President Fires State Media Journalists Over Fake News

Tanzanian public broadcaster TBC has suspended nine staff after it aired a hoax story saying that US President Donald Trump had praised President John Magufuli’s performance.

The story, which was broadcast last week, said Mr Trump called Mr Magufuli an “African hero” compared to other leaders who are “doing nothing”.

A statement from TBC said editorial procedures had not been followed.

The broadcaster’s Director General Ayub Chacha said that the station should have verified the information before broadcasting.

The story said that the US president had called on other African leaders to follow Mr Magufuli’s example with his emphasis on good governance and his war against corruption.

Mr Magufuli, known as the “bulldozer” for his hands on approach to leadership, has been waging a public war on corruption which has won him some support locally and internationally.

The article said that Mr Trump made the comments while signing an executive order excluding Tanzanians from a travel ban on African nationals “from countries where presidents are doing nothing and those [that] have declined to leave power.” – BBC

Zanu PF To Blame For Road Carnage

The MDC is saddened and outraged by the loss of 14 lives in a horrendous road accident which took place along the Gwanda – Bulawayo road yesterday after a haulage truck hit a pothole and crushed into a commuter omnibus ferrying mourners to a funeral, leading to their deaths and seriously injuring several others.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragic but avoidable accident. It is sad to note that it has to take nothing short of the loss of precious lives for government to begin to take notice of the serious disrepair of our roads. It is our hope that government will acknowledge and accept responsibility for these unnecessary deaths and swiftly make reparations to the families of the deceased.

The cause of this accident like many others before it is the negligence and rampant corruption inside President Robert Mugabe’s government. The government and in particular the Ministry of Transport must be brought to book over the horrific deterioration of our roads. The ministry seems content with letting bodies pile up while seeing it fit to spend millions of dollars on useless overseas travel for the President. Potholes are now a permanent feature in just about every road and have become death traps.

The question we need the Transport ministry and Zinara in particular to answer is where is the money paid through tollgate and road levies by suffering Zimbabweans going, because instead of improvements on our roads all we are seeing are traffic police officers at literally every 5 kilometer stretch whose sole goal is to further milk motorists of their hard earned cash. Zinara needs to come clean about why it continues to collect revenue from our roads without repairing them for years on end.

We hope for more concerted effort will be put towards fixing our road network as a matter of urgency before more precious lives are lost. A government worth its salt understands clearly that the state of its roads is a reflection of the state of its governance. We advise government to take a leaf from other developing countries like South Africa, Namibia and Botswana who prioritise road infrastructure development ahead of personal enrichment.

Mugabe Gives Up : Cabinet OK’s Civil Servants Bonus Payments

Cabinet has approved the payment of civil servants’ bonuses in cash and workers are guaranteed their 13th cheque beginning next month, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Prisca Mupfumira has said.

The Government needs an additional $180 million to pay its workers their 2016 annual bonuses.

Minister Mupfumira yesterday said the issue of residential stands would now be handled under the National Joint Negotiating Council, a platform that brings together the Government and civil servants unions.

“To give assurance to the workers, Cabinet approved the March 6 agreement that was sealed between Government representatives and the workers,” she said.

“It means the move has the support of the country’s leadership and it was also agreed that the issue of residential stands be handled through the NJNC.”

Civil servants representatives were anxious about their bonuses after last year’s incident when Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa sought to suspend payment of the 13th cheque for two years, a decision reversed by Cabinet a few days later.

The endorsement by Cabinet means the workers’ bonuses will start coming in next month, with members of the Zimbabwe National Army, Air Force of Zimbabwe and the health sector being the first to get their dues.

Members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services will be paid in May followed by teachers in June.

No civil servant will receive bonus payment in July and the last batch, the rest of the civil service, will be paid in August.

Apex Council chairperson Mrs Cecilia Alexander said Minister Mupfumira had engaged them following the decision by Cabinet.

“With what happened in the past we wanted to know if the move announced by Minister Chinamasa had the blessings of Cabinet. Fortunately the Minister engaged us and told us that this has been approved,” she said.

“We now await the actual dates so that our constituency concentrates on service delivery and also be able to plan.

“We applaud the Government for accepting our proposal that we get paid in cash. We now await the movement of other projects which are being done to improve the welfare of the workers.”

In January, the Government offered its workers three payment options to settle the bonuses.

These were residential stands, a cash stipend coupled with non-monetary benefits and property investment bonds.

The workers rejected all the options.

They threatened the Government with demonstrations before a consensus to pay them in cash was reached on March 6.

Cash flow challenges have forced the Government to shift pay dates for civil servants. – State Media

15 KILLED : Sad Scenes As Community Is Thrown Into Mourning

ONE more person has died following last week’s horrific accident that occurred near the National University of Science and Technology, bringing the death toll to 15.

Enert Sibanda who had been admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit died yesterday morning.  Her death came on the same day when seven other victims of the same accident were being buried in moving scenes at West Park Cemetery.

Fourteen people from two families died on the spot on Wednesday night last week when they were travelling in a commuter omnibus to a funeral in Masvingo.

Sibanda suffered serious head injuries and on Sunday, her family sent a plea for $600 for her to undergo a CT head scan.  Her brother, Mr Kenny Sibanda who also lost three children in the crash wept throughout the funeral service and could not hold up even at the cemetery where the other seven accident victims were being buried.

An emotional service was conducted at Kings and Queens funeral parlour where family, residents and friends shed tears as the seven coffins were paraded.

Speaking after the burials, Mr Sibanda said he was devastated by his sister’s death in hospital after the others died on the spot.

“When I thought she would survive, the Lord took her as we laid her fellow kinsmen to rest. I am hopeless, I have lost my children, now it’s my sister…I wonder how I will recover from this tragic loss,” said Mr Sibanda.

His children – Gift, Gracious and Sovia, his younger brother Luke, his ex-wife Magret Dube and her younger sister Rebecca Dube as well as a neighbour Grace Ndemera (48), who was accompanying the mourners to Masvingo when the accident occurred, were buried at West Park Cemetery.

Two other accident victims Danisani Masukume (40) and Yvonne Machingauta as well as Hopewell Masukume (14), whose body was being transported in the kombi for burial in Masvingo when the accident occurred, were buried at West Park Cemetery on Monday.

Kings and Queens funeral parlour donated six coffins as one of the deceased had a policy with the company.

It was a touching moment for children who lost their parents as they bade their parents farewell during the service.

Those who spoke during the service described the accident as tragic and blamed it on the bad roads in the country.

A spokesperson for the Sibanda family thanked the Bulawayo community, Government and the corporate sector for the assistance rendered to the bereaved during the trying time.

“We are also appealing for assistance in taking care of the orphans who are of school-going age, with the little one still a toddler,” said the representative.

“We are also appealing for assistance in taking care of the orphans who are of school-going age, with the little one still a toddler,” said the representative.

Meanwhile, a somber atmosphere engulfed Mkoba 16 suburb in Gweru yesterday as hundreds of residents joined the Mugovera family to pay their last respects after three members of the same family died on the spot after they were hit by a commuter omnibus at the weekend.

Moreblessing Mharakurwa (20), her daughter Anopaishe Mugovera (1) and sister-in-law Tendai Mugovera (11) who was in Grade Six at Pakame Primary School in Shurugwi were hit by a kombi that was travelling in the wrong lane allegedly to avoid potholes in Gweru’s Mkoba suburb.

The Chronicle news crew visited house number 2870/1 Mkoba 16 Gweru around 10AM where mourners were gathered before burial at Mutasa Cemetery in Ascot suburb, Gweru.

Moreblessing, Anopaishe and Tendai were all buried in white coffins.

Moreblessing and Tendai were buried in the adult section while Anopaishe was laid to rest in the children’s section at the cemetery.

A family member, Mr Trust Mugovera, said if it was within his powers, his loved ones would have been buried in one section instead of being separated due to council burial rules.

“My wish is for the commuter omnibus driver to show up and apologise to the family and at least show that he is remorseful,” he said.

Mr Mugovera said they had no intention to revenge but they would let the law take its course.

Methodist Church members, Pakame Primary School teachers, relatives and friends attended the burial. – State Media

Airport Heist : Cop Arrested

Police have arrested four suspects in connection with last week’s brazen heist at OR Tambo International Airport, but are still searching for the stolen money.

One of the suspects is a police officer.

Acting national police commissioner Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane said last night two of the suspects had appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges of armed robbery.

Phahlane declined to comment on the identity of the police officer who had been arrested, or his three alleged accomplices.

“The policeman is still being questioned and has not yet appeared in court. At this stage, we cannot rule out whether more officers will be arrested or not.

“The policeman is still being questioned and has not yet appeared in court. At this stage, we cannot rule out whether more officers will be arrested or not.

“What I can say is that none of the money has been recovered.”

Phahlane said the arrests were the results of the “hard work of our crime intelligence agents”.

“This was not done through a tip-off and credit for the hard work by the Hawks and other police members must be given.”

The heist took place on Tuesday night when a group of men pretending to be police officers stopped GuardForce security personnel as they were transporting the money to a waiting London-bound flight.

GuardForce secures high-risk cargo such as cash, precious metals and diamonds at a cargo storage facility at the airport.

Sources said the attack occurred as GuardForce employees approached the aircraft.

Phahlane also told the media briefing that four people had been arrested in connection with the massacre on the East Rand last week of 14 illegal miners from Lesotho, who were killed in separate shootings at illegal mine shafts near Benoni.

Phahlane said the suspects were also from Lesotho.

“Several firearms, which may have been used in the killings, have been recovered,” he said. Timeslive

“Empty Basket” Basikiti Attacked

The Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs, Shuvai Mahofa last week attacked Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) candidate in the upcoming Mwenezi East parliamentary by-election, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti, describing him as an irrelevant empty basket with nothing meaningful to offer.

Addressing Zanu PF supporters at a rally at Rutenga Primary School to drum-up support for the Zanu PF candidate, Joosbi Omar, ahead of the April 8 by-election, a fired-up Mahofa mocked Bhasikiti as a confused political failure whose party exists merely in name.

“Kuno ndinonzwa kuti kuna Bhasikiti, iri ndiro bhasikiti risina kana chinhu zvaro…yangova tswanda yofanzirofa. Look at what happened in Masvingo RDC by-election, ZimPF’s Rosiwetta Madzivire was humiliated and she immediately resigned…that is how Zanu PF operates,” Mahofa said.

She also denied that Zanu PF was thriving on partisan distribution of public resources like farming equipment and inputs, saying anybody who deserves should benefit from the programme.

“Kana fetiraiza yauya ipai chero nyoka kuti dzizive kumusha,” she said.Party provincial secretary for administration, Alois Baloyi took the rally as an opportunity to informally introduce Ezra Chadzamira as the provincial chairman elect.

“Tauya naye wamakasusukidza….though it is not yet official, but 12 000 votes against 4 000 votes…it is obvious that this one (Chadzamira) is the provincial chairman elect,” said Baloyi to which Chadzamira immediately stood, did a Zanu PF slogan and sat down.

Baloyi was referring to the over 12 000 votes that Chadzamira obtained in the inconclusive Zanu PF provincial chairmanship election against his rival Retired Colonel Mutero Masanganise’s paltry 4 888. VOP

Drama As Mugabe Minister Flees Angry Party Youths

Raging internal turmoil gnawing at President Robert Mugabe’s Zanu PF this week turned ugly in Manicaland after Information and Communication Technology deputy minister Win Mlambo ran for dear life after party youths charged at him for allegedly intruding in their area.

Mlambo was supposed to address a rally at Checheche growth point in Chipinge South constituency when marauding Zanu PF youths stormed the venue, accusing him of fomenting divisions. Mlambo is Zanu PF Chipinge East legislator.

Two vehicles, one carrying items reportedly donated by Mugabe to accident victims and the other transporting party supporters, were damaged in the ensuing melee.

According to sources, the youths were irked by Mlambo’s attitude of allegedly intruding into a different constituency without the consent of the local leadership.

The youths accused the deputy minister of trying to establish his own centre of power in the district.

Mlambo confirmed the brawl, but denied the rally was meant to de-campaign the sitting legislator Enock Porusingazi.

“Indeed that is what happened, but the reasons are false,” he said in an interview with NewsDay yesterday.

“Those were marauding and drunken touts who were organised by some politicians in the area who feared that the rally was going to expose them as double-dipping between Zanu PF and ZimPF. That is what they feared because this rally was for the purpose of accepting people back from ZimPF to Zanu PF.”

Asked what he was going to do to bring those responsible to book, Mlambo said for the sake of peace he was not going to name or shame any party members involved in the violence.

CHILD MARRIAGES IN ZIMBABWE: A Recurring Vicious Cycle

By Caroline Chiimba | Binga, located in the Matebeleland north region of Zimbabwe is among some communal areas in Zimbabwe that has a higher number of female school dropouts necessitating child marriages, some by choice, yet others it is rather helplessness.

Gazing into the empty space through the cottage window in an almost empty room, is a 36year old woman from Binga who seems to be lost in her thoughts.

Siphathisiwe Mnkonka had visited her husband in the City, who is employed as a gardener at the Marningdale Suburbs earlier this year with the hope of getting school fees for her twin daughters who are supposed to be in form one this year.

“The fact that my daughters won’t be able to continue from grade seven to form one, is a deepest cut within my heart,” said Mnkonka, with tears almost pouring from her eyes.

“When my husband told me that the possibility of our daughters proceeding to form one were unlikely due to lack of finance, my heart sank, the glimmer of hope l had of my daughters having a brighter future than l, vanished.”

Mnkonka was a victim of child marriage as she got pregnant and married at the age of 14, and now she fears that the cycle will continue as her other two older daughters had already succumbed to child marriages at the ages of 15 while her last twin daughters might be faced with the same fate.

Mnkonka, who herself was deprived of an education during her time, narrates her ordeal to the world.

“When one of my daughters was impregnated by a married man at the age of 15, l could not report the case to the police with fear of being social outcasts despite the call by the government to do so,” she said.

“l had to watch my baby entering into polygamy. As if the first blow wasn’t enough, the other daughter also fell pregnant at a younger age and had to go to her in-laws place.”

“My daughter who got married at 15, is now 20,” added Mnkonka. “During the past years of marriage she encountered two miscarriages and suffered domestic violence at the hands of her husband’s first wife who accused her of stealing her husband and would assault her at any given time.”

“lt was a very painful phase for me as l could not call her back home looking at our financial standing. However, l’m glad now that she is all grown up and able to fight back.”

Mnkonka had to let go of her daughters with the fear of being mocked in a society where a girl’s place is her marital home. The marriage institution in the Tonga community remains strong and rigid yet polygamy is still highly practised with the perception that marriage will provide protection and family honour at the same time cementing cultural values and norms.

However, the education institution had struggled to penetrate the area as it is faced by a resilient force in form of poverty.

Most of the bread winners in the Tonga community are uneducated and whenever they come to seek for employment in City they are paid money that is almost next to nothing, resulting in them failing to meet educational costs for their children.

Unicef has observed that empowered and educated girls are better able to nourish and care for their children compared to their uneducated counterparts who are likely to be trapped in barbaric cultural practices.

According to statistics, 41 percent of girls are getting married before the age of 18 whilst data shows that 4percent of women aged 20 to 24 were married before the age of 15 while 34percent of them were married before the age of 18 in Zimbabwe.

It is proved beyond reasonable doubt that child marriages often compromises a girl’s development by resulting in early pregnancy and social isolation.

“l wouldn’t want my child to associate herself with a girl who rashes into marriage because that would be a bad influence to her,” said one of the parents.

Child marriages often interrupts the girl child schooling, limiting her opportunities for career and vocational advancement and placing her at an increased risk of domestic violence.

Ending Child marriages will help break the intergenerational cycle of poverty by allowing girls and women to participate more fully in society.

Poverty, lack of empowerment and education has today led to history repeating itself in Mnkonka’s family.

All of the Mnkonka four daughters went to school up to grade seven and dropped out afterwards due to financial constraints.

“Usually when a girl child drops out of school at an early age, the only thing she thinks about is marriage,” commented one of the teachers.

However, the discourse of women and girl empowerment through attainment of education continues to be echoed by Gender activists throughout Zimbabwe.

“We appreciate the stances by the government and gender activists to stop child marriages, but they should implement solutions that would protects the girl child and her family in societies that are still obstinate about issues of child marriages, thinking that it is their cultural right,” said Pluto Ntabande, a youth leader and author.

“Most of people in Binga are wallowing in poverty as they are struggling to withstand the harsh economic situation in Zimbabwe, thus marrying off their daughters have become a way out as fathers and maternal families perceive this as lessening their burden.”

In youth forums and discussion platforms, philanthropists have been urged to assist the Binga society in sponsoring their education and advising them on the importance of awarding their children an education so that we move together as a nation in eradicating the evil deed (child marriages).

Former Minister Sues Chihuri

Ray Nkosi |Former Education Minister and opposition MDC politician, David Coltart has launched an anti -police legal campaign in which he is encouraging motorists to refuse to pay spot fines.

In the campaign, Coltart is inviting all motorists who would have been abused by the police at their roadblocks to come to him so that he represents them in the courts.

“Dear members of the community, have any of the following ever happened to you or any person you know: unreasonably delayed at a police roadblock because you had insufficient funds to pay a fine? and/or the police refuse to issue you a Form 265 to appear before a magistrate so that the magistrate can determine your guilt or innocence? and/or Car keys being confiscated by the police as means of forcing you to pay a spot fine?,”said Coltart .

Coltart who is also a practicing lawyer, said police had no right to force motorists to pay spot fines.

Joice Mujuru Exposé | OPINION

Patrick Guramatunhu | “Rinemanyanga hariputirwi!” (It is impossible to conceal one’s weaknesses forever!) so goes the Shona adage. Mai Mujuru’s weaknesses, hidden and only guessed at for many years, are coming out now.

Those of us who have known Joice Teurai Ropa Mujuru long before independence will tell you that she is a brave woman and that she played her part in the armed struggle but did she deserve her senior position in the struggle? The answer has to be a no.

After independence Joice Mujuru was one of the Zanu PF leaders who has kept their very senior positions in the party and government, cabinet member, in her case, for 34 years the last 10 of which she was VP, second only to President Mugabe. The question arises again; did she deserve her promotion? The answer is once again a no!

The truth is Joice Mujuru is not clever; it is impossible for anyone, with any wit themselves, to miss that. There is no doubt that she is painfully aware of her own serious limitations and, like many others in her position, has learned to guard her secret by saying very little. She has heeded Lincoln’s advice!

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt,” advised USA President Abraham Lincoln.

Saying very little and even then only from pre-prepared written speeches was all very well whilst she lived under Mugabe’s shadow, who spoke for us all – cabinet, parliament, Zanu PF, povo, everybody. Ever since the day she and many others were booted out of Zanu PF, especially when they decided to form their own party with Joice Mujuru as leader, she has had to open her mouth and speak. Each time she has open her mouth she has left the listener in no doubt what a fool she is!

“The Zimbabwean people have known me for a long time, from the days when I was the youngest minister. They know exactly how I’ve been relating to issues that affect their daily lives,” she said in a Newsweek Magazine report.

“They are seeing that it’s now my time, it’s now my chance. Because before, I’ve been subservient to lots of leaderships. But now that I will be the leader in my own right, surely… they think something better will come out of it.”

If she has been working on issues that affect us, the ordinary people’s daily lives, all these 34 years when she was at the very heart of this Zanu PF regime then why has the country sunk into this political and economic mess? Corruption has become rampant and over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans have been murdered in cold blood to establish and retain the de facto Zanu PF dictatorship. She has said and done nothing to stop this madness; nothing other than play her part in the tyranny and take her lion’s share of the looted wealth.

Last years, when she was asked why she had never done nothing to stop the corruption, vote rigging, political oppression, etc.; she said did not see any of it. “A puppy does not open its eyes the day it is born!” she argued!

The truth is Mai Mujuru is a simpleton who would have never risen above the rank of unit leader during the war and held no higher position than rural councillor in public life if Zimbabwe had an open, healthy and functional democratic system. There are many, many men and women who would have served the nation far better than she did if they had been deputy minister, minister, VP, etc. in her place!

Whilst Mai Mujuru has admitted that corruption is a serious problem in Zimbabwe; she insists that she is not corrupt, nor was her late husband, Solomon Mujuru. She has yet to name even one person in the country who is corrupt. She has yet to square the circle, there cannot be corruption but no corrupt person(s) just as there cannot be murder but no murderer.

Indeed, in February 2014, just a few months before she was booted out of Zanu PF, she was telling women in Chinhoyi that there was no corruption they should not listen to the lies of “regime change agents”.

There can be no doubt that Mai Mujuru is corrupt and incompetent, especially now that she has been forced to open her mouth and remove all doubt that she is a fool who was promoted way above her level of competence. If she thinks Zimbabweans will ever elect her, in a free, fair and credible election, president then she is even more daft than she looks!

Mai Mujuru has already said that she and her party would contest next year’s elections even if not even one democratic reform has been implemented to ensure the elections are free and fair. If she has no snowball in hell chance of winning a free and fair election, she may just as well take her chance contest the flawed elections.

After 34 years of enjoying absolute power the simpleton, Mai Mujuru, has become so intoxicated that she is not only blind to the reality that she betrayed the nation but is daft to think the people of Zimbabwe are equally blind of her treasonous betrayal.

“But now that I will be the leader in my own right, surely… they think something better will come out of it,” said Mujuru in her delirium!

Mai Mujuru, just like the corrupt and incompetent Morgan Tsvangirai or the corrupt and murderous tyrant Robert Mugabe, she is desperate to get into power so desperate she is sick. The cure is a simple one – implement all the democratic reforms to ensure the next elections are free, fair and democratic. None of these politicians will survive the close scrutiny of a free press and open debate.

The de facto one-party dictatorship has help Mai Mujuru hide her foolishness for 34 years but take that cloak away, in less than two years, already everyone knows she is a first class fool who should have never held high public office.

Gokomere Headmaster Diverts Exam Cash

Gokomere High School headmaster Mr Stanley Mutsambiwa has been transferred and demoted after he was found guilty of diverting examination fees for average pupils to academically gifted pupils to ensure a high pass rate.

The pass rate at the Roman Catholic-run school has mostly been above 90 percent for both Ordinary Level and Advanced Level public examinations.

About 30 parents of former pupils who are said to have been prejudiced reportedly made formal complaints to the school and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s provincial offices in Masvingo.

Masvingo provincial education director Mr Zadius Chitiga said:

“Mr Mutsambiwa’s matter was finalised and verdict was reached. The position is Mr Mutsambiwa has been transferred to Mutero High School in Gutu as deputy headmaster after he was found guilty of a number of issues. This is a slight demotion from his position as headmaster. For the details on the allegations, you can contact Primary and Secondary Education Ministry permanent secretary Dr Sylvia Utete-Masango.”

Efforts to speak to Dr Utete-Masango were fruitless yesterday as she was said to be locked in a meeting. – state media

Bulawayo Rejects Bill Over Gukurahundi Killings

Bulawayo residents have rejected the National Peace and Reconciliation Bill for failing to deal with the Gukurahundi killings.

The killing of civilians by a crack army unit in the 1980s – a period referred to as Gukurahundi – took centre stage during a public hearing on the National Peace and Reconciliation Bill in Zimbabwe’s second largest city, Bulawayo.

Local people rejected the bill saying it does not address the Fifth Brigade atrocities that left at least 20,000 people dead in Matabeleland and Midlands provinces.

They said there won’t be any peace and reconciliation as long as the Gukurahundi atrocities are not addressed.

The locals slammed the bill for not addressing the issue of the atrocities and others also criticized it for ‘giving too much power’ to the justice ministry in a number of instances.

HELL BREAKS LOOSE: Mpofu To Lose 50 Properties

Minister Obert Mpofu(middle)

Macro-Economic Planning and Investment Promotion minister and business tycoon Obert Mpofu is set to lose 50 properties he reportedly surrendered as surety to secure a $2 million loan from CBZ Bank after the financial institution approached the High Court seeking provisional sentence on a liquid document.

The Zanu PF secretary for finance — who owns companies such as Trebo and Khays, Maminza Transport, and Khanondo Safari and Tours — could be sitting on a crumbling business empire after some of his movable properties reportedly went under the hammer over an outstanding debt last year.

The minister owns immovable properties in Bulawayo such as Centrust Building, York House and Anchor House, among others, and some properties in Victoria Falls and Gwanda.

CBZ Bank on Monday this week filed summons under case number HC2220/17, after realising that Mpofu was not making efforts to service the debt he secured on behalf of his financial institution, the now-defunct Allied Bank Limited.

“The plaintiff (CBZ) claim is based on the following: A surety mortgage bond of $2 million executed by the defendant on behalf of the principal debtor, Allied Bank Limited, and in favour of CBZ Bank Limited over the defendant’s (Mpofu) immovable property known as certain piece of land situate in the District of Salisbury being Stand 2501 Glen Lorne Township measuring 4 395 square metres held under Deed of Grant 163/1998,” the bank said.

In its court papers, through its lawyers G N Mlotshwa and Company, CBZ Bank said it had decided to pursue Mpofu’s properties after realising that his bank was in January 2015 placed under liquidation and was currently not trading since it surrendered its banking licence to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.

“The principal debtor, Allied Bank Limited, neglected or failed to pay the outstanding debt to the plaintiff before it was placed in liquidation. In terms thereof the principal debtor’s surrender of banking licence and subsequent placement into liquidation has rendered the debt due and payable,” CBZ Bank said.

“Despite demand being made on the 12th January, 2015, the amount remains unpaid and defendant has not disputed the debt.”

According to the court papers, on January 15, 2015, CBZ Bank’s head of recoveries and collections, one N Chanakira, wrote to Titan Law Legal Practitioners explaining to them the position as regards Mpofu bank’s debt.

“We hereby submit the above name (Allied Bank) for inclusion in our portfolio . . . We enclose the following copy documents: Short-term loan and 50 surety mortgage bonds. Proceed to place caveats on all the properties to safeguard the bank’s interest and proceed with the recovery process,” Chanakira said.

Mpofu is yet to respond to the summons. He also has a pending case with over 20 journalists laid off from his now-defunct The Zimbabwe Mail newspaper.

Several of Mpofu’s operations in the Hwange mining town have either closed down or relocated to Victoria Falls.

His Minus restaurant, Matetsi Meats butchery, KST Bypass fuel service station (all leased from Hwange Colliery Company), KoMpofu sports bar and KoMpofu butchery in Mpumalanga high-density suburb in Hwange closed almost two years ago.

The closure of his Hwange companies came hardly a month after the former Mines minister was dragged to the Labour Court by security guards at his Moya Security firm over salary arrears. – Newsday

Coalition Splits, Parties To Run For Elections Separately

BANJUL – The Gambia’s ruling coalition has broken apart ahead of a parliamentary poll next month, dealing a blow to new President Adama Barrow as he overhauls the country’s political system following his shock election victory. Nine political parties will run separately in the April 6 election, seven of which had united last December to oust veteran leader Yahya Jammeh, who ruled the tiny west African nation with an iron fist for 22 years.

Barrow had promised in January following his surprise defeat of Jammeh that the coalition would “continue as a family”.

But documents issued by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Monday showed that 239 candidates will stand in April, representing nine separate organisations, with some running as independents.

The national assembly was long seen as a rubber stamp for Jammeh’s executive decrees, but the new president has promised to work in tandem with lawmakers, notably on constitutional reform in the former British colony.

The coalition split is likely to embolden Jammeh’s Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), which remains a major force in Gambian politics although the former president is now in exile in Equatorial Guinea.

The APRC took 43 of the 48 seats contested during the last parliamentary election in 2012, which was boycotted by the vast majority of opposition parties.

Five seats are also appointed by the president to give an overall 53 seats.

Barrow had barely finished putting his cabinet together before disagreements broke out last week over the poll, with one senior government source warning at the time that talks for an ongoing alliance were close to collapse.

Disagreements over representation and allocation of seats had caused tensions, the source said.

Barrow was formerly a member of the United Democratic Party (UDP), the largest opposition grouping in the Jammeh era, but resigned to run as the coalition candidate.

Campaign for the poll begins on Wednesday and ends on April 4. – AFP.

Tsvangirai Beats Police And CIO

MDC President Morgan Tsvangirai on Monday beat police and State Security agents in Beitbridge, who were left with an egg in the face after a court freed 10 MDC-T members arrested on allegations of holding an unsanctioned meeting.

In a 12-page judgment, magistrate Trevor Nyatsanza interpreted the Public Order and Security Act (Posa) and how it could not apply against Morgan Ncube and nine others.

Nyatsanza said in the event a meeting had been held, only the convener should have been arrested and not the entire crowd.

Morgan Ncube, the MDC-T 2013 losing parliamentary candidate and nine others, including a woman with a baby, were on March 3 this year arrested on allegations of holding a meeting without seeking police approval.

They, through Patrick Tererai of Tererai Legal Practice, denied the charge arguing their number fell far short of the 16 mentioned in Posa.

The 10 also argued that even in the event their number surpassed 16, the same law required that only the convener of the meeting be answerable.

The State unsuccesfully argued that about 60 people attended the meeting, but only those with red MDC-T T-shirts had been arrested. Newsday

Jews And Indians Caught In Mugabe Succession Wars

A row has erupted between rival Zanu PF youth groups in Bulawayo over allegations of mistreatment of Indian and Jewish businesspeople in the city, it has emerged.

One of the groups currently engaged in intermittent protests to force the ruling party to expel Zanu PF interim Bulawayo provincial executive led and Anna Mokgohloa, claim rogue youths who support Provincial Affairs minister Eunice Sandi-Moyo were allegedly behind the harassment.

“We note with concern the abuse of businesspeople, especially those of the Indian and Jewish communities. We demand that these businesses are a no-go area as they have served Bulawayo for many years,” a petition seen by journalists read.

“We cannot allow a businessman, masquerading as a party official, abuse youths in party regalia in harassing and abusing the members of the business community.”

However, Sandi-Moyo and Mokgohloa have since distanced themselves from the allegations cited against them by the youths.

Instead, the Zanu PF youth league politburo secretary Kudzanai Chipanga, who was in the city over the weekend to quell tempers accused an unnamed Pakistani businessman of meddling in the affairs of the ruling party by sponsoring divisions within its Bulawayo structures.

Chipanga was quoted saying: “We hear there is mobilisation of youths here in Bulawayo and money is changing hands.

We hear that there are foreigners sponsoring youths and some members of the youth executive to cause disunity in the youth league.”

At least 12 members of the Zanu PF youth league’s Bulawayo provincial executive out of 34 resigned their positions last week, and then demanded that the whole structure be disbanded to pave way for fresh elections.

Zanu PF’s Bulawayo structures have been in turmoil since President Robert Mugabe’s birthday celebrations in Matobo last month, amid accusations of shoddy preparations and abuse of aid meant for the poor.

Two members of the youth league Davis Muhambi and Munashe Mututsa were suspended by Sandi-Moyo over allegations they had refused to help in fundraising for Mugabe’s birthday bash. – Newsday

Zhuwao Defends Green Bombers

Terrence Mawawa, Gweru | Youth Indigenization and Economic Empowerment Minister, Patrick Zhuwao has stressed his support for the National Youth Service saying the programme plays a pivotal role in campaigning for Zanu PF.

Addressing party supporters in the Midlands Capital, Zhuwao praised National Youth Service members also known as Green Bombers for their loyalty to Zanu PF. Despite calls by opposition political parties and members of the civic society for the disbandment of programme, Zhuwao defended the role of Green Bombers. He claimed they were custodians of sovereignty.

The Green Bombers are well known for tormenting perceived Zanu PF opponents, political observers have said.

“Everyone should be reminded that the National Youth Service is clearly stipulated in Section 20 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe. Therefore the programme is here stay,” said Zhuwao.

He added: “We are actually in the process of reviving the programme across the country. We look forward to 1260 members this year. Those who are making a lot of noise about the programme will be put to shame.”

He accused the Zimbabwe Peace Project(ZPP) of peddling “falsehoods” about the National Youth Service.

“I know the ZPP has been saying a lot of unfounded issues about the National Youth Service,” said Zhuwao.

At least 80 000 members of the dreaded youth militia have been trained in Zimbabwe since 2007 according to the United States Country Report on Human Rights.

Mnangagwa Man Assassinated, Police Reveal | BREAKING NEWS

By Staff Reporter | A high profile Emmerson Mnangagwa man and war veteran, Nathaniel Mhiripiri who has been found dead, was assassinated, police have revealed.

Although full investigations were underway, Police and intelligence officers have revealed Mhiripiri was murdered in cold blood.  The top Rusape politician, vocal war veteran and farmer, was found dead at his Abeid Farm 10km along Rusape- Mutare Highway.

The late Mhiripiri can be seen in pictures from the recent ZANU PF conference standing by former Minister Hubert Nyanhongo.

He had been missing for three days after he was accused of siding with Mnangagwa (the Lacoste faction).

Detectives who spoke to the state media present at the scene, said preliminary investigations were pointing to murder.

His decomposing body was found near a stream a few metres from the main road which lead to his farm house. His relatives reported him missing to the police yesterday (Monday) and a search was launched at his farm.

His body was found body lying under a tree in a ‘dried’ pool of blood. His body was conveyed to Rusape General Hospital for post-mortem.

Mhiripiri was also Zanu PF Manicaland provincial secretary for Labour and Social Welfare.

Pothole Accident Death Toll Rises

Relatives and friends yesterday paid their last respects to the pothole accident victims after a mass service held at a Bulawayo Funeral Parlour.

Mourners are still gathered at number 58113/4 Mabutweni suburb and burial arrangements for Enert would be announced in due course.

Methodist Church members, Pakame Primary School teachers, relatives and friends attended the burial.-state media

Zimbabwean Boxer Dies in London

By ZDFG Correspondent|  Appeal for donations to repatriate the body of the late Bhekitshe Moyo back to Zimbabwe.

An inquest is due to take place in the United Kingdom after a Zimbabwean boxer was found dead in a park in South London.

Bhekitshe Moyo, 42, popularly known as ‘Tiger’ to his friends and fans was reported as a missing person on the 6th March 2017 at around 6.30pm after suicide notes had been found at his friend’s place where he had been staying.

Police and friends described desperate scenes as his young sister Mpilwenhle tried to co-ordinate the search over Facebook from Southern Africa. The deceased’s mobile phone was triangulated and the area searched (Mitcham Common). He was eventually located by a Police helicopter which in turn then guided the officers on the ground to the location. Further notes were found on him. One of the notes was to the UK immigration service.

Moyo was born in the Manama area of Gwanda in Zimbabwe where he attended Nhana Primary and Bethel Secondary School. He then went to South Africa where he attained a degree in banking.
He migrated to the UK in 2002 on a sports visa (boxing) which he renewed regularly as required and competed in more than 50 professional bouts. He used his spare time to study law and volunteer at boxing clubs, teaching children the sport.

Everything changed when he was refused leave to remain when he applied for settlement after a qualifying period. Friends said he was threatened with deportation and was kept at Brook House detention centre. Moyo used all his savings as he fought for the right to stay in the UK through the courts. He dropped out of his LLB course due to lack of funds and was reduced to sofa surfing after he became homeless.

On the 15th February 2017, Moyo wrote to the Home Office and told his case worker that: ‘If I have any freedom left, that freedom is the control over my own life and body and I shall exercise it by removing myself from the hurt the Home Office has put me under and end my own life.’ In the same letter, he told the Home Office of a previous suicide attempt in November 2016, while he was detained at Brook House adding that unless his case was resolved, his road was nearing its end.

In his last message on Facebook at 18:51 hrs on the 6th March, Moyo encouraged people to fight for a just and democratic world concluding:
‘I shed a tear as I write this because I will not be there when a new and just world is built. I have to sleep now. I love you all. Now be good to one another. Peace.’

Zimbabwean community leaders in the UK said it was difficult to understand why authorities ignored the risk and released him.

One of his friends, Lance, said of Moyo: ‘Bheki had no bad bone in him, he was such a good man. I have never known anyone as good and sincere as Bheki. He was like Mandela. I used to call him ‘The next Madiba.”

Moyo’s family said his mother, who lives in the village, was too upset to talk but is desperate to raise money for a visa and air tickets to travel to the UK to take Moyo’s body back to the place of his birth. His sister Mpilwenhle thanked his friends and in particular Wasim IIyas and his family for their assistance, both on the day and in the days leading up to Moyo’s death.

ZImbabwe Diaspora Focus Group (ZDFG) chairperson Lucia Dube said anyone wishing to help or to get further details can contact Moyo’s family representative in the UK – Thapelo Mdlongwa Nkwate on +44 (0)7710122535 (calls) or +44 (0) 7764270132 (WhatsApp).

Dep Mayor Dies One Month After Being Released From Prison

Kwekwe deputy mayor Aaron Sithole (MDC-T) has died, hardly a month after he was released from prison on bail.

Sithole died in Harare yesterday morning at a private hospital, after his health deteriorated while he was held at Hwahwa Prison in Gweru for nearly a month.

Close friend and fellow councillor, Janet Ticharunga confirmed his death.

“This sad news has left our hearts shattered. He was a sober and calm gentleman, who was unwavering in the face of dictatorship,” she said.

Sithole was slapped with a two-year jail term in January by Kwekwe provincial magistrate Ngoni Nduna, after being found guilty of engaging in violence during a demonstration against President Robert Mugabe’s regime.

He denied the charges and instead told the court that he was suffering from hypertension and was not in any shape to engage in demonstrations or throw stones at the police as alleged.

Sithole was, however, jailed together with MDC-T activist Tendai Virimayi and councillor Weston Masiya, who is also battling for life in hospital following his release on appeal.

The two councillors complained of having been exposed to harsh cold weather and poor food during their incarceration, which affected their health.

Kwekwe mayor Matenda Madzoke said his deputy was a sober and hardworking councillor, who was irreplaceable.

“We have lost a man who was driven by the interest of the people of Kwekwe. I worked well with him despite the fact that he was from MDC-T and I am from Zanu PF. It will be very difficult to replace him,” he said.-Newsday

Bulawayo and Mat North reject Gukurahundi Bill again

  • Mugabe “heroes acre escape.”
  • Bulawayo and Mat North reject Gukurahundi Bill again.

By Stella Moyo| In what has been termed a Mugabe “heroes acre escape,” Bulawayo and Matabeleland North provinces have yet again rejected the proposed Truth and Reconciliation Bill now commonly referred to as the Gukurahundi Bill.

The bill has been pushed in this year 2017, 33 years after the Gukurahundi evils of the early 80s, a rush said to portray President Robert Mugabe’s attempt to carpet down the truth.

Residents from the two provinces completely rubbished the bill which is being brought for public consultations for the second time after it was also rejected by both Members of Parliament and members of the public in last year’s consultations.

The consulted residents claim that the redrafted bill still resembles the initial one which they say gives more protection to the perpetrators of former violence and atrocities instead of the victims.

The residents further claim that the bill gives too much room to state security to deny some so called big people room not to be tried in public for their involvements in past injustices and atrocities on the claim that their evidence could be a threat to national security.

In the consultations held in Bulawayo yesterday, residents even demanded for the complete dissolution of the current Parliamentary Committee on Justice claiming that the committee was failing to do its work by repeatedly producing a bill which fails to meet the constitutional expectations on truth and reconciliation.

The hearings move to Matabeleland South in Plumtree Town today where the people from Matabeleland South who were hardest hit by Gukurahundi atrocities of the early eighties are expected to make their contributions on the bill.

Extend November Exam Registration

ZIMSEC SHOULD EXTEND EXAM REGISTRATION

I got a shock of my lifetime when i heard that The Zimbabwe schools Examination council Zimsec set 31 March as the deadline for Ordinary and Advanced level exam registration for the November examinations.

If not carefully monitored the decision will create some problems for those children who have been unable to raise funds for the examinations.

Most parents were caught unaware and the amounts involved are beyond reach of many parents.

The person behind this deadline is living in his own world detached from the one we live.
Why such a sudden change without an explanation.

In my honest view the authorities should revisit the examination registration deadline to enable many children to write examinations.

The mormalcy of the person who changed the deadline from May to March 2017 is highly questionable and a dangerous administrator.

It will be shocking if the office of the president approved this adjustment without a valid justification.
The authorities involved should revisit the issue because most schools have already closed the registration process throwing the majority of kids into the streets without certification.
This is an urgent matter that requires clarity and attention from the authorities.

ZRP Cop Caught Selling Stolen South – African Cattle

A police officer stationed in Beitbridge has been arrested for allegedly conniving with two people in an attempt to sell 27 cattle stolen from South Africa to the Cold Storage Commission in Bulawayo.

Patrick Gwete (34), a police officer based at Tuli police station in Beitbridge, Onius Ndou (46) and Leonard Mangavha (40) all of Swereki area under Chief Stauze, pleaded not guilty to stocktheft charges when they appeared before Beitbridge resident magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi.

They were remanded out of custody to March 20 for continuation of trial. Beitbridge Area Prosecutor, Mr Johannes Tlou said on August 3 last year at around midnight, Ndou and Mangavha illegally crossed the Limpopo River into South Africa and stole 27 cattle valued at R244, 000 at Kongo Farm.

They then allegedly drove the cattle back into the country on the same day. Mr Tlou said the pair also bought seven other cattle on August 4 at a cattle auction in Gwanda.

They then allegedly loaded 15 of the stolen cattle and seven others that they had bought into a hired truck and transported them to the CSC abattoir in Bulawayo. Ndou and Mangavha allegedly used movement of animal permits supported by police stock clearance forms they had acquired at the public cattle auction.
It was not stated what they did with the remaining 12 cattle stolen from South Africa.
The court heard that on August 10 at around 6AM, the stock controller at the CSC abattoir, Mr Timothy Nare, discovered that the number of cattle Ndou and Mangavha had brought was more than those entered on the public auction permits.
He also noted that the cattle had different brand marks from those on the police clearance forms. Nare then contacted Ndou and also reported the matter at Donnington police station.
The prosecutor said Ndou then went to CSC Bulawayo where he collected the police stock clearance forms.
He then allegedly sought the assistance of Gwete who issued him with another stock clearance form with serial numbers matching the description of the stolen cattle and their brand marks.
Ndou and Mangavha then allegedly contacted one Constable Shoko at Donnington police station seeking assistance to clear the cattle at the CSC abattoir.
Ndou and Mangavha proceeded to Bulawayo where they were arrested by police from Donnington police station upon arrival and they implicated Gwete. State Media

Zuma: I Never Wanted To Be President Of South Africa

President Jacob Zuma says he never wanted to be president but a mere briefcase carrier for leaders.

He says all he wanted was to be behind the scenes and help with ‘minor duties’.

President Jacob Zuma has reportedly said he never wanted to be a president but a mere “briefcase carrier” for leaders.

DispatchLIVE reports Zuma told delegates at the Amathole ANC regional conference held in Mpekweni Resort near Port Alfred on Sunday evening that all he ever wanted was to be behind the scenes and help leaders with “minor duties” such as carrying their briefcases.

“I did not want to be president because I knew all these difficulties [that come with the job] … I thought being in the background and assisting leaders by carrying their briefcases, their jackets and the like it would be just fine than to lead because to lead is a difficulty – because you are faced with decisions to take,” Zuma said.

Zuma’s comments were seen as a thinly veiled response to ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe, who told a crowd of SACP supporters in January he did not intend on being a “bag carrier” for long.

“We’re not runners of a certain candidate, but leaders of the movement,” Mantashe said. “We have a right to be candidates ourselves. We are not bag carriers of anyone.”

Zuma also said his job was more difficult for him because he had an understanding of the “global balance of forces” that were apparently preventing development in Africa.

He reportedly launched a scathing attack against the west during his address to delegates.

“If you have this knowledge, it becomes even more difficult because you can take decisions that you cannot explain to anyone – because if you explain – it could impact very negatively [on] the organisation itself,” Zuma said. – Citizen

RBZ puts Withdrawal Limit for Tobacco Farmers

Tobacco farmers will be permitted to withdraw cash of up to $1 000 from their first sale and $500 for following sales in light of ongoing shortages of cash that the country is facing, the central bank said yesterday.

Zimbabwe, which is using the United States dollar as its chief currency, is battling cash shortages that have been triggered by mainly high imports and externalisation. To mitigate the cash shortages, the Government introduced bond notes, a medium of exchange equivalent in value to the greenback, which are backed by a $200 million Afrexim Bank facility. The 2017 tobacco selling season opens today.

In a joint statement with the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) and farmers associations, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) said growers would be prioritised.

“The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, TIMB and Tobacco Farmers Associations wish to advise that under the current 2017 tobacco selling, individual small-scale farmers will be allowed to withdraw cash of up to $1 000 from their first tobacco sale and a maximum of up to $500 for subsequent sales,” it said.

Large-scale commercial farmers, the RBZ said, would be required to justify their cash requirements through applications to their bankers.

“The commercial farmers will be required to give a day’s notice for such cash withdrawals.

“The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and all the banking institutions are geared to assist farmers to access their cash during the current marketing season. Farmers are encouraged to use electronic money (plastic money) for their transactions,” the central bank said.

Tobacco merchants have mobilised about $600 million to purchase the crop this season.

Meanwhile the RBZ said the 5 percent export incentive for the current season would be credited to farmers’ bank accounts on a monthly basis.

In order to encourage tobacco farmers to increase production, as well as promote financial inclusion, the RBZ introduced a five percent export incentive to growers payable through normal banking channels. Zimbabwe anticipates an output of 205 million kg of tobacco during the 2016/17 selling season. — New Ziana.

Man Rapes Teenager Inside Car

A Harare man who raped his friend’s sister in his car after offering her a lift home on Christmas Day, will spend the next 11 years in jail.

Davison Mutizwa (44) raped the 19-year-old woman in his vehicle while her two-year-old son watched.

The woman reportedly sustained internal injuries in her privates and bled for two weeks, a medical report revealed.

The magistrate Ms Lucy Mungwari sentenced Mutizwa to 16 years in prison, but suspended five years on condition of good behaviour.

Mutizwa will serve 11 effective years.

There was drama in court when Mutizwa’s mother wept uncontrollably soon after Ms Mungwari pronounced the sentence.

When Mutizwa was being led to the court’s holding cells by a prison guard, his mother stood up and raised her hands and wailed uncontrollably in disbelief.

“Maihwee. yohwee kani mwana wangu kani,” she wailed, much to the astonishment of the court and the gallery.

She had to be escorted out of the court room by a court orderly, as she was now disturbing the proceedings.

Ms Mungwari said a lengthy custodial sentence for Mutizwa would meet the justice of the offence, considering that he exposed the victim to sexually transmitted diseases.

She said the court needed to send a strong message to would be offenders.

“The convicted person did not respect the woman’s rights and worse still he exposed three people to sexually transmitted diseases – that is his wife, the victim and her husband,” she said.

“You almost ruined her marriage and her wedding was cancelled due to your actions. It is now uncertain if the wedding will take place.”

In aggravation, the prosecutor Mr Ephraim Zinyandu urged the court to send Mutizwa to jail for a lengthy period.

Mr Zinyandu proved that on Christmas Day last year, the woman went to a Christmas party with her child in Old Tafara suburb.

At around midnight, she decided to go back home to the nearby New Mabvuku suburb and was accompanied to the bus stop by her brother.

The victim’s brother flagged down Mutizwa’s vehicle after recognising him and he assured his sister that she would get home safely since he knew him.

Mutizwa drove to New Mabvuku and the woman gave him 25 cents which he said was not enough.

He then parked his vehicle and started demanding sexual intercourse as compensation for the other 25 cents, after telling her that the distance cost 50 cents.

Mutizwa proceeded to rape the woman.

Tsvangirai Attacked

VIVA Zimbabwe and former ZANU PF Central Committee member, Acie Lumumba has attacked MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

Writing in on Tuesday, Lumumba said Tsvangirai can never take over the Presidency from Robert Mugabe.

“While I want Mugabe gone, there is no way I want him replaced by Tsvangirai or Mujuru. Absolutely NO WAY

Chief Marange Laid To Rest

Hundreds of people thronged Nyachityu Village in Marange to pay their last respects to former acting Chief Marange Mr Gilbert Chikwadombo, who died on Sunday and was buried at his homestead here yesterday.

He was 49.

Mr Chikwadombo, who is remembered for serving his area with distinction both as a traditionalist and politician, succumbed to suspected malaria.

Addressing mourners, Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Dr Chris Mushohwe said Mr Chikwadombo left a void difficult to fill.

Dr Mushohwe said Mr Chikwadombo dedicated his life to serving the people politically and traditionally, which justifies why President Mugabe accorded him liberation hero status.

He explained that such a status can only be accorded to true patriots, adding that even the likes of former Vice President Dr Joice Mujuru will not get such recognition since she has sold out.

“I know him as someone who was both politically and traditionally correct and worked tirelessly to ensure development of the Marange area. He was shrewd, and a gift to both Government and Zanu-PF. He was a true leader, a humble and servant leader,” said Dr Mushohwe, adding that the departed treated all equally.

“I have never seen a traditional leader who was as humble as Gilbert. When you are a chief, you get surrounded by many people, but Gilbert loved all equally. He was a brave and articulate leader. He had a huge family (nine wives and 31 children) but loved them equally and made sure they co-existed,” said Dr Mushohwe.Dr Mushohwe said: “We built many schools and clinics with him. We have six clinics that are at different levels towards completion, we have many schools that we started building with him. There was no development initiated in this area without his involvement. He was always at the forefront.”

The Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs Cde Mandi Chimene, who was represented by the acting provincial administrator Mr Edgar Seenza said Mr Chikwadombo was revered for his hard work, and urged mourners to emulate his good exploits.

Family spokesman Mr Farai Marange said Mr Chikwadombo’s death was both shocking and unbelievable.

He was born on June 14, 1968, and did his primary education at Makomwe Primary School before enrolling at Nharira High.

He served as acting Chief Marange from 2006 to October 2016.

He joined Zanu-PF in 1989 as a branch chairman and the following year was elected the district youth chair. In 1990 he rose to become the secretary for administration in the then disbanded district coordinating committee. In 2013 he was elected into the Zanu-PF provincial executive and served as its secretary for gender and culture.

During his reign as acting chief, he was instrumental in the construction of St Noah primary and secondary schools as well as the establishment of the Marange Community Share Ownership Trust. – State Media

Community Service For Woman Who Assaulted Nephew To Death

A woman from Bulawayo who indiscriminately assaulted her nephew to death for allegedly stealing Z$100 000, was yesterday ordered to perform 360 hours of community service.

Ntombizodwa Ncube (46) of Cowdray Park suburb fatally assaulted Brighton Moyo (10) on suspicion that he stole school fees money which had gone missing in their house in 2005.

Ncube, who was initially facing a murder charge, was convicted of a lesser charge of culpable homicide by Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Martin Makonese.

She was sentenced to five years in jail of which three years were suspended for five years on condition that she does not within that period commit a similar crime.

The remaining two years were further suspended on condition that she performs 360 hours of community service at Mahlathini Primary School in Cowdray Park suburb starting from today.

In passing sentence, Justice Makonese condemned Ncube’s conduct, saying it was deplorable.

“The young victim suffered a painful death and the courts frown upon people who take the law into their own hands. The force you used was extreme and you certainly exceeded the bounds of discipline when you brutally and senselessly attacked a 10-year-old boy.

“The conduct of the accused person is deplorable and the courts have a duty to jealously safeguard the sanctity of human life,” said the judge.

Justice Makonese said a custodial sentence would be too harsh given the delay in the prosecution.

He expressed concern over the delay by the Prosecutor-General’s Office to prosecute the matter.

“A delay of 12 years is inexcusable and the Prosecutor-General’s Office is called upon to make follow ups on cases lined up for prosecution. In fact, there must be inbuilt mechanisms put in place,” said Justice Makonese.

Prosecuting, Mr Khumbulani Ndlovu said on March 12 in 2005 at around 7.30PM, Ncube confronted Brighton and started accusing him of stealing Z$100 000 which had gone missing in the house.

The boy denied taking the money and Ncube was not convinced by the response.

“The accused person sent the boy’s sister to cut a switch from a peach tree in the yard. She indiscriminately assaulted the deceased,” said Mr Ndlovu.

He said after the assault, the boy went to sleep in the lounge and died during the night.

The following morning, Ncube tried to resuscitate the boy by pouring water on him but discovered that he was already dead.

Ncube informed her neighbours and the matter was reported to the police leading to her arrest.

Post mortem results show that the cause of the death was subarachnoid haemorrhage and multiple assaults.

By Staff Reporter | A top Emmerson Mnangagwa aide, Nathaniel Mhiripiri has been found dead.

The top Rusape politician, vocal war veteran and farmer, was found dead at his Abeid Farm 10km along Rusape- Mutare Highway.

He had been missing for three days after he was accused of siding with Mnangagwa (the Lacoste faction).

The cause of his death was yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.

Woman Dies After Horrific NUST Accident

Mourners are still gathered at number 58113/4 Mabutweni suburb and burial arrangements for Enert would be announced in due course.

Insiza Suspends Issuing Residential Stands

Insiza Rural District Council has temporarily suspended the issuing of stands at the new Bekezela high density area as it requires at least US$2 million to install water and sewer reticulation system for the residential suburb.

The gold mining district has continued to see an influx of fortune seekers in Filabusi, thereby creating a demand for housing stands.

Insiza Rural District Council chief executive officer Mr Fidres Manombe says the local authority’s housing project has been hampered by the lack of funds to install water and sewer reticulation system at Bekezela high density area.

Of the US$2 million required by the council for developing the stands, government through the public sector investment programme has availed US$200 000 which will see the local authority installing collective septic tanks.

Ward 15 Councillor Thembinkosi Ngwenya says the local authority is keen to see the Growth Point expanding, hence efforts to provide stands at subsidised costs.

Filabusi has a total of 2927 stands with over 500 people currently on the council housing list.

Under the ZIM ASSET social services cluster Matabeleland South province had set itself to deliver 12 500 houses by 2018 and recent statistics shows that the province has surpassed its target.-state media

Mugabe Donates Biscuits to Cyclone Victims

President Robert Mugabe dished out biscuits and snacks to victims of Cyclone Dineo.

Mugabe donated biscuits and snacks to Higher Education minister and Tsholotsho North legislator, Jonathan Moyo’s constituency.

The full list of goods which the president donated encompassed 1 000 packs of Zapnax, 1 000 units of bottled mineral water and 1 000 packs of 2kg biscuits to the more than 900 flood victims who are temporarily housed in overcrowded tents at Sipepa, in Tsholotsho. MDC-T spokesperson, Obert Gutu said:

It’s a mockery and an insult to the people of Tsholotsho. Mugabe spent $2,5 million on his birthday bash in Matobo a few weeks ago but doesn’t have the common decency and morality of, at the very least, spending a similar amount of money on flood victims.

Civic leader Maureen Kademaunga said it was “embarrassing” for Mugabe to have made the donations which characterised him as being “out of sync” with the problems of the displaced people of Tsholotsho.

“It was vulgar to donate Zapnax and bottled water to distressed people whose homes were destroyed and don’t have food and clothes,” Kademaunga told the Daily News.

“If you are to make comparisons between the extravagant celebrations of his birthday and the donations he has made, it’s quite clear that he is failing to attach meaning to tragedy and he has absolutely no regard for ordinary people’s lives and that’s quite regrettable.

“Under a functional political system, our people would not be subjected to this mockery by a self-centred leader whose sense of service is simply non-existent.

“The crisis in this country is real. It is not a manufactured crisis but a real leadership crisis which we must correct like yesterday,” she added.

Political analyst Dewa Mavinga also tore into Mugabe for his donations.

“Surely, for flood victims Zapnax and biscuits are not the most important things they need. The president should have visited the flood victims to consult them about their most urgent needs.

“This is symbolic of what is wrong with Zimbabwe and the government. He is totally out of touch with reality and the needs of the people,” Mavhinga said.

“It is shocking that the head of State can donate such worthless things. To begin with these items are not even necessities or essentials.

“Just a few weeks back, we saw how the ruling party converged to celebrate the birthday of the president … imagine if all the money that was wasted on that birthday had been directed to these flood victims.

“The donated items reveal the extent to which our rulers are divorced from the reality on the ground and the needs of the people,” another political analyst, Gladys Hlatywayo, weighed in.

Chihuri Dismisses Cop Injured While At Work

By Staff Reporter| A former Inspector in the Zimbabwe Republic Police formerly stationed at Western Commonage police station in Bulawayo was on the 13th of February 2017 dismissed from work for allegedly deserting from the police service.

This was despite the fact that the former cop is battling a life threatening liver ailment sustained from a road accident while on duty.

The officer was fired after he was declared a deserter at a time he was on sick no duty.

His bosses had been fully advised by Bulawayo camp hospital that the officer was recovering at home at Ross camp but Chihuri went on to dismiss him from duty. An official memo seen by ZimEye dated 11th August 2016, shows that Inspector Muza, (040571Y), ZRP Nyamapanda was declared off duty due to poor health.

The latest police records show that Insp Muza has since been dismissed from work.

Most police officers in Bulawayo who are privy to the former cop’s predicament are no longer willing to risk their lives while on duty fearing the same treatment the cop is facing.

Police spokeswoman Charity Charamba was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.

Zim Teenage Girls Most Fertile On African Continent

Zimbabwe has the highest teenage fertility rate in sub Saharan Africa. A national study has revealed that one in every 10 girls, aged between 15 to 19 years falls pregnant every year. Cultural and religious practices are being blamed.

The release of a shocking report has found that Zimbabwe records between 500 000 and 700 000 pregnancies annually. The report has also shown that almost a fifth of the pregnancies in this group are due to early child marriage.

Zimbabwe’s fertility is recorded to be twice as high in rural areas as opposed to those living in urban areas. Another concerning factor is the high rate of women dying while giving birth.

In 2016 government recorded that 514 women died while bringing in new life.

“This therefore requires our urgent attention as teenage pregnancy severely curtails girls and young women’s opportunity and hinders their ability to reach their full potential. A young adolescent girl can be an asset for her country if she is not married off during her childhood, if she is not forced to leave school or exposed to an unplanned pregnancy that puts her to high risk of illness, “says the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)’s Zimbabwe Representative Cheikh Cisse.

According to the UNFPA, every day in developing countries, 20 000 young girls under 18 give birth. This amounts to 7.3 million births a year. Southern Africa has the highest level of adolescent pregnancy. It is estimated at 101 births per 1000 woman.

Cisse says teenage pregnancy remains a major challenge around the world.

“Throughout the world pregnancy remains a challenge to young people. Adolescent pregnancy is a major contributor to maternal and child mortality and to the vicious cycle of ill health and poverty. “

Zimbabwe’s health ministry has since called on traditional leaders to respect the country’s laws and move away from some cultural practices that marry off young girls. – SABC

Tsvangirai Gives Up On Chihuri

THE MDC T says it has long given up on reporting attacks by their Zanu PF rivals to the police insisting the law enforcement agents have shown little enthusiasm to prosecute President Robert Mugabe’s followers.
Seven MDC-T youths in Harare were left hospitalised weekend for injuries sustained during attacks by Zanu PF youths during the party’s ongoing door-to-door campaign.
But still, MDC-T youth organising secretary, Denford Ngadziore said they will not report the attacks.
“We have not reported the matter to the police because they will not do anything about it.
“It is as if the police belong to a certain group of people,” he said.
Ngadziore accused Highfields West legislator Psychology Mazivisa of instigating the violence.
“I can confirm that seven MDC-T youths were injured and hospitalised in Highfields over the weekend.
“The information we gathered is that Highfields West MP Psychology Maziwisa bussed people from Mbare who attacked the MDC-T youths,” Ngadziore said.
Zimbabwean police have often been accused of being partisan towards President Mugabe’s party.
Police Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri is an avowed Zanu PF supporter and is often seen together with other service chiefs at some Zanu PF gatherings such as the party’s annual people’s conferences and President Mugabe’s birthday celebrations.
According to the Zimbabwe Peace Project monthly reports on politically motivated violations, the MDC-T often tops the lists of political violence victims while Zanu PF has top the perpetrators list.
Police have often been accused of overzealous pursuit of cases in which Zanu PF supporters fall victim to attacks by rivals, albeit on rare occasions.
Meanwhile, Ngadziore has vowed the attacks by their rivals will not deter the youths from going ahead with the fresh campaigns which aim to lure more support for the main opposition ahead of next year’s harmonised elections.
“This will not stop us; we are definitely going to continue. It is an ongoing programme which will take place every Saturday and Sunday,” he said.
MDC-T rolled out a door to door mobilising campaign as it seeks to target one million voters.

Horror Death: Woman Killed For Shaving Pubic Hair

A Chipinge woman has been hacked to death with a machete for shaving her pubic hair without her husband’s consent.

Now Kudzai Ndongwa (35) of Mbeure Village under Chief Musikavanhu, Chipinge has been convicted by High Court Judge, Charles Hungwe of murder. He was slapped with a 25-year jail term.

Justice Hungwe condemned Ndongwa for being ruthless towards his wife and cutting her life short in cold blood.

He said: “The matter constitutes the worst case scenario of domestic violence at a time where we are fighting day and night against such violent acts.

“It has been proved beyond reasonable doubt that the deceased had not provoked you in any way, but you went ahead and murdered her. As your wife and dependant, your main duty was to protect her, but you acted otherwise and killed her in cold blood and therefore you deserve an even stiffer jail term.”

In his defence, however, Ndongwa told the court that his wife’s action was taboo in their culture and that she had to get his nod before shaving off her pubic hair.

“I did not intentionally kill her My Lord. My main aim was to discipline her as she had disrespected me by shaving off what belonged to both of us. Instead of asking for permission, she went ahead and shaved off the pubic hair behind my back. This angered me.

“I, however, do not know what happened next as I was no longer myself after I begun assaulting her. It might not have been me who committed the heinous crime because up to now I do not remember how everything happened. I was not in my normal senses,” he defended himself.

The State led by Mrs Jane-Rose Matsikidze alleged that on April 3, 2016, Ndongwe who was in his bedroom hut, noticed the late Tendekai Mabika burying something in a disused pit within their homestead.

After Mabika had left the pit, Ndongwe went to check on what had been thrown away by his wife. He concluded that the buried plastic bag contained what seemed like human hair.

The angry Ndongwa then confronted his wife on why she had shaved without his consent and even went further to throw away the pubic hair secretly. This led to a heated argument between the couple.

Mabika is alleged to have asked Ndongwa on whether he was labelling her witch, thereby making the latter much angry.

Ndongwa went back into his bedroom hut and came back armed with a machete.

In the middle of the heated argument, Ndongwa struck Mabika with the machete. Mabika took to her heels, but Ndongwa was in hot pursuit.

Ndongwa struck her on the head, chest and neck multiple times with the machete. After committing the heinous offence, Ndongwa went and changed his blood-stained clothes and hid the machete.

German Donor Rescues Zim Parliament

By Staff Reporter A Germany based organization, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, (KAS), has pledged to give technical support to the Parliament of Zimbabwe, by inviting regional and international intellectuals to engage with local law makers in various political and economic discourses which inform legislative processes.

The intellectual capacity of some of the current local Members of Parliament is questionable as evidenced by the ill-informed discussions and debates they engage in, in parliament.

The poor quality of parliamentary debates is exacerbated by lack of stipulated minimum qualifications required for one to become a law maker.

Emerging from his closed door meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, at his government offices at the weekend, KAS director, David Mbae, said they intended to strengthen the intellectual capacity of Zimbabwe MPs.

“ The most important part is working on capacity building of Parliament portfolio committees  and briefing members of parliament on several issues , for example bringing in local experts ,regional experts and even  people from Germany ,where we as an organization come from , bringing them in order to brief local legislators on questions that they might need in order to put the right legislation in place  and be informed and also inform their constituencies and communities about issues that affect them,” said Mbae.

Mbae, said they were also interested in intensifying climate change awareness campaign programmes , which   most communities in Zimbabwe were  yet to get a full appreciation of.

“ We are looking at sustainable development issues which make the country’s economy blossom  and  my meeting with the speaker of parliament was focused on our cooperation  we are trying to have with parliament and portfolio committees   on several issues,” said Mbae.

ANC Wants Malema Back

The ANC Youth League supports the party’s Mpumalanga chairman David Mabuza’s position that EFF leader Julius Malema should be brought back to the governing party.

ANCYL leader Collen Maine told Sowetan that people who were expelled from the ANC, including Malema, must come back.

“The ANC is a home for everybody. We need each other in the ANC. The ANC is a big elephant, but if many people leave, the elephant will collapse. We must do everything in our power to prevent the elephant from collapsing,” Maine said.

“If bringing [back] people who were expelled will assist the ANC, let us bring them back.”

This comes after Mabuza told the ANCYL provincial general council in Mbombela at the weekend that the ANC was weaker without Malema.

Mabuza, a close ally of President Jacob Zuma, also said he was considering bringing Malema back into the ANC.

But the EFF will have none of this. EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi described the remarks by Mabuza as a “selfish attempt to raise his profile and make news”.

“Mabuza, who represents nothing ideologically, has taken a decision to use the name of the CIC [commander-in-chief] in his campaign towards the ANC conference,” Ndlozi said yesterday.

“We know for sure that he does not mean any of the things he is saying, just like those in the ANC who are talking about land. They are all claiming that they believe in land expropriation without compensation, but we are not fooled because they only use this to gain public attention for their aims to take over the ANC.”

Mabuza is reported to have ambitions to become the ANC deputy president when the party holds its national elective conference in December.

Ndlozi said Malema would never be recruited into any political formation by a “kleptocrat” like Mabuza.

“DD Mabuza represents everything that is wrong with the ruling party,” Ndlozi said.

Malema was ANCYL leader before he was expelled from the ANC in 2012. Sowetan

Cops Arrest Woman Who Stole Baby In South Africa

A CHITUNGWIZA woman allegedly stole a baby in Pretoria, South Africa where she was employed as a maid before misleading her Zimbabwean based boyfriend that she had just given birth.

Sarudzai Mutingondo, 33, was nabbed by police in Chitungwiza’s St Marys on Saturday and is currently in police cells as she waits to appear in court.

According to a source, Sarudzai stole the baby in October 2016 in Pretoria before escaping to Zimbabwe where she lied to her boyfriend that she had given birth while in South Africa. The baby’s real mother is believed to be a Zimbabwean from Masvingo.

Sarudzai is said to have been pregnant when she left Zimbabwe for South Africa last year but had a miscarriage, which she presumably didn’t inform the boyfriend about.

The 33-year-old is said to had got a job in Pretoria where she worked as a maid and when her employer left her with the baby, she took advantage and escaped with the baby to Zimbabwe.

Sources suspect that the baby is about 10-months-old as Sarudzai does not know the exact age of the child.

“Sarudzai was left with the baby by her employer in Pretoria before she stole the baby and escaped back to Zimbabwe. She brought the baby to her boyfriend and they have been living with the baby as theirs since October.

“It was just recently when we heard that she was on the run in South Africa for stealing the baby. She was picked by police on Saturday,” a source said.

Sources added that Sarudzai had been handed over to the Harare Central Police’s Law and Order from Chitungwiza and she is set to appear in court. – State Media

Mugabe Never Stopped Rigging Elections

Nomusa Garikayi Tsvangirai has admitted that Zanu PF has already started the process of rigging the 2018 elections. Started! When did they ever stop?

“Tsvangirai said the national executive resolved that the MDC-T, together other parties, would “utilize all legitimate and constitutionally permissible avenues at our disposal to stop this daylight theft”’, reported New Zimbabwe.

“Whether in the courts or in the streets, we shall fight all attempts to steal the next election and we fully endorse the resolution that we took with others under the banner of NERA to mobilize Zimbabweans for a public protest on the 22nd of March! Indeed, come hail come high water, we will do all we can to stem the subversion of the people’s will,” vowed the former Prime Minister.
This is all Tsvangirai grandstanding and posturing. MDC had the golden opportunity to implement all the democratic reforms during the GNU and they failed to get even one reform implemented then. SADC leaders did their best to warn Tsvangirai & co. to implement the reforms and the folly of contesting the 2013 elections with no reforms in place. Sadly, MDC leaders had candle wax in their ears and so would not hear. Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of power and a $4 million mansion for Tsvangirai; this is the most effective candle wax there is and Mugabe knows it only too well because that is the same wax he had been using to buy the blind loyalty of his own Zanu PF cronies and minions!

Tsvangirai failed to get even one democratic reform implemented in five years of the GNU when MDC have the golden opportunity to do so; MDC had the majority in parliament and cabinet, Mugabe had his hands tied behind his back after signing the GPA and had SADC leaders egging MDC on. If MDC failed to get even one reform implemented then, there was no way Tsvangirai was ever going to get any reforms implemented post the GNU when Zanu PF was back in the driving seat!

All Tsvangirai has been doing since the rigged July 2013 elections is make a big song and dance about implementing reforms but knowing fully well he will never get any reforms implemented. MDC are determined to contest the next elections even though no reforms have been implement, the speeches and demos are only a public gimmick to cover up the party’s failure to get any reforms implemented.

The people of Zimbabwe must wise-up to the political reality that Tsvangirai wasted the golden opportunity to implement the reforms during the GNU and will never ever get any of the reforms implemented now or ever! So, if we want free, fair and credible elections it is now up to us, the people, to make sure there will be no elections until the reform are implemented; no if or but.

MDC vowed that the 2013 elections would be free and fair and we learnt too late that it was all hot air! We must not allow MDC to mislead us once again on this matter. We must force MDC to honour their “No reform, no election!” 2014 party congress resolution.

“Indeed, come hail come high water, we will NOT CONTEST FLAWED ELECTIONS DESIGNED TO UNDERMINE the people’s will,” to paraphrase him, is the only thing we want to hear from Tsvangirai! Anything else, is just the usual blast of hot air!

Shocker After Mum Chops Toddler’s ‘Big’ Manhood To Size

A two-year-old boy has been admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo after his mother, who is a psychiatric patient, allegedly chopped off his manhood.
The woman from Magwegwe North suburb, who cannot be named for ethical reasons, was alleging that her son’s privates were too big for his age.

The baby was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he has been admitted for the past two months.

Authorities are reportedly now looking for a Children’s Home where he will be taken to when he is discharged.

A family member who spoke on condition of anonymity said the baby’s mother was taken to Ingutsheni Central Hospital following the incident.

“We were shocked when we heard that she had cut her son’s privates. Neighbours said she called them screaming for help after chopping the manhood which she described as too big for his age,”she said.

“We’re equally shocked and sad that the boy will live without his manhood for the rest of his life. It was a traumatic incident and we hope both him and the mother will recover.”

She said a police report was made.

Mpilo acting clinical director Dr Xolani Ndlovu said: “I’m sorry I’m not in a position to confirm or deny if there is indeed such a patient as it involves a minor.”

A nurse who spoke on condition of anonymity said the child had suffered a traumatic amputation.

“This child came here sometime in January and we didn’t see the piece of the cut manhood. We have been treating and nursing him since then as his mother had to be taken to Ingutsheni Central Hospital. She had become a hazard to the child and other patients as she exhibited violent tendencies,” said the nurse. -State Media

Why I’m Introducing Muslim Studies – Dokora | VIDEO

PRIMARY and Secondary Education minister Lazarus Dokora yesterday defended the introduction of Muslim and Buddhism studies in the new education curriculum, arguing this would not result in learners being converted to these religions.

Dokora told legislators after a thorough grilling that the idea was to get children to appreciate other religions and understand how they function and exist in the world. “The responsibility of preaching is for pastors, not for teachers. Pastors are responsible of preaching and converting people to their religions, not my teachers,” Dokora said.

“You are responsible for taking your kids to church. You are responsible for converting them to different religions, not my teachers, they are teachers, not preachers.”
Dokora’s deputy Paul Mavhima weighed in, saying: “Just like we teach different cultures, we are also teaching different religions so that our children can understand different religions without asking them to convert to any other religion because we are not pastors.”

Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda urged Parliamentarians to organise fundraising projects in areas that they represent and channel the resources to educational development.

“Teachers must have a good attitude and should be able to teach children in their local languages so that they can understand. As MPs, I also urge you to do fundraising programmes to assist school development committees and the ministry. You should also attend open days for your schools so that you can appreciate the nature of challenges that they have,” Mudenda said.

Dokora has come under fire over allegations he wanted to clandestinely have Zimbabwe declared a Muslim State with even President Robert Mugabe revealing he had quizzed the Cabinet minister over the issue.

Mugabe went further to reveal Dokora now carries the moniker “Ayatollah” after Iran’s former supreme leader.

The Education minister has consistently argued that his plan is to align Zimbabwe’s education system with contemporary global trends. -Newsday

Skin-Bleaching-Creams: Women Want To Be White And Be Europeans Including Mrs Tsvangirai!

fireblast…Nomazulu Thata

Nomazulu Thatha Ms. Belinda Chowa: you are a star in the face of absolute ignorance. I read your article on Bulawayo 24 in disbelief: are there still women out there who are role models to our young growing girls. I loved your article Madam; I hope you keep the work going in sensitizing our women regarding the white bleaching of their faces and sometimes chemical-treating their hair to be like Europeans.

Skin-bleaching is actually removing the black pigment in your skin. Some even take in as capsules orally so that this pigment removes the whole body. Ms. Chowa rightly put it well, and it is scientifically proven that in these creams there are traces of mercury, an element that is hazardous to health, indeed it causes kidney failure in most cases. We thank you for this very articulated article and very educative indeed. We hope that you continue educating us in many aspect of women’s health.

Skin-bleaching creams are a multi billion industry and the women who use these creams are from South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria and the wave is slowly coming to the shores of Zimbabwe. It is appalling to see role models like Mrs Elizabeth Tsvangirai in total denial of herself. At the early time of her marriage to the former Prime Minister Richard Morgan Tsvangirai: she was used to wearing Indian Saris in political rallies? Sure, Saris from India and she is wife the “Can be President of Zimbabwe” any time now! What precedence is she giving to the growing girls of Zimbabwe? She is abnormally white, and her hair is European hair? Do we really need to go so low as to deny ourselves in that absoluteness? Ms. Chowa puts it well: better than I will put it on paper. We women do have a low self-esteem.

When the Black Americans said: “Say it loud; I am black and proud” they were trying to tell the black population that we should be proud of what we are: black naturally skin and kinky hair given by god as it is: Our hair is kinky can’t we be satisfied with that? Our skin is black: can’t we satisfy with that? We have thousands of African material from Nigeria till South Africa: did we need to wear an Indian Sari to be conspicuously different from all of us women? We make ourselves a laughing stock in this global village. There are news media we read: in Europe and many other places that actually mock Africans for their outright self denial of their colour-skin! Industries take advantage of this stupidity of Africans and make billions of dollars: because they know a black woman can do anything to get her skin white. An African loathes her/his skin evidently.

Coming back to Mrs. Elizabeth Tsvangirai: her husband is so black, black and beautiful in his own right, what makes his wife go out of her way to bleach so much that it obvious to all that her whiteness is wholly artificial and not worth admiring at all because a naturally light-skinned person is attractive in as much as a naturally black shined person. Is Mrs.Tsvangirai saying to her husband: “Nutten-Black nun- Good!” These bleaching skin-lightening creams: present in the composition is Mercury and Hydroquinone. Hydroquinone actually kills the skin-cells and this is non-repairable because the cell- making melanolyte will have permanently died: this may also cause skin cancer and many other diseases we are not aware of: because these creams are consumed in developing countries, whose deaths are not comprehensively researched due to un availability of finds.

The madness of skin-lighting use is intertwined with detrimental effects not only on health as we have seen but the question of identity, self-image, race-supremacy and absolute colonial mentality. There is a common concern about yearning for beauty: beauty of the skin that must be white like a European, beauty of your dressing: iffi wear aa Sari, I will different from everybody else around me, if I wear a European wig or treating ones hair to that of a white person I will be beautiful. Such problems are a serious problems of nations in Africa. We need to address physical, mental slavery, symbolic remnants of light-skinned superiority and the notion that dark skin is inferior. This must be done at national level: now I do not see how we in Zimbabwe can achieve that because our future first Lady, Mrs. Tsvangirai is in deep denial: her artificial face- skin-bleached, her European wig, her Sari dressing had died down thanks to those to told her about this Sari dressing in rallies. Is Mrs, Tsvangirai the face of a Zimbabwean woman or the mixture of a British hair/Indian Sari attires?

There is not much to say what Ms. Belinda Chowa has not highlighted already in her today’s article. I did not need to repeat what she has already said in her beautiful article that was spot on. We need 10 more of Belinda Chowas in our socities. We are deeply concerned about the message Mrs. Tsvangirai is putting across to younger generations.

BLACK OUT: Zim Seeks New Eskom Electricity Deal

Zimbabwe is negotiationg a new deal to continue importing power from South African utility Eskom to make up for shortfalls in generating capacity at its Kariba hydropower station, the energy minister said on Monday.

In January last year Eskom agreed a one-year deal to sell up to 300 megawatts of capacity to Zimbabwe, which was facing biting shortages of electricity caused by low water levels in the Kariba dam. Generation capacity fell to a low of 275 MW from 750 MW, causing widespread blackouts.

Samuel Undenge told reporters after a meeting between Eskom and state power utility ZESA Holdings that the two utilities were still discussing how much Eskom would supply to Zimbabwe, adding that imports would be paid for upfront.

“I don’t want load shedding (scheduled power cuts) to return and we have been assured of continued support from Eskom so that we continue to have the country supplied with power,” he said.

Officials from Eskom and ZESA did not comment.

Undenge said customers should pay their bills to ZESA, to enable the company to settle its Eskom debt, which stood at $40 million at the end of February.

ZESA is owed $1 billion in unpaid bills by customers, including government departments.

Chimene Caught In Another Scam – Steals From Teachers

Headmasters and teachers in Chimanimani district are being forced to pay $1 and $2 each as donations towards a belated party for civil servants in the district.

NewsDay is reliably informed that the party, which was slated for last Saturday, has been postponed to a date that is yet to be announced.

In a memo circulated to schools, Chimanimani acting district administrator Taona Nengomasha said their donations would make the event a success.

‘’The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Honourable (Mandiitawepi) Chimene, is holding a civil servants’ end-of-year party on March 11, 2017 at Chimanimani Hotel, where she intends to meet and discuss with representatives of various government departments, companies, businesspeople, traditional leaders and non-governmental organisations,’’ part of the memo read.

“It is against (sic) the above belated function that my committee has found it modest that each school head in the district should donate $2 each and $1 each for every teacher that would go a long way in making the event a success.”

Nengomasha was not available for comment as his mobile phone went unanswered, but acting provincial administrator Edgar Seenza said the meeting had been postponed until further notice.

“What I understand is that the meeting has been shelved because of other commitments, we will be advised on the new date,’’ Seenza said.

Zimbabwe Rural Teachers’ Union president Martin Chaburumunda said teachers and headmasters should not be forced to pay donations.

“It’s not fair to force someone to pay money, they should do so willingly, we always educate our members that they should not be forced to pay money,’’ he said. -Newsday

Nkomo Honoured, Family Plans $USD I Million Bash

FORMER Vice-President and revered nationalist the late Joshua Nkomo’s family is planning to celebrate the centenary of his birth in June this year, adding they are looking at raising $1 million for the bash.

Plans for Nkomo’s bash come just weeks after President Robert Mugabe and his party faithfuls invaded Matobo to celebrate the Zanu PF leader’s 93rd anniversary.

Nkomo was born on June 17 1917 and died on July 1, 1999. He would have turned 100 this year. Later to become VP, Nkomo led successive nationalist movements that opposed racist settler rule in the then Rhodesia, before taking part in the first all-race election in 1980, as leader of Zapu. He, however, lost the watershed poll to Zanu PF’s President Mugabe. The nationalist leader’s sister Regina Nkomo-Moyo said the former VP’s legacy lives on.“June 17, 2017, will mark the 100th birthday of this African leader who worked tirelessly on behalf of the people of Zimbabwe. While he is not with us, in body, his legacy remains,” Nkomo-Moyo said.

“It is through his legacy that we aim to touch the hearts and minds of people throughout the world. We must ensure that the cultural importance of his fight for freedom and his love for the people of Zimbabwe lives on and is never forgotten.”

Nkomo-Moyo said affectionately known “Father Zimbabwe” Nkomo lived and breathed for the rights of the people of Zimbabwe.

“His family, friends and peace-loving people of Southern Africa would like to celebrate this illustrious man’s life and legacy. The Nkomo family through a family led cultural organisation called: The Joshua Nkomo Cultural Movement is inviting 100 000 across the Southern African region and beyond to come and celebrate this legend’s life,” Nkomo-Moyo said.

She asked for well-wishers to help in raising the $1 million required for logistics to host the event, including promotion, provide transportation, accommodations, food, and entertainment for attendees, repair and grading the 50km of the road leading to the venue among other things.

GUKURAHUNDI KILLINGS: Mujuru In Shock U-Turn

FORMER Vice-President and opposition National People’s Party (NPP) leader Joice Mujuru has admitted to literally lying when she denied she had no knowledge of government’s Gukurahundi atrocities in the early years of independence.

The late General Solomon Mujuru

The opposition leader also indicated that she will reverse all adverse Zanu PF economic policies, including the Indigenisation Act, but denied looting diamonds when she was President Robert Mugabe’s number two.

Mujuru, in several interviews previously, has claimed Mugabe had clandestinely had a crack “Zezuru-only” brigade trained by North Koreans behind the back of members of his Cabinet. The campaign by the elite unit reportedly left over 20 000 civilians dead under the guise of hunting down a handful of armed dissidents.

But Mugabe’s ex-number two was yesterday forced into a spectacular and embarrassing volte-face during an interview on the BBC’s HARDTalk programme with anchor Stephen Sucker.

“Let’s look at the record, you were a minister during the massacres of thousands of people, Gukurahundi, Matabeleland people killed, you knew it, you knew it, but you did not say a word against it,” Sucker queried.

In response, Mujuru sheepishly retorted: “I did not say a word against it, but those were executive orders that were used by the Fifth Brigade. With an executive person, what else would you do?”

But her interlocutor accused her of “not making any sense” by having worked for the same man (Mugabe) she suspected or knew was behind the death of her husband Retired General Solomon Mujuru (pictured).

Just a few days ago, Mujuru claimed Mugabe had sole control over the 5 Brigade such that even her late

husband Solomon, who was head of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces at the time, was in the dark. The opposition leader also claimed during a meeting with women in the Diaspora that Mugabe had ordered former army colonel Beta Guveya to “recruit a Zezurus-only brigade from Zvimba”, the President’s rural home.

Mujuru this week also told her audience in London that when she visited Matabeleland during the disturbances, she had a vehicle breakdown and only got to know lately that she had been assisted by “dissidents”.

The former VP told Sucker she was against the destruction of urban settlements by government in 2005. – Newsday

Mujuru and Pastor Mawarire To Unite?

Mawarire is part of the group – Mujuru

Former Vice President Joice Mujuru has indicated that she is working on a possible coalition with #ThisFlag pastor Evan Mawarire.

“Right now those are the issues that we are discussing… we have a lot that we have put on the table,” Mujuru told the UK based Newsweek publication. “We have a memorandum of understanding roadmap that we are planning to sign very soon,” she added.

Mawarire, a pastor based in the capital Harare, shot to prominence in April 2016 after posting a video lamenting the current state of Zimbabwe’s economy while draped in the national flag. Following Mawarire’s video, the hashtag #ThisFlag became a touchstone for anti-government sentiment in Zimbabwe. The pastor also organized a national stay-at-home strike in July 2016.

Mujuru said she is not simply offering a “rehashed version” of ZANU-PF politics.

“The Zimbabwean people have known me for a long time, from the days when I was the youngest minister. They know exactly how I’ve been relating to issues that affect their daily lives,” she says. “They are seeing that it’s now my time, it’s now my chance. Because before, I’ve been subservient to lots of leaderships. But now that I will be the leader in my own right, surely… they think something better will come out of it.

Mawarire’s growing popularity has led to calls by citizens for him to run for the presidency in 2018. Mawarire has not declared himself a candidate, but in a June 2016 interview he told Newsweek that his movement aimed to bring about political change. He has recently indicated he would be willing to run “if the need arises.”

According to Mujuru, it will be difficult for Mawarire to make any impact in the election without a political party behind him. “Mawarire’s network is not all over the country. He is just capturing those who are on social media, and that’s not the rest of Zimbabwe,” she says. But Mujuru says she would be open to collaboration. “I’ve no problem. He’s a democrat, we are all working for the same results, so he’s part of the group. He’s part of us,” says Mujuru. Only 16.4 out of 100 Zimbabweans are regular internet users, according to the World Bank.

Newsweek attempted to contact Mawarire for comment, but received no immediate reply.

Mujuru fought in Zimbabwe’s war for independence and was a government minister for ZANU-PF for more than 30 years. She became vice president in 2004 and was a close ally of Mugabe’s, previously describing herself as his “daughter.”

But Mujuru fell out of favor with the president in late 2014 after Mugabe’s wife, Grace, accused her of plotting to overthrow her husband. Mugabe expelled her from ZANU-PF in December 2014, accusing her of leading a “treacherous cabal” within the party. But Mujuru denied the accusations and said her loyalty to Mugabe was “unquestionable.”

In 2016, Mujuru launched her own political party, Zimbabwe People First, to rival ZANU-PF. But internal squabbles in recent months have led Mujuru to rebrand the party as the National People’s Party and abandon some original members of Zimbabwe People First.

ZimSec Exam Chaos

A section of parents in Bulawayo have expressed concern over the limited time they were given to pay for November public examinations saying they were not given adequate time to raise the required fees considering the prevailing economic situation.

Parents who spoke to the state media said some schools notified them with two weeks left before the closing date for registration. Said Mrs Thobekile Dube:

I think it’s unfair. Normally when registration opens, it would be announced when there is ample time to look for money but now I only saw my child coming with a school form indicating the subjects they are registering. I’ve another A-Level student who must register. It’s hard for us, we need time.

Mr Isaiah Mandaza said his Upper Sixth Form child came home telling him about the deadline on the first of this month and he has to look for funds to hurriedly pay. Parents also said they were not aware of Zimsec’s two-year payment plan for examinations. However, Zimsec Public Relations Officer Ms Nicholette Dhlamini said parents were given ample time to pay for exam registration. Dhlamini said Zimsec only announced deadlines to exam centres and not to parents and it was up to the centres to give parents a deadline to pay.

Most of them professed ignorance over Zimsec’s two-year payment plan for examinations.

Zimsec Public Relations Officer Ms Nicholette Dhlamini said parents were given ample time to pay for exam registration.

She said Zimsec only announced deadlines to exam centres and not to parents and it was up to the centres to give parents a deadline to pay. “Two years ago we announced in the newspapers that a parent can now pay for their exam sitting pupil a year before the exam.

For example a parent can pay for their Grade Seven child when they are in Grade Six, giving them two years to pay exam fees, the same for O and A-Levels,” said Ms Dhlamini.

“Schools have different deadlines for examinations for administrative purposes. If schools don’t meet the deadlines we fine them.”

A headmistress who spoke on condition of anonymity said parents preferred to pay at the last minute forcing schools to come up with earlier deadlines.

“The plan by Zimsec is working well in primary schools where parents are told to pay a $1 or two for their Grade Seven examinations starting when the pupils are in Grade Six but in high school they want to pay during the last month,” said the headmistress. “The Zimsec deadline is March 30 but we are sticking to March 17 for A Levels and March 27 for Ordinary level because we will be trying to avoid last minute rushes. If you come and check on March 28 and 29 there will be people who will still be negotiating for an extension of the date.”

Zimbabwe Teachers Association Chief executive officer Mr Sifiso Ndlovu encouraged parents to look for money to ensure that their children sit for examinations.

“It’s the right thing to pay on time and everybody will be ready for examinations,” said Mr Ndlovu.

The June registration period closed last month.

Cuthbert Dube Loses $3.5 Million Cash

Former Premier Service Medical Aid Society (PSMAS) chief executive Dr Cuthbert Dube, has lost a $3,5million cash award.

The Labour Court has quashed a $3,5 million arbitral award granted to Dube after he had earlier won a contractual dispute with the society.

Dr Dube won the $3,5 million arbitral award against the medical aid society in April 2015, entitling him to monthly salary and benefits backdated to January 2014.

He won the money in two arbitral awards, one against Premier Service Medical Investment (PSMI), a subsidiary of PSMAS, for $2 070 000 and the other against PSMAS for $1 380 000, bringing his total claims to $3 450 000.

But Dr Dube’s hopes for the rich pickings were damned after the Labour Court on Friday set aside the two arbitral awards.

Mrs Euna Makamure, sitting with Mrs Betty Chidziva, ruled that there was merit in the PSMAS and PSMI challenges and granted the appeal.

“In my view, in the two appeals, the respective arbitral awards are to be set aside,” said Mrs Makamure. “Accordingly, it is ordered that the arbitral award is each case be and is hereby set aside and substituted with the following — ‘the claimant’s (Dr Dube) claim is hereby dismissed’.”

Dr Dube was fired in January 2014 for awarding himself a hefty salary of $92 000 excluding other benefits from the group, and another $43 000 plus benefits from the subsidiary — PSMI.

After getting paid his allowances by both entities, Dr Dube would take home as much as $500 000 per month.

The two appeals were dealt with in one hearing because PSMAS and PMSI are closely related and the grounds of appeal were largely similar.

The appeals arose from the determinations made by arbitrator Mr Don Moyo.

Dr Dube had a written contract of employment with PSMAS, where he was the chief executive, drawing a salary of $92 000 per month.

He reached retirement age and was stopped from work, but the parties failed to agree on the contract, prompting the matter to be referred for arbitration.

Mr Moyo had to determine whether or not Dr Dube’s contract of employment was lawfully terminated, if not, what was the appropriate remedy?

He ruled in favour and ordered PSMAS to pay Dr Dube all his salary arrears at the given rate per month and benefits from the date he was last paid.

Mrs Makamure said Mr Moyo was called upon to decide whether the termination of contract was lawful or not, which he did not do.

“The learned arbitrator by making a finding that there was still a contract in existence between the parties, effectively made a new contract of employment between the parties,” she said.

“Making contracts for parties is not the duty of an adjudicating authority. An adjudicating authority deals with disputes arising from contracts or indeed interprets the terms of contracts where parties need interpretation of the terms of thereof in the context of disputes between them. They do not make contracts for parties.”

Mrs Makamure said there was no longer any binding contract between PSMAS and Dr Dube.

She said had Mr Moyo found that the contract had not been lawfully terminated, the appropriate remedy would then lie on whether to reinstate or make another order.

On PSMI, Mrs Makamure ruled that it was wrong to insinuate that Dr Dube’s contract of employment was enforceable against the firm.

She said the board, which was acting, extended Dr Dube’s contract for a 10-year period, but the same board reversed its decision.

“The position, therefore, is that the respondent’s contract was terminated upon him reaching retirement age,” she said.

Dr Dube, Mrs Makamure said, had no contract with PSMI.

Advocate Fadzayi Mahere instructed by Mr James Chikobvu Muzangaza argued the matter for PSMAS and PSMI, while Mr Jonathan Samukange of Venturas and Samukange acted for Dr Dube. -state media

Mujuru Attacked

Former Vice President Joice Mujuru has been attacked for announcing that she will repeal the Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act.

Speaking during a BBC’s HardTalk, Mujuru said she will repeal it because it is not investor friendly and that she would compensate white farmers as had been agreed in the Lancashire House Agreement if voted into power.

“We are going to repeal it (Indigenisation Act) because we are for investment. We want investors both local and international to come and help us as we are rebuilding the economy.

Mujuru also said she will lead the compensating of former white farm owners. She said:

(There will be) fair compensation, there is law to that. We are for constitutionalism. The Constitution has to be followed, property rights have to be respected.

Responding in the state media Lands Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora said the land reform was final and irreversible as endorsed in the Constitution unless someone amends that.

He added saying the Zanu PF Government was already compensating white farmers using Section 295 of the Constitution. Industry Minister Mike Bimha said that Mujuru’s statement was empty as any country that has gone through colonisation was carrying out an indigenisation programme. Elton Ziki, a political analyst contacted by the state media said Mujuru’s comments were against the principles of the liberation struggle.

He Raped Me While My Baby Watched

A Harare man raped his friend’s sister in his car after offering her a lift home on Christmas Day.

Davison Mutizwa (44) raped the 19-year-old woman in his vehicle while her two-year-old son watched. The woman reportedly sustained internal injuries in her privates and bled for two weeks, a medical report revealed.

Mutizwa was yesterday convicted of rape by regional magistrate Ms Lucy Mungwari after a full trial. During the trial, the woman narrated her ordeal and told the court how she bit Mutizwa on his left arm during the scuffle.

“When I was about to get home I handed him 25 cents for the trip since it is the usual fare and he refused it saying it was not enough and he started demanding sexual intercourse instead,” she said.

“I then turned down his request and he suddenly became violent and stopped the vehicle before coming to the back seat where I was sitting. He took my baby from my lap and placed him on the other seat before raping me.”

To substantiate her testimony, the complainant told the court how she bit Mutizwa’s left hand during the scuffle. She then advised the court to check his hand and see if he had a scar.
The State and the defence approached Mutizwa who was in the dock and examined his hand. Both counsels saw the scar the complainant was referring to. The woman also told the court that she was supposed to tie the knot on March 4, but due to Mutizwa’s actions, her husband cancelled the wedding ceremony pending finalisation of the matter.

In his defence, Mutizwa denied the charges saying that he was being wrongly accused.
He added that the woman might have been raped by a fellow passenger who dropped off together with her, a claim that the victim vehemently denied insisting she was the only passenger.

As for the scar on his right hand, Mutizwa told the court that he has always had that scar.
However, Ms Mungwari convicted Mutizwa due to overwhelming evidence adding that the woman was a credible witness.

She remanded Mutizwa in custody to today for sentencing. Prosecutor Mr Ephraim Zinyandu proved that on Christmas Day last year, thewoman went to a Christmas party with her child.

At around midnight she decided to go back home and was accompanied to the bus stop by her brother. The victim’s brother flagged down Mutizwa’s vehicle after recognisinghim and he assured his sister that she would get home safely since he knew Mutizwa.

Mutizwa drove to New Mabvuku where he parked his vehicle and started demanding sexual intercourse as payment for the lift before raping her.

ZRP Cop Forced To Compensate Torture Victim

A Manicaland-based Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer is set to lose a substantial amount of his salary after it was garnished by the court to pay a victim that he brutally tortured over two years ago.

According to the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), which represented the victim, who was an ‘‘A’’ Level student then, the garnish order was granted last Friday.

The organisation said that the police officer Crispen Chikazhe will have $100 deducted from his salary every month, until he manages to pay the full damages of $570.

Chikazhe was accused of having tortured Brighton Sanyanga, then a 19-year-old pupil at Pafiwa High School in Mutasa District in Manicaland Province, following a demonstration that took place at the school.

“Sanyanga, who was an ‘A’ level student …was tortured by Chikazhe who had invited him to Nyanga Police Station to answer allegations of malicious damage to property … after a demonstration allegedly staged by the students.

“Chikazhe, in an effort to extract information from Sanyanga, tortured the student physically by exposing him to electrical shock and psychologically by threatening to kill him,” ZLHR said.

Through his lawyer Peggy Tavagadza from ZLHR, Sanyanga dragged the police officer to court demanding compensation.

“In 2014, after a full trial, the Mutare Magistrates’ Court awarded damages in the sum of $570 to Sanyanga, for torture, pain and suffering, medical expenses and transport costs,” ZLHR said.

However, Chikazhe, who is stationed at Nyanga Police Station, according to ZLHR had reneged on paying the judgment debt, prompting Tavagadza to file an application seeking an order compelling the Salary Services Bureau (SSB) to garnish the police officer’s salary.

In the application, Tavagadza argued that since Chikazhe earns about $380 per month, after the execution of the order, he would be left with a sufficient balance of income to maintain himself and his dependents.

ZLHR has in the past assisted villagers from the same community after being tortured by the police at Nyanga Police Station.

According to ZLHR, in one of the cases, two Nyanga Police Station-based officers only identified as Kapfunde and Kambanje were ordered to pay $3 000 in damages for torturing hotel security guard Tsitsi Chimhutu when they were investigating a break-in at Montclair Hotel last year.

The organisation said that Chimhutu was tortured by the police officers, who were trying to force a confession in a case where $2 500 had gone missing. Daily News

Potholes Kill 3 Family Members In Yet Another Horror Accident

THREE members of the same family died on the spot after they were hit by a commuter omnibus which was travelling in the wrong lane allegedly to avoid potholes in Gweru’s Mkoba suburb.

The accident occurred on Saturday at around 4PM near Vashandiri Study Centre in Mkoba 12.

The commuter omnibus had no passengers at the time of the accident but is said to have been rushing to town since it was peak hour.

Witnesses said the deceased were dragged for about two metres while under the commuter omnibus as the driver tried to speed away from the scene.

The driver later stopped but bolted from the scene leaving his vehicle — a Nissan Caravan.

He later handed himself to the police and is assisting with investigations.

A family spokesperson, Mr Trust Mugovera, identified the deceased as Moreblessing Mharakurwa (20), her daughter Anopaishe Mugovera (1) and sister-in-law Tendai Mugovera (11) who was in Grade Six at Pakame Primary School in Shurugwi.

He said the three were on their way home from a barber shop which is opposite Vashandiri Centre where they had taken Tendai for a haircut.

“We lost three family members over the weekend. They were hit by a commuter omnibus that was rushing to town for passengers. They were walking coming from the barber shop when this commuter omnibus, which was travelling in the wrong lane as the driver was avoiding potholes, hit them. They all died on the spot,” said Mr Mugovera.

He said they were still to come to terms with the sudden death of their relatives.

“What is hurting us the most is the fact that the driver of the vehicle hasn’t shown up to apologise. He ran away leaving the three trapped under his vehicle,” Mr Mugovera said.

He said mourners were gathered at 2870/1 Mkoba 16.

The deceased are expected to be buried today at Mutasa cemetery in Gweru.

Meanwhile, the Gweru City Council director of Engineering Mr Robson Manatsa and some police officers visited the scene of the accident.

Acting Midlands Provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende was not reachable for comment.

Last week, 14 people were killed along the Bulawayo-Gwanda Highway near the National University of Science and Technology and a pothole was blamed for the accident.

25 Killled In Midlands Region Floods

OVER 25 people have been killed by floods that have wreaked havoc in the Midlands Province since the beginning of the rainy season.

Mberengwa, Gokwe North and Gokwe South districts recorded the most deaths in the province, said the Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs Cde Jason Machaya.

Speaking during the donation of blankets and food for over 400 families who were affected by the floods and which were sourced by platinum miner Mimosa Mining Company in Zvishavane last Friday, Cde Machaya said some were killed by lightning.

“To date we have lost over 25 people to flooding since the beginning of the rainy season. However, many deaths occurred in Gokwe North, Gokwe South and Mberengwa.

“These three districts received more rains which saw rivers flooding which killed many people who attempted to cross the flooded rivers. Some were struck by lightning,” said Cde Machaya.

He said the floods left a trail of destruction in the Midlands Province and several families were left homeless.

The Minister said more than 10 bridges were either swept away or extensively damaged. Hundreds of livestock, including goats and chickens as well as the maize crop were swept away too.

He said Government with assistance from non-governmental organisations like the Red Cross and companies like Mimosa Mining Company was now moving in to assist the affected villagers to avert a humanitarian disaster.

EU Envoy Crushes Charamba’s “Mischief” Blat

By Farai Banda| The EU’s top envoy to Zimbabwe, Philippe Van Damme has responded to Presidential spokesman George Charamba’s attacks.

Charamba recently told the state run Herald newspaper that Zimbabwe is “watching” Brussels’ “mischief” meant to influence the outcome of 2018 elections adding the government was “aware” of the West’s “involvement in other areas including fomenting instability in the labour market.”

Responding to the attacks, Van Damme, said Brussels has no agenda to sponsor anarchy in Zimbabwe. He revealed that everything has been done in the open and nothing is hidden.

“We have been criticized and accused of having obscure hidden agendas, but what I can tell you is that we cannot be more transparent than what we did in this call for proposals,” said Ambassador Van Damme.

He continued saying, “This call for proposals was discussed with the government and it was published through the media which also includes one specific component of having an ear- marked funding for inviting CSOs, academia and think tanks to come together and organize their own capacity to monitor what we are also doing in Zimbabwe, in terms of development cooperation,” said Van Damme.

Van Damme added saying even the donors operating in Zimbabwe were subject to scrutiny from the civil society.

“So, it is not only that you hold your government accountable, but we are also inviting you to hold us accountable to what we are doing, and honestly speaking I do not see where we could be more transparent in our objectives and I do not understand where this misunderstanding comes from, and I was upset by how this call for proposals was interpreted,” said Ambassador Van Damme.

Vice President, Emmerson Mnangagwa has flown to Geneva.

Mnangagwa on Monday evening left the country for Switzerland where is to attend a UN Human Rights periodic review meeting.

The state media says he flew off accompanied by a large delegation of government officials.

Zimbabwe is to appear before the UN Human Rights Council for the consideration and adoption of the 2016 human rights review carried out in November last year.

He is accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Mrs Virginia Mabhiza; Principal Director in the Vice President’s Office, Mr Nharo Gwatidzo and other senior government officials.

Soldier Bashes Tsvangirai Supporter

Terrence Mawawa, Chiredzi | An overzealous Zimbabwe National Army soldier severely bashed an MDC supporter for wearing a party t-shirt in public.

Hardlife Makuyana of 5 Brigade in Kwekwe bashed Bright Dzvova, an MDC activist for wearing a party t-shirt.

Makuyana also threatened to deal with Dzvova in an unspecified way in 2018.

Makuyana appeared before Chiredzi Magistrate Constance Mutandwa last Wednesday facing assault charges.

The incident happened on February 19,2017 at Vhurumuka Business Centre in Chiredzi.

Makuyana approached Dzvova who was wearing an MDC t-shirt and demanded to know why he was wearing it.

He pushed Dzvova by the neck and accused him of being a sellout.

Makuyana ripped off the t-shirt and assaulted Dzvova.

Makuyana was remanded out of custody to March 21,2017.

Human rights organisations and pressure groups say soldiers have played a significant role in perpetrating acts of violence in the country.

Political analysts have described the incident as an attempt to intimidate perceived anti-Zanu PF elements ahead of the 2018 polls.

“We regard the incident as a deliberate attempt to crush democratic forces in the country,” said political writer and analyst, Batsiranai Ngungama.

During the violent campaign ahead of the 2008 Presidential Election Run- off, soldiers and suspected CIO operatives tormented and tortured supporters of the Morgan Tsvangirai led MDC.

Political researchers also said more than 500 MDC activists were murdered during the same period.

Mugabe’s Zanu PF Wants To Kill Tsvangirai – Aide Claims

The MDC has reacted angrily to threats by a State media columnist who said yesterday that popular opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai was only being saved from harm by the “grace” of President Robert Mugabe.
Speaking to the Daily News after reading the controversial column, Tsvangirai’s spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka described Zanu PF as an “evil” party — adding that yesterday’s threat should be viewed as part of the ruling party’s ongoing “dastardly” plots against the former prime minister in the government of national unity.

This comes as Tsvangirai is on the cusp of wrapping up an electoral pact with smaller opposition parties, which analysts say could finally see both Mugabe and Zanu PF defeated in the eagerly-awaited 2018 polls.

Tamborinyoka said the MDC viewed the threats against Tsvangirai very seriously, especially considering the “many previous attempts” on the life of the former labour union leader by Zanu PF.

Reacting to Tsvangirai’s comments which were carried by the Daily News in its Friday edition, a shadowy columnist in the Sunday Mail — who writes under the inappropriate pseudonym of Bishop Lazarus — made ominous threats against the MDC leader.

“A few days ago, Morgan said something to the effect that; ‘You will be safe under me.’ Morgan was trying to give assurance to President Mugabe and security chiefs that they would be safe under his rule. Unonyatsoona kuti munhu haasi kunzwa zvakanaka (One can see that he is not well).

“Instead of hallucinating, Morgan should know that the real question is: ‘Is Morgan safe going into the future?’ True, there are some people who really love Morgan, but there are many who are really angry with the man. They whisper in the dark saying; ‘This man brought us all these troubles and if it wasn’t for President Mugabe…

“What is unfortunate for Morgan is that those who love him are so insignificant in the scheme of political things yet those who are angry with him have the capacity to do anything they want with him. I mean anything. So the question going into the future is; ‘Is Morgan going to be safe?

“The answer may be found in history. Just check what happened to that sell-out Morris Nyathi after the attainment of independence,” the vituperative Bishop Lazarus wrote.

Tamborinyoka told the Daily News yesterday that they were aware that Zanu PF always wanted Tsvangirai dead.

“But he will only die when he achieves God’s purpose, even though we are aware that Zanu PF wants Tsvangirai dead.

“Tsvangirai’s life has always been under threat from Zanu PF. There have been many assassination plots. He was also brutally attacked in a police station and lost his wife (in suspicious circumstances) but his source of protection is God.

“The whim of human wishes will always falter on the anvil of God’s grace. Whatever attempts on Tsvangirai they scheme will always fail as long as God is willing to protect him,” Tamborinyoka thundered.

Speaking in Harare on Thursday, after holding a crucial meeting with the MDC national executive, Tsvangirai said Mugabe and top securocrats had nothing to fear as he would give them immunity from prosecution when he forms the country’s next government.

“I have a message to those who have in the past resisted change and who remain keen to subvert the people’s will because of their uncertainty due to the prospect of political change in the country.

“I wish to assure everyone that there is nothing to fear in the change that we seek. We have no intention to engage in retribution, and we are only driven by the genuine patriotic spirit to ensure peace, stability and growth.

Mother In Dodgy Baby ‘Abduction’ Claim Arrested

The mother of the baby whose alleged abduction sparked a national manhunt in South Africa has been arrested.
One-month-old Siwaphiwe Mbambo was found alive and well around midnight on Saturday.
The mother had told police that she was taken during a car-jacking outside a shopping centre in the South African city of Durban on Friday.
But a police official has accused her of making the crime up, after the baby was found with her boyfriend.
The 34-year-old woman appeared at the Durban Magistrates court on Monday but her case was postponed to Wednesday because her lawyer was not present, and also to allow police to compile a full charge sheet, BBC’s Milton Nkosi in South Africa reports.
The court also ordered the police to obtain the DNA of the baby girl to determine who her father is.
Africa Live: More on this and other stories
The boyfriend, and a woman thought to be his other girlfriend, have also been arrested.
“This was a false case and cost us money and resources that could have been deployed in other places‚” said Maj Gen Bala Naidoo‚ KwaZulu-Natal deputy provincial commissioner for the detective service, according to The Herald newspaper.
The abduction sparked a huge media campaign and a search by 100 officers.
The mother had reported that two people stole her car, driving off with the baby.
Both she and her husband made impassioned pleas for their baby to be returned.
Many South Africans were moved by the case, and went on Twitter, using the hashtag #HelpFindDurbanBaby, to urge anyone with information to come forward.

Cuthbert Dube’s Woes Mount

It never rains but pours for embattled former Premier Service Medical Aid Society chief executive Dr Cuthbert Dube after the Labour Court quashed a $3,5 million arbitral award granted to him in a contractual dispute with the society.

Dr Dube won the $3 million arbitral award against the medical aid society in April 2015, entitling him to monthly salary and benefits backdated to January 2014.

He won two arbitral awards against Premier Service Medical Investment (PSMI) for $2 070 000 and against PSMAS for $1 380 000, bringing his total claims to $3 450 000.

However, Dr Dube’s hopes for rich pickings were damned after the High Court on Friday set aside the two arbitral awards.

Mrs Euna Makamure sitting with Mrs Betty Chidziva ruled that there was merit in the PSMAS and PSMI challenge and granted the appeal.

“In my view, in the two appeals, the respective arbitral awards are to be set aside,” said Mrs Makamure.

“Accordingly, it is ordered that the arbitral award is each case be and is hereby set aside and substituted with the following—‘the claimant’s (Dr Dube) claim is hereby dismissed’.”

Dr Dube was fired in January 2014 for awarding himself a hefty salary of $92 000 excluding other benefits from the group, and another $43 000 plus benefits from the subsidiary – PSMI.

The two appeals were dealt with in one hearing because PSMAS and PMSI are closely related. State Media

Khupe Donations To Flood Hit Sipepa Village Rattle Zanu PF

Staff Reporter l Some villagers from the flood hit Sipepa Village in Tsholotsho claim that ZANU PF officials and members in the area are victimising them for receiving food and clothing items donated to them by MDCT Vice President Thokozani Khuphe a fortnight ago.

The villagers who spoke to ZimEye.com in confidence said that the ZANU PF leaders have a list of names of all people who received donations from Khuphe and they are being deliberately excluded from government and other organisation’s relief that is being brought through to the flood victims.

“We have been openly told by some people within ZANU PF that it has been said within the party that we will get help from Khuphe and not ZANU PF,” said one of the villagers in her narration to ZimEye.com.

Khuphe visited the flood victims in the area in the company of fellow legislature Ruth Labode and donated 150 blankets, 400kgs mealie meal, 200kgs chunks, 3 cartons of cooking oil and salt to some off the many flood victims who were camping at Sipepa Hospital.

EXPOSED: Zuma In R1.3bn New Private Jet Deal

Johannesburg – A plan to buy President Jacob Zuma a new private jet that could cost R1.3bn has been kept secret.
According to a report by the Sunday Times, the jet will be used for shorter trips across Southern Africa. The main jet, Inkwazi will be used for longer flights for both the president and his deputy.
The Sunday Times reported that this bid was not advertised as it was being tailored for a “specific supplier”.
Last year Fin24 reported on a bid to acquire a new luxury presidential jet at a price of R4bn. This is equivalent to 16 Nkandlas, which would each cost R246m.
However these plans were put on ice, in October last year, City Press reported. This was despite the fact that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan had made an additional R143m for aircraft leases for the president.
Armaments Corporation of South Africa (Armscor), which oversees arms procurement for the department of defence, said the tender process for the R4bn acquisition had been cancelled because none of the bids complied with the minimum requirements.
Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula told Parliament last year that there were still intentions to get Zuma a VIP jet.
The defence force had four executive jets, two of which were “unserviceable”, at the time News24 reported. These included the president’s current jet, a Falcon 900 for the deputy president, and two “unserviceable” Falcon 50s.
The president’s jet cost R84 000 per hour to operate, and the Falcon 900 and Falcon 50 R54 000 per hour, Mapisa-Nqakula said.

A Man Is Better Than A Woman – Women’s Minister Shock Position

WOMEN’S Affairs Minister Nyasha Chikwinya has defended her decision to appoint a male board member to the soon to be opened Women’s Bank, something feminist groups say flew in the face of ongoing attempts to uplift local women.
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe CEO Matthew Kunaka was introduced by Chikwinya during last week’s International Women’s Day celebrations in Harare.
The event was attended by hundreds of local women.
In her address, Chikwinya said she was inundated with demands for her to second a woman to the position, something she said she vehemently disputed insisting she went for competence as opposed to one’s sex.
“Some people said to be I should appoint a female chairperson but I stood my ground saying we do not operate like that,” Chikwinya said.
“We are looking for a competent person who is able to drive the bank forward.
“A man or a woman with a vision and passion for women who is able to articulate issues for women and bring whatsoever women want in terms of financial inclusion on the table.”
However, this did not go down well with the women’s movement that is advocating women’s increased involvement in managerial positions.
Grace Chirenje, a feminist, said Kunaka’s appointment was a step backwards in the country’s painstaking efforts to advance women’s affairs.
“The appointment shows lack of political will towards women’s human rights development; it’s simply not there. Women’s spaces should be simply that, women’s spaces.
“This is retrogressive unless it’s a gender bank,” Chirenje said.
Similarly, Nyasha Sengayi, also a feminist, said the government was showing lack of commitment towards fulfilling its own pledges of empowering local women.
“It is sad to note that 36 years into independence, a key leader who is leading a women’s ministry is showcasing serious structural challenges by supporting a move such as this within her ministry,” Sengayi said.
“We are past the age of being directed by men on issues concerning our economic empowerment as this erodes our gains in the fight for equality as the women’s movement.
“The minister should seriously consider changing this as soon as possible. Gender inequality is unacceptable in this era.”
Don Mavhudzi, an activist, said while a woman should head the board, the candidate should be experienced and competent.
“There are many competent, well qualified and experienced women out there who should be given a chance.
“Having a man leading such an organisation is tantamount to claiming that women cannot lead themselves.
“They should be empowered in every respect, beginning with the leadership of the institutions that are fronting women issues.”
It is not the first local women have been up in arms with a government official for allegedly overlooking them on issues to do with top leadership positions.
President Robert Mugabe was in 2013 slammed for appointing a cabinet which only had 17 percent female component, months after the country had adopted a new constitution which prescribed equal opportunities for both men and women.

Joice Chases Gen. Mujuru’s Killers

FORMER Vice President, Joice Mujuru has given the biggest hint yet that she will seek revenge for the cruel death of her husband and decorated war hero Solomon Mujuru in 2011.

Revered liberation war commander, Mujuru, died in a freak inferno at his Ruzambo Farm in Beatrice in August 2011.

Now his widow Joice is pointing an accusing finger at President Robert Mugabe and his wife First Lady Grace and last week disclosed her wish for revenge, while addressing a round table meeting with women in business, during her ongoing London tour.

“What killed Solomon is the reason why Mugabe and Grace have treated me the way they have been treating me like this, they know where it came,” Mujuru told her audience.

One of her guests then interjected claiming she had evidence and knew how the late army general met his fate.

Mujuru’s family have previously expressed their unhappiness over the findings of a government-sponsored inquest into the military supremo’s death.

Mujuru told her guest to hold on to the evidence, indicating it might come in handy at some point in the future.

“Thank you (lady with evidence) keep it, I will need it one day … because if they did not know what happened to my husband they would not have behaved like this,” Mujuru now opposition National People’s Party leader, said.

First Lady Grace led the shrill campaign against Mujuru in 2014, accusing the then VP of a sinister plot to topple Mugabe. While Mujuru denied the charges that included dabbling in witchcraft, Mugabe bought into the accusations that bordered on treason and fired his deputy.

However, no criminal charge has yet been preferred on Mujuru and her acolytes numbering almost 200, including former Cabinet ministers and no less than nine Zanu PF provincial chairpersons.

Mujuru also told of her humiliation at the hands of Grace and her husband in her last days as the country’s number two and second-in-command of the ruling Zanu PF party.

“I think you guys looked at me and wondered how a trained soldier, could allow herself to be humiliated by Grace (First Lady) in such fashion. It was like she was waving me around naked, forcing me up a tree and back, while my family including children and in-laws watched in horror.

“If you know where I come from, I could have told Grace and her husband exactly what they deserved. They had skinned me alive, but I took a chill pill and said I am here to suffer for the women,” Mujuru said.

The former VP said Mugabe was now having a “taste of his own medicine” as former Zanu PF youth leaders, who include Godfrey Tsenengamu and Acie Lumumba, have now joined the bandwagon of insulting the Zanu PF leader and his wife in public.

“The way I used to respect Mugabe, but after he embarrassed me I gave everything to God. I left everything in God’s hands and said it is only him who would take away the respect I had for Mugabe.

“Now where is he, he is being humiliated by young children, the same kids he trained to insult me are now haunting him and his wife,” she said.

Lumumba called Mugabe by the F-word and awaits trial for insulting the 93-year-old strongman, while Tsenengamu is also on bail on the same charge including subversion after urging Mugabe to call Grace to order. – NewsDay

Zanu-PF Youths Disrupt MDC Tsvangirai Funeral

By Staff Reporter l  Zanu-PF youths disrupted a funeral of an MDC-T care who passed on in Mbare last weekend.

At the late  Chikita Ngano’s homestead a Moragn Tsvangirai led MDC party cadre, rowdy Zanu-PF youths on Saturday told mourners to vacate the place because they wanted to hold a rally.

Similar violent attacks happened in Highfield at the weekend when Zanu PF youths attacked MDC-T members who were conducting door to door voter education.

MDC-T Harare district deputy organiser, Prosper Tirivacho and six others were seriously injured.

Mugabe’s Useless Foreign Trips Slammed

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe’s “useless” foreign jaunts are to blame for the poor state of infrastructure in the country, the opposition MDC has said.

The party led by former Industry minister Welshman Ncube, has blamed the ruling Zanu PF government ineptitude for the unfortunate loss of lives, including last week’s horror crash that claimed 13 lives in Bulawayo.

Thirteen people died on the spot, while four others were seriously injured and admitted at the United Bulawayo Hospital after a commuter omnibus, which was carrying a dead body, collided with a haulage truck just outside the country’s second largest city.

In a statement, MDC spokesperson Kurauone Chihwayi said his party was saddened and outraged by the unnecessary loss of life.

“It is sad to note that it has to take nothing short of the loss of precious lives for government to begin to take notice of the serious disrepair of our roads. It is our hope that government will acknowledge and accept responsibility for these unnecessary deaths and swiftly make reparations to the families of the deceased,” Chihwayi said.

“The cause of this accident like many others before it is the negligence and rampant corruption inside President Robert Mugabe’s government. The government and in particular the Transport ministry must be brought to book over the horrific deterioration of our roads.”

Chihwayi said it seems Mugabe’s government is happy with increasing the road death toll, while he gallivants across the globe.

“Instead of improvements on our roads all we are seeing are traffic police officers at literally every 5km stretch whose sole goal is to further milk motorists of their hard-earned cash. Zinara needs to come clean about why it continues to collect revenue from our roads without repairing them for years on end,” he said.

The party’s Matabeleland South chairperson Pilate Ndebele said the government’s declaration of some roads as a state of disaster will not help matters.

“This government is now blaming the destruction of the infrastructure on the rains, forgetting that since independence they have not been rehabilitating the infrastructure,” Ndebele said, adding devolution was the answer to the problem of infrastructure decay. Newsday

Kaukonde Snubs Former CIO Boss

FORMER Mashonaland East provincial governor Ray Kaukonde has snubbed an offer to lead opposition Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) to fill the void left by ex-State Vice-President Joice Mujuru.

Kaukonde, a former Zanu PF Mashonaland East provincial leader, was kicked out of the ruling party along with Mujuru at the tail-end of 2014 in the tumultuous events that rocked the former guerrilla movement ahead of its congress.

The group that also included former ministers Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo, as well as eight other provincial chairpersons, went on to form ZimPF before a split last month that saw Mujuru rebranding her faction to form the National People’s Party (NPP).

Former governor, Kaukonde, was responding to social media reports in which a character masquerading as the politician-cum-business magnet indicated he was resigning from active politics.

“Retiring from active politics and let the youngsters take over. We have played our part as senior citizens of this great nation. Our children can now take over from where we left off,” the character under the name Ray Joseph Kaukonde said.

But the former Zanu PF provincial chairperson, who also walked away from both Mujuru and Mutasa/Gumbo factions of ZimPF, while admitting he was taking a sabbatical from politics said the facebook post was not his.

“Mutasa and Gumbo can look for their leader, but please do not drag me into this. I am not on facebook and did not post that thing. Politics is not everything, it is not oxygen and when I want to speak I will not use social media, but will come out in flesh to say what I think,” Kaukonde said.

Famed for telling President Robert Mugabe that he was surrounded by political cheats and liars, Kaukonde said he had received numerous calls to take over as leader of ZimPF, but was not interested.

“I am not going back to Zanu PF or joining any other political formation. Our people must never be fooled by cheats. There is life beyond politics and I am a businessman with a lot of work to do.

“However, I must say I am worried that this person who has been using my name seems to know not only my movements but my thinking. At the appropriate time, I will report to relevant authorities,” Kaukonde said. “People should not dream. I have played my part and need to sort myself and people must wait for me to speak for myself. I have no plan to come back into active politics at least for now.” Newsday

Mugabe The Worst Butcherer

SOUTH Africa-based youth, theatre organisation, Siphesakhe Youth Organisation (SYO) and its offshoot Uloyiko Project have cited President Robert Mugabe as an example of Africa’s worst rulers.

In an article to mark South Africa’s celebration of Human Rights Day on March 21, co-authored by SYO director, Siphelo Mtshetshasi, Uloyiko director Prosper Siza Nkosi, Yanga Mhluzi and Ayanda Manala the group said Mugabe’s record was atrocious.

The writers said the day must be used to “decry poor governance and gross human rights violations” by many African governments.“Democracy in Africa must replace the big man of Africa syndrome that has caused a lot of suffering to many leading to the creation of 93 year old human rights violators like Robert Gabriel Mugabe, who cannot walk, talk and sit properly but continues to wobbly strut and rickety the world stage as a leader of Zimbabwe without an iota of shame,” reads part of the article. They said Mugabe and his zealots were an embarrassment to the dignity of Africa and Africans.

“Africa needs a new beginning, a new departure from the clutches of these genocidal tyrants of the Mugabe type who care about no one else but themselves and their families. They are a great betrayal to Africa’s aspirations and its values of decency and the values of Ubuntu,” read the article in part.

“On this very day, we will also be remembering the victims of xenophobia attacks and other ills blighting and affecting our societies in South Africa and elsewhere.”

The concerned groups said they will be making a solidarity demo for the Matabeleland victims of Gukurahundi genocide perpetrated by Mugabe’s in the 1980s and the on-going rights violations in Zimbabwe.

“Our event is therefore sub focusing on the human rights violation that occurred in Matabeleland during the genocide supported by the very same Apartheid government that committed Sharpeville atrocities,” reads the article.

The play will be showcased on March 19 and 21 at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg. Newsday

SATANISTS: “Born-again” Tsikamudanda Demands Goblins Back from Prophet

Langton Ncube| A Gweru witch hunter, tsikamudanda, who late last year hit headlines for repenting to God and delivering his three goblins to a prophet has made a shock turn around demanding his goblins back from the prophet.

The witch hunter who ZimEye.com sources only identified as Moyo is reportedly claiming that he is battling with life since the day he delivered the goblins to the prophet in October last year and wants to go back to his previous life. The man who is now visibly mentally ill, claims the Satanic elements and the profession were supplying him with money all the time.

Moyo is claiming that when he handed over the goblins (VIDEO BELOW) to the prophet the understanding was that they were going to be set on fire but the prophet instead concealed them and converted them to his personal use.

The renowned tsikamudanda is showing signs of mental disorder.

Efforts to get a comment from the concerned pastor were unsuccessful. Moyo is reported to be continuously seen visiting the prophet’s home demanding his goblins back to no avail.

Teacher Vanishes After Sexually Abusing Grade 7 Pupil

Terrence Mawawa, Chiredzi| A teacher at a local school fled to South Africa after raping a Grade 7 pupil several times.

Goodwill Gwata disappeared from Mhlanguleni Primary School in fear of being arrested for sexually abusing the minor.

Police in Chiredzi said they arrived at the school when Gwata had already vanished.

“The teacher who was fingered for the abuse was nowhere to be seen when the cops arrived at the school. The said teacher forcibly had sex with the minor several times,” police in Chiredzi said last week.

Authorities at the school said when Gwata overheard the police were coming to investigate the matter, he immediately vanished from the school.

“Gwata was last seen the day the matter was reported to the police. The information we have is that Gwata is now in South Africa,” said a senior staff member at the school.

Local parents have called on the police to act on the matter.

Members of the Mhlanguleni Old Students’ Association have vowed to launch a search for Gwata.

“Gwata is reportedly hiding in Soshanguve Extension, Pretoria. We will find him very soon. We cannot tolerate such heartless behaviour,” said a member of the association.

Chiredzi District Schools Inspector, Petronella Nyangwe was not immediately available for a comment on the matter.

Meet Noah Manyika LIVE this Morning 7am

The founder of Build Zimbabwe, Dr Noah Manyika is on ZimEye early this morning at 7am.

He will be interviewed on a wide ranging spectrum of his political movement which has taken social networks by storm. The program begins at 7am (London time), 9am (Harare time).

NRZ Declared Dead

TRANSPORT minister Joram Gumbo (pictured) told Senate that the situation at the comatose National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) had worsened, making it difficult to attract investors and resuscitate it.

Gumbo said NRZ operations have been on a downward spiral for years now.

“Just yesterday (Wednesday) we presented a paper to Cabinet to look at options to resuscitate NRZ, but the problem is that their books are very bad to the extent it is difficult to attract partners, but we are negotiating with different companies for partnership,” he said.

Gumbo said the poor performance by NRZ was contributing to the dilapidation of roads in the country as heavy goods were carried by road instead of rail.

He said one of the problems that affected NRZ was overstaffing, where they used to have 20

000 employees, which dropped to 12 000 in 1990 before the current idle 5 000.

Gumbo also told the Senate that government would not compensate vehicles damaged by potholes, adding it was the duty of vehicle owners to insure their vehicles.

The Transport minister recently told journalists that the death of NRZ has forced transporters to move heavy loads such as granite stone, coal and raw minerals by road.

“When we construct roads it is done in such a way that some roads are only meant for light vehicles and medium toll vehicles like the Harare Bindura road, but that road is now being used by trucks which carry up to 50 tonnes of black granite stones and this is now destroying the road. The point is that rail, which is supposed to provide transport for such heavy stones is not working properly and, therefore, people are forced to use the road,” Gumbo said.

Government has come under fire over allegations that Gumbo’s ministry was allowing the construction of substandard roads, with most falling apart inside five years amid corruption accusations.

NRZ board chairman, Larry Mavhima, backed Gumbo saying that the viability of the parastatal was vital to road maintenance and durability.

“We have to access funding so that we turn around the fortunes of NRZ and allow it to play its role in reliving the burden of the toll brought by heavy trucks on our roads, unfortunately before we are capitalised transporters will continue using road,” he said.

Next our roads without repairing them for years on end,” he said.

– Newsday

KIDS’ BANK SET UP: Broke Govt Blows $10 Million

youth bank…Patrick Chinamasa

At the height of the disturbing economic woes which have seen hospitals run out of vital drugs and charge abusive $100 creation of a so called, “Youth Bank.”

In a priority bust-up, the government which is failing to pay civil servant salaries, has diverted the lumpsum for no other purpose other than to coerce youth numbers for the upcoming 2018 elections.

Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa revealed this development saying he has under Mugabe’s authority aside $10 million for what he called “The Youth Bank”.

Chinamasa said: “We have set aside money for the Youth Bank which they call Empower Bank, another $10 million.

“In the private sector there are about 150 or so macro-finance institutions-some more successful than others and this is basically to encourage access by SMEs to capital which they badly need.

Be Sexy, Cool And Confident – MP Tells Women

WOMEN in business and politics often complain of sexualisation of their brands (images) in the media, where it is actually their sexuality that is often talked about more than their successes.

But, women like MDC legislator Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga and media and brand specialist Thembelihle Khumalo feel women can at times use their feminine nature to advantage.A conversation on overcoming sexualisation of women in business and political spaces by Women Politicians’ Incubator Zimbabwe (Wopiz) and Research and Advocacy Unit (RAU) held in Harare on Thursday saw different powerful women in politics, business and the media discussing how sexualisation of women by the media and advertisers has affected or elevated the brand of some powerful females.Misihairabwi-Mushonga narrated how she has been portrayed as a notorious stunts woman who waves panty pads and second-hand underwear in Parliament. The “stunts” have, however, managed to influence government policy with Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa removing duty on sanitary wear.

“To be a woman in politics one has to be courageous because unfortunately there is

the issue of respectability that is expected of you, yet as a woman at times I also want to wake up, put on my tights and go to the shops without worrying about who is taking a picture of me,” Misihairabwi-Mushonga said.

“I have never bothered as to whether people respect me and so I came with pads and second-hand panties in Parliament. I never plan for the stunts. It came by accident that I was in a salon and women were talking about how life is difficult that they were resorting to buying second-hand underwear and I thought it will be interesting to raise the issue in Parliament.”

She said a good of experiences of what women have gone through will be the tiff between musician Stunner (Desmond Chideme) and his United Kingdom-based former wife, Olinda Chapel. Olinda was criticised even by other women when she opened up about her life with the rapper.

“We (women) have all had ‘Stunners’ in our lives and we end up showing our viciousness. I had to end up telling Chinamasa in the National Assembly that I am actually menstruating to force him to remove duty – and what I am saying is that it takes hard work to be doing that, and that is who I am,” Misihairabwi-Mushonga said.

The MP said it is possible to use one’s feminine side to get things done. She said during her time with the Copac management committee, she managed to use her feminine side to ensure the Constitution included gender issues.

Media specialist Patience Zirima from Media Monitors said women pictures are portrayed by the media as the selling points.

“There is sexualisation of female politicians, and even powerful politicians like Joice Mujuru are sexualised to the extent that everything she says is trivialised. An example are media headlines like Mujuru ready for Tsvangirai romance, which sound as if she is ready to be a junior partner, as well as gives an impression she is preparing a ‘bed’ for him. It does not matter what other things she does, sex is always the highlight,” Zirima said. -Newsday

Life In Prison For Jilted Lover Killer

A jilted gold panner who crashed his 73 year old neighbour’s head to death has been given life in prison.

H suspected him of having an affair with his ex-girlfriend before tying the woman up with barbed wire and kidnapping her, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Hloniphani Ngulube of Altyre Farm in Fort Rixon, Insiza district axed the now deceased, who was not named in court, before pounding his head with a big stone when he found him with his ex-girlfriend.

He tied his ex-girlfriend, Ms Petronella Ndlovu’s hands with a piece of barbed wire before kidnapping her for two days.

Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Nicholas Mathonsi convicted Ngulube of murder with actual intent and kidnapping.

He jailed Ngulube for life on the murder and sentenced him to an additional five years for the kidnapping offence.

Justice Mathonsi said although Ngulube suffered from the swirls of passion and pangs of jealous, his actions were not a justification for the crimes he committed.

He described Ngulube as a heartless sexual pervert who targeted defenceless women.

“Nothing can atone for the savage killing of a 73 year-old man who was minding his own business at his home thinking that he was safe. What we have here is a man who was rejected by a woman because of his abusive tendencies. He simply could not accept rejection because he had harboured this obtuse and indeed warped mentality that a woman is an object of appropriation by a man, a piece of chattel which he could own. – State Media

Govt to Cut Down Farm Sizes

farm cut down…Patrick Chinamasa

Robert Mugabe’s administration says it is to soon reduce farm sizes to reasonably small pieces of land to meet demand from more land-hungry Zimbabweans before bringing closure to the land redistribution chapter.

Finance and Economic Development Minister Patrick Chinamasa said the state was working to ensure that beneficiaries of the land reform received proper legal documents to secure their tenure and enable them to access bank loans.

Government has compulsorily acquired over 12 million hectares of arable land previously occupied by white farmers. Some black beneficiaries got vast swathes of land they can’t put to effective use.

Addressing students of the Joint Command and Staff Course Number 30 in Harare on Thursday, Minister Chinamasa said current offer letters were not sufficient security as they could be withdrawn by the Ministry of Lands and Rural Resettlement.

Minister Chinamasa said after demarcating new boundaries, Government would work on 99-year leases that could be used as collateral.

“We are doing this through the 99-year leases and to do the 99-year lease, we need a resurvey of the land for the new boundaries. As you know, the 11 million or 12 million hectares were acquired compulsorily. We need to cut it up into small pieces. We now must establish the new boundaries as a prerequisite to granting 99-year leases,” said Minister Chinamasa.

“We also need to bring finality to that issue (land reform) and we are saying all those who benefited under the land reform programme must have proper legal instruments to secure their tenure so as to encourage them to make investments on the pieces of land given to them,” he said.

“We also need to carry out assessment of compensation for improvements where the Constitution requires us to have paid for improvements and also the land where, as in BIPPA, we are required to pay compensation for both land and improvements,” he said.

The minister added: “There will be lot of surveys both for A1 and A2 so that we know where the boundaries are. It’s only after your 99-year lease that you can be secure. Those of you who have got land you will see at the bottom of your offer letter that the offer letter can be withdrawn by the Ministry of Lands any time. That’s no good security.

“It’s very important that we expedite the issuance of security documents so as to encourage more investments on our land. The implementation of these measures, we think, will help to boost agricultural productivity through enhanced access to finance.”

Minister Chinamasa said Government had also come up with a number of initiatives to unlock funding opportunities for small businesses.

He said this was largely due to the fact that the economy had been informalised.

“We are also promoting what I call anchor financing models,” he said.

“These are basically to build linkages between big businesses and small businesses. As all of us are aware, our economy is now largely informalised and there are challenges with the SMEs – challenges with access to capital, access to skills, access to suitable and appropriate accommodation, whether they are factories, whether they are retail enterprises,” said the Minister.

“We essentially need to build linkages to ensure that we see growth in the SMEs to a level where we can say they are now big players. To do so we have encouraged the setting up of macro-finance institutions. We have capitalised the Women’s Bank, $10 million, micro-finance bank,” he said.

“We have also set aside money for the Youth Bank, which they call Empower Bank, another $10 million. In the private sector, there are about 150 or so macro-finance institutions – some more successful than others and this is basically to encourage access by SMEs to capital, which they badly need.” – state media

I Am Behind Tsvangirai Says Mujuru

Former vice-president Joice Mujuru says she will support any leader chosen to lead a coalition against President Robert Mugabe in next year’s elections.

Mujuru made the declaration in an interview with the BBC during her recent visit to Britain. The interview will be screened tomorrow under the respected programme, HardTalk.

The National People’s Party (NPP) leader said coalition talks with former prime minister Morgan Tsvangirai were progressing well and they were now drafting a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

“We have been in talks for the coalition with Morgan Tsvangirai,” Mujuru said. “It is part of the process iwe are carrying out now which I can’t say who is who, but it is part of the results that are going to come out.

“Between Tsvangirai and myself, we are working together, we have done some addresses together and right now, we are working on an MoU so that we are able to work together.”
Mujuru has been in coalition talks with Tsvangirai since last year when she was still Zimbabwe People First leader before the party split last month due to differences with former allies Rugare Gumbo and Didymus Mutasa.

There have been fears that the acrimonious relationship between Mujuru and her former allies would scuttle the coalition talks with the MDC-T leader, who has on the other hand promised to engage both factions.

“Anyone who is chosen according to our discussions, I will be able to work with,” she added.
Mutasa has already endorsed Tsvangirai — the only opposition leader to hand Mugabe his first electoral defeat in 2008.

Mujuru was also quizzed on why she intended to forgive Mugabe if she wins in the 2018 general elections after the humiliating way she was haunded out of Zanu PF.

“My party is not for retribution, but for restitution. We have to encourage people to forgive but not to forget. We cannot continue to lead in the past,” she said.

“We should be busy thinking of how best we should move forward.”
On the 1980s Matabeleland and Midlands massacres also known as Gukurahundi, Mujuru said she was partly to blame as someone who was in government according to the concept of collective responsibility.

But she said it was unfair to blame everyone who was in government at the time because the atrocities were not executed by the regular army.

Mujuru also disputed claims that she looted diamonds from Chiadzwa, saying the term “Churu ChaMai Mujuru” (Mujuru’s hill) was a joke created by villagers involved in a flower export project she initiated at Hotsprings, Mutare. The project was a major source of foreign currency.

She said when diamonds were discovered, people started claiming that they now had their project similar to the horticulture project. Mujuru said villagers teased each other about the “Churu chaMai Mujuru”, but she was never into mining. Standard

Crash Victims Burial Details

Seven of the 14 people who perished in a horror crash in Bulawayo last week are likely to be buried tomorrow at Luveve Cemetery, a family spokesperson has said.

The family which has received State assistance to the tune of $700 per body says they wish to bury their loved ones as the hospital has notified them that the bodies had gone bad.

Mr Kenny Sibanda who lost three children in accident said: “I’m really saddened by the loss of my children. When I went to hospital they told me that akusangeneki e mortuary ngabantu benu. Honestly this saddens me, so since I don’t have money, I am hoping that tomorrow (today) we will finalise the whole process and bury them at Luveve,” said Mr Sibanda.

He said one of his relatives had a funeral policy with Kings and Queens which had moved the bodies from the hospital’s mortuary to their parlour.

Mr Sibanda thanked the Government for the assistance but said his sister was in urgent need of $600. “We are appealing for assistance for Enert Sibanda who is at Mpilo hospital’s intensive care unit. The doctors said a CT head scan is required and it costs about $600 and we don’t have that money. We are appealing to people who can assist us to have her scanned, right now she can’t talk at all,” said Mr Sibanda.

He also appealed for assistance in taking care of orphans left by his children. “I am an old man and I can’t take all these children left behind by their parents to school. I have two who are in Form Three and very intelligent and I wish to see them continue with their schooling,” said Mr Sibanda.

He said his wife was recuperating at United Bulawayo Hospitals and also that they were not sure of the burial arrangements of their other relatives.

Mr Sibanda said his relatives that would be buried at Luveve Cemetery are Gift Sibanda (43), Gracious Sibanda, (41), Luke Sibanda (65), Sovia Sibanda (37), Magret Dube (46), Rebecca Dube (65) and Grace Ndemera (48).

Other deceased are Agnes Ngwenya (55), Danisani Masukume (40), Esther Moyo Mangena (21), Gladys Nyathi (65), Sinikiwe Mangena (32) and Yvonne Machingauta (32).

The two families were travelling to Masvingo for the burial of Hopewell Masukume (14) who passed away after a long illness at Mpilo Central Hospital.

Mr Sibanda said Hopewell’s body and that of his relatives had been collected by his family for burial in Masvingo.

Mourners for the Sibanda family are now gathered in Mabutweni suburb at Mr Sibanda’s home. The funeral wake for his daughter Gracious is in Emganwini, at her in-laws’ house. State Media

5km Road Resurfaced For Mugabe’s Feet To Use For Only 6 mins

Staff Reporter l Government has perfectly resurfaced a 5km stretch on a road in Gwanda for President Robert Mugabe which he will only use for less than ten minutes.

President Mugabe is expected to officially open a Gwanda Community Information Centre soon and a stretch of a road in the town from the ZRP Main camp where his helicopters are expected to land to the renovated centre has been extensively resurfaced to match a major highway.

The road which much of it is hardly used by members of the public as it bypasses the townships on the outskirts of the town was resurfaced at a cost expected to be over $100 000 at a time when a majority of the town’s roads are a sore sight.

The busiest of the town’s roads which links the major high density suburbs of Spitzkop and Phakama to the CBD are a death trap waiting for a major accident to happen as it has developed huge potholes some as deep as to about half a meter deep.

While the residents in the town appreciated the resurfacing of the road as a standing development for the town, they however castigated the motive behind the exercise which is only “to give President Mugabe a six minute ride on a carpet” while the rest of the citizens plunge into portholes.

Mugabe was expected to officially open the centre immediately after his birthday celebrations in Matobo but unfortunately fell ill and had to be hurriedly flown to Singapore for medical attention. A new date for his visit to Gwanda for the ceremony is yet to be announced.

LIVE REPORT:  By Simba Chikanza|A United Kingdom campaign set up for cancer sufferer, Esther Mhuri which during the week raised over £3,926 in donations has been dismissed by the patient as totally fake, ZimEye can reveal.

ZimEye can reveal the campaign is nothing but a scam.

While the 38 year old Esther Mhuri is on the verge of losing her second breast to cancer and selling all her assets including her house, a UK campaign led by one woman named as Patience Tich (real surname – Murapata) from Coventry, has been found questionable. The poor Gweru woman, Mhuri has been robbed of the thousands donated by sympathising Zimbabweans in the UK since the 7th March this year.

In correspondences seen by ZimEye, Patience Murapata claims she has informed Esther Mhuri of the £3,926 raised. But Mhuri reveals there is nothing like that and no communication has ever been made to her about it. To this Patience Murapata then suddenly shifts the story and starts suggesting she has communicated to “a lotta people contacting me portraying to be you (Esther Mhuri) and this has gone outta hand.”

But Esther’s contact numbers were fully in the public domain and can be reached within seconds of a telephone call, yet the said Patience Tich claims she is not reachable.

ZimEye is now digging further into this scam after Mrs Mhuri further told us, “I don’t know anyone from the US, I don’t know anyone from the UK. But I am just hearing that there are GoFund accounts which are being opened concerning my illness. But I have never even received any money from [the] US even from England.”

Asked if she has not received even a notification, she replied saying, “I don’t have any money, especially from the GoFund accounts you are talking about, even if you can trace on me, I don’t have anything I have received.”

Contacted for a direct comment Sunday morning, the campaigner, Patience Murapata had not responded to inquiries. But in correspondences with other donors, she replied claiming that she was struggling to access part of the money.

The said, Patience Tich uses the below pictures taken at a UK university said to be in Coventry.

Four ways of checking a fund raising campaign.

1. There’s no traceable information on the charity/nonprofit campaign anywhere.

It can be hard to spot a fake charitable campaign or nonprofit organization from a real one, since there are so many genuine charities in existence.

Do your research first before clicking the send button or signing your name on a cheque. Does the person have a phone number (cellphone and land number)? They must have a physical address before they can be trusted. Does the organization have a web presence? Even if they do, it doesn’t automatically make them legitimate.

Avoid dealing with charities who use a name or website resembling that of a real nonprofit, but presenting themselves as a separate entity. One giveaway is misspellings in the site’s URL(link), phony-looking emails, scant (or zero) social media presence, or a slightly different title to fool people into believing a fake nonprofit is real. Many look so genuine to a real-life nonprofit that the only detail changed is the address to send donations.

2. They guilt you into donating money.

We’d expect a debt collector to use strongarm tactics — not a selfless nonprofit organization. Most charities, elated if you’ll even think about giving a monetary gift, will give you as much time to make a decision to donate.

Consider it completely (and suspiciously) out of character for them if they try to cajole, persuade, shame, force or guilt you into giving money. A genuine charity will bring out the selflessness in you with a donation, not make you feel selfish for failing to donate.

3. They’re vague, ambiguous or evasive about their mission.

Any charitable agency — from the national March of Dimes to the local food pantry — should be transparent and forthcoming about who they are, their mission statement, and how and where your donation will be spent.

A fraudulent charity won’t be. They’re hoping to snag donations from people who won’t notice or bother to ask questions of the representative calling or emailing them. If you’re contacted by an organization that seems suspicious, don’t hesitate to ask them some specific questions. Will my donation be tax deductible?

4. They solicit cash or offer odd donation arrangements.

PayPal, automatic transfer, credit card, check, money order — real charities allow you to donate money in a variety of ways. If you’re called or emailed by someone seeking a charitable gift, but they insist on cash, allow the red flags to be raised; you’ll never see that money again, even if you can prove they’re fake.

5. Details emerge after you’ve made a donation.

The fake fundraiser may have created a convincing ruse and an unsuspecting person took the bait and gave them money. Sometimes, you might not be aware you were scammed until after the fact. Did you fail to get a receipt? Did you check your checking or credit card account statement, and the name on the transaction doesn’t match the name of the alleged charity? Take these as signs of a scam.

If you try to follow up with the organization, but their website is down, and their phones shut off, it becomes clear that it was a fly-by-night setup, not a real charity. Or, if the scammer pretended to be a real charity (for example, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital), and the real agency has no record or recollection of you donating, you may have been duped.

Give yourself the gift of security

Don’t boycott all charitable donations this year in fear of getting scams. Just keep this checklist top of mind when making donations:

Rapist Grandpa Jailed

A 61-YEAR-OLD grandfather from Shurugwi who raped his 17-year-old granddaughter twice as “compensation” for looking after her since she was young has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment.

The grandpa, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his grandchild appeared before Gweru Regional Magistrate Mr Morgan Nemadire facing two counts of rape.

He was convicted against his own plea of not guilty and was sentenced to 18 years in prison. He will however serve an effective 15 years after Mr Nemadire suspended three years on condition of good behaviour.

It was not indicated in court whether or not the grandchild is an orphan, leading to her grandfather raising her.

Prosecuting Mr Lloyd Mavhiza said the complainant and the accused person lived at the same homestead.

He said in October 2014, the accused approached the complainant and told her that he wanted to be compensated for raising her.

“On being asked by the complainant the type of compensation that he would require, the accused stated that he wanted to have sexual intercourse with her, the proposal the complainant vehemently refused,” he said.

In December of the same year, the court heard that the accused proceeded to the complainant’s bedroom hut during the night before sneaking into her blankets.

He then raped her with a condom on.

In June 2015, the accused person again went to the complainant’s bedroom hut while naked.

Mr Mavhiza said he sneaked into his granddaughter’s blankets and forcibly removed her clothes before raping her.

“The matter came to light in December 2015 when the accused was seen forcibly kissing the complainant by his son before the complainant revealed the whole story leading to his arrest,” he said.

‘Mugabe Running Country Like A Tuckshop

Terrence Mawawa Masvingo l Furious war veterans have accused President Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace of running Zimbabwe like a tuck shop.
Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association spokesperson, Douglas Mahiya, last week said Mugabe and his wife Grace were running the country like a family tuck shop.He said Mugabe and the G-40 Team must be stopped before they plunge the nation and the ruling party deeper into an abyss.
Mahiya described the nonagenarian and the G-40 members as destructive elements in the ruling party.
Mahiya’ s scathing utterances mirror the shocking level of internecine battle for supremacy between the G-40 and Team Lacoste.
“What is happening in Zanu PF is total madness. The country is being run like a tuck shop. Kasukuwere is a misguided political errand boy who is being used to eliminate custodians of the liberation war.Kasukuwere does what he wants thereby dragging the party into the mud,” said Mahiya..
He added: “We cannot let Mugabe and the G-40 ruin the party. Someone has to stand up and say no to the goat -butting nonsense.”
Mahiya also took a swipe at Kasukuwere for attempting to subvert the will of the ruling party supporters by nullifying the results in Masvingo Province following the G-40′ s drubbing in the Zanu PF internal polls.
“Who is he(Kasukuwere) to nullify the election results? The people voted and Chadzamira won resoundingly,” said Mahiya.
