Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has said the Zanu PF regime is ideologically bankrupt and cannot transform the lives of suffering citizens.
Writing on Twitter, Hon Biti accused the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa of advancing a ” dangerously unpatriotic agenda” through rewarding Russians and the Chinese with secret mining deals.
“Mr Mnangwagwa must therefore know that within the womb of present day Zimbabwe, a new Zimbabwe is ready to emerge . One born from 41 years of exclusion & extraction , pain & suffering. One that the wananchi will treasure & cherish . A new Zimbabwe…
The Mnangwagwa regime on the other hand remains vacuous and moribund. It’s defining anchors are extraction, looting & serving the power retention agenda.A dangerously unpatriotic agenda consisting of selling off mining rights to Chinese ,Russsians and other cartels asset stripping…
Part of the challenge of the Mnangwagwa regime is its ideological bankruptcy and inability to articulate any value, issue or cause it stands for . Despite his weaknesses Mugabe’s mythology was nationalism eventually immortalized by the land reform program &the indigenization agenda,” argued Hon Biti.

By A Correspondent- Mthwakazi Liberation Front (MLF) spokesperson Crispen Nyoni has warned chiefs in Matabeleland and Midlands not to allow Gukurahundi perpetrators to use them to escape justice by concealing evidence around the killings
MLF made the remarks following the meeting which President Emmerson Mnangagwa held with Chiefs from Matabeleland at the Bulawayo State House recently.
The government announced that victims and survivors of the mass killings will be compensated.
Over 20 000 people were killed at the time after the government of late President Robert Mugabe unleashed the fifth brigade soldiers to deal with the suspected dissidents.
The soldiers ended up running amok killing innocent civilians in horrific incidents which those who witness still shed tears when they relate about them.
Nyoni in a statetemnt said Mnangagwa came to ask chiefs to assist him break the law again.
“Now, this statement fits well in the case of the Matabeleland Chiefs who meet Mnangagwa recently in his bid to permanently bury the Gukurahundi genocide Case against him and his fellow participants in the brazen butchering of the Matabeleland people,” Nyoni said.
He said the Chiefs are active participants in trying to assist a criminal in his plans to clean and exonerate himself from wrong doing.
“That is very wrong. The right thinking persons will not accept such an attempt. It is evil. The question is, “What is the price of a human being who has been killed for non other reason than, being against Zanu PF and for believing in a Ndebele? Chiefs must be stopped from doing what they agreed to do. Not In Our Land!!!” he said.

A Zimbabwe university has raised eyebrows after it published a dress code which critics claim unfairly targets women. The Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) warned that lecturers have the power to bar students who violate the dress code from attending lectures.
In a notice to all students, the office of the registrar at ZEGU wrote,

We want to remind all students that:
a. ZEGU encourages students to develop a lasting philosophy of good dressing and grooming.
b. Therefore, take care of the following principle: “Tight clothing (e.g., skin tights, leg-ins) cut offs/miniskirts (anything more than 5cm above the knees), shorts, slippers, tops that reveal breast cleavages, back-outs, crop-tops/stomach-outs, bandeau, see-troughs and other kinds of inappropriate clothing are not allowed on campus (especially classes and church services) and other university related off campus functions”.
c. Lecturers can bar students from attending lectures if they are not dressed appropriately. d. Select and wear clothing which gives dignity and an expression of our God given ability to appreciate beauty, creativity, harmony, and good taste.
ZEGU was established in 2012 in Bindura, Zimbabwe. It is the first Pentecostal University in Zimbabwe.
The university’s controversial dress code has been met with mixed reactions on social media platforms. Some people applauded the university for taking the high ground on values and morality. Others, however, deplored the University’s stance saying that it is archaic and discriminatory of women.

The Zanu-PF faction under the moniker G40 says it is still alive and planning the takeover of the ruling party ahead of the 2023 polls.
Several members of the G40 cabal were hounded out of Zanu-PF and forced into exile following the November 2017 military coup that ousted the late former President Robert Mugabe.
Key G40 members who were against then Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rise included Saviour Kasukuwere, Jonathan Moyo and Patrick Zhuwao, among others.
“Facts only: the overwhelming majority of G40 in Zanu-PF’s leadership and membership ranks were neither expelled nor left the party after the 2017 army coup,” Moyo, a former Higher and Tertiary Education minister and Zanu-PF politburo member, said on Twitter yesterday.
“They are in it. It’s precisely for this reason that the most strategic fertile ground for change in Zimbabwe is the Zanu-PF base.”
Moyo claimed that Mnangagwa was imposed on the people by the army.
Mnangagwa was booted out of government and Zanu-PF in November 2017 before fleeing to neighbouring South Africa, only to return and take over power after the coup.
“People’s choice, you? Since when? The real issue is, are you still the army’s choice? Without the army, what they call G40 will finish you politically in broad daylight like it did before the 2017 military coup and in the 2018 election only for the army to rescue you,” Moyo said.
But Zanu-PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday dismissed the former Higher Education minister as a daydreamer.
“It’s hogwash, he can continue dreaming,” he said.
Observers yesterday supported Moyo’s claim with some former G40 kingpins saying the real Zanu-PF remained within the lower ranks and other strategic positions while a few “unelectable” people allocated themselves top posts.
Norton legislator Temba Mliswa weighed in saying in its current form, the ruling Zanu-PF party was at its weakest.
“Ultimately, politics is about the ground. It determines who wins. There is a protest vote coming over issues of people’s welfare and these factional differences from before. That is obvious,” Mliswa said.
“When people are tired of a certain narrative, they protest. Zanu-PF has been driving social media but on the ground, it has no traction. They failed to restructure the party, betraying problems on the ground.”
Mliswa is former Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial chairperson. He contested as an independent MP for Norton after being kicked out of Zanu-PF in 2015.
After the November coup, most G40 members supported Nelson Chamisa’s MDC Alliance, hoping that the youthful opposition leader would unseat Mnangagwa in the 2018 polls, which the latter claims were rigged. – The Independent
The Passenger Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) has implored the government to break the Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ZUPCO)’s monopoly by licensing more private players to provide public transport services.
This follows yesterday’s chaos caused by ZUPCO’s inability to provide transport timeously, leaving thousands of commuters waiting in winding queues dejectedly in various terminuses in Harare.
The transport challenges were exacerbated by a police clampdown on mushikashika vehicles that have been filling the gap left by ZUPCO.
PAZ national coordinator Tafadzwa Goliati urged Government to consider licensing more private players so that the situation improves. He said:
While efforts to increase the number of buses through the importation of new coaches are noted and commended, we humbly recommend that the Government also augment its existing ZUPCO fleet with other alternative mass public transport initiatives.
Meanwhile, ZUPCO chief executive officer Everisto Madangwa said ZUPCO is expecting 50 more buses next week.
ZUPCO currently owns a fleet of 262 buses and at least 550 more from franchisees.- The Sunday Mail
By A Correspondent- Zanu PF legislator for Muzarabani South Tapera Saizi has taken the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination to the apostolic sects in his constituency.
Honorable Saizi realized that the apostolic sects were reluctant to participate in vaccination programs due to their religious beliefs hence he decided to take heed from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call of Legislators taking the program to the people.
He engaged various health stakeholders and is still visiting the apostolic sects the mobile vaccination team and getting the apostolic sects vaccinated after full advice.
“Having noticed that the apostolic sects were reluctant to take the vaccination program we teamed up with various health organizations and encouraged them to be vaccinated, we are delighted to note that we trained vaccination champions and amongst the champions we have members from the apostolic sects,” Saizi said.
“In Chiweshe, Chigwida area we were invited by people from Johanne Marange sect on Friday to vaccinate them and we went with the team and vaccinated the sect from there we went to Chaona and did the same exercise.”
“I just want to thank the president for making sure that we get vaccinations and protective clothing in fighting the deadly disease.”
Chiweshe based apostolic leader Cephas Mazarura showed gratitude to the vaccination team and praised Saizi for donating buckets and hand sanitizers.
“We have taken heed of the deadly disease through honorable Saizi’s vaccination team, we are fully behind President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s call of vaccination program hence as vapositori we are partaking in the program,” he said.
“I just want to thank honorable Saizi for donating buckets and hand sanitizers to us.”
By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday ordered the ruling party to immediately start campaigning for the crunch 2023 elections and declared that Zanu PF will never be removed from power.
Mnangagwa told a Zanu PF politburo meeting that the party was targeting to grab MDC Alliance strongholds in urban areas and pleaded with party supporters from the grassroots to bankroll the 2023 campaign.
“Zanu PF rule is here to stay. We are the only revolutionary party with an indisputable rich past and the progressive and inclusive vision for a brighter, more prosperous future,” Mnangagwa said.
“Over and above these constitutional programmes, all leagues of the party must begin to prepare in earnest, for the 2023 harmonised general elections.”
Mnangagwa went on to issue a stern warning to members of his party who sought to pursue secret agendas within the party, saying they would be exposed and dealt with severely.
“As we approach the 2023 harmonised elections, our electorate must keep alert and never be deceived by individual fantasies and unbridled political ambitions disguised as political wisdom. Proxies and conduits of neo-imperialism bent on sowing division and disunity among us must be exposed and defeated all the time,” he said.
The Zanu PF leader accused the opposition of failure to deliver on service in urban areas hence the need to vote them out.
“The opposition has dismally failed our people in urban areas. All party wings must therefore work extremely hard to ensure that we mobilise the urban vote for a resounding party victory,” Mnangagwa said.
“Our people in urban areas have been short-changed by the opposition parties for too, too long. Zanu PF will never leave our urban dwellers behind. They too deserve a better quality of life.”
Turning to sanctions, Mnangagwa said: “We remain unbroken in the face of illegal sanctions and are in fact emerging more united and stronger to deliver that which is outlined in the aims and objectives of the party.”
He said the party structures must find ways to mobilise financial resources while urging his supporters to make use of social media for mobilisation.
“I also challenge the party’s structures to find innovative ways to ensure financial and material resources are mobilised in support of the various activities of the wings of the party at every level,” Mnangagwa said.
“All wings of the party are encouraged to exploit social media as a contemporary tool for political mobilisation. This must see increased dialogue and debate aimed at popularising our party, its ideals and successes as well as the good policies and programmes of the government.
“The positive following and publicity of the party on the ICT platforms must ultimately translate into increased membership and party votes in the 2023 election polls. It is, therefore, incumbent upon the party wings to roll out broader election and voter education programmes across all provinces and districts. We must leave nothing to chance.”
Mnangagwa then paraded a group of alleged MDC Alliance politicians who reportedly defected to the ruling Zanu PF party.
But the MDC Alliance scoffed at Mnangagwa’s claims of defections of “key” opposition officials saying the people paraded at the Zanu PF headquarters were not from their party.
Mnangagwa paraded seven people to the politburo claiming they were from the Nelson Chamisa-led party. They included former Harare deputy mayor Emmanuel Chiroto, former Marondera mayor Farai Nyandoro, among others.
In presenting them, Mnangagwa said: “This morning we received seven former MDC Alliance members, mostly original founders of MDC. They told us that they realised home is home. You can go all over, but you will eventually come back home. We are receiving them wholeheartedly.”
But the MDC Alliance secretary-general Chalton Hwende said Mnangagwa was panicking and desperate as the officials he paraded were not part of the MDC Alliance.
“ED is panicking and desperate. keep on pressing for the #RegisterToVote2023 campaign. Most of the names of the alleged senior members, I have seen for the first time,” Hwende said.
“They have even created a new post of secretary-general for veterans, a post that is not in our constitution. Zanu PF is all about deception and fraud,” Hwende said.
Chiroto who was among the “defectors” left the MDC in 2015 to join the Zimbabwe People First party led by former Vice-President Joice Mujuru.
He and Nyandoro then reportedly joined the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T before tendering their resignations in July this year to pursue “private business”.
Among the defectors is former MDC Zengeza West Member of Parliament Simon Chidhakwa, who was fired from the party after contesting as an independent candidate.
Chidhakwa said he has re-joined Zanu PF on his own volition and promised to work for the development of the country.
Former MDC Alliance national secretary-general for veterans association, Charles Musimuki, who was suspended from MDCA party in July, said the party’s continuous splits was a clear indication of lack of ideology in the opposition camp.
Mnangagwa said the new members must be integrated into the party and be embraced by all structures.
Those that were paraded by Mnangagwa at the Zanu PF headquarters include Chiroto, Nyandoro, Chadamoyo Solomon Machingura, Peter Chandafira, Carlos Mudzongo, Chidhakwa and Musimuki.
By A Correspondent- War veterans in Mashonaland West province have laid bare deep-rooted factionalism in Zanu-PF and blasted their national chairman Christopher Mutsvangwa for accusing other former freedom fighters of being MDC Alliance and G40 elements.
The war veterans accused Mutsvangwa of being reckless, irresponsible and for not standing with them during the recent arrest of nine of their colleagues. The nine were arrested for demanding more gratuities for war veterans.
In a strongly worded statement dated September 2, the Mashonaland West provincial executive members of the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle league, now an arm of Zanu-PF, said while they deplored statements by the war veterans pressure group denouncing the party leadership for ignoring their plight, they were disturbed by Mutsvangwa’s stance accusing them of being linked to the MDC Alliance and G40.
“As much as we deplore the position adopted by the War Veterans Pressure Group, we would be remiss to overlook the press statement issued by Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa regarding the objectives, detention and release of members of the group,” the statement said.
“The statement was deliberately ambiguous, derogatory of the veterans involved and many other veterans and was devoid of the qualities expected of a person in his position as the national chairman of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association and a member of the politburo of the party.”
The war veterans said Mutsvangwa’s statement advanced divisions and tried to separate the War Veterans Pressure Group from other war veterans.
“Let it be known that in as far as the welfare of the veterans is concerned, the War Veterans Pressure Group spoke our minds, which task Cde Mutsvangwa has largely neglected to do,” said the grouping.
“Not only was his (Mutsvangwa) statement baseless, but it was also irresponsible.”
In exposing the rift in Zanu-PF, the war veterans said they “deplored the latent low-key political rivalries of individuals being played out on the veterans of the liberation struggle.”
“The veterans of Hurungwe with neither blink nor apology (sic) deplore in the strongest terms Cde Mutsvangwa’s press statement. The incident quoted above aptly illustrates the workings of the detractors of the party, who have for some time been working to subvert the party from within, which machinations we have become aware of,” said the war veterans.
“It is the intention of this communiqué to put persons with such inclinations, be they within or without the party, on notice that we are vigilant and not complacent in defence of the party and the revolution.”
Nine war veterans were arrested over a week ago after protests at the offices of Finance minister Mthuli Ncube and were released at midnight without charge after the intervention of their lawyers.
The group’s chairperson Amos Sigauke told journalists last week that the government was not sincere in addressing their plight.
Mutsvangwa, who was said to be attending a Zanu-PF politburo meeting yesterday, was not picking calls and had not yet responded to messages sent to him by the time of going to print.
By A Correspondent- The minister of Finance and Economic Development Professor Mthuli Ncube has s assured civil servants that they will this year get their bonuses in November, as usual.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail, Ncube said the 13th cheque will be paid on time. He said:
There is always a 13th cheque for civil servants, always, so they can expect one; we have not changed that. It will be paid on time.
Since January, Government has been progressively reviewing salaries, but workers still demand a restoration of their 2018 salaries when most of them got about USD500.
They currently get around USD200.
The government has also been adjusting pension payouts to cushion pensioners.
The government has also signalled that a meeting with public service representatives will be convened soon to discuss salaries and non-monetary incentives.
Before 2017, the government was delaying paying workers’ salaries as the country was generating insufficient revenue to meet its financial obligations. It was grouping sectors into groups with the security sector among the first groups to get paid.
In a recent interview, the Deputy Minister for Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Lovemore Matuke said the government was looking at ways to discuss salaries and non-monetary incentives. He said:
There are loans that have been available to civil servants so that they can start businesses; there was also a vehicle scheme to import vehicles duty-free, it has been rolling for about 10 years and is pending renewal. We are also looking at the issue of housing. We are working on providing civil servants with accommodation and this is gradually happening.
He said some of the options for improving the welfare of civil servants are expected to come from unions, as they know and understand what is best for them.
By A Correspondent- Three years ago musician Pauline Gundidza released the song titled Ndakakumirira, which according to her was inspired by tales of men who turn their backs on their families.
However, many believed the former Mafriq front-woman was singing in reference to her ex-husband Roki with whom theyhave two kids Sky and Minana.
Pauline had other relationships after leaving Roki, but reiterated that she was no longer focused on affairs, but perfecting her music career.
Since the “return” of Roki to the music limelight, Pauline had been seen within the Chidzoka singer’s rings, which makes her song Ndakakumirira foretelling.
Pauline was part of a group of musicians, who attended the launch of the Young Women for ED (economic development) programme on August 13 by first lady Auxillia Mnangagwa through Honourable Oppah Muchinguri.
The Young Women for ED project just like Roki’s song Patati Patata featuring Congolese rhumba star Koffie Olomide and Tanzanian sensation Rayvanny are part of a plethora of schemes spearheaded by Zanu-PF-aligned businesspeople to prop up support for Mnangagwa.
Pauline has also been instrumental in mobilising artistes to join the Coalition of Zimbabwean Artists (COZA), which she describes as an “affirmative action group for artists”.
However, the group is also linked to controversial cleric Passion Java.
Lately the Ndizvo Chete singer has been updating her followers through her Facebook developments on the production of her forthcoming project, Nyeredzi, which features Roki.
“Yea what a blast it was working with Roki after all these years. Undoubtedly he is still one of Zimbabwe’s best singer/songwriters to date and what a combination with Oskid on the ones and two’s,” posted Pauline on her Facebook page yesterday.
“Thank you for this mammoth opportunity Passion Java Records! Well done team, we bringing the magic back to Zimbabwean urban contemporary music.”
As of yesterday, the video was not available on online music platforms, save on Passion Java Facebook page, which had snippets of the visuals.
Efforts to contact Pauline were fruitless yesterday.
By A Correspondent- A self-proclaimed faith healer disturbed the early morning peace in Cowdray Park in Bulawayo yesterday when a snake reportedly under his “care”, casually slithered into a neighbour’s home, causing an uproar that led to demands for his immediate eviction from the neighbourhood.
Residents thronged youthful healer Mr Jabulani Nyoni’s home, demanding his exit from a community reportedly shaken by the presence of a snake that has been spotted “relaxing” on several occasions in his yard. The snake, was reportedly first spotted by an ex-tenant at the home where Mr Nyoni now resides, who was reportedly shocked at how its presence at the healer’s home was treated casually.
The former tenant had reportedly gone back to collect the rest of his belongings from the house which Mr Nyoni started residing in last month. Residents have been alarmed at the snake’s presence in their midst but yesterday, when it slithered into a neighbour’s home, their pent-up frustrations blew up as they demanded that the snake’s “master” be immediately evicted.
Mr Nyoni’s wife, Ms Tinashe Ndlovu confirmed they were keeping snakes in their house, claiming they were only used for healing processes. She said the snakes were usually kept in a sack inside the house.
“My husband is a faith healer and most times people come to him requesting snakes for different reasons, so he catches them on their behalf. Most times we keep these snakes in a sack and for this one to be seen by people it had come out and was going into our neighbour’s house, we, however, quickly recaptured it and put it in the sack.
What happens is that when he catches the snake, he keeps it for some time while performing the necessary rituals before handing it to those interested, the snakes are not always with us but he only catches them on request,” she said.
According to Ms Ndlovu, after the snake had left the vicinity, Mr Nyoni had instructed his younger sister on how to recapture it.
“When it went into the neighbour’s house, Nyoni was not around and that’s why he gave instructions to his younger sister on how to put it back in the sack. The snake is not even here anymore,” she said.
According to residents, Nyoni’s sister said she had to smear some portions of mysterious traditional medicine on herself before she handled the snake or it would bite her. Contacted for comment, Cowdray Park councillor, Kidwell Mujuru said they had since reported the matter to the police and were hoping that Zimparks will also intervene to help remove the snakes.
“I got a call from residents in the morning, informing me that there was someone who was keeping a snake in his house, I then went with police to the house because the residents were threatening to mete out instant justice on the man. When we interviewed him he confirmed that indeed he had a snake but claimed that it was mainly for his healing practice, he told us that the snake would not harm anyone as it was only for his personal use,” said Clr Mujuru.
The councillor also revealed that since Mr Nyoni was a tenant at the house they demanded that he finds alternative accommodation for their safety.
“Residents have made it clear that they cannot stay with Mr Nyoni and as the ward councillor I have communicated this resolution to him and it is now up to him but honestly residents are worried about their safety, it was okay when the snake was in their house but now that it is going into neighbours’ houses it is now dangerous,” said Clr Mujuru.
Residents who witnessed the drama said at one point Mr Nyoni had threatened them that whoever had guts should come into the house and see the snakes.
“He told us that the snake is his which he uses for his own rituals, when residents were now closing in on him threatening to beat him up he said if anyone had the guts they could come in and see the snake. To be honest we are now living in fear because these snakes can even come into our houses anytime, for now our plea is for the responsible authorities to come and get rid of these snakes,” said a neighbour who declined to be named.
This morning 2 of our youth were attacked while attending the memorial of Mai Chaponda in Ward 9 Cherutombo.
The memorial of Mai Chaponda a longlife MDC Alliance member was being held this weekend, when a lone ZANU Pf thug clad in regalia attacked of District deputy Treasurer with an axe of the head, this left a deep cut on the head needing emergency medical assistance, another member was attacked with a screw driver in the stomach. Such inhuman and violent behavior is totally uncalled for.
Our youth are peaceful but not stupid or incapable of retaliation; we simply do not believe in political violence; nevertheless we are very capable of being extremely violent. We call upon youth who are needlessly used by thier superiors to desist from violence. The ZANU Pf youth has since been arrested clad still in his ZANU Pf regalia; a matter we shall closely be following.
Lets learn to live with each others as brothers and sisters, our only fight should be of a better and prosperous Zimbabwe.
By A Correspondent- Police in Bulawayo have appealed to members of the public to identify the body of a woman who was found dumped inside a sewer manhole at an open space between Pumula East and Pumula South last Wednesday .
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said the woman is believed to be in her 20s. She was wearing a navy-blue skirt, long sleeved bluish sweater and a pair of white All-Star shoes size four.
He said the body was in an advanced state of decomposition hence no injuries were noted due to its state.
It was ferried to United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary for post-mortem and is awaiting identification.
“On the 2nd of September 2021 police received information from BCC plumber that there was a female adult body dumped inside a sewer system with no injuries. The scene was attended by Bulawayo police and fire brigade who retrieved the body.
It was in an advanced state of decomposition. We urge members of the public who are looking for the missing female around 20-30 years to go to United Bulawayo Hospital and identify the body,” said Insp Ncube.
By A Correspondent- Nelson Chamisa, leader of opposition MDC Alliance, has said change is unstoppable in response to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s “ZANU PF Rule Is Here To Stay” remarks.
Mnangagwa told the ZANU PF Politburo that the party was revolutionary, and had an inclusive vision for a brighter, more prosperous future.
He added that the opposition’s “failure” to provide required public goods and services in urban areas was also prolonging ZANU PF’s stay in power.
In response, Chamisa, a former Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services (GNU era), said nothing is permanent. He wrote on Twitter this Sunday:
CHANGE IS UNSTOPPABLE. Nothing and nobody is permanent. Don’t ever mistakenly think that you own the country. Parties don’t own people. People are not objects. Nobody and no party ever ruled or rules forever except GOD. Zimbabwe needs leaders, not rulers. Blessed Sunday Zimbabwe.
The two leaders speak as Zimbabwe is gearing for the 2023 elections with Mnangagwa aiming to extend his rule to at least 2028.
He also previously indicated that he will be in office beyond 2030.
Nelson Chamisa and the opposition aim to dislodge ZANU PF from power for the first time following a series of deafeat in previous elections which were described as “rigged”, “manipulated,” “marred with violence,” and “not free and fair.”
MDC Alliance is still refusing to admit loss in the 2018 presidential election arguing that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) connived with the ruling party to manipulate results in Mnangagwa’s favour.
There are calls for political reforms to be implemented to create a level playing field.
I grew up in Harare formerly known Salisbury which is the capital city of Zimbabwe formerly known as Rhodesia in the surburbs of Hatfield then Avondale West. Life was lovely. I went to good schools and lived in lovely houses with my sweet parents and paternal grandparents for 5 years.
The schools I went to had rules against speaking Shona which is one of the Zimbabwe veneculars on school grounds. The only time we spoke venec (slang for venecular) was outside of school. Most of my age mates continued to speak English outside of school because speaking venec was looked down upon. We also were influenced by the American programmes we watched.
I wasn’t fluent at Shona and Ndebele but I liked speaking them because my parents encouraged it. My father was raised in England before Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980. My father’s family moved back to Zimbabwe after independence. So my father instilled a sense of pride in our Zimbabweaness. He wasn’t fluent at Shona and my mum who is Ndebele actually taught us.
Unfortunately being surrounded by friends who didn’t like to speak Shona my skills were not sharpened. I then moved to England after my father passed away. I completed my high school education and degree in England. My mother ensured that we spoke Shona at home even though it wasn’t fluent but she wanted to make sure we didn’t forget it. In England I met friends from other countries who had a strong sense of pride in their language and culture. I desperately longed for this also but had not had the opportunity.
In my quest to find my identity I suffered as an imposter of other cultures and languages. I tried to learn Patwa (Jamaican), Pigeon English (Ghanaian & Nigerian), I Lingala (Congo) and Hindi. All my efforts to adopt these cultures were fruitless because they were not mine.
Finally it hit me that I was searching for identity but not truly embracing mine. That is when I started learning about my culture as a half Ndebele and half Shona Zimbabwean who’s totem is Lion from Masvingo formerly known as Fort Victoria. I started reading books and asking questions. What I found out about my heritage as a Zimbabwean was exciting.
Zimbabwe is a country full of richness of culture, and history. One of the interesting aspects I learnt is Zimbabwe has 16 official languages (to date 2021) and at least 5 Shona dialects. This information inspired me to create the cartoon Ndawana and Friends. I wanted to share the delicious information I had learnt about our beautiful Zimbabwe.
The Ndawana and Friends project is broken down into the cartoon which can be found on YouTube
Let’s Learn Basic Kalanga, Shona and Ndebele books which can be found at our website www.ndawana.com and a Saturday Chitima-Isitimela show on our Facebook page
(were different guests get interviewed as we share of respective Zimbabwean experiences.
Most people do not like and are not proud of our languages but if we are not then who do we expect to be? As Zimbabweans it’s our duty to learn and preserve our languages. The most internationally spoken language English is used worldwide because it’s being preserved by being taught at schools and being enforced as the acceptable form. We have to know that our languages are acceptable also.
Sure, you are never going to use the venecs at work but they are our languages. We should jealously love, guard and protect them.
By A Correspondent- ZANU PF politburo members today descend on Mazowe district in Mashonaland Central province to try and douse flames following last week’s skirmishes that fingered provincial chairman Kazembe Kazembe.
Chaos rocked the party’s Mazowe district last week after Kazembe reportedly sent his aides to try and change the venue of a district coordinating committee meeting to his private office without the knowledge of other officials, a development that irked party supporters and culminated into clashes.
Kazembe is reportedly at the centre of the fights in the province where he has been accused of dividing the party while pursuing “other agendas.”
In a letter dated August 31 addressed to the party politburo member Kenneth Musanhi, the Zanu PF DCC chairperson for Mazowe Tafadzwa Musarara said there was need for intervention following the skirmishes and fingered Kazembe for being behind the clashes.
Musanhi is the most senior Zanu PF politburo member in the province.
Mazowe DCC spokesperson Kushinga Dutiro confirmed the meeting but could not give details.
“There is a DCC meeting tomorrow,” he said curtly. Politburo members expected for today’s meeting include Musanhi, Fortune Chasi among others.
Musarara said while the district coordinating committee successfully mobilised and undertook their programmes in Mazowe Central, Mazowe North and Mazowe South constituencies, the latest development has affected the party programmes hence the need for intervention.
“Regrettably, we faced unprecedented defiance in Mazowe West constituency. The meeting was, according to the official notice of the meeting issued by the DCC secretary for administration, supposed to be held at Dandamera council hall,” Musarara’s letter read in part.
“The chairman of Dandamera district, Cde (Cladious) Mswaka (who also doubles as Cde Kazembe personal driver), had earlier agreed to prepare the council venue which is a property privately owned by Cde Kazembe.”
“This was done without the knowledge nor approval of the DCC chairman and DCC secretary for administration, Cde (Collence) Ndangana. Consequently, tampers rose and violence erupted among party members leaving me with no option but to cancel the meeting,” Musarara added.
“It is my strong conviction and submission that Cde Mswaka, acting in concert and common purpose with Cde (Johnson) Mudzingwa, Cde (Timothy) Gorejena, (Shadreck) Muwandi, Willie Jones, Mutomba et al, intentionally disrespected and defied the operations of Mazowe DCC without just cause. Their conduct has disrupted the Phase 2 of the restructuring in the entire Mazowe West constituency and indeed has put the name of the party into disrepute,” he said.
“I aver that I am under reasonable apprehension that all this fiasco occurred with tacit approval of Cde Kazembe.”
Following the letter by Musarara, the Zanu PF politburo members in the province are today expected in Mazowe to deal with the matter.
By A Correspondent- Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has ordered his party to intensify intimidation tactics ahead of the crunch 2023 elections at the same time, declaring that he would never be removed from power.
Mnangagwa told a Zanu PF politburo meeting at the weekend that the party was targeting to grab MDC Alliance strongholds in urban areas and pleaded with party supporters from the grassroots to bankroll the 2023 campaign. Mnangagwa said:
Zanu PF rule is here to stay. We are the only revolutionary party with an indisputable rich past and the progressive and inclusive vision for a brighter, more prosperous future.
Over and above these constitutional programmes, all leagues of the party must begin to prepare in earnest for the 2023 harmonised general elections. As we approach the 2023 harmonised elections, our electorate must keep alert and never be deceived by individual fantasies and unbridled political ambitions disguised as political wisdom. Proxies and conduits of neo-imperialism bent on sowing division and disunity among us must be exposed and defeated all the time. The opposition has dismally failed our people in urban areas. Therefore, all party wings must work extremely hard to ensure that we mobilise the urban vote for a resounding party victory.
By A Correspondent- South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has responded to an application by the Friends of Shabanie Mashaba Mines (FOSMM), seeking his country’s courts to compel him (Ramaphosa) to take steps to correct the unconstitutional recognition and enforcement of the rights acquired by the government of Zimbabwe concerning SMM through a decree in the territory of SA.
In their lawsuit directed to the South African presidency, FOSMM states that the South African government acted unlawfully by allowing a Zimbabwean government order to take effect in South Africa, which is outside its legal jurisdiction and unlawful in the land.
Mr Fred Mutanda the Chair of FOSMM stated that no application was made for the recognition by a Court of law in SA of the authority of the Administrator appointed in terms of the Reconstruction Law to act on behalf of SMM.
Responding to FOSMM’s application on September 2, Ramaphosa’s legal team said they would oppose the application on September 15, when the case will be heard.
SMM, formerly owned by businessman Mr Mutumwa Mawere owns asbestos mines—Shabanie in Zvisvavane and Gaths in Mashava. Both mines ceased operations one and half decades ago due to lack of funding and corporate conflicts.
It was placed under reconstruction in terms of Presidential Powers (Temporary Measures) (Reconstruction of State-Indebted Insolvent Companies) Act on September 16, 2004 and confirmed by the High Court on December 15 a year later, under the instruction of then Justice minister Patrick Chinamasa.
Chinamasa appointed SMM Holdings administrator Afaras Gwaradzimba, who allegedly sold the land under the company’s mining leases, with the land set to be converted into residential stands.
By Dr Masimba Mavaza | The police have taken the war against piracy to another level. As from last week the police have started to fine the passengers who are found in the pirate taxis otherwise known as Mushikashika. The situation in our transport sector has reached another level.
The police have invoked a law that doesn’t make sense.
Passengers stranded at bus stop
In most cases authorities have a habit of being hard of hearing and passing laws that make little sense without consulting the relevant stakeholders. Legally speaking in democratic societies the government sits down with all stakeholders and discuss any new law while it is still a draft. This wide consultation gives every citizen a duty to own each law and it becomes easy to implement such laws.
This law to fine the passengers is the law drafted and implemented by the police? Secondary legislation is law created by ministers (or other bodies) under powers given to them by an Act of Parliament.
It is used to fill in the details of Acts (primary legislation). These details provide practical measures that enable the law to be enforced and operate in daily life.
Secondary legislation can be used to set the date for when provisions of an Act will come into effect as law, or to amend existing laws.
For example, governments often use secondary legislation to ban new substances in response to new information about their dangers by adding them to a list under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
Sometimes the government department come up with what is called Statutory Instrument.
Statutory Instruments (SIs) are documents drafted by a government department to make changes to the law. They are published with an explanatory memorandum, which outlines the purpose of the SI and why the change is necessary. They usually have either rule, order or regulation in their title.
Parliament can either approve or reject an SI, but cannot amend it. Parliament’s role in considering an SI varies depending on what is stated in its parent Act. There are some Statutory instruments which we call negative SI.
Negative SIs do not need active approval by Parliament. Usually negative SIs are made (signed by the minister) before being laid in Parliament.
They will automatically come into effect as law unless either House stops (annuls) them within a fixed period after they have been laid – usually 40 days, excluding days when both Houses are in recess or adjourned for more than four days.
The police’s latest hard pill to swallow is a $2000 ZWL fine that will be paid by passengers in a pirate vehicle.
Police gave their plausible reason for enforcing that law and outing the passengers on a naughty corner with a generous handshake.
“Police are urging people to use ZUPCO registered buses only to avoid being arrested.
The move by police to arrest passengers was necessitated by an increase in robbery and rape cases involving these illegal transport operators.
We want to warn motorists and bus operators who are disregarding government directives that police will not tire until they bring all culprits to book.
Among the buses impounded were those found ferrying people from one City to the other taking advantage of the green light given to legal operators to ferry school children.
Police discovered that some operators ferried passengers from one City to the other who were not school children.
All local school children are urged to use ZUPCO registered buses and omnibuses only and police will be visible in all street corners and roads to monitor safe movement of legal transport operators.
The ZRP’s statement on the new law.”
I have requested the police to provide me with the exact legislation which imposes a fine on the passenger. I am still waiting for the citation.
While we are waiting it is very naive of the law to punish citizens in order to protect them. Being protected must not be painful. It must be a pleasure. Laws must not thump press the delicate parts of the masses. They will be bound to react.
As a party in government ZANU PF is digging its grave by allowing such unreasonable laws to sail through.
There are people real people with flesh and blood. Real people suffering in the streets of Harare when it comes the time to go home. The people are in long queues waiting for the registered Zupco bus. In that queue there are nice people vana Mhofu who are exposed to the pick pocketers vana Nyamuziwa. We have mother’s and small children screaming their lungs out so that they can get a sit in the overcrowded ZUPCO. The question are as long as the whole night. Can you imagine what these desperate tired angry citizens are discussing in those long queues. Are we really serious right now.
We must remember that it is the party which leads the government. Such laws which directly pains the masses are not good for the party. We are digging our own graves and we must start now to cover these graves. Real people are in the queue and they are our loved ones and our voters.
We can not sit as if we are before a barber while children and our wives are screaming in a long queues to pay a fine and again a long queue to go home before they pay a fine. As a party we must wake up. The situation we are creating is counter productive and we must boldly take action to make things right.
We know that public transport is key to so many of the agendas that matter for government and smooth rule. Getting more people into buses and public transport will reduce complains and congestion’s in the streets of Zimbabwean towns. This will reduce our carbon emissions, improve our air quality and as every bus journey comes with a walk to at least the bus stop it will also help to get people active. We also need to ensure all communities are well served and have the option of a good and reliable service. Despite the importance of a well controlled public transport in so many of these areas it has been in decline for years. We need to address the decline of the bus industry if we are to achieve our ambitions to provide public transport, climate change, air quality and public health.
The pandemic has thrown the problem into a harsh new light. The entire bus industry became insufficient overnight and has become a serious pain in the posterior.
Trying to fix this by killing the alternative is like shooting your own foot.
Bringing sanity to our transport system cannot simply be an attempt to rebuild what has gone before, the bus industry has been in long term decline and going back to what we had before and expecting a different set of results is not a responsible way to govern. Instead, we must use local governments and central governments’ funding, infrastructure and traffic powers to work in partnership with public transport providers in fishing out rogue transport providers without punishing the victims twice.
Local government will play a pivotal role in ensuring the policies we need for a recovery are co-ordinated at the local level and suit the circumstances of the hugely diverse bus markets operating across the country.
Many places in the our cities continue to have poor public transport system. Public transport, and the bus in particular, must provide more journeys and carry more passengers in the cities if we are going to tackle these issues.
Public transport is a basic need and it is the duty of the government to provide it.
The basic needs approach is one of the major approaches to the measurement of absolute poverty in developing countries. It attempts to define the absolute minimum resources necessary for long-term physical well-being, usually in terms of consumption goods. The poverty line is then defined as the amount of income required to satisfy those needs.
Providing decent public transport system is a legal duty to be fulfilled by the government. In our Campaign for 2023 as a party we must work for Better Transport system for our people.
Before imposing these fines without providing an alternative
the police and the local government must follow normal public law obligations to act fairly, rationally and lawfully, and for proper purposes.
They also have to follow specific statutory duties. Statutory duties are laws that come from Parliament. If there is a failure to comply with these public law duties, it might be appropriate to challenge the local authority, the police and those in charge of these absurd fines. As far as the local authorities are concerned there must be a clear line between what they are allowed to do and what they must do.
A statutory duty is an obligation on the local authority. If they fail to follow these duties the court can force them to.
A statutory power gives the local authority discretion whether to act. They must still follow the other normal public law duties, as explained above, but at the end of the day they can use their power, or decide not to. In some cases the difference between the two is not clear cut. For example there might be an underlying duty, but the local authority might have discretion to decide exactly how the duty applies in their area.
The provision of public transport is a basic human right.
With major uncertainty around the demand for travel and changing patterns of usage, brought about by the COVID-19 crisis, there is concern at all levels of government about how local public transport services can be delivered sustainably while also being made more attractive.
It is very true that the current funding and regulatory regime of bus and public transport provision is no longer fit for purpose. There must be a thrust towards providing more buses and solve the transport blues. We can not afford to alienate our urban voters now. It is cowardice to beat a person who is already down.
The Party therefore, must seek to influence the formation and delivery of the Government’s national bus strategy in the context of a holistic consideration of public transport. With this in mind, the ZANU PF must undertake research to initiate a debate on the future of public transport in Zimbabwe with a focus on local bus services either owned by city councils or local government.
Before we burden the already burdened passengers we must make sure that there is a sufficient alternative to replace the mushikasika.
It is the role of councils and local government to set out policies and objectives for local transport, and to manage the spending of local government transport budgets. They have certain duties, such as:
Statutory requirements around the provision of more transport;
The chaos exhibited at every rush hour resembles a dog’s breakfast. The provision of Zupco buses does not consider the needs of elderly and disabled individuals. People are not put in proper safe terminuses thereby exposing the to thieves. A journey back home is stressful and killing.
The bus service must be made more attractive so that people make a choice which is not motivated by a punishment.
ZANU PF and local authorities must address the decline in bus use that has been seen in recent decades, and they recognise that making bus services more attractive is key to achieving this. As well as the many benefits that arise from providing an effective public transport network, desires for improvements are, in part, driven by the high expectations from the public to have attractive, easily accessible and affordable services. They must see this as a way to connect new communities, reduce Mushikashika dependency and congestion.
In this global village it is easy to understand what attractive services look like and as a party we must have a strong desire to be able to deliver best practice solutions.
The party must ensure that there is a Fast, frequent bus services, including bus priority measures – reducing journey times also reduces operating costs; dealing with the long queues once and for all makes people shun Mushikashika without paying a fine. Imposing a fine only helps to make people enemies of the law. Hard laws are never obeyed. There must be Integration of the physical network between modes including bus terminuses and connectivity with mobility hubs such as revamping our rail system and introduce tram services and have an active travel time table on every bus station. All the transport system needs Branding, marketing, and easy access to information for transport users, planners, and partners.
The party must show a desire to embrace innovative practices in order to deal with the persistent problems, tackle specific contextual issues (e.g. providing attractive rural networks), and address the new challenges which have been presented by COVID-19.
In doing this, authorities must raise the need for a stronger commitment to delivering best practice in development planning, for example:
We must Develop liveable neighbourhoods which reduce the need for non-local travel in general, but which particularly aim to break the need for car ownership.;It is the duty of the government and the party to endure that all new developments have public transport access for when travel is needed. This must be provided in early phases of development occupation in order to lock-in positive travel behaviours.
It is very patriotic to realise that the kombi ban has actually created two crises in one single stroke. All the young and able-bodied tens of thousands who were employed in the sector suddenly found themselves without a job in the midst of a pandemic. Again there is no alternative employment for them.
Secondly, the banning of kombis has brought untold suffering to the wider public who are no safer than before the ban. They have to spent time in crowded filthy ZUPCO buses that are no safer than the kombis and do not even adhere to COVID-19 guidelines set by the government itself. Most have had to make do with illegal transport operators knowns as Mushikashika. There is more risk of catching COVID-19 as a result of this ban. Mushikashika will be a thing of the past if we are able to create the alternative.
The party and the local transport authorities must secure the provision of appropriate services to meet public transport requirements. In practice this means that where it is socially necessary to have a bus service, but the bus operators will not run a bus commercially, local authorities step in and subsidise a bus service or part of a bus service.
On a serious note fining passengers is is not a noble idea. Our only hope lies in the fact that like headless chickens the authorities will pass another equally silly law. A-la-SI-127-of-2021 and the police who are tasked with enforcing them will be so distracted trying to enforce this new silly and too tired to bother us on our way home. – [email protected]

By A Correspondent- Sungura Maestro Alick Macheso’s dancer Selemani Mpochi popularly known as Majuice was last week arrested on allegations of drugging and raping his 17-year-old girlfriend.
Mpochi (34) was facing rape charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi.
He was remanded out of custody on his own recognition.
The court heard that on August 20 the complainant sent a text message to the dancer begging him to drive her to Kuwadzana the following day for a party.
It is alleged that the next day Mpochi met the complainant and they proceeded to Kuwadzana where he dropped her and went away.
At around 5 pm on the same day, the complainant sent a message to Mpochi advising him that she was not feeling comfortable at the party. She told him to come and pick her up.
The court heard that Mpochi drove and picked the complainant and went to a certain house in Crowborough phase 3 where they entered into a room and sat on the bed.
Mpochi allegedly gave the complainant beer and left to buy her food.
It is the State’s case that Mpochi came back and started caressing the complainant who allegedly told him to stop what he was doing.
The court heard that Mpochi went on to have sexual intercourse with the complainant once without her consent.
After the act, it is alleged, Mpochi drove the complainant to her house where she arrived late.
It is alleged that her mother asked her why she had come back home late and she first lied to her only to reveal the truth the following day to her friend and the matter was reported to the police leading to Mpochi’s arrest.
Teachers and other school support staff are facing a nightmare to get to their respective stations ahead of full schools opening tomorrow after it emerged that inter-city buses are still banned except for pupils only.
Further, the teachers and the staff are also complaining that in the absence of the buses they have been forced to opt for unscrupulous private operators who are demanding exorbitant fares in foreign currency which they cannot afford since they are paid in local currency.
Sunday News yesterday discovered that some pirate taxis were yesterday charging double fares for most distances. After the reopening of the three examination classes (Upper Six, Form Four and Grade Seven) last week, schools are expected to welcome back the rest of learners tomorrow.
Last week, some teachers said they tried to use buses which were availed for pupils but were made to disembark at roadblocks after police indicated that they were only allowing pupils to be ferried by their school buses.
Most schools in rural areas do not have school buses and teachers will be coming from different areas, making the arrangement a nightmare. The development comes as police yesterday reiterated that inter-city travel was still banned and they will be out in full force to ensure only buses carrying pupils will be allowed.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that under the current Level IV Covid-19 regulations, inter-city movements are still prohibited.“Only commercial cargo and essential services are allowed. Therefore, inter-city travelling by bus operators remains banned unless such operators are doing so to transport children as stated by the Government of Zimbabwe.
“Police at all check points will ensure safety and ease of passage for buses carrying learners back to school without any delay. Bus operators who take advantage of the Government’s reprieve only to abuse it by transporting ordinary passengers and not school children will risk being arrested and their buses impounded,” national police spokesman AssistantCommissioner Paul Nyathi said in a statement.
Zimbabwe Teachers Union (Zimta) chief executive officer Dr Sifiso Ndlovu told Sunday News yesterday that teachers had been struggling to get transport over the week as most operators were refusing to accept payment in local currency.“From what we have heard today from our members, there is no transport and those that are transporting people are asking for foreign currency.
The problem is that teachers have had to run around and change money from the streets. This is something that the Ministry of Finance and Development should look into because we believe people should accept local currency, whether it comes as EcoCash or as physical money.
“Now it seems that teachers have committed a crime for having local currency. They are not saying that they don’t want to go to work, they are saying they are being hindered by resources. It is better for those that work within Bulawayo because the transporters accept local currency but those in the rural areas have had to rely on getting lifts from well-wishers,” he said.
Dr Ndlovu said that teachers had sent an appeal to Government with the hope of getting assistance on time for the opening of schools.“Those in Matabeleland have been saying that they are trying to make plans with their directors so that they can consult Government to provide transport for them. As of today, there had been no reply as yet and the problem is that they are already supposed to be returning to work.
“Efforts are still being made to ensure that this happens but as of now, teachers are running out of time. Our wish was that the Government finds a way of helping those teachers that cannot reach their work stations by providing public transport buses,” he said.
Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) president Mr Takavafira Zhou said there had been no communication from authorities on how teachers were supposed to return to work.“There is virtually no communication pertaining to this important aspect that must be addressed if schools are to successfully open.
As PTUZ we appealed to Government to pay a rescue package that would enable teachers to pay fees for their own children, enable them to travel to their respective stations and sustain them until pay day but this has not been addressed,” he said. However, Director of Information and Advocacy in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Mr Taungana Ndoro said while the ministry was ready for the reopening of schools, the provision of transport did not fall under its purview.
“Our mandate as the Ministry is to provide wholesome education to learners. Transport provision does not fall under our purview. Perhaps the Ministry of Transport or Zupco would be better placed to comment on that. As the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, we are ready to provide quality and wholesome education to learners as from Monday,” he said.
By Aziza Yaqub | ZimEye | The United States completed the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan on August 30, a day ahead of schedule, as the final flight left Kabul last Monday night.
As America’s 20-year war in Afghanistan came to a closure, celebratory gunfire could be heard across the city of Kabul with Afghanistan left in the Taliban’s hands and its fate unclear.
On August 26, a series of suicide attacks killed as many as 180 people, including 13 American troops, two British nationals and child lost their lives in the deadliest attack since February 2020.
General McKenzie said they flew more than 12,000 people from Afghanistan since July, but not as many as hoped, admitting “we did not get everybody out that we wanted to get out”.
He added: “Tonight’s withdrawal signifies both the end of the military component of the evacuation, but also the end of the nearly 20 year mission that began in Afghanistan shortly after September 11 2001.”
Meanwhile, it was said the UK has evacuated more than 15,000 people since August.
Chief of joint operations, Vice Admiral Sir Ben Key told the BBC, “I think we always knew that somewhere we would fall just short, so this isn’t a moment of celebration for us at all.”
He added: “This is a moment to mark a tremendous international effort to evacuate as many people as we could in the time available. That sense of sadness that we haven’t done all we would have wished.”
In a separate press conference at the end of August, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid told reporters, the Taliban’s victory was a “lesson for other invaders… and congratulations to Afghanistan… this victory belongs to us all.”
He added: “We want to have good relations with the US and the world. We welcome good diplomatic relations with them all.”
Last Monday night’s pull-out left behind thousands of Afghans who are Green Card holders, British, American and foreign citizens in the new Taliban regime.
Despite the Taliban’s assurances of women rights, peace and amnesty, there are fears that the group will reinstate their violent form of Sharia law.
General McKenzie told reporters his government had “brought Osama Bin Laden to a just end, along with many of his al Qaeda co-conspirators”, and that it was “not a cheap mission.”
As the US withdrawal from Afghanistan came to an end last Monday night, the fate and future of Afghanistan fell onto the Taliban’s hands.
Full Scale Invasion.
All this happened just as the then Afghan President Ashraf Ghani sounded out to the US that a full scale invasion was underway so military assistance was still needed. Ghani had told US president Joe Biden via phone: “Mr. President, we are facing a full-scale invasion, composed of Taliban, full Pakistani planning and logistical support, and at least 10-15,000 international terrorists, predominantly Pakistanis thrown into this, so that dimension needs to be taken account of.”
THE Government has assured civil servants that they will receive their bonus for this year while it also keeps on improving conditions of service and provision of other non-monetary benefits.
The Government pays bonus to its workers in phases with the first group getting it in November while other workers are paid in December. There are doubts among companies, especially in the private sector, on whether they will be able to pay the 13th cheque as production has been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the Government, with two months before the traditional bonus month of November, has assured its workers that the money will be paid on time. In an interview in Bulawayo yesterday, Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube said civil servants should expect their bonus on time.
“There is always a 13th cheque for civil servants, always, so they can expect one, we have not changed that. It will be paid on time,” he said.
In addition, since January, the Government has been making regular salary adjustments to its employees while pension payouts have also been adjusted to cushion pensioners. In July civil servants received a salary increase of between 45 and 50 percent.
The increase came after, in April, the Government had made another increase of 25 percent in addition to a host of non-monetary benefits. The Government has also indicated that it will soon meet civil servants’ representatives to discuss new salary levels and other non-monetary issues.
“There are loans that have been available to civil servants so that they can start businesses, there was also a vehicle scheme to import vehicles duty free, it has been rolling for about 10 years and is pending renewal. We are also looking at the issue of housing. We are working on providing civil servants with accommodation and this is gradually happening,” said Deputy Minister for Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Cde Lovemore Matuke in an interview earlier.
He said some of the options for improving the welfare of teachers and other workers were to come from the unions that represent the civil servants themselves as they know and understand what is best for them. The Apex Council representatives, who represent civil servants, said they were impressed with the salary increments for civil servants as the Government had kept its promise of improving the lives and welfare of its workers.
Croatian football legend and The Blazers’ World Cup hero Mario Mandzukic has retired from football at the age of 35, three years after playing his last international game.
Mandzukic, who scored the winning goal against England in the semifinals of the World Cup in 2018, announced his decision in a post on Instagram, which included a photo of a pair of boots, on Friday night.
In a message written in English and addressed to his young self, “Dear little Mario”, and signed “Your big Mario”, Mandzukic wrote:
While you put on these boots for the first time, you can’t even imagine what you will get to experience in football.
You’ll recognize the moment to retire, to put these boots in a cabinet and you’ll have no regrets.
You will score goals on the biggest stages and win the biggest trophies in the jerseys of the biggest clubs.
In the jersey of greatest pride, the Croatian national team, you will write some of the most important moments of Croatian sport.
Mandzukic appeared 89 times for Croatia scoring 33 goals, he also for played Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus and appeared 11 times this year for AC Milan.
Plagued by injury he was used mostly as a substitute and did not score a goal.
He won the Croatian league three times with Dinamo Zagreb, the Bundesliga, twice, and the Champions League at Bayern, and Serie A four times at Juventus.
Juventus, Croatian sports stars Miralem Pjanic, tennis player Marin Cilic and NBA small forward Bojan Bogdanovic all joined the online chorus of praise as did Blaise Matuidi (French midfielder), an opponent in the 2018 World Cup final and team-mate at Juventus.
Croatian coach Zlatko Dalic thanked Mandzukic in a statement calling him “a fighter on whom the team could always rely, a player for big games and the toughest challenges”.
Born in Slavonski Brod, Mandzukic began his career in 2004 at home town club Marsonia. He signed his first major contract with Dinamo Zagreb in 2007.
He then played for Wolfsburg (2010-2012), Bayern Munich (2012-2014), Atletico Madrid (2014-2015) and Juventus (2015-2019). -IOL
All students will be back at school tomorrow but the availability of teachers in schools is not guaranteed.
Fundamentally, teachers have no money to pay fees for their own children, pay for transport costs to their respective stations, and for their upkeep up to their September pay day. To assume that teachers can borrow money in order to go to their respective stations whilst their own children remain confined at home is oxymoronic.
Contrary to Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s facade of lies to the effect that schools are ready to open, the five days of school opening for exam classes has shown beyond any reasonable doubt all signs of ill-preparedness in form of no running water in schools, no covid abatement equipment in schools, no recruitment of many teachers to guarantee appropriate teacher : pupil ration, no new infrastructural development to guarantee social distance.
As we warned, there are two schools in Manicaland where students tested positive to covid 19, the latest being Kriste Mambo High, where 9 students tested positive out of 18 students tested on day 5 after opening. There are several reports of students exhibiting covid 19 symptoms in schools. As such, we reiterate that the conglomeration of more than 140000 teachers, more than 5 million pupils and over 80 000 ancillary staff in schools without any testing is a time bomb that can explode with disastrous consequences.
We reiterate that without a rescue package to enable incapacitated teachers to travel to their respective stations, there will be no teachers in schools. There is, therefore, need to guarantee the welfare of teachers, let alone the health and safety of teachers and pupils. The incapacitation struggle of teachers will therefore continue unabated this week. The unity of teachers will guarantee its success, while fear, docility and borrowing and indetedness of teachers will entrench their’ suffering. Teachers, therefore, have a choice either to collectively liberate themselves or entrench their immiseration, disarticulation and poverty, let alone compromise their health and safety.
ZVISHAVANE -A Zvishavane man has appeared in court for stealing 20 bags of cement at an under construction Zaoga church building in Maglas.
Shephard Banda (30) of house number 3619 in Mandava was remanded in custody to a later date for judgment by Zvishavane Magistrate Evia Matura on Tuesday.
The State led by Privilege Chikiwa said that Banda stole the cement from a shade at the church between Saturday evening and Monday morning when the premises were left unguarded. The shade had 221 bags of cement. Two builders Thandi Pass and Blessed Dzimba who are working on the church building discovered the theft on Monday morning.
The two informed a church elder Misheck Nyakura who filed a Police report.
Nyakura received a tip-off that Banda was selling cheap cement in Eastval and informed investigating Police officers.
The Police officers interviewed Banda who confessed to theft and led them to a bushy area where they recovered five bags of cement.- The Mirror

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance has challenged the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa to stop punishing passengers for his own blunders.

MDC Alliance on Mshikashika Fines
Ever since the introduction of ZUPCO as the sole mass public transporter in Zimbabwe, the MDC Alliance led by President Chamisa had warned the government of the dire consequences of this unreasonable move.
Consequences of monopolisising the transport sector more so with an inept government controlled company with a deep history of failure were foreseeable from the start.
ZUPCO is not not capable to serve the growing mass travellers both intra and inter city.
The failure by ZUPCO to serve the public has created an opportunity for private players to serve the needy travellers.
Most of these private players have always been registered as Transporters but have been pushed out of business at the introduction of ZUPCO as the sole transporter. What government needs to realise is that, the ZUPCO registered vehicles are too few as compared to the demand by travellers.
This therefore means that faced with a crippling shortage of transport, travellers will resort to private players.
In an attempt to curb the spread of the deadly Covid disease, a people centred government would have allowed registered private transporters to ferry people under a regulated environment which includes : 1- Reduced number of passengers in order to allow for social distancing.
Three quarters of normal carrying capacity is recommended.
Regular sanitization of the vehicle at the end of each trip.
Insistence of masks on all passengers on board.
The insistence of government on the current ZUPCO model where in the buses are always over Loaded and do not observe any Covid protocol simply corroborates the fact that the ZUPCO initiative is one among many of the looting vehicles by close ascosiates to Zanupf leadership.
It’s not about the people but always about profiteering at every opportunity. Demanding fines from passengers of private vehicles is an unimaginable act from a careless government which do not deserve any day longer in Office.

Mdc Alliance Namibia mourns the untimely death of a millennial voter, Phineas ‘Phincho’ Zvidzayi.
04 September 2021
A dark cloud has covered Mdc Alliance Namibia Rundu Branch as the external assembly loses the political generator in the national democratic revolution. It is quite pathetic for the Zvidzayi and Mdc Alliance family at large to lose an energetic 28 year old revolutionary who had a great vision and insatiable appetite to see a functional and Great Zimbabwean society. The youthful leader Phineas Zvidzayi passed on Thursday morning in the location of Kehemu in Rundu , Namibia. What is absolutely perturbing is that our young leader committed suicide and there was no suicide note left for us to comprehend the reason for this suicidal resolution.
As social democrats we are convinced that when it comes to determining what causes suicide, there are a number of reasons why someone would want to take their own life. We have the conviction that depression was the major cause of suicide because deep depressive thoughts are typically accompanied with a sense of suffering and feeling of cynicism as well as disillusionment. Mdc Alliance Namibia would like to seriously condemn the Harare regime for their dismal failure to address socio-economic issues in our motherland. Phineas Zvidzayi was a well-trained panel beater, what he only wanted was a people driven government that would put the economy on a sounder footing. The cause of suicide was Zanupf’s gross misgovernance manifesting in corruption and theft stealing the hope of youthful Zimbabweans who are now scattered around the world.
Moreso, Mdc Alliance Namibia also suspects that the millennial generation suffered from social isolation from his close relatives to whom he could confide because of his geographical location. The perceived threat of isolation brewed great disillusionment and that probably triggered the resolve to commit suicide. We still believe that Cde Phineas Zvidzayi resorted to committing suicide as a sure way of escaping Zanupf’s insensitivity to the security and well-being of the youths. The deceased survived with a wife and a single child, may the Almighty comfort the bereaved Zvidzayi family and the entire Mdc Alliance family. “Rest in peace my friend, brother and cadre. We shall soldier on with the national democratic revolution to its logical conclusion. Your revolutionary spirit shall continue to inspire more in Rundu and the globe”, said Mdc Alliance Namibia Rundu Branch Spokesperson Robson Ruhanya.
In a nutshell, solidarity is a core value in Social Democracy. We shall do whatever it takes to repatriate the body of the deceased youthful leader. “It’s quite unfortunate that you died before you collected your revolutionary membership card. Go well, go well millennial generation. Lets all offer solidarity to the bereaved Zvidzayi family”, Mdc Alliance Namibia Rundu Branch Secretary General Simbarashe Ndoda echoed. Mdc Alliance Namibia Rundu Branch shall forever celebrate your contribution to the existence the vibrant branch. Rest in power our cadre!

Anyone who knows Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic will testify that he is very quick to do two things, eloquently-respond to questions and give excuses.
Even before the match, It was as clear as daylight, that the firebrand Croat will cite the unavailability of some key players and lack of match fitness, if his charges fail to beat South Africa in yesterday’s World Cup qualifier.
Your guess is as good as ours, he did.
‘It was a difficult game, and I will give you a few thoughts. You could see at the end of the game that we had a problem with match fitness, because only four of our players are playing regularly at their clubs,” he told the media after the game.
“We have (Onismor) Bhasera, Marshall (Munetsi), Khama (Billiat) and (Knowledge) Musona, who are playing regularly at their clubs, the rest of our players are not playing regularly. The boys from Zambia are in pre-season, the boys from South Africa they don’t play regularly- for example, (Kuda) Mahachi doesn’t play, (Divine) Lunga doesn’t play and even Alec too, doesn’t play,” added Logarusic.
One might want to sanitize what happened yesterday, but objectively-speaking, Logarusic’s charges were very fortunate to have come out with a point.
Takudzwa Chimwemwe’s heroic clearance off the line just after the hour-mark, turned out to be a huge difference-maker.
Put simply, despite playing at home, the Warriors barely-tested Rowan Williams, in goal for Bafana Bafana.
Khama Billiat’s shot, which was parried away by the SuperSport United goalkeeper, was the closest Zimbabwe came to breaking the deadlock.
They simply lacked that hunger to win the game, with big goalkeeper Talbert Shumba, on several occasions, slowing-down the game and taking his time to release the ball.
In fact, Shumba’s lack of urgency frustrated the Warriors coaches, who simultaneously-yelled at the Free State Stars goalie, late in the second half.
“We will be told as the week progresses, inevitably, that the absence of key players was the difference, but a team with Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat, Tino Kadewere, and Marshall Munetsi, should be winning a game against South Africa.
Spare us the excuses please, we failed, we were just not good enough, period.”- Soccer24 Zimbabwe
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says he is happy with today’s goalless draw against Zimbabwe and its a fair result.
The two neighbors could not be separated in a World Cup qualifier Group G clash and had to settle for a share of spoils.
Broos believes it was a good result as both teams did not do enough to win the game.
“I’m happy with a draw today because none of the two teams had the chances to win the game. Both teams had a few chances but not more than that,” the Belgian tactician told the media after the game.
“I’m happy with a point, I said that before the game. We could have gotten something out of today but okay, the game is 0-0,” added Broos.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

By A Correspondent- A Bulawayo man brutally attacked his mother-in-law with a brick on the head, left hand and knee as punishment after the latter restrained him from bashing her daughter whom he accused of having an extra-marital affair.
Pathisani Moyo, 36, from New Luveve, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Stephen Ndhlovu facing two counts of assault.
He pleaded guilty to the charges before he was orded to pay a fine of $5 000. If he defaults on payment, he will serve three months in prison.
Moyo told the court that he was angered after discovering that his wife was having an extra-marital affair.
“I lost my temper after I discovered that my wife was having an extra-marital affair,” said Moyo.
It is the State’s case that on 20 August 2021 at around 3 pm Moyo sent a message to his mother-in-law Sphiwe Dube, who stays in the Matsheumhlope suburb, stating that he was coming to her place of residence.
When he arrived, he started accusing his wife who was at her parents’ house of infidelity and a misunderstanding ensued.
Out of anger, Moyo picked up a brick and struck his wife on the head and right toes several times.
Seeing that her daughter was under attack, Sphiwe tried to intervene but she got more than she had bargained for when Moyo also attacked her with the same brick on the head, hand and on the knee.
Both Yvonne and her mother sustained injuries as a result of the attack and were referred to the hospital for medical examination.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Moyo’s arrest, B-Metro reports.
A Zimbabwe university has raised eyebrows after it published a dress code which critics claim unfairly targets women. The Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) warned that lecturers have the power to bar students who violate the dress code from attending lectures.
In a notice to all students, the office of the registrar at ZEGU wrote,
OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR
2021 STUDENTS HANDBOOK & DRESS CODE NOTICE
Please be advised that the new 2021 Students Handbook was uploaded on student portals. Students are encouraged to take time to familiarize with the rules and code of conduct in the 2021 Student Handbook.
UNIVERSITY DRESS CODE
By A Correspondent- Sungura Maestro Alick Macheso’s dancer Selemani Mpochi popularly known as Majuice has been arrested on allegations of raping his 17-year-old girlfriend.

Out of the 11, seven are from Gweru Urban and four Vungu Rural District, respectively.
The councillors who left the Nelson Chamisa-led political party on Thursday attended a meeting held at Town House chaired by MDC-T secretary for local government, Faith Musarurwa Kamutsungira.
Councillors who dumped MDC Alliance at Gweru City Council are Notal Dzika (ward 8), Charles Chikozho (ward 10), Trust Chinese (ward 15), Catherine Mhondiwa (ward 13), Tawanda Magidi (ward 16), Doubt Ncube (ward 3), Farai Muza (ward 17), Godfrey Giwa (ward 6), Gideon Mugariri (ward 7), John Manyundwa (ward 18) and Edson Kurebgaseka (ward 9).

The four Vungu councillors who have jumped ship are Benjamin Mpala (ward 7), Spiwe Moyo (ward 8), Nyika Parirenyatwa (ward 16) and Restart Muswere (ward 10) and were part of the MDC-T indaba.
MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube yesterday confirmed the defections, but said the councillors were always part of the political party. “MDC-T is the parent party to MDC Alliance and not vice-versa,” Dube said.
“The councillors who came were always members of the MDC-T first before they were erroneously said to have joined another issue (sic).”
Last week, MDC Alliance Midlands spokesperson Takavafira Zhou said those “who wanted to leave were free to go as MDC Alliance was never short of candidates”.
Recently, Chamisa said MPs and councillors were defecting from his party due to poverty.
M LF became popular when its members burnt the Zimbabwean flag in South Africa in 2011 while protesting for the restoration of Mthwakazi state.

By A Correspondent- With 2023 elections drawing closer, a new political party, that has promised to revive the country’s struggling economy, has been launched.
Freedom of Rights Under Sovereign (FORUS) party was launched in Harare Thursday and is led by Manyara Irene Muyenziwa.
Speaking to the media after the launch, Muyenziwa said she would never join Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) to allay her critics who believe she formed the political formation to get a vehicle.
Last month, President Emmerson Mnangagwa donated over a dozen vehicles to political principals who are part of his brainchild POLAD project.
Critics have accused Mnangagwa of abusing government resources at a time when the state failing to equip struggling hospitals with ambulances.
“We are an independent party, we are not going to join POLAD and what we are trying to do is seek new reforms on the best way on tackling whatever negotiations or issues that are at hand,” Muyenziwa.
The new political leader says she is based abroad but did not reveal where. She is also involved in running various unnamed business ventures and humanitarian work.
“So we are a new party and we are trying to come with new resolutions, new ideas, new ways of looking at things.
“So, as a new party we are not going to go into the old negotiations of whatever is taking place we are trying to find and seek new reforms as a new party,” she said.
“We are trying to emancipate ourselves, amongst ourselves. We never thought we could get to this point whereby a black man is enslaving another black man in an indirect way and that is what FORUS is for.
“We are going to bring the proper true democracy that will emancipate all Zimbabweans so that they can reach out for the stars so that they can understand that it is doable.
“Our aim is to see a free and open society where there is a balance on the basic fundamental human rights where there is a guarantee that no one will be enslaved by poverty, corruption, or violence,” she said.

Momberume, who is being represented by Brian Majamanda of Khuphe and Chijara Law Associates, appeared in prison garbs before Magistrate Prisca Manhibi on Friday and was not asked to plead.
On 20 August, he appeared before regional Magistrate Lucy-Anne Mungwari who remanded him in custody to 3 September.
The state, represented by Tirivanhu Mutyasira and Jonathan Chingwinyiso, alleged that Momberume had sexual intercourse with a minor.
The state further alleged on an unknown date in 2020, the accused fell in love with the now-deceased Anna Machaya, knowing she was born on 5 July 2006. The prosecutors said:
On a date unknown but in April 2021, Anna Machaya eloped to the accused and they started staying together purportedly as husband and wife.
During the period extending 2020 to 15 July 2021, the accused had sexual intercourse with Anna Machaya leading to Anna falling pregnant and gave birth to a baby on 15 July 2021 at Johanne Marange Apostolic Church shrine.
On the murder count, the state says the accused unlawfully caused the death of Anna Machaya by impregnating her and failing to take her to receive healthcare services during her labour. Said Mutyasira:
Instead, the accused person took Annah Machaya to Johanne Marange traditional midwives where she delivered and died after some labour complications.
He thereafter secretly buried her without notifying the authorities of her death.

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says intercity travel remains banned under current lockdown regulations, with only learners returning to school allowed to travel.
In a statement this Saturday, Superintendent R Ncube, The Outpost Magazine editor, said besides schoolchildren, only commercial cargo and essential services will be permitted to pass through police checkpoints. The statement read:
The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that under the current Level IV COVID-19 regulations, intercity movements are still prohibited. Only commercial cargo and essential services are allowed.
Therefore, intercity travelling by bus operators remains banned unless such operators are doing so to transport school children as stated by the Government of Zimbabwe.
Police at all checkpoints will ensure the safe and easy passage of buses carrying learners back to school without any delay.
Bus operators who take advantage of the Government’s reprieve only to abuse it by transporting ordinary passengers and not school children will risk being arrested and their buses impounded.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police will be in full force monitoring transport operators who would want to take advantage of the pronouncement to carry and cash on other passengers during this school opening period.
Let’s observe the COVID-19 healthy and safety protocols and avoid unnecessary movements to curb the pandemic and ensure the safe travelling of learners back to school.

ZUPCO currently owns a fleet of 262 buses and at least 550 more from franchisees.

The Bank of Zambia has issued a statement in response to the cash shortages currently bedevilling the southern African country.
Bank of Zambia Assistant Director-Communications, Besnat Mwanza, said while they expected higher demand for cash as the crop marketing season is underway and also due to the general elections held recently, the demand has been more than anticipated.
Mwanza urged the transacting public to make use of electronic payment methods as they are not only convenient but also provide a safe means of transacting in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We publish the statement released by Mwanza today, Saturday 4 September 2021:
The Bank of Zambia has noted an unprecedented rise in demand for cash country-wide during the past few months.
This demand has been more than the expected seasonal increase in demand for currency during the crop marketing season and the general elections.
In this regard, the Bank, in collaboration with the commercial banks, has put in place measures to ensure that there are enough banknotes and coins in circulation throughout the country.
The Bank wishes to encourage members of the public to utilise alternative payment methods to cash such as Digital Financial Services in conducting transactions during this period.
These include the use of mobile money, mobile banking, debit or credit cards and electronic fund transfers through commercial banks.
Non-cash transactions allow members of the public to get the exact value for their money without any encumbrances for change as they pay for goods and services.
Members of the public are therefore urged, wherever possible, to only use cash where it is absolutely necessary.
Further, the country is still experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic and the use of electronic payment methods provide a safe means by which transactions can be undertaken.
The Bank thus encourages the public to use electronic payment methods as they are safer, quicker and are provided at a lower cost.
By A Correspondent- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s estranged wife, Marry Chiwenga, says things are not looking good for her following her hospitalisation last week after her health continued to deteriorate.
The former top model claims she has not received financial assistance from her former husband or from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government.
Marry (40) is hospitalised at a Harare private hospital where she continues to battle lymphedema, which has resulted in her sustaining swollen legs and hands.
Speaking to NewsDay on Tuesday, Marry said her major concern was her financial incapacitation and failure to get access to her three children. She said:
Things are not looking good for me, I am really sick. I have been in and out of the hospital in the last couple of months and have been admitted for close to two weeks now.
I have asked and asked and even asked President Emmerson Mnangagwa for financial assistance, but nothing has come my way.
Despite her condition, Marry has been confined to Zimbabwe where she is failing to acquire adequate medical care since the courts have denied her access to her passport.
Meanwhile, Chiwenga, who is sick and requires constant medical attention, has the privilege of flying to China periodically.
Marry is embroiled in a nasty divorce with the former military commander whom she married under customary law in July 2011 and sired three children together.
Chiwenga filed for divorce after recovering from a life-threatening illness in 2019.
Marry is also facing charges of fraud, money laundering and attempted murder of her estranged husband.
She, however, denies the charges and, instead, accuses Chiwenga of approaching the court with dirty hands and fabricating the allegations in order to gain an upper hand in their pending divorce case.

Parents with children enrolled at Solusi Adventist High School have raised an outcry after the school reportedly demanded that they pay an extra US$100 towards fees.
The parents claimed Solusi had effected a 33 per cent school fees hike and now required an additional US$100 for every child.
They said the additional charge does not appear on the school’s fee quotation sheet while authorities also failed to give a convincing explanation.
Parents also accused the school of not clearing children whose parents were paying fees in Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS).
Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Director of Communications and Advocacy, Taungana Ndoro said they have not approved any fee hike and urged parents to report this matter at their district education office. Ndoro said:
No school fees went up by 33 per cent. It’s the number of days that increased, not the approved fees per day.
Did they agree as parents and the school? They must report to the district office.
Parents allege that when they inquired on the School’s WhatsApp communication group, the SDC chairperson, Dumisani Ncube, “blocked the parents from commenting on the group and changed the function to allow only administrators to comment.”
The parents said:Parents’ complaints and requests on the school WhatsApp group fell on deaf ears while the SDC Chairman insisted on the payment of the US$100.
When parents pay what’s on the quotation form in RTGS they are denied clearance and their children will be denied access to board the bus or deny entry to school.
As school fees payments are underway, school authorities sent parents another communique on their WhatsApp group informing them that only cleared learners will depart from the Bulawayo City Hall at 8 am on 5 September 2021.
Contacted for comment, the Solusi SDC chairperson declined to comment and referred questions to the school. He said: “I am not the rightful person, contact the school.”

This comes after two armed robbers besieged a village in Muzarabani on Monday and stole property valued at US$ 4 827. Police said in the statement:
The ZRP urges members of the public to report all suspected firearm holders to the Police for verification of firearm licences and thwart incidences of robbery in communities.
This follows a robbery incident that occurred at Dzivamupamba Village, Muzarabani on 30/08/21, where two unknown suspects armed with an unidentified rifle besieged villagers and stole property valued at US$ 4 827.
The ZRP said they recovered 41 spent bore bullet heads on the scene and investigations carried so far have indicated that the suspects could be using a 12 Bore shotgun or a Mossberg shotgun.

By A Correspondent- Vice President Constantino Chiwenga wife, Marry, has reached out to President Emmerson Mnangagwa for medical financial assistance.
Marry told NewsDay Weekender that she reached out to the President after failing to get attention from her husband, Chiwenga.
The publication said the vice President’s wife claimed she had not received financial assistance from her husband or the government.
She wanted President Mnangagwa as the head of state and government to help her get funding for her medical bills.
Marry gets medical attention at a Harare private hospital, where she continues to battle lymphedema, which has resulted in her sustaining swollen legs and hands.
Marry told NewsDay Weekender on Tuesday that her primary concern was her financial incapacitation and failure to get access to her three children.
She said all was not well for her, with no one, including President Emmerson Mnangagwa, coming to her rescue.
“Things are not looking good for me, I am really sick. I have been in and out of hospital in the last couple of months and have been admitted for close to two weeks now,” the 40-year-old former top model said.
“I have asked and asked and even asked President Emmerson Mnangagwa for financial assistance, but nothing has come my way.” Mnangagwa has, however, in the past assisted Marry financially, particularly during the time when Chiwenga was hospitalised in China. Despite her condition, Marry has been confined to Zimbabwe where she is failing to acquire adequate medical care since the courts have denied her access to her passport, while Chiwenga, who is sick and requires constant medical attention, has the privilege of flying to China periodically.
A distraught Marry said all seemed to be crumbling in her face, with Chiwenga fighting her using all sorts of ammunition since the former Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander sensationally accused her of attempting to kill him while he was hospitalised in South Africa.
“My offices in Domboshava were taken away from me and armed Presidential Guard soldiers are posted there just like our home, my equipment is lying redundant that I bought from my own sources of income,” she said.
“As a result, I am faced with serious financial challenges such that I don’t even have money for my children’s school fees.”
Marry, who has two children from a previous marriage, said her parents had been supportive of her during the trying times.
“I thought that after my husband (Chiwenga) had healed, he would take care of me looking after my health as he knows I am not well, but we all know what happened,” she said.
Marry is embroiled in a nasty divorce with the former military commander whom she married under customary law in July 2011 and sired three children together. Chiwenga filed for divorce after recovering from a life-threatening illness in 2019.
Marry is also facing charges of fraud, money-laundering and attempted murder of her estranged husband. She, however, denies the charges and, instead, accuses Chiwenga of approaching the court with dirty hands and fabricating the allegations in order to gain an upper hand in their pending divorce case. Recently, she appealed to Mnangagwa to intervene and help her have access to her children. Contacted for comment, presidential spokesperson George Charamba said: “I have no interest in the NewsDay Weekender crew, I have nothing to say to you, write whatever you want. I can’t waste my voice sanitising what you would have written.

By A Correspondent- Private parts of one of last week’s Honde Valley road accident victims are missing.
Hauna District Hospital officials are the ones who discovered that one of the bodies had some missing private parts.
The deceased man’s family, Abel Rutope (24), told The Manica Post that no one is giving a satisfactory explanation on what happened to the privates.
Rutope’s sister, Annia Chingosi of Buwu Village who was visibly distraught, told the publication that they were still to come to terms with what could have happened to her brother.
Although they were not pointing fingers at anyone for the missing body parts, they feel there are more questions than answers to their plight.
“Rutope is my bother and when we went to the hospital after being informed that he was among those who perished in this accident, we were shown his body,”she said.
The medical personnel at the hospital uncovered his body for us to positively identify him as well as see the injuries he had sustained.
They also pointed out that they did not understand why his privates were missing. They advised us to visit the accident scene to search for the privates and that is the reason why we are here.
We really cannot point a finger at anyone now, but we cannot rule out foul play. How can his privates disappear like that?
When we inspected his remains, his pair of trousers and undergarments were pulled down to knee level. This is painful as we might be forced to bury him without the privates.
A nurse at Hauna Hospital who declined to be named citing protocol revealed that indeed the private parts were missing with no clue of their whereabouts. Said the nurse:
We just received the bodies as they were and we hope they will be able to retrieve the privates from the accident scene.
Seven people died on the spot when the driver of a Harare-bound haulage truck ferrying bananas to the market lost control at a curve on a steep slope a few metres from Hauna Growth Point in Honde Valley.
Of the 13 people who were injured, five of them were in critical condition and were transferred to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital in Mutare.
The seven victims were identified as Gracious Masuka (49), Judah Katamabarare (32), Tendai Moses Mangemba (48), Tsitsi Makwiyana (14), Abel Rutope (24), Ethel Jenjani (41) and Sarah Njumira (44).
