Ngarivhume Is Not A Criminal- MDC Alliance

Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader, Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa is under relentless pressure to release jailed political activists.

The MDC Alliance has vowed to push the regime to release jailed political and human rights activists.

The vibrant movement also appealed to international human rights organizations to act on the crisis in Zimbabwe.

The arrest of Jacob Ngarivhume constitutes an arbitrary deprivation of political liberty to Social Transformers , Mdc Alliance Namibia fumes!

06 April 2021

Mdc Alliance Namibia appeals to The African Charter on Human and People’s Rights , 1981, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948 and The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights ,1966 to intervene in Zimbabwe as way of defending human freedoms and security.

Mdc Alliance deputy Chairperson Hon Job SaroWiwa Sikhala confirmed the arbitrary arrest of Transform Zimbabwe and founder of the July Movement, Jacob Ngarivhume.

Regardless of his notification to carry out a clean-up exercise in one of Harare’s old high density suburb of Mbare. The captured law enforcement agents turned his application down but Ngarivhume defied the notice and proceeded to pick up litter at Mbare Msika.

In barring him, the Zanupf-controlled police claimed that the ardent opposition leader had waved placards with political messages in a previous clean up campaign. It is quite pathetic to learn that communicating political messages is now a crime in a purported new ‘dispensation’.

As a district, we call upon regional and international legal instruments to aid us in our fight against Zanupf’s appetite to muzzle democratic space through persecution by prosecution.

The presence of a heavily armed Anti-riot police in Mbare Tuesday morning to obstruct Ngarivhume and his determined team’s cleaning blitz is a demonstration of the levels of Fascism in the desperate Zanupf outfit.

It is sarcastic to arrest a social transformer for picking up litter in the neighborhood, Zanupf represents a hybrid dictatorship.

Moreover, in the course of such arbitrary and unlawful deprivations of liberty, the detainees are frequently also deprived access both to lawyers and family ,basic health rights and also subjected to torture, harassment and other forms of inhuman treatment from partisan prison guards and police. It has been unearthed when Hon Joana Mamombe was denied medical attention when she was withdrawn from hospital even if our leader was in agony. Mdc Alliance Namibia supposes that it is fundamental , therefore, that the legal rules that exist in international law to remedy and prevent these kinds of basic human rights violations be adhered to by independent national judges and prosecutors , and that lawyers are aware of their contents ,to enable them to act effectively on behalf of their clients.

In a nutshell, Mdc Alliance Namibia demands the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners in the names of the illegally convicted Cde Makomborero Haruzivishe, Jacob Ngarivhume, Lengwani, Munyaradzi, Last Maengahama, Tungamirai Madzokere, only to mention but a few. We urge the thugocratic Zanupf regime to stop the gross abuse of human rights through abductions, disappearances, torture and long pre-trial detentions. Citizens Convergence for Change is the only panacea to socio-economic transformation. Citizens must converge to confront Zanupf dictatorship to promote comprehensive political and electoral reforms, respect of the rule of law and Constitutionalism as well as economic transformation.

Man Axes Wife

FOR several years she has stayed with her husband, not because she wants to, but because she has no option.
Gertrude Dube from Sigola Village made shocking revelations that her husband Mxolisi Dube disciplines her with an axe.

Whenever they have misunderstandings Mxolisi reportedly beats her using the handle of the axe then threatens to use the axe to kill her, forcing her to behave in a manner that pleases him.

The issue came to light after Mxolisi axed Gertrude on her left leg and she had to be rushed to hospital for treatment.

“The risk of death was high in her case because she was bleeding profusely. The fact that death did not occur was entirely a matter of good fortune and we are glad the incident was reported to the police,” said a relative privy to the issue.

The village head of the area, Mehluli Ndlovu confirmed the case.

“Gertrude stays with her husband and two children in their homestead. We were scared because the husband is very violent. Recently he axed Gertrude and as we speak, she is in hospital,” said Ndlovu.

He added: “Mxolisi was always fighting with neighbours and he also threatened to kill people. Since he was in the habit of threatening to kill everyone it’s a relief he got arrested.”- B-Metro

Mwonzora Silences Top Aides

By A Correspondent- MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe, and party chairperson Morgen Komichi, and several top executives are in the line of fire by their President, Douglas Mwonzora after they insisted that he accounts for the $6 million illegally withdrawn from party coffers ahead of the party’s extraordinary congress in December last year.

According to NewsDay, the resolution to purge defiant executives was read out to Khupe and her team on Wednesday this week following a national standing committee meeting held two weeks ago.

A party insider is quoted as saying the resolution was smuggled as a way of bringing cohesion in the party cockpit and ensuring that the top leaders do not seem to be working against each other.

The Mwonzora camp wants Khupe, Komichi and Ndlovu to withdraw affidavits with the police but Khupe reportedly insisted that Mwonzora should come out clean on the matter.

However, MDC-T presidential spokesperson Lloyd Damba denied reports of a looming purge, saying the party was simply working towards cohesion.

MDC-T activist Patson Murimoga who recently mobilised for demonstrations against Mwonzora, on Thursday claimed on social media that he had been fired from the party for refusing to withdraw theft charges against Mwonzora. He said:

People of Zimbabwe, I want you to know that on April 14, MDC-T as a party made a resolution that all leaders who gave statements to the police over the $6 million stolen by Mwonzora should go back and withdraw the statements.

Failure of which they said the youth assembly will deal with us. Right now, I have received a letter firing me from the party because I refused to go and withdraw my statement.

MDC-T spokesperson Witness Dube yesterday dismissed Murimoga’s claims, describing him as “a stranded horse, voiced lamp post, tortoise singing for supper” who should focus on rebuilding his musical career.

WHO Authorizes Sinopharm COVID-19 Vaccine For Emergency Use | FULL TEXT

Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

The World Health organisation, WHO today listed the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use, giving the green light for this vaccine to be rolled out globally. The Sinopharm vaccine is produced by Beijing Bio-Institute of Biological Products Co Ltd, subsidiary of China National Biotec Group (CNBG).

“The addition of this vaccine has the potential to rapidly accelerate COVID-19 vaccine access for countries seeking to protect health workers and populations at risk,” said Dr Mariângela Simão, WHO Assistant-Director General for Access to Health Products. “We urge the manufacturer to participate in the COVAX Facility and contribute to the goal of more equitable vaccine distribution.”

WHO’s Emergency Use Listing (EUL) is a prerequisite for COVAX Facility vaccine supply. It also allows countries to expedite their own regulatory approval to import and administer COVID-19 vaccines.

The EUL assesses the quality, safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, as well as risk management plans and programmatic suitability, such as cold chain requirements. The assessment is performed by the product evaluation group, composed by regulatory experts from around the world and a Technical Advisory Group (TAG), in charge of performing the risk-benefit assessment for an independent recommendation on whether a vaccine can be  listed for emergency use and, if so, under which conditions.

In the case of the Sinopharm vaccine, the WHO assessment included on-site inspections of the production facility.

The Sinopharm product is an inactivated vaccine called SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine (Vero Cell). Its easy storage requirements make it highly suitable for low-resource settings. It is the also first vaccine that will carry a vaccine vial monitor, a small sticker on the vaccine vials that change color as the vaccine is exposed to heat, letting health workers know whether the vaccine can be safely used.

WHO’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) has also completed its review of the vaccine. On the basis of all available evidence, WHO recommends the vaccine for adults 18 years and older, in a two-dose schedule with a spacing of three to four weeks. Vaccine efficacy for symptomatic and hospitalized disease was estimated to be 79%, all age groups combined.

Few older adults (over 60 years) were enrolled in clinical trials, so efficacy could not be estimated in this age group.  Nevertheless, WHO is not recommending an upper age limit for the vaccine because preliminary data and supportive immunogenicity data suggest the vaccine is likely to have a protective effect in older persons.  There is no theoretical reason to believe that the vaccine has a different safety profile in older and younger populations.  WHO therefore recommends that countries using the vaccine in older age groups conduct safety and effectiveness monitoring to make the recommendation more robust.

WHO emergency use listing

The emergency use listing (EUL) procedure assesses the suitability of novel health products during public health emergencies. The objective is to make medicines, vaccines and diagnostics available as rapidly as possible to address the emergency, while adhering to stringent criteria of safety, efficacy and quality. The assessment weighs the threat posed by the emergency as well as the benefit that would accrue from the use of the product against any potential risks.

The EUL pathway involves a rigorous assessment of late phase II and phase III clinical trial data as well as substantial additional data on safety, efficacy, quality and a risk management plan. These data are reviewed by independent experts and WHO teams who consider the current body of evidence on the vaccine under consideration, the plans for monitoring its use, and plans for further studies.

As part of the EUL process, the company producing the vaccine must commit to continue to generate data to enable full licensure and WHO prequalification of the vaccine. The WHO prequalification process will assess additional clinical data generated from vaccine trials and deployment on a rolling basis to ensure the vaccine meets the necessary standards of quality, safety and efficacy for broader availability.

WHO also listed the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for emergency use on 31 December 2020; two AstraZeneca/Oxford COVID-19 vaccines on 15 February 2021, produced by AstraZeneca-SKBio (Republic of Korea) and the Serum Institute of India; and COVID-19 vaccine Ad26.COV2.S developed by Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) on 12 March 2021.

ICC Sentences Uganda’s Ongwen To 25 Years Imprisonment | FULL TEXT

Dominic Ongwen sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment.

International Criminal Court in The Hague- FILE
The Chamber found him guilty for a total of 61 crimes comprising crimes against humanity and war crimes
THE HAGUE, Netherlands, May 6, 2021/ — Today, 6 May 2021, Trial Chamber IX of the International Criminal Court (“ICC” or “Court”) sentenced (https://bit.ly/3vFojXc) Dominic Ongwen to 25 years of imprisonment following the Trial Judgment (https://bit.ly/33rpsW9) in which the Chamber found him guilty for a total of 61 crimes comprising crimes against humanity and war crimes, committed in Northern Uganda between 1 July 2002 and 31 December 2005. The period of his detention between 4 January 2015 and 6 May 2021, will be deducted from the total time of imprisonment imposed on him. The sentence may be appealed before the ICC Appeals Chamber by either party to the proceedings.

Judge Bertram Schmitt, Presiding Judge, read a summary of the Chamber’s decision (https://bit.ly/33mXV8l). He highlighted that the Chamber was confronted in the present case with a unique situation. It is confronted with a perpetrator who wilfully and lucidly brought tremendous suffering upon his victims. However, it is also confronted with a perpetrator who himself had previously endured extreme suffering himself at the hands of the group of which he later became a prominent member and leader.

The Chamber decided to give certain weight in mitigation to the circumstances of Dominic Ongwen’s childhood, his abduction by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) at a very young age and his early stay with the LRA.

The Chamber rejected the Defence’s arguments, recalling its analysis of evidence in the Judgment issued on 4 February 2021, and considered that the mitigating circumstances of substantially diminished mental capacity and duress are not applicable.

The Chamber also rejected the arguments of the Defence concerning traditional justice mechanisms, noting that there exists no possibility under the Statute to replace a term of imprisonment with traditional justice mechanisms, or to incorporate traditional justice mechanisms into the sentence in any other way.  It also noted that Acholi traditional justice mechanisms are not in widespread use, to the extent that they would replace formal justice, and that they are reserved to members of the Acholi community, meaning that their use would mean that some victims belonging to other ethnic groups would be excluded. The Chamber emphasised that reconciliation, whatever its form, is a process in which victim participation is essential, and noted that it is clear that many victims of the crimes committed by Dominic Ongwen do not support the idea of traditional justice in the present case, and that they have also criticised the fact that submissions in this regard were made to the Chamber without consulting them.

The Chamber analysed one-by-one the gravity of each of the 61 crimes for which Dominic Ongwen was convicted, finding several aggravating circumstances applicable to some or even most crimes. Aggravating circumstances included particular cruelty, multiplicity of victims, the victims being particularly defenceless, and discrimination on political grounds and discrimination against women. The Chamber imposed individual sentences for each crime, taking the mitigating circumstance of Dominic Ongwen’s childhood and abduction by the LRA into due account. The highest individual sentences were of 20 years. Other sentences pronounced for individual crimes were of 14 or 8 years of imprisonment.

In its determination of the joint sentence for all the crimes for which Dominic Ongwen was convicted, the Chamber declined to sentence Dominic Ongwen to life imprisonment, considering his individual circumstances and in order to envisage a concrete prospect for Dominic Ongwen to eventually re-build his life.

The Chamber then, by majority, decided to impose a joint sentence of 25 years of imprisonment. The Majority, composed of Judge Bertram Schmitt and Judge Péter Kovács, is of the view that this joint sentence adequately reflects the strongest condemnation by the international community of the crimes committed by Dominic Ongwen and acknowledges the great harm and suffering caused to the victims. At the same time, the Majority held that such a joint sentence acknowledges Dominic Ongwen’s unique personal history and safeguards the prospect of his successful social rehabilitation and, consequently, the concrete possibility of future re-integration into society. Judge Raul Cano Pangalangan appended a partly dissenting opinion on this matter as he would have sentenced Dominic Ongwen to a total period of imprisonment of 30 years.

The Chamber also issued today an order for submissions on reparations (https://bit.ly/3b9oYbM). It emphasised that the right of victims to reparations is also an essential part of the system of justice at the Court, and stated that it will push forward the reparation stage of the proceedings with vigour and the utmost care.

Joy As Government Lifts MSU Media & Society Studies Program Ban

By A Correspondent-Government has lifted the suspension on the Midlands State University’s Media and Society Studies degree.

In a notice to all Media studies students this week, MSU deputy registrar for academic affairs a Mr K Mudzingwa, said the suspended program now starts on May 17, 2021, and had been moved to the ghost town of Zvishavane.

In November last the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) suspended the MSU’s Media and Society Degree program citing what it called lack of innovative skills in its curriculum.

ZIMCHE, did this without consulting the MSU Media and Society Studies Department, forcing academics to believe that it was a political move aimed at returning the program to the University of Zimbabwe, even though the learning institution (UZ) does not have qualified personnel to teach the program.

CSOs Line Up Series Of Protests Against Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent- The Zimbabwe Human Rights Association, the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum, Zimbabwe Peace Project have lined up series of protests against the recent amendment of the country’s constitution by Zanu PF.

“May 4, 2021, was a tragic day for Zimbabwe as the Upper House passed Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 2, a deadly blow to constitutionalism in Zimbabwe,” ZimRights director Dzikamai Bere said.

“It is all dusted and done. All the work done between 2008 and 2013 by millions of Zimbabweans is being destroyed by a few selfish politicians. The pain is unbearable but our spirits are indomitable.”

In a statement, the human rights and democracy lobby groups said the rally would be a platform for citizens to respond to the actions of their representatives.

“We are inviting you all to the first of many #ResistDictatorship actions. We are going to speak out against the ongoing nonsense,” part of the statement released this week read.

“We must commit to saying enough is enough and citizens will be at the forefront of this action, the action that will not end until constitutionalism is restored in this country.”

Constitutional Amendment No 2 Bill was passed despite the displeasure expressed by citizens during public hearings.

Mutambara Hints On Series Of Anti-Mnangagwa Protests

By James Gwati- Former Deputy, Priminister Professor, Arthur Mutambara has urged the public to organise mass protests against Zanu PF for engineering constitutional amendments that have sailed through the Senate.

Senate on Tuesday passed the controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill No 2 with 65 votes in favour of the mutilation of the Constitution adopted in 2013 through a popular referendum vote while 10 voted against it.

The Bill went through after three senators from the Douglas Mwonzora-led MDC-T — Piniel Denga, Morgan Femai and Jane Chifamba — voted alongside Zanu PF, which needed only one vote to achieve a two-thirds majority.

The amendments include a provision for the scrapping of the running mate clause, which was supposed to come into effect in 2023 and another giving Mnangagwa unbridled power to appoint judges without subjecting them to public interviews, among others.

Mutambara on his Twitter handle called for political action to stop the constitutional changes.

“Amendment No 2: the fightback (1) legal action against Amendment No 1, (2) legal action against Amendment No 2, (3) stop further constitutional changes and stop Patriotic Bill, (4) political mobilisation against the two amendments, (5) make the two amendments an election issue for 2023 (make Zanu PF pay politically), (6) devise a strategy to stop Zanu PF 2/3 majority in 2023 — focus intensely on parliamentary seats, not just the presidency and (7) improve the quality of opposition (presidency and Parliament) candidates by putting a premium on (a) meritocracy, (b) technical competence, (c) proven capabilities, (d) ethical leadership, (e) strategic thinking, and (f) a track record of measurable achievements,” he

said.

Outrage As Mnangagwa Appoints Women-Abuser Obert Gutu To Lead National Reconciliation Commission

Mnangagwa celebrates Obert Gutu – file

The ZANU PF leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa has moved to swear six new National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) commissioners.

The six who include the controversial former MDC renegade Obert Gutu were sworn into office at State House on Friday.

Gutu is among five others who are:
Donwell Dube
Tinashe Rukuni
Chiropafadzo Moyo
Josephine Shambare
Nomaqhawe Gwere

Gutu was once the MDC national spokesperson. He also deputized ZANU PF Secretary for Legal Affairs Patrick Chinamasa during the government of national unity between 2009 and 2013, when he served as Deputy Justice Minister.

Gutu who quit the MDC-T party in 2018 soon after the death of its leader Morgan Tsvangirai, had joined Thokozani Khupe’s MDC faction, only to exit a few months later citing “personal and private reasons.”

It was at that time speculated that he was going to be appointed an ambassador, which did not happen.

2021 was the year of reality when Gutu together with former MDC Senator James Makore appeared at State House announcing that they have joined the ruling ZANU PF party.

The lawyer has several complaints against his name over abusing women, and in one of them, he published unprintable words against a female Zimbabweans university lecturer.

Sodomy Court Case, Chirambadare Freed On Bail

By A Correspondent- High Court Judge Justice Webster Chinamora has freed Dynomos legend Stanley Chirambadare, on $5000-00 bail pending trial.

Through his lawyer Mr Knowledge Maeresara, Chirambadare yesterday successfully applied for bail .

The judge granted the application by the ex-footballer with the consent of both the defence and prosecution counsel.

He was ordered to deposit $5 000 with the Clerk of Court at Harare magistrates’ courts.

As part of his bail conditions, Chirambadare is required to reside at his given address until the matter is finalised.

He is also required to report at Kuwadzana Police Station once every month and not to interfere with witnesses.

Charges against Chirambadare arose after he allegedly sexually abused a teenage boy at his soccer academy in Mufakose.

He allegedly lured the boy using sweets.

It is alleged that sometime in March, the teenage boy visited Chirambadare at his residence along Mukonono Road in Mufakose where he wanted to clean his house in return for sweets.

The boy used to visit Chirambadare’s place in the company of his friend, but on the day in question, he went alone.

After cleaning the house, Chirambadare allegedly called the boy inside the house where he said he wanted to give him sweets.

The State further alleged that when the boy entered the house, Chirambadare seized him before sexually abusing him.

The ex-footballer is alleged to have gone on to threaten the boy with death if he divulged what had happened to anyone.

Later on, the boy started developing piles and told his uncle, leading to Chirambadare’s arrest.

Latest Arrests of Zimbabwe Political Activists: A JOC Meeting Follow Up

By A Correspondent| The latest arrests of opposition political activists by the Mnangagwa regime is a follow up to a leaked security and intelligence document that revealed how he is plotting to silence perceived political opponents.

The plan targets mostly Zimbabweans within and outside the country and has seen some of the most vocal activists being detained and denied bail at the courts.

The document, based on the minutes of a Joint Operations Command (JOC) meeting compiled on August 20 last year and was copied to directors of the Zimbabwe Military Intel Corps (MIC), Air Force of Zimbabwe Intelligent Corps, Police Intelligence and Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZCPS) Intel, revealed names of individuals who were under constant surveillance for allegedly working against and sabotaging the government.

“Following a JOC meeting on August 10, 2020 on the backdrop of ongoing incessant attacks on the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe … Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, the ruling party Zanu PF and the government of Zimbabwe by malcontents in Zimbabwe and in the diaspora who are working in cahoots with our erstwhile colonizers to destabilise Zimbabwe and pave way for an illegal regime change, it is hereby directed that all security services be on high alert and reinvigorate efforts to stop this growing anti-government campaign.

“This has reached a tipping point, therefore, those spearheading the campaigns should be tracked down, arrested and brought before the courts of justice. The campaigns are not only meant to foment violence and sabotage government ongoing efforts to revive the economy, but to subvert a constitutionally-elected government and replace it with foreign-funded opposition political parties. This is a direct assault on our national defence and security system. It has been established that the under-listed persons comprising opposition politicians, former Zanu PF members, ex-security services members, media personnel, activists, among others, have become security threats bent on soiling the image of Zimbabwe.” read the document.

Among those targeted are journalists Hopewell Chin’ono, Lance Guma, Mduduzi Mathuthu, Edmund Kudzayi and Simba Chikanza. Chin’ono has been arrested several times on flimsy charges while Guma and Chikanza are in the diaspora.

Political activists based outside the country remain at large. Appearing on the wanted list are Priscilla Chipaumire, Tonderai Murombo, Clever Nyengerai, Colen Zengeni and Rufaro Kaseke.

Also on the wanted list are ex security personnel who deserted and are accused of trying to destabilise the country by urging citizens through social media to revolt against the Mnangagwa regime.

Among them are Dickson Bandera, Wieslaw Kavhukatema, Bloom Tizora and Sibusisiwe Ncomanzi (all ex-Zimbabwe Republic Police). Other security personnel are drawn from the Zimbabwe National Army, the Central Intelligence Organisation and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services.

Recent arrests of political activists and all opposing the Zanu PF led Government analysts say it is a follow up to the August 2020 meeting.

Barcelona Target Aguero

It’s also believed Aguero is prepared to reduce his salary while playing for the Liga giants.

MDC Alliance Denounces Arrest Of Jacob Ngarivhume

Tinashe Sambiri|The Zanu PF leader, Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa is under relentless pressure to release jailed political activists.

The MDC Alliance has vowed to push the regime to release jailed political and human rights activists.

The vibrant movement also appealed to international human rights organizations to act on the crisis in Zimbabwe.

See statement below:

Detained Man Nabbed For Fondling Trio’s Privates In Police Cells

By A Correspondent- A man has been arrested for fondling the private parts of three men he was detained with at Bulawayo Central Police Station.

A source said last week on Sunday at around 10pm, Xolisani Mabhena (29), Mthokozisi Ndlovu (30), Ernest Emmanuel (33) and Tapiwa Makuyana, were arrested for violating Covid-19 regulations and they were detained at Bulawayo Central Police Station cells.

While they were in the cells, at around 11.30pm Mthokozisi went to the toilet to relieve himself. Xolisani allegedly followed him and grabbed his manhood.

“He screamed for help and after that Mthokozisi reverted to the cell and got into his blankets,” said a source close to investigations.

At around 3.00am, Xolisani allegedly approached Emmanuel while he was asleep and opened his trousers’ zip and started to caress his manhood.

“He woke up and shouted at him. He then pushed him away and he shamelessly walked away and slept,” said the privy source.

After a few minutes it is alleged Xolisani woke up from where he was sleeping and went to Tapiwa, who was sleeping just a few metres away from him.

“He opened Tapiwa’s trousers’ zip and fondled his testicles. Tapiwa woke up and asked him why he was doing that, but he couldn’t respond and pretended as if he was sleeping,” said the source.

On the same day at midday, the three teamed up and reported Xolisani for indecent assault.

He was arrested.

Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident: “I can confirm that we arrested a man for indecent assault after he touched three men’s genitals. The suspect and the complainants had been arrested for violating Covid-19 regulations.”

Fake Cop Nabbed While Fleeing With Stolen Mobile Phones

By A Correspondent- A man wearing a police uniform has been arrested after he allegedly entered a shop and snatched two cellphones before taking to his heels.

The owner of the shop, Tonderayi Mureya, narrated how the whole incident happened.

“It was during lunchtime while I was just sitting at the shop. Robert Chareramambo who was putting on a Zimbabwe Republic Police uniform entered my shop. He asked to see a Huawei G8 cellphone. I gave it to him. He further requested to see a Huawei GR5 cellphone and indicated that he wanted to buy the two cellphones,” said Mureya.

Mureya said while he was serving another customer Robert bolted out of the shop with the two cellphones.

A source close to investigations said Mureya pursued him and good Samaritans joined forces in chasing after the fake police officer.

“Mureya and other people joined in chasing after the fake police officer who was running away with two stolen cellphones. They caught up with him near a bank which is situated along Leopold Takawira Avenue between Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo and Fort Street,” said the source.

People bashed the fake police officer and took him to Bulawayo Central Police Station.

After police officers questioned him he revealed that he was a not a police officer and apologised.

A docket of theft and unlawful wearing of police uniform was opened against him.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident: “I can confirm that we arrested a man who impersonated a police officer and stole two cellphones.”

Insp Ncube thanked members of the public for joining hands in apprehending the fake police officer.

“We would like to thank members of the public in helping to apprehend the suspect but I would like to urge them to refrain from the habit of taking the law into their hands after they effect a citizen’s arrest,” he said.

This case follows hard on the heels of a man who impersonated a police officer and robbed a banana vendor of his hard-earned cash.

Tariro Chigwedu (27) who impersonated a police officer bumped into Talent Mabanjira on 6 January this year while he was selling bananas at TM Hyper and demanded cash while claiming to be a police officer.

He gave him a US$1, on the second occasion he gave him $100. But when Taririo went back for the third time, Talent, with the help of members of the public, captured him and took him to a police station.

Tredgold magistrate Stephen Ndlovu convicted him and sentenced him for two counts of impersonation.

He was sentenced to serve 48 months in prison with eight months suspended on condition of good behaviour. He is serving 40 months behind bars.

Duo Nabbed For Selling Pangolins

By A Correspondent- Two Harare men who allegedly captured two pangolins and attempted to sell them to undercover detectives have been arrested and appeared in court on Thursday.

Gift Karisa and Passmore Katiza were charged with contravening the Parks and Wildlife Act.

Pangolins are protected by law and possessing or dealing in them illegally attracts a prison sentence of up to 12 years.

The duo had attempted to sell the animals for US$10 000 to the detectives who were acting on a tip-off.

Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti told the court that on 4 May this year, detectives from CID Minerals Flora and Fauna Unit Harare received information that Karisa was at corner Central Avenue and 6th Street, Avenues, Harare, looking for potential buyers of pangolins.

One member of the detectives’ team proceeded to the place, pretending to be a potential buyer and together with Karisa, they went to Vainona High School in Harare.

Meanwhile, the other detectives were following and closely monitoring events from a distance.

Karisa went into the school building where he then came back with Passmore Katiza who was holding a sack that had two live pangolins in it.

The duo asked for US$10 000 in exchange for the pangolins and was given the cash there and then by the detective.

The detectives then revealed their identities and asked the accused persons to produce a license or permit allowing them to trade in specially protected animals.

After failing to produce the permits, the two were arrested.

Obediah Moyo’s Bail Conditions Relaxed

By A Correspondent- Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje has relaxed bail conditions for former Health and Child Care Minister Obadiah Moyo, who is facing criminal abuse of office charges.

Moyo will now report once a week at the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), instead of thrice.

In his application, Moyo pleaded with the court to make him report once a week at the ZACC offices, saying reporting thrice a week had become a burden on him.

Mambanje consented to Moyo’s request, saying the latter has demonstrated his willingness to stand trial by abiding by his reporting conditions despite the State failing to furnish him with a trial date up to now.

Moyo was arrested last year for his alleged involvement in the National Pharmaceutical Company’s (Natpharm) non-procedural engagement of the Delish Nguwaya fronted Drax International LLC, to supply medicines and surgical sundries, giving rise to the criminal abuse of office charges.

He is on $50 000 bail and has surrendered title deeds for his wife’s house in Eastlea pending trial.-statemedia

Jealous Lover Bashes Married Girlfriend

By A Correspondent- A cheating married woman from Emakhandeni suburb in Bulawayo is facing a tough time because her jealous boyfriend beats her whenever he finds her talking to any man.

A neighbour to Faith Ndaba (29), who requested anonymity, said Faith’s husband was based in South Africa, and only comes to Zimbabwe once a year.

The source said Faith has been in love with Promise Dube of Luveve suburb for almost a year now. Faith takes care of her side bae and pampers him with money for booze.

“Faith loves her boyfriend, she gives him money whenever he asks. Faith is moneyed because her husband who is based in South Africa frequently sends her money,” said the source.

When asked about his relationship and the incident that landed him in court Promise could only say: “When I fell in love with her, I never knew that she was married.”

When B-Metro asked about the affair, Faith did not deny that she secretly “services” Promise, but begged this publication not to publish the story.

“Who told you about the issue? Please don’t write this story, because it has the potential of wrecking my marriage and I do not want to be on social media,” she grovelled.

After a few minutes, she warmed up to this reporter and said: “I have been in love with Promise for almost a year now, but the problem with him is that he is violent because whenever he finds me with a man, he beats me up,” she said.

She further said last week on Saturday she almost died at the hands of her abusive boyfriend.

“We were walking home from a party in Luveve. Along the way, he started to accuse me of talking to a man at the party. He then beat me several times. When we were about to reach my place, he violently kicked me, I fell to the ground and bled. After that I fainted and woke up drenched with water. I believe he poured water on me so as to resuscitate me,” she said.

She said after that she reported Promise at Luveve Police Station leading to his arrest.

Promise appeared before Western Commonage Court magistrate Tancy Dube facing an assault charge.

He was remanded out of custody to next week Tuesday for routine remand.-BMetro

Chamisa is the current president of the MDC Alliance, the largest opposition party in Zimbabwe.

In a notice to its clients, the airline said it will resume flights to Harare and Cape Town, South Africa on 14 May 2021 with two weekly flights on Fridays and Sundays.

It said:

Bulawayo City Council To Take Over Umvutcha Cemetery

By A Correspondent- Bulawayo City Council is set to take over the privately-owned Umvutcha Cemetery with an estimated 45 000-grave capacity to ease a shortage of burial space.

The city has been battling burial space shortage following the decommissioning of West Park, Luveve, Athlone and Hyde Park cemeteries.

The only burials taking place at the decommissioned cemeteries are for reserved graves and in some instances, second interments.

At present, the local authority is operating three cemeteries, Athlone West, Luveve Extension and Lady Stanley.

Lady Stanley is reserved for senior prominent citizens.

To ease the shortage of burial space, council had granted authority to AP Glendanning to operate Umvutcha cemetery.

However, the cemetery has been deemed unattractive to residents because of its location, forcing its proprietors to approach council seeking to turn it into residential stands, a latest council report revealed.

Residents also complained that the cemetery did not offer grave refilling services which was another inconvenience for mourners.

“After realising that burial business was very low, AP Glendanning engaged council to exchange burial land for residential stands.

“The cemetery was fully developed with all requirements. This was of benefit to council,” read the latest council report of the health, housing and education committee in part.

“The offer by AP Glendanning to hand over Umvutcha Cemetery came in at a time when council was decommissioning West Park Cemetery.

“Council was in need of burial space. AP Glendanning had requested to exchange burial land for residential stands.

“Umvutcha Cemetery was fully developed with all the required infrastructure.

“The cemetery boasts a serene environment with a well-landscaped administration area.

“There is a functioning fountain. The cemetery also has a chapel that is ideal to conduct services. Umvutcha Cemetery under council would still maintain its upmarket class.”

Councillors have in the past suggested that residents bury their loved ones at their rural homes or cremate their remains among other alternatives to save burial space in the city.

Council is mulling introducing mandatory cremation for children under the age of 12 as the city is running out of burial space but some councillors feel all persons under 25 years should be incinerated.

The local authority has been trying to encourage residents to embrace cremation to save the available burial space but there have been few takers.-newsday

Zanu Pf Youth Leader Lewis Matutu In Turf War With Bredenkamp Over Mining Grant

By A Correspondent- An investment vehicle fronted by former Zanu-PF youth leader Lewis Matutu is locked in a turf war with Gavin Bredenkamp after it was allocated a 450 hectares mining grant on the latter’s Thetford Estate farm in Mazowe, the Zimbabwe Independent reported.

Gavin, is the son of the late John Bredenkamp, who was one of Zimbabwe’s top businessmen with interests spanning mining, agriculture and arms.

Documents gleaned by the Independent this week show that Matutu was granted mining rights at the heart of Bredenkamp’s 1 500ha Thetford Estate in Mazowe in February 2020 through an investment vehicle called Nyamatsanga Mining.

Bredenkamp was allocated the expansive farm in 2020, at a time the government was downsizing farms.

This has subsequently triggered a fierce dispute between the parties, with Bredenkamp fighting to boot out Matutu.

With the special grant set to expire next year, Matutu’s outfit has desperately sought to exploit the lucrative claims.

But Bredenkamp has resisted Matutu’s moves, insisting that he has rights over the land.

Although mining takes precedence over farming under Zimbabwe’s current legislation, Bredenkamp is armed with protection under the heritage sites as his farm falls within The Upper Mazowe Heritage site and is home to some rare ancient rock art. The farm is also an animal sanctuary and private game reserve with protected species such as the rhino.

However, sources close to the land wrangle say Bredenkamp, could have corrupted or intimidated authorities because of the proximity of his family to the corridors of power.

But Bredenkamp, through his legal counsel, Titan Law, insists he is on the right side of the law, should the matter spill into the courts.

The farm in dispute was gazetted for redistribution under the land reform programme in 2000, but the Bredenkamps remain unaffected.

Bredenkamp applied for an offer letter over the farm, which was granted on December 30, 2020, about eight months after issuance of the special grant to Nyamatsanga Mining.
Sources close to the squabble say the warring parties have been trying to resolve their differences through dialogue.

Efforts to get a comment from Mines and Mining Development minister Winston Chitando were fruitless at the time of going to print. Agriculture minister Anxious Masuka refused to comment on the matter referring questions to his permanent secretary John Basera.

“These are operational (and) not policy issues, so talk to Basera,” Masuka said on Wednesday.

Basera could not be reached for comment.

Bredenkamp’s lawyers confirmed an offer letter was issued for Thetford Estate.

“There is no special grant issued for the immovable property known as Thetford Estate. If there was ever a special grant issued for Thetford Estate or any portion of Thetford Estate, that special grant cannot, in our view, have been procedurally issued having due regard to the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals Act, as well as general government policy in relation to the issuance of special grants in areas subject to wildlife and other conservation initiatives. Thetford is essentially a private wildlife game reserve and has been, for many years,” Titan Law said.

“Additionally, Thetford is a historic site conservancy and resource for tourism as it falls under the Upper Mazowe National Monument as it contains some of the pristine rock art within the national monument. This rock art has survived between 7 000 and 13 000 years.

“We can state with absolute certainty that our client did not corrupt any land officials in respect of the allocation of the offer letter to him (and) our client has not denied any person with bona fide mineral rights, lawfully and procedurally issued, to lawfully and procedurally execute the same in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe.

“Our client has simply asked those persons claiming to exercise those rights to show that the Mines and Minerals Act as well as the Environmental Management Act have been strictly complied with before any such consent is granted to enter upon Thetford Estate. This has been made clear in writing,” the lawyers said.

Bredenkamp said Thetford is a vibrant and productive agricultural and wildlife conservation enterprise that cannot be unlawfully disturbed by persons.

Nyamatsanya’s lawyer Vengai Madzima said Matutu had a special grant.

“They (Bredenkamp’s camp) should comply with the law and allow my clients access to their special grant and then query, you don’t take the law into your own hands,” Madzima said in a telephone interview.

“They can just query whatever they feel is wrong with the relevant authorities.”

Midwives Shortages Haunt Zim

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe is still facing an acute shortage of midwives and the situation has escalated due to the COVID-19-induced demand for nurses globally.

As the world celebrated International Day of the Midwife yesterday, it was revealed that the country is grappling with a severe shortage of these experts who are leaving the country in droves for greener pastures abroad.

Since the advent of COVID-19 globally, there has been a massive demand for nurses and sadly, due to poor remuneration and deplorable working conditions, many including midwives have joined the great trek to greener pastures.

Zimbabwe Confederation of Midwives president Emmanuel Mahlangu said midwives were not being recognised in the country for their critical role in delivering babies safely and keeping a lid on maternal deaths.

“The global need for nurses has depleted our staff. These experts for normal deliveries are sadly migrating to other countries where they will only be operating as general nurses. This is because here, we do not recognise their role and out of frustration, many answered to global calls for nursing vacancies and now we have a shortage,” he said.

Mahlangu said it was sad that Zimbabwe, still with unacceptably high maternal mortality rate, was now just a training ground for other countries.

“We call on the government, local authorities and corporate sector to invest in midwives through intensified training and adequately retaining them,” he said.

The 2021 State of World’s Midwifery report by UNFPA, the UN sexual and reproductive health agency, World Health Organisation, International Confederation of Midwives ICM and partners noted the acute shortage of midwives as exerting a terrible global toll in the form of preventable deaths.

An analysis conducted for this report, published in the Lancet journal last December, showed that fully resourcing midwife-delivered care by 2035 could avert 67% of maternal deaths, 64% of new-born deaths and 65% of stillbirths.

It could save an estimated 4,3 million lives per year.

Commenting on the state of the world report, executive director for UNFPA Natalia Kanem said: “The State of the World’s Midwifery report sounds the alarm that currently the world urgently needs 1,1 million more essential health workers to deliver sexual, reproductive, maternal, new-born and adolescent healthcare, and 80% of these missing essential health workers are midwives.”

MDC Alliance Trio Seeks Magistrate, Prosecutor’s Recusal

By A Correspondent- MDC Alliance activists Joanah Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova have filed an urgent chamber application with the High Court seeking to stop their trial.

The trio is accused of publishing falsehoods.

Their lawyer Alec Muchadehama is also seeking recusal of magistrate Bianca Makwande and prosecutor Michael Reza who they accuse of being personal.

They submitted that they will never see justice as long as Makwande and Reza were handling their case.

“We protested that we could not properly plead to the charges given our so many misgivings in the matter, but Makwande forced us to plead to the changes that had been put to us,” Mamombe said.

When we pleaded the time was around 18:37hrs. To say that I was shocked at what I witnessed on April 28 is an understatement. I became so afraid of Makwande and Reza that I concluded that the chances are like ice in hell that I would get justice before these two,” she further said.

“We all came to the conclusion that our matters had been predetermined by Makwande and that we were not going to get a fair hearing.”

The State alleges that the trio faked their abduction in May last year and blamed State agents for it. They are being charged with publishing falsehoods, apart from violating COVID-19 regulations.

Makwande is insisting on trial despite the trio’s application for review.

The urgent application is yet to be heard.

Fake Grace Mugabe PhD-Former Mugabe Aide Exonerates Nyagura

By A Correspondent- Former Cabinet Minister Tichaendepi Robert Masaya, has exonerated the former University of Zimbabwe Vice Chancellor Livi Nyagura from corruptly awarding the former First Lady Grace Mugabe with a PhD.

Mr Masaya, who became the dean of the Faculty of Social Social Studies after Mugabe had already been accepted as a student, made the revelations during cross-examination from Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara who is representing Nyagura on allegations of illegally awarding her the PhD degree.

During the cross-examination, Mr Masaya stated that he was appointed as the dean in the Faculty of Social Studies after Mugabe was accepted as a student by the University of Zimbabwe.

He said he had no evidence proving that Nyagura showed favour or disfavour to Mugabe to become a student at the university.

During cross-examination from prosecutor Mr Tapiwa Godzi, Mr Masaya told the court that he only came to know that Mugabe was graduating with a PhD degree after Nyagura had given him a list of students who were graduating that year, saying he should familiarise with her first name which he said was difficult to pronounce.

The ex-Minister also stated that he did not know of Mugabe’s documents up until the graduation period.

Chinotimba Demands Salary Hike For Government Workers

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF lawmaker for Buhera South has challenged the government’s paymaster, Mthuli Ncube to pay government workers.

Chinotimba made the challenge in parliament when he was commenting on recent claims by the Finance Minister, that he had a surplus in his purse and at the same time failing to pay civil servants.

Buhera South legislator said it was ironic for Mthuli to claim that he had a surplus when government workers’ salaries were not sustainable.

“The salaries are inadequate, especially for those in rural areas. The current exchange rate is US$1 to ZW$130 and that is the rate that is being used by most shops, except shops such as OK who do not use the black-market rate. Such shops require that you pay what they charge. It is a ‘take it or leave it’ game,” he said.

“We expect immediate action to be taken on the matter, even if it means Minister Mthuli Ncube to be called into the House to answer questions and to address the matter. At one time, Honourable Mthuli Ncube said that the government has a surplus. How can you talk of surplus when the standard of living for the majority has not improved and they are earning peanuts?”, said Chinotimba.

Cathy Buckle: Give A Loaf To A Stranger

Dear Family and Friends,
In our beautiful wide blue skies of early May, winter warned us she was near and sent a cold wind, grey sky and unexpected rain this week. Temperatures overnight plunged into single digits and during the day into the low teens. Zimbabwe got out her blankets and put on her wooly hats. Half an inch (12mm) of rain gave us a welcome top up of water as we prepare to go into the next six months of dry. On the kopjes the curled clumps of tussock grass which had already dried up, revived briefly and were tinged with a beautiful orange flush and in our gardens the aloes are covered in orange flowers and alive with sunbirds.

Cathy Buckle

Winter 2021 in Zimbabwe looks to again be a time of beauty, hardship and ever more corruption which now seems to be the national pastime. In the past fortnight the latest corruption scandal has been exposed and we have followed it with gritted teeth and clenched knuckles as we slam into potholes, zig zag around gullies, tip sideways on steep eroded road edges and sit at endlessly slow queues at toll gates on the highways. The latest corruption is at ZINARA (Zimbabwe National Road Authority) and was exposed in parliament by the Auditor General’s reports for 2017 and 2019.  ZINARA collects fuel levies, vehicle licence and registration fees and toll gate fees and pays them into a Road Fund which it administers and allocates to road maintenance. After the audit it didn’t take us long to understand why our roads are in such a diabolical state, as if we didn’t know already.

In the 57 page report the irregularities in ZINARA for just two years included how in 2018 each ZINARA board member received a Christmas hamper worth US$9600. (That’s a LOT of money in a country where the average civil servants monthly salary is less than US$200). The Christmas hampers were accounted for by ZINARA as expenditure for ‘office supplies.’ There were two contracts for the supply of graders, the second one wasn’t tendered or even put in writing. To buy the graders ZINARA paid Univern US$17.3 million, an overpayment of US$1.2 million. To maintain the graders ZINARA paid Univern US$5.2 million, an amount not tendered for and not even due because the graders were under warranty. (Veritas “The Road to ruin”) When the graders arrived in Zimbabwe there were “lavish ceremonies.” A ‘handover’ lunch held at the Rainbow Towers Hotel cost almost US$16 thousand. A second function held at the Holiday Inn with a photo shoot of the graders cost over US$2000. People brought in for these ceremonies were accommodated at the Rainbow Towers and that bill was almost US$12 thousand. The promotional material for grader commissioning cost almost US$23 thousand dollars, equivalent to an average civil servants salary for nine and half years. 57 pages of shame also included stories of gym equipment and hairdo’s, software and non-existent projects; undoubtedly the tip of the ZINARA corruption iceberg funded by all Zimbabweans, by our road levies, licences and toll gate fees.

While the ZINARA looting was being exposed the ZCTU (Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions) president Peter Mutasa spoke on May Day, his words exposing the huge contrast between the fat cats and ordinary Zimbabweans. Mutasa said:  “…we took a wrong turn in November 2017 when we supported the coup hoping that there will be progress. We jumped from the frying pan right into the fire and we have no one else to rescue us than ourselves… all our constitutional rights and freedoms are suspended … our hospitals have become death traps  … roads are also in a pathetic condition…. Our transport system is pathetic… people are forced to stand in queues for hours to board the few available ZUPCO buses… over 83% of urban dwellers are not able to buy basic foods like bread, cooking oil and mealie meal. Over 70% are in poverty and 40% in extreme poverty… The majority in poverty are workers whose salaries have been eroded due to fascist government policies. The set minimum wage is still at ZWL$2500 against a Poverty Datum Line of ZWL$28362 …. farm workers and domestic workers earnings cannot buy a loaf of bread a day for the whole month. …Workers are enslaved and starving…”

Now, as we prepare for winter, we pull our blankets up, watch the sunbirds sipping on nectar and give a spare loaf of bread to a friend or stranger when we have an extra hundred dollars It’s always the small things that make such a huge difference and who knows, one day we may walk in their shoes. Grace Mugabe PhD- Former Mugabe Minister Defends The Former First Lady

By A Correspondent- The fourth witness in the trial of suspended University of Zimbabwe Vice Chancellor Levi Nyagura, former Cabinet Minister Tichaendepi Robert Masaya, has told the court that no favour or disfavour was shown by the accused in the conferment of a PhD degree to former First Lady Ntombizodwa Grace Mugabe.

By A Correspondent- Zanu PF said it will roll out the revised Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act to the country’s ten provinces as part of educating various business groups on the contents of the new policy framework.

The revised Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act is meant to ensure that it fits within the country’s new economic thrust.

Party Secretary for Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Dr Mike Bimha confirmed the development saying they are receiving calls from various business communities across the country seeking to understand the revised Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Act.

I Am Fearing For My Life, Gweru Shooting Survivor Speaks…

Two Gweru shooting victims are recovering from the wounds they sustained from the shooting but they are living in fear that the gunmen might come back again.

The sisters were discharged from the hospital while the other one underwent successful surgery.

The fatal shooting incident claimed the lives of a Kwekwe gold and car dealer Shelton Chinhango and his alleged girlfriend Gamuchirai Mudungwe.

The suspected killer who is a car dealer, Peter Dube aged 35 is still on the run with fears that he might have skipped the border to Mozambique a situation that is giving survivors and their relatives’ sleepless nights. Ishmael Nharingo, the father to the victims updated:

Well, I can confirm that one of my daughters is now out of the hospital. The other one had surgery where a bullet was removed from her head and is now out of the ICU. It’s been a traumatising experience as we are trying to come to terms with what happened.

Speaking to the ZBC News Crew, Nyasha Nharingo, one of the shooting victims and wife to the alleged killer said it was painful to consider that her husband would do that. She said:

I’m at pains to understand what became of my husband. We were already on separation after he beat me up in January. Shelton was trying to help me in all the mess. Previously he was never abusive until the January incident. It’s really painful and now that he has not been caught am still fearing for my life and my loved ones.

The Gweru shooting incident which left the community in shock has prompted the Joint Operation Command in the province to revisit the guns issued in the region with a view to recall some of the ammunition issued.-Pindula News

Man Bashes Friend Over Seductive Dance Before Wife

A man was left bloodied after he was assaulted at a party by his close friend, who accused him of dancing in a sexually suggestive way before his wife.

A witness, who attended the party, said Sam Sabelo Sibanda became unhappy after seeing his wife, Tatenda Kasaira, marvelling at his friend Dumiso Mpabanga’s exquisite dance moves.

The witness said Sam approached his wife and accused her of admiring and salivating at Dumiso’s sexually suggestive dance moves.

After that he turned to Dumiso and angrily accused him of dancing while looking at his wife.

“He charged at the unsuspecting Dumiso, who was enjoying himself on the dance floor and accused him of trying to entice his wife with his sexually suggestive dance moves.

“After that, he manhandled him before he unleashed a heavy blow on him,” said the source.

Following that, the source said, Sam rained blows on the hapless Dumiso, who tumbled to the ground and bled from the mouth.

“He kicked him all over the body causing him to bleed. But Sam did not stop at that, as he reached for stones and hit him on the body while he was wriggling in pain on the floor,” said a witness who watched all the drama unfold.

Dumiso was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.

A report was made at Tshabalala Police Station, but the police were yet to arrest Sam.

Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident:

“I can confirm that we have a case of a man who assaulted his close friend for allegedly dancing in a sexually suggestive manner in front of his wife.

“The suspect also stoned the complainant.”

She appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of Sam.

“This suspect is a resident of Bulawayo and is known by some people and they have information about where he could be hiding.

“We are kindly asking you to furnish us with information that may lead to his arrest.

“Anyone with information may contact any nearest police station or contact us on (09)60358,”she said.- B- Metro

N’anga Snatches Client’s Hubby

FOR Sephukile Mathuthu, from Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park Suburb, things were not going well for her husband Prince Mathuthu when they decided to consult a sangoma, Malandisa Ncube, from Old Magwegwe suburb.

The sangoma reportedly healed her husband without any hassles, but Sephukile is now hurt and frustrated.

This is because after helping her husband, the “devious” sangoma complicated her life by snatching him.

After she found herself sharing her husband with a “hot” sangoma, she suspected that Malandisa did other things to him.

Last week she visited the Bulawayo Civil Court seeking a peace order against her, while protesting that she wanted the sangoma to leave her man alone.

“I want a peace order against Malandisa Ncube who is my husband’s girlfriend. She constantly calls me while insulting and threatening me. Because of her acts I no longer have peace as she also texts me insulting messages.

“She is a traditional healer and I used to consult her when my husband Prince Mathuthu was sick. She ended up having a relationship with him.

“She is always calling me and my husband and we ended up fighting because of that,” protested Sephukile.

She said Malandisa was also threatening her saying she would “fix” her since she was a sangoma.

“She is also threatening me saying she is a sangoma and can fix me, the latest incident being last month. I want the court to help me by barring her from insulting and threatening me and also to stop her from coming to my house,” begged Sephukile.

Sephukile and Prince got married in 1997.

In response Malandisa admitted that she snatched Sephukile’s husband when they consulted her for help. She, however, said they had since separated.

“I never phoned her or went to her house to see her husband. She is the one who is phoning me and I don’t respond.

“She sent me insulting messages and when I responded she said that is what she wanted so that she could take me to court.”- B-Metro

WHO Ranks Zimbabwe 7th In Managing Vaccination In Africa – Yes, We’re Winning Rat Race To The Bottom

Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

By Wilbert Mukori | “ZIMBABWE has been ranked the 7th best African country in managing COVID-19 vaccination, beating its neighbour South Africa which came a distant 31 on the rankings ladder,” reported News Day.

“According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) FT vaccine tracker seen by NewsDay yesterday, Zimbabwe emerged one of the best African countries doing well in the management of COVID-19 vaccination in rankings where Seychelles, also a SADC country, claimed the top post.”
Zimbabwe has consistently had one of the lowest corona virus cases and deaths per capita anywhere in the world. The explanation has been obvious; the country has not been testing for the virus even when it should do so.
At the peak of the last corona virus wave late last year, SA was carrying out over 44 000 tests per day. Zimbabwe, with ¼ of SA’s population, should have been doing over 11 000 tests per day; was doing 1 500 tests per day or 10%.
Zimbabwe has received 400 000 and 200 000 of Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccine doses donated by China and 35 000 doses donated by India. The country has since bought one million Sinovac vaccines from China and Minister of Finance, Professor Mthuli Ncube, has said the country will be buying one million doses very month.
There have been no reports of the country running out of vaccines since mid February 2021 when the country received the 200 000 Sinopharm vaccine. And according to the Minister of Health’s 3 May corona virus report, 427 753 people have received their first jab and 99 765 have receive their first and second jab.
So, it has taken two and half months to administer just over 600 000 vaccines and vaccinating just over half a million. We need to vaccinate 10 million to reach herd immunity and this will take 50 months or just over 4 years. And throughout that period we will be a sitting duck; hoping against hope that the nation is spared the serious corona virus outbreak as happening in India and Brazil!

US President, Joe Biden, set himself the target to vaccinating 100 million Americans in his first 100 days in office. He vaccinated 150 million or 50% of the country’s adult population and is set to reach the 70% herd immunity by 4 July 2021. Zimbabwe has vaccinated half a million or 5% in the last 100 days and for that we receive praise and accolades! For what, one might ask!

“It’s very true that Zimbabwe is ranked as such, actually it’s one of the best in Africa and SADC,” explained Johannes Marisa, acting President of Zimbabwe Medical and Dental Private Practitioners Association.
“It’s a true reflection of what’s happening in terms of the vaccination programme. Why? If you notice, we are the fast-mover. We actually moved fast on vaccination. Remember, we sent a whole plane to China to collect the first 200 000 vaccine vials yet no other country had undertaken that step.”
The corona virus pandemic is the most serious existential threat of our time and since the only sure defence is to vaccinate as many people as quickly as possible. We should be moving heaven and earth to vaccinate our people a.s.a.p. Whilst other nations have vaccinated 50% plus of their people in the last three months, we have only managed to vaccinate a paltry 5% in the same time and are over the moon about that.

One can understand if the country has only managed to vaccinate 5% of the target population in three months because it ran out of vaccines. The Minister of Finance has promised to procure one million vaccine a month and it is simply not good enough to hear the country can only administer 600 000 vaccines in three months. If such a pathetic performance deserves the ranking of 7 best performer then, compared to the rest of the world, the bar must been brought down very, very low indeed.
Indeed, one is given to ask the busy bodies at WHO FT vaccine tracker, who produced this ranking, whether this is a genuine race or just one of those UN rat race to the bottom? Race has no starting point, finishing point and no time limit and everyone will be declared the winner guaranteed!- SOURCE: zimbabwelight.blogspot.com

No Progress Without Justice-Hon Biti

The Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa owes the nation an apology for being involved in the killing of innocent civilians during the Gukurahundi era.

This was said by MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti.

Hon Biti accused the Zanu PF regime of killing thousands of innocent civilians at the height of the Gukurahundi era.

“The regime, through its mouthpieces, is determined to bar leaders of the Democratic Struggle from the 2023 election.

Desperate unconstitutional measures by an illegal fascist cult led by a desperate genocidalist will not stop change and transformation in Zimbabwe
Gukurahundists now masquerading as national Leaders owe Zimbabwe a huge apology.

Fact of the matter is that this country will never move without transitional justice, without dealing with shame and tragedy of Gukurahundi.

Those with blood on their hands have no business to govern,” argued Hon Biti.

Why Join The Peaceful Petition Against Constitution Amendment No.2

By Elizabeth Marunda| If the President and his/her team, indeed uphold Servant Leadership as they claim, the Bosses, we the people should choose our Vice Presidents, ministers, women and youth, judges, speakers of parliament and senate who truly express our interests and meet our needs and demands, not representatives who choose themselves so that they can silently harvest most of the nation’s resources as though we do not exist and also, as if there is no posterity.

This is not acceptable in the 21st Century. There is need for all of us to speak out against the evil that we witness daily. We the people of Zimbabwe should speak out through the said petition inform and persuade others, no one is coming to save Zimbabweans, we have to petition alone and we shall be heard.

Mnangagwa Must Apologize For Gukurahundi Atrocities

MP Betrays Own Community In Bid To Please Mnangagwa

Tinashe Sambiri|Nkayi South MP Stars Mathe has poured cold water on the Gukurahundi mass killings in a bid to please the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Mathe betrayed members of her own community when she described Mr Mnangagwa as a man of unity, peace and harmony.

Mathe even attempted to portray Mr Mnangagwa as a political saint.

Below is the MDC Alliance Youth Assembly response to Mathe’s remarks.

05-05-2021

ZANU PF Member of Parliament for Nkayi South constituency, one Stars Mathe yesterday threw her parliamentary role of community representation into the pit latrine in a bootlicking trance on Emmerson Mnangagwa.

In a bootlicking overdrive, Mathe left even the Speaker of Parliament stone faced when she applauded Mnangagwa for
presiding over “unity, peace and harmony and not experiencing any spills of blood since independence”.

For someone who hails from Nkayi in Matabeleland where Gukurahundi mass murders and mass graves were experienced to speak like that, it is not only shocking but a great betrayal to those whom she purports to represent.

Mathe is an insult to the great people of Nkayi South constituency who gave her the mandate to represent them in Parliament.

That Nkayi is one of the hotspots of political violence since the days of Gukurahundi right up to the post 2008 elections yet we have a ZANU PF MP that did not witness nor hear of any bloodbath in that part of the country only shows that ZANU PF parliamentarians are detached from the realities facing those they claim to represent.

Indeed (dis)Honorable Mathe, there was no blood spill in Matabeleland but floodgates of bloodbath of more than 20 000 civilians!

And the arch-angel of terror in that bloodletting of 1980s, 2008 and 01 August 2018 is none other than Mathe’s saint, Emmerson Mnangagwa!

Only MDC Alliance representatives are genuine representatives of the people.

Vote wisely Zimbabwe!

What Is Medication-Overuse Headache?

What leads to medication-overuse headache, and how can you reduce your risk?

Too-frequent use of acute migraine drugs can lead to chronic daily headache.

Do you have headache days — in addition to migraine attacks — more often than you have pain-free days? If so, you may have medication-overuse headache (MOH).

Also called chronic daily headache or rebound headache, MOH most commonly occurs in people with a primary headache disorder such as migraine, cluster headache, or tension-type headache, according to the American Migraine Foundation. It’s caused by too-frequent use of acute medications, although exactly what “too frequent” means can depend on the drug being taken.

Medication-overuse headache isn’t only troublesome because you have near-constant head pain: MOH can also cause headaches that are resistant to preventive migraine medications, making acute therapies less effective as well.

Stewart Tepper, MD, professor of neurology at the Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine in Hanover, New Hampshire, spoke about medication-overuse headaches in his talk “Medications That Make Migraine Worse,” as part of the Sixth Annual Migraine World Summit, held March 17 to 25, 2021.

In addition to explaining how medication-overuse headache develops and how to reduce your risk, Dr. Tepper observed that the newest type of acute migraine treatment — a drug class called CGRP receptor antagonists, sometimes referred to as “gepants” (pronounced gee-pants) — does not carry the risk of medication-overuse headache.

Here’s what to know about medication-overuse headache.

  1. Medication-Overuse Headache Has a Precise Definition
The International Headache Society defines medication-overuse headache as a headache occurring on 15 or more days per month in a person with a preexisting primary headache disorder and developing as a consequence of regular overuse of acute or symptomatic headache medication for more than three months.

Different medications have different guidelines as to what constitutes overuse. The use of triptans, ergot alkaloids, combination analgesics (pain relievers), or opioids for 10 or more days of the month is considered overuse, according to the American Migraine Foundation.

Taking simple analgesics, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) — a drug class that includes aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), and naproxen (Aleve) — on 15 or more days a month also constitutes overuse.

Usually medication-overuse headaches resolve after the overuse is stopped, although people may undergo a period when their headaches get worse before they get better.

  1. Quantity Matters in Medication-Overuse Headache, Not Quality
Medication-overuse headache can feel different in different people, according to Tepper.

“What I tell people is that it doesn’t really matter if it’s front or back, right or left, up or down, mild, moderate, or severe. It’s not the quality of the headache, it’s the quantity of the headache,” he says.

The distinguishing feature of MOH is how often occurs, he says.

  1. Any Day With Any Type of Headache Counts as a ‘Headache Day’
If you aren’t sure if what you’re experiencing is MOH, try keeping a calendar and counting the number of headache days you have. Don’t just count the days when you have symptoms of a migraine attack but rather all days with any type of headache, says Tepper.

Alternatively, he suggests counting the number of completely headache-free days you have. “How many days are crystal clear from the moment you open your eyes until the minute you go to bed at night, without a twinge of headache? The crystal-clear days should be at least 15 days per month in order to not be in chronic migraine,” he says.

  1. Taking Certain Medications Just Once a Week Can Make Migraine Worse
The two pain medications that are most likely to make migraine worse are butalbital, which is a barbiturate that is mixed with other pain medicines and is included in the medications Fioricet and Fiorinal, and opioids of any sort, says Tepper.

These types of medications can be used for emergency relief for a migraine attack but should be used with caution because of their risk for rebound headache, according to the American Migraine Foundation.

Opioids, also called narcotics, such as oxycodone and hydrocodone, can cause headaches to worsen or become more frequent by using them just once a week. Butalbital is linked with overuse when used four times a month or more, according to the American Migraine Foundation.

These medications alter the pain regulatory systems of the brain in a bad way, and they not only worsen migraine attacks in terms of frequency, severity, and duration but also often make them untreatable, says Tepper.

  1. Pain Medications Taken for Any Reason Can Lead to MOH
Taking analgesics for reasons besides your migraine can still cause medication-overuse headache, according to StatPearls.

“Say you’re taking it for low back pain, the brain does not know the difference,” says Tepper, adding that the frequency of use and the type of medication are associated with the transformation to MOH.

  1. The More Headache Days You Have, the Higher Your Risk for Chronic Daily Headache
“The more headache days a person has, the more likely they are to transform to chronic migraine,” says Tepper. Studies conducted both in the general population and in clinics show that people who have 10 to 14 headache days per month are 20 times more likely to develop daily headache than people who have fewer than five headache days per month, he says.

“The frequency of the headache days is actually a big risk for transforming, and the frequency of headaches is linked to how many times somebody reaches for an acute medication to treat,” says Tepper, adding that although these are separate risks, they feed each other.

“It’s why we try so hard to reduce the total number of headache days per month, as well as the number of acute medication days per month,” says Tepper.

  1. Caffeine Can Contribute to Medication-Overuse Headache
Caffeine at 100 to 200 milligrams (mg) per day is probably enough to contribute to medication-overuse headache, says Tepper.

For reference, 8 ounces of coffee has between 80 and 100 mg of caffeine, and 12 ounces of a caffeinated soft drink has between 30 and 40 mg, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The headache medication Excedrin has 65 mg of caffeine per tablet.

However, many people are fond of their caffeine-containing beverages.

“I tend to try to work around the caffeine, as long as it’s not high-dose caffeine, to see if we can help them without taking away one of their pleasures,” says Tepper…

Man Jailed For Raping Own Daughter

A Gutu man has been jailed for an effective 18 years for raping his five-year-old daughter.

The man (25) from Mazongororo village forcibly took his daughter from his mother-in-law on the pretext he wanted to send her to school but ended up raping her.

Masvingo regional magistrate Mr Bishard Chineka had initially sentenced the man to 20 years behind bars but conditionally suspended two years for five years on condition of good behaviour.

The agreed facts are that the child was staying with her grandmother in another area in Mazongororo village when the man approached his mother-in-law in mid April this year and demanded to have his daughter.

After facing resistance from the mother-in-law, he claimed he wanted to send his daughter to school and he took the daughter away by force.

He stayed with the daughter in his two-roomed house where he shared blankets with her. On 30 April, he raped her once.

The victim’s sister who was sleeping in the next room was alerted by the noise as the little girl cried the whole night after being raped by her father.

The next morning the sister alerted other villagers who approached the man and forcibly took the victim back to her grandmother.

A day later, the grandmother noticed some bruises on the girl as she bathed her and upon probing, she disclosed that she had been raped by her father.

A report was made to police and a medical examination conducted at Gutu Rural Hospital confirmed the rape leading to the man’s arrest

Mr Liberty Hove appeared for the State.

Meanwhile, a Chitungwiza man has been slapped with an effective 11-year jail sentence for raping a 17-year-old schoolgirl with disabilities.

The man lured the girl to his house where he abused her before he threatened her with a knife if she disclosed the abuse.

The girl uses crutches to walk.

Chitungwiza Magistrate Noel Mupeyiwa had initially sentenced Shepherd Mabvuto (39) to 14 years imprisonment but conditionally suspended three years of his sentence.

Prosecutor Lovet Muringwa convinced the court that on January 6 this year, Mabvuto went to the girl’s residence and asked her to follow him to his house and she complied.

On arrival, he pushed the girl to the bed and took a knife from a drawer threatening to kill her if she made any noise.- The Herald

Chinotimba Clashes With Mnangagwa, Fights For Government Workers

Mthwakazi Stages Mass Protests Against Police Brutality

By A Correspondent- Mthwakazi Republic Party said it will next week stage a mass protest against police brutality in Bulawayo.

The party said it had noted with concern the inhumane treatment of private transport operators, employees and clients by the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

“We can’t allow police to brutalise the very people enabling residents to commute to and from work daily,” said the party.

MRP President Cde Mqondisi Moyo, last year wrote a letter to the Home Affairs Minister the Minister a letter, complaining about police misconduct in handling transport issues in Bulawayo. The letter was copied Police Commissioner General-Godwin Matanga, Zimbabwe President Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, Ministry of Transport, Police in Charge of Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Bulawayo Resident Minister – Judith Ncube, Joint Operations Command (JOC), Bulawayo Transport Operators, and Bulawayo residents.

” It is against this background that we are calling for a total shutdown of Bulawayo on the 10th and 11th this month.

“We hold ZRP accountable for the death of our people in accidents as Kombies run away from violent police,” he said.

“Why should we have the Zimbabwe Republic Police causing fatal road accidents, beating poor passengers, and damaging people’s vehicles? We know they are doing this because they want to boost the wealth of those who have captured the State like Mr Tagwirei who happens to be the main beneficiary of Zupco’s monopoly of the transport industry”, Mthwakazi demanded.

Mutambara Warns Of Mass Protests

By James Gwati- Former Deputy Prime Minister has warned President Emmerson Mnangagwa of civil arrest following his party’s engineered constitutional amendments that recently sailed through Senate.

Senate on Tuesday passed the controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill No 2 with 65 voting in favour of the mutilation of the Constitution adopted in 2013 through a popular referendum vote while 10 voted against.

Mutambara yesterday took to microblogging site Twitter, accusing Zanu PF of “giving its detractors a big stick to whip its behind”.

“Zanu PF is begging for more economic sanctions,” he tweeted.

“Amendment No 2 gives its detractors reasons to maintain sanctions, constitutional violations, illegal judges, compromised Judiciary, corrupt imperial presidency. Zanu PF is giving its detractors a big stick to whip its behind. It is pure idiocy.”

He called for political action to stop the constitutional changes.

“Amendment No 2: the fightback (1) legal action against Amendment No 1, (2) legal action against Amendment No 2, (3) stop further constitutional changes and stop Patriotic Bill, (4) political mobilisation against the two amendments, (5) make the two amendments an election issue for 2023 (make Zanu PF pay politically), (6) devise strategy to stop Zanu PF 2/3 majority in 2023 — focus intensely on parliamentary seats, not just the presidency and (7) improve the quality of opposition (presidency and Parliament) candidates by putting a premium on (a) meritocracy, (b) technical competence, (c) proven capabilities, (d) ethical leadership, (e) strategic thinking, and (f) a track record of measurable achievements,” he

said.

Mthwakazi Calls for Bulawayo Shutdown Over Kombi Ban

By A Correspondent- Mthwakazi Republic Party youth wing is planning to shut down the entire Bulawayo City and force the government to end its ban on kombies.

The disgruntled MRP youth league said they plan to hold the mass demonstrations on the 10th and the 11th of May.

In a statement, MRP said it was touched by the pain the people are made to endure daily because of Zupco’s incapacity to meet public transport demands.

“We urge Omalayitsha not to allow Zupco operating in South Africa if the government continues to ban them from operating.

“The people’s revolutionary party is, therefore, demanding that government immediately allow private commuters and Omalayitsha back on the road. An article in the government-controlled Sunday News of the 2 May 2021, announcing a ban on private commuters has left us with no option but to demonstrate our disapproval of the move,”said MRP.

“All progressive residents, Kombi owners and their employees, and other stakeholders are kindly called upon to ensure that the shutdown is a success,” the party said.

The government recently announced an indefinite ban on kombis and said directed the police to impound private cars seen carrying passengers.

Top Aide Dumps Mwonzora Over Zanu PF Law

By A Correspondent – MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora has been deserted by one of his top aides for endorsing the Zanu PF sponsored Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 2.

Noris Nyathi, the former Victoria falls deputy mayor said he could no longer associate with a sellout political grouping.

“I write this letter to inform you that I am no longer a member of this party. My resignation is inspired by numerous factors, i.e. failure to protect the citizens of Zimbabwe,” he said in his resignation letter directed to MDC-T secretary-general Paurina Mpariwa.

“I consider it gross misconduct by our MPs, Senators including the presidium to give Zanu PF the needed two-thirds majority to pass the repressive Amendment Bill Number 2.

“This is a direct provocation to the electorate who are the custodians of the Constitution which you have amended without going through a consultative process.”

Mwonzora Sellout Aides Named

By James Gwati-Three Douglas Mwonzora’s MDC-T senators who assisted Zanu PF to pass the controversial Constitutional Amendment Bill No 2 have been identified.

The three senators are Piniel Denga, Morgan Femai and Jane Chifamba.
These senators on Tuesday voted alongside Zanu PF, which needed only one vote to achieve a two-thirds majority.

Mwonzora Betrays Struggle Over Cup Of Tea

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance has urged citizens to reject the Constitutional Amendment Bill.

The MDC Alliance Namibia, in a statement, took a swipe at Douglas Mwonzora for compromising the people’s struggle due to a cup of coffee.

Read the MDC Alliance Namibia full statement below:

It is now officially confirmed that MDC T is a Zanupf project, Mdc Alliance Namibia echoes.

04 Tuesday 2021

Mdc Alliance Namibia urges all those who were fooled and deceived by the greedy stomach politicians; Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora, Thokozani Khupe, Morgan Komichi, Mashakada and their cronies to smell the coffee and rejoin the democratic project led by none other than the able organic leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa (Wamba Dia Wamba).

We are very grateful to hundreds in Matebeleland Province who were quick to regain their composure to come back to People’s Agenda. Not forgetting what transpired in Bindura yesterday when Mwonzora and Komichi were barred from meeting social democrats who accused them of selling the democratic project to Zanupf Satanists.

Today, Tuesday, the 4th of May, MdcT has assisted the rogue Zanupf regime pass the Constitutional Amendment Bill No 2. This bill is a sadist attempt to compromise the most fundamental provision of the Constitution in Constitutional Democracy which is the separation of powers.

Mdc Alliance Namibia continues to ponder how a democratic party can vote to reverse the gains we scored in the Constitution of 2013 which was voted by the people one purports to represent. These are clear signs of a monocratic nature of governance. Mwonzora and cabal have shown the world that they are belly politicians who masquerade as socio-economic transformers.

The people spoke clearly about the constitutional procedures in the recruitment of judges; that judges are recruited through public interviews undertaken by the( JSC) Judiciary Services Commission, an independent institution mend to fight nepotism and remote-controlled Judiciary Service Providers. In antithesis with the provisions of the 2013 Constitution, Mwonzora and his Zanupf cronies voted that the President can do whatever he wants in terms of appointments and dismissals as well extensions after the retirement age.

Moreover, this is a clear betrayal of everything the original Mdc formed on September 11 1999 stood for in terms values and principles. It is surely and truly a shameful and darkest day for those associated with the Zanupf-sponsored MdcT including my little known homeboy, Festus Dumbu(the former Zaka West MP) and my cde at Zinasu, Anorld Chidodo who seem to be active on Facebook supporting this Zanupf surrogate.

It is now confirmed that Mdc-T is a Zanupf project after aiding their political masters with a 2/3 majority to pass a bill that promotes the President to hire and fire judges willy nilly, extend the term of office of judges beyond the stipulated age of 70 years just to protect an individual by the name Luke Malaba who is supposed to retire on the 15 May 2021. We are quite aware that this haste to pass this satanic bill is driven by the dictators to protect this captured Malaba from retirement.

Furthermore, it is imperative for social democrats to realise that Zanupf did not donate to Mwonzora the army to capture our Hq, Morgan Tsvangirai House for nothing, donate to him Mdc Alliance MPs , Councillors, Senators and the money constitutionally belonging to the Mdc Alliance according to the Political Parties Finances Act. Togarasei has paid back astronomically by betraying representative democracy on this day. The judicially-constructed MdcT has unearthed that it is a Zanupf surrogate meant to decimate the People’s Agenda in a bid to establish a One-party state, that shall be resisted as per our culture of confrontation to authoritarianism.

Politically inept Zanupf doesn’t have 2/3 majority to pass these evil laws aimed at capturing the Courts, Parliament and all other government institutions.

In a nutshell, Mdc Alliance Namibia encourages the people of Zimbabwe to vote No to this satanic bill.

It is now open that MPs who are assisting Zanupf are no longer with the people. They are now detached from their constituencies in pursuit of money and diplomatic passports. Instead of being change agents they have become opportunity seekers, the organic President Advocate Nelson Chamisa promised to radically transform the criteria of candidate selection process. We accepted the apology from the People’s President, in 2023 we shall do it after a radical shift.

We Love Married Men Because Boys Are Stingy- Slay Queen

Own Correspondent |
Young ladies around the country are unhappy with Masvingo preacher and slay queens godfather Isaac Makomichi’s threats to “close wombs of those who snatch married women’s husbands.”

The outspoken preacher reportedly returned from Ghana with a charm that can “close a woman’s womb.”

Makomichi recorded a video footage as he was leaving Ghana aboard a British Airways plane.

In the video footage, Makomichi said :
“If someone takes your husband or boyfriend then that person anoora chibereko.”

S*x workers and slay queens are reportedly planning to take to the streets to push government to stop Makomichi from distrubuting the charm.

Warriors, Bafana Bafana Clash Postponed

The Confederation of the African Football has postponed the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, including the game between Zimbabwe and South Africa, scheduled for June.

The decision was made at an emergency meeting on Monday after several host stadiums failed to get approval from the continental body due to their bad condition caused by the coronavirus.

Teams like Senegal, Mali, Malawi, Seychelles, Somalia, Namibia, Niger, and Liberia were among those affected.

According to a statement by CAF, the first two days of the qualifying campaign will now happen in September. This would give more time to the member associations to renovate the stadiums up to the minimum standards.

“The CAF Emergency Committee, in consultation with FIFA, decided to postpone the CAF qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 that were due to be played in June 2021 after taking into consideration the current challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need to ensure the optimal playing conditions for all participating teams,” the football body said.

“The qualifiers will now take place in the existing windows of September, October and November 2021, and March 2022.”

Zimbabwe’s National Sports Stadium got approval but the FA was told about the areas still needing improvements.

And the postponement will now allow more work to be done on the venue to avoid fines that may arise from organisational and technical violations during the games.

The Warriors were supposed to host South Africa in the opening match of Group G before travelling to Ethiopia for Matchday 2.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Apologize For Gukurahundi Atrocities, Hon Biti Tells Mnangagwa

Gweru Set For Business Transformation

By A Correspondent| The City of Gweru is set for a business turnaround as a high powered Government delegation is expected to commission various projects in the city.

The projects are aimed at empowering indigenous Zimbabweans among them a service station and the touring of workspaces for informal traders that are under construction in Mtapa suburb in Gweru.

The projects are set to create employment for Zimbabweans and will see players in the fuel and retail sectors increasing among them Energy Park Service Station.

The commissioning of Energy Park, one of the fastest growing service stations in the country follows a recent visit by National Housing and Social Amenities Minister Daniel Garwe who said local authorities should prioritise building vending stalls small to medium enterprises, to bring sanity in the informal sector.

“I would like to encourage the council to speed up the process of allocation of land for the building of vending malls and factory shells meant to benefit those who are in the small and medium enterprises. The Government has put together resources meant for the construction of vending malls, but the only hindering factor is that local authorities have not given us the land to build from and this has affected the informal sector,” he said.

Dubbed the City of Progress, Gweru has been a sleeping giant in terms of infrastructure with a proposed $30 million shopping mall at North Gate Heights along the Harare-Gweru Highway still to take off.

North Gate Heights Phase Two has 882 serviced residential stands, 67 commercial stands, a primary school and a secondary school.

We Demand Total Freedom For All Political Prisoners- MDC Alliance

06-05-2021

The release of our female youth leaders Hon Joana Mamombe and Vice National Chairperson Cecilia Chimbiri is welcome but must never be seen in the context of a favour by the oppressor.

The duo’s release was long over due!

In fact they were not supposed to be jailed in the first place.

It is the art of dictators to press their feet hard on citizens then lift it a little bit so as to give an empty and false sense of freedom.

There is nothing to celebrate about temporary freedoms of Mamombe and Chimbiri because in any case freedom is their birthright.

We demand for the unconditional release of all political prisoners including our Youth Commander Obey Tererai Sithole, Legwan Mavhunga, Munyaradzi Mpofu and Makomborero Haruzivishe who was convicted and sentenced for no crime at all.

The dictator must not pretend to give us what is already ours.

Chronic Daily Headache – Facts

Full Text: Magashule Takes On Ramaphosa

Media statement by the Secretary-General of the ANC. comrade Elias Sekgobelo Magashule. about my suspension as Secretary-General of the ANC.

Date: Wednesday, 5 May 2021

I am issuing this media statement in my capacity as Secretary-General of the African National Congress (ANC).

I have received a letter under the signature of the Deputy Secretary-General, comrade Jessie Duarte, that temporarily suspends me for an initial period of six months. It is my understanding that this letter was issued to me in terms of a decision of the National Working Committee held on Monday the 3rd of May 2021, in terms of Rule 25.70 and Rule 13, to the effect that all members who have been indicted to appear in a court of law on charges. are to be temporarily suspended.

Other members who are similarly affected have received similar letters.

It is evident that the Deputy Secretary-General does not have the authority to issue such letters. Thus the letter is fatally flawed, and in fact unconstitutional. Furthermore, these letters are based on a selective and factional interpretation of the relevant Resolution.

I herewith announce that I am immediately, and formally, appealing this unconstitutional suspension. In terms of the ANC Constitution. my suspension is thus wholly suspended, until my appeal has been heard, and its final outcome announced.

For the sake of fairness and justice to all the affected comrades, who have received similarly unconstitutional letters, I as Secretary-General – who is duty-bound to uphold the ANC Constitution and all administrative processes – urge them to also follow the appropriate internal appeal processes. It follows that the suspensions of all affected members will also in terms of the ANC Constitution be suspended with immediate effect.

I have also in accordance with the powers vested in me as the Secretary-General of the ANC, and furthermore in full compliance with the relevant conference Resolutions summarily suspended the President of the ANC, comrade Cyril Ramaphosa.

This is done in terms of Resolution 8.2 of the 54th National Conference, which states that, “…Every cadre accused of or reported to be involved in, corrupt practices accounts to the Integrity Committee immediately. or laces DC processes and Resolution 8.3 that further provides for the suspension of, “. . people who fail to give an acceptable explanation, or to voluntarily step down while they face disciplinary, investigative or prosecutorial procedures”.

I call on all members of the African National Congress to act with revolutionary dignity and respect and to uphold the ANC Constitution. None of us should bow to illegal and unconstitutional actions. In doing so we must protect the unity of the ANC as leader of society.

Issued by the Secretary-General of the ANC Comrade Elias Sekgobelo Magashule.
