Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| Residents of the city of Masvingo have accused city council bosses of spending the ratepayers’ hard earned money on posh vehicles while the roads in the ancient city are dilapidated.

Masvingo United Residents and Ratepayers Alliance (MURRA), spokesperson Godfrey Mtimba blamed city council officials for ignoring the plight of the ratepayers.

“Council bosses are neglecting ordinary residents. They are concentrating on maintaining roads in the leafy suburbs because they want to drive around comfortably.

The council bigwigs do not pay even a single cent yet the residents who pay monthly rates are suffering.

We are calling on the council to the repair roads in the high density suburbs as soon as possible,” Mtimba told a local community radio station.
