Windfall For MPs, Councillors As Gvnt Review Sitting Allowances By Between 50 To 100%
By A Correspondent- Government has reviewed upwards the sitting allowances paid to Members of Parliament and councillors in the country’s 32 local authorities as well as provincial council members by between 50 and 100%.
MPs will have their allowances hiked by 100%, while provincial council members and councillors were awarded a 75% and 50% increase, respectively. The windfall will be backdated to January last year.
Local Government minister July Moyo confirmed the increment, which, however, falls way short of what the councillors and MPs have been demanding since 2019.
Moyo said he had already written to councils advising them of the development.
“We have three elected levels consisting of MPs, those in provincial councils and local authorities,” Moyo said.
“The President approved new rates for MPs, councillors and provincial council members.
“The levels of allowances are as follows: 50% for councillors, 75% for provincial council and 100% for MPs.”
In 2019, councillors and mayors around the country engaged the central government, demanding an increase in their allowances by at least 250%, citing the rise in prices of basic goods and services.
Government later approved an increase, which will see each councillor getting $5 000 from $2 000. In back pay, each councillor will pocket not less than $26 000 (US$260). According to a letter written by their umbrella association, the Urban Councils Association of Zimbabwe (Ucaz), the Local Government minister informed them through a circular of the review of their allowances.
The letter, written on January 15, was signed off by Ucaz president Josiah Makombe (Gweru mayor) and copied to Moyo and all town clerks and secretaries.
It reads: “Reference is made to the address by the Honourable Minister of Local Government, Cde July Moyo, during the 79th AGM (annual general meeting) held on December 13, 2020 at the Elephant Hills Hotel.
“He pointed out that councillors should be paid levels of allowances set out at various levels based on percentages that are paid to members of parliament. Councils need not wait for another circular as long as they have obtained reliable information on the adjustment to the salaries of MPs.
“It is against this background that the presidential committee at its meeting on January 13 2021 resolved to recommend that councillors be paid their outstanding allowances backdated from January to October 2020.
“Councils must effect the latest adjustment from December 2020 in line with the increase in allowances for Members of Parliament which is at a rate of $47 002.
“May councils implement the councillors’ allowances to the letter and spirit of circular 13 without further delay and prejudice to council’s welfare,” Makombe said.-Newsday
Man Survives Poisoning By A Whisker
By A Correspondent- There is a thin line between love and hate, a Kadoma man can attest to this adage after his young wife of four years allegedly laced his cup of tea with poison intending to end his life.
Francis Khondanani escaped death by a whisker after his 24-year-old wife Tanyaradzwa Denhere served him with a cup of poisoned tea.
Tanyaradzwa packed her bags after the incident and is now on the run.
Police in Kadoma have since launched an investigation of suspected food poisoning under case number 4547203 and have sent Mr Khondanani for a medical examination. This serves to confirm that the above presented to us with a sample of tea. He suspects it might have been tempered with in an attempt to poison him.
Unfortunately, we do not have the laboratory capacity to analyse the tea. We have suggested that the sample be taken to a private laboratory for analysis, reads part of a letter addressed to ZRP Kadoma from Kadoma General Hospital.
Khondanani said he was now on the road to recovery and had been examined by doctors in Harare. I have been to Harare for medical checks and I am getting better though I have not fully recovered yet.
The doctors are currently examining a sample of the tea I drank that day ,so we are waiting for results, but meanwhile, I have opened a case at Kadoma Central Police station.
Francis narrated his heartwrenching ordeal at the hands of his beloved wife and mother of their child saying:
I don’t know what came over Mai Noku. We have been together for four years and God blessed us with a daughter Nokutenda.
We were always happy, and recently we toured the country’s resorts from Nyanga, Kariba and even Bulawayo because that’s what she loved. I took her places and she really looked happy to me.
On Saturday 23 January, she said she was not feeling well in the morning. She literally fell into my arms and looked pale and was shivering and she asked me to hold her because she felt sick. She really looked scared and when I asked her she said ‘hana yangu iri kurova’. She insisted she was okay but I had to make sure she sat down until she felt better.
I later left the house without taking breakfast and told her I would eat during lunchtime but upon coming back I was shocked to find her busy with the house chores. I asked how she was feeling and she said she was very fit. She offered me a cup of tea and I took it before leaving for work.
When I was about to leave, Mai Noku akandimhanyira akati asi munonyara kukisser mukadzi wenyu here? I smiled back ndikati ‘no ndinonyarei zvangu’ then she came closer to me and I kissed her cheek. This was the first time she did something like that but handina kuzviisa mumusoro. She stood by the gate waving at me kusvika mota yaenda,” he said.
It did not take much time before I started having stomach cramps, by this time I had reached the office. I thought it was something minor but it got worse and I postponed my 2pm meeting.
I had to drink two litres of fresh milk trying to vomit but it didn’t change. Ndaingorutsa mukaka wegawega and drove back home. I couldn’t walk straight the pain was severe and sharp.
When I got home I found Mai Noku gone, all her clothes were not there. I had a running stomach and I am sure that saved me. I later managed to go to the hospital.

Woman Disappears After Clashing With Hubby Over Romantic Facebook Messages…
A CHIKANGA family is grappling to come to terms with the disappearance of their daughter-in-law who packed her belongings and left behind two minor children following an altercation with her husband.
Chengetai Janet Nyamande (23) left her matrimonial house in Chikanga on January 6 following an altercation with her husband, Solomon Mukau over romantic messages she had sent to her male friends on WhatsApp and Facebook which were discovered by her husband.
She left behind their two-year-old boy and six-year-old girl. This was confirmed by Mukau’s brother, Nigel Nyemba in a telephone interview on Tuesday afternoon.
A notice looking for her whereabouts has gone viral on the social media, while reward money of US$800 has been put on the table by the family for anyone with information leading to her whereabouts.
The family has also filed a missing person report at Mutare Central Police Station under RRB number 3228021.
Said Nyemba: “My brother still loves his wife. It all started on January 6 when they had an altercation over Nyamande’s alleged love messages on Facebook and WhatsApp with male friends. Upon discovering the messages, my brother confronted Nyamande.
“After their altercation, my brother stormed out of the house and went away. I think my brother’s wife panicked and decided to leave in fear of the unknown. My brother is not a violent person and I think his wife thought something worse was coming. She went away and we have never heard from her since January 6.”
He said they received an anonymous call that Nyamande was in Chitungwiza and had to drive there. However, they failed to locate her after the informant’s phone was switched off. Efforts to contact Nyamande proved fruitless as she is reported to have left her phone behind.
“We are appealing to anyone with information leading to her whereabouts to contact us on 0787867750. We are willing to part with US$800 to get her back,” added Nyemba.- Manica Post

Byo Police Impounds 140 Vehicles In One Day
POLICE in Bulawayo have impounded 140 vehicles including pirate taxis and a bus from Botswana, for defying the lockdown regulations meant to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the second phase of operation ‘udingani Etown.’
The vehicles were impounded in a one-day blitz on Thursday.
During lockdown, members of the public are supposed to be confined to their homes and may only leave to buy basic necessities at a supermarket, food retail, fuel or gas at a fuel or gas retail outlet within a radius not exceeding five kilometres or the nearest establishment if those within the radius are closed.
Government imposed a 6pm to 6am curfew on 2 January as part of lockdown measures to curb the spread Covid19.
Under the lockdown restrictions, owners or drivers of the vehicles are liable to prosecution and no public or private vehicle is allowed to proceed beyond checkpoints and roadblocks without authorisation.
In a media briefing at Ross Camp yesterday, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said the operation implies that all motorists that are coming into the city centre are stopped at checkpoints by traffic policers to check the purpose of going to town,
He said unauthorised vehicles will be impounded.
“All vehicles coming into the city centre are stopped at checkpoints for the purpose of verifying their movement. A total of 140 vehicles were impounded including pirate taxis that are violating lockdown regulations and as result we came up with an operation code ‘udingani Etown’, as a result the vehicle owners are supposed to pay fines,” he said.
“People who are going to be found in unauthorised vehicles risk being charged as they are also failing to comply with the lockdown regulations,” said Insp Ncube.
Inspector Ncube said members of the public are expected to shop within a 5 kilometre radius from their homes while essential service employees will be allowed to pass through checkpoints after producing exemption letters.
When Chronicle news crew visited Ross Camp, the 140 cars were parked at an impound lot while owners queued to pay fines.
Inspector Ncube warned members of the public to avoid unnecessary movements as they risk being arrested and contracting corona virus.
Police have arrested 3 236 more violaters of Covid-19 national lockdown regulations countrywide bringing to 389 944 the total number of people nabbed since the beginning of the lockdown on March30 last year.
Out of those, 1 756 people were arrested for unnecessary movements while 997 were arrested for failure to wear face masks. The arrests were made of Wednesday.

Chiwenga Takes Full Charge Of Ministry of Health
VICE-PRESIDENT and Health minister Constantino Chiwenga has dissolved the National Pharmaceutical Company (NatPharm) board, while ministry principal director Gibson Mhlanga is in trouble over a Covid-19 material tender scam which sucked in Deputy Health minister John Mangwiro.
Legally, a parastatal board is appointed and dissolved by the minister.
The board, which was chaired by renowned medical practitioner Billy Rigava, comprising anaesthetist Northburga Harunavamwe Chifamba, procurement and supply specialist Johnson Shonhe, lawyer Rachel Chibaya and banker Gerald Gore, was kicked out during the first week of December last year.
Approached for comment, Rigava declined to discuss the matter, while Mangwiro’s mobile phone went unanswered several times yesterday.
Health ministry acting permanent secretary Robert Mudyiradima wrote the letters of dismissal, leaving the pharmaceutical company without a board at a time when the country is battling to contain Covid-19 which has to date killed over 1 200 people, including four ministers.
A seasoned medical practitioner, Mhlanga, who was Health ministry’s preventative services principal director, was caught in the crossfire as he was acting permanent secretary when the US$3,5 million Covid-19 materials tender raised questions.
Investigations show that Mhlanga was suspended, pending dismissal over alleged issuance of Covid-19 re-testing directive for travellers from Tanzania. However, the real bone of contention is said to be the Covid-19 tender in which Mangwiro allegedly influenced the granting of a tender to a company he had an interest in.
Former NatPharm acting managing director Zealous Nyabadza — suspected to be the Covid-19 materials scandal whistleblower — lost his job on January 6, 2021, after serving the company for 15 years.
Efforts to get Nyabadza to comment were futile as he also refused to entertain questions.
But details gathered by the Zimbabwe Independent show that as soon as the tender debacle exploded, Nyabadza was replaced by Air Commodore Gibson Dumba on October 1, 2020, as he was re-appointed acting operations manager. He was later re-assigned to his full-time role of information technology (IT) manager in December 2020.
Dumba was seconded to NatPharm from the Women Affairs, Community, Small-and-Medium Enterprises Development ministry, where he was principal director. He has no medical background fit to run a drug manufacturing entity.
As the NatPharm drama unfolded, on December 30, 2020, Dumba wrote a letter to Nyabadza re-appointing him IT manager. The firm’s Mutare branch manager Kudakwashe Chimbarara then took over as operations manager.
Things came to a head on January 6, 2021, when Dumba terminated Nyabadza’s contract on three months’ notice. Labou r experts say the contract termination “without valid reasons” could be a clear violation of the Labour Act.
Nyabadza is likely to contest the dismissal at the Labour Court, in what could be a bruising legal battle.
It also emerged that after over a decade of loyal service at the pharmaceutical manufacturer, Nyabadza was forced out empty-handed.
Nyabadza’s exit came several weeks after the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) opened an investigation file — “Examination of Procurement Procedures for Tender Number — International Nat ITCB FWWK 04/2020 — Laboratory Equipment, Reagents and Consumables for Covid-19 Management at NatPharm (31 August-4 September 2020)”.
A Zacc official report implicated Mangwiro in alleged mishandling of a tender through issuing directives contrary to public procurement regulations.
Mangwiro has denied interfering with the Covid-19 materials tender describing the allegations as malicious and mischievous. – Zimbabwe Independent

Manufacturer Says Ivermectin Has No Therapeutic Effect Against COVID-19
Manufacturers of Ivermectin which was recently recommended for use to treat Covid-19 has cautioned people against using the drug saying there is no scientific proof of its effectiveness to cure the global pandemic.
“No scientific basis for a potential therapeutic effect against COVID-19 from pre-clinical studies… no meaningful evidence for clinical activity or clinical efficacy in patients with COVID-19 disease, and… a concerning lack of safety data in the majority of studies.
“We do not believe that the data available support the safety and efficacy of ivermectin beyond the doses and populations indicated in the regulatory agency-approved prescribing information,” the company said.
Nyaradzo Donates Personal Protective Equipment To Journalists
NYARADZO Group yesterday donated personal protective equipment (ppe) to the media fraternity, a gesture aimed at protecting journalists from the scourge of Covid-19.
The media, like any other fraternity has not been spared from the deadly pandemic, with the first person to be killed by the virus last year being a media practitioner.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic and subsequent introduction of various measures to curb the spread of the virus in Zimbabwe, the media has been designated as an essential service provider during the ongoing lockdown period, hence the need for the practitioners to have PPE.
The donation was handed over to the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa yesterday at her offices in Harare.- The Herald

Man Dies Two Weeks After Killing Python, Is It By Coincidence?
MYSTERY surrounds the demise of a Chipinge man who died last week when his vehicle plunged into a collapsed section of the Skyline-Chimanimani Road after it emerged that he had run over a 3m long python near the same spot two weeks prior to the accident.
Silas Mandiri died in the early hours of last Saturday morning on his way to Chimanimani on business.
He was buried at his rural home in Musarakufa Village, Mutoko on Sunday.
According to a source who preferred anonymity, Mandiri, who used to ply the Chipinge-Chimanimani route regularly had run over a three-metre long python near the same spot he met his death.
“Mandiri used to ply the Chipinge and Chimanimani route supplying beverages to business centres at Peacock, Machongwe and others. He was well known here. Barely two weeks ago, he ran over and killed a very big snake while he was on one of his trips. The snake died on the spot and we saw it. The serpent was taken to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks,” said the source.
In a telephone interview, Mandiri’s wife, Cynthia Mandiri, confirmed that her husband ran over the snake, but said the family had not placed much significance on the incident.
“Two weeks ago my husband told me about running over a snake, but we did not take the issue seriously. He didn’t think it was anything sinister and neither did I. We just thought it was one of those incidents that can happen to anyone driving along a road in the countryside.
“The family is not really trying to connect that incident to his death. We are focused on grieving our beloved one,” she said.
Cynthia said her husband was a caring and loving father and his cruel death had shattered her life.
Mandiri left behind two children, a daughter, Besclin (13) and a son, Bistin (3).
He met his untimely demise when a section of the newly repaired Skyline-Chimanimani Road gave in to the pressure of debris blocking a culvert and collapsed.
He plunged into the collapsed section.
Cynthia said she had received a phone call from the police telling her to rush to Chimanimani because her husband had been involved in an accident.
As she and other relatives were preparing to leave, another phone call came through informing them of Mandiri’s death.
“I thought the reality would sink in once I saw his body, but I am still in denial. I am still to come to terms with my husband’s death. He was too young to leave this earth. I still think I will see him walking through the door and telling me that all this was a nightmare. He left in the morning to go to work and never came back,” said Cynthia.
However, traditional healers said there could be more to the accident.
Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers’ Association (Zinatha) president, George Kandiero, said the late Mandiri should have consulted elders after running over and killing the python, a move which might have saved his life.
“Pythons are endangered species and according to our tradition, the running over and killing of the sacred serpent could have had a sinister meaning. All he had to do was to consult a traditional healer to find out if there was something behind the accident. He could have saved his life if he had done that,” he said.
He said people are no longer respecting cultural practices that have a big impact on their lives.
“Sometimes we rush to think that our churches and prayers are all we need in such situations, but that is not always the case. Supernatural events happen and we need to respect that aspect of our culture,” said Mr Kandiero.- Manica Post

Cup Of Tea: Malema With Zuma
What was billed as one of the grandest political events of the year so far has plunged South Africans into a state of confusion after details of Friday’s meeting between EFF leader Julius Malema and former president Jacob Zuma were kept a closely guarded secret.
,
Arriving in a helicopter shortly before 1pm at Zuma’s home village of Nkandla, 215km from Durban, Malema and his entourage – including former EFF chairperson advocate Dali Mpofu, party spokesperson Vuyani Pambo and close Zuma ally and Ekurhuleni mayor Mzwandile Masina – were whisked away from the helipad several metres outside the former head of state’s vast homestead into the controversial R246 million Zuma home.
Also among the visitors was ANC national executive committee member Tony Yengeni. While Masina has been a vocal supporter of Zuma’s, Yengeni’s presence is sure to raise some eyebrows within the ruling party.
The travelling party remained enclosed inside Zuma’s home, otherwise known as Kwadakwudunuse, for close to five hours before emerging in black luxurious German sedans that whisked them to the helipad before flying into the Nkandla sunset as they departed.
The meeting comes in the wake of the 78-year-old former head of state blatantly defying to adhere to the Constitutional Court’s judgment ordering him to appear before the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture headed by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
Addressing the media outside Zuma’s homestead afterwards, Pambo said the meeting had gone well but did not disclose further details to the gathering of reporters.
Pambo said there had not been a theme for the meeting put out to the public or media, but the agenda between the former leader of the ANC Youth League and the former ANC and state president was tea.
Pambo said the media had not been invited to Nkandla, and they were only talking to the media as a courtesy.
“The meeting went very well, the tea was nice and sweet, very hot. So you know the practice of having tea is such that it’s a slow process, you can’t just gulp it like you drink other things so you have to take your time,” was all Pambo would tell the media. -IOL

Can Mosimane Overcome Bayern Munich?
Pitso Mosimane’s quest to make history in the FIFA Club World Cup is on the right track after leading Ahly to a 1-0 win over Al Duhail setting up a semi-final clash with European champions Bayern Munich in the process.
No African team has ever won the annual competition and the outspoken South African tactician is seeking to break that jinx.
“It always seems impossible, until somebody does it,” he said in an interview with CNN recently when asked if he believes he can go all the way.
Hussein El Shahat’s solitary strike on the half hour mark was all the Egyptian champions needed to set up a not to be missed semi-final clash with the Bavarians.
Mosimane, one of the continent’s most decorated coaches, joined Ahly from Mamelodi Sundowns and won the treble in a very short period of time.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Facts About Leprosy
From Yohei Sasakawa, WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Leprosy Elimination
Over the past year, the headlines have been dominated by COVID-19. It is easy to overlook other diseases, especially a disease such as leprosy that many people think is a disease of the past.
But leprosy requires our attention. There are still some 200,000 new cases diagnosed worldwide each year. Millions of people are living with some form of disability as a result of leprosy.
Both the label “leprosy” and the disability that can result if this age-old disease goes untreated can lead to social exclusion. Persons affected by leprosy continue to face discrimination, reinforced in some countries by outdated laws that make leprosy grounds for divorce, prevent people with the disease from participating in public life or place other restrictions on their activities.
As WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Leprosy Elimination, I have seen for myself how leprosy has marginalized individuals. Women and children are particularly vulnerable to the social and economic consequences of the disease.
Overcoming leprosy involves more than early diagnosis and prompt treatment. It also requires changing mindsets so that leprosy is no longer a source of shame or prejudice. We must remove all barriers in the way of those seeking medical care. We must eliminate the obstacles that prevent affected individuals and their families from living in dignity and enjoying all their basic human rights as full members of society.
I often talk about leprosy in terms of a motorcycle. The front wheel represents curing the disease and the rear wheel symbolizes ending discrimination. Only when both wheels are turning at the same time will we make progress toward our destination of a leprosy-free world.
As I survey the road ahead, I am confident we are moving in the right direction: the WHO’s Global Leprosy Strategy for 2021-2030 will generate renewed momentum; organizations of persons affected by leprosy are becoming more influential, and their calls for change more powerful; and the UN Special Rapporteur on leprosy is working tirelessly to see that principles and guidelines on the elimination of discrimination against persons affected by leprosy and their family members are fully implemented.
I believe we will achieve a world without leprosy one day. But along the way, we need to realize an inclusive society in which everyone has access to quality treatment and services, and a diagnosis of leprosy no longer comes with a possibility of devastating physical, social, economic or psychological consequences.
Compared to other diseases, leprosy may only affect a small number of people, but we are all responsible for building an inclusive world.

By A Correspondent- London| Cecilia Chimbiri’s father, Henry, and other victims have tasked British Police to arrest Zimbabweans in UK who coordinated and encouraged the abduction of his daughter, and other attacks against citizens since 1 Aug 2018 to Feb 2021. Prosecutors sitting at the Old Bailey in London received affidavits from victims of violence since 1 Aug 2018.
The development is the first since 1979 that British courts are to hear cases of terrorism committed against the Zimbabwean people.
The first case concerning Zimbabwe terrorism was briefly heard on Friday morning at the Old Bailey, ZimEye reveals.
A Zimbabwean-woman has since 1 Aug 2018 been shooting live videos instructing crimes of terrorism in Zimbabwe, while boasting that she controls the British Police who she will use against MDC Alliance members. Her activities have led to the killing of at least 25 people, raping of 50 women and large scale burnings of properties to implicate MDC Alliance members. She has also vowed that her methods will ensure her terrorism is sustained for another 50 years.

The midway mark into Mnangagwa’s stolen term of lies—A citizen’s audit
By Luke Tamborinyoka
Introduction
Last Saturday last week marked the midway mark into Emmerson Mnangagwa’s 5-year mandate and this week, I make a citizen’s audit of what has been a stolen term of unfulfilled premises, lies and fibs.
The disputed election was held on 30 July 2018. Last Saturday it was exactly two and a half years since that last poll. Mnangagwa may have officially begun his 5-year term at his inauguration on 26 August 2018 but we may as well begin a candid midterm assessment of the man’s blood-soaked tenure thus far against his own promises to the nation and the world.
Mr Mnangagwa has been lying at every level and this week, I begin with the village lies he told my kinsmen and kinswomen when he addressed a campaign rally in my rural home area of Domboshava sometime in April 2018.
As part of his cocktail of promises to my fellow villagers in this hallowed land of my birth, the man promised to tar the 20-kilometre stretch of road that stretches from Sasa turn off, through my home area in Shumba ward three up to the Chabwino shops along Shamva Road in ward 7 of Goromonzi West constituency. Mnangagwa even told the rally that the tarred road will be called Emmerson Mnangagwa road. . Midway into his term, the road is in a sorry state. The incessant rains have caused impassable gullies and flowing rivulets across the parlous road. Vehicles can barely pass through, particularly at the steep ascent near Marimo village. Midway into his term, there are no prospects of Mnangagwa fulfilling his promise. The villagers, through a community initiative, are now planning to repair this road on their own after realising that the so-called President has led them up the garden path.
Yes, the villagers are now planning to subsidise the incompetence of a whole President who is given to telling village lies.
Mnangagwa is lucky that old men who lie like him are not knew in the village. His lying type is known in the village. The type that sits by the fireside in a winter night—and noting that there is no one of their age around —start to misrepresent those scars left on them by measles and small pox as ” gun shot wounds left when I engaged in a mortal combat with a Rhodesian soldier during the liberation struggle while armed with nothing but my bare hands !”
To my kinsmen, Mnangagwa is a chronic liar and soon, the poor villagers will take it upon themselves to repair a State road because a whole President is stingy with the truth… anosona bhodhoro as they would derisively say in Shona.
He started with such village lies in his campaign rallies throughout the country before he elevated his own lies to the grand national scale .
This week, as we mark the midway mark into his stolen mandate, I hereby chronicle the 15 unfulfilled promises, nay the 15 lies, that Mnangagwa told the world, in his own words , at his inauguration
at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday, 26 August 2018.
Lie number 1 : It was a perfect election
In his inauguration speech, Mnangagwa said the 2018 election had been held not only in accordance with the country’s laws, but had been ” guided and unformed by the SADC principles and guidelines governing elections as well as the AU declaration on principles governing democratic elections in Africa .”
Nothing could be further from the truth. The election was not held in line with international best practice. The other contesting parties, except Zanu PF, had no knowledge regarding the number of ballots or where they had been printed. In elections other countries in the region such as Zambia and Namibia have held , such information around ballots is not a closely guarded secret.
In our case, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission even changed its own figures a record three times, and this only after the MDC Alliance had filed an electoral petition.
Moreover, the public media did not cover all the parties and candidates equally and impartially in the 2018 election, in line with the provisions of sections 61 as read together with section 155 (2) (d) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe. A High Court judge, Justice Joseph Mafusire was later to issue a judgement that held that the public media was biased in its coverage of the 2018 plebiscite.
So much for the so-called “perfect election” in which Mr Mnangagwa lied at his inauguration that this had been a free and fair poll in which ” competing ideas were discussed and debated , freely and openly .”
Lie number 2 : We are legitimate
Mnangagwa claimed in his inauguration speech to have been ” duly mandated to form the next government .”
His claim to legitimacy was solely premised on the verdict of the Constitutional Court, which ruled on the 24th of August 2018 that he had won the election.
In a country with a captured Judiciary and in which the judges themselves have written a public letter citing gross political interference in their work, the claim that he won the election solely on the basis of the court verdict becomes preposterous.
In any case, some of us have always argued that legality and legitimacy are not mutually inclusive, just as apartheid in South Africa was perfectly legal even though it was not legitimate and was morally represensible.
Similarly, the court verdict may have made Mr Mnangagwa’s victory legal but that does not make him legitimate as legitimacy and legality are sometimes mutually exclusive.
Moreover, there is the notion of performance legitimacy. Given the dismal failure of ED’s government in addressing pressing national questions, Mnangagwa is illegitimate in that regard as well.
Lie number 3 : We have birthed a new Zimbabwe
In his inauguration speech, Mr Mnangagwa confidently said he had ” birthed a new Zimbabwe .”
Yet his government has continued with the culture of repression and impunity that characterised the era of deposed President Robert Mugabe. The country’s human rights record has palpably gotten worse under his stewardship with lawyers, judges, journalists, MPs, councillors, human rights defenders and civic and political activists being wantonly arrested on trumped-up charges.
In short, the human rights situation in the country under Mr Mnangagwa has gotten worse. He has not birthed a new, democratic dispensation as he claimed at his inauguration.
The situation in the country is far much worse under Mr. Mnangagwa. In fact, Mnangagwa has turned out to be a Robert Mugabe on steroids!
Lie number 4 : We have opened a new era
In his inauguration speech, Mr Mnangagwa said he had ” opened a new path full of freedoms , democracy , transparency , love and harmony .”
The opposite is in fact true. The Mnangagwa regime has opened a new path and infused emasculation for freedoms, autocracy for democracy, murkiness for transparency, hate for love and acrimony for harmony.
Contrary to his promise of a new era, the Mnangagwa regime has actuated a new error in the entire body politic!
Lie number 5 : We elected leaders of our choice
” We freely exercised our democratic rights to elect leaders of our choice and this we did , said Mr Mnangagwa in his inauguration speech.
Nelson Chamisa was a leader of choice in the election that Mr Mnangagwa claimed people were free to make their choices.
Even by ZEC’s disputed figures, both Chamisa as President of the MDC Alliance and Mnangagwa as Zanu PF leader each surpassed the two million mark in terms of votes garnered in the Presidential poll.
Today, the people’s unfettered choice has been taken away from Nelson Chamisa, which choice the people had themselves made at the polling stations. Chamisa’s votes, his party, his party headquarters and the MP’s and councillors belonging to the MDC Alliance have all been taken away and donated to Thokozani Khupe, whose national votes garnered throughout were a measly 45 000.
Mnangagwa has tampered with the very freedom of choice that he was pontificating about at his inauguration by giving a whole party and its elected leaders to a pliable surrogate.
Lie number 6 : We will bring finality to the brutal murders of August 1 2018
At his inauguration two and half years ago, Mr Mnangagwa said he would bring ” closure and finality ” to the State orchestrated murders of 1 August 2018.
Two and half years later, there is still no closure. Mnangagwa has ignored the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry he set up himself that recommended that action be taken on the perpetrators and that the victims’ families be compensated.
Mr Mnangagwa has neither taken any action on the perpetrators of the heinous murders nor compensated the families of the victims, even though he has previously lied to diplomats that he had compensated the families.
I know for instance that Suspicious Kumire, the widow of the slain Ishmael Kumire who hailed from Matope village in my rural hood of Domboshava has not been compensated and she is struggling to send her two children to Santa Heights private school in the same Domboshava area.
In short, Mnangagwa has lied about bringing closure to the August 1 2018 murders.
Lie number 7 : There shall be separation of powers
Mr Mnangagwa claimed at his inauguration that his government will be ” committed to Constitutionalism , entrenching the rule of law , the principle of separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary .”
Mnangagwa has instead weaponised the law to fight his political opponents through what has now been branded lawfare. On Constitutionalism, Mr Mnangagwa instead wants to amend the Constitution instead of implementing it as what a true Constitutionalist would do. He claimed he believed in the separation of powers but the country’s judges have written a letter, now in the public domain, complaining about gross interference in their work. The courts have ruled that prosecutors seconded to the National Prosecution Authority be withdrawn by 20 February 2021 as their deployment to serve on the civilian courts was patently unconstitutional. For a regime that banks on the security sector, it remains to be seen whether this will be done in the next fortnight and whether there are sufficient mechanisms to ensure that this directive is complied with. Parliament’s oversight role has been seriously curtailed as Mnangagwa’s key ally and financier, Kuda Tagwireyi , has brazenly refused to come before a Parliamentary committee to answer questions regarding the murky Command Agriculture programme in which US$3 billion disappeared without trace.
Therefore, Mr Mnangagwa was lying when he said he believed in the rule of law, separation of powers and had unstinting faith in defending a Constitution he now wants to amend instead of implementing.
Lie number 8 : We shall implement robust reform agenda
At his inauguration, Mnangagwa said he would usher in a comprehensive reform agenda but to date, the country, the region and the world await political, economic, security sector and media reforms that would improve people’s lives and break the cycle of disputed elections in Zimbabwe.
All we have heard in the past two and a half years is the rhetoric of reform. We have yet to see the substance.
Lie number 9 : Zimbabwe is open for business
.
This has largely remained a slogan. There has been no massive investment in the country because of the policy inconsistency by the Mnangagwa regime.
The gross human rights abuses and has seriously dented the mantra of Zimbabwe is open for business. A country cannot be open for business when it is not open for human life and human rights!
Lie number 10 : We shall engage and re-engage
At his inauguration, Mnangagwa said he was ” opening a new chapter in our relations with the world , underpinned by the value of mutual respect .”
The gross human rights abuses and the State-sanctioned murders have dented the purported efforts to engage and re-engage. In fact, the Mnangagwa regime, through its acts of omission and commission, has done all it can to disengage from the rest of the civilised world. The value of mutual respect, even in the region, has been seriously undermined by Mnangagwa’s Zanu PF. For example the Zanu PF director of Information, Tafadzwa Mugwadi, has publicly attacked the ANC, South Africa and the country’s leader President Cyril Ramaphosa. So much for Mr Mnangagwa’s claim that his government will engage and re-engage. It has not helped matters that President Ramaphosa who was publicly attacked by Mr Mnangagwa’s party is the AU chair who recently sent a delegation to the country to explore ways of dealing with the crisis in Zimbabwe.
Lie number 11 : We shall improve social services
At his inauguration, Mr Mnangagwa said: ” There is need for the modernisation and revamping of our social services sector to improve efficiency and the quality of delivery .”
In spite of this high-sounding promise, basic social services, particularly health and education, have virtually collapsed. Both teachers and health workers have very legitimate grievances which have not been addressed.
In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, these frontline workers have been neglected, with neither any form of government support nor the provision of the requisite PPE.
” My government will move speedily to refurbish and reconstruct health , education , water and sanitation infrastructure . This is a promise we will deliver ,” Mnangagwa said in his inauguration speech.
Sadly, and most cruelly, Mnangagwa has dismally failed to meet his own promise in this regard.
Lie number 12 : We shall create jobs
At his inauguration, Mnangagwa said: ” The creation of jobs , jobs and more jobs will be at the core of all our policies .”
Unfortunately, no single job has been created by this government, save for the vast “jobs” and opportunities that Mr Mnangagwa has created for his kinsmen, acolytes and cronies across the labyrinth of the country’s economic sectors.
Lie number 13 : I shall be fair and impartial
” As your President , I pledge to act fairly and impartially ,” Mr Mnangagwa told a bemused audience at his inauguration on 26 August 2018.
Instead, partiality, unfairness and selective application of the law have been the hallmark of Mr Mnangagwa’s tenure thus far.
For example, while corrupt goons such as Obediah Moyo never spent a night in prison, it is those who expose corruption who are arrested. Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has been arrested three times in less than a year while the the corrupt elite continue to freely roam the country.
Mnangagwa’s partiality has also been exposed by the fact that while his government locked down the country for the rest of the citizenry, he allowed his party’s DCC elections to proceed. Government ministers who held birthday parties and Mnangagwa’s friends who hosted lavish end-pf-year bashes in violation of Covid-19 lockdown regulations were not arrested while ghetto youths who did the same were incarcerated.
Mnangagwa’s government has also announced that it is now on the verge of procuring Covid-19 vaccines. Apart from frontline staff, who certainly deserve priority, the government has announced it will also prioritise government ministers and the political elite in the provision of Covid-19 vaccines.
So much for Mr Mnangagwa’s promise for fairness, non-discrimination and impartiality!
Lie number 14 : I will unstintingly fight corruption
” In the Second Republic , no person or entity will be allowed to steal , loot or pocket that which belongs to the people of Zimbabwe,” Mr Mnangagwa said at his inauguration.
Instead, corruption has become the elephant in the living room under this so-called Second Republic. Most of the corruption has sucked in the First family while Mnangagwa’s own bodyguards have been fingered in some of the murky deals. Mnangagwa’s uncle and former Health minister Obediah Moyo, close relative Henrietta Rushwaya who attempted to smuggle 6kgs of gold outside the country with the assistance of Mnangagwa’s personal bodyguards are just but a sample that shows that corruption is deeply ingrained in the country’s political elite. If you add the cases of deputy minister Mangwiro and others, it becomes clear the country has become a kleptocracy.
Mnangagwa just can’t deal with corruption because he is the archbishop. It is instructive to note that we are still to get news of a conviction on these high profile corruption cases. Expecting Mnangagwa to decisively deal with corruption is akin to expecting a mosquito to cure malaria.
Lie number 15 : I shall implement devolution
” As per our pledge , during the campaign , my government will be implementing the Constitutional provisions with regards to devolution of government powers and responsibilities . Provinces will now be expected to plan and grow their provincial economies ,” Mr Mnangagwa thundered at his inauguration.
Notwithstanding the boisterous pronouncement, the reality on the ground is that there is lip-service when it comes to the issue of devolution. There is no sincerity whatsoever on the part of government to implement devolution despite the clear provisions contained under chapter 14 of the national Constitution.
For example, the provincial and metropolitan councils that must run the provinces as envisaged under the devolution principle are still to be put in place, some eight years after the adoption of the new Constitution. In fact, it is a well-calculated manoeuvre that Zanu PF is using its political surrogate to recall and reverse the number of MDC Alliance elected officials in the provinces as part of a ploy to influence the political colour of these provincial councils.
To demonstrate that the regime is not committed to the notion of devolution, we heard very disturbing stories at the MDC Alliance’s Mayors’ Forum that President Chamisa hosted at the party headquarters on 28 February last year.
We heard from our councillors and mayors that there was favoritism and political bias in the disbursement of devolution funds to local authorities. Larger local authorities run by the MDC Alliance were receiving less money than smaller local authorities run by Zanu PF. For example, the larger local authority of Zvishavane that is controlled by the MDC Alliance received less money than the smaller Runde rural district council run by the Zanu PF. Similarly, the MDC Alliance-run Rusape Town Council received less money than the smaller rural district councils that are controlled by Zanu PF in the surrounding areas.
In short, notwithstanding his high-sounding statements on the issue of devolution, Mr Mnangagwa is just insincere as evidenced by the fact that his government is still to constitute the requisite provincial and metropolitan councils that must run these provinces.
Conclusion
Judged against his own words, Mnangagwa’s tenure has been a tale of outright lies. His high-sounding promises at his inauguration ceremony, as Shakespeare would say, were a piece of sublime mysticism and nonsense.
In the week that we arrive at the halfway signpost of Mnangagwa’s eventful tenure, this citizen’s audit has shown that the mammoth pronouncements at his inauguration was just but an act of mere rhetoric.
Each of the country’s 10 provinces can give you a laundry list of promises made to them by Mnangagwa during his campaign and as spelt out at his inauguration. But at village, provincial and national levels the promises remain unfulfilled as Mnangagwa has , shown an uncanny capacity to lie at every level.
For a man whose government has a penchant of concocting trumped up charges of communicating falsehoods against innocent citizens, it is ironic that the man himself is the chief protagonist in peddling mistruths to a despondent nation, as enunciated in this paper.
This audit or juxtaposition of the man’s inactions against his own words has shown that since August 2018, ours has been a strident march up the garden path. As we mark the attainment of 30 of his 60 months in office, there is no doubt that the man has dismally failed to fulfil his own promises.
And the chances of him fulfilling his promises in the remainder of his term lie somewhere between nil and zero!
Mnangagwa has simply institutionalised lying, as exemplified by his laughable allegation that those who claimed they had been abducted by State security agents were actually people who were abducting themselves so as to frame the government. Or that other fawny claim by State Security Minister Owen Ncube that Nelson Chamisa and the MDC Alliance were bringing huge arms of war into the country in order to unseat the government.
It was astounding that a whole Cabinet Minister could sit before clicking cameras to make such serious allegations without any shred of evidence whatsoever and without arresting the alleged culprits fingered in such a treasonous act!
On Saturday, 30 January 2021, Mnangagwa completed 30 of his 60 months in this his current stolen term. As this piece has shown, and judged against his own pronouncements and promises at his inauguration, it has been a journey marked by dismal failure. The journey thus far has been a gargantuan lie.
As the scoresheet shows against his own promises, it has been zero out of 15 in this citizen’s mid-term report for Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Technical Glitches Haunt ZIMRA
By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) says it is experiencing technical glitches on its online platforms following an upsurge of clients seeking to process tax clearance certificates for this year.
According to the revenue collector, workers from its Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) department are hard at work trying to resolve the challenges.
In a statement today, Zimra said the high user traffic and congestion has been worsened by the fact that many certificates issued last year expired recently.
“We would like to sincerely apologize for the challenges that our valued clients have been experiencing with our E-services system in applying for the tax clearance certificates for 2021.
This has been worsened by the congestion due to high user traffic applying at the same time, following the expiry of the previously extended tax clearance submission deadline. The system is operational, and our ICT team is attending to system congestion challenges to improve the system performance,” said the revenue collector.
To address the technical challenges, the organisation said the ICT team is adding capacity to the infrastructure, which will improve the logging process on the system by taxpayers.
In addition, the team is directly engaging taxpayers who have reported their challenges and assisting them to access their tax clearance certificates.
They are working with the vendor (Microsoft) to enhance the system capacity so that it is able to handle multiple requests at the same time.
“Currently the majority of the taxpayers are able to log on and submit their requests. However, due to non-compliance, the system is not issuing them the tax clearance certificates.
Clients are advised to ensure that they are compliant in all respects before submitting their applications i.e. fiscalisation Interface, returns submission and tax payments,” said Zimra.
In the interim, compliant taxpayers who fail to get their ITF263 through the system are advised to communicate with their assigned liaison officers by e-mail so that they are assisted manually to download their ITF263 (Tax Clearances).-statemedia
Grave Shortages Haunt Byo
By A Correspondent- Bulawayo City Council is facing imminent grave shortage as a result of incessant rains that have caused flooding at Luveve Cemetery, making the graveyard soggy and unfit for burials.
This has forced the local authority to temporarily suspend the digging of graves at the cemetery and concentrate on few spaces at West Park and Athlone cemeteries.
This comes on the backdrop of high demand for graves due to COVID-19-related deaths.
Council spokesperson Nesisa Mpofu confirmed the suspension of grave digging, adding that they were working on Athlone and few available spaces at West Park.
“Luveve Cemetery has sections that are flooding, therefore, digging of graves using the backhoe has become not only difficult, but impossible as the plant sinks,” Mpofu said.
Bulawayo Progressive Residents Association chairperson Ambrose Sibindi said while he agreed that this was due to natural causes, the local authority should always plan for such eventualities.
“While we accept that this is due to a natural cause, council should have contingent plans, they should have other reserved areas. Athlone can also be affected, but people should not fail to bury their relatives,” Sibindi said..-Newsday
Walter Magaya Turns To Mining?

By A Correspondent- Scores of small-scale gold miners in West Nicholson, just after Gwanda town, were pleasantly surprised to get a visit from a man they least expected to take an interest in their line of work – gold mining.
The visitor was non-other than the man of the cloth, Prophet Walter Magaya of the Prophetic Healing Deliverance (PHD) Ministries.
West Nicholson is a gold rich area with hundreds of small-scale gold miners working day and night in search of the precious metal.
According to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe gold buying arm, Fidelity Printers, small scale miners contribute 60 percent of the gold produced by the country annually.
“We had no idea Prophet Magaya would have an interest in gold mining, especially when it comes to us omakorokoza (small scale miners) because people think we are just violent people who spend all our money on alcohol and women.
“He walked around, talking to us and asking about some of the challenges that we face and gave us advice to always work hard.
“One thing that he kept emphasising was for us to avoid violence and always work in harmony so that God can bless the fruits of our hard work and sweat,” said Sibongumusa Mlilo, a small-scale miner who has been working in the gold rich area of West Nicholson for seven years.
Prophet Magaya owns a football team Yadah FC.
He has no known business interests in gold mining.

140 Vehicles Impounded For Lockdown Violations
By A Correspondent- Police in Bulawayo have impounded 140 vehicles including pirate taxis and a bus from Botswana, for defying the lockdown regulations meant to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the second phase of operation ‘udingani Etown.’
The arrests were made of Wednesday.-statemedia
ED Mulls Cabinet Reshuffle?
By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa, rattled by the recent loss of three ministers to Covid-19, is considering a cabinet reshuffle that has sparked fierce jostling in Zanu-PF and government.
Foreign Affairs minister Sibusiso B Moyo and his Transport and Infrastructural Development counterpart Joel Biggie Matiza and Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Ellen Gwaradzimba died last month from Covid-19-related complications.
Mnangagwa, insiders said, was under pressure from Zanu-PF, the military and close business associates who are lining up their proxies for ministerial posts.
He will need to deploy the skills to walk a fine line between balancing interests of the opposing fronts and bringing incompetent personnel to help steer the country out of the current economic and diplomatic mess.
The Zimbabwe Independent is reliably informed that Mnangagwa has already started the consultation process for suitable candidates.
Sources said the President instructed Zanu-PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu to collect curriculum vitaes (CVs) from members of the National Assembly and the Senate.
Mpofu then delegated Zanu-PF parliamentary chief whip Pupurai Togarepi, who on Tuesday, sent SMS and WhatsApp messages to MPs, demanding the CVs.
The message reads: “Attention all members, very urgent: May you send summarised CVs on the following e-mail address (e-mail address supplied). This is an instruction from the secretary for administration’s office. It’s very urgent and confidential, of course.”
In an interview yesterday, Togarepi confirmed calling for MPs’ CVs.
“I think that is an internal party issue which I would normally not respond to, but I will just tell you that this was done to assess our legislators’ skills, qualifications and competencies for future tasks. This may have to do with moving them to different committees of parliament or other appointments; so I will keep the information in my database,” he said.
Pressed on why party leaders demanded the CVs, he said, “Oh, of course, yes, that is true. I was acting on instructions from my superiors. I draw my authority from the leadership of the party. They now have that information, but I don’t know what they will use it for.”
Efforts to get comments from Mpofu were fruitless as his mobile phone was on voicemail. Questions sent via SMS went unanswered.
It is understood that legislators are jostling to take up ministerial posts by angling to gain favour with Mnangagwa.
Some MPs even engaged consultants to prepare attractive CVs.
“It’s not a secret that there will be a cabinet reshuffle soon. The President, though keeping his cards close to his chest, has given a clear indication that he is not going to appoint gap fillers, but wants a cabinet reshuffle. He also appears to be frustrated by the incompetences of some ministers,” an official said.
A Zanu-PF politburo member chipped in: “I haven’t seen this level of interest in ministerial appointments. People have been running around trying to fix things and lining themselves up for posts. As we speak, not one MP failed to submit his or her CV.”
The final line-up of possible new cabinet members is unknown, but sources indicated that Mnangagwa has lost faith in Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation minister Kirsty Coventry. She is likely to be replaced by her deputy, Tinoda Machakaire.
Machakaire – a close associate of the influential business tycoon Kuda Tagwirei – is angling for the top job.
“The issue here is that although the President liked Coventry in terms of the Sport and Arts portfolio, she is seen to have been found wanting in terms of the youth portfolio. Machakaire’s advantage is that he is more robust. He is seen as having the capability to mobilise youths and bring them over to the party. This is being done with 2023 general elections in mind,” a source said.
There is uncertainty about who will get the Foreign Affairs and International Trade portfolio although it’s touted that Mnangagwa is weighing up four options, including Coventry.
Checks are being made, at Mnangagwa’s behest, on the suitability of former African Union (AU) representative to the United States, Arikana Chihombori-Quao — a medical doctor and ultra-pan-Africanist.
Some members of Mnangagwa’s inner circle expressed reservations about her appropriateness given that she has frosty relations with the West because of her unbridled attacks on France’s continued milking of Francophone Africa’s resources.
In fact, she lost her ambassadorial post in 2019 after Western governments pressured the AU Commission to recall her over her strong views against France.
As such, sources said, consultations are underway with ambassador and permanent representative of Zimbabwe to the United Nations in New York, Frederick Shava. There are also suggestions to bring back former Foreign Affairs minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi.
“This is proving to be a real issue now given the options being weighed. At the end of the day, the President will make his choice,” added another source.
Mnangagwa is facing problems in replacing Matiza and has reportedly made consultations with Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena.
However, questions of conflict of interest arose since he runs a transport business and has interests in some companies involved in road construction.
The National Oil Infrastructure Company (Noic) chair Daniel Mckenzie Ncube is said to be under consideration.
Zanu-PF stalwarts are pushing for former finance minister Patrick Chinamasa to take over as Information minister from the passive Monica Mutsvangwa.
Mnangagwa, although relishing the idea because of Chinamasa’s highly abrasive approach to things, is unsure of what to do with Mutsvangwa, sources said.
“The dilemma here is that, basically, there are candidates for all the other ministries and although some have suggested she can be moved to replace Gwaradzimba in Manicaland. At the same time, it would not appear too well to just drop her from cabinet,” an official said.
The military command element is pushing for the ouster of Defence and War Veterans minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri. She, however, remains one of Mnangagwa’s key factional allies.
“The only ministers who appear safe are those at Industry and Commerce, State Security, Women’s Affairs, Lands and Agriculture, Home Affairs, ICT and Tourism,” another source said.

Trouble In Mwonzora’s Backyard
By A Correspondent- War is brewing in the MDC-T camp amid allegations that members of the party aligned to vice-president Thokozani Khupe are pushing to have party leader Douglas Mwonzora and his allies arrested for allegedly stealing millions of dollars from party coffers.
Party insiders said police had already recorded statements from key witnesses who received millions of dollars to buy foreign currency on the streets ahead of the opposition movement’s extraordinary congress last December.
MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube confirmed the plot against Mwonzora in a statement, where he accused the police of behaving unprofessionally.
“We are surprised that the police are being driven by certain activists who are unsuccessfully trying to extort the organisation,” Dube said.
“Equally shocking are WhatsApp chats circulating where certain members of the police were strategising with some activists who have no locus standi to represent our party.”
Police reports seen by NewsDay show that in the run-up to the party congress, $1,8 million was transferred to one Martha Munandi and another $1,75 million transferred to a CABS account belonging to a trust, while $2,8 million was transferred to a petroleum company with links to party treasurer-general Tapiwa Mashakada.
“We also know that these allegations are meant to forestall the external audit as ordered by the congress. They are meant to frustrate our fundraising efforts. We put it on record that all monies are fully accounted for and have been legally used,” Dube said.
Party secretary-general Paurina Mupariwa could neither confirm nor deny that the MDC-T bought forex on the black market.
“Where they got the foreign currency will be said in a full audit report. We are going to have an external report, why not wait for it and it will answer all the questions,” she said.
During the congress, Khupe accused Mwonzora of stealing money from the party, while Chief Ndlovu, the deputy treasurer-general confirmed that the party bought foreign currency.
A check with the foreign currency auction system shows no foreign currency bought by the party, suggesting the party went to the illegal market.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he was not yet sure if his team was working on the MDC-T fraud docket.-newsday

Cornered Zanu Pf MP Justice Mayor Wadyajena Trashes Senator Mbowa’s Allegations Of Soldiers Brutality
Gokwe-Nembudziya Member of Parliament, Justice Mayor Wadyajena (ZANU PF), has dismissed reports claiming that soldiers are brutalising citizens in his constituency in the name of enforcing the national lockdown.
Wadyajena said comments made by Indigenisation and Empowerment Parliamentary Portfolio Committee chairperson Senator Mbowa alleging military brutality on Gokwe communities are “mischievous and poisonous”.
He said:
It’s not surprising that her audio was first published by UK based online sites and well known Government critics before even being shared locally, a move calculated to bolster the UK’s defence on its imposition of sanctions on the aforementioned members of the Security Services on the basis of ‘human rights violations’.
These very damaging lies cannot and should not be ignored because of their broader implications locally and globally.
Wadyajena’s remarks follow the emergence of Senator Mbowa’s recorded phone call to Mr Govha, an official in the Office of the President and Cabinet, alleging that soldiers are terrorising the Gokwe Nembudziya community.
During the conversation, the senator threatened to call President Emmerson Mnangagwa himself if army brutality continues unabated.-statemedia

Over 3.5k Nabbed For Violating Lockdown Control Measures
By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has said over 3 500 people were arrested yesterday for various offences related to the violation of COVID-19 control measures.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said 894 people were arrested for failing to wear masks while 2 095 were nabbed for unnecessary movement.
This brings to 393 504 the cumulative total number of people who have been arrested for violating national lockdown measures since the onset of the national lockdown on 30 March 2020. Police said in the statement:
The ZRP confirms that on 04/02/21, 3 560 people were arrested for COVID-19 related contraventions, 894 were arrested for ‘failure to wear masks’ and 2 095 were arrested for ‘unnecessary movements’.
Since the onset of the national lockdown on 30/03/2020, a cumulative total of 393 504 people have been arrested for violating national lockdown measures. Most of those arrested were in violation of movement restrictions.
Members of the public are urged to comply with the measures put in place by Government to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
By October last year, the government had reopened most sectors of the economy as coronavirus infection rates had fallen to manageable levels.
However, on 5 January 2021, the government reimposed strict lockdown measures for a month in a bid to contain unprecedented COVID-19 infections which were threatening to spiral out of control.
The 30-day national lockdown was subsequently extended by another 10 days to 15 February 2021.
Woman Beaten For Cooking Sadza Without Consent
By A Correspondent- A misunderstanding over mealie-meal nearly turned tragic when a 34 year old man from Bulawayo’s Mzilikazi high density suburb hit his 37 year old sister in law with an iron rod on the head as punishment for asking why he had opened her mealie meal and prepared isitshwala without her say so.
This was heard when Andrew Sibanda appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Stephen Ndhlovu charged with physical abuse in contravention of the Domestic Violence Act.
He pleaded guilty and was remanded out of custody to 8 March on $5000 bail for sentencing. He was ordered not interfere with witnesses.
Circumstances are that on 27 January 2021 Sibanda, who was supposedly hungry, opened his sister-in-law Caroline Mackie‘s mealie-meal without her consent and prepared isitshwala.
The court heard that this however, didn’t go down well with Mackie who then confronted Sibanda and asked him why he had opened her mealie-meal without her consent.
A misunderstanding arose between the two parties and Sibanda started insulting Mackie saying she was a prostitute. Sibanda then went out of the house and came back armed with an iron bar which he used to strike Mackie once on the head.
Mackie, who sustained some injuries, went and reported the matter to the police, leading to Sibanda’s arrest and subsequent appearance in court.-bmetro

BREAKING: British Police Investigate Crimes Of Terrorism In Zimbabwe, the First Since 1979
By A Correspondent- London| Cecilia Chimbiri’s father, Henry, and other victims have tasked British Police to arrest Zimbabweans in UK who coordinated and encouraged the abduction of his daughter, and other attacks against citizens since 1 Aug 2018 to Feb 2021.

Mosimane Seeks To Overcome Mighty Bayern Munich

We Were Not Mentally Fresh – Klopp On Liverpool Loss To Brighton
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said his side was “not mentally fresh” as they lost 1-0 at home to Brighton on Wednesday.
Steven Alzate scored the only goal of the game ten minutes in the second half.
The defeat was the Reds’ second successive at Anfield after losing 1-0 to Burnley in late January.
Speaking after the match, Klopp said: It has been a really tough week with two away games, two very intense games.
“We looked really like we weren’t fresh enough, mentally and physically.
“There were a lot of moments where we gave the ball away too easily, in moments the boys looked tired mentally. I know they can pass the ball from A to B but it didn’t happen. We made it easy for Brighton, but they also did really well.
“Brighton deserved to win, no doubt about it. For me, it’s more important to find an explanation for why we lost this game and understand what happened here tonight. We didn’t look convincing.”
Liverpool are now seven points behind log leaders Manchester City, having played a game more.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Mutare Robbers Drive Off With Airtime Vendor’s Car, Money
An airtime vendor who operates at Sakubva Musika was robbed of his vehicle and money by two criminals who had hired him for a trip to Dangamvura Shopping Complex.
The complainant, Edmore Muzama (35) of Devonshire, Sakubva was left in the rain after the suspects drove off in his Toyota Corolla sedan.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luxson Chananda, confirmed the incident which happened on January 28.
He said the complainant was at Sakubva Musika Bus Terminus where he was selling airtime when he was approached by the robbers in the company of a foreign currency dealer only identified as Jimmy.
Jimmy who was together with the robbers told the complainant that the suspects wanted to hire him to Dangamvura Complex. They agreed on US$15 for the trip which was paid.
“The accused persons got into the complainant’s motor vehicle. One was seated on the front passenger’s seat, while the other one sat at the back. They drove to Dangamvura and just after Mukwena Businesss Centre, the suspects told the complainant that they had reached their destination
“They ordered Muzama to surrender everything after one of them pointed a pistol on him,” said Insp Chananda.
Muzama got out of the vehicle leaving the engine running.
He wrestled with one of the robbers outside while shouting for help.
No one came to his rescue as it was raining heavily.
The robbers overpowered him and drove away with his vehicle, leaving him at the crime scene.

More People Need To Be On That Sanctions List
By Sindile Ncube- This week the UK government added four more Zanu “satanists” on the targeted sanctions list. We thank the British government for this move.
However, I have to say it was disappointing to see that Nick Mangwana was not on the list. Everyone knows that guy is the mouthpiece or rather an*s out of which Zanu pf spews it’s trash.
He is Zanu’s chief propaganda agent, a man that defends Zanu so much and so consistently that he probably wears Zanu branded underwear.
When the military shot people after the 2018 election, Nick denied it. He defends the indefensible. He should be on the sanctions list and the British government should also revoke his British citizenship.
And to be honest, everyone who has money and a position of influence because of Zanu pf needs to be on the sanctions list.
Anyone who supports and defends the killing and abduction of innocent men and women should be put on the sanctions list.
Like I have been saying for a long time we need to compile a list of these people and send the intel to the west. These Zanu people enjoy deriving Zimbabweans of basic human rights, it’s time they experience what we feel, it’s time they lose the right to swan in and out of the country travelling to the West where they spend the money they steal from us,
Start with Mnangagwa.
Susan Mutami Trashes SB Moyo Links, Attributes Report To Mliswa’s “Fighting With The Dead”

By A Correspondent- Temba Mliswa’s ex lover Susan Mutami has trashed as false reports alleging that the late Sibusiso Moyo is father to her son.
Mutami said she did not know Moyo personally neither did she receive any money from him.
She said:
“He’s not even my son’s fathernor did i ever receive money from this mannor did i know him personally. Vanhu vasanyepa. It just shows how shallow @TembaMliswa is. He is fighting with the deadwho can’t defend themselves, Pathetic Journalism.”
The development comes following reports alleging that Mutami had said the late hero and foreign affairs minister Sibusiso Moyo was the father to her son and he had pampered her with a whooping US$40k to buy the duo’s baby preparation.
We republish below the report:
The late Foreign Affairs Minister retired Lieutenant-General Sibusiso Busi (SB) Moyo has been dragged into the fight between feuding former lovers Temba Mliswa and Susan Vivian Mutami.
Mutami who claims that she is 3-months pregnant with the MP’s twins, reportedly claims that she had a 12-year affair with SB Moyo which culminated in the birth of her now four-year-old son.
According to leaked WhatsApp chats between the former lovers, Mutami told Mliswa that the former army general had given her US$40,000 for the baby’s preparation after she fell pregnant.
Mutami revealed this to Mliswa, as she was not happy with his apparent lack of care for her wellbeing during her pregnancy.
To Mutami, the father of 18 was not showing the same level of care that she had received from the former army general when she was pregnant.
Online publication ZimLive reports that a furious Mutami told Mliswa:
“Sibusiso himself was there for Tendai’s first ultrasound. He flew me to Singapore so he could see his son, leaving his work while he was still at KG6,”
According to the report, she described Moyo as “my first love” and “the man that took my virginity.” She went on to reveal that SB Moyo was very generous and had given her US$40,000 for the baby’s preparation and sent her a helper for 6 months after the child was born.
She told Mliswa that she needed to maintain the same level of luxury for her other children. “I’m gonna need US$30k cash when I go back to Australia for preparation for the twins from you. They deserve to have nice things too and be born in luxury,” she said in one WhatsApp message.
“Tendai’s preparation cost me around US$40k. Things aren’t cheap in Australia. I need to keep that same standard for all my kids. They deserve to have the Stokke prams just like Tendai. And mamaroo’s and have everything tech-savvy. US$30k is decent enough for them. That’s an equivalent of 4 Chanel handbags.”
However, things between Mutami and Mliswa appear to have gone south, as Mutami felt neglected by the MP. One of her messages reads:
“I’m invisible to you… I have to send 60 messages for you to come home and f**** me. I’m hurt honestly. I’m going back to Australia we have no plan whatsoever for the twins. No daycare. I pay for my ultrasound and doctor’s appointment visits when you are there. Never have I seen you even contributing or even being concerned requesting for pics and all. This was a mistake Temba, and I need to fix it.”
“…bear in mind I’m only 32 and my sex drive is at its peak. I love having sex with someone that I have a connection with almost like every day.”
“One session every two weeks for me won’t do Shumba. No-one has ever f***** me the way you do. You calmed me down,”
She also repeatedly confessed her love for the MP, at one time saying:
“I’m the type of woman that would even bring another woman in bed for you to be happy and eat that ass and balls up. That’s how loyal I am to you but I am not getting that love back in return. Context being there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do for you. I’m hurt.”
However, Mliswa seems to have failed to reciprocate the feelings with the same intensity. Earlier this week, Mutami approached an online publication and made several sensational allegations against the MP.
She claimed that he was gay and had tried to bring another man to their bed. She also claimed that he is broke and that he makes his money through extortion.

Leprosy, Disability And Social Exclusion

Shamwari Yemwanasikana Calls On Parents To Protect Children’s Rights
By A Correspondent- Shamwari Yemwanasikana, a girls’ rights movement, has urged parents and guardians to protect children’s rights following an increase in the cases of child abuse that are circulating on social media.
In a statement this Friday, Shamwari Yemwanasikana expressed deep concern over the safety of children during this lockdown period.
The statement read:
Following three recent child abuse cases that we have come across on social media, one of which being a four-year-old infant who was being assaulted by the mother because she was having problems with the father, another one being a man who allegedly bashed his son to death after accusing him of stealing US$10 and the third one being of a Matabeleland North man who allegedly assaulted a minor and infected her with an STI.
… As a collective body making strides towards putting to an end all forms of abuse against children, we are deeply concerned about the welfare of children which remains to be an issue especially owing to the extended lockdown period as well as poverty which is also a strong factor behind violation of children’s rights in many circumstances.
The organisation further reiterated its abhorrence of all forms of abuse against children in whatever form and for whatever reasons.
It added:
We stand against child abuse inflicted on minors in any form, verbal, neglect, psychological, sexual as well as physical abuse.
We stand against lashing out on minors and venting out negative energy on them as they happen to be a weaker and less harmful stimulus by reasons of age We stand against using brutal measures in the form of punishing children for misbehaving and bad conduct.
We always encourage the use of negative reinforcement so as to discourage bad behaviour in children.
Child Abuse of any form has dire effects on child development and will consequently affect one’s adulthood as well.
Mwonzora Haunted By Fraud Allegations
By A Correspondent- Douglas Mwonzora who reportedly ordered that the MDC T pays one of their lawyers $300 000 is reportedly still being haunted by the alleged fraud issue that surfaced in December.
Other party members are still amplifying the allegations even though then party leader Thokozani Khupe cleared her of any wrongdoing in the matter, The Zimbabwe Independent reports.
This was revealed by Mwonzora’s spokesperson Witness Dube who told the publication that:
These people are amplifying their lies with more vigour and it must be clearly known that our president was cleared on these allegations long back.
They are designed to tarnish the image of the party and that of the winner of the historic extraordinary congress President Mwonzora. The congress dealt with the issue and concluded that they were false.
Our finances were above board. We are surprised that the police are being driven by certain activists who have been unsuccessfully trying to extort money from the organisation.
Dube who urged ZRP to not get involved in intraparty fightings and urged them to refer to Thokozani Khupe’s letter dated 16 December 2020 is maintaining that Mwonzora’s rivals are still amplifying the claims that Mzonzora siphoned money from the party’s coffers.-ZimIndependent

The Late SB Moyo Gave Lover US$40k For Baby’s Preparation, Susan Mutami Claims
By A Correspondent- The late Foreign Affairs Minister retired Lieutenant-General Sibusiso Busi (SB) Moyo has been dragged into the fight between feuding former lovers Temba Mliswa and Susan Vivian Mutami.
Zanu PF’s Obsession With Hiding Facts To Hide the regime’s blundering incompetence
By Wilbert Mukori- “If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull!” said W C Fields.
This Zanu PF government has mastered the art of baffling with bull to the t!
“Health and Child Care Deputy Minister Dr John Mangwiro yesterday dispelled assertions from some quarters that Government was understating the number of deaths from the deadly pandemic. He said such reports were false, mischievous and a clear attempt to cause alarm and despondency in the country,” reported The Herald.
“Government has got representation all over the country. Our health system is well organised from the minister, it goes to the deputy minister, permanent secretary and each town has got a representative and each province has a representative called a provincial medical director,” said the Deputy Minister.
“Our systems are so well organised, well-oiled such that we collect data easily. We get accurate figures and information every time we need it.”
The official corona virus cases and deaths are only of those who would have been tested for the virus and the result was positive. And so one can keep the figures down by reducing the number of corona virus tests carried out!
In December 2020, at the onset of the current corona virus wave, SA (whose corona virus cases will be similar to ours given the heavy human traffic, legal and illegal, across our common border) was carrying out over 44 000 test per day. Zimbabwe, with 1/4 SA’s population, should have ramped up its tests to 11 000 per day but only doing 1 500 tests, 10%, on a really busy day! Well one easy way.
Dadaya High School had corona virus cases and the powers that be send out 47 test kits when everyone of 1 000 students and staff could have been infected and therefore should have been tested. The school closed and every one was went back to their homes without ever being tested.
The consequence of failing to test, trace and track is that infected individuals who, if tested and found to have the virus would be put into isolation, are allowed to mix with the rest, freely. And thus, they would, unknowingly, spread the virus far and wide.
The World Health Organisation recommended that all those showing corona virus symptoms must be tested of the virus; that is common sense. The question the Deputy Minister of Health should have answered is why has Zimbabwe with it’s “well organised and well-oiled” system failed to test even those clear cut cases common sense would dictate must be tested?
Instead of answering the pertinent question the Deputy Minister of Health is now trying to bamboozle the nation with details of the data collecting chain of command. If tests were not being carried out then there is no data to be collected and so the efficiency or otherwise of the latter is of no consequence!
There is no doubt that Zimbabwe’s REAL corona virus cases and deaths are far higher than the official figures and it is the real figures that affect real people.
Zimbabwe was in a serious economic and political mess before the corona virus outbreak after 40 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and rank lawless under this Zanu PF dictatorship. And so with its economy in total meltdown and its health care services in shambles everyone knew the country was going to be hit very hard by the corona virus.
Now, it turns out, Zanu PF’s obsession with hiding facts to hide the regime’s blundering incompetence has turned the corona virus tragedy into a catastrophe of Biblical proportion!
Whilst few nations, if any have been spared corona virus’s devastating economic, health and death blows; there is no denying (Zanu PF’s pathetic attempts to understate the effects must be dismissed with the contempt they deserve) Zimbabwe has been crashed! All because the country has a corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical government and 40 years of misrule has left the nation economical and political weak and feeble!
If anything positive can ever be said to come out of the tragic human suffering and deaths brought on by corona virus; then it must be that the pandemic focused Zimbabweans to finally address the nation’s number one problem of bad governance.

Police Frown Over Corruption At Check Points
By Jane Mlambo| The Zimbabwe Republic Police has frowned at open corruption happening at security check points where citizens who are not part of non-essential services are gaining passage into central business districts of towns and cities.
In a statement on Thursday, police urged the public to take note that the country is still under lockdown which restricts unnecessary movement while warning those who violate restrictions that they face arrest.
“In Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare and Masvingo motorists are transporting commuters in open defiance of the lockdown measures. Motorists are warned against conniving with unruly security service members to gain passage at check points as they will be dealt with in terms of the law,” said police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

Man Killed By Hippos While Herding Cattle
By A Correspondent- An 81 year old man from Muzenda Village in Zaka, Masvingo Province, was mauled and trampled to death by a marauding hippopotamus in a bushy area while he was herding cattle.
A villager Pedzisayi Mapimbiro said the granddad, Langson Svondero Mangava was herding cattle with his grandson Wycliffe Mazhambe (29), when a hippopotamus appeared from the bush and charged at him.
“It was at around 05:30PM last week on Sunday when a hippopotamus emerged from the bush and charged at the pair. Mazhambe alerted his grandfather and took to his heels leaving him at the mercy of the wild animal,” said Mapimbiro.
He sprinted home and informed his relatives and villagers who armed themselves with axes and knobkerries and went to the scene.
“When they got there they were shocked to find him dead having been ravaged by the hippopotamus. But the hippopotamus had already disappeared,” said Mapimbiro.
Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed: “An 81-year-old man from Muzenda Village under Chief Nhema in Zaka was attacked to death by a hippopotamus. No foul play was suspected and a postmortem was waived by the magistrate.”
ZimParks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo also confirmed the incident: “We are on the ground investigating the matter. It is very unfortunate that we have lost a life in the human-wildlife conflict. The hippo mostly came from Chiredzi River and could have returned to the river,” he said.-statemedia
Man Beats Up Sister In Law For Preparing Sadza Without His Consent
We Deserve A Govt That Puts People First: Sikhala
By A Correspondent| MDC Alliance vice chairperson Job Sikhala has hit out at the President Emmerson Mnangagwa administration saying it is full of greed people with unsounded thirst for ridiculous pomp and foolish adulation.
Posting on Twitter, Sikhala said the people of Zimbabwe deserve a government that feels for its people instead of the current regime which is more concerned about lining its pockets.
“We have got a regime full of people engrossed in unsounded thirst for ridiculous pomp, foolish adulation & selfish greed. We deserve a gvt that feels for its people. That which put people first no matter the political color. Zimbabwe belongs to all of us. It is our love,” said Sikhala.
The combative Zengeza West legislator has been in and out of prison on various charges including subversion and communicating falsehoolds prejudicial to the state.
Man Waylays Granny, Rapes Her At Knife Point
By A Correspondent- A 30 year old man from Ngozi Mine squatter camp has been arrested for waylaying a 56-year-old granny and sexually assaulting her at knife point near her home.
A family member who spoke to B-Metro on condition of anonymity said the granny was walking towards her home at around 7:30PM last week on Sunday using a footpath when her neighbour Never Moyo (30) emerged from the bush and grabbed her by her neck.
The family insider said Never choked her while threatening to stab her to death if she dared to scream.
The granny whose name is withheld for ethical reasons tried to wrestle herself from his firm grip, but she failed.
It is alleged that Never used more force and pushed her to the ground.
He reached for his knife and pointed it at her while threatening to kill her if she refused to give in to his sexual demands.
Seeing that her life could be cut short, the source said the granny complied.
Never allegedly raped her once without protection. After the sexual ordeal he warned the granny not to tell anyone about the rape incident.
Lucky enough she had recognised his face and went to her home.
The following day she reported the matter at Cowdray Park police station leading to his arrest.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.-statemedia
Chiwenga Says Mandatory Cancer Screening Is On The Cards
It will be mandatory for Zimbabweans in certain age groups to be screened for cancers as a prevention and control strategy for the world’s second leading cause of deaths under plans now being considered and worked on.
The improved programme of screening is part of a wide range of action being taken by the Government to ensure cancer patients get quality care as early as possible.
Health and Child Care Minister, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga told the virtual World Cancer Day commemoration yesterday that screening and early treatment, coupled with the upgrade of Zimbabwe’s cancer treatment facilities, could cut death tolls.
Zimbabwe yesterday joined the rest of the world in commemorating the day which is set aside to embolden the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer. This year’s event ran under the theme, “I am and I will campaign for Prevention, Detection and Treatment of Cancer”.
VP Chiwenga said statistics from the World Health Organisation showed that cancer was the second leading cause of worldwide deaths after Covid-19 which recently doubled the casualty rate.
Officially launching the annual cancer awareness and screening campaign, Vice President Chiwenga highlighted some of the efforts being done to address the burden of cancer in Zimbabwe.
“My ministry is also updating the Zimbabwe Cancer Prevention and Control Strategy to make it mandatory for citizens to be screened for cancer in certain age groups, for example, prostate cancer for men aged 40 and above.
“There will also be training of oncologists and oncology nurses in Zimbabwe at the Parirenyatwa School of Nursing and College of Health Sciences and a mass immunisation programme for human papilloma virus, targeting girls aged between 10 and 14 years to protect them against development of cervical cancer,” said Vice President Chiwenga.
“We will have screening programmes for cervical cancer up to district health facility level. In the year 2020, 110 686 women were screened for cervical cancer. Out of the 5 883 who tested positive, 4 561 were treated and the treatment rate stood at 77,5 percent.”
Vice President Chiwenga said health authorities had established the cancer registry at Parirenyatwa Hospital, considered as one of the best in Africa in terms of collecting data on cancer, which together with Mpilo Hospital, has facilities for radiotherapy treatment.
“There will be roll out of the Palliative Care Programme to health facilities to ensure cancer patients have access to pain management, counselling and support services up to the rural health facility level.
“We will ensure inclusion of screening tools for cervical cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer in the electronic health records to ensure robust follow up of cancer patients,” said VP Chiwenga.
His ministry recognised all stakeholders and health care staff working tirelessly towards the successful execution of cancer programmes in Zimbabwe.
He said more effort was still required to ensure that citizens had access to world class cancer care.
He also reiterated that Covid-19 vaccine jabs will be administered for free on everyone willing to be immunised against the virus in the interest of public health.
“The Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe embarked on a deliberate programme to acquire more Covid-19 vaccines.
“My fellow Zimbabweans, let me also reiterate that the Government of Zimbabwe will roll out Covid-19 vaccines for free, to all our citizens who may wish to be vaccinated,” said VP Chiwenga. “The policy is inspired by humane morals that life should not be bought.”
Vice President Chiwenga said the emergence of new strains accelerated the progression of a second wave at the close of last year and beginning of this year.
“Consequently, an upward trend in confirmed cases, active cases and deaths were recorded in Zimbabwe. In response to the growing threat to public health, the Government of Zimbabwe forged synergies with friendly states, civil society organisations, strategic partners, corporates and the generality of our Zimbabweans to combat the pandemic,” said VP Chiwenga.
“We welcome and are very grateful to the Peoples’ Republic of China for their donation of the Covid-19 vaccines to Zimbabwe. The landmark gesture will achieve a milestone in combating the pandemic.”

Leaked Chats Expose Businessman Who “Pimped” Lover
By A Correspondent- Bhekisisa Bhebhe has not only been bonking a number of women, but was at one time pimping out his longtime girlfriend to different men including his friends, after which he would ask her to give him intimate details of her sexual escapades with them.
Your significant other is supposed to love and protect you from the dangers of the world but Bhebhe, a rare breed of a man, did the opposite to his young girlfriend as he would identify men for her to seduce.
WhatsApp chats that B-Metro is in possession of, reveal Bhebhe to be a man who gets off from his girlfriend’s sexual exploits. Instead of discouraging her from being promiscuous, the Plumtree businessman even persuaded her to try having sexual orgies with him and his friends.
At first, the girlfriend named Sikhue, refused to do so as she said that she only wanted to be with him, but after much cajoling, the love-struck woman agreed to his requests. It is not known if the orgies happened as the chats did not reveal.
The chats also indicate that Bhebhe and Sikhue’s sexual appetite was too high as they shared sordid details of the number of partners they had slept with and were targeting to sleep with.
Bhebhe is legally married to Rebecca Bhebhe, a medical doctor based in Britain. The wife filed for divorce.

Three Chegutu Dams Burst Walls, Livestock Washed Away
At least five goats were swept away and an unknown number of hectares of crops were destroyed after three dams near Pickstone Mine in Chegutu burst their walls on Wednesday.

The dams, Farnam, Masterpice and Maradhadi provide drinking water to more than 200 households in Chegutu district’s Wards 24 and 25.
The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA)’s corporate communications and marketing manager, Mrs Marjorie Munyonga could not be reached for comment.
Chegutu Rural District Council acting chief executive officer, Mr Admire Machingura confirmed the bursts.
“The dams are used to support irrigation purposes, for livestock, human consumption and mining activities.
“At least 200 households and a number of small scale miners have so far been affected.
“We are hearing reports that the bursts have also resulted in the destruction of crops and death of livestock,” he said.
One Farnam villager, Mr Reason Chigogo said at least five goats from his village were swept away.
“Most farmers who have their fields close to the dams lost their crops when the dams burst their walls and for now, it is still early to give the number of hectares affected and that of animals killed although five goats from Farnam were swept away,” Mr Chigogo said.
Mr Machingura said while efforts were being put in place to address the challenge, the council had also acquired a transformer to help draw water from Mupfure River to Clifford Dam which also burst its walls recently.
The dam is used to support some suburbs under the council.

Shock As Murder Victim Exposes Killer Brother
By A Correspondent- A murder victim’s spirit testified to family members about its own heartless death and revealed that its body was killed by its brother who removed the heart and a finger and gave to an nyanga after the callous act.
The shocking incident happened last week during a church service in Manamike Village, Gokwe Midlands Province.
The spirit spoke through the murderous brother, William Ngara.
William has not led a peaceful life since 2002 after he allegedly killed his younger brother Andrew Ngara in Zambia and removed the heart and cut off his finger and gave it to an nyanga who had advised him to do so in order to be rich.
To get rid of the troubling spirit, William sought help at a church led by Prophet Takawira. During a church service the spirit spoke through him (William) saying he killed his younger brother (Andrew) in Zambia.
After coming out of the trance, William did not deny that he killed his brother.
The village head of Manamike Village accompanied William to his father Thomas Ngara to confess and ask for forgiveness.
A family spokesperson, Joseph Ngara told B-Metro that his brother William Ngara arrived home carrying a cock.
“During the meeting that was attended my father and other family members William confessed to the family that he killed our sibling Andrew Ngara in Zambia after he consulted an nyanga to gain wealth and have a lot of cattle. The nyanga told him to bring a heart and finger of a family member thereafter he will have a lot cattle,” he said.
Joseph added: “He asked for forgiveness. He then asked my father to fine him while vowing that he would pay to appease him. But the father said he had to bring the bones of the late from Zambia after that they can talk about appeasement.”
He said they reported the matter at Manoti police station.
“Police asked him (William) to explain what happened but he stammered and fell in trance-like state saying forgive me and started to roll on the ground.
“The police ordered us to return home. We would return after the enforced lockdown and hopefully we will get assistance so that we will travel to Zambia because we want closure to this matter,” he said.
William was not reachable on his mobile phone.
Efforts to get a comment from Midlands police spokesperson Chief Inspector Joel Goko were fruitless as his mobile number was not reachable
Govt Hikes Fuel Price Again

Man Rapes Three Minors Over Sweets
By A Correspondent- A Bulawayo man has been arrested for allegedly defiling three minor girls including his sister after he tied each girl’s hands and legs with a shoelace and placed them on his bed where he took turns to rape them.
It is reported that the 24-year-old alleged rapist from West Somerton suburb invited the three minor girls who were playing outside his house into his room claiming he wanted to give them sweets.
Following his arrest, it also emerged that he had been bedding one of the girls aged 12, who is also his neighbour, since 2017 when she was eight-years-old.
Allegations against the accused are that the girls were playing outside his house when he called them to his room saying he wanted to give them sweets.
It is reported that the seemingly unsuspicious girls rushed to enter his room as he always gives them sweets whenever he called them to his room.
It is alleged that when the three minor girls entered his room, he immediately locked the door and took three t-shirts from his wardrobe and placed them on his bed. It is further alleged that he then tied each victims’ hands and legs with shoelaces. To stop them from screaming for help he is said to have covered their mouths with the t-shirts.
After he tied them tightly, he then commanded the minor girls to lie on the bed facing upwards. He then stripped them naked before he allegedly raped them one by one.
The matter however, came to light on 20 December 2020, after one of the girls, who had been sexually abused since 2017, reported the matter to her sister.
This was after the accused on the day in question forcibly dragged the girl into his room where he later tried to strip her naked while threatening to stab her with a kitchen knife.
The minor girl reportedly screamed attracting the attention of her sister who quickly came to the accused’s room and found him struggling to remove her underwear. He reportedly bolted out of the room and fled.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the alleged rapist.
Following his arrest, it was also discovered that sometime in 2019 when she was 10-years-old, the accused sexually abused her after she was sent by her grandmother to call him so that he can drive her to the clinic.
When she arrived at his room, the accused is alleged to have forcibly pushed the girl into his room and raped her once.
The alleged rapist, who was not asked to plead to three counts of rape and one charge of indecent assault, is languishing in remand prison after Bulawayo magistrate Stephen Ndhlovu remanded him in custody to 8 March 2021.-statemedia
Luke-ing the Beast in the Eye: The Midway Mark Into Mnangagwa’s Stolen Term Of Lies—A Citizen’s Audit
This week, as we mark the midway mark into his stolen mandate, I hereby chronicle the 15 unfulfilled promises, nay the 15 lies, that Mnangagwa told the world, in his own words , at his inauguration at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday, 26 August 2018.

Sophia Mazhindu (27) got wind that her husband constable Panganayi Matura (34) was slicing a woman that he works with. However, that did not sit well with her.
The court was told that the furious Sophia strapped her little child on her back and headed to his work station at Ross Camp and found him glued on the computer.
The prosecutor Hardlife Mhaka said:
“She asked him to go home since he had dismissed from work and her husband said he was busy researching towards his studies as such he will come later. Sophia put the little child on the floor and left in a huff going home.”
Surprised by the awkward behaviour that was displayed by his wife, Matura picked the child and followed Sophia while begging her to take the child while he remained behind, but his wife was unmoved, the court heard.
“When they got to their place, it is said, his angry wife turned on him and punched him all over the body with fists and head-butted him once on the forehead.
When he tumbled on the floor, his wife dashed to the kitchen and armed herself with a kitchen knife. Matura quickly picked himself up and ran to a police station to report his marauding wife. Sophia appeared before Tredgold magistrate courts.- B-Metro

Mliswa Calls For The Arrest Of Journalist Who Colluded With Ex- Lover Susan Mutami
The drama between Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa and his estranged lover Susan Vivian Mutami has threatened to take a nasty turn. This comes after Mutami sensationally claimed that she is in posession of the legislator’s nudes and bedroom tapes.
However, the 32-year-old health care professional who says that she is 3 months pregnant with Mliswa’s twins said that she would not release the adult material for the sake of her unborn twins. Mutami who has been setting social media ablaze with her sensational allegations wrote on Twitter:
“I have Temba nudes and sex videos but I will not post them here because I need to protect the integrity of my unborn twins Temba Mliswa needs professional help,”
Following what seems to have been an acrimonious breakup, Mutami and Mliswa have been engaged in a heated battle with both of them making damning allegations against each other. Mutami claimed that she dumped Temba after he tried to bring another man into their bed. She also sensationally claimed that the firebrand MP is gay and that he is in the habit of sleeping with his subordinates.
In response to the allegations, Mliswa claimed that Mutami is a “bitter slay queen” who is being used by his political rivals to tarnish his image.
Speaking to ZimLive, Mliswa said:
“Miami’s allegations are false, if she had my private videos she would be circulating them by now but what we are witnessing is only her nude videos and pictures circulating on social media,”
Mliswa also slammed Zimbabweans for showing undue interest in his bedroom issues while cheerfully neglecting important national issues like corruption and development.
“I am worried about the psyche of Zimbabwean citizens to show keen interest over private matters instead of issues of national development and corruption. It really shows we need more psychiatrists in this country.
“We should be worried and querying modalities, practicality, and accessibility of the vaccine for example. Mutami is a bitter slay queen fabricating falsehoods with the aid of state agents associated with some cabinet ministers who harbour bad blood because I expose their corrupt dealings,” Mliswa charged.
Mliswa also called for the arrest of the journalist who first published his issues with Mutami, accusing the scribe of publishing falsehoods and of being unethical.
“I am concerned about the journalistic ethics by a journalist who ran an unbalanced article bent to soil my image as a public official.
“I was never reached for a comment being vocal as I am. If the likes of Hopewell Chin’ono can be arrested for publishing falsehoods the same principle should also apply to the unethical journalist who colluded with Mutami to publish false fabrications,”

Police Anticipates Violent 2023 Polls
By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police is reportedly anticipating the upcoming 2023 polls to be violent due to the country’s political instability since the last elections in 2018, Newsday reports.
This was reportedly contained in a strategizing document by the ZRP code-named the ZRP Horizon 2025 which maps the organization’s plan for the next 5 years and uses the document to request for money from the government.
The document reads in part:
The period 2021 to 2025 is anticipated to be punctuated by political (in)stability even though the 2018 harmonised elections left some sections of the society disgruntled.
Consequently, polarisation and tension remain evident as they continue to dominate the social and mass media. Therefore, since the planning period ahead also has harmonised elections slated for 2023, an increase in tension and political contestation is expected.
According to the publication, Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe reportedly said the government is aware of the requirements of the police:
Police officers need to have modern tools of the trade and resources at their disposal if they are to outmanoeuvre criminal propensity and sophistry.
Similarly, concerted efforts will relentlessly be made by the government to avail the requisite resources which include modern policing technology gadgets and equipment in order to operationalise this strategy.
The publication spoke to one of the junior police officers who said the document did not cater to the welfare of the police officers which might lead to some bad policing like taking bribes among other things in order to improve their welfare.
ZRP has over the past few years brutally dealt with the public especially when dispersing crowds of protestors or people who are found on the other side of the law for one reason or another.
