Cameroon vs Zimbabwe, Warriors Could Destroy the Lions in AFCON Qualification

By Sports Reporter | ZimEye | Cameroon and Zimbabwe will face off tomorrow at 13:00 in a highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification match. The game, part of Group J, promises to be a thrilling contest as both teams aim to secure their spots in the tournament.

The two teams have met four times across all competitions, with Cameroon emerging victorious twice and the other two encounters ending in draws. Zimbabwe has yet to claim a win against the Indomitable Lions, making tomorrow’s match an opportunity to rewrite history. Their most recent meeting in September 2024 ended in a goalless draw, while Cameroon narrowly defeated Zimbabwe 1-0 in the 2021 CAF African Nations Championship.

Form Guide

Cameroon: The Indomitable Lions have shown mixed form in the qualifiers, recently securing dominant wins against Kenya (4-1 and 1-0) but struggling in a goalless draw against Namibia. With six goals scored and only one conceded during the qualifiers, Cameroon boasts a strong defense and clinical attack.

Zimbabwe: The Warriors, on the other hand, have been inconsistent. They secured back-to-back victories against Namibia (1-0 and 3-1) but faltered in previous matches against Eswatini. Zimbabwe’s defense has conceded twice in the qualifiers, reflecting areas of concern heading into this critical clash.

Key Stats:

Goals Scored: Cameroon leads with six goals, while Zimbabwe has netted five.

Passing Accuracy: Cameroon’s players show superior ball control with an 87.34% passing accuracy compared to Zimbabwe’s 75.71%.

Shots on Target: Zimbabwe has attempted more shots overall (49) compared to Cameroon (41), but Cameroon has been more clinical.

What’s at Stake?

With AFCON qualification on the line, both teams will be looking to capitalize on their strengths. Cameroon’s solid defense and clinical finishing make them favorites, but Zimbabwe’s resilience and history of pushing Cameroon to tight contests could turn the tide.

Fans’ Anticipation

Fans from both nations are eagerly awaiting the match, with Zimbabwe hoping to secure a historic win and Cameroon aiming to maintain their dominance. The outcome of this game could significantly influence the standings in Group J, making it a must-watch for football enthusiasts.

Can Zimbabwe Defeat Cameroon? An Analytical Perspective.

We examine historical data, current form, and the potential impact a victory would have on Zimbabwe’s football status.

Cameroon’s History of Dominance

Cameroon has a storied legacy in African football, having won AFCON five times. Historically, the Indomitable Lions have been a thorn in Zimbabwe’s side, winning two of their four previous encounters and never suffering a loss. Their well-organized defense, physicality, and ability to grind out results make them a formidable opponent.

Cameroon has also shown consistency in major tournaments, leveraging their squad depth and experience to dominate smaller teams. In the current AFCON qualification campaign, they’ve conceded only one goal, indicating a defense that is difficult to breach.

Zimbabwe’s Chances: A Glimmer of Hope

Despite Cameroon’s historical dominance, there are reasons to believe Zimbabwe can cause an upset:

1. Defensive Vulnerabilities in Recent Matches:

While Cameroon boasts a strong defense, Namibia held them to a goalless draw in their last qualifier. Zimbabwe can draw inspiration from this, particularly given their ability to score multiple goals in key matches, such as their 3-1 win against Namibia.

2. Zimbabwe’s Momentum:

The Warriors have shown flashes of brilliance in their qualification campaign. Their two wins against Namibia demonstrated their ability to capitalize on opponents’ errors, and their recent draw against Cameroon shows they can hold their own against stronger teams.

3. Cameroon Under Pressure:

Cameroon may enter the match as favorites, but this status comes with its own pressures. Zimbabwe could exploit this by playing a defensive, counter-attacking game, forcing Cameroon into mistakes.

What’s at Stake for Zimbabwe?

If Zimbabwe manages to defeat Cameroon, it would not only mark their first victory against the Indomitable Lions but also create ripples across African football. Here’s what it could mean for the Warriors:

1. Boost in Global Standing:

Beating a powerhouse like Cameroon would significantly enhance Zimbabwe’s reputation on the international stage. It would prove they can compete with Africa’s elite teams, potentially attracting more attention from sponsors and foreign leagues for Zimbabwean players.

2. Momentum for Future Matches:

A victory would give the Warriors immense confidence heading into future qualifiers and tournaments. It could act as a turning point for Zimbabwe, helping them secure qualification for AFCON and perform better in the competition itself.

3. Fan and National Pride:

Zimbabwe’s passionate football fans have long waited for a moment of glory. Defeating Cameroon would not only unite the country in celebration but also reignite faith in Zimbabwean football, which has faced numerous challenges in recent years.

What Zimbabwe Needs to Do to Win

To secure a win, Zimbabwe must:

1. Stay Compact Defensively:

Cameroon thrives on quick transitions and set pieces. Zimbabwe’s defense must remain disciplined and focused, avoiding costly mistakes.

2. Capitalize on Counter-Attacks:

With Cameroon likely to dominate possession, Zimbabwe must use their speed to exploit gaps in Cameroon’s backline.

3. Target Key Players:

Cameroon’s top performers, such as their forwards and playmakers, must be neutralized. A high press and physical approach could disrupt their rhythm.

4. Maximize Set-Pieces:

Zimbabwe should use free kicks and corners to their advantage, as Cameroon has shown moments of vulnerability in aerial duels.

The Potential Legacy of Victory

Should Zimbabwe prevail, the victory would symbolize resilience and determination in the face of adversity. It would mark a historic moment for the Warriors, proving they are capable of challenging Africa’s best teams. For Zimbabwean football, this could be the beginning of a new era, inspiring a generation of players and fans alike.

While Cameroon remains the favorite on paper, football is unpredictable. Zimbabwe has the tools to cause an upset—it will come down to execution, belief, and seizing the moment when it matters most. A win tomorrow could not only secure AFCON qualification but also solidify Zimbabwe’s place in African football history.

The stage is set, and all eyes will be on the two teams tomorrow. Will Cameroon extend their unbeaten record against Zimbabwe, or will the Warriors finally conquer the Indomitable Lions? Stay tuned for updates! – ZimEye

According to Ndlovu ARC has raised over US$250 million from donors to create a fund with the African Development Fund (ADRIFI) to subsidise insurance programmes and expand access to insurance coverage.

“The award demonstrates the importance that is being attached to disaster preparedness and financing  which is increasingly important due to the rising frequency and severity of natural disasters in Africa. This year El Nino caused a devastating drought in Southern Africa,” he said.Time Magazine said finance was the climate story of 2024.“And it’s a theme that has proved inescapable in our TIME100 Climate list of influential climate leaders in business this year. Around the world, decision makers, executives, researchers, and innovators are working to help unlock the necessary funding and resources needed to drive successful and equitable climate action,” Time said.

Shock as Ghana Misses Out on 2025 AFCON Qualification

Sports Correspondent

Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, have suffered a shock failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, ending a two-decade streak of continuous qualification. The setback came after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Angola on Friday, effectively sealing their exclusion from next year’s tournament.

In the aftermath, Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has responded strongly to the growing calls for his dismissal. Speaking to critics, Addo defended his experience and the weight of his coaching background, referencing his time working under notable figures such as Matthias Sammer, Jürgen Klopp, and Edin Terzic at Borussia Dortmund. He pointed out that, while criticism is part of the job, insights from established coaches like Klopp hold far more significance than the opinions of those who may not fully understand the nuances of coaching.

As quoted by Ghana Web, Addo remarked:
“I trained under Sammer. I trained under Klopp; I was assistant to Edin Terzic, who was Dortmund’s head coach. They are also critical of some things, but this has much more value if I speak to Jürgen Klopp and he says this or that than somebody from anywhere saying blah blah, this is bad.”

“People can judge me, and surely, most people can judge me by my results, which were not good,” he added, acknowledging the disappointment but asserting that his coaching experience still holds merit.

With qualification hopes now dashed, the Black Stars will play their final qualifier at home against Niger on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The match, set to kick off at 6 PM CAT, will be a formality, as Ghana’s chances of progression are already over. The focus now shifts to rebuilding and looking ahead to future competitions.

ED Pfee Hitmaker Battles Cancer

By Ngoni K Danzwa

It is quite sad to learn that the ZANU PF music star Chief Hwenje (real name Admire Sanyanga Sibanda) is battling cancer. We sincerely wish him well and pray that he recovers.

We also hope that it is in such moments of sickness when he must reflect and come to the realization that, it can’t be “Tsepete Tsepete” when the healthcare system is in a bad state.

It can’t be “Tsepete Tsepete” when cancer treatment is highly unaffordable and beyond the reach of many.

It can’t be “Tsepete Tsepete” when doctors and nurses are underpaid and therefore demotivated.

Get well soon mukuru.

Is Emmerson Mnangagwa Hiding His True Age?

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is facing mounting controversy over the authenticity of his age, with rumors swirling that he may have concealed his true birth date in an attempt to appear younger.

While the official narrative holds that Mnangagwa was born in 1942, making him 82 years old in 2024, critics are questioning whether the veteran leader is manipulating his age for political advantage.

The debate ignited after old photographs of Mnangagwa from the year 2000 resurfaced, showing him with distinct grey hair.

However, more recent images of the President show him with a full head of black hair, prompting allegations of age manipulation.

This situation has drawn comparisons to the practice of “age cheating” in sports, where athletes downplay their age to gain an advantage or prolong their careers.

In Mnangagwa’s case, some believe he is using a similar strategy to project an image of vitality and political longevity.

Despite the growing speculation, the President has yet to publicly address the allegations.

A government spokesperson dismissed the rumors as “mere sideshows,” arguing: “Why would the President fake his age? It’s baseless.” The statement sought to downplay the controversy, positioning it as a distraction from more pressing national issues.

Nevertheless, critics remain unconvinced, pointing to the striking difference in Mnangagwa’s appearance as evidence of potential age manipulation.

The debate over his true age has become a topic of heated discussion both within Zimbabwe and internationally, raising questions about the leader’s health, political future, and whether the age controversy is being used to bolster his image ahead of upcoming elections.

In a nation already rife with political tension, the issue of age has taken on symbolic significance, further intensifying the scrutiny of Mnangagwa’s leadership.

Whether or not the allegations are true, they have sparked curiosity and debate, with the President’s true age remaining a subject of intense speculation.

Until Mnangagwa offers an explanation, the question of his age is unlikely to fade from the political discourse anytime soon.

Nelson Chamisa Unleashes Strong “Biblical Bomb ” On Mnangagwa

By Tinashe Sambiri

Zimbabwean opposition leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa, has made it clear that his unwavering faith in God will guide him through the political challenges he faces, including his ongoing struggle against his political rivals.

In a powerful statement shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, Chamisa outlined how he intends to use the strength of his faith and the teachings of the Bible to confront the “bullet”.

In his post, Chamisa drew inspiration from the biblical figure of King David, particularly citing Psalm 109:1-5, which he believes mirrors his own political battles. The verses in question describe a righteous man being surrounded by deceit and hatred, yet turning to prayer and faith as his ultimate strength.

Chamisa shared the passage with his followers, saying, “King David inspires me!” He then quoted the verses that resonated with him:

“My God, whom I praise, do not remain silent,
for people who are wicked and deceitful
have opened their mouths against me;
they have spoken against me with lying tongues.
With words of hatred they surround me;
they attack me without cause.
In return for my friendship they accuse me,
but I am a man of prayer.
They repay me evil for good,
and hatred for my friendship.”

The opposition leader’s choice of these verses is poignant, as they reflect his belief that, like King David, he too faces unjust attacks and false accusations from his political enemies. The use of Psalm 109 underscores his conviction that prayer and faith, rather than violence or retaliation, are the tools he will rely on in his battle against injustice.

Chamisa concluded his message by expressing gratitude and faith in God: “Blessed Sunday! #Godisinit nc”. This declaration of faith serves as a reminder to his supporters that, despite the adversities he faces, he remains grounded in prayer and trusts in divine intervention to navigate the tumultuous political landscape.

Chamisa’s reference to “the bullet” is a clear metaphor for the intense political pressure and personal attacks he has faced from the ruling government.

However, his emphasis on spiritual resilience suggests that he sees his faith as a more powerful weapon than any form of violence or aggression.

The young leader’s message not only reflects his personal faith but also serves to rally his followers, many of whom see him as a beacon of hope for a Zimbabwe free from tyranny.

By turning to the Bible, Chamisa positions himself as a leader who relies on divine guidance and moral strength rather than resorting to the political tactics employed by his adversaries.

With the 2023 elections in Zimbabwe looming, Chamisa’s faith-based approach to leadership could resonate deeply with the electorate, who have long endured political repression and violence.

His public demonstration of faith could strengthen his political position and galvanize support for his vision of a democratic Zimbabwe.

In the end, Chamisa’s message is clear: “God is in it”—and with prayer and faith, he believes he can overcome the “bullets” that are aimed at him.

Total Power Blackout at Chitungwiza Central Hospital

The situation at Chitungwiza Central Hospital has become critical, as the facility has been plunged into a total power blackout with no backup power available. Eyewitnesses and reports from the hospital reveal that both patients and staff are resorting to using their mobile phones as makeshift flashlights to navigate the darkened corridors.

“Patients and staff have no choice but to use their phones as torches,” one source at the hospital shared. “The conditions here are very concerning, especially for those in critical care.”

Zimbabwe has been grappling with persistent power shortages for some time, largely due to a combination of factors, including low water levels at the Kariba Dam, which is crucial for the country’s hydroelectric power generation. The national grid’s capacity has been further strained by ongoing issues at the country’s key power stations.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) acknowledged the power crisis and explained that the situation had been worsened by technical faults at the Hwange Power Station.

“ZESA Holdings would like to advise its valued stakeholders that the national power grid is currently experiencing reduced electricity generation capacity due to a technical fault at Hwange Power Station,” the statement read. “This has been further compounded by low generation capacity at Kariba Power Station, resulting from low water levels.”

The power utility assured the public that its technical teams were working to resolve the issue. “Our technical teams are actively working to resolve the fault at Hwange to minimize the impact on our customers. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused,” ZETDC said.

Despite these efforts, the ongoing power shortages continue to have a severe impact on critical facilities such as Chitungwiza Central Hospital, where reliable electricity is essential for patient care. The hospital’s management and staff are calling for urgent interventions to restore power and ensure the safety and well-being of patients.

How Injuries to Star Players Shift Serie A Betting Lines

In the world of Serie A, star players are like the suns around which entire teams orbit. Their influence on the pitch not only defines outcomes but also sends ripples through betting markets. When these key players face injuries, the betting landscape doesn’t just shift—it transforms. But what exactly happens when a star is sidelined? Let’s unravel the layers behind this fascinating phenomenon.

The Domino Effect: From the Pitch to the Bookmakers

Sport celebrities are not only performers; they are also vital Organs for their Teams. Whenever they are out of action, the effects are felt beyond the dressing room and into the outfields. Everybody, from bookmakers to bettors, is running for covers to rethink odds, plans, and prospects. Why? As any other top league, it all boils down to the performers and stories that Serie A provided to enthusiasts and casual football fans.

When injuries occur, it is not only the probability that changes dramatically, which is in fact matched by the psychology of the betting market. Perm TASK Users of football often experience an emotional response and tend to overlook the capacity of managers to change or other players to perform better. This emotional response often tilts the odds, creating a brief window of opportunity for those with a more analytical approach. By understanding how odds-makers factor in the injury, smart bettors can find hidden value in the altered lines.

Moreover, media coverage plays a pivotal role in amplifying the perceived impact of injuries. When headlines scream that a star player is out, the betting public often assumes disaster for the team. However, seasoned bettors know that football is rarely a one-man show. Teams built on strong systems and collective effort can thrive even when their talisman is sidelined. Recognizing these dynamics can be the key to beating the bookies.

Serie A Predictions Season plays an equally significant role in identifying how injuries might shift not just betting lines but the broader expectations for a team’s performance throughout the year. Analysts often highlight these predictions to forecast outcomes that align with player availability.

1. Immediate Line Adjustments

As soon as news of a star player’s injury breaks, betting lines are the first to feel the tremors. Oddsmakers factor in:

  • Team performance metrics: How the team has fared without this player in the past.
  • Opponent strength: The likelihood of the opposing team exploiting the absence.
  • Market sentiment: How the betting public perceives the impact of the injury.

For instance, when a forward like Victor Osimhen misses a match, Napoli’s odds might lengthen significantly, reflecting a drop in their attacking potency.

2. The Public Reaction

Public perception plays a massive role in shaping betting lines. Casual bettors often overreact to star injuries, leading to inflated odds on the affected team. This overreaction creates opportunities for sharper bettors to find value in adjusted lines, leveraging their knowledge of team depth and tactical adaptability.

The Impact of Player Position on Odds

Not all injuries are created equal. The position and role of the injured player dramatically influence how betting lines shift.

1. Goalkeepers: The Last Line of Defense

Talking about long shots in soccer, it’s not only the moneyline but also the over/under value which changes whenever a truly elite player like ac milan’s mike maignan is sidelined. If the expectation is made to search for goal counts, it is usually the result of appointing a less experienced replacement.

The pressure which a team is subjected to especially when they are destined to have a goalkeeper is immeasurable. This position has always been regarded as the least glamorous position on the football pitch, contributors whose importance is rarely acknowledged. The absence of an optimal number one ranked goalkeeper is not only going to affect defensive formation but also the morale of that team. A shaky stand-in can lead to hesitation among defenders, further amplifying the potential for errors. Bettors who understand this often look at secondary markets, such as “both teams to score,” to exploit the instability caused by such an absence.

2. Strikers: The Headline Makers

Strikers are the poster boys of Serie A. When a prolific scorer like Lautaro Martínez is injured, Inter Milan’s goal-scoring odds and outright winning probabilities take a hit. For bettors, this often signals a potential shift toward lower-scoring games or a greater reliance on defensive tactics.

Interestingly, not all striker absences lead to disaster. Some teams use injuries as a chance to experiment tactically. For example, a manager might opt for a false nine system, relying on midfielders to compensate for the lack of a target man. Understanding how a coach adapts tactically can provide a sharper edge in betting markets, especially when the odds seem to overestimate the impact of a striker’s absence.

3. Midfielders and Defenders: The Unsung Heroes

While their absence may not cause dramatic line movements, injuries to midfield generals or key defenders can subtly tilt odds. Without a player to dictate tempo or anchor the defense, even top teams like Juventus can look vulnerable.

The hidden impact of losing a key midfielder is often underestimated by casual bettors. Midfielders link play between defense and attack, and their absence can disrupt a team’s entire rhythm. Similarly, losing a defensive stalwart affects a team’s ability to shut down threats. Bettors who research the tactical role of these players often find opportunities to exploit markets where these nuances are overlooked.

The Silver Lining for Savvy Bettors

Injury news can feel like chaos, but for strategic bettors, it’s an opportunity. With a little research and sharp analysis, injuries can present chances to exploit overreactions or undervalued odds.

1. Deep Dive Into Team Depth

A team’s ability to adapt depends on the quality of its bench. If Napoli loses Osimhen, bettors who know that Giovanni Simeone can step up might still back them confidently.

2. Focus on Tactical Adjustments

Injuries force managers to tweak strategies. For example:

  • A team might shift from an attacking 4-3-3 to a conservative 4-4-2.
  • Defenders could focus more on compact formations, reducing the chances of high-scoring games.

3. Check Historical Performance

Review how a team has performed without the injured star in similar scenarios. If past results show resilience, the odds may not tell the full story.

The Role of Analytics in Understanding Injury Impact

In today’s data-driven betting world, injuries aren’t just analyzed in isolation. Advanced metrics and analytics help bettors and oddsmakers measure the precise impact of missing players.

xG (Expected Goals) and Player Contribution

Expected Goals (xG) metrics highlight how much a star player contributes to a team’s attacking output. If a player accounts for 30% of their team’s xG, their absence is a significant blow.

Team Cohesion Metrics

Some teams operate like well-oiled machines, making up for individual absences with cohesive play. By analyzing metrics like pass completion rates and defensive solidity, bettors can gauge whether the team’s system can fill the gap left by a star.

Real-World Examples of Injury Impact in Serie A

1. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Absences at Juventus

During his stint at Juventus, Ronaldo’s injuries created seismic shifts in betting lines. Without his guaranteed goals, Juventus often saw their odds lengthen, but savvy bettors noticed the team’s ability to grind out results with a tighter defense.

2. Zlatan Ibrahimović’s Late-Career Struggles

Zlatan’s recurring injuries at AC Milan had bettors divided. While Milan’s odds shifted, those who trusted the squad’s depth reaped rewards during his absences.

Resources for Staying Ahead of the Curve

To navigate these complexities, staying informed is crucial. Top resources like AskGamblers offer comprehensive guides and betting insights. Other platforms like SBR and OddsChecker provide real-time updates on odds and injury news.

Wrapping It Up

Injuries to star players are the wildcards of Serie A betting. They inject uncertainty, shake up strategies, and create opportunities for those willing to dive deep into the nuances. The next time a Serie A superstar is sidelined, don’t just see it as a setback—see it as a new chapter in the ever-evolving story of sports betting.

Emmerson Mnangagwa In Age Cheating Storm

By A Correspondent

Controversy has recently surrounded Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa regarding the authenticity of his age.

While the official narrative states that Mnangagwa was born in 1942, making him 82 years old in 2024, rumours and speculation have begun to swirl, suggesting that the veteran leader may be concealing his true age in an effort to appear younger.

The controversy started when a series of old photographs of Mnangagwa from the year 2000 surfaced, showing him with noticeably grey hair.

Fast forward to the present, and the same leader is often seen sporting a full head of black hair, leading some critics to question whether this change in appearance reflects a deliberate attempt to present a younger image.

In football, this sort of discrepancy is often referred to as “age cheating,” a practice where athletes intentionally downplay their age to appear younger and prolong their careers.

Some are now accusing Mnangagwa of engaging in a similar form of age manipulation, albeit for political reasons rather than sports.

Despite the growing speculation, President Mnangagwa has yet to directly address the allegations of age falsification.

A government spokesperson was quick to dismiss the rumors, calling them “mere sideshows” and vehemently denying the claims.

In a statement, the spokesperson argued: “Why would the President fake his age? It’s baseless.”

The official response underscores the government’s stance that these allegations are nothing more than distractions from more pressing national issues.

However, critics are not so easily convinced.

They point to the apparent discrepancy in Mnangagwa’s appearance over the years as evidence that there may be more to the story.

While the President’s office insists that the allegations are unfounded, the debate about Mnangagwa’s true age has sparked curiosity, both locally and internationally.

In a country where political tensions are high and the opposition frequently criticizes the ruling Zanu PF party, the issue of age falsification has taken on a symbolic significance. It adds to the ongoing scrutiny of Mnangagwa’s leadership, especially as the nation prepares for upcoming elections.

Some see the age controversy as an attempt to portray Mnangagwa as more vibrant and capable, even as questions about his health and political longevity continue to circulate.

While the allegations of age faking remain unproven, they have certainly raised eyebrows and added fuel to the already intense political discourse surrounding Zimbabwe’s presidency.

Until President Mnangagwa himself offers an explanation, the debate over his true age seems unlikely to subside anytime soon.

Half a Century in Aviation: From Air Rhodesia to Air Zimbabwe

By Dorrrothy Moyo | ZimEye | Nearly five decades ago, in July 1976, Air Rhodesia was at the forefront of regional aviation with its iconic Boeing 720-025 jet. The aircraft, photographed at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport (then Jan Smuts Airport), represented a burgeoning airline that connected Southern Africa. This classic image captures the elegance of Air Rhodesia’s fleet during an era when air travel was synonymous with glamour and exclusivity.

Fast forward to today, Air Zimbabwe, the successor to Air Rhodesia, stands as a reflection of the changes and challenges the airline industry has faced in the country. The modern photograph shows an Air Zimbabwe Embraer ERJ-145 jet, a far cry from the larger fleets of the past. Over the years, the airline’s fleet has significantly diminished, and with it, the scope of its routes.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the airline proudly operated domestic routes connecting major cities such as Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, and Chipinge, and offered long-haul flights to destinations like London. However, today, those flights to Mutare and Chipinge have ceased, leaving travelers with limited domestic options. Similarly, Air Zimbabwe’s once-prestigious direct flights to London, a key link to the diaspora and international markets, are no longer operational.

The decline in fleet size and route availability highlights the impact of economic challenges and mismanagement that the airline has faced over the years. While the Boeing 720 of yesteryears was a testament to the technological advancements and ambitions of the time, today’s Embraer jet underscores a scaled-down approach aimed at maintaining operational efficiency amidst financial struggles.

Despite these setbacks, Air Zimbabwe continues to play a symbolic role in the nation’s identity, carrying the colors of the Zimbabwean flag and serving as a reminder of the country’s aviation heritage. These two images, separated by 48 years, stand as a stark juxtaposition of what was and what remains, blending nostalgia with the hope of eventual resurgence in the nation’s aviation industry.

Gold Panic In Manhidze

By Business Reporter- A gold rush has erupted in Manhidze, Chirumhanzu district, in the Midlands Province, exposing what appears to be a long-running cover-up by Chinese miners claiming to be extracting iron ore in the area.

The discovery of gold has sparked a frenzy among locals, drawing people from as far as Mvuma and Chivhu to the site.

Last week, villagers stumbled upon gold deposits, leading to a rapid influx of fortune seekers.

However, the authorities have since stepped in, with police cordoning off the area and preventing locals from accessing the precious metal.

This has only fueled suspicions about the true nature of operations in Manhidze, particularly given the presence of Chinese firms that have long claimed they were mining iron ore.

The incident bears eerie similarities to the Chiadzwa diamond saga of 2007 in Marange, Manicaland Province, where villagers discovered diamonds.

Initially benefiting locals, the discovery quickly turned into a nightmare as the government deployed the military to suppress artisanal miners violently.

Soldiers were accused of brutalising villagers, forcing them out of the diamond-rich area, and seizing control of the mining operations.

Reports later emerged implicating the military in widespread looting of the Chiadzwa diamonds, with the proceeds allegedly used to fund various clandestine activities, including the 2017 military coup that ousted long-time ruler Robert Mugabe and brought President Emmerson Mnangagwa to power.

The parallels between Manhidze and Chiadzwa raise questions about the government’s ability—or willingness—to safeguard natural resources for the benefit of citizens.

In both cases, foreign firms, particularly Chinese companies, have been a common thread, often sparking accusations of complicity in resource exploitation.

Observers have long criticised the opaque nature of Zimbabwe’s extractive industries, where corruption, mismanagement, and a lack of transparency have allowed elites and foreign interests to profit. At the same time, ordinary citizens are excluded from the wealth generated by the country’s natural resources.

Tshabangu Thrown Into The Dust Bin

By Political Reporter-The fractured Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) as acting president Welshman Ncube has stripped the party’s self-imposed secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu of his powers.

Ncube, who rotates the presidency with Tendai Biti, publicly dismissed Tshabangu, describing him as an ordinary party member with no authority to influence the party’s direction.

Speaking through party spokesperson Willias Madzimure, the Ncube faction declared Tshabangu’s claims illegitimate.
“The moment there are talks between Tshabangu and Ncube, we would be implying he is a ,” said Madzimure. “political party leaderBut he is claiming to be the secretary-general of the party and he can’t be the leader of the party at the same time.”

Tshabangu rose to prominence in the CCC earlier this year after claiming to be the party’s interim secretary.

Allegedly backed by Ncube and Biti, Tshabangu spearheaded a campaign that sowed discord and frustration for CCC founder Nelson Chamisa.

Using the self-imposed position, Tshabangu fired several CCC lawmakers aligned with the Chamisa.

The manoeuvring and infiltration by Zanu PF forced Chamisa to retreat from the forefront of the movement.

Auxillia Claims Expertise On Fixing Infidelity

Auxillia Mnangagwa Claims Expertise in Addressing Infidelity and Family Breakdown

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – November 18, 2024

First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa has sparked widespread conversation after boldly addressing the rising issue of infidelity during an interface in Bulawayo, where she claimed to have insights and strategies to combat the growing epidemic of extramarital affairs and family breakdowns. Her remarks, made as part of the Afrikana Family Humanism Programme, have drawn both praise and scrutiny.

In her speech, Dr. Mnangagwa expressed alarm over reports indicating that women are increasingly becoming the main culprits in infidelity, a shift she described as “disturbing.” She revealed that her office, through its toll-free line (575), has been receiving numerous reports of gender-based violence (GBV) and marital discord linked to this issue.

“Today, we delve into an issue that resonates deeply within our communities,” she said. “Our families are the backbone of our society. It is our duty to ensure they remain strong, united, and nurturing, yet we find ourselves at a crossroads where the sanctity of marriage and the essence of family life are under threat.”

The First Lady lamented that women, traditionally viewed as victims of abuse, are now being reported as instigators of infidelity. However, she emphasized the importance of understanding the root causes behind this behavior.

“For too long, women have suffered in silence. They need to be supported to break free from some of the behaviors they are now picking up,” she explained.

Mnangagwa also pointed to a breakdown in marital communication and the role of men in exacerbating the crisis. She criticized husbands for failing to provide the emotional and physical support their spouses require.

“We try to look good and do our best for our husbands, but sometimes they fail us by not giving us the love we deserve,” she said. “Instead, they come home heavily intoxicated and violent.”

The First Lady’s remarks were part of her broader campaign to address the rising rates of violent crime and divorce across Zimbabwe. Through the Afrikana Family Humanism Programme, she aims to restore traditional family values and tackle the underlying issues causing marital strife.

Dr. Mnangagwa’s comments have ignited a robust national debate. Supporters praised her for confronting sensitive societal issues and advocating for stronger family bonds. However, critics argue that her remarks place undue blame on women while not holding men adequately accountable for their roles in fostering a healthy marital environment.

Speaking to a diverse audience of men and women, the First Lady called for unity in addressing the crisis. “It is a collective responsibility,” she said. “We must work together to rebuild our families and restore harmony in our homes.”

The initiative comes at a time when Zimbabwe is grappling with escalating divorce rates, reports of GBV, and the erosion of family structures. Whether the First Lady’s program will have a measurable impact on these challenges remains to be seen, but her bold statements have undoubtedly placed the issue of infidelity and family unity at the forefront of the national agenda.- Ziana

Man Bashed By Wife Over Prophetic Payments

Masvingo, Zimbabwe – A heated domestic dispute in Jerera Village, Guwa, turned violent after a 60-year-old woman, Sabina Mandizvidza, allegedly assaulted her husband, Richard Butire (63), with a metal rod. The altercation arose from a disagreement over Mandizvidza paying a prophet with a goat for cleansing rituals without her husband’s knowledge or consent.

Mandizvidza, who appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Lynette Mudzingo, admitted involvement in the scuffle but denied intentionally assaulting Butire. She claimed his injuries resulted from a fall during the altercation. The court remanded her out of custody pending further proceedings.

Prosecutor Precious Takuva told the court that the altercation occurred on April 30, 2024, at approximately 5:30 PM. Butire confronted Mandizvidza about the payment, which escalated into a physical altercation. Mandizvidza allegedly struck her husband twice on the forehead with a metal rod, causing two cuts. A medical report confirmed the injuries were caused by a blunt object.

Mandizvidza, however, argued that her husband was drunk, attempted to attack her, and fell, sustaining the injuries. She further alleged that Butire filed the report to retaliate after she sought maintenance, claiming he neglected her for another wife.

Other cases.

The case highlights critical legal principles in domestic violence, spousal maintenance, and financial transparency within marriage. Below are five relevant case law examples:

1. Mupawaenda v. Mupawaenda (2009) ZLR 435 (HC)

This case emphasized that disputes over family finances must be addressed amicably, and violence undermines the sanctity of marriage. Courts have often ruled that both spouses must consent to significant financial decisions involving shared resources.

2. S v. Chibanda (1987) ZLR 326 (SC)

In this case, the court held that self-defense must be proportional to the threat posed. Mandizvidza’s claim of self-defense may be scrutinized to determine if striking her husband with a metal rod was a proportionate response.

3. Magaya v. Magaya (1999) ZLR 100 (SC)

This case dealt with maintenance obligations, reaffirming that spouses are legally obligated to support each other, even in estranged relationships. Mandizvidza’s claim that her husband neglected her financial needs may factor into the court’s considerations.

4. S v. Banana (1998) ZLR 309 (SC)

This case clarified that domestic violence is a crime irrespective of the relationship between the parties. The court emphasized that cultural or personal justifications cannot excuse violence within a marriage.

5. S v. Chakamoga (2005) ZLR 1 (H)

The court in this case held that intoxication is not a defense for domestic violence but may mitigate sentencing if proven to impair judgment. Butire’s alleged intoxication could influence the court’s view on his role in escalating the dispute.

The incident has sparked debate in Jerera Village about the role of communication in marital finances and the societal implications of domestic violence. “Couples must resolve their issues peacefully, especially when it involves money or spiritual matters,” said a local resident.

Celebration Time Coming : Nelson Chamisa

Tinashe Sambiri

Zimbabwean opposition leader, Advocate Nelson Chamisa, has called on citizens to remain steadfast in the face of ongoing challenges, emphasizing that the fight for change is far from over. Despite the setbacks caused by the ruling Zanu PF party, Chamisa remains confident that a better future is within reach.

In a powerful statement released last week, Chamisa urged the nation to continue their struggle, insisting that “all sacrifices are never in vain.” He encouraged Zimbabweans to “trust the process” as they work toward political and social transformation, adding, “It’s separation time. We will see our celebration day!”

Chamisa’s message resonated with those who have been disillusioned by the current regime, offering hope that change is not only possible but imminent.

As the opposition leader continues to rally support for his cause, his words remind the public that despite the difficulties, victory is achievable.

Guvamatanga Restricts Govt Budgets While Illegally Profiting from State Funds

By Farai D Hove | Harare, Zimbabwe – As Zimbabwe’s civil servants grapple with delayed bonuses and ministries face unprecedented budget restrictions, new allegations have surfaced against Finance Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga. Critics accuse him of prioritizing personal enrichment through illegal tender kickbacks instead of addressing the nation’s fiscal challenges.

George Guvamatanga

Guvamatanga, who has faced repeated accusations of corruption, is alleged to be siphoning state funds through exorbitant commissions on government tenders while imposing strict austerity measures on ministries and public servants. The restrictions come at a time when civil servants’ bonuses and critical services are at risk of collapse, sparking outrage across the country.

Tight Budgets, Loose Ethics

In a circular dated November 13, Guvamatanga announced severe budget constraints for November and December 2024, citing a lack of fiscal space due to a depreciating local currency and lagging revenue inflows. Ministries and departments have been instructed to prioritize only essential expenditures, leaving civil servants without their long-awaited bonuses.

“Given the limited fiscal space… non-wage budget support for the months of November and December will be severely constrained,” Guvamatanga stated in the memo.

Yet, behind the scenes, sources claim Guvamatanga continues to exploit government tenders for personal gain. Allegedly, he demands up to 30% in kickbacks to release payments for contractors and agencies doing business with the state, enriching himself while the country’s workforce suffers.

“There’s No Money—Except for Him”

“Guvamatanga keeps saying there’s no money,” a Treasury insider told ZimEye. “But he’s the one taking it. While ministries can’t pay bonuses or meet operational costs, he’s pocketing millions from illegal tender fees. It’s blatant theft.”

The insider revealed that Guvamatanga operates from a private office in Ballantyne Park, where he allegedly processes illicit payments. Preliminary estimates suggest these activities have cost the Treasury over USD $20 billion since 2018.

Civil Servants Left in Limbo

The delayed bonuses have left public sector workers furious, especially as inflation and currency depreciation erode their already meager salaries. Many see the restrictions as a smokescreen for deeper corruption within the Treasury, with Guvamatanga at the center.

“Instead of cutting back on his illegal income streams, he’s making us pay the price,” said one civil servant. “It’s like he’s punishing the entire country to sustain his lifestyle.”

Misplaced Priorities

While Guvamatanga justifies the budget cuts as necessary to prioritize critical areas like food security and agriculture, critics argue that plugging the leak in state funds caused by his alleged corruption would do far more to stabilize the economy.

Political observers point to growing tensions between Guvamatanga and his boss, Deputy Finance Minister David Kudakwashe Mnangagwa, who is reportedly frustrated by his inability to curb corruption in the Treasury. Mnangagwa, known for his integrity, is said to have encountered significant resistance in his efforts to impose transparency.

Mounting Pressure

Calls for accountability are growing louder, with activists and civil servants demanding an independent investigation into Guvamatanga’s financial dealings. “How can someone who claims there’s no money be sitting on millions from tenders?” asked an economic analyst. “This isn’t fiscal management—it’s daylight robbery.”

As Zimbabwe enters a critical period of financial uncertainty, the spotlight remains firmly on Guvamatanga. For civil servants left without bonuses and ministries struggling to function, the question remains: how much longer can Zimbabwe afford Guvamatanga’s double-dealing?

This is a developing story. More updates will follow.

Citizens Say Mnangagwa Isn’t Sincere At All About Promoting Children’s Rights

By A Correspondent

Victoria Falls – In what many are interpreting as a carefully crafted political speech, President Emmerson Mnangagwa recently officiated at the regional World Children’s Day celebrations at Baobab Primary School in Victoria Falls.

His address focused on the importance of empowering youth and safeguarding children’s rights, but many are questioning whether his words translate into genuine action or if they are merely a political gimmick designed to appease regional leaders and international observers.

Speaking to gathered delegates, Mnangagwa stated, “Every leader has a responsibility to empower our youth. Through our coordinated efforts, we can create an environment that ensures our children are well-prepared for the future. It is my sincere hope that we are actively addressing the issues raised by children in our previous gatherings.”

These statements, though optimistic, raise significant doubts in light of Zimbabwe’s ongoing socio-economic challenges and the country’s track record when it comes to implementing policies that directly benefit children.

The President continued, “SADC stakeholders must strengthen the frameworks that impact our children, and we should work towards establishing a child protection protocol. Zimbabwe remains committed to advancing and upholding the rights of our children.”

While these remarks may sound encouraging on the surface, critics argue that they lack substance and are, at best, symbolic gestures.

In recent years, Zimbabwe has struggled with numerous issues impacting children, from the increasing number of children dropping out of school due to poverty, to reports of child labor and trafficking.

Even though Mnangagwa’s speech emphasizes a commitment to improving children’s lives, the practical measures to address these deep-rooted issues have been conspicuously absent.

A Pattern of Empty Promises?

This is not the first time the President has made broad statements on children’s welfare without offering concrete steps toward change. In 2021, Mnangagwa made similar claims at an international summit, promising better protections for children, only for these promises to fade into the background as Zimbabwe’s economic crisis deepened.

Local NGOs working in child protection have also expressed skepticism.

“It’s always encouraging to hear leaders talk about child rights, but the question remains – what is being done to address the challenges that children in Zimbabwe face every day?” asked Amanda Chitiga, the director of a Harare-based child welfare organization. “We see young children in the streets working, begging, and exposed to abuse, yet policies to safeguard their future are often forgotten once the cameras are off.”

Is There a Hidden Agenda?

Some also speculate that Mnangagwa’s focus on child welfare could be a calculated move to shore up his image ahead of future international engagements.

By positioning himself as a champion for children’s rights, he may be attempting to bolster his standing in the eyes of regional leaders and the international community.

The speech, coming at a time when Zimbabwe is under intense scrutiny for its human rights record, may have been aimed at appeasing SADC member states and other foreign bodies, ensuring that the narrative around his leadership remains positive despite domestic concerns.

While regional leaders and international organizations like UNICEF may commend the speech, the real test will be whether the government takes tangible steps to improve the conditions of children in Zimbabwe. Is Mnangagwa truly committed to children’s rights, or is he simply using them as a talking point to smooth over political tensions?

Until concrete actions are taken, Mnangagwa’s speech on World Children’s Day may remain nothing more than another in a long line of political promises designed to secure favuor without real change.

The future of Zimbabwe’s children deserves more than just words; it demands a shift in priorities and a genuine investment in their wellbeing.

Hackers Caught In The Act Soiling Zambian MP Elisha Matambo’s WhatsApp | Video

Breaking News: Two Hackers Caught in the Act After Hijacking Zambian MP Elisha Matambo’s WhatsApp Number

Date: November 17, 2024

Two hackers were caught red-handed after taking control of the WhatsApp number belonging to Zambian Member of Parliament, Hon. Elisha Matambo. The criminals were exposed during a live confrontation with ZimEye News Network editors, who intercepted and questioned them in a bid to stop the ongoing scam.

The Hackers’ Scheme

The hackers hijacked Hon. Matambo’s WhatsApp account and impersonated him, attempting to scam unsuspecting individuals. The fraudsters used the MP’s credibility to gain trust and requested personal information, potentially leading to further account takeovers.

Caught in the Act: Key Moments from the Confrontation

During the exchange with ZimEye editors, the hackers initially attempted to maintain their false identity. Below are some direct quotes from the confrontation:
• Editor: “How come you don’t sound Zambian at all? Why are you sending out a Zoom number claiming to be Hon. Elisha Matambo?”
• Hacker: “I’m not Ghanaian at all. Why would you think that?”

When the editors pressed further and demanded accountability, the hackers’ defensiveness escalated:
• Editor: “Return this number to the Honorable MP before I get you arrested!”
• Hacker: “You are a big animal! I’ve done nothing wrong. The number is mine now.”

In an attempt to expose the hacker, the editors requested a video call to verify their identity. The hackers reluctantly agreed but refused to show their faces:
• Editor: “Let’s do video. Let’s see your face. When are you going to return this number to the MP?”
• Hacker: “My face is in the camera, mate. You’re wasting your time.”

Further investigation revealed that the hackers were using the stolen number to initiate scams, with one hacker admitting, “This person hacked the Honorable MP’s number and is now going around hacking others using the same method.”

Public Advisory

ZimEye News Network warns the public to remain vigilant. If you receive messages or calls from Hon. Matambo’s number, do not engage. Instead:
1. Report the compromised number directly on WhatsApp using the “Report” feature.
2. Notify local authorities or cybersecurity experts.
3. Ensure your own WhatsApp account is secure by enabling two-factor authentication.

MP’s Office Response

Hon. Matambo’s office has confirmed they are aware of the incident and are taking steps to regain control of the account. In a statement, the team thanked ZimEye editors for their swift intervention and called on the public to report any suspicious activity involving the compromised number.

ZimEye’s Commitment

ZimEye News Network remains at the forefront of exposing cybercriminals and protecting the public from scams. They are working to alert Hon. Matambo and assist with resolving the situation.

This is a developing story. Updates will follow as more information becomes available. ZimEye urges everyone to remain cautious and report fraudulent activity immediately.

Zanu PF Throws Masimirembwa Under The Bus

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF’s Harare Provincial Chairperson, Godwills Masimirembwa, has been suspended for allegedly promoting the “ED2030” slogan, which refers to a push for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s re-election campaign for the year 2030.

The suspension was confirmed in a statement from provincial political commissar Kudakwashe Damson, dated November 14.

Masimirembwa’s suspension comes amid growing tensions within the party, particularly over campaign messaging.

This follows a recent attack on Masimirembwa’s offices at the Zimbabwe Legal Institute on Herbert Chitepo Street, where a petrol bomb was thrown, leaving a security guard with serious burns.

Details surrounding the motive behind both the slogan promotion and the attack remain unclear, as the party continues to investigate.

Gold Rush Near Mnangagwa’s Village

GoChatty Review: Why This Platform is Sparking Conversations Among Seniors

A Fresh Approach to Senior Dating

As someone who’s spent the majority of his adult life building businesses and navigating the high-stakes world of entrepreneurship, I didn’t think I’d be reviewing a dating platform for seniors. But after hearing some buzz about GoChatty, I decided to take a closer look—out of curiosity and, admittedly, a sense of wanting to know why this platform is starting to spark so much conversation among older adults.

The world of online dating has long been dominated by younger people. So, when it comes to seniors—individuals who have lived rich, full lives, and who might have different expectations or ideas about dating—what kind of experience would they get in a world designed largely for millennials? That was the question on my mind when I stumbled upon GoChatty and I decided to do a GoChatty review.

What caught my attention immediately was the way GoChatty doesn’t try to appeal to the broader online dating demographic. Instead, it targets those who are in the later stages of life, giving them a platform that’s tailored to their specific needs. Unlike other dating platforms that feel more like a popularity contest or a race to find someone attractive enough to chat with, GoChatty emphasizes communication and shared life experiences.

Many of us in our late 40s and beyond know that a good connection isn’t just about looks or instant attraction—there’s a lot more that goes into it. I have friends who’ve gone through divorces, who are in their second or third marriages, or who have lost spouses. For them, the idea of meeting someone new can be daunting. The pressures of traditional dating might not be what they’re looking for. GoChatty seems to understand this by fostering a more thoughtful and patient approach to forming connections. It’s not about rushing into something—it’s about forging relationships that are built on shared understanding, mutual respect, and the same values.

The website itself is simple, easy to navigate, and designed with older adults in mind. You don’t need to be a tech wizard to understand how to create a profile or start a conversation. There’s something reassuring about that—especially when you consider that many seniors haven’t grown up with online dating. GoChatty provides the right balance of simplicity and depth. It’s not just about sending a message and waiting for a response. It’s about engaging in conversations that matter.

What Makes GoChatty Stand Out for Seniors?

As an entrepreneur, I’ve seen my fair share of apps and platforms come and go. Most are designed to quickly grab attention and then fade into obscurity. But GoChatty caught my eye because it’s not trying to be everything to everyone—it’s focused on seniors, and that focus shows. What really sets GoChatty apart from other dating sites, particularly those catering to older adults, is how it handles communication. It’s not about being flashy or just about swiping left or right—it’s about real, meaningful interactions.

When I created my profile on GoChatty, I immediately noticed the different approach it took. For one, there was no rush. The platform didn’t prompt me to upload a bunch of photos and fill out a superficial “about me” section right off the bat. Instead, it encouraged me to think more deeply about what I was looking for, what my interests were, and what kind of relationship I was seeking. This emphasis on reflection rather than instant gratification makes a big difference for seniors who have lived through experiences that have shaped their desires and expectations. There’s a level of maturity and thoughtfulness embedded in the platform’s design that I think other dating sites often overlook.

Another reason I find GoChatty appealing is that it caters specifically to people who have lived longer lives and have different values when it comes to relationships. While the world of online dating can often feel overwhelming and somewhat superficial, GoChatty has managed to create a space where seniors can share stories, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company without the pressures and complications that younger, more traditional platforms sometimes introduce. Many seniors are less concerned about looks and more about finding someone with whom they can share their experiences, which is exactly what GoChatty enables. The platform encourages genuine conversations, and while it still incorporates the social element of dating, it doesn’t lean into the “fast-paced” nature that many other apps do.

On GoChatty, there’s no rush, no urgency to impress or get a response right away. It’s a place where you can engage with others at your own pace, take time to truly get to know someone, and enjoy conversations that might lead to something more. Whether you’re looking for companionship, a deep friendship, or even romance, GoChatty encourages those authentic connections that have often been hard to find on other platforms. And it’s not just about dating—it’s about creating a community for seniors, which makes it stand out in a crowded online dating space.

Is GoChatty the Right Choice for Seniors?

After spending some time on GoChatty, it’s become clear that the platform is a unique and thoughtful option for older adults looking to connect. However, no platform is without its shortcomings, and as with anything, it’s important to consider both the pros and the cons before diving in. From my perspective, GoChatty gets a lot right, but there are a few areas where it could still improve.

Let’s start with what works. First and foremost, GoChatty’s user experience is a major selling point. As someone who has spent years running businesses and managing teams, I can appreciate a platform that’s easy to navigate and clearly thought out. The design is clean, and it’s intuitive enough that you don’t need a technical background to figure out how to use it. For seniors who might not be familiar with technology, this simplicity is crucial. Too many dating sites cater to younger users who are tech-savvy, making it difficult for older people to feel comfortable. But GoChatty has made it accessible, which is a big deal.

What really sets GoChatty apart, though, is its focus on communication. Unlike many other dating platforms that rely on looks or quick exchanges, GoChatty emphasizes taking the time to get to know others. It’s all about engaging in meaningful conversations that build connection over time. This makes it perfect for those of us who might be looking for something deeper than just a casual fling or short-term interaction. As someone in my late 40s, I know how hard it can be to form genuine connections, especially when life’s complexities—like career, family, and previous relationships—are taken into account. GoChatty gives people the space to be themselves and share their experiences, creating an environment that’s conducive to lasting friendships and relationships.

That being said, there are a few things GoChatty could improve. The user base is still growing, and while it’s encouraging to see many mature users, there are still fewer members compared to larger, more established platforms. Additionally, some users report having difficulty in finding matches in certain geographic areas, as the platform’s reach isn’t as expansive as other services. It would also be helpful if GoChatty offered more robust search filters, enabling users to pinpoint exactly what they’re looking for in a match.

But these minor setbacks don’t overshadow the platform’s overall strengths. GoChatty offers a unique, tailored experience for seniors who are seeking something real. It encourages meaningful connections and fosters a community of like-minded individuals. As someone who values authenticity, I can say that GoChatty is a platform worth considering for anyone in their golden years looking for love, companionship, or even just a friendly chat.

In the end, it’s all about knowing what you’re looking for. GoChatty isn’t for everyone—it’s not flashy or fast-paced. But for those of us who appreciate the value of deeper connections, it’s a refreshing alternative in the crowded world of online dating.

ED Invented Kasukuwere, Grace Tribal-Spacecraft To Planet Kenya

Power Dynamics and the Fall of Mugabe: A Tale of Factional Wars and Betrayal

By Kerina Mujati | There can be no power equilibrium when one faction or tribe dictates national affairs and monopolizes the state. How does that system hold? This imbalance was starkly evident during Robert Mugabe’s rule, where Emmerson Mnangagwa (ED) exerted considerable influence. Through Grace Mugabe, ED strategically positioned his allies, ensuring they were appointed as deputy ministers, secretaries, or held key positions in various ministries. This was Mugabe’s greatest political misstep—unknowingly enabling the creation of a power structure that would later swallow him whole. The culmination of these dynamics led to his humiliating exit in 2017.

Grace Mugabe and Saviour Kasukuwere were products of ED’s political maneuvering, representing what was seen as the Zezuru faction. By 2014, this faction had alienated some of the most influential veterans of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, including Didymus Mutasa, Rugare Gumbo, Dzikamai Mavhaire, Munacho Mutezo, Nicholas Goche, and Ray Kaukonde. The Zezuru faction’s downfall began as Grace and Kasukuwere, intoxicated by their perceived power, overestimated their influence. Kasukuwere’s infamous tribalistic anthem, “Zezuru Unconquerable,” only worsened matters. It provided ED and his faction with the ammunition to label the Zezurus as divisive, further justifying their agenda to dismantle the faction.

Tribal spacecraft: AI

The factional wars intensified with the rise of the G40 faction, following the dismissal of the Mujuru faction. Grace Mugabe and Kasukuwere were left vulnerable in their attempts to challenge ED. Yet, questions linger about how General Constantino Chiwenga, known as “Mkanya,” became involved. After witnessing the political demise of his comrades, why did Chiwenga align himself with ED and participate in the downfall of his own people? In 2017, during the political upheaval, there were shocking incidents such as the beating of Solomon Mujuru’s widow by Lacoste-aligned youths, amid claims that Mugabe wanted to appoint Sydney Sekeramayi as his successor.

The November 2017 coup, led by Chiwenga, was ultimately a Karanga-led initiative, symbolizing a shift away from Zezuru dominance. The coup saw many Zezurus purged, some killed, and others fleeing into exile—figures like Peter Munetsi and Augustine Chihuri. Despite Chiwenga’s involvement, it raises the question: did he not learn from the Mujuru faction’s downfall?

After taking power, ED continued targeting high-ranking Zezurus within Zimbabwe’s security forces. Over 37 army generals were removed under suspicious circumstances, some reportedly succumbing to COVID-19, accidents, or sudden illnesses. Others, like Perence Shiri and Douglas Nyikayaramba, were denied National Hero status. Under ED, the National Heroes Acre now appears reserved for his loyalists and former UANC members.

Chiwenga himself faced his share of betrayal. Poisoned—allegedly with Chinese confirmation—he endured health challenges that led to his public fallout with Mary Mubaiwa. Yet, Chiwenga’s resilience shocked ED, as evidenced by the president’s disbelief upon Chiwenga’s unannounced return to Zimbabwe. Despite knowing ED harbors ambitions to eliminate him, Chiwenga perplexes many by repeatedly rescuing the “crocodile” during moments of political weakness. Why does he do this? Elders might say, “Chinoda kufa chinovhiringira” (that which seeks its end often hastens it).

Chiwenga’s public statements further confound observers. He speaks of being “blood brothers” with ED, yet the sentiment is not reciprocated. Instead, ED belittles Chiwenga, making disparaging comments such as, “We know Chiwenga was flirting with Mimi at work” or “Chiwenga was stealing wine meant for Fathers.” These “jokes” undermine Chiwenga’s credibility and reinforce his vulnerability.

Meanwhile, ED strategically appoints discredited individuals like Godwills Masimirembwa—lawyer, looter, and land baron—to consolidate his grip on power. Masimirembwa, forgetting his Mukorekore roots, now champions the #ED2030 agenda, revealing the extent to which Zezurus have been divided and manipulated.

This serves as a stark warning: when a minority faction rises by exploiting divisions within the majority, the result is the systematic destruction of the very people who enabled its ascent. The question remains: how long can Chiwenga and others continue supporting a regime that works tirelessly to eliminate them?

Signs Your Vehicle Needs Wheel Alignment…

Introduction:

Your vehicle’s wheels may seem like simple parts, but they play a critical role in your overall driving experience and safety. One key aspect of maintaining proper wheel function is ensuring that your vehicle is properly aligned. Wheel alignment affects how your car handles, how even the tyres wear, and ultimately, how safe your vehicle is on the road. In this article, we’ll explore the importance of wheel alignment, how it contributes to road safety, and how often you should check your alignment to stay safe.

What is Wheel Alignment?

Wheel alignment refers to the adjustment of a vehicle’s suspension system, ensuring that all four wheels are set to the correct angles as specified by the manufacturer. Proper alignment means that your wheels are perpendicular to the ground and parallel to each other, which optimizes vehicle performance.

There are three key angles involved in wheel alignment:

  1. Camber – The angle of the wheel in relation to the road. A positive camber means the top of the wheel is tilted outward, while a negative camber means it tilts inward. Both misalignments can lead to uneven tyre wear and compromised handling.
  2. Toe – The angle at which the tyres point inward or outward when viewed from above. If the front of the tyres points inward (toe-in) or outward (toe-out), it can cause rapid tyre wear and affect handling.
  3. Caster – The angle of the steering axis, which affects the stability and steering of the vehicle. Proper caster alignment ensures that the vehicle maintains straight-line stability and a self-centering steering wheel.

The Importance of Proper Wheel Alignment

Proper wheel alignment is crucial for several reasons:

  1. Improved Safety: Misaligned wheels can negatively impact how your car handles. For instance, improper alignment can cause the car to pull to one side, making it harder to keep the vehicle straight on the road, especially at higher speeds or in adverse weather conditions.
  2. Even Tyre Wear: Misalignment can lead to uneven tyre wear, which means you may have to replace your tyres sooner than expected. Unevenly worn tyres can compromise traction, especially in wet or icy conditions, increasing the risk of accidents.
  3. Better Fuel Efficiency: Misaligned wheels cause increased friction and rolling resistance, which can decrease your vehicle’s fuel efficiency. Proper alignment ensures that the vehicle runs more smoothly and consumes less fuel.
  4. Extended Vehicle Lifespan: Regular alignment checks and corrections help reduce strain on other components of your car’s suspension system, steering, and tyres, potentially saving you from costly repairs down the road.
  5. Enhanced Driving Comfort: Proper alignment ensures that the vehicle handles smoothly, without vibrations or pulling, making your drive more comfortable and reducing driver fatigue.

Signs Your Vehicle May Need a Wheel Alignment

If you experience any of the following signs, it may be time to have your wheel alignment checked:

Pulling to One Side: If your vehicle pulls to the left or right even when you are driving on a straight, level road, this is a clear indication that the alignment may be off.

Steering Wheel Vibration: If you feel vibrations in the steering wheel, it could be a sign that your wheels are not properly aligned.

Uneven Tyre Wear: Check for signs of uneven tyre wear, such as bald spots or the tread wearing more on one side. Misalignment can cause this type of wear.

Crooked Steering Wheel: If your steering wheel is crooked or off-center when you’re driving straight, this is a sign of misalignment.

Steering Issues: Difficulty steering or pulling in one direction when turning can be an indication that your wheel alignment needs attention.

How Often Should You Get a Wheel Alignment Check?

The frequency of wheel alignment checks depends on a variety of factors, including the type of driving you do, road conditions, and your vehicle’s make and model. However, here are some general guidelines:

  1. Every 1-2 Years: Most car manufacturers recommend a wheel alignment check at least once every one to two years, even if you don’t notice any obvious issues. Regular checks help maintain the safety and longevity of your vehicle.
  2. After Certain Events: If you hit a large pothole, curb, or are involved in a minor accident, it’s a good idea to get an alignment check. Even a minor impact can throw your wheels out of alignment.
  3. When Tyre Wear is Uneven: If you notice unusual or uneven wear on your tyres, this could be a sign that your vehicle’s alignment is off, and it should be checked sooner rather than later.
  4. After Suspension or Steering Repairs: If any components of your suspension or steering system are replaced or repaired, a wheel alignment should be done as part of the maintenance process.

Road Safety Tips: Ensuring Your Alignment is in Check

  1. Stay Proactive: Don’t wait until your car shows clear signs of misalignment. Regularly have your alignment checked as part of routine vehicle maintenance.
  2. Pay Attention to Your Tyres: Keep an eye on tyre wear. Uneven or excessive tyre wear could indicate that your alignment is out of spec.
  3. Drive Carefully: Avoid hitting potholes, curbs, or other obstacles that could misalign your wheels. Smooth driving helps preserve both your vehicle’s alignment and the condition of your tyres.
  4. Regular Maintenance: Ensure that you follow a regular maintenance schedule for your vehicle, including tyre rotation, balancing, and alignment checks, to maximize both safety and vehicle longevity.

Wheel alignment may seem like a small detail, but it has a huge impact on your safety, comfort, and the longevity of your vehicle.

By staying on top of alignment checks, paying attention to signs of misalignment, and taking proactive steps to maintain your car, you can enjoy a safer, smoother ride and help protect your tyres, suspension system, and overall vehicle performance.

SADC Meets Over Mozambique Election Crisis

Harare – The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is holding an extraordinary summit this weekend to address escalating post-election violence in Mozambique amid widespread allegations of vote rigging and political interference by the ruling FRELIMO party.

The high-level summit, hosted in Harare, will focus on resolving Mozambique’s political and security crisis alongside other regional challenges, such as the SADC Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (SAMIDRC), whose mandate expires soon.

A source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the urgency of the discussions:

“The region is worried and disturbed by what is happening in Mozambique. Heads of state will deliberate on concrete solutions to resolve the escalating violence and political stalemate.”

The contested elections saw FRELIMO candidate Daniel Chapo claim a landslide victory with 71% of the vote, while opposition leader Venancio Mondlane garnered 21%.

Mondlane has rejected the results, denouncing them as fraudulent and calling for nationwide protests to demand fresh polls.

Protests have turned violent, claiming at least 30 lives.

Last Thursday, police in Maputo used tear gas to disperse demonstrators calling for election transparency.

The unrest has raised concerns about regional stability, prompting SADC to prioritize the crisis in its deliberations.

The summit, taking place at the new Parliament building in Mt Hampden, follows the 44th SADC Summit in August.

It will begin with technical committee meetings culminating in the SADC Organ Troika Summit, chaired by Tanzania, and the Heads of State and Government Summit on Wednesday.

Zimbabwe, as host, will also chair the SADC Council of Ministers meeting, with preparations reportedly at an advanced stage.

Mondlane’s call for sustained protests pressures SADC leaders to resolve Mozambique’s crisis as the region’s credibility in upholding democratic norms comes under scrutiny.

Did Zodwa, VP Chiwenga’s Wife’s Jungle-Dress Help Sakhile At Miss Universe?

VP Chiwenga wife with entourage at Miss Universe contest in Mexico

The Complex Chaos of Sakhile Dube’s Miss Universe Dress: A Critical Analysis

By Farai D Hove | Sakhile Dube’s appearance at Miss Universe has sparked intense conversations, particularly regarding her dress design. The gown, while somewhat beautiful, presented a plethora of distractions that hindered rather than helped Zimbabwe’s representation on the global stage. This article examines the design choices and their impact, focusing on the overload of symbols, clashing elements, and lack of cohesion that ultimately worked against the contestant.

Design Overload: A War of Elements

The dress attempted to incorporate several striking elements, including representations of Zimbabwe’s flag colors, a castle, an eagle, and bricks. While the intention may have been to craft a rich, symbolic narrative of national pride, the execution resulted in a chaotic visual experience. The competing symbols—each demanding attention—created a cognitive overload for the audience. Rather than celebrating Zimbabwe’s cultural and national identity in a cohesive manner, the design fragmented the narrative into unconnected elements, leaving viewers overwhelmed and distracted.

Flag Colors in Overdrive

The use of Zimbabwe’s flag colors, though patriotic, was overemphasized to the point of being jarring. The vibrant hues clashed with one another, fighting for dominance rather than blending harmoniously. On stage, the effect was noisy and overstimulating, detracting from Sakhile’s presence and elegance. Instead of enhancing her appeal, the overuse of these colors undermined the visual coherence of her outfit.

Symbolic Overkill

A castle, an eagle, bricks, and lion spirit symbols were all loaded into one design—each significant in its own right but collectively overwhelming. The eagle, represented with a full head sculpture, dominated the design, overshadowing the other elements. Similarly, the inclusion of bricks and building structures seemed out of place on a gown intended to highlight beauty and grace. These elements, while intended to add depth, instead felt heavy-handed and lacked thematic unity.

The obsession with lion spirit symbols and other motifs, while perhaps rooted in cultural significance, failed to translate effectively into a fashion statement. Instead of elevating the dress, these elements weighed it down, making it appear more like a costume than a couture piece.

The Psychological Impact

The human mind thrives on simplicity and balance, particularly when it comes to aesthetics. The cacophony of symbols, colors, and textures on Sakhile’s dress created an unsettling visual experience. The lack of a clear focal point made it difficult for viewers to connect with the design. At Miss Universe, where first impressions are critical, this sensory overload likely detracted from Sakhile’s chances of making a lasting positive impact.

Missed Opportunities

The design choices made by Sakhile’s team, including Mini Baloyi, highlight a missed opportunity to showcase Zimbabwe’s heritage with elegance and subtlety. A more minimalist approach—one that focused on a few well-integrated symbols—could have been more effective. For instance, incorporating a refined interpretation of the Zimbabwe bird or a more understated use of flag colors could have conveyed national pride without overwhelming the senses.

Conclusion

While the intention behind Sakhile Dube’s Miss Universe dress was commendable, the execution fell short. The overabundance of symbols, clashing colors, and lack of thematic unity ultimately worked against her, making the dress a point of contention rather than celebration. Moving forward, designers representing Zimbabwe—or any country—on the global stage should prioritize simplicity, harmony, and a clear narrative. By doing so, they can ensure that their designs enhance, rather than detract from, the beauty and presence of their contestants.

Does Mnangagwa Really Care About Children’s Future, or Is It Just Political Window Dressing?

Tshabangu ‘Fired’

By Political Reporter-Fresh, tensions have erupted within the already fractured Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) as acting president Welshman Ncube clashed with Sengezo Tshabangu over leadership claims, intensifying the party’s internal crisis.

Zanu PF Hardliners Lose Sleep Over Instability in Mozambique

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Defence, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, has expressed growing concern over the worsening security situation in neighboring Mozambique, warning that the crisis poses a direct threat to both Zimbabwe’s national interests and regional security.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for Junior Staff Course Number 81 at the Zimbabwe Staff College in Harare on Friday, November 15, Muchinguri-Kashiri highlighted the instability in Mozambique as a significant challenge, particularly following the recent general elections in the country.

She noted that the turmoil has the potential to undermine Zimbabwe’s economic development and broader regional stability.

“We continue to monitor with great concern the security threats prevailing in the region, particularly in Mozambique and the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). We are following these security developments with a keen eye,” Muchinguri-Kashiri said during her address.

The Minister emphasized that Mozambique’s security situation is critical for Zimbabwe, given the country’s dependence on its neighbor as a vital gateway to the sea.

She explained, “Mozambique is a crucial gateway for Zimbabwe to access the sea. Therefore, the security of the region is a vital concern for our country’s economic and strategic interests.”

Muchinguri-Kashiri’s remarks come at a time when the political situation in Mozambique is increasingly unstable. Allegations of widespread electoral fraud in the country’s October 9 general elections have sparked a wave of protests against the ruling FRELIMO party, which has been in power since Mozambique’s independence.

The protests have added to the growing unrest in a country already grappling with insurgent violence and economic challenges.

The escalating crisis in Mozambique, combined with the political and security instability in the region, has put Zimbabwe on edge, as the two countries share significant trade and transport routes. Muchinguri-Kashiri’s comments reflect the growing anxiety within the Zimbabwean government over the potential spillover effects from Mozambique’s unrest.

“We must remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring that the security challenges in our neighboring countries do not adversely affect Zimbabwe’s peace and prosperity,” Muchinguri-Kashiri concluded, signaling that Zimbabwe’s leadership is closely monitoring the situation and is prepared to take necessary steps to protect the country’s interests.

As Mozambique grapples with post-election instability and the ongoing threat of insurgent groups in the northern regions, Zimbabwe’s concerns over its neighbor’s security and political trajectory are likely to intensify.

The situation highlights the broader regional instability and underscores the importance of coordinated efforts to address security challenges in southern Africa.

Chamisa Sounds War Cry Against Zanu PF Regime

Citizens Slam Naming of Clinic After Auxillia Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent

In a move that has sparked controversy, Vice President Colonel (Rtd) Kembo Mohadi recently commissioned the Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa Clinic in Chirape, Gokwe, which was named in honor of Zimbabwe’s First Lady. While government officials have hailed the clinic as a testament to the First Lady’s philanthropic work, many citizens have voiced their disapproval of the clinic’s naming, questioning the appropriateness of honoring a political figure with a public health facility.

The modern clinic, built with state-of-the-art facilities, was constructed to enhance access to quality healthcare in rural Zimbabwe. According to Mohadi, the clinic is a symbol of the government’s commitment to improving health services across the country, particularly in remote areas. “The Second Republic continues to guarantee access to quality health services for the citizenry,” Mohadi stated during the opening ceremony, reinforcing the government’s narrative of working to expand healthcare infrastructure.

However, the naming of the clinic after Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa has not been well-received by all. Many Zimbabweans feel uncomfortable with the practice of naming public institutions after political figures, especially when such decisions appear to serve personal or familial interests. Critics argue that naming a clinic after the First Lady could be seen as an attempt to consolidate power and project a dynastic image for the ruling elite.

One Gokwe resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed concerns about the implications of such a move. “While we appreciate the clinic and the services it will provide, it is troubling to see public resources being used to honor one person, especially when the country faces so many challenges,” they said. “Shouldn’t we be focusing on building a healthcare system that serves all Zimbabweans, not just a few elites?”

Others have raised questions about the ethics of naming government-funded infrastructure after a sitting political figure. “It seems inappropriate to name a clinic after the First Lady. Public services should be about serving the people, not about creating monuments to individuals who are already in power,” said another local resident.

In response to the criticism, government spokespersons have defended the decision, emphasizing that the clinic is a recognition of Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa’s extensive charity work, particularly in healthcare. The First Lady has been involved in numerous philanthropic initiatives, from providing medical assistance to vulnerable communities to spearheading efforts in child and maternal health.

Despite these justifications, the naming controversy highlights a growing tension between the ruling elite and ordinary citizens, who often feel disconnected from the political decisions that affect their daily lives. As the debate continues, questions about the transparency of public projects and the prioritization of citizens’ needs remain at the forefront of the national discourse.

For many Zimbabweans, the Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa Clinic is a reminder of the broader concerns surrounding governance, the allocation of resources, and the role of political figures in shaping public life. While the clinic may bring much-needed healthcare services to the area, the manner in which it has been named underscores the challenges Zimbabwe faces in balancing political recognition with genuine public service.

Supervisor’s Boyfriend Steals Minister’s $600,000 Title Deeds

By A Correspondent | In a precedent-setting case, Zimbabwe’s first Minister of Education, Dzingai Mutumbuka, has won a legal battle to reclaim his US$600,000 residence in Chisipite, Harare, after title deeds were stolen, forged, and sold fraudulently. The High Court, presided over by Justice Nyaradzo Priscilla Munangati-Manongwa, ruled decisively in favor of Mutumbuka, restoring justice in a case riddled with fraud and corruption.

The Fraudulent Scheme

The property, located at 90 Harare Drive, Colney Valley, Chisipite, was unlawfully sold using forged documents after Lynna Mlambo, a supervisor at the Deeds Office, accessed the title deeds and handed them over to her boyfriend, Tatenda ‘Shaft’ Wakatama. Wakatama forged his details on the document and returned it to the Deeds Office through an accomplice.

Using the fraudulent deed, the property was sold to Demetria Zirenga and Harrison Marange for only US$92,000, a fraction of its value. Despite paying just US$45,000, they occupied the property, evicting Mutumbuka through a court order issued on September 18, 2023, by Justice Webster Nicholas Chinamora, who has since resigned amidst allegations of misconduct.

Court Ruling

Justice Munangati-Manongwa declared the forged deed, attributed to Jonah Ngome, as “fraudulent, invalid, and of no force and effect.” She ordered:

Zirenga and Marange to vacate the property within 15 days or face eviction by the Sheriff.

The Deeds Office to expunge any record indicating that Ngome owned the property.

Zirenga and Marange to cover Mutumbuka’s legal costs.

The Judge also criticized Zirenga and Marange’s lawyers, Hope Ndanaka Tirivavi and Advocate Method Ndlovu, for pursuing a baseless case, resulting in dismissal with costs.

Legal Precedents in Zimbabwe

The ruling draws from several landmark cases in Zimbabwean law that address property ownership and fraudulent deeds:

1. Mudzimu v Ngulube (2021) – The court nullified a fraudulent sale of land after establishing that the seller had no legal authority to transfer the property.

2. Murambiwa v Estate Late Murambiwa (2019) – The court emphasized that title deeds are prima facie evidence of ownership and cannot be altered through fraudulent means.

3. Makoni v Mpofu (2020) – This case reinforced the principle that forged deeds have no legal standing, and the rightful owner retains all rights to the property.

4. ZFC Limited v Taylor (2001) – Highlighted the duty of due diligence in property transactions and the liability of parties involved in fraudulent schemes.

5. Matanhire v BP & Shell Marketing Services (1999) – Established the importance of good faith in property dealings and the responsibility of buyers to verify title validity.

6. Mutyanda v Nyathi (2016) – Addressed the role of the Registrar of Deeds in maintaining accurate and reliable property records, condemning negligence that enables fraud.

International Precedents

Similar cases around the world underscore the importance of safeguarding property rights and dealing with fraudulent transfers:

1. United Kingdom: Prest v Petrodel Resources Ltd (2013) – The UK Supreme Court underscored the need for transparency in property ownership and invalidated fraudulent transfers.

2. South Africa: Akbar v Patel (1974) – South African courts nullified a property transfer based on forged signatures, ruling in favor of the rightful owner.

3. India: Suraj Lamp & Industries Pvt. Ltd. v State of Haryana (2012) – The Supreme Court of India ruled that ownership cannot be transferred through fraudulent or fabricated documentation.

4. United States: Bryant v Bryant (2005) – A court in North Carolina invalidated fraudulent deeds and held parties accountable for engaging in deceitful practices.

5. Canada: Sharma v Smith (2014) – Reinforced the principle that forged documents cannot transfer legal ownership, regardless of subsequent transactions.

6. Australia: Black v Garnock (2007) – The High Court nullified a property sale based on fraudulent claims, emphasizing the priority of the true owner’s rights.

Impact of the Judgment

Justice Munangati-Manongwa’s ruling sets a robust precedent in Zimbabwe, upholding the integrity of property ownership laws. The judgment restores Mutumbuka’s ownership rights and directs the Deeds Office to maintain accuracy in its records, ensuring that fraudulent deeds are expunged.

The decision also highlights systemic corruption within the property and legal systems, calling for greater accountability. By addressing the role of lawyers, registrars, and accomplices in the fraud, the ruling serves as a warning against similar schemes in the future.

What’s Next?

With the forged title deed dismissed and the rightful owner reinstated, attention now turns to prosecuting those involved in the fraud. This case underscores the need for reforms in the Deeds Office to prevent further breaches and protect property owners across Zimbabwe.

Voting’s Ended Now, So Where Are The Results? | MISS UNIVERSE

Why Are the Miss Universe Results Still Pending After Voting Has Closed?

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | The Miss Universe 2024 competition has taken an unexpected turn as voting officially ended hours ago, yet the much-anticipated results are still nowhere to be seen. Fans around the globe, eager to see if their favorite contestants made it to the finals, are left questioning the delay in printing and announcing the results.

Possible Reasons for the Delay:

1. Technical Issues or System Overload

With millions of votes cast globally through the Miss Universe app, there could be delays due to server overload or technical glitches. However, fans are demanding transparency if this is the case.

2. Auditing and Verification of Votes

To maintain credibility, event organizers might be double-checking votes for fraudulent activity, such as bot-generated votes or duplicate entries. This process, while necessary, might be causing delays.

3. Suspicion of Rigging

Social media is rife with speculation, with some fans accusing the organizers of vote manipulation. A poll conducted by ZimEye shows that 25% of respondents believe the results might be rigged, while 75% still have faith in the integrity of the process.

4. Focus Shift to the National Costume Competition

Interestingly, as the voting results remain pending, attention has shifted to the National Costume competition, with voting now open for the fan-favorite costume. Some fans argue that this abrupt transition might be a tactic to divert attention from the main vote delay.

5. Deliberate Media Strategy

Some speculate the delay could be a publicity stunt to generate more buzz and keep the audience engaged ahead of the grand finale. If true, this move risks alienating loyal fans already expressing frustration.

6. Controversies Behind the Scenes

Could there be disagreements among organizers or stakeholders regarding the results? This possibility cannot be ruled out, especially with the stakes so high in a global competition of this scale.

Growing Frustration Among Fans

Fans, particularly supporters of Zimbabwe’s representative, Sakhile Dube, have taken to social media to demand answers. Many are questioning why results have not been made public if voting officially ended. With transparency being key to maintaining the competition’s integrity, the prolonged silence is fueling rumors and mistrust.

The Clock Is Ticking

With the Miss Universe finals drawing near, fans are eagerly awaiting clarification from the organizers. Whether the delay is due to technical challenges, vote verification, or other reasons, clear communication is now imperative to restore faith in the process.

By A Correspondent

In a shocking incident, Munetsi Munemo, a 41-year-old man from Murape Village in Dema, was convicted of physically abusing his 70-year-old mother, Shupikai Munemo. The altercation occurred when Munetsi’s mother refused to give his son money for Civvies Day at school.

On Friday, at around 7 am, Munetsi sent his child to ask his mother for money, but she replied that she had none. Enraged, Munetsi woke his mother up, pointed at her, and punched her in the mouth.

During the trial, Munetsi justified his actions, stating that he didn’t have money to give his child and wanted his mother to provide it instead.

The court initially sentenced Munetsi to eight months in prison, with four months suspended on the condition that he wouldn’t commit a similar crime within the next five years.

The remaining four months were converted to 280 hours of community service.

This sentence aims to hold Munetsi accountable for his actions while also providing an opportunity for rehabilitation.

SADC Holds Meeting Over Crisis In Mozambique

By A Correspondent

As President Emmerson Mnangagwa prepares to chair the Extraordinary SADC Heads of State and Government Summit next week, the focus will be on critical regional challenges, including the future of the SADC Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (SAMIDRC), recent elections in Mozambique and Botswana, and the upcoming polls in Namibia.

However, despite these pressing issues, the summit’s potential to address ongoing regional setbacks, particularly in Mozambique, remains in doubt, given the Southern African Development Community’s (SADC) track record of inaction in the face of escalating crises.

The SAMIDRC mission, which has been tasked with supporting the DRC government in stabilizing the volatile eastern region, will be a central topic. As its mandate nears expiration at the end of December, SADC leaders will likely review the mission’s progress and consider renewing its mandate.

The situation in the DRC, however, continues to deteriorate, with militia violence and instability persisting in the region.

This ongoing failure to curb conflict raises serious questions about SADC’s effectiveness under Mnangagwa’s leadership, especially given the organization’s past shortcomings in addressing similar crises.

At the same time, recent elections in Mozambique have drawn significant attention.

Held on October 9, these polls were marred by allegations of electoral irregularities, and concerns about the ruling party’s control over the process persist. SADC’s response to these concerns, particularly in Mozambique, has been underwhelming.

The regional body has repeatedly failed to take meaningful action when member states experience political instability or military setbacks, such as in Mozambique’s northern Cabo Delgado province, where insurgency and violence continue to plague the country.

Despite SADC’s purported mission of promoting peace and stability in the region, it has been slow to intervene in these critical situations, often opting for dialogue over direct action.

This lack of urgency raises doubts about the body’s commitment to resolving regional crises.

SADC’s history of sluggish responses to electoral disputes and security challenges in member states casts a long shadow over any potential breakthroughs at the upcoming summit.

Will Mnangagwa’s leadership prompt a renewed commitment to regional stability, or will SADC once again fail to address the root causes of conflict in Mozambique and beyond?

As regional leaders gather on November 16 for the summit’s start, the agenda will include the usual bureaucratic procedures: meetings of senior officials, ministerial committees, and technical sessions. But these gatherings will likely do little to alter the status quo.

The real test will be whether SADC is prepared to take decisive action, not just issue statements of concern, when it comes to the escalating crises in Mozambique and the broader region.

With challenges mounting in Mozambique and other neighboring countries, the summit presents an opportunity for SADC to demonstrate genuine leadership.

However, given its track record under Mnangagwa’s tenure, many are left questioning whether this regional bloc will ever rise to the occasion in meaningful ways.

Mnangagwa Names Clinic After Own Wife

Crowhill Road Closure Complaints No Merit: The Road Doesn’t Exist

By A Correspondent| The ongoing dispute between Crowhill residents in Clever Hills and Mt Breezes Estate has revealed that the contested road in question is illegal, as it does not appear in any official Surveyor General or local authority plans.

Investigations confirm that Clever Hills residents created an unauthorized path cutting through private property on Mt Breezes to access a tarred road. The road is not part of any approved subdivision layout.

Wilson Mhuri, spokesperson for the Mt Breezes Residents Association, highlighted that Crowhill’s 2013 subdivision plan includes a designated road leading to a public roundabout, making the illegal path unnecessary. He added, “We gave Clever Hills residents four years to build their own road, but they have failed.”

A 2020 High Court ruling (HC 4174/2020) upheld Mt Breezes’ rights, confirming no legal public road exists between the properties. Despite the ruling, Clever Hills residents have continued using the unauthorized route, prompting Mt Breezes to install surveillance cameras and pursue legal action.

Goromonzi North legislator Ozias Bvute emphasized the need to respect court orders and accused a local land baron of fueling the conflict by selling illegal plots. He urged residents to prioritize lawful infrastructure development.

“It’s unfortunate that there are elements that have chosen to misaligne by infactually saying things that are not true. At the instant, Mt Breezes is a private development that obtained a court order which enables it to enclose their community and adjoining roads within their development.

“It would be irresponsible to encourage the residents that I represent in the greater Goromonzi to disregard court orders. Court orders must be respected and negotiations should be held with Mt Breezes that allow for an amicable resolution to the current impasse. But the premise is that court orders should be respected. Essentially, that’s what constitutes the upholding of the rule of law, which is what normal people are encouraged to do,” he said

He added, “the residents are being fronted by a prominent land baron who has illegally sold pieces of land that dont belong to them and by virtue of being put under pressure by the people she sold to is now trying to create confusion from issues around their settlement which is illegal.”

Mt Breezes maintains that it cannot accommodate illegal activities on its private property and encourages Clever Hills residents to construct a legal road as per their approved plans.

Warriors Secure 2025 Afcon Spot Despite Draw Against Kenya

Sports Correspondent

Zimbabwe’s national football team has qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) after a 1-1 draw with Kenya in their Group J match on Friday. With this result, the Warriors finished second in the group with nine points, ensuring their place at next year’s tournament.

Tawanda Maswanhise gave Zimbabwe the lead in the 32nd minute, scoring on his full debut for the national team.

However, Kenya equalized early in the second half, with Jonah Ayunga finding the back of the net in the 50th minute.

The draw dashed Kenya’s hopes of qualification, as they will now finish third in Group J, unable to advance to the finals.

Zimbabwe’s final qualifier will be against already-qualified Cameroon on Tuesday, with kick-off scheduled for 3 pm CAT.

The match was fast-paced, and despite failing to break the Kenyan jinx, Zimbabwe achieved their primary goal of securing a spot in Morocco for the 2025 Afcon.

Mnangagwa Top Ally Fired As Chiwenga Crushes ED2030 Dream

By Political Reporter-Zanu PF Harare Provincial Chairperson Godwills Masimirembwa has been suspended in what seems to be a power shift towards Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Masimirembwa’s suspension was confirmed by provincial political commissar Kudakwashe Damson in a statement dated November 14.

This follows Zanu PF’s recent expulsion of 16 members accused of backing independent candidates in the last election, a move widely seen as targeting Mnangagwa loyalists.

Masimirembwa’s offices on Herbert Chitepo Street were also petrol-bombed ahead of last month’s party conference in Bulawayo, allegedly by Chiwenga-aligned operatives.

The attack also killed Masimirembwa’s security guard.

About Wheel Alignment…

Top Zanu PF Official Suspended Over 2030 Mnangagwa Anenge Achipo Slogan

How Long Does Creatine Take to Work? What to Expect and When

Creatine is one of the most popular supplements for athletes, gym enthusiasts, and anyone looking to enhance their physical performance. If you’re considering adding creatine to your routine, you might wonder, how long does creatine take to work? This article will break it down, so you know what to expect and when to see results.

What Is Creatine and How Does It Work?

Understanding Creatine

Creatine is a naturally occurring compound stored in your muscles. It plays a critical role in producing energy during high-intensity activities like weightlifting, sprinting, or jumping.

When you take a creatine supplement, you increase the amount stored in your muscles, allowing you to perform better during short bursts of intense activity.

Factors That Affect How Quickly Creatine Works

Loading Phase vs. Regular Dosing

There are two common ways to take creatine:

  • Loading phase: This involves taking 20 grams of creatine per day (split into 4 doses) for 5–7 days. After this, you switch to a maintenance dose of 3–5 grams daily.
  • Regular dosing: This method skips the loading phase, and you simply take 3–5 grams daily from the start.

The loading phase allows creatine to saturate your muscles more quickly, which can lead to noticeable effects within a week. Regular dosing takes longer—about 3–4 weeks—to achieve the same saturation levels.

Your Muscle Creatine Stores

If your muscles already have high natural creatine levels (common in meat-eaters), the effects may take longer to show compared to someone with lower levels.

Your Fitness Goals

Creatine works differently depending on what you’re aiming to achieve:

  • Strength and power: Improvements in these areas can be noticed within a week if you’re doing a loading phase.
  • Muscle growth: Building noticeable muscle mass might take 4–6 weeks of consistent use.

What to Expect During the First Week of Creatine

Day 1–3: Minimal Changes

In the initial days of creatine supplementation, most people don’t feel a significant difference. However, your muscles are beginning to absorb the creatine, especially if you’re using a loading phase and one of the best creatine supplements to maximize effectiveness.

Day 4–7: Increased Energy and Performance

By the end of the first week, you may notice:

  • Better endurance during workouts.
  • The ability to lift slightly heavier weights or do more reps.
  • Faster recovery between sets.

These improvements occur because your muscles now have more readily available energy.

When Will You See Physical Changes?

1–2 Weeks: Performance Boosts

Improved performance often starts within the first two weeks, especially if you’re training consistently. You might notice:

  • Less fatigue during high-intensity exercises.
  • A small increase in strength.

3–4 Weeks: Muscle Growth

By the third or fourth week, you may start seeing changes in your muscle size. Creatine causes your muscles to retain water, making them look fuller and more pumped.

6–8 Weeks: Noticeable Gains

At this stage, most people experience significant improvements in strength, endurance, and muscle mass. The combination of enhanced training and muscle growth leads to visible changes in your physique.

How to Maximize Creatine’s Effectiveness

Take It Consistently

Consistency is key. Whether you choose the loading phase or regular dosing, make sure to take creatine daily to maintain high muscle saturation levels.

Pair It with a Healthy Diet

Creatine works best when combined with a balanced diet rich in protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats. Adequate protein intake is especially important for muscle recovery and growth.

Stay Hydrated

Since creatine draws water into your muscles, it’s essential to drink plenty of water throughout the day to prevent dehydration.

Train Hard

Creatine is most effective when paired with a well-structured workout plan. Focus on progressive overload, where you gradually increase the intensity of your workouts over time.

Common Myths About Creatine

Myth 1: Creatine Works Instantly

While creatine is effective, it’s not a magic pill. It takes time—anywhere from a few days to a few weeks—for your muscles to saturate and deliver noticeable results.

Myth 2: Creatine Causes Weight Gain

The initial weight gain from creatine is due to water retention in your muscles, not fat. Over time, it contributes to muscle mass gain, which is beneficial for strength and performance.

Myth 3: Creatine Is Only for Bodybuilders

Creatine is beneficial for anyone engaging in high-intensity activities, including runners, swimmers, and team sport athletes.

Is Creatine Right for You?

Creatine is safe and effective for most people when used correctly. However, consult a healthcare professional before starting if you:

  • Have kidney issues.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Are taking medications that affect kidney function.

Key Takeaways

  • Loading phase users can expect results within 7 days, while regular dosing may take 3–4 weeks.
  • Benefits include improved strength, endurance, and muscle growth.
  • Consistency, hydration, and proper training maximize creatine’s effectiveness.

Creatine is a proven supplement that works well for enhancing athletic performance and muscle growth. By understanding what to expect and being patient, you’ll get the most out of your creatine journey.

Police Investigate Viral Video of Man Brutally Assaulting Defenseless Woman

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched an investigation into a viral video showing a man violently assaulting a woman over an unpaid debt.

The video, which was shared by ZimEye.com on Friday, sparked widespread outrage across social media.

In a statement, the ZRP confirmed that it is investigating two separate assault incidents that have circulated widely online.

“One of the videos shows a man brutally assaulting a woman, allegedly over money he claims is owed to him. In another video, a man is seen being attacked by four individuals who accuse him of infidelity.

The suspects in the latter video are seen wearing white garments,” the police statement said.

The ZRP has called on the public to provide any information related to the incidents, encouraging people to contact the National Complaints Desk at (0242) 703631, WhatsApp on 0712 800197, or report directly to any nearest police station.

Earliest Pictures Suggest Mnangagwa ‘Snubs’ Duma Boko After Bitter Election Fallout

By Political Reporter-Images from the 2024 Regional World Children’s Day event in Victoria Falls notably do not feature President Emmerson Mnangagwa, raising speculation that he may have deliberately avoided interacting with Botswana’s newly elected President, Duma Boko.

Instead, Mnangagwa appears to have delegated Vice President Constantino Chiwenga to represent Zimbabwe at the event.

Boko, who ended the 58-year rule of Botswana’s Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) in a historic electoral victory, has been at odds with Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu PF.

During Botswana’s election campaign, Zanu PF officials openly backed the BDP, providing strategic support while denouncing Boko’s Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) as an unsuitable alternative for governance.

The fallout between the two leaders became evident last week when Mnangagwa attended Boko’s inauguration in Botswana.

The Zimbabwean leader was reportedly booed by sections of the audience, highlighting lingering animosities stemming from Zanu PF’s overt interference in Botswana’s internal politics.

On Saturday, Boko arrived in Victoria Falls for the regional children’s event and was received by Chiwenga in a move widely interpreted as a deliberate snub by Mnangagwa.

The Botswana leader’s presence was acknowledged by Zimbabwean government spokesperson Nick Mangwana, who posted on social media:

“Leaders have started arriving in Victoria Falls for the 2024 Regional World Children’s Day. HE Advocate Duma Gideon Boko of Botswana arrived early in Victoria Falls this morning.”

Zanu PF’s involvement in Botswana’s elections raised tensions in regional relations. As Botswana prepared for its polls, Zanu PF openly campaigned for the ruling BDP, allegedly offering logistical and advisory support to its candidates.

The interference marked a rare departure from the traditionally non-confrontational dynamics among Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states.

This meddling sparked controversy, with Boko’s UDC accusing Zanu PF of undermining democratic principles in Botswana.

The Zimbabwean ruling party framed Boko as a potential destabilizing force in the region, projecting its support for the BDP as a move to preserve political and economic stability in Southern Africa.

Boko’s victory, however, symbolized a broader regional push for democratic reform and accountability, signaling a challenge to entrenched political systems like Zanu PF’s in Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa’s visible discomfort in recent interactions with Boko underscores the strains introduced by Zanu PF’scontroversial role in Botswana’s elections.

This diplomatic rift adds to Mnangagwa’s growing list of challenges, both domestically and internationally, as Zimbabwe faces increasing scrutiny over governance, electoral integrity, and human rights.

Efforts to get a comment from President Mnangagwa’s office to establish why he did not go to the event were not successful.

Timba, #Avondale78 Detention Extended Once Again

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | In a controversial decision, Senator Jameson Timba and the remaining members of the #Avondale78 have had their pre-trial detention extended by another seven days after the magistrate postponed the ruling to November 22, 2024. This decision has sparked outrage, as the group has already spent 152 days behind bars without trial. Their total time in pre-trial detention will now stretch to 159 days by next week.

The Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC), Zimbabwe’s leading opposition party, condemned the move, describing it as “heartless and shameless persecution.” In a statement, the CCC highlighted how prolonged pre-trial detention is being used as a weapon against political dissent, calling it a blatant miscarriage of justice.

The #Avondale78 includes activists, opposition supporters, and community members arrested earlier this year during protests in Harare’s Avondale suburb. The arrests were widely criticized by human rights organizations, with accusations of politically motivated charges and denial of basic rights.

The CCC also released a strongly worded statement on social media, stating, “Justice delayed is justice denied.” The party maintains that the extended detention is an example of systematic oppression under Zimbabwe’s ruling government.

This development adds to growing concerns over the state of human rights in Zimbabwe. Observers have called for the immediate release of the detainees or the expediting of their trial.

As pressure mounts from local and international human rights groups, the Zimbabwean judiciary faces increased scrutiny over its role in maintaining political neutrality and upholding justice.

Mike Tyson Falls To YouTuber In Sad Spectacle

Maxico – Once feared boxing legend Mike Tyson, 58, suffered a comprehensive defeat against 27-year-old YouTuber Jake Paul in a lackluster bout at the AT&T Stadium on Friday night.

The fight, reduced to eight two-minute rounds, saw Paul secure a unanimous points victory with scores of 79-73 and 80-72.

Despite Tyson’s storied history as a dominant heavyweight champion in the 1980s, his aging body and long-standing health struggles—ranging from chronic sciatica to stomach ulcers—left him a shadow of his former self.

Paul, known more for his social media antics than boxing prowess, faced little resistance from a weary Tyson.

The crowd, initially energized by Tyson’s entrance, grew restless as the fight dragged on.

Boos echoed through the stadium in the later rounds, a stark reminder of the mismatch between the night’s hype and its grim reality.

The saddest moment came not in the ring but in Tyson’s candid interview the night before.

Speaking to 14-year-old social media interviewer Jazlyn Guerra, Tyson dismissed the notion of legacy with stark nihilism:

“Legacy means absolutely nothing to me. I’m gonna die, and it’s gonna be over. Who cares about legacy after that? We’re nothing. We’re dead. We’re dust.”

The once-mighty “Iron Mike” trudged through a fight that felt more like a cynical spectacle than a boxing match, leaving fans disheartened and reflective on the passage of time.

Police Arrest South Africa’s Soccer Chief

Sports Correspondent

Danny Jordaan, the president of the South African Football Association (SAFA) and a key figure in securing South Africa’s 2010 FIFA World Cup, has been arrested on charges of fraud and theft.

Jordaan is accused of misappropriating approximately R1.3 million ($72,372) of SAFA funds to personally benefit from hiring a public relations firm and a private security company.

The arrest follows a raid in March by South Africa’s Special Investigating Unit at SAFA’s offices, where various electronic devices and documents were seized for further investigation. According to police spokesperson Katlego Mogale, the inquiry led to Jordaan’s detention, along with another official and a businessman.

Jordaan, who played a pivotal role in bringing the World Cup to Africa, is scheduled to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Wednesday alongside his co-accused.

Notorious Robbers Caged

By A Correspondent

Three armed robbers have been sentenced to a total of 114 years in prison after being convicted on 10 counts of robbery at the Bindura Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

Ladma Mutesa (39), Tapiwa Nyakudya (31), and Sande Saini (32) were each handed an effective 38-year sentence following their conviction for a series of armed robberies.

Magistrate Felix Chauromwe initially sentenced each of the men to 50 years in prison, but suspended 12 years of their sentences on the condition of good behavior.

According to state documents, the trio carried out a series of robberies in Nyakudya Mazarura Village, located in the Chief Masembura area of Bindura, in April. They reportedly used iron bars to break into homes, stealing electrical appliances, cash, groceries, and other valuables.

In one particularly violent incident on April 21, 2024, the robbers broke into a home where six people were sleeping, assaulting the victims before making off with their possessions. Authorities say the robbers were aided by accomplices who are still at large.

Council Bosses Booed At Funeral

Gweru City Council Suspends Four Employees Over Protests at Funeral of Fallen Workers

Gweru, Zimbabwe – Tensions have erupted at the Gweru City Council following the suspension of four workers accused of booing and insulting management during a funeral for two employees who tragically died on duty. The incident has sparked outrage among workers and the broader community, with allegations of negligence being leveled against council management.

The deceased, Richard Longwe and Mary Svinurai, died last week after inhaling noxious gases while working under a manhole. Their funerals, held over the weekend, turned into scenes of protest as council workers publicly accused management of failing to provide adequate protective equipment that could have prevented the tragedy.

Sources at the funeral reported that council management faced jeers and boos during their speeches, with workers expressing anger and frustration over what they described as systemic neglect. Protesters alleged that the deaths were avoidable and a direct result of inadequate safety measures.

Suspension Sparks Controversy

In response, the council issued suspension letters to four workers, accusing them of misconduct. A letter seen by The Herald alleges that the suspended employees made “malicious and insulting” remarks about management on WhatsApp and during the funeral. It also claims the employees spread false information to incite “violence, ridicule, or despondency” among their colleagues.

The suspension letters, dated November 13, state that the workers will be barred from council premises and denied pay and benefits during the suspension period. Additionally, they are required to surrender any council assets or documents in their possession.

One of the suspended workers, speaking anonymously, called the decision “unfair” and suggested the council acted without conducting a proper investigation. “The council is notorious for suspending workers arbitrarily. This has cost them significant sums in legal payouts when employees successfully challenge the suspensions,” the worker said.

Public Outrage and Calls for Accountability

The suspensions have drawn criticism from local advocacy groups. David Chikore, executive director of the Gweru United Progressive Residents and Ratepayers Development Association Trust, condemned the council’s actions, urging management to show empathy for grieving workers.

“Workers should be allowed to express their emotions, especially in such a painful and shocking incident. Management should focus on addressing the root cause of the grievances rather than silencing workers through suspensions,” Chikore stated.

He added that the incident highlights the urgent need for improved workplace safety and for the council to address employees’ long-standing concerns over poor working conditions.

Broader Implications

The incident has placed a spotlight on Gweru City Council’s safety policies and labor relations. Workers and residents alike are calling for an independent investigation into the deaths of Longwe and Svinurai, as well as the council’s alleged negligence.

This controversy also raises questions about the council’s handling of internal dissent and its approach to managing employee grievances. With growing public scrutiny, the council faces mounting pressure to ensure accountability and prioritize worker safety.

As tensions escalate, stakeholders are urging both the council and its employees to find a resolution that honors the memory of the deceased while addressing the systemic issues brought to light by this tragedy.

Zanu PF Denies Rigging Polls In Mozambique

By A Correspondent

Zanu PF Secretary General, Obert Mpofu, has strongly denied claims that the ruling party is involved in the ongoing political unrest and election manipulation in Mozambique, despite mounting evidence suggesting otherwise.

The allegations of vote-rigging, reportedly linked to Zanu PF, have raised serious concerns about the party’s influence in neighbouring countries, including Mozambique, South Africa, and Botswana.

In a statement issued to the press on Thursday, Mpofu unequivocally rejected any involvement in the chaotic political situation in Mozambique.

“The party respects the sovereignty of other nations and lacks the capacity or intent to interfere in their elections,” Mpofu declared.

He further dismissed the claims as “desperate attempts to tarnish the party’s reputation,” framing them as part of a broader narrative aimed at undermining Zanu PF’s standing both domestically and abroad.

While Zanu PF maintains its innocence, several reports and political analysts point to suspicious patterns of influence across Southern Africa. Specifically, the party has been implicated in attempts to manipulate election outcomes, a move that critics argue is an extension of its broader regional ambitions.

In Mozambique, allegations of vote rigging and electoral interference have been traced back to various political figures with ties to the ruling Zimbabwean party.

Mpofu, however, emphasized Zanu PF’s focus on its own domestic agenda, underscoring the party’s dedication to Zimbabwe’s economic recovery.

“Our priorities lie in advancing Zimbabwe’s economic progress and development. We remain focused on improving the livelihoods of our people and tackling our internal challenges,” he said.

Despite this assertion, the persistence of the allegations in neighbouring countries has led to skepticism regarding Zanu PF’s role in regional politics. Political observers argue that while Mpofu’s denial might be rooted in a desire to deflect attention from potentially damaging revelations, the accusations cannot be dismissed lightly.

ZiG Vanishes

By A Correspondent

Renowned American economic analyst Professor Steve Hanke has stated that the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) is now the second worst currency globally.

Hanke, known for monitoring troubled currencies, highlighted the significant depreciation of the ZiG since its introduction in April 2023.

In a recent update on his Hanke’s Currency Watchlist, Hanke wrote: “On this week’s Hanke’s Currency Watchlist, the Zimbabwean ZiG checks in as the 2ND WORST CURRENCY IN THE WORLD.”

He further explained, “Since its adoption on April 8th, the ZiG has depreciated by approximately 67% against the USD.”

The ZiG, a gold-backed currency introduced as a means to stabilize Zimbabwe’s economy, has struggled due to several factors.

One of the main challenges is the widespread lack of confidence in the currency, both among consumers and businesses in Zimbabwe.

Professor Hanke suggests that the ZiG’s decline is largely due to Zimbabweans’ reluctance to trust the new currency.

This sentiment is compounded by ongoing economic challenges within the country, making it difficult for the currency to gain traction.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) has also acknowledged the difficulties surrounding the ZiG.

In an official statement, the RBZ admitted that the gold-backed currency should be allowed to “float freely on the foreign exchange market.”

This suggestion signals a potential shift in strategy, as the RBZ considers more market-driven approaches to address the ZiG’s plummeting value.

Zanu PF Suspends Masimirembwa Over ‘2030 ED Anenge Achipo’ Slogan

Should Opposition Political Parties in Zimbabwe Unite or Not?

By GHK Citizens Voice | To assess whether opposition parties in Zimbabwe should unite, it is crucial to consider the backgrounds, ideologies, and actions of the key political players involved.

Linda Masarira

Linda Masarira, the president of the LEAD Party, is often criticized for her alleged ties to Zanu PF patronage and her role in perpetuating divisive opposition politics. She is primarily known for attacking Nelson Chamisa and other relevant opposition figures whose agendas resonate with the masses. Masarira’s political ideology and actions seem disconnected from the aspirations of ordinary citizens, as her influence stems from her association with Zanu PF’s Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) rather than a popular mandate. Her controversial personal conduct and perceived lack of credibility further undermine her role as a significant political figure.

Professor Lovemore Madhuku

Lovemore Madhuku, leader of the National Constitutional Assembly, is another controversial figure. His participation in POLAD and willingness to accept perks such as Isuzu double cabs from Zanu PF raise questions about his independence. As a member of the 2018 Motlanthe Commission, Madhuku played a role in exonerating the regime for the post-election killings of citizens, and no compensation or accountability followed. While claiming to champion constitutionalism, his legal representation of Zanu PF officials in corruption cases highlights a glaring conflict of interest.

Thokozani Khupe

Thokozani Khupe’s political history is marked by her alleged capture by Zanu PF, particularly through financial support for her medical bills by Emmerson Mnangagwa. Khupe has been involved in several political betrayals, including her role in dividing the MDC Alliance after being controversially handed its leadership by the courts. Her subsequent actions, such as splitting the CCC party, have left her widely viewed as a compromised and untrustworthy political actor.

Professor Welshman Ncube

Welshman Ncube, despite his notable contributions to Zimbabwe’s politics, is often criticized for his tribal and regionalist approach, as well as his inconsistency and opportunism. His legal representation of controversial figures like Phelekezela Mphoko and Obert Mpofu in corruption cases undermines his credibility as an anti-corruption advocate. His divisive tactics and inability to unite the grassroots make him an unlikely candidate to lead a cohesive opposition.

Tendai Biti

Tendai Biti has been a symbol of hope for many Zimbabweans, but his political career is marked by critical missteps. His elitist approach and inability to connect with grassroots movements have hindered his effectiveness as an opposition leader. Furthermore, his decision to defend Gideon Gono in court despite previously accusing him of corruption casts doubt on his commitment to justice. Biti’s past compromises, such as during his 2007 treason charges, have left him vulnerable to criticism of being a weakened and compromised leader.

Douglas Mwonzora

Douglas Mwonzora’s political career has been riddled with controversy and division. From his contentious rise within the MDC under Morgan Tsvangirai to his eventual betrayal of Nelson Chamisa, Mwonzora has often prioritized personal ambitions over the collective goals of the opposition. His alliance with Thokozani Khupe to wrestle control of the MDC Alliance is emblematic of his divisive approach.

The Unity Question

Given these individual backgrounds, one must ask: Can unity among such diverse and compromised political actors truly advance the opposition’s cause?

  1. Divided Priorities: Many of these leaders have a history of prioritizing personal interests over collective opposition goals.
  2. Betrayal of Trust: Past actions, such as splitting parties and siphoning off resources, have eroded trust among opposition leaders and their supporters.
  3. Disconnected from the Masses: The unity agenda appears to be driven by elites rather than a genuine call from the grassroots, raising questions about its legitimacy.

Key Questions for Reflection

Why has the call for unity come from elites rather than the masses?

How can trust be rebuilt when many of these leaders have previously betrayed their parties and supporters?

What assurances exist that unity this time will be different from past failed attempts?

Unity among Zimbabwe’s opposition is critical to challenge Zanu PF effectively. However, for such unity to be meaningful, it must be built on accountability, genuine representation of the masses, and a clear commitment to the collective good over personal interests. Without addressing these fundamental issues, any attempt at unity risks being yet another betrayal of the long-suffering Zimbabwean people.

Zanu PF To (S)elect New Leader As ED Retires

By Political Reporter – Zanu PF has announced that it will hold elections in 2027 for a candidate who will be a successor to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Sources within the party confirm that Mnangagwa will conclude his leadership in 2028, as Chiwenga allies successfully blocked the “ED2030” slogan that symbolised support for an extended Mnangagwa rule.

The move to quash the ED2030 slogan unfolded during a heated Harare provincial coordinating committee meeting last Sunday, where Chiwenga’s allies aggressively challenged the party’s stance on Mnangagwa’s long-term vision.

Chiwenga supporters questioned Harare Zanu PF chairperson Godwills Masimirembwa and party national commissar Munyaradzi Machacha on why the slogan was still in circulation despite Mnangagwa’s October statement that he would not seek re-election.

This firm stance signalled a significant win for Chiwenga’s camp, which has been working to assert its influence and pave the way for new leadership in 2027.

National commissar Machacha attempted to address concerns, affirming that Zanu PF would indeed choose a new leader in 2027 in preparation for the 2028 elections, formally ending Mnangagwa’s tenure.

This confirmation quelled efforts from Mnangagwa loyalists to push for an extended mandate, underscoring Chiwenga’s rising influence within the party.

While Mnangagwa’s supporters argued that his leadership was crucial for Zanu PF’s stability, Chiwenga’s faction appears to have definitively curtailed any aspirations for an extended rule.

The internal battles between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, rooted in the 2017 coup that toppled long-time leader Robert Mugabe, have shaped Zanu PF’s trajectory over the past several years.

Initially, Chiwenga’s military-backed intervention placed Mnangagwa in power, yet the two factions have since diverged on their vision for the party’s future.

Chiwenga’s recent victory reflects his growing dominance and sets the stage for a leadership transition under his influence.

As the dust settles on this latest showdown, Zanu PF is poised to redefine its leadership structure, with Chiwenga now standing as the clear frontrunner to take the party’s reins.

Farai Marapira, the Zanu PF spokesperson, declined to comment on these developments from China, as the implications of Chiwenga’s ascendancy continue to ripple through the party.

Untold Coup Day Brutality

By Political Reporter -Today marks eight years since the dramatic military coup that ended Zimbabwe’s long-serving leader, President Robert Mugabe’s 37-year reign in November 2017.

While officially dubbed Operation Restore Legacy, the coup is remembered by many for its brutal undercurrents—violence against state agents and intimidation of journalists—details that were hushed at the time but linger as a dark stain on Zimbabwe’s history.

The day began with unprecedented violence. Several members of the secret police and uniformed officers were killed by soldiers for resisting the coup.

At the state broadcaster, Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) headquarters, soldiers unleashed terror on reporters and presenters, beating them and threatening them with death if they reported the brutalities.

After taking control of the premises, they raided TV and radio facilities to facilitate the military’s coup announcement.

In the early hours of the day, Major General Sibusiso Moyo, later the coup’s public face, appeared on ZBC television, his tone calm but his message resolute.

He declared the military’s intervention, framing it as a necessary step to address the country’s worsening political and economic crises. “Following the address we made on November 13, 2017, which we believe our main broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, and The Herald were directed not to publicize, the situation in our country has moved to another level,” Moyo stated.

Behind his words lay scenes of chaos and violence that would never make the headlines.

The coup was the culmination of deep-seated tensions within the ruling Zanu PF party.

It centered on a bitter factional struggle between the G40 faction, aligned with Mugabe’s wife Grace, and the Lacoste faction, led by then-Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Grace Mugabe’s rapid rise in Zimbabwean politics alienated many, including the military.

When Mnangagwa was unceremoniously dismissed as Vice President in early November 2017, it became the tipping point.

Under General Constantino Chiwenga’s leadership, the military stepped in, claiming to prevent a “dynastic takeover” by the Mugabe family.

Despite the military’s insistence that their actions were not a coup, the message was clear.

Images of tanks stationed across Harare and soldiers patrolling strategic points left no doubt that power had shifted from Mugabe’s grasp.

Under mounting pressure from the military, Zanu PF, and an exhausted public, Mugabe resigned on November 21, 2017, just as impeachment proceedings began in Parliament.

Initially, the coup sparked hope for a brighter future. Mnangagwa, inaugurated on November 24, 2017, pledged a “new dispensation” marked by democratic reforms, economic recovery, and reconciliation.

For many Zimbabweans, the end of Mugabe’s rule felt like a fresh start.

Yet eight years later, those promises remain unfulfilled. Mnangagwa’s administration has faced mounting criticism for corruption, human rights abuses, and economic stagnation.

The same military that orchestrated Mugabe’s removal has entrenched itself as a powerful player in civilian governance, raising questions about the balance of power in Zimbabwe.

The divisions within Zanu PF remain, and periodic tensions between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga reflect unresolved power struggles.

For journalists and those who witnessed the violence firsthand, the legacy of the coup is one of fear and trauma.

Soldiers’ threats at ZBC, and the broader intimidation of the press, underscored the dangers faced by those tasked with reporting the truth.

As Zimbabwe reflects on November 2017, opinions remain divided.

For some, the coup symbolizes liberation from Mugabe’s authoritarianism.

For others, it is a grim reminder that toppling one ruler is not enough to dismantle entrenched systems of power, corruption, and violence.

The events of that day reshaped Zimbabwe’s political landscape, but the ultimate question lingers: Has the country turned a corner, or was the coup merely a reshuffling of power within the same oppressive system?

Mnangagwa Fires 16 Members

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF has expelled 16 members on allegations of supporting independent candidates during the last election, a move highlighting deepening cracks within the party amid ongoing power struggles between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Most of the suspended members are from Masvingo Province, a key political battleground.

They have been barred from the party for five years, as outlined in the Central Committee report presented by Mnangagwa, the party’s First Secretary and President, at the 21st ZANU PF National People’s Conference held last month in Bulawayo.

The suspended members include Gracious Mapurisa, Jainos Mudonhi, Blessing Hwititi, Wilson Hwafa, Rebecca Matanga, Wellington Hove, Josiel Gumbo, Tavaona Dube, Chamunorwa Ndlela, Simbarashe Pen, Nomsa Masaga, Godknows Moyo, Antalia Ngwenya, Silandekani Khalamesi, and Hlamulo from Masvingo Province.

Additionally, Batsirai Pemheni from Manicaland Province was also expelled.

Some of these members had contested as independent candidates in the National Assembly and local authority elections.

Notable individuals who ran as independents but failed to secure seats include Thomas Munjoma (Mutare West), Zivanai Peter Musanhu (Mt Darwin West), Eunice Mangwende (Murewa North), George Vhengere (Gutu East), Tafadzwa Shumba (Mwenezi West), Jeremiah Ndlukuwani (Gokwe Chireya), and Siphathisiwe Mathema (Nkayi North).

Their defiance by running as independents led to automatic expulsion from Zanu PF, as the party has a long-standing policy against supporting candidates outside its official structures.

However, this wave of suspensions is not just about disciplinary enforcement; it also reflects the underlying factional battles within Zanu PF, particularly between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga.

The mass suspensions come against the backdrop of a simmering rivalry between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, as the party approaches a critical period of internal restructuring. Masvingo Province, where most of the expelled members hail from, has long been seen as a flashpoint of factional contestation.

Analysts believe the expulsions are part of Mnangagwa’s broader strategy to consolidate power by eliminating perceived allies of Chiwenga, who has been quietly building his own support base.

Chiwenga, a former military general who played a pivotal role in Mnangagwa’s rise to power during the 2017 coup, has reportedly grown frustrated with the President’s centralization of authority.

The latest suspensions may further widen the rift between the two leaders, as Chiwenga’s backers could view them as a direct assault on their faction.

The timing of the suspensions, just after the national conference, suggests Mnangagwa is asserting his authority ahead of the party’s elective congress, where leadership dynamics could be redefined.

What Is Wheel Alignment?

Chiwenga Loyalists Declare Genarari’s Mission Is To Arrest Corruption

By A Correspondent

Loyalists of Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga have reaffirmed their support for the military figure’s alleged goal of eradicating corruption, drawing comparisons to anti-corruption measures taken by other African military leaders.

The Varakashi group, who are aligned with Chiwenga’s faction in Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu PF party, have been vocal about their mission to support him as the next leader of the country, especially as current president Emmerson Mnangagwa prepares to conclude his second and final term.

On Thursday, Varakashi, who manage the Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page, posted a comment that underscored their commitment to Chiwenga’s leadership and his focus on dismantling corrupt networks within Zimbabwe.

The statement referred to recent developments in Mali, where General Assimi Goita’s leadership has been marked by drastic anti-corruption measures.

“Mali under General Assimi Goita’s reign officially becomes the first African nation to be debt-free,” the post reads, pointing to the measures taken by Goita’s transitional government, which has been commended for addressing the entrenched corruption in the country.

“When General Assimi Goita took over, he sold all the assets belonging to the corrupt elites and sent them to jail, including former president’s son and Ministers.”

The Varakashi group draws parallels between Goita’s bold stance against corruption and the potential for General Chiwenga to enact similar reforms in Zimbabwe.

The comparison to Mali’s success is strategic, aiming to bolster the narrative that military leadership could be the key to addressing corruption, which remains a deep-rooted problem in Zimbabwean politics.

Mali’s transitional government, led by General Goita, has focused heavily on anti-corruption, peacebuilding, and economic recovery.

After a military coup in 2020, Goita assumed power as interim president and has emphasized the restoration of stability, civilian rule, and the dismantling of corrupt systems.

The country recently celebrated its achievement of becoming debt-free, a major milestone attributed to Goita’s administration.

The Varakashi group’s endorsement of this model raises an important question: Is Army Leadership the Only Solution to End Corruption?

While there are significant concerns about the long-term implications of military rule, particularly in terms of democratic governance, some see the heavy-handed approach as a necessary remedy for widespread corruption. In Zimbabwe, where corruption has severely undermined the country’s economic and political systems, figures like Chiwenga and Goita may be viewed as agents of reform—able to act decisively where civilian politicians have failed.

A member of the Varakashi group, speaking on the condition of anonymity, highlighted the urgency of decisive action against corruption. “For too long, we have seen corrupt elites destroy the fabric of our society. We need a leader who can act without hesitation, who is not bound by the interests of powerful corrupt individuals. General Chiwenga is that leader,” they said.

Supporters of Chiwenga’s rise to power argue that the military is the only institution capable of taking the necessary steps to restore order and address the systemic corruption that has plagued Zimbabwe for decades.

The Varakashi group continues to push for this narrative, hoping that Chiwenga’s reputation as a former military commander will translate into his ability to take strong action against corruption.

However, critics of military governance warn that such leadership risks undermining democratic processes and human rights.

While anti-corruption campaigns led by military regimes, like Goita’s in Mali, have achieved significant results, they have also come with questions about the legitimacy and sustainability of their rule.

The long-term challenge for any military-led government, including one under Chiwenga, will be ensuring that reforms don’t come at the expense of democratic freedoms and civilian oversight.

Zanu PF Denies Involvement in Mozambique Election Chaos

Will the Warriors Qualify for the AFCON 2025 Finals?

From 21st December 2025 to 18th January 2026, AFCON 2025 will take place. The biennial African football tournament will be held in Morocco, with matches happening in six stadiums in six cities across the country. Ivory Coast, having won AFCON 2023, are the defending champions. The question is, how will the Zimbabwe national football team, a.k.a. The Warriors, perform?

AFCON 2025

At the time of writing, the start of AFCON 2025 is well over a year away. But, that doesn’t mean that excitement isn’t starting to build for it. As AFCON 2025 draws closer, more and more people will be placing bets at online sportsbooks like gg.bet, hoping to make money from their predictions. As AFCON 2025 gets closer, you’ll be able to bet on it; you could, for example, back a particular team to win the tournament or place bets on how a team or individual player performs.

The final will see a total of 24 teams compete against one another. The host country, Morocco, automatically qualified for a place in the final. A total of 51 other countries, including Zimbabwe, are competing for the remaining 23 places, with some already out of the competition. As of the time of writing, the Group stage of the qualifying process is underway, though Zimbabwe is yet to play any of its matches.

How Will The Warriors Fare at AFCON 2025?

Ever since Ivory Coast won the 2023 event, there’s naturally been a lot of talk about which team will be the next victor: will Ivory Coast hang on to their winning title or will another team take it from them? It’s way too early to tell right now, but there’s a good chance The Warriors will do well. This is because the team has done quite well in the past and continues to perform to a high standard today. Here are some of its achievements:

  • Winning the COSAFA Cup a total of six times, more than anyone else
  • Qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations no fewer than five times
  • Qualifying for the African Nations Championship five times

Despite the fact that Zimbabwe’s national football team has an impressive track record, it didn’t actually qualify for the previous AFCON in 2023. This was due to Zimbabwe and Kenya being banned from international football by FIFA due to various reasons, including the mismanagement of public funds.

Thankfully for The Warriors’ players and supporters, Zimbabwe was able to take part in AFCON 2025 and has just as much of a chance of earning a spot in the final as any other team. However, the team isn’t getting off to the best start. So far, The Warriors and the other three teams in Group J have played two matches. Kenya ranks first, followed by Cameroon, with Zimbabwe in third place and Namibia in fourth.

This isn’t the most promising performance from the team, but there are four matches to go. Hopefully, the sub-standard results will give the players the motivation they need to bring their A-game and make sure they go all the way and qualify for the finals.

Do The Warriors Stand a Chance?

With the Warriors not doing the best, people are concerned that the team might not be able to make it past the qualifying stage. Having said this, there’s a good chance the team’s luck will improve and they’ll clinch the wins necessary to make it through. Zimbabwe’s national team has never been successful at AFCON, having failed to make it past the Group stage every time.

However, AFCON 2025 could be when The Warriors break the trend and make it to the coveted final part of the tournament. If this happens, it would do wonders for the team as well as football in Zimbabwe. We’ll know by mid-November whether The Warriors have beaten their record and gone further in AFCON than ever before. Here’s hoping they do well!

Man(41) Bashes Own Mom Over Cash

ZiG Currency Declines Sharply, Now Worst In World

TATU Boss Calls for Transformative Business Leadership in Changing Times

By A Correspondent| TATU Chairperson Nqobile Magwizi has called on businesses to be dynamic, innovative, resilient, and transformative to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world.

This was his core message during the celebration of TATU’s 20th anniversary in Harare yesterday, marking two decades of the company’s impact in Zimbabwe’s advertising sector.

Reflecting on the journey since TATU’s establishment in 2004, Magwizi, a business consultant with extensive experience in strategic partnerships, marketing, and public relations, attributed the agency’s success to a combination of resilience, innovation, strong relationships, and transformation.

“As we reflect on our 20-year journey, the rewards of showing up become abundantly clear. They didn’t come easily, but they came because we had faith and stayed the course,” said Magwizi.

He identified four key rewards that have characterized TATU’s legacy over the years

“Showing up meant daring to think differently. We broke new ground with projects like Zimbabwe’s first animated film, Nyami Nyami, and landmark events such as Miss Tourism World and the National Arts Merit Awards franchising model. These achievements weren’t just milestones—they redefined what was possible in our industry,” Magwizi said.

On resilience, Magwizi said: “Showing up wasn’t always glamorous. There were times when we spent more hours in bank queues than in boardrooms, times when pivoting wasn’t an option but a necessity for survival. Yet, we adapted, grew stronger, and weathered every storm,” he added, noting the economic challenges that have shaped TATU’s journey.

Magwizi emphasized the importance of building trust.

“Showing up meant building trust with clients, employees, and partners. Today, we celebrate: 200+ brands that we’ve had the privilege to work with, 500+ employees who’ve supported their families through TATU, and countless students who’ve launched their careers with us.”

In addressing the integration of emerging technologies, Magwizi underscored the importance of embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) while retaining a human touch in advertising. “As we look to the future, the advertising landscape continues to evolve. AI offers enormous potential—predicting consumer behavior, automating processes, and creating tailored experiences. At TATU, we’ve embraced this shift. However, while technology advances, the heart of advertising remains human. It’s about telling stories that resonate and creating connections that matter,” he said.

TATU Managing Director, Martin Matamisa, spoke about the company’s contribution to Zimbabwe’s economy, attributing its success to clients, staff, suppliers, and industry peers. “Today, we have many success stories to share, including this milestone. We owe it to all our clients, suppliers, staff, advisors, and competitors who have made us become a better version of ourselves. We also salute our fallen TATU heroes and those in absentia for their immense contributions to our brand story,” said Matamisa.

Founded on October 5, 2004, by Carl Joshua Ncube, Chido Madzivanyika, and Nqobile Magwizi, TATU’s name—derived from the Shona word for “three”—symbolized both its founders and the primary media channels of the time: Print, Television, and New Media.

The anniversary celebration also recognized the contributions of companies that have supported TATU’s growth, with awards presented to organizations such as Rainbow Tourism Group, Khaya Cement, Delta Beverages, Fossil Holdings, ZB Financial Holdings, NC & Banat, and Sakunda Holdings.

“Tonight, I raise a toast to everyone who has shown up for TATU over the past 20 years… To the incredible TATU team, clients, and partners, you are the reason we stand here today—not just celebrating 20 years of TATU, but 20 years of faith, perseverance, and impact,” Magwizi concluded.

Coup Day

By Political Reporter-Today marks eight (8) years since the dramatic military coup that toppled Zimbabwe’s long-serving leader, President Robert Mugabe, in November 2017.

Dubbed the “Operation Restore Legacy,” the coup was a watershed moment in Zimbabwean politics, hailed by some as a path to renewal and decried by others as a thinly veiled power grab.

In the early hours of that fateful day, Zimbabweans woke to an unprecedented broadcast from the state broadcaster ZBC.

Major General Sibusiso Moyo, later known as the coup spokesperson, appeared on television to declare the military’sintervention.

His statement, carefully crafted to project calm and reassurance, framed the takeover as a necessary step to “address the deteriorating political, social, and economic situation” in the country.

“Following the address we made on November 13, 2017, which we believe our main broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and The Herald were directed not to publicize, the situation in our country has moved to another level,” Moyo stated. The message, coupled with images of military vehicles stationed at strategic points in Harare, made it clear: the end of Mugabe’s 37-year reign had begun.

The coup was the culmination of escalating tensions within the ruling Zanu PF party.

At the center was a factional war between the so-called G40 faction, aligned with Mugabe’s wife, Grace, and the Lacoste faction, led by then-Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Grace Mugabe’s rapid ascent in Zimbabwean politics, coupled with her ambitions to succeed her husband, alienated many within the party and the military.

When Mnangagwa was abruptly dismissed from his vice-presidential post in early November 2017, it became a tipping point.

Under General Constantino Chiwenga’s leadership, the military mobilized to intervene, ostensibly to prevent a “dynastic takeover” and restore stability.

Under mounting pressure from the military, Zanu PF, and a public weary of his rule, Mugabe initially resisted stepping down.

On November 18, tens of thousands of Zimbabweans flooded the streets in unprecedented unity, calling for his resignation.

The 93-year-old leader eventually capitulated on November 21, 2017, submitting his resignation letter to Parliament as impeachment proceedings loomed.

It marked the end of an era for a man who had been both celebrated as a liberation hero and condemned for turning Zimbabwe into a symbol of autocratic misrule.

Emmerson Mnangagwa was inaugurated as Zimbabwe’s president on November 24, 2017, promising a “new dispensation” characterized by economic recovery, democratic reforms, and reconciliation.

For many, the coup initially symbolized hope—a chance to reverse decades of economic mismanagement and authoritarianism.

However, eight years on, critics argue that the promises of the post-Mugabe era remain largely unfulfilled.

Mnangagwa’s administration has been marred by allegations of corruption, human rights abuses, and economic stagnation.

The optimism that greeted his rise has been replaced by growing disillusionment, as many Zimbabweans feel that the new leadership has perpetuated the same systems of patronage and oppression that defined Mugabe’s rule.

The coup not only reshaped Zimbabwe’s political landscape but also set a precedent for military involvement in civilian governance.

Analysts argue that the military’s role in ousting Mugabe has entrenched its influence in Zimbabwean politics, making it a key player in decision-making processes.

Divisions within Zanu PF have persisted in the years since the coup, and tensions between Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga—who played a central role in the military intervention—have periodically surfaced.

The question of succession and internal power struggles continue to loom large over the ruling party.

Meanwhile, the economic woes that plagued the Mugabe era—hyperinflation, unemployment, and widespread poverty—persist.

For ordinary Zimbabweans, the promises of the coup remain a distant dream.

As Zimbabwe reflects on the events of November 2017, the legacy of the coup remains contentious.

For some, it represents the moment when Zimbabwe finally broke free from Mugabe’s authoritarian grip.

For others, it is a stark reminder that removing one leader is not enough to dismantle deeply entrenched systems of power and corruption.

Eight years later, the question remains: Has Zimbabwe truly turned a corner, or was the coup merely a reshuffling of power within the same oppressive system? The answers, it seems, are still unfolding.

Zim Man Murdered In UK

Leeds, United Kingdom – A young Zimbabwean man was brutally murdered in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Saymore, a 23-year-old beloved by friends and known for his vibrant personality, was fatally stabbed in a shocking attack Tuesday night in the Belle Isle area.

The deceased

According to police, Saymore was assaulted inside a ground-floor flat by three assailants who immediately fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.

Despite emergency treatment on-site and efforts to save him in the hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Authorities launched an extensive search, employing a police helicopter to track down suspects, which led to the swift arrest of two teenagers, aged 18 and 16, in the nearby Middleton area.

The suspects are currently under investigation on suspicion of murder, though they were initially detained on charges related to the possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

The arrests have raised speculations, especially among friends and community members, about possible foul play tied to the circumstances surrounding Saymore’s death.

The West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is spearheading the investigation, seeking to clarify the chain of events that culminated in such a brutal killing.

Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle, leading the inquiry, expressed sympathy for Saymore’s family and a commitment to uncovering the truth behind his tragic death.

“This young man’s sudden and violent end is an absolute tragedy, and we are working tirelessly to provide his family with answers during this difficult time,” he stated.

Authorities are actively appealing for witnesses who may have observed any suspicious activities near the Winrose Avenue area, where Saymore was attacked.

The police have also called on local residents to review CCTV or doorbell footage, urging drivers with dashcams who were near the scene around midnight to share any relevant recordings.

The Zimbabwean community in Leeds, where Saymore was well known, is reeling from the shock.

Friends described him as warm, outgoing, and fluent in Shona. He was a familiar face at Call Lane’s nightlife scene and at Exodus, a popular venue frequented by the Zimbabwean diaspora.

Tino Machakaire Says Not True that Rwanda, Botswana Ministers Are More Educated Than Him

By Dorrothy Moyo | lMinister Tino Machakaire Denies Viral Claims Comparing Zimbabwe and Rwanda’s Leadership

Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts, and Recreation, Tino Machakaire, has denied claims circulating on social media that compare his qualifications with those of Rwanda’s Minister of Youth, Dr. U.J. Nepo Abdallah, in a viral image sparking widespread debate.

The graphic juxtaposes the educational backgrounds and professional achievements of the two ministers, portraying Dr. Abdallah as a highly qualified individual with a medical degree, a master’s in public health, and a PhD candidacy. Meanwhile, the image lists Machakaire as a former ZANU PF youth leader, head of logistics for the Command Agriculture program, and an employee of ZESA.

The post, accompanied by the headline “Is this Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030?”, has triggered intense discussions about meritocracy in leadership and the qualifications of public officials in Zimbabwe. Critics have accused the post of attempting to undermine the government’s Vision 2030 goals, which aim to achieve a prosperous and empowered upper-middle-income society.

Machakaire, however, has dismissed the claims, responding on social media with a straightforward denial: “This is not true.”

Supporters of the minister quickly rallied behind him in the comments section. One user, Abel Shoko, defended Machakaire, stating, “They are opposition people trying to denigrate you, don’t take it to heart.” Another user, Clifford Mapepa, added humor by suggesting that the minister consult his constituents in Hwedza before reacting further.

The post also features an image of Lesego Chombo, a law graduate, suggesting a contrast with leadership roles in Zimbabwe. However, it remains unclear why Chombo’s image is included in the discussion.

This incident highlights growing public scrutiny of Zimbabwe’s leadership and qualifications, especially as the country seeks to meet its Vision 2030 objectives. While some argue that the post exposes real gaps in governance, others view it as politically motivated propaganda aimed at tarnishing officials’ reputations.

As the debate continues to unfold, Machakaire’s denial adds a layer of complexity, leaving citizens questioning the intentions behind such comparisons.

Sakhile Dube in her majestique

Her wings, expansive and majestic, cascade with shimmering, gem-like feathers in hues of midnight purple, deep violet, and hints of emerald and sapphire. They stretch wide, as if ready to take flight, catching the faintest hint of light to reveal an iridescent glow. Each feather is delicately bordered with silver beading, creating a mesmerizing tapestry that captures the beauty of Zimbabwe’s natural landscapes.

Around her head and woven into her braids, beads and cowries cascade in delicate rows, framing her face like a crown—an acknowledgment of her roots and a tribute to the beauty of African adornment. Her eyes, steady and determined, mirror the gaze of the eagle’s head she clutches close to her heart, symbolic of both grace and fierce protection. The eagle’s golden beak and sharp eyes seem almost lifelike, as if the spirit of the bird itself is embodied within her.

The lower part of her costume transitions into a skirt resembling stone brickwork, symbolizing Zimbabwe’s ancient architecture and the strength of its people. It appears as though she rises from a foundation of stone, representing resilience and a connection to the land that cannot be severed. This grounding element contrasts beautifully with the ethereal wings, suggesting a balance between earth and sky, between heritage and the aspirations that soar above.

Crisis of Fake Qualifications in Zimbabwe

By Eng. Jacob Kudzayi Mutisi | The prevalence of fake academic qualifications in Zimbabwe is a pressing issue that continues to undermine public trust in government and institutions. A recent case involving Harare City Council’s Takudzwa Dzumbunu, who misled a Commission of Inquiry about her qualifications, underscores this troubling trend. Dzumbunu falsely claimed to hold a Bachelor of Science Honours degree, later admitting she had not completed her studies. This incident illustrates a broader problem, many officials are operating under fraudulent credentials, which raises serious questions about their competence.

The absence of a reliable qualification verification system in Zimbabwe has allowed this misconduct to flourish. The Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (ZIE) developed a verification system through its ICT division, ZICT, aimed at addressing the rampant issue of fake qualifications. However, the rollout has faced significant resistance. Many individuals who were supposed to endorse the system were themselves found to have falsified qualifications, creating a conflict of interest that stalled its implementation.

Recent audits have revealed that numerous senior managers across various sectors possess fake qualifications, further highlighting the urgent need for reform. If a thorough verification process were implemented to check the credentials of all government and council officials, it is likely that only a handful would pass the scrutiny.

Addressing the crisis of fake qualifications is essential for restoring integrity and accountability in Zimbabwean governance. A robust verification system would not only improve the quality of leadership but also enhance public confidence in institutions. The time has come for decisive action to combat this pervasive issue, ensuring that only qualified individuals hold positions of responsibility.

Mai Titi Appears Pointing at Uebert Angel as Zimbabwe’s ‘Beltazar’ in Church Sleeping With All Women

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – Socialite Felistas Murata, popularly known as Mai Titi, has made striking allegations against unnamed religious leaders in Zimbabwe, accusing them of exploiting their congregations under the guise of spiritual authority. While Mai Titi did not name any individual, her descriptions and claims have curiously and singularly drawn parallels to her prophet Uebert Angel, sparking widespread speculation.

In a video circulating online (watch below), Mai Titi likened an unnamed religious figure in Zimbabwe to the controversial U.S. preacher Beltazar, who is accused of exploiting hundreds of women in his congregation.

Though she refrained from naming the individual, Mai Titi’s descriptions appear to align closely with Uebert Angel’s alleged statements, which have previously been criticized for their controversial and suggestive nature.

Mai Titi’s Broader Allegations

In her remarks, Mai Titi alleged that such behavior is widespread among religious leaders in Zimbabwe. She accused them of exploiting vulnerable women, including married ones, under the pretense of spiritual authority.

“In Zimbabwe, we know men of God who bed half of their congregations. They don’t stop at church members—they move to friends and even family members. It’s worse than people realize,” she said.

Her comments have fueled speculation that her accusations point directly at Angel, as the preacher has made public statements that align with the behaviors Mai Titi described.

Angel’s Response: “Moral Failure is Not a Crime”

Uebert Angel has not directly addressed Mai Titi’s allegations but has previously defended himself against similar accusations. He has maintained that “moral failure is not a crime” and emphasized the distinction between morality and legality.

“What crime is it? You cannot cry more than the bereaved,” Angel has said in the past, further igniting public debate over his conduct.

“You have surrendered your flesh to us, so we can sleep with you anytime,” the preacher says on video. “For the anointing to touch someone, that person needs to release their flesh. If the flesh is not released, the anointing cannot have access,” Uebert Angel is on video further justifying his actions.

Legal and Ethical Implications

The allegations have sparked calls for greater scrutiny of religious institutions in Zimbabwe, with activists urging legal authorities to investigate potential abuse of power and exploitation within churches.

As the controversy continues to unfold, attention remains focused on the alleged connections between Mai Titi’s accusations and Uebert Angel’s past statements, with many calling for transparency and justice in addressing the claims.
