By Rumbidzai Madhibha| Government in partnership with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority have named Zimbabwe-born Springbok star Tendai Mtawarira as the new Tourism Ambassador for Zimbabwe.
The rugby player well known as ‘The Beast’, received the tourism ambassador honorary role at a Harare hotel at an event graced by the Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Priscah Mupfumira.
In his acceptance speech, Mtawarira who has been on the spotlight as one of the best rugby players internationally said as the new tourism ambassador it will be easier for him to take Zimbabwean tourism to greater heights considering he has always been on the spotlight in promoting brand Zimbabwe through rugby.
“When I am done with my games out there I am going to talk and bring my friends and their families here. I think a lot of people out there, a lot of young men who have left the country should also come back and be hands-on in building brand Zimbabwe.
And I am so excited to be part and parcel of the country’s tourism and I promise I am going to get involved in any tourism initiative be it on social media because I am prepared to give 110 percent effort on this job. “
