Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga at the nomination court on Thursday
By Paul Nyathi|Controversial MDC out going Proportional Representation legislator for Matabeleland South, Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga, says that she has no regrets standing for splinter MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe at the nomination court on Thursday while still believed to be a member of the the MDC.
Mushonga filed nomination papers on behalf of former MDC-T vice president.
The legislator was wearing a red T-shirt inscribed “Hure” (prostitute) at the back and “Me Too” in front in protest against MDC-T supporters who shouted “Hure!” to Dr Khupe at the Supreme Court in Harare last month.
She vowed to wear the T-shirt even after elections.
Mrs Misihairabwi-Mushonga said she was wearing the T-shirt in protest of people who insult women and call them bad names.
“Remember when Dr Khupe went to the Supreme Court she was insulted by youths who shouted obscenities at her.
“If you abuse one woman you abuse all of us. An injury to one of us is an injury to all of us. By wearing such T-shirts we are saying you can call us (women) names but that will not intimidate us or stop us from participating in politics. We will continue with politics even if we are called names,” she said.
“I filed the papers for Dr Khupe because I am her chief elections officer. I do not belong to the Welshman Ncube party.
“Actually there is now an MDC Alliance and even if I want to side with Dr Khupe, there is nothing wrong about that. Let us just wait for the nominations,” she said.

By Talent Gondo| Zimbabwe People First (ZimFirst) leader Dr Maxwel Shumba has castigated the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) for rejecting his nomination papers to stand for presidency adding that the forthcoming polls are a sham.
Dr Shumba accused the ZEC of rejecting his nomination papers on the grounds that those who nominated him from Manicaland, Mashonaland East and West were not registered voters in the said constituencies.
He however said this was not true arguing that he had evidence that these people were registered hence he would take petition ZEC before taking the elections body to court over the matter.
Below is Dr Shumba’s full statement.
Dear ZimFirsters, Zimbabweans and Observers alike. Today June 14, 2018 my nomination was rejected by ZEC on the grounds that the party members who nominted me from Mashonaland East, Manicaland, and Mashonaland West could not be found in their system (Voters’ Roll).
Please be advised that all ZimFirst nominating members are duly registered voters who have in their possessions the valid ZEC issued VOTING SLIPS . These voting slips will be availed ZEC and the media.
We are appalled and angry that a voters roll which cannot reconcile its data base and voting slips issued from the same system was used to reject our nomination . Worse the Mash East and Mash Central members were in okay at the respective provincial nomination centers.
ZimFirst is not taking this lying down. This is a national issue that touches all democracy living citizens. Zimbabwe cannot go into elections with a voters roll that is in shambles, hence we declare that the Zimbabwe 2018 election is an outright sham and is an attempt to defraud the citizens of Zimbabwe of their human right opportunity to elect leaders of their choice.
ZimFirsters today are mourning and if is this allowed to go unchecked more Zimbabweans will be crying come July 30, 2018. BE WARNED.
We will fight this good fight on behalf of all Zimbabwean people regardless of political affiliation . In this regard: Today July 15, 2018 our party representatives led by my Election Agent will go to ZEC Office in Harare at 1 pm to present our petition and the ZEC issued Voting Slips as evidence that demonstrates why the current ZEC Voters roll is a sham and should not have been used to reject our nomination.
After the ZEC meeting, regardless of outcome , we will hold a Press Conference (details of venue to be supplied tomorrow morning). If we are unsuccessful with our petition tomorrow we will be left with no choice but to take a ZEC to court . We will fight for a fair process. It is our given right.
I therefore, take this moment to ask Zimbabweans and the World at large to keep our members in their prayers as they fight for a fair election and and goal that ZimFirst be treated equally, fairly and our right to be on every ballot box that we met the nomination requirements.
By Own Correspondent|Extremely disgruntled Welshman Ncube led MDC members have turned against their leader on the move to join the Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance coalition following concerns in the seconding of election candidates into the Alliance.
The members who spoke to ZimEye.com on the sidelines of the sitting of the nomination court in Bulawayo on Thursday claimed that they felt rejected by their party leadership.
“Professor Ncube decided he wanted to join the MDC-T for his own good and did so without regard for the rest of us?” said an angry member of the party who was rejected from the list of aspiring local government candidates.
“Throughout the years to the elections we were made to believe that there was an Alliance agreement that included us as members of the party only to be told by the MDC-T that nothing like that existed,” said the member who asked not to be identified.
The MDC members claimed that the senior partner to the coalition, the MDC rejected most of the partners’ candidates for the elections including Senate and House of Assembly candidates indicating that the Alliance agreement never made provisons for the said candidates.
“It’s so sad that President Ncube completely failed to intervene in the situation so much that even District Chairpersons in the MDC-T claimed to be more powerful than him in deciding who was being seconded where from within our members,” claimed the members.
The very disgruntled members claimed that most of their members have since dumped the party and took refuge in the Thokozani Khupe led MDC-T which took them on board at the nomination court and registered them as it’s candidates.
“Its not a secret that a good number of our party’s aspiring candidates immediately registered as candidates under the waiting Thokozani Khupe led MDC-T and some as independents after Ncube failed to accommodate them in the Alliance,” said the member.
“We are going back to the ground to consult our members to see how we are going to rescue the party from going with Ncube,” said the member.
“Ncube has unfortunately turned the party into his personal property and makes decisions without going for congress,” he said.
The members further indicated that they are privy to information that Ncube is intending to enter into an integration agreement with Chamisa after the elections.
“We are aware that there are plans to integrate the party into the MDC-T after elections but following the behaviour of the MDC-T at the nomination courts we are not going to buy into the integration idea,” said the member.
Professor Ncube could not be reached for a comment on the matter.
By Own Correspondent| MDC Alliance President’s Chief Election Agent, Jameson Timba has dispelled rumors that the Alliance leader did not satisfy all the requirements needed by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) calling on Zimbabweans to stay focused and vote for Nelson Chamisa on election day.
Said Timba:
“Contrary to social media reports. I concluded all the legal processes for the nomination of our President at 8.30 pm on Tuesday night. At 9.50 am on Wednesday I paid the full nomination fees.
At 10am today I will appear before the nomination court for the formality of his nomination which was concluded 48 hrs ago. President Chamisa is the duly nominated Presidential candidate of the MDC Alliance. Basa takapedza chasara I vote yako.”
By Own Correspondent| Zanu Pf has beefed up supplies of party regalia to be distributed to supporters as election day draws near through the acquisition of 150 tonnes of fabric.
Zanu-PF Women’s League national political commissar Approniah Munzverengi revealed this while addressing party supporters at a “Bhora mugedhi” rally in Marondera Urban.
Munzverengi said the party leadership had sorted the issue of the new regalia which was expected in the country in the next few weeks.
“Regalia has been bought and we are expecting the lot in the coming week. We are expecting about 150 tonnes of fabric, caps and T-shirts for everyone who is a Zanu-PF cadre,” she said.
“Currently, President Emmerson Mnangagwa is on a tour of his economic development rallies, regalia is being distributed to all party supporters at the rallies.
As your Women’s League boss, I will tell you the party regalia is coming and from that 150 tonnes, Mashonaland East province will get its share.”
Below were reader reactions following the ruling on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission that the organisation must avail the voters roll with immediate effect. One newsreader said I have been waiting for this ruling all my life since the day I was born. FULL TEXT-

ZAPU and MDC Alliance will soon announce a deal, a close source in the party has said.
This comes as ZAPU leader Dumiso Dabengwa today failed to show up at the Nomination Court to register as a presidential candidate.
ZAPU leader President Dumiso Dabengwa’s name was this afternoon conspicuously missing from the list of 2018 presidential candidate list.
A source today told ZimEye that ZAPU have reached a deal with MDC Alliance to back Nelson Chamisa for president in the elections.
As the Nomination Court finalized the list of presidential candidates today one of Zimbabwe’s oldest parties, ZAPU was not on the list and party followers are said to be waiting for a full statement from the party leadership.

The Presidential Inputs Scheme has this year been launched earlier than in previous years to allow smallholder farmers ample time to prepare for the 2018/ 2019 season.
The scheme was launched on Wednesday at Supa Township in Musana, Bindura by the Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement Retired Air Chief Marshal Perrance Shiri (Retired).
The programme is targeting 1,8 million smallholder farmers countrywide and vegetables such as cabbages, carrots and rape have also been included in the scheme.
Minister Shiri said the programme was also extended to cotton, targeting 400 000 smallholder farmers to support the production of cotton in the dry agro-ecological region of the county.
“Early distribution of inputs shows our Government’s commitment to support farmers by availing critical production inputs that will result in increased productivity.
“This also gives time to mobilise and distribute the much-needed inputs before the start of the rainy season,” Minister Shiri said.
“With this early start of the programme, we hope to complete inputs distribution by end of September this year.
“We want our farmers to start planting with the first effective rains.
“It is important that the inputs are used properly for us to achieve the desired benefits.
“Agritex staff is expected to provide training to farmers and carry out demonstration before the season starts.
“The farmer training programme should be an ongoing activity throughout the season,” Minister Shiri said.
He said demonstrations should be established at appropriate sites.
“Meetings and discussions should be the norm, but these should not replace individual farm visits.”
Minister Shiri advised farmers against selling the inputs, saying those caught on the wrong side of the law would be prosecuted.- state media
cturer and a student who were accused of forging a Master’s Degree in Business Administration were acquitted after it emerged that the document was neither communicated nor presented to anyone.
The student, Tasiyana Tichaona, accused of using the fake MBA to enrol for a PhD programme in Botswana and lecturer Francis Ndlovu (56) stationed at ZOU’s Harare-Chitungwiza regional campus, were acquitted after a full trial.
In his ruling, Harare magistrate Mr Eric Kadye said the alleged fake document was dropped and picked by officers manning the ZOU registry offices, but surprisingly the officers were never called to testify in court.
“The accused’s employers in Botswana were not called to court to explain on whether the fake certificate was tendered to them. State failed to prove a prima facie case,” Mr Kadye said.
In his defence, Tichaona who was represented by lawyer, Mr Passmore Mukotosi, said the allegations were malicious.- state media

A Ugandan inventor has won a major prize for a device which tests for malaria without drawing blood.
Brian Gitta, 24, won the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Africa Prize for a device that detects tell-tale signs of malaria by shining a red beam of light on the patient’s finger.
The diagnosis is ready to be shared to a mobile phone in a minute.
He developed the device, called Matibabu, after blood tests failed to diagnose his own malaria.
Malaria is the leading cause of death in Uganda, but it took four blood tests to diagnose Mr Gitta with the disease, Shafik Sekitto, who is part of the Matibabu team, told the BBC’s Focus on Africa programme.
“[Gitta] brought up the idea: ‘Why can’t we find a new way of using the skills we have found in computer science, of diagnosing a disease without having to prick somebody?” Mr Sekitto said.
The ruling Zanu PF party says it is heading for a landslide victory in the coming harmonised polls with Vice President and Second Secretary of Zanu PF Kembo Mohadi predicting that his party will win over 60 percent of the votes.
As preparations for the 2018 harmonised elections gather momentum, the Zanu PF leadership which has been addressing bumper crowds has expressed confidence that the revolutionary party will cause a major upset to its opponents.
Mohadi said given the massive support that the party is enjoying in both the rural and urban areas and the confidence that Zimbabweans have in the current administration in turning around the economy, the revolutionary party is assured of a clean sweep.
“We are ready for the elections and we are going to win. Our support base is solid, our supporters have registered to vote. As Zanu PF our thrust is in turning around this economy and the people realise and appreciate that,” he said.
Vice President Mohadi however stressed the need for media organisations to give equal coverage to all political parties saying the government is committed to ensuring a level playing field for all participants.
The elections should be free, fair and credible emphasized Mohadi.
“We are receiving complaints that we are not giving the opposition coverage. Why are you not covering them? We want them to tell the people what they are offering, it is an election, parties must sale their manifestos, let them expose themselves,” said the Vice President.
Vice President Mohadi who is also responsible for the peace, healing and reconciliation portfolio commended Zimbabweans for the prevailing tranquil environment saying the same atmosphere should be upheld even after elections, as political stability is fundamental in attracting investment into the country.

Russia have managed to score five goals past Saudi Arabia in the opening 2018 World Cup match.
The Saudi Arabians’ world crumbled around them in the second half. In the first period they fought gallantly against the hosts but their efforts came to naught.

A South African based Zimbabwean business mogul has pledged to fund the Warriors programmes following their recent success in the COSAFA Tournament.
Laston Murerwa, the owner of Last Power Spares (LPS) gave the team R40 000 for winning the Cosafa Cup in South Africa recently and he also rewarded goalkeeper George Chigova with R3 000 for his heroic penalty saves.
According to NewsDay, Murerwa said he was excited “to play a part” in supporting the national side.
“Our wish is to help the team in future endeavours. We will have to engage relevant officials and see how best we can help. Our wish is to see, not only this team prosper, but all our national teams,” Murerwa said.
“We have also heard that a lot of other companies have also shown interest in supporting the Warriors, which is a good thing.
This is our team, so let’s help our beloved Warriors.”
Lands, Agriculture and Rural Development Minister, Perrance Shiri has defended Zanu PF supporters and government officials who grabbed Tongaat Hullet land two years ago.
Addressing party supporters at a rally in Chiredzi last week Shiri said those who invaded Tongaat Hullet plots were merely exercising their rights as sons and daughters of the soil.
Former President Robert Mugabe spoke against the continued occupation of Tongaat Hullet land when he visited the sugar producing giant last year.
“There is nothing wrong with the occupation of Tongaat Hullet land. We fought for the liberation of this country- to be precise, the war was about taking back our land that had been taken from us by white settlers.
As we have always said, there is no going back on the land issue,”declared Shiri in typical military style.
The ruling party Zanu PF has projected that 80 000 supporters will attend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’ s rally at Mucheke Stadium tomorrow.
Mnangagwa will commission a mine in Mashava and he will also visit the Cold Storage Commission premises in Masvingo before addressing the rally.
The party’ s Commissariat yesterday said the people of Masvingo were ready to welcome the veteran politician who ascended to power following the resignation of his former boss and mentor Robert Mugabe.
“We are ready for the big event and our supporters are eager to meet ED in his new capacity as the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe,” the party said yesterday.
By Paul Nyathi|The on going 2018 Zimbabwe elections nomination court has taken the glow from the FIFA World Cup starting in Russia on Thursday evening.
After four years of waiting, the opening game of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia kicks off a few hours after closure of the nomination courts.
The hosts Russia, take on Asian Saudi Arabia, and both teams will be looking to win this game, knowing that there are tougher opponents in Group A; Egypt and Uruguay.
Only two teams proceed from each group to the round of 16. Up to 32 teams are participating in this year’s World Cup.
Before kick off, the Russians have prepared an elaborate opening ceremony that will feature American star Will Smith, the United Kingdom’s Robbie Williams and Russia’s songbird Aida Garifullina.
“I’m so happy and excited to be going back to Russia for such a unique performance. I’ve done a lot in my career, and opening the FIFA World Cup to 80,000 football fans in the stadium and many millions all over the world is a boyhood dream,” said Williams.
The opening ceremony and match will be held at the Luzhniki Stadium in the capital Moscow. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3PM (GMT) and the opening ceremony will happen 30 minutes before kick-off.
The country’ s main opposition party, MDC has rejected appeals from disgruntled Parliamentary and local government candidates despite overwhelming evidence of rigging and imposition of candidates.
The Organising and Elections Departments have flatly refused to look into the grievances brought to the party headquarters in Harare – by disgruntled candidates.
Several aspiring candidates told ZimEye.com their documents were rejected by the national leadership.
“There is chaos in the party because the national leadership has rejected our genuine appeals.
I won the primary election but another candidate was imposed by the Provincial leadership,” said a disgruntled aspiring MP.
“I spent three days and three nights in Harare but nothing materialised.I was advised to embrace the situation on the ground,” said another aspiring candidate from Gutu District.
Troubled MDC Masvingo Provincial Chairperson James Gumbi has declared that he is still in of the party’s political affairs in the province.
Gumbi, who has filed his papers at the Provincial Nomination Court today as a Parliamentary candidate for Zaka East Constituency, has distanced himself from a letter circulating on various social media platforms indicating he has stepped down.
According to the letter Gumbi claimed he was battling to cope with pressing commitments.
Gumbi stunned fellow aspiring MPs today when he said he never resigned from the top post.
“The media are peddling falseho

ods on my purported resignation. I am still in charge and I will not fall into the trap of misguided detractors who are determined to soil my image,” said Gumbi.
Gumbi also accused Zanu PF of planting state security agents within the opposition party.
Joanna Mamombe with MDC Alliance President Nelson Chamisa
By Paul Nyathi|Joanna Mamombe the MDC-T Alliance candidate for Harare West has challenged her biggest rival Jessie Majome describing her as a blatant liar bent on discrediting her reputation ahead of the elections.
Mamombe made the outburst on her Facebook page on Thursday.
Following successive press statements by Hon Jessie Majome, many of which raise clearly false and libellous statements it has become necessary that I set the record straight. It is disconcerting that Hon. Jessie Majome can continue to peddle lies and in the process willfully, impugn and malign my reputation.
1. I generally had taken the attitude that I would not engage in any media exchanges with Hon. Majome as I considered these issues to be within the purview of discipline and conduct normally handled by the appropriate structures in the Party.
2. In the statement released by Hon. Majome after submission of her nomination papers on the 13th of June, she makes a false, wild and untrue statement that I had “bags of Party cards” which I distributed to the members. This is malicious in that it insinuates that these cards were ill gotten through underhand and possibly incestuous relationships with senior party leadership. It is also malicious and defamatory in that it suggests that I am a corrupt candidate and therefore not fit for public office. The facts of the matter are that I never had any bags of cards
3. I joined the Party in 2012 while studying at Chinhoyi University and therefore have had 6 years of membership in the MDC-T. Hon. Majome continues to feed a false media narrative that she generated, that I am unqualified to be a candidate because I have not had five years of Party membership which is clearly false. What baffles me is that she has the audacity to rely on an H Metro headline article which claims that I joined MDC-T in 2015. I never had any interview with this discredited tabloid to begin with and secondly, Hon. Majome should know only too well that these tabloids are propaganda outfits of ZANU PF. The fact is that I am a qualified candidate for the National Assembly and have met all criteria set by the MDC-T to contest in the primary elections.
4. Hon. Majome believes and alleges that I am not from Harare West. This is false. My father has a property in Harare west whose address I have used for the registration purposes. I have stayed in this house from childhood. My mother has a property in Glennorah where on occasion I have also stayed. I have also been in the structures of the MDC-T in Harare West since 2013 and on several occasions attended Party meetings even at Hon. Majome’s residence. It is therefore dishonest to raise the issue of my address now that I want to contest as a candidate.
5. I was approved by the MDC-T Elections Directorate to participate in the Party primary elections after I had submitted my application. I intended to challenge Hon. Majome in a primary and therefore had mixed feelings after she withdrew. The Party has declared me as the official MDC-Alliance candidate for Harare West. I am in the process of campaigning and appeal to Harare Westerners to support my candidature. The Harare West seat is a reserved constituency under the women’s quota regulations of the MDC-T. It is therefore dishonest for Hon.Majome to allege that a primary was not done between myself and another Party member by the name Malcom (male candidate) after she withdrew.
I promise to be a true ambassador for Harare westerners in the House of Assembly to further the legislative and development agenda as mandated. As a Public Health Specialist, I particularly want to focus and further the agenda for reforming our archaic public health laws and systems. Further, our constituency faces many challenges which require urgent attention. I promise to provide leadership so that collectively we can find solutions.
By Dr Gus Manatsa| Election season in any country brings with it some crazy “vote for me” rhetoric. Politicians become “snake oil salespersons” gunning for the public’s vote. In a normal voting system, it is the candidate whose message resonates with potential voters the most who usually gets the vote. But then, in Zimbabwe and indeed many other African countries, the voting system is nowhere near normal.
The playing ground is never made level and is often biased towards the incumbent. In Zimbabwe, the system is made much more complicated by the dominance of the military in all major institutions including the so-called Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, Registrar General’s office, government departments and other such institutions. We all know the history of poor performance of commissions in Zimbabwe. Lack of funding and political interference (a polite way of describing corruption), has resulted in most commissions set up by government failing to deliver in terms of the Constitution, rendering them useless and a burden to the nation’s fiscus. Add to that, poor governance, recycling of underperforming ministers and a shameless spirit of entitlement.
The military junta has regularly pronounced that they will not salute a toddler. They will not allow
anyone with no war credentials to rule the country. That means anyone below the age of 60 is not fit
to contest presidential position. These military strongmen have no regards for the constitution. They have ruled this country by default via the Joint Operations Command (JOC). Led by Emerson
Mnagangwa, the JOC was implicated in the violent suppression of opposition supporters between
the 29 March election and the runoff election in July 2008.
Despite what the junta would want us to believe, it is fact that some of the most progressive nations
in the world are or have been led by relatively young people. If he becomes president, Chamisa will join a growing list of successful world leaders in the 40-50 age group. On the other hand, if
Mnangagwa becomes legitimate president, he will join a dying breed of aged world leaders. For
example, at 71, Donald Trump is the oldest USA president (at inauguration).
Some of the best performing American presidents were in their early or mid-40s when they were
sworn-in. Theodore Roosevelt was only 42 when he became president. In polls of historians and
political scientists, Roosevelt is generally ranked as one of the five best presidents. JF Kennedy was
43 when he became president of the USA. Young, daring and charismatic, he challenged the
Americans to dig deep and land a man on the moon (spaghetti roads anybody). Kennedy continues to rank highly in historians’ polls of U.S. presidents and with the public. His average approval rating of 70% is the highest of any president in Gallup’s history of systematically measuring job approval. A
brave champion and supporter of the civil rights movement, JFK verbally supported racial integration and civil rights.
At 46, Bill Clinton became one of the youngest America presidents, who delivered a budget surplus, the first such surplus since 1969 (something Zimbabwe can desperately needs). Clinton left office with the highest end-of-office approval rating of any U.S. president since World War II, and he has continually scored high in the historical rankings of U.S. presidents, consistently placing in the top third.
We all remember the dreamy ascendency of one Barack Obama to the highest USA office in 2008, at
the age of 47. Obama overcame all manner of attacks both during his campaigns and presidency
(including Donald Trump’s birther movement). During his 8 years in office, Obama signed many
landmark bills into law including the Affordable Care Act (dubbed Obamacare) and spearheaded the Climate change Paris Agreement.
Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga at the nomination court
By Paul Nyathi|Controversial former MDC parliamentarian Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga has emerged at the Presidential Nomination Court delivering splinter MDC-T leader Thokozani Khupe’s nomination papers.
Dressed in a red jersey marked “HURE” at the back and “ME TOO” in front, Mushonga left the public shell shocked on her unexpected appearance.
The message on her jersey refers to very sexually derogative insults that were thrown at Khupe by demonstrating MDC-T supporters when she appeared at the High Court in Harare on a case against the Nelson Chamisa led MDC-T faction.
ZimEye.com could not immediately determine the relationship between Mushonga and Khupe. Sources, however, indicated that Mushonga who was recently dumped by the Welshman Ncube led MDC is leading the Khupe faction women’s proportional representation list for Bulawayo Province.
Highly opportunistic former Zifa chief executive officer, Henrietta Rushwaya has been taken to court by a group of small scale miners who are accusing her of attempting to take over the leadership of the Zimbabwe Miners’ Federation (ZMF) through unorthodox means.
Ms Rushwaya intends to contest in the organisation’s elections for the post of president.
The group of miners under the banner Zvishavane-Mberengwa Miners’ Association (ZMMA) through their lawyers Mutuso, Taruvinga and Mhiribidi Attorneys, filed an urgent chamber application at the Bulawayo High Court citing ZMF as the respondent saying Ms Rushwaya may win through rigging.
They want an interim order interdicting ZMF from proceeding with the elections, arguing that the process is fraught with irregularities and vote buying by Ms Rushwaya.
ZMMA wants the elections for a new ZMF national executive postponed indefinitely citing interference by members of the federation’s general council.
ZMF was formed in 2003, mainly to champion the interests of small scale and artisanal miners.
In his founding affidavit, ZMMA chairperson, Mr Thembinkosi Sibanda said ZMF unprocedurally admitted 13 new associations to join the federation.
He queried Ms Rushwaya’s intention to run for the ZMF presidency yet she is not affiliated to the organisation.
Mr Sibanda said Ms Rushwaya paid $6 500 affiliation fees for the 13 new associations whose admission was irregular and a violation of the ZMF constitution.
“(Ms) Henrietta Rushwaya was during the general council meeting held on June 1, 2018 announced to be the person running for the post of ZMF president in the national executive committee. This was my first time since I have been in the federation to learn that Rushwaya was an affiliate of ZMF, a miner or member of any miners’ association. Is she a miner and which mine does she own?” he queried.
Mr Sibanda said the circumstances under which Ms Rushwaya joined the ZMF was questionable and shrouded in controversy.
“I find it odd that she (Ms Rushwaya) paid subscription fees for the 13 new associations. One wonders what her relationship is with any of or all of these associations to the extent of paying their affiliation fees. This is suspicious and clearly there could be a relationship between the 13 associations and Rushwaya,” he said.
Mr Sibanda said the voting process has already been tainted with impropriety.
“There must be an investigation to establish who the 13 associations are, when did they register and join ZMF and what links do they have with Rushwaya. I submit that voter confidence has been lost in these forthcoming elections, and if the elections are allowed to continue on 14 June 2018 without a proper vetting exercise there is bound to be a likelihood of rigging,” he said.
“My suspicion is strengthened by the fact that Rushwaya is not new to being accused of corruption. She is a former boss at Zifa and was dismissed on allegations of corruption. In light of her previous corruption allegations coupled with the present circumstances, one is bound to keep guard and protect the reputation of ZMF.”
In 2016, Ms Rushwaya was fired as Zifa chief executive officer after a disciplinary tribunal appointed by Zifa ruled that she be dismissed for mismanagement and insubordination. She had been found guilty on the majority of the charges levelled against her.
In February 2012 ,Ms Rushwaya was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) on allegations of bribery and match-fixing linked to the Asiagate scandal. She was found guilty of failing to account for a loan made to Zifa of $103 000 and authorising a 2008 trip to Malaysia where elite club Monomotapa masqueraded as the Zimbabwe national team. Ms Rushwaya and her two accomplices, the late former Zifa board member Mr Edzai Kasinauyo and fired Warriors assistant coach Mr Nation Dube were also accused of conniving to fix the Afcon qualifier matches between Swaziland and Zimbabwe. They were however, later cleared of match fixing by a Harare regional magistrate Ms Lucy Mungwari who ruled that the State failed to prove a prima facie case against the trio. She said there was no evidence linking the trio to the scandal.
A 21-YEAR-OLD woman from Bulawayo has been sentenced to an effective 30 months in prison for dumping her five-month-old baby outside her brother’s house before disappearing for four days, only to be apprehended in a bar.
Vanessa Thabisile, who is of no fixed abode, dumped her infant daughter outside her brother, Tarven Ncube’s house in Nkulumane suburb during the night on Wednesday last week.
Thabisile disappeared and was apprehended at Sathelene Sports Bar in Nketa suburb four days later.
She pleaded guilty to neglecting a child when she appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Ms Tancy Dube.
Thabisile she told the court that she dumped the child out of desperation.
“My child fell sick and I did not know what to do with her,” she said.
Ms Dube convicted her on her own plea of guilty and sentenced her to 36 months in prison.
“Six months will be suspended for five years on condition that the accused person does not commit any offense including neglecting or abusing a child.” said Ms Dube
Thabisile will serve an effective 30 months in prison.
Prosecuting, Mr Petros Shoko told the court that on Wednesday last week, Thabisile took her five-month old daughter to her brother’s house in Nkulumane suburb at around 7 PM.
“She dumped the child outside the house and went away,” said Mr Shoko.
“On Sunday at around 9 PM, Thabisile was located at Sathelene Sports Bar in Nketa 6 by Elder Dube and Sikhulile Ncube who apprehended her and took her to the police.”
By Temba P. Mliswa|My rivals for the Norton parliamentary seat have gone into overdrive, with social media posts casting me as an unprincipled politician. Of “concern” to them is my purported “continued” links to ZANU(PF). The narrative is that I am a fork-tongued person, who, according to them, claims independence by day and is ZANU(PF) by night.
May I turn into a political lecturer for once, hopeful that my rivals will come out of this lesson well-schooled in issues of political allegiance and the separation of individual politicians and the political parties they might be aligned to.
Over and above that, I hope this will also clear the consciences of those who believe in me as a people-servant, not the wolf-in-sheep-skin Temba that is being sold to them by rival job seeking politicians.
Strangely, even those who belong to other parties besides ZANU(PF) and the MDC Alliance subscribe to the narrow political theory that you can not oppose both ZANU(PF) and the MDC. Their mistaken belief is that if you raise anything against one of the two parties, you automatically belong to the other.
As is in the public domain, I was unconstitutionally disowned by ZANU(PF) in 2015. I accepted my fate and began charting my own political path outside the ruling party. The party even employed unorthodox means against me, cheating its way to “victory” in the Hurungwe West by-election of that year. My supporters there, to this day, carry physical and psychological scars of the violence that was unleashed on them for supporting me. Refusing to take that lying down, I challenged the party in the Norton by-election in 2016. I prevailed, thanks to the people of Norton, who recognised my track record as a representative and left the ruling party with no room to repeat its Hurungwe West cheat feat.
That experience, which I relive every time I visit my farm in Hurungwe, made me make a bold decision, which I have always repeated. I repeat it here too: ZANU(PF) is the only party I have known in my political career. However, as long as ZANU(PF) fails to admit to its violent past, work positively towards making amends for it, and restore constitutionalism to its operations, I, Temba Peter Mliswa, will never want to be associated with them as an institution. Hence my continued standing as an Independent candidate in the forthcoming elections.
Now, a political party is not homogenous. Within ZANU(PF), there are people who do not subscribe to its institutional excesses. Within the MDC Alliance, there are people who do not subscribe to its institutional shortcomings. I may share a common interest with such people, without necessarily approving of the institutions they belong to. The joy of doing so as an Indendent is that I am not criminalised for it. I can do so without the threat of being fired from a party for associating with a rival institution.
My belief in the capabilities of His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa does not equate to an approval of ZANU(PF) as a party. My belief in the generational consensus as touted by Hon Nelson Chamisa does not equate to an endorsement of the MDC Alliance as an institution. Recently, the NPF party insinuated that it would back Hon Chamisa’s presidential bid. But they have not joined the Alliance, meaning they will most likely field parliamentary and local authority candidates against the Alliance, while backing the Alliance leader for the presidency.
The reason we have separate ballots for the presidency, parliament and local authorities is precisely that it is possible for a voter to vote for a presidential candidate but reject that candidate’s party in other ballots. Had that not been the case, we would simply vote for a president, whose party would then take up all the parliamentary and local authority seats.
Such is my support for ED. It is not support for ZANU(PF). Remember he was also at one point sacked by ZANU(PF), a clear illustration of the separation of the individual from the institution! He is not the personification of ZANU(PF). He happens to be in it, able to be fired from it. When Hon Chamisa says “Godisinit”, it does not make him God. Neither does it turn the Alliance into a religious organization.
Going forward, I have always believed that *youths* must eventually play a larger part in the governance of their country. That is why I support the concept of a generational consensus. In fact, even before it became a convenient campaign phrase, I made clear my ideological leaning to it by founding and leading to this day, the Youth Advocacy for Reform & Democracy (YARD).
Recently, I went back to Hurungwe West, in solidarity with my sister, Mary Chikoka-Mliswa, who was bidding to represent ZANU(PF) in the coming elections. She was successful. To some, that solidarity with a ZANU(PF) candidate is proof that I am tracing my steps back to the party. Yet no one has volunteered an incriminating piece of media with me chanting a ZANU(PF) slogan!
That is an unfortunate bid to entrench the politics of non-tolerance, even to one’s own kith and kin, that has made Zimbabwe a polarised society at all levels. A type of politics that defines political allegiances by the colour of one’s T-Shirt, instead of one’s conscience. Zimbabweans deserve better! There is a reason why the number of T-Shirts has never equated to the number of votes.
Maybe my upbringing makes me inherently tolerant and accommodating. I was raised in a family of political extremes. My father was ZIPRA while my mother was ZANLA. Tribally too. My mother is a MuManyika while my late father was of Karanga-Ndebele blood.
The joys of being an Independent derive from a freedom from institutional servitude that relegates people-service to the periphery. I can ally with any other politician, from whichever party, without the risk of a “party recall”. Being an Independent allows me to work with any politician I might share development ideology with, without being accused of betraying the party.

RE: DEVIATION OF THE 2018 SCHOOL CALENDAR
Following the proclamation of the 2018 Harmonised Elections scheduled for 30 July 2018, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education advises that schools will close for the Second Term on Thursday 26 July 2018 and open for the Third Term on Tuesday 4 September 2018. The opening of school in the Third Term has been brought forward as a measure to compensate for the early closure of Term Two. In addition, schools should put programs in place in order to ensure that no learner is disadvantaged.

SECRETARY FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
By Own Correspondent: The MDC T Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora has dispelled as false rumours circulating on social media that he has resigned from the party.
Mwonzora said contrary to the rumours, he remains Secretary General and will oversee the march towards the people’s victory.
Said Mwonzora in a tweet:
A malicious rumour is being spread that I have resigned from the MDCT. I am not, have never been and will never be a quitter. I still remain the People's Secretary General I will oversee the march towards the People's victory. We shall keep on knocking!
By Paul Nyathi|The opposition MDC Alliance is at a serious risk of a major shake up with reports that the MDC-T who are the senior partners in the coalition agreement have gravely denigrated on the coalition candidates allocation agreements.
Sources from the smaller partners to the agreement told ZimEye.com in confidence that the MDC-T spent the whole day realigning its own candidates into the Alliance partners reserved areas.
According to the sources, the MDC-T who were the only signatories to the nomination forms on Wednesday shifted goal posts and replaced some seconded Alliance candidates.
ZimEye.com is following up the matter as the Nomination Courts proceed.
HOW MNANGAGWA HAS RIGGED THE 2018 HARMONIZED ELECTIONS – By Professor Jonathan Moyo
Mnangagwa’s candidacy on July 30 is illegitimate, not only because he’s a product of a military coup, but also because he was the brutal CHIEF ENFORCER of what he has described as the OLD ORDER for 38 years. The ENFORCER can’t be the REFORMER!
As the Chief ENFORCER for 38 years, Mnangagwa was used by the Army’s Command Element, which is leading his election bid, as the ugly face behind atrocities such as Gukurahundi, the looting of DRC minerals & $15Bn of Chiadzwa diamonds!
Mnangagwa has crafted an appeasement strategy, that targets the business & international communities based on a disinformation scheme, learnt from British intelligence in his CIO days, whose design is to SAY right things & DO the opposite!
In January at Davos, Mnangagwa lied to the world through the BBC that unlike in the OLD ORDER, in which he was the CHIEF ENFORCER, Govt no longer runs elections as they are now run by ZEC. This was disinformation since Govt runs ZEC!
Asked by the BBC at Davos in January if EU & UN election MONITORS will be invited Mnangagwa lied by confusing OBSERVERS who see little, not everywhere & do nothing, with MONITORS who must see all, everywhere & correct wrongs on the spot!
In the first 20 years of the OLD ORDER, when Mnangagwa was the CHIEF ENFORCER, Govt ran elections through the Registrar General under an ad hoc Election Directorate & Electoral Supervisory Commission that had Election MONITORS as observers!
ZEC run by Govt to run elections is not set up in terms of the Constitution. Most of its full time staff are former or current Army, CIO & ZRP. ALL of TECHNICAL staff is 100% from security organs & ALL polling officers are civil servants!
On the back of the Nov coup, and the fact that Zimbabwe is under military rule, it’s unreasonable to expect a Govt run ZEC to run free, fair & credible elections. With securocrats managing its TECHNICAL operations, ZEC is a rigging tool!
While s235 of the Constitution says ZEC should “protect the sovereignty of the people” & s233 says it should “promote transparency & accountability”, proof Govt runs ZEC is the failure by ZEC to bring to order Rugeje, Hungwe & Mukupe!
ZEC’s has turned deaf & blind to ZanuPF’s threat to “repeat June 2008” if the Army run party loses the election on 30 July. Unlike the Rugeje, Hungwe & Mukupe rants, this threat was made on 6 June, AFTER election proclamation!
The plot is to rig on an industrial scale. The rigging is centered on:
(1) Manipulation of the BVR Voters Roll;
(2) Manipulation of Polling Stations by ZEC technical staff from security organs &
(3) Army intimidation of voters in villages!
Govt has seconded to ZEC a team of Chinese BVR & cyber experts from the People’s Liberation Army linked to a top Chinese university. Their remit is to manipulate the voters roll through shadowy & virtual polling stations & fake voters!
Chinese team seeks to manipulate the BVR system & create virtual polling stations to guarantee victory for Mnangagwa, whose appeasement strategy of disinformation would be used by UK govt to justify declaring the poll free, fair & credible!
Some 11 days after BVR closed for 2018 poll & a day before sitting of Nomination Court, ZEC continues to deny the opposition access to the roll, yet it has given ZanuPF hard copies.
ZEC has always done this & I can confirm it under oath.
By Paul Nyathi|THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says it is now ready for Thursday nomination court ahead of the July 30 harmonised elections.
ZEC provincial elections officers from Matabeleland region said that the commission was all systems go.
The nomination court will open at 10.00 am and close at 4.00pm country wide.
In Bulawayo Metropolitan Province the nomination court for the National Assembly candidates will sit at the magistrate’s court at Tredgold Building.
Bulawayo provincial elections officer Mr Innocent Ncube said, “We are very much prepared. We’ve already processed quite a number of papers. Those whose papers have gone through can go to the court at 3.00pm while those who are yet to submit their forms can come at 10 am when we open.”
In Matabeleland North Province, Zec was by yesterday afternoon still setting up at Western Commonage Magistrate’s court for the National Assembly candidates.
Zec provincial election officer for Mat North Mr Mark Ndlovu said the commission had secured all local authorities chambers in the province as venues for the nominations courts for Local Government Candidates.
“We are in the process of setting up here at Western Commonage Court where the nomination court will sit for the National Assembly candidates.
“For local government we have secured all the respective local authority chambers in the province as the venues,” he said.
In Matabeleland South Province the nomination court for the National Assembly candidates will sit at Gwanda Magistrates’ Court.
Zec provincial election officer for Matabeleland South Mr Rabson Nyoni said the province was all set for tomorrow’s nomination court.
“All our basic equipment and material are in place. Our staff has been trained and as I speak we are now setting up for tomorrow. All the venues have been secured,” he said.
The nomination for the presidential candidates will be conducted at the High Court and this is the first time the process has been carried out at Mapondera Building.
In previous elections, nomination for presidential candidates was conducted at the Mashonganyika Building, which is under renovations.
One hundred and twelve political parties have so far notified the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) of their intention to participate in the 2018 polls.
ZEC said even though more parties are registering daily they still have to go through a vetting process by the nomination court for them to be allowed to participate.
There seems to be a rush by many parties to register to participate in the 2018 harmonised polls as evidenced by the daily increase in numbers of new political parties which are now at 112.
ZEC chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba said the continued increase in number is not the measure of those going to participate given the rigorous vetting process done by the nomination court after the proclamation by the President.
“Parties register in their numbers usually because of the mistaken impression that they will be paid money for participating, but there is a process of vetting serious parties and candidates at the nomination court
The vetting includes the payment of $1 000 for aspiring presidential candidates and security clearance as convicted persons,” said Justice Chigumba.
By Paul Nyathi|The two MDC-T factions led by Mr Nelson Chamisa and Thokozani Khupe have agreed to disagree on the party names and symbols to be used in the forthcoming general elections.
The two have resolved to go into the elections using highly similar names and symbols that may seriously confuse the electorate.
The Chamisa led faction will field its candidates under the MDC Alliance name while the rival faction led by Dr Thokozani Khupe will stick with MDC-T.
The two factions are locked in a court battle over the use of the party’s name following an acrimonious fall out over the succession of the late founding MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai.
Deputy President of the Dr Khupe led faction, Obert Gutu said they were going under the name MDC-T but will adopt new party symbols.
“We are fielding our candidates under the name MDC-T under Dr Khupe and I’m sure you have already seen our election symbol. It’s got an open palm and face of a young child in between raising the right hand,” said Mr Gutu.
He said their new symbol had already been accepted by Zec.
“Legally, we are perfectly in good standing in terms of the election symbol, there is a variation. We are absolutely on the right side of the law. There is nothing to stop us from doing that and indeed Zec has since accepted our party symbol,” said Mr Gutu.
PDP leader Mr Tendai Biti, whose party is a member of the coalition, said as a grouping of seven parties they would be using the name MDC Alliance for this election.
“The MDC Alliance is an organisation consisting of seven different political parties and as such we are contesting the elections as an alliance,” said Mr Biti.
The MDC-T factions are fighting over the use of the name and party symbols and last month, the Supreme Court referred the matter to the High Court on an urgent basis but it is yet to be set down.
A similar set up happened in the 2008 elections when the MDC split for the first time in a situation which saw the Welshman Ncube led faction manage to wrestle several seats from the late Morgan Tsvangirai led faction due to the similarity of names and symbols.
By Paul Nyathi|Outgoing MDC-T Member of Parliament for Harare West Jessie Majome has indicated that she will be submitting nomination forms as an independent candidate disputing internal party claims that she had reached a compromise with the party leadership.
Majome dismissed reports within the MDC-T that she had accepted to be a women’s quota proportional representation candidate claiming that no such deal was ever presented to her.
“There had been reports that I had been offered a Senate seat or Proportionate Representative in the National Assembly. It is simply not true that the MDC-T ever negotiated with me regarding my decision withdrawing from the sham election. At no point did the party negotiate with me,” said Majome.
“At no point did the party even acknowledge the issues or that they were addressing the irregularities that led to my withdrawing. That is if unless that Press conference was the negotiation. I have made a decision to run as an independent.”
“I disagreed with the party because the party’s guidelines were vandalised . . . right now there were no primary elections that were held in Harare West in respect for both councillors and Members of Parliament yet there were contenders.”
Majome is set to battle for the MDC-T vote with youthful Joanna Mamombe in the election where they are certainly going to share the vote and may see the two of them lose the seat to rival ZANU PF candidate.
By Own Correspondent The Zimbabwe Republic Police is set to restructure, a development which will see the abolishment of some senior positions within the force.
A document from the Chief Staff Officer planning and development Senior Assistant Commissioner Elliot Mind Ngirandi titled “Proposed Restructuring of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Central Planning Committee Number 08/18” which has already been approved by the ZRP boss, Godwin Matanga, proposes the abolishment of some senior positions in the police force.

The post of chief staff officer press and public relations will be abolished and will be headed by an assistant commissioner reporting to the chief staff officer operations. The post of chief staff officer internal investigations will be revived.
The Minerals and Border Control Unit will be split into two, namely Border Control Unit, and the Minerals Unit.
By Own Correspondent| Dr Thokozani Khupe has confirmed that she will be running for presidency in the forthcoming harmonised polls slated for July 30 2018, party spokesperson, Linda Masarira has said.
In a tweet sent by Masarira, Dr Khupe successfully filed her nomination papers in preparation for the Nomination Court which is set to sit today from 10 am to 4 pm at the High Court .
Below is Masarira’s tweet:
We have successfully filed our nomination papers for our very able and capable presidential candidate @DrThoko_Khupe
Activists have complained that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission website portal meant to provide copies of the electoral roll has been down. In the below development, some alleged this is a vote rigging technique, as the organisation claims server outage to cover up for a total denial.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has ordered the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) to investigate the murder of a two year old boy in Glendale.
President Mnangagwa said, “I am shocked and appalled by the horrific murder of two-year-old Professor Lumbe this weekend in Glendale. My sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with Professor’s parents Rambai and Nomatter, and the entire family in this difficult time.
“There can be no such wanton acts of violence, let alone against children. We as a society must categorically reject all violence. I have instructed the police to investigate this heinous crime as a matter of urgency, to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
The police say that a postmortem has confirmed the boy was murdered.
Police spokesperson, Charity Charamba also said the father of the minor was a member of the National People’s Party and its candidate for Mazowe in the July 30 elections.
VICE President Kembo Mohadi has urged the media to give equal coverage to political parties ahead of the upcoming elections as they all had to be given a platform to sell their manifestos to voters. In an interview, VP Mohadi said when defeated, some political parties have a tendency of blaming their loss on poor media coverage.
He called on the State media to cover opposition parties in the same manner they were covering Zanu-PF.
“There are some parties that are complaining that the media isn’t giving them coverage, which isn’t right. The media must give all parties a platform to sell their manifestos to the people so that when they lose they don’t give excuses that they lost because they didn’t have coverage.
“There are more than 100 political parties that are registered and the media has to ensure that they give them all equal coverage.
“After all we are all Zimbabweans and whoever wins elections has to run the affairs of the country,” he said.
VP Mohadi said Zanu-PF was going to emerge victorious in the coming elections set for July 30.
President Mnangagwa recently called for peaceful and credible elections.
He said peace had to prevail before, during and after the 2018 harmonised general elections.
President Mnangagwa said the country was moving towards becoming a beacon of democracy on the continent where citizens can enjoy their freedoms without fear of being victimised.
He said the views of Zimbabweans were important as the country was free from colonial bondage and dictatorship.
He said citizens should enjoy freedoms of expression, the Press, religion, speech and assembly under his administration.
The President has also called on people who are going to contest in the elections to focus on issues that matter in the lives of the people.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has denied allegations made by Prof Jonathan Moyo that it is working in cohorts with Chinese cyber experts to manipulate the BVR system and create virtual polling stations to guarantee victory for Mnangagwa.
ZEC says it is at the moment carrying out a second round of the de-duplication exercise of the voters’ roll to deal with people who registered during inspection of the BVR and expects to finish the process soon, according a state media reports.
ZEC also denied that it had already availed a physical copy of the voters’ roll to Zanu-pf after Former Higher Education Minister Prof Jonathan said he can testify under aoth that the copy has been availed and it is customary for ZEC to give Zanu -pf copies in advance while denying other parties access to the voters’ roll.
“That is false and mischievous (that ZEC has availed the voters’ roll to zanu-pf). The voters’ roll will be furnished to all political parties and candidates once the commission avails it in line with the provisions of the (Electoral) Act. At the moment, we are doing a second round of de-duplication using AFIS after we had registrants during the inspection of the BVR, we expect to be finished very soon.”
The elections management body denied that there were Chinese experts that had been seconded to work with them.
“That is false, we do not have any Chinese nationals working with ZEC in any capacity,” said ZEC.
Former Makoni South legislator and Zanu PF Youth League Secretary, Kudzanayi Chipanga has approached the High Court on an urgent basis challenging illegal displacement from his headlands Workfiled Farm.
Through his lawyers, Samundombe and Partners, Chipanga cited Manicaland Minister of State for Manicaland Province, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa, Cde Christopher Chingosho, Alias Masuku, Andrew Dawson and James Chisholm to the High Court as respondents.
He accuses the respondents of occupying his Headlands farm, displacing his farm workers, his property, livestock and disturbing his preparations for the 2018-2019 farming season.
He seeks an order instructing the respondents to return the status of the farm to what it was as at the 11th of June 2018.
He additionally seeks an order barring Dawson and Chisholm from continuing ploughing on his farm.
In his application, Chipanga said he is the holder of a valid offer letter for Wakefield Farm, issued in 2016, and later entered into a private partnership with Dawson and Chisholm on 80 hectares of his land pursuant to government policy.
He added that the two occupants reneged on paying their rental obligations, resulting in him terminating their contract.
Chipanga also said that on 11 and 12 June this year, Minister Mutsvangwa, Cde Chingosho and Masuku descended on his farm together with a group of people and declared that the farm was now going to be handed over to Dawson and Chisholm.
He added that after the two took over occupation of his farm, his more than 150 cattle have no one to take care off, arguing that he has no other remedy rather than seeking the court’s immediate intervention.
On the 22nd May Zimeye Media had a live broadcast program on whether Saviour Kasukuwere had broken any immigration rules when he escaped to Mozambique through undesignated entry points to escape from a military attack during ‘Operation Restore Legacy’.
The live program was dubbed ‘ZRP TO INTERROGATE KASUKUWERE FOR BORDER JUMPING…WHY? – LET’S DISCUSS.
In conclusion to the live discussion, the majority view was that Kasukuwere had no case to answer as he left the country in fear for his life.
This week the courts acquitted him of any wrong doing. His lawyer Jonathan Samkange argued that his client left the country as a refugee, noting that the refugee status starts the moment when an individual’s life is in danger in the country of origin, not when they arrived at a hosting country.
In light of what has transpired in the Kasukuwere case, Is it the right time for Prof Jonathan Moyo to come back home?
Jonathan Moyo Case Different!
In the live discussion program one contributors had argued that Prof Moyo’s situation is different from Kasukuwere’s, as the latter had avoided being critical of Mnangagwa’s government whilst in exile. he said on the other hand Prof Moyo has remained critical of president Mnangagwa.
The question still remains: Does Prof Jonathan Moyo has any case to answer? Should he be allowed back home safely?

Sources who attended the court session confirmed that Masekesa’s court case attracted a huge attendance where Mutare citizens offered their solidarity to the journalist whom they felt was treated unfairly.
“They tortured him and deliberately humiliated him by recording the torture and posting it on social media for the whole world to watch,” said one Godfrey Muyengwa, adding that the pepetrators of violence deserved time behind bars.
“It is sad that those who perpetrated this violence are members of the security sector who teamed up and waylaid a civilian. They could have used the necessary channels instead of taking the law into their own hands for a domestic dispute,” added Sheila Dozwa.
Transport operators who also attended the court session rejoiced over the caging of the group whom they alleged had become untouchable in the city of Mutare.
“Majoni and Mwaipa intimidated and harassed many innocent transport operators and civilians,” alleged one transport operator.
Masekesa’s torture has attracted both local and international human rights groups with calls on the Zimbabwe government to act on such violent behaviors by members of the security service.
The six are being represented by Passmore Nyakureba while Masekesa is being represented by Chris Ndlovu.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa says he has instructed police to act swiftly and bring to justice the murderers who abducted and killed a two-year-old boy at Greendale, Mozowe North.
2-year-old, Professor Lumbe was reportedly abducted and brutally killed by suspected Zanu PF activists at the weekend, after his father Rambai Lumbe defected to the opposition National People’s Party (NPP) where he is Mazowe North parliamentary candidate.
Today, President Emmerson Mnangagwa sent a message of condolences to the Lumbe family sayinfg he is shocked and appalled by the heinous crime.
“I am shocked and appalled by the horrific murder of two year old Professor Lumbe this weekend in Glendale. My sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with Professor’s parents, Rambai and Nomatter, and the entire family in this difficult time.
“There can be no tolerance for such wanton acts of violence, let alone against children. We as a society must categorically reject all violence in the strongest possible terms. I have instructed the police to investigate this heinous crime as a matter of urgency, to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
“As we approach the election, I call on all candidates, supporters and members of the public to be peaceful at all times, and to ensure that the values of love, unity and tolerance dominate our political and civil discourse.”
African countries have failed to come together and vote Morocco for the 2026 World Cup handing the 2026 World Cup to the UNITED 2026, a joint bid by Canada, Mexico and United States.
Results show that Zimbabwe’s football association ZIFA voted Canada-Mexico-US, whilst neighbors Zambia voted Morocco.
Neighbors South Africa also voted voted the UNITED 2026 bid.
Why have African countries turned their backs on one of their and through away the chance to bring the most prestigious sporting event to Africa. Are the football associations failing as a content to support each other and is there a chance for Africa to host this event ever?
The United 2026 bid of United States, Canada and Mexico beat Morocco by a margin of 69 votes to host the tournament which will be expanded to 48 teams for the first time, with the United 2026 bid receiving 134 votes to its 65.
Zimbabwe Warriors defender Teenage Hadebe was involved in an accident in Bulawayo last weekend, according to Sunday News Online.
Hadebe’s sleek BMW was badly damaged in the accident that occurred near OK Zimbabwe – along 9th Avenue.

National team coach Sunday Chidzambwa included several foreign-based players in his squad that triumphed at the just ended COSAFA Cup, but the move has been questioned by outspoken soccer legend Moses ‘Bambo’ Chunga.
Chunga believes ZIFA need to prioritise development.
Chunga said the presence of regular stars such as Khama Billiat, Tino Kadewere and Evans Rusike in the team took some gloss off the success.
According to The Herald, Chunga said: “We are starved of success, but honestly, we still have a lot do in terms of development and football progression.
“Sometimes there is no need for short-cuts. We need to take the long route, but what I know is that people are not patient and this tends to put coaches under pressure.
“We cannot be celebrating the COSAFA Cup success with players like Khama Billiat, a former CAF African Player of the Year runner-up. We know what he is capable of and instead, we should be unearthing another Khama at such a tournament.”
The Warriors successfully defended the COSAFA Cup after beating Zambia 4-2 in the final.

Kuwadzana East…. out of what happened last week, so Hwende is the candidate.”
Komichi also revealed that the party’s elections directorate had resolved and endorsed the candidature of Prosper Mutseyami for Chikanga- Dangamvura Constituency in Manicaland.
“The party agreed using the same formula for Chikanga- Dangamvura where there was a lot of violence and we have done our assessment and analysis and Prosper Mutseyami is the candidate.”

By Own Correspondent| The Harare Residents Trust (HRT) has called on the City of Harare to decentralise bill payments through facilitating E- transactions for the convenience of ratepayers.
The residents organisation said it is disturbing to note that the city workers, despite being one of the highly paid workers were reluctant to embrace electronic transactions, a development which raised eyebrows regarding transparency and professionalism.
Said the HRT: “City of Harare’s financial system should be decentralised to be readily accessible and available in the local
communities where ratepayers live.
“If the City of Harare has no capacity to develop its internal payment systems to immediately reflect payments made, then that should not be the burden of ratepayers to incur further expenses travelling to the City Centre, and then walk or hire taxis to Rowan Martin Building,” said the HRT.
Full Text of the press statement by the HRT.
City of Harare Needs to Totally Decentralise Payment System
Date- 12 June 2018,
The Harare Residents’ Trust (HRT) has been closely following the conduct of the City of Harare’s Finance Department and is now convinced than ever that the local authority has no immediate plans to bring convenience to the ratepayers.
This statement is a direct rebuke of the City of Harare over its centralised financial management system which makes Rowan Martin the only place where disgruntled ratepayers have to go to for correction of erroneous billing or clarification of billing concerns, even to provide proof of electronic payments.
On 8 June 2018, the City of Harare issued a statement advising ratepayers to bring their Real Time Gross Settlements (RTGs) proof proof of payment to Rowan Martin Building so that the council processes their receipts. City of Harare financial system should be decentralised to be readily accessible and available in the local communities where ratepayers live.
Travelling to Rowan Martin is an unjustified expense which should not be tolerated by all ratepayers. These services must be availed where the people stay.
It is the City of Harare that has the duty and obligation to facilitate convenient payment of bills by ratepayers, not the other way round. If the City of Harare has no capacity to develop its internal payment systems to immediately reflect payments made, then that should not be the burden of ratepayers to incur further expenses travelling to the City Centre, and then walk or hire taxis to Rowan Martin Building.
It is nearly three kilometres from Market Square to Rowan Martin Building, two kilometres from Copa Cabana, and nearly five kilometres from Fourth Street bus terminus.
These distances are a great inconvenience to the ratepayers who have no transport of their own. Considering that the majority of the ratepayers from the high density areas are struggling to make ends meet, the City of Harare has to put in place a financial system that ensures that once one pays using any one of their electronic payment systems, some officials in the City’s Finance Department should be able to capture all this information showing records of payment for ratepayers.
How they fail to do this boggles the mind, because as far as we are concerned in the HRT, the City of Harare has some of the
highest paid workers in Zimbabwe, yet they are reluctant to do their proper work. Instead, they want it easiest, despite it being the greatest inconvenience that they can bring to the life of a ratepayer.
Residents should have the convenience of paying their bills electronically or at their local district council offices and their bills should be the ones to reflect the payments made without any undue delays.
This advertisement advising residents to go to Rowan Martin Building is a clear testimony that the City of Harare’s billing system is centralised, chaotic and not fully networked to serve the ratepayers, and give them convenience all the time.
In light of the above issues concerning the City’s billing system, HRT urges the City of Harare to address its billing system by totally decentralising it so that the residents wherever they are have convenience when they want to pay or check their bills.
It is of great concern to residents of Arcadia, Braeside, St Martins, Msasa Park, Ardbennie that they have no local district offices from where they could easily access council offices for other services other than payment of bills and collection of refuse collection bins.
Residents of Glen Norah technically have no District Office because their so-called office is located at the edges of Lusaka, Highfield near their Rutsanana Clinic. This also means residents from Glen Norah A and B have to travel more than five kilometres either walking or using kombis in order to access council offices.
Sadly, but true, the Glen Norah District Office is a former farm house, and is in a bad state. The HRT calls on the City of Harare to immediately decentralise its services and set up satellite council offices under the local District Office so that residents have a connection with their local key service provider.
Most ratepayers are aged above 60 years and for them to be moving to Rowan Martin just to present proofs of payment is an inconvenience that should never exist in this age of technology. This is an unnecessary burden. This process should be decentralized to all local communities for easy access. Centralised systems discourage residents and the billing chaos will continue unless the Council listens to ratepayers.
By Own Correspondent| Former Zanu Pf youth league boss Kudzi Chipanga is likely to lose a farm he had taken during the reign of former president Robert Mugabe amid indications of government’s plans to repossess the farm and return it to its previous white owner.
Chipanga, a staunch supporter of the former first lady Dr Grace Mugabe had a high powered Zanu Pf delegation visit his Wakefield farm on Monday which addressed farm workers and revealed that the ownership structure of the farm had changed.
This comes as former youth leader Mubuso Chinguno is locked in a bitter fight with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s aide who is reportedly eyeing his farm in Chipinge.
Chipanga and Chinguno were part of the G40 group which crumbled when the military ousted former President Robert Mugabe in November last year.
Although they maintained their allegiance to Zanu PF after their demise, some Zanu PF leaders are reportedly pursuing a vindictive agenda against the duo.
According to a letter dated May 31, the Makoni district land committee recommended to return Chipanga’s Wakefield Farm to its previous owner, one Mr Dawson, while awaiting to give the farm to Manicaland State University.
Headlands Zanu PF legislator Christopher Chingosho who attended the meeting said their meeting was above board and Chipanga deserves to leave, considering that the farm is allocated to Manicaland State University.
“We are not saying Chipanga must go but that farm has an offer letter issued out on July 25, 2016 saying that farm must be given to the university,” he said.
“Because of the divisions and fights in the party the farm was allocated to Kudzi Chipanga by Mandi Chimene and the reason being that she wanted Chipanga to come to Headlands so that he will eventually become the MP.
The plan was that at this year’s elections, as the sitting MP I will be expelled from the party and replaced by Chipanga,” he said.
Asked if their actions were part of retributions against Chipanga, Chingosho maintained that the farm must be handed back to the university.
“It’s not revenge but that farm was acquired and allocated to a university in July 2016.
I am hearing that for the first time that there are plans to give the farm back to the white owner, I don’t know about that.
It’s not retribution on Chipanga,” he said.
In Chipinge, one of Mnangagwa’s aides is reportedly eyeing Chinguno’ s Chipinge West Farm.
Chinguno, who apologised to Zanu PF leaders for his involvement in the G40 issues, said he has been at the farm since 2010 but was disturbed when people came to the farm telling his workers that they should give way to one of Mnangagwa’s close aides.-Newsday.

WARRIORS striker Tendai Ndoro spent the
weekend behind bars in South Africa for allegedly
assaulting his wife Thando.
According to media reports from down South, the
Ajax Cape Town player was arrested on Saturday
and appeared at the Boksburg magistrate’s court on
Monday, charged with assault.
He was granted R1 000 bail and the matter was
postponed until later this month.
Sowetan newspaper yesterday reported that the
striker was arrested following a “nasty” fight with his
wife of six months at their home in Boksburg on
Tuesday last week.
He allegedly strangled the complainant Thando,
before throwing a TV set at her, which she managed
to dodge.
The newspaper quoted National Prosecuting
Authority spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane who
confirmed that Ndoro is facing a charge of assault
with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Thando also confirmed that she opened a case
against her husband, whom she wedded in
December, after he allegedly tried to choke her
following a dispute over car keys.
She said she had suffered enough humiliation from
Ndoro, who she also accused of infidelity.
“He started changing around March this year. He
would always get calls from girls here and there but
it’s nothing I took seriously,” she was quoted by the
newspaper saying.
“He wanted the car keys and I didn’t give him
because I was supposed to drop my son off at
school.
“He pinned me on the bed and strangled me while
he searched for the keys. He then picked up a TV
and threw it at me but I managed to dodge it and it
hit the wall,” she said.
“I called the police but they advised me not to open
a case yet and talk things through with my
husband.”
Thando said Ndoro called a family meeting, where he
again lost his temper.
“He tried to make me sign documents stating that I
was not his legal wife as we are only married
traditionally. I refused to sign those documents and
he lost his mind and threw a bottle of juice, which
broke against the wall and pieces of broken glass
hit some people in the room.”
Thando then went to open a case of domestic
violence against the player at the Boksburg police
station.
Ndoro’s lawyer Tshepo Moshoeshoe said his client
“was doing OK”.
The incident is a huge embarrassment to the striker
who is known for flaunting his wife on social media
platforms. The two had a traditional wedding in
December.
Ndoro was part of the Warriors squad that beat
Liberia in an Africa Cup of Nations at the National
Sports Stadium, playing 71 minutes before being
substituted by Evans Rusike.
He was overlooked for the Cosafa tournament that
ended last week, and his place in the team is now
threatened by the emergence of star Tino Kadewere- Newsday.

A report by the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy said Government only realised $300 million in the form of royalties while police recovered 2 800 carats, which were due for smuggling.
Committee chair Mr Temba Mliswa presented the report in Parliament and made recommendations that a forensic audit be immediately conducted on all mining companies that operated in Marange.
“The forensic audit should be conducted as a matter of urgency on all companies that were operating from Marange. The Permanent Secretary of Mines and the Auditor General should engage in earnest all the joint venture partners that were involved in the mining of diamonds in Marange,” read the recommendations.
The committee also recommended that the police’s Minerals and Border Control unit be given adequate resources that include vehicles to curb the smuggling and theft of diamonds.
“The Minerals and Border Control Unit (MBCU) informed the committee that for the period 2013 to 2016, they recovered approximately 2 800 carats and a few arrests had been made.
The MBCU expressed disappointment in the manner in which diamond cases were handled by the police because most of the accused were acquitted as a result of loopholes in the Precious Stones Act,” read part of the report.
Police attributed smuggling and leakages to a number of factors: porous border lines, shortage of vehicles for police to conduct effective surveillance and lack of scanners and drone technology to monitor the Chiadzwa area. The committee says that it was informed by the Minerals and Mining Corporation of Zimbabwe that for the period 2006 to 2017, the country produced just over 51 million carats of diamonds with a value of approximately $2,4 billion.
“Out of that figure, the Government received approximately $300 million in the form of royalties. This is in sharp contrast to the projections that were made by Honourable Obert Mpofu in 2011 that on annual basis the country would generate revenues worth $2 billion,” read the report.

“To Black Rhinos, I think if they are to succeed, they need to throw away male chauvinism and take a leaf from the female Rhinos who have proved themselves very good players and well organised to the extent that they dominate the national women’s soccer team.
“To Dynamos Football Club, I will be honest that the founders of the club need to carry out an operation restore legacy.

While others have dismissed the rigging allegations, others have proferred anti rigging solutions.
Many are asking what to do, here are the solutions:
2. We need as many citizen volunteers to fact check the BVR when it comes out, at least 100 people per constituency, the work is easy, anonymous & quick all you need is to avail yourself & complete a task assigned.

Many are asking what to do, here are the solutions:
3. If available we will need volunteers on the ground on election day, your role will be to stand or sit outside polling stations for the duration of voting gathering data through technology we are building.

In order for a president to be nominated, he has to have 10 endorsements by registered voters from each of the 10 provinces of the country. Why is Zanu PF not complaining about this? Do they have the roll already as Prof says? Me thinks its true.
Many are asking what to do, here are the solutions:
4. So this election will be protected by the people, you & me. First we must fish out ghosts from BVR, then physically see whose going into polling stations, these 2 things are critical, opposition needs your volunteering.

Many are asking what to do, here are the solutions:
1. Participate actively in helping opposition through funding, through time distributing messages. As citizens we are forming cells to monitor this election. We have WhatsApp groups coordinating efforts online & on the ground.

By Paul Nyathi|Zimbabwe Development Party (ZDP) leader Kisinoti Mukazhe who lost in the 2013 presidential elections says that he will not be contesting this year’s elections.
Mukwazhe said the elections would not be free and fair because of “numerous electoral practices.”
“The outcome of these elections won’t be a reflection of the true will of the people of Zimbabwe, but of the manipulated, hoodwinked, suppressed and helpless electorate,” said Mukwazhe in a statement he issued jointly with Moreprecision Muzadzi leader of little known Voice Of The People (VOP) party.
“Observer missions like Sadc and Comesa have already indicated that elections will be free, fair and credible without mentioning grievances and ignoring concerns raised by most political stakeholders.”
Mr Mukwazhe and Mr Muzadzi recently approached the constitutional court seeking to be considered for funding under the Political Parties (Finance) Act, despite that they did not qualify.
Chief Justice Luke Malaba dismissed the application, saying a political party was not an income generating project, hence upstart political outfits should not burden the courts with claims of a share from the election campaign fund awarded in terms of the Act.
According to ZEC’s election roadmap, the electoral body has appointed constituency election officers and was yesterday busy holding nomination court training and set up.

By Own Correspondent| First husband to former First lady Dr Grace Mugabe, Stanley Goreraza has revealed that he hoped that “a new government” romps to victory in the forthcoming polls and retrain the security forces on professionalism.
Goreraza said this while airing his views on recent developments where former local government minister Saviour Kasukuwere exposed why he had to leave the country as a refugee following the November 17 2017 military takeover which culminated to the resignation of former president Robert Mugabe.
He described as highly unprofessional the conduct of the country’s security forces adding that such conduct was a threat to the protection of civilians.
Goreraza castigated the security forces for shooting at Kasukuwere’s residence adding that through this act, the security forces exposed their “shameful” behaviour, which costed the lives of innocent civilians including the disappearance of prominent pro democracy campaigner, Itai Dzamara.
“There is no excuse for madness of that kind. Professional soldiers defy orders which deliberately and directly result in loss of civilian lives, especially where women and children are involved,” said Goreraza.
“If we had professionals, Itai Dzamara would be with us today. Instead we have security people very much ready to commit gross human rights abuses and terror on the very people they are supposed to protect.”
Goreraza said he hoped for the victory of a “new government” come August 2018 which would retrain the security forces on the sanctity of protecting the lives of civilians especially women and children.
Below is the full text by Goreraza on his facebook page.
Profesional soldiers would not have shot at Kasukuwere’s house using deadly AK47 assault rifles. They would have moved in and ordered him to surrender himself into their custody. Unless Kasukuwere had presented a threat by firing at the soldiers, they had no right to shoot at his house.
They could have killed his wife and children whom they were and are supposed to protect at all costs even if it means losing their own lives to protect them.
Shameful. Very very shameful. I can only imagine the terror Kasukuwere’s wife and children had to endure, with members of the Zimbabwe defence forces trying to kill occupants in their house.
The Zimbabwe defence forces went to war with terrified and unarmed children and women screaming for help and mercy. It’s beyond disgusting. There is nothing more evil.
There is no excuse for madness of that kind. Professional soldiers defy orders which deliberately and directly result in loss of civilian lives, especially where women and children are involved. I understand Jonathan Moyo’s family had also sought refuge at the Kasukuwere home.
Saviour and Jonathan would have never shot at the soldiers if they were armed knowing this would result in the definite deaths of their families.
Jonathan and Chombo’s homes were also shot at and even explosives were used. Professionally done, not a single shot would have been taken.
I hope a new government takes over in August. Our security forces need to be retrained and that includes those in Intelligence and Police. If we had professionals, Itai Dzamara would be with us today. Instead we have security people very much ready to commit gross human rights abuses and terror on the very people they are supposed to protect.
But Kasukuwere, Jonathan and Chombo now have an idea how victims of Gukurahundi, 2008 and Murambatsvina must have felt. They are even lucky their family members are still alive. Many were not so lucky.
They could have been abducted and disappeared. Would we now be telling each other Jonathan is hiding in Botswana like what the same Jonathan said about Dzamara
Some of us are not animals. Whatever Jonathan, Chombo and Kasukuwere have done we cherish the lives of their children as if they are our own. Their wives are like our sisters and mothers. They should never be terrorised by armed soldiers.
But Jonathan, Chombo and Kasukuwere do not have the same hearts. They supported and defended the terror that visited so many of Mr Mugabe’s victims.
By Paul Nyathi|The ZANU PF commissariat has thrown away submissions by the Matabeleland South Provincial Coordinating Committee on candidates to represent the party in the forthcoming national elections.
The PPC met in Gwanda on Monday and rejected a list of candidates presented to it by the head office in Harare. The list of candidates included Minister of Provincial Affairs for the province Abednico Ncube who lost primary elections to ZBC staff member Omphile Marupi.
The province also disputed the inclusion of estranged wife to Vice President Kembo Mohadi, Tambudzani, who the province replaced with Provincial Chairman Rapelang Choene.
Presenting the final list of the ZANU PF candidates going into the nomination court on Thursday, the party Secretary for Administration Dr Obert Mpofu ignored the submissions made by the province retaining Ncube as the candidate for Gwanda South.
The move is likely to cause serious clashes between party members at the nomination court.
THE Ferret team has arrested two Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) officials at Beitbridge Border Post after they facilitated the smuggling of building material worth $20 200 that was destined for Bulawayo.
The Ferret team is made up of the police, other security agencies and the Zimra Anti-Smuggling Unit.
Wisdom Matsekedza (35) and Muchineripi Hokonya (32), who are both Revenue Officers, were still in custody by end of day yesterday reportedly assisting police with investigations.
Matsekedza and Hokonya are accused of facilitating the smuggling of 500 chromatic IBR roofing sheets from the neighbouring country after pocketing a R200 bribe from a man who was transporting the contraband.
Matabeleland South police spokesperson, Inspector Philisani Ndebele, could not comment on the matter yesterday referring all questions to national spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi who was not reachable.
Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission’s (Zacc) commissioner responsible for investigations, Mr Goodson Nguni, commended the police and the border authorities for the arrest. “We commend the police for a job well done and we will continue working with them in bringing all perpetrators of corruption to book and taking them to court for prosecution,” said Mr Nguni.
Sources close to the investigations said the contraband and a South African registered truck had been impounded by Zimra under notice of seizure numbers 017344 and 017 345. “The two will be appearing in court soon facing charges of criminal abuse of office,” said one source.
Another border authority said allegations against the duo arose on June 10 when Hokonya was approached by one Peter Bhobho who was transporting building material from Midrand (South Africa) to Bulawayo.
The official said Hokonya was offered R200 not to subject the man’s vehicle to searches within the border.
“He then took the customs document to his colleague (Matsekedza) and they connived to allow the vehicle a smooth passage on condition Bhobho paid them a bribe of R2000.
“They then agreed to stamp the customs documents without searching the truck and that Bhobho would pay them the full amount of R2000 soon after leaving the border arena. The trio also exchanged contacts.
“Unfortunately they ran out of luck when the truck driver was intercepted by the Ferret team at the last check point before leaving the border, where it was discovered that the bulk of the consignment had not been declared,” said the official.
According to the border official, Bhobho failed to explain how he had managed to navigate through commercial mobile scanners without properly declaring his consignment.
He pretended to be collecting more customs documents from the vehicle before fleeing, leaving the keys in the ignition.
“Police detectives later caught up with Bhobho who then implicated Hokonya and Matsekedza. The duo was arrested late on Monday afternoon and the truck was taken for physical examination. It was then discovered that the IBR sheets were concealed under iron coils,” said the source.
Zimra’s commissioner general Ms Faith Mazani confirmed the arrests.
By Professor Jonathan Moyo|Mnangagwa’s candidacy on July 30 is illegitimate, not only because he’s a product of a military coup, but also because he was the brutal CHIEF ENFORCER of what he has described as the OLD ORDER for 38 years.
(1) Manipulation of the BVR Voters Roll;
