One Word To Describe This Ferret Criminal Called Tinashe Jonas Who Organised Mnangagwa’s Anti-Sanctions March Yesterday.
Culpable Homicide Charges For Cal Vin Killer

Police in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for the driver who hit and killed celebrated Hip Hop artist and producer Mgcini Calvin Nhliziyo before fleeing the scene.
Nhliziyo (34) was killed in a hit and run accident a few meters away from his home in Luveve suburb on Saturday night while coming from watching a televised football match at Cricket sports club in Emakhandeni.
Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said investigations are underway.
“On October 25 2020 and at around 0000 hours a fatal road traffic accident occurred along Ngulukhundwane road near house number 5499 Luveve 5, Bulawayo where one person was killed,” said Ass Insp Msebele.
“Circumstances around the matter are that the driver was driving due west along Ngulukhundwane road near house number 5499 Luveve 5, Bulawayo when he hit Nhliziyo who was crossing the same road due north. The driver did not stop after the accident.”
Ass Insp Msebele said Nhliziyo sustained serious head injuries and he died on admission at Mpilo hospital.
“The cause of the accident was due to failure to keep a proper look out. A charge of “Culpable Homicide” as defined in section 49 of the criminal law (codification and reform) act,” she said.
LIVE NEWS REVIEW- MNANGAGWA’S JSC SKIPS ED’S MALABA, SUSPENDS SIKHALA JUDGE | SCHOOLS OPEN WITHOUT ANY TEACHERS
Video loading below please be patient…

26 October 2020
By Dr Takafira Zhou | Education officials toured schools last week and saw that more than 93% of teachers (including school heads) were not in schools. Surprisingly, these officials through their head, Minister Matema, declared that schools were ready for second phase re-opening of schools for grade 6, form 3 and L6th. One wonders whether Hon Matema uses a dictionary of fools, assuming there is one.
It is clear that the Ministry officials and Hon Minister are either taking Zimbabweans for fools, are at best engaged in fantasy and drama or
they are simply cut off from reality in schools. Let the Minister be reminded that even if ministry officials would get helicopters for monitoring, the situation in school would remain the same. How does monitoring capacitate an incapacitated teacher, we wonder? Is Matema implying that President Mnangagwa who acknowledged the genuineness of teachers’ grievences when he presented SONA, was engaging in homiletic bellicose?
As if it is not enough, Minister Matema talks of increased surveillance in schools this week and gap filling. Which gap Hon Minister? Minister Matema has confirmed the exorbitant increase of fees, and equally puzzling is his assertion that no parents complained at such fees. The Minister is certainly guilt of selective forgetfulness. Teachers are parents too and have constantly reminded him of the exorbitant fees beyond their reach. The minister is therefore economic with the truth.
Minister Matema recently claimed he was not concerned with teachers’ incapacitation because he is not their employer. Has he, therefore, become an employer overnight now that he talks of replacing incapacitated teachers?
It is clear, Minister Matema has become a liability to the education system and unless he is stopped forthwith, his cold and calculated education vandalism will have disastrous effects soon.
Fellow teachers Minister Matema has unilaterally declared war on us for no apparent reason as we have not thrust incapacitation upon ourselves. Rather it is the gvt that thrust incapacitation upon us by unilaterally reducing the purchasing power of our salaries from US$520-US$550 to US$40. The only language that Hon Matema may understand is decisive incapacitation action by teachers across the country. Lets take our incapacitation struggle to the highest level, and let every community reverberate with voices of incapacitation. A 0% presence in schools is the only language Matema may understand so well. We cannot be treated as if we are of no account.
There are several reported cases of covid 19 in schools. Sadly, the Ministry is silent on such cases. We reiterate that our heath and safety matter and we will resist attempts to drive us to death traps. The acquisition and placement of testing kits and other PPEs in schools is long overdue.
As much as many parents may have sent their children to school, we hereby reiterate that there will be no learning as teachers will be conspicuous by their absence due to incapacitation. Never say we did not warn you. You have put the life of your child in danger as schools are fast becoming places of sexual orgies and drug abuse in the absence of teachers. To those who have not sent their children, keep them safe in your homes and hold on to the fees a little longer.
We reiterate our readiness to report for work as soon as our welfare, health and safatey concerns are addressed. The raising of fees in boarding schools is tailor-made to ensure that the children of poor (like teachers) should not be brought out of the social environment to which they belong. This must be resisted by the generality of Zimbabweans as education is fast becoming a preserve of the rich as opposed to a right enshrined in the constitution.
We reiterate our commitnent to meaningful dialogue not through the surrogate Apex but the United Front of Teacher Unions. The country can only be taken forward by those who understand the aspirations of teachers as a vital cog of national development, and speak the language of common people. As incapacitated teachers we know we are right and Hon Matema is wrong. We, therefore, will continue in our incapacitation mode until gvt calls for meaningful dialogue with us. No amount of threat can capacitate us. We have nothing to fear except incapacitation, poverty and fear itself. Its game on, let the incapacitation of teachers be more visible through our actions. Let all teachers be part of a solution and not part of our problems.

One Person Unaccounted For After A Small Aircraft Crashes In The Zambezi Valley In Victoria Falls.
Paul Nyathi

One person is reported to have died, two survived and one is unaccounted for after a Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) hired small plane crashed in the Zambezi Valley on Friday, sources have revealed.
The Cessna 182 small plane is reported to have gone down on Friday with two South Africans and two Zimbabweans on board in a mountainous area between Chirundu and the Zambezi Valley.
Hampered by thick forests and mountains, the searchers were frustrated until Sunday when another pilot spotted the wreckage.
ZimParks sources said that one person died on the spot, while two were injured. A third, described as a spotter, is reported to have walked away from the wreckage to seek help – but has not been seen or heard from since.

ZIMRA Declares A Boom After Lockdown Restrictions Were Scaled Down
Paul Nyathi

The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority says it collected 57 billion Zimbabwe dollars ($701 million) for the third quarter, surpassing the target of 44.83 billion Zimbabwe dollars, after coronavirus restrictions were eased.
“Covid-19 lockdown conditions were relaxed, enabling more businesses to resume operations, thereby enhancing their ability to meet their tax obligations,” Josephine Matambo, the authority’s vice board chairperson, said in an emailed statement on Sunday.
“Furthermore, the monetary policy interventions that were done during this period inflated the amounts to be collected, resulting in a corresponding positive impact to the revenues,” according to the statement.
Mining royalties and withholding taxes missed the quarterly targets due to “operational challenges” in the mining sector caused by energy shortages and Covid-19, the statement said.
Wife To Man Who Bedded Chinotimba’s Wife Aplogises On Behalf Of Her Wayward Husband.
Correspondent

THE wife to the man alleged to have been caught in bed with MP Joseph Chinotimba’s second wife pleaded for forgiveness soon after the fracas.
Mai Mahachi begged MP Chinotimba for forgiveness on behalf of her husband saying the latter could have lost feelings for her.
She was speaking at Milton Park Police station where the two couples had been taken for counselling.
“VaChinotimba ndinokumbirawo ruregerero nezvaitwa nemurume wangu zvekusvika pakusatya kana kukuremekedzai,” said Mai Mahachi.
“I want to believe he did it in foolishness or he might have lost feelings for me leading him to salivate for someone’s wife as if I was not available.
“Probably I failed to sexually satisfy him.
“His reason to date a married woman might be because I no longer look attractive but he married me and went on to give vows before a minister of religion only to act different today because of Mai Chinotimba.
“I have handed him the ring he gave me. I had been warned by one of the prophets that he had lost faith and was cheating but I did not take it seriously.
“To be honest with you this will not go unpunished. Ndakaudzwa kuti usarega muroyi achirarama.
“I will definitely retaliate by leaving someone injured I swear.
“VaChinotimba, murume wangu anobva kuChivhu mudzimai wenyu anobva Buhera saka vanhu ava ndevezhira imwe chete.
“My God will surely strengthen and guide me although my husband has decided to fight the spirit of God by engaging in evil acts,” said Mai Mahachi.
She wrestled with police officers demanding to accompany Mahachi to Maridale Park in Norton where they reside.
“Why do you want me to sit behind him when the front seat is for me not for Mai Chinotimba?” shouted Mai Mahachi.
Mahachi and his wife were led by two police officers in separate vehicles to Maridale Park as they sensed danger after the latter threatened to deal with her husband.
Mahachi clashed with MP Chinotimba after he was allegedly caught kissing and caressing the latter’s second wife Locardia Dzvitiro.
Dzvitiro has since been ordered to leave MP Chinotimba’s house in Belvedere.
Mnangagwa Thanks China And Russia For Speaking Against Zim Sanctions
Correspondent

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Sunday thanked China and Russia for standing by Zimbabwe in its consistent call for the unconditional removal of Western sanctions.
In a speech to mark the Southern African Development Community (SADC) anti-sanctions day, Mnangagwa paid tribute to the two countries, SADC, the African Union, and other countries around the globe for their support.
“The People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation, among other nations, have been our dependable pillars for many years,” said the president.
“These nations not only assisted us in our fight for independence, but equally assisted us to defend our sovereignty against the sustained onslaught by our detractors,” Mnangagwa said.
He also thanked United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet for adding their voice on sanctions removal.
Mnangagwa commended the European Union (EU) for taking some positive steps towards normalizing relations with Zimbabwe.
Last year, the SADC declared October 25 as the regional anti-sanctions day, on which SADC member states would collectively call for unconditional lifting of illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe.
Mnangagwa said the Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act and Executive Orders by the U.S. government have constrained development in Zimbabwe for nearly 20 years.
“The cumulative effect of these illegal sanctions has been devastating in every sector of our economy. Furthermore, sanctions have limited Zimbabwe’s capacity to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mnangagwa said.
“We are grateful to those nations and organizations who have stood by us and supported us in fighting the pandemic,” he added.
Earlier this month, China’s envoy to the UN criticized the U.S. and Western countries for violating human rights and called for the complete and immediate lifting of unilateral sanctions at the General Debate of the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly.
Zhang Jun, China’s permanent representative to the UN, made the statement on behalf of 26 countries, including Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Belarus, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, China, Cuba, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Iran, Laos, Myanmar, Namibia, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, South Sudan, Sudan, Suriname, Syria, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
Bushiri And Wife Back In Court For Bail Ruling

JOHANNESBURG – Self-proclaimed Prophet, Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary, are expected to find out if they will be released on bail.
Bushiri handed himself over to the police on Tuesday, while his wife, Mary, was arrested.
They are facing charges of fraud, theft, and money laundering to the value of over R100-million.
The State which is opposing bail says it needs more time to investigate but, the Bushiris contend they can not be held while investigations continue.
Next Year’s Examination Classes Back At School

Next year’s examination classes — Grade Six, Form Three and Form Five — return to school today, with the Government assuring parents that all necessary precautions have been taken to minimise the risk of Covid-19 infection.
This follows the return of three examination classes four weeks ago near the end of September, with the precautions so far working, thus allowing the second phase with the final nine classes returning on November 9.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education set standard operating procedures for all schools to guide the safe reopening of schools in the Covid-19 environment.
Ahead of the reopening today, parents and guardians yesterday were taking their children enrolled in boarding schools in Form Three and Form Five to the designated bus stops set by the schools.
Scores of pupils converged at the Harare Exhibition Park, the Civic Centre car parks off Abdel Gamal Nasser Road and Mbare Musika in Harare and Bulawayo City Hall car park and between 8th and 9th Avenue along George Silundika Street in Bulawayo waiting for transport.
Some parents made last-minute shopping before their children boarded their school buses. Pupils were sanitised and had temperatures checked before boarding.
In Gweru, Grade Six, Form Three and Five pupils at boarding schools such as Stanley Primary School, Regina Mundi and Thornhill High School arrived at school yesterday afternoon ahead of today’s reopening.
Some school authorities were cashing in on the Covid-19 by forcing parents and guardians to buy school-branded masks for as much as US$5.
Parents who spoke to The Herald in Harare yesterday complained that some schools had unilaterally increased fees, a move they said was not justified considering that the country was not in an inflationary environment.
Some parents implored school authorities not to turn away children whose parents had not yet paid fees.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Cain Mathema said Government was prepared for the second phase of schools reopening.
He said the ministry would continue exercising caution in view of Covid-19 as it did with the running of the Zimsec June examinations and first phase of schools opening.
Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education director of communications Mr Tongoona Ndoro said: “The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is ready to provide a wholesome education for all Zimbabweans through an education system that is competence-driven and that is accessible, affordable and enables citizens to participate in the socio-economic transformation of the nation,” he said.
Mr Ndoro said it was illegal for schools to demand personal protective equipment from parents.
“We are investigating the issue where schools are said to be forcing parents to buy face masks at exorbitant prices,” he said.
Teachers and pupils are expected to quickly adapt to the new normal to minimise the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is mandatory for learners to wear masks while handshakes, hugs and sharing of desks and textbooks have been banned as part of Covid-19 prevention measures.
JSC Insists That Justice Ndewere Must Be Put Under A Tribunal For Possible Dismissal
State Media

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended a tribunal to investigate whether or not High Court judge Justice Erica Ndewere was fit to hold office after discovering she was not clearing her workload in reasonable time and that she had not properly studied the file on a thief’s conviction and sentence when she set aside a jail term.
There is no suggestion of improper conduct in the commission’s recommendation, just that the judge is not up to the standard expected by not reading files properly and delaying matters way beyond permitted limits.
In the case of setting aside the jail term of a thief, Justice Ndewere reviewed the decision of a Marondera magistrate to lock up Kenneth Majecha (21) for theft and referred the case back to the lower court for re-sentencing, recommending community service for Majecha, whom she referred to as a youth and a first offender.
But she was wrong about the Majecha being a first offender.
He had three previous convictions and the court record showed this and included copies of the required certificates.
In fact, in giving reasons for the jail term, the magistrate highlighted Majecha’s three previous convictions together with their case numbers.
According to the trial record, which was also brought before the High Court for review, Majecha was convicted for housebreaking and sentenced to eight months in prison in 2016. In 2017, Majecha was sentenced to a wholly suspended two-year prison term but the same year was back in court, convicted of robbery and jailed for an effective 26 months.
The JSC contends the judge decided on the case without fully reading the record of proceedings, the trial magistrate’s reasons for sentence and the attached certificates of previous convictions.
“Had she done so, these would have dissuaded her from making the order she did,” reads JSC’s first complaint against the judge.
But the quashing of the sentence did not affect the prisoner. He had already served his full sentences by the time the judge made her review.
“Despite receiving the record for review on May 9 2019, the judge failed to action the file until October 22 2019 when the review minute was issued. A period of five months lapsed without the proceedings being reviewed. The accused had already served the full term of imprisonment by the time the review minute was released,” reads the second complaint.
“The judge’s performance has failed to meet the expected standard of a judge,” reads JSC’s third complaint.
By June 30 last year, Justice Ndewere reportedly had 12 reserved judgments which had gone for at least two years without a determination. Failure to deliver a reserved judgment within a period of 90 days is a breach of the JSC (Code of Ethics) Regulations of 2012.
By May 18 this year, Justice Ndewere had 28 pending cases with judgments having been reserved for periods stretching from nine to 24 months.
Meanwhile, Justice Ndewere is battling to stop President Mnangagwa from constituting the tribunal the JSC desires.
Through Sawyer & Mkushi Legal Practitioners, Justice Ndewere seeks an order stopping the set up of the tribunal on the basis that if the tribunal is set up she will be automatically suspended, causing her irreparable damage, as well as he belief that “the setting up a tribunal is wrong factually, procedurally and on points of law”.
Justice Ndewere believes she is being victimised.
“In my view, (Chief Justice Luke Malaba) is victimising me for refusing to follow his unlawful instruction which he issued in August 2019 in connection with the bail matter I handled that month. This is why even before I had explained the Kenneth Majecha review in June 2020, the (Chief Justice) told the (Judge President George Chiweshe) to tell me that he wanted to take me to the tribunal.”
She said her application for a court order preventing President Mnangagwa from setting up the tribunal was the only course of action open to her to keep her job.
Health Ministry Says Matopo High School Girl Did Not Die Of Covid-19 While Another Family Member Reportedly Also Dies With Covid-19 Symptoms
Paul Nyathi

THE Ministry of Health and Child Care says that a Form Four pupil from Matopo High School who died over the weekend did not succumbed to the Covid-19.
The girl who presented Covid-19 like symptoms at school was rushed to Bulawayo on Friday and died on Saturday afternoon at her Nketa home.
Despite rumours that the girl had succumbed to the global pandemic, the ministry said the girl tested Covid-19 negative posthumously.
The development forced the school authorities to postpone the return of Form Three and Five pupils who were supposed to return to the school yesterday ahead of the reopening today.
Bulawayo acting provincial medical director Dr Welcome Mlilo said the girl did not die of a Covid-19 related illness.
“I can confirm that the pupil from Matopo High School in question did not die from a Covid-19 related illness. The Bulawayo City Rapid Response Team collaborating with physicians from United Bulawayo Hospitals have investigated this death and the Covid-19 test is negative.”
Meanwhile, highly placed sources have told ZimEye.com that an elderly member of the family also died with Covid-19 symptoms late on Saturday.
The family member reportedly lived in the same family home with the deceased student.
More details on the latest death in the family to follow.
ZANU PF MP Just Collapsed And Died

Zanu PF Member of the National Assembly for Mwenezi East Jusby Omar has died.
He died yesterday after suffering a heart attack. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Makurira Memorial Clinic.
Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira confirmed Omar’s death.
The minister said Zanu PF and Government had lost a stalwart committed to helping Masvingo and the nation at large achieve President Mnangagwa Vision 2030.
“It’s true we have received the sad news of the passing on of Omar this evening around 6pm today (yesterday) after he suffered a heart attack and was pronounced dead on arrival at Makurira Memorial Clinic.
“As Zanu PF and also Government we have lost a fighter and dedicated cadre committed to the socio-economic upliftment of the people of Masvingo in general, and Mwenezi in particular. We have been robbed of a true son of the soil and a patriotic cadre who loved his country,” he said.
Minister Chadzamira described Omar as one of the foot soldiers who gave impetus to the drive to achieve Vision 2030.
Omar was first elected Mwenezi East legislator in 2017 in a parliamentary by-election held following the death of Joshua Moyo.
He was to successfully win re-election in the 2018 harmonised polls.
“We Wanted R400 000 But Settled For R250 000,” Senzo Meyiwa’s Hired Killers Arrested

Six years after former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead at the house of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in Ekurhuleni, police have made a breakthrough and arrested five men believed to have been the hitmen.
Sunday Independent can exclusively reveal that the arrest warrants of the five alleged hitmen, whose names are known to this newspaper, were obtained on Wednesday.
They were signed by advocate Sibongile Mzinyathi, the director of public prosecutions in the Gauteng division of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
“A succinct summary of the facts and reasons for this decision are set out in the attached memorandum by the team that was assigned the matter. The investigating officer will be collecting the docket from this office for purposes of finalising the outstanding investigations, and also facilitating the first appearance of the suspects in court,” read Mzinyathi’s letter, dated October 21, 2020.
The suspects, who are said to be in jail for other crimes already, are expected to appear in court this week on charges of murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and the contravention of firearm laws.
National police spokesperson, Brigadier Vish Naidoo, yesterday said he could not comment. “A lot of damage has been done on this case and, therefore, I can’t make any comment about it,” Naidoo said.
However, Sunday Independent sources said the main suspect who pulled the trigger that ended Meyiwa’s life, was arrested on June 16 this year in Rustenburg, North West. He was a mine worker in Carletonville on the Gauteng West Rand.
The man is said to have admitted to killing Meyiwa to an independent police officer, after his arrest.
The man is said to have confessed that he and his friends were hired to kill Meyiwa on October 18, 2014.
The man told the investigators that they were promised R250000 for the hit, even though they had initially demanded R400000, due to Meyiwa’s high profile status, the sources said.
In his confession, the man is also said to have claimed that he had shot Meyiwa when the soccer star tried to hit him with a chair.
The second suspect was arrested on June 22 at a hotel in Ekurhuleni, East of Johannesburg, after police followed him from Nongoma, KwaZuluNatal. He was allegedly found with an unlicensed firearm. The third suspect, who is also a mine worker, was nabbed last December also in Carletonville.
At the time of the incident, it was claimed that unknown people had entered the (Khumalo) house intending to rob the occupants and made off with cellphones.
The apparent confession of the triggerman has blown the lid on the intricate plot and the identity of the person who commissioned the “hit”.
At the centre of the plot is believed to be money that Meyiwa had allegedly promised someone but never fulfilled. The individual is known to the publication but can’t be named yet as police are continuing with the investigations.
A report seen by the publication further revealed that police also found the gun that was allegedly used to kill Meyiwa in a safe at Cleveland Police Station, in Johannesburg, in July this year – after following a lead.
Sunday Independent understands that police are still investigating whether any of the people who were in the house when Meyiwa was shot, can be charged or linked to his murder.
NPA spokesperson Sipho Ngwema, yesterday couldn’t confirm nor deny that Meyiwa’s alleged killers would appear in court before the end of the week.
He added that the NPA did not issue or execute warrants of arrests. “The NPA neither issues nor executes warrants. Further, we can only arrange for the appearance of accused persons once there are suspects that have been arrested, charged and need to appear before court,” Ngwema said.

Mwonzora Hypocrisy Exposed
24 October 2020
By Pafungeyi Gore
The history of fighting for an egalitarian society has been littered with pretenders.
It was absolutely clear that the Muzorewa attempt to unseat the Mugabe Zanu PF led regime from 1980-2005 was failing to gather momentum.
One Douglas Mwonzora remain stuck in illusions that one day the outfit will defeat Zanu PF. The change momentum gathered pace in the late 1990s and it resulted in the formation of MDC.
Many right thinking adults back then joined the promising MDC only the Mwonzoras failed to believe in the MDC’S appeal. Six years after he decided to join the movement not because he believed in it but he found an opportunity to annihilate the party from within.
His modus operandi was clear capture the people by manipulating emotions, use mudslinging as a way of taking power.
The 2013 massive rigging by Zanu PF provided him with an opportunity to deal with the MDC power matrix. The MDC structures easily forgot about rigging and focused much of their anger on the then Organising Secretary Nelson Chamisa. Douglas Mwonzora went on mudslinging spree capitalising on the failure by structures to sift through the Nikuv rigging scheme which was way beyond how primary elections were done.
His scheme which was aided by mudslinging remniscent of Zanu PF 2014 dismissal of Joyce Mujuru managed to win him the Secretary General post.
Some of us who were backing Advocate Chamisa believed back then and to this day that the Congress was rigged and dirty money exchanged hands on the Congress. Hallmarks of a Zanu hand were all over.
Zanu PF had already planned it’s game in advance, cause confusion, scatter cimmitted comrades and ensure voter apathy. As the confusion persists it benefits the Zanu PF regime.
Zanu PF will simply claim to be organised more than the opposition because of one Morrison Nyathi who is after power for power’s sake.
He claims to be a genius in terms of law but he is failing to read the modus operandi which shows a deliberate attempt to ignore the obvious.
Zanu PF is well known for thwarting the opposition’s ability to organise but one Douglas Mwonzora was moving around the country with the sole aim of causing confusion among the opposition supporters .
He has indeed become a regime enabler.

Mnangagwa Sanctions Removed
Remove Sanctions You Imposed on your people first.
By Garikai Mananje
Editor Sir
Sanctions are political and economic decisions that are part of diplomatic efforts by countries, multilateral or regional organizations against states, organizations or individuals either to protect national security interests, or to protect international law, and defend against threats to international peace and security. These decisions principally include the temporary imposition on a target of economic, trade, diplomatic, cultural or other restrictions (sanctions measures) that are lifted when the motivating concerns no longer apply. In simpler terms, sanctions are simply a sort of punishment imposed to an individual, organisation or nation for not following or complying to certain regulations that are supposed to be followed. This punishment can however be removed when the individual, organisation or country complies.
The conditions for the removal of sanctions in Zimbabwe are clear and straight forward. Restoration of the rule of law, free and fair elections, a stop to the militarisation of the nation, fair and transparent legal system, among others. These are the conditions required by those who imposed them. They never called the regime to organise musical galas, rallies, commemorations, marches and slogans for the sanctions in order for them to be lifted.
The Munangagwa regime has imposed tough sanctions on its own citizens, sanctions tougher than the ones it is calling for to be removed. No one is allowed to support any other party other than the ruling Zanu PF, there is no any kind of freedom and human rights in the country at all, there is no rule of law whatsoever, all state institutions are captured, ill treatment and underpayment of workers, extreme poverty, disgusting service deliveries across the nation, massive corruption everywhere, injustice, abductions, torture, disappearances, illegal arrests, threats, abuses and all forms of dictatorship tendencies are some of the sanctions every Zimbabwean is calling the government to remove before coming together against sanctions imposed by outsiders. You can’t be beating up your own wife everyday and expect her to defend you when you get beaten by a neighbour.
The interesting truth is nothing lasts forever. All these dictators have their nasty way out. We had bullies and tyrants like Muammar Gaddafi, Gnassingbe Ayedema, Idi Amin, Charles Taylor Yahya Jammeh, and our own Robert Mugabe among others who at one point believed they were God but are now history through a sorrowful way. Unfortunately, people like Emmerson Munangagwa doesn’t seem to learn from history and past mistakes. Many Zimbabweans are risking their lives everyday crossing rivers into other countries, being subjected to gross inhuman treatment, slavery, harassment, physical and mental abuse in other countries because their own motherland has been turned into a hopeless desert by a few greedy individuals who thinks they own the nation and shift the blame to sanctions. Families have been destroyed, woman are forced to sell their bodies for survival, many are forced into crime and drugs just for survival. Education has been reduced to nothing but a waste of time and resources, a country used to be the pride of Africa now a shame of the continent. A nation once a breadbasket now a begging basket. Surely this will come to an end. God is not a fool..

Takafira Zhou: Decisive Incapacitation Action: A Must For All Teachers this Week

No amount of threat can capacitate us. We have nothing to fear except incapacitation, poverty and fear itself. Its game on, let the incapacitation of teachers be more visible through our actions. Let all teachers be part of a solution and not part of our problems.

I Don’t Control Washington -President Chamisa
MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has refuted allegations by the ruling ZANU PF party that he campaigned for sanctions to be imposed on Zimbabwe.
Chamisa told The Standard in an interview that he is neither a god nor does he have powers to control the United States of America’s foreign policy. He said:
Chamisa is not a god, he is not a state that rapes people, abducts people. Chamisa is not billions of dollars that disappear.
Chamisa is also not the one who manipulates the institutions of the state.
Don’t give me the powers that I don’t have. I don’t control Washington. I don’t have such powers.
The youthful opposition leader hit out at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government, saying its rule is based on lies and deceptions.
That is why we have a senior government official holding a press conference to announce that Chamisa is training soldiers in (Moldova).
We have officialised lies in order to elevate foolish claims to the level of policy.-The Standard

Mnangagwa’s JSC Says Sikhala Judge Didn’t Read Files Properly
The Emmerson Mnangagwa controlled Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended a tribunal to investigate the High Court judge who granted Zengeza MP Job Sikhala bail, Justice Erica Ndewere’s fitness for holding office.
In recently days, JSC has said its move is not motivated by political angers over the Sikhala judgement.
The organisation said this was after discovering she was not clearing her workload in reasonable time and that she had not properly studied the file on a thief’s conviction and sentence when she set aside a jail term.
-originally published in the Herald
“Khupe, Mwonzora Now In Political Dustbin”
MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa said his erstwhile colleagues, MDC-T interim president Thokozani Khupe and secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora are now in the political dustbin following their concerted efforts to decimate Zimbabwe’s largest opposition party by recalling its legislators and councillors.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa last week formally recognised Khupe as the official leader of the opposition after she became a Member of Parliament under controversial circumstances.
Chamisa believes Khupe and Mwonzora are simply doing ZANU PF’s bidding through captured State institutions.
He said:
I don’t have time for Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora (interim MDC-T secretary-general).
I know they are simply playing a script handed to them by Zanu PF, enforced by captured institutions.
They are going nowhere. In fact, they are history. People always settle political disputes.
Chamisa accused the government of attempting to distract the masses from the real causes of their sufferings through the anti-sanctions campaign.
Said Chamisa:
Zimbabweans should take the day as an opportunity to imagine a better future without hunger, poverty, police brutality, abductions, and corruption.
It’s a collective task for every Zimbabwean to imagine a Zimbabwe without the vices of bad governance from the current government.
When he came to power on the back of a military coup in November 2017, Mnangagwa said sanctions should never be used as an excuse for failure but he has since changed his tune as the economic situation has continued to deteriorate.-The Standard

Schools Open Today As Strike Continues
Yesterday, The Herald talked to some parents and students in Harare ahead of the second phase of schools re-opening.
One parent, Ms Mary Grace Chikomwe, whose child is a lower six student at Kwenda High School, commended Government for allowing schools to re-open. However, she was worried about a possible shortage of teachers and called the Government for intervene.
She also said the fees charged by schools are too high given the short period children would be in schools.
“Also most of the schools are over charging on fees. Our children will be at school only for 40 days and most of the schools are charging $20 000 and above. The fees are too high. Some schools are profiteering.”
Another parent, Mr Saul Ndete, whose child attends Johane Masowe Vadzidzi vaJesu Centre Zimbabwe Africa High School said he was happy that their children were finally going back to school.
“I am happy that our children are going back to school after such a long time. But my worry is the shortage of teachers. I have another child in Grade 7 at a local school and I have since stopped him to go to school because of the shortage of teachers. We appeal to Government to intervene on this challenge.”
Mrs Mavilyn Dzvova, whose child is doing form 3 at Junction Adventist High School, urged pupils to behave themselves at school.
A lower six arts student at Sodbury High School, Diana Alexis Lifa vowed to work hard and urged her colleagues to do the same. “I am really happy to be going back to school, our holidays were very long. I will do my best in this one month I will be at school.
“All I can say to my colleagues is to be serious and appreciate the efforts our parents are putting so that we can go back to school. Let us put our books first, always pray because we can not achieve our goals without God’s grace.”
In Bulawayo, the parents and guardians said it was essential for the pupils to return to school as education cannot wait.
“We are happy that our children are finally going back to school. Most of them have regressed in their studies because they have not been to school since March. Government has been reopening various sectors of the economy and the education sector had been left behind. We just have to accept that there is Covid-19 and education has to move forward despite the pandemic,” said Mrs Nomusa Tshuma, who was accompanying a child at Solusi High School.
Another parent who identified herself as Mrs Sibanda said her only concern was that some teachers were on strike.
Another parent who declined to be named said parents have agreed to incentivise teachers so that they can teach. Government banned schools from demanding incentives for teachers as some of the incentives had become extortionate.
“With what is happening it is better for us to pay the little incentives to teachers so that they return to the classroom to teach our children. Our children have already lost a lot of time as they have been stuck at home for seven months without learning. We just hope Government will urgently address the teachers’ concerns so that normalcy returns to schools. Our children’s future is at stake,” said the concerned parent.
Break and lunch time will be staggered to prevent pupils crowding while sporting activities are banned.
In the past pupils or teachers who were not feeling well could attend classes but in the new normal this will be prohibited as the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has adopted a stay at home policy for those feeling unwell until they recover.
Covid-19 is known to be more deadly among those with underlying diseases hence schools will now be required to keep records of teachers and pupils with underlying conditions without stigmatising them.
A maximum of 35 pupils will be permitted in a single classroom as learners and teachers will be required to maintain a physical or social distancing of at least one metre. -Herald
Barcelona Coach Speaks On El Clasico Defeat
Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has blamed VAR for his team’s loss in the Clasico on Saturday.
The Catalans lost 3-1 at home to rivals Real Madrid who scored their second goal from the spot after a VAR review.
Sergio Ramos was awarded a penalty midway through the second half when his shirt was tugged by Barca defender Clement Lenglet. He converted the kick as his side went on to win the encounter.
Barca, on the other end, had two penalty appeals turned down when Lionel Messi went down from a challenge by Raphael Varane in the first half and when the ball bounced off the arm of Varane in the second.
Neither incident was reviewed by the referee on the pitchside monitor.
“I don’t understand VAR, I think it is only used to make decisions against Barca,” Koeman told a news conference.
“You always get shirt tugs like that in the area and I think Ramos makes a foul on Lenglet first. There’s a tug of the shirt, but not enough to make him fall behind as he did… For me, it’s not a penalty.
“We have had five matches and (VAR) has only been used to go against Barca. It’s never gone our way.”-Soccer 24

Teachers Unfazed By Government Threats
Teachers’ unions have described as “daylight robbery” Government’s approval of a steep hike in school fees, a development which was confirmed by Primary and Secondary Education Minister Cain Mathema.
The latest school fees increases will see some pupils at boarding and urban day high schools forking out in excess of $55 000 up from $6 000 and $20 000 up from $3 000 per term, respectively.
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president Takavafira Zhou said the fees were certainly beyond the reach of many parents, particularly civil servants.
He said:
Our position is that parents must stop paying fees until teachers and government find each other over teachers’ welfare, health and safety.
Sending kids to school when teachers are not teaching is a waste of time; the fees are certainly beyond the reach of many parents, particularly teachers.
Mathema asserted that the fees hikes had been approved after no parent formally raised objections with his ministry.
However, parents who spoke to NewsDay said school heads just presented them with figures to choose from and the process was not clear at all.
Zhou said some school heads manipulated the parents by giving them inflated figures to choose from and in some cases school heads bribe education officials to have their fees approved.
Said Zhou:
… school heads have learnt ways of cutting corners and even get government approval of fees without following appropriate procedures.
Heads manipulate attendance registers so that they are presented as consent over a figure that even parents would have shot down, while in some cases, heads bribe authorities at the provincial level to get fees approvals.
Some fees are even unilateral, pegged by schools without input from parents.-NewsDay

I Will Give Priority To Committed Players -Logarusic

ZIMBABWE coach Zdravko “Loga” Logarusic insists he will give priority to players committed to the Warriors’ cause, amid indications there is friction between the gaffer and some of the United Kingdom-born players, popularly known as the British Brigade.
The Croat said he spent the last few weeks having one-on-one discussions with players he is targeting to use for the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against continental champions Algeria next month.
Although Loga refused to reveal the names of players whose commitment he is questioning, The Sunday Mail Sport has established that one of them is Queens Park Rangers forward Macauley Bonne.
The former Charlton Athletic striker, who has only featured for Zimbabwe in two friendly matches, has once again ruled himself out of the Warriors squad to play Algeria.
Loga has also spoken to Nottingham defender Tendai Darikwa, Reading player Andy Rinomhota, Kundai Benyu (Wealdstone), Adam Chicksen (Notts County), and left-back Jordan Zemura, who is rising through the ranks at Championship side AFC Bournemouth.
“I don’t normally discuss my players in newspapers, so I can’t tell the names of those players who are not interested.
“What I can tell you is that I have talked to over 90 percent of players I want to use against Algeria and some of them do not want to play,” Loga said yesterday.-The Sunday Mail
Government Threatens To Dismiss Striking Teachers
GOVERNMENT will this week ramp up monitoring of teacher attendance in schools to assess staffing gaps and determine areas that need additional educators to cover for those not reporting for duty.
Next year’s examination classes — Grade 6, Form 3 and Lower Sixth — will commence school tomorrow under the Phase Two reopening plan.
Provincial and district education officers will intensify daily assessments of teachers’ attendance registers at schools to establish staffing gaps which could be covered by hiring more teachers.
Already, Government has recruited 2 300 teachers, with an additional 3 000 to ensure Standard Health Operating Procedures are effected properly.
The monitoring will allow authorities to evaluate the extent to which this year’s syllabus has been covered and the methods that can be deployed to help pupils catch up.
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Cain Mathema told The Sunday Mail that all schools are adequately prepared for reopening.
The Ministry’s communication and advocacy director Mr Taungana Ndoro said monitoring will allow authorities to assess gaps in staffing levels.
“There have been daily assessments going on and are still ongoing.
“We anticipate the number of pupils attending school to increase as more classes open,” said Mr Ndoro.
“We seek to establish gaps in terms of human resources so that regulations such as social distancing can be properly implemented. However, in terms of preparation, schools are ready to open on Monday.”-The Sunday Mail

Nurses Object Govt Move To Scrap Flexi- Hours System
By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA) has objected to the unilateral decision by the Ministry of Health and Childcare to scrap the flexible working hours system.
In a letter to Health secretary Jasper Chimedza dated October 21, ZINA president Enock Dongo accused Chimedza of acting bad good faith. He wrote:
The decision to implement the flexible working hour system is a product of agreement within the HSBNP [Health Service Bipartite Negotiating Panel]. It was not given unilaterally by the government nor did the employees adopt it on their own accord.
With this in mind, your decision to unilaterally remove a system which you found in place and, in any event, was reached by agreement, is irregular and certainly not in good faith.
Dongo added that on May 11, 2020, the Ministry had made it clear that the flexible hour system would remain in place because it reduced exposure to coronavirus.
Said Dongo:
Tied to the above, the flexi-hour system did not only address issues to do with PPE but also addressed issues of incapacity.
When you go to the origins of adopting this system, the reason was that regular working hours were becoming expensive to maintain on the salaries nurses were getting.
Chimedza on October 19 directed provincial medical directors to resume normal working hours for all nurses, saying the flexi working hours were creating artificial nurse shortages.-statemedia
Illegal Miners Pollute City Water With Dangerous Chemicals
MASVINGO residents have written to the city council demanding that the local authority take action, within seven days, to address the proliferation of illegal gold miners at the Target Kopje Hills whose activities are affecting the city’s water supplies and nearby residential properties.
Through the Masvingo United Residents and Ratepayers Association (MURRA), the residents said in a letter dated 16 October 2020, council should quickly move in to stop the illegal mining activities in the area or be dragged to court.
Through its lawyers, Mutendi, Mudisi and Shumba, MURRA said the mining activities were damaging the water reservoirs and contaminating purified water stored in the tanks before being distributed to the city suburbs.
Residents in areas near the hills that include, Target Kopje, Hillside Extension, Mucheke B popularly known as Majange and Mucheke C have complained that the constant blasting of explosives by the miners is damaging their properties.
“It is also common cause that the water reservoir tanks that store water supply for the whole City of Masvingo are located at the said area. We are informed that the said water storage tanks have a capacity of more or less 10 million litres.
If these illegal miners are not stopped the water reservoir tanks may end up bursting which will culminate in flooding and destruction of structures,” reads part of the letter.
The residents said the illegal gold panners are using dangerous chemicals such as cyanide and mercury which are also dangerous if they pollute the water.
“We give you seven days to address the above issue or to sit down with our client and unpack your strategic plan on how you intend to stop the illegal mining activities. If either of the above is not done within seven working days calculated from the date of this letter our client may be forced to approach the courts for relief.”-The Sunday News

Matopo High School Dies Of Highly Probable Covid-19 Infection
Paul Nyathi

Matopo High School outside Bulawayo has advised parents not to send more children to the school while investigations are being carried out on the death of one learner at the school in what is suspected to have been Covid-19 related.

Govt Moves To Replace All Striking Teachers
State Media

GOVERNMENT will this week ramp up monitoring of teacher attendance in schools to assess staffing gaps and determine areas that need additional educators to cover for those not reporting for duty.
Next year’s examination classes — Grade 6, Form 3 and Lower Sixth — will commence school tomorrow under the Phase Two reopening plan.

However, in terms of preparation, schools are ready to open on Monday.”
Minister Mathema said schools will be equipped with the requisite Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the safety of pupils, teachers and support staff is guaranteed.
“We are prepared and ready to open schools under the second
phase,” said Minister Mathema.
“Schools have been receiving PPE since we opened for the First Phase and it has been an ongoing process. Preparations for schools opening for all phases have been going on for some time now and we are prepared to open schools even for the last phase.”
He said the number of teachers attending class had been steadily rising over the last few weeks, adding that only a handful are not reporting for duty.
National Association of School Heads president Mr Arthur Maphosa said adequate PPE had been provided for all schools.
“The issue of PPE is no longer much of an issue, yes, there might be gaps here and there but Government has been trying to supply,” said Mr Maphosa.
“The biggest issue now is that there are no adequate teachers. Some mission schools have teachers because there were arrangements made between the schools and parents.
“However, in rural and most public schools there are no teachers. At times the attendance register shows that only two out of 47 would have reported for duty, with the two being the head of the school and the deputy.”
He said salary negotiations between Government and public sector workers should be expedited to break the impasse between the two parties.
Salary negotiations
As schools continue with the phased reopening, negotiations for a salary review for public sector workers will commence soon.
Public Service Commission secretary Ambassador Jonathan Wutawunashe said negotiations were ongoing through the National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC).
“I was informed by the leader of the Government team that the two parties are now working on a suitable date to meet and continue with negotiations,” said Amb Wutawunashe.
“The negotiations will not be for teachers only but the whole civil service sector. That is why there has been a call for teachers to go to their respective stations while their grievances are being attended to.
“Other civil servants are going to work, so it is important for teachers’ unions to tell their members to be at work until finalisation of the negotiations.”
Schools reopened last month starting with examination classes – Grade 7, Form 4 and Upper Sixth – on 28 September. The rest of the classes will open on November 9.
Government recently released $600 million to fund the improvement of sanitation at schools and to enable them to reopen safely. The funds were used to procure PPE for use by learners and teachers.

Khupe’s Mashakada Says Zim Can’t Continue Blaming Sanctions For Economic Collapse

The Thokozani Khupe led MDC-T has said all economic saboteurs must face the music saying continuous blaming of sanctions for economic collapse by the country’s leadership was not helpful.
It said a cocktail of past disastrous economic policies and “our own acts of omission and commission” are to the root cause for the meltdown.
In a statement to coincide with the second SADC Anti-Sanctions Day commemoration on 25 Sunday, the opposition lamented the suffering of the people and workers who are bearing the brunt of sanctions.
“Whist we call for the unconditional removal of sanctions, we also urge the government to address policy missteps and corruption, whose net effect on the economy may exceed the economic impact of sanctions,” Tapiwa Mashakada, MDC-T Secretary for Finance and Economic Affairs said.
He added “Economic saboteurs must be brought to book” without naming any.
Zanu PF is accused of using the sanctions mantra as an excuse for its economic failures.
The ruling party has always attributed economic, humanitarian and political crises in the country to sanctions which were imposed at the turn of the millennium following the controversial fast-track land reform.
Some say corruption which is rampant in the country is the leading factor choking efforts to revive the collapsed economy.
Western states including the United Kingdom, the United States and members of the European Union argue that the sanctions are measures meant to coerce Zimbabwe to return to constitutionalism, rule of law and good governance.
Mashakada called for “doubling of efforts” to remove sanctions saying ordinary Zimbabweans are suffering.
“As a pro-poor and labour backed party, the MDC-T laments the suffering of the people and workers who are bearing the brunt of sanctions.”
He added, “The economy is partly hamstrung by sanctions due to restrictions faced by corresponding banks and difficulties in accessing new capital as Zidera gives the United States of America veto powers on the Boards of the main Multi-Lateral bodies such as the IMF and World Bank.”
Mashakada said respect international law in its governance architecture was key in removal of sanctions.
“Finally let us desist from blaming sanctions for our own acts of omission and commission.
In calling for the unconditional removal of sanctions we must be honest and accept that some of the economic policies implemented in the past stoked inflation, the budget deficit, currency and exchange rate volatility. Let us fix the issues we control and not just mourn about sanctions.”
However, MDC-T credited itself through its late founding president and former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai for a massive reduction of people on sanctions list.
“Through our contribution to the re-engagement efforts during the GNU (2009-2013), most travel restrictions were removed and to date, less than 3 people remain on the Sanctions travel ban list.
“Thanks to the wisdom of our late icon Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai who made a clarion call for the removal of what he called “all restrictive measures”.
Mashakada also claimed that his formation “fought” for a new Constitution in 2013 which now provides for compensation for developments on the land through the enactment of the US$3.5 billion Global Compensation Deed signed on 29 July between government and former farm owners.
The billion-dollar compensation agreement is expected to bring finality the emotive land issue as envisaged by the country’s constitution.

Ziyambi Ziyambi Says Chamisa Was Never Offered Leader Of Opposition Post

The Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi while in an interview with the Daily News President Mnangagwa offering firebrand opposition leader Nelson Chamisa the position of the leader of the opposition in parliament was just a rumor, Chamisa was never offered anything.
Ziyambi has been asked:
After the election, President Mnangagwa wanted to offer Chamisa that position.
And he responded and said:
I am not sure Chamisa was offered that position. People were simply discussing, but outside Parliament. Then we needed to change the legislation (because he was not an MP). But if he was an MP and leader of the opposition in Parliament, the Parliament has a provision to offer him that position.
Ziyambi also said lockdown restrictions were still in place and the MDC Alliance might not be able to protest as planned when he was asked:
Chamisa recently threatened to roll out protests against the government. Your response to that?
Ziyambi answered:
Our laws are sufficient to deal with them. If you want to protest, you give the necessary notices in terms of the Maintenance of the Peace and Order Bill, you follow the due process that is required.
But as far as I am concerned, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, there is a curfew and there are restrictions on movement.
I am not sure how he wants to protest without violating the laws and our security is on high alert to stop anyone who wants to violate the laws of this country.

Govt Spends Millions On Luxury Vehicles For Senior Officials Yet Crying About Sanctions
Paul Nyathi

The government of Zimbabwe recently spent millions of dollars on luxury cars for senior officials while complaining of sanctions and claiming to be the reason behind the deepening economic collapse that has plunged citizens into profound hardship.
The new cars, including dozens of Range Rovers and Toyota pick-up trucks worth more than $40,000, were distributed to ambassadors and senior civil servants.
Analysts say the move constitutes a new effort to shore up support for the government of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who took power after the military coup that ousted Robert Mugabe in 2017.
Dozens of luxury models are also believed to have been distributed to senior army officers, while junior ranks have received more modest vehicles. The total cost has not been disclosed but some of the purchases have been confirmed by ministers in answers to parliamentarians.
Sibusiso Moyo, Zimbabwe’s foreign minister, told the parliamentary foreign affairs committee that new vehicles had been delivered to all Zimbabwe’s 50 diplomatic envoys and some other staff.
In another parliamentary hearing, the head of Zimbabwe’s health services board confirmed that commissioners recently took delivery of Range Rover Discoveries worth around $50,000 each. Paulinus Sikosana said the distribution was standard practice for senior bureaucrats.
Currently, thousands of nurses, doctors, and teachers are on strike in protest at working conditions, a lack of protective equipment and low salaries.
Mnangagwa has blamed the economic malaise on sanctions and some unnamed “political detractors”.
“What’s unusual about the expenditure [on luxury cars] is that it comes when the government is under siege financially. It looks like a desperate effort to scaffold their support. The real challenge for Mnangagwa is that the policy of patronage and plunder means significant reform is impossible,” said Piers Pigou, an analyst with the International Crisis Group.

Barcelona Coach Blames VAR For El Clasico Defeat

Exposing Douglas Mwonzora’s Hypocrisy
24 October 2020
By Pafungeyi Gore
The history of fighting for an egalitarian society has been littered with pretenders.
It was absolutely clear that the Muzorewa attempt to unseat the Mugabe Zanu PF led regime from 1980-2005 was failing to gather momentum.
One Douglas Mwonzora remains stuck in illusions that one day the outfit will defeat Zanu PF.

Health Alert: Facts You Need To Know About Heartburn

Heartburn is a burning pain in your chest, just behind your breastbone. The pain is often worse after eating, in the evening, or when lying down or bending over.
Occasional heartburn is common and no cause for alarm. Most people can manage the discomfort of heartburn on their own with lifestyle changes and over-the-counter medications.
Heartburn that is more frequent or interferes with your daily routine may be a symptom of a more serious condition that requires medical care.
Symptoms
Symptoms of heartburn include:
A burning pain in the chest that usually occurs after eating and may occur at night Pain that worsens when lying down or bending overBitter or acidic taste in the mouth
When to see a doctor
Seek immediate help if you experience severe chest pain or pressure, especially when combined with other signs and symptoms such as pain in the arm or jaw or difficulty breathing. Chest pain may be a symptom of a heart attack.
Make an appointment with your doctor if:
Heartburn occurs more than twice a week Symptoms persist despite use of over-the-counter medications You have difficulty swallowing You have persistent nausea or vomiting You have weight loss because of poor appetite or difficulty eating.
Causes
Heartburn occurs when stomach acid backs up into the tube that carries food from your mouth to your stomach (esophagus).
Normally when you swallow, a band of muscle around the bottom of your esophagus (lower esophageal sphincter) relaxes to allow food and liquid to flow down into your stomach. Then the muscle tightens again.
If the lower esophageal sphincter relaxes abnormally or weakens, stomach acid can flow back up into your esophagus (acid reflux) and cause heartburn. The acid backup may be worse when you’re bent over or lying down.
Risk factors
Certain foods and drinks can trigger heartburn in some people, including:
Spicy foodsOnionsCitrus productsTomato products, such as ketchupFatty or fried foodsPeppermintChocolateAlcohol, carbonated beverages, coffee or other caffeinated beveragesLarge or fatty meals
Being overweight or pregnant also can increase your risk of experiencing heartburn.
Complications
Heartburn that occurs frequently and interferes with your routine is considered gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
GERD treatment may require prescription medications and, occasionally, surgery or other procedures.
GERD can seriously damage your esophagus or lead to precancerous changes in the esophagus called Barrett’s esophagus.

Anti-Sanctions March: I Don’t Control Washington -President Chamisa

We have officialised lies in order to elevate foolish claims to the level of policy.-The Standard

Guti Shuts Own University To Honour Mnangagwa’s Day Against Sanctions | ANALYSIS.
By Farai D Hove | Ezekiel Guti has shut his university to honour Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Anti Sanctions Day.
In a statement, his university said this is because the 26th October has been declared a public holiday. The day was set aside by Mnangagwa to protest against the targeted western sanctions against him (Mnangagwa) and a list of cronies around his ruling clique. Mnangagwa has labelled them sanctions against the Zimbabwean nation which must be removed. Influential community leaders like Guti have not moved to challenge Mnangagwa on his own sanctions against the people since 1983, during a 37 year period in which Mnangagwa has called for the killing of tens of thousands of his own citizens, extrajudicial killing operations that have resulted in business and the entire economy crumbling since 1983. Guti has instead praised Mnangagwa calling him God’s servant, even during a series of shameless abductions.
At the height of mass killings and abductions, Guti would host Mnangagwa and give him the holy podium to address is congregation at his Bible college in Harare, and the below graphics include the live video at the premises as Zimbabwe’s mass murderer describe by senior ZANU PF members as the nation’s cursed Adolf Hitler was treated like the Almighty Creator himself. So, Mnangagwa is the God Of Ezekiel, ZAOGA members keep talking about!
Does the Bible not condemn the practice of fearing human beings? Do the scriptures not lay out instructions on telling the wicked to their face when they are wrong? So, what type of Christianity has Ezekiel Guti invented he has sold the world? Some ZANU PF members seem more pious and put in heart than all of Guti’s followers put together.
Below was Guti’s letter

Mahere Challenges Nick Mangwana to A Public Debate
By Jane Mlambo| Opposition MDC Alliance Spokesperson Fadzai Mahere has challenges Information Secretary Ndabaningi Nick Mangwana to a public debate on the issue of Western imposed sanctions saying Zimbabweans are being fed propaganda and half baked truth from the government and ruling party Zanu PF.
Mahere declared her challenge on Twitter saying;
“I challenge Mr Nick Mangwana to a live professionally moderated podium debate on sanctions in the national interest. Zimbabweans deserve a Govt that leads in good faith. The bad governance, propaganda & half-truths must stop. #ZimbabweanLivesMatter,” she said.
In response, Mangwana said he will not join someone’s reality show but was quick to say he is open to defending government position on BBC, Sky and other international news organisations.
And I spent hours doing same on BBC, Sky and the rest. We just don’t join someone’s reality shows.
Meanwhile, former cabinet minister Walter Mzembi said government should not be afraid of construction engagement and debate telling Mangwana to accept the challenge.
“GVT shouldn’t be afraid of constructive engagement & debate . During our time we would defend our beliefs even on BBC Hardtalk with the toughest ! Sanctions Debate should be won at home first @nickmangwana take up this intellectual challenge tizipigwe,” said Mzembi.
On a lighter note, the self exiled former tourism minister told Mangwana that he had cleared his way for the debate with his principal President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Government of Zimbabwe successfully lobbied SADC to declare the 25th of October as the anti-sanctions day with the current chairperson and Mozambique President, Felipe Nyusi releasing a statement calling for the removal of the embargo.
Denialist Primary And Secondary Education Minister Says Teachers Are Back In Schools
By A Correspondent- Primary and Secondary Education Minister Ambassador Cain Mathema said as far as Government was concerned, teachers have reported for duty and reports claiming that there are schools without teachers were a figment of some people’s imagination.
This is despite reports indicating that a lot of schools across the country do not have teachers, who are boycotting classes to push for a salary review.
Said Mathema:
We are ready for the schools opening. There is no school where there are no teachers. If you know any please let us know.
Meanwhile, the National Association of School Heads (NASH) president Arthur Maphosa said though adequate PPE had been provided for all schools, the biggest challenge is that there are no adequate teachers.
Said Maphosa:
The biggest issue now is that there are no adequate teachers. Some mission schools have teachers because there were arrangements made between the schools and parents.
However, in rural and most public schools there are no teachers. At times the attendance register shows that only two out of 47 would have reported for duty, with the two being the head of the school and the deputy.
Schools reopened last month starting with examination classes – Grade 7, Form 4 and Upper Sixth – on 28 September.
Next year’s examination classes — Grade 6, Form 3 and Lower Sixth — will commence school tomorrow under the Phase Two reopening plan.
The rest of the classes will open on November 9.-statemedia
Local Firm Rescues Nyanga Family With Rare Condition
By A Correspondent| When Ronica Kembo woke up on Monday last week, she prayed to God as she helplessly watched her family living with a rare condition of cracked heels and palms which are often bloodied.
She could not help as most people turned her away without any assistance making her life unbearable.
Only wild fruits were saving her but children were slowly showing signs of malnutrition.
The coronavirus pandemic made her life worse as most families had enough for themselves.
A nearby school Emmanuel High School in Ruwangwe was closed and they could not do anything.

Narrating her ordeal, Kembo said the situation was dire and she was only waiting for God’s intervention.
“The situation here was bad and to be honest with you I was only waiting for God’s intervention because I had exhausted all the channels but nothing came out it. God is there and I want to thank Impala Car Rental for their benevolence,” she said.
The family is made up of Ronica Kembo her two daughters, Chisina and Nhamo and several grandchildren who all suffer from the rare disease.
Walking straight is a nightmare to the family and they now live a miserable life.
Kembo’s only male child who survived the rare condition vanished into Mozambique and has not returned home.
“We have been surviving on wild fruits of late because no one especially from this community was willing to help because of this pandemic. People had stocked enough for their families and life was becoming unbearable for us,” narrated Ronica as she pointed on some of the fruits.
Ronica who turns 51 said she had exhausted all the channels but nothing came and she was only banking on prayers.
“To be honest with you I have been praying to God and I am happy that my prayers have been answered,” she said.
Apart from hunger, their houses are prone to natural disasters as are old.
“As you can see our houses are dilapidated and we have nothing to do, during rainy season we use plastics to cover up. Mr Killer Zivhu had brought us building material and the house is yet to be finished we don’t why?” she narrated.
Impala Car Rental brand and projects manager Tracy Ngoma said through their Alfred Dondo foundation they found it proper to assist the family.
“Touched by their plight we thought it was necessary for us to bring some food staffs to the people. The situation here needs people to come together and assist the family. Through the foundation we will continue working with the family in assisting them with their needs,” she said.
Ngoma said they will also engage the people who started building the house and see how best they can assist to have the house finished.
“We will see how best we can engage those who started building the house. We can as well try to give our hand so that the family can get descent accommodation,” she said.
Impala Car Rental has been assisting several under privileged through the foundation.

Conmen Wreck Havoc In S.A
By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe’s Consulate in South Africa has warned people seeking its services to avoid engaging third parties whom in most cases have turned out to be conmen.
The consulate said in a public notice this week that it was disturbed by the growing concerns from Zimbabweans in the neighbouring country, who continue to fall victim to dubious characters.
“It has come to our attention of the Consul General that our valued clients are becoming victims of conmen who are duping hem of their hard earned cash based on false promises that these cheaters would assist the appointment seeking individuals to secure an appointment with the consulate. Please kindly note that the appointment systems are computerized and as such it is not possible for any individual, including consulate officials to influence the allocation of slots,” said the consulate.
The Zimbabwe Embassy introduced the online appointment system of clients in South Africa in line with lockdown protocols under level one to keep the human interface at minimal.
Those seeking services have to book prior to them going to the offices physically should there be any need.
According to the notice, confirmed booking s are finalized and printed in advance and hence no amendments may be effected on the day of service.
“Admission is based on the registered identification details. For this reason, it is not possible to buy or sell appointments. The registered details can be easily verified electronically on the database, consequently, fake appointments can be easily detected and the appointment system is centralized, and no admissions can be made outside the set procedure,” read the notice.
Most services including documentation- issuing of birth, national Identification documents and passports were suspended at the beginning of the lockdown in March.
They were gradually re-opened in August.
However, the embassy continued processing (online) the repatriations of human remains for burials (in Zimbabwe), deportations and returning residents.
The consulate said it is currently having a high demand of services and appealed to those who no longer need prior appointments to cancel their appointment to create space for others needing urgent attention.-cite.org
“Zim Parks In Soup Over Irregular Appointments”
By Claris Magwenzi- Whistle blowers from ZIMPARKS have reported the wildlife authority to the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission.
The reports are over irregular appointments of 7 top executives at the authority. The officials according to the leaked information include Timothy Kuguyo, Gift Kuora, Roseline Mandisodza and Arthur Musakwa among others.
Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority has corruption scandals which have remained hidden from the face of the public.
Part of the report read:
“At the core of the corruption syndicate at Zimparks is a group of incompetent and corrupt elements who were corruptly hired and promoted to further personal causes. Edward Chitiyo is currently an Economist Zimparks , he was appointed from outside the authority at D1 Level under the Business Development Unit.
No interviews were done, no advert was flighted, he was upgraded to D3 following an instruction from Board Vice Chair-Mrs Mpamhanga.
The position was not on the organizational structure, it was introduced from nowhere, and the grading justification was also flawed. Chitiyo was allegedly in a questionable relationship with Mrs Mpamhanga. Chitiyo wanted to become the Business Development Manager (BDM) at grade D5.
To further this cause Chitiyo catalyzed the dismissal of the then BDM (Mr Gregory Nyaguse) because he had commented and red flagged Chitiyo’s relationship with Mrs Mpamhanga to Chitiyo in a peer discussion.
There were allegations that Nyaguse was loyal to Chidziya therefore he had to be removed despite good performance, Chidziya had to be removed even though he had not done wrong or dismissible offense.
During that time Mrs Tom was Acting Director Commercial Services on appointment of Mrs Mpamhanga and she joined hands with Chitiyo. Together they orchestrated the dismissal of Chidziya with the support of Minister Muchinguri who had business interests through Afro Jumbo.
Nyaguse had charged Afro Jumbo for not handling an event well and fired the entity.
Fainos Chuma, Corporate Secretary Appointed from outside at D3 Level as Heard of the Legal Services Unit and Cooperate Secretary.
He was out competed by other prospective but still imposed by the previous Board and DG Chidziya’s directives he was therefore unfairly recruited. Chuma has had consistent performance and capacity issues since he joined ZIMPARKS.
ZIMPARKS is said to have incurred several costs and losses from the appointment of Chuma which has not benefited ZIMPARKS in any manner or form.
Chuma is accussed of being involved in confidential information leaks involving the flawed recruitment of the Director Conservation, which resulted in his demotion to grade D4 reporting to Mtetwa who was his immediate subordinate.
Due to his lack of capacity, the Authority was left with no option but to separate the Legal Services and Corporate functions from his portfolio With the coming in of the Mpamhanga Board, Chuma was upgraded back to grade D5 and Mtetwa was also appointed to grade D5.”
Efforts to get a comment from ZimParks was an ongoing process by the time of writing.

Salary Negotiations For Civil Servants To Continue
By A Correspondent- The National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC) is set to convene soon for the resumption of negotiations for a salary review for public sector workers.
Public Service Commission (PSC) secretary Ambassador Jonathan Wutawunashe has therefore urged teachers to return to work while their grievances are being attended to.
Said Wutaunashe:
I was informed by the leader of the Government team that the two parties are now working on a suitable date to meet and continue with negotiations.
The negotiations will not be for teachers only but the whole civil service sector. That is why there has been a call for teachers to go to their respective stations while their grievances are being attended to.
Other civil servants are going to work, so it is important for teachers’ unions to tell their members to be at work until the finalisation of the negotiations.

Opposition Wins Elections In Seychelles After Forty Years

Seychelles opposition candidate Wavel Ramkalawan has won the archipelago’s presidential election with 54.9 percent of valid votes cast, upsetting incumbent President Danny Faure.
“I declare… Ramkalawan as the elected candidate,” the electoral commission chairman Danny Lucas said on Sunday.
The opposition, narrowly defeated in a presidential election in 2015 and buoyed by a landmark victory in a parliamentary poll a year later, won its first presidential poll in the 40 years since Seychelles gained independence from Britain.
Ramkalawan, an Anglican priest and leader of the Seychelles Democratic Alliance, was running for the presidency for the sixth time. He lost the 2015 poll by 193 votes to James Michel in an unprecedented second round of voting.
“Faure and I are good friends. And an election does not mean the end of one’s contribution to one’s motherland,” Ramkalawan said in his victory speech. “In this election, there were no losers, there were no winners. Our country was given the opportunity as the ultimate winner.”
As Ramakalawan spoke, Faure, who garnered 43.5 percent of the votes, sat close by, nodding his head.
Voters on the main islands of Seychelles cast their ballot on Saturday in presidential and parliamentary elections spanning three days. More than 74,000 registered to take part in the polls.
Al Jazeera’s Malcolm Webb said many voters appeared unconvinced by the performance of the former ruling party.
“Seychelles is one of the most unequal countries in the world. There is a small wealthy minority that own hotels and tourist businesses. Many of them are descendants of people from Europe. But majority of the islanders are much less wealthy and many of them descendants of people who were enslaved by colonialists to work on plantations,” Webb said.
“The ruling party used to pick up a lot of support from the less wealthy part of the society. The opposition tended to be backed by business owners and wealthier people. It now seems a lot of people have lost confidence in the former ruling party,” he added.
The campaign took place mainly over social media, with rallies banned due to the coronavirus.
Seychelles has recorded only 149 cases, mostly imported, but the pandemic has been a burning campaign issue as restrictions on global travel bottom out the tourism industry – a major earner for Seychelles and employer for many of its 98,000 people.
Visitor numbers have collapsed since March in the archipelago nation of 115 islands, normally a popular destination for honeymooners and paradise-seekers drawn by its fine sandy beaches and turquoise waters.

Sanctions Are NOT Responsible For Economic Crisis- Just Because Zanu Pf Decree, So Does Not Make It So
By Patrick Guramatunhu- The root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic mess and political paralysis is the failure to hold free, fair and credible elections. The country has been stuck with a corrupt, incompetent and murderous dictatorship for the last 40 years which has remained in office all these years by rigged elections.
Zanu PF has stifled all meaningful debate by creating a monolithic system in which only the voice of the leader, his cronies, flatters, apologists and propagandist are heard. All other voices are considered a threat to the regime and are ruthlessly silenced. It is therefore no surprise that the nation has again and again found itself wasting time and resources chasing the mythical five-legged hare.
The sanctions imposed by the West are not the root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown; there is a mountain of evidence to show that corruption, mismanagement and lawlessness are the real problems.
The Zanu PF dictatorship did not want to deal with corruption, mismanagement and lawlessness because the only way to end these problem is by dismantling the dictatorship itself. This is something the regime did not want to do and so it has imposed sanctions as the cause of all the nation’s problems.
It typical Zanu PF style, the regime has loaded sanctions as the root cause of the country’s problems on one hand and then made a big song and dance about the measures the regime had lined up to mitigate the ill-effects of the sanction.
Starting with Mugabe’s “Look East!” policy launched 20 years ago to Mnangagwa’s recent claim that the country has devised local solutions to spur development regardless of the sanctions.
Mugabe’s look east policy have not worked, as the economic meltdown has only got worse. Mnangagwa’s solutions will accomplish nothing too because the economic meltdown is not caused by sanctions.
Zimbabwe is in a serious economic mess and it is not going to get out of it by wasting time and resources addressing imaginary sanctions problems whilst the real problems, corruptions, etc.
Sanctions are not the target we want to end the economic crisis; corruption and mismanagement are the targets we want. ”Kupedzera miseve pamakunguvo haga dziripo!” (We just wasting arrows shooting at crows instead of the guinea fowls!) as one would say in Shona.
Bushiri Arrest: Two Department Of Home Affairs Senior Officials Suspended.

The Department of Home Affairs has confirmed that two senior officials, who were involved in serving religious leader Shepherd Bushiri with notices from the department, have been suspended.
Three of the notices, sent to Bushiri and his wife Mary, were strangely withdrawn.
The department is at loggerheads with the Bushiris over their fraudulent permanent residency permits.
Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi says, while two officials were suspended for unrelated wrongdoing, there are now questions raised about their involvement in the Bushiri matter.
“Bushiri and his wife entered South Africa for the first time on 6 September 2009. They were issued visitors visas. While he (Bushiri) was here in 2014, 2015 and 2016, he registered companies with the CIPC and started conducting businesses. Which is not allowed in terms of the visitors visa and immigration law.”
“In 2012, Mary Bushiri, the wife, entered South Africa through OR Tambo International Airport. She then produced a permanent residents visa, not a visitors visa, a permanent residents visa, which was, according to what she produced, given to her on 1 February 1997.”
Motsoaledi says the department will continue investigating the matter.
Bushiri and his wife Mary are also facing charges of fraud, money laundering, and theft.
They remain in custody until their next court appearance on Monday.

Full Statement: FILIPE JACINTO NYUSI, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF MOZAMBIQUE, AND CHAIRPERSON OF SADC, ON ZIMBABWE ANTI SANCTIONS DAY

STATEMENT BY HIS EXCELLENCY FILIPE JACINTO NYUSI, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF MOZAMBIQUE, AND CHAIRPERSON OF SADC, ON ANTISANCTIONS DAY, 25 OCTOBER, CALLING FOR THE LIFTING OF ALL SANCTIONS IMPOSED ON THE REPUBLIC OF ZIMBABWE
25 OCTOBER 2020
It has been one year since the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) declared 25th October as the day for SADC to campaign as a region for the unconditional removal of sanctions imposed on the Republic of Zimbabwe.
While significant progress has been made since the decision was made in 2019, Zimbabwe remains under sanctions that significantly undermine the country’s capacity to respond to socio-economic challenges that include three successive droughts; recovery from the effects of Tropical Cyclone Idai; poor access to affordable lines of credit on the global market; and servicing of her debt obligations.
The prevailing COVID-19 pandemic has further placed serious constraints on the Government of Zimbabwe’s ability to fund programmes, as well as investments in key economic sectors.
SADC, therefore, reiterates the call for these sanctions to be unconditionally lifted for Zimbabwe to improve the livelihoods of her citizens and develop unhindered.
We are encouraged that SADC’s call has received some attention, and as such we applaud the recent call by the United Nations Secretary-General, Dr Antonio Guterres, and the UN Human Rights Commission, for the removal of unilateral coercive measures, as they have significant negative impacts on access to COVID-19 prevention measures and post-recovery efforts.
We welcome the pertinent conclusions and recommendations of the Report of the Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights, which also found out that countries targeted by unilateral sanctions are constrained in their quest to effectively respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are acutely aware that the continuation of sanctions not only impacts negatively on socio-economic progress in Zimbabwe but also on the attainment of the SADC Vision 2050, the African Union Agenda 2063 and ultimately the 2030 United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development.
As SADC, we fully support the very constructive re-engagement dialogue between the Republic of Zimbabwe and her global partners, including those that have maintained sanctions on Zimbabwe.
We call on all progressive forces to lend diplomatic, political and moral support to the re-engagement efforts.
As the world grapples with containing the COVID-19 pandemic, and mobilizing resources aimed at building resilient economies, it is important to observe the collective resolve that has been built to ensure that everybody is on board, in line with the UN Member States’ pledge to ensure no one is left behind.
For SADC as a region, the call for the unconditional removal of sanctions assumes even greater importance.
It is not just a solidarity call in support of Zimbabwe, but also a clarion call for justice, fairness and full enjoyment of human rights.
The sanctions are no longer relevant and are detrimental to the socio-economic development and self-determination of Zimbabweans.
On a very encouraging and positive note, SADC notes with satisfaction the resolve of the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and of His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa, to continue implementing reforms aimed at stabilising the economy and the financial sector.
Furthermore, we continue to witness political and legislative reforms that have seen, among others, the Public Order and Security Act (POSA); Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA); and the Indigenization and Economic Empowerment Act being repealed, and efforts to align legislation with the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
The recently concluded landmark Global Compensation Deed Agreement, signed between the Government of Zimbabwe and former farm-owners, is evidence of the Government’s commitment to addressing the contentious issues emanating from the land reform programme, which was introduced to redress historical land inequalities that existed along racial and class lines.
Such developments are evidence that Zimbabwe is on a positive trajectory, and the lifting of sanctions will accelerate the realisation of positive milestones.
As we celebrate the 75th Anniversary since the establishment of our community of nations, the United Nations, let us also draw inspiration from our Charter and this year’s theme, “The Future We Want, The United Nations We Need”, and remain faithful to our global commitment to leave no one behind.
Sanctions without UN approval are a violation of our Charter and run against the spirit of multilateralism.
As SADC, we reaffirm the urgency of the removal of all sanctions imposed on the Republic of Zimbabwe.
The sanctions must be removed now for the good of the region and the world.

South African Man Arrested With More Than R2m Of Fake Bank Notes

PRETORIA – A man has been arrested after he was found to be in possession of counterfeit money with a face value of more than R2-million and is expected to appear in court on Pretoria on Monday, the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Gauteng said.

Bushiri’s Followers Threaten Magistrate With A “Fire Of Prayer”
TimesLive

DRAMA unfolded outside the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Friday as supporters of self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary circulated photos of the presiding magistrate and threatened to “send fire” to frustrate her.
This as the bail application of the couple and their co-accused, Landiwe Ntlokwana, was delayed, resulting in them spending the weekend in police custody.
The magistrate said the formal bail application will possibly be heard on Monday.
This is after the defence team objected to a suggestion that the matter be remanded to October 30.
As the crowd dispersed after an unsuccessful day, some supporters who stood outside said they were going to frustrate the magistrate through prayer until their “Papa” is freed.
The women, who were pointing at and showing one another a WhatsApp picture of the magistrate, said they were going to “send fire to her” until she released their “father”.
“We are going to pray for her and we will frustrate her.,” said one of the women in the crowd.
The disgruntled group accused the government of being corrupt and denying their “father” his freedom.
They demanded that Bushiri be granted bail on Monday.

“How Do You Drink With A Mask On?” SA Party Goers Dump Covid-19 Prevention Masks
Sunday Times

Luxury-branded handbags and wristwatches were the order of the day at a packed Sandton nightspot this week. Missing was a cheap accessory, a face mask.
The Blackdoor Lounge brazenly posted hundreds of photos on its Facebook page this week of patrons drinking and dancing — packed together and not a mask in sight. It was one of many establishments across SA that appear to be ignoring Covid-19 regulations as infection rates pick up.
Another was the Ga-Rankuwa Shisanyama in Pretoria. A video posted on Twitter showed hundreds partying with no masks. Similar photos were posted of a Johannes – burg party venue, Altitude Beach. Large social gatherings have been labelled “superspreaders ” by health experts, with young adults — especially students — under fire for irresponsible behaviour.
This week, 125 University of Fort Hare students tested positive for Covid-19, allegedly after they attended two parties at a tavern in East London. Earlier this month, about 40 people, most of them students, tested positive after a night out at The Tin Roof in Claremont, Cape Town.
Universities SA (USAf) noted “with grave concern ” this week reports of reckless student behaviour on campuses since SA relaxed the lockdown. It quoted “reports of students mingling recklessly, throwing parties within residences and visiting nightclubs with not much regard for the safety protocols ”.
Supt Parboo Sewpersad of the Durban metro police said: “Students are not complying with regulations. You find groups of students gathering outside their accommodation, smoking and drinking — not a mask in sight.”
Durban student Simlindile Mabaso said many of her fellow students “are partying, especially now in level 1”. “As for masks and social distancing, no, that never happens. And, yes, students do become reckless after drinking.” Blackdoor Lounge manager Jared Balia denied that safety rules were not followed.
“It’s no mask, no entry. We put a reserved sign on every second table [for social distancing]. The photographs from Instagram are all from before lockdown,” he said.
A second manager, who gave his name only as Davis, said: “Our flier information specifically says ‘no mask, no entry’. Individuals are screened… to comply with the regulations. ”
Half an hour later the Facebook images were taken down. One of the posts had been tagged by a patron, who confirmed the videos and images he took were from the week before. He asked not to be named. Another patron, who went with friends last week, said everyone had worn masks until they entered the premises. She said there had been a previous event when the venue was “packed”, but she didn’t believe there was a risk [of getting Covid-19] because the space was so large.
Another woman said it was OK to take masks off inside because they went with groups of people they knew. “And you can’t drink with a mask on.” A part-owner of Altitude Beach, Ricardo da Costa, said the club followed regulations. “Altitude Beach is an open-air restaurant and is 3,200m², so in terms of space and social distancing we are not under pressure to find space, we have the space.
“I don’t think the regulations were actually done with a dry run or a trial to find out what makes sense from a human point of view. I’ll be honest with you, we are not policing people. Like if they stand up and greet someone else, I’m not going to tell my six bouncers to go up to them and tell them to put on a mask.”
He said the dance floor remained closed and the club had a face-recognition machine to take people’s temperatures. Ga-Rankuwa Shisanyama owner Trusty Lekhuleni said it adhered to safety regulations.
“It’s very difficult for us to control people when they suddenly all get up and want to dance or get closer to the artist.” He said that clubs and bars needed to bring in big-name artists to fill their establishments and try to make up for the losses they suffered during lockdown.
Prof Salim Abdool Karim, co-chair of the ministerial advisory committee on Covid-19, said a move to higher levels of lockdown was not off the table but would be a “last resort”. He said many South Africans were not following the rules and he was concerned about travel in December.
He said a strong indicator of a Covid resurgence would be the proportion of tests that were positive.
“In the last three weeks it has been a narrow range between 8.3% and 8%. With the proportion of positive tests still at a low level I am less concerned. We are not in a second wave at this point, but we may be seeing the beginnings of a resurgence.”
Health department spokesperson Popo Maja said a change in lockdown levels would be made “when community transmission has been established to a point where health-care service capacity becomes constrained within a geographical area”.
Maja said “several indicators” would be used to determine the government’s response to a resurgence.
The indicators included “the daily new Covid-19 cases, the testing rate per 100,000 population and the positivity rate, the number of active cases, current hospital admissions, as well as Covid-19 mortality”.
Several universities told the Sunday Times they had implemented curfews and temperature tests for students, as well as banning social gatherings on campus.
“Cheering Madness Is dangerous,” Chamisa Speaks On Mnangagwa Sanctions And Thokozani Khupe
Standard

MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa yesterday said the government was using sanctions to divert Zimbabweans’ attention from its failure to deliver on promises to improve citizens’ lives.
The government last night organised a virtual gala to ostensibly put pressure on western countries to lift the sanctions imposed nearly two decades ago.
Last year a similar rally held at the
60 000-seater National Sports Stadium attracted a paltry crowd of 7 000 people despite the government dangling food to the revellers.
Chamisa told The Standard in an interview that last night’s event and the government’s campaign against sanctions through the public media was a distraction.
“Zimbabweans should take the day as an opportunity to imagine a better future without hunger, poverty, police brutality, abductions, and corruption,” he said.
“It’s a collective task for every Zimbabwean to imagine a Zimbabwe without the vices of bad governance from the current government.”
He added: “This should be a day of intercession, pastors, bishops and priests should reflect on the real source of the problems Zimbabweans face.
“It should be a solidarity day to the suffering of Zimbabweans and victimised citizens.”
Zimbabwe has been facing its worst economic crisis in a decade characterised by high prices of goods, liquidity challenges, increased poverty levels as well as unemployment.
Mnangagwa and his ruling party have blamed the sanctions for the problems.
When he came to power, Mnangagwa said sanctions should never be used as a scapegoat for failure.
But two months as president, Mnangagwa changed course when the economy deteriorated and started blaming the sanctions for the meltdown.
His party has also accused Chamisa and one of his deputies, Tendai Biti, of inviting the sanctions.
Mnangagwa’s government has lobbied the Southern African Development Community and the African Union to back its anti-sanctions call.
Chamisa, however, said the biggest challenges facing Zimbabwe today included “bad governance, corruption, illegitimacy of the government emanating from a stolen mandate and not sanctions”.
He said Zanu PF was good at explaining causes of problems, and not solutions because it was aware that sanctions were not the major source of the country’s problems.
“Jingles, slogans, adverts, galas, protests will not solve the problem. It is high time Sadc should wake up and smell the coffee,” Chamisa said.
“Let Sadc see its own Zimbabwe without problems.
“Let Sadc do a reality check or it risks being irrelevant to the African problem.”
He added: “Sadc should remove the tinted glasses and have a proper reflection of Zimbabwe.
“Everything is not rosy and Sadc should not see celebratory fireworks where there is a dangerous fire. Sadc should not be part of the problem, but the solution.
“Cheering madness is dangerous because the madness will also affect you as a neighbour.
“You don’t cure a disease by lying to yourself.”
Chamisa dismissed charges that he and his party campaigned for the sanctions.
“Chamisa is not a god, he is not a state that rapes people, abducts people. Chamisa is not billions of dollars that disappear,” he charged.
“Chamisa is also not the one who manipulates the institutions of the state.
“Don’t give me the powers that I don’t have. I don’t control Washington. I don’t have such powers.”
He said Mnangagwa’s government’s rule was based on lies and deceptions.
“That is why we have a senior government official holding a press conference to announce that Chamisa is training soldiers in (Moldova),” Chamisa added.
“We have officialised lies in order to elevate foolish claims to the level of policy.”
Meanwhile, Chamisa said he was not losing sleep over manoeuvres by the Thokozani Khupe-led MDC-T to decimate his MDC Alliance.
Mnangagwa last week formally recognised Khupe as the official leader of the opposition after the former deputy prime minister sneaked back into Parliament under controversial circumstances.
“I don’t have time for Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora (interim MDC-T secretary-general),” Chamisa said.
“I know they are simply playing a script handed to them by Zanu PF, enforced by captured institutions.
“They are going nowhere. In fact, they are history. People always settle political disputes.”
Khupe is using a Supreme Court ruling that said she was the legitimate interim leader of the MDC-T after she was elbowed out in the battle to succeed the late Morgan Tsvangirai by Chamisa.
The MDC Alliance, however, insists that it broke ranks with Khupe before the 2018 elections and she has no right to take over legislators and councillors of a party that defeated her in the polls.
Police Gun Down Another Armed Robber

A suspected armed robber was shot dead on Friday night in Esigodini after attempting to attack police details who were effecting an arrest on him.
The suspected robber, identified as Mbekezeli Nxumalo (38) of Ntabende Village under Chief Sigola in Esigodini, was shot dead after pulling out a machete from a vehicle and attempting to attack police. Nxumalo was in the company of Gracious Moyo (35) and Prince Mpofu (21) of the same village when they were approached by police but his accomplices surrendered while Nxumalo sought to attack the security details.
National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident yesterday. Asst Comm Nyathi said police received a report of a robbery on Friday morning from a female complainant who said she had been accosted by four men in a black Toyota Corolla who robbed her of two cellphones, a Mobicell and Itel A56, a torch, a hand pump and an amplifier, all worth US$395.
“Police went to search for the suspects and as they were at Ntabende Business Centre they met the second complainant, a man who gave them the description of the same vehicle and said he had been robbed of US$1 300 and R250 in cash, a gold scale, a torch, a Hisense cellphone, a Tecno phone, a Huawei phone, a solar light and a gold scale,” he said.
Asst Comm Nyathi said the police continued their search and came across the described vehicle at night but the suspects took off upon being confronted by the police. He said officers gave chase and shot the rear left tyre forcing the vehicle to stop.
“Upon stopping, two suspects disembarked from the vehicle with their hands up and as the police approached the vehicle the driver emerged with a machete in his hand, leading the police to shoot him and he died on the spot,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
Police recovered the vehicle, car registration vehicle number, AAU 3360, which Asst Comm Nyathi said turned out to be a fake plate as a search confirmed it was for another vehicle. Police also recovered was a machete, axe, catapult, a nine-pound hammer and a chisel, which are believed to have been used to commit various crimes.
According to community members who talked to Sunday News, the two arrested suspects revealed they were operating with a fourth suspect who is still at large and is the one who took possession of the stolen property.
They said there has bee a worrying trend of crime in the area in the past five days that has seen a number of criminal acts being committed that included rape, assaults, armed robbery and attempted murder.
Community leader Mr Luckson Mnkandla of Ntabende Village said they were happy with the apprehension of the suspects as there had been an upsurge in the number of violent crimes taking place within the areas.
“Several villagers have been victims of the armed robberies and it was a worrying trend for us. We hope the police manage to deal with these criminals as people were now afraid to even stay in their own homes,” he said.
More Children Flocking Back To Schools, Govt Adamant Schools Are Ready

Government says it is prepared for the second phase of the schools opening on Monday which will see pupils in Grade Six, Form Three and Lower Sixth classes going back to school following nearly seven months since schools closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In an interview, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said Government had put in place necessary measures to ensure the phased reopening of schools goes well, despite challenges brought about by Covid-19.
Minister Mutsvangwa said the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education was working tirelessly to ensure that schools open and that pupils receive the best education under the circumstances.
“Schools are already open for exam classes that is the Grade Sevens, Form Fours and Upper Sixth. They are now preparing to write examinations. When it comes to the second phase of schools opening on the 26th (October), the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has been working on full throttle to make sure that the Form Threes, Lower Sixth and Grade Sixes, they all commence, and all the other classes will start on the 9th of November.
“We have made sure as a Government that we provide education to our children in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic. There has been a lot of preparation done to make sure that we put all the measures in place to contain the spread of this Covid-19,” she said.
Primary and Secondary Education Minister Ambassador Cain Mathema said as far as Government was concerned the teachers were at their respective schools. He said there were no schools where teachers have not reported for duty.
“We are ready for the schools opening. There is no school where there are no teachers. If you know any please let us know,” he said.
This is despite some teachers threatening to boycott lessons in an effort to push for a salary review. Minister of Public Service and Social Welfare Professor Paul Mavima said Government has remained committed to address the realistic concerns of teachers.
Meanwhile, Government will this week ramp up monitoring of teacher attendance in schools in order to assess staffing gaps and determine areas that need additional educators to cover for those not reporting for duty. Provincial and district education officers will intensify daily assessments of teachers’ attendance registers at schools in order to establish staffing gaps which could be covered by hiring more teachers.
Already, Government has recruited 2 300 teachers, with an additional 3 000 to be added to ensure Standard Health Operating Procedures are effected properly. The monitoring will also allow authorities to evaluate the extent to which this year’s syllabus has been covered and the methods that can be deployed to help pupils catch up.
Matabeleland Chiefs Tell Mnangagwa To Keep His Hands Off Gukurahundi Victims Graves
Standard

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has given in to demands by traditional leaders, who want the government to take a back seat in the exhumation and reburial of victims of army atrocities.
Mnangagwa, who made the concession after meeting chiefs from Matabeleland and Midlands provinces in Bulawayo yesterday, initially wanted the government to take a leading role in the process targeting victims of the 5th Brigade buried in mass graves and mineshafts across the two provinces.
The meeting was a follow-up to another one he held with the chiefs in June 2019.
According to resolutions by the traditional leaders in consultative meetings in their areas of jurisdiction, the government cannot take a leading role in the reburials.
The chiefs also expressed frustration over endless consultative meetings without any involvement of the victims of the atrocities, commonly known as Gukurahundi.
“Going forward, his Excellency undertook
to meet the national chiefs’ council led by Chief Charumbira next week to frame details on the next steps in moving the matter forward and also to provide comprehensive responses to ancillary issues raised by the chiefs in respect to their areas of jurisdiction and in their regions,” Local Government minister July Moyo said.
Moyo had earlier presented the chiefs’ position in the closed-door meeting with Mnangagwa.
“The consensus that emerged from the two reports (by chiefs Siansali and Nyangazonke) was that in addressing the issue of exhumations and reburials, care should be taken to respect different customs of each area and community,” he said.
“To that end, issues of exhumations and reburials should be led and guided by chiefs as the custodians of customs and culture in their areas of jurisdictions.”
Matabeleland North and South traditional leaders were represented by Chief Siansali and Chief Nyangazonke respectively.
Mnangagwa was already under pressure from pressure groups, victims and other activists against his involvement in the exercise as they argued he was conflicted since he was State Security minister at the time of the massacres.
He was also taken to the High Court in August by Ibhetshu LikaZulu pressure group, the opposition Zapu and Gukurahundi victim Charles Thomas, who also protested the same.
The High Court, however, ruled against them.
Last year, Mnangagwa also attracted the anger of Gukurahundi survivors following announcements that the government would fast-track exhumations of Gukurahundi victims.
Bulawayo-based Ukuthula Trust, an independent body of forensic archaeologists and forensic anthropologists, has also argued that families and not the state have a say in the exhumation and reburial of Gukurahundi victims.
Ukuthula Trust has exhumed scores of Gukurahundi victims since the late 90s.
In 2019, Ukuthula Trust exhumed the bodies of Justin Tshuma and Thembi Ngwenya in Tsholotsho’s Enkwalini community, who were killed by the Fifth Brigade in March 1983.
Ukuthula Trust has, however, said only a few thousand, if not hundreds, of remains of Gukurahundi victims can be exhumed as others lie in mass graves and mine shafts where exhumations are problematic and near impossible under international norms and standards.
On Bail Top Cop Arrested Again On Another Charge
Correspondent

Suspended Zimbabwe Republic Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Crispen Charumbira has been charged with defeating the course of justice after he allegedly ordered the release of an illegal gold dealer, who had been arrested by his subordinates.
Charumbira, who appeared before Harare magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti yesterday, was granted $10 000 bail and remanded to November 11 pending trial.
Allegations are that sometime in June 2019 detectives from the minerals unit arrested one David Mucheche in Mutare for contravening a section of the Gold Trade Act after he was found in possession of gold without a licence.
The detectives allegedly escorted Mucheche to Mutare Central Police Station and on arrival the detectives briefed their officer in charge Inspector Felix Machaka about the arrest.
It is alleged that while briefing Machaka one David Crobsy entered the office talking on the phone and he handed it to Machaka advising him that Charumbira wanted to talk to him.
Prosecutors alleged that Charumbira unlawfully directed Machaka to release Mucheche without confirmation of existence of a licence, recording the exhibit in any official book and without pressing any changes against him as well as not ordering the return of the gold to Mucheche.
It is alleged that Machaka complied with the order and the suspect was released.
Charumbira’s instructions were allegedly unlawful, according to the state.
The CID boss was arrested by the Special Anti-Corruption Unit (Sacu) last month after his subordinates alleged that he was interfering with their duties by protecting drug and gold dealers after accepting bribes.
One of the cases involves Crosby from Mutare, who is a suspected illegal gold dealer.
Charumbira’s subordinates claim that sometime in April last year he foiled a raid on Crosby after he was allegedly bribed.
Sacu said it was still investigating a number of other allegations against the top cop.
OPINION: AU/ECOWAS Dont Be Silent, Act Now
The recent uproot of dictatorial democracy in Mali, saw the AU/ ECOWAS quickly marshalling forces with sanctions to restore it, simply because it affected a dear club member of some unconcerned leaders of Africa.
The current situation in Nigeria is bordering on violation of human rights, freedom and justice, yet the leaders of Nigeria are yet to be sanctioned.
The Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute ( KNII) is in SOLIDARITY with the Nigerian and African Youth.
We believe that guided by socio-scientific leadership the youth can sustain the demand against- “THE TOOLS OF SYSTEMIC INSTITUTIONAL SUBJUGATION such as the SARS”.
All should beware of tribal/religious DIVISIVE TENDENCIES and NEVER allow them to be used to quench the collective desire for a just and progressed society.
The agitated situation in Nigeria, this time around requires religious harmony in the country to be used to help chart the path for a New Nigeria and to give hope to all African youth
The soul of Nigeria ought to be healed through the positive participation of all the Stakeholders of the society, ie- Kings/Chiefs, Leaders of Religious Councils, Labour Unions, Youth Groups,CSOs and identifiable bodies based on social harmony, sense of purpose, the destiny and future of Nigeria and the need for a good neighborly coexistence.
A New Nigeria can be built with a new type of leadership conscious of the people’s needs and necessity for equality, justice and freedom.
The Federal Republic of Nigeria is indeed, the microcosm of a United States of Africa and so any civil unrest there must be of concern to Africans everywhere.
The AU and ECOWAS ought to do more by calling the Government of Nigeria to respect basic human rights.
They have to openly condemned the killing, harassment, bullying and the unjustifiable arrest of citizens.
The KNII, expresses its sincere condolences to the bereaved families brutalised and killed in the hands of SARS.
Africa must rise up. It’s time to build an atmosphere that guarantees work and happiness.
Africans are getting fed up with the so called Institutional democratic space used to protect a handful of people in power.
It’s time for the grassroots to begin to evaluate their roles in governance and exercise their franchise wisely during elections in every State in Africa.
It’s time to stop the Congo crisis; completely End SARS and its related antisocial forces in Nigeria; the Femicide in South Africa;the Zimbabwe crisis; the Libyan unrest etc, especially when the AU claims this year 2020 is the year of silencing the Guns.
This brings to mind the question as to whether or not the AU/ ECOWAS has failed in their duties and responsibilities to the people of Africa, and the answer seems to be an unequivocal YES.
This calls for the debate on how to make the AU and other Subregional bodies more representative of the masses with a drastic departure from its control by a selected few people in power pretending to serve the interest of all citizens.
The disconnection between the African citizens and the Continental and Regional bodies is increasingly noticeable. These institutions established to check bad governance among others in African States are becoming ineffective through its top echelon in solving the prevailing challenging events across the continent.
The current unhealthy and acidic socio-economic and political circumstances in Africa ought to be remedied through the direct participation of Africans in the exercise of their franchise to determine who leads them at the Subregional and Continental Authority and also ensure the people’s ownership of the affairs of the Continent.
Reasonably, the era for redemptive leadership in Africa is now to stop the carnage, atrocities and the suffering induced economic policies deeping poverty, hunger and diseases.
And so,the uncontested solution to the contemporary African challenges is the search for forsighted leaders, reminiscent of the many good ones that we had after independence.
Africa is yearning for a type of leader who will be a credible superintendent over the wealth and resources of the continent on behalf of the collective.
It is in this vein, that the Kwame Nkrumah ideological Institute( KNII) adds its voice to the numerous calls for the extension of the Nomination Deadline for the African Union Commission (AUC) topmost position, to encourage a transparent democratic exercise, else it constitutes a forceful seizure/capture of the AUC Seal of Authority and the Key to the African Continental Free Trade Area ( AfCFTA) through an undemocratic means-for allowing the Chairmanship position go uncontested- against the RULES of the AU.
A NEW AFRICA IS NOW

FULL TEXT: Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi Statement on Anti-Sanctions Day
It has been one year since the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the
Southern African Development Community (SADC) declared 25th October as the day for SADC to campaign as a region for the unconditional removal of sanctions imposed on the Republic of Zimbabwe.
While significant progress has been made since the decision was made in 2019,
Zimbabwe remains under sanctions that significantly undermine the country’s capacity to respond to socio-economic challenges that include three successive droughts; recovery from the effects of Tropical Cyclone Idai; poor access to affordable lines of credit on the global market; and servicing of her debt obligations. The prevailing COVID-19 pandemic has further placed serious constraints on the Government of Zimbabwe’s ability to fund programmes, as well as investments in key economic sectors. SADC, therefore, reiterates the call for these sanctions to be unconditionally lifted for Zimbabwe to improve the livelihoods of her citizens, and develop unhindered.
We are encouraged that SADC’s call has received some attention, and as such we
applaud the recent call by the United Nations Secretary General, Dr. Antonio Guterres, and the UN Human Rights Commission, for the removal of unilateral coercive measures, as they have significant negative impacts on access to COVID-19 prevention measures and post recovery efforts.
We are acutely aware that the continuation of sanctions not only impacts negatively on socio-economic progress in Zimbabwe, but also on the attainment of the SADC Vision 2050, the African Union Agenda 2063 and ultimately the 2030 United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development.
As SADC, we fully support the very constructive re-engagement dialogue between the Republic of Zimbabwe and her global partners, including those that have maintained sanctions on Zimbabwe. We call on all progressive forces to lend diplomatic, political and moral support to the re-engagement efforts.
As the world grapples with containing the COVID-19 pandemic, and mobilizing
resources aimed at building resilient economies, it is important to observe the
collective resolve that has been built to ensure that everybody is on board, in line with the UN Member States’ pledge to ensure no one is left behind. For SADC as a region, the call for the unconditional removal of sanctions assumes even greater importance.
It is not just a solidarity call in support of Zimbabwe, but also a clarion call for justice, fairness and full enjoyment of human rights. The sanctions are no longer relevant, and are detrimental to the socio-economic development and self-determination of Zimbabweans.
On a very encouraging and positive note, SADC notes with satisfaction the resolve of the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and of His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa, to continue implementing reforms aimed at stabilising the economy and the financial sector. Furthermore, we continue to witness political and legislative reforms that have seen, among others, the Public Order and Security Act (POSA); Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA); and the Indigenization and Economic Empowerment Act being repealed, and efforts to align
legislation with the Constitution of Zimbabwe. The recently concluded landmark Global Compensation Deed Agreement, signed between the Government of Zimbabwe and former farm-owners, is evidence of the Government’s commitment to address the contentious issues emanating from the land reform programme, which was introduced to redress historical land inequalities that existed along racial and class lines.
As SADC, we reaffirm the urgency of the removal of all sanctions imposed on the Republic
of Zimbabwe. The sanctions must be removed now for the good of the region and the world.

I Dont Have Time For Khupe, Mwonzora, Says Chamisa
Opposition MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa has dismissed the rival MDC-T faction leaders Dr Thokozani Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora saying accusing them of playing handed to them by the ruling Zanu PF.
He made the remarks during an interview with a local weekly, The Standard.
Chamisa said both Mwonzora and Khupe were political history as the arbitrators of politics, the people had overwhelmingly rejected their project.
“I don’t have time for Khupe and Douglas Mwonzora (interim MDC-T secretary-general),” Chamisa said.
“I know they are simply playing a script handed to them by Zanu PF, enforced by captured institutions.
“They are going nowhere. In fact, they are history. People always settle political disputes.” he added.
‘Chamisa is Not A god, He Is Not A State That Rapes People”
By Jane Mlambo| Opposition MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has scoffed at the Zanu PF sponsored anti-sanctions e-gala saying the real issues that need to be address are well known to the state though they chose to believe their own lies.
In an interview with a local weekly, The Standard, Chamisa said he is not responsible for the abduction and rape of people to be accused of causing the imposition of sanctions on the country.
“Chamisa is not a god, he is not a state that rapes people, abducts people. Chamisa is not billions of dollars that disappear,” he said.
Chamisa said he had no control over what Washington decides on Zimbabwe.
“Chamisa is also not the one who manipulates the institutions of the state.
“Don’t give me the powers that I don’t have. I don’t control Washington. I don’t have such powers.” he added.
Only 14 People Attend Mnangagwa’s Anti Sanctions Gig | UPDATED……
With all the pomp of a national function, Emmerson Mnangagwa had a kiss of reality Saturday evening when a paltry 14 people turned up to watch his Anti Sanctions Gig.
What is usually a major attendance of music lovers suffered defeat even during the first hour with numbers fast dropping further below.
“Vaharai doti renyu mhani,” one viewer wrote to the ZANU PF Facebook page at around 5pm on Saturday
Emmerson Mnangagwa has set aside October 25 as the Anti Sanctions Day, to protest against the western sanctions slapped on him and his close clique since 2002 over gross human rights violations. But he has not cared this address his own sanctions against the entire population of Zimbabwe since 1983 when he announced that anyone who sides with protesters must be killed using DDT fumigation poison. Video belowOPINION: The Struggle Remains Our Birth Right
By Daniel Molokele| I first met Nixon ‘Mao’ Nyikadzino sometime in 1996.
At that time we were both students at the University of Zimbabwe.
Mao and I soon discovered that we had one thing in common; we were both passionate about students activism.
I had arrived earlier than him in March 1995. By the end of that year I had somehow and almost miraculously managed to get elected as the Secretary General of the entire university students body.
This political miracle happened less than 8 months after I was first oriented into students politics.
So when Mao and his generation arrived at the University of Zimbabwe in 1996, I was already busy finding my feet as one of the prominent students leaders at the university.
The politically minded Mao took to students politics as the duck does to water. It was his natural place of personal comfort and satiation.
In April 1996, an unexpected twist of events led to me being appointed as the Acting President of the students union
It was during those days that I set up my own Revolutionary Command Council (RCC) whose role was to take up all the matters affecting the students union that necessitated a strategic militant approach
And so it happened that Mao was among the militant students who immediately found prominence in that particular RCC
One other student who quickly established himself as one of the most active and influential members of the RCC was none other than the late Learnmore Judah Jongwe.
At that time, he was my classmate at the Faculty of Law. He had actually played a key role in my elections campaign team during the previous year.
As a result, Jongwe had grown closer to me as one of my emerging political allies.
In the few months that followed, both Mao and Jongwe played a crucial role in helping me to establish myself as the new leader of the entire students body.
In July 1996, they both helped me to organise some students demonstrations that eventually led to my suspension with Jongwe, together with Tirivanhu Chitongo, who was the Acting Vice President at that time.
We were suspended for almost 2-3 months before being reinstated to campus.
Once we got back to campus, our budding political partnership was soon put under a severe test.
Both Jongwe and myself set our eyes on winning the presidential elections that were set for October 1996.
It is happened that while we were preparing to contest against each other, Mao was eventually forced to make a difficult choice as to which political horse to back exactly.
In the end, Mao threw all his weight fully behind Jongwe.
It was during the presidential elections campaign period that Mao rose to real prominence as one of Jongwe’s key campaign managers and strategists.
After the presidential elections that we were won by Jongwe, Mao continued to work closely with our administration.
He soon established himself as the Commander of our new RCC.
This was also at the same time that he assumed a second nickname and became known as the ‘General’.
Throughout the Jongwe Presidency, Mao remained a closely ally.
Once our term of office came to its end, Mao decided to run for the Presidency.
In the end, he succeeded me directly as the next Vice President of the students body after losing out to Gabriel “Marechera’ Shumba.
Beyond his days as a students leader on campus, Mao continued his activism and soon became a prominent civil society leader.
Some of the organisations that he worked closely with included the National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) and the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition.
In fact he worked for Crisis at both of their offices in Harare and Johannesburg.
It so happened that after many years of serving as a prominent civil society leader that in 2018, Mao assumed a totally different trajectory on the national agenda.
Mao rose to yet another higher level of national prominence after he emerged as the new Secretary General of the reconstituted MDC T led by Thokozani Khupe.
For the next 2 years, Mao played his role diligently in the most difficult of both political and administrative circumstances.
However, his role as the Secretary General was eventually disrupted by the implications of the so called Supreme Court ‘Corona’ judgment.
During the political confusion that arose out of the controversial judgment, Mao initially played a crucial role in the public domain.
His stance was mainly to insist that the Corona judgment did not directly affect the MDC T leadership that had been elected at the Bulawayo Congress in 2018.
At one stage, he even wrote his own version of the now notorious ‘recall letters’ to the Speaker of Parliament but it was totally ignored in favour of the ones written by Douglas Mwonzora.
As the months of fierce opposition political contestation trudged on, Mao eventually took a back seat and almost disappeared totally from the public domain.
It is in that context, that I met him by chance at one of the local hotels in Harare.
I was so happy to meet my dearest political brother after a very long time.
What made our encounter more special was the fact that we met during the same week that we were commemorating the 18th anniversary of the death of our mutual brother, Jongwe.
So naturally, part of our conversation focused a lot on our shared legacy as former prominent student leaders together with the late Jongwe.
Govt Proceeds With Phase 2 Schools Reopening Despite Teachers’ Class Boycott
THE Government is prepared for the second phase of the schools opening tomorrow which will see pupils in Grade Six, Form Three and Lower Sixth classes going back to school following nearly seven months since schools closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

I Feel For Chamisa: Jonathan Moyo
By Jane Mlambo| Former Zanu PF politburo member Professor Jonathan Moyo has hit at the Supreme Court ruling that ordered the opposition MDC factions led by Nelson Chamisa and Thokozani Khupe to go back to its 2014 status and elect the late Morgan Tsvangirai successor, calling it an absurdity as it tried to retrieve a party that had died with its leader on the 14th of February 2018.
Posting a thread on Twitter, Professor Moyo said the courts should have accepted that with Tsvangirai dead and Khupe and Chamisa having contested separately, MDC-Tsvangirai was water under the bridge which cannot be retrieved.
“The situation that the MDC-Tsvangirai should go back to its 2014 structures, and proceed from there to reconstruct itself without Morgan Tsvangirai is an absurdity. That this absurdity has been enabled by a Supreme Court judgment is a tragedy. A court must not cause an absurdity!
“What aggravates the absurdity & exposes the dirty tricks is that the Supreme Court agreed that, with Tsvangirai dead; Khupe & Chamisa having contested in the 2018 elections separately, the MDC-Tsvangirai party was water under the bridge. And no new bridge can retrieve that water!
“Given the Supreme Court judgment on the absurd resurrection of the MDC-Tsvangirai, when it had become water under the bridge, I feel for Advocate @nelsonchamisa. In Mnangagwa’s rogue regime, one can’t be an officer of the court and an effective opposition leader at the same time,” said Moyo.

Illegal Mining Affects Water Supply In Masvingo. ..

I Will Not Beg Players To Respond To Call For National Duty -Logarusic

Government Threatens Striking Teachers Again

Teachers Say Steep School Fees Hike Is Daylight Robbery

“All Teachers Are At Work” Minister Says Schools Fully Equipped Against COVID-19
The Minister of Education Cain Mathema who 2 weeks ago claimed that striking teachers are in fact at work, has announced saying schools will be equipped with the requisite Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the safety of pupils, teachers and support staff is guaranteed.
Mathema was speaking over the opening of schools.
“We are prepared and ready to open schools under the second phase,” Minister Mathema was quoted by the state owned Sunday Mail saying.
He continued saying:
-Sunday Mail

- Recalls of Elected Representatives: The National Council received a comprehensive briefing on the capture of state institutions that have been used to fraudulently elevate Ms Khupe to Parliament and recall duly elected Members of Parliament and local government representatives in a clear breach of the will of the people.
The Council noted its strong displeasure with these unconstitutional acts and the continued onslaught on the will of the people.
The recalled MDC Alliance officials remain committed to serving the people notwithstanding what has transpired.

- By-Elections: Preparations for by-elections are at an advanced stage. The Council received a detailed elections report.
All systems are in place to ensure that the party is well-positioned to carry out its mandate in respect of the people.
The demand for a free, fair and credible electoral process that accords with the constitutional standard and for the wholesale reform of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and the electoral playing field were re-affirmed.
- Health of the Party: The National Council took note of the sound health of the party as all branches and structures are solid and growing.
The strategic focus shall be directed towards energizing the basis with a particular emphasis on the rural strategy.
Action will be taken on implementing programmes centred around the party’s big fights, namely, the fight for the return to legitimacy and democracy, the fight for a people’s Government, the fight against corruption, the fight for better livelihoods and the fight in defence of the Constitution and Constitutionalism.
Attention will be devoted to renewing the institutional and administrative capacity of the party as well as developing modern, data-driven protocols and systems that are in tune with the demands of the communities the party serves.
The party will update all policies in line with the changing realities and new
threats and emerging opportunities.
The National Council committed to remaining unwavering in championing the cause of the Zimbabwean people, being the legitimate voice of the suffering masses and leading a broad front to confront Zanu PF in the fight to win Zimbabwe for change.

WHEN THE PUNISHED DOES NOT KNOW REASON WHY.
The Ediots are gathered for a gala to remove sanctions imposed by America and EU on Sunday.
They have imported the help of SADC and AU to front the band of noise makers. For a moment if you just look at the skin colour and regionalism you could be quick to believe a lie that we have heard for years.
If you are outside Zimbabwe and never seen rural people surviving on CARE International or USAID donations you could easily believe the Ediots. When you hear them say sanctions have ruined the lives of Zimbabwean you would imagine another Zimbabwe we all do not know. Is it the same Zimbabwe which had sanctions during Smith regime, yet its currency and economy was stronger than those imposing sanctions on it?
Are we still talking of a Zimbabwe with the great Dyke that stretches from Limpopo to Zambezi. The dyke that has more than 60 precious minerals, the Zimbabwe that discovered a diamond field that has never been discovered by any other country in years, a Zimbabwe that host one of 7 wonders of the world- the Victoria falls.
Help me understand if it is the same Zimbabwe that has the red clay soils in its region one and two, the best climate in the region.
Remind me if I am wrong to say Zimbabwe you refer is the one that has the continent’s oldest river that has never dried-Save, the pure and sweet waters of Shangani, Mupfure, Mazowe, Nyadire, Lundi, Kairezi just to mention a few of them that empty their “breasts” to mother sea, yet our own people have dry tapes and dry fields.
Save a moment and try to educate me if America and EU came and took away the orange trees in Mazowe, the coffee and tea plantations of Chipinge?
I last saw an orange from Mazowe long time. The sweet sugar cane of Hippo valley has since vanished. All the canals that delivered water to the low veld must have broken and God has stopped the water to flow that direction.
Can some one help me understand if the timber forest of Chipinge, Chimanimani and Nyanga have stopped growing because of EU and US sanctions. I am yet to understand how best we can do to have pine trees grow without these sanctions.
May your grace flow towards me and tell me how America closed Shabani mine that our dear “spokesman” took from Mutumwa because he was not able to run it. How did America took this mine right under the nose of “our” government?
I use to enjoy carpenters from Kariba. Tell us. Have the Americans stopped people from fishing from our own dams? How dare sanction tell the fish not to come out of our own waters? The dams spread all over the country, all left by these “colonialist” have also decided not to give out fish and water to irrigate and drink. All they accept is sand from our cultivation activities.
We still wait for EU and US to remove their sanctions in order to revamp our electricity generators. When Chivhayo is given tender to put solar panels sanctions always block him.
By the way when last did we see Westnickleson working. What happened to the cattle? Just help me understand how Roy Bennet ended up taking the whole head of cattle that was in the ranches. If my memory serve me well Roy was locked up in prison for asking for his bull from Chinamasa. How did they end up taking these cattle. I miss the CSC A grade meat, the tinned beef or just Matumbu. The skins that made my path finders and the ox blood that made the best shoe polish.Did America came and took the cattle that were grazing God given grass? By the way what do cattle want from America to breed in vast lands we always had?
Through the parliamentary committees and the Auditor General reports, I am told that money is just vanishing. From their figures its always US dollars that vanishes . Billions disappear. I wonder if America bring US dollars in Zimbabwe only to steal it from our hands. My concern is that while no gala has ever been held to find out what has taken our Marange dimond’s 15billion, a gala to investigate how we can recover money lost in farm mechanisation exercises or even the commando of all money disappearances, the command agriculture scheme. Why no gala is held to find out why we are short of food when money invested is far more than what we got.
Don’t you think we now need a gala to find where our own money is going?
Ooooh I am running astray now. The topic is sanction.
By the way ZDERA “yatirwadza”. The demand at the gala is sanctions must go unconditionally. Even SADC and AU have also said so. What are the conditions US demanding that we do not even want to meet? The hard conditions which AU and SADC are shaking with furry that their sister country is “unjustifiably” punished.
i) Restore rule of law in Zimbabwe.
ii) Hold free and fair elections in Zimbabwe
iii) Have a legal , equitable and transparent distribution of land of Zimbabwe to only Zimbabweans
iv) Have a Zimbabwean military institution that subject itself to civilian authority
As for EU they are just saying to their own people, no one must sell Zimbabwe defence forces arms and ammunition.
Aa ngachitsve vakomana. Izvi zvinotoda gala izvi. Imagine you are telling Dzamara’s wife, or Tawanda Muchehiwa. Imagine you meet Tonderai Ndira’s wife, family members of August first shootings. What are you expecting them to say about the “harsh” conditions given by America?
If you walk in the streets of Harare that have voted for 20 years hoping to change things in a peaceful means, those that wrote objections against what ZEC did to put a person they never chose. Try convince them that free and fair election is not worth a condition.
Those with houses that were destroyed on allegations that they are not on legal stand. Try convince them that its not a reason to ask for legal and transparent land reform. May your good memory remember those with short sleeves as they limb for their rest of lives. Think about them in your gala and imagine on what you say is not worth of conditions.
Those that lost their pension contribution, savings , medical aids, insurances or funeral policies must be educated to understand why rule of law is not worth a condition.
If you have a heart and seen how police and army behave to Zimbabweans with black skin that has never been to America or Europe, then think about an army that has no authority of civilians as a condition that cannot be accepted.
What do you have to say to a Chief Justice that turn up to be an activist? He demands that all other judges submit their judgements for marking. What law is this?
When you are an Ediot try not talk too much. The worst sanction Zimbabwe has ever had is Zanu.
As you dance kongonya against “American sanctions” remember to keep a distance from your bosses. They looted the Covid 19 funds. There is no more hospitals. For the first time in history America has “planted” a fake doctor at parirenyatwa hospital. Reporting for duty every day without being noticed. How many more of these fake Drs and minister without health acting as ministers of health. All blame is America. Ever since have we ever heard of a fake Dr reporting for duty at a government hospital? The citizens lives are at risk. Do we need America to come and check our duty rosters?
A chief’s wife who is corruptly appointed town planner is busy looting. Upon arresting she cannot fit in a cell. But a young man spend months in prison just for standing 101m from Impala. Does that need America to come and check.
For record sanctions are good for us citizens of Zimbabwe. If America could do more to those that abuse citizens, killers and looters deserve more than sanctions
DDF Fails To Repair Boreholes In Rural Areas
Farai Dziva| A critical shortage of water has hit communities in Zaka.
Water points are dry while boreholes need to be fixed as a matter of urgency.
Speaking during a feedback meeting facilitated by Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD) in ward 18, villagers said they had been reduced to water scavengers.
The situation is getting worse owing to lack of repair and maintenance of boreholes and water points by the District Development Fund (DDF) department and the Rural District Council.
The villagers have reportedly engaged ward 18 councillor Mr Mativenga and the Ward Development Committee (WADCO) over the water challenges.
However, the community members are worried about government’s lame duck approach to the critical problem.
According to villagers, the situation on the ground is pathetic.
A local community borehole which serves Maputsa, Marufu, Chongore, Gaza and other local villages is currently not functioning.
The community members have been previously making contributions for the refurbishment of local boreholes.
“Villagers are now drawing water from unprotected shallow wells along Mushavhutwi River and Makambe Dam.
These water sources are being used by both humans and livestock, posing serious health risks to the people” said one community member.
Headman Madzivire, a WADCO member for Ward 18 confirmed the negotiations involving the Councillor, WADCO and COTRAD portfolio committee on water supply over the matter were in progress.
Improving access to clean water is critical especially during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
“COTRAD will continue to engage the local council and public officials until the water crisis is rectified.
Access to clean water is a constitutional right as enshrined in section 77 that, every person has the right to clean and safe water”, said Kupfuwa Ishmael, a COTRAD official.
