The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana, has denied reports that President Emmerson Mnangagwa gifted Ankole cattle to Botswana’s President, Duma Boko.

On Tuesday, the Botswana newspaper Tuesday Grill reported that Mnangagwa had presented 10 Ankole cattle to President Boko during a SADC meeting, as a gesture of congratulations for his historic victory in the general election. The report also mentioned that Boko had not transported the cattle to Botswana, as he is not a farmer.

In response to these claims, Mangwana commented: “President [Mnangagwa] did not give President [Duma Boko] Ankole cattle.”

Following the report, Emang Mutapati, the Press Secretary to the President of Botswana, issued a statement dismissing the claims as “baseless and unfounded.”

Despite the rebuttal from Botswana’s government, Tuesday Grill has reaffirmed its commitment to the accuracy of its reporting. In a subsequent statement, the publication insisted, “We stand by our original story,” reiterating their confidence in the facts presented.
