Government Increases Road Blocks In Chitungwiza, Norton

By A Correspondent- The government has said it will increase police checkpoints along Chitungwiza and Norton roads to ensure that residents travelling from these towns to Harare are those who fall under the essential services category.

This was said by the Permanent Secretary for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana when he was explaining the definition of the intercity travel ban.

“Government has noted with concern that in spite of the ban on intercity travel, some people are still travelling between cities for various non-essential reasons. This has resulted in a worrying surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.

“The public is reminded that under the extended Level 4 lockdown announced by His Excellency, President Mnangagwa on July 13, 2021, intercity travel is prohibited.

“Statutory Instrument 198 of 2021 defines intercity travel as travel between any cities or between municipalities or towns established or deemed to have been established in terms of the Urban Councils Act. (But) it does not include travel ‘between an area under the jurisdiction of a local board and a city, municipality or town that is within the same council area as the local board’.
“As an example, movement between Chitungwiza and Harare or Norton and Harare is considered intercity travel and therefore prohibited,” said Mr Mangwana.
“Accordingly, law enforcement agents will be ensuring that intercity travel will only be permitted for those providing an essential service or travelling for a humanitarian reason such as seeking medical treatment.
“Proof of provision of essential service may be requested at police checkpoints.
“Regarding intra-city travel (movement within a city), members of the public are urged to only leave their homes if they are going to provide an essential service, going to businesses permitted to operate under Level 4, or seeking food or medication within a 5km radius.
“Measures including but not limited to police checkpoints, will be intensified to ensure that members of the public comply with the measures.”

Mnangagwa Locks-Down Chitungwiza, Norton

By A Correspondent- The government has said that Chitungwiza and Norton residents will only be allowed to travel into Harare City if they can show they are providing an essential service or for humanitarian reasons since the inter-city travel ban now includes all travel between any urban authorities.

A strict definition of the term “intercity travel” was gazetted by Government yesterday as part of the health lockdown regulations.
In a statement last night explaining the implications of the new definition, Permanent Secretary for Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana said the precise definition of intercity travel now banned access to Harare by residents of the dormitory towns of Chitungwiza and Norton.

Luke-ing the Beast in the Eye: Extreme Desperation (ED) : desperate habits and the new vocabulary of desperation

Friday, 16 July 2021

By Luke Tamborinyoka

Introduction

Spawned by a coup in November 2017, the Emmerson Mnangagwa dispensation has left its own murderous footprints on the sands of history. State sanctioned murders, repression, gross human rights violations and unmitigated corruption have been the hallmark of this regime that yet again pilfered its way into office in July 2018. By dint of a sheer incompetence that has massively expanded the informality of an already highly informal sector—in the process dimming the future prospects of a doomed young generation—the Mnangagwa regime has equally spawned new habits and a new lingo, nay a new vocabulary that is testament to the fact that as a nation, we have now hit the flotsam at rock-bottom.

This week’s instalment seeks to showcase the lingo and language perspective of our crisis by giving a glimpse of the new and strange vocabulary that has now been added to the country ‘s dictionary in today’s colloquial enterprise. Most of the words are used mostly by the young generation and they depict the desperation and parlous life of ordinary Zimbabweans. Indeed, the new lingo is the window to our tenuous national moment of penury and deprivation. In this respect, even Dambudzo, the Shona word for that which causes pain and suffering becomes more than just the name of Zimbabwe’s illegitimate President. Dambudzo becomes a befitting leadership backdrop to our collective trying moment. Dambudzo becomes the graphic thematic soundtrack to the wide array of the new vocabulary in these desperate times.

Dambudzo is the Shona word for that which causes suffering and given our moment, it becomes an apt name. Dambudzo the person and dambudzo the dispensation.

The massive unemployment that now stands in excess of 90 percent and the highly in formalised economy have not only bred untold suffering and a desperate generation but has equally spawned a new vocabulary that only a competently incompetent regime could muster. Indeed, this week we take a peek at the new words and the new habits that are synonymous with our times, the new lingo that has been engendered by our current extreme desperation (ED).

1 . Hustling (kungwavhangwavha)

Hustling generally refers to the dictum of Anything goes for a living . In this our highly informal economy, citizens have resorted to desperate measures to eke out a living. As a word and as a vocation, hustling was rarely used in Zimbabwe’s colloquial discourse but under Mnangagwa, the word has become a label of pride. Hustling has almost become a tag of honour and it makes one smile for them to be labelled “the ultimate hustler.” Hustler refers to one who has sufficiently mustered the art of survival in this kiya kiya economy, itself yet another word that was added to the county’s milieu of expressions under deposed President Robert Mugabe. But as I said last week, Emmerson Mnangagwa is a Robert Mugabe on steroids. While kiya kiya under Mugabe referred to the rudimentary bustling that ordinary Zimbabweans resorted to for a living, our Emmerson has expanded the informal sector into a vast labyrinth of murky deals and kiya kiya as a reference to informal activities has proved to be grossly inadequate to describe the enterprises that ordinary Zimbabweans now do for a living. Mnangagwa has introduced a new variant of kiya kiya which Zimbabweans now refer to as kungwavha ngwavha . This has become the ultimate form of hustling under the Mnangagwa regime. Some Zimbabweans have cheekily defined kungwavha as a literal reference to a toxic mixture of thievery (humbavha) and astuteness (kungwara) . Shona speakers have even invented a mathematical formula for the word viz kungwara (astuteness) + humbavha(thievery) = kungwavha (hustling).

Hustling or kungwavha ngwavha has thus been added to the new vocabulary in the country. Whereas in the old days one would proudly proclaim they were teachers, nurses, doctors or engineers upon being asked their profession, some now proudly refer to themselves simply as hustlers.

Hustling or kungwavha ngwavha _has become the term and label of choice under the current Dispensation. Only last week, when I asked my aunt where her son was and what he was now doing for a living, she smiled at me and responded to my question with an air of pride: ” Mzukuru wako ari kuBudiriro uko kwaari kungwavhangwavha ” (Your nephew is in Budiriro where he is hustling for a living).

I simply nodded and smiled back. She knew I had heard and sufficiently understood her. That’s how the new vocabulary of desperation engendered by this incompetent regime has etched its place in everyday national discourse.

Welcome to Zimbabwe’s new Dispensation!

2 . Bond , RTGS and Svikiro

The new Dispensation has hit the depths of incompetence and we now refer to our currency in very strange terms. The advent of the bond note has meant that bond no longer means “tie”. Bond has assumed a new meaning and the word now refers to our worthless currency whose value is only assumed.

Students of commerce will tell you that Real Time Gross Transfer (RTGS) is a form of payment for goods and services and that it can never be a currency. Yet in this our beloved nation, RTGS is a form of currency!

With the advent of a new 50 bond note denomination last week, which note bears the picture of iconic spirit medium Nehanda Nyakasikana, yet another name has now been given to refer to that specific denomination. A spirit medium is called a svikiro in Shona and the new 50 bond note is now commonly referred to as a svikiro. Two 50-bond notes are now referred to as 2 masvikiro.

And one certainly does not need a spirit medium to tell them that that 200 bond is now referred to as 4 masvikiro .

Welcome to Zimbabwe’s new dispensation and its attendant new lingo!

3 . Kambwa , Mutoriro

Under Mnangagwa, there has been a revolution in the drinking and illicit liquor industry. As the economy bites and as ordinary Zimbabweans struggle to afford conventional beer, cheaper but repugnant alternatives have sprung up and one such “beer” or illicit substance is called Kambwa (puppy).

I used to drink but some nine or so years ago I kicked the habit. I am now a Christian and have since lost track of developments and the goings-on in the beer and alcohol industry. I don’t quite know how this type of alcohol acquired its name but I am told kambwa or kutu refers to a very strong alcoholic substance taken undiluted and it takes only minutes to knock out even the most determined imbiber . The Shona ideophone for taking a single gulp is kutu One theory goes that since the illicit substance is often taken in a single gulp (kutu) and since kutu also refers to a puppy, the illicit beer is now called kambwa or kutu in jest. I am told kambwa will get one utterly sloshed. An addiction to this highly illicit substance could probably lead one to living a wretched dog’s life!

In my drinking days, one would patronise a bar and it would take the whole day for them to get utterly drunk. I am told the new variants on the market, especially kambwa, can get one drunk in five minutes or less. It is no longer surprising, so I am told, for children going to school in the morning to find their fathers sloshed on their way to their learning institutions, despite the same fathers having left home only twenty or so minutes earlier to procure their illicit doses at the various non-conventional outlets that sell these dangerous drugs and substances. Not so long ago, there was only _kachasu_as the known illicit brew but it appears more illicit drugs and substances have crowded the market.

It is only in the old days that power bulbs and “globes” were for lighting in the home. The youths of today use the same bulbs to extract and to concoct a dangerous drug called mutoriro from the powder contained therein. Mutoriro is new lingo that refers to the illicit substance made from bulb residue. That bulbs could be a source of alcohol speaks Zimbabwe’s tenuous political and economic moment as well as the desperation of today’s young people. Our youths have become a doomed generation and anyone you meet with a bagful of bulbs could be on an equally doomed mission to harm themselves under the false presumption that they are “lighting up” their brain using these dangerous substances. Surely, since when did a bulb become a form of alcohol?

Welcome to Zimbabwe’s new dispensation!

I am told even diapers or pampers, particularly used ones, have become a source of alcohol or yet another illicit drug. They reportedly soak the diapers, used or unused, rinse them and then take the slimy water that drips out, which water they then use to make the beer or the substance, whatever nomenclature they prefer to use. Thanks to the desperation spawned by this purported new dispensation, the nearest shop that sells baby apparel has in fact become a bar of sorts. Shops that sell baby wear, particularly diapers, have inadvertently become “bars” or alcohol outlets of a special nature. A man with a bagful of diapers is not necessarily a responsible father going home to celebrate a new bouncing baby boy. He may actually be a drunkard carrying home his unique “crate” of “alcohol “!

Welcome to Zimbabwe’s new dispensation, its new drinking choices and habits that it has occasioned in the country.

Under the current lockdown restrictions, it is ironic that this regime may presume itself to have ordered the closure of bars and beer outlets while baby wear shops and electrical hardware shops remain open. Bars are no longer conventional and since light bulbs, diapers and baby pampers have become the special outlets for today’s alcohol , it means alcohol outlets have assumed a new but interesting dimension.

The only jobs created by Mnangagwa were for his Karanga tribesmen and tribeswomen as well as his fronts in corruption games such as Kuda Tagwireyi. Meanwhile, millions of the jobless youths of this country who are desperate for jobs spend endless idle hours on the culverts partaking to mutoriro and coining a litany of new vocabulary.

The new lingo now in currency include flex which means OK, uri_ shiri / uri hwai_ (you are a bird/sheep) which means you are a dimwit and huya kucoffin_(come to the coffin) which means come to my inbox. Zvakadhakwa means things are not OK. When you hear this idle generation, most of who have taken to these illicit and dangerous substances shouting aya masports asiri eazy_ (these are difficult sports), all they are trying to say is that this is an onerous task or a vexing enterprise.

Welcome to the new Dispensation, its unconventional bars, its unique habits and the freshly-minted lingo by the multitudes that constitute our idle and jobless generation.

4 . Stability and budget surplus

Amid this monumental crisis, the Mnangagwa regime, through Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, has claimed the country’s economy is stable and that the country has had a budget surplus. Never mind that civil servants are grossly underpaid, the health sector has been in the intensive care unit for the past four years and that the Chiredzi Residents Trust has had to mobilise residents to raise funds to repair a police vehicle, the regime continues to claim a budget surplus and that the economy is on the mend.

Surplus, growth and stability must certainly have a different meaning to this inept lot in government. Its their own unique vocabulary for a completely different situation on the ground. A country with an external debt that has ballooned to US$16 billon and whose hospitals have no bandages and painkillers is telling us it has had a budget surplus? Unless surplus has assumed a new meaning. Otherwise this has become a Dispensation of perfidy and nude lies. If chronic liars were to be conferred with a Knighthood, Mnangagwa and Mthuli Ncube would have acquired the grand title of “Sir Plus” due to their surplus lies that have set quite a global lying record!

Bravo to the regime for giving a new meaning to these English words. Welcome to our new Dispensation.

5 Prophet

The word prophet now means something completely different and remotely connected to the Christian religious faith. Prophecy has become an informal and sector of kungwavhangwavha. The title Prophet now refers not to seers but to a new breed of besuited, rich and clean-shaven conmen who wear designer labels and whose main line of economic enterprise is swindling the dumb and the innocent. Regime apologists and regime ambassadors and frontmen such as Passion Java and Uebert Angels are part of this gothic lot of gospelpreneurs who purport to be fronting God when they are simply conmen and crooks. Under Mnangagwa, the word prophet has become nothing more than a political survivalist vocation that uses a holy name. Most of these so-called prophets have conveniently sought cover in the kleptpcratic regime that is equally replete with thieves, conmen and conwomen.

6 . Bravo Rtd Gen Chiwenga

Chiwenga has certainry brought a new ranguage and new Engrish pronunciations, indeed a new rexicon and new diction.

  1. Kuda Tagwireyi and Douglas_ Mwonzora as practices and cultures

Kuda Tagwireyi, the corruption frontman and human embodiment of State capture in Zimbabwe has long ceased to be just a name. Tagwireyi is no longer a human label or a simple name but a practice and a culture. A despicable vocation of avarice and unmitigated corruption. Kuda Tagwireyi has morphed from being a name to a rendition of sleaze and reckless profiteering.

Equally, Mwonzora is no longer a name but has become a label that defines a treacherous culture and aptitude. Usandi Mwonzora means don’t sell me out while ndamwonzorewa means someone has just been sold me out. Mwonzora has joined the treacherous lot that stretches from Judas Iscariot to the infamous liberation war sellout Morrison Nyathi, from Abel Tendekai Muzorewa to Douglas Togsrasei Mwonzora himself. He has taken the Democratic struggle backwards by dint of his buyable and purchasable political soul. Mwonzora has become the acme of treachery and surrogate politics and that is why he is now being derisively referred to as Mwonzorewa, a treacherous bigamy that fuses the names of two renowned sellouts.

8 . The scarf as a symbol

Under Mnangagwa, the scarf is no longer an apparel for warmth but a goblin of sorts. Under this Dispensation, the scarf has assumed a new meaning and a new denotation. The scarf under Mnangagwa now means something witchly as it has assumed a dangling permanence around the neck of the Dear Leader, even in the searing and scorching October sun!

Conclusion

Indeed, Mnangagwa’s Dispensation has spawned new habits, a new diction and a new vocabulary while some words and terms have been deliberately twisted to denote fictitious positive developments, thanks to the regime’s incompetence. As the world grapples with a global pandemic that has assumed many variants, our cursed country is equally saddled with a new variant of terms peculiar only to Zimbabwe. For example, kupedza masports(finishing the sports) means accomplishing a task or a mission, especially under very difficult circumstances.

For this week, I am done. I have accomplished my weekly vocation.

Ndapedza masports!

Mmusi Maimane Describes Mnangagwa As The Worst Thug In The Region

By Jane Mlambo| South African opposition leader Mmusi Maimane has ripped into President Emmerson Mnangagwa over his remarks wishing peaceful resolution of the current challenges facing the Southern African nation.

In his Twitter message, Mnangagwa said;

“On behalf of all Zimbabweans, both at home and abroad, we wish that the current challenges plaguing our South African brothers and sisters are resolved peacefully.

“Only when there is peace in South Africa, is there peace in our region,” said Mnangagwa.

Maimane reacted angrily, describing Mnangagwa as the biggest thug in the region who had no moral ground to talk about peace.

“Of all people you must shut up the most. You have been brutally killing civilians for 41 years.

“You know nothing of peace and everything about violence. Thula Mnangagwa,” said Maimane.

“South Africa needs no advice about peace from the biggest thug in the region. The reigning champion of oppression in SADC. Sies,” added Maimane.

Drama In Court As Biti’s Lawyer Clashes With ‘Malicious’ State Prosecutor

By A Correspondent| Tempers flared in court yesterday after opposition MDC Alliance Deputy President Tendai Biti’s lawyer Alec Muchadehama called state prosecutor Micheal Reza malicious for pushing for a warrant of arrest against Harare East legislator who missed the court after getting in contact with a Covid-19 positive person at his offices.

Muchadehama accused Reza of pursuing a personal vendetta against Biti who could not be in court as he was in isolation in line with the World Health Organization guidelines.

Reza insisted that Biti who is accused of assaulting a woman of Russian origin Tatiana Aleshina should be issued with a warrant of arrest, forcing Muchadehama to describe his actions as malicious.

“Your worship my client is in isolation and he is also present at this Court premises , he is observing World Health Organisation and government’s prescribed guidelines as the world grapples to fight covid 19 pandemic”, said Muchadehama.

“COVID-19 positive or not, we do not know any of that at all… in fact section 194 (2) of the Criminal Procedures and Evidence Act says if the accused person absents himself during the trial without leave of the courts, I did not hear this court excusing the accused not to be here all we have is a letter from a law firm which is saying certain things.

“Your worship that letter from a law firm cannot be a substitute for COVID-19 positive results, this is a lawyer who is just saying has been in contact with somebody who has turned out to be COVID-19 positive. What we do not know is for a fact whether the person mentioned to be COVID-19 positive is indeed positive. This person was warned to appear before this court at 0900hrs, leave has not been granted to absent himself so therefore a warrant of arrest must be issued,” charged Reza.

This forced Muchadehama to question Reza’s interest in the case to the extend of disregarding WHO guidelines.

“We seek an extra notion on Reza on why he is being so much interested in this matter to an extent that he refused to postpone the matter and allow my client to observe Covid-19 regulations”, he told magistrate Vongai Guwuriro.

He also asked if Reza had personal interest or issues with Biti or was just being malicious, pushing for a warrant of arrest against his client.

Unexpected of a senior law officer, a Deputy Prosecutor General, Reza lost his temper hit back at Muchadehama in what left the court room in stitches.

“Your worship if my learned brother continues to say I am malicious I will call him an idiot,” snapped Reza.

The matter was postponed to 28 July for continuation of trial.

Chitungwiza, Norton Shut Out From Harare

By A Correspondent| Government has announced the prohibition of Chitungwiza and Norton residents from coming to Harare saying it is considered as inter-city movement.

Under the extended level 4 national lockdown, intercity movement is banned as part of measures to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement Friday afternoon, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana said government was worried by the continued disregarding of travel prohibitions by people.

“Government has noted with concern that in spite of the ban on intercity travel, some people are still travelling between cities for various non-essential reasons. This has resulted in worrying surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.

“The public is reminded that under extended Level 4 lockdown announced by his Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa on 13 July 2021, intercity travel is prohibited,” said Mangwana.

“As an example movement between Chitungwiza and Harare or Norton and Harare is considered intercity travel and therefore prohibited,” added Mangwana.

Mangwana said they will be intensify police checkpoints to ensure that members of the public comply with the measures.

Govt Gazettes USD Passport Application Fees

Government has gazetted foreign currency passport application fees in a move that could finally settle the perpetual crisis that saw some people having to wait for over two years to get their important travel document ready for collection.

In the gazette published yesterday, the ordinary passport now costs USD60 while a two day application is pegged at USD200.

The 24 hour emergency application remains at the current USD318.

Government said the fees can be paid in local currency at the prevailing foreign currency auction rate.

President Chamisa Dismisses Mnangagwa’s “Division 2030”

Tinashe Sambiri| MDC Alliance leader President Nelson Chamisa has taunted Emmerson Mnangagwa over his vision 2030 projection.

President Chamisa said vision 2030 will not transform the country’s economy.

The Zanu PF regime lacks vision and direction, according to President Chamisa.

“LEADERSHIP..VISION attracts provision.

We need vision NOW not division 2030.It’s possible. We can do it.”

Analysts say Mnangagwa is obsessed with destroying the opposition instead of concentrating on improving the lives of suffering citizens.

Tagwirei Donates US$5,5 million Cash | BUT IS IT HIS MONEY?

Kuda Tagwirei

The man discussed in parliament as Emmerson Mnangagwa’s money-conduit for stolen state money, Kudakwashe Tagwirei’s yesterday donated US$5,5 million in cash and equipment to government to help improve people’s livelihoods during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year it was revealed that more than USD5,9 billion was paid out to Tagwirei in the first 6 months after the late President Robert Mugabe’s removal, without any voucher documentation to support. The matter has since reached a point of the chairperson for the Finance portfolio  Tendai Biti being removed from his post.

The former Finance Minister this week said Zimbabwe has actually lost USD13.2 billion. He commented over a recent audit saying, “used wisely, $13.2 billion can transform Zimbabwe into an upper middle tier economy in a short period of time.”

Meanwhile, Tagwirei’s Sakunda Holdings also donated $170 million for purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.

Presenting the donation to Mnangagwa at State House in Harare, the Sakunda proprietor said the donation would cover various sectors including tuition fees for university students.

“Sakunda Holdings acknowledges commitment by the government to positively impact the livelihoods of the people of our great nation Zimbabwe,” Tagwirei said.

“Sakunda has noticed the effects of COVID-19 on the well-being of Zimbabweans among them, the following: some parents have lost their ability to pay university tuition fees for their children; our health care system is inundated with a huge number of COVID-19 patients; increase in number of citizens who now require urgent COVID-19 vaccination and compromised livelihoods of the people, especially young people.

“Sakunda is also donating six truckloads of assorted medical consumables which include injections, airway management, products, wound care products, among others for rural hospital worth $91 million.”

The fuel magnate also donated five double-cab trucks and fuel for the police homicide department in addition to $30 million for purchase of specialised equipment to enhance its operations.

“As a company, we are further handing over 500 heifers and 25 bulls to His Excellency the President, ED Mnangagwa to support heifers’ projects for the youths,” he said.

Mnangagwa urged other private companies to emulate the firm. Apart from Sakunda, Beitbridge contractors donated US$500 000, while CBZ Bank chipped in with US$250 000.

ZB Bank, property mogul Ken Sharpe and Insurance Council of Zimbabwe each weighed in with US$50 000, while another gold dealer Pedzisayi “Scott” Sakupwanya donated US$100 000.

Tagwirei, who is on the United States sanctions, has also in the past refurbished public hospitals, such as United Bulawayo Hospitals, Parirenyatwa and Mpilo, among others, for use during the COVID-19 pandemic, apart from availing his 30-bed Arundel Hospital for use by government.

He has often been accused of accessing government tenders under controversial circumstances. – Newsday

Kika Bunks Malaba Hearing

THE ZIMBABWE Human Rights NGO Forum executive director, Musa Kika snubbed a Constitutional Court hearing which sought to reverse a High Court order dismissing the extension of Chief Justice Luke Malaba’s term of office.

Musa Kika

Explaining the development, Kika said he will not attend because the judges will not deliver a fair verdict.

The development comes after 3 High Court judges in May: Happias Zhou, Edith Mushore and Jesta Charehwa ruled that Malaba ceased being a Chief Justice on the midnight of his 70th birthday.

The High Court last month ruled that the Chief Justice did not have the right laid out in the latest constitutional amendment to opt to continue in office until he was 75.

The development saw the Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi threatening three High Court judges saying they were now captured by the opposition. Kika does not hold any position in any of the country’s opposition parties.

Ziyambi and the Attorney-General noted an appeal against the decision, which was said would suspend the lower court’s order.

Following the noting of appeal, CJ Malaba returned to work, a development that upset Mr Kika, the leader of the original application to block the Chief Justice from continuing in the post after he turned 70, who then unsuccessfully sought another High Court order for the top judge to be found in contempt of court and committed to civil imprisonment for six months.

After losing that application after the two judges found that a long-settled law did stay judgments once an appeal was noted, Mr Kika again approached the High Court, this time seeking leave to execute the May 15 judgment pending appeal.

But just an hour before the case management meeting, set for 2pm yesterday before Justices Esther Muremba, Pisirayi Kwenda and Paul Musithu, Mr Kika, through his legal counsel, withdrew the application without giving reasons.

He tendered wasted costs of the suit.

The High Court last week ruled that CJ Malaba was not in contempt of court, when he resumed his judicial functions after an appeal to the Supreme Court was noted against the earlier High Court decision that the constitutional amendment giving him the option of five more years of service did not apply to him and other senior judges.

The judgment confirmed that the noting of an appeal automatically suspends the execution of any judgment or decision appealed against, including the declaratory order on May 15, and so dismissed the urgent application Mr Kika was seeking.

Two High Court judges, Justices Amy Tsanga and Sylvia Chirawu-Mugomba dismissed the urgent application by Mr Kika, for lack of merit. – state media/agencies

NGOs Respond To Mnangagwa Threats

Tinashe Sambiri|Feeling insecure due to rising political tension, the Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa this week released a statement threatening to deregister NGOs and CSOs he accused of plotting the downfall of his troubled administration.

Mr Mnangagwa’s sentiments were also echoed by senior members of Zanu PF, indicating the former revolutionary party is playing the blame game in a bid to confuse citizens.

Mr Mnangagwa instructed Zanu PF members to work towards reclaiming resounding victory in urban areas, a prospect political analysts say is unachievable given the fact that the regime’s support base is dwindling in towns and cities.

“Party structures, particularly the District Coordinating Committees office bearers in the Business Liaisons, Youth and Women League secretariats from the cell, branch, right up to provincial level in urban areas and growth points are called upon to implement robust mobilisation programmes to bring every urbanite to ZANU PF, the home of the people’s revolution,” said Mr Mnangagwa.

Responding to Mr Mnangagwa’s threats to censor NGOs,
Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition spokesperson Marvellous Khumalo, quoted by NewsDay, said CSOs would remain guided by the laws of the country.

“What we will do as CSOs is that we will be guided by the laws of the country.

You would recall that we wrote to Harare provincial development co-ordinator Tafadzwa Muguti requesting that he furnishes us with the pieces of legislation that support his directives because as CSOs, we will be comfortable to do things that are within the confines of the law.

“We don’t want to go outside the provisions of the Constitution and other pieces of legislation,” said Khumalo.

He added: “We are not taking it as tough times ahead so far. What these people are saying at this point in time are just threats. We are not inviting sideshows as of now because politicians will always try to possibly distract us from our mandate and scope of work. We will not be drawn in.”

“We will wait for further engagements through normal government procedures and we are not worried with what political parties say behind closed doors. We will be guided by the law,” he said.

COVID-19 Vaccines: The Facts…

Questions and Answers on COVID-19 vaccines

Q: How have the vaccines been developed so quickly? Does this mean that their safety and efficacy has been compromised?

A: The speed of development of COVID-19 vaccines has been unprecedented for several reasons, but the safety and efficacy requirements for vaccines have not been compromised, Vaccine development was facilitated by:

The massive financial investment by governments, industry and philanthropic organisations in vaccine development and the re-direction of much of the global research and commercial infrastructure for the development and manufacture of vaccines. Governments also enabled companies to take the commercial risk of manufacturing some vaccine stocks ahead of regulatory approvals.

New technologies adapted from the development of other vaccines – mRNA vaccines were developed for COVID-19 very rapidly after the sequence of the COVID-19 virus was determined, but the underlying technology had been under development since much longer and production could be scaled up very quickly. The adenovirus technology used for adenovirus vector vaccines was first tested with SARS, MERS and Ebola virus over the last 20 years, and so was able to be adapted quickly to COVID-19, which has several similarities to these viruses.

Clinical trial successes – it has been possible to rapidly recruit large numbers of volunteers into clinical trials and, with unfortunately high rates of infection in several countries, to complete trials with 10,000-50,000 people in a short period of time. Under normal circumstances, it may take many months or even a few years to carry out trials of this size to determine whether a vaccine is effective.
Very close collaboration – between regulators, industry and clinical researchers enabled clear indications of regulatory requirements and early access to results.

Intensive and insightful research – researchers predicted that the “spike protein” on the virus would be a good target for vaccine development, and almost all vaccines have been designed to induce a response to this protein. So far, the spike protein has produced a strong immune response in those vaccinated, and for those vaccines that have reported clinical results are highly protective from COVID-19 disease.
Q: Will mRNA vaccines affect the DNA of vaccine recipients?

A: No. The mRNA in the vaccine has not been shown to incorporate itself into the genes of vaccine recipients and breaks down in the weeks after vaccination. mRNA vaccines contain genetic instructions for our cells, which only read them and provide copies of the SARS-CoV2 spike protein. This enables the body’s natural immune systems to cause a response in vaccine recipients if they are later exposed to the virus.

Q: How long will COVID-19 vaccination provide protection for immunised people?

A: We do not yet know how long protection from any of these vaccines lasts. We will get better insights over the next 12 months.

The duration of protection provided by vaccines can vary. For example, the seasonal influenza vaccine is given annually, because the influenza virus mutates, and protection wanes over a number of months. Other vaccines, such as those for rubella or measles provide multi-year or even life-long protection from disease. Mutations in key viral proteins can mean that virus variants emerge. The SARS-CoV-2-coronavirus is prone to mutations that creates variants, some of which have become established in a number of regions of the world. The scientific community and regulators are very actively monitoring whether the current vaccines can continue protecting people from infection with new variants.
A number of vaccine developers are currently developing vaccines against the range of variants, and it is likely that booster shots with these vaccines will increase protection against known variants. Regulators have agreed that review of data on vaccines against variants will be facilitated based on assessment of immune response to the variant, in the same way that new seasonal influenza vaccines are evaluated each year.
Q: Why are there so many vaccine candidates?

A: As the global seriousness of the pandemic became rapidly apparent, development of effective vaccines for COVID-19 became the top priority of many pharmaceutical companies and medical research institutes. There was also unprecedented government and private sector investment in vaccine development. There is now a wide range of technologies for developing new vaccines – and many of the organisations developing COVID-19 vaccines have particular experience in one or more of these technologies. This has ensured that there would still be vaccines available if some were not approved for reasons of efficacy, safety or manufacturing challenges.

Q: What if many people start getting a reaction from a particular COVID-19 vaccine?

A: Short-term reactions, such as soreness at the injection site, fatigue or headache are common following any vaccination with COVID-19 vaccines. These reactions usually pass in a day or two. If new evidence becomes available that suggests that a specific serious adverse event may be linked to a particular COVID-19 vaccine then regulators will take action, working collaboratively on a global basis and liaise with public health authorities. The type of actions that can be taken depend on the nature of the adverse event, and could range from issuing safety warnings for patients, healthcare professionals and the community; updating the product information or consumer information for the vaccine to show contraindications for the use in particular patients (e.g. those with certain co-morbidities); to closely monitoring adverse events in certain groups of patients; preventing the release of a particular batch of vaccine through to temporary suspension of the use of the vaccine until more is known.

Q: How are regulators speeding up the time it takes to authorise a COVID-19 vaccine?

A: Many regulators globally have implemented faster access pathways for COVID-19 vaccines, without compromising on strict standards of safety, quality and efficacy.

Some countries have Emergency Use Authorisation pathways which assess the available data at the time of authorisation. Exercising these provisions is a matter for those countries, taking into account the benefits versus risks in the context of the prevailing domestic pandemic situation. Different countries may coin this pathway or authorisation routes differently but essentially, they follow the same principles.
Other countries have implemented accelerated/priority, conditional or provisional approval schemes.

Under normal circumstances, regulatory assessment begins once all information to support registration is available. For COVID-19 vaccines, many regulators have agreed to accept data on a rolling basis to enable early evaluation of data as it becomes available. Regulators will only be in a position to make a provisional approval decision for a vaccine once there is sufficient data to support adequately the safety, quality and effectiveness of the vaccine for its intended use. If a decision is made to grant provisional or conditional approval, it will be based on the requirement for the sponsor to submit more comprehensive, longer term clinical data, stability data and other information with agreed timelines.
Q: Did our country approve this COVID-19 vaccine, or are we relying on another country’s approval?

A: Most countries are carrying out independent regulatory evaluations on the submitted data for each vaccine. However, to ensure a more efficient use of resources and expertise, regulators in different countries are communicating closely on safety, efficacy and quality data and discussing technical issues as they may arise. In many cases principles of WHO Good Reliance Practices and collaborative mechanisms leverage the output of other regulators.

Q: Why weren’t very rare blood clots with low platelets with the AstraZeneca or Janssen vaccines picked up during clinical trials?

A: Thromboembolic events with concurrent thrombocytopenia are very rare – with estimates based on the number of spontaneous reports suggesting an overall incidence on the order of 10-15 cases per million doses. The clinical trials of these vaccines included large numbers of people, often with 10,000 to 20,000 individuals in the active vaccine arms, but even in trials of this size it was statistically unlikely that such very rare events would be detected. This shows the importance of continual safety monitoring during the use of these vaccines, to allow very rare events to be detected and investigated further.

Man Threatens To Kill Own Grandmother At Birthday Party

Mhlawempi Masuku (41) brought his 83-year-old grandmother’s birthday party celebrations to a sudden halt after he kicked and broke a glass door, charged at his grandmother and tried to stab her with a knife.

The dramatic incident happened in Newton West suburb on Saturday last week at around 7.30pm.

Nobesuthu Ndlovu (36) said her cousin (Masuku) got drunk and picked his grandmother’s walking stick and a pair of scissors while unleashing insults at everyone.

He then picked a knife and threatened to stab everyone at the party as he charged towards them, causing everyone who had gathered for celebrations to scurry for cover.

Masuku went for the glass door and kicked it, shattering it to pieces in the process. He charged at his granny while threatening to stab her with a knife.

Masuku’s aunt Zanele Ndebele said: “While we were busy posing for photos, Mhla (Masuku), who was visibly drunk reached for the knife and charged towards my mother intending to stab her. I had to restrain him and took the knife from him. We then scolded him and he calmed down.”

After a few minutes Masuku, who seemed to be on a mission to stab his granny, picked a scissors and charged towards the granny. Zanele restrained him.

He was not done yet as he turned to Nobesuthu’s boyfriend, Takudzwa Musengi (37), who ran for his dear life while he pursued him.

Musengi said: “He charged at me while threatening to stab me with a pair of scissors, my mother-in-law quickly restrained him and took away the scissors and the knife.”

Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident: “I can confirm that we arrested a man who wanted to stab his 83-year-old granny and his son-in-law during her grandmother’s birthday party celebrations.”- B- Metro

Mnangagwa diverts From Zim Crisis, Focuses On SA Violence

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has diverted from addressing the political and economic crisis his country is experiencing and focused on political unrest in South Africa.

Instead of addressing problems, Zimbabwe is facing Mnangagwa said wished for the unrest to be resolved as soon as possible to ensure continued stability in the region.

Speaking at his party’s Ordinary session of the Politburo in Harare Wednesday, Mnangagwa said there was a need to ensure peace and stability in South Africa.

“In the case of South Africa, we wish the current challenges facing our brothers and sisters in that country be soon resolved,” he said.

Over 70 people have been killed in violence that followed the imprisonment of Mr Zuma for contempt of court last week.

His jailing sparked wildcat protests in his home province of KwaZulu Natal which then spread to other areas. Roads, including those that link South Africa to Zimbabwe, are currently blocked while truckers are being targeted by the protesters.

To quell the protests, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa deployed the military after the country’s police had been overwhelmed by the violent demonstrators who have burnt and looted shops.

JUST IN: Govt Bans Chitungwiza Residents From Harare

Ramaphosa Deports More Zimbabweans

By A Correspondent- The South African government has deported 10 Zimbabweans who completed serving their sentences at correctional facilities around Limpopo province.

The group arrived in police vans, along with 60 others who had been rounded up for violating immigration laws in the neighbouring country.

The deportations are part of the South Africans’ plans to decongest prisons and migrants holding centres.

According to the Zimbabwe Consulate in Johannesburg, the ex-convicts had been arrested for robbery, housebreaking and shoplifting, among other charges. Last week, seven ex-convicts were deported from Gauteng province along with 213 others who had been raided for violating Pretoria’s immigration laws.

Zimbabwe’s Consul-General to Johannesburg Mrs Melody Chaurura said recently that they have not been able to deport people in the last two weeks.

“On average less than 100 people are being sent home from South Africa weekly,” she said.

By the end of the day yesterday, health officials were still screening the group for Covid-19.

Under the lockdown Standard Operational Procedures (SOP), those returnees or deportees who test positive for Covid-19 are put in isolation while those that test negative are sent to their respective homes.

COVID-19 Vaccines: Key Questions And Answers

Man Relieves Self In Blankets As He Protests At Being Denied S*x By Wife

A BULAWAYO man from Hope Fountain who could not stomach being denied sex by his wife chose a bizarre way to show his displeasure — he resorted to urinating and defecating on his marital bed.

A seemingly fed-up Memory Ncube shamed her husband Isaac Mpofu in her application for a protection order at the Bulawayo Civil Court.

In her papers she said his reason for the gross behaviour was because she was denying him his conjugal rights. She said as a way of spiting her for denying him his matrimonial rights, Mpofu wets and poos in the blankets after every night of drinking.

In her suit she said she was now tired of cleaning up her husband’s mess.

“I am customarily married to Isaac Mpofu and he is emotionally and psychologically abusing me. Whenever he comes home drunk he urinates and worse, of all, defecates in the blankets. When I ask him, he says he was fixing me because I was denying him sex.

“It’s not like I’m denying him his conjugal rights but I’m against his violent behaviour which he exhibits whenever he gets drunk. I am tired of cleaning up his mess.

Worse still, he and his relatives want me to desert our matrimonial home,” Ncube protested in her affidavit.

She said she once tried to engage family members to solve the matter to no avail adding that her husband was also not financially supporting the family.

The parties, however, didn’t come to court and the matter could not be heard in their absence leading it to be struck off the roll.- B-Metro

Panicky Mnangagwa “Dreams” Of Winning Resoundingly In Urban Areas

That will not change because Emmerson Mnangagwa stole the people’s victory,” declared Ostallos.

Durban Mom Who Threw Baby From Building Speaks Out

Durban mother

By A Correspondent- A mother who threw her baby to a crowd from a smoke-filled building in the South African coastal city of Durban has told the BBC of her gratitude to those who saved her daughter, who turns two next month.

“All I could do was trust complete strangers,” Naledi Manyoni said. She added that they were both doing well.

The building they were in was set on fire by looters.

The unrest was sparked by the jailing of former President Jacob Zuma.

The 79-year-old was convicted of contempt of court last month after failing to attend an inquiry into corruption during his presidency.

He handed himself in to police last Wednesday to start serving his 15-month prison sentence, but this sparked violent protests, arson attacks, and opportunistic looting in his home province of KwaZulu-Natal and spread to other cities and towns.

At least 72 people have died in what President Cyril Ramaphosa has described as some of the worst violence South Africa has witnessed since the 1990s, before the end of white-minority rule.

The government says it will deploy some 25,000 soldiers to stem the violence.
How was baby Melokuhle rescued?

BBC cameraman Thuthuka Zondi filmed Ms Manyoni throwing Melokuhle, when they were on a street in Durban’s city centre on Tuesday afternoon after it had been hit by looters.

Those raiding ground-floor shops had started a fire in the building in which Ms Manyoni had been visiting her partner.

They were staying in the 16th floor of the apartment block when they noticed smoke rising.

The lift was not working because of the fire, so Ms Manyoni frantically ran down the stairs with her baby.
However, she was unable to get to the ground floor as the area was blocked.

She says she managed to squeeze through to a balcony area on the second floor where she appealed to passers-by for help.

“All I could think was to make sure my baby lived,” she said.

Firefighters arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after people in the crowd had started rescuing others residents with ladders – which is when Ms Manyoni was reunited with her daughter.

She told the BBC they managed to return to the flat at about midnight.

Days of unrest have sparked shortages of bread and fuel in Durban, where long queues have formed outside shops and petrol stations.

On Tuesday South Africa’s biggest oil refinery announced that it was suspending its operations, blaming civil unrest in the country and disruption of supply routes in and out of KwaZulu-Natal.

Meanwhile, the executive director of the South Africa’s largest farmers’ organisation, AgriSA, said producers were struggling to get their crops to market because of the logistical “shambles”.

“We need the restoration of law and order as soon as possible, because we are going to have a massive humanitarian crisis,” Christo van der Rheede told AFP news agency.

In his first public comments on the violence, Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini condemned the looting, saying it was painting a bad picture of the community, and that the destruction only harmed the poor.

“I never imagined that my father’s people would be involved in the burning of their own country,” he said.

“Knowing that all this is happening in a time of pandemic, and at the height of the most dangerous variant of the virus, leads to the only conclusion possible: my father’s people are committing suicide,” said King Misuzulu, who was named earlier this year following the death of his parents.

Looting And Burning Are Echoes Of Apatheid Era And Proof Of S.A’s Failure To Make The Quantum Leap

By Wilbert Mukori- “Before independence corruption was considered a bold and patriotic act especially as the corruption was considered an act of defiance against white colonial government. It is just that after independence the corruption continued; Nigerians consoled themselves by arguing Nigeria is very rich and there is plenty more where the looted wealth came from!” A Nigerian acquaintance once told.

“Cold comfort! Look what Sani Abacha has done; completely destroyed the country!”

If the truth be told, many African countries have been in economic decline ever since they attained their independence for various reasons including corruption. The corrupt and incompetent ruling elite have conned the ordinary people into believing there was nothing wrong with corruption, lawlessness, rigged elections, etc., etc. and those advocating for these values are brain washed puppets of the dethroned colonial whites who are seeking regime change and then recolonize the country.

I had hoped that South Africans would have learned to avoid the mistakes Nigerians and the rest of independent Africa before them made; they would not be so easily conned into throwing out the baby with the bath water. The basic rule that no one should be above the law is pivotal to fighting corruption, I thought every South African will see that!

Many South Africans are still living in abject poverty, the country’s wealth is still in the hands of the whites. Independence brought an end to political apartheid in the sense that blacks now have a vote and the racist laws have been abolished. However the laws and practices that had given the whites the economic advantage before independence have remained; economic apartheid is alive and thriving; as far as the impoverished majority are concerned.

The Court that sentence former SA president Jacob Zuma to 15 months for contempt of court has enforced property rights and other laws that have helped maintain the economic apartheid and so it comes as little surprise that the ordinary South African should revolt against the Court and reject rule of law.

The overwhelming majority of the owners of the shops, factories and businesses that were looted and burnt belong to the privileged white owners; burning shops, factories, etc. before independence was considered a legitimate target and since the economic emancipation did not happen in1994, the struggle continues.

A luta continua!

Deng Xiaoping. China’s economic miracle that has transform that nation from a marginal nation to the world’s second largest economy happened when Chairman Xiaoping embraced capitalism as an ideology to drive economic growth. Chairman Mao Zedong, his predecessor had rejected capitalism born out of the deep-rooted mistrust of the British, Americans and the West.

“It doesn’t matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.” Argued Chairman Xiaoping.

In the first two decade of China embracing capitalism the country’s economy grew in leaps and bounds puling hundreds of millions of Chinese out of poverty and the country has never looked back ever since!

Africa can too, enjoy its economic miracle, we have the rich soil and wonderful weather to produce the food, the vast minerals wealth and the flora and fauna “lovely beyond any singing of it” as Alan Paton put it so poetical. Sadly, Africa’s economic renascence is more uncertain now that South Africans have too the capitulation and rejected the rule of law for no better reason than it is a carryover from the apartheid era!

To paraphrase Chairman Xiaoping, “It doesn’t matter whether the judge is black or white, as long as he/she enforces the rule of law and stamp out corruption!” I do not see Cyril Ramaphosa and certainly not the likes of Zimbabwe’s Emerson Mnangagwa ever making that quantum leap; the former lacks the intellectual ability whilst the latter lacks the intellect and is rotten to the core with corruption to ever change!

Mmusi Maimane Rips Into Mnangagwa Over SA Crisis Remarks

By Jane Mlambo| South African opposition leader Mmusi Maimane has ripped into President Emmerson Mnangagwa over his remarks wishing peaceful resolution of the current challenges facing the Southern African nation.

In his Twitter message, Mnangagwa said;

Germany Pours In EUR 3 Million In Zim To Assist Broke Mnangagwa Admin

By A Correspondent- The Germany government has poured EUR 3 million into the World Food Programme to support vulnerable communities in Zimbabwe to meet basic food needs amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

The fund availed through the German Federal Foreign Office, is part of a EUR 18 million contribution by Germany to Southern Africa for 2021-2023.
This contribution will be used to improve access to food and ensure that vulnerable women, men, girls and boys, including refugees, consumers have access to an adequately nutritious diet in times of need, particularly during the lean season.

Deputy Ambassador for German Embassy Harare, Mr Christian Oelfke said the contribution was part of the Federal Republic of Germany´s worldwide efforts to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic has exacerbated the food security situation which has been strained for large parts of the population in the past few years. We hope that our contribution will help to temporarily alleviate the plight of vulnerable groups,” he said.

WFP Zimbabwe country director and representative Ms Francesca Erdelmann said this contribution came at a time when many were finding it difficult to put food on the table because of Covid -19.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected Zimbabweans, as restrictions implemented to curb the spread of the virus have resulted in the loss of livelihoods and household income. Most of Zimbabwe’s urban population relies heavily on informal sector livelihoods, its closure during the lockdown period has had a detrimental impact on levels of urban food insecurity.
“While the agriculture season witnessed an improved harvest from the previous years, some areas still need support to see them through the peak hunger period.
“Refugees at Tongogara Refugee Camp will struggle to make ends meet as they depend on WFP for assistance. This contribution from Germany will go a long way in assisting these vulnerable groups that need help the most,” she said.

WFP assists 326,004 people across 23 urban domains until the end of this year, with monthly cash-based transfers via e-voucher and Western Union remittance exchange. Beneficiaries receive USD 12 per person, per month to help meet their basic food needs.

Currently, WFP is assisting more than 13,500 refugees and through the Lean Season Assistance.

“No Covid-19 Certificate, No Entry”: Harare City Council

council notice

By A Correspondent- Harare City Council which saw its staff members testing positive to Covid-19 is no longer permitting entrance at town house to staff members and visitors that have not undergone Covid-19 tests over the past three weeks.

Even those with valid Covid-19 vaccination certificates are still required to produce a Covid-19 certificate showing proof of having been tested.

In a notice at town house the council said the testing certificate should be produced at the entrance.

“Please be advised that no person shall be allowed to enter town house without a valid negative Covid-19 certificate issued from Saturday June 26, 2021.

“Present your Covid-19 certificate upon arrival at the reception,” reads the notice inscribed on the main entrance.

Our crew visited the offices this morning and a council female security officer that was manning the entrance said apart from the vaccination card, the Covid-19 test certificate was a must.

‘Team Number 2’ Faction Emerges In Zanu PF

Zanu-PF has been rocked by the emergence of a shadowy new faction going by the moniker, Team Number 2, which was showcased at recent clandestine Women’s League meeting in Bulawayo, the Zimbabwe Independent reported.

This comes amid reports that fierce wrangling has erupted in Zanu-PF ahead of its annual conference set for October, with the latest chapter in the dramatic factional battles playing out in the influential Women’s League.

Ructions have also been reported in the explosive Mashonaland West province where jostling for former chairperson Ziyambi Ziyambi’s position is underway.

Zanu-PF, always given to factional dissections, is currently divided between two main camps, one rallying behind its first secretary, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and the other behind his highly ambitious deputy Constantino Chiwenga, whose presidential aspirations were laid bare by his estranged wife, Marry, in court last year.

In the Women’s League, the fiercest battle is being fought in Matabeleland North province where women have been holding meetings to position themselves for leadership posts in the league.

The factional divisions exploded into the public this week after a group of Matabeleland North Zanu-PF Women’s League members held two meetings on June 11 and 18 at York House in Bulawayo with the purpose of positioning each other for a restructuring exercise set for September.

The meetings were chaired by Sikhanyisiwe Mpofu, the wife of Zanu-PF secretary for administration, Obert Mpofu.

A Zanu-PF internal source said the meetings in question was attended by quite a number of Women’s League members who call themselves “Team Number 2”.

The Team Number 2, according to the source, comprises Sikhanyisiwe Mpofu, Alice Dube from Tsholotsho, Molly Mkandla from Hwange, Veronica Munkuli from Binga, Elizabeth Masuku from Umguza, Sithandazile Moyo from Tsholotsho (acting youth chairman), Stars Mathe (Nkayi South MP) and Dora Msimanga (incoming provincial Women’s League chairlady).

Others include Sithembubuhle Sibanda from Lupane, Tryphine Khumalo from Lupane, Namatama Ncube from Hwange and Priscah Utete (Hwange district).

“These met ahead of the restructuring that is likely to take place in September. The meetings were chaired by Mpofu and the agenda was to allocate positions. Mpofu is tipped to take the position of deputy national secretary for women affairs to replace Angeline Masuku whom they say is now too old to hold a busy office. Elizabeth Masuku who is said to be graduating from the Youth League to the Women’s League was also promised to take a substantive post,” the source said.

“Dora Msimanga who is currently the vice-chair Women’s League is expected to replace Madeline Bhebhe who was not part of the meeting. The vice-chairwoman was expected to come from Hwange. This team calls themselves Team Number 2 for the reason best known to themselves. This has already divided the Women’s League in the province.”

Indications are that Mathe was not happy about the developments because she wanted to chair the meetings.

“Matabeleland North is a province known for being organised when it comes to factionalism but this time around things are not well. The province is divided. Tryphine Khumalo is expected to take over from Sithembubuhle Sibanda as secretary for administration (provincial) and Sithembubuhle was promised to be promoted to central committee replacing Mail Nkomo,” the source said.

But Mpofu has vehemently dismissed the claims as false.

“It’s all nonsense. I cannot comment on false claims, I don’t know anything about that,” she said.

Zanu-PF national deputy secretary for women’s affairs Angeline Masuku said she was not aware of the developments.

“First, I am in the Bulawayo province not in Umguza. Second, I am the national deputy secretary Women’s League and at the national office, that has not been reported.

That means it’s just for Matabeleland North province,” Masuku said.

Mathe said she was attending a meeting when contacted before promising to respond to questions two to three hours later. But when called later her mobile number was not reachable and she did not respond to questions sent to her mobile number.

Reports at the weekend also suggested that jockeying for provincial posts has reached fever pitch within the governing party in Mashonaland West, where the current Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Mary Mliswa-Chikoka has emerged as a front-runner.

The provincial leadership has since intervened and directed all prospective candidates to stop their political campaigns after aspiring candidates went into overdrive plotting victories in the impending internal elections.

Provincial youth chairperson Vengai Musengi and acting chairperson Abia Mujere are also vying for the highly influential position.

Shortage Of Nursing Staff Haunt ED’s Hometown

By A Correspondent- The City of Kwekwe has reportedly been hit by a shortage of nursing staff following a surge in COVID-19 cases at the city’s clinics and hospitals that has forced most health workers into isolation.

The authorities in the city have now roped in medical personnel from the Zimbabwe Defence Forces to fill in the gap.

Kwekwe district COVID-19 taskforce chairperson Vitalis Kwashira said they were in dire need of health workers after some of them were been forced into isolation.

“We are in dire need of help because some of our nurses have tested positive and we have shortages at clinics,” Kwashira said.

“We also do not have enough staff to conduct the vaccination programmes. We have resolved as a committee to write to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces so that we can get staff if possible.

“We do not have enough isolation centres in Kwekwe. It is like we are breeding the virus at home because people test positive and they get quarantined at home.”

He said they were currently renovating Bale Medical Centre and Kwekwe Infectious Disease Hospital as isolation centres to ease the pressure.

“Some restaurants are now opening, commuter omnibuses are now operating and some beer outlets are opening. This is worrisome and we call for tighter enforcement of regulations to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the city,” he said.

Kwekwe was the first city in the country where the deadly Indian Delta variant of COVID-19 was detected. Government swiftly moved in to declare a localised lockdown in the Midlands city.

Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa revealed after Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting that government would rope in State security agents to expedite rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

Civil Society Unfazed By ED Threats Of De-registration

CIVIC society organisations (CSOs) yesterday said they were unfazed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s threats to deregister them over allegations that they are pursuing a regime change agenda.

On Wednesday, while addressing a Zanu PF politburo meeting, Mnangagwa issued a stern warning to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) accusing them of meddling in the country’s politics.

He said his government would not hesitate to deregister NGOs threatening the sovereignty of the country.

Information ministry secretary Ndavaningi Mangwana took to Twitter to say: “As the election season unfolds, we are observing a notable number of NGOs diverting from their operational mandates to delve into political matters, that amounts to interference in the internal affairs of our sovereign country.”

But yesterday, the NGOs said they were unmoved by Mnangagwa’s threats and would continue to discharge their duties without fear.

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition spokesperson Marvellous Khumalo said CSOs would remain guided by the laws of the country.

“What we will do as CSOs is that we will be guided by the laws of the country,” Khumalo said.

“You would recall that we wrote to Harare provincial development co-ordinator Tafadzwa Muguti requesting that he furnishes us with the pieces of legislation that support his directives because as CSOs, we will be comfortable to do things that are within the confines of the law.

“We don’t want to go outside the provisions of the Constitution and other pieces of legislation.”

He added: “We are not taking it as tough times ahead so far. What these people are saying at this point in time are just threats. We are not inviting sideshows as of now because politicians will always try to possibly distract us from our mandate and scope of work. We will not be drawn in.”

Khumalo said while NGOs appreciated that the statement by Mnangagwa was made while addressing a Zanu PF politburo meeting, they were also a live to the fact that the politburo was not a government structure.

“We wait for further engagements through normal government procedures and we are not worried with what political parties say behind closed doors. We will be guided by the law,” he said.

Political analyst Ashton Bumhira said: “The only way out of this situation is national dialogue to resolve the political and economic crisis affecting the country.

“In Zimbabwe, the social contract is broken and the current government is seeing shadows and is very paranoid. Government is suffering from a deficit of legitimacy from the 2018 disputed elections and from failing to deliver on electoral processes.”

Heal Zimbabwe Trust programmes manager Edknowledge Mandikwaza said NGOs were a critical development partner that complemented government, hence restricting their operations destroyed creativity in addressing the socio-economic challenges facing the country.

“Instead of restricting the civic space, government must appreciate that most social services that it can’t provide are being provided by CSOs that it is intending to criminalise,” Mandikwaza said.

Threats against NGOs started last month when Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba blasted the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, Young Lawyers Association and Law Society of Zimbabwe for launching court challenges against constitutional amendments.

Married Man Bitten By Snake While Having S_ex In The Bush With Married Lover

By A Correspondent- A married man from Gwarimba Village under Chief Chingoma in Mberengwa, Midlands Province appeared to have been severely punished by a deific force after he was allegedly bitten by a snake during a se_x romp in the bush with a married woman.

According to sources, on the fateful day the two lovebirds, Edmore Marongwe and Chiedza Mazvimbakupa, were said to have sneaked out of their homes and met in the bush for an afternoon se_x romp.

It is reported that things took a sinister turn when Marongwe was bitten on the leg by an unknown poisonous snake which was apparently sheltering under their improvised makeshift mat made of tree branches and leaves.

After the attack, the woman ran from the scene in horror shouting for help, attracting the attention of a passersby who quickly rushed to the scene where they found Marongwe, who was dressed only in underwear, writhing in agony.

Three used cond0ms were reportedly discovered close to the love nest suggesting that the pair had ‘‘served’’ each other well.

In a bid to reduce the effect of the snake’s venom, the passersby reportedly administered some herbs on Marongwe.

Although Chief Chingoma, whose jurisdiction the two loverbirds’ area falls under and where the matter is set to be heard could not be reached for comment, a source from the area let slip what transpired.

The source said after Marongwe was found half nak_ed, Mazvimbakupa later confessed that he was bitten by the snake while they were having se_x.

“She begged them not to report her to her husband. She knelt down and begged the passersby to not tell anybody. She said she did not know what had got into her.

“One of the passersby who seemed to have been related to Mazvimbakupa’s husband, however, refused to buy the apology.

“It also later emerged that before they were caught in the act, the two lovebirds were always taking to the bush to satisfy their se_xual urge,” said a source who declined to be named.

After receiving news that his wife was in the habit of dishing out se_x to Marongwe, Mazvimbakupa’s husband reportedly approached Chief Chingoma demanding six herd of cattle as compensation.

When reached for comment Marongwe refused to share his ordeal saying: “This is my personal life and shouldn’t be discussed with newspapers”.

Meanwhile, Mazvimbakupa and her husband could not be reached for comment.

Man Killed Over “Mubobobo”

By A Correspondent- Police in Makosa, a ward in Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland East province are investigating a murder case in which a 29-year-old man, Johane Jambo was allegedly killed by his friend Zviitei Tsigaro (23) who accused him of using juju to be intimate with unsuspecting women in the area.

According to police sources Jambo was drinking beer at Chikonyora bottle store in Mudzi together with his friend Zviitei of Nyamande village, Mudzi when the accused told his friend in a “joking manner” that he uses “mubobobo” to sleep with women.

This enraged the now deceased, resulting in a fight.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachii said when the accused was being overpowered he drew a sharp object and stabbed the now deceased on the upper left thigh.”

He said the suspect is still at large and appealed to members of the public to always respect the sanctity of human life.

Germany Provides Support To Vulnerable Communities

HARARE – The Government of Germany, through the German Federal Foreign Office, has contributed EUR 3 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Zimbabwe to

contribution. The pandemic has exacerbated the food security situation which has been strained for large parts of the population in the past few years. We hope that our contribution will help to
temporarily alleviate the plight of vulnerable groups.”

WFP Zimbabwe Country Director and Representative Francesca Erdelmann said this contribution comes at a time when many are finding it increasingly difficult to put food on the table because of COVID -19.

According to the 2020 Urban Livelihoods Assessment, 2.4 million urban dwellers, or 42% of the total urban population in Zimbabwe, are estimated to be food insecure. While the rural livelihoods assessment estimates 2.9 million that is approximately 27% of the rural households will be food insecure during the peak of lean season (Jan-March 2022).

WFP assists 326,004 people across 23 urban domains until the end of this year, with monthly cash-based transfers via e-voucher and Western Union remittance exchange. Beneficiaries receive USD 12 per person, per month to help meet their basic food needs. Presently WFP is assisting more than 13,500 refugees and through the Lean Season Assistance we aim to support 1 million people at the peak of the lean season.

Mnangagwa made the declaration on Wednesday when he was addressing his party’s politburo meeting.

“Let us remain alive to the machinations by hostile forces and their allies to derail our programmes and projects. We know their form, agenda, strategies and nature. Detractors, sell-outs and their appendages must forever be silenced at the 2023 Harmonised General Elections,” the President said.
Zimbabwe goes to the polls in less than two years time.

Zanu PF said it will have a landslide victory

Embarrassed Bedroom Pest Mohadi Emerges From Hibernation

By A Correspondent- Former Vice President Kembo Mohadi who has been hiding for months after being exposed for having sexual relations with married subordinates has resurfaced.

Mohadi was seen at the Zanu PF politburo meeting on Wednesday where he parroted his Boss Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“A leader without vision is not a leader,” he said. “Our President, His Excellency ED Mnangagwa, came up with Vision 2030, so we need to engage in programmes which allow us to attain upper-middle-income status by 2030.
“To achieve this vision, let’s not leave anyone behind until we achieve what we want to achieve. His Excellency wants us to engage in programmes that improve the generality of our people,” said the embarrassed looking Mohadi.

Highlanders Hit By Financial Crisis?

HIGHLANDERS’ players are yet to get their June pay, the club and players have confirmed.

There are also no indications when the players will be paid, as the executive is still scrounging for funding.

“We are still to get our June salaries; the club keeps saying coffers are dry. We hear they are running around, but we don’t know when they will get joy. The situation is now dire for most of us,” said one player who spoke to Chronicle Sport.

His version was corroborated by other players.

Club spokesperson Ronald Moyo also confirmed that the players were yet to be paid their June salaries.

“The players haven’t been paid (the June salaries),” said Moyo.

With no principal sponsor since the withdrawal of NetOne last year, Bosso have been living from hand to mouth through the benevolence of well-wishers.

Early last month, Bosso players boycotted training at White City Stadium’s B arena demanding that the club addresses their salary adjustment demand.

They refused to train and threatened not to fulfil a Chibuku Super Cup game against Bulawayo City.

Last week the players stormed the club’s offices along Robert Mugabe Way and forced a meeting with chairman Johnfat Sibanda and chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube over delayed June salaries and adjustments.

Moyo said the club was fully engaged and committed to ensuring the salary issue is permanently addressed as part of its mandate of meeting its obligations to its employees.- Chronicle

Man Threatens To Kill Granny At Birthday Bash

Man Relieves Self In Blankets After Being Denied S*x By Wife

Parirenyatwa Group Of Hospitals Now Administering COVID-19 Jab On First-come, First-serve Basis

We would like to inform members of the public that we have stopped the booking system which the hospital had introduced to manage the huge numbers of people who came to be vaccinated.

Prior to the 9th of July 2021, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals was one of the only 2 vaccination centres in the Greater Harare. This posed a number of challenges especially in the management of crowds.

Following the decentralization of the vaccination program to local clinics under the City of Harare, we are now administering the jabs on a first-come, first-serve basis. We now expect reasonable numbers of people to come to our hospital and encourage the public to get vaccinated at their local clinics.

We have also come across media articles claiming that our security personnel are getting paid by some members of the public in return for preferential treatment. We would like to reiterate that the hospital is against any form of corruption and notices to that effect are all over the hospital urging members of the public to report any form of corruption by any of our staff members. We have not received any report of corruption against our security personnel controlling queues at the vaccination centre.

However, anyone who has encountered such unscrupulous behavior is free to report to the police or to the hospital management.

Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals has zero-tolerance to corruption and remains committed to providing professional services to our clients and stakeholders…

MDC Alliance Denounces Eviction Of Chipinge Villagers

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly has vowed to stop the seizure of land belonging to Chipinge villagers by Billy Rautenbach.

The MDC Alliance has described the move as “madness”

Read statement below:

Chinyamukwakwa Madness Must Stop!

15-07-2021

Imagine whole African families living peacefully in their communal lands and suddenly a crude European capitalist with a forged citizenship comes and push them away from their ancestral lands in the name of pursuing a ‘a Green Fuel project’.

This sounds like a story from the colonial era after the arrival of the Pioneer Column when blacks were forcibly stripped of their land by European colonialists.

No! This is not retelling of a colonial story. This is actually happening right in our times in Chinyamukwakwa communal lands in Chipinge.

A crude and ruthless capitalist by the name Billy Rautenbach is destroying crops of the villagers just before harvest to pursue his Green Fuel project whose interests have nothing to do with the locals.

This is not the first time that this white crook has clashed with locals over their land. Those in Joshua Nkomo Cooperative in Harare near Kambuzuma will testify how this white guy is pushing so hard to have their homes destroyed in order to pursue his parochial interests.

In Masvingo, in Mwenezi’s Naunetsi Range this fellow owns vast tracks of land, some which is lying idle.

Rautenbach’s thirst for acquiring land is just unquenchable. Just like his forefather Cecil Rhodes who wanted to own the whole of Africa through his private BSA Company, Rautenbach dreams to occupy the whole of this country through his private Green Fuel company.

The grave quietness of Emmerson Mnangagwa and his government on Chinyamukwakwa land saga is loud enough to confirm our fears.

It is clear Rautenbach is working in cahoots with ZANU PF top officials to drive black Africans off their land.

If this ZANU PF government is genuine about the land question, then the madness in Chinyamukwakwa must stop!

Indeed we are in a season of defiance.

Chipanga Bootlicks Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent- Former Zanu PF national secretary for youth affairs, Kudzi Chipanga, has bootlicked President Mnangagwa for forgiving him and readmitting him in the Zanu PF party.

Chipanga was readmitted into the party yesterday after serious deliberations by Zanu PF.

His readmission was on condition that he does not contest an election for three years, as he reverts to being an ordinary card-carrying member.
He was readmitted alongside former war veterans’ leader, James Kaunye, ex-Zanu PF councillor Taurai Chiripamberi, Talent Kadzima and Nesbert Chasara.
Since his expulsion in 2017, Chipanga shunned opposition politics and has always been begging for re-admission back into the party.
“I would like to thank President Mnangagwa and the ruling party for finally accepting my application to rejoin the party. As you are aware, I have been applying for the past four years seeking readmission, and now that my wish has been granted, I will abide by the conditions attached to it. I will work vigorously, in conjunction with my cell leadership, for the betterment of the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
“I also want to thank the party leadership from Manicaland for the confidence they have shown in me,” said Chipanga.
Chiripamberi, who expelled himself when he contested as an independent candidate in Headlands constituency in 2018, had this to say: “I now understand that patriotism and ideology cannot be compromised. Now I got the chance to tell my generation that it is cold out there. My readmission elucidates a new journey guided by party ideology and principles.”

Mnangagwa Boiling To Jump Into SA Violent Situation

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has signaled he is boiling to see peace prevailing in South Africa.

Mnangagwa has expressed his wish for the unrest to be resolved as soon as possible to ensure continued stability in the region.

Speaking at Zanu-PF’s 353rd Ordinary session of the Politburo in Harare Wednesday, Mnangagwa said there was a need to ensure peace and stability in South Africa.

Addressing the media after the Politburo indaba, the party spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo said Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Frederick Shava briefed the meeting on the situation in South Africa.

“It was pleasing to note to a larger extent that the situation in South Africa is still within the capacity of our fraternal friends, the African National Congress party and its government, to resolve and hopefully quell the chaos which has been reported in various media platforms.

“We are confident that our colleagues in South Africa will overcome this challenge,” said Khaya Moyo

Ramaphosa Unleashes 25 000 Soldiers On Rioting Citizens

By A Correspondent- The South African government is set to deploy 25 000 soldiers to counter riots sparked by the jailing of former President Jacob Zuma.

At least 117 people have died and more than 2,000 have been arrested in South Africa’s worst unrest in years.

Hundreds of shops and businesses have been looted and the government says it is acting to prevent food shortages.

Citizens are arming themselves and forming vigilante groups to protect their property from the rampage.

More than 200 incidents of looting and vandalism were recorded on Wednesday, the government said, as the number of troops deployed doubled to 5,000.

But Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula said she had submitted a request for the deployment of 25,000 soldiers to the two provinces hit by violence – KwaZulu-Natal, where Durban is located, and Gauteng, which includes Johannesburg.

Zimbabwe’s Covid-19 Response Is The Best In Africa”: Bragged Zanu Pf – Damned Lie And An Insult

By Patrick Guramatunhu- “Despite Zimbabwe’s COVID-19 response being one of the best on the continent as evidenced by fewer deaths and infections as compared to other nations, for government, a single death is one too many,” said information minister, Monica Mutsvangwa.

This is just an insult and one thing I hate above all others is being taken for a fool!

The Zimbabwe government announces there were 2 661 new corona virus cases and 51 deaths bringing the total number of cases and deaths to 76 381 and 2332 respectively since the outbreak of the corona virus in March 2020. If this was true, then our hospitals and clinics will not the overwhelms and the graveyards looking like freshly ploughed fields with new graves.

Zimbabwe’s official covid-19 figures have remained low because the country has not followed the WHO and common-sense recommendation of testing, tracing, tracking and isolating. It is common knowledge that Zimbabwe has deliberately and consistently carried out the fewest covid-19 tests per capita even at a time when the is a significant surge in the covid-19 cases.

In December last year for example, when there was a significant number of corona virus cases in both SA and Zimbabwe; whilst SA was carrying out over 44 000 test per day, Zimbabwe with ¼ SA’s population should have been doing over 11 000 test per day. We were doing 1 500, maximum!

If you were not tested for corona virus then you will never be counted as a corona virus case or death. So, the fewer the tests the fewer the official figure of covid-19; it sounds cynical because it is cynical.

The nation has paid dearly for the bragging rights of “Zimbabwe’s COVID-19 response being one of the best on the continent as evidenced by fewer deaths and infections as compared to other nations!” By failing to carry out the tests, the nation could not carry through the follow up activities of tracing, tracking and isolation. And so many individuals who should have been in isolation were left to mix and mingle with the rest spreading the virus far and wide and fast!

There is no such thing as good time for a disease outbreak much less a pandemic; this corona virus has happened at the worst time for Zimbabwe. The outbreak occurred at a time when the country’s economy is in total meltdown and its health care service has all but collapsed after decades of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption and, to crown it all, the nation was still stuck with the corrupt and dysfunctional government.

Ever since the country attained her independence in 1980, over 40 years ago; Zimbabweans have known the country’s ruling elite were corrupt, incompetent and murderous tyrants who rigged elections to stay in power. The nation has had a number of golden opportunities notably during the 2008 to 2013 GNU to end the Zanu PF dictatorship but wasted them all.

In the long run, nations get the government the deserve. We in Zimbabwe certainly deserve this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship complete with its entourage of equally corrupt and utterly useless opposition parties, all 130 of them at the last count.

There is no denying if the corona virus pandemic had happened before independence or some thereafter when Zimbabwe’s economic and health care service were robust and strong, the nation will have fared a lot better than it is doing right now – forget the official covid-19 figures there are lies and an insult!

The corona virus storm is not over and no one knows how long it will last. Whilst we mourn and bury our died, we must remember the worst of this catastrophe could have been avoided if only we, the people of Zimbabwe, had taken our duty to ensure the country had competent and accountable government with the seriousness and urgency the matter demanded. And, more significantly, reflect on what we must do now to finally put an end to the tragic human suffering and deaths that will continue as long as we have a corrupt, tyrannical, vote rigging and utterly useless government.

The Zanu PF government has already started rigging the 2023 elections by arrogantly announcing that 3 million plus Zimbabweans in the diaspora will once again be denied the vote. How can the elections be legal, free, fair and credible when 30% of the electorate are denied the vote for no other reason than that Zanu PF does not trust them to vote for the party and it has no opportunity to rig the vote?

It is incumbent on all Zimbabweans to ensure all democratic reforms are implemented to guarantee free and fair elections. Zanu PF and it’s acolyte MDC opposition are gearing for the 2023 elections to proceed with no reforms, knowing fully well the elections will be rigged. It is our duty to make sure the elections are legal, free, fair and credible.

The Zimbabwe ravaged by corona virus whilst the government of the day insults us by falsifying the seriousness of the pandemic and our suffering and deaths is NOT the Zimbabwe we want. And it is high time we demanded the Zimbabwe we, the people, want.

In Zimbabwe it is the ruling elite, tail that has been wagging the dog; that must change, it is the people who must call the shots. “Nyika vanhu!” (It is the ordinary people who constitute a nation!) as one would say in Shona.

ZIFA Unhappy With Warriors Performance At COSAFA Tournament

ZIFA board member Bryton Malandule says the association expected the Warriors to be competitive at the Cosafa Cup, despite the regional showpiece being a developmental tournament.

Zdravko Logarusic’s charges put on a disastrous show in Port Elizabeth, and were eliminated without a single victory, a situation which has once again put the Croat’s position under scrutiny.

Logarusic belittled the importance of the tournament and suggested that it was just a developmental one but Malandule insists the team ought to have fared better regardless.

“Obviously, our objective as a board when we enter any tournament, be it COSAFA, CHAN or AFCON, we do not do so to go and fail, irrespective of the type of players, representing us,” Malandule told The Herald.

“Of course, a tournament like COSAFA is for developmental players but we expect the team to be competitive.

“If you look at the whole scenario, it’s not Zimbabwe alone who are fielding developmental sides.

“So, we expect the players selected to form a team that is strong enough to go and win the tournament, because we have guys playing in South Africa and Zambia.
“We had some guys, who featured in the Chibuku Super Cup, and the tournament was a chance for them as well.

“It is only fair that, as a board, we don’t interfere with the selection of the players. It’s the mandate of the technical team and we trust them to come up with a competitive team.

“As a board, the objective is to win and at the same time developing. Development, yes, but we expected more in terms of performance than what actually transpired,” he added.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Confirmed:Admiral Muskwe Leaves Leicester City

Warriors striker Admiral Muskwe has left Leicester City to join English Championship side Luton Town on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old is leaving the Foxes after twelve and was a prominent feature in the club’s Under-18s and Under-23s teams.

He was named the Leicester’s Academy Player of the Season in 2016.

The transfer marks Muskwe’s return to the English Championship after spending a six-month loan spell with the now-relegated sign Wycombe Wanderers last season.

Speaking on the signing of the player, Luton manager Nathan Jones said: “We are delighted to have signed another player who has been a target for a while. We saw what a threat Ade can be when we came up against him at Wycombe last season. He’s gained valuable experience of the Championship from his time there.

“Coming from a wonderful club like Leicester, he has great pedigree and his arrival adds quality right across the front three as he can play numerous roles. Having beaten a number of other teams to his signature, we can’t wait to get working with him.”

Leicester City’s statement on Muskwe’s departure

Young Leicester City striker Admiral Muskwe has joined Sky Bet Championship side Luton Town in a permanent deal, subject to Football League approval.

Logarusic Here To Stay – Report

Zdravko Logarusic is set to continue as Warriors coach despite the calls for his sacking as the Zimbabwe Football Association feels there are extenuating circumstances which have caused the national team’s poor performance.

The ZIFA board is expected to meet soon to evaluate the Warriors performance in the past matches but according to inside sources, Logarusic is not going to be sacked.

Sources say although the ZIFA board is sympathising with the fans over the COSAFA Cup results, they feel that some of the calls are emotional and would not want repeat the past mistake when they gave in to pressure and let go Joey Antipas after just a few matches in charge in 2019.

” ZIFA are not going to bow down to pressure to fire Logarusic because they gave him set targets when he got the job and he has accomplished one of the mandates,” said a source at ZIFA.

” His first mandate was to see that the Warriors qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations and he did. The defeat against Zambia was expected as he was mandated to use that game to start building the team by giving a run to fringe players. Look the team has reached the ceiling very soon the likes of Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat will be gone and there is need to look for new stars to take over in future.”

” The COSAFA Cup was not one of the targets because its a developmental tournament so that performance is not going to cost the coach his job. The main target for the coach is to go beyond the group stages at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January. Should he fail that’s when he is going to be fired.”

ZIFA board member, and chairman of the Technical and Development Committee, Bryton Malandule was quoted in the media saying that the ZIFA board was going to meet to deliberate on the Warriors performance at the COSAFA Cup but preempted that it is not going to be about firing Logarusic.

Contrary to media reports, Logarusic is still contracted beyond 2022.

MDC Alliance Vows To Stop Seizure Of Communal Land By Mnangagwa Top Ally

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Youth Assembly has vowed to stop the seizure of land belonging to Chipinge villagers by Billy Rautenbach.

Rautenbach has given a notice of eviction to Chipinge villages as he seeks to create space for his ethanol project.

“You Are The Most Dangerous Pandemic. Who Voted For You Puppet?”: Chin’ono Tears Into Mwonzora

By A Correspondent- Journalist Hoepwell Chin’ono has torn into MDC T leader Douglas Mwonzora describing him as the most dangerous pandemic to ever happen for Zimbabwe.

He was responding to Mwonzora’s tweet where he warned communities against the covid-19 pandemic saying:

“The covid-19 is really ravaging our communities and a lot more needs to be done. Our people must be vaccinated. We reiterate that this is an international pandemic that must never be politicised.”

Chin’ono however responded to Mwonzora and said:

“You are the most dangerous pandemic. Who voted for you puppet?”

“Learners Assessment Won’t Work. Simple”: Teachers

By A Correspondent- Teachers here have called on government to shelve its ambitious continous students assessment arguing that the system will not work owing to the schools closure and teachers incapacitation.

Said the Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe in a statement:

“With schools still closed until at least 26 July by government projections and at least 15 August by ours, we call on ZimSec and the ministry of primary and secondary education to suspend the ambitious continous assessment. It wont work. Learners need to cover the syllabuses and teachers are disgruntled.”
