Mnangagwa Bribes The Elderly With Rice

By A Correspondent

In a gesture aimed at spreading holiday cheer, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has assumed the role of Santa Claus this December, donating over two tonnes of rice to 20 care homes in Bulawayo.

The donation, delivered on Tuesday, was presented by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Judith Ncube, who handed over the goods on behalf of the President. Among the recipients were care homes such as Luveve School of Training, Percy Iboston, St. Francis, and Sandra Jones, with each institution receiving 100 kilograms of rice to support the elderly and children under their care.

The beneficiaries expressed gratitude, acknowledging the timely assistance as essential for ensuring a joyful Christmas for those most vulnerable in society. One representative from a care home remarked, “The timely donation will go a long way in ensuring the elderly have a great Christmas.”

While the donation was welcomed by its recipients, it is difficult to ignore the broader context within which this gesture takes place—one riddled with accusations of corruption, human rights violations, and political violence. Despite the festive spirit of the donation, the backdrop of Mnangagwa’s presidency is marked by a series of controversies that paint a far more complex picture.

Corruption Allegations

President Mnangagwa’s administration has faced numerous allegations of corruption that have eroded public trust. Critics claim that while the government continues to preach about national development and charitable efforts, it is often mired in financial mismanagement and the enrichment of the political elite. Allegations of embezzlement, fraudulent deals, and a lack of accountability in the handling of public funds remain persistent.

The donation of rice, while seemingly benevolent, raises questions about whether such acts of charity are being used as a smokescreen for a regime often accused of enriching itself at the expense of the nation. The optics of this gesture, coming from a government tainted by corruption, cannot be separated from the wider context of public dissatisfaction with the ruling party’s priorities.

Human Rights Violations and Political Repression

Beyond financial misconduct, Mnangagwa’s government has been repeatedly accused of human rights abuses, particularly in its crackdown on dissent and opposition groups. The 2018 post-election violence and subsequent human rights violations have left a scar on the nation’s conscience, with international observers and human rights organizations condemning the actions of state security forces under his leadership.

The government’s history of violently suppressing opposition protests and incarcerating political dissidents paints a stark contrast to the compassionate image it attempts to project with such donations. For many Zimbabweans, the rice given to the care homes is not enough to overshadow the human rights abuses and political repression that continue to shape their everyday lives.

Violence and State Oppression

Political violence remains a troubling feature of the Mnangagwa administration, particularly against those perceived as opponents to the ruling ZANU-PF party. Reports of intimidation, arbitrary arrests, and violence against peaceful protesters continue to emerge, casting a long shadow over any attempts at showcasing goodwill.

The timing of Mnangagwa’s donation, just weeks before the festive season, also raises concerns about the political motives behind such gestures. Critics argue that this act of charity is less about genuine compassion and more about securing political favor, especially in light of the ongoing economic challenges and discontent within the population.

A Controversial Christmas Gift

While the donation of rice to care homes might be viewed by some as an admirable act of generosity, it remains overshadowed by the broader issues of governance that continue to plague Mnangagwa’s administration. Corruption, human rights violations, and political violence are not easily forgotten, especially when they persist despite claims of reform and development.

For many, the “early Christmas present” from the President is not a cure for the deeper ailments afflicting Zimbabwe. Until the issues of corruption and political violence are addressed with real, meaningful change, such charitable acts will remain tainted by the dissonance between the government’s words and actions.

In the end, the rice may feed a few, but it is unlikely to heal the divisions and deep-rooted grievances that continue to define Zimbabwe’s political landscape under Mnangagwa’s rule.

Gems Shine…

The Zimbabwe netball team, the Gems, showcased their dominant form at the 2024 Africa Nations Cup, securing a resounding 78-27 victory over Eswatini in their second Pool B match in Swakopmund, Namibia.

From the very start, the Gems took control, racing to a 20-6 lead in the opening quarter. Captain Felistas Kwangwa led her team with poise and precision, ensuring they maintained their momentum in the second quarter, extending the lead to 39-13 by halftime.

Eswatini struggled to keep up, and despite their efforts, they could not come close to matching the Gems’ firepower. By the final whistle, Zimbabwe had sealed a comfortable win with a 78-27 scoreline.

Next, the Gems will face hosts Namibia in their final Pool B match, aiming to extend their winning streak and secure a spot in the semifinals.

Will VR and AR Be More Mainstream in 2025?

As we near 2025, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies show great promise. They are becoming an important part of daily life. VR and AR have already influenced many industries. These include gaming, education, and healthcare, but there are some questions surrounding them.

The Current State of VR and AR Technology

VR puts users in fully digital worlds, and they usually need a headset and controllers. AR adds digital stuff to the real world. People often use it on smartphones or AR glasses.

Training simulations also spark big interest. Fields like aviation, medicine, and military defense benefit from this tech. AR appears more in everyday apps. For example, it is useful when people want to see products in retail and real estate in a new and refreshing way.

Both technologies are still not in every home. However, improvements in hardware and software are happening. Better content development is also helping, and it opens a door to more widespread use.

Drivers of Widespread Adoption

Better Hardware

Improved hardware plays a big role in the wider use of VR and AR. VR headsets are getting lighter, more comfortable, and cheaper. The Meta Quest 3 headset offers high quality at a lower price compared to previous models. This makes it easier for people to try VR.

AR glasses, once large and awkward, now look and work better. These changes make more people interested in purchasing a VR or an AR device.

Expanding Content and Applications

VR and AR require a lot of content choices to become popular with everyone. VR content includes more than just gaming. It also covers movies, concerts, and virtual tourism. These experiences are becoming increasingly immersive and varied.

AR finds uses in healthcare, retail, and education, but also with the Apple Vision Pro headset, you can play interactive games or visit a virtual live casino. These fields discover new methods to weave AR into everyday life. AR applications let people see products before buying. Users are able to try fashion and makeup virtually.

Integration with Other Technologies

VR and AR technologies are merging with other advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G. AI creates personalized and responsive experiences. The low-latency speeds of 5G create smoother VR and AR interactions. These combined technologies may increase the appeal of VR and AR.

Challenges to Mainstream Adoption

Despite the exciting possibilities, VR and AR probably won’t be completely mainstream by 2025 because of several obstacles.

Cost and Accessibility

Even with lower prices, VR and AR devices are still expensive for many people. High-end VR headsets often cost hundreds of dollars. This is a big problem for people who use them just for fun. To become truly mainstream, the prices have to keep dropping.

Content Limitations

VR and AR content libraries are expanding, but they remain very limited compared to television, video streaming, or mobile gaming. Content creators must develop diverse, high-quality experiences for both niche and general audiences if they want to be successful.

VR and AR need more exciting content to gain wider use.

User Comfort and Experience

VR often causes discomfort or motion sickness for some users, which limits its widespread adoption. There have been improvements, especially with higher refresh rates and better tracking systems. However, user comfort remains a challenge. In AR, ensuring devices are lightweight and barely noticeable is key. AR devices must provide a smooth user experience and should not distract from daily tasks.

Final Thoughts

VR and AR might become mainstream in 2025. It largely depends on how the industry tackles the barriers to adoption. Progress in hardware, content, and its integration with other technologies is crucial. These advances will make these immersive technologies more accessible to people.

Chaos In Harare Police Caught On Camera

Dear Editor

The bustling street was alive with activity, but the atmosphere suddenly shifted when council and police officers stormed in, their movements urgent and aggressive. They had been chasing someone through the crowded area, their eyes scanning every face, but their target slipped away into the sea of people. Frustrated and unwilling to leave empty-handed, they began grabbing random individuals, their actions fueled by anger and desperation.

Onlookers watched in disbelief as innocent bystanders were accosted, their protests growing louder with each unjustified act of aggression. “This is wrong!” someone shouted, their voice echoing through the street. Others joined in, yelling at the officers to stop, to reconsider their actions.

Among the crowd was a man, just walking by, minding his own business. He wasn’t part of the chase, nor had he raised his voice, but he caught their attention. Perhaps it was the way he moved, or perhaps he was simply an easy target in their line of sight. The officers turned their focus on him, their frustration redirected. The chaos intensified as people yelled in his defense, but the scene was already spiraling out of control.

It was a moment that laid bare the tension between authority and community—a confrontation sparked by misplaced actions and fueled by the crowd’s growing sense of injustice.

Tshabangu Throws Heavy Stones At Welsh

By Political Reporter- The disputed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu, has vowed that faction leader Welshman Ncube will not succeed in challenging his authority.

Tshabangu’s defiant response came after Welshman Ncube, along with deputy leader Lynette Karenyi Kore, Sesel Zwidzai, and Edwin Mushoriwa, filed an urgent High Court application seeking to block his decision to remove CCC Members of Parliament from key parliamentary committee positions.

In a bold statement posted on his X account, Tshabangu declared:
“I wish to make it clear that anyone from the opposition who doesn’t tow the line of development will be removed from influential positions. We’re a serious formation that is results-oriented. Those who think they can reverse it through courts are surely mistaken and won’t win any case.”

Tshabangu assumed control of the CCC following the contentious 2023 general elections and is accused of leveraging his position to orchestrate sweeping reshuffles of parliamentary portfolio committee leadership, allegedly cementing loyalty among his allies.

The High Court case filed by Ncube and his co-applicants lists Tshabangu, National Assembly Speaker Jacob Mudenda, and Senator Nonhlahla Mlotshwa—whom Tshabangu controversially appointed as CCC Chief Whip—as respondents.

In their application, the applicants challenge the constitutionality of Tshabangu’s actions, arguing that they exceed his mandate and contravene party rules and court orders.

Among the contested decisions are removing CCC representatives from the influential Standing Rules and Orders Committee (SROC) and the reshuffling of key parliamentary committees.

Ncube’s affidavit highlights Tshabangu’s alleged defiance of a prior court order prohibiting him from recalling party members.

He contends that the reshuffles are tantamount to disguised recalls and do not reflect the party’s collective will.

“His actions are a frolic of his own,” stated Ncube. “He is a non-entity, and it is surprising that the Speaker continues to entertain him instead of respecting the party’s collective stance.”

Critics within the CCC have also accused Tshabangu of undermining the party’s unity, with his unilateral actions fueling a leadership crisis.

While the matter awaits a court hearing—no date has been set—the CCC remains mired in its most significant leadership dispute to date.

The party faces mounting challenges to maintain cohesion amid allegations of internal sabotage and power struggles.

Observers argue that the outcome of the legal battle could redefine the CCC’s internal governance and set a precedent for how authority is exercised within Zimbabwe’s opposition politics.

Mai Titi Issues Violence-Threats Against Young Ritz

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | In a shocking tirade, socialite and controversial public figure Felistas Murata has unleashed a series of scathing remarks and threats directed at young actor Ritz, sparking widespread concern and heated debate online. The heated statement, laced with personal attacks and aggressive language, has left many questioning the limits of celebrity feuds in the public eye.

Murata, known for her outspoken and often unfiltered demeanor, lashed out at Ritz, accusing her of incessantly discussing her personal life, including her marital affairs and past criminal record. In an unprovoked rant, Murata declared, “I’ve never stooped so low to ask for a pamper. How many times has she talked about me? She keeps talking about my criminal record and my marital affairs… yet right now, I am sitting with my husband, Shumba.”

Mai Titi issuing her threat

The socialite’s threats escalated as she directly addressed Ritz, warning of a physical confrontation. “One day, while you are getting interviewed, I will meet you at the doors, and then I will assault you,” Murata threatened. She also went on to make disturbing comments, saying, “I will feed you those same pampers… You keep mentioning my name as if I am related to the people who impregnated you.”

The feud appears to stem from Ritz’s alleged comments about Murata’s personal life, which the socialite claims have been ongoing for years. However, Ritz has not publicly responded to the accusations or the threats at this time.

Public Outrage and Concern

Murata’s statement has sparked outrage and concern among fans and the general public. Social media platforms have been flooded with calls for authorities to intervene, with many arguing that her comments constitute harassment and incitement to violence. Critics have also called for a more constructive approach to resolving celebrity disputes, especially in a public sphere where younger audiences are often exposed to such exchanges.

Some have come to Ritz’s defense, condemning Murata’s comments as unnecessarily cruel and disproportionate. Others have pointed out the need for both parties to address their grievances privately to avoid escalating the feud further.

Why are you so quick to think that it is the truth? Why don’t you wait? Stand your ground. No, don’t do that. You end up making them take advantage of you. The people now know that you are weak they now know that you are those who want to prove a point. Why do we allow people to use us? Let them talk what they want to talk whatever they want to say or speak. Let them speak. Yes if I have been chased. Why should I prove something? I only press live when it is time for work like this. Do you want me to press so that I prove that I am alive? They are saying that I need to post my husband For people to see that he is alive. Have you ever seen my husband? He is a private person he doesn’t like Drama things. They are certain people who will be claiming this and that he doesn’t have to prove a point. Why did you do that? But I don’t want to respond I don’t even want to respond. I just want to live my life the way I want it so don’t come to me and tell me to press live at least post something when you find me in the morning. I haven’t posted anything I don’t want to post anything. That is what things are Simple and clear. We have got other things to do, guys, family, a lot of things. I don’t need to be up every time out there on social media. On some days, you want to tell yourself I want to take a day off. It is like on that day I wasn’t even there the whole day that day when they were saying that I have been assaulted by CIOs, I was not even in the country, I had travelled to order some goods, but people were saying that I’ve been assaulted. They were all lies. There was not even a video why do you believe things when you cannot see anything and you just conclude and say it is true?
We are now afraid to come on Facebook every day do you have to come every morning to show your body; sides, for people to inspect your body? Am I swollen? Am I stressed? For people to treat me like children don’t treat me like that. Now I am now going to be blocking you because you focus on things that really do not matter. Learn to stand for who you love; if you love me you will stand for me whether I am there or not you will stand just like that whether I have not come out, you need to come out yourselves and ask them “yes, so what had you said?” That is what you need to do with people. In a war people do not ask where the commander is
.

Do you know what happens in a war? People call others commanders but soldiers keep advancing. They do not ask themselves where the commander is.

When I came out of prison, I was silent until I got provoked later on you then discover that it is better to focus on your husband who loves you now for some of you who come to my inbox sometimes I end up blocking you at least do a live video they say at least do a live so that people see you but how far would you go to try and prove everything? We’ve got things to do. I can’t be answering people on Facebook. Know your limits. Should I have a day off? The day you were fighting on Facebook I was showing off my cosmetic creams.

You cat family must just be destroying them over there; now listen to me, from now on what we do a sword for a sword a life for a life where you hurt something you must destroy them there me leave me here where I am am do you hear me? My children here? I am okay you must bomb there where they have bumped you bump the return the bumps simple like that an eye for an eye escort for a sword and gun for a gun. Just do that don’t come to my phone. Just throw bombs throw explosive all over return, return the fire before I used to say that cat family do not say anything if a gun comes, an AK47, turn it back, simple; You do not need to go into the bed sheets; we are not weak; Cat family is not for the week it’s not for the emotional. It’s not further. We are not fainthearted we are the bandits if you have a light heart get out of the cat family get out of the cat family because it is for bandits it is for warriors. It is not for people who are cowards. Do you understand what a cat is? We are no longer called cat, We are now lying we were promoted from being cat. We are now lion. Have you ever seen a lion? That is intimidated? Have you ever seen a lion? That cries everywhere? Do it over there? Don’t come to my phone asking me Amai Titi are you okay? And flat forth, no, no no for what? Just bomb over there finish them over there don’t come to my phone. Why do you look? What do you look for at my phone? Fix things over there finish them over there. We are the strongest. We are the most strongest ones. why should we be weak? Why should we be scared? Why should we worry? Why should we be scared with things that are nonsense? We abundance guys, we are banded. Why should we lie down? We abundance cat family why should we be stressed saying Mai Titi!? Please, aaah to do what? I don’t want to be forced to do a live video. I will only do it when and where I want. No one tells me to do anything to prove if I am okay or not why should I be ill? My husband knows that I’ve got HIV. Some of you were saying that I am in the blankets sleeping in bed. What did you achieve when I am busy making money? Just bomb there. Not to come here my way. The day when I will want to prove a point with him is the day I will be dressed in that white dress. That is the day, otherwise you will only see him in the stories on Instagram. I don’t want anyone to force me to press live. I only want to live when I am at work. I don’t want to just press live. I don’t press live in order to make money. Some of you are saying I should live. I am not a person who is for gossip. I am somebody who is at work. My page only works for work issues. When you find me answering people, I will only have gotten upset as someone who is made of flesh but later on I regret that why did I respond? And then later my husband you hear him asking?

They do not ask themselves where the commander is.”

Referee Sacked Over Controversial Social Media Remarks

Sports Correspondent

Referee David Coote has been dismissed by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the governing body for English referees.

This decision follows the circulation of a video in which Coote allegedly makes derogatory remarks about Liverpool and their former manager, Jurgen Klopp.

Additionally, Coote faces further scrutiny after photos emerged showing him allegedly sniffing a white powder through a rolled-up US banknote during the 2024 Euro tournament.

In a statement, PGMOL confirmed the dismissal, citing Coote’s actions as a serious breach of his employment contract, rendering his position untenable.

However, the referee’s body emphasized its continued support for Coote, stating: “Supporting David Coote continues to be important to us, and we remain committed to his welfare.

David Coote has a right to appeal the decision to terminate his employment.”

Avoid Eating On The Wheel

Distracted driving is doing another activity that takes the driver’s attention away from driving.

Distracted driving can increase the chance of a motor vehicle crash.

There are three types of driving distractions
Anything that takes your attention away from driving can be a distraction.

Sending a text message, talking on a cell phone, using a navigation system, and eating while driving are a few examples of distracted driving.

Any of these distractions can endanger you, your passengers, and others on the road.

Mphoko Goes Mugabe Way, Snubs Mnangagwa’s Heroes Acre

By Political Reporter- The family of the late former Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has announced that he will not be buried at the National Heroes Acre but instead at his farm, Plot 19 Bulawayo Drive, Douglasdale, Bulawayo.

This decision aligns with Mphoko’s wishes and reflects his family’s commitment to honouring his personal and familial preferences.

Mphoko, who passed away in India, was declared a national hero by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who displaced him in 2017 in a military coup.

His decision to forgo burial at the National Heroes Acre resonates with the burial controversy surrounding the late former President Robert Mugabe, who also refused to be buried at the national shrine after being frustrated by Mnangagwa, who toppled him in a coup.

Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s founding leader, was similarly buried at his rural home in Kutama, Zvimba, after rejecting burial at the National Heroes Acre.

This decision was seen as a symbolic act of defiance against the political establishment led by his successor, Mnangagwa.

The parallels between Mphoko’s and Mugabe’s burial choices highlight the enduring fractures within the country’s ruling elite following the military-led coup in November 2017.

Mphoko served as one of Mugabe’s deputies, along with Mnangagwa, who later displaced him during the coup, which brought him (Mnangagwa) to power.

He was accused of siding with the G40 faction, a group aligned with Mugabe’s wife, Grace Mugabe, and viewed as a political rival to Mnangagwa’s Lacoste faction.

Corruption and political marginalisation allegations further compounded Mphoko’s fallout with Mnangagwa’s administration.

After the coup, Mphoko disappeared from public life.

The decision to bury Mphoko at his farm may reflect a broader disenchantment with the National Heroes Acre, which some families view as politically compromised.

For many, the burial site symbolises allegiance to the ruling elite rather than a genuine acknowledgement of one’s contributions to Zimbabwe’s liberation and development.

Woman Raped After Falling Prey To Online Job Scam

By A Correspondent
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned the public to exercise extreme caution when responding to job postings and dating requests on social media after a 20-year-old woman was sexually abused in Seke.

The woman had responded to a fake job posting for a bar sales position and was lured to a secluded location where she was attacked.

The ZRP emphasized that these scams often appear legitimate but are designed to exploit and harm innocent individuals.

Additionally, the ZRP has previously warned against fake messages circulating on social media, urging the public to disregard them and verify information through official channels.

Harare Land Scandal: Mnangagwa Has A Case To Answer –President Chamisa

By A Correspondent

Opposition leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa, has hit back at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s efforts to drag him into the controversial land allocation issues at Harare City Council.

Below is Advocate Chamisa’s full response:

On Monday, I was summoned to testify before (Rtd) Justice Maphosa Cheda at the Harare City Commission inquiry, a forum established by President Mnangagwa.

While I hold serious reservations about the legitimacy and impartiality of this Commission, I agreed to attend out of courtesy and in my capacity as an advocate for justice, and as someone committed to upholding the rule of law.

The Commission sought my response to allegations purportedly made by a councillor who allegedly connected my name with the “regularisation process” at the Harare City Council. These claims suggest my involvement in what has now become a major controversy within the city’s land allocation system.

I was quick to clarify that I have no involvement in such matters. I am not a member of the city council, nor am I part of local government. I hold no position in municipal affairs, and the Urban Councils Act clearly dictates that local governance decisions are made within the council framework, not by outside individuals or political parties.

At the hearing, an audio recording was played, allegedly featuring a councillor mentioning my name in connection with these issues. The recording, however, was poorly presented and of questionable authenticity, having been played from a mobile phone. Its reliability was therefore highly suspect, raising serious doubts about its credibility.

Despite the flaws in the presentation, I responded in good faith, hoping to avoid further discrediting the Commission. Let me be clear: I do not recognize the councillor in question, nor do I acknowledge the credibility of the claims made. Interestingly, the same recording also mentioned Mr Mnangagwa’s name, yet I was the one called to testify. I pointed out that if my name was being invoked based on this dubious audio, surely the same should apply to Mr Mnangagwa, whose name was also mentioned.

This situation highlights a fundamental legal principle: he who alleges must provide evidence. It is a grave injustice to summon individuals based on unproven allegations without substantiating claims with factual evidence.

As a human rights advocate, I must also condemn the widespread destruction of homes in Harare. The practice of bulldozing people’s homes is not only illegal but morally indefensible. It is a direct violation of basic human rights, and it represents a complete failure of leadership. This is not governance, it is a cruel and inhumane attack on the vulnerable.

This is not the first time such a commission has been used as a diversion. In 2018, following the disputed national elections, Mr. Mnangagwa established the Motlanthe Commission. I was summoned before it on a matter that had no direct bearing on me. Now, in 2023, the same strategy seems to be playing out again, with me being dragged into issues that are far beyond my control or responsibility.

This is not the way to address the country’s real challenges. The crisis we face cannot be solved by targeting innocent people through orchestrated inquiries. What is needed is real accountability and a genuine effort to confront the systemic issues at the heart of this corruption.

The root causes of the crisis—corruption, maladministration, and gross incompetence—are undermining our cities, towns, and the nation as a whole. These systemic failures must be confronted, and those responsible must be held accountable. Local governance has become an arena for incompetence and impunity, and it is time to end the cycle of failure. The true culprits, including those at the highest levels of government, must answer for their role in this crisis.

Former Mugabe Aide Steals Agricultural Inputs

By A Correspondent

Kudzai Chipanga, the former Zanu PF youth leader who was once a close aide to the late President Robert Mugabe, has been arrested for allegedly stealing agricultural inputs worth US$11,000.

The arrest occurred on December 9, 2024, and the charges have stirred significant attention, given Chipanga’s prominent political past.

Chipanga, who held an influential position within the ruling party during Mugabe’s regime, appeared before the Rusape Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

He was granted bail of $400, pending the determination of his case.

The value of the stolen items is estimated at US$11,000, a significant sum that could have been used to support local farming initiatives in the country.

Chipanga’s arrest has raised eyebrows due to his previously high-profile role in Zimbabwean politics.

As a former youth leader of Zanu PF, he had been a strong supporter of Mugabe’s policies, including those that often centered on land reform and agricultural production.

His involvement in the theft of farming inputs highlights a stark contrast to the role he once played in promoting agricultural growth.

The case has sparked public interest, particularly given the widespread challenges faced by Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector, which has struggled with issues such as land reform, climate change, and economic hardship.

The theft of crucial agricultural resources, such as those involved in this case, has the potential to further exacerbate food insecurity in the country.

Devine Bus Conductor Shot Dead In SA

Johannesburg, South Africa – Amed robbers have gunned down a Divine Stars Logistics bus employee Wednesday morning at the New Town Cross Border Bus Rank.

Eyewitnesses reported that the robbers ambushed the bus, robbed passengers and crew, and shot the unnamed bus operator in cold blood.

The assailants then poured petrol on the bus and set it ablaze, reducing it to ashes.

One eyewitness expressed grief, saying, “It’s so sad. May the Zimbabwean brother rest in peace. Please be safe and avoid carrying large sums of money, especially during this festive season. If you must travel, send money to your destination beforehand. Evil-doers always take advantage of this time of year.”

Cross-border buses transporting passengers between South Africa and neighbouring countries, including Zimbabwe, are common targets for armed robbers, particularly during the festive season.

This period is marked by increased travel, with many people carrying cash, gifts, and other valuables, making them attractive to criminals.

Robbers often ambush buses at remote spots or busy terminals, where they can act quickly and escape undetected.

Sometimes, they impersonate passengers or stage breakdowns to lure unsuspecting vehicles.

The crimes range from robbery and assault to arson and murder, leaving victims traumatized.

Authorities often struggle to curb these crimes due to limited policing resources and corruption.

Travellers are urged to remain vigilant, avoid carrying large sums of cash, and prioritize safety by using reliable operators and secure channels for transferring money.

Understanding Wicknell and His Money as Ambiguous Influence in Zimbabwe

By Takura Zhangazha | Controversial Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has been quite literally dishing out both luxury and basic utility cars to celebrities and individuals at an alarming rate. Both unilaterally or upon social media requests/ pleas from long known celebrities.

He has also been helping, at least according to his social media accounts and some media reports, well known national figures in their times of medical, accommodation or welfare needs.

This is a very interesting political and social development in our country. Both by way of its meaning and also how it is popularly perceived by many urban and rural Zimbabweans. Some of whom have actually joined social media to make their claims to whatever fortune they think he has in order to help with both deep or abstract social problems them may be facing.

I will not mention names (tisataure mazita) but indeed a good number of local celebrities in the sporting, music and film entertainment circles have been recipients of his astounding ‘generosity’.

Officially I know of one legendary one who has stubbornly refused at least two offers while asking questions as to where the money is coming from.

An issue that for now, is probably falling on the deaf ears of our now very national and populist ‘mbinga syndrome’.

Almost as though we are all hymning in the back of our minds that again popular song from Marshall Munhumumwe and the Four Brothers, “Ane Mari Ndiye Mukuru’ (literal translation- he who has the money is the eldest).

For those that are in mainstream media, civil society, opposition politics and social media influencers against corruption or shady relationships between the state and individuals, this should have been relatively easy anti-corruption activity material.

Except that it has not been off the mark as anticipated. Neither will it be in the short term.

When you have popular both historically and in the present sports, culture and journalistic celebrities gratefully receiving gifts in cash or ‘car’ kind from Chivayo, there is limited ground to gain counter narrative popular traction against it. Mainly because it is a difficult task to challenge our new found Zimbabwean ‘Mbinga Syndrome’.

As argued above, a greater majority of Zimbabweans are not really seeking an understanding of the importance of societal equitability in the country as an ideal. Let alone understand the massive national socio-economic inequalities that we are faced with in the contemporary and the foreseeable future.

We generally tend to have a perception that whoever has made their money, however they have made it, let them use it how they wish. Except where it relates to political partisanship and factions.

Moreso if they are going to be somehow philanthropic by starting for example a football club that wins promotion to the national Premier league, or construct multiple boreholes or in the much more publicized Chivayo cases, help artists, musicians and others in their vehicular or other needs. While supporting one faction of either Zanu Pf or the CCC and whatever remains of it. Things that the Mbingas themselves do not hide either side of the political divide.

In our own non-partisan political instance we do not ask about the source of these individual’s incomes as much as we would even want to. Either for fear of being excluded or for fear of being sued and in the last instance for a final lack of actual evidence of wealth related to corruption after acquittals of these individuals at the highest Zimbabwean court levels. And as usual criminal defamation charges that still subtly hang over us today.

But our desire to receive gifts and generosity for one real or perceived problem is not limited to our celebrities only. And besides given our dire economic circumstances, particularly for young and gendered Zimbabweans, there is no time to ask a religious pastor throwing around United States dollars in a street in Chitungwiza or Kwekwe where he got the money from.

The pertinent and quite violent issue is to grab as much as you can while it is being thrown out of a moving vehicle while shouting ‘Mbinga Mbinga!’

So what we have now obtaining is a very complicated culture around wealth, access to it, and celebrity induced misunderstanding of how to get rich quick that can be recognized in one social media message by a ‘Mbinga’ to your favourite musician, footballer or any other person who either has national gravitas. Or has serious personal problems that social media users ask for help for.

Our political and economic realities however indicate that this is highly unsustainable. It is an almost a live for the moment sort of situation. Yes you can get a vehicle from the “Mbinga’. Questions arise as to you did you even want it? Or if you are allowed to sell it? Or even get support to maintain it?

And before comrades accuse me of jealousy, vehicles are essentially just that. Especially if they are donations. As are mansions that even if you build them, if you cannot maintain them, they became derelict former castles.

What I have however come to realize with most of us as Zimbabweans is that we tend to live in the moment. Or in the materially immediate. At highly individualized levels in which the only common thread is again our newfound high levels of individualism.

And its easy for those that are linked to state resources, especially after the Fast Track Land Reform Programme (FTLRP) such as urban land barons, miners, “tenderpreneurs”and farmers can create competitive wealth in order to become the new ‘untouchables’. As long as they have proximity to contemporary state power.

So popularly, in both a political and economic sense, barring a major political change in Zimbabwe, the likes of Wicknell Chivayo will be revered as enablers of some sort of individual material progress for celebrities and other national figures.

But if you ask me whether we should fear them for their money? My answer is an easy no. We should fear them for their values and their cross generational individualistic impact. As we are witnessing it in the ghettos and the peri-urban rural areas for now. And we should find ways and means to counter this even if at the moment it seems bleak.

What I also do know is that in the culture and sports industry, if the state was more organic, our legends would not be as materially vulnerable as they are today.

Chiwenga, Mnangagwa Battle Spills Into Zanu PF Youth Wing

By A Correspondent

A fierce factional battle between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, has now spread to the Zanu PF Youth League.

On Monday, Zanu PF Youth League Secretary Tino Machakaire issued a letter announcing changes aimed at undermining his deputy, John Paradza.

However, Paradza swiftly dismissed the letter, declaring it a “nullity.”

A Zanu PF source revealed on Tuesday, “Cdes Machakaire and Paradza will soon fight each other.”

The source continued, explaining that “Youth Secretary Tino Machakaire reshuffled the Youth League National Executive Council on December 9.

On December 10, his deputy Paradza reversed the decision, stating it’s unconstitutional.”

Coup In Zanu PF Youth League

By Political Reporter- The Zanu PF Youth League has been plunged into chaos as a power struggle erupted over an alleged “coup” within its top executive.

Secretary for Youth Affairs Tinoda Machakaire unilaterally reshuffled the executive council, sparking fierce resistance from his deputy, John Paradza.

In a circular dated 09 December 2024, Machakaire announced sweeping changes to key positions, asserting the reshuffle was necessary for fulfilling the league’s constitutional obligations and implementing resolutions from the National People’s Conference.

Among the new appointees were:

  1. Tsungai Makumbe – Secretary for Finance
  2. Phinias Makombe – Secretary for Commissariat
  3. Philippa Mukoko – Secretary for External Relations
  4. Munashe Mtutsa – Secretary for Information
  5. Valeria Makonza – Secretary for Legal Affairs
  6. Garikai Zonde – Secretary for Science and Technology

Machakaire said these changes were effective immediately.

However, Paradza swiftly declared the move unconstitutional, advising the affected officials to ignore the reshuffle.

In a strongly worded memo to Machakaire, Paradza cited Article 25, Section 339 of the Zanu PF Constitution, accusing him of bypassing proper procedures and disregarding the mandate of elected provincial representatives.

Paradza revealed that he had escalated the matter to the party’s Secretary General, Obert Mpofu, seeking intervention to prevent what he described as “unnecessary divisions and tensions” within the league.

He further instructed the reshuffled officials to remain in their posts pending official resolution.

The Youth League’s internal rift comes amid heightened political sensitivity in Zanu PF, raising questions about broader implications for the party’s stability ahead of key national events.

Tshabangu Chopped

By Political Reporter- The Welshman Ncube faction of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has filed an urgent High Court application to block disputed Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu’s controversial actions in Parliament.

Led by Ncube, deputy leader Lynette Karenyi Kore, Sesel Zwidzai, and Edwin Mushoriwa, the CCC faction has named the party as the primary applicant in their case.

Tshabangu, who took control of the CCC after the 2023 general elections, has been accused of using his position to orchestrate a sweeping reshuffle of parliamentary portfolio committee chairpersons to favour his allies.

Critics claim these moves undermine the CCC’s collective authority.

Among the respondents listed in the court papers are Tshabangu, Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda, and Senator Nonhlahla Mlotshwa, who Tshabangu controversially appointed as the CCC Chief Whip.

The applicants are challenging the constitutionality of Tshabangu’s decisions, arguing that they exceed his authority and violate both party rules and court orders.

They seek a declaration nullifying Tshabangu’s recent actions, including the alleged removal of CCC representatives from the Standing Rules and Orders Committee (SROC) and various reshuffles within parliamentary committees.

Ncube’s affidavit emphasizes that Tshabangu’s actions are unilateral and do not reflect the CCC’s collective stance.

He accused Tshabangu of defying an earlier court order barring him from recalling party members, asserting that the reshuffles amount to disguised recalls.
“His actions are a frolic of his own,” stated Ncube. “He is a non-entity, and it is surprising that the Speaker continues to entertain him instead of respecting the party’s collective will.”
The matter is yet to be heard in court, with no date set for the hearing. Until then, the CCC remains embroiled in its deepest leadership crisis to date.

Chamisa Exposes Zanu PF Arrest Plot

By Political Reporter-Advocate Nelson Chamisa has publicly revealed the latest attempts by the Zanu PF regime to entrap him in a legal snare, describing it as a calculated move to arrest and tarnish his image.

On Monday, Chamisa narrowly avoided a potential contempt of court charge by appearing before the Zanu PF-aligned Harare City Commission of Inquiry.

The former opposition leader described the inquiry as a “political trap,” orchestrated under the guise of investigating alleged corruption within the Harare City Council.

Through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Chamisa outlined his experience:
“I was requested to testify before Retired Justice Maphosa Cheda at the Harare City Commission inquiry, a forum set up by Mr. Mnangagwa. Despite reservations about its legitimacy, I obliged as an officer of the court. The proceedings revealed their true intent—another sham inquiry aimed at entangling me in baseless allegations.”

Chamisa explained that an audio recording presented as evidence was poorly executed, raising serious questions about its authenticity.

It featured claims by a councillor, purportedly linking him to council decisions.

Chamisa, however, dismantled the accusations, noting the absence of any legal or procedural basis to involve him, as he holds no formal role in local government.

Critics argue that the state’s goal was to engineer a default by Chamisa, thereby enabling a contempt charge. Chamisa’s attendance thwarted this plan, with the inquiry concluding in under 20 minutes.

Chamisa’s spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba, called the summons “political theatrics” and condemned the regime for wasting public resources:
“Summoning the People’s President highlights Zanu PF’s weaponisation of the law to intimidate the legitimate winner of the 2018 and 2023 Presidential Elections. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe loses $1.2 billion annually to illicit gold flows. Instead of tackling critical issues—such as the energy crisis and collapsing public services—the regime indulges in costly sideshows.”

The inquiry itself has been widely criticised as lacking credibility.

The audio recording, central to the allegations, referred not only to Chamisa but also to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Observers noted the selective targeting of Chamisa while ignoring Mnangagwa’s involvement, further exposing the partisan nature of the commission.

The Harare City Council, under the controversial leadership of Sengezo Tshabangu, has been plagued by instability.

Tshabangu, whose appointment remains disputed, has presided over administrative chaos, including alleged unlawful recalls of councillors aligned with Chamisa’s Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).

Critics have highlighted glaring contradictions in the regime’s strategy.

While Zanu PF attempts to implicate Chamisa in council mismanagement, it has previously endorsed Tshabangu as the legitimate CCC leader.

Chamisa had formally distanced himself from the council’s activities long before the alleged misconduct occurred.

Chamisa’s testimony not only cleared his name but also exposed the inquiry’s flaws.

The opposition leader condemned the broader governance crisis under Zanu PF, stating:
“This is not justice but a systemic leadership failure. These inquiries are distractions from addressing real issues—corruption, maladministration, and the erosion of our towns and cities.”

As Zimbabwe grapples with economic decline and deteriorating public services, Chamisa’s handling of the inquiry has reinforced his position as a resilient figure confronting state persecution.

In a closing remark shared on X, Chamisa declared:
“Another colossal waste of public funds, another sham exposed. Zimbabwe deserves better.”

Welshman versus Tshabangu Court-Fight Over Chamisa’s Own Money, Powers

CCC Members File Urgent Court Application Against National Assembly Speaker and Clerk

Harare – The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and several of its members have filed an urgent court application at the High Court in Harare, seeking a declaratory order and relief against changes made to parliamentary Standing Rules and Orders. The application challenges the legality of the recent amendments that led to their alleged unconstitutional exclusion from parliamentary committees.

Welshman Ncube

The applicants, including Welshman Ncube, Lynette Karenyi, Sessel Zvidzai, and Edwin Mushoriwa, contend that the actions by Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda and Clerk of Parliament Nonkosi Ndlovu violate constitutional provisions. The case, prepared by Mathonsi Ncube Law Chambers, calls for the court to nullify the amendments and restore their positions.

Grounds of the Application

The CCC applicants argue that:

1. The amendments to the Standing Rules and Orders Committee (SROC), passed in December 2024, were enacted in violation of Section 151 of the Constitution, which governs parliamentary procedures.

2. On December 6, 2024, the Speaker allegedly announced unconstitutional changes, replacing members of CCC with individuals who were not nominated by the party.

3. The alterations undermine the proportional representation of political parties in Parliament, as outlined in the Constitution, and unjustly exclude CCC representatives.

4. The Speaker and Clerk of Parliament acted beyond their powers by implementing changes without consulting affected parties.

The application states that the applicants were lawfully entitled to participate in key parliamentary committees and decision-making processes. They allege that their exclusion compromises not only their party’s representation but also the democratic accountability of the legislature.

Relief Sought

The applicants are seeking:

A declaration that the amendments to the SROC and the removal of CCC members were unconstitutional and void.

An order reinstating CCC representatives to their original positions in parliamentary committees.

A prohibition against the Speaker and Clerk of Parliament from making further changes to committee structures without constitutional compliance.

Implications of the Case

This legal battle comes amid growing tensions between the opposition and ruling ZANU PF in Zimbabwe’s Parliament. The CCC has accused the Speaker and other parliamentary officials of using procedural changes to marginalize opposition voices and consolidate ruling party dominance.

If the High Court grants the application, it could set a significant precedent in upholding constitutional provisions on parliamentary representation and the balance of power. Conversely, a dismissal of the application could further strain relations between the CCC and parliamentary leadership.

What’s Next

The High Court is expected to deliberate on the application urgently, given its potential impact on parliamentary operations. Political analysts and citizens alike are closely watching the case, as it underscores broader issues of governance, representation, and adherence to the rule of law in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

Mtumbuka House Win, Illegals Appeal Ruling

Harare – In an unexpected twist, Harrison Marange and his wife, Demetria Zirenga, have filed an appeal to the Supreme Court contesting a High Court ruling that declared them illegal occupants of former Education Minister Dzingai Mutumbuka’s property. The appeal, lodged on December 2, 2024, challenges the November 13 judgment by Justice Priscila Munangati Manongwa, which ordered the couple’s immediate eviction from the property at 90 Harare Drive, Colney Valley, Chisipite.

The couple, represented by Zvavanoda Law Chambers, is seeking to overturn Justice Munangati’s decision, which not only deemed them unlawful occupants but also ordered them to vacate the premises within 15 days and pay the costs of the case. The appeal has effectively delayed their eviction, leaving them in occupation of the disputed property.

Grounds for the Appeal

Marange and Zirenga’s appeal asserts that Justice Munangati erred in ruling against their ownership claim. They maintain that they lawfully purchased the property from a man named Jonah Ngome, whose alleged title deeds were declared fraudulent by the High Court. The couple seeks a Supreme Court order affirming them as the rightful holders of all rights and interests in the property.

In their filing, they argue that the High Court judgment was flawed and seek to have it set aside in its entirety.

Mutumbuka’s Opposition to the Appeal

Dr. Mutumbuka, the former Education Minister and the confirmed legal owner of the property by the High Court, has vehemently opposed the appeal. Represented by Sawyer Mkushi Legal Practitioners, he has also approached the High Court to expedite the eviction ordered by Justice Munangati.

In his response to the Supreme Court, Dr. Mutumbuka’s lawyers described the couple’s appeal as an “abuse of court process” and “defective” on multiple legal grounds. They have called for the withdrawal of the Supreme Court application, stating that its outcome would not overturn Justice Munangati’s original judgment.

Fraudulent Title Deeds and Key Ruling

Justice Munangati’s ruling declared that Marange and Zirenga have no legitimate claim to the property, emphasizing that they lack the title deeds necessary to establish ownership. The court also highlighted the absence of Jonah Ngome, the alleged seller, who has failed to appear in court to substantiate the couple’s claim. Furthermore, the judge ruled that Ngome’s purported title deed is a forgery and ordered its removal from the Registrar of Deeds’ records.

What Lies Ahead

As the case now heads to the Supreme Court, legal experts note the high stakes involved. The outcome could set a significant precedent for property ownership disputes in Zimbabwe, particularly where fraudulent documentation and contested ownership claims are involved.

For now, the appeal allows Marange and Zirenga to remain at the property, but Dr. Mutumbuka’s legal team remains confident in their position. With a counter-motion to enforce the High Court’s eviction order already in progress, the legal battle is far from over.

The property dispute continues to draw public attention, highlighting critical issues around fraudulent property transactions and the enforcement of judicial decisions. The nation now awaits the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter.

Mthuli Ncube Performs U-Turn On Taxes

Harare – In a significant development for Zimbabwe’s economic policy, Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion Minister, Professor Mthuli Ncube, has announced that Treasury is open to revisiting some of the controversial tax measures outlined in the 2025 National Budget. Speaking at the 2025 post-budget breakfast meeting in Harare on Monday, Ncube acknowledged growing concerns from captains of industry, commerce, and economists, signaling potential changes to key taxation policies.

Minister Ncube revealed that Treasury has initiated studies to assess the impact of specific taxes on businesses, particularly the intermediated money transfer tax (IMTT), popularly known as the 2% tax. “We have directed the Treasury to do a study on the impact of the intermediated money transfer tax on businesses, and we are ready to review based on the results of the studies,” he said. He urged businesses to continue submitting their views, adding, “We have January and the midterm policy review, where we could make some adjustments based on actual facts on the ground.”

Industry Concerns on IMTT

The IMTT, a 2% tax on all electronic money transfers, has faced widespread criticism from business leaders who argue that it has hurt profitability, reduced sales, and eroded competitiveness. Additionally, the tax is blamed for increasing operational costs, including those associated with staff, electricity, rentals, and other overheads.

While defending the introduction of the taxes as measures aimed at boosting the economy, Ncube acknowledged the need to strike a balance between revenue collection and sustaining business operations. “The tax measures are meant for the good of the economy, including addressing health issues, protecting local industries, and supporting environmental initiatives,” he explained.

Green Taxes and Industry Protection

Highlighting some of the progressive elements of the budget, Minister Ncube pointed to the introduction of taxes aimed at promoting environmental sustainability. He noted that while many countries have banned plastic bags, Zimbabwe opted for a surtax on plastic bags to protect local industries. “I resisted calls to shut down companies producing plastic bags and instead introduced a surtax to avoid killing industries,” he said.

He also defended the recently introduced fast-food tax, describing it as a measure to bridge funding gaps in the health sector, which faces challenges due to shifting global funding priorities.

Supporting Green Energy and Local Manufacturing

Ncube outlined additional measures aimed at promoting green energy and reducing import dependency. He highlighted incentives for developing charging stations for electric vehicles, part of a broader plan to align Zimbabwe with global trends. The minister also emphasized incentives for local manufacturing, particularly in the automotive sector, including car and bus assembly. “These efforts are designed to stimulate local industry and reduce reliance on imports,” Ncube said.

Potential Tax Adjustments in 2025

The finance minister’s remarks suggest a willingness to engage with stakeholders and revisit contentious taxes as part of the midterm fiscal review.

Mujaya Declines Chivayo Car Offer

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean rapper Holy Ten has intensified his beef with controversial businessman and “tenderpreneur” Wicknell Chivayo, accusing him of attempting to buy his support with an insulting offer.

The conflict centers around Chivayo’s proposition to gift Holy Ten a luxury car in exchange for backing the ruling party during the last Zimbabwean elections. However, Holy Ten rejected the offer, calling it deeply offensive.

“I support the president, but I don’t support the president so that I get a GLE,” Holy Ten stated. “The fact that you are even telling me you wanted to buy me a GLE is insulting. If someone wants to buy me a car, they need to start at the G-Wagon.”

Holy Ten’s remarks come amid his growing frustration with Chivayo, a businessman known for his close ties to the government. Chivayo’s offer of a Mercedes-Benz GLE was seen by the rapper as an attempt to secure his political allegiance, but Holy Ten has made it clear that he is not interested in such materialistic gestures.

The exchange highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding wealth, power, and political influence in Zimbabwe, with Holy Ten pushing back against attempts to buy his loyalty. His comments also reflect his stance on authenticity and integrity, making it clear that his support cannot be bought.

“I’m not someone who is swayed by material things,” Holy Ten emphasized. “If you want my support, it should come from a place of true understanding, not just because you can offer me a car.”

This clash between Holy Ten and Chivayo has sparked further debate about the intersection of politics and celebrity culture in Zimbabwe, with many watching closely to see how the feud unfolds.

Bulawayo Revives Rhodesian Policy Of Repossessing Leased Shops

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe — The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has announced the revival of a 2007 resolution mandating the repossession of council-leased shops whose tenants have exceeded a 10-year tenure. The policy, originally intended to ensure fair distribution of commercial spaces, had faced delays and resistance since its inception.

First passed on December 5, 2007, the resolution was shelved after backlash from business groups. A renewed enforcement attempt in 2017 met a similar fate, stalling progress. However, recent discussions by the council’s finance and economic development committee have reignited efforts to implement the measure.

During a September meeting of the sub-committee on the allocation of stands and premises for development, the idea of introducing a fresh policy to cap lease periods was debated. Ultimately, it was noted that the existing 2007 resolution already provided a suitable framework. The committee resolved to enforce the existing policy rather than craft a new one.

Councillor Ntandoyenkosi Ndlovu, chairperson of the sub-committee, sought clarification on the eviction process under the policy. In response, the council’s valuer and estates manager, Mr. Thabani Ncube, recommended a gradual approach. He advised issuing written notices to tenants nearing the end of their lease terms and handling cases individually to avoid ethical and logistical issues with immediate evictions.

“Council would rather wait for the lapse of the policy and advise the applicants accordingly. However, a notice in writing would be issued as a reminder of the new policy when applicants sought the renewal of leases,” said Mr. Ncube.

The council has since reaffirmed the resolution, paving the way for its enforcement.

New Leasing Opportunities Announced

In parallel, BCC has advertised a tender inviting bids for various business premises across Bulawayo, including tuck shops, kiosks, industrial stands, and social clubs. This initiative is expected to boost the city’s economic growth while addressing equitable access to council-leased properties.

Available properties include six tuck shops at primary schools in Nkulumane, Emganwini, Manondwane, and Aisleby Farm, two kiosks at Barbourfields Stadium and Borrow Swimming Pool, and a service station in Barham Green.

Nine service industry stands in Emakhandeni, Luveve, and Cowdray Park are up for lease, targeting ventures like hair salons, grinding mills, gas retailing, and welding. Additionally, six factory shells in Kelvin North industrial area are on offer for activities such as carpentry, tailoring, pottery, and electrical repairs.

Other opportunities include leased shops in Makokoba and Njube, a primary school site in Montrose, and two social clubs in North End. One club will focus on amateur sports and social activities, while the other will be dedicated to basketball.

Promoting Economic Growth and Fair Access

The revived resolution and new leasing opportunities aim to ensure equitable access to council-leased properties while fostering local entrepreneurship. This move aligns with the council’s commitment to addressing longstanding challenges and unlocking economic potential in Bulawayo.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to participate in the tender process to help drive economic development and create a more inclusive business environment.

Mnangagwa In Plot To Arrest Chamisa

By A Correspondent

Opposition leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa, has responded to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s desperate attempts to implicate him in the Harare City Council land saga.

Below is Advocate Chamisa’s full response:

On Monday, I was called to testify before (Rtd) Justice Maphosa Cheda at the Harare City Commission inquiry, a forum established by Mr. Mnangagwa.

While I have reservations about the legitimacy of the Commission, I agreed to appear out of courtesy and in my capacity as an officer of the Court and advocate for justice.

The Commission sought my response to claims allegedly made by a councillor, who supposedly mentioned my name in connection with the so-called “regularisation process” of the Harare City Council.

I made it clear: I have no locus standi to comment on local authority matters. I am neither a councillor, mayor, nor a local government official, and I am not part of the central government. Urban councils are statutory bodies governed by the Urban Councils Act, and decisions are made by council committees or full council motions—not by external actors or political parties.

An audio recording was played at the hearing, purportedly of the councillor referring to me as a party leader. Its amateurish presentation, played from a phone, raised questions about its authenticity and reliability.

Despite these concerns, I responded to avoid embarrassing the Commission. For the record, I would not recognise the councillor in question if we met face-to-face. The voice on the recording also mentioned Mr. Mnangagwa. I pointed out that if my presence was deemed necessary based solely on this audio, then the same courtesy should surely be extended to Mr. Mnangagwa, whose name was also mentioned.

The principle is clear: he who alleges must prove. It is unjust to summon individuals based on unsubstantiated claims. The law demands evidence, not baseless accusations.

I wish to make it clear: as a human rights defender, a champion of justice, and a steadfast constitutionalist, I strongly condemn the destruction of people’s homes. Using bulldozers to erase lives and livelihoods is criminal, sadistic, and inhumane. This is not justice; it is a testament to systemic leadership failure and a mockery of human rights.

This is not the first time a Commission has been used as a diversion from addressing real issues. In 2018, Mr. Mnangagwa established the Motlanthe Commission following disputed general elections. I was summoned before the Commission over a matter that had nothing to do with me. Now, in 2023, the same pattern is repeating, with me being drawn into issues far beyond my purview.

This governance crisis cannot be resolved through malicious intent or unwarranted targeting of innocent individuals via commissions. It requires genuine accountability and decisive action to address the root causes.

Corruption, maladministration, and poor governance are eroding our towns, cities, and the country as a whole. These cancers must be eradicated. Local governance has become a theatre of incompetence and impunity. It is a crisis compounded by a small group that weaponizes inquiries to distract from its own failures. It is time to hold accountable those who are truly responsible for this decay.

Brazilians Unveil New Coach

By A Correspondent

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the appointment of Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso as their new head coach, replacing Manqoba Mngqithi.

Cardoso’s unveiling took place at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, marking the start of his tenure at the Pretoria-based club. The Portuguese manager had been linked with Sundowns earlier in the season, initially as a potential replacement for the outgoing Rulani Mokwena.

Despite Mngqithi leading the team to the top of the Betway Premiership standings, his dismissal comes after a series of disappointing results in domestic cup competitions. Sundowns were eliminated from the MTN8 by Stellenbosch in the semifinals and suffered defeat in the Carling Knockout final against Magesi FC. Additionally, the team has struggled in the CAF Champions League, with no wins from their first two matches.

While Mngqithi has been let go, Steve Komphela and Kennedy Mweene will continue in their roles within the new coaching setup.

Inflation Goes Past 1000% Mark

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwe’s inflation rate has hit a staggering 1027% per year, making it the highest in the world, according to renowned American economic analyst Professor Steve Hanke.

In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Professor Hanke sharply criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership, linking the country’s economic woes to his policies.

“Today, I measure Zimbabwe’s inflation at 1027%/yr. This is the WORLD’S HIGHEST INFLATION RATE,” Hanke wrote. “PRES. MNANGAGWA = ARROGANT, CORRUPT, & INCOMPETENT.”

Hanke, who is a professor of applied economics at Johns Hopkins University, has long been vocal about the economic mismanagement in Zimbabwe.

His latest remarks come amid a spiraling economic crisis that has seen the country struggle with skyrocketing inflation, unemployment, and a collapsing currency.

The inflation rate is measured using the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which tracks the price changes of a broad range of goods and services. Hanke’s report points to the severe economic instability resulting from a combination of factors, including over-expansionary fiscal policies that have flooded the economy with excessive money supply.

“The strong link between fiscal deficit and money growth in Zimbabwe, especially since 1997, suggests that over-expansionary fiscal policy is often at the heart of the hyperinflationary trend in the country,” said Hanke.

He further explained that high fiscal deficits lead to rapid money growth, which in turn fuels hyperinflation.

Zimbabwe’s economic crisis can be traced back to policies that have exacerbated the country’s debt and deficit, leading to a vicious cycle of devaluation and price hikes.

Despite these dire economic conditions, President Mnangagwa’s government has failed to take significant corrective measures, according to Hanke and other critics.

Professor Hanke’s criticism of Mnangagwa’s leadership is not new.

He has repeatedly accused the Zimbabwean president of being incapable of addressing the underlying causes of the country’s economic collapse, blaming corruption and poor governance for the nation’s ongoing struggles.

“The government’s failure to tackle the root causes of inflation and economic mismanagement is the primary reason why Zimbabwe remains mired in crisis,” Hanke concluded, urging for urgent reforms and a focus on sound fiscal policy to avert further economic decline.

As inflation continues to devastate Zimbabwe’s economy, the international community, including economists like Hanke, continues to voice concern over the regime’s ability to steer the country toward recovery. The call for change has grown louder, with many now questioning the competence and integrity of the leadership.

Zimbabweans Gain Path to Seize ED, Kamlesh Pattni’s Billions Following US Sanctions

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | In a seismic development, dispossessed Zimbabweans now have a legal pathway to target and reclaim billions of dollars and gold stashed abroad by Kamlesh Pattni, a business partner of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The announcement comes in the wake of sweeping sanctions imposed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on Pattni and his global network of businesses for their involvement in corruption and gold smuggling.

The sanctions, announced on International Anti-Corruption Day, are the culmination of a multi-year investigation led by ZimEye News Network and Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit. The investigation, spanning 2015 to 2023, exposed Pattni’s elaborate schemes to siphon off Zimbabwe’s natural resources through bribery, fraud, and money laundering for the purpose of rigging elections.

Kamlesh Pattni

A Path for Asset Seizure

U.S. sanctions on Pattni mirror global moves against illicit wealth, including the freezing and forfeiture of Russian oligarchs’ assets following sanctions over the Ukraine war. Legal experts suggest Zimbabweans and other affected parties can pursue similar actions to reclaim Pattni’s offshore wealth, potentially valued in billions.

The development is happening at a time when Mnangagwa’s ambassador Uebert Angel has fled UK for Zimbabwe and sworn that he will die upon returning to Britain.

Precedents, such as a £236,815.15 forfeiture against a UK scammer, underscore the possibility of attaching Pattni’s assets under U.S. and UK sanctions regimes. These measures target funds derived from corruption, enabling victims to recover stolen wealth through court-enforced forfeiture orders.

Pattni’s Web of Corruption

The U.S. Treasury detailed Pattni’s operations, accusing him of orchestrating a “global gold smuggling and money laundering network” that exploited Zimbabwe’s natural resources. By bribing officials and deploying trusted associates, Pattni concealed his illicit activities through a complex web of companies in jurisdictions such as the UAE, Singapore, and the British Virgin Islands.

Key to Pattni’s schemes was his use of trusted supporters, including relatives and close allies, to mask ownership and facilitate illegal transactions. Among his front companies are Sun Multinational DMCC, Fiza Gold and Bullion Trading LLC, and numerous others, all implicated in smuggling and laundering funds derived from Zimbabwean gold exports.

Zimbabwe’s Dispossessed Citizens Stand to Benefit

The sanctions highlight the systemic looting of Zimbabwe’s natural wealth, depriving its citizens of critical resources for infrastructure, education, and economic development. Bradley T. Smith, Acting Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, condemned Pattni’s actions, stating, “Corruption respects no borders, and its consequences are felt worldwide. These sanctions demonstrate our commitment to holding these actors accountable.”

Zimbabwean activists and anti-corruption campaigners have welcomed the sanctions, emphasizing that this opens a new chapter for justice and restitution. Pressure is now mounting on the Zimbabwean government to cooperate with international enforcement efforts to recover the stolen wealth.

Next Steps for Justice

Pattni’s designation under Executive Order 13818 freezes all U.S.-linked assets and prohibits transactions with him or his network. Entities and individuals facilitating transactions with Pattni risk secondary sanctions, further isolating his operations.

This landmark action signals hope for Zimbabweans seeking justice and accountability for decades of exploitation. Legal experts urge victims and advocacy groups to act swiftly, leveraging the sanctions to initiate asset recovery and reparations.

As the investigation continues to unfold, the spotlight remains on how Zimbabwe’s government and international partners will collaborate to dismantle Pattni’s network and restore stolen wealth to its rightful owners.

This story is developing, and more updates are expected in the coming weeks.

Gen Chiwenga Voluntary Association Demands Suspension of Paradza

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – The General Chiwenga Voluntary Supporters Association (GCVSA) has issued a fiery statement calling for the immediate suspension of Cde John Paradza. Paradza, accused of advancing a “selfish agenda” for constitutional amendments aimed at extending his faction’s grip on power, faces accusations of betraying ZANU PF principles and sowing seeds of disunity.

In the statement dated December 10, 2024, the GCVSA lauded the recent reshuffle of the Youth League National Executive Council, spearheaded by Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Tino Machakaire, as a “necessary step” to restore discipline and align the party’s youth structures with the revolutionary vision of Zimbabwe under General Constantine Chiwenga. Paradza, who is alleged to act as a “poster boy for the 2030 agenda,” was harshly criticized for his loyalty to what the association described as a “fading agenda.”

The GCVSA’s Secretary-General, Ntokozo Mpisha, emphasized that Paradza’s actions run counter to the interests of both ZANU PF and the nation. The statement firmly called on the ZANU PF Secretary General, Cde Dr. O.M. Mpofu, to take swift action against Paradza to preserve party unity and revolutionary values.

Rally Planned for January 2025

The General Chiwenga Voluntary Supporters Association has announced a major rally to take place at Robert Mugabe Square on January 5, 2025, at 9:00 AM. The event, led by the dedicated Secretary for Commissariat, Cde Jeremiah Nyokayarambohu, is being billed as a unifying moment for all patriotic Zimbabweans who support the vision of General Constantine Chiwenga’s leadership.

The rally is intended to serve as a rallying cry for a brighter future under Chiwenga’s stewardship. In their statement, the GCVSA reiterated their commitment to a “visionary, fearless, and capable leader” who can guide Zimbabwe into a new era of prosperity and unity. The association urged all citizens to attend the rally, promising that it will be a historic moment for Zimbabwe’s revolutionary future.

Bold Declaration of Support

Concluding their statement with the revolutionary cry, “Pamberi naChiwenga! Pasi nevatengesi! Phambili Ngokumkhenyana!” the GCVSA emphasized their unwavering dedication to Chiwenga’s leadership and the people’s revolution. The association declared that the momentum for change cannot and will not be stopped.

As political tensions continue to simmer within ZANU PF, this bold move by the GCVSA has escalated internal party divisions. The demand for Paradza’s suspension and the announcement of the January rally mark a significant development in Zimbabwe’s shifting political dynamics. All eyes are now on the party leadership and Secretary General Dr. O.M. Mpofu to see how they will respond to this mounting pressure.

COS Scam: £226,832.15 Recovered

Northamptonshire Police Secure £226,832 in Alleged COS Scam

In a significant crackdown on financial crime, Northamptonshire Police’s Financial Investigation Unit has successfully obtained an Account Forfeiture order under the Proceeds of Crime Act. This legal action resulted in the seizure of £226,832.15 from a bank account associated with The Partnership Healthcare Group Ltd, managed by its sole director, Mr. Phillimon Makekera.

The order was granted on June 13, 2024, at Northampton Magistrates’ Court following a contested hearing. The police unit demonstrated that the funds in the account either originated from criminal activities or were intended for such use.

This operation is part of the broader Home Office “Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme,” which allows local law enforcement agencies to retain up to 50% of the recovered assets. This initiative not only disrupts criminal enterprises but also provides financial support to policing efforts.

The case underscores the increasing vigilance and proactive measures taken by law enforcement to combat financial fraud and misuse of corporate entities for illicit gains.

Mugabe Youth Leader Arrested

By Political Reporter-Zanu PF Mugabe era youth leader Kudzai Chipanga, has appeared before a Rusape magistrate to face charges of theft involving agricultural inputs valued at US$11,000.

Chipanga gained fame as a vocal and controversial figure in Mugabe’s regime and used his position to intimidate political opponents and citizens.

He became one of the most visible faces of the Zanu PF youth league, often issuing fiery statements and leading campaigns against perceived detractors of Mugabe’s rule.

In the final days of Mugabe’s presidency in late 2017, Chipanga was a key player in the factional battles within the ruling party, aligning himself with the G40 faction led by Grace Mugabe.

The faction sought to elevate Grace as Mugabe’s successor, setting them on a collision course with then-Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the military.

However, the tide turned during the November 2017 military coup that ended Mugabe’s 37-year rule.

Chipanga, who had publicly denounced the army and sided with the embattled G40, found himself humiliated when the military detained him.

Images of a subdued and apologetic Chipanga reading a prepared statement in army custody circulated widely, symbolising the fall of Mugabe’s loyalists.

Chipanga avoided prison time despite his earlier defiance in the coup’s aftermath, which surprised many who had witnessed his brazen behaviour.

The theft charges now before the court mark yet another chapter in his checkered career.

He was granted $400 bail, and Chipanga awaits the court’s determination on his alleged involvement in the theft.

Chamisa Throws Tshabangu Councillors Under The Bus

By Political Reporter- The People’s President Nelson Chamisa has thrown the Sengezo Tshabanhu Harare-led council under the bus, condemning them for abandoning their duties as soon as they are voted into office.

Appearing before the commission of inquiry into the financial affairs of the capital city yesterday, Chamisa denied allegations that he directed councillors to fast-track regularisation of settlements in Harare.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa in May this year appointed the commission led by retired judge Justice Maphios Cheda to investigate financial management systems and audit compliance with the Public Finance Management Act at the local authority.

The commission invited Chamisa to answer to the allegation that he gave a directive to councillors to fast-track land regularisation.
Evidence leader Tabani Mpofu told Chamisa that the commission had evidence that the councillors were teaming up with land barons.
However, Chamisa dismissed the assertions accusing councillors of abusing their mandate after being elected into office.
“Well, I am not aware of that process, but what I am aware of is that there is a lot of tomfoolery and shenanigans within the context of local authorities.
“In fact, what bleeds my heart is the fact that each time councillors are elected on a party ticket the moment they go into council, they go bonkers, run amok, throw away all dictates of reason, throw away all dictates of allegiance and loyalty to the party, which I can’t understand,” he said.
Chamisa also condemned the indiscriminate destruction of houses by council.
“What I am aware of, though, is that people’s houses were being destroyed and I had difficulties appreciating and understanding why a whole council would destroy people’s houses when they, in the first instance, had allowed people to construct those houses,” he said.
“I take umbrage and great exception to people who then choose to undermine the rights of others in terms of the Constitution.
“Naturally, I would have issues with any kind of disposition where people’s houses are destroyed. But as regards processes within the council, I am not a councillor, not a mayor, not even a council official.
“In terms of the Urban Councils Act, there is no way individual citizens can actually have authority over the processes of council.
“Because council is a creature of statutes and council is a product of the law. Anything that happens within the council is governed by statutes, laws and procedures within that council.”
Chamisa said he was not able to control the councillors because parties are not contemplated in the statutes in terms of the running of local authorities.
“We are governed by the electorate. We are governed by the statutes. We are governed by the Urban Councils Act and on that score, then it becomes very difficult to bring to account, especially our councillors.
“I just hope that the commission will appreciate that delinquent characters must, you know, account for their delinquency and name throwing. There are many people who rape in the name of leaders,” he said.
The former opposition leader, who dismissed the August 2023 presidential elections, denied allegations made in a recording where his name was mentioned by a local councillor. “I would never address a few people like a few councillors that have been mentioned. If I were to address, I would address maybe the entirety of the people.
“I am sure the commission within the realm of due diligence was to adduce evidence from him where I say that. Either, voice or written or whatever, because there is always evidence that is supposed to back a claim.
“It is another point I have been asked.  If you were to show me I would not know him. I have over 2 000 councillors.
“If I were to see him I would not know him. There are 2 000 councillors who were under the CCC ticket. I don’t know who is who. I would not know. There’s no reason for me to even address an individual councillor on any matter.” Newsday

Chamisa Full Text Response After Appearing On ED’s Commission

1/ On Monday, I was requested to testify before (Rtd) Justice Maphosa Cheda at the Harare City Commission inquiry, a forum set up by Mr Mnangagwa.

2/ I have reservations about the foundation of the Commission. However, out of courtesy, and being an officer of the Court and Justice, I obliged.

3/ The Commission sought my response to claims purportedly made by a councillor mentioning my name in connection with the so-called “regularisation process” of the Harare City Council.

4/ I made it unequivocally clear: I have no locus to comment on local authority issues. I am neither a councillor, mayor, local government official, nor part of central government. Urban councils are statutory bodies governed by the Urban Councils Act. Decisions arise from council committees or full council motions—not external actors or political parties.

5/ An audio was played at the hearing, said to be of the councillor referring to me as a leader of a party. Its amateurish presentation, played from a phone, raised questions about its authenticity and veracity. Yet, I responded to avoid embarrassing the commission. For the record, I would not recognise the named councillor if we met face to face. The voice on the audio also mentioned Mr Mnangagwa. I pointed out that if my presence was deemed necessary, based merely on this audio, then the same courtesy should surely be extended to Mr Mnangagwa, whose name was also mentioned.

6/ The principle is clear: he who alleges must prove. It is unjust to summon private individuals based on unsubstantiated claims. The law demands evidence, not speculative accusations.

7/ I wish to state the following for the record; as a human rights defender, a justice champion and a consummate constitutionalist, I strongly condemn the destruction of people’s homes. Using bulldozers to erase lives and livelihoods is criminal, sadistic and inhumane. This is not justice; it is evidence a systemic leadership failure and a mockery of human rights.

8/ This is not the first time a commission has been used as a diversion from addressing real issues. In 2018, Mr. Mnangagwa established the Motlanthe Commission following disputed General Elections. I was summoned before the commission over a matter entirely unrelated to me. Now in 2024, the same pattern is repeated, where I am once again being drawn into issues far beyond my purview.

9/ This governance crisis cannot be resolved by malicious intent and unwarranted targeting of innocent individuals through commissions. It requires genuine accountability and action to address the root causes.

10/ Corruption, maladministration, and bad governance are eroding our towns, cities, and country. These cancers must be rooted out. Local governance has become a theatre of incompetence and impunity. It is a crisis compounded by a small grouping that weaponises inquiries to distract from its dire failures. It is time to hold accountable those truly responsible for this decay.

ZANU PF Descends Into Chaos As Leaders Remove Each Other

Chaos Erupts in ZANU PF Youth League as Leadership Clash Deepens By A Correspondent | ZimEye | December 10, 2024 – The ZANU PF Youth League has been plunged into turmoil following a dramatic reshuffle announced by Secretary for Youth Affairs, Tino Machakaire, on December 9. The reshuffle has seen the replacement of key figures in the National Executive Council, citing the need to fulfill constitutional obligations and resolutions of the National People’s Conference. However, the decision has faced immediate pushback, exposing deep divisions within the party. The reshuffle named Cdes Tsungai Makumbe, Phinias Makombe, Philippa Mukoko, Munashe Mtutsa, Valeria Makonza, and Garikai Zonde to new strategic positions, including finance, commissariat, and science and technology. These changes were announced as taking effect immediately. The move was swiftly countered by Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde J. Paradza, in a strongly worded letter dated December 10. Paradza invalidated the reshuffle, accusing Machakaire of bypassing proper party procedures and disregarding constitutional provisions. Paradza cited article 25 and section 339 of the party’s constitution, emphasizing that any adjustments must involve consultations with provinces and respect the mandate given by the National Youth League Conference of 2022. “The purported reshuffle is hereby put on hold until further notice,” Paradza declared, urging the affected leaders to remain in their current positions. He confirmed escalating the matter to Secretary General Cde O. Mpofu, seeking urgent intervention to prevent unnecessary divisions and tensions within the Youth League. The clash has revealed a power struggle within the ZANU PF Youth League, highlighting growing internal discord. Both factions are vying for legitimacy, raising questions about governance within the ruling party’s youth wing. Observers note that this public fallout could signal deeper unrest within the party, as factions maneuver for control in the run-up to key electoral and national events. The situation remains fluid, with both sides holding firm to their positions, awaiting further directives from the Secretary General. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.

Mamelodi Sundowns Appoint New Head Coach

Sports Correspondent

Leave Me Alone: Nelson Chamisa Hits Back at Emmerson Mnangagwa

Mnangagwa Torments Teachers Union Leaders

By A Correspondent

The relentless persecution of leaders from the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) by the Zanu PF regime continues, with recent court proceedings highlighting the ongoing harassment of union officials.

In a statement released on Monday, ARTUZ condemned the government’s actions against its Secretary General, Robson Chere, and other union members.

The union emphasized the unjust nature of the charges brought against them, calling for the immediate dropping of all charges.

“Court Update: Secretary General Robson Chere and Others

Today, our Secretary General, Robson Chere (@robohchere), along with @namataik_, Samuel Gwenzi, @EmmanuelSitima7, Phylis Pikitai, and others, appeared in court facing unfair charges of disorderly conduct,” the statement read.

These charges stem from Chere’s abduction at the airport on 31 July, during which he was tortured and unlawfully detained for 35 days. ARTUZ described these events as a gross violation of human rights and an attempt to silence the union’s advocacy for better working conditions for teachers.

“The state is continuing its attacks on our leaders, using baseless charges to intimidate and oppress them. These are not just accusations; they are part of a systematic effort to crush our union,” the statement continued.

The court proceedings on Monday saw the magistrate delay the ruling on a defense application until 18 December, granting the state additional time to respond. “Justice delayed is justice denied,” the union lamented, stressing that this delay only prolongs the suffering of its members.

ARTUZ has remained resolute, demanding that the charges be dropped and calling on the international community to stand in solidarity with those facing persecution in Zimbabwe.

“#DropTheCharges” was the union’s closing statement, a call for justice and an end to the regime’s oppressive tactics.

Mnangagwa Corrupt, Incompetent, Top Economist Declares

You Can’t Arrest Change, Chamisa Warns Mnangagwa

By Tinashe Sambiri

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has delivered a strong message to the Zanu PF regime, urging it to recognize the unmistakable signs of change sweeping across the globe.

He emphasized that the transformation underway cannot be stopped, even in the face of the country’s economic hardships.

Chamisa, speaking on Monday, conveyed a message of hope and resilience, calling for a brighter future for Zimbabwe.

He reminded citizens that despite the persistent challenges, the promise of change remains.

“CHANGE IN ZIMBABWE …

The winds of change are blowing across Africa and the world!

Zimbabwe, like every nation, is not immune to this global wave. Our time is coming. The transformation that has touched many parts of the world will not bypass us. Zimbabwe will see change, and it will be unstoppable,” Chamisa declared.

He called on Zimbabweans to believe in the potential of the country, urging them to “just imagine” the possibilities of a transformed nation. “We cannot be shackled by the past; we must embrace the future with optimism and determination,” Chamisa added.

With the economy in a dire state and citizens feeling the weight of inflation and unemployment, Chamisa’s remarks were a call to action, encouraging the people of Zimbabwe to remain hopeful and continue fighting for a better future.

Edgar Lungu Gets Retirement Order By Court

Zambia’s Constitutional Court Bars Former President

By A Correspondent | Lusaka, Zambia – Former Zambian president Edgar Lungu has been permanently retired from running in future presidential elections, following a landmark ruling by the Constitutional Court on Tuesday.

The court determined that Lungu’s two stints in office, including a 20-month term after succeeding the late President Michael Sata, constitute the maximum two terms permitted under Zambia’s Constitution. This decision blocks Lungu’s intended challenge to current President Hakainde Hichilema in the 2026 elections.

Justice Arnold Mweetwa Shilimi, deputy president of the Constitutional Court, stated, “A person who has twice held office and been elected cannot serve another term. Our combined interpretation of the Constitution confirms that the respondent’s term of office from 25 January 2015 to 13 September 2016 constituted a term of office.”

The Case Against Lungu

The case was brought forward by youth activist Michelo Chizombe, who argued that Lungu’s ascension to power following Sata’s death should be counted as a full term. Lungu initially served as acting president before being formally elected in January 2015, then secured a full term in 2016.

The court agreed with Chizombe’s argument, ruling that Lungu’s service from 2015 to 2016, combined with his subsequent term from 2016 to 2021, constitutes two terms.

Accusations of Lawfare

Ahead of the trial, Lungu accused Hichilema and his government of orchestrating a “cowardly and dirty” legal strategy to sideline him from the 2026 presidential race. He claimed the use of constitutional challenges was a ploy to avoid a direct electoral confrontation.

“These schemes are a desperate attempt to deny the Zambian people their right to choose a leader who understands their struggles,” Lungu said during a press briefing last month.

Judicial Controversy

The Constitutional Court had been viewed as potentially favorable to Lungu, who appointed six of its eleven judges during his presidency. However, Hichilema’s administration removed three judges who had previously ruled against his legal challenges to Lungu’s 2016 election victory.

The decision is expected to have significant implications for Zambia’s political landscape as the country approaches the 2026 elections.

While President Hichilema has not commented on the ruling, analysts suggest it cements his position as a frontrunner in the upcoming race, free of a direct challenge from his most formidable rival.

Zanu PF Struggles To Implicate Chamisa In Land Corruption

By Political reporter- The Zanu PF established Harare Commission of Inquiry is struggling to implicate the people’s President Nelson Chamisa in the land scandal so that they sink his political career.

The commission yesterday grilled Chamisa, alleging that he was involved in the illegal allocating of over 5,000 stands and the regularisation of more than 300 housing cooperatives ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.

Despite attempts by Zanu PF to drag Chamisa into a land corruption scandal, the evidence presented failed to link him to the irregularities.

Chamisa denied the allegations during his appearance, refuting claims that he had instructed Harare City councillors to fast-track land allocations to secure urban votes.

While an audio recording surfaced of Councillor Blessing Duma discussing the regularisation of settlements, Chamisa rejected the notion that he had any personal involvement with Duma.

He acknowledged, however, that his councillors had deviated from party directives, attributing their actions to “Tomfoolery” and a lack of party control.

Chamisa admitted to losing control over the councillors and revealed that attempts to introduce an Integrity and Accountability Panel within CCC to regulate their conduct were rejected.

Despite this, Zanu PF’s strategy to target CCC-affiliated housing cooperatives for demolition while sparing those linked to their own party further exposed their partisan and corrupt motives.

Chamisa Escapes Arrest

By Political Reporter-The People’s President Advocate Nelson Chamisa narrowly avoided a potential contempt of court charge on Monday after complying with a summons to appear before the Zanu PF-aligned Harare City Commission of Inquiry.

The move by the regime was widely seen as a calculated trap to engineer his arrest.

Chamisa was summoned to testify before retired Justice Maphios Cheda during the inquiry, ostensibly to shed light on alleged corruption and mismanagement within the Harare City Council.

Critics argue this was part of a broader campaign to tarnish Chamisa’s reputation.

The regime likely anticipated that Chamisa, no longer directly linked to the council, might default, providing grounds for a contempt charge and subsequent arrest.

The Harare City Council, currently led by the controversial Sengezo Tshabangu, has been at the center of allegations of administrative chaos.

Tshabangu’s disputed appointments of councillors outside official Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) processes have fueled instability.

However, Chamisa stepped away from active council leadership before these controversies unfolded, a timeline that many believe clears him of any wrongdoing.

Critics have pointed out glaring contradictions in the state’s approach.

While the regime attempts to implicate Chamisa in the council’s alleged corruption, it had previously endorsed Tshabangu as the legitimate leader of the CCC.

When Chamisa formally informed Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda that he had not recalled any MPs or councillors, the state backed Tshabangu’s actions.

Chamisa’s spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba, denounced the summons as a wasteful display of political theatrics:

“This is another useless waste of taxpayers’ money by the illegitimate regime ruling Zimbabwe. Summoning the People’s President underscores Zanu PF’s weaponisation of the law to intimidate the legitimate winner of the 2018 and 2023 Presidential Elections. While the country loses an estimated US$1.2 billion annually to illicit gold flows—as confirmed by the Prosecutor General and Home Affairs Minister—the regime prioritises theatrics over critical issues like solving the energy crisis, reindustrialising the economy, and providing basic services such as housing, clean water, streetlights, and public transport.”

Siziba also noted that Chamisa’s decision to appear at the inquiry was deliberate, aimed at sidestepping the regime’s trap.

Adding to the inquiry’s questionable credibility, an audio recording presented as evidence allegedly implicated Councillor Duma, claiming he acted on Chamisa’s instructions.

However, the recording merely referenced public statements by both Chamisa and President Emmerson Mnangagwa condemning house demolitions.

Observers question why Mnangagwa was not summoned if such statements constituted actionable instructions.

Moreover, at the time of the alleged misconduct, Councillor Duma was not chairing the implicated committee, further undermining the commission’s claims.
Chamisa’s testimony dismantled these allegations, with the proceedings concluding in under 20 minutes.

His swift release highlighted the inquiry’s lack of substance and reinforced public perceptions that it was a sham.

The spectacle underscores the Zanu PF regime’s fixation on targeting opposition leaders rather than addressing Zimbabwe’s pressing challenges.

While the nation grapples with corruption, economic decline, and deteriorating public services, the government appears more interested in political vendettas.

As Chamisa aptly summarised in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter):
“Another colossal waste of public funds, another sham exposed. Zimbabwe deserves better.”

Chamisa’s strategic handling of the inquiry not only avoided legal entanglement but also exposed the commission’s true intentions, further cementing his position as a resilient opposition figure in the face of relentless state persecution.

Inside The InterAfrica Bus Accident

Harrowing Accounts Emerge from Inter Africa Bus Accident

By Farai D Hove | Gweru, Zimbabwe – Tragedy struck early Sunday morning when an Inter Africa bus, speeding along the Harare-Bulawayo Highway, collided with a stationary haulage truck near Dabuka Shuttling Yard. Seven lives were lost, and 22 passengers were injured in a devastating crash that has left survivors recounting moments of terror and sorrow.

Survivors Speak Out

Among the passengers was 36-year-old Ms. Sibonokuhle Nkomo, a mother from Pumula South in Bulawayo, whose journey was fueled by her desire to brighten her children’s Christmas. Her dreams were shattered as the bus veered off course and slammed into the truck, resulting in the amputation of her left leg.

“I just wanted to make my children happy,” Ms. Nkomo said from her hospital bed at Gweru Provincial Hospital, tears streaming down her face. “I was asleep when I heard screams and woke up to find blood pouring from my leg. I didn’t realize the severity until I couldn’t stand, and later, doctors told me they had to amputate.”

Ms. Nkomo, who runs a shop in Filabusi, now faces an uncertain future. “My work requires me to stand and travel often. How will I manage now?” she told the state run Chronicle paper.

“We Were Cramped and Helpless”

Ms. Charity Mhike, another passenger, was traveling with her four young children. She described how her decision to move two of her children to another seat may have saved their lives.

“When we got to Gweru, I asked my 11-year-old and one of my 5-year-old twins to move to the opposite seat, which wasn’t impacted during the crash,” she said. “I thank God for giving me the wisdom to move them. While I sustained a fractured leg, my twin still broke both legs.”

Other passengers echoed the cramped conditions of the bus, which they believe contributed to the severity of injuries. Mr. Joze Sanana from Magwegwe North noted that the lack of legroom left passengers vulnerable to crushing injuries. “Most of us had fractured legs because we couldn’t even stretch,” he said.

Questions Raised About Speeding

Many survivors accused the driver of reckless speeding. Mr. Pingurai Marozva, another passenger, described waking up to a deafening bang and chaos. “The impact was so great that it’s clear the bus was moving too fast. We barely had time to react,” he said.

Official Response

National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the deaths of seven individuals. “The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary,” he said, adding that investigations are ongoing.

Twelve of the injured passengers have been discharged from Gweru Provincial Hospital, while others, including Ms. Nkomo and Ms. Mhike, remain under treatment for severe injuries.

Community Calls for Accountability

The incident has sparked public outrage over the state of public transportation safety. Survivors and community members are demanding stricter enforcement of speed limits and improved bus designs to prevent overcrowding and ensure passenger safety.

For now, the community grieves the loss of seven lives while rallying to support survivors like Ms. Nkomo, who must rebuild their lives after enduring the unimaginable.

Advanced Advisory: Leveraging Speed Cameras and Computerized Policing to Enhance Road Safety

Speeding remains a significant factor in road traffic accidents worldwide, often resulting in severe injuries and fatalities. As transportation systems evolve, speed cameras and computerized policing have emerged as critical tools for curbing this dangerous behavior. Research and case studies underline their potential to save lives and enhance the efficiency of law enforcement operations. Here’s an advanced overview of how these technologies work together to create safer roads.

1. How Speed Cameras Improve Traffic Safety

Speed cameras have been proven to deter speeding and improve compliance with speed limits. Their impact is rooted in three key factors:

Automated Enforcement: Speed cameras operate 24/7, reducing the reliance on human officers for enforcement. This continuous monitoring ensures that speeding violations are consistently captured.

Widespread Deterrence: Published studies show that drivers modify their behavior not only at camera locations but also in surrounding areas due to increased awareness of enforcement zones. This phenomenon is known as the “halo effect.”

Reduction in Fatalities: According to a meta-analysis published by the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, speed cameras lead to a 20-25% reduction in crashes and a similar decrease in fatalities.

2. The Role of Computerized Policing in Speeding Control

Computerized policing uses advanced technology to streamline enforcement, optimize resource allocation, and analyze traffic data. Key components include:

Integrated Data Systems: By connecting speed cameras to centralized databases, police can track repeat offenders, revoke licenses, and impose penalties with greater efficiency.

Predictive Analytics: Using AI and machine learning, computerized systems can predict high-risk areas and times for speeding, allowing targeted deployment of enforcement resources.

Real-Time Alerts: Automated systems can issue fines, warnings, or alerts to drivers immediately after violations, reinforcing the consequences of speeding and promoting behavior change.

3. Synergy Between Speed Cameras and Computerized Policing

When combined, speed cameras and computerized policing offer unparalleled advantages in managing speeding:

Immediate and Scalable Enforcement: Cameras collect vast amounts of data, which computerized systems process to identify patterns, prioritize violations, and ensure fairness.

Enhanced Public Awareness: Notifications generated by computerized systems (e.g., SMS alerts for minor infractions) educate drivers and build awareness, creating a preventive rather than punitive system.

Resource Optimization: Automating routine tasks like ticket issuance allows law enforcement to focus on complex safety challenges, such as impaired driving or emergency response.

4. Global Case Studies and Success Stories

Numerous countries have demonstrated the life-saving potential of these technologies:

United Kingdom: A British Medical Journal study found that fixed speed cameras reduced fatal and serious collisions by up to 50% in high-risk areas.

Australia: The New South Wales Roads and Maritime Services reported a 90% reduction in speeding-related fatalities after introducing mobile speed cameras and linking them with AI-based predictive tools.

Sweden: The Vision Zero initiative uses speed cameras integrated with advanced monitoring systems, contributing to one of the lowest road fatality rates globally.

5. Recommendations for Implementation

Governments and law enforcement agencies aiming to maximize road safety can adopt the following strategies:

Deploy Data-Driven Camera Networks: Focus on high-traffic and high-risk areas identified through crash data analysis.

Integrate AI and Machine Learning: Use predictive analytics to anticipate violations and deploy resources efficiently.

Enhance Public Communication: Run awareness campaigns about the presence of speed cameras and the risks of speeding to reinforce deterrence.

Invest in Maintenance and Upgrades: Ensure speed cameras and computerized systems remain operational and updated with the latest technology.

6. Conclusion: A Proven Path to Safer Roads

The integration of speed cameras and computerized policing represents a powerful approach to reducing speeding, saving lives, and improving overall traffic safety. With robust implementation and continuous technological advancements, these tools will remain central to modern traffic management systems, helping to achieve safer roads for all.

By harnessing the synergy between automated systems and strategic law enforcement, policymakers can create an environment where compliance becomes the norm, and preventable accidents are dramatically reduced.

“Nelson touched so many lives with his kindness and generosity,” said a close friend. “This is our chance to come together and show his family how deeply he was loved and appreciated.”

Donations of any size are being encouraged, with all contributions going directly toward repatriation and funeral costs. For those unable to contribute financially, the family is requesting prayers and help in sharing the campaign with others.

Nelson’s legacy of kindness, positivity, and generosity serves as a reminder of the profound impact one individual can have on a community.

To support Nelson Mukuvare’s family, donations can be made via the GoFundMe link shared below.

Let us honor Nelson’s memory by ensuring he is laid to rest in his homeland and by easing the burden on his family during this incredibly painful time.

Man Faces Court Over Alleged Rape of Vendor

Harare, December 09, 2024 – In a shocking development from Harare’s Central Business District, 26-year-old Ignatius Chindudzi appeared before magistrate Mrs. Marehwanazvo Gofa, charged with the rape of a woman who had come to his office to collect a debt.

According to the State’s case, the incident took place sometime in October when the complainant visited Chindudzi’s office to retrieve money owed to her. Upon her arrival, she found Chindudzi alone. When she inquired about her money, he reportedly questioned why she had previously rejected his romantic advances.

The situation escalated when Chindudzi allegedly locked the office door, placed a blanket on the floor, and instructed the woman to lie down. Upon her refusal, he forcibly pushed her to the ground and committed the assault. After the act, Chindudzi left, claiming he would return shortly, but he did not come back.

The victim, left waiting for nearly an hour, eventually left the premises. Days later, she discovered she had contracted a sexually transmitted infection, leading her to confide in a cousin. The cousin then confronted Chindudzi, which culminated in a police report and Chindudzi’s subsequent arrest.

This case has drawn significant attention, highlighting issues of workplace safety and the vulnerability of individuals in financial transactions. The legal proceedings are ongoing, with further details expected to emerge as the case progresses in court.

The community and women’s rights organizations are closely monitoring this case, advocating for justice and increased protection for those in similar situations. Chindudzi is currently in custody as the legal system awaits further developments.

Zanu Seeks Chamisa’s Arrest

By Political Reporter-The Zanu PF regime appears determined to implicate People’s President Advocate Nelson Chamisa in alleged corruption within the Sengezo Tshabangu-led Harare City Council.

This intention became evident on Monday when Chamisa was summoned to testify before Justice (rtd) Maphios Cheda during the Harare City Commission of Inquiry.

The inquiry, ostensibly probing mismanagement and chaos in the council, sought Chamisa’s insights into its operations during his tenure.

Zanu PF’s move to establish the commission is seen by critics as a ploy to tarnish Chamisa’s reputation by linking him to the council’s administrative challenges.

Although Chamisa once led the party that oversaw the council, he stepped aside from active leadership within the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) before the current controversies erupted.

Observers attribute the council’s instability to Sengezo Tshabangu’s controversial appointments of councillors outside party processes.

Tshabangu’s actions have drawn widespread criticism for fostering turmoil, a development that unfolded after Chamisa distanced himself from active involvement in council affairs.

Critics argue that this timeline exonerates Chamisa from direct involvement in the alleged corruption.

Chamisa’s spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba, condemned the summons as a waste of resources:

Siziba also noted that Chamisa’s decision to appear at the inquiry was a strategic one, aimed at avoiding charges of contempt, a trap many believe Zanu PF had laid.

Critics highlight glaring inconsistencies in the regime’s narrative.

The commission claims Chamisa is responsible for the councillors’ actions, yet it previously endorsed Tshabangu as CCC’s leader.

When Chamisa formally communicated to Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda that he had not recalled any MPs or councillors, the state upheld Tshabangu’s leadership.

Now, the regime’s attempt to pin council chaos on Chamisa reeks of hypocrisy.

Adding to the absurdity, the commission presented an audio recording allegedly implicating Councillor Duma, claiming he acted on Chamisa’s instructions.

However, the audio revealed that Duma referred to public condemnations of house demolitions by both Chamisa and President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Critics question why Mnangagwa has not been summoned if such statements qualify as “instructions.”
Moreover, at the time of the alleged misconduct, Councillor Duma was not chairing the implicated committee—another fact undermining the commission’s claims.

Chamisa’s testimony before the commission dismantled these allegations, leading to his release in under 20 minutes, further exposing the inquiry as a sham.

This spectacle underscores the Zanu PF regime’s obsession with targeting opposition leaders instead of addressing Zimbabwe’s pressing issues.

While corruption and mismanagement plague the nation, the government diverts attention to politically motivated theatrics.

As Chamisa aptly summarized in his statement on X:
“Another colossal waste of public funds, another sham exposed. Zimbabwe deserves better.”

Zanu PF Rewards Mnangagwa Bootlickers

By A Correspondent

At this year’s Legacy TV Empowerment Awards, ZANU PF party structures and affiliates were publicly celebrated for their contributions throughout the year, with several winners proudly acknowledging the recognition they received.

Among the honorees were Vapotsori for ED and Young Women in Business, who expressed their overwhelming gratitude for being singled out. “God has blessed us through Legacy TV which has recognised us fully by acknowledging our role in uniting and mobilising support for President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF during the past elections,” said Madzibaba Moses Gwasarira, Founder of Vapostori and MaZion for ED. “Vapostori and Zanu PF are one. We are indigenous churches which will continue to work for unity and with the ruling party.”

In a similar vein, another awardee, remarked on the significance of the recognition.

“It is not easy to dedicate oneself to work for the country and to aspire to make a difference in the communities we belong to. We appreciate the hard work that everyone has put in place and we are happy that you have been recognised for the hard work,” Tavengwa stated.

The Legacy TV Empowerment Awards, a project initiated by the Children of the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, aim to honour ZANU PF party structures and affiliates for their various empowerment initiatives that contribute to improving the livelihoods of the people. However, the event has sparked concerns about the level of sycophantic praise directed toward the ruling party, which some critics believe has reached disturbing levels of bootlicking. The overwhelming focus on praising President Mnangagwa and ZANU PF for their actions, especially in light of the elections, raises questions about the authenticity of these recognitions.

Will The Road Accident Fund Be Effective In Zimbabwe?

By A Correspondent

As Zimbabwe moves closer to finalizing the establishment of its much-anticipated Road Accident Fund (RAF), concerns are growing over the potential for looting and misuse of the fund, casting doubt on whether it will effectively serve its intended purpose.

The RAF, designed to provide financial assistance and medical treatment to victims of road accidents, has been tabled to the Cabinet for consideration. Ms. Ruvimbo Chaduru, a representative from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development, confirmed that “the guiding principles of the document have been submitted to Cabinet and we now await the outcome of the Cabinet resolution.”

Once established, the RAF will offer compulsory insurance coverage for all road users in Zimbabwe, with the aim of ensuring that accident victims and their families do not bear the full financial burden of road accidents. However, with Zimbabwe’s history of corruption and mismanagement of public funds, many are questioning whether the fund will be protected from exploitation.

Hon Knowledge Kaitano, chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio for Transport and Infrastructure Development, emphasized the need for transparency and accountability, noting, “The current situation, where victims and their families bear the financial burden of accidents, is unacceptable. The RAF will provide much-needed relief and support to those affected.” However, he added that “concerns about potential administrative challenges” remain, particularly in light of Zimbabwe’s ongoing issues with looting and mismanagement of state funds.

The RAF’s design aims to be a safety net for accident victims, but many fear it could become a target for corruption. Mr. Munesu Munodawafa, managing director of the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, called for public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on how the fund will work, stressing, “There is a need for public awareness campaigns to educate the public about the fund and its benefits.”

Despite these concerns, the RAF is seen as a crucial step towards reducing the financial hardship caused by road accidents in Zimbabwe. However, as the country grapples with high levels of looting and political instability, the success of the fund will ultimately depend on the government’s ability to implement strong safeguards to protect it from abuse.

With the fate of the RAF now in the hands of Cabinet, Zimbabweans are left hoping that the new fund will truly provide relief to those in need, rather than becoming another casualty of the country’s deep-rooted corruption issues.

Jay-Z Denies Rape Allegations, Calls Lawsuit “Blackmail Attempt”

By A Correspondent

Jay-Z has vehemently denied allegations of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000. In a statement, Jay-Z called the lawsuit a “blackmail attempt,” saying, “My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee.

What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle. No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!”

The lawsuit, filed under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, alleges that Jay-Z and Diddy drugged and raped the anonymous accuser, “Jane Doe,” at a house party after the MTV Video Music Awards in New York. Diddy’s legal team has also denied the allegations, calling the lawsuit a “shameless publicity stunt” designed to extract payments from celebrities .

Diddy is currently in jail awaiting trial on charges of sex-trafficking and other offenses, with a trial set for May 5. He faces 30 other lawsuits, all of which his legal team claims are “lies spread about him” .

Tshabangu Cashes-In-On CCC Chaos

By Political Reporter- Controversial interim CCC secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu is reportedly cashing in as desperate CCC lawmakers bribe him to avoid losing their parliamentary seats or secure influential roles.

Tshabangu has faced sharp criticism for orchestrating a wave of recalls targeting CCC legislators accused of abandoning party membership.

These recalls have deepened divisions within the opposition, with former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa recently severing ties with the party, citing Zanu PF infiltration.

The recalls have reshaped the party’s leadership in Parliament.

Notable casualties include Chikanga legislator Lynette Karenyi-Kore, ousted as Leader of the House in the National Assembly and replaced by Sunningdale MP Maureen Kademaunga.

Former Chief Whip Edwin Mushoriwa was also removed in a controversial reshuffle.

CCC faction spokesperson Willas Madzimure lambasted Tshabangu’s unilateral actions, dismissing the reshuffle as illegitimate. “These are not party decisions. They are personal power plays,” Madzimure told NewsDay. “Some individuals are paying for positions, and this is deeply troubling. Large sums of money are exchanging hands, undermining merit and credibility.”

He accused Tshabangu of exploiting his authority, leaving party members anxious about their future. “Every time a letter is read in Parliament, legislators fear being the next target. This abuse of power is inhumane and unsustainable,” Madzimure said.

He also criticized the removal of senior party figures like Karenyi-Kore. “These legislators worked hard to earn their positions, some even using personal resources to secure votes. Recalling them without cause is demoralizing and mirrors the oppressive tactics we oppose in Zanu PF.”

Tshabangu’s actions have also sparked disputes over control of funds allocated under the Political Parties Finance Act.

Despite the turmoil, Tshabangu and his camp have remained defiant, with his spokesperson, Nqobizitha Mlilo, unavailable for comment.

The CCC is now grappling with how to manage the fallout, with Madzimure urging a focus on unity and substantive issues. “We cannot allow this circus to continue. Our priority must be to restore order and integrity in the party,” he said.

The opposition party’s future hangs in the balance as tensions escalate, threatening to weaken its effectiveness in challenging the ruling Zanu PF.

Ken Sharpe Honours Business Students

By Business Reporter- He was all tears of joy as his name was called out as the inaugural winner of the Sharpe Business Academy at a glittering ceremony held last Saturday at Jameson Hotel.

Kundayi Mbiriri, the founder of Hukama Technologies, received a whooping US$10 000 from Mr Ken Sharpe after he was adjudged the best student by his peers and attendees during the graduation ceremony.

The top 15 students were asked to make their business pitches, and the rest voted for the top three business strategies that demonstrated innovation, sustainability, and excellence.

Peterson Mugodo of Peniel Pharmacies scooped the second prize of US$5000, while Rutendo Muchero of CB Muchero walked away with US$3000 in third position.

The students were drawn from across Zimbabwe – with those who did not win the monetary prizes confirming that the vast knowledge they gained was priceless and would propel their businesses to dizzy heights.

Writing on X, one of the graduands, Isaac Gundani, wrote, “I appreciate the opportunity to have studied at Sharpe Business Academy. Thanks to the generosity and mentorship of Mr and Mrs Sharpe. Their commitment to fostering entrepreneurial excellence has been invaluable”.

Speaking during the event, Mr Sharpe said with growth, winners will eventually take home US$1 million to invest in their businesses.

“This is a non-profit organisation. All the funds generated by the SBA are ploughed back into the organisation for its growth. I want the ultimate winner to take home US$1 million dollars. This means we are going to progressively increase the prize money with each graduation until we reach the US$1 million target,” he said.

Mr Sharpe, an alumnus of the Havard Business School, used case studies taught by the graduate school with his students, giving them a feel of the elite and prestigious syllabus.

He also used practical examples learned from his doing business over the past 33 years.

The Sharpe Business Academy is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and business acumen among Zimbabweans, and it aims to empower individuals to contribute to national economic development.

Auxillia Mnangagwa Disrupts Church

By Political Reporter-The First Lady of Zimbabwe, Auxillia Mnangagwa, caused a stir at a Johane Masowe eChishanu Chinhevere Shrine in Chiweshe over the weekend after her security team disrupted a church service, leaving congregants distressed.

Witnesses reported that church members were jostled, shoved, and shuffled to ensure the First Lady’s safety as her team took over the shrine.

The chaotic scenes left many questioning the heavy-handedness of the security personnel accompanying the First Lady, who is known for travelling with an entourage of at least 50 security officers and a fleet of high-powered vehicles.

According to sources close to the scene, the disruption began long before Auxillia’s arrival, with security operatives harassing attendees and thoroughly sweeping the church grounds.

Congregants described the environment as tense and intimidating.

Despite the commotion, Auxillia later took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm her attendance at the service. She expressed nostalgia for the church where she claimed to have grown up, stating:
“Believers are required to uphold the integrity of God’s word and adhere to its precepts. I’m pleased with my upbringing and religious foundation. This last Friday, I was able to visit the church where I grew up, Johane Masowe eChishanu Chinhevere Shrine in Chiweshe, to meet some of the old and new members and spread the gospel to fellow believers.”

She details her dedication to the church and its role in shaping her morals, emphasising her connection to the Chiweshe community.

However, this public relations gesture has done little to quell criticism.

Observers have drawn parallels to her husband, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who travels with a formidable security detail that often disrupts public events.

Critics argue that such behaviour exemplifies a leadership style prioritising personal security over public goodwill.

The latest incident has added to the growing unease among Zimbabweans, who view the first family’s security practices as excessive and a reflection of their detachment from ordinary citizens.

Tshabangu Creates Another Parallel CCC

Political Reporter- The self-imposed CCC Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu has caused more divisions in the party after he fired more party cadres from their parliament portfolio committee posts last week.

Tshabangu removed several party leaders from key positions in Parliament, replacing them with legislators more aligned with his interests.

Tshabangu recently dismissed Lynette Karenyi Kore as the Leader of the House in the National Assembly, appointing Maureen Kademaunga, the Sunningdale legislator, as her replacement. Former chief whip Edwin Mushoriwa was also removed in the reshuffle.

CCC spokesperson Willas Madzimure said the party did not support the reshuffle orchestrated by Tshabangu. He said:

It is not necessary, but because someone wants to flex their muscles, they make those unilateral decisions. We did not get any reason why those people were demoted.

There are other serious and pressing issues that we should be focusing on, not this child’s play. I thought some of thepeople appointed to these positions must use common sense.

We are making some considerations to see how we can deal with the issue. But we know that no more recalls are going totake place, even the Speaker (Jacob) Mudenda knows that.

But is it humane to keep your colleague on edge in Parliament? Every time there is a letter read in Parliament, you will be thinking, it might be me who is being targeted this time.

You might have power now, notwithstanding how you got that power, but we are all human. We are not immortal.

Madzimure also condemned Tshabangu’s recalls of CCC MPs and councillors shortly after the 2023 general elections, warning him that power is temporary. Said Madzimure:

It is disheartening for people who worked hard to be in Parliament only to be recalled. Yes, some might have been selected through the controversial “bereka mwana” process, but they worked hard to win the votes.

They used their resources. In the end, that power will be gone no matter who is celebrating that abuse of power. I was recalled twice.

I know how it feels, but that will not stop me from talking against what is bad. Why punish all these legislators? That is what we despise ZANU PF for, so you cannot be doing the same.

Tshabangu and Ncube have been embroiled in a power struggle over control of funds allocated under the Political Parties Finance Act, along with other contentious issues.

When contacted by NewsDay for comment Tshabangu referred inquiries to his spokesperson, Nqobizitha Mlilo, who did not answer calls.

In the first six months after the 2023 general elections, Tshabangu recalled dozens of CCC MPs and councillors, asserting that they were no longer party members.

Red Devils Manager Calls for Patience

Sports Correspondent

Manchester United endured another setback under new manager Ruben Amorim, suffering a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. This loss saw the team fall to 13th place in the Premier League standings.

In his post-match comments, Amorim acknowledged that his squad is currently lacking in quality and that there are no quick fixes to the situation. Reflecting on his own experiences, he said, “I faced similar challenges at Sporting in the beginning. The feeling is the same for me, even though it may seem different to the outside world. Sporting is in Portugal, and Manchester gets a lot more attention, but the feeling of struggle is the same.”

He continued, “If you’re a bit experienced in football, you realize this happens to many clubs. We must stay focused, keep working hard, and continue to improve the team. Results will turn around, but we need time and consistent effort to make that happen.”

Types Of Distracted Driving

Distracted driving is doing another activity that takes the driver’s attention away from driving.

Distracted driving can increase the chance of a motor vehicle crash.

There are three types of driving distractions
Anything that takes your attention away from driving can be a distraction.

Sending a text message, talking on a cell phone, using a navigation system, and eating while driving are a few examples of distracted driving.

Any of these distractions can endanger you, your passengers, and others on the road.

Mugabe Was Never Committed To War, Claims Mutsvangwa

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa’s attempt to undermine the late veteran leader Robert Mugabe has sparked widespread criticism from political observers.

In a candid interview with ZFN Capital on Friday, Mutsvangwa accused Mugabe of compromising fellow comrades during the struggle for independence, even suggesting that Mugabe was never truly committed to the war.

“Mugabe refused to train with others,” Mutsvangwa claimed.

Police Release Names of Road Accident Victims

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of the victims who died in a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on December 8, 2024, at the 330-kilometer peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road.

According to ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, five out of seven victims have been positively identified by their next of kin. Nyathi also urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads, especially during the festive season.

Mphoko Body Expected In Zimbabwe This Week

By A Correspondent

The repatriation of former Vice President Phelekezela Report Mphoko’s body from India is currently underway, with the Indian government and the Zimbabwean Embassy coordinating the necessary paperwork. Mphoko, who passed away in India on Friday at the age of 84, is expected to be brought back to Zimbabwe later this week.

Once in the country, Mphoko will be laid to rest at the National Heroes Acre, as President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has declared him a national hero in recognition of his service to Zimbabwe.

In his message of condolence, President Mnangagwa expressed his “deepest, heartfelt condolences” to Mphoko’s family, particularly his wife Mrs. Laurinda Mphoko and their children.

“As they go through the motions of grief, may they derive solace from the knowledge that we mourn and stand with them in this darkest hour,” the President said.

He also praised Mphoko’s contributions to Zimbabwe, recalling his “huge and selfless contribution” towards the country’s independence and development after 1980.

Regime Hunts-down Chamisa

By Political Reporter- The country’s most popular politician and former CCC leader, Nelson Chamisa, has been summed to appear before the Justice Maphios Cheda-led Commission of Inquiry into the state of the Harare City Council.

The mission wants Chamisa to provide insights into the council’s operations during his tenure.

Zanu PF established the commission to probe allegations of mismanagement and chaos within the Harare City Council, which has been scrutinised for its administrative challenges.

Once at the helm of the party that led the council, Chamisa is expected to shed light on governance issues, although he stepped aside from CCC leadership prior to the recent upheavals.

Observers note that the current turmoil in the council has been largely attributed to Sengezo Tshabangu’s controversial role in reshaping the council’s leadership.

Tshabangu, who is accused of appointing councillors outside the party’s official processes, has drawn criticism for contributing to instability.

Critics argue that these developments occurred after Chamisa had distanced himself from active council leadership, exonerating him from direct involvement in the alleged mismanagement.

Themba Gorimbo Speaks On UFC Defeat: ” I Will Be Back”

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, Themba Gorimbo, experienced a crushing loss in the UFC on Saturday morning, when he was defeated by Brazilian fighter Vicente Luque via submission in the first round. The fight, held in Las Vegas, was over in just 52 seconds when Gorimbo was choked out by an anaconda trap, marking the fastest anaconda choke in UFC history.

Despite the devastating loss, Gorimbo expressed a resilient outlook on his future in the sport. Reflecting on the defeat, he took to social media on Sunday to share his thoughts with his followers.

“Life has ups and downs. Wasn’t meant to be a straight path to my goal,” Gorimbo said. “I’ve not made it yet to my goal but I am proud but not satisfied with what I’ve accomplished so far.”

The fighter, who hails from Zimbabwe, emphasized the magnitude of reaching the UFC in the first place. “From where I come from to just fight here in UFC is a big accomplishment even though what I want is to become a champion,” he noted.

However, he acknowledged the painful and unpredictable nature of the journey. “It’s a painful path and I guess my story not supposed to be straight walk in the park.”

While the loss was difficult to swallow, Gorimbo remained optimistic. “I am gutted now but excited for the future,” he admitted. “I rolled the dice and didn’t pay off this time. I guess it’s the way life works sometimes. I will dust myself up and make my comeback.”

Gorimbo also drew strength from his faith, stating, “Yes, I am gutted now but I know I will be okay. God brought me this far to succeed and inspire. This is part of the story. It sucks but hey I live to fight another day.”

In his final words, Gorimbo reflected his indomitable spirit: “Mamba out. Mamba will be back.”

Though the fight ended quickly, Gorimbo’s resilience and determination shone through, showcasing his commitment to rise above setbacks. His journey, marked by the tough challenges he has faced, is far from over, and as he said, he will return stronger, with his eyes set firmly on the prize.

Strive Masiyiwa Still To Respond Over How Own Employee Nyarota’s Being Saved By Wicknell Instead

The billionaire Strive Masiyiwa is still to respond over the latest grim twist of fate, casting how the country’s most celebrated investigative journalist—renowned for exposing high-profile motor vehicle scandals—has found himself abandoned by the very employer who once championed his groundbreaking work. Stripped of his ability to hold the powerful to account, the journalist has been left to languish without basic medical support, his life spiraling into tragedy as his former employer, a billionaire known for public displays of philanthropy, ‘does nothing to intervene.’

The ultimate irony comes in the form of salvation from an unexpected source: a businessman infamous for alleged involvement in another car scandal, the very type the journalist built his reputation reporting on.

Geoff Nyarota

This intervention exposes the heart-wrenching reality that the journalist is now worse off than the day he was hired, allegedly betrayed by the employer who once touted him as their signature investment. In a cruel demonstration of neglect and rhetorical hypocrisy, all common sense and the lowest bar of humanity have been callously disregarded, leaving the journalist’s plight as a stark reminder of the cost of trust misplaced in the corridors of power.

Nyarota has struggled since the days after he was re-hired by the Daily News while in the US and told to fly back home to relaunch the paper in 2009, just before his employers betrayed him.  The veteran journalist wrote at the weekend stating:

At the beginning of January 2003 an event triggered off a series of other events that culminated in a situation in which I found myself enduring a painful existence over the next two decades

The said events were triggered off by the deliberate actions of people whom I counted as friends and colleagues.

My situation deteriorated over the years to a stage where I desperately required assistance. My penury can easily and directly be traced back to the actions of the said colleagues, including an extremely wealthy former friend, and all professing to be devout Christians, who acting in concert literally dumped me by the roadside and left me to starve.

This week several other friends and professional colleagues intervened and came to the rescue.. As a result of their intervention by the end of today I had been rescued from my painful ordeal.

My white knight in shining armour is an individual personally unknown to me, who has pledged to donate to me the sum total of $15 000 required to meet my several urgent medical needs.

Sir Wicknell Chivhayo literally gave me a new lease of life. In the beginning so-called good friends abandoned and left me to starve and suffer for reasons that to this day remain obscure.

Today Sir Wicknell, a total stranger, came to my rescue. My family and I are overwhelmed with gratitude to him. We are also grateful to the several colleagues whose consciences were so pricked by my plight that they took effective and corrective action. May the dear Lord bless you all.

I pray that Sir Wicknell’s prompt decision today causes ﹰDr Sam Sipepa Nkomo , Jethro Goko, now the owner of my former newspaper, The Daily News, and billionaire Strive Masiyiwa to sleep soundly tonight and forever after.

Kasukuwere Dismisses Mutsvangwa Diatribe…

By A Correspondent

Former cabinet minister and ZANU PF national political commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere, has rejected party spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa’s recent interview with ZFN, calling it detrimental to the struggle for independence. Kasukuwere specifically condemned Mutsvangwa’s comments that targeted women who fought in the liberation struggle, labeling such attacks as completely unacceptable.

He stated, “ZANU PF, please play the recording and convince yourselves if this is the correct picture of the struggle.” Kasukuwere expressed strong disapproval of the interview, calling it “scandalous” for casting doubt on the integrity of key figures like General Mujuru and Vice President Chiwenga. He also criticized Mutsvangwa’s controversial statements regarding the death of Chitepo, the relationship with Frelimo officials, and the alleged sabotage of Old Mutual.

“A serious review of this foolish diatribe will make many people very, very upset,” Kasukuwere warned. He further recalled efforts to stop Mutsvangwa from turning the Cabinet into a “dealing room” and accused him of attempting to impose corrupt business ties with companies seeking to exploit the country’s resources. “Present activities confirm our fears,” Kasukuwere concluded.

The Rise of Online Casinos: Implications for Zimbabwe’s Economy and Society

Zimbabwe’s gambling scene changed big time recently. Old betting shops feel lonely. Phones buzz with casino games and bets. Harare’s streets don’t need slot machines because everyone carries one in their pocket.

Digital Revolution in Zimbabwe’s Gambling Sector

More people in Zimbabwe use the internet now, over half the country. Mobile money makes buying things easy, even gambling. Local companies made special websites for betting on phones. They’re not copying others, they’re building new things just for Zimbabwe.

EcoCash and OneMoney made paying for bets simple. No more fancy credit cards needed. Use the same app you buy food with to bet online. Paying for bets got super easy overnight.

Economic Ripples

The government gets money from online gambling. Lots of money came in last year, helping when other things weren’t doing so well. But counting and taxing this money is tricky. Some sneaky companies don’t pay their share.

New tech jobs appeared because betting companies need smart people. They need folks to build websites, answer questions, and tell people about the games. These are good jobs that pay well. But sometimes, money that could help local stores or go into savings ends up in betting apps.

Regulatory Challenges

Zimbabwe’s old gambling rules didn’t know about smartphones. The people in charge are trying to catch up but technology moves too fast. They fix one thing, and the companies find a new way around it. It’s like a game of tag.

Tough choices face the government. Strict rules might make companies hide where nobody can see them. Loose rules might hurt people who can’t stop betting. Finding the right balance is super hard when things change so quickly. If you are in a hurry, and don’t have time to check out all, you can find best options via https://toponlinecasinouk.co.uk/.

Social Impact Assessment

Let’s assess social impact of online casinos:

Youth Gambling Trends

Kids love phones, and betting apps know this. College kids bet in between classes. Some get lucky and quit school. Others lose all their money. The apps make it seem like a fun game, but it can be a big problem.

Family Dynamics

Families struggle with money because of betting. When gambling is on your phone all the time, it’s harder to stop spending. Parents fret about their children. Husbands and wives hide their betting. People who help families talk about problems see more gambling issues than ever before.

Community Effects

Local places see betting shops close as online betting grows. Some jobs go away, new ones pop up somewhere else. Churches worry about people doing bad things. But sometimes, gambling money helps communities with special projects.

Digital Infrastructure Development

Better internet means more people can gamble. Phone companies built faster internet just for things like betting apps. Even faraway places got internet faster than expected. Good for everyone, but tricky for gambling.

Betting companies build big computer centers and hire lots of people. This helps more than just gambling. It makes the whole internet in Zimbabwe better. Skills learned building betting apps can be used for other things too.

Financial Sector Adaptation

Banks had to change to handle tons of small payments from gamblers. Mobile money companies made special accounts for betting. These changes help everyone using money in Zimbabwe, not just gamblers.

Some banks don’t like working with betting companies. Others see a chance to make money. This makes companies find new ways to pay, which can make paying for everything in Zimbabwe better.

Conclusion

Online gambling in Zimbabwe changes everything – technology, money, and how people live. It creates jobs and brings in money but causes problems too. Doing it right means finding the perfect balance between good and bad, new ideas and rules, chances to grow and keeping people safe.

The next few years matter a lot. Decisions made now about online gambling will shape Zimbabwe’s future. One thing’s for sure – pretending it’s not happening won’t work. Online gambling is here to stay. Figuring out how to make it helpful without hurting people is the big challenge.

Mutsvangwa and His Liberation War TikTok: Kerina

Zimbabwe’s political discourse has been ignited by recent sharp critiques of Christopher Mutsvangwa, the ZANU PF Spokesperson, from prominent figures such as Kerina Mujati and former ZANU PF Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere. Their comments have fueled a national conversation about the legitimacy of historical narratives, leadership credibility, and the ethical responsibilities of those in power.

Kerina Mujati’s Accusations.

video below

Kerina Mujati, a political commentator, launched an impassioned critique of Mutsvangwa on social media, accusing him of fabricating his war credentials. She alleged that Mutsvangwa, despite positioning himself as a key figure in Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, never participated in combat or played a significant frontline role. Mujati labeled him a “delusional War DJ” and a “bogus war vet,” contrasting his purported contributions with those of notable figures such as Constantine Chiwenga and Joice Mujuru.

Additionally, Mujati accused Mutsvangwa of spreading misinformation and using historical revisionism to bolster his political ambitions, which she dismissed as unattainable. Her remarks reflect broader concerns about the manipulation of liberation narratives by politicians seeking personal gain.

Saviour Kasukuwere’s Intervention

Former ZANU-PF heavyweight Saviour Kasukuwere added his voice to the controversy, focusing on Mutsvangwa’s recent interview with Zfn. Kasukuwere criticized the interview as “damaging to the struggle for independence” and accused Mutsvangwa of undermining women’s contributions to the liberation movement. He described the content of the interview as scandalous, citing unverified claims that cast doubts on prominent figures such as General Solomon Mujuru and Vice President Constantine Chiwenga, as well as speculation about the death of Herbert Chitepo.

Kasukuwere also highlighted what he called Mutsvangwa’s “corrupt relations” with foreign companies, accusing him of attempting to exploit Zimbabwe’s resources. Furthermore, he claimed that Mutsvangwa had been prevented from turning Cabinet into a “dealing room” for personal gain, a direct critique of his ethics and leadership.

Broader Implications of the Debate

The allegations by Mujati and Kasukuwere tap into a larger narrative about the politicization of Zimbabwe’s liberation history. The war for independence, a defining moment in the country’s history, is often invoked by leaders to legitimize their authority. However, as accusations of historical embellishment and personal profiteering emerge, the credibility of such narratives is increasingly being called into question.

The role of women in the liberation struggle, highlighted by Kasukuwere, is another critical issue. His condemnation of Mutsvangwa’s alleged dismissal of women’s contributions reflects ongoing struggles for gender equity and recognition within Zimbabwe’s political and historical narratives.

Silence from the Accused

At the time of writing, Christopher Mutsvangwa has not responded to these allegations. His silence could be interpreted in various ways—either as a strategy to avoid escalating the controversy or as an indication of an inability to counter the claims. Regardless, his lack of response has left the accusations unchallenged in the public domain, fueling speculation and further damaging his credibility.

Social Media as a Battleground

This debate underscores the role of social media in shaping political discourse in Zimbabwe. Platforms like Twitter have become arenas for public accountability, where politicians and commentators alike share unfiltered opinions. While this democratization of dialogue allows for robust debate, it also raises concerns about the spread of unverified claims and the potential for personal attacks to overshadow substantive issues.

Conclusion

The critiques leveled against Christopher Mutsvangwa by Kerina Mujati and Saviour Kasukuwere illustrate deep divisions within Zimbabwe’s political establishment. These accusations highlight the fragility of liberation war narratives and the challenges of preserving historical integrity in a polarized political environment. As public discourse continues to evolve, the importance of accountability and transparency in leadership cannot be overstated.

Mutsvangwa’s response—or lack thereof—will undoubtedly shape the next phase of this unfolding story. For now, the allegations remain a critical flashpoint in Zimbabwe’s ongoing reckoning with its past and the conduct of its present leaders.

Video of Syrians Ransacking State House After 50Yrs Assad Family Ruled Country Since Mnangagwa’s Rhodesia-CIO-Prison-Release To Infiltrate Zambia, ZANLA

Parallels of Turmoil – State House Looting in Syria, Zimbabwean Power Struggles, and Regional Unrest

Global Spotlight on Dictatorship, Protest, and Alleged Betrayal

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | In a dramatic turn of events, Syrian civilians stormed and looted the Presidential Palace following the fall of the Assad family’s five-decade grip on power. Videos of Syrians ransacking rooms, carrying out furniture and electronics, and posing triumphantly in the once-mighty halls of the regime have shocked the world. These images symbolize the collapse of a political dynasty synonymous with authoritarian rule and highlight the people’s determination to reclaim their future.

This development has drawn eerie parallels to ongoing controversies in Zimbabwe, where Emmerson Mnangagwa’s ascension to power continues to be shrouded in allegations of betrayal, manipulation, and authoritarian rule.

The Syrian Connection: Five Decades of Dynastic Rule Overthrown

The Assad family ruled Syria for over 50 years, solidifying their control through military strength and suppression of dissent. The recent storming of the palace comes amid a growing wave of protests across the Middle East against entrenched political elites. Syrian civilians, emboldened by a weakening regime, have turned anger into action, dismantling a symbol of oppression.

Zimbabwe’s Shadowed History: Mnangagwa’s Controversial Rise

As Syria grapples with its future, Zimbabwe faces renewed scrutiny over President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s controversial past. Recent revelations and allegations paint a picture of manipulation that began decades ago. Released from Rhodesian detention in the 1970s, Mnangagwa was reportedly tasked by the Rhodesian Special Branch to infiltrate Zambian institutions, particularly ZANLA freedom fighters.

Critics, including former First Lady Grace Mugabe and war veterans led by Cde Karen Kazingizi, allege that Mnangagwa was not a genuine freedom fighter. They claim his actions during the liberation struggle were designed to position him as Robert Mugabe’s successor. According to Grace Mugabe, Mnangagwa allegedly sought to undermine Mugabe even after Zimbabwe’s first elections in 1980, nearly orchestrating his demise to consolidate power.

Mozambique’s Unrest Mirrors Zimbabwe’s Tensions

Zimbabwe’s current administration has been further implicated in regional turmoil, with President Mnangagwa accused of supporting Daniel Chipo, an alleged election-rigging leader in neighboring Mozambique. Protests in Mozambique have erupted in response to Chipo’s contested election victory, with citizens refusing to recognize what they see as a stolen mandate.

This mirrors Zimbabwe’s own history of contested elections, authoritarian governance, and suppression of dissent. The alignment of Mnangagwa’s government with controversial leaders in the region has fueled concerns about Zimbabwe’s role in enabling undemocratic practices.

A Wave of Resistance Across Borders

The events in Syria, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique underscore a growing trend of citizens pushing back against entrenched regimes. From storming palaces to rejecting rigged elections, people are demanding accountability, justice, and a departure from decades of political manipulation.

While Syrians dismantle the vestiges of the Assad regime, Zimbabweans and Mozambicans are increasingly vocal about their discontent with leaders accused of undermining democratic values. The shared narratives of betrayal, unrest, and resilience link these countries in a broader struggle for liberation—not just from foreign powers, but from the shadows of their own leadership.

Global Implications

As these events unfold, the world watches closely. Will Syria’s collapse of authoritarianism inspire other nations to rise against entrenched powers? Or will regimes like Zimbabwe’s find ways to hold onto power through regional alliances and political machinations? One thing is certain: the fight for democracy and justice is far from over.

Conclusion

The looting of Syria’s Presidential Palace, Mnangagwa’s controversial past, and Mozambique’s contested elections highlight a shared struggle against authoritarian rule and rigged systems. From Harare to Damascus, the fight for freedom and accountability reverberates across borders, reminding us that history often repeats itself in unexpected and interconnected ways.

10 Die In Weekend Inter-Africa, Tipper Horror Crashes

By Crime and Courts Reporter- At least 10 lives were lost in two tragic road accidents this past weekend, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in Zimbabwe.

The first incident occurred early Sunday along the Harare-Bulawayo Road.

Seven people died when an Inter Africa bus collided with the rear of a stationary truck near the 330-kilometre mark around 3:30 AM. Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident, stating:
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 08/12/24 at around 0330 hours. Seven people were killed when an Inter Africa bus rammed into the back of a stationary truck. The number of injured victims is yet to be established.”

The victims’ bodies were transported to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary, while the injured are receiving treatment at the same facility.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, with more details expected soon.

Nyathi also issued a stern warning to communities along highways, condemning the looting of goods from accident sites:
“It is a serious criminal offence to take advantage of a road traffic accident and loot goods from haulage trucks or vehicles.”
On Friday evening another fatal crash occurred on the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road, where a Shackman Tipper truck overturned, killing two people and injuring 51 others.

The accident happened at around 6:40 PM near the 330-kilometre peg.

The truck, overloaded with 69 passengers, overturned and landed on its left side.

Eyewitnesses described the chaos as the vehicle lost control, with passengers screaming and many trapped beneath the wreckage.

Preliminary investigations suggest the truck was travelling at an unsafe speed.

Compounding the tragedy, the vehicle was not designed to carry passengers, raising questions about road safety enforcement.

Sixteen passengers escaped unharmed, while the injured were rushed to Hwange Colliery Hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

The Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road, like many highways in Zimbabwe, has a troubling history of accidents caused by overloading, mechanical faults, and reckless driving.

The use of non-passenger vehicles to transport people remains a significant concern, with police urging transport operators to adhere to safety laws.

“Drivers must avoid carrying passengers in vehicles not designated for human transportation,” said a ZRP statement.

Road accidents in Zimbabwe continue to claim lives at an alarming rate.

According to the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe, overloading, speeding, and poor road conditions are among the leading causes of fatalities.

A lack of enforcement of traffic regulations and public awareness further exacerbates the crisis.

As investigations into both accidents continue, authorities are calling for urgent measures to improve road safety and prevent similar tragedies.

Reasons for Themba Gorimbo’s Shocking 52-Second Knockout at UFC 310

By Sports Reporter | In the heart of the electrifying arena, under the glow of relentless spotlights, the stage was set for a clash that would echo through the annals of UFC history. Themba Gorimbo, known as “The Answer,” stepped into the octagon with the weight of expectation on his shoulders, his eyes set on the stars, dreaming of championship belts and legacy-defining victories. Across from him stood Vicente Luque, a warrior whose career had seen the highs of championship contention and the lows of recent defeats. As the clock ticked down to their bout at UFC 310, the air was thick with anticipation, the crowd buzzing with excitement for what promised to be a battle of wills, technique, and heart.

But in a shocking twist that left fans gasping, the fight ended not with the roar of victory, but with the silence of a sudden knockout. In just 52 seconds, the narrative of Gorimbo’s rising star was dramatically rewritten, leaving everyone to ponder the thin line between triumph and tragedy in the unforgiving world of mixed martial arts. Here is the story of a night where dreams were both shattered and reborn, in the blink of an eye.

Knockout in less than a minute

In an unexpected turn of events at UFC 310, Themba Gorimbo, a Zimbabwean fighter riding a wave of four consecutive wins, was swiftly knocked out by Vicente Luque in just 52 seconds. The match, which was anticipated to be a significant step for Gorimbo towards challenging for the UFC welterweight title, ended abruptly, leaving fans and analysts scrambling to understand what went wrong for “The Answer.”

The Fight Dynamics:
The bout, part of the preliminary card, began at approximately 8:20 PM ET at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Right from the opening bell, Luque was on the offensive. Despite Gorimbo’s favored status with odds at -155 by DraftKings Sportsbook, his strategy seemed to falter under Luque’s immediate pressure.

Key Factors Leading to the Knockout:

  1. Underestimation of Luque:
  • Gorimbo might have underestimated Luque, who despite his recent struggles, was listed as a +130 underdog. Luque, known for his finishing prowess, capitalized on this perception, showing he still possesses the skills that made him a formidable contender in the past.
  1. Preparation and Strategy:
  • Gorimbo’s game plan appeared to be thrown off. Coming off a string of decisions, Gorimbo was possibly too focused on outmaneuvering Luque on the feet or didn’t anticipate the immediate grappling threat. Luque, on the other hand, executed a perfect setup, dropping Gorimbo with a right hand and quickly transitioning into a submission.
  1. Mental and Physical Readiness:
  • The mental game in MMA is crucial. Gorimbo’s confidence might have led to an overcommitment in the striking exchanges, leaving him vulnerable. Physically, although Gorimbo has been in top form, the quickness of Luque’s attack could suggest a miscalculation in conditioning or an underestimation of Luque’s speed and power.
  1. Luque’s Tactical Advantage:
  • Luque’s experience shone brightly. His ability to adapt and seize the moment was evident when he clinched an anaconda choke after a brief exchange, putting Gorimbo to sleep without a chance to recover.
  1. Short Notice Preparation:
  • Gorimbo stepped in on short notice to replace Nick Diaz, which might have affected his preparation. While he had been training for a potential fight, the rapid change in opponent and the high stakes could have disrupted his usual fight camp rhythm.

Aftermath:
This defeat marks a significant setback for Gorimbo, who had his sights set on bigger names like Colby Covington. For Luque, this victory could be a redemption arc, proving to critics and fans alike that he’s not out of the game yet.

The quick finish has sparked discussions across the MMA community, with many reflecting on the unpredictability of the sport and the importance of never overlooking any opponent. As for Gorimbo, this loss might serve as a harsh lesson in the ruthlessness of the octagon, potentially redefining his approach to future fights.

This dramatic end to what was expected to be a competitive bout underscores the volatile nature of MMA, where fortunes can change in seconds.

51 Injured In Horror Crash

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Tragedy struck on Friday evening when a Shackman Tipper truck overturned along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road, claiming the lives of two people and leaving 51 others injured.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the accident occurred at approximately 6:40 PM near the 330-kilometre peg along the highway.

The truck, which was reportedly overloaded with 69 passengers, overturned and landed on its left side, causing the catastrophic accident.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck may have been travelling at an unsafe speed, a factor commonly linked to accidents on this road.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported hearing screams as the vehicle lost control, overturning and trapping passengers beneath its wreckage.

While 16 passengers miraculously escaped unhurt, emergency response teams faced challenges in retrieving injured individuals from the site, with darkness and the truck’s precarious position hampering rescue efforts.

The injured were rushed to Hwange Colliery Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.

The Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road has a troubling history of accidents, with a combination of overloading, mechanical faults, and reckless driving often cited as contributing factors.

The Shackman Tipper truck was not designed to carry passengers, raising questions about the enforcement of road safety regulations.

Police have urged drivers and transport operators to adhere to road safety laws and to avoid carrying passengers in vehicles not designated for human transportation.

Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are ongoing.
