in one of the deportees’ jacket.

The group was interrogated and revealed they had paid Mudadisi who was subsequently arrested and the money was recovered.

Tapiwa Makore’s Missing Body Parts, Family Presses Police To Act

By A Correspondent- The family of the slain Murewa boy, Tapiwa Makore, says it is still waiting to hear from the police on the progress made in searching for their son’s head.

Tapiwa was allegedly murdered in September last year for ritual purposes and was buried six months later in March.

His father, Munyaradzi Makore, told NewsDay that they were still waiting to hear from the police.

“We are still waiting. We haven’t heard anything from the police since the burial of our son. We will hear from them. So far, nothing can be said concerning the missing body parts,” he said.

The remains of the boy were buried at his homestead in Nyamutumbu village at a funeral that was attended by government ministers.

The family has tried in vain both traditional and religious means to locate the boy’s head.

Last Wednesday in the National Assembly, Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala (MDC Alliance) asked Home Affairs minister Kazembe Kazembe to explain what the police was doing to ensure that the boy’s head was found.

“What I am aware of is that forensic audits were done and the family was not very satisfied. They were saying some of the parts do not belong to him. The family was then free to choose their own scientists who would carry out the forensic audit. As far as the police are concerned, thorough investigations were done,” Kazembe said.

Justice Luke Malaba

By Mari Matutu | The Urgent Court Application by Dr. Musa Kika:
I was impressed by the approach and strategy taken by one Mr Musa Kika in his application to declare any attempt by Luke Malaba to over stay his tenure, illegal; more particular to the fact that he stresses that it
does not need a court order.

However I still have reservations on his relief sought: to 5- seek to have Elizabeth Gwaunza act as Chief Justice in terms of section 181 and order 6- seek that Paddington Garwe become Deputy Chief Justice in terms of s181.

These two reliefs are flawed and not in consistent with his arguments in relation to Luke Malaba.

First let’s put section 181(1) on paper.
This is what it says: 181 Acting judicial appointments- (1) If the office of Chief Justice is vacant or if the office holder is unable to perform the functions of the office, the Deputy Chief Justice acts in his or her place, but if both offices are vacant or both office-holders are unable to perform their functions, the next most senior judge of the Constitutional Court acts as Chief Justice.

Things to note from this are:
i) that the only post that can be vacant and require an acting person is of Chief Justice.
From the wording and text of section 181(1) there is no post for Acting Deputy Chief
Justice. Actually if the Chief Justice is absent the first protocol is that the Deputy
Chief Justice assumes the role of Chief Justice and if both Chief Justice and Deputy
Chief Justice are absent then the next Senior Judge of the Constitutional Court acts as
Chief Justice, never as Deputy Chief Justice.

ii) A Constitutional Court Judge is defined by either section 18(2) of 6th schedule ,
which has since lapsed its timeframe on 21 May 2020 or a Constitutional Court
Judge by section 166(1). The Constitutional Court Judge is one that must in terms of
section 177(1) have sound knowledge of Constitutional Law. In this instance from
Mr Musa Kika’s own application, it is proven that Justice Paddington Garwe is a
Supreme Court Judge and not a Constitutional Court Judge in terms of s166(1).

Only in s18(2) of 6th Schedule could we have a Supreme Court Judge Acting as
Constitutional Court Judge. The value and weight of two forms of Constitutional
Courts can be seen in that, it takes 9 judges of the Supreme Court to decide the same
matter as 3 Judges of the Constitutional Court. If it is translated in proportion it means the sound knowledge of the Constitutional law of one Constitutional Court Judge
appointed in terms of s166(1) is equal to 3 Judges of the Supreme Court appointed in
terms of s18(2) of 6th schedule.

iii) The fact is Justice Garwe is a Supreme Court Judge and cannot act as Deputy Chief
Justice in terms of section 181(1). Only a Judge of the Constitutional Court can act as
Chief Justice. There is no where in the law that a Supreme Court Judge can act as Chief
Justice or Deputy Chief Justice.

Who Exactly Is Behind This Massive Gold Smuggling?

Dear Zimbabweans.

Ours is really a curse, for how can a country endowed with vast minerals be amongst the poorest in the world. Current cases of massive gold bullion smuggling through Harare International Airport point to aw well organised cartel working with powerful people. This said airport has become a hub of criminal activity, the transit point of smuggled precious minerals, ivory and drugs.

Suspected gold smuggler caught with gold worth USD780,000 at OT airport

While the President is busy opening bridges thieves are busy milking
the country dry. How on this earth can a mere person pass through the
airport’s check points with such amount of gold undetected? If ours
wasn’t a banana republic where looting is the business of the day surely big heads must have rolled within CAAZ. The fact that its business as usual points to very powerful people behind these runners and by the time we wake up this country will be a shell.

We need a complete overhaul of all the systems that deal with governance, border control and law enforcement. Those entrusted with leadership positions must lead by example with zero tolerance for rotten eggs.

Murder Accused Man Hangs Self

A GOKWE man who had been on the run after allegedly killing his wife last month has committed suicide by hanging himself in a police cell in Lupane where he had been detained after being arrested.

Kombi Operators Bash ZRP Cop

A KOMBI driver and a conductor as well as a woman from Bulawayo who allegedly assaulted a police officer on duty and smashed his mobile phone have appeared in court.

Man Kills Wife, Hangs Self In Police Cell

A GOKWE man who had been on the run after allegedly killing his wife last month has committed suicide by hanging himself in a police cell in Lupane where he had been detained after being arrested.

His lifeless body was discovered when police changed shifts at 9PM.- Chronicle

Zim Teenager Makes Sunderland Debut

ZIMBABWEAN teenager Ethan Kachosa, who signed a professional contract with Sunderland’s development side in England, did not need much time to settle as he scored his first goal for the side on debut in the victory over Everton Under-18s.

Kachosa, who mainly plays at full-back, won a penalty for Sunderland’s opener and then added the team’s fourth in the 4-3 victory.

His father, Henry Kachosa, confirmed he had switched base from Leeds United where he has featured for their Under-23s in the EFL Trophy this season. Kachosa has been a consistent performer at Leeds where he won the Leeds United Academy Players Player of the Year award in 2019.

“Sunderland have signed him on professional contract on Wednesday and scored on his debut on Saturday beating Everton 4-3,” said Henry.

Another new boy Shane Temple scored in the match.

An entertaining affair saw Everton edged out in a seven-goal tussle against Sunderland at USM Finch Farm on Saturday afternoon.

Sean McAllister struck twice for the young Blues while Jenson Metcalfe’s goal gave the hosts hope with 15 minutes to go but Paul Tait’s side just fell short in this Under-18s Premier League (North) encounter.

Sunderland, who were bright throughout the opening exchanges, had their first chance just four minutes in.

A fast break saw Kachosa in on goal, but a fantastic fingertip save by Zan-Luk Leban denied the lively winger.

The visitors continued to press energetically throughout and reaped their rewards when winning a penalty on 17 minutes.

Neat play saw Kachosa cut inside sharply in the penalty area before being tripped, Caden Kelly sending Leban the wrong way from the spot-kick.- The Herald

Why President Mugabe Dumped Kazungula Project

Zimbabwe is set to join Zambia and Botswana in the Kazungula Bridge project after the late former President Robert Mugabe’s government snubbed the project due to “donor influence.”

Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday joined his other Sadc colleagues as a guest during the official opening of the bridge although government officials claimed Harare co-owned the bridge together with Botswana and Zambia.

Zambian and Botswana leaders Edgar Lungu and Mokgweetsi Masisi, respectively, officiated at the event, with speeches by the two governments mum on Zimbabwe’s role on the project.

Presidential spokesperson George Charamba, however, said the project was snubbed by the Mugabe administration due to “donor influence”.

“The Kazungula Bridge had to curve after the first republic in Zimbabwe objected to the project because of donor influence. With agreement, the bridge would have been a lot shorter,” he said.

Charamba added that Zimbabwe re-joined the tri-national Kazungula Bridge project after the second republic and was expected to meet a third of the total cost of the facility to back up its stake.

“Negotiations are currently underway, and will entail development of a border facility on the Zimbabwean side, as well as the widening of the Kasane-Victoria Falls City Road. Victoria Falls city is a key destination for the area.”

The project is meant to facilitate trade through reducing transit time for freight and passengers and a reduction in time-based trade and transport costs and improvement in border management operations arising from the new one-stop border facility.

Speaking at the official opening of the Kazungula Bridge in Zambia, President Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe is committed to be part of the massive project.

“This is a milestone achievement in our SADC region. I wish to thank sincerely my brothers, President Masisi and President Lungu, who in 2018 invited Zimbabwe to be part of this project, indeed in the fullness of time, Zimbabwe will be part of this project.

“I reiterate Zimbabwe’s commitment to be part of this project for the benefit of our SADC region,” he said. – NewsDay

What Are Legumes?

Types, Health Benefits, Nutrition Facts, Cooking Methods, and More

Natural Sounds The Best Remedy For Stress

SELF-CARE

Why the Sounds of Nature Are So Good for Health and Well-Being

New data finds that even listening to recordings of nature can boost mood, decrease stress, and even lessen pain.

According to new data, listening to birdsong helped decrease stress.Mia Kievy/iStock
The whoosh of wind through a stretch of forest, birds calling to one another as they land on branches, the gurgle of a brook over a rocky bed — these are the kinds of sounds that are not only calming, but could have profound health and well-being benefits, according to a research review in the April 2021 Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

For the review, the researchers looked at 18 studies investigating the health benefits of natural sound; study participants listened to recordings of outdoor sounds in laboratory settings. Participants reported less stress and improved health outcomes, like decreased pain, after listening to recordings of nature sounds.

Water sounds, such as that gurgling brook or a steady waterfall, tended to be the most effective at improving positive affect (the psychological term for a more positive outlook or disposition and the experience of joy and interest), while bird sounds were best for lowering stress.

The study’s lead author, Rachel Buxton, PhD, a research associate and conservation biologist in the Department of Biology at Carleton University in Ottawa, says she isn’t surprised by the findings. “From an evolutionary perspective, humans are hardwired to attend to signals of danger and security. And an environment that is filled with natural sounds feels safe and allows us to let our guard down,” she says.

This research adds to a substantial body of evidence that proximity to nature and time spent outdoors is good for human health and well-being.

Research Shows Green Space Benefits Health in Many Ways
Research published in June 2019 in Scientific Reports found that people who spent just two hours per week outside in a natural setting (including town parks, state parks, woodlands, and beaches) reported greater well-being compared with people who spent less time outdoors.

SA Punishes Zim Gold Smuggler, Gives Him Stringent Bail Conditions

By A Correspondent- A South African Court has imposed stringent bail conditions to a Zimbabwean gold smuggler, Tashinga Nyasha Masinire, who was arrested at the weekend by South African police at OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, for possessing 23 prices of gold worth R11m (US$783 000).

Masinire appeared in court today and was granted R100 000 bail by Kempton Park Regional Court in Joburg.

He was remanded out to 1 July 2021, with stringent bail conditions, ordered not to leave SA until the case is concluded and reporting to police 3 times a week.

Bulawayo Residents Form Bosso Supporters Association In Controversial Circumstances

By A Correspondent- Scores of Highlanders members and supporters met at the clubhouse on Sunday to form a Greater Bulawayo Highlanders Supporters Chapter in a controversy-filled afternoon.

The meeting was held at the same time and place as that of the popular Heart and Soul Supporters Chapter.

In an interview, with the state media interim chairman of the Greater Bulawayo Supporters Chapter Themba Mhlophe said they had the blessings of the club yet club executive committee member Mgcini Mafu chose to attend the Heart and Soul meeting.

There are claims that the Bulawayo Supporters Chapter is a project funded by a losing candidate in the March Highlanders elections, but Mhlophe rubbished those claims.

“We are not someone’s project, we are just a group of staunch Highlanders members and supporters whose interest is to push the Bosso agenda, nothing more, nothing less,” said Mhlophe, a renowned athletics coach and administrator.

He said they will soon draft a working document to direct their operations.
“Look we formed this chapter after the realisation that we have too many supporters’ chapters in Bulawayo which wasn’t portraying a good picture of this great institution. We believe one united and big chapter in Bulawayo is the way to go. We will soon be rolling out our programmes as a chapter,” said Mhlophe.

Two weeks ago a meeting was held at the clubhouse with the sole aim of establishing a single supporters’ chapter, but the group failed to reach a consensus, mainly on the name, as some felt that Heart and Soul should be the main name while others, mostly former members of Heart and Soul, said a new name was the way to go.

Heart and Soul was formed in 2011.

Mhlophe leads a four-member interim committee and is deputised by Fisinolia Dube, while Pauline Ncube is the interim secretary-general and Never Phiri is the committee member.

“We did not elect a treasurer because we are still an interim and are yet to have financial books. In three months when we have drafted our constitution, we will then choose a treasurer,” said Mhlophe.

Mbire Madzibaba Fathers 151 Children

By A Correspondent- A Mbire man in Mashonaland Central Province, Misheck Nyandoro, has fathered 151 children with 16 wives and he is still counting.

“Mine is a project. This polygamy is a project that I have undertaken since 1983 and will end with my death. Whenever that day death visits, is when I will stop marrying and fathering children.

“I am planning on taking in my 17th wife this winter and the formalities are already being worked on. I will tell you when she comes in,’’ he says in a very relaxed but confident manner.

From his conundrum, 50 children are still in school in Mbire, Harare, Mutare and Guruve and little everywhere else, six are employed by the Zimbabwe National Army, two by police and 11 others are employed in different professions. He has married off 13 daughters. Two wives are pregnant. At least 23 of his sons are married, one of which is distantly following his father’s footsteps, on a count of four wives.

The project, he claims, has started working and his children pamper him with gifts daily.

“From my working children and getting pampered with money through EcoCash, almost daily and 11 of my children have put me on funeral policy. I get goods from sons-in-law.”

Day after day, Nyandoro sits in his centrally located shed, eating meals, one by one, his wives bringing food for him. That is a good 16 meals!

“Every wife cooks her best every day because the rule is I only eat what is delicious and I throw away what is not tasty. Every wife subscribes to that rule and does not get annoyed when I return her badly cooked food to her. It is the rule here. Rejected food should make her cook better next time,’’ he explains.

As he eats from that shed, Nyandoro plans that night’s duty roster for his wives’ conjugal rights and by his own admission, when planning the roster, he takes into consideration many factors. No wife knows she is on duty until he visits her bedroom.

“I married my first wife in 1983 and she is still here. I last married 2015 and stopped temporarily because the economy had become unfriendly. The New Dispensation has slowly fixed things and am getting a new one this June, she is currently in Harare and I have started the process. Had it not been for temporary economic hardships, the story would have been different, maybe getting close to 30 wives by now and 200 plus children.

“Now that the economy has stabilised, if you come back next year you will find two or three more new wives and several children, added to the number. But in the past six years, I have fathered 22 children. I am not stopping,” brags Mr Nyandoro.

“I am strong and feel as strong as I was when I was 18. I give conjugal rights to an average of four wives a night and I do the duty roaster personally. I go to the targeted bedrooms one by one. That is my job. There is no other job I do. They are all catered for and you can see they are happy. Afternoon conjugal rights are not considered during the duty roster, for, that is mainly accidental.

“You are free to interview each of them separately and in my absence. From where I stand, they are all happy! When I had five wives and below, I used to give them two-days conjugal rights duty each but as the number increased, I changed my tactics,’’ he declares.

Do you mean four women per night?

“Yes, four! Let me tell you the trick. It is like crop rotation in farming. The next crop is a new crop, it brings new energy and new dynamics.

“The moment I see the next woman, she is a completely new person and I feel like I haven’t done anything before. There is no magic but a sound mind. Never be lied to about juju or magic or anything. To me, every wife is a new person. It feels different.

“When I am dealing with each wife, I tune myself to her age and demands so that we operate from the same level. What I do with the young wives is not what I do with the elderly ones. But again the reason why I am marrying two or three more in the recent future is that the elderly wives are no longer much interested in sex.

“At times I am chased away or told to go for the younger ones.”

But why so many wives and children?

“I have not stopped making babies, the sky is the limit. I have not stopped marrying either, God allowing, I will go even up to 100 wives and maybe 1000 children. Western Europe has a big project to reduce Africa’s population and am against that. I am a war veteran, the Government pays for my children’s fees. I have no problem.”

How does he manage?

“I am a very powerful, firm and principled man. Every woman or child knows it. I don’t favour anyone. I am in charge. My oldest wife has the biggest number of children, 13. But I am not stopping her. As long as she can still conceive, it is game on.

“Two other wives gave birth to 12 children each and they might still be going.

Nyandoro’s family mainly relies on farming, courtesy of the land reform programme and after each harvest, he shares accordingly.

At the moment he has been newly allocated 93 hectares near Mvurwi Mountains, to carter for his huge family after the Government realised he needed more land.

“I have started moving to this new place. My wives will now all come to this place because where I was in the village the land was small, then the land I got during the land reform the first time was small. So am happy with the new land,’’ he says.

“My church does not allow women to cook together. Each must cook on her own in as much as she sleeps in her own bedroom. I married all my women according to church discipline. I never married an under-aged girl. I wait for 18 years. The church does not allow me to marry someone who was once married. NO!

“I have paid lobola accordingly. None of the wives was organised for me. I approached each one of them personally. Of course, these women have small camps but I manage them.”

Born in Mbire District north of Harare in 1955, Misheck Nyandoro joined the Johanne Marange Apostolic church in 1972.

In 1977 he joined the liberation struggle and was trained at Mgagao Camp before coming back to operate in the then Dande Tribal Trust Land as a medic. It is there, that he saw his colleagues dying at the hands of the Rhodesian army and vowed to replace them by siring many children if he survived the war.

At independence in 1980, he was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army and worked briefly in Nyanga and Bulawayo. It was while at BBS Nyangombe Camp in Nyanga that he married his first wife.

He also worked at Four Brigade in Gutu, Masvingo.

At the army, he rose through the army ranks to sergeant before retiring.

After marrying his first wife, the aftermath became a roller coaster of marrying until the economic hiatus restrained him in 2002.

At times he married three wives in a year. Had it not been for the economic hiatus, the story could have been different.

Very, very different!

“I am not employed. I have to satisfy my wives. I know each of them personally and I satisfy them accordingly.”

Parting shot: “A man who is ruled by women has no place in Heaven.”
