A warrant of arrest has been issued for ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule.
The Hawks confirmed that the warrant is in connection with the R255-million asbestos audit contract in the Free State.
Speaking to eNCA earlier, Magashule said he’s not aware of a warrant of arrest.
“If it happens then it happens but I am not worried at all because I know I have not done anything wrong, as a law-abiding citizen of South Africa,” said Magashule, who is campaigning in Soweto for Wednesday’s by-elections.
Magashule is expected to appear in court on Friday.
What’s in a name? Lucky Chikwanda would perhaps say there is life in his. His name rang true of his fate. He reckons he is lucky to be alive.
His Honda Fit vehicle collided with popular businessman Genius Kadungure’s Rolls Royce on Sunday morning. Kadungure and three of his associates died in that collision. But Lucky emerged almost unscathed, escaping with minor knocks. He is recovering at home after medical treatment.
ZTN tracked Lucky to get his account of the horrific accident. Yet getting him to talk about the accident wasn’t easy.
“My life flashed before my eyes,” Lucky says, recalling the moments leading to the crash. “l don’t even know what saved me because we could have died on the spot.” Still visibly shaken, he went on: “I was with my friend, Artwell; driving at about 60 to 80 kilometres per hour, on our way from Hatcliff.
“Just as we approached the curve after Borrowdale Police Station, l saw a car trying to overtake two others.
“The vehicle encroached into my lane and it was too late for the driver to apply emergency brakes and for me to avoid him because he was speeding. The next thing we collided. His car veered off the road and hit a tree.” In the eyes of some, Lucky was to blame for Genius’ demise. But he maintains his hands are clean.
“I’m just a poor guy and it pains me that people are fabricating stories that l intentionally killed Ginimbi.
“In fact, l could have died in that accident because that car was literally flying. Up to now l don’t even know what saved me.” In all this, Lucky was the lucky one who lived to tell the tale. His friend, Artwell, too, survived unscathed. And whether their survival was down to a name is material for another tale.
Pakistan’s Abdullah Shafique top-scored in the final T20 against Zimbabwe
Leg spinner Usman Qadir grabbed four wickets to guide Pakistan to a 3-0 whitewash of Zimbabwe with an eight-wicket victory in the third Twenty20 in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Qadir — son of the late star spinner Abdul Qadir — finished with 4-13 from four mesmerising overs to restrict Zimbabwe to a paltry 129-9 in 20 overs.
That proved a walk in the park for the home team, which cruised to victory in 15.2 overs losing just two wickets.
Pakistan lost Fakhar Zaman (21) and Haider Ali (27) but debutant Abdullah Shafique top-scored with 41 and saw Pakistan home with Khushdil Shah (36 not out).
This was Pakistan’s 14th win in as many T20 internationals against Zimbabwe, and are now fourth in the international T20 rankings.
Zimbabwe allrounder Elton Chigumbura was accorded a warm farewell by his teammates, but he scored just two runs in his last international match.
Earlier, the visitors, who won the toss and batted, were derailed by Qadir, who recorded the third-best figures by a Pakistani bowler against Zimbabwe in T20s.
Qadir started the slide with the wicket of skipper Chamu Chibhabha (31), before dismissing Wesley Madhevere (nine), Milton Shumba (11) and Elton Chigumbura (two) to finish behind Mohammad Hafeez (4-11 at Harare in 2011) and Imad Wasim (4-13 at Harare in 2015).
The home team won the first match by six wickets and the second by eight.
Chibhabha hit three boundaries and a six in his 28-ball knock, the highest of the innings.
Number eight Donald Tiripano scored a 22-ball 28 to help Zimbabwe cross the 100-run mark.
Pakistani left-arm spinner Imad Wasim finished with 2-27.
The Zimbabwe Football Association’s refusal to endorse Ahmad Ahmad for the second term in office as the CAF president was down to the fact that the local football body is backing Patrice Motsepe.
Ahmad received the support of 46 of the continent’s 54 football associations ahead of the polls at an Elective Extraordinary General Assembly on March 12, 2021, in Morocco.
The endorsements were obtained via the continent’s six councils that include COSAFA, CECAFA, West Africa Football Union, Central Africa and North Africa.
However, Zimbabwe was among the eight countries that refused to back the Malagasy football administrator.
And according to the South African Football Association (SAFA), the Felton-Kamambo-led association, along with Sierra Leone, Botswana and Nigeria, has endorsed Mamelodi Sundowns president Motsepe who announced his candidacy on Monday.
The development highlights another chapter in the frosty relation between Kamambo and COSAFA President Philip Chiyangwa who is the campaign manager for Ahmad’s re-election bid in 2021.-Soccer 24
In-form France-based Warriors midfielder Marshall Munetsi has been ruled out of the AFCON qualifiers double-header against Algeria.
The Stade de Reims man, who has been impressive for his side in the French Ligue 1, will not be travelling to Zimbabwe for the two games as they (Reims) reportedly cited a knock he picked up in the 4-4 stalemate against Lens over the weekend.
Munetsi’s unavailability will be huge blow for coach Zdravko Logarušić, who would have obviously planned to use the gritty midfielder against an attacking Algeria.
Meanwhile, Tino Kadewere and Marvelous Nakamba arrived in the country early this morning and will head straight into camp.-Soccer 24
Warriors skipper Knowledge Musona says they are targeting wins against Algeria and will bring their A-game in both of them.
The 30-year-old arrived in the country yesterday and went straight into camp as Zdravko Logarušić’s charges start plotting the Desert Foxes’ downfall as a group.
A confident Musona, who will lead in the Warriors in their quest to become the first team in over two to defeat the Algerians, said the plan is to try and win both games.
“We are looking forward to the upcoming games against Algeria,” he told The Herald.
“There isn’t much to say. We just have to do it, not to talk. We have to go there and try to play the game to win and, of course, when they come here we also have to aim to win.”
Continued the ‘Smiling Assassin’: “So we are going to do our best as a team. We just want to promise our fans that we are going to do everything we can to collect some points in these two games.’’
The Warriors take on their much fancied opponents first this coming Thursday in Algiers before hosting them at the National Sports Stadium on Monday.-Soccer 24
FC Platinum coach Pieter de Jongh has described their draw in the Champions League as a tricky one but believes they can come out with a positive result.
The Platinum Boys will face Costa do Sol of Mozambique in the preliminary round following a draw that was held on Monday.
The Zimbabwe champions will travel first for the first leg between 27-29 November before hosting their opponents in the following week.
“Tricky draw for the Caf Champions league. Over 3 weeks time (before) the first leg and we start away. With support from everyone, we fix it,” the gaffer said on his Twitter.
Should FC Platinum progress through to the second preliminary round, they will face the winner in the match between Plateau United of Nigeria and Tanzanian side Simba SC.
The team is the only representative for Zimbabwe in the inter-club competitions after Chibuku winners Highlanders withdrew their participation in CAF Confederation Cup.-Soccer 24
The best defense is to avoid lightning. Here are some outdoor safety tips that can help you avoid being struck:
Do
Be aware Check the weather forecast before participating in outdoor activities. If the forecast calls for thunderstorms, postpone your trip or activity, or make sure adequate safe shelter is readily available.Go indoors Remember the phrase, “When thunder roars, go indoors.” Find a safe, enclosed shelter when you hear thunder.
Safe shelters include homes, offices, shopping centers, and hard-top vehicles with the windows rolled up.Seek shelter immediately even if caught out in the open If you are caught in an open area, act quickly to find adequate shelter. The most important action is to remove yourself from danger. Crouching or getting low to the ground can reduce your chances of being struck, but does not remove you from danger.
If you are caught outside with no safe shelter nearby, the following actions may reduce your risk:
Immediately get off elevated areas such as hills, mountain ridges, or peaks.
Never lie flat on the ground. Crouch down in a ball-like position with your head tucked and hands over your ears so that you are down low with minimal contact with the ground.Never shelter under an isolated tree.Never use a cliff or rocky overhang for shelter.Immediately get out of and away from ponds, lakes, and other bodies of water.Stay away from objects that conduct electricity (barbed wire fences, power lines, windmills, etc.).Separate If you are in a group during a thunderstorm, separate from each other. This will reduce the number of injuries if lightning strikes the ground.
Don’t
Don’t stay in open vehicles, structures, and spaces During a thunderstorm, avoid open vehicles such as convertibles, motorcycles, and golf carts.
Be sure to avoid open structures such as porches, gazebos, baseball dugouts, and sports arenas. And stay away from open spaces such as golf courses, parks, playgrounds, ponds, lakes, swimming pools, and beaches.Don’t stay near tall structures Do NOT lie on concrete floors during a thunderstorm. Also, avoid leaning on concrete walls. Lightning can travel through any metal wires or bars in concrete walls or flooring.
Indoor Safety Tips
Even though your home is a safe shelter during a lightning storm, you may still be at risk. About one-third of lightning-strike injuries occur indoors. Here are some tips to keep safe and reduce your risk of being struck by lightning while indoors.
Avoid water Do NOT bathe, shower, wash dishes, or have any other contact with water during a thunderstorm because lightning can travel through a building’s plumbing.Avoid electronic equipment Do NOT use your computers, laptops, game systems, washers, dryers, stoves, or anything connected to an electrical outlet.
Lightning can travel through electrical systems, radio and television reception systems, and any metal wires or bars in concrete walls or flooring. Equip your home with whole-house surge protectors to protect your appliances.Avoid corded phones Corded phones are NOT safe to use during a thunderstorm.
Do NOT use them. However, it is safe to use cordless or cellular phones during a storm.

By A Correspondent- Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono’s lawyers yesterday said magistrate Ngoni Nduna should be arrested and face trial for querying why the State did not oppose bail in Henrietta Rushwaya’s gold smuggling case.
Chin’ono said this in court while defending his posts on social media which landed him back in prison after he was re-arrested for stating on his Twitter account that Rushwaya’s gold smuggling case had exposed massive corruption in the country which cost Zimbabwe billions in foreign currency.
Chin’ono is challenging his placement on remand through his lawyers Beatrice Mtetwa and Gift Mtisi.
He is being accused of stating on his Twitter handle that the prosecution was not going to oppose bail for Rushwaya, who was yet to be arrested.
In her arguments, Mtetwa told the court that Chin’ono did not commit an offence by posting the tweet which stated that the State would not oppose Rushwaya’s bail.
“So Mr Nduna should also be in the dock since he queried why the State did not oppose bail, the same way Chin’ono did. The State subsequently withdrew the consented bail. Why should Chin’ono be in the dock for just calling for an end to corruption?” she queried.
Allegations against Chin’ono are that from October 25 to 27, he posted information that impaired the dignity, reputation and authority of the courts, and that he had been having secret and unlawful communication with members of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on his Twitter handle, thus undermining the criminal proceedings against him.
Chin’ono also claimed that Zimbabwe was losing US$1,2 billion every year in illicit financial flows (IFFs) in the gold mining sector, adding the money could be used to resuscitate the country’s comatose health sector if the IFFs were curbed.
“Zimbabwe is losing US$1,2 billion every year through gold smuggling, an amount which can be used to run all central hospitals for 24 years, and, therefore, as a journalist, I couldn’t ignore such a case on gold smuggling,” he said.
Chin’ono had clocked close to two months in remand prison after getting arrested in July for allegedly inciting Zimbabweans to revolt against President Emmerson Mnangagwa for bringing the country to its knees, and was released on bail in September.
The State, represented by prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti, insisted that the tweet constituted an offence and Chin’ono was directly linked to it.

By Showbiz Reporter| Details corroborated with parents show that one of the women in the Sunday car accident that ended controversial businessman, Genius Kadungure and Malawi’s most wanted man fraud-suspect’s lives, Michelle (Moana) Amuli, was on the run from a top Zimbabwean judge she duped of his assets, having been married to him.
Four people died in the horrific accident that happened on the Borrowdale-Domboshawa road, just after the local police station in the wee hours of Sunday.
Moana, as she is affectionately known, was in love with the judge, as is alleged in an audio leak back on the 26th September 2020.
Sources close to the judge confirmed the audio saying he has been bitter ever since. The judge is the respected Webster Chi******** (name redacted), formerly based in UK. He was later duped by Moana when she allegedly fled with some possessions, as alleged.
Between September and the date of her death on Sunday morning the judge has been looking for her.
When she passed on, she was travelling from a lavish birthday party organised by the late money-worshipper, Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure at his nightclub in the capital city.
She died in the accident with Ginimbi (who was driving), another female colleague, and a top most wanted criminal fugitive from Malawi, Lumumba Karim.
The details corroborated with witness statements by her own father who also described herbals a party animal.
The other female victim who was said to be a Mozambiquen was named as Elisha, without much further detail. The accident falls within days of Ginimbi’s cousin Marry Chiwenga being brutally kicked out of her matrimonial home by the coup general, and Vice President of Zimbabwe Constantino Chiwenga.
Meanwhile the below audio allegations were revealed back on the 26th of September 2020, and it is narrated that Moana had fled the judge after living with him for a while.

By A Correspondent- Pupils have been sent home on opening day amid concern that teachers are incapacitated in Uzumba Marangwe Pfungwe Tuesday.
The Zimbabwean government announced that schools will be reopened in a phased manner for all learners this year.
The first phase targeting examination classes for the locally run Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) opened on Sept. 28, followed by non-examination classes.
Phase two saw the reopening of classes for primary school learners in Grade six and secondary school learners in Form three and five, followed by phase three which saw the rest of learners in primary and secondary schools going back to school on Nov. 9.
A source who spoke to this publication revealed that the pupils were sent back home by their headmaster at Mashambanhaka Secondary School because there are no teachers.
Said the source:
“All learners were told to go back home and the headmaster said only Form 4s are to be in the school premises. The pupils were told that it will not help their situation to waste time at a place where there are no teachers.
For the Form 4s, there is no learning that is happening but the children are just being encouraged to read on their own.”

The comedian succumbed to stomach cancer yesterday at Westview Clinic in Zimre Park.
Machakaire who is also Zanu PF legislator for Wedza South said it was important to stand with those who are grieving and he thanked Dr Mataranyika for coming on board.
“All the funeral expenses are covered because we are paying for the food, coffin transport to his rural home in Rukweza. We have also decided to buy a beast,” he said.
He said Government through his Ministry will also play its part to give the veteran actor a decent send-off.
Machakaire and Mataranyika’s intervention has come as a huge relief to the Gringo family.
Gringo’s wife Netsai Meki said it has been communicated to the family through the actor’s sister.
“They have communicated to us and we are grateful for the kind gesture. This has come as a huge relief to the family because we had nothing,” she said.
Dr Johannes Marisa who has been assisting the actor with medication said he was devastated by the death because they were hoping for the best.
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) director, Mr Nicholas Moyo, described Gringo as a rare breed of a comedian, who was propelled to fame by the 1997 ZBCtv hit drama series “Gringo” and he subsequently featured in other spin-offs of the show like “Gringo Ndiani?” and “Gringo Mari Iripi?”
He recently starred as “Gibbo” in the series “Village Secrets”.
Gringo became popular in the early 90s when he began his acting career.

“Genius was a fun-loving character. He had a plan and always said “ndiri big”. Take time planning for my funeral. Check my requirements well. I want everyone who will be at my funeral to be dressed in all white, no matter who,” said Juliet.

Three other passengers in his car also died on the spot.
By A Correspondent- Four poachers who were arrested over the weekend for killing 5 buffalo and 2 kudus were this Monday sentenced in Hwange court to an effective 18 months each, plus restitution to the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) of US$48 000 for the buffalo and US$ 4 500 for the kudu.
According to Bhejane Trust, the poachers were arrested after they were tracked by a combined team of Bhejane Trust Rhino Monitors, National Parks and a Painted Dog Conservation Anti-Poaching (PDC) team.
The poachers had hidden their kit and meat at their base camp hidden in the hills in the Deka Tail concession, bordering the Sinamatella area.
However, the poachers had left the camp, so the team continued to track them. For the next 5km, the poachers were anti-tracking, but when they thought they were clear, they headed straight for their home village.
The team followed, and some 28km from the base, they came to the poachers home village – by now it was getting dark.
They waited until everything in the village settled down and went to sleep, and then raided the houses – by now PDC had brought in a tracker dog to help.
They arrested four of the poachers, but another three escaped, but are known and are on the run. They recovered meat and various incriminating items.
The four poachers confessed to the poaching, led the team to their snare lines which were removed, and gave a lot of valuable information on all the poaching syndicates in the area.-statemedia
By Showbiz Reporter| One of the women in the Sunday car accident that ended controversial businessman, Genius Kadungure and Malawi’s most wanted man fraud-suspect’s lives, Michelle (Moana) Amuli, was on the run from a top Zimbabwean judge she duped of his assets.
The other famale victim who was said to be a Mozambiquen was named as Elisha, without much further detail.
By A Correspondent- The president of the Progressive Teachers’ Union (PTUZ) Dr Takavafira Zhou has applauded “several school heads” who “failed” to report teachers who have not been reporting for duty.
Teachers refused to return to work when schools reopened on 28 September citing incapacitation. They are demanding the restoration of their 2018 salaries when they were being paid around USD520. They currently earning an average of USD30.
Revolutionary greetings comrades. We salute yesterday’s heroic incapacitation modus operandi which was a resounding success across the country.
We noted that where teaching ensued it was largely conducted by student teachers. We reiterate that student teachers have no right to teach classes in the absence of mentors and welcome all students teachers to the incapacitation struggle, more so in light of the starvation $150 allowance that they get on teaching practice.
We salute several school heads for failing to send names of incapacitated teachers to district and provincial offices. Incapacitation is real and lets not assist an exploitative system to silence our voices.
The Ministry officials must cover the length and breadth of Zimbabwe to collect the names. We stand ready to defend our members as notification to this incapacitation has been made to both the employer and line Ministry.
Our incapacitation struggle must continue with all teachers engaging a high gear against the cold and calculated educational vandalism. Anyone who thinks schools may continue to operate in the current hap hazardous meddling and muddling through without teachers would be deflated very soon.
The competence based curriculum need teachers to be in schools. The competencies are identified, inculcated, nurtured and perfected by teachers.
With the deflation of the command centre tailor-made to compile names of incapacitated teachers, we are aware that the next threat is to withdraw bonuses for teachers this month purporting that education will be paid in December.
The gvt wants to use payment of bonuses as a bargaining chip. Our humble submission is that we stand ready for meaningful dialogue as Ptuz and part of the United Front of Teacher Unions. Such dialogue may salvage something for the 2020 academic year which is fast becoming a wasted year.
The attempt to re-open schools seem to be tailor-made to entice students to pay fees than enhance meaningful learning and teaching. How students that are supposed to learn twice a week or eight times for only one month pay between $15000 and $25000 baffles logic and common sense.
While it is still puzzling how students would successfully write examination given the fact that there is no meaningful learning in schools, we want to remind Zimsec to be ready to pay invigilators if they dream of smoothy running of exams.
We also appeal to the President of the country to urgently intervene over the welfare, health and safety of teachers in order to find a lasting solution in schools. Nothing substantial may come from discredited Apex Council that has no mandate from teacher unions and whose engagement in NJNC has become a tissue of misrepresentation.
Dialogue with the United Front of Teacher Unions can in our view bring a modicum of normalcy to schools. There is danger that if no appropriate steps are urgently taken, the writing of examinations is also put in serious doubt. To be fore warned is to be forearmed. We hope gvt will take urgent steps to resolve the impasse in schools.
The best way to resolve such an impasse is an objective redress of teachers’ pathetic welfare, let alone prioritisation of teachers and pupils’ health and safety. Teachers are more than ready to report for work but are sadly grossly incapacitated. Our clarion call is therefore the capacitation of teachers so that they can report at their work places and become vital cogs of national development.
By A Correspondent- Warren Hills Golf Club is facing eviction from its premises in Warren Park after it refused to pay rentals for the premises.
A Harare property developer, Sunshine Development (Pvt) Ltd, has petitioned the High Court seeking an order to evict the club.
The developer argued that the club was of the mistaken belief that the land belonged to the City of Harare whereas the land was privately owned. Sunshine Development said:
Defendant (Warren Hills Golf Club) has been in occupation of the premises by virtue of a lease agreement between it and City of Harare, the previous owner of the land, which lease of agreement expired on April 30, 2019.From April 30, 2019 to date, defendant holds no valid lease with the plaintiff (Sunshine Development (Pvt) Ltd) and has spurned all efforts by the plaintiff to sign a lease and has not been paying any rentals to plaintiff.
The developer argues that Warren Hills Golf Club is refusing to vacate the property prejudicing the company of a rental base sum of US$460 per month which is the current monthly rental value of the premises payable in local currency at the equivalent auction rate.-statemedia

Gringo’s aunt, Mrs Esther Manheya (sister to Gringo’s mother), confirmed the funeral arrangements, saying a farewell ceremony for his Harare friends and fans would be held tomorrow before the body is taken to his rural home.
She said:
We are very saddened as a family. Gringo died around 9am yesterday when we were visiting. The funeral wake is at his brother Mr William Musakwa’s residence in Zimre Park and we have discussed as a family that tomorrow, we conduct a farewell ceremony for his friends and fans, before he leaves for Rukweza Village.

Mrs Manheya added that the ceremony would be conducted at number 6653 Bvumba Road in Zimre Park.
Meanwhile, Dr Johannes Marisa, who had undertaken to help treat Gringo following an appeal by the family last week when his condition deteriorated, said not much could have been done as the cancer had spread to other body parts. Marisa said:
Gringo had stomach cancer which had already spread to some parts of the body. We did the scan and the results came (but were not good) and like I said, I could not share with the media before the family.
I told the family on Sunday and yesterday we had agreed to do a computerised tomography scan popularly known as ‘CT scan’. It seems he suffered a lot in the past months but did not know about his condition. It was too late for us to save him.-statemedia
By Nomusa Garikai- South Africa’s ruling party, ANC, Women League secretary-general, Meokgo Matuba, saluted United States Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris for being the first woman and woman of colour “to crash through one of the world’s highest glass ceilings”.
A historic fact VP – elect Harris acknowledged and celebrated herself. “I will not be the last!” she remarked.
“Harris as the Vice-President of the US must be the voice of reason against white supremacy, patriarchy, and male chauvinism in US and across the globe,” remarked Ms Matuba.
“Serving under President Joe Biden, she must also be at the frontline to fight against imperialism and amongst others call for an end to the illegal occupation of Palestine land by Israel, an end of sanctions against Zimbabwe, Cuba and many other countries.”
Zimbabwe is certainly one country that is in serious trouble and every thinking human being out there would ask VP elect Kamala Harris to please ignore Ms Meokgo Matuba. Zimbabwe is not in a mess because of the sanction!
The root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown and political paralysis is the country’s failure to hold free, fair and credible elections. The country has been stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship for 40 years because the regime has blatantly rigged elections to perpetuate its stay in power.
All the nation’s other problems of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption, economic meltdown, the total collapse of basic services such as education and health, tyrannical oppression, the murder of over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans for political gain, etc., etc.; could not and can never be meaningfully addressed as long as Zanu PF remain in office.
Zanu PF has always sort to blame all the nation’s economic problems and even justify its tyrannical oppression on the targeted sanction imposed on the regime by the USA and other Western nations without ever producing and evidence to support its claim. Why should a village in the rural backwaters be denied their right to a meaningful vote because the West imposed sanctions of the regime? Why would the government punish its own people for something they have no control over?
It is bad enough that Zanu PF has used sanctions as a feeble excuse for refusing to implement the democratic reforms necessary for restoring the people’s freedoms and rights including the holding of free and fair elections. It is adding insult to injury when outsiders side with the regime and ignore the mountain of evidence to proving that sanctions are just an excuse.
SA has refused to accept that Zanu PF blatantly rigged the July 2018 elections and is therefore, per se, illegitimate. The 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora were denied the vote, compared to the 2.4 million Mnangagwa says voted for him to win the presidency. The regime failed to produce something as basic and fundamental for free and fair elections as verified voters’ roll. SA ignored all that and insisted the elections “went well!”
Of all people, VP – elect Harris would understand the importance of free, fair and credible elections and the critical importance of healthy and functioning democratic institutions. She can well image what a mess America would be in if President Donald Trump’s repeated call to “Stop counting the votes!” had been carried out.
Zanu PF stopped the vote counting in 2008 when it was clear the party was losing the elections. It took six weeks to count 5 million votes announce the cooked up result. Six weeks!
Why Ms Meokgo Matuba and ANC government are ignoring the cry of people of Zimbabwe for justice, freedom and human dignity and listen instead to Zanu PF lies and propaganda is a complete mystery!
Yes, the election of Kamala Harris as USA Vice President “crashed the highest glass ceilings”. It is a very important mile stone in America’s march towards creating an equal and just society, free of the old prejudices of colour, gender, religion, etc.
In Zimbabwe, we thought the country’s independence would mark the end of white colonial oppression and exploitation and restore all are freedoms and rights. How wrong we were. We remove the white oppressors only to replace them with one of our own. Ordinary Zimbabweans are still being denied their most basic and fundamental freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful vote and even the right to life!
How ironic that Ms Matuba is agogo celebrating human progress in far away land and yet is indifferent to Zanu PF dragging a nation into the sone-age in her own backyard! Indeed, in her foolishness, she is even asking for the Zanu PF thugs to be rewarded. She wants all the sanctions imposed on the thugs for failing to hold free and fair elections lifted!
With leaders like Mnangagwa and Ms Matuba, with a knack for taking one step forward and three steps backward and view that as progress, it is little wonder Africans have remained rooted as mankind’s footstool!
Poor, poor Africa; like such breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent leaders progress out of this hell-hole we find ourselves stuck in is going to be a hard, long and painful slog. Little wonder many have all but given up the fight! Meaning, if Africans were given the chance to settle wherever they wished, within a week the continent will be completely deserted.
Still, whilst we have no choice but to call Africa home; we would do well to commit ourselves to the task of pulling ourselves out of this man-made hell-on-earth. Zimbabweans must focus everything on ensuring the next elections are free, fair and credible and ignore the fools claiming the lifting of the sanctions will change anything.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) has supplied coronavirus/COVID-19 situation report as of 9 November October 2020 which shows that the number of deaths and new cases in the country are beginning to scale up again bringing down the national recovery rate.
The artisanal miners who took it upon themselves to “rescue” fellow miners trapped in a collapsed mine in Chegutu are reported to have reached to the remaining bodies but are now demanding US$250 for each of the bodies before they are brought to surface.
Goverment called off the rescue mission after over five weeks of digging claiming that it was getting dangerous and very expensive to continue with the mission.
The goverment recommendation was to shutdown the shaft and bury off the trapped miners. The artisinal miners volunteered to rescue their collegues two months after the accident. Two bodies have since been brought to surface and families have buried them.
The informal rescue team is reported to have been angered by the families who went on to bury the bodies without paying anything to them for their efforts. They have since opted to hold the remaining bodies at ransom.
Task Mine Syndicate (Pvt) Limited chairman, Timothy Masviba told media of the latest development.
“The mission to find the three artisanal miners is still on. The challenge we have is of trying to mobilise the US$250 per body that the rescuers are demanding from us and the victims’ families,” said Masviba.
“We therefore need in excess of US$750 as the rescuers need food to continue with the search for the bodies.”
It is now almost 60 days since the accident happened at the gold-rich mine situated on the outskirts of Chegutu.
The incident has exposed the country’s lack of disaster preparedness, with the ill-equipped Civil Protection Unit (CPU) and other State agencies having abandoned the rescue mission on 2 October.
The five artisanal miners were 8 September trapped after a 110-metre mine shaft they were working in collapsed.
They were identified as Crynos Nyamukanga (44), Munashe Nyamukanga (17), Shingai Gwatidzo (20), Costantino Dzinoreva (47) and Charles Mutume (31).

The MDC-T temporally led by Thokozani Khupe has released what it calls official results from the Bulawayo province nominations for presidential elections.
Over the weekend, media was graced with results from the same nomination that showed late entry Abednico Bhebhe emerging in the lead.
The new results, however, show that Khupe won the Bulawayo nomination. Below is the official Tweet by the party:
Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation deputy minister and Zanu PF legislator for Hwedza South, Tino Machakaire , on Monday pledged to buy a coffin for the late controversial businessman and socialite Genius Kadungure, popularly known as Ginimbi.
Sources close to the development said at around midday on Monday Machakaire pledged to buy a versace coffin and delivery is expected between today (Tuesday) and Thursday.
Contrary to reports going round that Ginimbi kept a coffin at his mansion, sources say suppliers of coffins yesterday showcased a gallery of available caskets and the family settled for a versace brand.
Investigations by the Zim Morning Post revealed that the versace brand coffin ranges between US$5 000 to $12 000 depending on the specifications which clients choose.
Ginimbi and three of his friends died in the early hours of Sunday morning when Rolls Royce they were traveling in hit an oncoming Honda Fit, veered off the road, crashed into a tree and caught fire.
Eye-witnesses at the accident scene say they managed to retrieve Ginimbi “who was still alive” but died a few minutes later, while the other three passengers were burnt to death when the vehicle exploded.
Ginimbi is expected to be buried on Saturday in Domboshava. His friends are arranging an all-white-farewell-party on Friday night.
Zimbabwe’s former captain Elton Chigumbura, who has decided to retire after the series against Pakistan, said on Monday that he was quitting international cricket with a heavy heart because he had gotten tired of fighting injuries in the last five years.
“Though I never stopped trying in my 16-year international career, the time has come to make a decision. My decision to retire from cricket is governed by two factors — I have gotten tired of fighting injuries and I feel my timely retirement will help youngsters get in the team and gain experience for more important events to come,” he said.
The 34-year-old Chigumbura, a veteran of 213 ODIs and 14 Tests, will be playing his 57th T20I on Tuesday (today).
The former skipper said he was leaving cricket with a heavy heart but at the same time there was a smile on his face. “I know I have contributed to the best of my abilities for my country and for my team,” he said.
“What I will miss the most is cricket, my team and my efforts to make the best use of the opportunity. I am thankful to my parents, sisters and brothers, and my fans for trusting my abilities. I am thankful to Zimbabwe Cricket for believing in my abilities as captain and a teammate. Thank you all and I hope you will accompany me on my next journey.”
Chigumbura added that it was an honour for him to represent Zimbabwe. “You cannot please everyone when you lead the team but still I tried to turn negatives into positives to support talented youngsters,” he said.
He said he wanted to contribute to Zimbabwe’s cricket in the best possible way. “I want to help and guide our youngsters to sharpen their skills. So my services are always there for Zimbabwe Cricket,” Chigumbura said.

The Competition and Tariffs Commission (CTC) has threatened to take action against schools ordering learners to buy face masks from them or stipulated suppliers saying such practices violate competition regulations.
In a recent update, the CTC stated the directives being issued by schools negatively impacted the consuming public as it is anti-competitive.
“The Commission will not condone such exploitation of the vulnerable society during the Covid-19 pandemic period; will not hesitate to undertake enforcement actions against any school found to contravene the Competition Act, pre – and post – the opening of schools,” CTC stated.
In line with the regulations, the CTC also advised all stakeholders – the practice of imposing a supplier of face masks and sanitizers on schools, pupils, parents, guardians, is an anti-competitive practice prohibited in terms of the Competition Act.
China says it has taken note of Joe Biden’s declaration of victory in the US presidential election but is holding off on sending any message of congratulations.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Monday the result of the election would be determined under US laws and procedures, and Beijing would follow international practices in extending its sentiments.
China has had a fractious relationship with President Donald Trump, characterised by growing friction over trade, technology and competition for influence in Asia and the world, with the two powers sparring over issues from blame for the COVID-19 pandemic to Beijing’s human rights record in Xinjiang and Hong Kong.
Analysts say Biden will likely return ties to a less contentious state, although Beijing has stuck throughout the election to a position of not commenting directly on what it says is an internal American political issue.
“I noticed that Mr Biden has declared victory of the election,” Wang told reporters at a daily briefing. “We understand that the presidential election result will be determined following US laws and procedures.”
In 2016, President Xi Jinping sent congratulations to Trump on November 9, a day after the election.
China is one of only a small number of high-profile nations, including Russia and Mexico, that have yet to issue statements on the election, in which Democrat Biden emerged the winner over Republican incumbent Trump after days of ballot counting. Trump has yet to concede and is challenging counting in several districts.
“Since when does the Lamestream Media call who our next president will be?” Trump said in a tweet on Sunday.
Relations between China and the US are at their worst in decades over disputes ranging from technology and trade to Hong Kong and the coronavirus, and the Trump administration has unleashed a barrage of sanctions against Beijing.
While Biden is expected to maintain a tough stance on China – he has called Xi a “thug” and vowed to lead a campaign to “pressure, isolate and punish China” – he is likely to take a more measured and multilateral approach.
Wang Huiyao, head of the Center for China and Globalization and an adviser to the government in Beijing, said he expects more dialogue under a Biden administration.
“Biden’s election means an opportunity to re-establish relations with the US as he is more likely to uphold multilateralism. That means China and the US can start discussing issues including climate change, pandemic control and trade,” Wang said.
‘Entangled in controversy’ Hu Xijin, editor of the Global Times, a tabloid published by the ruling Communist Party’s People’s Daily, said in a tweet: “China hasn’t congratulated Biden on his victory as quickly as Western countries did”.
“I think it’s because China needs to keep larger distance from the US presidential election to avoid getting entangled in its controversy. This actually shows that China respects the US as a whole,” he added.
China’s view aligns both with its stated policy of non-intervention in other countries’ domestic political affairs and its desire to hedge its bets with whichever party ends up in office.
Without commenting on an election winner, Wang said Beijing would “always maintain that China and the US should strengthen dialogue and community”, expand cooperation, and “manage and control differences based on mutual respect”.
Wang added: “We hope the new US government can meet China halfway.”
HENRIETTA Rushwaya and Pakistani businessman Ali Muhamad are willing to accept stiffer bail conditions than those originally proposed while awaiting trial on charges of attempting to smuggle gold to Dubai and associated charges.
Rushwaya, through her lawyer Mr Tapson Dzvetero, said she was prepared to deposit $90 000, surrender title deeds to one of her properties as surety and report every Friday at Rhodesville Police Station, but would accept even stiffer conditions if magistrate Mr Ngoni Nduna wanted to ensure she did not abscond.
She also noted that the four gold bars worth US$333 000 would be returned to her if she was acquitted, and forfeited if found guilty, so she was anxious to stand trial.
Mohamad, through his lawyer Mr Tinashe Tanyanyiwa, offered bail of $100 000 plus surety of the title deeds of his Belvedere house or any other business property and was willing to report twice a week at Milton Park Police Station.
The two are appearing along with Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operatives Stephen Tserai and Raphios Mufandauya plus Zimbabwe Miners Federation official Gift Karanda.
They are facing between them charges of smuggling, unlawful possession of gold, bribery, criminal abuse of office and obstructing the course of justice, all arising from the discovery of 6kg of gold in Rushwaya’s hand baggage on October 26 as she attempted to board a flight to Dubai using the VIP route at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
The finding of the gold is not in factual dispute, just the intentions and the charges.
In her bail application, Rushwaya said she wanted to clear her name and reclaim her four gold bars. She denies all charges and continues to assert, as she has done from her arrest, that she grabbed the wrong bag when going to the airport.
Rushwaya denied ever having attempted to bribe anyone and says the US$5 000 she is alleged to have offered was not found on her person when she was searched.
Mr Dzvetero said Rushwaya had more than 50 people dependent on her, including employees, and has fixed family ties in Zimbabwe.
He said she had vast businesses interests in mining and was licensed to produce and market cannabis for medication.
Muhamad, through Mr Tanyanyiwa, said he wanted to clear his name and preserve his US$50 million business empire in Zimbabwe.
He denies there was any evidence linking him to the offences and there was no indication in State papers of him having conspired to smuggle the gold outside the country.
The searches at his home revealed detailed information from Fidelity Printers, so he had no need to conspire to smuggle gold, and found no links to the charges he was facing nor to any of his co-accused. No gold was found at his home, even though he had a licence to buy gold and so could have held gold legally.
Tserai, who is represented by Mr Admire Rubaya, described the State’s allegations during the bail hearing as built on “sinking sand.”
Mr Rubaya said smuggling required proof of intention, and that proof was, he said, lacking for all accused and required Zimra to be the complainant, yet there was no statement from any Zimra official that Rushwaya, “probably in the company of Tserai and Mufandauya”, was called to declare and failed to do so. While the State alleges that Tserai was pulling Rushwaya’s bag as she went through the VIP route on the basis of CCTV evidence, the investigating officer agreed that the bag was not transparent and Tserai could not see the contents, said Mr Rubaya.
The bail hearing for the five accused continues today. Messrs Garudzo Ziyaduma and Charles Muchemwa appeared for the State.
Teachers and pupils at Nkululeko Secondary School outside Gweru are in a state of shock following the electrocution of a 15-year-old boy while doing laundry at the school.
Collen Chinyemba from Kuwadzana Extension in Harare, died on Sunday while washing his blankets at the boys’ hostel at the school.
His parents had left him at the school on Saturday ahead of the third phase reopening of schools yesterday.
Schools were closed in March as part of Government’s efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 pandemic and boarders started returning to their respective schools from Saturday.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko said police had received a report of sudden death which occurred at Nkululeko Secondary School at the weekend.
Insp Goko said information received indicates that the now deceased was washing his blankets in a tub in the boys’ hostel.
He said Collen who was allegedly inside the tub washing his blankets tried to balance himself by holding on to a metal that was above the tub.
“He got hold of the metal which is an electrical conductor and was electrocuted and fell to the ground,” he said.
Insp Goko said Collen was rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital by one of the teachers at the school. He said Collen was pronounced dead on arrival at the health institution.
“The scene was attended by Zimbabwe Electricity and Distribution Company workers. No foul play is suspected,” said Insp Goko.
He said the body is at Gweru Provincial Hospital awaiting to be taken for postmortem at a Bulawayo hospital. -Herald
Comedian Lazarus Boora, popularly known as Gringo, who died yesterday morning at West View Medical Clinic will be buried on Thursday at his rural home in Rukweza, Rusape. He was 47.
He succumbed to stomach cancer around 9am yesterday despite concerted efforts by doctors to stop the disease from spreading to other parts of the body.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Senator Monica Mutsvangwa said in a statement yesterday that the arts community and the nation had lost a great actor.
“My fellow countrymen, this morning (yesterday), we learnt of the passing of one of Zimbabwe’s talented comic actors, Lazarus Boora, popularly known as Gringo,” she said.
“Allow me on behalf of His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa and the nation to convey my condolences to the Boora family.
“Lazarus may have left us, but he will forever be remembered as our dear Gringo, a man who brought joy and laughter in our homes. May his dear soul rest in peace.”
Minister Mutsvangwa chronicled the history of Gringo, starting from the days he attended primary school in his home area in Rusape, Manicaland, where he was born in an area called Rukweza.
Gringo then came to Harare for his secondary education. “It was during these formative years that his potential in the arts sector came to light,” said the Minister.
“He later went on to attend Mutare Teachers’ College where he studied drama. To further his education in the arts, he then enrolled at the University of Zimbabwe where he studied theatre and dance.”
Gringo then joined various theatrical groups, and rubbed shoulders with highly professional theatre gurus who helped him hone his acting skills.
“In 1997, Lazarus had his television debut when he acted a minor role as a junior policeman in Aaron Chiundura-Moyo’s popular television drama series ‘Chihwerure’,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
“The following year, 1998, Lazarus Boora was cast as Gringo in a television comedy drama series which was an adaptation of a cartoon character by Enock Chihombori.
“He became an instant hit with Zimbabwean television viewers. His co-actors also found themselves in the lime light as the Zimbabwean TV audience fell in love with the drama series.
“From then, he became known as Gringo, and this became the platform to carry out his passion, entertaining Zimbabweans and the world at large.”
In 2002, “Gringo Ndiyani”, a production fronted by Gringo won the Best TV Drama Series award at the inaugural National Arts Merit Awards, while Gringo walked away with the best Actor Award and the writer, Enock Chihombori won the Best Film and Television Script writer’s award.
Minister Mutsvangwa said this was a testament that the series was one of Zimbabwe’s finest comedies and further affirmed Gringo’s excellent acting abilities.
Gringo’s aunt, Mrs Esther Manheya (sister to Gringo’s mother), confirmed the funeral arrangements, saying a farewell ceremony for his Harare friends and fans would be held tomorrow before the body is taken to his rural home.
“We are very saddened as a family,” she said. “Gringo died around 9am yesterday when we were visiting. The funeral wake is at his brother Mr William Musakwa’s residence in Zimre Park and we have discussed as a family that tomorrow, we conduct a farewell ceremony for his friends and fans, before he leaves for Rukweza Village.
“The programme on what is going to be done at the ceremony is still being worked on, but we will involve those who are relevant in it. He will be buried on Thursday afternoon.”
She said the ceremony would be conducted at number 6653 Bvumba Road, Zimre Park.
Dr Johannes Marisa, who had undertaken to help treat Gringo following an appeal by the family last week when his condition deteriorated, said not much could have been done as the cancer had spread to other body parts.
“Gringo had stomach cancer which had already spread to some parts of the body,” he said. “We did the scan and the results came (but were not good) and like I said, I could not share with the media before the family.
“I told the family on Sunday and yesterday we had agreed to do a computerised tomography scan popularly known as ‘CT scan’. It seems he suffered a lot in the past months but did not know about his condition. It was too late for us to save him.”
In an interview yesterday from his base in South Africa, Chihombori, the man who created Gringo, said the country had lost a great character in the arts industry.
He vividly remembered his first encounter with him and said he was fun-loving, but very talented.
“We have lost a great character,” said Chihombori. “My memory with him dates back to the time we met and started shooting Gringo. He was a fun-loving and cheerful character.
“Even during the shoot when you gave him a script, he would go the extra mile being creative. He would make people feel at home by continuously cracking jokes each time he was on set.
“My experience with him in his acting career was amazing as I learnt a lot from Gringo. I will miss him dearly. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to the funeral because I am in South Africa right now, but I salute you Lazarus.”
“Boora will be remembered forever as the master of local television with his signature makeshift khaki short, black vest, barefoot and his witty humour which kept millions of Zimbabweans glued to their television sets,” said Moyo.
“The NACZ management and staff would like to express their sincerest condolences to Amai Boora and the Boora family, the arts fraternity and the nation at large following the passing on of one of the country’s most recognisable television personalities. May his soul rest in peace.”
Gringo became popular in the early 90s when he began his acting career. He is survived by seven children and wife Netsai. -Herald
People in Domboshava are mourning businessman and socialite Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, reminiscing on the love he had for the rural community, which was taking a new shape because of his philanthropic works.
Ginimbi was killed in a car accident, together with three others, early on Sunday along Liberation Legacy Way on his way home from an outing.
The community has described him as a saviour who helped them in all respects.
Ginimbi constructed a tarred road from Domboshava Showgrounds Shopping Centre to his house in Nyamande Village, a development which the residents said upgraded the once looked down upon village.
He connected electricity from the shopping centre to his house with all houses along the line being connected to the power lines and benefiting for free as he paid the electricity bills.
A visit to the village by The Herald Arts crew revealed that Ginimbi was being viewed as a “saviour” by the community.
Village head Mr Davis Kadungure said Ginimbi did a lot for the community and described him as a “hero”.
“I am the village head, but to Ginimbi, his father and I are brothers,” he said. “My nephew was a humble and loving person. He had an open-door policy and did not select who to assist. He has helped the Domboshava community at large as he created employment for school leavers and even those old enough to be his fathers. We have lost a leader, son and friend.”
Mr Kadungure said all people were welcome to attend Ginimbi’s funeral, but should adhere to the burial arrangements as he wished.
Esnath Muniri
Ms Esnath Muniri, one of Ginimbi’s neighbours, said she was hurt by his death.
Her husband, Succeed Bingura (35), was Ginimbi’s employee.
“He gave my husband a job and is he currently working in Mt Pleasant as a security guard,” said Ms Muniri. “I last saw Ginimbi on Saturday morning as he passed by my house. He used to hoot each time he passed, but I had never met him face-to-face.
A 22-year-old man, Tino Nyamoto, who sells his wares along Liberation Legacy Way said Ginimbi used to give them some money.
Juliet Kadungure
“Boss Ginimbi was a real boss,” he said. “He had a lovable character.
“I remember showing him my drawings of his car and he laughed, but this time he didn’t give me some money.
“The other day he passed by with some beautiful girls and said, “artist wangu ndeipi” and they bought cool drinks for US$10.
“We both laughed, I said mbinga.”
Webster Mazai from Nyamande Village said Ginimbi was a humble person, while Viola Usaihwevhu, who is in her late 50s, said because of Ginimbi, the face of Domboshava had changed.
Ginimbi will be buried at his mansion in Domboshava on Saturday.
TWO children aged three months and five-years from Maphisa area died after a vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and rolled several times.
Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Philisani Ndebele confirmed the incident which occurred on Tuesday at the 103 km peg along the Bulawayo-Maphisa Road at around 7AM.
He said the driver, Mr Fortune Mlilo, lost control of the vehicle while trying to evade some donkeys which were on the road after trying to overtake another vehicle.
“I can confirm that we recorded a fatal road accident which occurred along the Bulawayo-Maphisa Road.
“Fortune Mlilo was driving a Toyota Sienta headed for Bulawayo with seven passengers on board. When he got to the 103 kilometre peg he tried to overtake another vehicle but realised that there were donkeys blocking the other lane.
“He tried to evade the donkeys and in the process lost control of the vehicle which rolled several times before landing on its roof. A three-month-old baby boy and a five-year-old girl died upon admission to Maphisa District Hospital while the other passengers and the driver sustained injuries,” he said.-Chronicle
WARRIORS skipper, Knowledge Musona, says they feel they can collect some points in the back-to-back AFCON qualifiers against Algeria.
The Smiling Assassin arrived in the country yesterday aboard the same flight with the England-based trio of Tendayi Darikwa, Adam Chicksen and Jordan Zemura.
This will be Zimbabwe’s first competitive international assignment since last November when they upstaged Zambia 2-1 in their backyard.
“It always feels good to come back home and represent the country,” he told The Herald.
“We are looking forward to the upcoming games against Algeria.
“There isn’t much to say. We just have to do it, not to talk. We have to go there and try to play the game to win and, of course, when they come here we also have to aim to win.
“So, we are going to do our best as a team. We just want to promise our fans that we are going to do everything we can to collect some points in these two games.’’
The 30-year-old forward played a leading role in Zimbabwe’s qualification in the previous two editions of the AFCON finals in Gabon and Egypt.
Musona combined twice with Khama Billiat when Zimbabwe beat hosts Zambia 2-1 in Lusaka to move second in Group H with four points.
Algeria lead the race, on six points, following wins over both Zambia and Botswana.
The Desert Foxes are unbeaten in their last 20 games in all competitions in a period stretching two years.
Their last home match, in an AFCON qualifier was a five-goal destruction of Chipolopolo in Algeria.
However, in their second match against Botswana, they showed they were human, too, as they struggled to win 1-0 in Gaborone.
Star forward, Riyad Mahrez, did not play in that match against the Zebras but is available for the duel against the Warriors.
Matches between Zimbabwe and Algeria, however, have produced interesting results with their last meeting at the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon ending in a 2-2 stalemate.
Musona was part of the game but only lasted 12 minutes after suffering an injury.
The captain was also joined at the airport yesterday by new Orlando Pirates hotshot Terrence Dzvukamanja, who had arrived earlier from South Africa.
There was boundless joy for Zemura, who was met at the airport by ecstatic members of his family.
The 20-year-old has experienced a phenomenal rise in the last two seasons, and was recently handed his first team cap at English Championship side, Bournemouth.
This is the first time that the fullback has joined the Warriors for national team duty.
Interestingly, he will be turning 21 on Thursday when Zimbabwe play Algeria.
The rising star, who can play either right or left back, says representing Zimbabwe has always been his dream.
“Currently, I am transitioning into breaking into the first team and playing competitively,’’ he told our sister newspaper, The Sunday Mail, at the weekend.
‘’So, at the moment, I am ready and can’t wait for the opportunity (to play for the Warriors.
“It is something that I have always wanted to do.
“I received the call-up from the manager and had a good conversation with him, and now things are looking good and I want to be part of this team).’’
Scotland-based David Moyo and Adam Chicksen are also looking to have their full national team caps.
Musona said he was delighted by the commitment shown by some Zimbabwean players born and raised in the Diaspora towards playing for their mother country.
“I am glad that they are here and we welcome them. They are part of our team and they are Zimbabweans,’’ he said.
‘’So, we just want to welcome them to the team and make sure that they adapt quickly to the new environment and also to the new teammates that they are going to meet.-The Herald
Mourners who will attend businessman and socialite Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure’s burial at his mansion in Domboshava on Saturday are expected to wear all-white, synonymous with his trademark dressing for the lavish parties he used to host.
His family confirmed the requirement, saying it was part of his funeral plan.
In an interview with The Herald Arts, Ginimbi’s eldest sister, Juliet, said her brother used to tell them that he wanted a huge send-off.
“Genius was a fun-loving character,” she said. “He always reminded us about how he wanted his funeral to be conducted. In fact, he had a plan and always said “ndiri big”, so make sure on my funeral, you do not hurriedly bury me.
“Take time, planning for it. Check my requirements well and one of the things is that I want everyone who will be at my funeral to be dressed in all white, no matter who. Please, make sure you emphasise that, remember, I am an all-white guy. The all-white should be on the day of burial.”
Juliet said according to the plan, they will have to wait for his other friends who are abroad to arrive for the burial.
“He would say, make sure you get in touch with my other friends abroad and wait for them to come,” she said. “That is why we are saying for now the funeral will begin on Thursday and for now people are gathered at our father’s residence which is 400 metres away from Ginimbi’s mansion.
“We have set up a tent because there are lots of people coming from all walks of life and we could not accommodate them at the mansion.”
Juliet said there will be two tents pitched for the wake.
“There will be a tent for friends and fans, then a VIP tent,” she said.
“He will be buried on Saturday in his yard as he wished to. It is very difficult for us as a family and we kindly request the public to respect us and avoid spreading malicious rumours.-The Herald

There have been frantic efforts by Zanu PF to throw President Chamisa to political oblivion. The people in the streets especially of Harare have got one message, no matter what the party structures or the so called captured judiciary say they will continue voting for President Chamisa.
Their message is clear and that what is happening in the MDC is the work of the enemy who fears competition , who acts as if they own title deeds for Zimbabwe.
The people are suffering and Zanu PF instead of focusing on the economy it focuses on closing the little democratic space that we have in the country.
Those willing to be used by the system in enabling it to deal with President Chamisa are indeed aiding in growing brand Chamisa.
The struggle being led and driven by President Chamisa is a struggle to emancipate the people of Zimbabwe. Zanu PF has been fighting illusory wars since 18 April 1980.
It has been chasing it’s shadow which it will never catch. The admittance by one Kembo Mohadi that they were never taught how to run the country and make it great gives credence to the attempt by the so called revolutionary party to bury the opposition.
In her efforts Zanu PF will fail dismally as the MDC identify with the downtrodden and fight for their emancipation . The people of Zimbabwe know how people like President Chamisa sacrificed in order to liberate Zimbabwe.
The people will not be easily swayed ambiguous judgements. The people are indeed resolute in their pursuit of a just society which is possible in our lifetime.
Zanu PF abuse securocrats and it’s not a secret that they serve at the pleasure of Zanu PF. The ban of by-elections under the guise of Covid19 clearly indicate that the country’s intelligence reported to the authorities that their attempts to annihilate the opposition using Lawfare are indeed failing to gain traction as people are waiting to reelect MDC Alliance MPS and councillors.
And indeed the use of Lawfare has emboldened the resolve by the people to fight Zanu PF head on and vote for MDC and president Chamisa in particular whenever elections are called for.
The continuous negative media coverage of President Chamisa help him in growing the Chamisa brand. Even those who might not be interested in politics would want to dig deep why the regime’s ideological state apparatus are all pointing at Nelson Chamisa. They are definitely asking themselves questions ranging from what has he done to warranty such character assassination, Why him only is being targeted?
Rogue regimes will never target useless people, they target those threatening the thrown and President Chamisa is one such.
As 2023 fast approaches the people of Zimbabwe are indeed identifying genuine opposition leaders and masquerades.
SAD events are believed to have taken place before the tragedy that claimed Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure’s life on Sunday.
A sister to Ginimbi’s late mother only identified as Mai Kadungure told H-Metro that Ginimbi wanted to stay home as he was unwell but forced himself to attend the party.
“Genius was one person who did not want to disappoint his friends and that forced him to overlook his feelings about leaving Domboshava,” said Gogo Kadungure.
“He later decided to leave and I wish if he had followed his conscience we would not be at this horrible scene.
“Genius also told me his plans to organise a memorial service for his late mother on the 5th of December this year but hey zvaramba.
“He will sadly be missed by the family, Domboshava community and his friends in business,” said Gogo Kadungure in tears at the accident scene.
One of the bouncers identified only as Simbi who attended birthday celebrations of Mitchel Moana where Ginimbi was coming from said the police tried to stop the party thrice.
“We have been robbed of a loving and generous man who changed my lifestyle,” said Simbi.
“I was among the guests celebrating Mimi’s birthday and on three occasion police raided the place and forced it to close but the party continued.
“Mapurisa vakauya vakasunga vanhu vakanobhadhariswa fines vakavharisa mutambo katatu asi pakavhurwa mafaro akapfuurira mberi.
“It was the first of its kind and no one knew it would end in that way.
“Genius normally leaves the pub around 2am but this is the first time he left at around 5am. He was visibly drunk and had it not been for the fact that he was not comfortable letting other people drive his car, it was best for him not to drive,” he said.
Travellers in ZUPCO buses, Kombis and lorries used their smart phones to capture the scene.
Among the people who attended the scene was Marry Mubaiwa, her mother and father as well as Members of Parliament, who included Energy Mutodi and Tino Machakaire.
MDC T led by Khupe will hold its presidential nomination meeting today in Mat. North.
The nomination process was triggered by supreme court ruling that compelled all 2014 MDC T structures to elect president at extraordinary congress to replace late president Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.
MDC T acting President Khupe, Secretary General Mwonzora, National organiser Bhebhe, Chairperson Komichi and National member Mudzuri are battling it out to be MDC T president.
Yesterday, MDC T held it’s first nomination meeting in Bulawayo.
One 2014 MDC T provincial member in Bulawayo said, “National Organiser Bhebhe won the election, but other contestants such as Mwonzora, Mudzuri did not accept the results.”
Senator Mwonzora got 7 votes, Senator Mudzuri got zero votes and Senator Komichi zero votes.
Surprisingly, Senator Mudzuri and senator Komichi voted at the Bulawayo meeting yesterday. The question still remains, “who did they vote for?” in addition, Senator Komichi and Mudzuri had election agents. The question is, how did these agents voted for if their candidates got zero votes?
The Bulawayo nomination results were rejected therefore according to Mr Dzambara “there must be a re-run.”
Mr Warship Dumba who is senator Mudzuri’s campaign manager said “MDC T nomination meeting in Bulawayo was chaotic. Great improvement is needed.”
In addition, on the leaked chats on MDC T group Mr Dzambara attacked Dr. Khupe and MDC T leaders for not suspending honourable Bhebhe.
below are leaked chats:
[08/11 21:14] e dzambara chr: Givemore l told you that don’t trust these ….. Only trust yourself. Why didn’t they expel Bhebe. MDC T Secretary General Mwonzora tried to suspend honourable Bhebhe after he demanded physical national Council, National Excutive council and standing committe meetings.
However, due to fear of 2014 MDC T structures senator Mwonzora et al refused to call for physical meeting and resorted to virtual meetings citing covid-19.
Surprisingly, MDC T is holding nomination meetings now, covid-19 is still there.
In a snap survey this morning, Derrick Amuli said, “In Mat. North majority of MDC T 2014 structures are pro-Bhebhe. Bhebhe has gained lot of support after he challenged Dr Khupe and Mwonzora in court. Bhebhe fought very hard for all 2014 MDC T members to vote. Remember SG Mwonzora expelled many 2014 MDC T members including the deceased former Masvingo provincial spokesperson Mr Dusty. In addition, Mr Bhebhe exposed $7 million dollars that was misappropriated used by MDC T Khupe and others.”
In addition, Mr Bhebhe is regarded as unifier.
This is in contrast to senator Mwonzora and Dr. Khupe who has successfully recalled many MDC Alliance members of Parliament, senators and councillors. These recalls have been perceived as “an act of vindictiveness and helping ZANU PF to have majority in parliament” said, Mr Mudzuri supporter.
Senator Mwonzora’s campaign message is centered on constitutionalism. He claims to have single-handed the success of “defeat of MDC Alliance in court.” said, Mr Tapera his supporter in Midlands who is in Mat. North campaigning for him.
Mr Kudakwashe who is campaigning for Senator Mwonzora said, ” Mr Mwonzora could have won easily. However, he went overdrive on recalls and made police to arrest youth such as Gorekore. These moves were dangerous to his presidential ambitions. “
However, Dr. Khupe’s supporter said, “It’s wrong for senator Mwonzora to claim victory in court cases alone. It was a collective.”
Dr. Khupe has some support from Mat. North. However, her disadvantage is that she is being perceived to be Zanu PF proxy after her engagement with Mnangagwa in Polad and her recent appointment as leader of the opposition in parliament by Mnangagwa.
Senator Komichi and senator Mudzuri have never campaigned in Mat. North.
Senator Komichi’s campaign message is premised on “Baba Abraham and General Tsao concepts that have failed to resonate with 2014 MDC T structures.” said, Mr Ncube.
On the other hand, Senator Mudzuri campaign team led by Mr Warship Dumba said, “Mr Mudzuri is mature and unifier. ” However, MDC T structures are asking where did Mr Mudzuri tried to unify people? Mr Mudzuri failed to stop vindictive recalls said, Mr Chigombo.
Will senator Komichi and Mudzuri get zero votes in Mat. North today?
Four poachers who were arrested over the weekend for killing 5 buffalo and 2 kudus were this Monday sentenced in Hwange court to an effective 18 months each, plus restitution to the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) of US$48 000 for the buffalo and US$ 4 500 for the kudu.
The four poachers confessed to the poaching, led the team to their snare lines which were removed, and gave a lot of valuable information on all the poaching syndicates in the area.
President Lazarus Chakwera has assured Malawians that his government will find out what is happening to Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s problematic stay in South Africa.
Chakwera made the comment on Sunday night in Mzuzu while meeting with local traditional leaders.
One of the chiefs had asked Chakwera to investigate what is happening to Bushiri in South Africa and, if needs be, government must step in to help the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church leader return to Malawi.
In response, Chakwera said: “Thank you so much for the question. I cannot give a full response now as matters are still in court; but I can assure you that I will follow up and find out everything and inform the nation.”
Bushiri also known as ‘Major 1’ or ‘Papa’ by ECG Church worshippers was arrested on last month, kept in custody for over two weeks something which riled the Malawian public, asking government to intervene.
Some members of civil society and faith groups recently asked government to intervene in the ongoing legal battles facing South Africa-based Malawian prophet Shepherd Bushiri and bring him back home.
Malawi Watch executive director Billy Banda and Anthony Mukumbwa—a commissioner of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) and a close friend of Bushiri—alleged that Bushiri was being targeted by investigating agencies and receiving unfair treatment from the legal system in South Africa.
Said Banda: “We are not saying that the Bushiris are guilty or not, that is for the courts to decide. The courts must give the Bushiris a trial in a manner that is fair, just and impartial. At the same time, they [Bushiris] must enjoy the status of being innocent until proven guilty.”
He said the Malawi Government should intervene in the saga because Bushiri holds a diplomatic passport; hence, the South African authorities were in breach of international conventions on diplomatic relations.
The ECG leader is renowned for humanitarian works in the country and recently revealed that he will scale up humanitarian works in the country, especially in food security, as part of his contribution to supporting the Chakwera administration.
Meanwhile, Malawi government has confirmed the diplomatic passport which Bushiri holds is genuine and was dully granted.

Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi has denied claims they are forcing anyone to sign deportation papers.
At least 30 people are being held at the Lindela Repatriation Centre in the West Rand.
Home Affairs has begun deporting those who are in the country illegally.
Those who don’t qualify for refugee status are also set to be deported.

Courts recently attempted to resuscitate a case in which a senior MDC-Alliance party official was accused of undermining authority of or insulting Zimbabwe’s late former leader Robert Mugabe ten years ago.
Officials at NPA based in Bindura summoned Gilbert Kagodora, a lieutenant of opposition MDC-Alliance party leader Nelson Chamisa who serves as the opposition party’s Secretary for Information, Communication and Technology and Science Development, to stand trial at Bindura Magistrates Court on Monday 2 November 2020 on charges of undermining authority of or insulting Mugabe.
Kagodora’s case emanated from an incident in which he was arrested in March 2010 in Chiweshe in Mashonaland Central province by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) members, who charged him with undermining the authority of or insulting the President as defined in section 33 (2) (a) (i) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
ZRP members alleged that Kagodora denounced Mugabe during an address to party supporters at a constitutional awareness meeting held at Nzvimbo Council Hall in Chiweshe on 11 March 2010, when he said; “Mugabe mudenga, Grace mudenga, vabatanidzei, roverai pasi,” which the police deduced to mean “Mugabe up, Grace up, bring them together and drop them on the ground.”
However, in January 2015, the Prosecutor-General’s Office withdrew charges against Kagodora after his lawyer Jeremiah Bamu of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights challenged his prosecution for lack of merit. The withdrawal of the charges by the NPA led the late former Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku to remove Kagodora’s matter off the Constitutional Court (ConCourt) roll.
On Monday 2 November 2020, prosecutors from the NPA based at Bindura Magistrates aborted prosecuting Kagodora after Bamu challenged and reminded them that the matter had been struck off the ConCourt roll by Chidyausiku in 2015 and dared them to approach the apex court if they intended to revive the matter.
In the end, prosecutors advised Kagodora and Bamu that they would liaise with the NPA officials based in Harare and advise the duo in “due course” about how they will proceed with the matter.
ZIMBABWE may be forced into another lockdown, if Covid-19 cases continue to rise at the current rate.
The chief coordinator for the National Response to the Covid-19 pandemic in the Office of the President and Cabinet Agnes Mahomva said this in court papers supporting a ban on elections in Zimbabwe.
She was responding to a challenge against Vice-President and Health minister Constantino Chiwenga’s Statutory Instrument 225A of 2020 indefinitely suspending by-elections citing Covid-19 regulations.
The Election Resource Centre (ERC), the Women’s Academy for Leadership (Walpe) and six other applicants have gone to court to challenge the Health minister’s order suspending elections. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and President Emmerson Mnangagwa are cited as respondents in the application.
The country is supposed to hold by-elections for over 20 parliamentary seats and 170 local government wards to replace mostly MDC Alliance MPs and councillors recalled by MDC-T interim leader Thokozani Khupe.
Although lobby groups have accused Chiwenga of violating the Constitution by suspending elections when countries such as the US and Tanzania, among others, have successfully conducted polls during the pandemic, Mahomva said it was not possible to hold by-elections in December because of Covid-19 fears.
She said cases of Covid-19 had risen since the government relaxed regulations to curb the spread that included opening of the tourism sector and resuming domestic flights.
“Whether directly or indirectly as a result of these new relaxations, the infection rate has started to go up,” Mahomva said. “While the growth may be marginal at this stage, it has the potential to spike upwards in a manner which might not be foreseen.”
She added: “It may be that more enforcement of existing measures is required as well, but certainly should there be a sudden spike like that experienced around July 2020, then there might be need for more stringent measures such as those which are being re-introduced in Europe and the Americas.”
Some European countries have been forced back into lockdown as Covid-19 cases rise.
Mahomva said the period around December 2020 would be one of the decisive phases in the country’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“As such, I urge against any measures which may create uncontrolled gatherings, whether small or large, throughout the country. Such gatherings will be inimical to the country’s efforts to contain the spread of the virus and have the potential to result in high death rates,” she said.
“I, therefore, give it as my opinion as aforesaid that it is not advisable to hold by-elections on December 5, 2020 as this may create uncontrolled gatherings, whether small or large, throughout the country. The events surrounding the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic are moving in a direction which justifies my position…”
She said in August, a team of global scientists from the World Health Organisation, the Africa Centre for Diseases Control and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine conducted a survey on Zimbabwe’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic and their conclusion was that the country had successfully delayed the pandemic due to implementation of stringent public health and social measures enacted into law in March 2020 including a lockdown.
Last week, experts said the world was staring at a second wave of Covid-19 that could kill thousands in the country if regulations on social distancing and proper masking up were not observed.
Health and Child Care deputy minister John Mangwiro yesterday told The Standard that a possible second wave of Covid-19 would be harder to deal with than the initial outbreak.
Henrietta Rushwaya says she wants her day in court to clear her name and recover her US$333 000 worth of gold which is kept at Fidelity Printers and Refiners pending her trial and acquittal.
Rushwaya, who is being represented by lawyer Mr Tapson Dzvetero, also told the court that the State has a weak case against her, which is doomed to collapse at trial.
She said this in her submissions during bail application heard before Harare regional magistrate Mr Ngoni Nduna.
Rushwaya maintained that she had no intentions to smuggle the gold as alleged.
“The accused person (Rushwaya) denies all the charges. She denies she ever had an intention to smuggle gold outside the country. The accused asserted this aspect on the day of her arrest to the arresting detail, Bruno Chiketo.
“She had no knowledge that the bag she had carried contained gold and that she was of the mistaken belief that the bag contained her clothes, food stuffs and other personal belongings. She states that she could not have been naive to bring gold through an airport which she fully knows has scientific detectors.
“She could have not expected freely without having been detected especially in the manner it was not even concealed. There is no mention or allegations that the first accused refused or attempted to dodge the scientific detectors for if she wanted she could have dodged that point because that would have been the pointed where she could be detected.
“The fact that there was gold in her bag at the airport on October 26 is therefore, common cause. What is in dispute relates to her knowledge and in an offence of smuggling, possession and the State would be expected not only to prove the actus bares, but also knowledge, which is a critical element. Accused gave a plausible explanation.
“She does not dispute that at her house she had and was in possession of the gold, as she is a fully fledged miner in her own right having several mines she owns through her companies one of which is Realm Technologies which has grant No.6324 42 hectare within Mupfurudza Safari areas and in other areas. It was not disputed by the State that she has a gold buying agents permit. In respect of the smuggling matter, the State had approached the court with a full docket and not on Form 242 as could be seen from the witness who was not even aware of the status of the docket which was produced in court,” said Mr Dzvetero.
Mr Dzvetero said the State’s decision to deny her bail was based on its desire to turn the matter into a political issue.
He said that was evidenced by the evidence given by investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Michael Chibaya when he took to the stand to oppose bail.
“He showed the court that he does not have any knowledge in respect of smuggling.
“He did not even think of reading the witness’ statement but concentrated on the aspects to do with politics. He was either feigning lack of knowledge or was not candid to the court.
“The State case is doomed to fail. It is a very weak case. State also shows lack of probity and appreciation of material aspects that relates to the case,” he said.
She also refuted offering a bribe to the Civil Aviation Authority official who spotted the gold at the airport.
“In respect of the bribery charge, she denies ever having attempted or offered to bribe anyone. No money was found on her even though she was searched, which indicates that she had no money at all.
“If she was found with US$5000, the State would have taken the money as it would have exceeded the maximum limit at law of US$2000.
“The alleged bribee, Owen Sibanda, gave a statement on the day in question.
“In his statement, he did not mention that Rushwaya tried or attempted to bribe him. The State could not even identify who made the allegations of bribery, where it was made and why it was not among charges when first charged on October 27. It is a misplaced allegation that they have overwhelming evidence when the Investigations Officer does not identify which evidence he is relying on. The State case is doomed to fail.
“It is clear that in its bid to turn a simple issue into a political issue, the State alleges some form of connivance in unconnected people who do not know each other.
“The State dismally tried to impute words and documents on Rushwaya, which she vehemently denies. It is difficult to comprehend how an IO who has not gone through witness statement in the smuggling case to attempt to rely on documents which he alleges were furnished to the same witness whose statement the IO did not go through. It is therefore, clear that the State case is doomed to fail.
“It is common cause that the gold is secured at Fidelity Printers and Refiners and it is submitted that the gold itself is in itself security to Rushwaya that when she is acquitted of the State ailing case, she is entitled to recover her value of US$333 000. This is why Rushwaya is not likely to abscond. She is a mother of two, she has dependents in excess of 50 including employees and has fixed family ties in the jurisdiction. She also has fixed and vast businesses interests as she has various mines and licenced gold buyer,” he said.
The bail application continues with Ali Mohamed, Stephen Tserayi, Raphios Mufandauya and Gift Karanda expected to make their bail application submissions.
Emmerson Mnangagwa’s niece, Henrietta Rushwaya has demanded the court gives her a hearing date so she can after clearing her name recover her US$333 000 worth of gold which is currently being kept at Fidelity Printers and Refiners.
Rushwaya, who is being represented by lawyer Mr Tapson Dzvetero, also told the court that the State has a weak case against her, which is doomed to collapse at trial.

Avoid windows, doors, porches, and concrete Do NOT lie on concrete floors during a thunderstorm. Also, avoid leaning on concrete walls. Lightning can travel through any metal wires or bars in concrete walls or flooring.

The people of Zimbabwe are suffering because of rampant looting of State resources by the current administration. This is why people are suffering,” said President Chamisa.
THE National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) recently attempted to resuscitate a case in which a senior MDC-Alliance party official was accused of undermining authority of or insulting Zimbabwe’s late former leader Robert Mugabe ten years ago.

As Emmerson Mnangagwa and the First family make shrill noises about the litany of corruption allegations in which they are being implicated, claiming they are just but mere victims of an avaricious, name-dropping criminal elite, one will always find it very difficult to absolve them.
It is always very difficult for a leader to dissociate himself from the criminal elite that surrounds them, for they say any leadership is defined by the very people that surrounds it. And Mnangagwa’s has been monumentally tainted by a corrupt inner circle of relatives and acolytes that has been been the hallmark of his tenuous leadership.
Take for example the recent case of the 6kgs of gold bullion found on Henrietta Rushwaya, a Mnangagwa relative, at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International airport. Just how do you absolve the President himself in a case that has sucked in his wife, his son Collins and his close security team that includes Stephen Tserayi, Gift Karanda and Rafius Mupandauya? Just who could have the guts to needlessly name-drop figures in the First family when they are aware of the grievous consequences that could befall them, especially given ED’s malignant character and his infamous blood-soaked legacy?
There is simply no smoke without fire and the well-choreographed airport heist certainly had a political principal behind it. If these Mnangagwa acolytes fingered in recent corruption scandals were the deacons in the well-publicised incidences of avarice and sleaze, then there certainly has to be an archbishop in this church of criminal activities.
And one just can’t absolve the First family from providing papal services to these nefarious activities. It’s so tragic for a man who rose to power after waxing lyrical about what his proxies alleged to be a corrupt and criminal G40 cabal that surrounded former President Robert Mugabe. Ironically, this has turned out to be a worse cabal, nay a corrupt coterie of close associates. Indeed, corruption has been redefined anew under the corrupt cabal of the so–called new dispensation.
A cabal can generally be defined as a group, a faction, a gang, a set, a confederacy or a junta. The Merriam-Webster dictionary refers to a cabal as the contrived schemes of a group of persons secretly united in a plot while the English Collins dictionary defines it as a clique, a set, a party or a league. Whichever definition one decides to pick, the underlying message is that a cabal is a malignant, corrupt clique with an aptitude for evil schemes and desires.
Ever since the militarily-orchestrated demise of Robert Mugabe in November 2017, the new administration constantly referred in disparaging terms to what it called “the G40 cabal”, a clique that it accused of holding hostage the former President. This G40 cabal was reportedly fronted by former Cabinet Ministers Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere, Patrick Zhuwao and the former First Lady and ZANU PF Women’s League boss, Grace Mugabe, among others. But the new man himself has been held hostage by an avaricious elite of a worse disposition.
The aim of this treatise is to show that notwithstanding the very valid framing of these close acolytes of the former President as a cabal, the very real and dangerously corrupt cabal is the new team now in charge as reflected by the unrepentantly corrupt, anti-democracy and long-time criminal associates that have conveniently regrouped and now make up Emmerson Mnangagwa’s so-called “new” administration.
Indeed, as this piece will show, the real corrupt cabal is this team in government; with its like-minded characters that have a long history of corruption and standing between the people and their hope for democracy. This cabal—the Mnangagwa cabal–is replete with scheming characters strewn across a vast labyrinth of sectors that range from business, the military, the criminal underworld, the civil service.
At the centre of this team has always been July Moyo, who those in the know claim has always been the chief strategist of Mnangagwa’s faction and its enduring agenda to grab power at whatever cost. He is now the Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing who has himself corruptly usurped the functions of elected local authorities in flagrant violation of section 274 of the Constitution.
It is important to state from the outset that I hold no brief for Robert Mugabe and his G40 equally corrupt cohorts. I had my own issues with Robert Mugabe and his G40.
First, as the elected secretary-general of the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists, I was the first person to take the then Information Minister, Jonathan Moyo, to court way back in 2002 when I challenged what we regarded as unconstitutional and undemocratic provisions of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA), whose negative effects the media industry still feels to this very day.
As ZANU PF commissar and women’s league boss respectively, Kasukuwere and Grace Mugabe victimized and traumatized my sister, Hon. Dorothy Mashonganyika, a war veteran in her own right. The two conspired to hound her out of her elected position as ZANU PF women’s league chairperson for Mashonaland Central province. Among the reasons for their excoriation of my sister at their party meetings was her relationship to me. My relationship to Zanu PF’s Hon. Mashonganyika is that our late fathers were blood brothers. The two G40 protagonists, Grace and Tyson, mistakenly thought that Mai Mashonganyika was MDC simply because she is my sister, despite her being a staunch Zanu PF member, having been on the war front as a ZANLA combatant when Kasukuwere was still wetting his pants at the mere sound of gunfire and helicopters!
I used to tell Kasukuwere the few times we bumped into each other that ours is not a barbaric family; that my sister and I respect each other and our common parentage, notwithstanding the fact that we belong to different political parties. We value our blood relationship more than we do our party cards. We co-exist very well, despite our stark ideological and political differences.
As proud Africans, we have not allowed our different party cards to tamper with our blood bond which we both regard as more enduring and more important.
Indeed, that is the tolerant political dispensation that some of us aspire for and which she, as my sister, fought for when she spent over two years in the bush fighting for the liberation of this country.I am proud of her, as well as my other late sister, Acquelinah. The two Chiheras left Tamborenyoka village in Domboshava to join the war of liberation in the summer of 1978.
As for Robert Mugabe, I was arrested for the first time in my life on trumped up charges of criminally defaming him—during my other life as a journalist–on Friday, 19 January 2001. His government was to orchestrate several bombings on the offices and the printing press of TheDailyNews , the then audacious newspaper where I was political editor before I became the newspaper’s chief news editor, a position I left to join the MDC as the party’s Director of Information and Publicity on 28 October 2005.
So this treatise on this team now in government as the really dangerous and more corrupt cabal is in no way a vindication for G40 and its luminaries, who have all been a source of trouble for me personally and professionally over the years.
The point is I have my own issues with the G40, but I posit here that the real and more frightening confederacy is ED’s violent and corrupt cabal; this insidious alliance of callous characters now in government; indeed this closely-knit amity of personalities with a relationship that spans many years as they plotted together for the ultimate kill (both literally and metaphorically).
This piece will show how far back the alliances between the corrupt characters now in government have endured and will make obvious why the appointment of certain characters into Mnangagwa’s administration was not a mere coincidence. Cronyism and villagism are into themselves a form of corruption. The Moyos are Mnangagwa’s maternal uncles and these include Obediah Moyo, the former Health Minister currently facing charges of graft in which the First Family has once again been fingered. The other Moyos, his uncles, that Mnangagwa appointed into his government include CIO director-general Isaac Moyo and AFZ head, Air Marshall Elson Moyo. If one adds the criminal lot of the likes of Delish Nguwaya and ED’s top associate Kudakwashe Tagwireyi, who was implicated in the more than US$3 billion Command Agriculture programme and who appears to have a finger in every corrupt pie, one begins to appreciate the murky dimension of the corrupt team around the President; the team to whom he can only be the archbishop!
Perhaps the first indictment on Emmerson Mnangagwa as archbishop of corruption is the UNReportonthePlunderingoftheDemocraticRepublicoftheCongonaturalresources , a report done by the United Nations Panel of Experts (S/2002/1146). The report names what it calls an “ elitenetwork ” of politicians that was at the centre of plundering the resources of the DRC.
Named in the report are Emmerson Mnangagwa, then the Speaker of Parliament as well as Sibusiso Buso Moyo, then the director general of COSLEG, a Congo-Zimbabwe Joint Stock company that was a vehicle of the military-backed commerce involving mostly diamonds, banking and timber in the government-backed areas. The report also names Perrence Shiri, later to be appointed Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement.
The damning UN report reads in part: “ ThekeystrategistoftheZimbabwebranchoftheelitenetworkistheSpeakerofParliamentandformernationalsecurityMinisterEmmersonDambudzoMnangagwa …….. Given this association in what the UN alleges to be criminal activities in the DRC some 20 years ago, it is no wonder that Mnangagwa picked Moyo to be the Minister of Foreign Affairs in his Cabinet. This is the same Moyo who became a news anchor overnight and announced the military take-over on state radio and television in the last hours of Mugabe’s reign. The late Shiri was also a Minister in the new administration after the November 2017 coup and one begins to get a feel of what amounts to the regrouping of a really corrupt cabal.
If one adds other shadowy characters named in the UN report—personalities that are friends with Mnangagwa, among them Ahmed Said Thamer al Shanfari and the late John Arnold Bredenkamp, then the criminal elite network becomes a full cast!
The same UN report also implicates the then Minister of Defence, Sydney Sekeramayi. The report states that it was Sekeramayi who wrote a memorandum to Mugabe in 2002 proposing that a joint company between the ZDF and DRC be set up in Mauritius to disguise the nefarious and highly corrupt military activities in the Congo.
Given the revelations in the UN report and his links with this junta, it is by no means surprising that despite being touted as the G40 presidential candidate after Mugabe, Sekeramayi has been spared any form of arrest or harassment by the corrupt elite now in charge of the country. Sekeramayi, who continues to sit in Mnangagwa’s Politburo despite losing his Ministerial post, remains a troublesome but delicate irritant, more like a mosquito perched on the scrotum. You have to be careful how you squash it or else you injure yourself!
Sekeramayi knows a lot and he can’t be harassed, even though the G40 team had framed him as a presidential frontrunner after Mugabe.
Thus, Mnangagwa has an enduring relationship with the army and some of the corrupt military characters who stopped a transition in 2008. After all, the rabid war cry of “27 June vaMugabemuoffice ” when Mugabe had lost the first-round 2008 poll was a military operation fronted by Mnangagwa as the Minister of Defence and as Mugabe’s chief election agent. It is this malignant cabal fronted by Mnangagwa himself that has reunited in the current administration and that is now saddled with allegations of systemic corruption. They have waited too long for this and no can dare disturb their time to eat!
It must not be forgotten that while Mugabe was holding a press conference at State House on Friday, 30 July 2013, just on the eve of the 2013 election, it was Mnangagwa who pitched up on the State House lawn while the presser was taking place, accompanied by none other than Emmanuel Antebbi. Antebbi was the chief executive of NIKUV International, the Israeli company at the centre of the pilferage of the people’s will in Zimbabwe’s 2013 election. Mnangagwa was therefore the archbishop of that huge electoral heist, having commanded the surreptitious payments to Nikuv International.
It is anyone’s guess why Mnangagwa had brought this mysterious man to Mugabe on the eve of an election!NIKUV International had been paid by proceeds from diamonds extracted from the army’s claims given to the military by one Obert Mpofu, then the Minister of Mines. Mnangagwa was the Minister of Defence and it is no wonder that Mpofu in those heady days bought a bank for US$23 million while earning a salary of less than US$5 000 when he was Minister of Mines. Mnangagwa appointed Mpofu the Minister of Home Affairs after the coup, charged with the onerous responsibility of bringing justice to all criminals and corrupt goons.
Surely, how !could a mosquito be entrusted with curing malaria?
From 2008 to the current dispensation, there has been a sonorous chorus for media reforms as a key condition for a free, fair and credible election. For a long time the only constant human factor at the Ministry charged with the responsibility of ensuring these reforms take place was one George Charamba, my brother and totem-mate. Charanba, now the Deputy Chief Secretary (Communications) in the Office of the President and Cabinet, played hardball in implementing media reforms. Charanba, himself accused of looting well over US$200 000 in the PSMAS corruption scandal, is one man with a long history with Mnangagwa, which stretches back to the Tsholotsho debacle in 2004. It is now public knowledge that it was Charamba, then as the accounting officer and permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information and Publicity, who hired the helicopter that transported the ZANU PF chairpersons to Dinyane secondary school, the venue of the attempted putsch in 2004. His former boss, Jonathan Moyo, later told us that it was Charamba, as the accounting officer in the Information ministry who authorized the payment of $9 780 750 for the helicopter and even helped secure clearance for it.
According to Moyo, it was Charamba who authorized the hiring of the helicopter for two days after he had also reportedly written Mnangagwa’s speech, which speech was eventually delivered in Tsholotsho by Chinamasa on November 18, 2004. No wonder my brother until very recently occupied three powerful posts. Until his shunting to the OPC, Charamba was the defacto Minister of Information, the permanent secretary as well as presidential spokesperson all rolled .into one.
By dint of Charanba’s long-standing history as a Mnangagwa acolyte, it was no wonder why some of us wondered aloud whether he was a Mugabe emissary or a representative of the interests of the military junta in the Father Mukonori-led negotiations in the last hours of the former President’s tenure. Mugabe may have regarded his spokesperson as his man but Charamba could have been running with the hare and hunting with the hounds!
Also in Mnangagwa’s Office is his cousin, one Misheck Sibanda, who has continued to be the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet. Phillip Valerio Sibanda, yet another Mnangagwa cousin, is now the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces. If one were to add Mnangagwa’s associates in the military, which military has gone beyond the barracks and is now in the presidium, in Cabinet, in the party commissariat and at the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, among other strategic institutions, you have a full-fledged cabal that has regrouped in the so called new but very corrupt dispensation.
In short, the new administration is a regrouping of sorts, with relatives and long-time friends across the sectors re-uniting to form a formidable criminal cabal.
The multi-million dollar question ahead of the last pilfered election was: If this cabal could steal it for Mugabe when it was several feet away from real power, how far could it go in a scenario where they were set to be the immediate and direct beneficiaries?
Our consolation as a nation ahead of 2023 – – – especially in this month of November— is that if through sheer tenacity we survived and politically outlived Mugabe, then we can surely survive and outlive this regrouped criminal cabal!
Without sounding complacent, the person of Emmerson Mnangagwa has never been votable and his electoral chances will always lie somewhere between nil and zero, in the absence of electoral shenanigans and the whiff of condign power.
As ZANU PF prepares to field the archbishop again in 2023 , the MDC Alliance could mischievously consider throwing into the fray one Blessing Chebundo, the man who twice defeated Mnangagwa in Kwekwe until he sought political succour and comfort in the rural safety of Chirumanzu-Zibagwe. For Mnangagwa’s political peer in the MDC Alliance, who defeated him anyway, is Blessing Chebundo. Nelson Chamisa was always too much of an overkill.
It appears that Mnangagwa is surrounded by a criminal lot, apart from the fact that he has himself been publicly named by the United Nations as having the chief architect, nay the archbishop, in the criminal plunder of the resources in the DRC. As Robert Mugabe and his cronies plundered the country’s resources, with Mnangagwa himself as a key sidekick, the man appears to have been wallowing in silence while bidding his time to also bring his own cronies to the dinner table to plunder Zimbabwe’s milk and honey.
During the era of Mugabe, Mnangagwa appears to have been angling for the day he would bring his own family, kinsmen and associates to the fore to plunder the country.
Mnangagwa is now President, illegitimately of course. But that is a trifle matter to this criminal lot. What matters is that fate has blessed the archbishop. And true to Leonard Zhakata’s lyrics, he has now invited his family and fellow criminal congregants to partake of the country’s honeycomb!
Avoid windows, doors, porches, and concrete Do NOT lie on concrete floors during a thunderstorm. Also, avoid leaning on concrete walls. Lightning can travel through any metal wires or bars in concrete walls or flooring.

Tinashe Sambiri|Top Zimbabwean Disc Jockeys have described the late Harare socialite and business tycoon, Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure as a great mentor.
Ginimbi died in a terrible crash on Sunday morning in the capital Harare with three passengers as they were coming from a night party. The three have been identified as Moana, Elisha and Malawian Limumba Karim.
DJ Towers who could not control his emotions said Ginimbi was a great mentor and friend.
“I am at a loss for words.I have lost a great mentor and friend.I am in pain, I can’t say much at the moment,” said DJ Towers before breaking down.
DJ Tinotenda “Rimo” Marimo also described Ginimbi as an icon.
“He was my brother and a very close friend.I am devastated.
I understand my man was speeding but that’s life, you cannot avoid it (death).Nobody can run away from death.
Although it is painful, there is nothing we can do,” said DJ Rimo.
Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance Youth Assembly chairperson Tererai Obey Sithole has assured party supporters and the nation that he is out of danger.
Below is his statement:
Revolutionary salutations fellow compatriots.
Allow me to express my gratitude to you for the support, in all forms that you rendered to me following my unfortunate involvement in a road traffic accident.
I am forever indebted for the love and solidarity you extended and still extend to me. I can confirm that I am in a stable condition and recovering well from the injuries sustained.
I may be down but certainly not out, the struggle continues unabated. Zimbabwe shall be free!
As a male prophet says they prophesied Ginimbis death, the late's brother complains saying they want to set the record straight, even Genius already knew of this in advance, so nothing new – IS IT ETHICAL TO OMIT THE DECEASED's FAMILY'S WISHES IN NEWS HEADLINES?
To all our viewers, readers and listeners, we wish to thank you all who raised complaints raised concerning this headline late Sunday night. We would like to assure all that there has been in our view a deep family-to-community interest in this – the motive for this news analysis which was laid out over a 15 minute live session, was to help highlight a fraud- so to even stop it, perchance and this was after a certain prophet made claims of knowing of the death in advance.
It was in the interest of the deceased Genius Kadungure family that this news headline and the analysis thereof was carried. Ginimbi’s brother Timothy Kadungure made the complaint on Sunday following the throwing about of statements that they felt are hurtful.
By mid afternoon on Sunday the topic was already a major topic in the Zimbabwean community having also been published on several news sites, it was overwhelming and per judgement, unavoidable, such that the only way to fight perceptions around it the best approach was to take it head on.
We invite you to watch the review, and we will not hesitate to purge all content if this is not in the family or public interest.
Meanwhile, we have performed these type of analyses before. BRIEF BACKGROUND – Many fraudsters have gone into the practice of using the death calamity as a tool for marketing their services. This has seen several citizens later lose their lives. Over 128 have died as a result of following these prophets. One of the victims is the former MDC leader Greenwich Ndanga, who died in TB Joshua’s building 6 years ago. We are seized with the need for the nation to be alerted to these dangers. Please acquaint yourself with the live discussion over this program in which several studies are drawn. Please also check our work over the last 12 years as we have investigated these prophets and taken them head on.
We are guided by that: the principal tyrants of the Zimbabwean community who are arguably Spiritist Prophets commanding pseudo churches, are responsible for the cancerous culture of moral retrogression and these people are the chief sponsors of the political chaos. Through deception and the criminal pillars they have erected, they manipulate the people’s poverty (material and ideological) and suffering while directly sponsoring ruling politicians, as the world faces a new type of deadly Religious Extremism in which masses for instance are forced to eat poison as a religious ritual.
They are also responsible for destroying industry, severely marring government economics to facilitate their occult business – we have several live examples of collapsed industries.
These people who are a handful of mainly male occult leaders, will continue to destroy Zimbabwe and even the rest of Africa unless their acts are put to a stop now. In our position is also evidence of global criminal activities they are involved in which include money laundering, card crime, the endangering (even killing) of people en masse, and the trapping of millions of citizens under a state of terror and self defeat. This way, tyrants continue to thrive as people begin to act more like irrational animals and real humanity dissipate. In one video at a conference, for instance, a Zimbabwean preacher is seen instructing citizens to manipulate cash machines so that God can bless them. Unless this is stopped, Zimbabwe will not progress.
While we take up this role of exposing frauds and balancing opinions, we welcome all reviews and feedback that matter to our community. Sincerely – Editorial Moderators – ZimEye
Tinashe Sambiri|A young lady who claims to be the late Harare socialite and businessman Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure’s daughter has described her “dad’s death as devastating.”
The young lady has posted a photo of herself with Ginimbi, claiming she is the latter’s daughter.
In the picture she is seen hugging Ginimbi and she wrote:
“Why dad….Honestly broken with some crying emojis…”
By A Correspondent | The driver of the honda fit car that was crashed into by the late businessman Genius Kadungure was discharged the same day of the accident yesterday.
The driver, Lucky Chikwanda’s nephew who is the Councillor for Harare West, Denford Ngadziore, speaks out –
Video loading below….
On Lucky Chikwanda the owner of the Honda fit that collided with Ginimbi’s car.
I send my uttermost condolences to the Ginimbi family, friends and Zimbabweans for the sad loss of this patriot. Other deceased Maona, Karim and Elisha, the families and friends.
Around 10am I was shocked to see a message in a family WhatsApp group that that my uncle, Lucky Chikwanda was the one driving the Honda fit which collided with Ginimbi. This afternoon l visited my uncle Lucky Chikwanda soon after being discharged from Parirenyatwa Group of Hospital.
He is the brother to my Late mother. Several checks were done at the Hospital but he still complains of some pain on both right arm and leg.
https://youtu.be/3wGyaRtWswE
Acording to Uncle Lucky, Ginimbi was overspeeding on a steep curve and he tried to at once overtake three vehicles in front of him. When he was about to overtake the third vehicle the blue Honda fit which was being driven by Uncle Lucky which was coming from the opposite direction reduced speed and stopped in the middle of the road. It was during that time Ginimbi car collided with the Honda fit and immediately off road where it hit a trea before it caught fire.
In the Honda fit Khule lucky was in the campany of his male friend.
Please note that my uncle was not sent by anyone to cause the accident and is not a member of any political party. There are accusations being peddled on social media that the tragic death of Ginimbi and three others was deliberately caused by the driver of the Honda fit who was on agenda to cause death or harm the deceased.
My uncle is a Christian family man and has no such agenda to cause harm to anyone on this Mother Earth. Though he survived, he is actually a victim of overspeeding on a steep curve.
May the souls of the deceased rest in internal peace.
