Press Statement on the illegal recalling of our MPs from parliament.

The MDC Students Council is utterly dismayed by the brazen, shameless and desperate attempt to destroy the people’s party by illegally recalling four MDC Alliance MPs namely honourables Charlton Hwende, Thabitha Khumalo, Prosper Mutseyami and Senator Lilian Timveous.

The illegal recall which was engineered by Mwonzora and political lightweight Morgan Komichi working in cahoots with ZANU PF to destroy the people’s party is a contemptuous, disrespectful and cynical move which must be treated with the contempt it deserves.

The four were not elected under the MDC-T ticket, they were elected on the MDC Alliance ticket.

The MDC-T contested as a separate political party and dismally performed in the elections. It is therefore utter undiluted hogwash for Mwonzora to recall the four MPs.

It is Mwonzora and his political lightweight partner, Komichi who must be recalled from parliament because they have ceased to represent the interests of the MDC Alliance by going to bed with a rival political which is led by Thokozani Khupe.

It is clear as daylight that this is a desperate move by the Mwonzora cabal which has failed to win the support of party structures following the duplicitous corona judgement by the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe. The cabal has been surreptitiously travelling across the country during this lockdown with the brazen assistance of the security forces trying to buy the support of party structures using money.

They have failed and have now resorted to intimidation tactics using the recall procedure to intimidate MPs who are strongly behind President Nelson Chamisa so as to win their support.
Mwonzora and Komichi will not succeed.

They will harvest nothing. Theirs will be a bitter harvest, a harvest of thorns! As the MDC Students Council we would like to remind Mwonzora and cabal that they can never win the support of party structures through intimidation.

They can never impose themselves as leaders of the party. In fact the party structures have rejected and jettisoned them as witnessed by the outcome of the Gweru congress.

We are firmly and solidly behind the structures elected in May 2019 at the Gweru congress under the able leadership of President Nelson Chamisa.

The party cannot be allowed to die and will not die. We will save it.
