A LUPANE man beat his friend to death following an argument on who was older between the two, a court heard.
Levison Luphahla (32) of Geleza village was incensed by Khumbulani Tshuma (30)’s insistence that he was older and went berserk.
He viciously attacked Tshuma, from neighbouring Mangevula village, in Jotsholo under Chief Mabhikwa with a log, killing him on the spot.
Luphahla pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to a lesser charge of culpable homicide when he appeared before Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Martin Makonese who is on circuit in Hwange.
The judge sentenced him to four years in prison.
Justice Makonese said while Luphahla was intoxicated when he committed the crime, he had used excessive force causing the death of Tshuma.
Luphahla, who was represented by Ms Linda Mthombeni of Dube, Nkala and Company, will however serve an effective three years after one year was suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The two had been drinking homemade beer at Mrs Mainah Ncube’s homestead where villagers had been gathered to help harvest sorghum.
Other villagers left for their homesteads at sunset leaving the two drinking after which a misunderstanding arose around 8:30pm.
Tshuma picked two wooden stools and threw them at Luphahla one after the other hitting him on the face before he fled from the scene.
Luphahla gave chase and caught up with his friend who he hit several times with a log causing his death in a nearby maize field.
Prosecuting, Mrs Martha Cheda said Luphahla told Mrs Ncube in the morning that he had killed his friend.
“On the 31st day of May 2020 at around 8:30PM Luphahla and the now deceased were drinking beer when a misunderstanding arose between them on who was older than the other,” said Mrs Cheda.
Tshuma was found dead the following morning.
Mrs Ncube informed the village head about the matter and a report was made to the police leading to Luphahla’s arrest.- Chronicle
The World Karate Federation (WKF) has provisionally withdrawn recognition of the Zimbabwe Karate Union (ZKU) with immediate effect for operating in breach of the global governing’s body statutes.
The Zimbabwe Karate Union has continued to administer both semi and full-contact karate in breach of the WKF statutes which were revised in 2018.
Article 5.15 of the WKF constitution states:
National Federations are prohibited from being affiliated with any karate organisation not recognised by WKF. Affiliates are also prohibited from having any sporting relationships with such non-recognised organisations or with any suspended WKF National Federation.
Non-compliance with this prohibition would give rise to disciplinary sanctions. Illegal double affiliation would constitute just grounds for disaffiliation from WKF.
In a letter dated 5 March 2021, and addressed to ZKU president Stephen Charandura, the WKF wrote:
Kindly note that the provisional disaffiliation of the ZKU will be submitted for the ratification of the WKF Congress at its next meeting.
On that occasion, the ZKU will be granted the opportunity to express its view with regard to disaffiliation of WKF, if it so wishes. Please note that the congress will have the entire discretion to disaffiliate ZKU.
Please note that your federation will, as of today, no longer be entitled to the rights reserved only to WKF members, including but not limited to participating in WKF events, use the WKF logo, name and representing the WKF in Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe National Karate Federation which is for various styles but mainly semi-contact), headed by former ZKU president Sensei Joe Rugwete has not been suspended.
The Zimbabwe National Karate Federation and the Zimbabwe Karate Union went separate ways recently due to disagreements on how to run the institution.
In June last year, then-ZKU president Sensei Rugwete was quoted by the Chronicle as saying the organisation faced suspension or expulsion from the World Karate Federation. Speaking on the way forward back then, he said:
It’s not going to be a decision for the president (himself) and the vice-president (Sensei Tawanda Mufundisi). It’s a decision of members of ZKU, semi and full-contact.
If we don’t comply, we will get expelled, so on this issue, we really need to get both sides, semi-contact, and full-contact.
The parties failed to reach an agreement leading to the formation of the new association, the Zimbabwe National Karate Federation (ZNKF) while the full contact side continued with the ZKU that has been suspended.- Chronicle

By James Gwati- The recalling of the Harare East lawmaker and MDC-Alliance deputy President Tendai Biti, could be a ploy by the ruling Zanu Pf party to stop him from exposing the corruption in the state-run parastatals.
Biti has been vocal in parliament during his Public Accounts portfolio committee hearing where he has exposed massive corruption cases by President Emmerson Mnangagwa allies who are looting parastatals.
He (Biti), William Madzimure (Kambuzuma), Settlement Chikwinya (Mbizo), Nhlahla Pulu (Nkulumane), Sichelesile Mahlangu (Pumula) and Regai Tsunga (Mutasa South) were today recalled from parliament by DP secretary-general Mr Benjamin Rukanda.

As I tweet, His Excellency Excellency the President, Cde E.D. Mnangagwa accompanied by Vice President CDGN Chiwenga, is receiving two former members of the MDC, Cdes Obert Gutu and James Makore, who have decided to rejoin Zanu-PF.
COMMENT:
The rejoining of ZANU PF by the known Proddical Sons,Obert Gutu & James Makore does not surprise us, ineffect it was overdue to be declared in public by their newly found sanctuary , Zanu PF. We are only surprised why this announcement has taken over 2 years to parade them publicly. We long new this was coming since the aforementioned men have been so desperate for party positions & survival. Parading political renegades at the State House is unconstitutional because Zanu PF activities should be done and paraded at the Shake – shake house, the Zanu PF Headquarters,in Harare or elsewhere. Zanu PF president should separate state factions from party factions.
Desperate individuals purporting to be politicians can’t stop the Great Movement, the MDC A to move on and emancipate all oppressed Zimbabweans. It’s only time but the processes are now evident to all rational and level headed citizenry.

By James Gwati-A celebrated Zimbabwean and Internationally recognised female lawyer who abandoned President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s advisory post, Petina Gappah, has joined the African Continental Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat.
Gapa quitted Mnangagwa’s trade and investment advisory role in 2019 after being frustrated by the Zanu PF leader’s close lieutenants, who she accused of pursuing personal wealth accumulation at the expense of genuine reforms to turn around the country’s fortunes.
“I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat as Principal Legal Advisor in the Office of the Secretary-General. It’s an honor to use the skills and experience of a lifetime to assist SG Wamkele Mene and AU Members to build the AfCFTA,” she posted on her Twitter handle, Wednesday.
Gappah, a lawyer and writer, was among Mnangagwa’s first group of top aides at the birth of his new dispensation in 2017, globetrotting with the President and driving the government’s re-engagement efforts with the Western world.
She was part of a government delegation that travelled with Mnangagwa to Davos for the World Economic Forum last year, leading the government’s international public relations campaign. Before that, she had worked at the World Trade Organisation in Geneva for 17 years.
By James, Gwati-Zanu PF has hijacked the funeral of the late and former Studio 263 Actress Anne Nhira.
Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Deputy Minister Tino Machakaire, Zanu PF acting deputy secretary for the Youth League Tendai Chirau, Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Seke-Chikomba, Tatenda Mavetera, Zanu PF Harare Province youth chairman Emmanuel Mahachi on Tuesday flocked the Nhira residence in Manyame Park, Chitungwiza.
The Zanu PF team thronged the Nhira homestead led by Deputy Minister Machakaire, in the name of delivering the news of the State-assisted funeral to the family.
Nhira, died last week in South Africa from injuries she sustained from an attack by robbers.
By A Correspondent-Actress Anne Nhira, who was granted a State-assisted funeral, died a painful death after she was attacked by robbers in South Africa last week while coming from morning prayers in a mountain where she had gone with her brother Juan.
Family spokesperson and Anne’s cousin, Mrs Florence Ziyambi, yesterday said a day after the attack, Anne started spitting blood and her body was swollen.
“It is very painful. My sister was mugged while coming from a mountain for prayers with her brother Juan. They had gone to pray early in the morning and Anne was the first to descend, while her brother remained at the mountain for a few minutes,” said Mrs Ziyambi.
“As she was walking in the park, she was attacked and the robbers got away with her handbag. She was then assisted by Juan who took her to the clinic where she was checked first day. Tthey said she was okay.”
Mrs Ziyambi said Anne’s condition worsened the following day.
“On Tuesday last week, she started having pains from the injuries and her body was swollen. On Wednesday, Juan took her back to the hospital where they examined her again and said she had sustained internal injuries.
“They prescribed medication and there was no change. On Thursday early in the morning, Juan noticed that Anne was worse and took her to hospital. her body was starting to get cold and moments later she was pronounced dead.”
Mrs Ziyambi said they had decided to open a murder case in South Africa and Juan was already working with the police.
“Juan went to Germiston police station in South Africa yesterday where they recorded his statement and he was writing an affidavit, after we have decided to open a murder case,” she said.
“According to the police, investigations are underway and they said have taken the matter to a higher police station. I can’t remember the name.”
Mrs Ziyambi said they were working with Nyaradzo Funeral Service to repatriate the body to Zimbabwe, and hoped that paperwork will be completed by Friday.
“We are hoping that after two to three days the paperwork will be done and her body will be in Zimbabwe for burial as planned. We will bury her at Zororo Memorial Park cemetery.”
Mrs Ziyambi thanked the Government for granting Anne a State-assisted funeral.
Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Deputy Minister Tino Machakaire, Zanu PF acting deputy secretary for the Youth League Cde Tendai Chirau, Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Seke-Chikomba Cde Tatenda Mavetera, Zanu PF Harare Province youth chairman Cde Emmanuel Mahachi and National Arts Council director Mr Nicholas Moyo visited the Nhira residence in Manyame Park, Chitungwiza, yesterday.
Deputy Minister Machakaire, who delivered news of the State-assisted funeral to the family, said the death of Anne was a sad loss for the arts fraternity.
“We are here because of Anne’s good work. She was a great actress and it is so unfortunate that sad news have been following the arts industry. Recently we had buried another pillar of strength in the music industry, Soul Jah Love, and barely a month later, we have lost an actress, Anne.
“I am happy with how the Government has responded fast after the request. We saw it fit for her to be given the State-assisted funeral as she played a major role in the arts sector. I immediately went straight to the President and thanked him.”
Deputy Minister Machakaire said the family would get financial assistance for funeral.
Cde Chirau described Anne as a strong and bold person who stood by her word.
“We have lost a talent, household name in the television and film industry. I urge other artistes to learn from the legacy left by Anne. She promoted good values. She died a painful death,” said Cde Chirau.

MDC ALLIANCE NAMIBIA APPLAUDS ARTUZ’S VARLOUR, METTLE AND NERVE TO DECLARE TEACHERS’ INCAPACITATION DESPITE THREATS OF ABDUCTIONS, TORTURE AND ARBITRARY ARRESTS.
17 MARCH 2021
Mdc Alliance Namibia concurs with the vibrant Amalgamated Rural Teachers’Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) on the need for all poor teachers, all progressive citizens in the Mdc Alliance, all parents and parents to be, all comrades and friends to converge so that they can fight collectively against slave wages on the 22 March 2021. It is now imperative for the enslaved teachers to pent up their outrage demanding conducive working and living conditions as well as a better living wage that can assist them to send their children to school. We are in solidarity with Artuz since their push for #SafeSchoolsCampaign alongside #SaveOurEducationZW is a legitimate and constitutional struggle worth offering solidarity.
Moreover, teachers in Zimbabwe should actively resist threats of abductions, torture, arbitrary arrests, salary cessation, suspensions and gear up to confront those who are eating on behalf of vulnerable educators who are languishing in abject poverty. Our underpaid teachers don’t deserve these unsalted peanuts they getting from this insensitive and corrupt government which is not shaken by the shoddy livelihoods displayed by our diligent workers in the education sector. It is quite pathetic that the state has unceremoniously announced the opening of schools again without addressing the incapacitation of our teachers. Despite incapacitation, the reckless Zanupf government did not undertake thorough consultations with stakeholders concerning how it is going to fight the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
We are cobra-headed that this inhuman and politically bankrupt Harare regime is on a rampant operation to dissipate the limbing education system by both exposing helpless learners and the poorly remunerated hardworking teachers to the catastrophic Corona Virus. What mesmerises and hypnotizes Mdc Alliance Namibia is that when our defenceless and poverty-stricken teachers fall victim to the pandemic , their peanuts cannot afford a one day bed in the elite Covid-19 hospitals. The struggle for better salaries is a compulsory struggle for all.
Furthermore, as a district, we are in solidarity with all progressive teachers unions which are sensitive to the plight of the suffering profession. We salute ARTUZ’S leadership for declaring incapacitation as it does not make any sense for our teachers to continue working for looters in the Zanupf government. Our anticipation is to see a collective fight, unions mobilising for district , provincial and national labour forums with concerned parents , and communities to build consensus on the measures and tactics on how to liberate the education fraternity which had subsidised the corrupt and greedy government for decades. All Zimbabweans in the country and in the diaspora should be ready to actively participate in a genuine dialogue aimed at upgrading the meagre salaries received by our mothers, fathers , brothers, sisters and friends.
We absolutely condemn the futile attempt to abduct the firebrand Secretary General Cde Robson Chere who served the Ministry with the incapacitation letter exposing the Union’s determination to be restored to October 2018 salaries of US$540 monthly. The ruthless state has grown extremely desperate as Amalgamated Rural Teachers’Union of Zimbabwe, Artuz is planning on a historical and inclusive protest on the 22 March under the theme #SaveOurEducationZW. Mdc Alliance Namibia remains infuriated that Zanupf-sponsored state agents continue to invade and harass Artuz members countrywide. We would like to warn all overambitious Border Gezi-trained Heads together with freak teachers to bear with incapacitated teachers who are scratching their heads for a single nutritious meal per day.
Moreso, the struggle for a living wage is just , legitimate, constitutional and compulsory since it has become ridiculous for well-furnished teachers to receive less than what Zupco conductors, the police and army are getting given the period of study they undergo to attain various Diplomas and Degrees. Mdc Alliance Namibia lauds the national Gender Secretary cde Moreblessing Nyambara for her boldness and preparedness to attend to the multiple legal and security challenges confronting their constituencies especially after successfully declaring incapacitation coupled by a massive protest on the 22nd of March 2021.
To wind it up, like the organic and pragmatic leadership of Artuz, all labour unions inside and outside the teaching profession, parents , political parties and comrades and friends must converge to resist slave wages for our patriotic teachers.

The long-awaited return of the local league is upon us after government approved the resumption of all sporting disciplines.
Football in the country has been frozen by the Covid-19 crisis since March last year and efforts to have it back continuously hit a brick wall as it was categorized as a high risk sport by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).
The commission did however indicate last week that high risk disciplines will be allowed to resume, a position which has now been confirmed by government spokesperson Nick Mangwana.

Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance leader, President Nelson Chamisa has said his call for unity is not a crime.
Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration is in panic mode following President Chamisa’s Agenda 2021 Address last week.
The panicky regime accused President Chamisa of inciting social unrest.
Commenting on the regime’s threats to arrest President Chamisa, MDC Alliance Youth Assembly national spokesperson, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma said:
“The call for unity is not a crime. Great nations thrive on the pillars of unity as President Chamisa said.”
Last week President Chamisa said: “Let me set the record straight, I am not beating drums of war. I am just calling for unity- that’s all.All great nations thrive on unity- everyone wants unity.”

7 Common Nutrient Deficiencies: Know the Signs The hidden cause of common symptoms such as fatigue and muscle aches could be a nutrient deficiency.
By Elizabeth Shimer Bowers and Moira Lawler Medically Reviewed by Lynn Grieger, RDN, CDCES Last Updated: March 9, 2021 Medically Reviewed
You may think nutrient deficiencies are a thing of the past, experienced only by sailors on long sea voyages. But even today, it’s possible to lack some of the essential nutrients your body needs to function optimally.
“Nutrient deficiencies alter bodily functions and processes at the most basic cellular level,” says Tricia L. Psota, PhD, RDN, a lecturer in the exercise and nutrition sciences department at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health in Washington, DC. “These processes include water balance, enzyme function, nerve signaling, digestion, and metabolism. Resolving these deficiencies is important for optimal growth, development, and function.”
Nutrient deficiencies can also lead to diseases. “For example, calcium and vitamin D deficiencies can cause osteopenia or osteoporosis, two conditions marked by brittle bones,” says Kate Patton, RD, a dietitian at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. “And inadequate iron can cause anemia, which zaps your energy.”
Telltale symptoms are usually the first clue that you are low in one or more important vitamins or minerals, says Patton. Here’s how to recognize seven common nutrient deficiencies.
Calcium: Numb, Tingling Fingers and Abnormal Heart Rhythm Calcium is important for maintaining strong bones and controlling muscle and nerve function, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Signs of severely low calcium include numb, tingling fingers and abnormal heart rhythms, says the Cleveland Clinic. That said, there are no short-term, obvious symptoms of calcium deficiency.
Most adults need 1,000 milligrams (mg) of calcium each day, though women over 50 and men over 70 need 1,200 mg, per the Mayo Clinic. Patton says you’ll likely get enough from at least three servings of milk or yogurt a day. Cheese is another good source of calcium, but if you’re not big on dairy, you can find this nutrient in calcium-fortified orange juice or breakfast cereal (check the nutrition facts label of the food to see if calcium has been added), and dark leafy greens like kale and broccoli, according to the NIH.
MOST HELPFUL Could You Be Vitamin D–ficient? The 7 Best Bone-Building Foods Study: Nutrients From Diet Better Than Supplements
Vitamin D: Fatigue, Bone Pain, Mood Shifts, and More This vitamin is another that’s crucial for bone health and may also prevent some cancers, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency can be vague — fatigue, bone pain, mood changes, and muscle aches or weakness may set in.
“If it goes on long term, a vitamin D deficiency can lead to softening of the bones,” Psota says. Long-lasting deficiency also may be linked with cancers and autoimmune diseases, says Michelle Zive, an NASM-certified nutrition coach based in San Diego.
According to the NIH, most adults need 15 micrograms (mcg) of vitamin D each day, and adults older than 70 need 20 mcg. Patton suggests having three servings of fortified milk or yogurt daily and eating fatty fish, such as salmon or tuna, twice a week, as these are foods that contain vitamin D; spend some time outside in the sunshine every day, too, as this is a great source of the nutrient. Ten to 30 minutes a few times a week of direct sunlight exposure should help, Zive says.
Potassium: Muscle Weakness, Constipation, Irregular Heart Rhythm, and More Potassium helps your heart, nerves, and muscles work properly and also delivers nutrients to cells while removing waste, according to MedlinePlus. Plus, it’s a useful nutrient that helps offset sodium’s negative impact on your blood pressure: “It’s important in maintaining a healthy blood pressure,” Zive says.
You could become low in potassium in the short term because of diarrhea or vomiting; excessive sweating; antibiotics, laxatives, or diuretics; excessive alcohol consumption; or because of a chronic condition such as kidney disease, per the Mayo Clinic. Symptoms of a deficiency include muscle weakness, twitches, or cramps; constipation; tingling and numbness; and an abnormal heart rhythm or palpitations, says MedlinePlus.
For natural potassium sources, try bananas, milk, acorn squash, lentils, and kidney beans and other legumes. Adult men need 3,400 mg each day, and women need 2,600 mg, according to the NIH.
Iron: Fatigue, Shortness of Breath, Cold Hands and Feet, Brittle Nails, and More Iron is necessary to produce red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body, according to the University of California in San Francisco. When iron levels get too low, there may be a deficiency in red blood cells, resulting in a condition called anemia. Some groups at increased risk of iron deficiency include menstruating women, growing individuals (such as children and pregnant women), and those following a vegan or vegetarian diet, Zive says.
Anemia can leave you with symptoms including weakness and fatigue, shortness of breath, a fast heartbeat, pale skin, headache, cold hands and feet, a sore or swollen tongue, brittle nails, and cravings for strange things like dirt, according to the Mayo Clinic. The symptoms may be so mild at first that you don’t notice something’s wrong, but as iron stores become more depleted, they will become more intense.
To boost iron levels, Patton recommends eating iron-fortified cereal, beef, oysters, beans (especially lima, navy, and kidney beans), lentils, and spinach. Adult men and women over 50 need 8 mg per day, and adult women younger than 50 need 18 mg each day, according to the NIH.
Vitamin B12: Numbness, Fatigue, Swollen Tongue, and More Vitamin B12 aids the production of red blood cells and DNA, and also improves neurotransmitter function, according to the NIH. Vegetarians and vegans may be at particular risk for vitamin B12 deficiency because plants don’t make the nutrient, and people who’ve had weight loss surgery may also lack B12 because the procedure makes it difficult for the body to extract the nutrient from food, according to Harvard Health Publishing.
Symptoms of severe B12 deficiency include numbness in the legs, hands, or feet; problems with walking and balance; anemia; fatigue; weakness; a swollen, inflamed tongue; memory loss and difficulty thinking, per Harvard Health Publishing. These symptoms can come on quickly or gradually, and since there’s such a wide range in symptoms, you may not notice them for a while.
Adults need 2.4 mcg of B12 per day, according to the NIH. It’s most commonly found in animal products, and Patton recommends fish, chicken, milk, and yogurt to boost your B12 levels. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, Zive suggests opting for foods fortified with B12, such as plant-based milk and breakfast cereals. You can also find B12 in most multivitamins, according to the NIH, but if you’re at risk of being deficient, you can take a supplement specifically containing B12.

The late former President Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao has responded to social media claims that his uncle was of Malawian origin saying the name Matibiri was a nickname given to his father due to his Ndebele mannerism.
Posting on Twitter in response to Promise Mkwananzi who said Zimbabwe has been ruled by a Malawian and a Zambian, Zhuwao explained in detail how the name Matibiri came to be.
1/A lie that Robert Gabriel Mugabe is of Malawian origin is deliberately spread by distorting the name Matibhiri RGM’s father Gabriel Mugabe was brought up by his uncle Matibhiri; young brother to Chatunga Karigamombe who died leaving a young family
2/Robert Gabriel Mugabe was born the 3rd son and child of Gabriel Mugabe and Bona Mugabe nee Shonhiwa shown in this picture Gabriel Mugabe was a Gushungo of the Chidziva chieftaincy under Mambo Zvimba Mbuya Bona was a MaGumbo who was born in Gutu but having origins in Musana
3/Gabriel Mugabe was the son of Chatunga borne by Karigamombe of the Chidziva branch of the Gushungo Clan Young Constatine Karigamombe, one of Karigamombe’s sons and younger brother to Chatunga, was abducted by Ndebele raiders from Karigamombe’s Zvimba home in the 19th century
4/Constatine Karigamombe was made a slave & assistant to one of King Lobengula’s generals. During his enslavement, he assimilated the Ndebele language, culture and mannerisms He was so trusted that he eventually managed to escape and make his way back to his family in Zvimba
5/Having been abducted and enslaved by the Ndebele as a young boy, Constantine Karigamombe had Ndebele mannerism that his Karigamombe family gave him the nickname Matibhiri The Ndebele enslavement nickname is used by tribal politicians to distort reality
6/Chatunga Karigamombe, who was the biological father of Gabriel Mugabe, died relatively young with a young family Chatunga’s younger brother Constantine “Matibhiri” Karigamombe inherited Chatunga’s young widow & family. Gabriel Mugabe was brought up by his uncle Matibhiri
7/The only links Robert Gabriel Mugabe has with anyone of Malawian origin is through us his nephews. It came about after his sister, my mother, married my father who came from Malawi via Mozambique I’m proudly of Malawian stock but the Mugabes are definitely not from Malawi
By A Correspondent- Teachers’ unions and State Universities workers unions have given the government notice of their intention to strike over salaries which they want to be restored to where they were in 2018 when they were paid about USD540.
Their notice comes when the government has approved a 200% hike in university fees, which will result in students at State universities forking out between ZW$25 000 and ZW$40 000 per semester, up from ZW$9 000.
Salary negotiations between workers and the government commenced last week but there was an impasse after workers rejected the proposal which the government had tabled.
In a letter to the government, Alois Muzvuwe and Readyforward Dube, the ZISUUA and ZUAWU representatives said:
This is a 14-day notice of intention to embark on a strike by the Zimbabwe Universities and Allied Workers Union (ZUAWU) and the Zimbabwe State Universities Union of Academics (ZISUUA), hereby referred to as the Zimbabwe State Universities Joint Council, on behalf of all State universities’ workers.
The employees demand that the employer makes urgent steps to attain the regional level salary scales as per the agreements of 2010.
The universities employees’ notice comes after the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) released a statement yesterday inviting citizens to join them in their nationwide strike scheduled for March 22 dubbed #SaveOurEducationZw.Artuz accuses the government of ignoring its “detailed Education in Crisis Report” which cited “urgent issues that need to be attended to and long-term structural deficiencies which have to be resolved.”Schools reopened Monday with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education saying there was a high teacher and learner turnout compared to that of last year.
A Zimbabwean scholar Dr Justice Mavedzenge has shared what he said are key points why people in the ruling ZANU PF should not support the Zimbabwe Patriot Bill saying the same law is likely to be used against them when they fall out of favor with the authorities.
In a thread posted on Twitter, Dr Mavedzenge said once they fall out of favour, they will not be able to speak against the abuse of state institutions against them.
My colleagues including Dr @KikaMusa have already written about why this Bill is not a good idea in its current form. Therefore, no need for me to repeat the same. But let me share a view on why YOU & your colleagues in ZANU should NOT support this Bill in its current form:
This law will certainly be used against you & your colleagues in the not so distant future, when you fall out of favour with the authorities. You will not be able to speak out against their abuse of institutions against you, as that would be construed as undermining Zimbabwe.
People from across parties should worry about this bill, including the President @edmnangagwa
So, yes today the Bill may be targeted at @nelsonchamisa , @BitiTendai & their colleagues, but this law will be used to put YOU & your colleagues in jail WHEN you fall out of favour with the bosses/chefs as you call them in ZANU
Cabinet on Tuesday 16 March authorised the resumption of sports codes in the medium and high-risk categories. The development was confirmed by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) in a letter to stakeholders. We present the letter below.
The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) wishes to advise the public that Cabinet has, today this 16th March, 2021, authorized the resumption of sport codes previously designated as “medium and high-risk”. The Attorney General’s Office is working on the Statutory Instrument to give effect to the decision of Cabinet.
The actual resumption of these sport activities is subject to the relevant National Sport Associations (NSA’s) being notified in writing by the Sports and Recreation Commission that they have satisfied the set criteria for resumption.
The medium and high-risk sport codes shall resume only after they have demonstrated their ability to meet the set Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and protocols for the containment of COVID-19 which were communicated on Monday, 15th March. To the extent that they have not already done so, the NSA’s and individual gyms are urged to confirm the conditions set out in that communication.
Additionally, Sport facilities, including sports clubs, with onsite restaurants, can continue to provide take-away services and may now also serve sit-in customers at 50% seating capacity.
The SRC will on Thursday, or as soon as the statutory instrument has been gazetted, publish those former medium and high-risk sports that can resume activity.

Incarcerated trio of Joana Mamombe, Cecelia Chimbiri and Takudzwa Ngadziore are back at the High Court for their bail appeal following their arrest on charges of partaking or convening a gathering during the national lockdown period.
The trio were denied bail by Harare Magistrate Vongai Guwuriro and have been languishing in remand prison with the High Court their hope for freedom.
Mamombe, Chimbiri and Ngadziore were arrested after addressing a press conference outside the Harare Magistrates Court demanding the release of MDC Alliance activist Makomborero Haruzivishe.
Many other students from the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) were arrested and released on bail.
Former Sheffield Wednesday starlet Cecil Nyoni has opened up on his past lifestyle of gambling addiction, alcohol and substance abuse.
Speaking to UK publication, The Star, the Zimbabwe-born footballer spoke about the mistakes he has made in life while looking forward to what he hopes will be a brighter future.
Nyoni (27), who, after leaving Sheffield signed for Nottingham Forest before dropping into the non-league scene, was at one point kidnapped, taken to a desolate graveyard and beaten every 20 minutes after he accrued a £600 debt for cocaine. He told The Star:
I knew every drug dealer in Sheffield. They all knew I’d been at Wednesday and thought I had loads of money.
They’d let me take drugs off them and thought I could pay them with my football money, but the fact was I’d gambled all my money away.
I couldn’t afford it. I had been scared to answer the phone and it came to the point he thought I was taking the piss out of him.
All the people I thought were my mates that I had been partying with, doing cocaine with, they didn’t come to help me.
They were talking about stabbing me, where they were going to bury my body at Snake Pass. I’ve never been so scared in my life.
Nyoni said it was her mother who saved her from certain death. Speaking just weeks after his release from a South Yorkshire mental health facility, Nyoni said he was looking forward to what he hopes will be a brighter future.
Vaccination will guarantee achieving vision 2030” said Mnangagwa – it’s idiotic “Kurotomoka!”
By Nomusa Garikai- “The National covid-19 Vaccination Programme will further guarantee a Zimbabwe that continues on its course to achieve Vision 2030. We are determined to emerge out of this pandemic with greater capability to play a more effective role towards peace, harmony and prosperity within the comity of nations,” said President Mnangagwa after receiving the second batch of Sinopharm vaccines.
“My administration is confident that this vaccination intervention will greatly contribute to our country’s realisation of herd immunity. We are making steady progress in the fight against the pandemic and in the on-going National COVID-19 Vaccination Roll-out Programme.”
Zanu PF achieving vision 2030 is not just wishful thinking, it is idiotic!
Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is open for business!” mantra has failed to attract the much hoped for investors because everyone could see the country was still a pariah state ruled by corrupt and incompetent thugs. If anyone still doubted the country had not change since the November 2017 military coup all doubt evaporated when Zanu PF blatantly rigged the July 2018 elections.
By the end of 2019 it was clear the Zimbabwe economy was still in serious trouble. The corona virus outbreak has made the bad economic situation even worse.
A November 2019 World Bank report said 34% of Zimbabwe’s population was living in extreme poverty; i.e. they could not afford one decent meal a day let alone other basic necessities such as education for the children and health care.
The economic disruption caused by the corona virus in the last year alone must have pushed the number living in extreme poverty to 40%. The country has been slow in procuring the corona virus vaccine and will be very luck to get enough vaccines for 10 million by June 2022. By then the number of Zimbabweans living in extreme poverty will be 50% plus!
The country’s education and health care services have all but collapsed. Decades of under funding had taken their toll and the corona virus delivered the coup de grace.
NRZ has 10 out of 67 working locomotives. How the mighty have fallen! NRZ had over 50 electric locos plus four times as many diesel ones in the 1980s! Many other big companies are in similar rot and decay.
Zimbabwe’s economy shrink by a staggering 50% in the period 2000 to 2008 under the double whammy of collapsing agricultural sector and the regime’s money printing crazy that saw inflation rate soar to 500 billion percent.
Vision 2030 is about Zimbabwe attaining middle income status. To achieve that Zimbabwe’s economy will have to grow by 25% plus every year! An impossible feat considering this will be happening in a country with very poor infrastructure, a poorly educated and sickly labour force governed by corrupt and incompetent leaders!
Even is there was no corona virus pandemic Zimbabwe was never going to achieve 5% economic recovery year on year let alone the 25%. As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state the country has no chance of any meaningful economic recovery.
Zanu PF has destroyed the middle income economy it inherited in 1980. It is easier to destroy than to create. Achieve vision 2030! In your dreams, Mr Mnangagwa. “Kurotomoka!” as one would say in Shona.
Really im sitting here with mixed motions,,,seeing the vaccines arrived with an airline that is not ours. I dreamt of an Air Namibia aircraft touching down on our airport, but now a struggling country come to assist us.

By Patrick Guramatunhu- ZESA Holdings executive board chairperson Sydney Gata yesterday struggled for answers after he was cornered by the Tendai Biti led Public Accounts Committee to explain how the parastatal secured a US$35 million loan from the Afreximbank without parliamentary approval,” reported News Day.
“Besides the opaque US$35m loan deal, the committee also questioned the awarding of the Gwanda solar project to Wicknell Chivayo, PME transformer deal as well as Sakunda Holdings’ Dema Power project.”
This is just a bit of theatrical drama and no one enjoys it more than the opposition MPs like Tendai Biti, Themba Mliswa, Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga, etc.; they consider it as proof they are doing a splendid job as oppositions MPs. They are positioning themselves ahead of the opposition park hunting for the few gravy train seats Zanu PF has been giving away since the 2013 elections.
Zanu PF got itself into trouble with SADC and AU for blatantly cheating and using wanton violence in the 2008 elections. The party was forced to go into the 2008 to 2013 GNU whose primary purpose was to implement a raft of democratic reforms to restore the individual freedoms and rights including reforms to ensure future elections were free, fair and credible.
The task of implementing the reforms fall to Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends. Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies hated having to share power with the MDC but what they dreaded the most was having the reforms implemented and strip away the party’s carte blanche dictatorial powers that had kept the party in power ever since the country’s independence in 1980.
As President in the GNU, Mugabe saw to it that MDC leaders were pampered and denied nothing the gravy train had to offer. They were given ministerial limos, very generous salaries and allowances, a US$4 million mansion for Tsvangirai, etc., etc. With their snouts in the feeding trough, the MDC leaders forgot about the reforms and deaf to anyone reminding them of the need to implement reforms.
Indeed, the odd occasion the MDC leaders said anything during the GNU, it was to take turns in singing the praises of Robert Mugabe. Tendai Biti described Mugabe as “unflappable father of the nation and fountain of all wisdom”! Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga was in such awe she was “speechless”.
MDC leaders failed to implement even one democratic reform in five years of the GNU. Not one! And hence the reason the nation is still stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship.
Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies realised during the GNU that they can keep their dictatorial powers and rig elections and will avoid the GNU sin-bin as long as the party got the opposition to participate in elections. And so, ever since the 2013 elections, the party has offered a few gravy train seats plus a share of the annual Political Party Finance Act pay out as bait. Bait the likes of Tendai Biti, Nelson Chamisa and everyone in the MDC plus many, many others in the opposition camp have found irresistible.
Of course, everyone in the opposition camp participating in these flawed and illegal elections, ZEC has even failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll, KNEW Zanu PF was rigging the elections and that by participating they are giving legitimacy to the regime.
Zanu PF’s vote rigging powers are limitless, having no verified voters’ roll alone offers an infinite ways one can rig the vote; and so the party is guaranteed to win 2/3 or so majority plus the presidency. With it clear majority Zanu PF is enjoying absolute power and riding roughshod over the people, denying them their freedoms and rights, much as the party had done before the 2008 GNU.
Tendai Biti and others in the opposition leaders, lucky enough to have won the few gravy train seats would want the nation to believe their presence in parliament is making a world of difference to the way Zimbabwe is governed. They are justifying why they participated in the July 2018 elections and why they must participate in the 2023 elections even though Zanu PF will rig those elections too!
“I’m disappointed with the management of Zesa for failing to appear before this committee on a matter which they knew they had to answer on specific matters, especially the matter of the 2019 forensic audit report,” said Tendai Biti.
“We express disappointment that Zesa did not come armed with the relevant personnel that was present at that time to help answer the committee’s specific questions.”
Dr Sydney Gata was appointed the first GM of ZESA soon after its formation in the late 1980s for no other reason other than that he was Robert Mugabe’s brother-in-law. Gata had to divorce his wife to marry Mugabe’s sister and the appointment was delayed when he was suspected of dragging his feet over the divorce.
Gata’s tenure as ZESA’s GM was marked by gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and abuse of office. By the time Gata finally left ZESA, the parastatal was in a real mess. It beggars belief that Gata was ever allowed back to work for ZESA. He considers himself a part of the Zanu PF ruling elite and hence the reason he is back at ZESA – this is a political appointment and merit has nothing to do with it!
Other than express his “disappointment” with the criminal waste of human and material resources at ZESA, there is very little else Tendai Biti and his parliamentary committee can do about it. Tendai Biti is nothing but a Chihuahua barking at a marauding head of elephants, they will not interrupt their feeding because they fear of being eaten alive by the Chihuahua!
Tendai Biti and the winners of the few gravy train seats would want the nation to believe they will ultimately prevail and end the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship, the Chihuahuas will drive away the elephants. The nation was foolish to believe this nonsense in 2013 and again in 2018. Time will tell if the nation will be hoodwinked once again and be dragged into yet another utterly meaningless elections process on the pretext the opposition will wig the rigged elections and finally end the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship!
Chirawu-Mugomba, in an extempore judgment, ruled that once a person supported another party, this automatically translated to “self-expulsion” from the party.
Speaking to the Daily News on Monday, PDP lawyer Simon Simango said:
The judge delivered an extempore judgment and said that according to the PDP constitution, clause 6:4 if a member joins or supports another political party, that individual automatically ceases to belong to PDP.
So, here we are talking about the likes of Harare East MP, Biti, who is the current vice president of the MDC Alliance.
By operation of that clause, he automatically expelled himself from the PDP. This judgment sets the pace for recall of MPs who had been seconded to represent the MDC Alliance.
Harare mayor, Jacob Mafume, who was in the PDP faction that included Biti among other legislators and councillors, said yesterday that they had since appealed against the High Court ruling at the Supreme Court.
Biti and others joined the coalition under Tsvangirai, who was succeeded by Nelson Chamisa when he died a few months before the elections.
Matibenga and her faction joined hands with the Joice Mujuru-led People’s Rainbow Coalition (PRC) ahead of the 2018 general elections
The education sector is set to suffer another heavy blow after teachers and State university employees gave notice yesterday to embark on a nationwide industrial action starting Monday to press for better working conditions.
The day coincides with the resumption of classes for non-examination pupils after examination classes started their lessons on Monday this week.
State university employees also gave a 14-day notice to the Public Service ministry announcing their intention to embark on a strike in protest over low wages.
Their notice came at a time government has approved a 200% hike in university fees, which will result in students at State universities forking out between $25 000 and $40 000 per semester, up from $9 000.
“This is a 14-day notice of intention to embark on a strike by the Zimbabwe Universities and Allied Workers Union (ZUAWU) and the Zimbabwe State Universities Union of Academics (ZISUUA), hereby referred to as the Zimbabwe State Universities Joint Council, on behalf of all State universities’ workers.
“The employees demand that the employer makes urgent steps to attain the regional level salary scales as per the agreements of 2010,” read the letter by Alois Muzvuwe and Readyforward Dube, the ZISUUA and ZUAWU representatives.
The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) released a statement yesterday inviting citizens to join them on the streets on March 22 in nationwide protests dubbed #SaveOurEducationZw.
The rural teachers threatened that the protests would continue until their grievances were addressed.
“In September 2020, we produced a detailed Education in Crisis Report citing both urgent issues that need to be attended to and long-term structural deficiencies which have to be resolved. We further made recommendations to the government, some of which do not need any financial investment. The report was ignored by the government, but schools opening was aborted because of the challenges we had raised,” the Artuz statement read.
They accused government of ignoring the recommendations by the Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Unions (Fozeu), which includes teachers’ unions, and a position paper by Artuz on safe and effective reopening of schools.
Artuz, in its notice for nationwide protests, cited the poor 2020 Grade 7 pass rate, which dropped by 9% compared to the 2019 results, saying if government fails to resuscitate the ailing education sector, pass rates would continue on a downward spiral.
“The number of teenage pregnancies is rising, with a recent report revealing that 5 000 teenagers were impregnated in a month. This revelation reminds us that the longer learners stay at home, the more difficult it is for them to return to schools. It is, therefore, imperative for us to force the government to urgently resolve the education crisis.
“Government should deal with the issue of teacher preparedness to teach. Teachers are currently incapacitated because of underpayment. The unilateral variation of teacher contracts by the government in 2018 led to a systematic wage theft, which left teachers wallowing in poverty,” read the Artuz notice.
The rural teachers also said government needed to increase the Basic Education Assistance Module (Beam) fees support as more vulnerable learners were traumatised, adding that a counselling regime had to be operationalised in schools to deal with the trauma of the lockdowns.
Moses Mhike, a team leader representing government in the National Joint Negotiating Commission (NJNC), said the Public Service Commission (PSC) had not yet received communication from teachers’ unions on the proposed nationwide protests.
“We have not received anything from them, we are just getting to know of it from the Press,” Mhike said.
Primary and Secondary Education ministry spokesperson Taungana Ndoro said: “Yes, I saw something from the 386-member union called Artuz. The ministry continues to urge all well-meaning teachers to report for duty on time and with commitment as government seeks to address their grievances.”
Last week, government reached a deadlock with civil servants after the workers rejected a “paltry” 25% salary increment during an NJNC meeting.
Meanwhile, disgruntled teachers in Bulawayo have formed another teachers’ union called Educators Union of Zimbabwe (EUZ) after accusing other unions of deviating from their mandate.
EUZ interim secretary-general Justin Murema told NewsDay that some teachers’ unions had become an extension of the employer, while others were meddling in opposition party politics, hence the need for an apolitical teachers’ representative body.
Murema said like other unions, his membership wanted the restoration of their salaries to 2018 levels which were in United States dollars and starting from US$520 to US$550.
“We are here to offer the missing services from those offered by other unions by bringing all teachers’ issues under one umbrella for a fruitful discussion with the employer. Around 70 000 out of 130 000 teachers in the country are not in any union membership and EUZ seeks to recruit more of these unrepresented teachers,” Murema said.
Police in Bulawayo have impounded 120 pirate taxis and rounded up 30 touts in a two-day blitz under “Operation no to pirate kombis, no to mshikashika.”
The operation which involves the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) and Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) came into effect on Monday. By 3pm yesterday kombis, buses, Honda Fit and private cars had been netted.
Police have said vehicle owners who allow their cars to be used to illegally carry passengers, would be arrested.
Last Friday, pirate kombi drivers ganged up with rogue elements and attacked traffic police officers before smashing the rear windscreen of a police car and stealing a car battery which was in the boot.
On Monday the police mounted roadblocks on all roads leading to the city centre in a crackdown on pirate taxis that left commuters stranded. Scores of commuters had to walk more than two kilometres to get to the city centre as pirate taxis dropped them off just before the roadblocks.
Government has said that the Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (Zupco) is the country’s sole public transporter, thereby outlawing private players.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube, speaking at a Press conference at Ross Camp in Bulawayo yesterday said the operation seeks to clamp down on illegal vehicles which have taken advantage of the lockdown relaxation to return to the roads.
“This operation which started yesterday has seen a total 120 vehicles, kombis, buses, and private cars being impounded. A total of 30 touts were detained and will appear in court soon.

By Special Correspondent | Emmerson Mnangagwa has unleashed a hoarde of para-military ferrets around the country, in a bid to quell what he suspects is looming civil unrest, ZimEye reports.
The development is a reaction to the country’s most popular leader, Nelson Chamisa’s nation address last week. Mnangagwa’s party ZANU PF has accused Chamisa of wanting to set up pockets if resistance around the country.
In a statement, the party’s secretariat said while the revolutionary party has the capacity to thwart acts of sabotage and treason that are being mulled by the opposition, it would leave the police to do their work in protecting peace.
He said:
“The Revolutionary Party Zanu-PF has noted with contempt, the MDC-A veiled threat to unseat a constitutionally elected Government following pronouncements by Mr Nelson Chamisa during his hollow address of 09 March 2021, dubbed, Agenda 2021. In his long monologue, Mr Chamisa did not only fail to demonstrate leadership but failed to instil hope in his fractured party, instead rumbling about seeking to establish pockets of resistance across the country similar to the ill-fated 31 July 2020 attempted violent demonstrations, whose sole attempt was to destabilise the country.
“While Zanu-PF has the capacity to thwart such machinations, as a law abiding organisation, we rest the matter with the law enforcement agents,” added Khaya Moyo.
In the latest developments, a Joint Operations Command meeting has been held and teams sent all over the country to target a select number of known political activists. Sources told zimeye.com, some will be arrested while others will be made to disappear.

The prisons have now been taken over by satanism. The guards were very much aware of what would happen in the way they responded when they where called and heard shouts of thsir calling. They delaid and became unconcerned and up to now the National parks did not turn up.
By Nomusa Garikai | “The National covid-19 Vaccination Programme will further guarantee a Zimbabwe that continues on its course to achieve Vision 2030.
– SOURCE: zsdemocrats.blogspot.com
Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance has lost a veteran of the struggle for democracy, Forget Hlomani.
Hlomani was a dedicated party cadre who was based in Chipinge, according to former Movement for Democratic Change Change Youth Assembly chairperson, Happymore Chidziva.
Chidziva described Hlomani’s death as a huge blow to the MDC Alliance family.
“I am so saddened by the news that one of my dear friends in struggle from Chipinge South has died Forget Dread Hlomani.
He was a fighter and a true leader in the struggle for democratisation of Zimbabwe.
Forget my dear brother leader rest in power till we meet again kurikuda kwaMwari,” Chidziva wrote on Facebook.
The government has listened to advice by Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala who says the prisons are overflooded.
Cabinet yesterday considered and approved the proposed General Amnesty, which was presented by the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs.
Section 112 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe empowers the President after consultation with Cabinet, to exercise the power of mercy to grant pardon to any person concerned in or convicted of an offence against law.
The proposed general amnesty is targeted at all prisoners who have served at least one third of their sentences, save for those convicted of specified offences such as the following: murder, treason, rape or any sexual offence, car-jacking, robbery, stock theft, and public violence.
There shall be full remission of sentence to be granted to all prisoners who would have served life imprisonment for at least 15 years commutation.
The amnesty will de-congest the prison institution whose population currently stands at 20 407 against the prison’s holding capacity of 17 000.
The overpopulation already poses a health hazard, especially considering the Covid-19 pandemic and the recommended measures to curtail the spread of the disease. -state media/additional reporting

Actress Anne Nhira, who was granted a State-assisted funeral, died a painful death after she was attacked by robbers in South Africa last week while coming from morning prayers in a mountain where she had gone with her brother Juan.
They said she was okay.”
“We have lost a talent, a household name in the television and film industry. I urge other artistes to learn from the legacy left by Anne. She promoted good values. She died a painful death,” said Cde Chirau.
“Crime is everywhere and should be stopped. As young people we must condemn such acts.” -Herald

7 Common Nutrient Deficiencies: Know the Signs The hidden cause of common symptoms such as fatigue and muscle aches could be a nutrient deficiency.
By Elizabeth Shimer Bowers and Moira Lawler Medically Reviewed by Lynn Grieger, RDN, CDCES Last Updated: March 9, 2021 Medically Reviewed
vitamins and minerals If you think you may have a nutrient deficiency, talk to your doctor, who may recommend a supplement.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane says the rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a return to the Spanish capital might be true.
Ronaldo’s future has been the subject of much debate since Juve’s shock round of 16 Champions League exit at the hands of Porto last week.
The Italian giants are being tipped to cash in on the 36-year-old before he becomes a free agent in 2022.
And reports in Spain have suggested the striker is keen on returning to Madrid, where he enjoyed a hugely successful nine years before leaving in 2018 for €100 million.
Speaking to Sky Italia ahead of his team’s Champions League clash with Atalanta on Tuesday, Zidane admitted a comeback a comeback is “possible” for Ronaldo.
“Yes, it may be [true],” the gaffer told Sky Italia, when asked about the rumours linking the player with a return to Real.
“We know Cristiano, we know the person he is and everything he has done here.
“But now he’s a Juventus player and we must respect this.
“Now, let’s see what the future will be. I was lucky enough to coach him and he is very impressive. Right now, he’s helping Juventus.”- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe
WARRIORS coach, Zdravko Logarusic, can now freely go about doing his official duties, after getting his work permit, last week.
The Croatian gaffer, who is preparing his team for the final two 2021 AFCON qualifiers, against Botswana and Zambia later this month, has been without a work permit, since his return from his native country last month.
Loga’s one-year permit expired in January this year.
As a result, the coach has largely been in the background, over the past couple of weeks, but he can now fully concentrate, on the task at hand, after getting clearance, to legally work in this country.
Zimbabwe play Botswana, in the penultimate round of the qualifiers on March 25, before hosting Zambia, in the final group game, at the National Sports Stadium, four days later. “We are all delighted that coach Loga has been issued with his work permit,” said Warriors manager, Wellington Mpandare. “We would like to thank the authorities. He can now start to do his duties, within the confines of the law.”
Loga has been battling to find a solution, after the mass withdrawals, which has hit his camp. All the UK-based players, including Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, have pulled out of the team, because of the Covid-19 protocols, in the European nation.
The France-based duo of Tino Kadewere, and Marshall Munetsi, whose side Olympique Lyon and Stade Reims played out a 1-1 draw at the weekend, are also out of the crunch matches. Talismanic forward, Khama Billiat, has pulled out of the two battles, because of injury. Zimbabwe have never qualified for the Afcon tournament three times in a row.
“We will have to make that happen,” said Loga. “The good thing is we have our destiny firmly in our hands.
“We have to fight like Warriors. It’s still difficult, given what we are facing, but we are optimistic of getting the required results. “Nothing has ever been ideal, in football, and we need to find solutions, if we have problems.
“The ultimate goal is for us to make it for the AFCON tournament. We are facing two very good sides in Botswana and Zambia.
“But, we are where we are at the moment, for a good reason, too. It means we are capable and that should spur us on, as we try to overcome the two hurdles, in front of us. It’s been difficult, football has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic big time.-The Herald
By James Gwati- The government has relaxed lockdown measures which were put on restaurants and allowed them to operate under strict COVID-19 guidelines
The lift on the ban was announced by the Ministry of Information Secretary, Nick Mangwana, Tuesday, through his Twitter account.
“Restaurants are now allowed to open for sit-ins at 50% sitting capacity, under strict adherence to COVID19 Guidelines. Those found breaking the restrictions will be closed immediately,” posted Mangwana.
By James Gwati-Botswana national broadcaster, BTV said it will broadcast the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Zimbabwe and its national soccer team on March 25.
According to the Botswana Daily News, the game which will be played at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown will be broadcast on BTV as well as on Radio Botswana.
The publication also reports that the BFA held a meeting last week on preparations needed, especially concerning Covid-19 and it’s all systems go ahead of the crunch tie.
The Warriors are set to travel to Botswana for the encounter on March 22 before hosting Zambia in Harare on March 29.
The two assignments are a must-win for the Warriors if they harbour hopes of joining Group H leaders and African champions Algeria in the finals set for Cameroon next year.
Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe all have a fair chance of qualifying, with the Warriors second on five points from four games, while the Zebras are third with four points and Chipolopolo anchor the group with three points.

By A Correspondent- The newly appointed Transport Minister, Felix Mhona, has introduced a new method of collecting tollgate fees from the motoring public, in a move which road users view as a government’s fast-track fundraising project.
Mhona told the National Assembly’s Wednesday during a Question and Answer session that they are going to introduce a coupon system to address congestion at tollgates.
The government through the Zimbabwe National Roads Authority, ZINARA, last month increased tollgate fees by more than 100%.
The authority also okayed the use of foreign currency and now demands US$2 from a small vehicle passing through a tollgate.
By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) is said to be working on a new method of collecting tollgate fees from the motoring public.
Transport Minister Felix Mhona, told the National Assembly’s Wednesday during a Question and Answer session that they are going to introduce a coupon system to address congestion at tollgates.
Apart from fast tracking revenue collection at tollgates motorists are spending hours long in queues.
The Foreign Exchange Auction System which was introduced by the Bank on 23 June 2020 has been successful in achieving price stability in the national economy.
RBZ
The success has been achieved through market price discovery of the exchange rate and provision of a dependable foreign exchange market.
Since the inception of the Foreign Exchange Auction System, there has been a significant increase in both the number of bids and the value thereof from just under 100 bids valued at US$11 million at the first auction to the current levels of over 500 bids valued at around US$40 million at both the Main and SME auctions.
The top 100 beneficiaries of the Foreign Exchange Auction System over the past eight months, from 23 June 2020 to 28 February 2021, are listed hereunder for public information.
It is also important to note that the same entities have been the major beneficiaries of the interbank foreign exchange market during the same period.
One of the foreign exchange auction rules requires banks to ensure that applicants have enough local currency in their accounts to finance their bids.
However, it has come to the attention of the Bank that some banks are not paying particular attention to this requirement and have instead been extending overdraft facilities to finance their customers’ bids.
In line with the Bank’s monetary targeting framework designed to control the growth of money supply, funding of bids through overdrafts and advances is discouraged.
Where absolutely necessary, bank lending should be limited to a maximum of 50% of a bid. Under these exceptional circumstances, bidders would be required to have in their accounts a minimum balance equivalent to 50% to cover their bids.
Banks are further reminded to conduct full Know Your Customer (KYC) checks on their clients, and should not be complicit or connive in malpractices with their customers.
The Bank’s Exchange Control Division and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) are continuously monitoring users of foreign exchange in the economy in order to deal with the malpractices.
This exercise has resulted in 12 entities being banned from participating in the foreign exchange auction whilst 62 entities are under the FIU watch list.
The banned entities’ respective bankers have been warned against breach of the foreign exchange auction rules.

Nyathi said over 2500 have been arrested by police for various illegal activities, including dealing in foreign currency, in a move aimed at ridding the country of malcontents.

By A Correspondent- In a bizarre incident that shocked Zaka District, two women who are alleged to be witches reported a colleague to a traditional leader’s court because the colleague is refusing to have her child sacrificed for the group’s supply of human flesh.
The women (names supplied) claimed that they each killed their children and ate the human flesh together with the colleague.
The two complained that the accused was now refusing to have her child killed although it was her turn to supply human flesh to the group.
Chief Clemence Nhema confirmed the case. He said everyone in the district is shocked by this turn of events.
The matter came to light when the witches claimed that they ate the human flesh of a popular tout at Jerera Growth Point who died a week ago—the tout is said to be the son of one of the witches.
The women are from Musavengana Village under Chief Nhema in Zaka.
Chief Mpakwa said they will on Saturday appear before a traditional court.
The complainants have formalised their case with the Village head, Benias Musavengana and the trial will be there this Saturday.
“This is not a rumour, the matter has been brought before Musavengana in whose village the three reside. I have received a letter confirming the matter and they will appear on Saturday, ” said Chief Nhema.
When contacted for comment, Headman Musavengana said he was still in shock since he never thought people of that calibre were in his village. “It shocked me so much that I decided to refer the matter further up to Chief Mpakwa” he added.
The woman whose turn is to have her child killed is allegedly refusing to make the offer saying that the tout who died at Jerera was thin and her child, the one they want killed is fat and bigger.
“It is disgusting for a community to sink to such levels of open witchcraft. I will call the parties involved in the issue and get the full details,” said chief Mpakwa.

Violence, unleashed by ZANU PF, to force Zimbabweans to give it legitimacy, through the ballot box, from as early 2000s has failed dismally.
So did other machinations of ZANU PF, such as lawfare, state capture, a resistance to devolution, conjoining of the three arms of the State, partisan distribution of desperately needed food, among others.
The opposition, thanks to its remarkably resilience, it has trounced all ZANU PF efforts to evolve into a one party state.
Defections by disillusioned opposition officials, attempts to capture and influence urban local services and their subsequent, will be naturally abortive.
They will miscarry on the basis of the fact that, the political apathy that ZANU PF rode at the expense of economic development and growth is now exhausted, hence the desperate attempts stated above.
ZANU PF under Emmerson Mnangagwa has the erroneous assumption that sponsoring defections, cajoling them to jump ship and join ZANU PF will translate to mass exodus of loyal opposition supporters who have suffered the brunt of a repressive and human rights violating security system.
ZANU PF will be disappointed. Those who defect are nothing but career politicians. Men and women who are sellouts to the struggle against tyranny.
They don’t serve the people. The defections only serve to brighten their colors, colors of betrayal.
The people in their respective constituencies, most of them who suffered from Zanu Pf exclusionary arm twisting tactics such as partisan distribution of food, will not suddenly follow the defectors.
Communities are yet to heal from these divisive and coercive machinations, and joining ZANU PF, following the traitors because they, the defectors love money or power the people denied them through Congress is ample testimony.
ZANU PF thinks that Zimbabweans have intelligence of donkeys, as such, a capture of local urban government operations such as water supply and refuse collection will be such an avenue for a landslide victory, come the 2023 elections. Zimbabweans are well aware of the economic mismanagement and rot that had been presided over by ZANU PF. The people know that ZANU PF flaunts their wealth in their faces, meant for them. For instance, Chiwenga’s brazen opulence of having a mansion valued in millions of American dollars, at the same time being a minister of health running a broken health system, without critical drugs, equipment and infrastructure, to the extent of seeking Chinese medical attention is proof that ZANU PF attempts to capture the local government operations are vain and satisfyingly, futile.
A president who gives a permit to colonial Chinese exploit, without recourse or conscience, natural resources of communities in Hwange is an example of ZANU PF insincerity and lack of empathy for the common and no longer unusual or sacred suffering of Zimbabweans under the yoke of Zimbabweans. The same president who gives more than $20000 USD to a foreign country for construction of a school in a foreign country, while neglecting run down and dilapidated rural schools infrastructure, is the president Zimbabweans know, hence their choice in the people centered opposition, their choice that ZANU PF thinks it can circumvent, by capturing the operations of urban councils.
The people know better, the opposition remains unfazed.
Age limits and so called Patriot bills targeting the opposition, seeking genuine change that is pro-people is another bout of ZANU PF plans destined to miscarry spectacularly. For one, there is nothing patriotic about ZANU PF. There is nothing patriotic about a president who hires a private jet while people are dying in large numbers in hospitals owing to lack of crucial equipment. There is nothing patriotic about a president who has a stake in a company that removes people from their ancestral lands for profit not is there anything patriotic about a first family that awards itself a multi-million tender, unprodecurally at that. ZANU PF has no grounds to legitimately bar the opposition from contesting elections it is favored to win, that having said, ZANU PF is the most unpatriotic collective in history of politics.
In conclusion, all of ZANU PF attempts to derail the opposition have hit the amazing brick wall of opposition resilience, supported by an unwavering public, that is no longer largely apathetic, hence the barrage of donkey brained schemes by ZANU PF. The opposition will continue to be the people’s choice of their consent, and the same opposition will remain the sole custodian of popular will and legitimacy.

THE SNAKE THAT SLITHERED INTO HON JOANA MAMOMBE AND YOUTH LEADER CECILIA CHIMBIRI’S CELL AT CHIKURUBI EPITOMISES ZANUPF SATANISM, MDC ALLIANCE NAMIBIA ECHOES.
15 MARCH 2021
In the Christian Tradition, Satan (in the guise of a serpent) instigated the fall of mankind by tricking Eve into breaking God’s command. The serpent was/is a symbol of evil power and chaos from the underworld. In addition, the serpent is a universal and complex epitome of death , destruction , evil or poison. To prove Zanupf Satanists’ undoubted sadist role in planting the snake in the gallant daughters’ hell hole cell, long-mouthed Zanupf’s clueless Presidential Spokesperson George Charamba posted on his twitter handle, “Yanga ichitsvaga jecha rekukandirira!!! Chinja iwe !!!” This wild celebration on the use of satanic weapons to torture and create artificial psychosocial problems must be resisted with equal measure.
Mdc Alliance Namibia is infuriated by the incessant political persecution of its leadership and membership who are not criminals but advocates of socio-economic transformation. Hon Joana Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri, Cde Makomborero Haruzivishe, Takudzwa Ngadziore, Chiriga only to mention the most tortured at the hands of a rogue Harare regime must be released unconditionally since they are mere prisoners of conscience. We condemn the use of snakes to further intimidate and harass patriotic Zimbabweans who are simply demanding freedom of expression and association. How can Zanupf ban by-elections and press conferences when their party and their surrogates are holding rallies willy nilly? We demand an end to command politics where selective application or weaponisation of the law has become a national religion for Zanupf and their surrogates (little boys and girls).
Moreover, we are quite aware that these Zanupf harassers exploit stressful traumas or shocks to break the resolve of our leaders to confront senseless looting and gross misgovernance. We absolutely condemn their monkey tactics of Mind-reading, Total Surveillance, Body-mind control and Dream-manipulation and we are clear and resolute that no kind of torture will neither deter nor break the resolution of our leaders to converge for complete change. Mdc Alliance Namibia is cognisant of the need for solidarity in its various forms since it is a core value in Social Democracy. We shall never tire to soldier on with the national democratic revolution. Zanupf must keep on hallucinating that they will one day decimate the People’s Agenda, Agenda 2021.
Furthermore, as a district that subscribes to the change that delivers, we urge Zanupf- controlled prison officers and security agents to treat political prisoners presuming that they are innocent until proven otherwise and should not be tortured to silence their loud voices scathing stomach politics practised by Zanupf terrorists. We continue to ponder how someone appears to be celebrating the torturing of two patriotic citizens(young women) using a snake, this ridiculous and nonsensical ! Mdc Alliance Namibia urges all Zimbabweans across the globe to peacefully register their outrage demanding the freedom of Hon Joana Mamombe and all incarcerated political prisoners. We are all prisoners! It’s now imperative for us to converge for the change that liberates our people.
In a nutshell, Zanupf Satanists must realise that no weapon of destruction shall aid them to perpetuate poverty on the innocent citizens. Not even a snake shall erase the revolutionary appetite to bring constitutional democracy in Zimbabwe. We are determined to win Zimbabwe for change. As if the abductions, sexual harassment, incessant arbitrary arrests and all forms of torture , Zanupf still thinks that snakes will break the fighting spirit of the gallant democratic fighters. Never in a 1000 years shall that happen, victory is certain with participatory democracy, dangerous freedom, endurance , dedication and commitment to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of the liberation struggle.
