problems, which are  spilling to the training according to  H-Metro

the player is on a destructive path.

“I think last week Ocean had a headache problem.

He skipped three training days.

This week he had some family issues, he never

It is estimated  estimated that Dembare owe him more than $ 16 000.

Mushure’s absence, critics say,

BREAKING: Court Orders Charumbira To Be Disciplined For ZANU PF Utterances

Chief Fortune Charumbira

By Paul Nyathi|The High Court has ordered the Ministry of Local Government to effect immediate disciplinary measures on Chiefs Council President Chief Fortune Charumbira for his utterances calling on all chiefs to facilitates votes for ZANU PF.

The court further ordered Charumbira to issue a retraction statement on his utterances within seven days.

Charumbira was dragged to the High Court by the Election Resource Centre (ERC) demanding for him to retract the statement.

Charumbira, the National Council of Chiefs and Local Government minister July Moyo were cited as the respondents.

Trust Maanda, who is ERC’s chairperson of the board of trustees, in his affidavit had said that Charumbira’s statements demanding chiefs to support Zanu PF were unlawful and unconstitutional.

“The respondent (Charumbira) has acted unlawfully and moreover has failed in his constitutional duty to respect and uphold the Constitution of Zimbabwe by staying nonpartisan and away from party politics, to respect the institution of traditional leadership and not bring the institution into disrepute and to not infringe the rights and fundamental freedoms of people,” read his court submission.

The court ordered Charumbira to retract the statements he made by publishing a counter statement in a newspaper with national circulation, on national radio and on national television.

Drama As Woman Tells Gutu, “If Khupe Wins 3% Of Vote I Swear I’ll Be Your Wife!”

By Own Correspondent| A Zimbabwean woman has offered her wifehood to Thokozani Khupe’s deputy should she manage at least 3% of the national vote in the upcoming elections.

The beautiful Sarah Chiwara wrote to Obert Gutu on Twitter saying, “speaking the Truth is Khupe gets 3% of the vote…Gutu ndouya ndoita mukadzi wako.”

The development comes after MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa swore to trade his sister if Mnangagwa wins 5% of the vote, something he said was impossible.

CSOs Say Charumbira Is Not Honourable Enough For PAP.

Statement By The Crisis In Zimbabwe Coalition|Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CiZC), a coordinating body for civic society organizations in Zimbabwe hereby announces its reservations on the candidature of Zimbabwe’s President of the Chiefs Council, Fortune Charumbira, , for the presidency of the Pan African Parliament (PAP).

Our position against Charumbira’s candidature is not in any way personal but re-emphasizes our commitment to the rule of law and democracy.

The PAP, among its founding values, seeks to cultivate human rights, good governance, transparency and accountability in member states and CiZC would like to reiterate that the culture of respect for human rights and the constitution will be at stake if a person implicated in disregard of the very same virtues is to assume top leadership of the institution.

Charumbira stands accused of violating the constitution of Zimbabwe by openly declaring on numerous occasions, his allegiance to the ruling party, Zanu (PF) in direct violation of Section 281 (2) of the Zimbabwean constitution which stipulates that traditional leaders must not participate in partisan politics or further the interests of any political party or cause.

Despite numerous outcries from pro-democracy groups, Charumbira has gone further to mobilize chiefs around the country to support Zanu (PF) and those that defy his order are often victimized in one way or the other.

His continued violation of the country’s constitution – by mobilizing chiefs to support the ruling Zanu PF party against the dictates of the Zimbabwean constitution- stands as one of the major obstacles to credible elections in Zimbabwe and entrusting him with the leadership of the PAP would set a bad precedence.

Chiefs aligned to the ruling party, Zanu (PF) have been among the instigators of violence in Zimbabwe, especially during election times and Charumbira’s actions makes him complicit in the persecution of opposition activists in the countryside.

In doing so, he is therefore implicated in the trail of violence, abuses and heinous acts that characterized successive elections that kept the ruling party in power.

CiZC would like to draw the attention of the PAP membership to the fact that Charumbira has a pending court case, where he stands accused of violating the constitution. This makes him a high reputational risk for the organization.

CiZC’s firm position is that Chief Charumbira cannot be entrusted with upholding PAP principles which he himself has failed to uphold in his homeland.

It is from this vintage point of view that CiZC wishes to call upon all democracy loving and law abiding peoples of Africa, within and without her borders to realize that the election bid of Charumbira is a danger of the principles and values of the PAP and stand ready to defend the strategic institution from capture by elements who are bent at destroying progressive institutions for selfish ends.

CiZC therefore calls for unity of purpose in defending the integrity and reputation of the esteemed institution. In our view, the values and principles of constitutionalism and rule of law are on test.

Britain’s Advisor On Girl-Rights Backs Chamisa, Nero Said Nothing Wrong At All

By Farai D Hove| One of the UK government’s top advisors on female rights, has reiterated her backing of MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa saying his statement (last Saturday) on betting his 18 year old sister on a Mnangagwa 5% election win, was not at all in bad taste.

Muzvare Betty Makoni said, Chamisa used deep cultural expressions to convey an important message.

Below was Makoni’s written rendition on the subject:
Muzvare Hazviperi Betty Makoni’s explanation on case scenario used at political rally by Advocate Chamisa

I was at UK Rally on 6 May 2018. I listened to Advocate Chamisa when he made a case scenario in his speech about a “brother” and in this case him and politician CONTEMPLATING marrying off a sister. He said his opponent had a very hard time ahead of getting 5% of an election vote and then getting his sister in marriage. That was part 1 case scenario. Then case scenario part 2 was when he presented same “brother” saying his opponent had been asked to do a mammoth task and one that is IMPOSSIBLE too as you know marrying off a sister is IMPOSSIBLE.He emphasised that his opponent would never get 5% of a free and fair vote and no wonder his earlier pledge was deliberately an IMPOSSIBLE one.

1. The video clip circulated earlier to raise a storm was just part 1of the whole case scenario. It was not complete for anyone to understand context of his main message IMPOSSIBLE to marry off a sister passed on in part 2 of his case scenario.

2. A case scenario is what it is. You can dramatise it ,write it as a story, imitate those who force girls to marry etc. But ultimately the goal is to evoke critical thinking on both social and political matters. In this case, Advocate Chamisa was comparing an Impossible social issue and a political one. Using an example of a “brother” contemplating this harmful cultural practice was in no way pointing to harm but drawing a message that we all aware marrying off sisters is IMPOSSIBLE.

3. If using a case scenario of a girl pledged to marriage is what is causing the storm, then those who were not at the rally like myself should know that no girl would ever be married to anyone at all in this case scenario as brother clearly explained that marrying off a sister is IMPOSSIBLE. This case scenario in its totality was not in any way a campaign to marry off girls but to show how IMPOSSIBLE it is. It was a dramatisation to show things that are IMPOSSIBLE especially marrying off a sister.

4.There are no safeguarding concerns at all and my networks of girls across the world will not be hooked into making statements where a man chose to use forced marriage in his case scenario as a way to demonstrate what is IMPOSSIBLE. There was nothing really to evidence any intention to marry off a “sister”. This was case scenario to compare two extreme situations.

5. This case scenario and the way it was presented is not figurative at all. It is a clear statement that lots of families marry off girls but for this brother he would task opponent what he knows is impossible. Then as Advocate Chamisa rightly said, It should be IMPOSSIBLE to marry off a sister and his message was crystal clear.

I have used case scenarios to raise awareness myself. I have used drama to raise awareness.I have used personal testimony to bring realities of girls. The message we got from Advocate Chamisa is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to marry off a sister. It should not be complicated for anyone to understand his case scenario is bringing a message of people who force the IMPOSSIBLE on girls and he clearly showed what IMPOSSIBLE things people try to do.

That said the work ahead of us is to go into real life of poor and marginalised girls and tell their families that it is IMPOSSIBLE to marry them off as Advocate Chamisa clearly stated in his message. IMPOSSIBLE is ultimate message that Advocate Chamisa said. The message was clear and loud. This one you cant twist it at all.

VIDEO ROLL: Mugabe To Appear Before Parliament Over Missing $15Billion Diamonds

By Dorrothy Moyo| As his CIOs were grilled this week, Zimbabwe’s founding president Robeet Mugabe is to appear before parliament to answer for the missing diamond revenue which leaked under his watch.

The chair of the parliamentary portfolio, MP Temba Mliswa announced that Mugabe previously scheduled to appear today, will still appear before the committee on Mines.

Today’s schedule flopped after the clerk of Parliament did not write to Mugabe to invite him to appear.

Mliswa said, “it has been delayed but that resolution still stands. He will have to appear before the committee whether he likes it or not.”

Meanwhile below is the latest video roll on the hearings which as ZimEye reveals, have seen top CIO and police bosses being grilled:

Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) bosses were grilled for entering into a joint diamond-mining deal known as Sino-Zim, with Chinese convict Sam Pa, without doing a proper due diligence check on his background.

Sino-Zim operated a diamond mine known as Kusena Diamonds in the Chiadzwa area.

Kusena Diamonds board member Genius Madzingira (CIO) and Sino-Zim board member Pritchard Zhou and Kusena vice board chairperson Regiment Ruzende had a torrid time explaining to the committee issues pertaining to their entering into business with Sam Pa. The CIO officials also gave conflicting statements and cited their former boss Happyton Bonyongwe as the only person who used to deal with Sam Pa.

Chamisa Warns Britain, Zim Can’t Have Stability Without Democracy

MDC-T leader, Nelson Chamisa yesterday warned the United Kingdom that Zimbabwe needs to have democracy before any stability happens.

He said backing President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the backdrop of assumed political stability would be unsustainable.

Chamisa warned that this approach could in effect lead to instability.

Chamisa was speaking at the Chatham House thinktank in London and he said,

“We have seen that there has been a bit of a shift on the part of the British government in terms of focusing more on political stability and trade and commerce at the expense of democracy. But that is a false narrative, you can never have stability without democracy.

“We expect Britain and the EU to speak for free and fair elections. There’s a very disturbing trend in the context of the British government in Zimbabwe. We’re seeing the inclination to align with one political party against another. That is disturbing, particularly in terms of the issue of just setting the basic standard for free and fair elections.

“Because for a long time, the British government has been emphasising norms, values — let those norms and values of free and fair elections be respected. That is all we want — we’re not asking for money. We’re asking for the solidarity of a global coalition for free and fair elections.”

President Mnangagwa Speaks On Qatar Trip, Says “Jobs And Cash Coming to Zimbabwe”

Below is President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s statement soon after arriving from Qatar:

During my recent successful trip to Qatar, we made crucial progress in a number of fields. Zimbabwe is well and truly on the world map. Everywhere I go investors are excited to be part of our new order; as this continues, jobs and cash will follow.

I also had the unique opportunity to meet and address some of the local Zimbabwean diaspora.

Zimbabweans are flocking home in their masses, as once again our homeland becomes a land of real opportunity for all.

Grace Mugabe Prosecution Latest: SA Court Opens Case On Appeal

By Agencies| The case to hear an application for the prosecution of Zimbabwe’s former first lady Grace Mugabe opens tomorrow.

The case involves an assault case last year August which saw Grace being granted immunity by the  SA government.

AfriForum’s lawyer, Willie Spies said the challenge is the first process to have Grace Mugabe prosecuted for the alleged assault on South African model, Gabrielle Engels, with an electric cord.

The case is to be heard in the North Gauteng High Court on Thursday and Friday.

The incident happened in an upmarket hotel in Sandton.

Spies told reporters, “Should AfriForum be successful in having this diplomatic immunity to Mugabe set aside, it will pave the way for the NPA to take steps to ultimately prosecute Mugabe. AfriForum indicated earlier that its private prosecuting unit under the leadership of Advocate Gerrie Nel stands ready to institute private prosecution should the NPA decide not to prosecute Mugabe.

Chiyangwa Flops As FIFA Orders ZIFA To Hold Elections

The Zifa committee led by Phillip Chiyangwa’s attempts to stop elections have flopped with the world governing body, FIFA ordering that elections be held this year “as soon as possible.”

The committee comprises Chiyangwa, his deputy Omega Sibanda, treasurer Philimon Machana and Women’s Football head, Rosemary Kanonge.

ZIFA had sought to postpone elections. But FIFA has replied ordering them to hold elections “as soon as possible.”

Chiyangwa’s had claimed he still has two more years to serve. He was elected as ZIFA president in December 2015 to finish off Cuthbert Dube’s term.

FIFA said, “We can confirm that Fifa has sent a letter to Zifa on 24 April (2018) informing them that given that the current Zifa executive committee inherited the four-year mandate of the previous executive committee under Mr Cuthbert Dube that began in March 2014, elections of a new Zifa executive committee should take place as soon as possible in accordance with the Zifa statutes and regulations. Consequently and in accordance with article 2 letter C of the Zifa electoral code, the incumbent Zifa executive committee remains until the next election. We have no further comment.”

Chief Accuses Obert Mpofu Of Stealing Royal Cattle, Mpofu Sues For $300K

Chief Nhlanhla Ndiweni

By Paul Nyathi|The war between Chief Nhlanhlayamangwe Khayisa Ndiweni and Home Affairs Minister Obert Mpofu appears to be getting deeper everyday.

The latest wrangle between the two has turned into the country’s courts with Chief Ndiweni giving evidence that Mpofu hates him because he revealed that Mpofu stole 200 of his father’s cattle.

Chief Ndiweni of Ntabazinduna made the remarks on Monday while testifying before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Gladmore Mushove in case in which he is facing charges of malicious damage to property.

Chief Ndiweni together with 23 other villagers allegedly destroyed a local villager, Mr Fetti Mbele’s homestead.

He told the court that Dr Mpofu was fighting against him and his co-accused persons because he “stole his father’s 200 cattle.”

Chief Ndiweni said they reported the matter at Mbembesi Police Station where the papers “disappeared” under unclear circumstances.

Dr Mpofu through his lawyer Mr Byron Sengweni of Sengweni Legal Practice yesterday filed summons at the Bulawayo High Court citing Chief Ndiweni as the defendant.

The Minister said the utterances by Chief Ndiweni caused damage to his reputation as a respected public official. He wants an order directing Chief Ndiweni to pay $300 000 in damages suffered for defamation as a result of the utterances.

He also seeks an order directing Chief Ndiweni to retract the defamatory utterances within 48 hours of the granting of order.

In the court papers, Dr Mpofu’s lawyer said the remarks by Chief Ndiweni were extremely defamatory and tainted his image as a politician of high integrity.

“On 7 May 2018 and at the Bulawayo Magistrate’s Court, the defendant while giving evidence uttered defamatory words implying that the plaintiff (Dr Mpofu) was a thief. The defendant’s intention was to defame Dr Mpofu and injure his reputation,” said Mr Sengweni.

He said his client has nothing to do with the defendant’s ongoing criminal proceedings.

“The defendant had full knowledge of the wrongfulness and defamatory nature of his statement because he refused to retract it even after the State had requested him to do so,” said Mr Sengweni.

Dr Mpofu is claiming $300 000 from the defendant and wants Chief Ndiweni to pay the legal costs.

Chief Ndiweni has not yet responded to the summons. The chief and the 23 villagers allegedly pulled down a fence at Mr Mbele’s homestead and destroyed his cattle kraal.

Mr Mbele was banished from the village after his wife Ms Nonkangelo Mpengesi was allegedly caught having sex with another villager.

Chief Ndiweni then ruled that Mr Mbele and his “adulterous” wife should be banished from Sifelani village, saying ‘prostitution’ will not be tolerated in his area. They destroyed Mr Mbele’s property after he defied his order to leave the village.

Chamisa Rehearsing For State House, “Inspects Guard Of Honour” Daily

MDC-T vanguard inspected daily by chants Chamisa

By Paul Nyathi|Confident opposition MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa says that he is already preparing to be the President of the country and is rehearsing inspecting the guard of honour everyday.

Addressing Zimbabweans in the United Kingdom on Monday, Chamisa said that he does not want to make diplomatic etiquette blunders and embarass himself as did his predecessor MDC-T founding President Morgan Tsvangirai.

Said Chamisa: “Ini ndiri kugadzirira; ndiri kunetseka mazuva ano. Every morning, ndiri kumuka ndichidzidzira kuti kana wakuita guard of honour unoiita sei. Mudhara Tsvangirai iyo nyaya yekusadzidzira iyi akazombouya kuna (Angela) Merkel (Germany Chancellor), Merkel ari kuenda nekuku, idzo dziri kuenda nekuku.

“Ndobva ndati ko chiiko change chakuitika? Zvikanzi ‘haa zvinonetsa mhani izvi! (I am preparing; I am troubled these days. Every morning, I wake up practicing how to inspect a guard of honour. Tsvangirai, through not practicing, once came to visit Merkel (Angela), and while Merkel was going this way, he was going the other way. And I later asked him what had gone wrong and he said: “This is difficult”),” Chamisa said.

Only One Week Of Beer Stock Left In Zim

Patricia Murambinda Delta Beverages Marketing Manager

Imbibers and soft drink lovers are headed for hard times as the products are fast running out on supermarket shelves amid revelations that the country’s biggest producer, Delta Beverages was left with raw materials to last only one week.

Beer and soft drinks like Coca-Cola have been in short supply throughout country for the past few weeks with retailers and bar owners resorting to the black market to fill the shelves.

Responding to questions sent through an email yesterday, Delta Corporation Ltd, corporate affairs executive Mrs Patricia Murambinda said the beverages manufacturer was facing critical shortage of raw materials especially for Coca-Cola and those for Chibuku.

She said the raw materials were imported and the company has accrued debts with suppliers some of whom have since stopped supplies to force payments.

“We advise that the supply of Coca-Cola concentrates and other imported materials remain critical for the business. We were able to pick up a small order of concentrates from the available credit last week with the supplier which we are currently running,” she said.

Mrs Murambinda said the available raw materials for Coca-Cola products can only last for one week with the pipeline for packaging the product continuing to run dry.

“This (available raw materials) is expected to cover production for a week and is not sufficient to cover the end pipeline that has become very dry,” she said.

Mrs Murambinda said the same challenge was affecting the production of opaque beer such as Chibuku.

“This is a similar situation with Chibuku where our supplier of Chibuku Super bottles has to import resin, a key component of the bottle,’ she said.

She said her organisation has a backlog in paying its suppliers, a development which has resulted in some of them suspending supplies of raw materials.

“This is impacting on our production operations. We continue to make presentations to RBZ and our banks for priority forex payments,” she said.

Chamisa Wows Oxford Union

Chamisa at Oxford Union

MDC-T President Adv. Nelson Chamisa has said that the biggest challenge facing Africa is the challenge of leadership but the MDC is giving Zimbabweans a fighting chance in the upcoming elections to avoid the country’s citizens from sliding into the same trap of failed leadership.

In his Oxford Union address in the United Kingdom yesterday, where he charmed the crowd with his vision and novel policy programme for Zimbabwe, the people’s leader said Africa had fallen into a severe crisis of leadership.

“Everything in Africa rises or falls with leadership. Once we get leadership right, everything else goes right. The shortage in Africa is not a shortage of resources, but a shortage in leadership which is manifesting itself in a shortage of many things. When you see diseases in Africa, you are not seeing disease but a death of leadership. How do we cure that? We cure it by making sure we put Zimbabwe on a path to a free and fair election. We have put certain benchmarks to achieve that free and fair election,” he added.

The MDC and its Alliance partners have made 10 demands in their Plan and Environment for A Credible election in Zimbabwe (PEACE) document to ensure that the country holds truly free, fair and credible elections in the next few months.

“We are giving a fighting chance to the people of Zimbabwe as we go into this election. Why am I saying so? We are saying so because we know in any struggle we must be able to stand up and be counted and to define a narrative to which people have to come through. We did it before as a people. During the liberation struggle, we forgot about race, we forgot about class, we forgot about tribe, we forgot about all the other classes that may separate us to look at the great idea of liberation. We achieved that liberation,” President Chamisa said.

He said it is sad that that struggle was checked halfway because of poor leadership and selfishness by those who assumed leadership after independence.

“Unfortunately, that liberation was checked halfway, why? Because of exhausted nationalism. Why? Because we had those who came into power failing to realize that occupying power is not for self-empowerment or self-entitlement. Title is not for the self but for others. We have not done things for others but for ourselves,” he added.

He added that because of such attitudes towards leadership, Africa remains stuck in an era of extreme poverty for the majority of its people.

“This has been the biggest problem on the African continent. That when leaders assume positions of responsibility they forget that the primary objective is service and sacrifice. And they begin to think about themselves, building a parasitic elite that is focusing on self-aggrandizement at the expense of the populace. That is what we need to cure” he added.

He added that there has been change without change in Zimbabwe as the ‘new dispensation’ was simply a reproduction of the old, tyrannical system. He said that he respected the young Mugabe but had reservations of the old Mugabe who betrayed the reason why he participated in the liberation struggle.

“I have a lot of respect of Robert Mugabe the young, though I do not have any respect for Robert Mugabe the old, because he betrayed the ideals of Robert Mugabe the young, who was a liberation icon. I suppose there is something wrong with age, but I don’t think so. Age comes with wisdom, but for Mr. Mugabe, age came alone. And these are the things we want to make sure we are able to deal with.

The People’s President, Nelson Chamisa was addressing students at the Oxford Union. The Oxford Union, is a debating society in the city of Oxford, England, whose membership is drawn primarily from the University of Oxford.

President Chamisa is in the UK where he addressed Zimbabweans in Bedford. He will take the opportunity of his presence in the UK to interact with Zimbabweans, UK government officials as well as address various think tanks.

He returns to Zimbabwe later this week.

Mangoma Seeks To Nullify Dodgy Electoral Law

By Talent Gondo| Renewal Democrats of Zimbabwe (RDZ) leader, Elton Mangoma has petitioned the Constitutional Court (ConCourt) seeking an order to be allowed to present a substantive application to nullify some defective provisions of the Electoral Act.

According to the application, Mangoma seeks to nullify these provisions and align them with the Constitution before the promulgation of a proclamation for the 2018 harmonised elections.

Through his lawyer Chris Mhike, a member of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, Mangoma, filed an application for direct access to the ConCourt on Wednesday 02 May 2018.

“Mangoma is seeking an order to be allowed to present a substantive application, whose effect would be to nullify some offending legislative provisions of the Electoral Act on account of their inconsistency with the Constitution,” said the ZLHR in a statement.

Mangoma wants the ConCourt to grant him leave to exercise direct access to the apex court for a determination of relevant constitutional questions regarding the Electoral Act.

He has requested to be allowed to file an application in the ConCourt seeking an order to compel Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Hon. Ziyambi Ziyambi to ensure a comprehensive amendment of the current electoral law by the legislature ahead of the 2018 harmonised elections, so as to align pertinent provisions of the Electoral Act with the Constitution in terms of section 117(1) of the Constitution.

In the application, Mangoma argued that various provisions of the Electoral Act are out of sync with several constitutional provisions relating to the Electoral Act.

Justice minister Hon Ziyambi Ziyambi, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), Chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba and Attorney-General Advocate Prince Machaya have been cited as respondents.

Mangoma, who argued that his application is in the interests of justice, also wants the ConCourt to compel Hon. Ziyambi, ZEC and Justice Chigumba to ensure compliance with elections related provisions of the Constitution by relevant electoral officials.

Mangoma has listed some of the offending legislative provisions of the Electoral Act as sections 9(2), 9(5), 12(1), 18(5), 23, 26A, 27, 33, 35, 40H, 40I, 55, 59, 116, 117, 118 and 156 of the Electoral Act.

FULL TEXT: NPF Responds To Mugabe Appointing Chamisa Age Mate For Leadership

Statement on purported leadership changes at NPF

Harare-08 May 2018-We have noted recent media reports and alleged statements by anonymous, yet ‘impeccable’, sources and some excitable NPF officials purporting to speak on behalf of the party on the subject of leadership change within our fast growing party.

It is regrettable that these patently reckless statements at public forums and clandestine interviews, done nocturnally, have been taken as official party position when in fact the NPF has a clear operational structure that deals with leadership identification as we grow our party.

It is pertinent that we make it clear that the current leadership structure is born out of a deliberate process involving the founders of the party whose mandate, at this formative stage, is to identify competent and dedicated cadres to fill in important positions in the party and that process has always been led by our President, Retired Brigadier General Ambrose Mutinhiri.

Attempts by some cadres, identified and appointed to specific roles by the party’s founders, to arrogate themselves powers to impose leaders of their choice is patently unconstitutional as these appointed officials have not been subjected to any electoral process themselves.

As a party we remain committed to building our fast growing support base within the provisions of our constitution and the various transitional clauses that deal with how the founding leadership should be constituted.
We are focussed on wining the forthcoming harmonised elections and we are doing everything that we believe boosts the party’s chances of winning these elections. If there is need for leadership reconfiguration, in line with our election strategy, that process will be led by President Mutinhiri and other founding members of the party.

The NPF has a clear vision of restoring the country to constitutionalism. We are geared towards putting an end to the stratocracy introduced by the military coup of November 15 2017.

We believe in the need to empower our people through policies that recognise the important role that our local human factor plays in building the local economy.

We are aware of the plight of beneficiaries of the the land reform, indigenisation and economic empowerment who are being threatened through policy reversal by the Junta regime that has been selling our resources to unscrupulous and doggy characters, some of whom are known criminals.

NPF is therefore dedicated to creating a conducive investment environment on the back of a constitutional regime that respects the rule of law, fundamental human and property rights, the sanctity of life and the importance of a democratic and free society.

Obert Mpofu Stole My Father’s 200 Cattle

OME Affairs and Culture Minister Dr Obert Mpofu has filed a $300 000 lawsuit against Chief Felix Nhlanhla Ndiweni for claiming that he stole 200 cattle before making a docket, which was opened against him disappear.

They destroyed Mr Mbele’s property after he defied his order to leave the village.- state media

Crocodile Attack Bride Discharged From Hospital

A woman whose hand had to be amputated following a crocodile attack while canoeing on the Zambezi River five days before her wedding last week, has been discharged from hospital.

Mrs Zanele Ndlovu-Fox, who got married to her sweetheart Mr Jamie Fox in a heart warming ceremony at Mater Dei hospital chapel on Saturday, was discharged from the institution on Monday evening.
The ever cheerful newly-wed wrote on her Whatsapp status that she was discharged and thanked her friends and family for their love and support.

A family spokesperson that was in touch with The Chronicle said Mrs Ndlovu-Fox was recovering at a private place and would be seeing her doctors.
The couple in an earlier interview said they would be going to the United Kingdom where Mr Fox is based.

Asked where they would be having their honeymoon, the lovebirds chuckled and said it was their little secret.

“We can’t share the location, you guys might just follow us with your cameras there, we won’t take that risk. It’s a beautiful place and our own little secret,” she said amid laughter.
The story of the lovebirds has caught global media attention and they are trending on many online news platforms.
The Chronicle has received interesting feedback from readers who have been following the story and were commending the couple for defying the predicaments and obstacles by proceeding with their wedding as planned.

Mrs Ndlovu-Fox was attacked by a crocodile while she was canoeing on the upper Zambezi with her fiancé’s family who had come for the wedding from the United Kingdom. She was airlifted to a hospital in Victoria Falls before being transferred to Mater Dei hospital.
Her right arm had to be amputated due to the horrific injury she sustained.

“Everything is almost sorted and we are going home very soon. Our love story is amazing and I knew she was the one way before I even proposed to her. I’m a happy man,” said Mr Fox.

“I Am Clean”: Says Kasukuwere

“Zimbabwe is my country and when I decide on my own to go back to my country I will,” said Kasukuwere in a tweet.

“I don’t need to seek permission from anyone.”

He said he was criminally clean hence had no reason to worry about coming back to Zimbabwe.

“I have no criminal charge to worry about,” he said.

Kasukuwere’s tweet follows former Higher and Tertiary Education Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo’s allegations that Kasukuwere has for the past 6 months been negotiating with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration to forgive him for past atrocities committed under the wing of his former ally, Mugabe.

Mutasa Smartly Demoted By Promotion

Substituted by elimination Lloyd Mutasa

By Paul Nyathi|Dynamos head coach Lloyd Mutasa has smartly eliminated from his position following a string of poor results on the onset of the season.

The executive “promoted” Mutasa from being Head Coach to a less fashionable and undefined position of Director Of Coaching replacing him with former coach Biggie Zuze.

Dynamos had seen its worst start to the Premier League winning only twice in nine games and spending much of the time at the bottom of the log.

Mutasa who had still not given up hope on his youthful side kept insisting that the team was going through a dark phase which it was going to pass quickly and return to winning ways.

Two weeks ago he was given an ultimatum to win his next three games only for him to win two and lose one resulting in his redeployment.

Opposition Activist Raps Zanu PF For Protecting ‘Thieves’

Terrence Mawawa

MDC official Stanley Manguma has castigated the ruling party Zanu PF for providing a hub for ‘thieves and fraudsters.’

Manguma said:
“I will repeat this, It’s so sad to say this but the
truth must be said. Most Zimbabweans are so
cursed and brainwashed that’s why Zanu PF can
still use the same lies to win elections.

Elias Musakwa was on that list of
externalised money yet he won the primary elections.

Terence Mukupe is a violent guy but he is ensconced within the Zanu PF structures.”

“Ziyambi Ziyambi is also a violent guy.

Zanu PF is full of
thieves and old people who only want to exploit the desperate people of Zimbabwe,”added Manguma.

“The new NELSON of Southern
Africa, MDC Alliance Presidential Candidate
Advocate Nelson Chamisa will be on BBC Hard
Talk on Thursday Stay Tuned.

There is no doubt that Southern Africa has found a new Nelson,” wrote Manguma.

Top Politician Gets Life Imprisonment For $27m Corruption

Sun Zhengcai, a former political high-flyer once tipped to be among China’s next generation of leaders, was sentenced to life in prison for bribery in a northern city on Tuesday.

The Tianjin No 1 Intermediate People’s Court said Sun was convicted of taking more than 170 million yuan (US$26.7 million) in bribes directly or through designated third parties, state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

He was also stripped of his political rights for life, and all his property and illicit gains confiscated, the report said.

Sun, 54, pleaded guilty at his trial on April 12 and would not appeal against the sentence, state television reported.

“I sincerely confess to and regret the crimes [I committed]. [I] accept the court’s verdict [and] will not appeal,” Sun said in court in footage aired by China Central Television. “I will earnestly accept re-education.”

The amount of bribes involved was punishable by death but the court said it took mitigating factors into account, including that most of the bribes were taken by “designated parties” and that Sun gave investigators additional, previously unknown information about his crimes.

The court said Sun committed the crimes while he was a district Communist Party boss in Beijing in 2002, when he was the minister of agriculture, and during his stints as party chief of northeastern Jilin province and the megacity of Chongqing.

The court said Sun took advantage of his position to seek profits for others, including helping others to win project tenders, secure government approvals on projects and gain promotions.

Sun was sacked as Chongqing’s party boss in July and placed under investigation for corruption in the run-up to the party’s national leadership reshuffle in October.

He was the youngest member of the Politburo at 25 before he was expelled and was once widely considered a strong candidate to sit on the Politburo Standing Committee, the Chinese leadership’s inner sanctum.

Mugabe Is Still Ruling: Chamisa

By Talent Gondo| Despite being physically removed from office by the junta led administration, Former President Robert is still at the helm of power, MDC T leader Nelson Chamisa has said.

Addressing Chatham House in the United Kingdom, Chamisa said while Mugabe had been chucked out from office and was no longer physically visible as head of state, his dictatorship system was still embedded within Zimbabwean systems and clearly visible in the country’s social, political and economic spheres.

“Yes, people are saying that Mugabe is gone but Mugabe is still with us.

“His system is very much with us and as far as we are concerned dictatorship is still there,” he said.

Chamisa said the current regime was riding on Mugabe’s dictatorship systems at the expense of the masses.

“Dictatorship is still there and prevalent within the country’s systems.

“It is the same old women and men running the country’s affairs,” he said.

The youthful MDC Alliance Presidential candidate dismissed the “new dispensation mantra” arguing that it is highly unlikely that those that created the country’s problems can wake up saying they now have the solutions to those challenges.

“Yesterday’s problems can not be an answer to tomorrow’s people.

We need a fresh face in the affairs of our nation,” said Chamisa.

He said Zimbabwe had a lot of potential socially, economically and politically which would likely change its citizens’ lives if only new leadership was elected.

“The country needs a fresh breath,” he said.

Grace Mugabe In SA Court

AfriForum Media Statement|The civil rights watchdog AfriForum’s application against an earlier decision by the Minister of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) to grant diplomatic immunity to Grace Mugabe, the former first lady of Zimbabwe, will be heard in the High Court in Pretoria on 10 and 11 May 2018.

This court application is the first important step in a process to have Mugabe prosecuted for her alleged assault of Gabriella Engels, a young Johannesburg model, in August 2017.

High drama reigned last year when it became known that Engels was allegedly assaulted by Mugabe with an electric cord because last mentioned was unhappy with the escapades of her two sons in a luxury hotel in Sandton.

It is common knowledge that Mugabe and her offspring maintained extravagant lifestyles and spent enormous amounts of money on accommodation, shopping and parties in among others Sandton and Johannesburg when she was still the first lady of Zimbabwe.

The reign of Robert Mugabe, the Zimbabwean dictator, ended shortly after the incident when the Zimbabwean army intervened. Since, Emmerson Mnangagwa became the President of Zimbabwe.

At the time the South African government decided in a very controversial manner to silently grant diplomatic immunity to Grace Mugabe, thus giving her the opportunity to return to Zimbabwe from South Africa and therefore evade prosecution in South Africa. Because of her being granted diplomatic immunity, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) could not further investigate the charges against Mugabe of assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm and AfriForum therefore launched a court application to have the controversial grant set aside.

Various other institutions have since brought similar applications with the High Court in Pretoria and also entered the proceedings as friends of the court; therefore, all the applications around this case will be heard simultaneously.

Should AfriForum be successful in having this diplomatic immunity to Mugabe set aside, it will pave the way for the NPA to take steps to ultimately prosecute Mugabe. AfriForum indicated earlier that its private prosecuting unit under leadership of Adv. Gerrie Nel stands at the ready to institute private prosecution should the NPA decide not to prosecute Mugabe.

Grace Mugabe’s Ex Husband Defends Chamisa: Promises Him His Daughter If He Wins Elections

By Talent Gondo| Former first lady  Grace Mugabe’s ex husband, Stanley Goreraza has called on Zimbabweans to stop attacking MDC Alliance President, Nelson Chamisa over the joke he made in UK that he will give his 18 year old sister to President Emmerson Mnangagwa if he wins the forthcoming polls arguing that the statement is a normal cultural joke which should be appreciated by those privy to Zimbabwean culture.

Goreraza said there is nothing sinister or degrading about the joke especially in the Zimbabwean context considering that in our Shona culture, there is “chiramu”.

“This is who we are and how we have been for a thousand years,” he said.

“We grew up doing it …..and it is done with much love and respect but it solidifies family bonds,” he said.

He said the cliche was being blown out of context by especially those who had acquired European education and had adopted western cultures.

“I will give you (Chamisa) my daughter if you win so that you can accord me the befitting respect,” said Goreraza.

Below is the full text of Goreraza’s statement on facebook:

I too have said exactly what was said by Nelson Chamisa, many times. We grew up with our mothers and fathers, Uncles and Aunts making the very same jokes.

Tine chiramu pachivanhu. Tinoti minin’ina wemukadzi mukadzi wako (meaning your wife’s young sister is your wife). Mwanasikana watsano mukadzi wako (your brother in law’s daughter is your wife). Tinoti mwanasikana we hanzvadzi mudzimai kunyangwe kari kacheche (we say your sister’s daughter even when she is still a day old is your wife). Ini ndinoti atezvara kune mwanakomana wangu (I call my son my father in law), and I will marry his daughter.

My brothers son is not my nephew but my son. My brothers daughter is not my niece but my daughter.

That is who we are. We have been making these jokes for thousands of years. Vamwe vedu tobva tada kutorera chirungu pamsoro (some of us despite being African want to adopt the culture of whites). Isu vamwe hatisi varungu (some of us are not whites).

Jokingly, my sister offers me her daughters to marry if I respect her by kuvawombera saambuya. She will ask me how much I’m offering her for her daughters, how many Cows will I give her as part of Lobola. My sisters daughter will tell me she doesn’t love me anymore and is divorcing me because I haven’t been in contact with her for too long.

This is who we are and how we have been for thousands of years. It is all done with much love and respect and solidifies family bonds. White people have their own culture and we have ours.

Nelson Chamisa was simply being Zimbabwean and doing what we have been doing for thousands of years. Mnangagwa anobva atoti vatezvare kuna Chamisa, otowombera (Mnangagwa will call Chamisa father in law and he will respect him accordingly). Nelson Chamisa’s sister can visit Mnangagwas wife and tells her I have come to take my husband, meaning Mnangagwa. Auxillia Mnangagwa will respond by saying “manje nhasi panorwiwa pano amainini” as she pours Nelson’s sister some tea and they spend the whole day together, laughing.

That is how our ancestors strengthened family bonds and built husahwira (friendships)which turned into family.

Vamwe vanobva vano dzidza ku varungu vobva vatoti it’s abuse (those who are not privy to our culture and who learn the European way of doing things will describe this as abuse).

There is so much about us and our culture that white people will never understand. Things like roora, ngozi, kurova guva and many other things.

In Zimbabwe, a man cannot pay lobola for another man. But in Australia a man can get on his knees and ask another man to marry him. We find the practice abominable, it has never been part of who we are.

We should not be made to change who we are to become who we are not. Yes, there are wrong things like giving away a girl child to pay off ngozi, but that is easily sorted out by paying cattle instead of an innocent girl.

Don’t be made to hate who you are and where you came from.

Va Chamisa, ini ndichakupaiwo mwana wangu musikana kana mukawhina monyatsondi wombera zvakanaka (Chamisa, I will also give you my daughter if you win then you will accord me the befitting respect).

VIDEO: CIO Bosses Interrogated Over Stolen Diamonds

CENTRAL Intelligence Organisation (CIO) bosses were yesterday grilled in Parliament for entering into a joint diamond-mining deal known as Sino-Zim, with Chinese convict Sam Pa, without doing a proper due diligence check on his background.

Sino-Zim operated a diamond mine known as Kusena Diamonds in the Chiadzwa area.

Kusena Diamonds board member Genius Madzingira (CIO) and Sino-Zim board member Pritchard Zhou and Kusena vice board chairperson Regiment Ruzende had a torrid time explaining to the Temba Mliswa-led Mines Committee issues pertaining to their entering into business with Sam Pa. The CIO officials also gave conflicting statements and cited their former boss Happyton Bonyongwe as the only person who used to deal with Sam Pa.

This was part of the Parliament probe to the $15 billion missing diamond revenue which former President Robert Mugabe alluded to nearly three years ago.

Unimpressed by their failure to explain issues of the CIO diamond mining activities in Chiadzwa, Mliswa accused the State spies of deliberately holding on to important information.

“You (CIO) seem to be holding on to information because there is an understanding that the security sector looted diamonds, but you are failing to give us the information. Please stop being discreet because you seem to be playing intelligence with us. You need to remove the CIO hats and put on the hats of your roles at the diamond concessions because there are assertions that you looted,” Mliswa warned.

This was after Zhou and Ruzende had claimed ignorance about the joint venture agreements between the CIO and Sam Pa. They also professed ignorance on reports that $10 million worth of equipment was donated to Kusena by their Chinese partners. The CIO owned 51% shares in Sino-Zim while Sam Pa’s China International Fund owned the remaining 49%.

Zhou and Ruzende claimed they did not know Sam Pa and that he only used to deal with Bonyongwe.

“Such issues were dealt with at the highest level of the organisation (CIO) and that question should be directed to the (former) Director General Bonyongwe because he was the one who decided on vetting. We are not aware of the donation of the equipment to Kusena and we did not know Sam Pa,” Zhou responded.

Madzingira differed: “The equipment was donated to the President’s Department and that was its equity contribution to Kusena. This was exploration equipment and could not go into hard rock and it definitely came from Sam Pa.”

Zhou said the Kusena Diamonds board never got to know the mining agreements as operations were taking place at shareholding level with Bonyongwe, who also had the explanation over issues of vetting Sam Pa.

Mliswa said Bonyongwe needs to give answers to the issues of CIO operations at Kusena as he had claimed that Sam Pa had donated $10 million worth of equipment to the CIO and yet he was in prison.

The CIO maintained that their mining venture at Kusena was not profitable, adding the $1 120 906,08 realised from the sale of 18 981,99 diamond carats was not remitted to the President’s Office by the ZMDC.

Cholera Headache For Government: As ED Promises Better Health Post Elections

By Talent Gondo| Increasing cholera cases in Harare and Chitungwiza continue presenting challenges for the country’s health sector, a government official has said.

Epidemiology and disease control director in the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Dr Portia Manangazira confirmed this in an interview with a local daily, The Herald.

Dr Manangazira said 47 suspected cases of the disease — 14 in Stoneridge, 2 in Belvedere and 31 in Chitungwiza — have been reported since April 5, 2018.

She revealed that of the suspected cases, 23 had been confirmed.

“Our worry is that cases keep cropping up and we do not know where and when is the next outbreak,” she said.

Dr Manangazira lamented poor service delivery including failure by local authorities to provide clean water and sanitation facilities to local suburbs and newly-established settlements such as Stoneridge.

In its election manifesto, Zanu Pf has promised the provision of safe and sufficient drinking water and sanitation for the citizenry as a right conferred to them by the constitution.

The party pledged that government will ensure the purification of water to meet WHO standards.

“A national rehabilitation programme of all water purification plants will be adopted and implemented,” read the manifesto.

“Some projects that will be completed in pursuit of this objective include:Gwayi-Tshangani Dam, Mutange Dam, Kunzvi Dam and Wenimbi pipeline.”

The party pledged to capacitate ZINWA and increase water reservoirs.

“The party will establish high capacity boreholes in each and every community and embark on a water harvesting programmes,” read the manifesto.

MUTSVANGWA BOOB: Mutendereki Ready To Defeat Chris “Even 100 Times”

Christopher Mutsvangwa wanted even a hundred times

By Paul Nyathi|Aspiring ZANU PF parliamentarian for Norton Langton Mutendereki says he is prepared to square up with buoyant Christopher Mutsvangwa as many times as he wants in the primary elections to choose the ZANU PF candidate for the constituency and would still beat him in all attempts.

Mutendereki said this ahead of the rerun of the primary election which Mutsvangwa lost and appealed against.

Mutendereki won the first round which Mutsvangwa claimed was rigged.

While sources close to Mutsvangwa claimed there were “negotiations” for Mutendereki to “step aside” the little-known politician poured cold water on the suggestions.

“There are moves to try and persuade Mutendereki to step aside. Talks are in progress,” said a source close to the issue, adding this might allow Mutsvangwa a free passage to stand as a Zanu PF candidate.

But Mutendereki yesterday said he would not be distracted by “heresay”.

“There is nothing like that. I am preparing for the primary election re-run and ready for it. It is not correct. In fact, nobody has approached me either cordially or in a threatening fashion. I am still very much in the race,” he told the local Newsday.

Mutendereki said he was more emboldened and convinced than ever now that he will be Zanu PF candidate come the general election.

“It’s not true that I’m being threatened to quit the rerun. Those are lies, in fact, I’m raring to go and will win this time with a wider margin . . . my friend even if the elections are held 100 times I will still beat Mutsvangwa,” Mutendereki said.

“During the first round, I was 75% sure that I would win, but now I am 100% certain. I won without anyone’s help and ready for it,” he said.

Mutsvangwa would not comment on the issue or his chances in the re-run.

“Chamisa is choppy in English presentations”

Chamisa declared a poor public speaker

Opinion Piece By Pamela Dzapasi Muregi| Chamisa won’t be able to address a full rally in English and maintain his charisma that’s made him popular so far.

He is choppy in English because he speaks from the head without a prepared speech. That style will not work for him if he speaks in English.

A speech therapist and speech,Josephine Mangwana who works in London coaching many African businessmen on how to read and speak in public stresses that Ndebele people had to be forgiving on Chamisa’s reluctance to use an interpreter either. He has to flow in his disjointed speech techniques which uses a lot of shouting and doesn’t follow the last word introduced.

He is the worst speaker whose managed to fool many with confidence when he speaks. He gets an A on confidence and delivery of sound bites that are usually disjointed and it does work for a rally where a lot of noise and control of the crowd is captivated by his stage presence.

All eyes are on his movements. His style is the what we call the choir conductor. Not for a song but of the noise, the cheers and the drums of the rally. It’s a fun-fare filled with psychological zingers, irrelevant jokes and posture. If he changes his style, it will expose him to more mistakes and will show emptiness to his gallery rhetorics.Sorry folks. He’s just not cut to address in English.

Chamisa must start using a prepared speech like Mugabe. Read from a paper on a podium.

He has the voice and gestures. He will survive if he does that. But he won’t have the whole stage to walk around and use his illusion and magical trick like Harry Houdini. When in UK, he was on a table and felt restricted from achieving a stellar performance and hence he too blamed the rally organizers as ill-prepared. It’s because he expected a wide stage to pace around and perform his tricks to those who want to glue their eyes on him.

ED is a better speaker in English than Chamisa. He can complete the thought of the sentence without erratically jumping to the beginning of the sentence.

Chamisa, Biti And Coltart Start Serious UK Business

David Coltart

By David Colrtart In London|I am in London with my good friends Nelson Chamisa and Tendai Biti. Our day starts with meetings with Dianne Abbott, Shadow Home Affairs Minister and then Emily Thornberry, Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister. Then it is on to Chatham House where Hon Chamisa speaks. That is followed by a meeting with the man who did so much to help our education system during the GNU, former Development Minister Andrew Mitchell. In the afternoon we meet a team from the Economist and end the day addressing the Parliamentary Africa Group.

So a busy start to our few days in London. Tomorrow we meet senior Government leaders – but more of that then.

Our message will be the same – both Britain and Africa’s best interests will be best served if Zimbabwe is run by government which will go beyond paying mere lip service to respecting the rule of law and the Constitution.

ARTUZ Walks Out Of Talks, Teachers Not Reporting For Duty

Obert Masaraure

By Paul Nyathi|The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe on Monday walked out of the government and teachers negotiations meeting.

The union leaders walked out of the meeting claiming that the government was not making commitments to the discussions but only trying to bulldoze the teachers to call off the strike action set to start on Tuesday.

ARTUZ Secretary General Obert Masaraure told journalists on the sidelines of the meeting that all rural teachers will not report for duty when schools open on Tuesday.

“Nothing came out of the meeting with the Minister as he is not making any commitments to solving our issues but only wanting is to return to work,” said Masaraure.

“Our members are going ahead with the industrial action as arranged,” he said.

Secretary General of the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe Raymond Majongwe also confirmed that the meeting with the minister produced no results.

“We are going ahead with the talks with government as nothing concrete has come out of the talks,” he said.

Majongwe said that the union has not taken a decision on teachers going back to work.

“We will only have a decision when talks with the Minister are exhausted,” said Majongwe.

The Zimbabwe Teachers Association director Sifiso Ndlovu also said that his union has not been able to take a decision on whether the teachers should return to work or not as talks with government are still on going.

ZANU PF aligned Federation of Zimbabwean Teachers Union meanwhile issued a statement claiming that government and teachers had reached an agreement and teachers will be written to work.

Zanu Pf Shuts Out Losing Candidates

By Talent Gondo| Zanu Pf will no longer receive or entertain petitions concerning the just ended primary elections amid calls for the losing candidates to rally behind those who won.

The national political commissar for the party, Retired Brigadier General, Engelbert Rugeje on Sunday announced names of those who won in the polls revealing that the party had noted “gross irregularities” in several constituencies.

He however did not detail what these gross irreguralities were although party supporters and mostly losing candidates alleged massive vote rigging through ballot stuffing.

“The party resolved to conduct re runs,” said Obert Mpofu who was speaking on behalf of Retired  Brigadier Rugeje.

According to media reports, Zanu Pf initially resolved to conduct the ‘re runs in less than 10 constituencies mostly in Harare and Mashonaland West.

The party revealed that it would send independent observers to areas where the election results are contested.

The party has added Kambuzuma constituency in Harare to the list of constituencies where ‘re runs are to be done on a date yet to be advised.

However, Gutu East constituency has been scrapped off this list and Beritta Chikwama was declared the winner who will contest using the party’s ticket in the forthcoming harmonised polls.

CiZC reiterates calls for amendment of the Electoral Act

Parliament of Zimbabwe

Press Release|On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, the Parliament of Zimbabwe will debate the Electoral Amendment Bill.

CiZC reiterates that amendment   of the country’s Electoral Act is a precursor to free, fair and credible elections in 2018 among other key demands.

Free, fair and credible polls are critical for democracy and development and CiZC notes with great concern, previous sentiments from the ruling party, Zanu (PF) politicians that there is no need for electoral reforms in Zimbabwe.

CiZC challenges the ‘new dispensation’ to walk the talk on their pledge to uphold democracy and ensure that the rule of law prevails in Zimbabwe. The Electoral Amendment Bill debate will serve as a litmus test on the commitment to credible elections.

Previously, the ruling party, Zanu (PF) was on record that they will not reform themselves out of power (in reference to electoral reforms) and we expect a paradigm shift from this position.

The issue of electoral reforms has been very much contested and this has seen piecemeal amendments to the Electoral Act with Zanu (PF) apparently using its parliamentary majority to frustrate efforts towards aligning the act with the country’s constitution.

There has also been a deliberate attempt by the State media to misinform the general public on the urgency of electoral reforms and this points to a deliberate ploy to block electoral reforms before the 2018 elections.

CiZC would like to state that amendments to the country’s Electoral Act are critical in leveling the playing ground ahead of the 2018 especially through ensuring that there is enhanced independence and transparency of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), improved access to voting material and the voters’ roll by all contestants, equal access to  state media, a code of conduct for traditional leaders and members of the police and the military as well as extending the grounds for the hearing of election petitions.

Reforms to the Electoral Act are thus key determinants of the credibility of the upcoming 2018 elections and CiZC reiterates that in line with Section 130 of the constitution, Parliament has the role to initiate and consider legislation.

Prior to the Electoral Amendment Bill debate, CiZC as a coordinating body for Civic Society Organizations (CSOs) in Zimbabwe held various consultative meetings with political parties and CSOs on the need for reforms to the country’s Electoral Act.

During the consultative meetings, which culminated in CiZC submitting a communique to the Parliament of Zimbabwe, there was commitment from the parties (including Zanu PF) to implement reforms to the country’s Electoral Act.

We therefore challenge the political parties represented in Parliament to walk the talk on electoral reforms.

CiZC will continue to mobilize ordinary Zimbabweans to demand free, fair and credible elections in 2018.

ZIMRA Official Caught Stealing $2 Million

ZIMRA Boss Faith Mazani

By Paul Nyathi|The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) has revealed that it has apprehended the suspect who attempted to defraud it of $2 million.

Zimra commissioner general, Faith Mazani told the media that the authority had intercepted a staffer, who tried to transfer funds into other people’s accounts.

“We ran an internal investigation and we are glad that we have finally captured the suspect from the IT (information technology) department, but we are yet to discover whom he was transferring to, so we are waiting for the bank to give us a statement,” she said.

“From the story that we gave yesterday (Saturday), we have sent nine people on forced leave in order to carryout proper investigations.

“The suspect was caught trying to do a transaction on Friday.

The Zimra boss said the suspect will be handed over to the police for full investigation.

“We are happy that we have cleared some of the suspects and we will continue the investigations,” she said.

“We still have other senior guys, who were responsible for the section. They are still on leave because we haven’t finished the investigations yet and tomorrow, we will continue.”

Offload Senior Players- Bosso Fans

PRAISE singing of the performance of Highlanders’
youthful side hit a discord note on Sunday, with fans
in the terraces questioning the continued inclusion of
some senior players they feel are misfits and will
ruin Bosso’s ECD project.

Following the disappointing 1-2 loss to ZPC Kariba in
a Castle Lager Premiership match at Barbourfields
Stadium, disappointed Bosso fans that attended the
game demanded that coach Madinda Ndlovu return
to his initial plan of using only youngsters in the
club’s rebuilding exercise.
They felt senior players meant to guide the
youngsters are instead letting down the project with
their below par performances and weekly blunders in
Bosso matches.

Skipper and left-back Honest Moyo is slow and
opposing teams tend to target his wing where they
easily beat him for pace.

Centre-back Peter Muduhwa blows hot and cold, but
what worries fans the most is constant
communication failure between him and goalkeeper
Ariel Sibanda.

So bad is the absence of communication that each
time the ball is flighted into the Bosso box,
possibilities of goals are always high due to the
melees that ensue.
The rebuilding Bulawayo giants have so far lost eight
points from games they could have either won or
drawn because of blunders by senior players, with
keeper Sibanda being the main culprit.
Bosso are third on the league table with 20 points
from 10 games and trail leaders Ngezi Platinum
Stars by six points.

In Week Six, Highlanders surrendered a 2-1 lead to
draw 2-2 against Chicken Inn after Simon Munawa
capitalised on a mix up between Sibanda and his
defender Charlton Siamalonga.

Bosso then suffered their first defeat of the season
0-1 to pacesetters Ngezi Platinum Stars in Week
Eight. Again, Sibanda committed the cardinal
goalkeeping sin of being beaten at the near post due
to his indecision.

With the match seemingly headed for a draw on
Sunday, Bosso pushed everyone into the ZPC Kariba
box for a corner kick and Sibanda positioned himself
in the centre circle in the second minute of the
referee’s optional time.

When ZPC Kariba cleared their lines, the ball fell to
substitute Tawanda Nyamandwe, who made a short
run, aimed at goal and scored, with Sibanda
stranded.

Both Highlanders’ coach Ndlovu and ZPC Kariba
gaffer Godfrey Tamirepi pointed out that the game’s
turning point was Sibanda’s howler.
Ndlovu was clearly unhappy with the way Sibanda
kept goal.

“We hoped that the boys would at least salvage a
point, but they were punished for a blunder by a
senior player, the goalkeeper, who made that
schoolboy mistake,” Ndlovu said.

It looks like lack of competition has made Sibanda
complacent and Highlanders’ goalkeepers’ trainer
Tembo Chuma will certainly be furious with the way
Sibanda has been conceding goals.
Sibanda has conceded seven goals in 10 games.

However, he seems to have gotten into a comfort
zone and needs to work hard, keep his guard up if
he is to play a significant role in Highlanders’
rebuilding exercise.

Bosso have two young goalkeepers, Prosper Matutu
and Nedrick Madeya, who both lack experience, and
one of them could be thrown into the fray if
Sibanda’s untidy goalkeeping continues.

Right-back McClive Phiri has just about been the
only consistent performer both defensively and
offensively, alongside midfielder Nigel Makumbe and
speedy winger Gabriel Nyoni whenever they’re fit.

Nyoni gives the Bosso frontline some venom, but he
is rather prone to injury. Brian Banda also gives the
side some options, but he too lacks consistency to
become the team’s engine room.

Coach Ndlovu introduced 18-year-old centre-back
Andrew Mbeba against Mutare City Rovers in the
absence of Muduhwa and the youngster stepped up
to the plate. One wonders why the coach didn’t give
the youngster another run against a ZPC Kariba side
that didn’t match Mutare City in terms of quality and
creativity.

Bosso fans want to watch the likes of young central
midfielder Brian Jaravaza and left-back Mbongeni
Ndlovu, so that they develop instead of continuing
with old horses that continuously let down the highly
determined youngsters.

These youngsters have shown that given more
game time, they can establish themselves at Bosso
compared to the senior players that have been
suspect for a number of seasons.

Sentiments from the terraces showed that Bosso
fans would rather watch their youngsters losing
without senior players denting the team’s rebuilding

MDC Clears The Air On Holding Of Primary Elections

Terrence Mawawa

The country’s largest opposition party, MDC, has cleared the mystery and confusion surrounding the holding of primary elections.

Below is MDC National Chairperson Honourable Morgen Komichi’ s statement:

The MDC-T is pleased to announce that it now has a comprehensive panel of approved parliamentary and local government candidates ready to represent the party across the length and breadth of the country.

Among our candidates are doctors, engineers, various professional disciplines and people of high standing who represent special interest groups in the country.

Following the compilation of the approved candidates’ panel, the party is now undergoing the second stage of candidate selection, which is consensus-building and primary elections where necessary. We are undertaking a robust process that will yield popular candidates that are grounded in and popular among the people. The party has also undertaken to take into consideration the view of party structures and members, ordinary people in a ward or constituency, as well as the views of traditional leaders, the church, labour and other opinion makers in the communities.

The party wants to centre its candidate selection process around the people through a procedure that begins with a process of consensus between and among the candidates themselves, with a primary elections being the last resort if the candidates fail to agree among themselves. We are heartened that over 3 000 people have submitted their CVs with a wish to represent the MDC-T, which is contesting the forthcoming elections under the banner of the MDC-T Alliance. Of the candidates who have submitted their CVs, 512 want to represent the party as parliamentary candidates while the rest wish to represent the 1 958 local government wards in the country. We are heartened by this growing interest in representing the party.

In accordance with party’s roadmap, our candidate selection process will be complete by next week.

As the Elections Directorate of the party, we have spent sleepless nights in the past two weeks receiving huge volumes of CVs and vetting them, handling queries and ensuring that our candidate selection process is transparent and does not invite needless divisions and rancour.

The party will strive by all means to abide by the women’s quota and the 20 percent youth quota during this candidate selection process. We are a social democratic party and we commit to abide by our values and resolutions. Among the quotas set aside for special groups will be a specific quota for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The MDC Alliance and its presidential candidate Hon. Adv. Nelson Chamisa will certainly win this election. As a party and as an Alliance, we are poised to bring positive change in the lives of the people through our robust policy programme anchored on the tripod pillars of Transformation, Opportunities and Prosperity.

We have a new and dynamic presidential candidate who, together with his team, will transform the country and bring positive change in the lives of the people.

Behold the new.

Linda Masarira Angry Over Mnangagwa Humiliation By Chamisa

By Farai D Hove| The expelled former MDC Deputy President Thokozani Khupe’s spokesperson, Linda Masarira has exploded in anger after ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa was at the weekend humiliated by MDC-T leader Nelson Chamisa.

Chamisa speaking in Bedford, UK, said he would bet his 18 year old sister away to Mnangagwa should he ever win a free and fair election at any time in Zimbabwr by just 5% of the vote.

Masarira yesterday appeared riled as she said, “it shows that he has no regard for women in this country. And you can compare it with the way he has treated women in his own party, the way he treated Madam Thokozani Khupe.

“It really shows that he has no regard whatsoever for women because you cannot trade your own sister for political mileage. Even if he wants to call it a joke, you cannot joke about such sensitive issues in this day and age.”

Horror Attack By Crocodile Turned Into Joy Wedding

Imagine being beaten by a crocodile just a few days before your wedding.

A Bulawayo woman lost her arm to a crocodile just a few days before her wedding.

The woman, Zanele Ndlovu-Fox told the state owned Chronicle how she lost her arm in the Zambezi River just five days before her wedding. Zanele was in a manul boat with her husband Mr Jamie Fox.

In what perhaps was an act of defiance, the two had a wedding right inside the Mater Dei Hospital where she was recovering, in the hospital’s chapel. Zanele said, ”

“We were canoeing in the upper Zambezi using those inflated rafts. The waters were very calm, we had guides and there were about seven canoes in the water. The canoe started deflating and it all happened so fast. The crocodile bit me again and pulled me into the water. My husband was thrown out on the opposite side so the boat was between us. Jamie swam over to where I was struggling with the crocodile that was trying to pull me to the bottom of the river. He grabbed my waist and with the other hand he rained blows on the crocodile.”

Carl Joshua’s Wife Hospitalised

Carl Joshua Ncube

Top comedian, Carl Joshua Ncube’s wife Nelsy has been admitted to Health Bridge, a private hospital in the resort town of Victoria Falls.

She was yesterday taken into the hospital suffering from a suspected chest infection.

The development comes after she performed on Sunday at the just ended Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA). Her husband, Carl, said,

“My wife and I have been having sore throats ever since we came back from China. So after she performed at HIFA, hers became worse and as a precaution we went to the hospital. She is being monitored by the doctors and nurses there.” ,- state media

VIDEO: Hwange Town Up For Sale

Hwange Colliery Company Limited (HCCL)’s woes persist, with numerous teething problems affecting productivity and the plight of workers and their family far from being resolved.

The company now wants to sell Hwange town for $300 million to among other things offset a $70 million debt it owes to employees in salary arrears dating back to 5 years.

This emerged as the company’s board appeared before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy this afternoon.

As the crisis continues unabated, women and children of the stranded workers who are now forced to work two week shifts, are the worst affected and Parliament is not impressed with the obtaining situation, calling for a lasting solution.

HCCL Chairperson for the Technical Committee, Mrs Ntombizodwa Masuku told parliament that they currently require $500 million dollars capital injection to pay off debts and have put on the table an option to sale off the town for $300 million.- State Media

CASUALTIES OF ZANU PF PRIMARY ELECTIONS: EXPLORATION OF THE NEXUS

Compiled By: Nyahunda Struggle Desire” (gardamel karma)

Several myths and assumptions are being postulated from rank and file, print and electronic media, social platforms and in all the gatherings pertaining the recently held Zanu Pf primary elections and their ultimate casualties. This presentation will give an analysis on the electoral processes and their consequences to both Zanu Pf and the country, as well as digging in the near future in regard to the Post Mugabe era in Zimbabwe.

*PRIMARY ELECTIONS*

These are elections which are conducted ahead of each general election in every political entity to choose party represantives who will then represent their respective parties. These are very critical internal elections and are conducted according to the set guidelines, rules and regulations. For one to qualify to contest in any election, he/ she must go through a thorough vetting done by the organs of a political party. Most political parties require a minimum of 5 years experience in a respective organ of the party to qualify or be regarded as a bona fide party member. This is usually done to guard against infiltration and and voting members who will betray the organisation. Therefore, a committees are set up to deal with such issues at the same time guarding against vendettas aimed at pursuing personal agendas.

*WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO QUALIFY TO CONTEST IN ZANU PF PRIMARIES*

For a councillor, a member was supposed to have served at branch level or be in party structures at cell level for at least 5 years. This means everyone was eligible to contest because cell registers in Zanu Pf are structured from the traditional villages(kraalheards) lists or all members under a certain village head. Many people in Zimbabwe rural villages submit their names to the village heads or attend these cell meetings in order to receive inputs, food aid, and to save face from abuse by political actors. Only a few members known to be opposition activists are delisted from these registers. So for Zanu Pf to regard those members at cell level as their bona fide members was an error of commission. Actual or bona fide members are those members at a certain level of leadership above cell level say a branch or district level.

Secondly, for one to contest as a Member of Parliament, one was supposed to have served at district level for at least 5 years. This means even though a member would have been at district level but without 5 years, that member was supposed to be disqualified. Initially, the circular was calling only those who had served at least 5 years at provincial level but then revised this clause. There might be reasons which led to such changes, for sure internal fighting not be ruled out.

Thirdly, for one to be a Senator, Provincial Councillor, Proportional Representation Mp, one was supposed to have served the party at least at provincial level for 5 years and above. Then the Provincial Executive Committees were seized by the daunting task to go through the vetting process following the above template and lets jump to the next topic.

*WAS THE TEMPLATE FOLLOWED?*

Political expediency was at play at every level of the party and vetting was choreographed to the chore. Selfish and personal interests were at the forefront. Vengeful and vindictive retribution played a bigger role. Some wanted to impose their friends, relatives, girlfriends, boyfriends, puppets despite not meeting the criteria. The Zanu Pf legal department for the first wanted to respect the Zimbabwe Constitution by barring all civil servants from taking part in the political institutions and this was commendable. However, the issue was quashed despite agreeing that Zanu Pf breached the constitution for a long time by allowing teachers and government officials to hold posts of councillors and party positions. This has seen several teachers participating actively in the political institutions. We witnessed a number of civil servants disqualified from contesting but were only cleared at National level by the Commissariat. This then boggles the mind whether the new dispensation was sincere enough in their bid to restore legacy when they reduced the constitution to rags just under their noses. This being done by a man who claims was mediating between the party Zanu Pf and army Engelbert Rugeje during ORL, it soiled the image of what they called legacy because he repeated the same mistake of the previous regime. Members who joined Zanu Pf only in Nov 2017 were cleared to take part, members from different political parties were allowed to contest. Members linked to the deposed G40 and Gamatox cabal were allowed to contest. Criminals with known records were allowed to contest. This showed how desperate and naive was the Commissariat department. Politics led the institutional processes and factionalism reigned in the whole process. From an academic standpoint, Zanu Pf failed to uphold its political processes because it is in a catch 22 situation. They don’t know who is with them and who is not.

*POSSIBLE REASONS WHY TOM AND DICK WAS ALLOWED TO CONTEST*

a). Zanu Pf structures are compromised from cell upwards and the commissariat department was not even able to see the difference between a member and non member probably because all structures are compiled in offices

b). Lacoste diehards are unelectable and are very unpopular with the grassroots hence opening doors for new players in an attempt to bail Zanu Pf

c). Probably someone wanted to set up his or her team aligned to him in what many think tanks agree that succession bomb is looming

d). The team from the army is out of touch with the grassroots and all structures are in control of the Lacoste diehards and war veterans. They therefore wanted to set up their team taking advantage of controlling the political process.

e). The different groups are drawing battle lines against each other setting the stage for a bruising fight in the near future. All controversial figures were created by a person who was in control of the political process probably with a future agenda.

f). After realising how Gamatox and G40 are tormenting the party, someone wanted to bail Zanu Pf from humiliation by seeking help from the enemy to fight an internal war.

g). Impeachment motion likely to be tabled soon after the polls in he event that Zanu Pf win the polls. This is probably because the Mps will be controlled by a certain section in the rank and file and parliament can be easily used to fight the sitting President.

h). Commissariat or a certain faction in Zanu Pf knows majority of those who were cleared and planned to win elections are not in god books with ED and Lacoste diehards. A certain faction which is emerging as the Savior to the disgruntled members and those who were linked to Dr Mujuru and Dr Mugabe will never like or dip in the same plate with ED.

i). Putting a mask facade of benevolence on the general citizens that probably a new dispensation is at hand whilst all the old guard will be determining political and government processes. Zanu Pf will never separate party and government business hence the Politburo and Central Committee is a defacto and dejure parliament and Senate respectively crafting government policies. Those Mps in parliament are only but puppets and as long as the clause to recall an Mp if he or she detours from party line is there, parliament will remain a circus under Zanu Pf.

*CONDUCTION OF PRIMARY ELECTIONS*

The commissariat totally failed to run the elections. Despite demanding hefty amounts of money from aspiring candidates, the ballot papers had no candidates faces, some names were missing whether by omission or commission. Cell registers were shambolic with some candidates failing to vote because their names were disenfranchised. Commissariat had time to put these registers in order since December but they were only busy singing Zimbabwe is open for business mantra following ED to gatherings without anything to do with the party.

They failed to exorcise the ghost of Mugabe which is probably haunting them day and night. They failed to release ED to go around meeting the people maybe assuming because they put tankers around a sitting president, people will just follow them. They failed to copy from MDC ALLIANCE organising committee which moved round the country introducing Chamisa to the people following the departure of Dr MRT and the move proved to have worked well. Although internal sources claimed the commissariat fear to spoil the meal by organising early rallies without good homework because the party is ailing and fractured to the core, this is yet to be proved

Although they managed to organise joint campaign rallies, they failed to stop vote buying instigated by criminals who looted government funds. Despite all videos on all social media testifying massive vote buying, no action was taken. This must worry opposition because even the fraudsters who were on the list of externalising funds were cleared to contest in the general elections.

Voters were disenfranchised and votes went on. Violence was rampant and nothing was done. The abuse of state apparatus who were presiding officers compromised the whole process and puts the name of security departments in disrepute. Opposition must be worried with the man leading commissariat who is not even a government official but went on to give orders to police force to deploy its members without knowledge of the highest office! This must worry Zimbabweans and never trust the hierarchy presiding over our precious country as Mukadota circus.

The numbers which voted in these elections are a testimony that the process was chaotic. Some claim nearly 900 000 voted, as an academic i want to dispute this. What of the ballot papers which were stuffed in Harare, Midlands, Mash West, Bulawayo and Masvingo. The fact that some who were presiding over the elections were biased compromised the whole process. Some candidates were given the ballots prior to voting and they were infringed them after bribery of polling officers. The voting process which took 3 days to end must not only be shameful but laughable. Who was guarding the ballot boxes at night? Were the agents able to spend 3 days without rest watching the ballot boxes? After all the card boxes, buckets and cooler boxes were used as ballot boxes. What a shame? At some polling stations the voters were given ballot papers and would go with them to seven days beer then came back to cast! All this in an election by the ruling party and its leadership claim the process was democratic! This must worry opposition.

Some agents were chased away from polling stations to allow rigging to take place, some were ferrying voters on the election day to polling stations, there was non system to guard against double voting. Goodies were distributed at polling stations by some candidates. Some candidates were assisting the voters. Some candidates declared their constituencies no go areas and village heads were ordered to go with their people to vote and make sure the sitting Mp wins or risk losing food aid if he wins. This happening in an internal poll must worry all international actors and opposition parties.

The delay in instituting electoral reforms must be an indicator that all is not well with this dispensation.

*DEFEAT OF BIGWIGS: MUTSVANGWA etal*

There are various theories surrounding the electoral defeat of Zanu Pf bigwigs in the elections and this writer will dwell solely on few assumptions.

1. The voters wanted to give ED a signal that him and his cabal’s time is up

2. G40 and Gamatox is still a factor in Zanu Pf and teaching a lesson to all close associates of ED is a clear testimony.

3. The Lacoste diehards are unelectable. They were politically defeated by Jonathan Moyo and Dr Mugabe until they unleashed tankers against Mugabe in what most call a coup

4. Old people must take back seat and must no longer dictate pace of future generation because they represent a yesterday generation, ED included

5. Their defeat was choreographed and stage managed to make sure the commissariat silence and neutralise them.

6. These people messed up with the people in previous years and people no longer want them.

6. Opposition voted for weak candidates in these elections to make sure they dumb them in general elections.

7). Revolutionary parties die with their founders as reiterated by Amiclar Cabral and Ali Mazrui

8). God’s plan to set war between war veterans and army elements which is a determining factor in the demise of ZANU PF.

*2018 ELECTIONS*

The way the ZANU PF conducted its primary elections as the ruling party signifies that free and fair election is still a myth. If ZANU PF members were pointing guns against their fellow comrades, what would stop them from perpetrating violence?

It seems the Zanu Pf commissariat though confused was testing murky waters of the sea on how they would implement their rigging plans and strategies.

Chasing of agents of other political players must be guarded and countered by opposition. At one of the polling station in Bikita, the number of people who voted against the votes received did not tally. It must be noted that the police, soldiers and prison workers who were in civilian clothes went through a rigorous training on these internal polls and they will also be participating in general elections.

People are scoffing at Christopher Vivendi Mutsvangwa when he is lambasting the police of having a hand in his defeat. Instead of asking how, people are being carried away. Remember Mutsvangwa is the special advisor to the President and he knows what they planned foe these general elections.

There are other professional police officers though but why is Mutsvangwa lambasting the police? This must tell you a hidden something. Timeously, ED issued a presser condemning abuse of police in these elections showing that he was in agreement with Mutsvangwa. The same day, Zec Chairperson Chigumba lambasted the police again for rigging elections in previous elections by relaying fake figures to command centres. She outlined their roles of which this tells us why results from polling stations were not tallying with those at command centres. *ONE RIGGING TACTIC UNEARTHED BY MUTSVANGWA AND CHIGUMBA*

I think Mutsvangwa need to be given ample time to explain how police rig elections than mocking him.

I leave it here!!!!!

Zhuwao Attacks Kasukuwere, Says He’s Now Lacoste

President Robert Mugabe’s nephew, Patrick Zhuwao has alleged that his colleague Saviour Kasukuwere is now a Lacoste.

Zhuwao made these allegations  in his latest opinion analysis issue ZBR. Below is the full text:

Reports are coming through that the military Junta is incubating the establishment of a copy-cat to the National Patriotic Front (NPF) to be called the ZNPF in an effort to derail the real NPF. The reports indicate that this copy-cat WPF junta project will seek to hijack the membership of the real NPF and subsume them under the leadership of Saviour Kasukuwere. Kasukuwere has been reported at some meetings of the real NPF as either having arrived in Zimbabwe or as being on the verge of landing in Zimbabwe in an effort to tie his supposed leadership of the copy-cat ZNPF junta project with the real NPF.

This ZBR is being written for the express purpose of putting on the record that I, as Patrick Zhuwao, am not part of Kasulcuwere’s current political shenanigans and manoeuvring. To be more specific, I do not support nor subscribe to the notion that Kasukuwere should lead the real NPF. Having politically interacted with Kasukuwere since joining the ZANU PF Youth League’s National Executive over one and a half decades ago, I am not convinced that he is an appropriate person to lead the real NPF.

Furthermore, the founders of the NPF, of which Kasukuwere is not one, have categorically stated that Professor Jonathan Moyo, Honourable Saviour Kasukuwere and Honourable Patrick Zhuwao should not form part of the founding leadership of NPF. As a co-founder of NPF, I fully associate myself with that position and have indicated as much in previous instalments of the ZBR and privately to Kasukuwere himself.

Some of the reasons for my taking such a position include the fact that Kasukuwere has been actively discouraging efforts towards the establishment of the real NPF up to a point where I stopped engaging him on the progress of that endeavour. Kasukuwere’s interactions with the military junta at its highest levels have also made it inconceivable for him to play a significant role in the real NPF, let alone lead it, since the real NPF was established to dismantle the junta.

Kasukuwere’s dogged determination to return to a Zimbabwe that is under the yoke of the military junta has also left me questioning his motives. The only way in which someone walks into a dangerously fatally situation is if they have been given assurances for their safety. Given the threat that the real NPF poses to the military junta, it is conceivable that such a guarantee can only have been secured by way of a commitment to derail the real NPF. This is why I am taking seriously the reports of a copy-cat ZNPF under the leadership of Kasukuwere as a junta project to derail the real NPF.

As a co-founder of the real NPF, it is important that I articulate my position publicly to all Zimbabweans so that it is abundantly clear that the real NPF can NEVER be a junta project. I will never support the copy-cat ZNPF junta project because its principle objective is to derail the efforts of the real NPF towards dismantling the military junta in control of Zimbabwe.

The real NPF was formed, partly, to provide a political home for those orphaned by the military takeover of ZANU PF and not as a means for the self–aggrandisement of those with unbridled political ambitions. The real NPF stands for the broad based socio-economic transformation of all Zimbabweans in an inclusive and collective manner in accordance to the maxim encapsulated in the slogan: Iwe neni tine basa. Umsebenzi loUmkhulu

Asante Sana.

We will soon witness an escalation of drug abuse and addiction at an alarming rate in churches and communities, ” he said.

A Masvingo based church leader also said:

Welshman Ncube Not Holding Primaries, Standing Committee Decides Candidates

Professor Welshman Ncube

By A Correspondent|The Welshman Ncube led MDC will not be holding any primary elections to decide any of its candidates senior sources within the party revealed to ZimEye.com.

“Following chaotic scenes seen at the on going ZANU PF Primary Elections the party has opted not to carry out primary elections but will use boardroom decisions to decide the candidates,” said the senior official.

The official told ZimEye.com that the party was very fortunate in that in almost all the thirty four constituencies seconded to the party there was no need to get to primary elections stage except in the Gwanda Constituency where two candidates could not reach a compromise.

“I can put it on record that all our seats did not need to go for primary elections except in Gwanda where two strong candidates could not reach a compromise and the National Standing Committee had to make a decision on who to represent the party,” said the official.

“The National Standing Committee set on Saturday and decided that former member of parliament for Gwanda Patrick Dube be given another chance to contest the election ahead of Alderman Japhet Mkwanazi who has been a councillor at the Municipality of Gwanda,” he said.

“Councillor Mkwanazi will go back to wrestle his ward while Dube will square up with radio personality Umpile Marupi who recently defeated Minister Abednico Ncube at the ZANU PF primary elections for the Gwanda seat,” said the official who preferred not to be mentioned.

The official further indicated that the party is in the process o finalising council candidates from applications that were submitted while proportional representation candidates will be seconded by the National Standing Committee.

“By next week the local government candidates will be known and similar processes will be used to determine the final candidates,” he said.

“Senatorial and Women Proportional Representation candidates will be decided by the national standing committee,” he said.

The party will be contesting in thirty four constituencies under the banner of the MDC Alliance with Nelson Chamisa as it’s presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, another opposition political party Zimbabwe First has confirmed that it is also concluding its candidates selection process in all constituencies around the country.

Party Elections Director Kesari Chibika told ZimEye.com that the party is in the process of giving aspiring candidates a chance to reach a consensus where there is more than one candidate before holding primary elections.

“So far we have covered all the provinces,” he said.

“Our process is primarily based on asking members to step forward and serve, if there is more than one person stepping forward we ask them to agree between themselves on who the best candidate is,” he said.

“If they fail to agree we will conduct primary elections . So far the process is going on smoothly and there has been no need for a primary.”

Chibika said that the party candidates are mainly university students with a mixture of experienced politicians.

Iranian Women Wear Fake Beard To Sneak Into Soccer Match

The Iranian Women in disguise at a soccer stadium on Friday.

By Paul Nyathi| A group of Iranian women have defied the laws of their land by wearing fake beards and dressing as men in order to watch a soccer match from inside the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.

In Iran, women are not officially banned from attending games, but they are usually refused entry. In March, 35 women were detained for trying to attend a game at Azadi Stadium. However, a group of fearless Iranian women are pushing back by dressing as men to gain entrance.

A video of an Iranian female soccer fan has gone viral after she disguised herself as a man to enter a Tehran soccer stadium last Friday. The woman and her friends wore fake beards and wigs to see Persepolis play Sepidrood at Azadi Stadium.

One of the women told the BBC News that security did not figure out they were wearing disguises, but people in the stands did. Another woman said that it was the third time she attended a game while wearing a disguise.

Men also accompanied the women to assure their safety. Some fans even came over to take selfies with the women at their seats.

Mnangagwa Stole Chamisa’s Ideas Into ZANU PF Manifesto

President Emmerson Mnangagwa launches ZANU PF Manifesto

By A Correspondent|MDC Alliance’s overwhelming support countrywide has frightened Zanu PF to the extent of it having to literally steal and smuggle the Alliance program of action for a better Zimbabwe into its election manifesto.

The Alliance national spokesperson, Professor Welshman Ncube on Sunday said when the Alliance presidential candidate Advocate Nelson Chamisa began highlighting the need for modern transport infrastructure such as the bullet trains and spaghetti roads, Zanu PF labeled him as being crazy. However, on Friday last week, Zanu PF unveiled its manifesto which to the surprise of many was littered with the very same MDC Alliance program of action.

“Chamisa has been saying it was possible for Zimbabwe to have bullet trains and ‘spaghetti roads’ but Zanu PF said he was mad” said Professor Ncube while addressing thousands of supporters at an Alliance rally at eSiganda in Bubi district.
“But did you see their manifesto; Mnangagwa has literally copied Chamisa’s concepts. They just cannot ignore him” said Professor Ncube to thunderous applause.

“In a class room scenario, you cannot copy from a dull classmate, you target the best and that is what Mnangagwa has done” .

Professor Ncube chronicled Zanu PF’s fake 2013 election pledges warning people not to fall in the same trap by voting for it in the forthcoming elections.
“In 2013, they (Zanu PF) dished out tea-pots and torches and you voted for them. They promised 2.3 million jobs and who among you managed to secure a job?” he asked.
“They further promised to construct at least two clinics per district but that never happened.
The spoke of bringing in $15 billion through indigenization programs but instead they stole $15 billion,” said Professor Ncube.

“All of their promises were not fulfilled and it is important to vote them out this year because they are not doing what they said. This is the time to boot them out,” added the MDC President.

Professor Ncube stressed that Chamisa, whom he described as an energetic and capable leader was the ‘man to win us the election”.
He said the Alliance was the only solution for Zimbabweans to get rid of the bundling Zanu PF.

Confirmed MDC-T Finalising Coalition Talks With Mujuru

Thokozani Khupe pictured with Joice Mujuru

By Paul Nyathi|Highly reliable sources have revealed to ZimEye.com that the Thokozani Khupe MDC-T is nearing finalisation in a coalition agreement with the Joice Mujuru People’s Rainbow Coalition.

The sources indicated that Mujuru and Khupe had a “fruitful meeting” in Bulawayo where the two agreed in principle to have Khupe’s MDC-T join the coalition.

According to the sources, all the grey areas in the deliberations were ironed out and Khupe will be revealed as a PRC partner in the next few weeks.

Included in the coalition is the Welshman Ncube led MDC former Secretary-General Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga who is reported to be holding a key position in the negotiations and joins the coalition as an individual.

The women leaders, who all fell out of favour with their previous political parties claim to be victims of gender discrimination in the parties.

The sources said both leaders were worried that their support base as individual parties was not sufficient to carry a majority vote, while Mujuru was concerned that her People’s Rainbow Coalition had not generated excitement ahead of the polls.

“The leaders met during thye women electoral convergence [summit] in Bulawayo and together with PDP’s Lucia Matibenga agreed in principle that an alliance ahead of the polls would be critical, however, the sticking point is on who will lead the alliance,” the source said.

Coltart: Chamisa Is Truly Meeting Queen Elizabeth’s Govt Officials

MDC Alliance member, David Coltart has confirmed that his Alliance boss, Nelson Chamisa is truly meeting Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s government officials in the UK. Below was the full text:

By David Coltart| Today (Sunday) I leave for the UK to join MDC Alliance Presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa and Tendai Biti for a series of meetings this week with British Government leaders, opposition leaders and officials. We will also be meeting journalists from the Economist, Financial Times, Spectator, Evening Standard and other leading British newspapers. Nelson Chamisa will also be speaking at Oxford University and Chatham House.

It is a great honour for me to have been invited to join Nelson Chamisa on this trip. I am absolutely delighted that once again I am working with my old comrades who have been in the trenches with me since the MDC was formed on the 11th September 1999. In fact the MDC Alliance is in essence the resurrection of the original MDC – read up on the original interim leadership and you will see what I mean.

The main purpose of the week will be to promote British investment in Zimbabwe in a new era under an MDC Alliance government. We will explain that the fundamental difference between the MDC Alliance and ZANU PF is that we, unlike ZANU PF, will implement Zimbabwe’s new Constitution in full – in letter and spirit – and that we will respect the rule of law.

For all ZANU PF’s rhetoric about Zimbabwe being “open for business” the one thing they have never learnt in 38 years of misrule is that the single most important factor in any investor’s decision to invest in a foreign country is security of the investment. If an investor feels that the rules will change, or that a dispute will come before a biased, political judge, or that permits will have to be obtained through bribery, the investor will simply look elsewhere. That is why just this week SA President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Africa/Japan Investment summit, stressed that South Africa’s judiciary is independent and that his Government totally respects South Africa’s Constitution. He gets it.

Sadly ZANU PF doesn’t – including President Mnangagwa’s government. This is not just about ZANU PF under Robert Mugabe. Since Emmerson Mnangagwa came to power in November the Constitution has been systematically breached – General Chiwenga’s appointment as VP and being in charge of Defence is unconstitutional, as are the appointment of Resident Ministers, the failure to open up the ZBC, Herald and Chronicle and a raft of other actions. Our judiciary remains seriously compromised – and rather than implement the Constitution it is none other than President Mnangagwa who in recent times tried to amend the Constitution to further undermine the independence of the judiciary, by reducing the powers of the Judicial Services Commission in selecting the Chief Justice.

In contrast the MDC Alliance, which after all has been the main driver of the new Constitution agreed to by Zimbabweans in 2013, will respect and implement the Constitution in all its fullness. And that is the one fundamental difference between the MDC Alliance and not just ZANU PF, but all the other major parties contesting the election. Without Morgan Tsvangirai, Nelson Chamisa, Jessie Fungayi Majome Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, Douglas Mwonzora and many other MDC leaders there would never have been a new democratic Constitution. That is a hard fact.

So we will be telling the British Government and investors that British investment will be secure under an MDC Alliance government. We will also remind them that when the MDC had just a small amount of influence in government between 2009 and 2013 the economy grew dramatically, hospitals reopened, children went back to school and a new democratic Constitution was written and accepted by millions of Zimbabweans.

In other words these are not empty promises, or mere rhetoric – we have a demonstrable track record. If we grasp the full reigns of government Zimbabwe will boom.

God bless Zimbabwe.

The crowds as they swelled
Chamisa being assisted out of the venue

By Paul Nyathi|MDC-T President Nelson Chamisa had to be escorted out of the venue of his United Kingdom rally in Bedford on Sunday as the hundreds of Zimbabweans would not let go of him.

Video footage at the scene ZimEye reveals Monday morning shows the dramatic moments when the man was mobbed and had to get Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s cops to assist him out of the venue.

In his Facebook post on Monday morning, Chamisa thanked the thousand Zimbabweans who thronged the rally from all over the United Kingdom for attending the hurriedly organised rally.

“UK Rally Massive & Impressive…Thank you Cdes & friends in the UK,” wrote Chamisa.

Gun Carrying Dexter Nduna Clashes With Edna Madzongwe In Chegutu

Senate President Edna Madzongwe

By Paul Nyathi| ZANU PF supporters backing under arrest Parliamentarian Dexter Nduna have demonstrated at the party’s offices in Chegutu demanding for Senate President Edna Madzongwe to leave the constituency.

Scores of party supporters besieged the party offices on Sunday denouncing Madzongwe for recommending that the constituency undergoes a rerun of the primary election which was held last week.

The party members protested for over three hours in the town claiming that they will not take part in the rerun of the election which was ordered by the party politburo.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the demonstrations, the ZANU PF members blamed Madzongwe for attempting to disqualify Nduna for a candidate who she favoured.

“The demonstration is to send a message to the president to get Edna Madzongwe out of the constituency as she is causing serious confusion and clashes in the constituency,” said a member.

The members claim that the politburo erred in calling for the rerun of the primary election which was marred with violence that resulted in Nduna firing live ammunition in public leading to him being arrested.

The members claim that Nduna won the elections fairly in all the other fourteen wards of the constituency except for ward 15 where the violence took place after supporters backing some losing candidates disturbed the voting process.

“Nduna won the elections overwhelmingly and fairly in all the wards and had to use his authority to try and put order in ward 15 when Madzongwe led a group of people to disrupt the election process,” said one of the protesters.

Commenting on the matter, Madzongwe said that she had nothing against Nduna neither is she favouring a candidate over another.

“I have nothing against Nduna and I am not backing any candidate,” she said.

Senate President Madzongwe withdrew from the Chegutu Senate race, leaving Anna Guhwa and Lydia Tsomondo to fight it out.

Dexter Nduna appeared in court on Friday and was released on bail on two counts of public violence and for discharging a firearm in a public place.

Some ZANU PF supporters are already calling on the party to disqualify him from the primary elections on allegations that he is under arrest and going through the courts on a criminal case.

The matter is being considered by the party’s own electoral commission.

Chamisa MDC Postpones Primaries

MDC-T leader, Nelson Chamisa’s party has reportedly postponed primary elections.

A latest report says this is to allow constituencies with more than one candidate to reach a consensus on who is to go ahead.

The party’s late leader, Morgan Tsvangirai last year cancelled primaries for constituencies with sitting candidates, a development that later led to sitting MPs being made to pay fees of $1,000 each this year.

That requirement later led to confusion when it was later announced that primaries would still be held in those same constituencies.

In the latest development a senior source is quoted saying primary elections initially slated for Friday last week will now commence on 17 May. But the primaries will begin with the announcement of approved candidates today after which candidates will be encouraged to reach a consensus so that where people agree, primary elections can be avoided.

MDC-T secretary for elections, Murisi Zwizwai, is quoted by Newsday confirming that the party will announce its list of approved candidates today with dates and logistics for the polls. Zwizwai said, “we are going to announce that list tomorrow at Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House and at that Press conference, all the issues will be addressed. We have a road map and what is going to be done. The date and the logistics will be announced tomorrow (today).”

CHAMISA vs ED: Mnangagwa Starts Own Rallies

By Dorrothy Moyo| At a time when it was said that Emmerson Mnangagwa does not campaign using public meetings, the President has launched his own rallies.

This comes after his oppponent Nelson Chamisa has been conducting rallies around the country and was noted for his unpresented charismatic meetings.

Mnangagwa has revealed that he will now travel around the country to meet people and unpack his programmes.

Mnangagwa on Friday digitally published saying, “the (party) manifesto outlines our vision for the new Zimbabwe and the practical steps of how we will turn this vision into a reality. Over the next few months, I will be travelling around the country meeting my fellow Zimbabweans, and explaining our programme to all.”
