Four rebellious MDC officials in Midlands Province have vowed to stand as independent candidates despite being warned of impending expulsion by
party officials.

Four MDC candidates in Shurugwi, Dickson Chioko ward 2, Godfrey Marisa, ward 4, Bulle Madzitire, ward 4 and Pastor Saide Alubi will stand as independent candidates despite the directive from the party leadership to all rebellious officials to withdraw their papers.

A campaign manager for one of the candidates accused MDC leader Nelson Chamisa of imposing his will on the ordinary party members.

“My brother there is no going back on the issue of independent candidates. You think they will withdraw their nomination papers it is too late to do so,” said the MDC official.
