MDC Alliance Secretary General Charlton Hwende has been further remanded to the 28th of July in his treason case.

Posting on Twitter after appearing before Harare Magistrates Court today, Hwende said his arrest and subsequent appearance at the courts are normal political birth pains warning that they will defend themselves against Zanu PF and former allies in Dr Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora.

“I have appeared before the Magistrate Court in Harare facing Charges of Treason. I have been remanded to the 28th of July. These are normal political birth pains. The people struggle and Party will be defended and Zanupf and sellouts defeated,” said Hwende.

Hwende was arrested in 2019 January following violent protests that were instigated by fuel price increases.
