Terrence Mawawa| A Shurugwi had the court gallery in stitches after threatening to commit suicide over the payment of a high maintenance figure.

Taurai Matsveru stunned the court when he said he was not in a position to pay $ 80 for the upkeep of his two children.

Matsveru told Magistrate Sangster Tavengwa he would commit suicide if he was forced to pay a high maintenance figure.

“You can send me to prison if possible.I am not prepared to pay the sum of $ 80.

The figure is too high or else I will commit suicide,” said Matsveru.

Despite his threats Matsveru was ordered to pay $ 120 for the upkeep of his children.
