Paul Nyathi|President Mnangagwa has officially opened the second phase of the Varun Beverages manufacturing plant this afternoon.
The second phase was completed at a cost of US$20 million.
Of note, Mnangagwa appeared in public at the company without his “traditional” scarf for the first time in over two years.
The company reportedly employs over 1 000 people and has empowered more than 2 000 women as part of its community social responsibility.
Varun Beverages manufactures carbonated drinks which include Pepsi, Mirinda (all flavours) Mountain Dew and Seven Up.
Varun Beverages is the largest bottler of PepsiCo products —Pepsi, Mirinda, Mountain Dew and Seven Up outside the United States.
Zimbabwe’s market is dominated by Delta Corporation, which has been failing to meet local demand for beverages due to foreign currency shortages.
