End Discrimination Against Women in Politics, MP Declares

By A Correspondent

Mutsa Murombedzi, the Citizens Proportional Representation MP for Mashonaland West, has called for an immediate end to discrimination against women in politics.

In a statement on Tuesday, MP Murombedzi emphasized the need to address systemic barriers that contribute to gender inequalities hindering women’s leadership.

“Before today’s House sitting, we had a HeForShe dialogue.

The historically violent nature of our politics necessitates comprehensive electoral reforms to enhance women’s participation in elections in Zimbabwe.

By creating a safer and more equitable political environment, Zimbabwe can move toward a more inclusive and representative democracy.”

Mnangagwa Crucifies Opposition Activist

By Tinashe Sambiri

In a troubling development for democratic freedoms in Zimbabwe, Tineyi Mapepa from Mwenezi has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for organizing a rally for the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in the lead-up to the crucial elections on August 23.

This conviction raises serious concerns about the state of human rights and political expression in the country.

Mapepa’s sentencing highlights a broader pattern of repression faced by political activists and human rights defenders in Zimbabwe.

As the nation approaches pivotal elections, the crackdown on dissenting voices threatens the very foundation of democratic engagement. Genuine human rights advocates cannot afford to remain silent in the face of such injustice.

The plight of individuals like Mapepa underscores the urgent need for both local and international communities to stand in solidarity with those who risk their freedom to promote democratic values.

“The question must be asked: what message does this send to citizens who wish to engage in peaceful political discourse?

The silencing of voices advocating for change serves only to deepen disillusionment and stifle the aspirations of a population yearning for genuine democratic reform,” said Stephen Sarkozy Chuma in a statement on Tuesday.

I Am Ready For Real Madrid Task: Kylian Mbappé

Kylian Mbappé: “My French teammates (Camavinga, Tchouameni) always told me come here. Vinicius also texted me A LOT.

Vinicius Junior is a great player, I am so happy to play with him. It’s an honor. We won’t have any problems adapting to each other.

Luka Modrić has the #10, I’m happy just to be close to him in the locker room, because #9 is close to the #10. The number doesn’t matter.

I used to watch all of Real Madrid’s games. I watched Cristiano Ronaldo and thought ‘I wanted to be like HIM!’.. nothing is impossible.

I’m a nobody in Madrid, and the fans still gave me so much love. It’s incredible.

I spoke to Pintus today on how I can be in top physical shape for next season.

Of course, I watched and analyzed Real Madrid’s matches last season so I can adapt. I want to adapt to the dressing room and to tactics. I don’t want to just score a goal and go home.

I learned Spanish because I knew I wanted to join Real Madrid. It helped me a lot.

Today is a day I’ll never forget. I knew it was going to special, but it surpassed my expectations.

Playing for Real Madrid is a different experience. It’s not just about winning trophies, it’s what the club transmits.

I’m not in the Real Madrid WhatsApp group yet (laughs).

I was so excited that I only slept 1.5 hours.”

Former Chamisa Aide Claims Zanu PF Unconquerable

By A Correspondent

Former Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) legislator Takalani Matibe has defected to the ruling Zanu PF party.

To formalize his transition, Matibe recently graduated from the Chitepo School of Ideology at the Dadaya National Youth Training Centre in the Midlands, where he underwent Marxist indoctrination among other teachings.

Previously affiliated with the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Matibe served as the MP for Chegutu West from 2008 to 2013. In 2023, he ran as an independent candidate for the same seat but was unsuccessful.

Matibe cited his decision to join Zanu PF as a recognition of the party’s strength and ongoing infrastructure development under President Emmerson Mnangagwa. He stated, “Zanu PF is unconquerable, and no amount of opposition activism can dislodge it.

The opposition is effectively non-existent in Zimbabwe.”

He expressed that instead of opposing the ruling party, he believes in contributing to its developmental agenda, highlighting improvements in infrastructure that he argues were lacking during former President Robert Mugabe’s administration.

Matibe criticized former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, accusing him of selfishness and misguiding opposition activists for personal gain.

“Chamisa sidelined many of us. I want to be relevant and play a part in building my country, which is why I joined the ruling party focused on development and inclusivity.”

Jabulani Sibanda In Deep Trouble Again

Jabulani Sibanda, the national chairperson for the Zanu-PF Bulawayo province, is facing suspension and ouster following a unanimous decision by the provincial leadership, central committee, and some politburo members. The petition against Sibanda cites a range of allegations, including incompetence, corruption, disrespect, and poor performance.

If the move to remove Sibanda succeeds, he will be the second high-profile figure targeted in less than a week, following the ouster of Tendai Charuka. Sources close to the situation report that this marks the beginning of a wider purge aimed at those pushing for President Mnangagwa to remain in power beyond the 2028 constitutional term limit.

“Members of the Central Committee and Politburo have unanimously endorsed the removal of Comrade Jabulani Sibanda from his position as provincial chairperson, citing substantial evidence of activities contrary to the party’s values and ideologies,” a reliable source stated.

“The top leadership has received, supported, and endorsed the petition to suspend the chairman from serving our organization,” the source continued.

According to the petition, Sibanda is accused of incompetence, failing to unite the party, corruption (including allegations of colluding with Charuka to defraud vendors on 5th Street), disrespect, and challenging senior Politburo members such as Comrades Tshinga Dube and Eliphas Mashaba.

A vote of no confidence will be held later, where a new interim Bulawayo provincial chairman will be announced, the source added.

However, a faction supporting Charuka and Sibanda has expressed their intention to fight the suspension, arguing that the process is unconstitutional and, therefore, null and void.

By Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has ignored to console the Chaminuka family following the death of Brigadier-General (Rtd) Michael Chaminuka.

Brigadier Chaminuka was Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s Personal Assistant when he was still the Commander of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, a position he left in November 2017 after leading a military coup against the late President Robert Mugabe.

Brigadier Chaminuka dies mysteriously on Saturday at the Trumma Centre in Harare.

He died at the age of 62.

Tuesday, Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander, General Philip Valerio Sibanda, visited the Chaminuka family and addressed them.

“This is what we do in the national army whenever we lose one of our own; we join the bereaved family to ease their pain.
“I know there are certain things you want to talk about, and you shall be given that time, but for now, we are ensuring that we bury our colleague with the respect and honour he deserves,” said General Sibanda.

He is survived by wife Dr Lillian Chaminuka and five children; two boys and three girls. Mourners are gathered at number 353 Valyonga Close in Glen Lorne, Harare.

Video of Chinese Miner Abusing Zimbabwean Employee

Video of Chinese Businessman’s Abuse of Zimbabwean Employee Sparks Outrage.

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A shocking video has surfaced online, capturing a Chinese businessman punishing a Zimbabwean employee in a brutal and inhumane manner. The disturbing footage has led to widespread calls for a thorough review of labor practices and stronger protections for workers. (video)

The video shows a male Zimbabwean employee being forcibly attached to an earth-moving machine. In full view of other workers, the machine lifts the man’s body, hanging him by the hand from the heavy equipment. The unnamed employee’s suffering and humiliation have sparked outrage and condemnation.

At the end of the clip, a conversation is overheard between a woman and an unidentified man, discussing the reasons behind this appalling act.

“But do you allow this?” the woman asks.

“I do not allow it but he is refusing. I am telling him…” the man replies, seemingly attempting to justify the punishment.

“But you need to check what the law says. When a person has committed thefts, they must just be taken to court,” the woman insists, emphasizing that the legal system should handle such matters. Another man is heard reinforcing that only the police have the authority to deal with these situations.

The release of this video has ignited a firestorm of reactions from human rights organizations, labor unions, and the general public. There is a growing demand for immediate intervention by authorities to ensure justice for the victim and prevent future abuses.

Zimbabwean government officials have been urged to take swift action against the businessman and implement stricter regulations to protect workers from such cruel treatment. This incident has highlighted the urgent need for a robust system to guarantee the rights and dignity of all employees.

As investigations continue, there is a consensus that this incident should serve as a catalyst for stronger enforcement of labor laws and increased oversight of foreign-owned businesses operating in Zimbabwe. The video underscores the need for comprehensive reforms to safeguard the welfare and rights of Zimbabwean workers.

Is Mnangagwa The Right Man To Lead Gukurahundi Reconciliation Programme?

By A Correspondent

Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has initiated a community engagement programme aimed at addressing the historical grievances of the Gukurahundi era.

The programme seeks to promote national cohesion and healing through dialogue and reconciliation.

In his statement, Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of unity and national healing, saying: “A nation can only be built by a unified people… Let us choose reconciliation over retribution and emerge stronger as a nation.”

While some observers have expressed skepticism about the programme’s effectiveness, others see it as a step towards acknowledging and addressing the past.

The programme’s success will depend on the willingness of all parties involved to engage in open and honest dialogue.

It is worth noting that Mnangagwa’s leadership in this initiative has been met with mixed reactions, given his alleged involvement in the Gukurahundi atrocities.

However, the programme’s focus on community engagement, reconciliation, and national healing may provide a platform for constructive discussion and progress.”

Condemnation Of Recent Plebiscite in Rwanda

16 July 2024

It is with profound concern that I address the recent presidential election in Rwanda. The reported results, showing a 99.99% victory for the incumbent, are deeply troubling and suggest a fundamental undermining of democratic principles.

Such an outcome is highly improbable in a genuine democratic election, where competition, transparency, and the free expression of the people’s will are paramount. This overwhelming majority raises significant questions about the integrity of the electoral process, including potential voter intimidation, suppression of opposition, and manipulation of the vote count.

True democracy thrives on the diversity of opinions and the ability of citizens to choose their leaders freely and fairly. The recent election in Rwanda fails to meet these essential criteria. I call upon the Rwandan government to uphold its commitment to democratic values and to ensure that future elections are conducted with full transparency and fairness.

I also urge the international community, including organizations such as the United Nations and the African Union, to take immediate action in investigating these electoral irregularities. It is imperative that those responsible for undermining democracy are held accountable and that measures are put in place to support a genuine democratic process in Rwanda.

I stand in solidarity with the people of Rwanda who are striving for a true democracy. Their voices deserve to be heard, their rights respected, and their votes counted fairly. The pursuit of justice and democratic integrity must remain our highest priority.

Kaka Remains Positive

Dynamos coach Genesis ‘Kaka’ Mangombe believes the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title race is wide open and the Glamour Boys can still go on and win it.

The Harare giants struggled against old foes Highlanders at Rufaro yesterday and were somewhat fortunate to lose by a respectable margin, as Bosso emerged 2-0 victors.

Mangombe conveniently blamed the defeat on the strike which saw Dynamos players boycotting training for most of last week due to outstanding signing-on fees and winning bonuses but the youthful coach insists DeMbare can still go on and win their first title since 2014 if they put their house in order.

“As for the league, it’s still open. You see, we still have many games to play, if we change our mind, our character and the way we present ourselves and also adjust to some of the problems we have, we can make it,” Mangombe told the media after the game.

“Some of the problems we have are beyond our control (as coaches). Like, we want to win yet we don’t train, if we don’t train then we are bound to lose the game. We have to train, then if there are certain issues, then they are addressed after training.

“But at the same time, these boys (the players) need their problems to be solved as well,” added Mangombe.

Dynamos, who have won just five of their 18 matches this season, trail log leaders FC Platinum by 14 points.

More Troubles For Mike ‘Mbudzi’ Chimombe

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Mike Chimombe and his business partner Moses Mpofu will spend more days in remand prison after Harare regional magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa denied them bail.

The two are facing fraud charges after they allegedly misappropriated US$7 million from the Presidential Goats Scheme.

Gofa said Chimombe and Mpofu are facing a serious charge, adding that the duo could interfere with State witnesses. Said Gofa:

In as much as this is not yet a trial, the accused were supposed to offer a meaningful defence. They do not have plausible defence. They also failed to tender documentary evidence to prove that their company documents were legit.

Chimombe and Mpofu will return to court on August 7, 2024, for indictment, as the trial will be heard at the High Court.

Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje alleged that Mpofu and Chimombe forged documents to secure the tender to supply 600,000 goats under the Presidential Goat Scheme.

He said investigations revealed that Blackdeck Pvt Ltd, the company linked to the accused, which they allegedly used to defraud the government, did not have a valid tax clearance.

The reference on the NSSA compliance certificate was issued to a different company, according to the prosecution.

It is alleged that Blackdeck Pvt Ltd was de-registered from the NSSA system in January 2016.

The court heard that acting on the misrepresentation, on 16 November 2021 the Ministry of Lands entered into an agreement with Blackdeck for the supply of 632 001 goats valued at US$87,7 million.

Between April and June 2022, the ministry transferred ZWL1.6 billion, which was equivalent to US$7 712 197, into the company’s bank account.

Consequently, their contract was cancelled on 29 August 2022 after Chimombe and Mpofu only supplied 4 208 goats valued at US$331 445.

They went on to convert US$7 380 751 to their personal use.

Critics argued that Chimombe and Mpofu’s arrest may be in retaliation for exposing alleged underhand deals between Wicknell Chivayo and the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), which implicated several high-ranking government officials.

Chivayo is an ex-convict and an associate of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, as well as a ZANU PF donor

Zanu PF Bigwigs In Masvingo Declares War Against Chiwenga

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF bigwigs in Masvingo have declared war against the party’s Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga, by blocking his ascension to power after President Mnangagwa’s tenure.

The provincial leadership, known for internal factionalism, has publicly supported Mnangagwa remaining in office until 2030, contrary to the agreement made during the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

In 2017, the Junta, led by Chiwenga, replaced Mugabe with Mnangagwa under the condition that Mnangagwa would rule for two terms and then hand over power to Chiwenga.

Last Saturday, Zanu PF’s Masvingo Province held an inter-district meeting attended by the party’s national political commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha, and senior politburo members from the province, including Lovemore Matuke, Paul Mangwana, John Paradza, and the party’s provincial chair, Robson Mavhenyengwa.

The Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, also attended.

At the meeting, the party leadership denounced Chiwenga and expressed their support for Mnangagwa to remain in power beyond 2028.

Mnangagwa had previously announced that he would not remain in office beyond the constitutionally stipulated two terms, ending in 2028. However, during the inter-district meeting, Mavhenyengwa stated that Zanu PF Masvingo Province wants Mnangagwa to continue in office until 2030.

“The message was clear from everyone in attendance that the ruling party in Masvingo wants President Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2028. We know that constitutionally the President is not supposed to continue after 2028, but if there is an opportunity, we will humbly request that he stays until 2030,” Mavhenyengwa said.

He further elaborated that this decision reflects the will of the party members in Masvingo Province, who appreciate Mnangagwa’s infrastructural projects and his vision of making Zimbabwe an upper-middle-income society by 2030.

Brian Munyoro, the party’s provincial secretary for commissariat, corroborated Mavhenyengwa’s statement, expressing unanimous support from Zanu PF Masvingo Province for Mnangagwa to continue leading the nation beyond 2028. “We are happy with the good work that he is doing, and as Zanu PF Masvingo, we want him to continue up to 2030 so that he can complete his vision,” Munyoro said.

Machacha promised to deliver this message to Mnangagwa. “You have made me happy. You were singing here at Masvingo Polytechnic; there is nothing that happens in this country without starting in Masvingo. In 2017, you sang ‘kumagumo kune nyaya’ (there is trouble at the end), and indeed we saw the end you were talking about,” Machacha said to roaring applause from the delegates.

Machacha rhetorically questioned what he would tell the President now that Masvingo wants him to stay in power, despite Mnangagwa’s expressed desire to rest after his two terms. “You are giving me a very difficult task, but I promise you I will execute the task you have given me,” Machacha added to wild applause and cheering from the delegates.

Wicknell Chivayo Business Partners Denied Bail

By Court Correspondent | Harare, Zimbabwe — In a high-stakes courtroom drama, prominent business partners Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, associated with the controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo, have been denied bail. Magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa delivered the ruling, emphasizing the gravity of their alleged offenses and the risk of flight.

Magistrate Gofa’s decision came after thorough consideration of submissions from both the defense and the prosecution. She underscored the seriousness of the charges faced by Chimombe and Mpofu, indicating that the state, through the Investigating Officer, had presented binding documents against the accused.

“From an analysis of all counsels’ submissions, this court finds that both applicants are facing a serious offense,” Magistrate Gofa stated. She pointed out that the applicants’ responses were insufficient, merely denying the allegations without offering substantial defense.

“For the avoidance of doubt, applicants were not coming from home; they were in the custody of ZACC officers, and the ZACC officials complied with the law,” Gofa explained, reinforcing the legality of the arrest and detention procedures.

The Magistrate expressed concerns that granting bail could jeopardize the judicial process. “The State has managed to proffer compelling reasons for the accused to be denied bail,” she said. “Court hereby secures the needs of justice; the applicants might reoffend, cause people to demonstrate, and they might flee to other countries. There are no bail conditions that alleviate these fears. Bail is hereby denied.”

The ruling has significant implications for Chimombe and Mpofu, who will remain in custody until their next court appearance. They are scheduled to be indicted to the High Court for trial on August 7.

Outside the courthouse, their lawyer, Ashiel Mugiya, addressed the media, indicating that they plan to appeal the decision. “We have instructions to appeal at the High Court,” Mugiya stated, signaling the defense’s resolve to challenge the bail denial.

This case continues to attract considerable attention, given the high profile of the accused and their connection to Wicknell Chivayo, a figure often embroiled in controversy. The upcoming trial promises to be a pivotal event in Zimbabwe’s judicial landscape.

The ZiG Crisis: A Recipe for Disaster

LEAD Press Statement

16 July 2024

As Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD), we are deeply concerned about the chaos and lack of confidence surrounding the newly introduced ZiG currency. The majority of Zimbabweans have not even seen the new currency, let alone used it. In rural areas, the ZiG is as good as a foreign currency, and the scarcity of ZiG coins has led to the South African Rand becoming the preferred currency in other provinces.

The situation is dire, with people in rural areas relying solely on the Rand and US dollars for transactions. The ZiG has failed to penetrate rural areas, making it impossible to convince local businesses, such as traditional beer brewers, to accept a currency they have never seen. The community has lost faith in the local currency, and it’s clear that the government’s attempts to paint a picture of stability are misleading.

The reality is that the local currency is not in circulation, and this has led to a severe shortage of money, exacerbating poverty among Zimbabweans. As LEAD, we urge the government to take immediate action to address this crisis. We recommend the following:

  1. Increase the circulation of the ZiG currency to ensure it reaches rural areas.
  2. Implement policies to boost confidence in the local currency.
  3. Provide education and awareness programs to help Zimbabweans understand the value and use of the ZiG.
  4. Address the scarcity of ZiG coins and ensure their availability in all provinces.

To our fellow Zimbabweans, we offer a message of hope. We understand the struggles you are facing, and we are committed to working towards a solution. Let us stand together and demand better from our leaders. We can build a more stable and prosperous economy, but it requires collective effort and a willingness to listen to the voices of the people.

Let us rise above this crisis and work towards a brighter future for all Zimbabweans.

Gukurahundi Community Engagement : Do You Think Mnangagwa Is Sincere In Whole Process?

A pot of burnt rice was found on the stove, suggesting a possible cause of the smoke.

The victims were rushed to a local clinic in Kuwadzana, where the two juveniles were pronounced dead on admission. The other three victims were referred to Sally Mugabe Hospital for further treatment and are currently admitted.

The incident is currently under investigation, and more information will be released as it becomes available.”

DeMbare Splash USD 1000 On Sangoma?

Harare giants Dynamos reportedly splashed US$1000 on a traditional healer ahead of last Sunday’s showdown against old foes Highlanders but still lost the clash.

DeMbare, whose financial challenges culminated in players boycotting training for most of last week, saw it fitting to pay a sangoma to ‘cleanse’ the club ahead of the Bosso clash.

Lifestyle tabloid H-Metro reports that the Dynamos leadership prioritized the sangoma at the expense of preparing players for the ‘Battle of Zimbabwe’, which they went on to lose 0-2 courtesy of goals on either side of the half time break from McKinnon Mushore and Godfrey Makaruse.

“Given the issues that were happening with the boys (the players), who were boycotting training, there was a feeling that such a payment was not the right thing to do for the club at the moment,” sources told H-Metro.

“However, the owners of the club said that this was a tradition at Dynamos and it was not going to be changed simply because the players were boycotting training.

“They said these player boycotts have been happening as long as they can remember and they come and go and this cannot be used as an excuse to stop payments to the sangoma.

“It was like they were saying that paying the sangoma was more important, in terms of getting the result which we wanted from the game against Highlanders, than the training itself.

“The message was like as long as we satisfied the sangoma then we did not need to worry about the issues that had happened at training because the club would still be in a position to compete against Highlanders.

LEAKED: Zim Rugby Union Misused $50,000 Meant for Players, Memo Alleges

Harare, Zimbabwe – July 16, 2024

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | In a shocking memorandum addressed to several high-ranking officials, including the Honourable Minister of Sport, Arts, and Recreation, Emily Jesaya, and Excellency First Lady Dr. Auxilia Mnangagwa, serious allegations of financial mismanagement and player neglect within the Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) have come to light. The letter, authored by Mr. Gerald Maguranyanga, a concerned parent and former ZRU board member, outlines a series of disturbing incidents and calls for urgent investigation and reform.

Key Allegations:

  1. Misuse of Funds: Mr. Maguranyanga claims that $50,000, which he personally sourced for the 7s Rugby national players, was never received by the players. This matter, he asserts, was investigated by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), but the file was allegedly interfered with.
  2. Unpaid Bills and Player Neglect: The memorandum highlights a disturbing incident in Mauritius where national player TJ Maguranyanga was left stranded with an unpaid hotel bill and expired flight ticket after falling ill. His father had to rush to Mauritius to support him, only to find the ZRU had not settled his son’s expenses, causing severe inconvenience and distress.
  3. Inadequate Player Compensation: National players are reportedly being paid a mere USD 10 per day, an amount Mr. Maguranyanga describes as “peanuts” for their efforts and sacrifices. He emphasizes the need for adequate financial support and insurance for players representing Zimbabwe on the international stage.
  4. Lack of Oversight and Accountability: The ZRU is accused of operating without proper financial oversight, delaying the presentation of audited financials, and conducting elections under questionable circumstances. The memorandum calls for a thorough investigation into the ZRU’s elective AGM held on May 25, 2024.

Recommendations:

Mr. Maguranyanga provides several recommendations to address these issues, including:

  • Direct payment of allowances to players’ bank accounts to prevent misuse.
  • Ensuring national squads travel with comprehensive medical insurance and a local doctor.
  • Establishing a Medical Committee within the ZRU.
  • Instituting a Commission of Enquiry into the state of rugby in Zimbabwe.
  • Enforcing proper management of the 7s squad and ensuring a ZRU board member accompanies the national team to monitor and report on events.

Conclusion:

The memorandum underscores the dire state of rugby administration in Zimbabwe, calling for immediate intervention by the Honourable Minister and other stakeholders to rectify the situation. Mr. Maguranyanga’s detailed account of the mismanagement and neglect faced by national players raises serious concerns about the future of the sport in the country.

The Zimbabwe Rugby Union and the Sports and Recreation Commission are yet to respond to these allegations. The public and rugby community await their statements and hope for swift action to address these critical issues.

Nelson Chamisa Laments LeadershipDeficiency In Country

By A Correspondent

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has expressed deep concern over the lack of effective leadership in the country.

In a poignant address on Monday, Advocate Chamisa stated:

ENHANCED PUBLIC TRANSPORT…

The presence of bullet trains represents a significant leap in transportation infrastructure.

This photograph showcases a train journey from Osaka to Tokyo in Japan. It is truly disheartening to witness the missed opportunities and squandered advantages that have hindered our progress.

Public transportation should embody a delightful and dignified experience. It must guarantee safety, affordability, efficiency, and simplicity.

Whenever I travel to different nations, I am reminded of the natural beauty of Zimbabwe and the untapped potential we possess.

We possess all the necessary components for success.

We are equipped with everything essential to soar and prosper, barring one crucial element—effective leadership! #NewDawn #ForEveryone

It’s Not Over Yet : Genesis Mangombe

More Jail Time For Jameson Timba, 77 Others

By A Correspondent| The High Court judge has reserved judgment on the bail appeal case of Senator Jameson Timba and the Avondale 78 today. Justice Mutevedzi announced that the judgment will be ready before Thursday, 18 July.

The Avondale 78 activists, including opposition leader Jameson Timba, were arrested on 16 June 2024 after gathering at Timba’s house to commemorate the International Day of the African Child.

They have spent 30 days in pretrial detention, a period perceived by many as a deliberate attempt by the Zimbabwean courts to persecute before prosecution. This has led to widespread calls for their release and solidarity, urging Zimbabweans to join the global demand for their freedom as they appear before the courts.

The activists’ 30-day pretrial detention has raised concerns about the fairness of the legal process and the treatment of individuals involved in activism and opposition movements.

Mnangagwa Speaks On Former U.S. President Donald Trump Attack

Harare, Zimbabwe, 16 July 2024 – In the wake of the recent attack on former United States President and presumptive Republican Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Donald Trump, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has expressed profound condolences and solidarity with the United States.

In an official statement addressed to U.S. President Joseph Biden, President Mnangagwa conveyed his heartfelt sympathy and condemnation of the violent incident, which resulted in the loss of life. “Zimbabwe followed the news of the attack on the former United States of America President and presumptive Republican Party Presidential Candidate, Mr. Donald Trump, with shock and revulsion,” Mnangagwa stated.

“On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Zimbabwe, and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to extend to you, my heartfelt sympathy and condemnation of the cowardly attack, which also led to loss of life,” the statement read.

The Zimbabwean leader emphasized the nation’s solidarity with the United States during this challenging time. “We stand in solidarity with the Government and people of the United States in the wake of this unfortunate and tragic development.”

Furthermore, President Mnangagwa extended his wishes for a speedy recovery to Mr. Trump and others who were injured in the attack. He also expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. “We wish the former President and the others who were injured, speedy recovery, and express our condolences to the family of the deceased.”

The letter, signed by President Mnangagwa and dated July 16, 2024, underscores the Zimbabwean government’s commitment to condemning acts of violence and supporting international peace and stability.

Wicknell Publishes Video Of Mike Chimombe Praising Chivayo Above Own Mum

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe — In a twist that underscores the contradictions and ironies in Zimbabwe’s legal and political landscape, convicted fraudster Wicknell Chivayo remains a free man despite facing serious charges of money laundering and election rigging. Chivayo, who should be in jail awaiting prosecution, is living his life unfettered while his close associates, Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, are currently on trial.

The scenario takes a more bizarre turn with Chivayo’s recent social media activity. Instead of maintaining a low profile, he has posted an old video of Chimombe during the funeral of Chimombe’s mother. In the video, Chivayo lavishly praises Chimombe, sentiments that seem more fitting for the departed matriarch. This act of misplaced adoration has sparked outrage and bewilderment, as many believe such accolades should be reserved for the grieving family and the deceased.

Chivayo’s freedom is particularly contentious given his involvement in the 2023 elections, where he is accused of corporately embezzling over USD 100 million. The elections were marred by allegations of corruption and irregularities, with Chivayo and his co-accused, Scott Sakupwanya, at the center of the controversy. As the state attempts to build its case, Chimombe and Mpofu were expected to be key witnesses, providing critical testimony against Chivayo and Sakupwanya.

However, the government’s efforts to bring Chivayo to justice appear inconsistent and selective. While Chimombe and Mpofu face the judicial process head-on, Chivayo continues to evade incarceration, raising questions about the efficacy and impartiality of the legal system. The situation has not only highlighted the deep-seated issues within Zimbabwe’s judiciary but also cast a spotlight on the intricate web of political connections that seem to shield influential individuals from accountability.

Chimombe and Mpofu’s trials are ongoing, with both men staunchly defending their innocence. Their testimonies could potentially unravel the complex mechanisms of election rigging and financial misdeeds that have plagued Zimbabwe’s political arena. Yet, the man at the heart of these allegations, Chivayo, appears unperturbed, engaging in public displays of camaraderie that starkly contrast with the gravity of his alleged crimes.

Critics argue that Chivayo’s continued liberty undermines the rule of law and sets a dangerous precedent. It suggests that those with sufficient influence and resources can maneuver their way out of legal predicaments, leaving their less connected associates to bear the brunt of the legal repercussions. This perception of judicial bias and selective justice erodes public trust in the system and fuels cynicism about the possibility of genuine reform.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the public and international observers watch closely, hoping for a resolution that upholds justice and accountability. The outcome of Chimombe and Mpofu’s trials, alongside any future actions against Chivayo, will be pivotal in determining whether Zimbabwe can overcome its reputation for legal and political inconsistencies.

In the meantime, Chivayo’s audacious social media antics serve as a stark reminder of the disparities in how justice is administered, and the ongoing struggle to achieve transparency and fairness in the face of entrenched corruption and influence. Video:

With the History of Presidential Assassinations in the USA, Zim is a Heaven on Earth- Mavaza

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza | Political violence is a barbaric crime that is never excused. The media has made it appear as if political violence is embedded in the fabric of Africa. The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on a Sabbath has reopened several closed files. It is surprising but true that there have been multiple instances of political violence targeting U.S. presidents, former presidents, and major party presidential candidates in America. Despite the notion that the United States is the most peaceful nation when it comes to elections, the reality is different.

Many assassination attempts, both successful and unsuccessful, were motivated by a desire to change American government policy, but in most cases, they were driven by hatred against the other candidate. This is often sponsored by opposing political parties, whether in power or seeking it. Not all such attacks, however, had political reasons, at least in America. Many attackers had questionable mental stability, and a few were judged legally insane. The Congressional Research Service reports that direct assaults against presidents, presidents-elect, and candidates have occurred on at least 15 occasions, with five resulting in death.

Donald Trump was shot by a gunman during a campaign rally on Saturday in what the FBI called an attempted assassination. Trump survived the attack but appeared to have a wounded ear. Four U.S. presidents have been assassinated while in office:

  • Abraham Lincoln: Killed in 1865 by John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theatre in Washington.
  • James Garfield: Shot in 1881 in Washington at a train station and died of his wounds two and a half months later.
  • William McKinley: Assassinated in 1901 by an anarchist in Buffalo, New York.
  • John F. Kennedy: Killed by Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963 in Dallas, Texas, as he rode in a motorcade.

Three presidents were wounded but survived assassination attempts:

  • Donald Trump: Grazed by a bullet during a campaign speech in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
  • Ronald Reagan: Shot in 1981 outside the Hilton Hotel in Washington but survived.
  • Gerald Ford: Survived two assassination attempts in 1975 without being hurt.
  • Theodore Roosevelt: Shot in the chest in 1912 while campaigning in Milwaukee but survived.

The history of political violence has long disgraced the United States. Ironically, America has given itself a peacemaker’s title and tries hard to lecture democracy to other countries. This year, America sanctioned the Zimbabwean president, his wife, and security chiefs, accusing them of fanning hatred, intimidation, and political violence in Zimbabwe. One wonders who will sanction Biden for the violence exhibited against Trump. Mr. Trump has suffered a lot of victimization, and if this were in an African country, the case would be considered political violence. In Shona, there is a saying that translates to “Roasting is best done by the mother; the child will extinguish the fire.”

When violence occurs in America, it is given a different name. Surprisingly, there are Zimbabweans like Dzvokora in America, Shepard Jail Guard Yuda in the United Kingdom, and an insulting moron known as Baba Chipeneti who glorify the evils of the USA. Elections for a new president in Zimbabwe are often described as chaotic by the media, but contrary to outside impressions, data point to a largely peaceful situation. Zimbabwe is a more peaceful country regarding elections. The press’s noise shows a horrible bias against Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwean elections in 2023 had very little violence. In relative terms, Zimbabwe is as safe as heaven. Different organizations and unbiased researchers show a down slope in political violence incidents in July, ahead of the elections. Over the past year, there was a weekly average of just four events, about one-fifteenth as many as Somalia, an African country of similar population size mired in conflict. This annual average is less than one-hundredth of the crisis events experienced by some of the world’s most conflict-stricken countries like Ukraine, Myanmar, Israel/Palestine, and Mexico.

Most incidents of violence occur in densely populated areas, which are often opposition strongholds in one-party states. So what you have effectively is street gangs going at it alongside some heavy-handed police activity. In Zimbabwe, the police are not the most efficient at it. Zimbabwe is a very political place with lots of rallies, street engagement, and political parties. People talk about politics openly, almost like a sport, compared to truly totalitarian countries.

In African countries with a history of friction with the West, violence seems to be a constant fear during elections. It is true that fears of violence in Zimbabwe are far greater in people’s minds in the West than in-country. They’re exaggerated. This week in the United States, a former president narrowly escaped death. More people are killed in a bar in the USA than during an entire election period in Zimbabwe. Yet, these places are spoken about differently.

The controversy over the late arrival of some ballot papers was a storm in a teacup, affecting a small number of voting districts. The attempted murder of Trump is more significant than the issues in Zimbabwe.

Political violence in the USA started with the murder of Abraham Lincoln in 1865. The 16th president was the first to be assassinated, shot by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865. His support for Black rights has been cited as a motive behind his killing.

James Garfield, the 20th president, was the second to be assassinated, six months after taking office. He was shot by Charles Guiteau and died after several weeks.

William McKinley, the 25th president, was shot in Buffalo, New York, in 1901 and died from his wounds.

John F. Kennedy, the 35th president, was fatally shot in Dallas in November 1963. His assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was arrested but killed before trial.

Gerald Ford, the 38th president, survived two assassination attempts in 1975. Ronald Reagan, the 40th president, was shot in 1981 but recovered. Theodore Roosevelt, running as a third-party candidate, survived an assassination attempt in 1912.

Other notable attempts include:

  • Franklin D. Roosevelt: Targeted in 1933, but the shooter killed Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak instead.
  • Harry S. Truman: Survived an attack in 1950 at Blair House.
  • George W. Bush: Survived a grenade attack in Georgia in 2005.

Presidential candidates have also been targeted, such as Robert F. Kennedy, killed in 1968, and George C. Wallace, paralyzed from a 1972 shooting.

These assassinations and attempts highlight the contrast between Zimbabwe and America. ZANU-PF is much stronger than the opposition, and public life in Zimbabwe is not tightly controlled, with no consistent repression or overt violence. In Zimbabwe, violence is generated by those with something to lose. ZANU-PF’s real worry is internal dissension and rival elites creating gangs or militias, which they police internally.

In all this, Zimbabwe is far better than America in terms of political violence.

Kagame Wins Another Huge Landslide in Rwandan Election

Kigali, Rwanda — Rwandan President Paul Kagame has once again secured a resounding victory in the country’s presidential election, according to preliminary results released late Monday evening. With 79% of the ballots counted so far, Kagame has garnered an overwhelming 99% of the vote, the country’s electoral body announced.

Election results

Kagame, who has been a dominant political figure in Rwanda since 1994, achieved a similar landslide victory in the 2017 election. As polling stations opened at 7 a.m. local time on Monday, voters queued up patiently, eager to exercise their civic duty. By 3 p.m. local time, polling stations had closed, and the vote counting process commenced.

Across the East African nation, more than nine million people were registered to vote in this election. The high voter turnout and smooth voting process were noted by many. Barimukije Pheneas, casting his ballot at the Rwandexco polling centre in Kigali, expressed his support for the 66-year-old incumbent. “We voted smoothly without any crowding, and we are happy,” Pheneas said. “I voted for Paul Kagame because he has achieved a lot for us; he united us.”

Motorcycle taxi driver Karangwa Vedaste described the voting process as calm and peaceful, though he chose to keep his vote private. “I voted for a leader I trust. The one I voted for is a secret in my heart. We will share it when he wins,” Vedaste told Reuters.

Kagame’s two opponents in the race, Frank Habineza of the Democratic Green Party and independent candidate Philippe Mpayimana, were among the only eight applicants approved to run. However, the outcome of the election was largely anticipated, given the historical context and the banning of Kagame’s most prominent critics by Rwandan courts.

The preliminary results mirror the 2017 election, where Kagame similarly dominated with nearly 99% of the vote. This latest victory reinforces his longstanding grip on power, continuing his leadership that has spanned three decades in various capacities.

As the final counts are awaited, Rwanda and the international community watch closely to see the final confirmation of Kagame’s continued presidency. The results, while not surprising to many, reflect the president’s enduring influence and the country’s political landscape under his administration.- Agencies

Exposing Rampant Looting

By Gift Ostallos Siziba

The recently published Auditor General’s report has once again confirmed that our country is being ruled by parasitic elites with neither love nor care for the positive transformation of the suffering people’s lives.

That millions of public funds can be so brazenly looted and misused in a country grappling with over 70% of accute poverty, high levels of indebtedness, food insecurity, underdevelopment, poor public services & de-industrialisation, is treasonous & a flagrant violation of our constitution that envisages Zimbabwe to be a genuinely developmental constitutional Republic.

The AG’s report once again confirms that Zanu has no capacity to govern Zimbabwe productively, legitimately & in line with the principles of good governance enshrined in our constitution’s founding values. The AG’s report should make every Zimbabwean angry and demand that this so called second republic together with its cheerleaders and funders must go. The AG’s report demonstrates that so long as Zanu is in government, Zimbabweans must forget about the progressive realisation of socio-economic rights codified in our constitution.

Our country is being looted in broad day light and as citizens we must take a stand and collectively solve this mess and crisis of leadership.

In such time, silence is not an option.

Fellow Citizens we must organize!

It’s homeland or death!

Highlanders completed a league double against rivals Dynamos, beating them 2-0 in the Castle Lager Premiership Matchday 18 encounter played at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

Bosso, who won the first leg 2-1, cruised to victory in the return fixture courtesy of McKinnon Mushore and Godfrey Makaruse’s goals.

The first half had a pacey start, with both teams taking chances to attack in the opening minutes.

Bosso received the first goal opportunity in the third minute but Melikhaya Ncube dragged his effort from a free-kick wide.

Mushore followed up a few moments later but was denied.

Dembare’s turn came up with a couple of threats towards the quarter hour mark, with Sydney Urikhob causing all sorts of problems from the left flank.

Temptation Chiwunga had a chance at goal during the same period and failed the reach the target.

After several attempts from both sides, Mushore finally broke the deadlock on the 24th minute and put Highlanders ahead.

In the following moments, the hosts were subdued and didn’t show any intention of recovery, except for Urikhob’s two successive efforts which yielded nothing.

The game went to the break with Highlanders in the lead.

Dynamos started the second half dominating the pace and created a couple of chances but lacked precision, while Bosso keeper Reward Muza denied them in some opportunities.

The visitors later settled and started retaining some possession. They doubled the lead on minute 75 through Makaruse’s effort.

Dynamos failed to recover in remaining minutes of the game and lost the match.

Spain Conquer Europe

BERLIN, July 14 (Reuters) – Spain’s Mikel Oyarzabal scored four minutes from time as they capped a dominant Euro 2024 campaign with a deserved 2-1 win over England in Sunday’s showpiece for a record fourth title and condemned their opponents to a second straight final defeat.

Oyarzabal finished off a swift counter-attack for the winner after England had fought back from a goal down for the fourth successive match and seemingly earned extra-time.

“I have done my job,” said Oyarzabal, who came on for captain Alvaro Morata after 67 minutes. “Just the fact of being in the 26, you value it a lot. It happened to me but could have happened to anyone.”

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente added: “I couldn’t be happier. A real team, European champions. I said I was proud and today I am even prouder. It confirms what we are. For me, they are the best in the world.”

After a cautious first half where Spain had 65% possession but England’s Phil Foden managed the only shot on target, the Spaniards struck two minutes after the restart, despite losing influential midfielder Rodri to injury at the break.

Teenager Lamine Yamal, who had been shackled completely in the first half, finally found space down the right and crossed for Nico Williams to slot home past goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Spain then enjoyed a purple patch with a series of sharp attacks as England’s previously watertight defence lost its shape and Dani Olmo, Morata and Williams all had good chances.

England manager Gareth Southgate sent on Ollie Watkins, the scoring substitute hero of the semi-final, for an ineffective Harry Kane after an hour, with Cole Palmer, England’s most creative player in the last month, joining him 10 minutes later.

DA Home Affairs Minister Targets Foreigners

South Africa- The new Democratic Alliance (DA) Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber has launched a crackdown on ‘illegal’ foreigners employed in the country.

Schreiber says he would step up inspection teams and deploy them at various businesses across the country, targeting restaurants, spaza shops, farms, and mines, to identify and take action against those found to be illegally employed.

Schreiber says the government will focus on deporting any individuals discovered to be working in South Africa without the proper legal authorisation or documentation.

Said Schreiber:

In the coming year, Home Affairs will increase the number of inspections at restaurants, spaza shops, farms and mines by over 50% to take action against people illegally employed, including through deportations.

South Africa is grappling with a concerning issue of illegal immigration and the employment of undocumented foreign nationals within its borders.

Reports suggest that tens of thousands of illegal immigrants are currently engaged in various sectors of the South African economy, despite the clear prohibitions outlined in the country’s Immigration Act and Employment Services Act.

The Department of Home Affairs has emphasised the responsibilities of employers in this matter. Businesses are required to make a genuine effort to verify the immigration status and work authorisation of their foreign employees.

This includes checking for valid work visas or permits through the appropriate channels, as well as conducting regular immigration audits to ensure compliance.

Failure to meet these obligations can result in significant penalties for employers. Under the existing legal framework, those found in violation of the Immigration Act may face hefty fines or even imprisonment.

Trump’s Inevitable Bounce Back To White House

**CAN’T TRUMP THIS…..**

By Dr. Raymond Chamba |President Trump will win this election by a landslide. He was poised for a win based on normal election metrics of who is energized to vote. The party that’s out of power is naturally more energized, and the cultural and historic shifts/issues make it even more so.

During the horrific moments Trump was nearly killed

After the attempted assassination, he is unassailable on the march to the White House. If he sounds tempered down in his Republican Party nomination speech, he will attract more undecided voters while galvanizing the Republican base to come out in numbers for November. While it was originally an election, President Trump has now been selected by destiny to take charge.

This he shall do whether the deep state likes it or not. It’s one of those situations where they will have to strategically live to fight another day, another election cycle. NATO, DOJ, FBI, and the other alphabets are due for a major cleanup. Though he survived the bullets, in the minds of Republicans and other fair-minded people, he has already attained rock star and martyrdom status.

Much as this makes no outward sense at all, because it’s America, nothing ever does in this great land of some very sick people. My strongest analysis is that there will be another attempt on him, the other guy, or any of the top congressional contenders. We have entered into a new season of “gun-manship,” and copycats are always an American staple. We pray and trust that it will be alright, as what happens here affects everything, everywhere.

This is America. No person was born better primed for this intrigue than Donald Trump. It’s not like old times, but sure is great show-time. For a political P.T. Barnum like him, this represents a divine expansion of the stage. Out of this may emerge a new person, a greater statesman allowing America to lead more again and avoid the rush to the precipice of internecine cultural wars and the close economic disaster they naturally torment and foster.

Is Mnangagwa A Man Of Empty Promises?

Source : Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa

Today, I met with President Presidente Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique and President Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi of Botswana in Maputo to sign a historic tripartite agreement for the Techobanine deep water port.

This US$6.5 billion project includes a port in Mozambique’s Matutuine District and a 1,700km railway linking Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.

This agreement is more than just an infrastructure project; it embodies the broader regional integration dream of widening mutually beneficial investments and promoting intra-regional trade.

Together, we are laying the foundation for a stronger, more connected Southern Africa.

Zanu PF Masvingo Province Rejects Genarari Chiwenga

By Tinashe Sambiri

In a strategic political gambit, Zanu PF’s Masvingo Province has officially urged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to pursue a third term in office.

This resolution comes in the wake of Mnangagwa’s recent statements suggesting he would not seek re-election, a claim many view as a political ploy.

During an inter-district meeting held last week, Zanu PF National Political Commissar Munyaradzi Machacha committed to presenting the province’s position to Mnangagwa.

The appeal reflects growing support within the party for the president’s continued leadership, highlighting internal dynamics as the nation prepares for future elections.

The Masvingo Province’s endorsement could be seen as a calculated effort to consolidate power and rally support around Mnangagwa, particularly as his administration faces mounting challenges.

Observers note that this push may also aim to project a sense of unity within Zanu PF, countering any narratives of discontent or division.

As Zimbabwe’s political landscape evolves, the province’s plea underscores the intricate dance of loyalty and ambition within Zanu PF, setting the stage for potential shifts leading up to the next electoral cycle.

UK: Mungwaru Nyakupinda Wins £167,000 Lottery Windfall in England

By A Correspondent | London, UK – In a remarkable stroke of luck, Mungwaru Nyakupinda, a Zimbabwean national based in the UK, has won a lottery windfall of £167,728.20. The ecstatic winner, a subscriber to ZimEye, shared his thrilling story with our team.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank Karma,” Nyakupinda began. “On Tuesday, 9 July, I went into Sainsbury’s to buy some stuff, and I had £3 change, so I asked for a lottery ticket. I played online, so I forgot about this ticket.”

Mungwaru Nyakupinda

It wasn’t until a recent visit to the same Sainsbury’s that Nyakupinda rediscovered his forgotten lottery ticket in his wallet. “Yesterday, I was in Sainsbury’s again, and I saw the ticket in my wallet. I asked the shop assistant to check it. I heard the sound a winning ticket makes, but the slip said, ‘Return ticket to owner and owner needs to call the national lottery.'”

Nyakupinda decided to wait until he was home and relaxed before checking the ticket himself. The suspenseful wait proved worthwhile when he discovered his significant win. “I won £167,728.20,” he announced, clearly still in disbelief.

In a jubilant message, Nyakupinda also took the opportunity to address a past slight. “If anyone knows Kerina Mujati, who once insulted me that Mungwaru doesn’t have a car, well, I have more money than Skomota,” he quipped, adding with a laugh, “Will be laughing all the way to the bank.”

This unexpected windfall is sure to bring significant changes to Nyakupinda’s life, and his story is a testament to the unpredictable nature of fortune.

Mnangagwa Steals Millions Of State Cash

Zanu PF Masvingo Province’s Defiance Of Mnangagwa Revealing His Hidden Hand

By A Correspondent| In a surprising turn of events, the Zanu PF Masvingo province has openly defied President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s public declaration that he would not seek to extend his presidency beyond 2028. This defiance is not just a regional anomaly but raises significant questions about the internal dynamics and future direction of Zanu PF, a party historically known for its strict discipline and adherence to leadership directives.

President Mnangagwa’s announcement was seen by many as a strategic move to align with constitutional provisions and demonstrate a commitment to democratic principles. However, the Masvingo province’s call for his continued leadership suggests an undercurrent of dissent or a potential orchestrated move to lay the groundwork for extending his tenure.

The Nature of Zanu PF’s Discipline and Obedience

Zanu PF has long prided itself on its disciplined ranks and a culture of following orders from the top echelon. This obedience is not just a hallmark of party unity but also a mechanism that has historically ensured the centralization of power and control. Given this backdrop, the Masvingo province’s defiance is not a trivial matter. It either points to a significant internal shift or a strategic ploy within the party’s upper echelons.

Possible Scenarios: A Reflection of Internal Dynamics

One possibility is that this call for Mnangagwa to extend his rule reflects genuine grassroots support within the Masvingo province, a sentiment that might be echoed in other regions. This could indicate a broader base of support for Mnangagwa within the party, contradicting his public stance and revealing a more complex picture of Zanu PF’s internal politics.

Alternatively, this defiance could be a carefully orchestrated move by Mnangagwa’s allies to create a groundswell of support for his continued leadership. By publicly declaring his intention to step down after two terms, Mnangagwa positions himself as a leader who respects constitutional limits. However, the unsolicited support from party regions like Masvingo could be leveraged to justify a “popular demand” for his continued leadership, effectively extending his tenure without appearing to contravene his initial stance.

Implications for Zanu PF and Zimbabwe’s Political Landscape

If the Masvingo province’s stance gains traction, it could set a precedent for similar calls from other provinces, creating a ripple effect that might pressure Mnangagwa to reconsider his decision. This scenario could lead to internal power struggles, as factions within Zanu PF either rally behind Mnangagwa or push for new leadership, potentially destabilizing the party.

Moreover, the broader implications for Zimbabwe’s political landscape cannot be understated. An extended Mnangagwa presidency could impact the country’s democratic processes and perceptions both domestically and internationally. It would also influence the opposition’s strategies and the electorate’s trust in the political system.

Conclusion: The Fine Line Between Strategy and Ambition

In conclusion, the Masvingo province’s defiance of President Mnangagwa’s declared retirement plan raises critical questions about the internal dynamics of Zanu PF and the future of Zimbabwe’s political landscape. Whether this move is a reflection of genuine support or a strategic maneuver by Mnangagwa’s camp, it underscores the complex interplay between discipline, loyalty, and ambition within one of Africa’s oldest liberation movements. As the situation unfolds, the true motivations and implications of this defiance will become clearer, shaping the future trajectory of both the party and the nation.

Chamisa Keeps Political Rivals Guessing

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has recently emphasized the importance of wisdom amid criticisms surrounding his strong biblical principles.

In a thought-provoking Facebook post, Chamisa articulated his belief that true wisdom transcends mere education, urging his followers to seek deeper understanding through spiritual reflection.

Chamisa’s statement begins with a call to prioritize wisdom, declaring it “the principal thing.”

He posits that while education and knowledge are valuable, they become limited without the guiding force of wisdom. He asserts that wisdom cannot be confined to classrooms; rather, it is cultivated in “prayer rooms,” suggesting that spiritual insight is essential for personal and societal growth.

He elaborates on the transformative power of wisdom, stating that it not only enlightens but also sharpens one’s perspective, promoting a life of rectitude and integrity. According to Chamisa, wisdom is foundational for navigating the complexities of life, enriching it with love, politeness, and happiness.

In a world rife with ignorance, inequality, and corruption, Chamisa identifies the absence of wisdom as a primary contributor to societal woes. He contrasts contemporary views that often elevate mere intellectual prowess, emphasizing instead that true honor lies in the pursuit of wisdom and righteousness—a principle he aligns with the teachings of Jesus Christ, whom he regards as the ultimate embodiment of these values.

Chamisa’s message serves as both a personal guide and a call to action for his supporters.

He invites them to trust in divine guidance, advocating for a life that embraces wisdom through faith and righteousness. His closing remarks emphasize resilience, suggesting that those who adhere to this path will emerge as heroes in their own narratives.

As Zimbabwe faces various challenges, Chamisa’s emphasis on wisdom as a tool for personal and collective empowerment resonates strongly, encouraging a deeper engagement with both spiritual and ethical dimensions in leadership and governance.

Below is Chamisa’s full statement :

SEEK WISDOM…Wisdom is the principal thing. The beginning of wisdom is to get wisdom. Seeking education and knowledge without wisdom is of limited value. Education without wisdom is foolishness. And Wisdom is not found in classrooms but in prayer rooms.

Wisdom enlightens, enlarges, sharpens, and informs all astuteness and erudition.
Wisdom promotes, provides and brings that highest esteem and irresistible honour.

Wisdom is a command to duty for every man. Wisdom guides in the paths of rectitude and transforms one into a model of rectitude.

Life is so precious that it ought to be spiced with the condiment of wisdom, love, politeness and happiness.

All gross ignorance and error, uncertainty and confusion, violence and wickedness, lack and poverty, inequality and insecurity, corruption and misery; come on account of the absence of wisdom.

The world calls men of genius and intellectual force its guardians of light. However, the heavenly standard, which is the true one, confers honours and esteem upon pursuit wisdom and righteousness. And Jesus Christ is the true definition of all wisdom and righteousness!

Trust this Jesus!! Try Him. Believe Him. Keep near Him. Choose His way, and whatever situations may arise in your journey of life, either of hardship or of triumph, you will be the star of the show and hero of the story !

Sacking of the Deputy Minister for Higher and Tertiary Education by the President – An Affront to Constitutional Justice

By Reinford Khumalo | The sacking of the Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Honourable Simelisizwe Sibanda from his post of Deputy Minister for Higher and Tertiary Education by the President Dr E.D. Mnangangwa two weeks ago is an affront to constitutional justice.  The constitution of Zimbabwe as amended on 30th September, 2018 stipulates and states specifically in Chapter 1 Sections 1 and 2 that the “Constitution is the supreme law of Zimbabwe and any law, practice, custom or conduct inconsistent with it is invalid to the extent of the inconsistency. (2) The obligations imposed by this Constitution are binding on every person, natural ion or juristic, including the State and all executive, legislative and judicial institutions and agencies of government at every level, and must be fulfilled by them.”

The incident of the dismissal of the former deputy minister as related by ZIMSPHERE on 1 July, 2024 avers, “His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Dr Emerson D Mnangagwa has, in terms of Section 108 (1a) of the constitution of Zimbabwe, removed Hon. Simelisizwe Sibanda from the office of deputy minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development with immediate effect,” Rushwaya said in the statement.

The article continues to state that “the incident that led to the former deputy Mininister’s dismissal occurred during his visit to Clonnmore Primary School where he learned about a teacher struggling to teach an Early Childhood Development (ECD) class due to her inability to speak the local language.  Parents had expressed their frustration over the situation.”

As an academic, in my addressing this matter, I would like to further quote Section 6 (4b) of the constitution pertaining to the promotion of languages.  The section states that the state must take into account the language preferences of people affected by governmental measures or communications. In this particular case, the incumbent teacher could not speak the language of the children she was supposed to teach.  How then would she benefit the children through instructing them?

Reinford Khumalo

As pertaining to culture, Section 16 (3) states as follows: The State and all institutions and agencies of government at every level must promote and preserve cultural values and practices which enhance the dignity, well-being and equality of Zimbabweans.  Section 19 (1d) referring to the development of children states that the state must ensure that children have access to appropriate education and training.  In fact, the teaching of a child even goes beyond a mere knowledge of the language of the child.  The child needs someone who knows his/her cultural values as well to groom him/her effectively to be a useful citizen.

The deputy minister’s attempt to address the issue of the transfer of the teacher was likely a step towards accountability and governance.  The president’s actions of dismissing the deputy minister may undermine these principles.  This event may contribute to the erosion of democratic norms, the rule of law and institutional checks and balances.

Section 108 (1a) used to dismiss the deputy minister is not applicable as a response to an act of oversight and the exercise of accountability and governance demonstrated by the deputy minister. In place of applying the provisions of the cited section of the constitution in this matter, the president should have affirmed and confirmed the deputy minister in his position. Its application by the president in such a manner is a violation of the constitution and abuse of power by the president.  The president’s actions, therefore, might be driven by a desire to maintain power, protect loyalists or appease their tribal base.

By firing the deputy minister for trying to address structural violence, the president may have overstepped his authority and violated the provisions for ministerial accountability and oversight.

The president’s actions may be influenced by tribal loyalty and a desire to maintain dominance rather than upholding the rule of law and protecting all citizens equally.   The initial issue of structural violence perpetuated by some individuals from the president’s tribal group may have been overlooked or condoned, perpetuating a harmful status quo.  Further, the president’s actions are a clear example of political interference, tribal favouritism, and disregard for constitutional principles.  The firing of the deputy minister is seen as a form of retaliation against someone trying to address systemic injustices, thus further entrenching structural violence.

This incident highlights the need for stronger institutional safeguards, independent oversight bodies and a culture of accountability to prevent abuse of power.  Further, our president needs strong advisers, people who shall not engage in singing praises to him but people who will be objective and uphold upright decisions. Like all of us, the president is human.  He can err.  However, those around him that are given the responsibility to work with him need to adhere to the principles of accomplishing good governance of the nation through the president.  Good leaders have always owed their effective leadership to their able and astute advisors.

The Rise of Delta 10 Carts: What Businesses Need to Know

The cannabinoid market is rapidly evolving, with new products emerging that capture consumer interest and drive industry growth. One of the latest trends making waves is Delta 10 THC, a lesser-known cannabinoid gaining popularity for its unique properties. Delta 10 carts, in particular, have become a hot topic within the cannabis community and the broader business landscape.

This blog explores what businesses need to know about Delta 10 carts, including their benefits, regulatory landscape, market potential, and strategies for entering this burgeoning market.

Understanding Delta 10 THC

Delta 10 THC, commonly found in trace amounts in cannabis plants, shares structural similarities with Delta 9 THC; it offers milder psychoactive effects while offering distinct side-effects. Users report that Delta 10 provides an uplifting, energizing experience, making it appealing for daytime use or for those seeking a less intense alternative to Delta 9 THC.

The production of Delta 10 THC typically involves converting CBD or Delta 9 THC through a chemical process. This conversion is necessary due to the low natural concentration of Delta 10 in cannabis plants. As a result, Delta 10 products, including vape carts, are usually derived from hemp, making them more accessible under current U.S. federal laws.

The Benefits of Delta 10 Carts

Delta 10 carts, or vape cartridges, offer several benefits that contribute to their rising popularity:

  1. Mild Psychoactive Effects: Delta 10 provides a more manageable psychoactive experience compared to Delta 9 THC, attracting consumers who prefer a lighter high.
  2. Energizing and Uplifting: Users often describe Delta 10 as providing a boost of energy and focus, which can be advantageous for daytime activities and creative pursuits.
  3. Convenient and Discreet: Vape carts are portable, easy to use, and offer a discreet way to consume cannabinoids, making them appealing to a broad audience.
  4. Legal Accessibility: Because Delta 10 is typically derived from hemp, it falls under the legal framework established by the 2018 Farm Bill, allowing for wider distribution and sales.

Regulatory Landscape

Understanding the regulatory environment is crucial for businesses looking to enter the Delta 10 market. The legal status of Delta 10 THC can be complex and varies by jurisdiction:

  1. Federal Law: United States farmers recently passed the 2018 Farm Bill, legalizing hemp and its derivatives that do not exceed 0.3% delta 9 THC content. Delta 10 from hemp fits within this definition but businesses should remain aware of regulatory developments as these could impact them.
  2. State Laws: Individual states may have different regulations regarding Delta 10 THC. Some states have explicitly banned or restricted its sale, while others have embraced it. Businesses must navigate these state-specific regulations to ensure compliance.
  3. International Regulations: For businesses looking to expand globally, understanding international regulations is essential. Different countries have varying laws regarding cannabinoids, impacting the feasibility of entering these markets.

Market Potential

The market potential for Delta 10 carts is significant, driven by several factors:

  1. Consumer Demand: As awareness of Delta 10 grows, so does consumer interest. The unique effects of Delta 10 appeal to a broad demographic, including those who find Delta 9 THC too intense.
  2. Product Diversification: Delta 10 adds another dimension to the product offerings in the cannabinoid market. Businesses can attract new customers and retain existing ones by expanding their product lines to include Delta 10 carts.
  3. Competitive Advantage: Early adopters of Delta 10 can establish themselves as industry leaders. By entering the market ahead of competitors, businesses can build brand loyalty and capture a significant market share.

Strategies for Entering the Delta 10 Market

For businesses considering entering the Delta 10 market, several strategies can help ensure success:

  1. Research and Development: Invest in R&D to create high-quality Delta 10 products. Understanding the chemical properties and potential benefits of Delta 10 will enable businesses to develop superior products that meet consumer expectations.
  2. Compliance and Legal Guidance: Stay informed about regulatory changes and ensure all products comply with local, state, and federal laws. Consulting with legal experts in the cannabinoid industry can help navigate this complex landscape.
  3. Marketing and Education: Educate consumers about Delta 10 THC and its benefits. Effective marketing strategies should highlight the unique properties of Delta 10, addressing common questions and concerns to build trust and interest.
  4. Partnerships and Distribution: Establish partnerships with reputable suppliers and distributors to ensure product quality and availability. Building a robust supply chain will support business growth and market penetration.
  5. Customer Feedback and Adaptation: Continuously gather and analyze customer feedback to refine and improve products. Staying responsive to consumer needs and preferences will enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Conclusion

The rise of Delta 10 carts presents a promising opportunity for businesses in the cannabinoid industry. By understanding the benefits, regulatory landscape, and market potential, and by adopting strategic approaches to product development and marketing, businesses can successfully navigate this emerging market.

As Delta 10 THC continues to gain traction, those who embrace innovation and compliance will be well-positioned to thrive in this dynamic and rapidly evolving industry.

Chiwenga Under Seige

Political Reporter- Supporters of a Zanu PF faction aligned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Masvingo have launched attacks on Constantino Chiwenga, blocking him from entering the Presidential succession race.

In a video circulating on social media, Zanu PF members in Masvingo are heard making it clear that Mnangagwa is going nowhere.

This is despite Mnangagwa recently hinting that he was stepping down in 2028.

It was widely believed that Mnangagwa would be succeeded by his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga.

The two reportedly made a gentleman’s agreement in 2017, when Chiwenga helped Mnangagwa oust the late President Robert Mugabe in a military coup, that Chiwenga would take over in 2028.

Through his spokesperson, George Charamba, Mnangagwa recently conveyed that he is currently serving his second and final term.

Another Mnangagwa Minister’s Daughter Arrested For Corruption

By Crime and Courts Reporter- The daughter of Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, Tanya Rozina Rushesha, has been arrested.

The 35-year-old Tanya was arrested on Friday on allegations of selling bulk fuel on the black market.

Tanya is accused of approaching,

“these business owners claiming to sell bulk fuel and convinced them to place large orders after giving her substantial payments. However, she has completely failed to deliver any of the promised fuel,” according to police sources.

However ZimEye reveals that there is a dramatic conflict that’s erupted between Tanya, and Tariro, daughter of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, over a contentious disagreement in their shared fuel business. The clash has resulted in Tanya’s arrest, with police accusing her of fraud, ZimEye sources state.

Tariro, who operates a fuel joint, is at the center of this high-stakes drama in an incident hints at a larger pattern of conflicts involving Mnangagwa’s children and their interactions with both relatives and the general public. The unfolding saga continues to captivate the nation’s attention, highlighting the intense rivalries within Zimbabwe’s political elite. The arrest marks the second time in 2024 that the child of a Cabinet Minister has been taken into custody.

In May, Neville Mutsvangwa, the son of Women’s Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, was arrested on charges of illegal currency dealing.

Neville and his two alleged accomplices spent nearly a month in remand prison before securing bail.

Following Neville’s arrest, Monica claimed that the arrest was “politically motivated” and accused Vice President Constantino Chiwenga of instigating the arrest.

Political Party Conditioning : A Case Of Patriotic Front

By Mark Simuuwe | For purposes of this write up, Political party Conditioning of a party is where members of a political party are encouraged to think about politics within specific frames, frames determined by the party to which they belong (Lilleker, 2014).

I have seen Patriotic Front (PF) members and semi-leaders blaming the PF loss in the just ended by-elections on disunity, challenges and infighting.

Mark Simuuwe

In my view, the loss has nothing to do with disunity alone. It has everything to do with failing to understand the elephant in the room.

The elephant in the room of PF is failure to understand how PF was formed and its composition, and failure to respect technocrats. As President Micheal Sata once said , “ without me, there would be a vacuum in PF”- Sata , as quoted in the Postnewspaper of about 19th July 2006.

In PF, they have no respect for the educated . This is the biggest weakness . They respect experience more than education . This is PF’s number one enemy and this is why they cannot race with parties based on a combination of education and experience.

In PF they believe that the educated and uneducated think the same way in politics- Which is a serious misnomer. This is also common in many political parties that some people think having been using insults , walking around to Mobilize and campaigning for many in years is understanding politics. Politics go beyond that because you are confronted with new situations everytime . This is why political parties come and soon get ejected in Africa .

They do not realize that there is organizational behavior which is clearly academic and is need based . The need to know is what is academic and needs technocrats to ascertain or research.

There is an educational component on management of human beings and sustainability of organizations .

This is why many political parties in Europe , Asia and USA have continued to outlive their leaders . When you look at USA political parties , there is always a group of technocrats behind the Republicans and Democrats .

The same is the case with the Communist Party of China (CPC – it has serious technocrats behind the party . Some of us have had an opportunity to study Chinese politics at Peking University to better understand their politics.

In PF, there is total dependency on experience which normally focuses on outdated politics of listening mostly to PF from the street for solutions. Use of noise, insults and daring, use of pride and force as a way of getting power is what characterize the PF.

On the unity semi-leaders like Miles Sampa are calling for, PF can never be united . You need to clear your political conscience to understand how PF was formed and what kind of members it has .

When you look at the quote for Sata above, President Sata knew what kind of members surrounded him and what kind of political appetite they possessed. Herein lies the problem. Some believe because they rubbed shoulders with Sata , then they have what it takes to manage the party . It is not a matter of having been there at the inception of PF , but how you understand political dynamics of the country.

There are too many proud leaders not wanting to let go and run under the other and that this is another weakness of PF .

In politics, you can only have one leader at a time; PF has so many leaders … most of them too proud to accept to be led .

Just as stated on the aspect of how PF views the educated, where they put political experience ahead of education and this is dangerous in modern politics. Education makes you think fast and creative . Make no mistake about it.

I am not talking of the kind of education where you simply acquire papers and take yourself as equals with those who dedicated all their time to education when they were less busy with other things; am talking of the kind of education where school and books was your only occupation; the two are different for us who have been academicians .

So those who are educated are looked down upon as theorists, thus failing to race with parties like UPND with so many thinkers .

You don’t use experience alone in politics because you are confronted with new challenges that require think-tanks.

The educated in PF can’t go anywhere in politics – they have to think above board to realize that PF is made of experience not education. The earlier the educated move out PF the better . PF can’t even rebrand – it is impossible because of the type of elements and beliefs it holds .

Solution to such crop of politicians is dissolution and new political parties formed with technocrats. The educated in PF are a laughing stock . They have been conditioned . Many of them understand what I mean by conditioning . They have been made to start thinking at the same rate with illiterates . They need to come out of PF conditioning !

It is this conditioning some of us have rejected in politics so that we are able to think independently. We support an idea when we know we have enough points on it.

Zanu PF Masvingo Province Urges Mnangagwa to Seek Third Term

Silent Killer Arrested Over US$250 Fraud

By Showbiz Reporter – Zim Dancehall and rapper Silent Killer has reportedly been arrested for defrauding a music promoter of US$250.

Reports say the musician failed to perform at a Chitungwiza gig after receiving a half down payment of US$250.

He is said to have been arrested yesterday and detained at Matapi Police Station in Mbare.

Efforts by ZimEye to get a comment from Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza were fruitless, as his mobile phone could not be reached.

The controversial musician recently fell out with his manager Elder Shambare, who accused him of drug abuse.

US$5 Million Missing From Air Zim Account

By Business Reporter- The Auditor General has unveiled massive looting at Air Zimbabwe, this time with US$5 Million missing from the national airliner’s balance sheet.

The Acting Auditor-General Rheah Kujinga, in the Auditor-General’s report for the Financial Year ended December 31, 2023, note several key issues, including discrepancies in opening balances, inventory valuation, and ongoing concern uncertainties at the national airline.

According to the report, in 2020, the Auditor-General found that opening balances did not agree with the prior year’s financial statements, with variances amounting to USD$4.89 million. Said Kujinga:

As at the beginning of the year ended December 31, 2020, Air Zimbabwe’s opening balances were not agreeing to the prior year financial statement balances.

Management could not provide a justification or correction for the variances in the opening balances amounting to USD$4.89 million.

As such, I could not satisfy myself on the accuracy of the opening balances and determine if any adjustments were necessary to the statement of financial position.

Therefore, for all balance sheet balances, valuation and accuracy of them could not be determined. The prior yearfinancial statements were modified in respect of this matter.

The AG also said an inventory count was not performed, casting doubt on the existence, completeness, and valuation of inventories. She said:

During the year ended December 31, 2020, inventory amounting to USD$14.4 million was recognised in the financial statements. An inventory count was not performed as at December 31, 2020.

As a result, I was unable to determine whether any adjustments might be necessary in respect of the recorded or unrecorded inventories. I was thus unable to satisfy myself as to the existence, completeness and valuation of the inventories.

The prior year financial statements were modified in respect of this matter.

The Auditor-General also noted that the company’s current liabilities exceeded its total assets by US$358.2 million, raising concerns about its ability to continue as a going concern. Reads the report:

I draw your attention to the fact that Air Zimbabwe incurred a net loss of USD11.1 million (2019: USD15.3 million).

The accumulated losses of USD417.4 million have been recognised to date and that the Company’s current liabilities exceeded its total assets by USD358.2 million.

In addition, there is a contingent liability amounting to approximately USD39 million arising from claims being done over the ownership of ZWPN Airbus A320.

These conditions indicated uncertainties which cast significant doubt on the Company’s ability to continue as a going

concern. My opinion was not modified in respect of this matter.

In response to the concerns raised, the Air Zimbabwe management team acknowledged the issues and committed to implementing corrective measures.

This included finalizing the relevant policy documents and aligning the organization’s accounting processes with the established reporting framework.

While the auditor noted that the organisation had made progress in addressing some of the previous audit findings, one finding from the 2021 report remained outstanding and unresolved. Said the AG:

The Commission made progress in addressing audit findings raised in my 2021 and 2022 annual reports.

I raised three (3) findings in my 2022 annual report and followed up on one (1) finding which was outstanding from my 2021 annual report.

Messi Targets Copa America Glory

The Copa America trophy is on the line this weekend when Argentina face Colombia.

Only once before have Los Cafeteros been crowned the kings of South America, back in 2001, and it is quite remarkable that they have failed to reach the final ever since.

Argentina have suffered no such droughts and are out to claim a 16th Copa America to take them past Uruguay as the outright record-holders for lifting the trophy.

The defending champions have swept through this year’s tournament while only conceding one goal and got the better of surprise package Canada in the semi-finals.

Colombia topped Group D ahead of Brazil before edging Uruguay to make the final, in a game marred by clashes between fans and players in the stands.

Zanu PF’s Plan To Lockdown Country

By A Correspondent

A member of Zanu PF’s Varakashi Team has suggested that a lockdown may be necessary to combat the spread of COVID-19.

However, political observer Masiza Weladowns has expressed concerns that the motivation behind this suggestion may be political.

Weladowns stated that the move could be an attempt to divert attention from President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s appointment as SADC Chairperson and to prevent looming protests.

Weladowns also expressed skepticism about the timing of the suggestion.

It is important to note that the WHO has been leading global efforts to combat COVID-19, and any lockdown measures would need to be based on scientific evidence and expertise.

The situation is being monitored, and any further developments will be reported.”

For now, it operates as a member state intergovernmental organization, with limited connection to civil society aspirations.”
