Grace Mugabe Can Fix Zimbabwe|OPINION

We need a smooth transition from the old system to the new, and the only person available and who is positioned for that is Grace Mugabe. Rahab in the Bible, a prostitute, was positioned and saved the whole Israeli nation using her legs. – Analyst
Whether we like it or not, Grace is “at the top and where she is at the helm of the Zanu PF Women’s League, sitting in the de facto decision-making politburo where very critical decisions about the party and about how government is run and policies are made to give direction to the nation.” – Faith Zaba

What we need is to see how we can work with her, and instead of attacking her, Morgan Tsvangirai, Joice Mujuru and the others must explore ways of engaging her. – Analyst

By Suitable Kajau|Dr Amai Grace Mugabe is a unifying factor in ZANU-PF as she has ultimately put to rest wild speculations that have been making rounds all over concerning her purported usurpation of Government powers, especially from Vice President Emmerson Mnangangwa. She recently explicitly pronounced publicly, putting the record straight, that she is the Women’s League boss only, not a presidium aspirant as pointed out by some sections of society that dwelt much and believed their aberrant readings of her activities.
In fact, Dr Grace Mugabe deserves credit for speaking forcefully against factionalism, which is threatening to tear apart the ruling party. She is a strategist who took issues upon herself by striking mini-unity accords between party stalwarts, particularly in Harare Province, in the recent past when she mediated the resolution of differences that ultimately brought peace among some warring party elements.
When peace and unity prevails in the ruling party, Government operations are guaranteed success therefore. This is the key aspect that makes Dr Mugabe a legendary luminary that is enjoying prominence. She is a strategic government ally that ensures that matters are resolved timeously and accordingly to avert possible disruption of national governance owing to political bickering.
Dr Mugabe was wrongly read by many people for someone rallying for a high political office in Government. She made clear her well defined political aspiration as being confined to her official political office in ZANU-PF and no room for over-spillage as alleged by her detractors.
However, if Dr Mugabe has further ambitions, she can always do so in the process of enjoying her democratic rights as spelt out in the national constitution. In the meantime, things are made clear as to what she is up to. She put to rest all topical guesses that were confusing the public.
The nation should be under inspirational impetus to support such an assertive personality like Dr Mugabe who is driven by the desire for common good by serving public interest. There is no doubt that she is our local Mother Theresa whose philanthropic business is taking the lead as evidenced by her Mazowe children’s home where orphans found a residence in their time of bereavement after losing their beloved parents.
In the recent weeks, she made numerous donations in many provinces which are poised to make a positive difference to lives of many in this country. And we are assured that she is still continuing to identify needy communities and extending her helping hand to rescue desperate situations. She is selfless and derives pleasures in sharing with the under-privileged. This is a rare virtue, which is lacking in many people who do not find the cause to serve humanity in the same way she does.
It is critical that Dr Mugabe receives constructive criticism from well meaning citizens that can assist her to better her contribution to the entire society which looks up to her.

Mugabe In Full Control – Chief Secretary

in control...Mugabe
in control?…Mugabe

PRESIDENT ROBERT Mugabe is in full control of Government and fit enough to put more man hours into his work than any of his detractors ever could, the Head of the Civil Service has said.
Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda told, the State Media last week that Government was not on“auto-pilot” and the President remained seized with his rigorous executive schedule.
Dr Sibanda implored the media to report truthfully about President Mugabe and desist from abusing him. He also spoke of his service to the President spanning some 40 years during which time he has seen his boss’ best qualities, including his “fatherly disposition” that saw the inclusive Government (2009-2013) function cohesively against all odds.
For some time, the private media and opposition elements have speculated over President Mugabe’s health and age, claiming he was no longer capable of leading Government. Others have instinuated he had become detached from Government business.
But ahead of the President’s 92nd birthday anniversary today, Dr Sibanda told our Harare Bureau that the sole centre of power remained firmly in charge.
“He is alert, he knows what is happening. All those things (that he is no longer fit) are myths because he works — I can tell you. Sometimes he goes beyond nine o’clock or 10 o’clock. He is amazing . . . He is fit; that I can tell you because we work with him. He has a very, very tight (weekly) programme. So, whoever says (he is not fit), we don’t know. (These are) totally, totally misplaced (notions). In fact, most of these people who say so are sometimes themselves not fit. He has stamina; that I can tell you.”
Dr Sibanda said President Mugabe’s daily itinerary was packed with major engagements; from a stack of briefings to analysing proposed laws — word by word — as well as overseeing all ministers, engaging diplomats and other individuals, and also conducting international duties in Sadc, the African Union and United Nations.
The President, he said, was presently directing a massive food mobilisation to help drought-ravaged communities.
“You can, therefore, see that when some people allege that Government is auto-piloting, you don’t dignify those comments with a reply because you will be wasting your time. If you reply to blatant falsehood, you eventually engage a person. Because a person who has nothing to offer can want to take you to another level even when arguing. The best thing is to just keep quiet. That’s why some of us don’t want (to be in) the Press. It’s very rare to discuss publicly.”
He added: “When you see some people abusing such leaders because of his humility, you wonder where we came from, especially the youngsters of today. It’s our collective responsibility — the media included — to work on some of these aspects.
“We wish our media could also help us in celebrating (the President’s birthday) with everbody in a jubilant manner rather than as is the past with some sections of the media, always portraying a caricature of the person of the President. He deserves something better because he has seen it all. People should write the truth about the man of his character. He is a unique character who has been bestowed to us by God.”
On the inclusive Government, Dr Sibanda said, “As Chair of Cabinet, he managed to steer the whole process, though people were antagonistic towards each other initially. . .It was his ability to manage contradictions. They (MDC formations) started respecting President Mugabe, the leader.
“They revered him; they saw him now – that fatherly figure, that he means well, he means beyond their narrow party ideology. He is for the nation. They realised they were possibly painting the President too negatively and that was not correct. They understood the man.
“Some (after losing the elections) said, ‘If we are needed, even if it’s a Zanu-PF Government, talk to the President. Possibly we can come and serve because we want to serve.’ (They said they wanted roles) in any capacity. You could tell that it was because of how they had been handled. To me, it was amusing.”-Sunday Mail

Prophet Steals Corpse

prophet-grave
A 37-YEAR-OLD self-confessed Chiredzi prophet landed himself in trouble with the law when he removed a corpse from the coffin, ordered a refill of the grave and the destruction of the coffin before carrying the body to the top of a hill where he spent two days praying for it to resurrect but failed. This was after he was asked to deliver agraveyard sermon immediately before burial. His bid to perform the miracle that Jesus performed on Lazarus was a futility after the corpse continued to decompose at an alarming rate in the 48 hours that he prayed for it. Mourners and relatives had to contact the police after the send-off of their relative Kudakwashe Garapo was somehow disturbed after the man of the cloth Paison Musimari of Batsirai compound in Mkwasine, Chiredzi told them he can give him another lease of life through prayers.
He was arrested last week and has since appeared at the Chiredzi magistrates’ court for “violating a corpse” as defined in section 111 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23. He appeared before Ms Constance Mtandwa and was remanded out of custody to 29 February.
Circumstances as presented by the prosecutor, Mr Liberty Hove, are that following the death of Garapo whose age could not be given, Musimari was asked to preach at the graveyard before burial. It is the State’s case that Musimari took to the stage and started his sermon while Garapo’s body was lying in a closed coffin adjacent to the grave.
The State further told the court that while preaching, the accused gave a prophecy to the mourners to the effect that the deceased would resurrect the following day and warned against burying the deceased saying it was tantamount to burying someone alive.
And much to the chagrin of mourners and relatives, Musimari in a trance-like state went and opened the coffin, removed the body from it and carried it to a hilltop while ordering stunned mourners to carry the empty coffin home or possibly destroy it as well as filling in the empty grave while they wait for him to bring their resurrected relative.
Some of the relatives, however, could not stomach the sight of the unheard of miracle except in the Bible and they reported the case to the police. The following day police officers arrived and found Musimari still with the body at the top of a hill praying for it.
The court further heard that the body was already at an advanced stage of decomposition mostly due to exposure to the scorching sun and since that was the fourth day after death. The accused person was arrested and police ordered the burial of the deceased at Nyangambe that same day.-State Media

Mnangagwa Flies Off to Italy

Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa left for Rome, Italy yesterday to attend the ninth International Justice Ministers’ Meeting.
VP Mnangagwa oversees the Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs portfolio, and is travelling with senior ministry officials, among them Permanent Secretary Mrs Virginia Mabiza. Themed “No Justice Without Life”, the two-day meeting starts tomorrow.
The VP is expected to deliver an address on Zimbabwe’s position on the death penalty, homing in on the national legal system.
Zimbabwe is among countries that still have the death penalty in its statutes, a situation VP Mnangagwa has time and again said he personally does not agree with.
Significant progress has been made to limit the number of offences that attract the penalty, while women, those above the age of 70 and those below 21-years-old cannot be sentenced to capital punishment.
The Rome meeting was organised by the Community of Sant’Egidio, a lay organisation of Catholics founded in 1968 by Andrea Riccardi to promote global evangelisation and charity.
Its principles include prayer, communication with the gospel, solidarity with the poor, ecumenism and dialogue as a means of conflict resolution.
The interface has helped many countries shape national policies and legislation regarding the death penalty.
It aims to provide a platform for dialogue for countries that have taken or intend to start a path to a moratorium on capital executions, to open a debate on justice renewal, giving priority to human rights as contained in national legal systems and regional and international human rights instruments.
The underpinning principle towards the abolition of the death penalty is that it violates the rights to life and dignity.State Media

US Impounded Plane Had $60 Billion

The Western Global Airlines cargo plane impounded by security services at the Harare International Airport yesterday after the handling staff discovered a bleeding corpse aboard
The Western Global Airlines cargo plane impounded by security services at the Harare International Airport yesterday after the handling staff discovered a bleeding corpse aboard

INVESTIGATIONS have unearthed that the decomposing body found last week on a Western Global Airlines cargo plane at Harare International Airport was that of a stowaway, and that the craft was carrying about R60 billion destined for South Africa’s Reserve Bank.
Indications are that the stowayay could have died four days before his body was discovered on the plane on February 14. The plane was impounded after it landed for refuelling and Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe staff noticed blood.
Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Dr Joram Gumbo said the plane was released at midnight on Friday with the decomposed body and the billions of rand in cash.
Sources said the MD-11 trijet cargo plane, which spent five days at the airport under heavy guard, was packed with R100, R50, R20 and R10 denominations printed in Munich, Germany for the SARB as it tries to shore up that country’s flagging currency.
Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said postmortem results showed that the stowaway died from asphyxia (lack of oxygen), meaning he died after hiding on the craft.
The autopsy, she said, also indicated that the body was already being attacked by maggots, indicating he may have been dead for four days before discovery.
Snr Asst Comm Charamba confirmed that the plane was released early Saturday morning after security services, Foreign Affairs and Immigration officials had cleared it.
“There were no external or internal injuries to the body which means that there was no likelihood of foul play or murder. The fact that he had no internal or external injuries also shows that he got on the plane alive but later died of asphyxia,” Snr Asst Comm Charamba said. She said the ZRP had sent a notice to Interpol to trace the stowaway’s nationality in Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Uganda, Belgium and Germany because the Florida-based Western Global Airlines plane passed through these countries before it landed in Zimbabwe.
The man’s fingerprints were sent to the same countries. Officials at the airport who cannot be named for professional reasons told The Sunday Mail that the stowaway had unkempt hair, a dirty t-shirt, trousers held up by a piece of cloth improvised as a belt, and worn out slippers. Western Global Airlines cargo aircraft crew requested for landing authority in Zimbabwe after they had failed to secure landing instructions at King Tshaka Airport, Durban from their company.
The police spokesperson said Zimbabwe allowed the plane to land in line with provisions of the Convention on International Civil Aviation which provides that member states can render assistance to distressed international air services.
“The cargo plane itinerary indicates that its original departure place was Liege Belgium on 11 February 2016 and it made a stopover in Abidjan Ivory Coast, on the same day. 12 February 2016 Abuja Nigeria, Intebbe Uganda then 13 February 2016 to Liege Belgium and later Munich Germany where they picked up their consignment meant for the Reserve Bank of South Africa,” said Snr Asst Comm Charamba.
The plane crew – two Americans, a Pakistani and a South African – spent the past week at a five-star hotel in the city centre while SARB officials were “sleeping on the plane” as Zimbabwean security agents stood guard outside.
In 2004, Zimbabwe aviation authorities impounded a plane with 64 mercenaries led by Simon Mann on board as they planned to who to stage a coup in Equatorial Guinea.State Media

Another “Dzamara” Abducted by CIOs, Missing for 5 Days

A Gwanda based political activist Mr Shyton Elliott who was abducted in broad daylight by suspected members of the Central Intelligence Organisation on Tuesday morning is still missing five days on.
Eye witnesses say that Elliott was taken away by armed men who pounced on him at a hair salon at Phakama Business Centre in Gwanda around mid day on Tuesday.
The witnesses claim that the men numbering about ten driving in two vehicles, a white Toyota twin cab and a blackish Toyota corolla sedan, pounced on the unsuspecting Elliott while he sat with a friend at the hair salon and threw him into the back seat of the sedan before driving away.
A witness who would not be named said that the men could have been monitoring Elliott for a while as they picked him up as soon the numbers had decreased at the slightly isolated shop.
“They didn’t even take two minutes. They were very fast and swift so much that the few people who were around the shop didn’t even realise what had just happened. The move was like an action movie and the guys appeared very highly trained in what they were doing” said the witness.
“The men arrived in the two vehicles, rushed into the shop where Elliott was, some of them carrying pistols and didn’t even talk to anyone but just handcuffed him and threw him in the car. They swiftly drove away, and we were all left shell shocked wondering what was happening,” he added.
Police in Gwanda denied having Elliott within their custody nor having him in their cells anytime this week. They also claim that they have not received a report of a missing person from his family.
Meanwhile, other sources say that people similar to those who took away the very vocal activist had been spotted at a drinking place in the area the previous evening where Elliott was also drinking and castigating ZANU PF and President Mugabe.
Witnesses say that Elliott was loudly denouncing Mugabe as a failure telling fellow guzzlers that they must rally behind former Vice President Joyce Mujuru to remove Mugabe.
According to sources, one of the suspected CIO agents joined in the discussion and tried to interrogate Elliott on why he was calling Mugabe old and failed which led to Elliott calling the agent names and threatening to “beat him up together with all other ZANU PF supporters and all of Mugabe’s CIOs.”
“We are very certain that the people who took him away included those who were at the bar the previous evening,” said one source.
“We can positively identify the black sedan that took him away as the very vehicle that the guys he clashed with the previous night were driving. The vehicle did not have a registration plate at the back and has very dark windows,” said the sources.
Members from his family refused to speak to media citing security concerns. Another political activist Itai Dzamara was abducted in Harare in a similar manner and has not been seen almost a year on.

Museveni Wins Rigged Election by 60%

Veteran leader declared winner with 60 percent of votes in election marred by violence and strong evidence of ballot fraud.
Yoweri Museveni, who has ruled Uganda for 30 years, has been re-elected the country’s president in an election overshadowed by arrests of politicians and evidence of rigging.
A week before elections, Museveni had announced that he will not step down until the whole east Africa is merged into one country.-Click here to READ MORE –

The country’s election body declared Museveni, 71, the winner on Saturday afternoon with more than 60 percent of the votes cast.
Museveni, a former rebel who seized power in 1986, was widely expected to win a fifth term, which will now extend his power into a fourth decade.MUSEVENI LETTER
His closest rival, Kizza Besigye, 59, obtained about 35 percent of the vote. Shortly before the election result was declared, the country’s security forces put Besigye under house arrest.
Police carried out multiple arrests of opposition activists, including Besigye, during the vote.
House arrest
Police have arrested Besigya four times since the day of election and he is currently detained at his house in the capital Kampala.
Besigye’s third arrest was caught by Al Jazeera cameras as he tried to access a house where ballots were suspected of being altered.
The general elections were marked by protests by opposition supporters against alleged ballot fraud [AP/Ben Curtis]
On Friday police in riot gear set off stun grenades and fired tear gas at Besigye supporters, who responded by hurling rocks and erecting street barricades.
John Kerry, US secretary of state, called Museveni to voice concern over Besigye’s detention, harassment of opposition figures and the shutdown of social media such as Facebook and Twitter.
Police officials said they were at Besigya’s home as a preventive measure to prevent a further escalation of violence and denied detaining him.
Besigye was Museveni’s field doctor during the war which brought him to power, and served as deputy interior minister in his first cabinet.
He broke ranks with Museveni in 1999, saying the president was no longer a democrat.
On Saturday, Besigye rejected the outcome of the polls and reportedly called it a sham. He has called for an independent audit of the results.- AlJazeera

Zika Virus in South Africa

zika virus mosquitoA Colombian businessman, who is visiting South Africa, has been diagnosed with the Zika virus, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi said on Friday.
“The confirmation of this particular case poses no risk to the South African population as the virus is not transmitted from human to human but through the Aedes aegypti mosquito and or possibly from mother to the foetus in pregnant women,” Motsoaledi said.
“A case of sexual transmission was recently reported in the US but is still regarded as very rare.”
The businessman was diagnosed by a private Johannesburg pathology laboratory. The National Institute for Communicable Diseases is performing a confirmation test.
Motsoaledi’s spokesperson Joe Maila said the businessman presented with fever and a rash about four days after he arrived in the country but he is now fully recovered.
“The infection was acquired in Colombia prior to his visit to Johannesburg for business. Colombia is experiencing a large outbreak of the Zika virus.”
He said the virus is present in the blood of a patient for a very short time – typically less than seven days.
A person carrying the virus in their blood will have to be bitten by a correct subtype of an Aedes aegypti mosquito within this time for the virus to be transmitted to the next person through a bite from the same mosquito.
“The Aedes mosquito that transmit the Zika virus in South America also transmit dengue fever and yellow fever, but these viruses are not found in South Africa, indicating that the local Aedes mosquito does not contribute to the spread of the Zika virus,” Maila said.
“Given the frequency of travel between South Africa and a number of countries currently experiencing outbreaks of the Zika virus, it is likely that other sporadic imported cases will be seen here in travellers as has been the experience in a number of countries.”
The World Health Organisation said the Zika virus is “spreading explosively” in the Americas and the region may see up to four million cases of the disease strongly suspected of causing birth defects.

Zimbabwe To Experience Worst Human Rights Abuses-Crisis In Zimbabwe Coalition

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CIZC) says the country is going to experience the worst human rights violations perpetrated on citizens by the military as a result of Zanu PF in fighting.
Reacting to the  attacks on former liberation war fighters by the police in Harare this week, CIZC said armed forces should  protect citizens.
Heavily armed police on Thursday descended on war veterans who had gathered for a meeting in the capital.
They used teargas and water cannons to disperse the peaceful gathering alleging that the Indaba was illegal.
“We fear for the worst in terms of human rights abuses emanating from armed forces’ brutality against Zimbabwean citizens given the current infighting within the ruling party, Zanu PF,”said the civil society representative group.
“We implore the security services to desist from serving partisan interests as enshrined under the country’s constitution”.
Crisis says it is disappointed to note that armed forces are being used by politicians.
“CIZC castigates the manipulation of the security services to push selfish agendas by those in the echelons of power and implores the security sector to respect people’s constitutional rights such as the right to peaceful demonstrations as well as freedom of expression and association”.

AUDIO:Pastor Sunday Adelaja Admits Sex Attacks On Church Women|EXCLUSIVE

for the Russian version, CLICK HERE

A Nigerian pastor in charge of a 1,5million member congregation called, “Embassy of God,” once famed for running the largest church in Europe, Sunday Adelaja, has been caught in a damning sex scandal with him at the centre of it all as the vile beast of iniquity.

Adelaja has admitted to ZimEye.com he has sexually abused several women in his church in Ukraine’s capital, Kiev. He also admitted he is currently planning to flee Ukraine following the piling pressure from his abuses. As he begins plotting to flee Ukraine to Nigeria and fearing police arrest, he has been exposed for not only abusing the women, but admitting to an undercover journalist that he did it all.
Following this expose Adelaja’s phone and computer devices have been tagged under 24hour surveillance amid confessions that he is plotting criminal ways of hacking the evidence before it lands in the hands of the police.*ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW; Also see AUDIO recording at the bottom of the article.

Victims who have since last year followed ZimEye.com’s excusive expose’s on other dodgy preachers early last week telephoned ZimEye from their base in Kiev and meetings arranged soon after that, following which the pastor then admitted to his vile acts in the face of the shocking footage revealing Adelaja as the sex beast who has been abusing these young women one of them who ended up committing suicide under an emotional breakdown as a result.

caught red handed, and by his own confession…Sunday Adelaja

The undercover ZimEye journo contacted him under the guise of an empathising prophet who in a long 36 minute discussion pretended to be supporting the preacher in his nefarious acts telling him do not worry God is in control, all the pictures and videos “will be deleted”.
At 10.13pm UK time on Wednesday night, ZimEye.com engaged the top pastor via telephone after several nude pictures as well as testimonials caught him red handed. He was exposed through the easiest way when telephoned by the anonymous “Prophet sent by God” to encourage him during his present trying times in the scandal and within that subtle conversation obliviously admitted it all.
Adelaja even went to the extent of waking his wife up telling her please listen to this man of God who is giving me an accurate message from God.
When the journo’s calling credit had run out at 10.21pm, the Pastor even telephoned ZimEye back and as the journo explains, “because I was telling him the “mighty prophetic words,” he trusted me so much to even wake his wife up“.
Said Adelaja, “Princess I don’t know who this person is but I don’t know how he got my number, and I was going to sleep, and I was saying my God why am I not sleeping? Because I am getting ready for tomorrow, and then I was saying God let me sleep, because I need strength for tomorrow. …
“I was just meditating and I said whose number is this? So I picked it,” he tells his wife before putting his phone on loud speaker mode. *ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW; Also see AUDIO recording at the bottom of the article.

The journo narrates the story now on the impeccable full audio record,
I spoke several “prophetic” words telling him nice things which he loves to hear and he would at every turn answer back with loud Amens.
In the long conversation, Adelaja boldly affirms with loud Amens and exclamations of “in Jesus’ name!” throughout the entire discourse.
While being told,”what you are faced with, these sexual stories…and these women, you did this and that with them. Whatever it is, all that they have stored on their phones and on their Ipads, forget about it, it will be deleted….and it will not come back,” Adelaja responds with loud screams of “In Jesus’ Name,” and “Amen.”
He also shouts out in further affirmation saying, “Yes”.
He continues, “in Jesus name I receive it!”
He is told not to leave the country as the investigation around his misconduct is not going to see him being tried(according to the supposition).
Soon after the conversation he then asks if he can save the journo’s number for future guidance.
He appears to indicate he will no longer leave the country as previously planned.
The development is said to demonstrate how human beings are milking millions of church folk under the pretext of the Man Of God, and the prophetic mantra. LISTEN TO THE FOLLOWING AUDIO SNIPPET which is taken from the 28:00 minute marker.

The full serialised telephone recording is being streamed on the ZimEye Youtube channel and available for download upon request from the ZimEye facebook page inbox – https://www.facebook.com/ZimEye ..

Cop Brutally Bashes Motorist For Pirating

By Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo|A police officer last week brutally assaulted a local motorist accusing him of pirating.

Stephen Radzoka got the shock of his life when Constable Bothwell Razerera pounced on him after he dropped off a woman in the city centre. Razerera accused Radzoka of illegally pirating and he forced his way into the latter’s car. The cop began to assault Radzoka with clenched fists and open palms all over his body.

During the assault Radzoka fell down and sustained a deep cut above the left eye. Radzoka received three stitches on the left eye as a result of the assault.
“When I got up the police officer had already fled from the scene because the crowd came to the place baying for the cop’s blood,” reads part of Radzoka’s statement.
When Radzoka arrived at Masvingo Central Police Station he was surprised when he was accused of beating the police officer and was charged with assault since the cop had made a statement ahead of him.
Sources claimed Razerera demanded a bribe from Radzoka and the latter refused, leading to the scuffle. Radzoka’s lawyer Charles Ndlovu of Ndlovu and Hwacha Legal Practitioners has since filed papers opposing the prosecution of his client arguing he is the one who was bashed by the cop.
Masvingo Police Spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula said she was not aware of the incident.
“We have not received anything to that effect,” she said.
The police have been accused of trying to protect one of their own after the barbaric incident. In Zimbabwe the police have crossed paths with the public on several occasions because of the partisan manner in which they execute their duties.

Beating Up Sick War Veterans

The Zanu-PF Youth League has distanced itself from utterances by the organ’s deputy secretary Kudzanai Chipanga that the wing was ready to fight veterans of the liberation struggle, as well as staging a demonstration against the State Media.
Chipanga told some youths that they should get ready for war against war veterans whom he said were fewer than the youths whom he said constituted 65 percent of the population.
He also claimed that war veterans were suffering from sugar diabetes, and as such, would not last a protracted confrontation.
But in an interview with the State Media yesterday, Pupurai Togarepi said the youth league respected veterans of the struggle, as such they had no reason to fight them.
“There is no reason to fight the war veterans because we are learning a lot from them,” he said. “They are the people who showed their resilience in liberating this country. So, there is no reason whatsoever.
“The majority of our youths who are in the executive of our structures are children of veterans of the liberation struggle who are war veterans, war collaborators and ex- detainees. So they would not fight their own parents.
“The position of the Youth League is that these founding fathers of our revolution are critical for us to learn from and move forward with our revolution.”
Togarepi said the revolutionary party had mechanisms in place to deal with personal clashes among members of its organs.
“I have talked to my deputy ( Chipanga) about that issue and he showed me that he had no intention to have any misunderstanding with the war veterans but it could have been a statement that was misread or misunderstood.
Togarepi also said the Youth League had no right to demonstrate against the State Media as incited by Chipanga. He said they had no problems with the State Media, or any journalists, but were against denigration of the party leadership by some party officials and some sections of the media.
“the Herald must continue to do its work and must continue to do that without any fear or favour. There won’t be youths coming there to have any confrontation with the media there or any person there. It is not our way of doing things.
“Otherwise we have nothing against any journalist, but obviously we get offended when journalists, time and again, insult our leaders. It has become a norm that journalists will insult the President, insult the Vice Presidents- Mnangagwa and Mphoko, the First Lady and many other leaders are subjected to a lot of abuse,” said Togarepi.
He also confirmed meeting President Mugabe where they deliberated about the conduct of the youths and the role they should play in the development of the country.
“The President said (we should) ensure that youths are busy. They work for themselves and work for this country. He said there is no need for them to involve themselves in areas that affect their stature as responsible youths. So he said do whatever you can to direct youths to be responsible, well-groomed, well-educated and advised as future leaders.
Togarepi who addressed a Press conference earlier, defended the 21st February Movement celebrations saying it was worthwhile, given President Mugabe’s role in the independence of the country.
He was fielding questions from journalists who asked why the party did not direct the money that has been mobilised for the celebrations towards procuring food for citizens facing hunger.
“We are celebrating the life of a person who has brought so much good to his country. These problems are not unique to Zimbabwe. There are authorities in Zimbabwe that are supposed to look after the social needs, feeding needs of our people,” Togarepi said.

Mujuru A Vot Thief- Biti

attack on Mujuru... Tendai Biti
attack on Mujuru… Tendai Biti

By Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| In yet another incident reflecting discord in Zimbabwe’s opposition parties, People’s Democratic Party(PDP) leader Tendai Biti has accused former Vice President Joice Mujuru of attempting to destroy his party by stealing perceived key votaries.

In a sad trend that has seen opposition parties in Zimbabwe trading accusations, turning attention from the current economic woes created by President Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF’s controversial policies, Biti lambasted Mujuru for attempting to destroy the PDP by targeting key members of his party.

ZimEye.com is told Biti who was in Masvingo recently came out with guns blazing as he attacked Mugabe’s former deputy. Biti was reacting to district reports during a closed door meeting with members of the provincial executive in Target Kopje, Masvingo, also accused Mujuru of playing hide and seek with other opposition parties. “Taking members of other parties cannot get the People First anywhere. You have to begin from the grassroots and then market yourself to the electorate. Why are the People First guys untouchable?
“Not even one of them has been arrested.
“If they are persecuted the way other parties are being tormented by Zanu PF then we know that they are genuine.
Let them get beaten, abducted and arrested then we know they are serious. Mujuru thinks she can build her party by snatching our members-thats is an ill-conceived political strategy,” said Biti.
The PDP leader who is expected to be a key member of the grand coalition, also distanced his party from a fusion with Mujuru adding it would be difficult to trust the People First politicians and singled out Claudius Makova as the man who terrorised opposition supporters in Bikita. With the major players in opposition politics distancing themselves from each other, hopes of a grand coalition set to mount a stiff challenge against Mugabe could remain a pipe dream.

Mugabe Is No Zezuru-Mphoko

President Mugabe is a national leader who remains guided by the wartime mantra of “Mwana wevhu” which pre-empted any notions of tribalism and regionalism leading to the successful execution of the war of liberation, Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has said.
He said tribalism was a political modus operandi of the Rhodesians which should not be tolerated.
“We should promote the notion of ‘son of the soil’ like what used to happen during the war. Not that I am from Manicaland, I am from Masvingo or I am from Matabeleland. No!” said VP Mphoko.
“A ‘son of the soil’ does not come from a region and does not have a creed. He or she is just a Zimbabwean. That is what we should promote. Not that someone is Ndebele and another is a Karanga.”
He said President Mugabe and the late Vice President Joshua Nkomo variously worked with a lot of people from different tribes during the war but never resorted to tribalism.
VP Mphoko was addressing thousands of people at a rally at Marisamhuka Centre in Mhondoro to garner support for Zanu-PF candidate in the Mhondoro-Mubaira by-election George Gangarahwe.
“I want to repeat what I said in Chiweshe. If you see yourself saying that President Mugabe is Zezuru, then you don’t know what we fought for. And if you say that President Mugabe is Zezuru and should be replaced by a Ndau, Ndebele and Karanga that is not what we fought for,” he said.
He said President Mugabe is not Zezuru but a national leader and so is he and Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa who are Ndebele and Karanga respectively.
VP Mphoko said no one can claim to be a war veteran, or a member of Zanu-PF while denigrating the President and First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe.
“Those who denigrate the President and First Lady are not Zanu-PF. There is no war veteran under the command who can turn against the President. You cannot have someone break a sweat while denigrating the leadership and claim to be Zanu-PF,” he said.
War veterans gathered at the City Sports Centre in Harare on Thursday to hold a feedback meeting, but it was disrupted by police who said it was not sanctioned.
Vp Mphoko said there are some cadres who were part of the Mujuru cabal who realised the folly of their ways and should be welcomed back into the party.
“Commissar, you have a lot of work to talk to cadres that we have worked with for a long time who have remained loyal to the party so that we welcome them back to the party. People like Shamu (Webster),” he said.
Shamu made a slogan denouncing the upstart Zimbabwe People First party and Dr Joice Mujuru before hailing President Mugabe and First Lady Amai Dr Mugabe. Party secretary for administration Dr Ignatius Chombo said President Mugabe is the sole party candidate for 2018.
“At the Victoria Falls Conference the convocation on page 14 of the party constitution clearly states that our President (Mugabe) as selected at the 2014 Congress will represent the party in 2018,” said Dr Chombo.
“If there is anyone who wants to contest, they can only get the mandate in 2019 to stand for elections in 2023.”
National political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere said Zanu-PF has no shortage of manpower and if any cadres go wayward like Sylvester Nguni they can be expelled and replaced.
Mashonaland West party provincial chairman Ephraim Chengeta said the party had mobilised support for its candidate Gangarahwe in the March 5 by-election. The seat fell vacant following the expulsion and subsequent recall from Parliament of Mr Nguni.
The rally was also attended by Senate president Edna Madzongwe, Mberengwa South legislator Makhosini Hlongwane and Mashonaland West Minister of State Faber Chidarikire among others.

Mugabe Shoots at Mutsvangwa

Mutsvangwa has acted irresponsibly-Mugabe

mugabe-angry-750
State Media – President Robert Mugabe has issued a stern warning to the war veterans leader, Christopher Mutsvangwa for misleading war veterans and the nation at large by calling for an unsanctioned meeting which, however, flopped on Thursday after police intervention.
In a State of the Nation Address at State House in Harare today, Mugabe castigated Mutsvangwa for organising an illegal demonstration without informing the party leadership and government.
“Mutsvangwa did not inform me, the VPs or security ministers about the war veterans meeting. We take exception to that, he (Mutsvangwa) has acted in a manner we describe as irresponsible, completely irresponsible,” – said President Mugabe.
Mugabe, who is also the patron of the war veterans association apologised for the ill-treatment of war veterans some of them who were unfortunately tear-gased by the police, saying the blame lies squarely in their chairman and minister (Mutsvangwa).
“People were naturally hurt or at least they had this water from cannons come on their bodies and teargas as well. Mutsvangwa bears responsibility for inviting war vets, he abused authority as Minister in the gravest way possible, we take exception to that,” the President said.
He however, demanded that Mutsvangwa as the Minister of War Veterans should explain his intended hidden agenda to mobilise such a demonstration without following proper channels.
“Mutsvangwa being a Minister cannot at the end, after police have taken action against illegal meeting, complain he was ill-treated,” President Mugabe said.
Mugabe said the party and government will not hesitate to take action against Mutsvangwa’s unbecoming behaviour which he described as a disgrace to the nation.
President condemns party dog fights

President Mugabe also condemned the dog fights that have rocked the revolutionary party over the past few weeks saying the so-called G40 and Lacoste factions should shut up.
“Those who say we are G40 or Lacoste shut up, stop dividing the party,” said President Mugabe.
President Mugabe, who was flanked by the two vice presidents, Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, did not mince his words as he condemned the so-called two factions, adding that quarrels based on tribalism and regionalism should stop forthwith.
He said Zimbabweans are sons and daughters of the soil and such issues of tribalism and regionalism are not part of our culture saying the leadership of the ruling party and government condemns such uncalled for behaviour.
President Mugabe called for oneness and urged all Zimbabweans to guard against western machinations which are aimed at dividing the nation.
“War veterans must unite. The ministry will remain, but we don’t want confusion,” said President Mugabe
Meanwhile, President Mugabe has praised the youths for their preparations for the 21st February Movement celebrations to be held in Great Zimbabwe next week in Masvingo.
He said he is happy with the venue, adding that the forthcoming celebrations should be marked with unity, peace and stability amongst the youths and the elders.
Mugabe implored the youths to avoid abusing drugs and urged them to respect the elders for the good of the party.

Uganda Shuts Twitter, Facebook during Voting

Uganda blocks social media and mobile phone services during voting.
Police in Uganda have shut down Twitter and Facebook restricting access to all social media sites as voters went to the polls in today’s presidential elections.
The cops also arrested opposition leader Kizza Besigye at his party’s headquarters on Friday after heavily armed police surrounded the building and a helicopter fired tear gas at a crowd. Vote counting continued in the country’s tumultuous elections.
Semujju Nganda, a spokesperson for Besigye’s Forum for Democratic Change party, said police took Besigye to an unknown location. Afterward, they fired tear gas and live ammunition into the air as warning shots, as well as detonating stun grenades.
Besigye, the main rival to President Yoweri Museveni, had been holding a meeting with other leaders of his party, said Ingrid Turinawe, an aide to Besigye.
“The police basically invaded us,” she said.
Uganda’s Communications Commission cited an unspecified threat to national security to justify blocking access to Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp at around 8 a.m. local time, an hour after voting began. Access to the services remained blocked on mobile phones at 9:15 p.m. local time.
“These social media platforms are an important tool for gathering and publicizing news from around Uganda on polling day,” CPJ Deputy Executive Director Robert Mahoney said from New York. “Closing them raises suspicions that any irregularities in voting may not be reported in a timely manner. Such censorship undermines the democratic process.”
The Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN), a leading provider of mobile-phone service in the country, said on Twitter that the commission had ordered it to disable all social media and mobile money-transferring services “due to a threat to public order and safety.” It was not immediately clear if all mobile phone companies had complied with the order.
President Yoweri Museveni, who is seeking to extend his 30-year tenure, speaking about social media, yesterday told television viewers, “Some people misuse those pathways. You know how they use them — telling lies. If you want a right, use it properly.”
The committee for the protection of journalists (CPJ) has documented a series of repressive measures against the media in the weeks ahead of the elections, including physical attacks on journalists, the closure of radio stations, and the arrest of a radio talk show host in the middle of his broadcast.

Kasukuwere Ambushes Mnangagwa

kasukuwere
Hopes that ZANU PF commissar Saviour Kasukuwere is climbing down from his “anti-Mnangagwa” drive, were dashed on Thursday when the man moved to dissolve all who are resisting his suspensions.

The governing Zanu PF has resolved to dissolve three provincial executives aligned to Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa who are frantically trying to head off the dethronement of their chairpersons.
Kasukuwere, nicknamed Tyson, told the Daily News that Mashonaland East, Masvingo, and Midlands that are resisting the suspension of their chairpersons, Joel Biggie Matiza, Ezira Chadzamira and Kizito Chivamba respectively, would be dissolved.
The three were suspended on allegations of indiscipline and inciting insolence, and violent conduct.
“The three remain suspended and any attempt by the respective provinces to defy that will not be tolerated. The party will fire the entire provinces without fear.
“We will not accept any form of indiscipline in the party, so the concerned provinces must watch out,” Kasukuwere warned ominously.
The combative Zanu PF politburo member also dismissed the supposed counter suspension of Masvingo provincial political commissar Jeppy Jaboon and women’s league chairperson Veronica Makonese as null and void.
“They cannot be suspended by an illegal gathering of people pursuing a factional agenda. They remain in their positions but like I said we are dealing with the provinces and soon there will be order there,” Kasukuwere said.
Jaboon and Makonese were accused by the Mnangagwa protégés in Masvingo of causing the suspension of Chadzamira.
In the interim, Kasukuwere said, Tapuwa Matangaidze, the Midlands provincial secretary for administration has been given the mandate to step in, while Mashonaland East deputy chair Bernard Makokove replaces Matiza.
At a Zanu PF Matabeleland North provincial co-ordinating committee meeting in Lupane last week, Kasukuwere warned Zanu PF supporters in all provinces that errant party members would be dismissed.
Among those present were Zanu PF politburo members Jonathan Moyo, Obert Mpofu, Cain Mathema, Patrick Zhuwao, Matabeleland North provincial chairperson Richard Moyo and Central Committee member Clifford Sibanda — all of whom are aligned to the G4O.

Boy Drowns In Rusape River

river drownA swimming expedition by three Rusape 15-year-old school boys ended tragically after one of them failed to swim and drowned in Rusape River last Saturday afternoon.
Livingstone Marufu of Mabvazuva high-density suburb a Form Two pupil at St Joseph’s High School was swimming in the company of his friends and classmates, Isaac Jangano and Prosper Muza when tragedy struck.
The young trio was swimming near the gauges of Rusape Dam where there is a footpath that people uses to cross the river when it is not flooded.
Witnesses said when Isaac and Prosper discovered that Livingstone was drowning they called for help and some members of the public attempted to rescue him, but in vain as they claimed that ‘they were also being pulled by something in the water.’
Rusape District police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Muzondiwa Clean, confirmed the incident and warned members of the public against swimming in rivers and also against crossing rivers on undesignated areas.
“Livingstone Marufu went to Rusape River to swim together with his friends, Isaac Jangano and Prosper Muza on Saturday around 3pm. When they were swimming, Livingstone went to the deepest part and failed to swim and drowned.
“Police Sub-aqua Unit retrieved his body on Sunday morning. We continue to urge members of the public not to swim in rivers and to use bridges when crossing rivers,” he said.
The drowning of Livingstone comes barely a month after a decomposed body of a suspected vagrant was discovered by fisherman in the same river, fuelling speculation that there were mermaids in the river.
According to some senior citizens in the town, not even a single female has drowned in the river, fuelling speculation that the mermaid is female.State Media

Chanakira’s Botswana Assets Go Under The Hammer

The ZANU PF mentored businessman Nigel Chanakira who was smuggled into the University of Zimbabwe as a student under the indigenisation program when he had no papers to match the criteria, is in trouble.
The man’s business empire across the borders has continued to crumble.
Chanakira’s Kingdom Bank Africa Limited (KBAL) assets are set to go under the hammer in Botswana, in a move described by analysts as a final nail to the entrepreneur’s fast crashing empire.
nigel chanakira
KBAL, which had no resident depositors based in Botswana, was in May last year placed under liquidation due to insolvency after an audit uncovered an $18,7 million mismatch between assets and liabilities.
The financial institution’s liquidator, Max Marinelli, this week invited KBAL creditors and depositors to a second meeting to be held in Botswana on March 3, 2016 to approve the disposal of assets belonging to the company.
“In particular the building on Plot 115, unit 23, Kgale Mews, Gaborone, a motor vehicle and office equipment and furniture,” he said.
This comes after the bank’s creditors declined to give the liquidator autonomous authority to sell the assets of the defunct offshore organisation.
In a seven-hour long heated meeting in November last year, creditors refused to adopt resolutions that would have authorised Marinelli to execute the liquidation, beginning with the sale of the KBAL headquarters in Gaborone.
According to the Company’s Act, a liquidator is only empowered to execute his duties by a set of resolutions adopted from a full creditors’ meeting.
The KBAL creditors instead, proposed to form a steering committee that would work hand in glove with the liquidator and jointly approve the sale of any assets.
Among some of KBAL assets to be liquidated include KBAL building in Kgale Mews, telecommunications equipment in Harare plus a $11 million loan book, whose recoverability is truncated by geographical challenges as well as Zimbabwe’s depressed economic landscape.
According to the balance sheet compiled by Marinelli in May 2015, KBAL had liabilities to the amount of $19,1 million.
On the other side of the balance sheet, the bank owns assets worth a mere $2,4 million with the bulk of that money in the form of advances to customers amounting to $1,8 million.
On the best-case scenario, Marinelli, however, estimated that the recovery rate can rise to 27 percent as the recoverability of the advances to customers and assets held offshore cannot be fully ascertained at present.
Information at hand shows that KBAL’s liquidity and solvency matters largely stem from a shareholder dispute at its parent company in Harare, which resulted in the offshore bank losing $17 million in near-cash financial instruments invested in the holding company, Kingdom Financial Holdings Limited (KFHL).
KBAL was registered in Botswana in 2003 with KFHL, as its parent company and technical partner.
KFHL would later enter into a partnership with Mauritius-based AfrAsia, but the business later ran into financial difficulties resulting in a separation between Chanakira and AfrAsia.
The $17 million investment made by KBAL in KFHL could not be retrieved due to liquidity constraints in Zimbabwe, resulting in the shareholders agreeing to swap assets.
Chanakira was thus bought out of KFHL through 100 percent ownership in KBAL as well as some telecommunications equipment owned by the banking group.
The equipment which KBAL estimates to be worth $10 million has however been written down to zero value by the temporary managers or $1 million in the best-case recoverability scenario.
The liquidators have also written down KBAL’s loans and advances to customers worth $11,6 million to $1,7 million due to recoverability uncertainties. Daily News

I Had Sex with Headmaster in his Office, Minor Speaks

SUSPENDED Hartzell High School head, Shorwi Kawadza, had a love affair with the orphaned minor he allegedly sexually abused and infected with a serious sexually transmitted disease, the investigation officer told the court. Sergeant Itai Chandata of Penhalonga Police Station, said this when Kawadza was finally arraigned before Mutare Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday as trial proceeding in the case kicked off.
The two doctors who treated the minor at Old Mutare Mission Hospital, Drs Panganai Mutsaa and Tendai Paul Manyeza, also testified before Mutare magistrate, Mr Langton Mkwengi on Tuesday, while the investigating officer testified on Wednesday.
Kawadza was in the dock as the first accused, while acting Fairfield Home administrator, Cecilia Thobani, who allegedly assisted Kawadza in committing the crime, was the second accused.
Kawadza was represented by Mr Victor Chinzamba of Mugadza, Chinzamba and Partners, while Thobani was represented by Mr Ranga Muhloro-Mubata of Mubata, Chigadza and Associates.
It was a sorry sight when the minor who was seated next to an unidentified lady and Thobani on Tuesday morning sobbed bitterly just outside the courtroom before being calmed by the pair.
The matter was adjourned to March 15 for continuation of trail. However, the court heard that Sergeant Chandata received a tip-off to the effect that the person who actually had a sexual relationship with the minor and infected her with a sexually transmitted disease was Kawadza.
“I received a tip-off that the person who had actually had a sexual relationship with the minor and infected her with a sexually transmitted disease is Kawadza. “I proceeded to Murwira Children’s Home in Marange the next day in the company of other two police officers – Constable Chizaza and Sergeant Taruva – where I met the minor in the presence of the matron at the children’s home.
“During that interview done in the presence of Matron Mugugu and the two officers, the minor informed me that Kawadza called her to his office and congratulated her for having had secured a place at the school albeit having poor results.
“She revealed to me that she would call her and give her briefings about the state of the school. At that time she had lost count of how many times she had been called to the headmaster’s office. She revealed to me that he made a love proposal, which she accepted.
“From July 2013 to January 2014, they had an affair, but never slept together. She then revealed to me that they started having sexual intercourse in January 2014 with the minor’s consent.
“She said they did it in the headmaster’s office. After the sex orgies, she said she would be given gifts like chocolates. She also told me that they would sleep together at the Guest House at the Fairfield Children’s Home.
“She also told me that accused two (Thobani) would call her to her office and ordered her to go and see accused one (Kawadza) at the guest house.
“She told me that in September 2015 she contracted an STI which she said was a result of the sexual intercourses she had with Kawadza. She said she told the matron about the STI and was referred to the hospital for treatment where she said was treated by Dr Mutsaa,” said the investigating officer.
The defence counsel objected, arguing that the investigating officer should narrate her findings after investigations and not reproduce the account of the complainant, which she would also narrate herself to the court.
The objection was overruled. Sgt Chandata went on to tell the court that the minor told her that there was recurrence of the infection. “The infection recurred for the third time and Dr Mutsaa and Dr Manyeza complained about it as they brought the matter to the attention of the second accused (Thobani). Following that a report was made to ZRP Penhalonga.
“She also told me that the day before she was taken to police she was summoned to the headmaster’s office. A Form Four student was sent to call her from class. She was excused from Mrs Mudonhi’s lesson and upon arrival at the headmaster’s office he was alone. She said he gave her $40.
“She said he told him never to reveal his name in this case, but instead should implicate her teacher identified as Mr William Mukwindidza. However, she highlighted to me that Mr Mukwindidza was not even her teacher. When she got back to the home, she said she was also told by accused two (Thobani) that she should never mention the headmaster, but Mr Mukwindidza as the perpetrator.
“Having that information I went on to verify some facts that I could and went on to arrest Kawadza and Thobani,” she said.
Earlier on, Dr Mutsaa and Dr Manyeza had told the court that they treated the minor with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). Dr Mutsaa said the minor had told him that he had had slept with an unnamed teacher at the school twice in his office.
When Dr Manyeza latter attended to the child, he said the minor had told her that she had slept with her boyfriend from Manica Bridge or Pafiwa area at the school grounds twice.
Dr Manyeza, however, said the next time that he attended to the minor she was more confident and volunteered more information and that is when she confided in him that she had slept with a teacher at the school in his office twice.
At the time the court adjourned, the defence counsel was cross-examining the investigation officer labouring to prove that the minor could not be trusted as she pointed out several individuals as perpetrators of the crime. Manica Post

Another “Dzamara” Abducted

Suspected members of the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) have abducted  Tendai Biti led People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Matabeleland South provincial secretary for security, Elliot Shelton, the party has said.
The party’s information department said ,Shelton was on Wednesday afternoon abducted by some unknown men who were driving unmarked two white double-cab vehicles.
“The PDP demands the urgent release of Shelton and we hold the state and Zanu PF responsible for the abduction,” said the party.
“We underscore the need for total change in Zimbabwe where the rule of law is upheld and people are respected regardless of their political affiliations”.
PDP said like what happened to the ex- Journalist-cum human rights activist Itai Dzamara whose whereabouts remain unknown since last year in March the same could have happened to their official.
“As the PDP, we demand that Shelton’s abductors must release him to his family and we will make all efforts to secure his location and safe release,” said PDP.
“Zimbabwe cannot continue to feign being a democracy yet its citizens who dare criticize the rotten Zanu  PF leadership are not guaranteed of safety”.

Police Crush Dissent As Mugabe Ally Starves Chisumbanje Workers

rautenbach secret dealByTerrence Mawawa|Workers at Chisumbanje Ethanol company owned by President Robert Mugabe’s business partner Billy Rautenbach, have gone for 8 months without salaries and have had anti-riot police details deployed to crush dissent.
The ethanol plan’s business was granted exclusive state access after Rautenbach deceived government claiming he would provide electricity for the whole of Manicaland year in year out.
Workers at his ethanol plant say employees are passing out on duty due to hunger and efforts to resolve the matter have proved fruitless since the police “are constantly quashing” their protests.
“We have gone for 8 months without salaries and our efforts to engage the management have been ruthlessly thwarted by the police. There are police details who are monitoring the situation round the clock. We are only getting a paltry $ 70 each as part of a working allowance. Rautenbach is nowhere to be seen and we are getting agitated by the situation,” said an employee based at Chisumbanje plant.
The workers also said Rautenbach was riding on political immunity because of his closeness to Mugabe.
“We call upon the president to intervene in the situation before the whole thing gets out of hand . We are tired of working for nothing. In-fact we are generating a lot of money here but we are toiling for nothing ,” said another employee based at Middle Sabi ethanol plant.
Rautenbach is also one of Mugabe’s chief sponsors with reports saying he committed thousands of dollars towards the upcoming 21st February Movement bash.

REVEALED- Pope John Paul’s Secret Girlfriend

secret love affair...Pope John Paul
secret love affair…Pope John Paul

An investigation has revealed that the Roman Catholic church’s Pope John Paul II (the late) had a secret girlfriend.
Anna-Teresa Tymienicken, a Polish-born American philosopher, corresponded with the pope, went skiing and camping with him and visited him just before he died. She was the only person with exclusive access to him and with whom he would spend closed door intimate moments.
The BBC investigation reveals that in 1976, he wrote to her: “God gave you to me and made you my vocation.” Later he wrote: “You write about being torn apart. I could find no answer to these words. If I didn’t have this conviction, some moral certainty of grace and acting in obedience to it, I would not dare to act like this.”
The question is, is this revelation “news” or is it just further insight into one of history’s most consequential pope?
Vatican officials say it is neither. They say John Paul, now St. John Paul II, had all sorts of friends, male and female.
It is very clear that this friendship was a special intimate one as a group of love letters between the two are opened. The investigation notes that there is evidence that John Paul violated his oath of celibacy.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Finally Divorced

divorce through...Chris Oyakhilome
divorce through…Chris Oyakhilome

London-Christ Embassy founder Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is now officially divorced from his wife Anita.
Anita, obtained her “decree-absolute” certificate early this month.
Her lawyers Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, confirmed Anita Ebhodaghe (formerly Anita Oyakhilome) is now officially a single woman.
“We have been requested by Anita Oyakhilome to confirm that on the 8th February 2016 a decree absolute was pronounced in the High Court of Justice Principal Registry of the Family Division dissolving her marriage to Christian Onehirokpeana Oyakhilome,” the statement read.
It continued, “Anita Oyakhilome would like to confirm that she is no longer involved in or part of Christ Embassy AKA Believers LoveWorld INC.”
The controversial Oyakhilome who is based in South Africa is attacked for stealing the writings of the famous Christian author, EW Kenyon and making both fame and money for himself with them.
News that Anita had filed for a divorce broke in 2014, after months of rumours suggesting that all was not well with the marriage.
Hopes by church members that the marriage would be mended were dashed in the following months as both Anita’s and Oyakhilome’s lawyers issued statements that suggested the damage to the relationship was irreparable.
Shortly after the news broke, images of Anita, which were very prominent on the church’s website, were removed with her name and image also missing from the church’s devotional, Rhapsody of Realities, which she had co-authored for years with her estranged husband.
Oyakhilome, however, dismissed reports about the messy divorce including those suggesting that adultery was one of the grounds for the divorce, accusing the media of publishing a lot of “stupid things”.

Tomana Has Case to Answer- State

Powers to prosecute are not vested in an individual, but in the National Prosecuting Authority, contrary to claims by arrested Prosecutor General Johannes Tomana, in a case in which he is challenging his placement on remand, the State has said.
Tomana is arguing that his arrest for allegedly releasing suspects who wanted to petrol bomb the First Family’s Alpha Omega Dairy was unconstitutional.
Tomana said prosecutions were conducted under his authority and in this case he had not instituted the criminal process.
But prosecutors Mr Gwinyai Shumba and Mr Timothy Makoni said the new Constitution vested prosecutorial powers in the NPA, a change from provisions of the old Constitution.
They said the Prosecutor General was only a member of the National Prosecuting Authority. Tomana, through his lawyer Advocate Thabani Mpofu instructed by Mr Tazorora Musarurwa and Mr Alex Mambosasa, also argued that Mr Shumba and Mr Makoni had no right and powers to prosecute him since they were his juniors.
But the two said prosecutors do their work on behalf of the State not the Prosecutor General.
“The certificates given to individual prosecutors is merely evidence of title given by the PG to an individual prosecutor to prosecute on behalf of the State,” they said.
“In fact, the saving provisions of the NPA Act make it clear that all prosecutors who had the title to prosecute shall continue with the same title to prosecute in all matters.
“There is no requirement of law that in each emerging case, the PG grants authority to prosecute.”
Tomana said he was immune to prosecution, hence his arrest was a violation of constitutional provisions guaranteeing his independence and protection from intimidation in the exercise and discharge of his functions.
But the State said: “It is clear that the law only immunises the President during the pendency of his office and not after he has ceased holding office.
The immunity that the accused wants to legislate for himself in the constitution, if necessary must be by way of constitutional amendment and referendum. The independence which the PG enjoys does not entail acting arbitrarily and contrary to the dictates of the law.”
The State agreed with the defence that the police take directives from the PG, but they argued that section 219 of the Constitution, which provides for the police service and its functions did not exclude criminal abuse of duty by State functionaries from being detected.
The State further argued that most issues raised by Tomana in his application were liable to trial, adding that the application was not sound at all as the constitution placed everybody below the law.
The magistrate Mr Vakayi Chikwekwe ordered the State to recall the investigating officer Assistant Commissioner Thulani Ncube on the witness stand and clarify the validity of Tomana’s arrest.
Asst Comm Ncube said Tomana’s arrest was not illegal, adding that he was the one who instructed his subordinates to arrest him. Advocate Mpofu questioned who the complainant was in the matter.
“You made yourself the complainant, you caused his arrest and you took the decision to take him to court so that he be prosecuted. From what you have said, do you see that this is a police prosecution.”
After hearing submissions from both counsels, Mr Chikwekwe remanded the matter to Monday next week for ruling.
Tomana is facing criminal abuse of duty as a public officer, or alternatively defeating or obstructing the course of justice after he allegedly ordered the release of Silas Pfupa and Solomon Makumbe suspected of trying to petrol-bomb the First Family’s Alpha Omega Dairy farm in Mazowe.State Media

Mphoko In Trouble Over Karanga Jibe

By Terrence Mawawa |Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko a self confessed disciple of the First Lady Grace Mugabe is under fire for his sensational claims that the Karangas will never take over the presidency of the country.

The bootlicking Mphoko went out of the way when he claimed the Karangas will never rule the country, drawing the ire of politicians across the political divide in Masvingo. Mphoko who has aligned himself with the G40 camp stunned all and sundry when he claimed Karangas would never rule the Zimbabwe. Senior Zanu PF officials known to be sympathetic to Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa said Mphoko was a man of stature but he had little brains. They said Mphoko’s utterances were calculated to belittle Karanga politicians -particularly Mnangagwa.
“Mphoko’s comments are unfortunate, reckless and uncouth. He made a clear insult to us. Mphoko must quickly retract his utterances before the 21st February Movement celebrations -otherwise we will stage a demonstration against him and his supporters,”  said a Member of Parliament who chose not to be named. In a rare alliance, albeit of perceptions, former Zanu PF politburo member Dzikamai Mavhaire said, “Mphoko’s views are full of hatred .All people have the right to choose their own leaders despite tribal backgrounds. We do not tolerate such kind of talk”.
Former MDC MP and current PDP deputy national secretary general Tongai Matutu said Mphoko did not deserve to lead the national healing committee . “We have been segregated by Mphoko’s comments. He must apologise for his utterances,”said Matutu. Political analysts here said Mphoko insulted the entire Karanga tribe through reckless comments meant to please his boss Grace Mugabe in the G40 formation.
Mphoko has torched yet another fire in the already raging storm in the ruling party and the Vice President’s sentiments have ignited further tension in the troubled party. Mphoko’s sentiments have triggered anger even outside the ruling party.

Tomana CIO Boob Revealed in Court

Prosecutor General Johannes Tomana is part of a (CIO) Central Intelligence Organisation boob that eventually led to his arrest, emerged on Thursday as the court heard.
The magistrate hearing his case’s submissions was on Thursday told the two accused people in the Gushungo Dairy farm bombing whose charges Tomana withdrew are in fact members of the CIO wing in the military.
Representing Tomana, the lawyer Thabani Mpofu revealed to the court the two accused persons whose charges were withdrawn were members of the military intelligence who had been deployed to foil the bombing plot.
The court was told that the Prosecutor General withdrew the charges to make them witnesses.
Harare provincial magistrate Vakai Chikwekwe ordered the state to call the investigating officer Assistant Commissioner Thulani Ncube to explain the validity of the arrest of Mr Tomana.
This was after the defence argued the state did not place before the court sound evidence that can warranty the dismissal of application challenging prosecution of the Prosecutor General.
Cross examining the investigating officer, Advocate Mpofu said the constitution of Zimbabwe clearly outlines that the Prosecutor General is the one who has the mandate to review work by the Commissioner General of police not the other way round.
Advocate Mpofu queried the authority of prosecution as the area prosecutor Jonathan Murombedzi is alleged to have recused himself from prosecuting Mr Tomana.
The advocate indicated the arrest and prosecution of his client was driven by the police and not the laws of the land.

CIO Implicated In Harare South Land Corruption

Victims of the Airport road housing demolitions who were dumped at Stoneridge Farm in Harare South are claiming that members of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and known members of some housing cooperatives are corruptly parceling out stands at the Farm.
The desperate residents were early this year left homeless after government demolished their houses.
The directive to raze down the settlement was given by President Robert Mugabe in November last year after the veteran leader had argued that the settlement was an “eyesore” that tarnishes the image of the country.
Residents who spoke to ZimEye.com Thursday said they were being threatened with evictions by members of the CIO and housing cooperatives leaders who are demanding cash for settling at the Farm.
“The same people and cooperatives which are supposed to be controlling the process are together with some CIOs , busy looting the stands giving them their relatives,” said the residents.
They said that the corrupt officials were subdividing some of the stands so that they get more money from desperate home seekers.
“What is really disheartening is that they are even re-pegging the stands, allocating people some small portions which can only accommodate   a small two roomed or one room cottage and we wonder if this is what should be happening or is the beginning of yet another problem,” they said.
“We are appealing to the government for a stakeholders meeting so that they explain to us if what is happening is legal. It is also our wish that the government sets up a commission of inquiry and investigate this corruption”.

Chimene Death Threats

death threats…Mandi Chimene

War vets leader Mandi Chimene says she has received death threats from unnamed elements.
Chimene, who siezed the association from deposed former leader Christopher Mutsvangwa, says she has since “opened a police case on the matter.”
She lashed out to journalists today, “we want you to know we have received threats, they said I am talkative so I must be silenced and I know that the only way to silence a person is to kill him.”
She continued, “Ndinonzi Chimene ini ndiri mwana wekwaMakoni, ini ndiri mwana wekwaChingaira (I am the daughter of Makoni, the descendant of Chingaira), maybe people want to know why I am so fearless. I was born in a family of cadres, it’s in the blood. I am the daughter of Chingaira whose head was decapitated by the Rhodesians.
“I don’t fear anyone…My grandfather was killed by the whites and his head was taken. He was silenced and there is nothing to fear, kufa kufa (I don’t fear death) and threats will never deter us from serving the interests of war veterans,” she said.

BREAKING NEWS- Police Impound Another Bus Ferrying War Vets

Police in Masvingo impounded a bus ferrying war veterans to Harare Thursday morning at Croco Motors in the city of Masvingo as Zanu PF factional battles continue to escalate.

The Harare- bound bus belonging to Beckham Transport was intercepted at Croco Motors while picking up war veterans destined for the capital city where they intended to demonstrate against First Lady Grace Mugabe and her G40 team.
First Lady Grace Mugabe was in December blocked from visiting the Province.
Mrs Mugabe torched a storm when she launched a scathing attack on war veterans in a bid to silence the former freedom fighters said to be backing Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mrs Mugabe also attacked the Vice President threatening to undress him.   Sources told ZimEye.com plain clothes-police officers pounced on the bus crew and ordered the war veterans to disembark before taking it to Masvingo Central Police Station. The bus was still parked at Masvingo police station and CIO operatives working with members of the Police Internal Security Intelligence (PISI) were at the time of writing carrying out investigations on the matter

Although Masvingo Police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula was not readily available for a comment, police details manning the premises warned ZimEye against reporting on the matter.

“My brother you better not ask about the bus because the matter is too sensitive and I advise you to distance yourself from the issue. The bus was impounded at Croco Motors while ferrying war veterans to Harare so it is an explosive matter. The bosses are investigating it so please do not invite trouble,” said a police constable at the police station.

A member of the bus crew declined to comment fearing political implications and it is understood the bus owners are battling to secure the vehicle’s release.
Intelligence sources disclosed there are spirited efforts to flush out party bigwigs behind the issue. READ MORE on this developing story…..

BLOOD AND FIRE: Grace Mugabe, War Vets War Breaks Out

War veterans clashed with the police in the capital city on Thursday morning in what has now been termed “Blood and Fire” between the First Lady Grace Mugabe and the liberation war heroes. ‘Comrades‘ loyal to ousted leader Christopher Mutsvangwa and Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa have declared their readiness to “go back to the bush” to defend the country against First Lady Grace Mugabe and her G40 ZANU PF faction.
PICTURES:

The crowds managed to make their way to the capital city overnight to stage a demonstration against the First Lady and declare their intention to “go back to the bush” if she is not brought to order. Another faction loyal to the First Lady also mobilised its own forces which include some members of the youth league from the ruling party’s notorious national youth training centres known as green bombers.
There were reports that Chris Mutsvangwa himself was arrested early Thursday. But at the time of writing ZimEye.com could not obtain any evidence to that effect and the man’s cellphone line was continuously engaged. He later replied ZimEye in a short message simply saying: “all fine,” and would go not into any further detail.
Hundreds stranded in Matebeleland.
Meanwhile scores of hundreds other penny less war vets were stranded in Matabeleland last night.
Impeccable sources within the party claim that police and the army have been ordered to refuse to intervene in the expected clashes, certain to turn bloody if not contained.
In her recent rallies throughout the country the presidential hopeful First Lady has taken swipe at the once feared war veterans describing them as a group of old people holding the country at ransom. In her latest jibe at the veterans at her rally in Mazowe last week, Grace Mugabe said the fighters should begin considering themselves as ordinary citizens as their liberation war tag has gone past it’s sale by date a statement which has infuriated the aged liberation fighters.
Across the country, in the country’s second capital scores of other war veterans spent the night stranded at the city centre waiting for transport to ferry them to Harare to join in the demonstration.
Sources within the veterans claim that members of the Central Intelligence Organisation disturbed their transport arrangements to block them from traveling to Harare.
According to the sources an unnamed someone was meant to have met with the veterans in the City Centre and provided them with cash for overnight transport to Harare but that somebody was blocked by intelligence officers before getting to them.
The liberation fighters tried to force themselves into buses traveling to Harare without money claiming that the drivers were going to get their money when they got to Harare but the transport operators would not have any of that.
Early this morning, the “soldiers” most of them having been ferried all the way from Beitbridge, Tsholotsho and Victoria Falls were stranded in Bulawayo with no money to travel back to their homes.
None of their “leaders” were on site to assist them get transport back home nor to Harare.
“They picked us up from our homes as early as 6am yesterday and dumped us here in Bulawayo in hired kombis and now they are nowhere to be seen and we haven’t had a meal since we left home. Most of us are on different medication and can not stay this long without eating,” complained one veteran who earlier in the day was amongst those declaring their preparedness to go back to war.
Reports from the capital say that the situation remains calm as the sun rises though the veterans have already started gathering at the ZANU PF head quarter with a few police officers milling around the area.
ZimEye.com correspondents in the capital are keeping a close eye on the developments at Jongwe Jongwe House and will provide details as they unroll.

Mugabe Hit By Grot

hit by a grot?...Robert Mugabe
hit by a grot…Robert Mugabe

By Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| President Robert Mugabe has been hit by a grot due to his wife, Grace. Following yesterday’s Provincial Coordinating (PCC)meeting at Chief’s Hall, senior provincial members held a caucus meeting where they vowed to hit President Robert Mugabe with a denial of honour.
They said they will bunk his birthday bash if the suspension of Provincial chairman Ezra Chadzamira is not reversed.
Intimate party sources told ZimEye.com a caucus meeting was held at a local hotel yesterday where senior Zanu PF members concurred to boycott Mugabe’s birthday party if the nonagenarian fails to act on his erratic wife.
Senior provincial party members including Gutu Central MP Lovemore Matuke, former Chivi Central MP Paul Mangwana and war veterans provincial chairman Tendeukai Chinooneka yesterday openly condemned Kasukuwere for violating the party constitution.
The widening cracks in Zanu PF are now threatening national security and stability, analysts have said.
A Zanu PF insider who attended the caucus meeting said: “We may end up staying away from the birthday bash if the Chadzamira issue is not resolved. We are prepared to face them(Grace and her G40 team). We will tell them in the face -who are they to suspend a provincial chairman in an unproceduaral manner? The very same people are igniting regionalism. How can a high prolife person appear on national television uttering hogwash?”.
It appears an imminent split is looming in Zanu PF with Mugabe deeply reluctant to close in on his wife who appeared on national television attacking Vice President Mnangagwa.
Yesterday Mangwana said he was not afraid to be fired for saying out the truth.

Thokozani Khupe Tried, Tested Still Fighting

khupe
‘The people at lower structures are focused, determined and resilient towards achieving change, there is still a big element of service and sacrifice; l witnessed that in Bikita, Gutu, Ngundu, Mashava, Chiredzi and in Chinhoyi yesterday,’ – Khupe.
gracekwinjeh900Today Women of Steel (WOS) talks to Honourable Thokozani Khupe, the Vice President of the Movement for Democratic Change and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. We cover a wide range of issues; the reported in-fighting within the MDC-T, her position on the possibility of the MDC-T forming a coalition with other parties to challenge Zanu PF in the 2018 elections, and the struggle female politicians face to survive among others.

Khupe is most probably one of the longest serving female leaders who founded the original MDC led by Gibson Sibanda at the time, in 1999. She has over the years survived the tumultuous seasons the party has endured, including fighting for her own personal survival, especially in the Matebeleland region from where she hails. The party has survived two major splits which left it weakened and struggling for survival, however, Khupe is one of the leaders who have at each point remained to fight on. Apart from the taxing and exhausting political life, being a single parent, Khupe has also over the years improved herself academically and is soon to be recognised as Dr Khupe after submitting her PHD Thesis with the University of Zimbabwe, titled ‘The informal sector and empowerment of women: a case study of women informal retail traders in flea markets in Bulawayo.’
She shares her story:

WOS – Who is Thoko Khupe?
Khupe – Thoko Khupe is the fourth daughter of Fanelo Max Khupe and Cathrine Nleya. I was born in Bulawayo where I also went to school. I did my primary education at Mpumelelo Primary School and proceeding to St Bernards Secondary School. I am a mother of three, twin boys and a girl. I am a holder of a BA in Media Studies, an MBA and I have just submitted my PHD Thesis with University of Zimbabwe and my topic was ‘The informal sector and empowerment of women: a case study of women informal retail traders in flea markets in Bulawayo.

WOS – What motivated you to get into politics?
Khupe – The desire to change the direction of the country. The problems around the economy and historical issues to do with Gukurahundi, including the marginalisation of my home region Matebeleland as well as the increased centralisation of power by Zanu PF. All this and other factors led me to join my colleagues in the trade union movement in attempts to chart a new trajectory for Zimbabwe.

WOS – Tell us more about your political journey over the years, from the trade union movement to date.
Khupe- I have served as the Secretary of the ZCTU Women’s Advisory Council and also as a General Council member of ZCTU. I was later elected as a National Executive member of the MDC at its formation in 1999 and appointed Secretary for Transport, Logistics and Welfare at its 2000 congress. After the split in 2005 I was elected Vice President to our leader Morgan Tsvangirai a position I hold to date. In 2009 I was appointed Deputy Prime Minister at the formation of inclusive government.

At a global level in 2010 I was elected President of Global Power Women Network and in the same year was appointed Goodwill Ambassador of CARMMA, a campaign for the reduction of maternal mortality rates something that is very close to my heart.
I have also received the African Achievers Award in 2012.
After being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2011, I set up the Thokozani Khupe Cancer Foundation which has sought to raise awareness and encourage early detection and treatment of the disease. I have since dedicated the bulk of my activism to issues of broader health rights for women and everyone in general, in recognition of that  I received the National Health Rights Activist of the year in 2015.

WOS – What have been your main challenges?
Khupe- Being a woman is a challenge because there are men who still think women cannot lead, yet women are leaders in their own right. Besides their dual work and gender roles at home some have become inspirational and empathetic leaders, at various levels of society.

WOS – Politics they say is a dirty game and men especially will not let women participate freely, how have you survived so long? Most of the female MDC -T founding members have since left the party you are the most senior left if we are not mistaken.
Khupe- I have survived in the trenches with many others because I do not tire easily, I focus on the broader objective and I have belief and conviction on what must be achieved. Some of our colleagues have lost that along the way, but I take seriously the dictates of collective responsibility. It is not and was never going to be easy to dislodge an entrenched dictatorship like the Mugabe one. ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW…
gracekwinjeh900
WOS- Do you have any ambitions to lead the MDC one day? Being so senior?
Khupe- I am the Vice President of my party and I so much enjoy working at that level, and assisting my President Tsvangirai in executing his duties.

WOS- The MDC is reported to be facing leadership struggles that might lead to another split. Is there an internal strategy to avoid this?
Khupe- Differences in a huge party like ours will always be found. But leaders always debate exhaustively to find a collective binding common ground. We have just been in Masvingo where we had robust conversations on sidelines of our five district cluster meetings where the President and his lieutenants were assessing the health of the party. The people at lower structures are focused, determined and resilient towards achieving change. there is still a big element of service and sacrifice. l witnessed that in Bikita, Gutu, Ngundu,Mashava, Chiredzi n in Chinhoyi yesterday. The leaders thus take a cue from the people. The people are united and so leaders will also strive to be united for the sake of the people who voted for them.

WOS – How does the VP view other political players such as Joice Mujuru and People First; Is she open to the much debated idea of a broad grand coalition?
Khupe- My views on a broad coalition are guided by the party collective. The MDC-T has a big tent philosophy in that regard stands ready to work with other progressive players in finding a solution to our national crisis. That is why we are part of the NERA process which aims to pile pressure on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and the regime for electoral reforms.
A coalition cannot be an elite pact but must be a convergence of ideas and ideologies to extricate the country from the clutches of ZANU’s misrule. So anyone who realises that and breaks away from the Zanu PF ideas is welcome in the broader democratic movement.

WOS – What is the strategy of securing the vote in 2018 give the experience of the previous stolen ones?
Khupe- We hope reforms we are fighting for through NERA and other fronts will result in a level playing field which will come through such systems as biometric voting, security sector reform and alignment of our electoral laws with the current Constitution, to vaccinate against the possibility rigging. We however will keep the pressure and our eyes open to defend the peoples vote.

WOS – What is your advice to fellow women who want to enter politics?
Khupe- Politics is a hard hat area, you need patience, perseverance and some drive. It needs someone who listens but who is aggressive and assertive at the same time.

WOS – Thank you Hon. Khupe and may God bless your journey.

Grandpa Rapes Minor At Knife Point

By Terrence Mawawa |Masvingo| A 63 year old man raped a 13 year old girl at knife point and infected her with a Sexually Transmitted Infection(STI) in the process.
Samuel Gozhori Ushe of Ushe Village in Bikita appeared before Masvingo Regional Magistrate Collet Ncube facing trial for three counts of rape. It is understood some time in February last year Ushe sneaked into the minor’s bedroom at around 8pm wielding a knife. While pointing the knife at the minor Ushe threatened to cut her head off if she resisted. He the forcibly removed her clothes and had sexual intercourse with the minor once.
Ushe came to the complainant’s house on again on different dates and raped her after threatening to cut off her head. The matter came to light when the girl fell sick and as she sought medical attention it was discovered clear signs of an STI were noticeable. The matter was reported to the police leading to Ushe’s arrest. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
The motive behind the crime could not be established. Following the latest ruling on child marriages and abuse of minors, cases of such magnitude are likely to top the list in the country’s courts and human rights and children’s right groups have strongly condemned paedophilic tendencies.
Women and Children’s rights groups are calling for stiffer penalties against perpetrators of such crimes. Local villagers expressed shock at Ushe’s behaviour.

Horror as Woman Chops Baby’s Head Off

A woman allegedly chopped off her one-year-old daughter’s head with an axe before chopsattempting to commit suicide by stabbing herself with a knife. Keresia Hlabangana, 32, of Sivukwe area in Lupane district, allegedly breastfed her baby before decapitating her on Saturday.
She is under heavy police guard at St Luke’s Hospital in Lupane where she is admitted in the intensive care unit. The motive for the murder is yet to be established.
Hlabangana’s family told The Chronicle that she was acting strangely last Friday when she arrived home from her brother’s burial in Pupu, her home village also in Lupane.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Cornelius Phakathi said Hlabangana locked herself in a hut before axing the baby and stabbing herself.
“It happened around 6PM on Saturday when her husband left her home with their four children. We came back from her brother’s burial on Thursday and she arrived on Friday but her behaviour was weird. We assumed she had been affected by her brother’s death,” said Phakathi.
He went on: “On that day her eldest daughter came running saying her mother was bleeding. We asked her husband, Mlauzi, to rush home and check. That’s when he came face to face with a shocking sight of a lifeless body of the child while the mother was also lying unconscious after stabbing herself in the abdomen near the navel.”
Phakathi said Hlabangana was still holding the okapi knife in her hand while an axe was beside the baby’s body.
He said she axed her from the back of the neck and only a thin layer of skin was left joining the head to the body.
“She breastfed the baby first before locking herself in the bedroom hut after sending all the other children outside saying she wanted to bath. The children returned moments later to find the grisly scene.”
Phakathi said the family was shocked by “untruths” being circulated on social media that his nephew and wife fought resulting in her committing the crime.
Hlabangana’s uncle, Robert Hlabangana, said his niece could have been affected by her elder brother’s death.
“She doesn’t have a history of mental illness and we wonder what could have happened to her,” he said.
The tot was buried on Tuesday after a post-mortem was done at the United Bulawayo Hospitals. Hlabangana’s husband, Patrick Mlauzi, said: “My wife couldn’t say a word and up to today I don’t know what came over her to do that.
“When I got to the hospital, she asked me about the whereabouts of the baby and I lied that she was at home.
“She appeared to have lost her mind as she asked me how she had ended up in hospital and if I had brought her some clothes.”
Mlauzi and Hlabangana married in 2002 and have four children – the eldest being 13-years-old.
Mlauzi said he was concerned about “false” claims circulating on social media that he and his wife were having marital problems and that the family had been visited by tsikamutandas which might have caused her to kill her baby.
He said his wife was once bedridden for six months last year with a heart ailment which could have affected her mentally.

Murderer Strips Naked In Court

naked strip...Murder Convict
naked strip…Murder Convict

A CONVICTED murderer yesterday caused a stir at the Bulawayo High Court when he stripped naked and turned violent as he attempted to jump out of the dock moments before he was sentenced to life in jail.
Augustine Ncube, 28, one of the two murderers who killed a Mosi-oa-Tunya High School pupil who was picnicking with her boyfriend close to the Victoria Falls Rain Forest before throwing her body into a river, gave six prison officers a torrid time as they wrestled with him for about 10 minutes.
Both defence counsels huddled in a corner in the courtroom in anticipation of danger. The frightened prosecutor, Whisper Mabaudhi and a court orderly bolted out of the courtroom.
Justice Nicholas Mathonsi, who was in the process of delivering his judgment, had to adjourn the proceedings for about 15 minutes.
Police officers manning the High Court building rushed to assist prison officers to subdue Ncube before he was taken to the holding cells. He was sentenced in absentia in terms of the Criminal Code.
Ncube of Pumula North and his accomplice, Nhlanganiso Luphahla, 34, of Old Pumula murdered Praise Mpofu, 16, and threw her body into the Zambezi River. Her boyfriend survived the attack. Ncube and Luphahla also robbed the two lovebirds of a laptop, MP3 player, earphones, a memory card and $11.
Praise, who was doing Form Four at the time of the attack, was in the company of her lover, Brian Dube, 21, who was an Upper Sixth pupil at the same school. Brian was heavily assaulted and left for dead. He sustained a neck fracture and was taken to hospital where he was admitted for five days.
Luphahla and Ncube were each sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and 10 years for robbery.
Luphahla, who was represented by Nontokozo Tachiona, accused Ncube of being the murderer and admitted that he stole the pair’s money and laptop which he later sold.
Ncube through his lawyer, Russell Dzete, claimed that he acted under duress as Luphahla threatened to kill him if he defied his orders.
In his judgment, Justice Mathonsi described the two men as bloodthirsty, senseless and cruel, rogue elements who deserved to be permanently removed from society.
“Luphahla and Ncube gave their defence in a mutually destructive manner and engaging so much in character assassination of each other such that nothing meaningful could be picked from their testimonies. Clearly one can’t escape from such a heinous crime by creating a fictitious story and we’re satisfied that the two acted in common purpose,” he said.
Justice Mathonsi said children have a right to grow up in a free and happy environment.
“This country can’t continue to lose human capital at the hands of senseless and useless people like you. Children deserve their freedom and happiness,” he said.
In passing sentence, Justice Mathonsi said the court had a duty to uphold the sanctity of human life.
“You killed a defenceless young girl and threw her body in the crocodile-infested Zambezi River. It’s the duty of the courts to uphold the sanctity of human life by permanently removing such people from society,” he ruled.
Prosecuting, Mabaudhi, told the court that on July 15, 2015 at Zambezi River, Luphahla and Ncube approached Brian and Praise.
“Ncube allegedly picked a log and struck Brian at the back of his head and force-marched the two lovers into a secluded area along the river. The duo allegedly forced the lovers to undress and assaulted them with a log, leading to Brian losing consciousness,” said Mabaudhi.
Ncube then remained guarding Brian while Luphahla took Praise to a nearby bush and tried to rape her before hitting her again with the same log on the head until she died.
The court heard that Luphahla later dumped the body into the Zambezi River. He then tied Brian’s hands with a laptop cable before stealing money, a laptop, a cellphone and an MP3 player.-State Media

Mnangagwa Speaks Out On Mahoka

Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday said Zanu-PF Women’s League secretary for finance Cde Sarah Mahoka must explain herself following utterances she made at a recent rally at the party’s headquarters.
At the rally to celebrate President Mugabe’s successful tenure as the African Union chairperson, Cde Mahoka challenged the Head of State and Government to announce if he had authorised his spokesperson Mr George Charamba to give an interview to ZiFM radio.
Turning to Cde Mnanagwa, Cde Mahoka challenged the VP to state his position insofar as the Zanu-PF succession matrix was concerned.
She went further likening VP Mnangagwa to a duck, saying he was letting people abuse his name on succession issues while he kept quiet. Asked on his response on the challenge by Cde Mahoka yesterday, VP Mnangagwa said: “I think the best person to answer is Mahoka. She said what she said, I ignored that. If you need more information, talk to Mahoka,” he said.
Cde Mahoka’s untoward behaviour drew brickbats from the Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators’ Association (Ziliwaco) secretary-general Cde Jabulani Mbetu, who said if left unchecked, her actions would set a bad precedent.
“Unless she was a storm trooper, she should be dragged before a disciplinary hearing and answer for herself what she wanted to prove,” he said. “It should not appear as if there is no more discipline in the party. The question is where did she drive that power from?”
Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association secretary-general Cde Victor Matemadanda said Cde Mahoka had clearly insulted and disrespected the party’s senior leadership.
“The party used to give political orientation and discipline tutorials to its cadres and that is how the liberation war was won,” he said.
“This has vanished and what we saw on Wednesday (last week) was a first of its kind. We do not know if that is the direction the party has taken, but surely to avoid a repeat of this, the party leadership should take action on the matter.”
Before speaking on Cde Mahoka’s behaviour, VP Mnangagwa had delivered a lecture to students attending the Joint Command and Staff Course No. 29 at the Staff College in Harare on Zimbabwe’s Constitution.
VP Mnangagwa started his presentation with a long quotation by one of the doyens of constitutionalism in the world and Chinese national Mr Xiao Yang which he delivered during a lecture in Singapore in 2003.
Mr Xiao is the Chief Justice and president of the Supreme Court of China.
Mr Xiao’s quotation reads: “The propensity of a nation, the integrity of its politics, the stability of its society, the development of its economy, the solidarity of its ethnic groups, the flourishing of its culture, and contentment and well-being of its people, all hinge upon the maintenance of law and order and the soundness of the legal system . . . the legal protection afforded by the constitution is fundamental to the economic development of a country.”
Reflecting on the security agenda in modern times, VP Mnangagwa said: “As the security services, you constitute an important component in our democratic establishment given your crucial and indispensable mandate of safeguarding the national security and interests of the State.
“With this in mind, I hope that you will acquit yourselves well in safeguarding the territorial integrity of Zimbabwe and the other Sadc member states, bearing in mind that we share similar security interests.”
VP Mnangagwa said it was important to safeguard the country’s constitutionally enshrined interests from threats of externally manufactured regime change agenda which violated the tenets of constitutional and international law.
Turning to the ongoing alignment of laws with the new Constitution, VP Mnangagwa said Government had made major strides in that regard.
He said a number of Bills would be tabled before Parliament before the end of the current session.
VP Mnangagwa said some of the Bills such as the Electoral Amendment Bill, the National Prosecuting Authority Bill and the Public Debt Management Bill were already passed into law.
“I can confirm that the alignment process is progressing well,” he said. “Our statistics indicate that 206 out of the 396 statutes in Zimbabwe require alignment to the Constitution.
“If we bear in mind the fact that a review of certain laws will lead to amendments of other laws, you will learn that a number of 154 Acts have been reviewed to date.”
VP Mnangagwa said Government was committed to the alignment of laws despite the meagre resources at its disposal.

Zimbabwe Buys Maize From Ukraine As Drought Hits Country

In preparation for the looming drought that might see the whole country face starvation, the government has secured 150 000 tonnes of maize from Zambia and 500 000 tonnes from Ukraine.
Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is chairperson of the Food Security and Nutrition Committee says the government is on top of the things as the hunger and drought situation experienced in Zimbabwe is under control.
Vice President Mnangagwa has revealed the government has secured funding from the Exim Bank of China and has procured more than 650 000 tonnes of maize. He added logistics are underway to transport the maize.
“We are aware of the drought situation and government has moved in to purchase maize from friendly countries. We have secured 150 000 metric tonnes of maize from Zambia and 500 000 tonnes from Ukraine,” said Mnangagwa.
There has been speculation that Zimbabwe might be affected by Zambia’s decision to ban the exportation of maize but Mnangagwa says everything is in place.
The food security and nutrition committee has worked out the quantity the country might need this season to about 1.4 million tonnes for the government to feed the over three million people who need food aid. -State Media

Mnangagwa son In Car Accident

Zimbabwean Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son, Samora, is reportedly in a critical condition in hospital following a head-on collision that occurred east of the country’s capital Harare.
According to NewsDay, Samora’s Ford Fiesta collided head-on with a bread-delivery truck in Marondera on Tuesday.
There were three occupants in the Ford Fiesta that Samora was driving, and all occupants in both cars were rushed to a nearby hospital after sustaining severe injuries.
The bakery truck overturned twice before landing on its roof, while the Ford Fiesta swerved to the other end of the road, the report said.
Police, however, refused to comment, claiming they were not aware of the accident.
Mnangagwa is reportedly locked in a bitter succession struggle within the ruling Zanu-PF, as a group of young turks known as the Generation 40 (G40) is trying to block his eventual ascendance to the highest office of the southern African country.
The G40 faction is reportedly fronted by first lady Grace Mugabe who according to reports recently accused top Zanu-PF officials for trying to kill her youngest child.News24/Newsday

Donald Trump Won’t Be President of US – Barack Obama

President Barack Obama said Donald Trump won’t be elected president and the Republican primary campaign has alarmed foreign audiences who expect the U.S. to lead the world.

“I continue to believe Mr. Trump will not be president,” Obama said Tuesday at a news conference after meeting with Southeast Asian leaders in Rancho Mirage, California. “And the reason is, I continue to have faith in the American people. And I think they realize that being president of the United States is a serious job. It’s not hosting a talk show.”
While Obama again criticized the tone and substance of the Republican primary campaign, he described the Democratic contest as a “healthy debate.” He didn’t say whether he would endorse his former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, or her challenger, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, but allowed that he and Clinton may more often agree on policy.
“I know Hillary better than I know Bernie, because she’s served in my administration, and she was an outstanding secretary of state,” Obama said. “And I suspect that, on certain issues, she agrees with me more than Bernie does.”
Sanders rode support from young and first-time voters to a decisive victory in New Hampshire and a close second place in Iowa, the primary’s first two nominating contests. Clinton remains the front-runner in national polls, and she is seeking to rebound in the next two nominating contests — the Nevada caucuses on Saturday and the South Carolina primary a week later.
“Ultimately I will probably have an opinion” on the contest, Obama said. “But for now I think it’s important for Democratic voters to express themselves and for candidates to be run through the paces.”
If Sanders, who caucuses with Senate Democrats but identifies himself as a democratic socialist, prevails in Nevada, Obama will face new pressure from party leaders to intervene in the nominating contest ahead of South Carolina.
Black voters, who propelled Obama to a victory in South Carolina over Clinton in 2008, remain loyal to the president and represented more than half the Democratic electorate that year. Clinton currently holds a 21-point lead in the state, according to a survey from Democratic pollster Public Policy Polling released Monday.
Obama has previously made comments interpreted as hints that he would prefer Clinton as the Democratic nominee. In an interview with Politico, Obama called Clinton “wicked smart” while characterizing Sanders as a “bright, shiny object” that appealed to frustrated liberals.
Former White House press secretary Jay Carney said Feb. 11 on CNN that Obama wants Clinton to win.
Obama has repeatedly shown frustration with the tone and tenor of the Republican nominating contest, which has seen conservative firebrand Senator Ted Cruz prevail in Iowa and Trump take New Hampshire.
“Foreign observers are troubled by some of the rhetoric that has taken place in some of these Republican primaries and Republican debates,” Obama said on Tuesday, after the meeting with leaders of 10 Southeast Asian nations.
The troubling language isn’t limited to Trump, he said: “He says in more interesting ways what the other candidates are saying as well.”
During a speech last week at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield, where he announced he would run for president in 2007, Obama said political leaders should seek compromise rather than sow anxiety and anger. Obama decried the “smallness of our politics” and warned that when leaders resort to offensive and outrageous attacks, they risked influencing the behaviour of children who look up to them.
A week earlier, Obama visited a mosque on U.S. soil for the first time in his presidency to caution against intolerance toward Muslims. The president’s remarks were a rebuke of Trump, who has called for a temporary ban on all Muslim immigration in the aftermath of Islamic State-inspired terrorist attacks last year in Paris and California.
“Other countries, they kind of count on the United States being on the side of science and reason and common sense,” Obama said. “They know if the U.S. doesn’t act on big problems in smart ways, nobody will.”
Trump remains the front-runner in South Carolina, where Republican voters head to the polls on Saturday.

Team Lacoste Threatens To Beat Up Grace Mugabe

As the Zanu PF succession fight deepens, a Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa affiliated youth grouping says they are going to disrupt Grace Mugabe’s national rallies and humiliate her.
Like what she did in 2014 ahead of her Zanu PF party’s December congress when she denounced the former Vice President Joice Mujuru, Grace is this time targeting vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa and former liberation war fighters who assisted her to boot out  Mujuru.
Addressing Journalists in Harare Tuesday the youth grouping which is using the name “The save Zanu PF campaign affiliates and participants” said should Grace continue attacking Mnangagwa they are going to invade her rallies and humiliate her.
As she was called “a little girl,” Grace was told “do not force us to confront you as a politician that you have become and as Secretary for Women’ Affairs for it is the position that is giving you the right to address party gatherings and not because you are the President’s wife,” Vengesai Musengi the organisation’s national organiser said.
“This is not a threat but a promise and you know we can do that and we expect a change at your next rally”.
At her rally in Chiweshe last week Grace said that she was ruling the country.
“Can you be reminded that you are not the party or the state authority as you claimed at your meeting in Chiweshe,” said the angry youths.
“A doctor’s wife can not undertake operations, so is the kombi driver’s wife who cannot use her husband’s driver’s licence to drive on our roads”.

Sex With Donkey:Man Says It Cures HIV AIDS

By Terrence Mawawa Masvingo|A prominent Zvishavane motor vehicle mechanic who was caught having sex with a donkey claims the act was a remedy for a ‘deadly’ Sexually Transmitted Infection(STI).
Police records seen by ZimEye.com show Denis Muteyo (44) is on line to appear in court facing bestiality charges.
According to the police report, Muteyo was driving his motor vehicle past Tawona Bottle Store in Zvishavane on January 29 when he spotted four donkeys grazing at night.
He parked his motor vehicle, disembarked and advanced towards one of the donkeys and had sex with it, the report narrates. Police say the donkeys had been left unattended by the owner as he walked away to drink beer.
“Muteyo was caught red handed sex with a donkey around 2300hours when the owner of the donkeys intercepted him. He even tried to bribe the owner,” read the police report.
Muteyo claimed the act was meant to cure a sexually transmitted ailment(HIV) he was suffering from. He further claimed a traditional healer had advised him to have sexual intercourse with the donkey so that he would be immediately cured.
The case has left the local community stunned since Muteyo is a prominent mechanic in the area. Such cases have been on the increase with people getting involved in bizarre rituals.
Meanwhile ZimEye.com can reveal Muteyo has asked for extra time to recover from sickness.

Drama As Stripper Goes Nude

A stripper from Harare shocked revellers at one of the Bulawayo night clubs when she allegedly stripped naked and went straight for one of the male reveller’s private parts.
The woman was quickly whisked away by the police and locked up only to be released after paying a $20 fine the following morning.
According to the Zimbabwe Censorship Board, the rules and regulations governing strip tease are that performers are not allowed to strip beyond the G-string level and physical contact with patrons is prohibited.
Sandra Munetei (22) of Malbereign in Harare learnt the hard way that violating the working conditions of her stripping licence had repercussions when she was arrested after pleasuring a male patron.
A source that was present at the night spot told B-Metro that the stripper almost caused a stampede with men jostling to get their turn with the organ sucking stripper.
“She took everyone by surprise when she completely stripped naked in the closing stages of her performances and as if that was not enough she proceeded to suck the organ of one male patron. This excited other men who started pushing and shoving to get their turn,” said the source.
Moments later the stripper found herself in handcuffs.
When contacted for comment, the stripper claimed she had been forced into going nude and sucking the patron’s organ by the night club DJ who threatened her with non payment if she did not comply with his ‘orders’.
“The DJ told me that the revellers were not happy with my performance so I would not get paid if I did not do something extra ordinary. I was desperate for the money and decided to strip naked. The law does not allow me to remove my panties but he (DJ) begged me to remove just once so as to entice the revellers,” said Munetei.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango confirmed the incident.
“I can confirm that a dancer at a nightclub in the city centre who was stripping was arrested under the Censorship Act.
“We are appealing to club owners not to allow dancers to strip, or to remove any of their clothing because it is an offence to remove a bra or pant. We will arrest club owners,” said Inspector Simango. – State Media

4 Killed as Shona-Ndebele War Hits Mine

Deadly tribal war hits illegal gold mine

At least four people are suspected to have died when Ndebele speaking illegal gold miners attacked Shona speaking fellow miners at disused Gealong Gold Mine in Gwanda.
Impeccable sources from the mine who would not be named exclusively revealed to ZimEye.com that the feud between Ndebele and Shona speaking miners has been on going for a while only awaiting a final boiling point.
The sources claim that the Ndebele speaking miners have for long not been happy with the presence of the Shona speakers who they want out of the rich mining area. The local Ndebele miners claim that the Shonas are taking their space and should leave Matabeleland and go and mine in Mashonaland.
The feud finally got to it’s boiling point at the beginning of this month after a group of Shona miners hit a rich gold belt from an area previously rejected by a group of Ndebele miners who had worked in the area for a long time and got very little gold from the area.
After more than two weeks of large returns by the Shonas, the Ndebeles got angry and demanded their counterparts to immediately leave the area, an order which was not accepted. The Ndebele miners left the area on Saturday evening giving the Shona miners 48 hours to leave the area. On their return on Tuesday morning they came back with a reinforced group of over twenty other miners triggering a huge fight between the two groups. Deadly objects like picks, shovels, knives and any other implements used for mining were turned into weapons resulting in a bloody exchange.
The Shonas were overcome by the large contingent as they fled leaving behind at least four of them dead according to sources.
Police in Gwanda expressed ignorance on the matter referring all questions to the police general headquarters in Harare. However a source at Gwanda Provincial Hospital confirmed that a number of badly injured informal miners was received at the hospital. The source could however only confirm one body as having been received from the mine without giving any further details.
At the time of going to press, sources around the mine area reported that there was heavy police presence in the area and at least six people have been seen handcuffed.
ZimEye.com is monitoring developments from the mine as more information is sourced.

Property earnings take a hit as economy crumbles

Property returns in Zimbabwe have plummeted to ‘alarming levels’ with rentals falling by as much as 50 percent and defaults above 40 percent in some cases, an industry official has said.
The Estates Agents Council chairman Oswald Nyakunika told The Source that returns on property investments have been hit by high default rates which are over 40 percent.
“I am advised rent reductions in Harare are much higher at about 50 percent in some cases. Landlords have conceded in order to keep properties occupied and avoid voids. A major driving factor has been tenants’ inability to pay current rent levels.
“The default rates are as high as 40 percent and increasing. The only way to stem the tide is to reduce rental levels. We are unlikely to see much change in 2016. It will go down as one of the most difficult years,” he added.
Nyakunika said the Zimbabwe has serious cash shortages.
“But I think our problem is little internal production and reduced exports in the face of increased imports. The balance of payments is heavily tilted against us. Agriculture, which is supposed to be our major economic mainstay, is performing poorly and the drought is not helping,” he said.
He said property remained the best investment sector compared to money and equity markets but there has been little development.
“Major developments have largely been residential schemes by banks and other financial institutions. Most housing development have been by individuals building own houses at their own pace in view of no mortgage funding. We need huge capital injection into the economy in general coupled with property development. There is need for investment into infrastructure development,” said Nyakunika.
“Property is the safest investment but as I said we need huge infrastructure development in servicing the land ready for building.”

Grace Mugabe Dead End as Masvingo Explodes

By Terrence Mawawa Masvingo| Masvingo Province which in December blocked First Lady Grace Mugabe, has exploded and the latest indications show that Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa weeks later, is still firmly in control of the province, a development which today saw Grace being shown the dead end.
Members of Mrs Mugabe’s Women’s League today tore into the president’s wife as controversial Masvingo provincial chairman Ezra Chadzamira on live television hit back at Zanu PF National Political Commisar Saviour Kasukuwere and Grace accusing them of being counter revolutionary elements, as ZimEye.com reveals.
Chadzamira was suspended by Kasukuwere as factional wars continue unabated in the trouble rocked ruling party.
The defiant Chadzamira and members of a faction belonging to Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa convened a meeting at the Chief’s Hall in Masvingo today where they resolved to meet President Robert Mugabe over his enstranged wife Grace who is in the centre of controversy.
During the meeting about 200 supporters attacked both Kasukuwere and Mrs Mugabe for trying to reverse the gains of the liberation war through harbouring sinister and ulterior motives.
“To us the suspension of Cde Chadzamira is a nonevent because there are individuals who are pursuing personal agendas at the expense of party values and ideologies. We are going to meet the president over the issue. We want him to control his enstranged wife who is causing untold chaos in the party. Look my friend people are fed up with the mud slinging. We are therefore going to fight to the bitter end. Kasukuwere is advancing clandestine movements but we will not rest ,”said at party official. Grace and her G40 team have failed to gain ground in Masvingo.Ironically Mugabe’s birthday bash will be held at the Great Zimbabwe monuments.
In the emotionally charged meeting, Zanu PF Members belonging to the Mnagagwa camp vowed to stop Mrs Mugabe and her G40 from destroying the party.
Despite close surveillance by CIO operatives, Chadzamira said enemies of the revolutionary ideology of the party would be put to shame.
Grace who will be in Masvingo in two weeks time for Mugabe’s birthday bash is likely to meet a hostile reception.

Tomana Sues Govt

The Prosecutor General, Mr Johannes Tomana has filed an application challenging his placement on remand, saying those prosecuting him have no authority to do so.
Tomana, who was back in court for his routine remand, argued through his legal representative that under the constitution of Zimbabwe, the Prosecutor General is the one who gives authority to prosecute.
The state is expected to file its response this Wednesday.
Tomana is facing charges of abuse of office after ordering the release of two people implicated in the attempted bombing of the Gushungo Dairy farm.
Meanwhile, Harare Provincial Magistrate, Vakai Chikwekwe has disregarded a high court order that barred the media from covering the story of the suspect accused of attempting to bomb Gushungo Dairy farm.
The order was granted by High Court judge, Justice Lavender Makoni after the military intelligence officer filed an application seeking the case to be held in camera.
The order was presented by Mr Taurai Mandiki, who is representing Solomon Makunde and Silas Pfupa.
In her ruling, Mr Chikwekwe said the lower court has constitutional rights to independence and any direction from other courts is tantamount to interference and usurping the powers of the magistrate’s court.
The case has been remanded to 1 March.-State Media

NEW TWIST-Mnangagwa Wants to Kill Me – Mahoka | FULL INTERVIEW

READERS’ NOTE – ZimEye.com on Tuesday evening interviewed ZANU PF Women’s League Finance boss, MP Sarah Mahoka, and she appeared factually disconnected from the claims that she is being threatened with death by “Mnangagwa’s assailants”. When raised on the issue of death threats coming from the Mnangagwa camp, she replied, “who said it was the Mnangagwa camp?” In a twist and turn spin when pressured on the claims now in full print, she was quick to cut the phone off saying: “I will call you later. At the time of writing (2)two hours later, she had not (yet) honoured her word”

death threat claim…Sarah-Mahoka

The above short interview was following a report by the Daily News that quotes Mahoka saying she was being threatened with death by Mnangagwa assailants. The article read:
The Zanu PF war to succeed President Robert Mugabe is getting nastier by the day, amid claims that a hit had been ordered against forthright women’s league secretary for finance, Sarah Mahoka — who recently skinned embattled Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Harare.
The straight-talking Mahoka confirmed the claims to the Daily News yesterday, adding that there were also growing reports of Mnangagwa’s followers giving women perceived to be aligned to the Generation 40 (G40) group a torrid time in the provinces.
“Yes, I heard that someone had been sent to kill me and I phoned him. His name is Maburutse, but the guy denied the allegations,” Mahoka said.
She said she had not been intimidated by the claims of the plot to kill her, adding that she is “ready to die for President (Robert) Mugabe and Amai Mugabe”.
“We don’t care even if they send people to kill us. I said it before that they must come out and declare their interests,” Mahoka fumed in a jibe that was widely believed to be directed at Mnangagwa.
“Some of us are prepared to die for President Mugabe and Amai Mugabe. If you go against President Mugabe hazviite zvakanaka, unenge wandibaya panyama nhete (if you fight Mugabe you are also fighting us),” she said.
“God is the one who gives life, so I don’t care if they even consult n’angas handitye munhu ini kunze kwaMwari. Munhu hapana zvaanondiita (I don’t fear anyone including those who consult witch doctors, I only fear God).
“This is a free Zimbabwe and we want to live peacefully. So, this issue of threatening each other must stop now,” she added.
Mahoka also alleged that the ongoing harassment of women in the provinces were a desperate bid by the beleaguered VP’s supporters to stop the women’s league from agitating for the elevation of a woman into the presidium.
The claim comes as the women’s league, supported by the G40, have stepped up their demands for the return of the women’s quota system in the party, which will see Mugabe appointing a woman as one of his two deputies — a move that is said to be targeted at demoting Mnangagwa.
Mahoka said there were growing reports of female district organisers being threatened with unspecified action for pushing for the resolution that was passed at Zanu PF’s conference last December.
“We are being told by some strong Ngwena (Mnangagwa) allies that we must stop our women’s quota system push. I tell you, the Ngwena faction is now out to threaten people but it’s now too late for them,” she said.
The intimidation reports also come after Zanu PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere suspended three provincial party chairpersons for alleged disobedience and insolence.
The three suspended bigwigs are Kizito Chivamba (Midlands), Ezra Chadzamira (Masvingo) and Joel Biggie Matiza (Mashonaland East) — all believed to be key allies of Mnangagwa.
“We have suspended Chivamba because he was no longer coming for meetings. Secondly, he blocked members of the women’s league from coming to Harare to welcome the president. He also went to the press making statements that undermine (the party) leadership.
“The same with Matiza in Mashonaland East … He was harassing women there and we have said to him enough. He came for the meeting, but made sure there was pressure on women not to attend that meeting.
“In Masvingo, Ezra Chadzamira had the same problems and we have told him to step aside. We can’t have insolence in the party; such arrogance and disrespect for leadership,” Kasukuwere was quoted saying last week.

Biti in Secret Masvingo Meeting

By Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo|People’s Democratic Party(PDP) leader Tendai Biti sneaked into the city of Masvingo last Saturday where he told party supporters he will never beg to join to former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s People First.
Biti told party members during a provincial executive meeting held at Target Kopje, Masvingo, he was not desperate to join Mujuru as suggested by some sections of the media.
Biti’s recent comments have once again put a dent on hopes of the much anticipated grand coalition many believe will unseat President Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF.
The former MDC secretary general described the People First as a group of people who are yet to reflect their seriousness to contest in the 2018 polls.
“The People First issue is about a group of people who are yet to make their intentions clear. What we want is to win the battle against Zanu PF and Mugabe. As for the People First let me clearly say we cannot engage individuals,”said Biti.
He also took a swipe at former party members who defected to People First saying they were desperate and confused.
“There are some of our former members who are trying to lure our supporters to People First and they are approaching our structures claiming we are now working with Mujuru -which is not true,” he said.
The people of Zimbabwe are clamouring for the formation of a grand coalition to take on Mugabe in the 2018 polls but the main players expected to spearhead the coaliton are seemingly unwilling to commit themselves towards a unified force.
Two weeks ago People First national spokesperson Rugare Gumbo fired a salvo at MDC president Morgan Tsvangirai saying he did not deserve to lead the coalition.

Demolitions Illegal, High Court Rules

The High Court has reprimanded the Harare City Council (HCC) for demolishing houses along the Airport Road without first securing a court order.
This followed an application filed by two residents; Jean Pierre Dusabe and John Peter Mutokambali, who were left homeless.
In the application, the residents cited HCC, Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere and Lands minister Douglas Mombeshora as respondents.
High Court judge Priscilla Chigumba said that the demolitions were illegal.
“It is a disgrace for two government departments to admit that houses which had been built without the requisite planning authority were demolished and razed to the ground without a court order, without notice in writing being given to all those likely to be affected,” the judge said in a scathing ruling.
“The process was not procedurally fair.”
She said that government departments were not at liberty to unilaterally and arbitrarily demolish any structures in the absence of a court order even if the structures were an eyesore or were without building plans.
“This is a democratic society in which such conduct, especially on the part of government departments whose operations are funded by taxpayers’ money, is not justifiable,” Chigumba said.
The residents told the court that they were left destitute after their homes and property worth several thousands of dollars were destroyed.
Chigumba said the residents, members of Nyikavanhu Housing Cooperative, were not entitled to compensation because the land was illegally sold to them.
She said the problem was caused by the cooperative, which accepted money from the residents against its mandate and permission from the responsible authority to do so.
“The culture of impunity that has pervaded and corroded our government departments should be roundly condemned.
“As a mark of its displeasure at the unlawful conduct of the first and second respondents, a punitive order as to costs will be made against them to discourage such blatant disregard of the law in future,” she said

NAKED WOMEN– Wives Strip in 2nd Round of Salary Protests at Vumbachikwe

Wives of men employed by Duration Gold at Vumbachikwe mine in Gwanda yesterday morning took to the streets for the second time in weeks demonstrating over unfair treatment of their husbands by the company’s management.
The women protested for close to three hours demanding to be addressed by mine authorities over outstanding wages due to their husbands.
As they did last week, the women sang derogative songs telling mine management that their husbands are hungry and failing to perform their matrimonial duties at home. Some deliberately danced exposing torn underwear claiming their husbands are even failing to buy them underwear and sanitary wear because of none payment of wages.
By the time ZimEye left the scene, the mine authorities had not attended to the women but mine security and members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police kept a close eye.
ZimEye.com is reliably informed that the women ended up being dispersed by the police without anyone addressing them and as they left threatened to return tomorrow and afterwards every-day until their demands are met.
Meanwhile, reports from within the mine claim that a delegation from the Ministry of Mines visited the company last week to follow up on the skirmishes. The delegation is reported to have ordered the high gold output producing company to settle the wages immediately as it had no financial problems warranting failure to settle wages.
Efforts to get a comment from the Financial Manager Ollie Iversen at Duration Gold Head Office Bulawayo failed as the reception claimed it was not taking any calls from media houses.
Vumbachikwe mine has for years been one of the best operated mines in the country under Forbes and Thompson before it was taken over by Duration Gold a company owned by mining tycoon, Allan Brent Dolan who owns several other gold mines throughout Africa.
Dolan has a long history of reportedly taking over huge mining operations in African countries, involving governments into corruption activities at the mines before closing them down and leaving with all the riches taken from there.
Dolan is said to be involved in the hotly disputed ownership of the mine with Forbes and Thompson after allegedly reneging on some of the clauses on the agreement of sale.
Since he took over the mining operation, the company is on a downward fall with workers going months without pay and infrastructure not being maintained regardless of the high productivity levels. Several suppliers have not been paid by the mine resulting in supplies being stopped.
In 2014 operations at the Vumbachikwe were shockingly stopped by the Environmental Management Authority after the mine failed to adhere to minimum environmental provisions on waste disposal. Failing environmental tests to that level is a thing that has never happened in its century long mining history.
The workers’ representatives at the mine refused to talk to the media claiming fear of being dismissed. They referred all questions to the Mine Workers Association of Zimbabwe General Secretary in Gweru who was not available at the time of going to press.

Dump “Perennial” Politicians, Costing Development-Chivasa

Most of our problems in Zimbabwe emanate from greedy policy makers who have overstayed in positions of authority.
The excuse given by these recycled politicians is that they are still popular with the electorate and as such they cannot step down.
They also claim to have some unfinished projects they did initiate.
As a result of this we then find lifetime members of parliament, senators and councilors in our politics.
We have seen this from both Zanu PF and the opposition political parties.
How can someone be an MP since 1980 and wants the whole world to believe that there is no person in the same constituency capable of performing the same duties.
What is more disappointing is to have opposition politicians who have been in council, parliament and senate for more than 10 years.
If you visit the constituencies represented by these lifetime politicians drawn from ruling party and opposition there is nothing tangible and not even a single project worth discussing.
The majority of our politicians are hardly seen in their constituencies.
Most of them were last seen when they were campaigning in 2013 and it’s a well-known fact that they will reappear towards the next general elections in 2018.
These lifetime politicians are the ones responsible for using money in exchange of votes.
The voters who are the victims of these politicians seem to be content with receiving some few dollars during election campaigns and are not worried about their own future development.
Maybe the people themselves have concluded that no development will ever come from these politicians except for some few food handouts at campaign rallies.
It’s as if there is a decree that specify that our Zimbabwean politicians must drive expensive and obscene top of the range vehicles.
One will be justified to mistake their houses for hotels and it’s rare just for an ordinary person to meet and have a conversation their elected representatives.
The only closest chance for an ordinary person to meet a politician is unfortunately at a rally and it is public knowledge how such gatherings are conducted.
It’s all about chanting party slogans and rhetoric in the form of speeches which strictly rule out an opportunity of productive engagement during and even after  the ritual.
Zimbabweans must know that our burden as a country lies with politicians who have mistaken politics for an industry.
Politics in developing countries must be centered on representing issues affecting people and continuous engagement with the ordinary person.
The person who qualifies to represent others in any capacity must be an accessible person who is also affected with the same issues that they raise in council meetings, parliament and senate. It’s sad to watch ZTV and see obese bulky bellied crazy baldheads addressing poverty stricken masses purporting to be concerned about hunger and starvation in the country. This is worse than hypocrisy!
As we get closer to the next general elections in 2018 it must be the responsibility of every responsible Zimbabwean to put a stop to lifetime perennial politicians with no solutions to their problems.
Problems will not be solved by people who are not affected as a result of the existence of such.
The biggest problem we have as of now is that of having perennial politicians who are now a liability to the country.
The solution to the problem of lifetime flamboyant politicians who represent unknown interests lies with the voters.
The honor is on them to stop these mercenaries or to continue voting them as councilors, MPs and senators.
The struggle to liberate Zimbabwe is in the hands of the voters if they are caught napping our misery will remain at our door step.

My Wife Is A Witch-Prophet

A self-proclaimed prophet of the Johanne Masowe Apostolic Sect dragged his wife before the Harare Civil Court accusing her of witchcraft.
Norman Senzere alleged that his wife, Esther Charamba, bewitched his first wife and caused her death.
Senzere, who was seeking a protection order against Charamba told magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa that she threatened him with death despite divorcing her.
“We divorced, but she is refusing to leave my house after I gave her parents a cow as a divorce token,” he said.
“She caused the death of my first wife after bewitching her. She is a witch and everyone she threatens with death will die.
“She is also threatening my other wife. She harasses her and scolds her using vulgar words. I want her to leave my house and be barred from coming to my workplace because I am no longer a happy man,” Senzere said.
Charamba refuted the allegations. She told the court that it was, in fact, Senzere who was abusing her forcing her to drink concoctions.
“All that he has said are lies,” Charamba said.
“I have never killed anyone nor am I a witch. He is a prophet from Johanne Masowe but he is manufacturing allegations against me.
“He is only trying to get rid of me since I became disabled but he is the one who did not want me to go to the hospital for treatment saying his church does not allow that,” she said.
Mrs Gofa dismissed Senzere’s application citing lack of proof of violence perpetrated against him.-State Media

Bleeding Mutsvangwa “Bounces Back,” Fights

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) provincial chairpersons have thrown their weight behind the Christopher Mutsvangwa-led executive.
At a meeting in Harare, the veterans of the liberation struggle from the country’s 10 provinces, called for a special general meeting to deliberate on the recent developments, which saw the booting out of the Mutsvangwa-led executive through a vote of no confidence.
Mutsvangwa was booted out on Friday together with his wife, Monica Mutsvangwa, ZNLWVA Vice Chairman Headman Moyo and Secretary General Victor Matemadanda.
They have since been replaced by Mandi Chimene as Chairperson, George Mafa as Vice Chairman, and Michael Mapfumo as the new Secretary General, on an interim basis.
However, war veterans chairpersons from the country’s 10 provinces are against the move and they argue that the association’s constitution has no provision of a vote of no confidence.
Matemadanda said the disharmony in the association is meant to weaken the obtaining centre of power by creating divisions.
Mutsvangwa added that the special congress dates will be announced in consultations with the patron, President Robert Mugabe.
“At a time when I am under threat from many corners, you have come in full force behind me, you have shamed them,” said Mutsvangwa.
The meeting was attended by national executive members of the association, members of the Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators Association and Children of the War Veterans Association.-State Media

Bonus Money Released, But…

Bonus money for civil servants has been released but only for army and police officers.
Members of the Defence Forces received their 2015 bonuses yesterday as Government sought to honour its pledge to pay civil servants their bonuses.
It was a case of “smiling all the way to the bank” as members of the defence forces, comprising the Zimbabwe National Army and the Air Force of Zimbabwe, withdrew their bonuses which they had awaited since November last year
Some banks in Harare had queues spilling outside their banking halls, as ZDF members withdrew the bonuses, together with their February salaries. Next on the payment schedule will be the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services and those in the health sector who will get their bonuses next month, while those in Education will be paid in April.
The rest of the civil service and grant-aided institutions will be paid in May. Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Prisca Mupfumira yesterday confirmed that Government had started paying the bonuses.
“As Government, we honour our commitments and we are much concerned about the welfare of the workers,” she said. Zimbabwe Teachers Association chief executive Mr Sifiso Ndlovu applauded Government for sticking to its promise. “Government has shown commitment to respect the civil servants’ right to a bonus,” he said.
“Finally, the operational commitment has been put into practice and the workers can now remain focused on service delivery.” College Lecturers Association of Zimbabwe president Mr David Dzatsunga said: “We appreciate that finally the employer has walked the talk on bonuses and hope that the same honesty will permeate all facets of Government.
“We also hope to see the same with non-monetary incentives which will cushion us from the low salaries we are getting.” Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe secretary general Mr Raymond Majongwe added: “President Mugabe has lived to his word and we await the same on other promises made to better our conditions of service. We still hope as the Apex Council to meet him and discuss some of the serious challenges we are facing.”
Due to tight fiscal space, Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa had early last year contemplated suspending payment of bonuses for 2015 and 2016 to create space for funding Zim-Asset projects.
The move irked civil servants and President Mugabe overturned it, saying: “When Government bestows a benefit on civil servants, that benefit cannot be withdrawn because it has become a right.” The payment of bonuses is being staggered as Government’s tight fiscal space does not allow a once-off payment.
Delays in the payment of 2015 bonuses saw some civil servants threatening to strike, not before their representatives met Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor Dr John Mangudya who took them through what Government had in its coffers at that time. This satisfied the representatives who subsequently ruled out the industrial action.
At least 83 percent of Government revenue is servicing salaries and Government has come up with a number of strategies to reduce the wage bill. Government is rationalising the civil service following an audit carried out last year by the Public Service Commission. Meanwhile, civil servants have elected Mrs Cecelia Alexander of the Public Service Association as the new Apex chairperson, replacing Zimta president Mr Richard Gundane, whose one year tenure ended last month.
Mrs Alexander will be deputised by Mr Enock Paradzai of PTUZ, while Mr Dzatsunga is the new secretary. Apex Council is an umbrella body which brings together public sector unions in salary negotiations with Government. -State Media

Rape Victim Breaks Down In Court

A woman from Bulawayo had a breakdown in court while narrating how she was gang raped by three men welding knives. Her emotional state forced the magistrate to postpone the case in which two of the men who allegedly tore open her clothes using a knife before raping her in turns, appeared facing charges of rape and robbery.
The woman was serious injured when one of the suspects, who is on the run, allegedly kicked her on her private parts after she said she was on HIV medication.
Prosecuting, Robin Mukura called the woman as the second State witness after the first witness, a taxi driver, told the court that Dumile Dungeni, 32 and Mlungisi Khumalo, 34, robbed him and the woman of property and gang raped the woman before driving off in his vehicle.
The woman wept uncontrollably as she told the court how the trio robbed and raped her. “I know the two men as our attackers who pounced on me and my friend while we were driving in Cowdray Park. After tying us up with ropes, they drove to a certain spot where one of them dragged me out of the car and used a knife to undress me,” she said and immediately began sobbing.
Senior regional magistrate Tranos Utahwashe adjourned proceedings and the woman was taken for counselling. The session failed to produce results. The woman wept continually and could not continue with her testimony, forcing Utahwashe to postpone the matter to tomorrow.
Dungeni and Khumalo allegedly robbed the taxi driver before taking turns to rape the woman several times.
The third alleged robber did not rape the woman after she claimed that she was on HIV medication. He, however, allegedly kicked her privates and she sustained serious injuries.
“It was last year on August 1 when the woman called her friend who is a registered taxi operator and asked him to take her home at around 8PM. She had some goods and they went home before proceeding to her brother’s place, also in Cowdray Park,” said Mukura.
“On their way back, someone smashed the windscreen from outside with an unknown object. As they tried to figure out what was happening, three men emerged from the darkness and opened the car doors.”
He said the trio slapped and threatened to hit them with machetes, knives and iron bars.
“One of the men jumped onto the driver’s seat and drove while they sat at the back in-between the two men who continued to assault them, forcing them to look down,” Mukura said.
After a while, the men allegedly stopped the car and one of them dragged the woman out of the vehicle and used a knife to cut her leggings and panties. He raped the woman once and force marched her back into the car, the court heard.
“He would stop after a few kilometres, rape her and drag her back into the car. He did this three times,” Mukura said.
The court heard that the other suspect also raped the woman. “The third man failed to rape her as she begged him saying she was on ARVs. He, however, kicked her privates until they were sore,” Mukura said.
“They drove along a dusty road in a bushy area connecting Bulawayo and Nyamandlovu and dropped the pair before driving off.” – State Media

Govt forces Border Gezi ethics into schools’ curriculum

boyschool
Government through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary education has ordered an immediate introduction of semi military ethics to be observed by all learners throughout the country.
In a circular sent out to all Primary and Secondary Schools in the country last week, the Ministry has orders all learners to daily recite an oath of loyalty to the sitting government.
The oath of loyalty is varied in content between the levels of the school systems. In the oath, children have to swear to respect the country’s president and all the country’s leaders and vow never to disrespect the authorities.
The oath is a duplication of the oath that the infamous ZANU PF youth known as Green Bombers chant every day throughout their training at the Border Gezi training youth training centres.
Over and above the oath of allegiance, learners are now required to march and salute the national flag in military fashion. Whenever the children sing the national anthem, the circular instructs the learners to stand at attention with one hand holding their chest while the other is raised with a clenched fist. The raised clinched fist is ZANU PF’s symbol.
Added to the school curriculum through the same circular is the dictation that schools must teach all learners mass displays as part of their extra curriculum activity. Mass displays are normally an entertainment feature at state and ZANU PF gatherings.
Meanwhile, Primary and Secondary education Minister Lazarus Dokora will tour the country’s ten provinces emphasising the new requirements. On Saturday the Minister kicked off his nationwide tour in Manicaland Province.

Dead Bleeding Body On US Jet Explained

A dead bleeding body discovered on a US plane at Harare International airport, has been investigated. Fresh details point that the lifeless corpse is that of a stowaway(that is, a person who secretly boarded the jet undetected and while hanging from an unsafe hideout,  soon died from friction injuries).
Zimbabwean authorities impounded the cargo plane carrying a consignment for the South African Reserve Bank after the body was discovered on board.
“The police are now handling the issue and the plane, which is owned by Western Global Airlines, has been grounded at Harare International Airport since Sunday,” Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer David Chawota said by phone. The plane, en route to South Africa from Germany, landed in Harare after requesting permission to refuel when the body was discovered, he said.
The unidentified body is presumed to be a stowaway, Pradeep Maharaj, a group executive at South Africa’s Pretoria-based central bank, said in an e-mailed response to questions.
“The SARB is working with the relevant authorities to ensure that the cargo is released and transported to South Africa,” he said, without disclosing what the cargo is.
Zimbabwean Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi met with diplomats from the U.S., Germany, South Africa and Pakistan to discuss the impounded plane, according to Joey Bimha, the secretary for foreign affairs.

Politicians Snubbing Communities-ERC

Election Resource Centre (ERC) said they are worried by the behaviour of some elected officials who are afraid of meeting their constituencies.
ERC director Tawanda Chimhini made the revelations at the weekend when they were launching a community engagement project titled “Communities in Action”.
Chimhini who was reluctant to mention names of politicians who are snubbing constituency meetings said they are several politicians who are not comfortable with the initiative.
“We have seen leadership that thrives on an ignorant society and some of these politicians have been very uncomfortable, they felt threatened and thought that we are now chasing away their pray,”said Chimhini.
“But this programme is not a witch hunting initiative because it is also assisting elected officials to meet with their constituency’s .So we are giving both the politicians and communities a platform to interface because some of the politicians have been complaining that people are not coming to their meetings”.
The initiative which Chimhini‘s organisation is engaging communities in is aimed at creating citizens as opposed to voters.
“Where we are going is where communities see the vote beyond simply putting an X because is about employing someone to provide a service.
“So once every vote is based on the issues and priorities of the communities then you have an empowered community and this is exactly where we are going,” he said.

Mugabe And Grace Are “Witches”-Mliswa

Youth Advocacy for Reform and Democracy (YARD) Temba Mliswa has accused the First family of practicing witchcraft because of their “strong” belief in the practice.
The firebrand politician was reacting to the arrest and subsequent harassment of one of his members by the police on Saturday when they were having a pre-Valentine’s Day march in the city centre.
Mliswa told the reporters on Monday in Harare that all the frustrations Zimbabweans have were a result of Zanu PF’s continued in fighting at a time they were supposed to be concentrating on the ailing economy.
He said castigated Grace for continuously accusing fellow party members of plotting to kill her husband saying that he believes that the first family performs witchcraft.
“It is pretty clear that the first family believes a lot in witchcraft, they are constantly accusing people in witchcraft, “he said.
“You can accuse people of witchcraft when you also partake in witchcraft that is very clear and we cannot have hypocrisy and a situation when we say we pray then you say Mai Mujuru and her cabal including me allegedly wanted to kill the President.”
The former Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial chairman said Grace is also a lady of loose morals.
“The last time she spoke about how Mai Mujuru would then go and see the President in a short skirt ,but who worked in the President’s office and ended up being the first lady? , when  the President was married to the late Sally Mugabe,”said Mliswa.
“We are talking about morals and a party that respects morality.
“She has decided to denigrate and humiliate people in public out of morality, Zimbabweans are not stupid and we know who our first lady is and because of being the wife of the President we have given her the respect regales of her background”.

LATEST Politburo Meeting “to Remove” Mnangagwa

  • Army’s entire weaponry suddenly removed from Masvingo Province on Grace’s orders.
  • The politburo agenda set only by Mugabe and Chombo

Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to resign this week following his humiliation by First Lady Grace Mugabe last Friday, sources claim after an emergency politburo meeting was suddenly scheduled for this coming Wednesday, ZimEye.com can reveal. It comes after the First Lady publicly charged that someone who wants to take over from her husband last month planned to bomb her dairy business, details emerging later that the latter act was all staged in order to create prima facie conditions to remove Mnangagwa.
Spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo confirmed the urgent meeting date on Monday morning without going into details on the declared agenda. “The politburo agendas are set only by the President or Dr Chombo,” a top source told ZimEye.
It all comes after Grace Mugabe last week Friday said she would “kick you out,” at her same Chiweshe rally where Vice president Phelekezela Mphoko standing aside her indicated directly that a Karanga(referring to Mnangagwa) will not succeed President Robert Mugabe.
Other sources told ZimEye.com Mnangagwa has moved to seek his resignation citing an untenable, uncertain future in his job as VP. “He has told us in clear terms that he is resigning,” a close source told ZimEye.com
Meanwhile ZANU PF politburo members were mum over the development as a thick cloud of fear hovered on the party in preparation for the Wednesday meeting.
It is claimed that the special politburo indaba has been called in order to remove Mnangagwa.
But another source said there is no way the meeting could be to do that. “We have an extra ordinary meeting once in a while when there are pertinent issues needing to be discussed. If Ngwena has to be removed, it does not need a politburo meeting. The President can simply remove him on his own… I think the meeting is all to do with the instability caused by the First Lady through her statements last Friday,” they said.

Army artillery suddenly moved from Masvingo to Harare on Grace’s orders.
Sources say that the army’s entire artillery has been removed from Masvingo to Harare on Grace Mugabe’s orders last week. The moving of the weaponry is all due to fears that Mnangagwa might lead a coup, and the Masvingo province recently demonstrated its dislike for Mrs Mugabe by blocking her rallies in December.

Toddler Burnt to Death

A TODDLER was burnt beyond recognition while his granny escaped with serious burns after their family home was gutted by fire in Bulawayo’s Nketa suburb. The fire is suspected to have been ignited by the deceased’s four-year-old brother who was playing with matches.
Olwethu Moyo, 2, died on the spot while his brother escaped to safety.
The incident happened on Friday.
Their grandmother, Sithabiso Bhebhe, was rushed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals where she was treated and discharged. She suffered burns on her face and left arm.
The boys’ mother is said to be in South Africa.
The State Media yesterday caught up with Bhebhe who said she tried in vain to rescue the child.
“I was washing plates outside when I suddenly saw flames coming through the window. I tried to dash into the house knowing there were children inside,” said Bhebhe.
She said searing heat from the flames kept her at bay.
Bhebhe said she screamed for help and her neighbours rushed to assist her.
“I heard the baby screaming once in the burning house. As neighbours came to my aid, I thought his four-year-old brother was also inside the house. I tried to ignore the flames and force my way into the house but neighbours restrained me,” she said.
“They called the Fire Brigade but it was already too late. The neighbours tried to extinguish the fire using buckets.”
Bhebhe said she was somewhat relieved when she saw her four-year-old grandson rushing from the backyard as she thought he had also been burnt to death.
Bulawayo Fire Brigade Senior Divisional Officer Linos Phiri urged parents and guardians to keep matches out of reach of children.
He said some fire incidents could be avoided.
“We want to urge parents to make sure they keep matches out of the reach of children. We know children can be very naughty and want to experiment with anything. But we wouldn’t be talking about this if they had kept matches out of their reach,” said Phiri.

MPs Used As Cash Machines

Zimbabwe’s MPs are under-utilised, and the public here know more about South Africa’s parliamentary affairs than they do their own country’s, Harare West legislator Jessie Majome writes lamenting, saying there is an urgent government need to rope the public in on the-goings-on in parliament.

On Wednesday 10 February I participated in the Youth and Policy Maker Dialogue which was organised by the Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust (YETT).
I got a chance to demystify my role as a legisltaor to Harare youths mostly from Chitungwiza. Unfortunately the organisers did not invite Harare Westerners.
At the meeting I spoke on how all political issues and ‘youth issues’ are inseparable and therefore vital that youths understand and participate in parliamentary processes as required by Section 141 of the Constitution.

I shared my view that political patronage has shortchanged people of the real value they can get from parliamentary democracy and instead created an MP who is more of an ATM, funeral policy and bursary than a legislator, government policy overseer and representative. I make no apologies for not consuming my parliamentary tenure with “projects” and rather engage the constituency and work on advocating government policy to the better and more effective in improving lives.
I lamented how MPs we are ill equipped to represent our constituencies as there is no staff or public meeting hall hire finances, or even offices to work from. I have to employ someone from my personal resources and opened my virtual constituency office as a way to interact with Harare Westerners and exhibit my work.
It struck me as sad that only a small and usually distorted and sensational fraction of what happens in Parliament is covered in the media, thence distorting the public’s view about what we do in parliament. Zimbabweans know more about S A parliamentary proceedings than ours and some think we only ask questionscbecause that’s all ZBC covers. I hope that with the advent of social media’s popularity more parliamentary information will be shared freely.

Soldiers Beat Man to Death

TWO police officers from Masvingo tortured a man to death after he had won a fight against one of them following a row over a fake $5 note. Brian Magama, 34, and Isaac Kachena, whose age was not given in court, severely beat up Luckson Muringani of Chivhiko Village under Chief Sengwe for the whole night at Chibwedziva police base in 2010.
Muringani later died in hospital after sustaining a fractured skull during the prolonged assault. Kachena is on the run.
Supreme Court Judge Justice Susan Mavhangira on Friday heard how the duo used truncheons and kicked and punched Muringani for more than 10 hours.
Justice Mavhangira is back in Masvingo on circuit to clear outstanding High court cases.
Magama had pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder but Justice Mavhangira, sitting with assessors Samuel Mutomba and Joseph Mushuku, convicted him due to overwhelming evidence.
Sentencing him to 16 years in prison for murder with actual intent, Justice Mavhangira said it was clear that Magama and Kachena intended to kill Muringani.
“The fact that you tortured a defenceless person for the whole night brazenly shows your hard heartedness.
“Being a police officer is never a passport for depriving a person of liberty and life. You’re held responsible for tarnishing the image of the police service. You could’ve used the law to bring him before the court in place of torturing him to death,” she said.
Justice Mavhangira said while the court would not lose sight of Magama’ young age when he committed the offence (he was 28-years-old), it had a duty to protect the sanctity of life.
“You committed a serious crime of spilling blood. You deserve a deterrent sentence that will send a clear message to other police officers not to take the law in their own hands.
“There is no law which gives you powers to kill suspects,” she said.
In his defence, Magama, who was represented pro deo by Frank Chirairo, argued that Muringani might have fallen off a moving vehicle days after the assault and possibly smashed his head, leading to his death.
The prosecutor, Elson Chavarika, said sometime in March 2010, Magama and Kachena tortured Muringani to death after accusing him of assaulting Kachena over a counterfeit $5 note.
Muringani died six days after the assault at Chiredzi Hospital.
“Sometime in March 2010, the fugitive, Kachena, had a misunderstanding with Muringani over a fake $5 which degenerated into a fist fight. Muringani emerged victorious. Kachena and Magama decided to take revenge on Muringani several weeks later, on April 17,” said Chavarika.
The court heard that the two police officers approached Muringani and dragged him out of a bottle store where he was relaxing with friends.
“The two force-marched Muringani to Chibwedziva Police Base where they took turns to brutally assault him with truncheons,” said the prosecutor.
“They kicked, punched and slapped him all over his body the whole night until the following morning.”
In the morning, Chavarika said, Muringani fainted and the two revived him by pouring cold water on him. He said the police officers continued beating Muringani after realising he had regained consciousness.
Chavarika said the cops released Muringani when they were about to knock off but he complained of pain and dizziness.
The court heard how family members rushed Muringani to Chibwedziva Clinic.
Due to his deteriorating condition, the nurses at the clinic referred him to Chiredzi Hospital where he was attended by a doctor on April 20 and discharged the same day.
“Muringani was discharged and went home but his condition didn’t improve after which he was taken back to Chiredzi Hospital where he died on admission,” Chavarika said.
A post-mortem report produced in court showed that he died from a fractured skull sustained during the torture.

Prophet Orders Men To Exhume Human Sketelons For Cash

By Terrence Mawawa  Chivi| A self proclaimed  prophet here ordered five men to dig a grave last week claiming he had been shown a vision of a lot of cash stashed behind human bones.
In an incident that has left the local villagers stunned, Mavhuma Farai Madzivire and his four friends were instructed by a local prophet to go and exhume the bones to extract cash from the grave. Madzivire was accompanied by Claudius Mafudza, Tazviona Hove, Edward Siziba and Innocent Mpofu.
Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula confirmed the incident to ZimEye.com.
The five are being charged with the violation of a grave .
After being instructed by the prophet, Madzivire and his four friends went to the graveyard in Madyira Village and began to dig one of the graves belonging to Madzivire’s grandfather. The prophet told him he had seen in a vision a lot of money stashed in the grave.
Two villagers caught the man digging the grave and alerted other villagers leading to the arrest of the five men who were taken to Ngundu Police Station.
Due to the current economic challenges many people are flocking to prophets and spiritists seeking divine assistance and some have been forced to do sinister things in a desperate bid to amass wealth.
The prophet has since disappeared from Madyira village following the tension sparked by the incident.
Although the prophet’s name could not be established, it is understood he is a member of the Johane Masowe Apostolic sect.
Self proclaimed prophets have also been widely criticised for diverting the essence of the gospel all for their gain in the wake of the current socio-economic challenges.

Dead, Bleeding Body Found On US Jet in Harare

The Western Global Airlines cargo plane impounded by security services at the Harare International Airport yesterday after the handling staff discovered a bleeding corpse aboard
The Western Global Airlines cargo plane impounded by security services at the Harare International Airport yesterday after the handling staff discovered a bleeding corpse aboard

State Media-The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe yesterday impounded a chartered MD11 trijet cargo plane owned by Western Global Airlines stashed with millions of South African rands and a dead body after it asked to land in Harare during a flight from Germany to South Africa.During routine refuelling airport staff noticed blood dripping from the plane, the dead body found, and the alert given. Investigations were still in progress last night.
Western Global Airlines is based in southwest Florida in the United States of America. The plane was flying from Germany to South Africa when the captain asked for a technical landing at the Harare International Airport after an initial request to land in Mozambique was turned down.
Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe general manager Mr David Chaota confirmed the incident last night. “Yes, it is a Western Global Airlines plane and now the case is being handled by our security ” he said.
South African Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Vusi Mavimbela confirmed the incident last night but would not give details. “I spent the better of the day at the airport,” he said. “I am aware of what you are saying but I cannot comment now because there are investigations that are still going on.”
Sources close to the matter told The Herald last night that the plane was destined for South Africa. “The plane requested for a technical landing which was granted by the airport authorities,” said the source.
“Upon refueling, the airport attendants discovered that there was blood dripping from the plane. When they checked to try and ascertain where the blood was coming from that is when they discovered a suspended dead body in the plane.
“The matter was reported to the authorities at the airport and the plane was impounded while the body was taken to pathologists.” Unconfirmed reports say the crew included two Americans, a Pakistani and a South African. The whereabouts of the crew were unknown last night.
The nationality of the dead person could not be established by the time of going to print, nor any details of how he died. Western Global Airlines operates a fleet of 16 MD11 freighters, a modern stretched upgrade of the old DC10, according to its web site.
The private cargo line is owned by James and Sunny Neff and advertises that it has a good range of customers, including FedEx. It said aid agencies chartered it to fly staff and supplies into West Africa last year to fight the Ebola epidemic.
The last time Zimbabwean civil aviation authorities impounded a foreign plane was in 2004, when the authorities arrested a planeload of 64 mercenaries who wanted to take part in a coup in Equatorial Guinea. Efforts to get a comment from the police were fruitless as police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba’s mobile phone went unanswered.-State Media

Mujuru Giggles Mnangagwa

mujuruuuuu
FORMER vice-president Joice Mujuru believes her successor Emmerson Mnangagwa is tasting his own medicine after First Lady Grace Mugabe turned on the Midlands strongman on Friday, accusing him of plotting against her husband.
Grace accused Mnangagwa of a plethora of things, including linking him to an alleged plot to kill her son — Chatunga — and the recent attempt “to bomb” her Gushungo Dairy in Mazowe.
She has threatened to reveal more information allegedly exposing the so-called plot against Mugabe. The setting for the attacks against Mnangagwa — a rally in Mazowe South — and the language laced with innuendos and hate speech had a striking similarity to Grace’s unrestrained attacks on Mujuru in 2014.
Mujuru, who on Friday registered her own political party — Zimbabwe People First (ZPF) — said she does not feel any pity for Mnangagwa. The VP is believed to have been one of the architects of Mujuru’s demise after years of jostling for control of Zanu PF with the war veteran.
“I have no advice that I would give him,” Mujuru told The Standard. “They were together when lies were peddled against me and many in the party, so he is just having the same treatment that I got and they are tasting their own medicine.
“They knew that all that was being said about me were lies, but they believed it; that is when I realised that a huge disaster was imminent in Zanu PF because the leadership allowed it [my persecution] to happen.
“I decided to keep quiet and watch the party disintegrate.”
She added: “I don’t feel pity for him and anyone there at all! That is what they wanted.”
Mujuru said Mnangagwa was welcome to join ZPF party, but on condition that he starts from grassroots.
Mnangagwa took over from Mujuru in December 2014 after she was kicked out of the party on allegations of plotting to kill Mugabe through consulting witch-doctors, among other accusations.
She denied the allegations and challenged Mugabe to prove the claims in court. At the time, Mujuru described the charges as politicking by those who wanted power at all cost.
War Veterans minister Christopher Mutsvangwa, a key Mnangagwa ally, was also singled out for a tongue lashing by a visibly angry Grace on Friday.
Zanu PF is divided into two distinct factions, with one backing Mnangagwa and another G40 which reportedly has the backing of the First Lady.
Mujuru said the chaos in Zanu PF was a sign of a failed leadership but vowed never to return to the ruling party as she was not fully committed to ZPF.
“That is what they wanted (destruction of Zanu PF) because the leadership allowed it to happen,” she said. When everything is done, the party will be launched and we will let you know,” she said.
In her parting shot, Mujuru said Mnangagwa would not qualify for a top post at ZPF.
“He will have to go to his province that is where he will be entertained not at our position (national),” she said.
Like Mnangagwa, Mujuru was at one time being tipped to succeed Mugabe who has ruled Zimbabwe since independence in 1980.

Jonathan Moyo Knifes Mnangagwa

Prof Jonathan Moyo
Prof Jonathan Moyo

After First Lady Grace Mugabe’s shock mauling of Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday, identifying the victorious Zanu PF faction in the battle to succeed her husband was an easy task.
Prior to the Mnangagwa headache that began at a stage-managed rally at the Zanu PF headquarters and Grace’s Mazowe South shocker, rumoured G40 faction’s strategist Jonathan Moyo had been fighting a lone cyber battle against “Team Lacoste”.
Days before the politburo meeting, the State-controlled media had already written him off and the former Information minister was forced to seek refuge on Twitter.
He gave as much as he received from the papers he accused of getting instructions from President Robert Mugabe’s spokesperson George Charamba. Moyo accused Charamba of fighting in Mnangagwa’s corner.
Even after the performance by Grace and Sarah Mahoka — who dared Mnangagwa to disassociate himself from those plotting against Mugabe — the papers insisted Moyo had his back against the wall.
Moyo had allegedly been banned from using social media — especially Twitter — to discuss party issues by the Zanu PF politburo on Wednesday. Grace came to his defence at the rally and admonished his critics, including the once-feared war veterans. The Tsholotsho North MP, who has survived previous attempts to push him out of Zanu PF, was back on Twitter yesterday and he had a field day.
“Good morning good Zimbabweans,” he tweeted in Ndebele and Shona.
“The day after Mazowe Crush 2 is refreshingly good. Handei Tione.”
Mazowe Crush 1 was probably the rally held at Grace’s orphanage in Mazowe where former vice-president Joice Mujuru’s fate was sealed in 2014.
The Higher and Tertiary Education minister followed up the jab with more celebratory tweets. The tweets read: “Here is the question of the day folks: What is real, indigenous and truly Zimbabwean: Lacoste Perfume or Mazowe Crush?
“The Lacoste transformation: From infesting rivers as crocos to stocking duty-free shops as perfume.”
Grace said she would soon name and shame Zanu PF officials behind youths that don T-shirts inscribed “Team Lacoste”.
Team Lacoste is said to be a faction backing Mnangagwa and Moyo has in the past claimed it is the only grouping remaining in Zanu PF opposed to Mugabe’s continued rule.
Alex Magaisa, a legal expert and political commentator based in the United Kingdom, said it was clear that Moyo had turned the tables against his rivals that include War Veterans minister Christopher Mutsvangwa.
“Charamba, Mutsvangwa and the State media were part of the offensive, which targeted Moyo and for a time it seemed that Moyo was in trouble,” he wrote on his blog after Grace’s rally.
“Now, however, they are the ones in deep mire,” he added.
However, Magaisa said it was difficult to say what would happen to Mnangagwa after Grace’s outburst considering his close relationship with Mugabe.
“He is of different and stronger political stock [than Mujuru],” he wrote. “He has been with Mugabe for more than 40 years with close roles in security-related matters.
“He has played an integral role in Zanu PF electoral successes, by means both fair and foul. He is a man who knows a lot, perhaps too much.”
Moyo was brought into Zanu PF by Mugabe after he impressed as the spokesperson of the failed initiative to draft Zimbabwe’s new constitution at the turn of the millennium.
He was fired in 2004 for allegedly being the brains behind the so-called Tsholotsho Declaration — where party structures were said to have connived to replace Mugabe with Mnangagwa.
He was readmitted into Zanu PF in 2008 after reportedly engineering Mugabe’s controversial run-off election victory after he was pummelled by MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai in the first round of the vote.
Moyo has said he learnt his lesson in 2004 well — not to associate with any Zanu PF faction plotting against Mugabe. -Standard

Grace Mugabe Suspends 3 Chairmen

Barely a day after she threatened she “will kick” everyone who does not listen to her, First Lady Grace Mugabe Grace has had her G40 faction push out three provincial chairpersons.
Zanu-PF Political Commissar Saviour Kusukuwere yesterday announced the suspension of three provincial chairpersons for alleged disobedience and inciting insolence.
Kizito Chivamba (Midlands), Ezra Chadzamira (Masvingo) and Joel Biggie Matiza (Mashonaland East) were suspended and are under investigation.
In the interim, Kasukuwere said, Tapuwa Matangaidze (provincial secretary for administration) takes charge of Midlands, while Mashonaland East deputy chair Bernard Makokove replaces Matiza.
However, the Midlands leadership has disputed the major allegations leading to Chivamba’s suspension.
And Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association executive members who received no-confidence votes along with their leader Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa on Friday also maintained their ouster was “null and void”.
At a Zanu-PF Matabeleland North provincial co-ordinating committee meeting in Lupane, Kasukuwere said errant party members would be dismissed.
Among those present were Zanu-PF politburo members Professor Jonathan Moyo, Dr Obert Mpofu, Cain Mathema and Patrick Zhuwawo; and Matabeleland North provincial chair Richard Moyo and Central Committee member Clifford Sibanda.
Kasukuwere said, “We have suspended Chivamba because he was no longer coming for meetings. Secondly, he blocked members of the Women’s League from coming to Harare to welcome the President. He also went to the Press, making statements that undermine (the party) leadership.
“The same with Matiza in Mashonaland East … He was harassing women there and we have said to him ‘enough’. He came for the meeting, but made sure there was pressure on women not to attend that meeting.
“In Masvingo, Ezra Chadzamira had the same problems, and we have told him to step aside. We can’t have insolence in the party; such arrogance and disrespect for leadership.”
He said Zanu-PF was well-prepared to thwart elements fanning instability and attempting insurgency against President Mugabe.
“We know there are people who wear clothes with President Mugabe’s picture and sing his praises in the afternoon, but turn against him at night. They caucus at night, telling each other that the President must leave office. You think we don’t see you?
“You make our President your legitimate target and think that we will just stand there and watch? That won’t happen … If you want to destroy yourself in Zanu-PF, go against a man called RGM. If you want to be finished, plot against him.
“We know some people go to a house in Kwekwe where they are told all sorts of things and think that we don’t know. You must know that whatever you say in the cover of darkness, we will always know about it. If you are called for a private (meeting), refuse. Hold formal meetings such as this one where there are minutes which can be referred to in future.”
He added that the party would not rescind no-confidence votes. “Some are now saying let’s sit down and review the votes of no confidence; let’s go for a hearing. We have some who are lawyers who say, ‘No, let’s have a meeting and have natural justice’.State Media

Dead Man’s Body Found With Missing Parts

A body of a man from Mt Darwin was discovered, his head was battered and his left ear missing. This was one of the most horrific murder cases recorded by the police recently.
Edmore Mwedziwendira (43) of Chibaya Village, Chief Nembire in Mt Darwin had a deep cut on the neck and a deformed skull. The police have since apprehended three suspects.
The chilling murder is one of the disturbing cases that the police have cracked in recent weeks, as the force moves to clamp down human killers.
The police said murder cases had shot up to as high as 12 cases per week between December and January. However, such cases are now on the decrease.
Giving an update on homicide cases to The Sunday Mail last week, National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the police had apprehended Mwedziwendira’s suspected killers within three days.
“After their arrest; Tinashe Nyarunge, Kilford Mutimure and Takesure Chiunza confessed to the crime and are in police custody awaiting trial in April,” she said.
‘‘The deceased (Edmore Mwedziwendira) was the owner of Mwedziwendira Shop at Chikwira Business Centre. On the day in question, he and his son, Tatenda Mwedziwendira, closed the shop and they retired to bed in their respective bedrooms.
“Later on, Tatenda proceeded to the deceased’s bedroom and discovered that the door was locked from outside. Tatenda force opened the door and noticed some blood stains on the floor.
“He reported the matter to the police and they attended the scene.
“Police conducted a search and found the body of the deceased lying in a grave yard about ninety metres from the shop.
“The police observed that the deceased had a deep cut on the neck and a deformed skull. The left ear was missing and the head was completely skinned.”
In their confession, the trio said the killing was part of a ritual process and implicated a Harare prominent woman.
“However, their statements about the woman were not corroborating so we were not able to ascertain her whereabouts,” Snr Asst Comm Charamba said.
In another disturbing homicide case that took place in the wee hours of last Friday morning, a soldier based at Inkomo Barracks axed his wife to death following a domestic dispute.
Snr Asst Comm Charamba said police were finalising investigations on the case.
“On 12 February 2016 at around 0130 hours, complainant Rudo Mandizha had a misunderstanding with her husband Maxwell Nyamuri at Mandaza village, Mubaira, Mhondoro.
“The husband is a soldier stationed at Inkomo Barracks. ‘The complainant screamed for help and this awakened neighbours who went to investigate and found the house ablaze,” she said.
“The accused had struck the complainant with an axe before setting the house ablaze. The three children were nowhere to be found.
‘‘Police are still finalising investigations and more details will follow.” In yet another appalling murder case in Mhondoro, Simbarashe Munakamwe of Suku Village, Chief Mangwende in Murewa stabbed a 15-year-old secondary school pupil at Chitemerere Secondary School.
Munakamwe, who is in police custody, stabbed the juvenile after she had rejected his love proposal.
Snr Asst Comm Charamba also urged members of the public to be wary of armed robbers.
Last week, three unknown men pounced on Engen Service Station in Chitungwiza, physically assaulted three fuel attendants — Elias Tekenende, Melody Romosi and Tendai Mafala — before getting away with valuables and US$705 in cash. – State Media

Hungry Zimbabweans Lose Valentines For Maize/Fees

By Sydney Barson|Yesterday was Valentine’s day, and most Zimbabweans will this year not see love in the air not because they have lost all love but because of the continuing harsh economic climate prevailing under the leadership of President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU PF government.
Valentine’s Day celebrated for love every year on February 14th, is normally a cashcow for the business community but this year, sales were painstakingly low.
In a snap survey carried out by this reporter, it emerged that most lovers have accepted their fate. No money!
Being a leap year its the duty of the females to buy presents for their hubbies, so tradition says. “I told my wife not to bother with buying me a present since we have a lot of pending money issues,” said Joseph Dube of Bulawayo.
Yevai Mutomba of Lupane underscored the need for sacrifice to sustain a loving relationship. Said Mutomba, “indeed there is no money in circulation but we should sacrifice for the sake of love. It’s really difficult but I will strive to do something.”
Sodumehlezi Dube of Hwange said she has ruled out Valentine’s day from her calendar.
“Things are tough, I need money for more pertinent issues like maize and school fees, so Valentine’s is out of my calendar,” she said.
The business community has not been spared, with florists and boutique owners crying foul. “I regret hoarding a lot of flowers, there is basically no business this year,” said Thobekile Ndlovu a Bulawayo florist.
Maud Katema Moyo a beautician and boutique owner lamented the unending hard times.
” Tell me when these hard times are going to end. I am still struggling selling accessories from last year,” said Moyo.
Meanwhile money lenders endorsed the cashless economy mantra. Promise Chapanduka a money lender said, ” the economy is bad and our business is low. Our clients mostly civil servants are not forthcoming.”
Another money lender Sharon Mpofu bemoaned the good old days where everyone was social. She said people are already over burdened with rentals, fees, and maize issues.
Valentine’s day comes within a week of the upcoming $800 000 birthday bash for President Mugabe planned for Masvingo.

Boy 8, Guns Down 7 Year- Old Friend

In a bizarre incident, an eight-year-old boy from Marange shot and killed his friend (7) with a home-made rifle last Saturday.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa, confirmed the incident which happened at Village 15B, Mt Zuma.
He said the incident happened after Paul Changadzo (56) came back home from Mutandanda Range where he was hunting with a home-made rifle.
“Upon arrival, he headed straight to the cattle kraal to milk his cow. He left the gun hanging on a pole which was near the kraal.
“The now late seven-year-old boy came together with his eight-year-old friend who grabbed the firearm.
“He shot the seven-year-old boy on the right shoulder. He died on the spot,” said Insp Kakohwa
Changadzo rushed to check upon hearing the gun shot and found the boy lying down dead.
He made a report at Odzi Police Station.  The police attended the scene and recovered the firearm.

Zim Woman Abused By Facebook Thug

Pictured: woman abused by thug, posing with her husband during their wedding

A Zimbabwean woman has been abused by a dirty Facebook thug.
The troll who runs a Caribbean Facebook page, stole the family woman’s wedding pictures featuring her happy husband, and doctored a false story that claims the lady was at the time instead marrying her son while in Masvingo, Zimbabwe.

It claimed she is 6 months pregnant with her son’s child. “She is six months pregnant and … has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, who she says are coveting her,” the story said.

It continued adding,  “Betty stunned a village court last week when she said the affair with her son had begun three years earlier”.

The woman was named as “Betty Mbereko” (from Mwenezi in Masvingo). But ZimEye can reveal the pictured woman does not even live in Zimbabwe and is in fact a UK resident – She has been living in the UK for 15 years since 2001, and is a highly respected family woman. ZimEye.com can reveal since her relocation to the UK in 2001, she has not been in Zim ever since.

She is not even 33 years old, and is happily married woman of several years, and yet the fake story claims she is 40 years old. ZimEye.com however traced the pictured mother of two to southern England where she lives and she poured out her distress. “This man took our pictures from my Facebook profile and created this fake story”, she said.
“We wrote to him several times and he appeared to be acting on it, but only to bully us in return,” she said.

ZimEye has investigated the Facebook page and its related website. We shall not ever publish the name as this would only serve to self advertise the thug’s nefarious business.

Zimbabweans Invade Zambia for Mealie Meal

As hunger looms and drought worsens in Zimbabwe, most Zimbabweans are crossing over into neighbouring Zambia to buy mealie-meal.
One of the Zambian newspapers, The Post reported that Zimbabweans are now being blamed for the shortages of mealie-meal in the resort town of Livingstone, as they are buying the commodity in bulk.
“A check at the Victoria Falls bus station found many Zimbabweans and Zambia loading bags of mealie-meal into minibuses and taxis destined for Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls,” the paper reported on Wednesday.
“A taxi driver, who operates between the Zambia and Zimbabwe border, said an average of 40 to 50 Zambians and Zimbabweans hire him every day to transport mealie-meal across the border to the Zimbabwean side.”
He said most Zambians were now engaging in barter trade with Zimbabweans where they exchanged the sought-after commodity for basics.
“We have many of our (Zimbabwean) friends coming in every day to buy mealie-meal. We also have many Zambians, especially those that cycle, crossing over with bags of mealie-meal and returning with cooking oil, fruit juice, sugar and rice, which are relatively cheaper in Zimbabwe than in our Zambian shops,” the taxi driver was quoted saying.
A spokesperson for the opposition Rainbow Party, Paul Sensele, said there was a looming mealie-meal shortage in Livingstone because of the influx of Zimbabweans.
“We are destined for a shortage of mealie-meal in Livingstone if the trend remains the same,” he told The Post. “However, our friends are also human and they need to eat just like us, but the problem is the millers are not meeting the demand for the commodity.”
Zimbabwe this week appealed for help to raise $1,5 billion to feed at least three million people until the next harvest, citing massive crop failure due to drought.
The country usually imports maize from Zambia, which accommodated many white commercial farmers that were displaced by Zimbabwe’s violent land reform programme spearheaded by President Robert Mugabe at the turn of the millennium.
However, this year, the entire southern African region is facing maize shortages due to drought and the Livingstone mealie-meal supplies may soon dry up for starving Zimbabweans.

Army Has Deserted President Mugabe, says ZANU PF’s Mabanga

The Zimbabwe national army has deserted President Robert Mugabe, claims ZANU PF youth Saul Mabanga.
By Saul Mabanga |They think that Emmerson Mnangagwa is the hunted yet it is clear that Gushungo is the one being hunted.
When hunting the hunter seperates the target from the herd and thus far it is crystal clear that Gushungo has been isolated from all those who can protect him.

Soul Mabanga
Soul Mabanga

The War Veterans have been pushed away from Gushungo, the army, and now close aides like Charamba who have stood loyally next to Gushungo all these years.
Just like the series House of Cards , the enemies seem like friends yet they usurp power slowly and isolate their target from all and any machinery that can defend their target.
Emmerson Mnangagwa is loyal to Gushungo even the first lady once said that, the years of service are proof of the loyalty.
George Charamba is a loose canon that has fired shots in defence of Gushungo and in defence of our sovereignity.
It is sad that those who have less than 20 years in ZANU PF and close to the president are now isolating the President from his trusted aides. It is sad that they are creating more enemies for the First family and setting up the First lady for a great fall.
Men like George Charamba, Ambassador Kajese, Misheck Sibanda, Ignatious Chombo, Emmerson Mnangagwa, Gen. Chiwenga, Major-General Nyikayaramba, Sydney Sekeramayi, Sydney Nyanungo, Alfred Nhepera, Nicholas Goche , Oppah Muchinguri and many others have given their lives in service to and in defence of the President Cde. R. G. Mugabe.
These people are being isolated from Gushungo who then will be left around Gushungo to defend him and the sovereignity of the Republic ?
Where was Sarah Mahoka when Emmerson Mnangagwa , Gen. Zvinavashe, Gen Chiwenga , and others were fighting neo-colonialists who had come in the form of MDC ?
How many times has Jonathan Moyo insulted the President in public and today you say Gushungo should trust him more than those who have openly defended the President since time immemorial.
Emmerson Mnangagwa is not the hunted , they are busy hunting for Gushungo and hunting to kill ZANU PF and thus far they are doing well .
Gushungo is now at their mercy and soon he wont have seasoned patriots to defend him , he will be surrounded by these Johnny come latelies whose loyalty has never been put to the test. They have their own agenda and they have executed it slowly and carefully.
They used to be close to General Mujuru, they were close to Joice Mujuru, they were close to Goche , they were close to Mnangagwa and they are now close to the First Lady, their trend is a trend of destruction and chaos. Theirs is a strategy borrowed from House of Cards the only difference is that Frank Underwood is a system not an individual.
Some say it is the CIA but this is beyond the CIA this is greed, vendettas, hate , manipulation and a lot of money and brains at play.
Not even CIO, MiD, PISI or any Zimbabwean security system can decipher the keys to the strategy at play. This is the end of an era. The end of an African revolution the last soldier Robert Mugabe without a strong , loyal and patriotic system behind him is as good as a compromised soldier.
Africa’s hopes, Africa’s future , Africa’s empowerment dream now hangs by a thread. At the mercy of shadows, and undefined elements who have not been tried and tested.
Cry my beloved continent as we mourn the integeity of ZANU PF and the sanctity of the system around Robert Mugabe that has kept him in power and allowed him to perform so well for black people’s power.
Gushungo those hunting your legacy have surrounded you and who will defend you ? Who can you trust to stand in your defence without Emmerson Mnangagwa and his systems?

Mnangagwa Beats Jonathan Moyo in Mugabe Cash Donations

Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Team Lacoste is leading the way in cash donations towards President Robert Mugabe’s birthday bash, outshining the Jonathan Moyo controlled G40 faction in the process.
Masvingo province, hard hit by severe drought will host the widely criticised birthday bash at Great Zimbabwe momuments where hungry villagers will be watching in awe as invited guests feast during the bash. The cash donations from the Mnangagwa camp have yet again affirmed the feared Vice President’s firm control of the province. Party insiders say the donations are part of a bootlicking strategy to buy loyalty from Mugabe as the warring continues unabated in the ruling party.
Retired Assistant Commissioner Edmore Veterai a Mnangagwa apologist donated $1500, Jeppy Jaboon poured in $1000 while little known Tawanda Mafurufutu another Mnangagwa ally contributed $2500 while Mkwasine Farmers, remote controlled by the Team Lacoste donated $5000. Masvingo Central MP Edmund Mhere a well known Mnangagwa apologist pledged to meet transport costs for delegates and Mnangagwa’s blue-eyed boy, Ezra Chadzamira who is also the Zanu PF provincial chairman pledged four beasts for the birthday bash.
In a one sided race to please Mugabe with donations, the G40 team masterminded by Moyo has surprisingly folded arms to watch from a distance as Team Lacoste takes centre stage in preparing for the massive bash. “If you carefully scrutinise the list I gave you it is very obvious the Mnangagwa team is in control of the proceedings. They are desperately trying to please President Mugabe ,”said a senior party official.
Zanu PF Masvingo Province is expected to raise $100 000 towards the mega event. “We have secured transport, meat and food for the event. We are almost through with the preparations,” said Chadzamira.

Mnangagwa Is Not President Mugabe’s Successor – Mphoko

Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko says his counterpart Emmerson Mnangagwa is not President Robert Mugabe’s successor in the wait as has been assumed.

Phelekezela Mphoko
Phelekezela Mphoko

Mphoko yesterday said it is not a given that a Karanga person will succeed President Mugabe, saying people should not lose sleep over statements by some excitable people in Zanu-PF.
VP Mphoko said some people were already insinuating that President Mugabe was a Zezuru and it followed that a Karanga should succeed him.
Introducing First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe at a function where she was assessing the impact of the drought caused by the El Nino phenomenon at Kanyemba Secondary School in Chiweshe, Mashonaland Central yesterday, VP Mphoko said people should not fool themselves thinking that the Presidency was up for grabs.
“There is nowhere in our Constitution where it is written that this country was liberated by a Karanga, a Ndau, a Zezuru or a Ndebele,” he said.
“What we hear now that President Mugabe is a Zezuru and if he steps down a Karanga should take over is not what we fought for. That is a Rhodesian mind. Don’t lose sleep over statements by some excitable people because there is nothing like that.
“We have party ideology and if you jump away from that you risk being hit by landmines out there. You will die, it’s your fault. Don’t say I have not warned you. So, let’s not fool ourselves thinking that the position of Presidency is up for grabs by everyone.
“Number two, being greedy and too ambitious makes you a bad subordinate. That is the first sin. You cannot separate greediness and some bad ambitions. Satan had a beautiful voice in the Bible, but he could not contend with his position. He wanted to take over God’s position and he fell down.”
VP Mphoko said he was happy with his post as Vice President.
He said by virtue of that position, out of 14 million people in Zimbabwe, he was number three after President Mugabe and his colleague Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Speaking at the same occasion, Zanu-PF national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere said the party would kick out all provincial chairpersons who defied directives.
He made reference to Mashonaland East, Masvingo and Midlands provinces.
“If you are a Zanu-PF member, do Zanu-PF things not to try and intimidate us,” he said. “We called for a rally in the presence of all provincial chairpersons that the President is coming. Some of you go to the President and say we were not informed – it’s Kasukuwere’s project. Pasi nemi. Ibvai pazvigaro izvozvo tange taneta nemi.
“Amai (First Lady) don’t be intimidated. Apa zvekuuya paMazowe makatakura magrenade forget it. Mashonaland Central will not accept it.
“We are going to die for President Mugabe. If it means we die for him, we must die for him. You make grenades with petrol and paraffin. Who do you want to threaten? As I speak right now, they are busy trying to raise money for bail for those criminals. Why are you doing that? If you defend President Mugabe why are you defending criminals?
“Who did you want to bomb? Who chose that target? Why do you go for the President? Amai, we need serious introspection. We don’t want to lie to each other. If you love the President, defend him.”
Kasukuwere said the younger generation was also prepared to die for President Mugabe’s cause.
“Amai, go and tell the President that war veterans fought for the liberation struggle, but also the younger generation is prepared to die for President Mugabe’s cause,” he said.
“We don’t support President Mugabe, but we believe in President Mugabe. If he forms a church today, we will follow him. We don’t want people who fool the President pretending to love him more. You are busy defending criminals who wanted to kill the President. We know who did it and we are not scared of you. Amai, Mashonaland Central we are here for you.
Kasukuwere was referring to the attempted bombing of the First Family’s Alpha Omega Dairy in Mazowe for which four people are already appearing in court with one having been convicted upon pleading guilty.
“Don’t threaten us,” he said. “There is no one who has title deeds for this country. We are tired of you, we are now removing gloves. Let’s go for the dry hands. Either you are behind Mugabe or get out of the party.
“Kana usingade pauri ipapo baya, pane ari kuda chair iyoyo.”
Kasukuwere said he was the only intelligence officer who entered the headquarters of Renamo leader Afonso Dhlakama, so people should not brag about their war credentials.”

Don’t Dis My Ability!

By Irene Sithole.|One of the challenges which continue to hinder people with disabilities from enjoying

Don't Dis My Ability
Don’t Dis My Ability

their rights is stigma and discrimination. The stigma and discrimination can be seen first and foremost in how people with disabilities are described by society. There seems to be always a debate in society on what term should be used to describe the condition of people with disabilities. The debate may be ongoing for ages as the terms and descriptive names are always changing. Being someone who is partially sighted, I have also been having an internal debate about what I and others in the same situation with me should be described. I was wondering whether I am a disabled person, a person with disability or a differently abled person.
On reflection, I did not dwell much on the term “disabled” because I agree with the school of thought which says that this term is disempowering. It describes people with disabilities as victims who are not able to do anything for themselves. While there are some people with disabilities who have an almost 100% dependency on others, the majority only require assistance on certain aspects of their day to day living. The international convention on disability uses the term persons with disabilities which I have modified to people with disabilities in this article. I will discuss this term “people with disabilities” after analyzing the term “differently abled”.
I was browsing on the internet the other day and on Yahoo Answers I came across some views posted by people with disabilities who came out strongly against the term “differently abled”. They expressed that the term has the same meaning as abnormal. English is not my first language but I find nothing in the English dictionary which equates different to abnormal or which says being different is bad. I will route for differently abled because I believe it is the term which aptly describes the skills of people with disabilities. People without disabilities in accordance with societal norms depend on their eyes for sight, hands for touching, feet for walking, the mouth for speech, etc. When I observe the people around me, I have concluded that they have “blind” hands. In other words when they want a certain object, they have to see it with their eyes first, then they reach out and touch it with their hands. I, on the other hand, because of my limited sight will reach out and locate the object with my hands. To me that means I can see with my hands. I have also seen on television some people who can write with their mouth or foot because they have no hands. Some of us with hands cannot do the same because we rely on our hands to hold the pen while we write. This unique use of some body organs to do things which they are not ordinarily used for is found in every area of disability one may think of. In my view that is being differently abled. It is having abilities which other people do not ordinarily have and it brings me back to the term “people with disabilities”.
It is clear from the above discussion that every individual has both abilities and disabilities. If you get incapacitated the moment someone switches off a light because you can only see with your eyes, is that not disability? If you have to hire someone to write or type for you because your hand is injured, is that not disability? There is therefore no need to call others people with disabilities as we all have disabilities. The important thing is to identify our abilities and use them for our benefit and the benefit of all humanity. This discussion is not exhaustive as there other terms which have not been discussed. There are other terms such as being challenged or impaired in certain areas. My mind is still processing those ones and hopefully one day I will be able to say whether I feel visually challenged or impaired. For now I will take the discussion to the vernacular arena.
While there are efforts to address stigma associated with labeling in the English language, the Zimbabwean society is not doing much about the vernacular. It is still common to hear someone publicly including on church pulpits referring to someone who cannot see with their eyes as “bofu” and someone who cannot walk as “chirema”. These Shona terms are derogatory as they make the differently abled people appear as objects and not human beings. I remember from my school days when we did classification of nouns that “chi” was class 7 and it referred to objects. I understand that the Ndebele term for the differently abled is “isilima” which is equally derogatory. No wonder the differently abled are still facing a lot of stigma and discrimination in our nation because the way they are referred to shows that they are not regarded as equal human beings entitled to dignity and the same rights as everyone else. If a differently abled person is a “chi” which translates to an “it” then he or she will not be send to school or be provided with decent clothing or any of the things that constitute as basic rights for a human being.
As a nation we still have a long way to go in recognizing persons with disabilities as equal human beings through our language because an “it” which is how a person with disabilities is referred to currently has no entitlement to human rights. Changing our language is part of changing our perception which will enable us to see the need to make facilities, basic utilities and technology accessible to people with disabilities for no other reason than that they are human beings and they need these things.

Magistrate : Sex With 15 Year Old Consensual

A security guard from Bulawayo has escaped rape charges and has been slapped with a $250 fine for having sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend twice.
Cleopas Rerwa, 33, was initially charged with rape but regional magistrate Chrispen Mberewere convicted him of sleeping with a minor.
“After considering evidence that has been brought to court so far, it’s clear that accused had consensual sex with the minor. The court therefore finds him not guilty of rape as alleged by the State but is convicted of a lesser charge, which is having sexual intercourse with a minor,” said magistrate Mberewere.
“You’re therefore ordered to pay a $250 fine or face imprisonment.” Prosecuting, Trust Muduma said the girl, who stays with her maternal aunt, accepted Rerwa’s love proposal in December last year.
“On January 4 at around 7PM, the girl went to Rerwa’s cottage in Parklands to ask for her cellphone charger. Rerwa asked her to come inside the cottage. He asked her to lie on the bed and locked the door,” said Muduma.
“He raped the girl once while covering her mouth to stifle her screams. The two slept in Rerwa’s room until about 3AM when the girl’s aunt came searching for her.”
Muduma said the girl got out of the room and went home with the aunt. He said she told her aunt that Rerwa had raped her.
“Two days after the incident, at around 9PM, the girl was at home washing dishes when Rerwa came and asked her to accompany him to his cottage,” Muduma said.
“When they got to his cottage, the girl undressed and slept with Rerwa on his bed.”
The court heard that two had sexual intercourse.
“At around 10PM, the girl went home and when her aunt asked where she was coming from, she told her that Rerwa had asked her to visit his cottage. The girl also told her aunt that she had intercourse with Rerwa,” said Muduma.
“The aunt called an elder sister in South Africa and notified her of the issue. She reported the matter to the police leading to Rerwa’s arrest and the girl was taken to hospital for medical examination.”

Fuming Grace Attacks Mutsvangwa

Grace Mugabe yesterday attacked War Veterans Minister Chris Mutsvangwa calling him a “despicable” man for claiming that Higher Education Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo’s father was in fact the late nationalist, Ndabaningi Sithole.
She said this without naming him, but giving away enough for her audience at a rally in Chiweshe, Mashonaland Central to know who she was referring to. The First Lady said Mutsvangwa thought of himself as a super war veteran who is above everyone else.
During a very public verbal war with Prof Moyo over the last month, Mutsvangwa first claimed the Tsholotsho North MP was Sithole’s nephew, and later revised his story to say he was in fact Sithole’s biological son.
Grace Mugabe said: “There’s nothing as despicable as insulting people by questioning their paternity. It’s not nice at all. What if we told you that the children you think are yours aren’t really yours?”

The First Lady said there had been a push in the party to tarnish Prof Moyo’s name so much so when she spoke at the Zanu-PF headquarters last Wednesday urging leaders not to insult each other, an official newspaper had reported the next day that she had warned Prof Moyo to stop abusing fellow Zanu-PF officials on social media where he is active on Twitter (@ProfJNMoyo).
“Jonathan, were you just shouting at people without provocation? Are you mad?” Grace said, turning to Prof Moyo. “Jonathan isn’t crazy that he would just start shouting at people. Such an intelligent person can’t be crazy. He shouts at those who shout at him.
“You then begin to see who’s controlling the paper. Some journalists are taking money to write these things.”
A push to ban Zanu PF officials from using social media came to grief at the Politburo last Wednesday after Prof Moyo and other officials said it was not just social media open to abuse but “all forms of media”, including newspapers.
Prof Moyo joined Twitter on February 9 last year after being appointed Zanu-PF’s secretary for science and technology. In the 12 months, he has gained nearly 46,000 followers — a phenomenal feat. Zimbabwe’s most followed Twitter accounts took longer to rack up such numbers — David Coltart’s current 50,000 were built up since December 2008, Trevor Ncube’s 46,000 since March 2009, Kirsty Coventry’s 41,000 since July 2010 and Saviour Kasukuwere’s 38,000 since April 2010.
Introducing Prof Moyo at the rally in Chiweshe yesterday, Kasukuwere — who is Zanu-PF’s national commissar — joked: “Twitter is his job. It’s part of his role as technology minister. We’ve some people who want to stop this man from going to work.” – state media

Prophet Anoints Woman’s Private Parts with Oil

anointing oilBy Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo|A self proclaimed prophet poured anointing oil on a Chipinge woman’s private parts saying he was exorcising demons.
Simbarashe Muhamba(24), appeared before Chiredzi Magistrate Tafadzwa Mhlanga facing charges of aggravated indecent assault. He was remanded in custody to next Tuesday after the court hearing last Friday.
The woman approached Muhamba at his shrine on February 3 to seek prophetic guidance in the company of two relatives Paul Mbaimbai and Melania Mbaimbai.
Upon arrival at the place Muhamba who is a member of the Kushinga Apostolic Church ordered the woman to return later with a white chicken, oil, and some milk.
The woman later returned around 9pm and Muhamba ordered her to follow him to a secluded place where he removed her blouse and rubbed anointing oil on her breasts. He proceeded to remove the woman’s underpants and poured anointing oil on her private parts.
At that moment the woman told Muhamba to stop the process but he continued to rub the oil until she eventually overpowered him and fled.
Muhamba claimed the anointing oil would exorcise demons tormenting her life.
Muhamba pleaded not guilty claiming he only touched the woman’s back. Such cases of women being abused while seeking prophetic advice are on the increase in Zimbabwe. Many women have been raped under the guise of deliverance. On the other hand self proclaimed prophets are also thriving on a wave of confusion sweeping across the country.

Caledonia Mining hedges 15,000oz of Gold

Canadian-listed Caledonia Mining, which owns Blanket Mine in Zimbabwe, on Thursday said it had sold forward 15,000 ounces of gold production under a six-month collar and cap arrangement.

Blanket-Mine
Blanket-Mine

Caledonia said the hedge arrangement, which set up the gold price between $1,050 per ounce and $1,080 per ounce would give it greater clarity over cashflows until July 2016 when production at its Blanket mine is expected to ramp up.
The mine has completed the first year of a six-year investment programme under which it intends to invest $70 million from 2015 to 2021 and increase production to approximately 80,000oz of gold annually by 2021. It said it now expects to spend $45 million in capital expenditure in the three years 2015 to 2017, lower than the $50 million envisaged when its revised investment plan was announced in October 2014.
“The hedge comprises a series of weekly contracts. If the gold price at the end of each contract falls below the collar value, Caledonia will receive the value of the shortfall below the collar multiplied by the hedged ounces,” said Caledonia in an update.
“If the gold price at the end of each contract falls between the cap and the collar value, Caledonia will pay to the hedge counterparty the excess over the collar value multiplied by the hedged ounces. If the gold price at the end of each contract exceeds the cap value, Caledonia will pay to the hedge counterparty the difference between the cap and the collar multiplied by the hedged ounces.”
The hedge arrangement is a financial instrument between Caledonia and a financial counterparty although Blanket will continue to sell its gold to Fidelity Printers and Refiners in Zimbabwe in accordance with local law.
Caledonia said it intends to maintain its existing dividend policy of paying 1.125 US cents per quarter.
The Canadian junior miner owns 49 percent of Blanket Mine, with the remainder held by locals.-The Source

Prophet Andrew Wutawunashe Speaks FULL TEXT

I am writing to you today a message from my heart which though painful is best that I write you . The purpose of this message is that you may know some important truths about my life which to the present date I thought best to keep private for the sake of the work that God has been doing in your and other people’s lives through me. During the past two or so years I have however prayerfully made decisions about my life and future which for the same reasons make it necessary for me to now appraise you  of my situation.

Well over ten years ago I and Dr R.F. Wutawunashe separated and stopped living as husband and wife. This was for reason of differences which because of who I am to you before God it would not be fair or right for me to make you the judge of . At that time I prayerfully decided that though I had come to this place of differences with her, our personal human differences should not be allowed to end the work which God was doing through me, and also through her. For this reason I continued to leave her free to pursue her calling to lift up women in the context of the African Revival. I continually sought the Lord in prayer for direction in my marital future.

In 2013 I increasingly felt that the direction God was giving me after years of prayer concerning this situation was to officially end my marriage . I received direction that the Lord would supernaturally bring Dr R. F. Wutawunashe to me and that I must minister to her and impart what God had put in me for her before this parting. This happened in July 2013 at the Botswana Convention . Among other things the Spirit indicated here that her ministry to women came not through me but direct from the Lord and would now spread not as an in house Family of God Church work, but as an independent ministry which would touch women across church, social and political lines. Some time after this event , I met her and made it clear to her that to my spiritual understanding, this event heralded our imminent and urgent official parting. I had also indicated that it would be best for her ministry to operate independently, which in any case it had been doing. It was during this season also that I saw clearly that my future involved a new marriage .

It is now imperative that you know that my marriage is coming to an official end after over ten years of separation, but without recrimination. I want you to know that in this entire period I strove to faithfully minister to you all that the Lord gave me for you, and that though this change has come to my life, I humbly desire to continue ministering to you all that God gives me for you. I also want you to know that as soon as it is legally permissible, I am persuaded that I should end the season of these past ten years or more by getting married sooner rather than later.

I ask your forgiveness that as a father I should fail you in this critical area of life. Yet, by the grace of God, I am also persuaded that it is best that I live and walk according to my realities,  in truth. I pray that after this knowledge of my state the Lord will help you to make the right decision, as is your right, concerning continuing with me. Yet I hasten to emphasise that I desire to continue ministering to your life as the Lord grants me grace.

Not surprisingly, there may  arise many versions and speculations, but I ask you that should there be in your circle sincere children of God, you share with them what I have said to you, for it is the truth.

God’s Servant for you
Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe

Hmmm, 15% VAT on imported food as hunger looms?

Dear Family and Friends,
They are selling cows in drought affected rural areas for as little as
50 US dollars a head. Normally villagers can expect to realize 300 –
400 US dollars for a cow but not this year. Things are so tough, money
so short and conditions so hard that in some areas people are selling
their cows because they can’t afford to keep them alive.
“Stock feed,” one man said to me in exclamation; “we can’t
even afford to feed ourselves, let alone the cattle.”
Sixteen years ago this month land invasions began in Zimbabwe. At the
time we were told they were “spontaneous demonstrations,” and as
unbelievable as it is, they are still going on today. For every day,
week, month and year that farm grabs continue, Zimbabwe remains in a
perilous place. We are no longer self sufficient in food and for the
last fifteen years have been importing at least eighty percent of our
food from South Africa, Zambia and further afield. In my grocery bag
this week the tea and eggs were local but the cereals, milk, cheese,
coffee, butter and cleaning products were all imported. The bread is
locally made but the majority of the ingredients used to produce it
are imported.
In the last fortnight there have again been new farm seizures and
evictions. Some make local and international news, others don’t, but
the result is the same: less food, less employment, less money in
pockets, less national income and for everyone involved: hunger,
homelessness and despair.
It is sickeningly ironic that at the same time as this is happening a
new 15% VAT duty on imported food has just come into effect. Imported
products subject to the new VAT include the most basic ingredients in
our shopping baskets such as : maize meal, flour, rice, cooking oil,
potatoes, margarine, eggs, fruits and vegetables. Depending on which
version of the propaganda you read the new tax on imported food is to
either generate more income tax revenue or to “protect local
industry from cheap imports.” Whatever the real reason for the new
VAT on imported food, it couldn’t come at a worse time for the 90%
of ordinary Zimbabweans who are unemployed and already struggling to
feed themselves and their families.
But don’t worry! The government of Zimbabwe have just launched a
national and international appeal for US$1.5 billion dollars to
support sectors affected by drought. Vice President Mnangagwa said the
most affected sectors are food and nutrition, agriculture, water,
education, health, and wildlife. According to a report in the
Financial Gazette, “Assistance can be in cash or food items
“palatable to the populations” and these include maize, mealie-meal,
small grains, flour, sugar beans and other legumes, dried fish and
various types of dried vegetables, powdered milk, peanut butter,
cooking oil, sugar, salt, maheu and baby formula.” Apparently grain
importation has the largest budget in the appeal with US $717 292 000
being needed. Hmmm, now what’s 15% VAT on 717 million US dollars
worth of imported grain? And hmmm again, aren’t most of the items on
the requested food aid list also subject to the new 15% VAT?
Until next time, thanks for reading, love cathy 12th February 2016.

Khupe Bedroom Dirt, slaps Tsvangirai Over Hlalo

khupe lovemore moyo
upstage…Thoko Khupe and Lovemore moyo

MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai under immense pressure to expel Senator Matson Hlalo has been pulled into a private ‘bedroom‘ corner by his vice Thokozani Khupe.
Khupe has allegedly ordered (the reputation survivor)Tsvangriai saying she will reveal his dirty past if he does not oust the Senator.
By Cleopas Ndlovu| Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) is at cross roads as he is failing to stamp authority on the faction led by his Vice President, Thokozani Khupe. For close to a decade,Khupe has been at the centre of problems rocking MDC-T.
In 2011 she was implicated in a post-Bulawayo Provincial congress as the main actor in influencing violence.
In 2015 Tsvangirai commissioned the Arbiter General to investigate the main cause of problems in Bulawayo party structures. Once again, the report went on to implicate Khupe. The two reports were swept under the carpet as Tsvangirai clearly fears Khupe for reasons better known by him.
Recently, Tsvangirai met party structures in Bulawayo and Harare. Like Bulawayo, Harare is affected by factionalism.
Bulawayo is burning with no signs for an end. Insiders report that last week a meeting was held in Bulawayo by Khupe, Secretary General, Douglas Mwonzora, Organising Secretary Abednigo Bhebhe, Gift Banda and Nomvula Mguni where all threatened to scandalise Tsvangirai by exposing his private life to the press if he failed to expel popular Senator Matson Hlalo.
Tsvangirai was told to explicitly put his terms and agreement with the Khupe faction on paper, but he refused to commit himself to writing. Instead, he opted to call for a National Executive meeting and National Council meeting where he intended to expel Senator Hlalo. To Khupe and Mwonzora’s shame the National Council did not deliberate on Hlalo’s fate in the party
To make matters worse yesterday Douglas Mwonzora acted on the word of Khupe to expel Senator Matson Hlalo. Insiders said letters have been sent to Hlalo, that purport to recall him from the Senate and expel him from the party. This is against the recommendations of the party’s National Executive Committee that both Hlalo and Banda be appointed to the party’s National Executive in order to solve the dispute amicably. Mwonzora is clearly serving factional interests in the MDC-T rather than being a neutral Secretary General. He disobeys Tsvangirai willy nilly. To make matters worse Tsvangirai is taking time to act and save the party from saboteurs in the Khupe faction.
The Khupe faction’s grand plan was to use Tsvangirai’s voice to silence those who would come out to defend Senator Hlalo.
This strategy is based on the assumption that most MDC cadres fear to oppose Tsvangirai as they will be branded “sell outs,” a term borrowed from the Zanu pf political dictionary, where whoever opposes Mugabe’s miscalculation is viewed as an enemy of the state. Fourth and fifth of February were days for the scheduled meetings where Tsvangirai was to be used to expel Senator Matson Hlalo. Tsvangirai would be expected to comply as he fears for the exposure of his private life.
In the meantime, it is claimed that donors are dangling money in the Khupe faction’s face asking them to put in place parallel structures. The parallel structures, it is claimed by Khupe’s followers, will be used in the grand plot to depose Tsvangirai in 2017. It is also claimed that the anti-Tsvangirai structures will be used to pass a Zanu PF style vote of no confidence in Tsvangirai.
A close source in the Khupe faction informed the paper that they will first boo Tsvangirai if he addresses party members in Bulawayo and then thereafter declare Matebeleland a no-go-area. It is said that they will then move to other areas.
Khupe is reported to have travelled to South Africa to source funds for her bootlickers who are expected to use violence to silence Hlalo’s  defenders.
Contacted for a comment, Khupe did not reply to messages and questions sent her.
