Police should have acted promptly over complaints that Delatfin Investments (Pvt) Limited director Felix Munyaradzi was involved in double allocation of residential stands in Sandton, Harare regional magistrate Mr Ngoni Nduna said yesterday.
He said the failure to act by the police was tantamount to misconduct as action should have been taken when the reports were initially made at Marborough Police Station last October.
He made the comments as he rejected Munyaradzi’s bail application on four counts of fraud.
“The police could be accountable for misconduct, as they kept the matter without action after it having been reported in 2019. Something should have been done over the said period,” he said.
Mr Nduna said there was a possibility that Munyaradzi could interfere with investigations since most of the evidence lies at his company.
Rejecting the application for bail, the magistrate said he considered the relationship between the accused and his employees, since receipts and records are with his employees.
“There is need to ring-fence that evidence and that can only be achieved by remanding the accused in custody.”
Mr Nduna remanded Munyaradzi in custody to August 8, 2020 for his routine remand.
The State led by Mr Michael Reza had opposed Munyaradzi’s bail application saying he was likely to abscond, as more than 50 complaints had been raised against him.
Mr Reza called the investigations officer Superintendent Misheck Ngorima, who expressed fears that Munyaradzi would interfere with investigations.
Munyaradzi, through his lawyer Wellington Pasipanodya, cross-examined Supt Ngorima and filed written submissions-The Herald

By A Correspondent | There was drama when a self confessed CIO agent was caught with a cellphone inside her underwear after prowling the MDC three, Joana, Cecilia, and Netsai near the Harare Central Police station.
The incident happened yesterday at around 2.20pm.
The trio’s lawyer, Jeremiah Bamu told ZimEye how at approximately 1420hrs on 3 Aug 2020, the CIO agent in the yellow mask (pictured) was trailing the trio after they had gone to the police to comply with their reporting obligations.
She was caught taking them pics, recording short videos and sending to CIO whatsapp groups. She refused to comply with legitimate demands to delete the footage she had taken and defied police directives to that effect, insisting she was a CIO agent and demanded to see the officer in charge. She further demanded to be taken to CID Law and Order but the trio kept insisting that she delete her footage. The DISPOL subsequently came and caused the pics footage to be deleted and said he was seizing the phone for further investigations from the CID cyber lab. He also made sure a report was recorded in the occurrence Book.
He also advised that the CIO agent was being detained for an undisclosed offence.
She was however set free and seen taking away in the Mazda vehicle with ZANU PF branded material.

I note with concern a statement posted by Zimpost from a supposed ghost writer purporting with an unusual confidence that Bishop Ancelimo Magaya met with some individuals to plot bombings, acts of Arson and other criminal actions to bolster the 31st of July demonstration. Normally I would not want to sanitize such statements by responding to them.
However, my attention was caught by the effort put by this fellow’s creative architecture of lies. I could not help but wonder what was or is behind this person’s inspiration.
For the record
Hiding is not part of my vocabulary as I have nothing to hide from. While I am a law abiding citizen here I also answer to God’s supreme law therefore anything that threatens peace is not in my make up.
I have always spoken Truth to power and am not ashamed to say the true church of Christ is concerned with Human Rights Peace and justice. Any deviation from this we rebuke, warn and advise in accordance with th word of God.
Proverbs 29:2 With good men in Authority, the people rejoice, but with the wicked in power, they groan.
The abject poverty ravaging our nation while evil deeds including unbriddled corruption persist in High offices cannot continue without Church’s rebuke.
To the originator of the mischevious article Exodus 23:1 Do not spread false reports. Do not help th wicked man by being a malicious witness.
Proverbs 19:9 A false witness will not go unpunished and he who pours out lies will not go unpunished.
When wickedness persists, people commit murders, loot resources from the poor and abductions becoming order of the day, be rest assured the church will become audible and visible against such.
So no amount of propaganda n name tarnishing tactics will deter me.
Further cautions from the word of God for you and your team.
*Johh 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
*But be warned , God is not mocked, whatever a man sows that surely will he reap Gal 6v7
You have done abominable sins and the Lord has kept quiet, you think you and God are the same.
Let your soul pay attention

Farai Dziva|Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has blamed what he called dark forces for the economic crisis in the country.
At a time his government is terrorizing opposition members, Mr Mnangagwa has called for unity, love and tolerance.
Below is part of Mr Mnangagwa’s brief SONA:
We will defeat the attack on our economy. We make no apology for fixing our economy across the political, social and economic spectrum.
We wil continue to strike a balance between peace and stability and protection of civil rights on the other hand.
Reforms that will open up the economy and help entrepreneurs are bearing fruits.
Corruption at all levels must stop.
The dark forces inside and outside our borders have tempered with our growth and development for too long. Let us embrace patriotism, accountability, love and unity.
Let’s defend our country and develop it and not tear it apart by dividing it’s people.
ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa has said those working at weakening his government will be flushed out. The threat came during a televised address today, following an outcry against reported human rights abuses in recent weeks. Activists, a journalist, a writer, and an opposition politician were arrested for allegedly planning, or convening peaceful protests against corruption in Zimbabwe. Security forces embarked on a total crackdown after government described the anti-corruption movement as ‘an attempt to overthrow’ the administration.-SABC
Farai Dziva|Honourable Job Sikhala has urged Zimbabweans to remain focused and united in spite of efforts by Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration to suppress the will of the people.
Below is Honourable Sikhala’s statement :
THANK YOU SOUTH AFRICANS, AFRICA AND THE WORLD :
BY Hon Job Wiwa Sikhala
31st July
Movement.
We the citizens of Zimbabwe take this opportunity to thank the people of South Africa in their various designations, Africa and the world at large for the unprecedented support of Zimbabweans on their tears and sorrows.
The concept of Human rights is universal in character and the people of Zimbabwe have suffered torture, abductions, assassinations for too long a time at the pleasure of the authorities.
From 1980 to present we have never enjoyed happiness in our country of birth.
Speaking against the injustices of the oppressive system became a license to death, torture, abduction and sorrow. We have been sorrowful enough. Enough is enough. Thank you South Africa, Africa and the world.
The 31st of July peaceful expression by the citizens of Zimbabwe in their diversity, invited unprovoked violence against the citizens. The trend Zimbabweans have been exposed to, since 1980 hence #ZimbabweanLivesMatter.
Agencies of the oppressor attempted to trivialize the suffering of our people by attempting to dilute the cry of the world against the injustices upon the people of Zimbabwe by pointing to sanctions.
History has recorded the truth.
There are citizens at the present moment including myself who are being hunted by gun-toting thugs for no apparent reason. Prayers are pouring from all corners of the world. The crime alleged is, why we are speaking against corruption and looting.
Our brothers Hopewell Chin’ono and Jacob Ngarivhume are suffering under incarceration for merely speaking against corruption and looting. Those who are corrupt and looting are smiling in their homes, whilst those speaking against the vice are sleeping in the bushes hiding from harm awaiting them.
Our Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions President Peter Mutasa is in hiding.
So are leaders at all levels in social movements, Obert Masaraure, Jim Kunaka, Godfrey Tsenengamu, Stephen Chuma, Obey Sithole, Ostallos Siziba, Denford Ngadziore, Makomborere Haruzivishe, Allan Moyo and myself are being hunted by gun-toting thugs.
The problems facing Zimbabwe cuts across any form of politics. If our grievances are answered we will go back and stay with our families. STOP Looting. STOP Corruption. STOP Abductions.
STOP Torture. STOP Violence against Citizens. STOP All Forms of Human Rights Abuses.
The week of 10th August to the 15th will be a week of expression. We will not stop raising these issues as long as they are not addressed.
The society of happiness is our dream. Dear Zimbabweans, we shall triumph. Victory is on the horizon. No one will stop an idea whose time has come.
Speak Zimbabwe Speak
Say NO to Looting
NO to Corruption
NO to Abductions
NO to Torture
NO to all Forms of Human Rights Abuses.

The High Court is today expected to hand down judgment in the case in which journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono, and the leader of Transform Zimbabwe Jacob Ngarivhume, are seeking bail pending trial on charges of incitement to commit public violence.
The duo was refused bail at the magistrates’ court prompting them to approach the High Court on appeal.
Justice Tawanda Chitapi heard both applications on Monday and reserved judgment to today, saying he wanted time to study the submissions made in both cases.
In his appeal for bail, Chin’ono who is being represented by lawyer, Ms Beatrice Mtetwa, argued that he never called for violence as claimed by prosecutors, in their bid to have him kept in custody until the matter is finalised.
Ms Mtetwa said the prosecution claim that her client called for protests from July 31 until President Mnangagwa resigned, was mere allegations with no evidence placed before the magistrate who, however, went on to uphold the prosecution assertion.
Mtetwa said it was clear the magistrate failed in the decision to deny Chin’ono bail.
Prosecutor Whisper Mabhaudhi, who appeared for the State, said Chin’ono was not a suitable candidate of bail, saying the fact that July 31 has come and gone peacefully was a new circumstance, cannot be entertained by the court.
Charges against Chin’ono arose after he allegedly posted messages calling for mass demonstrations by any means to overthrow a constitutionally elected Government.
In another case, the convener of the flopped July 31 protests, Ngarivhume, will also know his fate tomorrow.
The pair was denied bail at magistrates’ court on the grounds that they were likely to continue inciting people to rebel against the authorities. –Herald
Farai Dziva|Firebrand EFF commander, Julius Malema has called for the immediate closure of the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in South Africa following the gross violation of human rights by Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.
Malema also said Zanu PF officials should be barred from attending any gathering in South Africa until they respect ordinary Zimbabweans.
“We call for the removal of the Zimbabwean Embassy in SA until they restore the human rights in that country.
Failure to do so, we will prevent any official from the Zimbabwean government from participating in any gathering in SA until they respect ordinary Zimbabweans,” said Malema.
EFF CALLS ON ZIMBABWEAN GOVERNMENT TO FOCUS ON PROTECTING HUMAN RIGHTS AND END STATE-SANCTIONED VIOLENCE AGAINST CITIZENS
Monday, 3 August 2020
The Economic Freedom Fighters has noted the empty condemnation against CIC Julius Malema by a paranoid and misguided ZANU-PF Embassy and party leadership.
This comes after the EFF issued a statement questioning the political and economic logic of compensating white former land-owners for land acquired through the Fast-Track Land Reform Program.
Instead of providing logic for this regression on land-reform, ZANU-PF party leaders have gone on a tirade that simply confirms that the decision comes as a result of succumbing to political pressure and a lack of understanding of the revolutionary history of Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabwean government, which is currently engaged in the torture, incarceration, sexual assault and victimisation of protesters, has no moral authority or standing to claim to speak on behalf of the people of Zimbabwe.
This government, which is compensating thieves with land which was acquired through a revolutionary process, has declared the people of Zimbabwe as enemies, through the deployment of the military to suppress genuine protest.
Journalists are targeted, and it is not the first time, as the Mnangagwa regime has a history of suppressing information, switching of social networks in order to hide the brutalisations of the people of Zimbabwe.
The EFF, therefore, as a movement committed to Pan-African unity, peace and stability in the continent, speaks with authority when it condemns the regression on revolutionary gains that have defined post-colonial Africa.
The fleeting paranoia of ZANU-PF around factions of their organisation does not concern us, and we must never be confused as a part of a faction of ZANU-PF.
The EFF does not owe ZANU-PF any allegiance, and we have now identified them as part of a long-line of oppressive regimes and failing liberation movements which no longer have a vision for the continent.
We are therefore not fazed by the utterances of ZANU-PF officials and reiterate that compensating white former land-owners is a reactionary move that Zimbabwe cannot afford, and these funds should rather be directed in uplifting the livelihoods of ordinary poor Zimbabweans and developing Zimbabwe.
Furthermore, we find it condescending that a diplomat, deployed to the Zimbabwean Embassy in South Africa has taken it upon himself to descend into the political arena with the EFF.
As much as the EFF encourages engagement of its policy positions, it is not the duty of an ambassador who is here to sustain relations between two sovereign governments to engage in a political tussle with domestic opposition parties.
We condemn this in the strongest terms as partisan and undiplomatic behaviour, and it will set a bad precedence for the future.
The ZANU-PF government and particularly the Zimbabwean embassy in South Africa must focus on putting an end to the violence in Zimbabwe instead of frivolous paranoia around G40 factions and the EFF.
We call on the African Union, and all governments in the SADC region to make an intervention in the crimes against humanity being committed by the Mnangagwa-regime against the people of Zimbabwe.
These interventions must be tangible, and we, therefore, call for the removal of the Zimbabwean Embassy in South Africa until human rights are restored in the country, and the lives of people are not taken by a repressive government.
Failure to do this will result in direct action by the EFF to prevent any official of the Zimbabwean government from participating in meeting in South Africa while they wage war on ordinary people in Zimbabwe.
Quiet diplomacy by SADC towards human rights violations in Zimbabwe has never worked, and it will not start working now.
There must be an end to the arrest without trial and victimisation of activists, and all progressive forces must condemn the ZANU-PF government for the brutality it is practising on the people of Zimbabwe.
We cannot keep quiet while a military regime wages war on people in Zimbabwe.

It is with great dismay that I have to deliver this news to you my friends and colleagues. I sometimes experience pain that is so excruciating that I feel like letting go. This disease has taken away our loved ones and continues to do so and this is sad.
It would not be fair for me not to open up because I know I work with a lot of people and I do not want to see them lose their lives. I also owe it to the electorate who voted for me to get into Parliament to represent them.”

By Jane Mlambo| President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed his deputy Constantino Chiwenga to the position of Minister of Health and Child Care to replace Obadiah Moyo who was fired after being arrested on corruption charges.
In a statement from the Chief Secretary to the President Dr Misheck Sibanda, he said Mnangagwa noted the need to “stabilize, restructure and reform the National Health Delivery System to better cope with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the process ensuring a quick turn-around in national healthcare.”
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has urged the nation to move forward as a united force so as to transform and prosper the nation.
Speaking in a surprise state of the nation address at the State House Tuesday morning, Mnangagwa said people should shun divisive elements trying to derail the achievements made so far by his second republic.
“Although our progress has been slowed down, be rest assured that we shall achieve our objectives. We will overcome, we will defeat the attack and stop the bleeding of our economy, we will overcome attempts at destabilisation of our society by a few Zimbabweans acting in league with foreign detractors,” said Pres Mnangagwa.
He said the second republic has faced several challenges from the time it took office. The president said some of these challenges are divisive politics, illegal sanctions by the west, droughts, cyclone Idai and the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
President Mnangagwa emphasised that the second republic will remain guided by pillars of accountability and transparency as it pursues political and economic reforms.
He added that his government will continue to draw inspiration from the departed and living heroes as it thrives to achieve peace and stability.
The president said the vision of becoming an upper-middle-income economy will be archived despite divisive forces working inside and outside the country’s borders to derail it.
ZIMBABWE’s laws are there to safeguard the rights of all citizens and not only opposition parties, Zanu PF secretary for Commissariat Victor Matemadanda has said.
Addressing a Press conference in Harare yesterday, Matemadanda said the Government’s primary responsibility was to prevent violence and uphold constitutionalism.
“We are a constitutional republic where the law is there to protect the rights of all citizens and not only opposition political parties,” said Matemadanda.
“In every constitution the world over, it is provided that there shall be a defence and security force whose work is clearly expressed. It is the duty of any elected government to defend and protect property. No Government will fold its hands while the opposition gangs up to overthrow it.”
He warned the opposition to stop seeking attention from their handlers through tarnishing the image of the country and its leadership.
“We have led protests ourselves, the biggest ever and we led from the front, we never sacrificed other people for our benefit. In fact, we protected our people and offered ourselves.
“The opposition is confused because right now they say everything went according to plan, they never wanted to get onto the streets but to cause work stoppage.
“Why didn’t they tell their supporters that?” queried Matemadanda.
He urged Zimbabweans not to take MDC-A drama queens and kings seriously since they are only interested in enriching themselves.
“To send videos while hiding in the bush is serious drama and not fighting for the people. No one goes to war and expects to win it while hiding,” he said-The Herald
ZANU-PF secretary for administration, Dr Obert Mpofu has joined a number of key political leaders inclusive of President Mnangagwa to open an official Twitter account.
Dr Mpofu who has been actively engaging his followers through his handle @DrObertMpofu said this was a platform for him to share authentic information on the country’s political landscape.
He said while he had suffered abuse on social media, his Twitter page gave him an opportunity to counter fake news that was being peddled about the country’s political and economic landscape.
“Due to the COVID-19 crisis we find ourselves disengaged from the people. So social media gives us room to make contact with people and have blow to blow exchanges on important national issues.
“So the idea is to use this space to share authentic information on issues surrounding our politics and information on the economy. Our absence here has caused national debate to be arrogated by reactionaries and imperialist handled propagandists,” said Dr Mpofu.
He said he was following in the steps of President Mnangagwa who is also active on social media platforms and is constantly engaging the public on various topics.
Dr Mpofu said the prime aim has been to bridge the gap between politicians and the people.
“We need to be where the young and the old are. Our national debates are on such platforms and as the Secretary for Administration of the ruling and a prominent party of liberation, it’s imperative for me to engage all Zimbabweans across the political and ideological divide.
“Therefore, as leaders in the ruling party we must all emulate President Mnangagwa and make use of the democratic social media dialogue spaces. This is the trend across the world. The days of conventional communication are coming to their end,” he said.
He further noted that through social media one gets to engage on various ideas and share varying points of dissent beyond petty prejudices.
Dr Mpofu also took a swipe at falsehoods being peddled on social media that he was bed ridden after contracting the Covid-19 pandemic, which he said was not true.
He recently went into self-quarantine after attending a conference for global political parties in Tanzania.
“The gross stigmatization is as if being infected and affected by COVID 19 is a taboo. I am actually encouraging members of the public to constantly have regular tests as I have been doing since the outbreak of the COVID-19.
“As it stands, my entire family has gone through similar routines of constant COVID 19 testing,” said Dr Mpofu.

Former Zanu PF national youth political commissar Godfrey Tsenengamu has claimed that the July 31 protest achieved its goals despite claims that it flopped.
The firebrand ex Zanu PF member said the demonstration had achieved its targets a day before because the authorities punished as evidenced by the number of measures they implemented ahead of the protests.
“The intention of any peaceful protest is to get the attention of the authorities to the issues you would be raising and the 31st July demo achieved that. In fact we achieved even before the day. The authorities panicked and they had to conduct countless pressers, clear the CBD, shutdown every city and growth point, issue threats, unleash terror gangs, mount national roadblocks, impose curfews, launch manhunts, unleash the police and army in every residential area and many other things. It shows they got our message as all this was a response to our planned protests. So the 31st achieved in regards to what a peaceful protest has to achieve” said Tsenengamu.
Despite the proposed procession not taking off he said there is going to be more pressure till they achieve however, he did not reveal their next plan but said there is always another plan.
“More pressure and more pressure till we achieve. Will cross the bridge when we get there. There is always plan B, C, D and E if plan A fails” he said.
Meanwhile he dismissed as hogwash reports that they had vanished with funds after the proposed July 31 demonstration flopped.
“That is absolute nonsense. It’s hogwash. I know nothing about that because I didn’t receive or seek any donation from anyone. This is creation of the regime and its propaganda machinery meant to soil my name. I am not a mercenary and they know that.
“I do things out of conviction and not for monetary or material benefits. When I was Commissar in ZANU PF I had many benefits and privileges that include a good salary and an off road vehicle but I had to choose my conscience over convenience. These are desperate schemes from panic looters and their enablers. Who in their normal senses would fork out half a million and for what? It makes no sense,” said Tsenengamu.
The protests failed to take off after police and army cordoned all entry points into Harare Central Business District and other hot spots in the country.

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has assured Zimbabweans that given a chance the country will overcome present challenges wrought by both natural disasters such as the Covid-19 pandemic, and also illegal sanctions and theft he called the divisive politics of unpatriotic opposition parties.
In a State of the Nation Address at the State House, President Mnangagwa said despite present challenges the country’s goal towards achieving Vision 2030, under his leadership, remained unchanged.
“The New Dispensation came with the clear goal to improve the plight of the majority of our people, through an elaborate agenda to reform, restructure and rebuild, towards achievement of Vision 2030. Undoubtedly, my Administration has faced many hurdles and attacks since inauguration.
“These included the divisive politics of some opposition elements, the illegal economic sanctions, cyclones, droughts and more recently, the deadly Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
Notwithstanding the several challenges, both natural and those fashioned by people, the President said Zimbabwe remains on course towards becoming a middle income country by 2030.
“The direction we desire remains unchanged. Our goal remains clear and stable. Forward ever,” he said.
Rapper Stunner (real name Desmond Chideme) who was critically ill and hospitalised for weeks has been discharged and wants people to know one thing, that Covid-19 is real.
Although his ailment was not made public, Stunner this weekend took to his Instagram account to share a saucy image and advise people that he is out of danger, but with a crucial message.
He advised people to protect themselves from the deadly Covid-19 pandemic whose cases in the country are on the rise.
“The funny thing about Covid is that people think varikuitirwa hutsinye muma road nemabhawa (people think they are being treated unfairly by being given restrictions on movements and the closure of bars).
“They are even organising house parties to substitute bars . . . the biggest mistake is thinking we won’t get it from people we know or our relatives or rich people. Covid is not selective and cowards live longest,” wrote Stunner.
His message came at a time when rumours were doing the rounds that several people who patronised a party in Bulawayo’s affluent suburb, Burnside last month contracted the coronavirus with some allegedly succumbing to it.
Well aware of the seriousness of the disease, also likely due to the treatment he got at the hospital as all patients are being treated with extra caution in case they have the virus, Stunner said he did not allow visitors while in hospital.
“I didn’t allow visitors at the hospital even though many of you wanted to come through.
You didn’t know what my illness was and you were still by the doorstep and same way, I didn’t know what you’d bring in. Covid is real guys and it’s killing people. I’m 100% fit and still practising safety at home,” added Stunner-Chronicle
A 32-year-old man from Mwenezi in Masvingo Province has been hurled before the courts after he was arrested by ZRP officers for tweeted that the president who is sometimes referred to as the crocodile’s true colours had been shown, The Zimbabwean reports.
George Makonzo was charged with criminal nuisance and incitement as he stood before Mwenezi Magistrate Honest Musiiwa.
It is the state’s case that:
Makonzo used an unknown gadget to post some comments on Twitter on Friday 24 July 2020 saying; “It’s no longer business as usual for E.D, now the whole world knows the true colours of a crocodile we are dealing with.Makonzo also reportedly tweeted that; “Hopewell will be remembered for the great job he is doing while those corrupt ones trying to run but they will have nowhere to run to. That day will come.”
Prosecutors are alleging that Makonzo intended to cause nuisance and disrupt peace and demonstrate against President Mnangagwa’s government. Masiiwa remanded him out of custody on $1 000 Bail and ordered him to report at a local police station once a fortnight till his trial starts on 27 August 2020.
Thokozani Khupe
MDC-T acting secretary-general Douglas Mwonzora has reportedly shut out acting party president Thokozani Khupe and her loyalists from Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House (previously known as Harvest House) as power struggles intensify after the opposition movement failed to hold an extraordinary congress to elect a substantive president on July 31.
Police last week barred Khupe from holding the elective congress ordered by the Supreme Court in March citing the spike in COVID-19 local transmissions and lockdown regulations which prohibit gatherings of more than 50 people.
Mwonzora was set to challenge Khupe at the congress for the presidency.
“Mwonzora’s campaign has resorted to violence … people who are not aligned to his faction are being prevented from entering Harvest House. Khupe’s aides are being beaten up every time at Harvest House,” a source said.
“People like the chief of protocol Kudzanai Mashumba, senior member Fungai Masaiti, finance director Toddy Sithole now work from home after being prevented from entering Harvest House by youths who accused them of supporting Khupe. Some women contracted to clean the presidential wing at harvest house were also beaten up by Mwonzora’s people.”
But Mwonzora dismissed the reports and insisted he would stand for the position of president at the congress.
“The reports that I have turned violent in my campaign are false and malicious. They are being peddled by people who want to denigrate the young women and men who helped to secure Harvest House. We have not victimised anyone. There is no need for us to resort to uncouth means,” he said.
Khalipani Phugeni, the MDC-T acting deputy spokesperson, however, revealed that the party was investigating cases of violence against Khupe’s aides.
“What I know is that some aides of Dr Khupe have been prevented from entering Harvest House and, at times, they have been manhandled,” he said.
“So we have directed our chief of staff to investigate the issues of violence and present a report about that at our next standing committee meeting. That report has not come, but when it does, I will give additional comments.”

President Emmerson Mnangagwa had yet another chance to show leadership in a national address Tuesday morning. But, as he has done countless times, he squandered it in a tone deaf statement that only further dents his standing.
Planned protests last Friday were met with disproportionate force as authorities moved in to head off any widespread demonstrations. Scores of people were arrested, including the opposition MDC Alliance spokesman Fadzayi Mahere and the writer Tsitsi Dangarembga in Harare.
In Bulawayo, Tawanda Muchehiwa, the nephew of journalist Mduduzi Mathuthu, was abducted. He was returned to his home days later, battered and bruised. His images caused national outrage. Online, a Twitter campaign, #ZimbabweanLivesMatter went global, reflecting badly on an administration that oddly still wants to be seen as reformist.
Internally, the old grumblings of factionalism are being heard in ZANU-PF, with reports of secret meetings and witch-hunts, all which hark back to those last days of Robert Mugabe.
In the economy, inflation is rising and, despite a slowdown in the collapse of the Zimbabwe dollar, sentiment remains largely downbeat. As a gauge, the stock market was sluggish on the first day back from a totally pointless month-long suspension.
In all this, Mnangagwa woke up today to speak into this storm.
Here is what you expect, as a citizen, from your leader in such times; a uniting presence that calms your worst fears. You want to think he understands your frustrations. You don’t expect him to have all the answers. But you expect him, at the very least, to show he is in touch with how you are feeling. You want compassion.
Anything else only fuels a nation’s frustrations, and makes people angrier and more despondent.
So, how did he do? Let’s see.
Does he take any responsibility for how the economy has turned out under his watch?
No. His administration, he said, “has been undermined by the divisive politics of the opposition, sanctions, cyclones, droughts and now COVID19”. His reform plan has suffered under “foreign economic aggression”.
Does he think protesters have genuine grievances? No. They are “bad apples” who must be “flushed out”.
Can he moderate the hate speech and promote the unity that he says we need to grow the economy? No. The opposition are “destructive terrorist opposition groupings”.
In his speech, he spoke against corruption. He detailed reforms such as the repeal of the Public Order and Security Act and AIPPA. He spoke of the need for peace and patriotism. All these are good points, which many would believe if they saw change on the ground.
For, what is the point of repealing repressive media laws, when journalists are still targeted? What is the point of dropping a bad security law, when civilians are still beaten in the streets and taken from their homes by night?
There has been a hardening of positions from the government. As we warned in an editorial back in June, a paranoid ZANU PF is a danger to us all. We said ZANU PF would go after opponents and become more erratic on economic policy.
Sure enough, since then, rights abuses have escalated on the political front. On the economic front, we have seen attacks on the stock exchange and on mobile money. All these actions are based on self-serving, paranoid security reports, placed at Mnangagwa’s feet. The outcome has been a series of own goals that have embarrassed even the most patient ZANU PF supporter.
A good leader would have seen through all that, and chosen the right path that convinces the nation to buy into his vision, securing his standing as leader.
But the own goals have continued, repeatedly. The old line that “the President is captured by hardliners” no longer holds. He, as President, has agency and a full mandate to do what is right. If not for his country, then for his own legacy.
He has chosen the path of those that believe Zimbabwe can prosper without the participation of its citizens. This includes even ZANU PF supporters, who now realise that his promises to them have been forgotten, for the sake of pandering to the old clique around him that wouldn’t survive in a progressive, patriotic administration.
Mnangagwa said it himself in a recent speech: “Zimbabweans deserve better. Zimbabwe deserve better”.
On Tuesday, every Zimbabwean watching his tone-deaf speech must have agreed.

POLICE in Mashonaland East province are keen to arrest a Buhera man who allegedly killed his employer during the former’s employment as a domestic worker at a Chivhu village.
Police provincial spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed they were looking for Jacob Ruben Chapanduka (age not given) who hails from Nyashanu area in Buhera.
Chapanduka was employed as a domestic worker by Rosemary Ndava (60) of Kuvarega Village under chief Neshangwe in Chivhu.
According to police, on the fateful day, July 15 this year, Ndava retired to bed at around 2100 hrs with her five-year-old grandson whom she lived with, whilst Chapanduka also went to his own bedroom which is about 20 metres away.
However, the following morning, her grandson woke up at around 0700hrs to find her grandmother was not in the room with him.
The grandson is said to have gone to a neighbour Tambudzai Ebbah’s homestead where he was told to calm down as the grandmother could have gone to the fields.
Two days later, Ebbah reportedly called the deceased’s husband Ezekeil Chakauya who at the time was in Gweru and informed him his wife and their domestic worker were missing.
Ebbah later teamed up with the deceased Ndava’s husband to conduct a search for the missing duo.
They then came across the body of Ndava lying lifelessly in the bedroom of their domestic worker.
“The body had both legs tied with an electric cable, both hands were tied with a black head, was wrapped with a white cloth,” said Inspector Mwanza.
The police spokesperson also confirmed the body had a cut on the head which he said could have been inflicted by the suspect using a sharp object.
The body was later taken to Sadza District Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Said Inspector Mwanza, “We are appealing to members of the public who may have whereabouts of the suspects to report at any nearest police station.
“It is also crucial for people to make use of police screening process when employing people for the work so that they know if they have any criminal past.
“It also assists police in making investigations once the identity and criminal past of a suspect are known.”
Shocking reports suggest that Zimbabwean Football superstar Marvellous Nakamba might be on his way out the Aston Villa door after he spent 1 year at the EPL team, The Boot Room reports.
Fotomac, a Turkish news outlet claims there is interest from Turkey’s Trabzonspor who reportedly want to sign Nakamba on loan this summer should Aston Villa offload him ahead of the next season.
Nakamba who was bought for €12 million from Club Brugge in July last year had indicated that he is happy at Aston Villa and he had no plans of leaving. However recent reports indicated that Trabzonspor might actually offer him a route away from Villa Park on a temporary basis.

Clr Kurauone yesterday appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Ms Patience Madondo who denied him bail, despite frantic efforts by his lawyer Mr Dereck Charamba to be granted such.
He was then remanded in custody pending trial on August 18, 2020. Kurauone allegedly posted a video of a song in which he is calling for immediate removal of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
He also burnt tyres along the Mashava-Zvamahande road disrupting the smooth flow of traffic. Kurauone was arrested by officers from the Law and Order Section while he was reporting at the Police provincial headquarters in fulfilment of his bail conditions for a similar case.

Turkish club Trabzonspor now wants to sign Marvelous Nakamba on loan this summer after initially expressing interest to take him on a permanent deal.
The Zimbabwean joined Aston Villa last year and despite getting a decent share of minutes on the field in his debut season, he was linked with a move away.
Reports emerged in April that the Turkish side had targeted to snap him up on a bargain price if Villa get relegated from the top-flight.
But after the EPL club survived the chop, a permanent move became expensive for Trabzonspor who now wants to sign Nakamba on a temporary basis, according to Turkish outlet, Fotomac.

Farai Dziva|Inter Milan will only decide on the future of coach Antonio Conte after the end of their Europa campaign.
The coach’s future has been the subject of recent speculation after he publicly slammed his employers immediately after the end of the league season on Saturday where the team finished in second place, their best performance for nine years.
Conte said the club had failed to back him and his players in the face of heavy criticism and that his efforts had not been recognised.
The claims are said to have created a rift and a call was made between the coach and the club’s president Steven Zhang via video conference on Monday.
Conte currently earns €12 million net a season and has two years left on his current deal.
Meanwhile, the gaffer has since softened his stance and he told the ANSA news agency that he fully intends to respect his contract.
He said: “I am committed to a three-year project with Inter and, as I always have done in my life, I will work hard and fight with all my strength and everything in my power to make it a winning project.

The theme of World Breastfeeding Week 2020 is “Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet”.
In line with this theme, WHO and UNICEF are calling on governments to protect and promote women’s access to skilled breastfeeding counselling, a critical component of breastfeeding support.
Breastfeeding provides every child with the best possible start in life. It delivers health, nutritional and emotional benefits to both children and mothers. And it forms part of a sustainable food system. But while breastfeeding is a natural process, it is not always easy. Mothers need support – both to get started and to sustain breastfeeding.
Skilled counselling services can ensure that mothers and families receive this support, along with the information, the advice, and the reassurance they need to nourish their babies optimally.
Breastfeeding counselling can help mothers to build confidence while respecting their individual circumstances and choices.
Counselling can empower women to overcome challenges and prevent feeding and care practices that may interfere with optimal breastfeeding, such as the provision of unnecessary liquids, foods, and breastmilk substitutes to infants and young children.
Improving access to skilled counselling for breastfeeding can extend the duration of breastfeeding and promote exclusive breastfeeding, with benefits for babies, families and economies. Indeed, analysis indicates that increasing rates of exclusive breastfeeding could save the lives of 820 000 children every year, generating US $302 billion in additional income.
Skilled breastfeeding counselling can be provided by different actors including health care professionals, lactation counsellors and peer support providers, and in a variety of settings– in health facilities or clinics, through home visits or community programmes, in person or remotely.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is even more important to find innovative solutions to ensure that access to these essential services is not disrupted and that families continue to receive the breastfeeding counselling they need.
This is why UNICEF and WHO, in line with the policy actions advocated by the UNICEF-WHO-led Global Breastfeeding Collective, are calling on governments to:
INVEST to make skilled breastfeeding counselling available to every woman. Ensuring availability of skilled breastfeeding counselling to every woman will require increased financing for breastfeeding programmes and improved monitoring and implementation of policies, programmes and services.
TRAIN health care workers, including midwives and nurses, to deliver skilled breastfeeding counselling to mothers and families.
ENSURE that counselling is made available as part of routine health and nutrition services that are easily accessible.
PARTNER and collaborate with civil society and health professional associations, building strong collaborative systems for provision of appropriate counselling.
PROTECT health care workers from the influence of the baby food industry.
Together, through commitment, concerted action and collaboration, we can ensure that every mother has access to skilled breastfeeding counselling.

By A Correspondent- MDC Alliance’s national spokesperson, advocate Fadzayi Mahere has expressed great shock after opposition leader Linda Masarira of Labour Economists Afrikan Democrats had reprimanded Julius Malema over his remarks on Zimbabwe.
Malema who leads South African opposition party – Economic Freedom Fighters had suggested that the Zimbabwean Embassy in South Africa should be closed over human rights abuses in Zimbabwe.
In response to Malema’s remarks, Masarira said all lives matter. Below is her Twitter thread:
Dear @Julius_S_Malema • Zimbabwe is a sovereign nation and not an extension of South Africa. • Zimbabweans are more than able to champion their own progress. • If you are serious about Zimbabwean lives, start by organizing protests against Xenophobia.
I haven’t heard you speakout about Zimbabweans who are being left to die in South Africa from #COVID19. I expect you to lead a campaign for the issuing of work permits to Millions of Zimbabweans working in South Africa.Political ambition is good but one should not seek political mileage over anothers misfortune. Stop using Zimbabwe as your campaign card. Sort out RSA issues instead of meddling in our affairs.
SA has worse inequalities, violence etc to address, yet you want to play prefect. As Zimbabweans we will engage each other &resolve our issues as one family Indeed #ZimbabweanLivesMatter#SouthAfricansLivesMatter too Stop Xenophobia on Zimbabweans in SA, it’s inhuman &uncalled for We wont allow grandstanding Let us all endeavour to fix our home ground first
Mahere came in defence of Malema saying:
I can’t for the life of me understand why you would attack @Julius_S_Malema for calling upon the State to uphold human rights & respect the dignity of its citizens. Are you familiar with the Zim Constitution, the African Charter on Human & People’s Rights or the SADC Treaty?
The African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights is an international human rights instrument that is intended to promote and protect human rights and basic freedoms on the African continent.
The charter also states that in some instances, other states can intervene when there are human rights violations.

Farai Dziva|Harare South MP Tongai Mnangagwa has tested positive for COVID-19.
Mnangagwa, quoted by Open Parly said:
” COVID-19 is real, is painful and people must exercise precautions in order to stay safe.
It is with great dismay that I have to deliver this news to you my friends and colleagues. I have tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and I am appealing to everyone who has been in contact with me to take precautionary measures and get tested and/or go into isolation whilst practicing all the safety precautions.”
“This is not something easy, it deters you from your loved ones and also affects the people around you that love you.
Its is not a situation I would want anyone to be in…. Its a painful road, having to get up each day and hope to make it to the next.
“We make no apologies for fixing our systems across the socio, economic and political spectrum.”

By Jane Mlambo| Grammy nominated Jamaican band, Morgan Heritage has joined widening calls for solidarity with Zimbabwean people through the trending hashtag #ZimbabweanLivesMatter by appealing for help to ‘brothers and sisters in Zimbabwe’.
Responding to a tweet in which a Zimbabwean appealed to the band to voice out against human rights abuses by the government of Zimbabwe, the group said they like many other global influencers who have already tweeted using the trending hashtag, stand with Zimbabwe.
“Jah come help our falling race! Our brothers and sisters in Zimbabwe needs your help. We stand with you!#ZimbabweanLivesMatter,” said Morgan Heritage.
Several prominent people across the globe have voiced out against excesses of the government of Zimbabwe including former Liberian President Madam Sirleaf Johnson, Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera, South African opposition leaders Julias Malema and Mmusi Maimane among others.
Ten more Covid-19 deaths were reported yesterday, the second highest daily toll after 12 passed on last Thursday, taking the death toll to 80 while 154 new cases were confirmed, all local infections, taking the cumulative total to 4 075 and the number of local infections to 2 982.
Eight of yesterday’s deaths were in Harare health institutions, four men and four women, according to the daily Covid-19 report from the Ministry of Health and Child Care, with two more men dying in Manicaland and Matabeleland South.
Of the 154 local infections, 72 were in Harare, taking the city total to 1 299, with 39 deaths, almost half the total. Bulawayo saw 50 new cases, taking its total to 996 but with the death toll sitting still at 20, while Midlands, the third epicentre, saw eight new cases with its total rising to 245 with five deaths. Manicaland was worse, with 12 new cases, taking its total to 113, and it has now recorded six deaths.
Mashonaland East, which includes the satellite town of Harare abutting eastern and north-eastern borders now has 161 local infections, after four more yesterday. South Africa has recorded another 213 deaths in one day to take its total to 8 366 from 511 485 cases.
As a result of the surge in Covid-19 local infections, Treasury has allocated another $18,5 million for Covid-19 Rapid Response Teams as Government warns both public and private medical hospitals and clinics against refusing to admit patients who do not have Covid-19 test results.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa yesterday said Government was concerned with the increase in Covid-19 confirmed cases over the past week, with the Sunday to Sunday figures almost doubling and local cases now forming almost all infections in the daily reports.
She said an analysis of Covid-19 hotspots continued to be made across the country to enable the channelling of required resources to these areas, especially fresh vegetable markets in Harare and Bulawayo.
“It was noted that persons from different environs visit these markets and testing would give an indication of infection rates.
“The Harare Rapid Response Teams conducted tests at Mbare Musika yesterday and today and of those tested, seven people (8,75 percent) were positive. It was also noted that there are high risks posed by these markets, which include crowding of clients, poor sanitation conditions for vendors and no easy donning of masks by the general public and vendors,” she said.
This errant behaviour in the form of continued disregard of Covid-19 containment measures, which includes physical distancing, wearing of face masks and sanitisation is also being witnessed in public spaces such as supermarkets, malls and banking halls.
“In light of the above, four additional Rapid Response Teams are now being established; two for Chitungwiza, one for Ruwa, another for Epworth.”
The four towns are all satellite towns of Harare sharing a border with the city, although Ruwa falls in Mashonaland East Province.
“Treasury has allocated Harare $10 million, Bulawayo $6 million and Chitungwiza $2,5 million for the Covid-19 teams especially for Rapid Response Teams.
“The Covid-19 war is now in our communities and we have to increase our vigilance and the need to adhere to protective and preventative measures cannot be over emphasised. The more we get into crowds, the more we expose ourselves to Covid-19,” she said.
Minister Mutsvangwa said the taskforce was informed that some private and public health institutions were refusing to admit patients who had no Covid-19 test results.
“This is contrary to provisions of the Public Health Act and Government warns those medical facilities who have been contravening this Act. All hospitals both public and private should admit all patients without the pre-requirement of a Covid-19 test and proceed to do a PCR test on admission. The latter will determine whether the patient will be further managed in the green or red zone,” she said.
The taskforce received a report that in light of the rising Covid-19 figures, which indicate increased risk in communities, the number of PCR tests done per week has doubled with average tests per day standing at 1 130 as compared to 559 from the week ending July 24, 2020.
“We will continue to increase our testing levels to ensure those who are at risk and have been exposed receive the medical attention they need. As such, the Ministry of Health and Child Care will be flighting a 72-hour tender on August 4, 2020, for the procurement of four PCR machines, 220 000 PCR test kits, 25 000 antigen RDTs and other laboratory consumables. The US$5,6 million already allocated by Government will be used for this procurement.
“To address testing backlog and delays in the issuance of test results, the taskforce was informed that laboratory staff at Mpilo in Bulawayo and St Luke’s in Lupane have been trained to use the Abbott Platform, which will assist in clearing the backlog at the National TB Reference Laboratory in Bulawayo. Meanwhile, an information technology solution on the issuance of results is being developed by the Ministry of Health and Child Care in collaboration with the Harare Institute of Technology to reduce the delays in the issuance of results,” she said.

:By Job “Wiwa” Sikhala| Our political consciousness as a people can now be taken for granted by those blinded with oppressive power but in the mind of every pained citizen they know what should be done and what is happening.
All those whom you hear waffling about the invincibility of this tyrannical and oppressive system are the beneficiaries of the crumbs from the system. They enjoy our national resources on the tears and sorrows of our people.
They are people whom everyone must totally ignore and focus on the future of the generation of today and our kids. 90% of the citizens will remain suffer continua because criminals and thieves presiding over our public affairs are looting our resources.
There is no difference between the struggle of the generation of today and that of the nationalists movement of the 1960s. Grievences of 1960 persist to the present day.
During the colonial era the minority enjoyed on the behest of the majority. So is today. A tiny coterie of criminals are eating whilst all of us suffer. Not only that, they apply colonial methods to shut our mouths shut.
Colonialists used the Special Branch to shut anyone who spoke about the injustices of the time. Gross human rights were committed against our people as happening today.
We have been silent on the face of unprecedented gross human rights abuses since 1980. From Gukurahundi thousands were murdered, abducted, tortured and abused. This intolerable political culture continued to the present day.
All opponents of the state have been living horrible lives since 1980 and the mistake we did as citizens was to politicize issues of national concern. There are issues that do not need partisanship. Issues of citizens concerns.
Today Zimbabweans have gone on the overdrive informing the world that #Zimbabweans lifes matter. This is driven from the observations of what happened since time immemorial in our society. On the aftermath of 31st July, thousands of our citizens are being abused throughout the country.
This is an uncivilized operation to silence citizens so that those who have been looting continue looting unabated. Gross human rights abuses can not continue on our faces. Abductions need to stop and it is only us as citizens who can stop it.
Violence against citizens must stop. Our people are being brutalized daily in their homes for no apparent reason, an act which started since 1980. There are times when we say enough is enough. There is nothing without an end.
Last night the Mayor of Chitungwiza was violently attacked by persons in military uniform. He was parking his car at the public car park next to his house. The savage attack on the Mayor Lovemore Maiko shows that no one is safe.
Brutalisation has been taking place everywhere. Besides our campaign against looting and corruption, lets speak as citizens against TORTURE, ABDUCTIONS AND GROSS HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES.
As stated we resolved that, the week of 10th August to the 15th is a week of speaking out against the vices in our state. Until when should we allow it to continue as a people.
Speak Zimbabwe Speak
NO to Corruption
NO to Looting
NO to Abductions
NO to Torture
NO to Gross Human Rights Abuses.
By Patrick Guramatunhu| There is no doubt that President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his cronies will view the nonevent July 31st Street Protests as a political victory. But if the truth be told, this is not even a Pyrrhic victory since the regime mobilised and imposed the curfew, at great expense it must be said, but failed to address even one iota of the underlying causes of the protests.
The people are angry at the corrupt and incompetent regime that has all but destroyed the country’s economy forcing unemployment to soar to the dizzying heights of 90%. 34% of the people, according to a 2019 World Bank report, now live in extreme poverty, i.e. they cannot afford one decent meal a day let alone other necessities such as education for their children and health care. Poverty is set to soar into even greater heights fuelled by the corona virus pandemic.
Zimbabwe, like many other nations, has imposed lockdown measures in an effort to contain the corona virus, measures that have disrupted the little economic activities still taking place.
The Zimbabwe economy was already in trouble before the corona virus outbreak and so the disruption will only sink the economy into deeper trouble.
To make matters worse, many Zimbabweans who had left the country to escape the economic meltdown have been returning in droves to swell up the numbers of the unemployed and destitute.
Zimbabweans have yet to wake-up to the reality of how this Zanu PF government’s blundering incompetence have helped in the spread of corona virus and therefore, in the end, costing hundreds of thousands of human lives. Zororo Makamba was the first reported corona virus case and death in the country.
It turns out the young man was allowed to mix with public even though he had corona virus symptoms when he arrived at the airport. A Zanu PF leader overruled the immigration officials who wanted him placed in quarantine!
Ever since the Zororo Makamba case in March, the regime has failed to test, trace and track corona virus cases aggressively. It beggars belief why even big referral hospitals like Mpilo and Parerinyatwa Hospitals have not been given the resources to test all those with corona virus like symptoms.
Indeed, even when hospitals have made their own arrangements for the tests, it is clear the government has not always included the confirmed covid-19 cases and deaths in the official reports.
As of today 3rd August 2020, Zimbabwe has 3 921 confirmed cases and 70 deaths. Compare this to SA’s 511 488 and 8 366 confirmed cases and deaths respectively. SA has not been testing as aggressively as other countries like South Korea have done, still SA has done a lot better than Zimbabwe!
The real big price to be paid for failing to test aggressively is that many people will get the virus as the infected and those around them will not take even the most common sense precaution because they are blissfully unaware of the virus in the midst.
Zimbabwe’s covid-19 death toll could well be 2 000 (1/4 that of SA give our population is the same ratio), 40 times greater than the official death toll.
And by the time the corona virus finally blows over, there is a vaccine or cure, the real death toll in Zimbabwe will be hundreds of thousands, thousands of times greater than the official death toll.
Zanu PF is under reporting the covid-19 confirmed cases and deaths to hide the regime’s blundering incompetence in the handling of the pandemic.
And so hundreds of thousands of Zimbabweans will die of covid-19 because the government entrusted with the power, authority and duty to test, track and inform the people of the virus deliberately kept them in the dark for selfish political reasons! If that truth was to sink in, every thinking Zimbabwean out there would be furious and demand the regime be held to account!
Zimbabwe has a bloated and well-resourced Army, Police and CIO who were all deployed to enforce the dawn to dust curfew to stop the street protest. And yet even the country’s referral hospitals have no staff, equipment and even something as basic as clean running water. Such is the damning testimonial of the Zanu PF madness!
As long as nothing is done to end the country’s worsening economic situation, Zanu PF has no clue how to revive the country’s comatose economy, the people will be on the street to demand an end to their economic suffering.
So by imposing a no expense spared security curfew to stop the 31st July 2020 Street Protests, Zanu PF kicked the can down the road. This economic situation in which so many are condemned to poverty and hopelessness is unsustainable; it is just a matter of when, not if, the next street protests will happen.
When that happen, hell will break loose; the people’s decades of bottled up anger will be a tsunami to overwhelm the regime and its security forces.
The tragedy here is that Zanu PF has stifled debate and all democratic means to bring about peace change leaving the nation with no other choice but to resort to violent street protests or worse.
It should be said here and now that the regime, its apologists and the corrupt opposition, for their role in failing to end the Zanu PF dictatorship even when they had the opportunity to do so, will be held to account for mischief, damage death and destruction that the violent street protests will bring!

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has burst out against what he called “rogue Zimbabweans acting in league with foreign detractors” who are sabotaging him in running the country.
In a surprise early morning address to the nation from State House Tuesday morning Mnangagwa spoke angrily inferring to the viral #zimbabewanlivesmatter which is shaking the world’s social media after government’s brutal crackdown on organisers of foiled anti-government protests.
Mnangagwa declared “enough is enough”, insisting his administration has not been given a chance since inception to pursue its programmes uninterrupted.
Mnangagwa said “those who promote hate and disharmony will never win”, “the bad apples that have attempted to divide our people…will never win”.
“We make no apologies for fixing our systems across, political, social and economic spectrum…” said the Zimbabwean leader.
Mnangagwa said attacks against his administration were being launched at a time government was “entrenching democracy and rule of law”.
Mnangagwa was adamant Zimbabwe’s security forces, “will carry out with strictness and resolve” against what he described as terrorist opposition groupings.
Mnangagwa said “dark forces both inside and outside our borders have tampered with our growth for too long” adding, “Enough is enough…will defend it from all form of attack.”
President Emmerson Mnangagwa Tuesday said he is under a coordinated attack from people and countries who do not want to see his administration achieving the goals it set to develop the country.
Addressing a surprise press conference at State House, Mnangagwa said the opposition parties, which he called terrorist groups, have been working in cahoots with some of his members and other countries to sabotage his adminstration.
He said there were ‘dark forces” both in and outside Zimbabwe which are working to divide the country but warned that he will deal with any attempts to destabilise the country.
This comes after Zimbabwe has attracted global sympathy following gross human rights in the wake of a thwarted demonstration which was scheduled for last week.
“My administration has faced many hurdles and attacks since its inauguration and these include the divisive politics of some opposition elements, the illegal economic sanctions, cyclones, drought and most recently, the deadly COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
He said other elements include local currency manipulation and detractors who fear that his government will succeed.
“All this was meant to undermine our projected growth and stability as a result, we have had to constantly recalibrate our compass to ensure that we remain on course and that the standard of life for the majority of our society gets better,” Mnangagwa said.
He said he will defeat the attacks to destabilise the society which he blamed on ” a few rogue Zimbabweans acting in league with foreign detractors.
He further said the reforms, opening up and liberalization and modernization his government began shall continue with an accelerated pace. while warning those who promote hate and disharmony whom he said will never win.
“The bad apples that have attempted to divide our people and to weaken our systems shall be flashed out. Good shall triumph over evil.
“We make no apologies for fixing our systems across the socio-economic and political spectrum,” Mnangagwa said.
Zimbabwe has been receiving a lot of goodwill from across the world with high profile people standing with the country in the wake of gross human rights abuses by the government on the opposition and civil society members.
More than a dozen people were arrested and tortured at the hands of state agents in connection with last week’s demonstration which was suppressed by the security forces.
Those arrested include renowned novelist Tsitsi Dangarembgwa, MDC A Spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere, journalist Mduduzi Mathuthu, whose nephew was abducted found four days later with serious injuries.
Opposition leader Jacob Ngarivhume and journalist Hopewell Chin’ono were also arrested prior to the demonstration, a move which was received by widespread condemnation.
The latest crackdown on opposition and critics of the government have raised ire with celebrities and sports personalities across the world standing with the country on social media using the #ZimbabweanLivesMatter hashtag, which as of yesterday was trending in most parts of the world.
However, Mnangagwa said his government Is unrelenting in seeing that the country remains peaceful through his legislative frameworks.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has early Tuesday morning issued an address on way forward regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy, peace and stability in the country.

The Global Compensation Deed agreement between the Government and white former farmers whose land was expropriated under land reform makes it clear that there will be no compensation for the land itself, but, as laid down in the Zimbabwean Constitution and law, there will be compensation for improvements, biological assets and land clearing costs.
The main sticking point in the negotiations that led to the agreement was not the land compensation issue, the farmers having accepted that this was not on the table, but the actual value of the improvements, with the Government looking initially at a figure of US$1,2 billion and the farmers at US$5,4 billion.
Rather than argue indefinitely, regional independent assessors were brought in to review the valuation.
That in turn led to a Government offer of US$3,5 billion after further talks, which the farmers, after a referendum, accepted.
With the figure now set the financing can start with a joint approach by both Government and farmers to international lenders.
The joint approach, plus the successful talks that led to the agreement, are seen as critical in mobilising the funding with everyone seeing this will signify the end of all legal and financial disputes and close the chapter.
The farmers are not blocked from seeking land compensation, but as part of the agreement have accepted that this would be a totally separate deal, laying no obligations on the Zimbabwean Government and would require independent foreign financing, especially from the former colonial power.
The process to reach an agreement on improvements compensation started in 2017 when the President, in his inauguration speech, pledged to compensate the former farmers in line with the Zimbabwean Constitution and this new approach revived stalled talks between Government and the former farmers.
With both parties now desiring a deal, progress was possible and talks quickly centred on just how much compensation should be paid and how this could subsequently be financed.
The Inter-Ministerial Compensation Committee, that was headed by Vice President Chiwenga, had by February this year come to the Government’s conclusion and so was able to meet the Former Farm Owners’ Compensation Steering Committee (CSC) to “finalise the modalities for agreeing on a global compensation figure and subsequent payment”.
A meeting between the negotiating parties with the World Bank, saw the international lender pledging to offer technical support in developing a compensation roadmap and financial structuring for borrowing for compensation after the roadmap has been developed.
On May 22 the Minister of Finance and Economic Development told the joint negotiating committee that the roadmap to be developed with the World Bank technical assistance should be developed only after a global compensation figure has been agreed, as this was the critical point.
The white former farmers then voted in a referendum and accepted the US$3,5 billion last offer from Government.
The GCD then was thrashed out and was signed last week by Government, represented by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, the Commercial Farmers Union (CFU), the Southern African Commercial Farmers Alliance (SAFCA) and the Valuation Consortium (Private) Limited (Valcon).
SAFCA represented the interests of commercial farmers in Matabeleland while Valcom represented the interests of all farmers who were not members of any union.
According to the agreement, the money will be paid in instalments, with half payable 12 months after signature of the agreement.
The other half will be paid in four annual instalments, each of one eighth of the amount but the whole lot can be paid within 12 months if the money is mobilised by then.
The farmers agreed to join the Government in the joint approach to potential funders; it could not be a solo Government operation.
“As soon as practicable after signature of the agreement, the parties will set up a joint resource mobilisation committee to work together with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development to raise funds for payment of the global compensation figure,” read the agreement in part.
The governing laws of the agreement are Zimbabwean laws and any dispute that may arise will be resolved in terms of the Arbitration Act of Zimbabwe.
Part of the agreement entailed that the Joint Resources Mobilisation Committee, that comprised representatives from Government as well as the farmers’ representatives, would engage international lenders.
“Government and the white former farmers would establish a Joint Mobilisation Committee to work with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development for Government to raise funds for compensation of improvements by issuing long dated paper with a tenure of 30 years. If the Joint Resources Mobilisation Committee, however, failed to raise sufficient funds in time, the payment periods for the down payment and the balance of the global compensation figure will be extended by written mutual consent of the parties.
In the event that the white former farmers wanted compensation for land, they should come up with a different and separate draft agreement on land compensation, which would state the type of compensation they needed from Government in order to get international assistance.
“However, the agreement should also clearly absolve Government of any obligation for compensation of land as provided for in the Constitution. Part of the agreement also entails that the white farmers get compensation from outside Zimbabwe including the former colonial power Britain.
“The global compensation figure as agreed by negotiators in the JTCNC is US$3,5 billion. It was estimated according to the principles set out in the Land Acquisition Act and represents a negotiated settlement for compensation of the value of improvements, biological assets and land clearing costs for land, which was compulsorily acquired for resettlement,” read the agreement in part.
Air Commodore Jasper Chimedza
Air Commodore Jasper Chimedza, the former Director-General Health Services for the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, has been appointed Secretary for Health and Child Care by President Mnangagwa with immediate effect.
Chief Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda announced the appointment in a statement issued yesterday.
MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzai Mahere has declared the appointment illegal.
A 15-YEAR-OLD boy from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself using an electric cable tied to roof trusses.
The victim, whose name was not revealed, was doing Form 2 at a local school.
It is not clear why he allegedly committed suicide, but sources said he was discovered by a relative in his bedroom.
The female relative called for neighbours who came and cut the electric cable in the hope of rendering first aid but he was already dead.
Police were called to attend the scene and have since launched an investigation into the matter.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said the relative informed the police how he found the teenager hanging from the roof trusses.
“Our informant is the one who discovered that the boy was hanging from his bedroom’s roof trusses.
“She had gone into his room to call him to join her in fetching water, since the suburb had no water.
“After discovering him, she rushed to call neighbours with one of them cutting the electric cable but unfortunately he was already dead,” said Insp Ncube.
He said cops attended the scene and discovered that his body had been laid down facing upward.
Insp Ncube said his body had no visible injury marks.
He appealed to the public to seek counselling services when faced with difficulties as opposed to ending their lives
“This is a young life that has been needlessly lost. I believe if he was counselled, this incident could have been avoided.
“The public should not suffer in silence. They can seek counselling services from the elderly, close friends, religious leaders and even us as police,” he said.
A comment could not be obtained from his relatives as news crew did not visit the family’s home.

File picture of children at New Start Children's Home.
Legislators want the Child Protection Act amended to raise from 18 to 22 years the age at which children living in care facilities should be discharged, legislators have said.
Members of Parliament have noted that the current age of 18 years upon which children living in homes should be discharged created uncertainty as most of them would still be of school-going age.
This is contained in a recent report by Parliament’s portfolio committee on Public Service Labour and Social Welfare when it presented a report on a petition from National Residential Care Leavers Network Thrust. The organisation felt that there was a possible violation of rights of young adults on discharge from residential child care facilities.
“The Ministry of Public Service Labour and Social Welfare should expeditiously submit a Bill amending the Child Protection Act to Parliament by 31st August 2020. The Bill should clearly define the age and conditions under, which a child in residential care becomes eligible for discharge, amongst other key issues.
“The committee recommends an upwards review of the age of discharge from 18 to 22 years. In addition, the Bill should provide for establishment of half-way homes to accommodate these young adults post residential care until they can independently care for themselves,” reads the report.
The much-touted 31st July demo has failed to take off not because the people do not have a genuine cause but because of fear and lack of courageous leaders who are prepared to sacrifice their luxurious lives.
The social media activists are good for nothing but inciting other people to cannon fodder when they are hiding in safe places.
Those who are play acting the demo by holding one or two placards are just play-acting. The Zanu PF govt is entrenched and battle-hardened.
You cannot beat them in the game of violence. This is the generation of Perence Shiri who were ready to sacrifice their lives to free us from the yoke of colonial bondage. They paid the ultimate price.
Now our social media generation are far from it. Why not change tactics and strategy and try National Dialogue than pretend to be revolutionaries?
Apart from Job Sikhaka and Tendai Biti, I see a lot of cowards in the rank and file of those who chose the demonstration route.
But even then, under the COVID pandemic demos were not ideal because of public health reasons. It was ill-timed.
Meanwhile, the suffering continues while we in the opposition are experimenting with tired methods of removing the govt.
Let us try dialogue and national convergence in order to find each other. After all the politicians do not feel the pinch.
They are eating and looting across the political divide. Driving luxurious vehicles and barricaded in their suburbs wearing expensive suits.
We must not use the people to satisfy our egos. Demonstrations are being used to tick the box and play to the international gallery.
The regime remains clueless on how to run the economy but the opposition does not make the situation better by not engaging the rulers like what Tsvangirai did.
Dialogue must be tried and given a chance otherwise we are all contributing to the burning of the house. The tweeter activists are hiding and hoping that innocent poor can come out to confront the regime.

Nelson Chamisa
MDC Alliance President Nelson Chamisa has suffered a second major family bereavement within a few weeks.
Chamisa was in Gweru on Monday for the burial of his uncle. The death comes on shortly after Chamisa lost his mother.
Chamisa was in Gweru at the weekend to attend the burial of former Midlands Provincial Agritex officer Mr Peter Chamisa, who is his father’s brother.
Chamisa who is widely followed in the country opted to silently go to the burial which could easily have ended up being over subscribed. A few MDC Alliance followers however turned up at the funeral.
“There were only a few who attended the burial and the only notable figure was ward 11 councillor, Mr Albert Chirawu, who is a provincial member,”said a source.
Gweru mayor Mr Josaih Makombe, who is also the Midlands provincial party chairperson, however, dismissed reports they snubbed their leader including the burial of his relative.

Nephew to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Tongai Mnangagwa, has announce testing positive for Covid-19.
Mnangagwa, who is also the ZANU PF Harare South Member of Parliament made the announcement in a constituency WhatsApp group Monday.
“It is with great dismay that I have to deliver this news to you my friends and colleagues,” he said.
“I have tested positive for coronavirus disease Covid-19 and I am appealing to everyone who has been in contact with me to take precautionary measures and get tested and/or go into isolation whilst practising all the safety precautions.
“This is not something easy, it deters you from your loved ones and also affects the people around you that love you. It’s is not a situation I would want anyone to be in.
“It’s a painful road, having to get up each day and hope to make it to the next.”
Mnangagwa added, “I sometimes experience pain that is so excruciating that I feel like letting go.
“This disease has taken away our loved ones and continues to do so and this is sad.
“It would not be fair for me not to open up because I know I work with a lot of people and I do not want to see them lose their lives. I also owe it to the electorate who voted for me to get into Parliament to represent them.
“I am appealing to you to take this seriously as a nation, we are under attack from this deadly pandemic. Let us all stay vigilant and stay safe, this pandemic is taking lives. Kindly continue praying with and for me in this period.
“Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts and taking appropriate precautions. Follow advice provided by your local health authority.”

Ten people died of coronavirus in Zimbabwe on Monday6 raising the death toll to 80.
The country recorded 154 new cases bringing the total to 4 075.
Forty-one people, 27 of them from Manicaland, recovered from the virus bringing the total to 1 057 but there are still 2 938 active cases.
Zimbabwe had only seven deaths and 591 cases up to the end of June.
It had 2 578 cases in July alone and 60 deaths.
It has recorded 13 deaths and 906 cases in the first three days of this month.
Some opposition leaders, top musicians and other South Africans have urged the Zimbabwean government to stop arresting civic society activists and opponents suspected to have organized an anti-corruption protest last Friday.
In different tweets on Monday, former leader of the opposition Democratic Alliance Mmusi Maimane, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) kingpin Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, Thuli Madosela and musicians AKA and Casper Nyovest, suggested that the South African government and other nations should intervene to stop the arrest and human rights violations.
In his tweet, EFF leader Julius Sello Matema said, “We call for the removal of the Zimbabwean Embassy in SA until they restore the human rights in that country. Failure to do so, we will prevent any official from the Zimbabwean government from participating in any gathering in SA until they respect ordinary Zimbabweans.”
His views were echoed by Professor Jonathan Moyo, former Zimbabwean Cabinet minister and member of a Zanu PF group that opposed President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rise to the southern African nation’s top political post.
In a tweet, Professor Moyo said, “This is African leadership. True solidarity with the people. Asante sana. Tatenda. Siyabonga. Kea leboha!”
But a person who responded to Malema’s tweet, identified as Tendai Chirau, shot back, saying the protest organizers had a regime-change agenda.
“Upon realising that their machinations are not finding traction in Zim’s political space, members of the fallen G40 cabal have now elected to use @Julius_S_Malema
as their proxy. This will not work! Zim is a sovereign state! We will defeat the handled and the handlers!“
At the same time, former DA leader Mmusi Maimane, backed Malema and several other people, who wanted the international community to intervene in Zimbabwe. He seemed to be courting the attention of firebrand talkshow host, Trever Noah.
“Eita @Trevornoah can we find a way to bring global attention to the human rights abuses in Africa. The attacks on black lives in our neighborhood which need global solidarity. A burning topic right now is the arrests of journalists and activists in Zimbabwe #ZimbabweanLivesMatter”
Responding to another person in the same tweeter thread, Maimani said, “The options range from mediations, warnings, sanctions and even military intervention. However right now not enough action is being taken regionally.”
The MDC Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa was also following the tweet. Dr. Nkululeko Sibanda, spokesperson of the MDC Alliance leader, said he was impressed by the South African politician’s views on the current situation in Zimbabwe.
“Thank you so much for hearing our suffering under the violent power of a heart despot. Yesterday, l had 4 AK 47s pointed at me and my colleague by abused soldiers that just wanted money or they would shoot. This is Zimbabwe, am glad the driver did not panic, could be dead.”
But a person, who identified himself as Jay Mbongeni was not impressed by Maimani’s tweet. “Don’t think you can write foreign policy on Twitter. You are not even an opposition leader. I am a Zimbabwean and I trust the government to maintain order.”
Kea Mogetswe, who was also following these twitter threads, supported South African politicians and other people that are calling for an end to human rights abuses in Zimbabwe where some civic society leaders and journalists have been arrested for planning anti-corruption protests and uncovering corruption in government corridors.
“I’m South African and right now Zimbabwe’s pain is my pain. Such evil can not be ignored. #prayforZimbabwe #ZimbabweanLivesMatter.”
Sibusiso Khumalo, another person who was following the tweets, was not impressed at all about what Malema and others were saying.
Khumalo said, “ZANU PF ingotonga (will rule) they will buck world all round ZANU PF chikara (champion). We voted ZANU PF 2023 we will vote ZANU PF. It’s ED Pfeeee until 2028. The is no social media pressure that will remove His Excellence our votes are more powerful.”
Jones Musara was also not impressed. “Thanks for letting the cat out of the bag. This whole plot is about military invasion of Zimbabwe to destroy Zimbabwe lives. #ZimbabweanLivesMatter.”
In what appears to be a direct response to the South Africans’ calls for an end to human rights abuses in Zimbabwe, Nick Mangwana, permanent information secretary, said on Twitter, “Sanctions imposed against Zimbabwe have killed many. They have unintended consequences. We need every voice to be heard because, #ZimbabweanLivesMatter.”
Mangwana declined to comment on the issue.
President Mnangagwa said recently that people, who were planning the Friday protest, were “terrorists” with a regime-change agenda.
Several Zanu PF activists claimed that Generation 40 (G40) was spearheading the protest together with MDC Alliance, civic society organizations and several opposition parties.
Jacob Ngarivhume’s party, Transform Zimbabwe, proposed the protest, which were supported by some government opponents nationwide.
Ngarivhume and journalist Hopewell Chin’ono are in remand prison facing charges of inciting people to revolt against the government.
Section 59 of the Zimbabwe Constitution stipulates that “every person has the right to demonstrate and to present petitions, but these rights must be exercised peacefully.”
Three ministers in the Gambian government have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the government.
The State House of the Gambia tweeted on Sunday that Finance Minister Mambureh Njie, Petroleum and Energy Minister Fafa Sanyang, and Agriculture Minister Amie Fabureh all tested positive for the virus.
The Gambian president, President Adama Barrow, announced last week he planned to self-isolate after Vice-President Asatru Touray tested positive for the virus.
The Sunday tweet also reminded the public of “the compulsory wearing of face masks, temporary closure of non-essential public places and the prohibition of public and social gatherings.”

The country’s air and land borders have been closed since March.
Gambia, a country with a population of about two million people, has recorded 498 cases of COVID-19 and nine deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.
Protesters in Mali are planning to go to the streets again this week as opponents continue to demand the resignation of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita. Tensions are growing after the opposition in Mali rejected a plan by West African leaders to end the country’s political crisis.
Streets were mostly quiet early Monday in Bamako, the capital, aside from a call from opposition activists for people to resume acts of civil disobedience and block the main roads to paralyze the country.
Youth leaders within the so-called June 5 opposition Movement, known as M5-RFP, have asked their supporters to demonstrate peacefully to again demand President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita’s resignation. Adama Ben Diarra is one of leaders of the June 5 movement.
He explains that the only option that should prevail in Mali is President Keita’s departure. He said that Africa’s destiny is at stake in Mali and when the Malian people act accordingly, it will teach a lesson to all African leaders, with repercussions all across the continent.
Organizers say the protests have not fully resumed because a strategic meeting with senior leaders of the June 5 Movement is not scheduled until Tuesday – indicating to observers a diversity of opinions – or disagreements – within the movement.
Those criticizing the movement point to what they see as a lack of unified leadership despite a common goal. The movement gathers civil society, political parties, and other groups behind one motto: IBK’s resignation.
Choguel Maiga is a former minister. He is now the chair the June 5 strategic committee.
Maiga told VOA that religious leaders, civil society, youth, political parties and unions have one thing in common: they are afraid of the future. He says they are rallying together and the mobilization will grow bigger.
Is being fed up with the president enough to offer a political alternative for Mali’s future? Many analysts worry that legitimate demands for reforms, good governance and transparency would not be addressed even with a regime change.
Young Malians are eager for economic opportunities and peace in a country that has been battling jihadist insurrection for more than nine years. These dreams echo similar aspirations seen in other African nations recently.
Adama Ben Diarra of the June 5 Movement said youth organizations in Mali are close to their counterparts in Senegal (Y en a marre), in Burkina Faso (Balai citoyen) or DRC (Filimbi and Lucha). They share the same views on poor governance but, to him, there is no governance at all in Mali. He said that is why he wants to demonstrate until what he calls the final victory.
In another development which shows the dire security situation in the country, Mali’s army suffered new losses in twin attacks Sunday that left at least five soldiers dead. The bloodshed came almost six weeks after jihadists ambushed a military convoy, also in central Mali, killing 24 soldiers.

This government, which is compensating land thieves for land which was acquired through a revolutionary process, has declared the people of Zimbabwe as enemies, through the deployment of the military to suppress genuine protest.

It was also noted that there are high risks posed by these markets, which include crowding of clients, poor sanitation conditions for vendors and no easy donning of masks by the general public and vendors,” she said-The Herald
Farai Dziva|Members of the dreaded Ferret Squad raided MDC Alliance Councillor Gilbert Mutubuki’s house in Chiredzi and harassed his parents demanding to know his whereabouts.
“Suspected members of the Ferret Team visited my place last night and harrassed my family demanding to know my whereabouts.
They are looking for me and it is not safe here. They are all over the place looking for me.
My parents are in panic mode because they were intimidated by the state agents. They are desperate but that will not the wave of change,” said Councillor Mutubuki.
The MDC Alliance Assembly of Women notes with great concern the recent hunting down, arbitrary arrests, abductions and torture of its leaders across the country ahead of the July 31 demonstrations.
We noticed a massive wave of human rights abuses on our leaders and other female activists by security agents of a failed and clueless state. We would like to categorically state that these, and no other amount of abuses will erase the fact that our government officials including Emmerson Mnangagwa have destroyed our country through corruption.
They are busy looting Covid-19 funds and abusing state funds through shoddy deals that only benefit themselves and their families while the rest of the people are wallowing in poverty.
The health delivery system is malfunctioning – with doctors and nurses on strike.
The bond notes and RTGS dollar are now valueless. Prices of basic commodities are beyond the reach of many and it is women who bear the brunt and it is against this background that the Assembly of Women denounces such kinds of inhuman acts and arresting them or torturing them will neither silence us nor solve the problems.
Before, on and after the 31st of July, we saw the arrest and torture of Bulawayo Provincial Chairlady, Mrs Tendai L Masotsha, our National Spokesperson Ms Fadzai Mahere, Our National Chairlady Hon Muchirairwa Mugidho, Hon Linnet Mazingaidzo, some civil society leaders Tsitsi Dangarembwa, Namatai Kwekweza and other leaders within our structures.
Whilst others have been released and charged with fake and dubious charges, we demand the release of our Chair Hon Mugidho who is locked up at Chiredzi Police Station. We denounce these abuses in toto and reiterate that women’s rights are human rights and the government must respect that and protect the women instead of harassing them. Women constitute 52% of the population and their voices must be heard.
We say No to gender based violence. We say no to police brutality.
We say no to arbitrary arrests. We will not keep quiet as long as we are not able to fend for our children, as long as we are not able to buy sanitary pads.
As the Assembly of Women, we would like to put it on record that we will speak out for the restoration of our dignity.

I note with concern a statement from a supposed ghost writer purporting with an unusual confidence that Bishop Ancelimo Magaya met with some individuals to plot bombings, acts of arson and other criminal actions to bolster the 31st of July protests.
Normally I would not want to sanitize such statements by responding to them.

The abject poverty ravaging our nation while evil deeds including unbriddled corruption persist in High offices cannot continue without Churche’s rebuke.
To the originator of the mischevious article Exodus 23:1 -Do not spread false reports.
So no amount of propaganda and name tarnishing tactics will deter me.

Close to a decade ago, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, while he was still the Minister of Defence, said before he turned to Jesus he was a trained killer.
Mnangagwa said this while addressing mourners at his brother’s funeral in Kwekwe:
For those of us comrades who were taught to destroy and kill and have seen the light in the last days of our lives and will die in Christ, our rewards are in heaven. I am a gentleman and have found favour in the eyes of God because I have accepted Him with all my heart.:
Mnangagwa who is called Ngwena(crocodile) has been fingered in the 1980s killings of Matabeleland people in a genocide known as Gukurahundi and he has over the last few years presided over a government that thwarts opposition protests with an iron fist despite describing himself as soft as wool.

Today(yesterday) marks the second anniversary of the 1st of August 2018 shootings, an episode in respect of which at least 6 compatriots were shot and killed in cold blood.
The families of the deceased are yet to get justice despite the findings of the Motlanthe Commission against the State including the recommendation to arrest the perpetrators.
The MDC Alliance views the episode as a clear sign of a failure to break from the past despite a facade of reform which had been mooted by the Mnangagwa adminstration.
It was a continuation of other episodes including Gukurahundi, the violence in the run up to 2000, 2002, 2005 and 2008 elections, abductions of Itai Dzamara, killings of Tonderai Ndira, Godfrey Kauzani and Talent Mabika among others.
We demand justice for the victims of 1 August 2018.
We also demand the operationalization of the National Peace and Reconciliation Commision including ensuring it’s full independence.
We also demand the urgent establishment of the Independent Complains Mechanism against members of the security forces provided in section 210 of the Constitution.
More importantly there must be an end to the capture of State institutions including the army and police in pursuit of a narrow partisan agenda of power retention.
Our security services must be left to do their work of protecting the territorial intergrity of our country and maintaining law and order following the conduct spelt out in section 208 of the Constitution.
