Wolves To Decide On Warriors Star Future

Wolves coach Gary O’Neil has admitted that Tawanda Chirewa may depart on loan this summer with the club yet to make a decision on his future.

The Warriors international’s breakthrough came in the previous season after making his senior debut against Brentford in the FA Cup.

He went on to became a regular in the senior matchday squads and registered 10 first-team appearances in total.

Speaking to English publication, Express and Star, O’Neil believes it will be a positive move for Chirewa if he leaves on loan since Wolves’ depth in attacking areas means the youngest may get limited game time.

“That’s still undecided,” the gaffer told the publication when asked if Chirewa will leave on loan.

“He has shown potential, but obviously we have more attacking players available at this moment than we did last year.

“Maybe it will be more difficult for him to push up, not to say it’s impossible but we will do what’s right for. him.”

Chirewa is currently with the senior team in USA for pre-season camp.

The forward was spotted wearing a much lower jersey number, 28, from his previous number 62 which he wore as an academy player in the senior squad.

Mnangagwa Regime Torments Ngarivhume

By A Correspondent

Jacob Ngarivhume, the leader of the opposition party Transform Zimbabwe, was arrested on Friday under controversial circumstances.

The arrest was confirmed by the party, which alleges that Ngarivhume was detained for his involvement in a meeting organized by Jameson Timba and his team.

According to Transform Zimbabwe, the charges against Ngarivhume stem from accusations that he was seen holding stones and allegedly confronting the police.

The party’s statement reads, “Hanzi vaiweko vakaonekwa wakabata matombo uchirwisa mapurisa,” which translates to claims that he was seen holding stones and resisting arrest.

Ngarivhume’s arrest comes amid rising tensions between the opposition and the government of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The opposition party views the arrest as a strategic move to suppress dissent and curtail political opposition.

The situation has raised concerns about the state of political freedoms and the government’s approach to handling political activists in Zimbabwe.

Kariba Lake Levels Drop Significantly Amidst Low Inflow

By A Correspondent

The Kariba Lake, a crucial reservoir for hydropower generation, is experiencing a notable decline in water levels due to persistently low inflow rates.

As of July 29, 2024, the lake’s water level stands at 477.04 meters, marking a significant drop from 479.69 meters on the same date in 2023.

This decline corresponds to a reduction in usable storage capacity, which has decreased from 29.56% to just 10.63% over the past year.

Designed to operate effectively between 475.50 meters and 488.50 meters, with an additional 0.70 meters reserved as freeboard, Kariba Lake is a critical resource for generating hydropower in the region.

The ongoing drop in water levels threatens the lake’s ability to maintain optimal hydropower generation, posing risks for energy supplies.

The reduced inflow has compounded concerns about the lake’s future operational stability and the broader implications for energy security. If the trend continues, it may necessitate adjustments in power generation strategies and increased efforts to address water management and conservation issues in the region.

Why Am I Not Getting Views on TikTok

Imagine putting in several hours to produce a video. After perfecting the choreography, adding the newest trending hashtags, and picking out the perfect music, you check back only to find zero views.

This can be quite frustrating. However, this feeling is not uncommon among TikTokers. It’s something that can take a big hit on your self-esteem and drive to create content and even make you question your own creativity.

Now, there are certain things you could do to handle this situation. But before that, it’s important to understand some possible reasons why you may not be getting views on TikTok. This article will discuss those reasons and offer effective methods to help improve your situation.

9 Reasons Why My TikTok Videos Aren’t Getting Views

1) Shadowbanned

Being shadowbanned is one of the most annoying reasons you’re not getting views. TikTok can limit your visibility without giving a notification about it. Primarily this occurs when people break community rules or participate in spam activities such as following and then unfollowing many users quickly.

In order to remove a shadowban, you should look into TikTok’s rules, stop using dubious hashtags, and make sure you follow community standards. You can also check your analytics to see if a sudden decrease in views is due to shadowban.

2) Lack of Video Engagements

TikTok uses an algorithm to decide which content should be promoted. If a video gets more likes, comments and shares, the algorithm will likely promote it further. But if your videos do not receive enough of these interactions, the algorithm might determine that there is no point in promoting them anymore. This could greatly restrict how many views you obtain.

You can interact with viewers, reply to their comments, do duets and react to their messages. However, the quickest way is to buy views from a reliable vendor. Having mentioned this, you can buy TikTok Views and Comments from Media Mister.

They claim to provide 100% real interaction which could increase your video visibility and also ensure a high retention rate. They have very secure payment choices, together with a money-back guarantee.

3) Poor Content Quality

There’s been a lot of debate on whether TikTok’s algorithm prioritizes quality or quantity. To settle the score, TikTok confirmed that it prioritizes high-quality videos on the FYP. So, if you want your videos to reach many people, you want to give them the good stuff.

Invest in basic equipment like a ring light and a decent microphone and camera. As a bonus, learn how to edit your videos and add transitions, effects, and music. That will help you make a TikTok video that people will want to watch and share with others.

4) Create Videos Under 15 Seconds

If your TikTok videos are too long, they might not get watched until the end, losing viewers’ interest. Making shorter videos that stay under 15 seconds can help keep people engaged and improve the rate at which users finish watching a video.

And as everyone understands, these two things make you likable by the algorithm. Shorter videos are more likely to be shared and played again, increasing your visibility. If your content is very long, divide it into several short videos. This will help keep viewers engaged and encourage them to come back another time.

5) Not Using the Right Hashtags

Hashtags are extremely important if you want to be found by your target audience on TikTok. Not using enough or unrelated hashtags may restrict your exposure. With that in mind, do your research and identify hashtags that are currently popular and specific to your content’s niche.

For your video, use hashtags that are popular but not too competitive. That will improve the possibility of your videos being discovered by the right audience. You can also make a unique hashtag for your brand. This helps build up your online presence. And finally, don’t forget to update your hashtag strategy and align it with the trends happening around you.

6) Inconsistent Publishing

If you post videos occasionally, it might be difficult for you to attract and keep followers. So, set a posting schedule that works for you and follow it consistently. Regularly updating your content helps maintain your viewer’s interest and shows the algorithm that your account is active.

Being consistent can also greatly enhance the probability of gaining more views over time and going viral on TikTok. If you are uncertain about being online every day, take advantage of TikTok’s scheduling features to plan posts in advance.

That makes sure there’s always new content coming up. Posting on a regular basis assists in maintaining interest from viewers and anticipation for subsequent videos.

7) Using Duplicate Content

TikTok appreciates uniqueness and innovation. Posting the same content or reusing videos from other platforms without alterations can result in lesser interaction. Ensure that each video you upload is special and adjusted to suit TikTok’s style and viewership.

Creating and editing videos with TikTok’s own tools can add a touch of originality and charm. Unique content is more likely to be shared or highlighted by the algorithm. Do not simply repost your old videos without introducing something fresh or new. Fresh, innovative content is key to keeping your audience engaged and attracting new viewers.

8) TikTok’s Algorithm Changes

TikTok’s algorithm is always changing, and this is something else that could have an effect on how many views your video receives. It’s very important to stay informed about such changes to keep up with the view count.

You can check the announcements from TikTok’s official page and participate in creator communities to know more about algorithm updates. Follow the trends and algorithm preferences, adjusting your content strategy to match.

Remain flexible and responsive to these changes in order to maintain and increase your audience. Continuously check analytics and try out different types of content regularly to stay ahead of algorithm shifts.

9) You’re Not Using Analytics

TikTok provides a range of analytics tools that can assist in comprehending the success of your videos. You will receive details about watch time, viewership demographics, and active periods, among other data points.

Studying this data helps you recognize what works and what doesn’t work so that you can improve your content creation strategy. For instance, if analytics reveal that your audience interacts better with shorter, you can concentrate on producing exactly that.

Likewise, recognizing the periods when your followers are most involved will help you post at ideal times to increase visibility. Consistently examining and modifying your strategy according to statistics is crucial for enhancing performance on TikTok.

Conclusion

Not receiving views on TikTok is a frustrating experience. But by understanding the causes behind this problem, you can make necessary changes to improve your visibility. Taking steps to address these concerns may help increase your views. Just make sure you maintain your creativity and persistence and you’ll eventually achieve your goals.

Mnangagwa Bans Musical Shows?

By Political Reporter- The government has said that it has not banned or prohibited public gatherings due to the forthcoming SADC Summit set for this month.

In a statement Friday, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, speaking on the reports, said:
“This is false. The public should dismiss this false information with the contempt it deserves. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police implores the public to observe the country’s laws whilst conducting various activities in order to assist in the maintenance of law and order.” Opposition functionaries have leapt into life in recent weeks, making a number of false statements, including posting pictures from other countries suggesting torture. Other posts claim that people are being abducted, which is a traditional script played by the opposition ahead of major international events. There have also been false claims that all shops would be forced to close at 5pm during the SADC period.

South Africa’s DA Party Wants SADC Summit Venue Moved From Zimbabwe

By A Correspondent| South Africa’s Democratic Alliance (DA) party has urged the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, to exercise South Africa’s rights as a member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and demand that the upcoming 44th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for August 17, 2024, in Harare, Zimbabwe, be relocated to another venue.

The call comes amidst growing concerns over state-sponsored repression in Zimbabwe.

According to the DA, recent reports have highlighted a severe clampdown on pro-democracy activists by the ruling ZANU-PF regime.

The DA claims that this crackdown stems from the regime’s fear of public protests ahead of the summit.

The SADC’s founding treaty emphasizes the commitment of member states to uphold “human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.”

The DA argues that the ZANU-PF government has consistently violated these principles with impunity, especially in the run-up to the summit.

Notable among these incidents is the detention of Jameson Timba, an opposition politician, along with 77 other opposition activists. The group has reportedly been held in dire conditions and repeatedly denied bail after being arrested for allegedly holding an ‘unauthorised political meeting.’

Additionally, four democracy activists were recently removed from a plane at Robert Mugabe International Airport and charged with disorderly conduct for participating in a protest demanding the release of the detained activists, who have been in pre-trial detention for over six weeks.

The DA contends that the Zimbabwean government’s use of state machinery to suppress dissent illustrates its willingness to flout the law to maintain its authoritarian rule.

The party argues that South Africa and the broader SADC community have a responsibility to hold the Zimbabwean government accountable for its actions. The DA asserts that allowing the summit to proceed as planned would not only endorse ZANU-PF’s disregard for international law but also undermine the core principles upon which SADC was founded.

The DA further expressed concern over President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s upcoming chairmanship of the SADC, viewing it as a sign of the regional leaders’ failure to hold the Zimbabwean leadership accountable.

The party believes that South Africa, as a prominent SADC member, must take decisive action to uphold international law and advocate for the summit to be relocated to a location that respects democratic values.

This move, according to the DA, would send a clear message that South Africa and SADC will not tolerate the suppression of democratic freedoms in the region.

Tshabangu Caught Offside

By A Correspondent

Recent comments by Tshabangu, the interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and a notable figure aligned with the Zanu PF party, have ignited widespread outrage among the public.

Tshabangu’s call for a crackdown on protesters, particularly ahead of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit scheduled for Harare this August, has drawn sharp criticism from various quarters.

In his statement, Tshabangu urged law enforcement agencies to address “any element of anarchy” and ensure that anyone deemed criminally liable is dealt with accordingly, regardless of their political affiliation.

His emphasis on maintaining peace during the high-profile SADC Summit was accompanied by a stern warning against disturbances, highlighting the government’s intent to manage dissent firmly.

The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson is set to take over the SADC chairmanship this August.

The call for stringent measures has been met with significant backlash from citizens and opposition groups.

Critics argue that Tshabangu’s stance undermines the right to peaceful assembly and expression, essential elements of a democratic society.

They contend that his comments reflect a broader tendency to suppress dissent rather than address legitimate grievances through dialogue and reform.

The public’s anger underscores a growing frustration with the perceived intolerance for opposition and dissent in the country.

Many view Tshabangu’s remarks as a signal of increasing governmental pressure on civil liberties, particularly in the context of political events that are already under intense scrutiny.

As the SADC meeting approaches, the debate over the balance between maintaining order and respecting democratic freedoms continues to intensify.

Tshabangu’s comments have certainly added a new dimension to this discourse, further polarizing public opinion and raising questions about the future of political expression in the country.

Chamisa Gives Zanu PF Hardliners Torrid Time

By A Correspondent

In a disturbing development in Zimbabwe’s political landscape, a group associated with the ruling Zanu PF party has issued a stark and alarming threat against opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.

The threat, made by individuals running the Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page, has stirred significant concern and outrage among supporters and observers.

On Thursday, the page posted a slogan that has historically been associated with severe political violence.

The phrase “Pasi lo Chamisa labalandeli bakhe pasi,” which translates to “Down with Chamisa and his supporters, down,” has been condemned as a thinly veiled call for violence.

This type of rhetoric, laden with ominous implications, recalls a troubling period in Zimbabwe’s political history, where such slogans were used to justify harsh measures against political adversaries.

Operation Restore Legacy, a group known for its staunch support of Zanu PF and its controversial methods, has previously been involved in orchestrating campaigns to bolster the ruling party’s grip on power.

The Facebook page in question has been a platform for pro-Zanu PF sentiments, but this recent post escalates the situation to a dangerous level, suggesting an intent to intimidate or harm Chamisa and his followers.

Nelson Chamisa, leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has been a prominent critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration, advocating for democratic reforms and an end to corruption. His vocal opposition has made him a target of hostility from various quarters within the ruling party.

The threat from the Varakashi, Zanu PF’s notorious militia known for their aggressive tactics, adds a new dimension to the risks faced by Chamisa and his supporters.

The reaction to the threat has been swift and condemning.

Human rights organizations and opposition leaders have called for immediate action to ensure the safety of Chamisa and his team. There are demands for the government to denounce the threat publicly and take steps to protect political figures from such violent intimidation.

In response, Zanu PF has yet to issue a formal statement regarding the threat. However, the incident underscores the volatile nature of Zimbabwe’s political environment, where rhetoric can quickly translate into real-world violence.

The situation remains tense, with many calling for heightened vigilance and stronger safeguards to protect democratic processes and political dissent in the country.

SA Govt Relocate SADC Summit To Stop ED From Abducting Chamisa Activists

By A Correspondent | Cape Town, August 2, 2024 – The Democratic Alliance (DA) has called on South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, to urgently request the relocation of the upcoming 44th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for August 17, 2024, in Harare, Zimbabwe. The DA’s appeal follows numerous reports of state-sponsored crackdowns on pro-democracy activists by the ZANU-PF regime.

In a press statement, the DA highlighted that Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU-PF, has launched yet another wave of oppression against opposition and pro-democracy activists, fearing public protests ahead of the summit. This crackdown reportedly includes the detention of Jameson Timba, an opposition politician, along with 77 other activists. These individuals are allegedly being held in appalling conditions and have been repeatedly denied bail after being arrested for participating in what the regime termed an “unauthorized political meeting.”

The DA’s statement also mentions a recent incident at Robert Mugabe International Airport, where four democracy activists were forcibly removed from a plane and charged with disorderly conduct for protesting the prolonged detention of the 77 opposition members, who have been in pre-trial detention for over six weeks.

The DA emphasizes that the Southern African Development Community (SADC) founding treaty mandates member states to uphold principles of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. The party argues that ZANU-PF’s actions are in blatant violation of these principles and that allowing the summit to proceed in Harare would effectively endorse ZANU-PF’s abuses and undermine the core values of the SADC.

“By abusing state machinery to violate the rights of Zimbabweans, the unrepentant ZANU-PF regime has demonstrated that it is prepared to go to any lengths to violate the law in order to entrench its authoritarian rule,” the DA stated. The party called on South Africa, as a leading SADC member, to take a firm stand and advocate for relocating the summit to a venue that upholds democratic values.

The DA also criticized the upcoming SADC chairmanship of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, describing it as a testament to the failure of regional leaders to hold “political thugs” accountable.

The DA concluded by asserting that relocating the summit would send a clear message that South Africa and the SADC will not tolerate the suppression of democratic freedoms in the region.

The money changers lock their doors while processing the transaction, and open the window to hand back the bank cards and foreign currency to clients.

Bulawayo Denounces Mnangagwa

By Political Reporter- Citizens in Bulawayo have taken to the streets in protest over the arrest of 78 Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members, demanding their immediate release.

Social media posts show hundreds of citizens marching and calling for the rule of law to prevail in Zimbabwe.

The protesters are also urging the forthcoming Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit to address the issue of the allegedly stolen 2023 polls.

These protests follow the arrest of Kariba Member of Parliament John Houghton and 13 others in Mashonaland West on Friday.

They were detained for staging a peaceful demonstration against the continued incarceration of CCC faction leader Jameson Timba and 77 other party activists.

Former CCC deputy spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba, confirmed the arrests, stating, “13 activists, including Honourable John Houghton, former Mayor George Masendu, Farai Mageva, and others, have been arrested for peacefully protesting with placards demanding the release of Honourable Timba and others. They are currently detained at Kariba Police Headquarters. This is Zimbabwe under Mnangagwa. The constitution has been suspended! The fight is on. Homeland or death!”

The arrest of the CCC activists in Kariba comes as the government intensifies its crackdown on dissent, seemingly to prevent potential protests that could disrupt the upcoming 44th SADC Summit scheduled to be held in Harare on August 17.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights said, “14 Kariba residents, who are detained at Kariba Police Station, have been charged with contravening section 37 of the Criminal Code by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and are accused of participating in a gathering with intent to cause public violence.

ZRP officers allege that the 14 participated in an unsanctioned protest, holding placards demanding the release of CCC political party leader Jameson Timba and other Harare residents, who were arrested and detained in June.”

Timba and the CCC activists were arrested on June 16, 2024, while commemorating the Day of the African Child in Harare.

They face charges of participating in a gathering with the intent to promote public violence, breaches of peace or bigotry, and disorderly conduct.

The High Court upheld the decision on July 17, leaving the detainees languishing in prolonged pretrial detention at Harare’s Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.

A magistrate court on June 27 denied them bail on the grounds that the detainees were likely to commit similar offences if released.

Last week, police raided and disrupted a Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) meeting attended by over 60 students at the ZESA Training Centre in Belvedere, Harare.

They are currently detained at Kariba Police Headquarters. This is Zimbabwe under Mnangagwa. The constitution has been suspended! The fight is on. Homeland or death!

The arrest of the CCC activists in Kariba on Wednesday comes as the government has intensified its crackdown against dissent, which appears to be an attempt to prevent any potential protests that could disrupt the upcoming 44th SADC Summit scheduled to be held in Harare on August 17.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights said:

14 Kariba residents, who are detained at Kariba Police Station, have been charged with contravening section 37 of Criminal Code by ZRP and they are accused of participating in a gathering with intent to cause public violence.

ZRP officers allege that the 14 participated in an unsanctioned protest holding some placards inscribed with messages demanding the release of CCC political party leader Jameson Timba and other Harare residents, who were arrested and detained in June.

Timba and the CCC activists were arrested on 16 June 2024 while commemorating the Day of the African Child in Harare.

Last week, police raided and disrupted a ZINASU meeting which had been attended by over 60 students at the ZESA Training Centre in Belvedere, Harare.

Jacob Ngarivhume Detained Amid ZRP’s Denial of Resource Misuse Allegations

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – August 2, 2024 – In a surprising turn of events, Jacob Ngarivhume, President of Transform Zimbabwe, was reportedly detained at his residence by unknown individuals driving an unmarked Toyota FORTUNER GD6. This incident has sparked widespread concern and speculation among the public and political observers.

The detention occurred on the same day that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) issued a press statement vehemently denying allegations circulating on social media that the government had banned public gatherings ahead of the upcoming Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit. The ZRP dismissed these claims as false and urged the public to disregard them.

The ZRP’s press statement, signed by Commissioner Nyathi P., Chief Staff Officer of Press and Public Relations, emphasized the importance of observing the country’s laws and maintaining order. The statement reads: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police dismisses social media postings alleging that the Government of Zimbabwe has banned or prohibited public gatherings due to the forthcoming Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit. This is false. The public should dismiss this false information with the contempt it deserves.”

The timing of Ngarivhume’s detention has raised eyebrows, especially in light of the ZRP’s recent denial of abusing their resources. Critics and supporters alike are demanding transparency and accountability from the authorities.

As the situation develops, the public and political entities await further information regarding Ngarivhume’s whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his detention.

Tshabangu Triggers Public Anger After Calling for Crackdown on Protesters

Harare, Zimbabwe – August 1, 2024

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | The whereabouts of Jeremiah Kanjanga, commonly known as Jerry, have remained unknown since his sudden disappearance in 2018. His last known public activity was a contentious accusation against popular socialite Felistas Murata, also known as Mai Titi, claiming she had infected him with an undisclosed disease.

Kanjanga’s disappearance has sparked fears that he may have been killed at a residence in Marlborough, Harare. This speculation has gained traction following recent social media activity and the resurgence of public interest in his case. Just three days ago, Mai Titi was confronted by a group of women spearheading the hashtag campaign, “Jerry aripi wakamuitei?” (“Where is Jerry, what did you do to him?”).

Prior to his disappearance, Mai Titi had launched several accusations against Kanjanga, including allegations of laptop theft and hacking Facebook accounts. These charges intensified the animosity between the two, culminating in the public altercation over the disease accusation.

Missing…Jerry Kanjanga

Notably, Kanjanga’s Facebook account, which hosted his accusations against Mai Titi, vanished from the internet soon after he was declared missing. This development has further fueled rumors and speculation regarding his fate.

A significant piece of evidence that may shed light on the mystery is Mai Titi’s last message about Kanjanga, posted on August 11, 2018. The message reads:

“I’m calling upon everyone who is looking for this guy. Jeremiah Kanjanga, the guy in a gray jacket with a pink tie in the picture. Everyone who has had their laptops stolen, pages hacked, fake chats created, or money stolen through Bitcoin by this man, as well as anyone who has worked with him and had their bank accounts hacked, should come forward. Anyone who has ever been blackmailed by this guy and is looking for him, please come through.

All those who have messaged me, call me and I will lead you to him. We found him and he has been coming to court with his brothers. My laptops were stolen, and he was ordered to return the money. He was sentenced to community service but I am not done yet with him. He must answer for the fake page issue.

Don’t be deceived by his looks; this guy is an international criminal owning six SIM cards from different countries yet he has never been to any of them. He can hack your WhatsApp and read everything on your phone while you are online. He can create fake chats and more. Never trust him with your laptop. He lies that he has a TV station and targets people with fame and business people. Many have invested in this guy and never got anything. He steals hard-earned money claiming it’s for investments. Some conmen you will never believe until you experience it yourself.

Warning to all: Get in touch, we now know where to find him.”

The resurfacing of this post has ignited public curiosity and concern over Kanjanga’s fate. As authorities continue to investigate, the community remains on edge, seeking answers to the enduring question: Do you know happened to Jerry Kanjanga? Contact ZimEye.

Updates will follow as more information becomes available.

Shock As Zanu PF Varakashi Publicly Threaten To Kill Nelson Chamisa

Mutsvangwa Jailed For Unlawful Entry

A Harare man, Nelson Mutsvangwa (39) was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months imprisonment by a Harare Magistrate on 9 counts of unlawful entry in aggravating circumstance.

The accused person targetted office premises around the Central Business District and stole computers and accessories.

In one incident which occurred on the 20th of May 2024, he was caught in the act by the complainant. He gained entry into the office using duplicate keys.

He had packed 3 lenovo laptops and was on his way out when he was caught. A police report was made leading to his arrest.

Wiwa Confronts Mnangagwa Over Torture of Human Rights Activists

Fiery opposition politician Job Wiwa Sikhala has strongly condemned the torture of human rights activists in the country, asserting that such acts cannot suppress the will of the people.

In a statement released on Thursday, Sikhala criticized the regime’s use of torture as a means to silence dissent.

He emphasized that this approach, as evidenced by the reported detention and mistreatment of activists including @robohchere, @namataik_, @cdegwenzi, and Vusimuzi Moyo, is a dangerous gamble for the regime.

Sikhala warned that oppressive regimes often fail to recognize the inevitable backlash from such actions.

He urged supporters of the regime to heed the wisdom of Malcolm X, who warned against the use of violence and repression to control dissent.

See statement below :

“The danger that faces many oppressive regimes is their failure to read the message on the wall. Using torture as an instrument to subdue dissenting voice like what is reportedly done to @robohchere, who was kept in communicado by regime agents yesterday together with @namataik_ , @cdegwenzi, Vusimuzi Moyo is the most dangerous gamble the regime can play with.

I urge regime enablers to carefully listen to the free advice given to such behaviour by Malcolm X.”

Bishop Arrested On False-Accusation of Violence Incitement During SADC Summit

“They arrived at 10am,” they said.

“They look him to Harare Central [Police Station],” the ZimEye source added.

The Officer Commanding Police Harare Central District, Chief Superintendent G. Moyo, announced this week that the event date conflicts with the 44th SADC Summit, which is set to take place in Harare.

Veld Fire Engulfs Harare East, Disrupts Traffic and Raises Concerns

By A Correspondent| A devastating veld fire swept through the Harare East area of Msasa today leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake. The blaze, which occurred near the N Richards and Feruka oil depot, sent thick smoke billowing into the air, severely impacting car traffic and raising concerns among local residents.

The veld fire, which is believed to have started in the late morning, quickly spread due to strong winds and dry vegetation. Firefighters and emergency services rushed to the scene, but their efforts were hindered by the intensity of the blaze and limited access to water.

As the smoke engulfed the area, car traffic came to a standstill. Motorists were forced to navigate through thick, choking smoke, reducing visibility to almost zero. Many drivers abandoned their vehicles, seeking shelter from the hazardous conditions.

The proximity of the fire to the Feruka oil depot and other nearby fuel storage facilities raised concerns about potential explosions and environmental hazards. Authorities scrambled to contain the situation, but the risk of catastrophic consequences remained high.

Local residents, businesses, Emergency services and firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control, but the full extent of the damage is still unknown.

Sikhala, Ngarivhume Blast Mnangagwa

Herald story titled “Government to Take Firm Action Against Instigators of Violence” is Rubbish:

31 July 2024

PRESS RELEASE

BY Job Sikhala : National Democratic Working Group (NDWG) &
Jacob Ngarivhume : Transform Zimbabwe (TZ)

We the undersigned leaders of Transform Zimbabwe (TZ) political party and the Chairman and Facilitator of the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG) a broad based civic movement, demand an apology and withdrawal of the false story published by the Herald of today Wednesday the 31st of July 2024 to the effect that we have been sponsored by Oppenheimers funded Brenthurst Foundation and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to lead demonstrations against the illegitimate Zanupf regime in Harare.

The story imputed that the National Democratic Working Group and Transform Zimbabwe in association with the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU), are organising demonstrations to destabilise Zimbabwe during the SADC Summit when Zimbabwe will assume the chairmanship.

The first thing we realised is that there are no any sources that the Herald got the rubbish story from, except paranoid and frightened looters sitting at Munhumutapa Building. It’s all the hallucinations they pass out as authentic news.

Their sources are illusionary and desperate failures who are seeking to cover their intentions and desperation to arrest us and our members. We know what the regime does when it wants to arrest its opponents. They plant their lies in the Herald and run with it as a fact and hype nonsense to get its opponents arrested.

We challenge them to produce the evidence of their lies, failure of which we shall take drastic legal action to rectify these lies. We are not organizations of empty threats. We follow every word we say with legal action.

If we want to lead a demonstration within the confines and permissible parameters of our constitution, we won’t hide about it. We will openly pronounce it. The Herald story is some load of illusions and paranoia.

We have instructed our lawyers to demand that the Herald retracts its lies or we seek redress in the courts of law

Signed……. Job Sikhala : National Democratic Working Group (NDWG)

Tshabangu Claims Credit For Sikhala Release From Jail

By A Correspondent

In a recent outburst, Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, the interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has made a provocative claim regarding Job Sikhala’s recent release from prison.

Tshabangu, known for his enigmatic and controversial statements, has alleged that he played a pivotal role in securing Sikhala’s freedom, but his public praise has quickly turned into sharp criticism.

On Wednesday, Tshabangu expressed his frustration over Sikhala’s behavior following his release.

He described Sikhala as an “unrepentant politician” who has failed to show the maturity and gratitude expected after his release.

Tshabangu revealed his disillusionment with Sikhala’s conduct, accusing him of becoming “too big-headed” and expressing his belief that Sikhala’s arrogance will ultimately lead to his downfall.

In his statement, Tshabangu said, “When I negotiated his release from prison, I thought he’d change his character and act like a mature politician.

But now he’s becoming too big-headed, so I’ll leave him to play his ball but I know he’s bound to fail. @JobSikhala1 has totally betrayed me, but politics will humble him.”

Tshabangu’s remarks reflect the strained relationship between the two prominent political figures and highlight the often tumultuous nature of Zimbabwean politics.

As tensions escalate, the broader political implications of this rift remain to be seen, with Tshabangu’s criticism likely to influence perceptions of both his own role in the release and Sikhala’s future in the political arena.

Abducted Activists Found, Badly Tortured by Regime Agents

Former Citizens Coalition for Change spokesperson Gift Ostallos Siziba has issued an urgent update regarding the whereabouts and condition of four activists: Samuel Gwenzi, Namatai Kwekweza, Vusumizi Moyo, and Robson Chere.

Siziba reported on Thursday that these individuals were brutally tortured and had their phones seized by regime agents at the airport.

They have since been dumped at Harare Central Police Station.

Siziba emphasized that the activists are receiving immediate medical attention from deployed teams, including lawyers and medical professionals.

He condemned the regime’s actions as evidence of their cruelty and sadistic behavior. “No one deserves to be tortured for holding a different political view,” Siziba stated.

This incident highlights the ongoing struggle for a political environment where citizens are protected rather than persecuted.

Siziba reaffirmed the commitment to fighting for a state that safeguards its people, underscoring their determination with the rallying cry, “Homeland or death!”

VIDEO: Emmerson Mnangagwa Installs Street Lights in Harare After 24 Years of Sabotage

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has finally conducted the installation of street lights in Harare’s Central Business District (CBD) after a prolonged period of actively instructing party supporters to destroy them. This development marks a significant shift in policy and approach from the ZANU PF leader, who had previously opposed such infrastructure improvements due to their association with the opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).

https://x.com/heraldzimbabwe/status/1818838449946083631?s=46

For over two decades, Mnangagwa had maintained a hardline stance against MDC-led initiatives, explicitly directing ZANU PF supporters to undermine service delivery efforts. “An MDC councillor, it doesn’t matter which MDC, all the programs must be destroyed, must die at Harvest House, they must not get to government, because they’re not in ZANU PF,” Mnangagwa is heard saying in footage spanning from 1999 to 2023. “I am issuing you these instructions, to make sure all service delivery is killed at Harvest House,” he added in another recording from the same period.

https://x.com/heraldzimbabwe/status/1818838449946083631?s=46

Fast forward to August 2024, and the state-owned Herald newspaper made a startling announcement: “Part of Kwame Nkrumah Avenue in Harare CBD [has been] lit with newly installed street lights.” This unexpected move has sparked a wave of reactions across the political spectrum and among the general public.

In a contrasting approach to service delivery, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has been vocal about his commitment to maintaining and improving infrastructure. During a recent visit from the outgoing president of Kenya, Ramaphosa emphasized the importance of stable governance and efficient service delivery. “I did say to President Kenyatta that his timing for visiting South Africa is really poor; he should have come on the 1st Nov; as a good friend I know he would have voted for us, so now we have lost, we didn’t have his vote,” Ramaphosa quipped.

Reflecting on the recent electoral setbacks faced by his party, the African National Congress (ANC), Ramaphosa continued, “This is the footsteps if you like of democracy, and we have seen it play out throughout the country, and indeed as president of the governing party, it is disappointing for the African National Congress; but that is how we should accept the clear message of our people on the African National Congress. We have taken heed, we have listened, and this for us is a big setback but it is also a big lesson and we are a party that learns very quickly.”

Ramaphosa further stressed the importance of stable local governance: “And we are going to go to the drawing board, we are going to reflect on all these setbacks, and all we want to see speaking now as president of the Republic I would like to see stability in our local government sector, that whatever coalitions have been formed and are being formed, will result in stable local government, that we don’t have instability and collapse of local govt, and motions of no confidence to a point where service delivery will not be given to the people of a country.”

In his closing remarks, Ramaphosa congratulated those who emerged victorious in the local elections, particularly noting the rise of female metro-mayors. “It behoves well for the State of the Republic of South Africa and we wish those councillors who’ve been elected the very best and may all continue to work well for the people of various communities,” he concluded.

As Zimbabweans come to terms with the newfound illumination of their capital city, the implications of this shift in Mnangagwa’s policy remain to be seen. The installation of street lights, long overdue, might signal a change in the government’s approach to public service and infrastructure, potentially heralding a new era for Harare and its residents.

Mike Chimombe Speaks On New Corruption Case

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Affirmative Action Group President and Zanu PF member Harare Mike Chimombe is denying fresh charges of fraudulently obtaining a tender to rehabilitate street lights in Harare.

Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, who are already on remand, were back in court this Thursday in a fresh case where they are being accused of acquiring a tender to install street lights in Harare through fraudulent means.

Chimombe, through his lawyers, is challenging to be placed on remand by submitting that he has no case to answer.

The court will make a ruling this Friday on whether Chimombe will be placed on remand or not, while his co-accused Mpofu, has indicated that he is not opposing being placed on remand.

Chimombe and Mpofu allegedly used false documents to secure a Harare City Council tender to rehabilitate street lights in May this year.

The fraud accused businessmen allegedly misrepresented their company’s compliance with public procurement regulations by resubmitting a previously used receipt, despite being disqualified in an earlier bid.
The court heard that through misrepresentation and falsified documents, the duo’s Juluka Enndo Joint Venture company was allegedly awarded the tender. ZBC

Jerry Kanjanga Went Missing Soon After Clashing With Mai Titi

Mnangagwa Re-hires Xenophobic Minister

By Political Reporter- The Emmerson Mnangagwa-led administration has re-hired the xenophobic Bubi MP who was fired from the post of Deputy Higher minister, Simelisizwe Sibanda.

Sibanda was fired last month after demanding the transfer of an early childhood development (ECD) teacher, Winnet Mharadze, from Clonmore Primary School in Bubi Constituency, allegedly for not being proficient in the local language, Ndebele.

He had gone to donate uniforms to learners at the school, 55 km out of Bulawayo, off Harare Road near Gloag High School on June 24, 2024.

During a meeting attended by teachers, parents and hundreds of learners, Sibanda asked Mharadze why she was in Matabeleland and tested her by asking her what “uqethu” is.

Uqethu is a Ndebele word for grass.

In a statement issued this Wednesday,  Mnangagwa’s Secretary, Martin Rushwaya, said the appointment is effective immediately.

Reads the statement:

Following representations, profuse apologies and undertakings to refrain from similar misdemeanours in future, His Excellency the President, Cde. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has decided that Hon. Simelisizwe Sibanda be pardoned.

Accordingly, His Excellency the President, Cde. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has in terms of subsection 2 of Section 104 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, appointed Hon. Simelisizwe Sibanda M.P. as the Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development.

The appointment is with immediate effect.

Learn How To Catch Fish First, Not How To Cook Fish…

By Dr Barnabas Marambire

I was invited to a certain event to speak, and I gave my life experience as a testimony, how I grew up as an orphan under very tough circumstances.

However, I shared how determination, focus, Hardworking and God’s love had sustained me to become successful.

After the event, we did a small talk and interacted, exchange numbers, the usual thing that people do after an event.

Normally, after such encouragement, I would hope to receive more inquiries on how one can start a business, link to certain opportunities or engagement on pursuing business ventures, unfortunately I received a couple of financial requests. It’s a huge turnoff for me.

People don’t care about learning how to catch a fish. They just want fish.

People don’t care much to learn how to make money. They just want money.

If we keep that mentality as Africans, then we are very far from liberating ourselves financially.

They were brutally tortured and had their phones seized by regime agents at the airport. The four have been dumped at Harare Central Police Station.

Our lawyers and medical teams have been deployed to provide urgent attention.

This incident exposes the regime’s cruelty and sadistic behavior.

No one deserves to be tortured on account of holding a different view with the political elite in the country.

This is the reason why we’re fighting, for a state that protects its own citizens.

Tshabangu Slams Sikhala: “Unrepentant and Ungrateful”

Sikhala Dismisses Government Threats To Crush Protests

Jacob Ngarivhume : Transform Zimbabwe (TZ).

New Zealand Based Zimbabwean Man Faces 30 Charges Of Sexual Assault

A Zimbabwean man, John Hope Muchirahondo, is standing trial in the Christchurch High Court, New Zealand, facing over 30 charges related to sexual assault.

The charges include 22 counts of sexual violation by rape, nine of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, and one charge of not providing access to a cell phone. The alleged incidents occurred between 2009 and 2021.

Muchirahondo is accused of sexually assaulting 15 women, many of whom he met at parties or while out in social settings.

Crown prosecutor William Taffs described how Muchirahondo allegedly took advantage of the women when they were intoxicated, some to the point of vomiting or losing consciousness.

In several cases, the women were unaware of the sexual activity until police showed them videos and images.

Taffs reported that some women woke up to find Muchirahondo engaging in sexual acts with them or going in and out of consciousness.

The prosecutor emphasized that some complainants knew Muchirahondo personally and for some time, with allegations that they were pressured or forced into sexual encounters. Taffs argued that Muchirahondo took advantage of these women’s bodies without their consent or concern.

Defence lawyer Anselm Williams presented Muchirahondo’s background, noting that he moved to New Zealand from Zimbabwe in 2008 and comes from a large family with 31 siblings.

Williams argued that Muchirahondo’s defense is based on the claim that he did not commit rape or sexual assault.

In some instances, Muchirahondo acknowledged having sexual encounters with the complainants but maintained that he believed there was consent or a reasonable belief in consent.

The court heard emotional testimony from the first woman to file a complaint in 2021, who described waking up to Muchirahondo assaulting her.

She expressed distress and fear of her family’s reaction, particularly her mother’s, to the incident.

The trial is ongoing.

Mnangagwa Renews Crackdown Against Pro-Democracy Campaigners

By A Correspondent| Zimbabwean authorities yesterday forcibly ejected four pro-democracy campaigners from a plane, which they had boarded in Harare and held them in incommunicado detention for several hours.

The four pro-democracy campaigners namely Namatai Kwekweza, the leader of WeLead Trust, Robson Chere, the Secretary-General of Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ), Samuel Gwenzi, a former Councillor for Harare Ward 5 and Vusumuzi Moyo, were ejected by some unidentified people  from an aircraft at Robert Mugabe International Airport, where they intended to travel to Victoria Falls and attend the 5th African Philanthropic Conference, which is an annual gathering of civil society policy influencers and other stakeholders, which is currently underway in the resort town.

Human rights lawyers from Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) unsuccessfully tried to get access to Kwekweza, Chere, Gwenzi and Moyo after they requested for legal assistance and were held in incommunicado detention for about eight hours before their legal practitioners eventually located them.

Chere sustained some injuries after he was tortured by the captors, who reportedly used some planks and iron roads to torture him.

The quartet, who are represented by Kelvin KabayaJeremiah Bamu and Tinashe Chinopfukutwa of ZLHR, was detained overnight at Harare Central Police Station and were charged with disorderly conduct with Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers alleging that they participated in an unsanctioned demonstration held at Harare Magistrates Court in June, where they protested against the detention of Citizens Coalition for Change political party leader Jameson Timba and some of the opposition party members and demanding their release from prison.

Meanwhile, in Kariba in Mashonaland West province, ZRP officers on Wednesday 31 July 2024 arrested 14 residents including John Roland Houghton, a former legislator for Kariba constituency, on yet to be ascertained charges.

Cultivating Change: How Modern Gardening Techniques Can Revolutionize Small-Scale Farming in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe relies heavily on small-scale farming as the backbone of its national economy. Modern gardening techniques offer promising avenues for increasing productivity and sustainability in agriculture. This article explores how these innovative practices can be tailored to local contexts to empower small-scale farmers, increase yields, conserve resources, and build resilience against climate variability.

Understanding Soil Health

  • Revitalizing Soil Naturally: One of the critical challenges Zimbabwean farmers face is maintaining soil fertility without excessively relying on chemical fertilizers. Techniques like crop rotation and green manures can enrich soil. Planting legumes like beans between vegetable harvests can add nitrogen back into the ground, improving its fertility for the next planting season.
  • Effective Water Management: Organic matter added to the soil can significantly improve water retention, making this practice particularly useful in regions with scarce freshwater supplies. Composting can be an invaluable asset when it comes to improving both the structure of the soil and moisture retention.

Innovative Planting Strategies

  • Intercropping involves growing two or more crops for mutually beneficial results, such as pest control and pollination improvements. For instance, planting maize alongside cowpeas can deter pests while simultaneously taking advantage of their nitrogen fixation.
  • Raised Beds and Mulching: Raised beds and mulching provide another effective strategy. Raised beds maintain loose soil conditions for improved root development and drainage, which is essential during Zimbabwe’s heavy rains. Mulching with organic materials such as straw or grass clippings helps control weeds while retaining soil moisture and regulating temperature.

Pest and Disease Management on an Ecosystem Level

  • Natural Predators: Fostering beneficial insects by planting diverse crops is one way to control pest populations naturally. Ladybugs, in particular, prey upon aphids, which are common problems in vegetable gardens.
  • Barrier Methods and Biological Therapies: Neat fencing or row covers can physically protect crops from pests. Natural fungicides such as neem oil can prevent diseases without harming the ecosystem.

Drip Irrigation for Sustainable Water Usage

This system delivers water directly to plant roots, minimizing waste and optimizing usage efficiently. Unlike traditional methods, drip irrigation can cut water usage by up to 50% when applied in drought-prone regions.

  • Rainwater Harvesting: Collecting rainwater during the wet season in storage tanks allows an additional source of irrigation water during dry months, saving both resources and reducing dependence on unreliable supplies. This practice not only conserves water but also ensures sustainability.
  • Farmer Field Schools: These groups allow farmers to learn from each other and experts through field demonstrations and discussions, sharing knowledge on modern gardening techniques adapted to local conditions.
  • Judetean Digital Platforms for Farmers: Mobile apps and online forums provide real-time advice and support. Farmers can use weather forecasts, pest outbreak alerts, and market prices to plan and make decisions.

Diversifying Crops With High-Value Plants

  • Exploring Medicinal Plants: In regions where it’s legally permissible, growing medicinal plants like marijuana can be highly profitable. Understanding how to grow marijuana responsibly and effectively can open up new markets for farmers. It involves specific techniques regarding soil composition, spacing, and controlled environments that can maximize yield and quality.
  • Market Opportunities and Legal Considerations: Before cultivating marijuana, farmers must familiarize themselves with the legal framework in Zimbabwe. This ensures compliance with local laws and regulations. Additionally, exploring market demand and potential buyers is essential for successful cultivation and sales.

Conclusion

Adopting modern gardening techniques in Zimbabwe’s small-scale farming sector can substantially increase productivity and environmental sustainability. By prioritizing soil health, innovative planting strategies, integrated pest management, and efficient water use as critical areas, farmers can transform their practices to be more resilient and productive—thus offering Zimbabwean agriculture a greener, more fruitful future for its farmers.

Nelson Chamisa Sends Strong Warning to ED

By Tinashe Sambiri

In a recent statement, Nelson Chamisa, the prominent Zimbabwean opposition leader and advocate for democratic reform, issued a pointed warning to the current president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, underscoring the ongoing struggle for democracy in Zimbabwe.

Chamisa, known for his unwavering stance against the prevailing regime, made his remarks on Tuesday, highlighting what he perceives as the shortcomings of Mnangagwa’s administration.

“A cheated and betrayed man who is recalibrating and rebuilding himself is a dangerous man,” Chamisa asserted, implying that Mnangagwa’s desperation could lead to further instability or harsh measures.

The opposition leader did not mince words about the dire conditions under which political leadership operates in Zimbabwe.

He criticized the challenges of managing a political party within the confines of a dictatorship, emphasizing the severe constraints imposed by a lack of resources and the pervasive poverty affecting the nation.

“It’s not easy to lead and run a political party in a dictatorship, especially without a budget and in an environment of extreme poverty,” Chamisa stated.

He further elaborated on the difficulty of addressing these challenges amidst high unemployment rates, where some public officials may conflate their roles with mere employment.

Chamisa acknowledged the immense difficulties but remained resolute in his call for change.

“What an impossible task!! But then to serve is to sacrifice.

Change must happen. The job will get done!” he concluded, reflecting his commitment to continuing the fight for democratic reforms despite the harsh realities of the political landscape.

Chamisa’s statements highlight his enduring commitment to challenging the status quo and advocating for a more democratic and equitable Zimbabwe, even in the face of significant obstacles.

Mnangagwa In Secret Meeting With SWAPO Officials

By A Correspondent

On Tuesday morning, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa hosted a high-profile delegation from Namibia’s ruling party, SWAPO, at State House.

The meeting, which included SWAPO Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa and ZANU-PF Secretary General Obert Mpofu, has sparked concerns about potential election rigging in Namibia.

The SWAPO delegation’s visit was described as a gesture of camaraderie and mutual support, aimed at exchanging insights and strategies between the two ruling parties as Namibia gears up for its upcoming elections later this year.

The interaction between the two parties raised eyebrows given the controversial nature of Zimbabwe’s own electoral processes and the historical context of ZANU-PF’s governance.

Following the meeting, Shaningwa and her team toured the National Heroes Acre and the Museum of African Liberation, where Shaningwa participated in a symbolic gesture by watering the Namibian tree, underscoring the historical and cultural ties between the two nations.

The timing and nature of the visit have fueled fears that the meeting could be a precursor to attempts at influencing or interfering with Namibia’s electoral process.

Critics worry that the exchange of notes between the ruling parties might involve sharing tactics that could affect the integrity of Namibia’s democratic process.

The speculation comes amid ongoing concerns about election transparency and fairness in various African countries, where ruling parties sometimes seek to extend their influence beyond national borders.

As Namibia prepares for its elections, the international community and local observers will be closely watching for any signs of external interference.

Brazilian Wonderkid Gets Cursed Shirt

By Denis Orito

Endrick, the promising young talent, has been assigned the number 16 jersey for his first season at Real Madrid. This number, however, carries a notorious reputation for misfortune over the past decade at the club.

The tale of the number 16’s supposed curse began in the 2010-2011 season with:

  1. Sergio Canales – Acquired from Racing Santander, Canales wore the number 16 but had a brief and underwhelming stint. He appeared in just 15 matches, failed to score, and departed after one season.
  2. Hamit Altintop – The Turkish midfielder joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2011 and also wore the number 16. He managed only 12 appearances and scored once before returning to Galatasaray the following summer.
  3. Casemiro – In the 2013-2014 season, the young Brazilian switched from the number 38 to 16. Despite showing potential, he played 25 games with only one assist and was loaned out to Porto after a year.
  4. Lucas Silva – The Brazilian midfielder, who wore the number 16 briefly, was another player who didn’t live up to expectations. He left on loan to Marseille after just eight months.
  5. Mateo Kovacic – The Croatian seemed poised to break the curse, staying for two seasons. However, he did not become a standout player and eventually moved to Chelsea for more regular playing time.
  6. James Rodríguez – Upon returning from his loan at Bayern Munich, James wore the number 16. He struggled with consistent playing time and left for Everton after a year.
  7. Borja Mayoral – The Spanish forward, back from a loan at Levante, wore the number 16 but featured in only two La Liga matches before moving to Roma.
  8. Luka Jovic – The Serbian striker was the most expensive of the lot, joining from Frankfurt for 60 million euros. Unfortunately, he scored only three La Liga goals across three seasons before joining Fiorentina on a free transfer in 2022.

As Endrick takes on the number 16 jersey, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see if he can defy the jersey’s ominous legacy.

New Warriors Coach Michael Nees Outlines Vision for National Team

In an interview with ZIFA Media, Nees emphasized that while Zimbabwe boasts a pool of talented players, there is a need to enhance their performance to reach new heights. “I am a modern and innovative coach, focused on international challenges and capable of thinking outside the box to gain a competitive edge,” Nees said.

He acknowledged the Warriors’ potential but stressed the importance of avoiding predictability to secure qualifications for the FIFA World Cup and the African Cup of Nations. “I am confident in achieving these goals due to my expertise in enhancing key performance factors and making impactful changes swiftly.”

Nees committed to guiding the national team with dedication and professionalism, aiming to create a winning squad that will make Zimbabwe proud. His first challenge will come in early September with the start of the 2025 Afcon Qualifiers Group J. The Warriors will kick off their campaign

Mnangagwa Terror Campaign Leader Dies Of BP

Mike Chimombe & Moses Mpofu Re-arrested On Fresh Charges

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Affirmative Action Group leader Mike Chimombe and his business partner Moses Mpofu have been re-arrested on new corruption charges.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed the arrest of Chimombe and Mpofu for falsifying business documents to secure a streetlighting tender with the Harare City Council.

This comes on the heels of their previous incarceration over fraud charges related to a botched goat supply tender granted to them by the government.

The two businessmen have been languishing in prison for several weeks now for charges related to the PresidentialPresidential Goat Pass-on Scheme.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, 31 July, ZACC confirmed the fresh charges levelled against the two. ZACC said:

i

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Juluka Enndo Joint Venture officials Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe on allegations of corruptly using false documents.

Mpofu and Chimombe allegedly submitted false documents while applying for a Harare City Council tender to rehabilitate street lights.

Allegations are that sometime in May 2024, Harare City Council readvertised a tender for two lots to fix street lights.

Responding to the advert, Mpofu and Chimombe acting for Juluka Enndo Joint Venture misrepresented that they were compliant with the provisions of Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets General Regulations by resubmitting a receipt which they had used in an earlier bid in which their company had been disqualified.

The accused also allegedly submitted a financial report claiming it was audited by a consultancy company whichinvestigations have revealed is not registered.

They allegedly further misrepresented that they had undertaken similar work for City of Harare and were experienced in the area of street lights installations.

Juluka Enddo was awarded a tender on the basis of falsified information.

According to the statement, Mpofu and Chimombe were scheduled to appear at Harare Magistrate court today, Wednesday 31 July 2024.

Chimombe and Mpofu’s woes started when they accused Wicknell Chivayo, who is close to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, of fraudulently changing their contract with South African company Ren-Form and Better Brands to supply voting material to ZEC in the run-up to the 2023 general elections.

Chimombe and Mpofu are also suspected to have leaked Chivayo’s voice notes in which he claimed to have captured Mnangagwa and also appeared to finger several high-ranking government officials in the ZEC scam.

In June, Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) chairperson Michael Reza announced that the agency has compiled a robust case against Chivayo, Chimombe, and Mpofu, concerning allegations of money laundering and abuse of office.

The contrasting fates of the various individuals accused of corruption in Zimbabwe have raised concerns about the impartiality and effectiveness of the country’s anti-graft initiatives.

On one hand, business partners Chimombe and

Mpofu have been languishing in jail for over a month due to fraud charges related to a botched goat supply tender.

However, the case of Chivayo presents a stark contrast. Despite also facing corruption allegations, Chivayo remains free, without any apparent threat of arrest.

It’s Malicious Politics for Lungu To Lie About “Secret” Constitutional Amendment Processes

By Mark Simuuwe | It is naive and malicious for someone like former President Edgar Lungu to claim that President Hakainde Hichilema has initiated amendments to the constitution secretly.

It is cheap politics for ECL to make such claims on unofficial matters.

Mark Simuuwe

Edgar Lungu should not be so desperate to seek attention and say things that have no basis and no substance to the national agenda as a way of winning political mileage .

A man who has ruled the country before must speak to official information from government not hearsay or unofficial information .

The office of the President uses official channels to communicate to the public and not hearsay. Anything not yet published is never official.

We expect a high level of correspondence from a former head of state not baselesss social media inuendos .

The 2016 Constitution which ECL wants to praise himself for was started by President Micheal Sata and was completed at consultation level before ECL became President. ECL simply grabbed the document to have it presented to parliament and enacted. ECL never allowed for a good law making process during his time . He endeavoured to make sure bad laws were made .

The problem is that Mr Lungu thinks President HICHILEMA reasons the same way the former did on Bill 10 and the Public Order Act, in which he aimed at destroying the country’s democracy by raping the constitution of Zambia amendment no.2 of 2016.

If at all there will be any need to amend the constitution, there will be an official announcement and the process shall be guided by the principles of the rule of law and inclusivity and not the old PF lopsided approach to constitutional amendments.

Citizens may recall that the said Bill 10 process under ECL was marred with corruption of some members of parliament from the opposition and some civil society organizations that went round the country to try to force and deceive citizens to accept a dirty document, by the Patriotic Front(PF) government in order to stop political opponents from contesting elections.

Fortunately, citizens and well-meaning civil society, rose up to the occasion and stopped ECL’s impunity.

ECL’s government influenced and ensured that bad laws were made. Laws which were meant for the opposition like the Cyber Security and Cyber Crime Act, which are now haunting Edgar Lungu. Many of you may have heard Edgar Lungu complaining that some people are being arrested for expressing hate on social media today. This is the Cyber Law that ECL initiated and praised until it was enacted by his MPs.

As many citizens may recall, alongside the 2016 amendments, ECL and his administration earlier attempted to amend the Bill of Rights without inclusivity and this sparked a serious national debate which saw some civil society activists arrested. ECL further pursued to destroy the media space by attempting to influence a process of PF aligned civil society organizations at his time to commence a process of regulating journalists, which process collapsed when the UPND came into power.

Citizens have not forgotten how ECL and his MPs maliciously spearheaded a movement to destroy our democracy as such, it is not only malicious and deceptive for him to publish hearsay, but a sign of being irresponsible by someone who is supposed to be a former head of state .

Citizens must overlook this level of desperation.

Another Chinese Miner Caught Abusing Workers

By Business Reporter- Another local Chinese mining company is being accused of abusing workers.

Chang Sino-Africa Mining Investments, also known as Indarama Mine, has come under fire for treating its workers under dehumanizing conditions, posing significant health risks to the community while reaping substantial profits from its mining activities.

Located on the outskirts of Kwekwe, the company’s management is accused of cutting off electricity and safe water supplies to the mining compound.

Workers and their dependents have been forced to rely on unsafe water drawn from the mine shaft, leading to serious health hazards.

Some workers report living in makeshift shacks without ablution facilities for over three years and claim they lack protective clothing.

“As I am speaking to you, I might wake up jobless, but some of the things here cannot continue unchallenged. We are being treated like animals in our own country by these guys. The JoJo tank draws water from the mine shaft, and we are supposed to drink it. We have had serious cases of diarrhea, and we suspect a cholera outbreak here,” said one worker.

“Working at this place has become a nightmare, but sometimes we have no other options. I have been staying in this shack since I joined the company three months ago, and there is no improvement. There are no toilets, and we have to use the bush. I really hope the government intervenes to improve our living conditions,” added another worker.

Another worker shared, “It feels like we are waiting to die here. Our situation worsens daily. We have tried to engage management, but those who speak out are quickly shown the exit door.”

Ming-Chang Sino-Africa Mining Investments must consider the welfare of its workers and the local community. It is unacceptable for workers to live under deplorable conditions, including overcrowding and limited access to decent housing, ablution, and medical facilities. All workers, whether skilled, semi-skilled, or casual, have their rights at work that should be respected. Failure to provide safety clothing and the ill-treatment of workers is unacceptable in the Second Republic,” said Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister, Owen Ncube.

The mining company’s directors claimed they were unaware of the conditions at the mine.

“As an investment firm, we believe in taking care of our workers at all times. As the chairman stated, we will conduct internal investigations, and those found guilty will be fired. Some issues raised can be corrected quickly, and we will restore electricity and water for the miners,” noted Ming-Chang Sino-Africa Mining Investments spokesperson, Mr. Eric Yan Bo.

Ming-Chang Sino-Africa Mining Investments, which officially took over operations at Indarama Mine in 2021, is currently mining and processing gold and antimony through heap leaching activities, among others.

Fears of Massive Rigging as Mnangagwa Meets SWAPO Delegation Ahead of Polls In Namibia

Varakashi Reject New Warriors Coach Amid Racial Controversy

By A Correspondent

A racial storm has erupted in Zimbabwe following a controversial decision by ZANU-PF hardliners, known as Varakashi, to reject the appointment of Michael Nees as the new head coach of the Zimbabwe National football team.

The reaction has sparked significant debate and concern over racial tensions in the country.

On Tuesday, the Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page, a platform run by ZANU-PF hardliners, posted a statement that has since drawn widespread criticism.

The post read: “President varikuti Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo, vamwe busy kutipa Mubhunu.”

Translated, this roughly means, “The President says the country is built by its own people, while others are busy giving us a white man.”

The comment reflects discontent among some factions within the party about the appointment of Nees, who is white.

This sentiment appears to challenge the decision to appoint a foreign coach, suggesting a preference for local representation in key national roles.

The reaction from the Varakashi group has been met with criticism from various quarters, including those who argue that merit and qualifications should be the primary criteria for such appointments, rather than racial background. Nees, known for his extensive experience and track record in football coaching, was brought in with the aim of revitalizing the national team.

The incident underscores ongoing racial and political tensions within Zimbabwe, where debates about national identity and representation continue to be sensitive and contentious.

As the country navigates these challenges, the focus will likely remain on how such issues are addressed by both the government and the broader public.

Stop This Nonsense, Chamisa Tells Mnangagwa As He Denounces Persecution Of Political Activists

By Tinashe Sambiri

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has strongly condemned the ongoing persecution of political activists under the Zanu PF regime.

His remarks come amid escalating concerns over human rights violations in Zimbabwe.

In a forthright statement released on Wednesday, Chamisa criticized the government’s oppressive tactics, declaring:

“ZIMBABWE IS THE SICKNESS OF SADC… The toxic and oppressive politics that have taken root in Zimbabwe are deeply damaging to the nation’s image.

Among the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and across the continent, Zimbabwe stands out—not for progress, but for its egregious record of political intolerance and repression.

This situation is profoundly embarrassing and must end immediately. We cannot allow this shameful behavior to continue.

I demand the release of all political prisoners now. The international community must hold those responsible accountable. @SADC_News @DIRCO_ZA @CNN @BBCAfrica @SABCNews @eNCA.”

Chamisa’s statement underscores the growing frustration within Zimbabwe and among the international community regarding the regime’s disregard for democratic norms and human rights.

Endrick Receives ‘Cursed’ Jersey Number 16 at Real Madrid

Chamisa Prepares For Massive Comeback

Mnangagwa Was Never Elected SADC Chairperson

Munyaradzi Mugomeza

By Munyaradzi Mugomeza| To say I was shocked would be an understatement.

I was dumbfounded. In fact, I was filled with indescribable revulsion!

I came across a video of an address by an unnamed ruling ZANU PF official to a group of rural villagers.

In his little speech, he glorified President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa as a hero for being elected the chairman of the SADC (Southern African Development Community).

He disingenuously portrayed this as some form of electoral victory over other regional leaders.

As a matter of fact, in his unrestrained excitement, he went to great lengths trying to convince these poor villagers that from the 17th August 2024 – when Zimbabwe assumes the SADC chairmanship – Mnangagwa would have some authority and power over other regional leaders.

In other words, the ZANU PF official wanted everyone listening to believe that Mnangagwa would be in the mould of a ‘president of all southern African presidents’!

I was floored!

Tragically, such brazen deception and blatant lies are, by far, not an isolated incident.

One just needs to turn onto the state-controlled broadcaster ZBC to see the depths to which those in power in Zimbabwe are prepared to sink.

There are now endless jingles praising Mnangagwa for assuming the SADC chairmanship.

As with the repulsive lies spewed by the ZANU PF official, the jingles, by various local musicians, are clearly designed to create a false impression and understanding of the SADC chairmanship.

The lies are quite frankly shameless and disgusting – and a huge embarrassment for Zimbabwe.

Let me set the record straight – hopefully, once and for all.

For starters, Mnangagwa was NEVER elected as the chairman of the SADC.

Zimbabwe, as a country and member state of the SADC, was the one ‘elected’ as chairman.

The chairman of the SADC is ‘elected’ by the organization’s member states during the annual SADC Summit.

Here is how the process typically works.

The position of the SADC chair rotates annually among the member states.

This means that each member state has the opportunity to chair the organization over time.

In other words, chairmanship is not bestowed as recognition for phenomenon leadership.

It is rotated amongst all member states.

Even had Satan himself been the president of Zimbabwe, he (or the country) would have still assumed the chair when its turn arrived.
1.
The ‘election’ takes place during the annual SADC Summit, where the heads of state and government of the member countries meet to discuss regional issues.

The ‘election’ is usually based on consensus among the member states rather than a competitive vote.

In other words, the ‘election’ is more of a ‘selection’ – as there is no voting  between competing countries, such that there is a winner or loser.

This ‘election’ process is not in the same format as the one where, for instance, Mnangagwa competes against Nelson Chamisa.

The member state ‘elected’ to the chairmanship is generally the country next in line based on the rotational schedule.

As such, the country that becomes the SADC chair is never chosen on merit or any other criteria – but purely on a rotational basis.

This rotational system ensures that all member states have an equal opportunity to influence the direction and focus of the organization over time.

Last year, when Zimbabwe became the vice chairman of SADC, it automatically meant that this year, the country would take over the chairmanship.

There was never any competition with any other country.

Let us look at the second lie: that Mnangagwa now has some authority over the whole southern African region, as some sort of ‘president of presidents’.

By assuming the SADC chairmanship, Mnangagwa (or, more accurately, Zimbabwe) does not hold any authority or power over other regional countries.

The chair serves a one-year term, from one SADC Summit to the next.

During their tenure, the chairman is merely responsible for hosting the Summit and other key meetings and for guiding the agenda and priorities of SADC.

That’s it!

As can be clearly seen, the chairman’s primary function is exactly as the title denotes… to simply chair meetings and guide the agenda (which is generally a collective process).

This is exactly what Mnangagwa will be doing on 17th August.

This position does not come with any other significant authority.

It is not as if Mnangagwa, as the SADC chairman, will now be giving orders to South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa or Zambia’s Hakainde Hichilema, for instance.

In fact, this lack of real authority on the part of the SADC chairman speaks to the broader lack of authority of the entire SADC as an institution.

That is why – even after a damning report by the SEOM (SADC Election Observer Mission) on Zimbabwe’s 2023 shambolic elections – the body did absolutely nothing.

This is because the organization is merely a talk shop with no real authority or power over any member state – even when flagged by the regional body’s own organs, as the SEOM, for conducting elections that fall short of regional principles and guidelines governing democratic elections.

No wonder why the report on Zimbabwe is now gathering dust at the SADC Secretariat in Gaborone, Botswana.

In simpler terms, SADC is a toothless bulldog.

Zimbabwe’s chairmanship will just be ceremonial.

This is because SADC heads of state do not want or are rather afraid of a powerful SADC.

Most of the regional leaders are fully aware that they are far from being democratic.

As such, they will never want any supra state entity that will hold them to account for any misgovernance and violation of human rights or democratic tenets.

When the regional body experimented with an organ that had real teeth – the SADC Tribunal – this did not end well.

The SADC Tribunal was eventually disbanded in 2011 after the regional court held that the Zimbabwean government’s land seizures in the early 2000s violated the rule of law.

As such, SADC heads of state are more than comfortable with a useless organization.

How can the chairman of a toothless organization then have teeth?

Mnangagwa’s role for the next one year will be to merely call for and chair meetings – just as the chair of your local neighbourhood watch committee!

In conclusion, I urge ZANU PF and the Mnangagwa government to stop lying to the people of Zimbabwe over this SADC issue.

They are not only embarrassing themselves but also their own leader, Mnangagwa, and the country as a whole.

We all know that Mnangagwa has failed to achieve anything of substance during his tenure as the President of Zimbabwe.

However, that should not be a reason for lying over this assumption of the SADC chair by Zimbabwe.

It is clear that they want to finally give Mnangagwa the accomplishment that has eluded him all this time.

Man Stabs Wife To Death

Police in Lusulu have arrested Pondai Nyoni, 43, in connection with a murder that occurred on July 28, 2024, at around 3:00 a.m. in Siamputeni 2 Village, Magedhi.

Nyoni allegedly struck the victim, Albert Nyoni, 32, multiple times on the head with an axe, resulting in his death at the scene.
