MDC ALLIANCE ASSEMBLY OF WOMEN STATEMENT ON RECALL OF OUR MPs BY THOKOZANI KHUPE

The MDC Alliance Assembly of Women learnt with great shock the recalling of our MPs namely Hon C Hwende, the Secretary General, Hon T Khumalo, the National Chair and Leader of the House, Hon Mutseyami, the Chief Whip in the House of Assembly and lastly Hon Timvious, the Chief Whip in the Senate by Thokozani Khupe.

What astonished us is that Khupe has her own party MDC T which contested in the 2018 elections and got 1 PR MP and 1 Senator whilst on the other hand we went to the same elections as MDC Alliance and got our MPs and Senators as well, so she had no right to recall our MPs. We know that Zanu PF has its hand on all this as it tries very hard to destabilise our party and our President.

We therefore would want to categorically state that we are standing in solidarity with our MPs and our President Advocate Nelson Chamisa and no amount of threats will deter us from focusing on liberating this country as the backbone of the party. We will remain resolute and steadfast as we fight for our rights and freedoms.

We therefore urge all the women structures to stay on the alert as we await direction from the leadership on the wayforward. Nothing can stop the idea whose time has come. Aluta continua! Amandla!
