Innscor Africa Limited has been taken to court on allegations of selling expired pies at its Chicken Inn Exor Complex in Masvingo.
Masvingo magistrate Langton Ndokera on Tuesday heard that Patrick Timothy, a health inspector with the Masvingo City Council visited the branch following numerous complaints from the public.
Timothy found 20 boxes containing 30 pies each, which had no date of minimum durability in terms of the Health Act.
The pies were taken to a government laboratory which tested them and found them unfit for human consumption.
Emmanuel Katsvamutima, a marketing manager of Bakers Inn, which is responsible for Bakers Inn pies in Masvingo Region denied the charges that the company had contravened sections of the Public Health Act.
The trial will continue on 21 July- Pindula News
