By Patrick Guramatunhu- Health care, education and everything else affecting the ordinary people have been neglected by Robert Mugabe and now by Emmerson Mnangagwa and the consequences are there for all to see, especially now with the corona virus pandemic.
“As Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) we made it categorically clear without any equivocation or ambiguity that 98% of schools were not ready for opening but Ministry Officials claimed they were ready. Just two weeks after opening COVID 19 is spreading like wild fire in Schools in Zimbabwe. Where is the propagandist Taungana Ndoro, where is Hon Cain Matema, where is Mrs Thabela. Lies have short legs,” wrote Dr Takavafira M Zhou, President of PTUZ.
When Mugabe came into power in 1980 he was convinced he was God Almighty’s best gift ever to mankind and everything he touches will turn to gold. So when he preached about his mass prosperity, “Gutsa ruzhinji!” as he never tired of saying it, it was no sooner said than done. Most notably, he started spending big, really big!
Mr Big Spender was cocksure he was spending the nation to prosperity but was in fact doing the exact opposite. When he was finally convinced his scientific socialism was not working – no one would give him any more loan – and was forced to go ease on the spending he chose to cut spending of the soft targets but whilst the ruling elite continued to spend as if there was no tomorrow! Needless to say the economic decline continued.
When Mnangagwa took over from Mugabe following the November 2017 military coup, he hit the ground running, so to speak. He proclaimed from the rooftops “Zimbabwe is open for business!”
Other than the musical chairs that saw Mugabe and a few of his buddies booted out and Mnangagwa proclaiming the post Mugabe era a “Second Republic, a New dispensation” nothing had changed. The country was still a Banana Republic ruled by corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging thugs.
In short, there was no flood of investors in answer to his rooftop proclamation; investors are a shrewd lot they could see Zimbabwe had not change, it was still a Banana Republic. And so the big influx of investment to kick start the economy never materialised.
Mnangagwa did not dare cut the extravagant spending of the ruling elite; his continued hold on power dependent on their loyalty and cut their access to wealth and their loyalty will quickly disappear like morning mist! And so Mnangagwa, just like Mugabe before him, looked for the soft target to cut – health care, education and all those things affecting the poor and politically powerless.
It comes as no surprise at all that the government has reopened school without without making adequate provision even for something as basic as corona virus test kits and, for many school, not even running water.
“We challenge Cabinet Ministers to visit Nyamuka Primary (Manicaland), Kriste Mambo (Manicaland), Tongwe High ( Mat South), Neshangwe High (Mashonaland East), Masase High (Midlands), Chegato High (Midlands) and many other schools. Schools are running short of testing kits and in some schools after only testing ‘A’ and ‘O’ level students, more that 75 have been confirmed positive at one school. Worse still not all ‘A’ and ‘O’ level students have been tested as schools ran out of testing kits,” continued Dr Zhou.
“There is virtually no covid abatement equipment in schools, let alone running water. The bloated classes and hostels are a cause for concern, yet medalist in verbal marathon lie through their teeth that schools are ready.”
As a rule of thumb, corona virus is not so prevalent among those below 20 years of aged. The fact that there are so many students catching the virus may be because these school have become corona virus hotspots and many are succumbing because their systems are overwhelmed.
11 schools in Zimbabwe have so far been forced to close because the number of corona virus cases were too high for normal schooling to continue.
We know this Zanu PF government is obsessed with appearance and does not care about substance. The country’s official covid 19 cases and deaths have remained low at 126 817 and 4 550 respectively, clearly not all the reported covid 19 cases from the school are being taken into account.
The regime has been boasting about Zimbabwe’s low covid-19 statics, insisting it is proof of the regime’s competent management of the pandemic. This is nonsense when it is clearly a case of deliberately under reporting, especially when the price of failing to accurately accounting for the cases means many infected individuals who should otherwise be in isolation are left to spread the virus far and wide.
In January 2019, before the corona virus outbreak, the best performing school Chiredzi South constituency for Grade 7, Form 2, 4 and 6 had 3% pass rate with the majority posting 0%! No doubt many rural school will be in the same boat as Chiredzi South. Decades of being starved of adequate funding have taken their toll.
One has to question the rational behind the Zimbabwe government’s insistence on reopening schools, against teachers’ advice, turning them into corona virus hotspots and putting the health of students at increased health risk so the regime can brag it has managed to keep covid 19 cases low and thus reopen schools. And the students are running the risk for the sake of a 3% pass rate at best!

By A Correspondent- There was drama at the Beitbridge Magistrates Court yesterday when a juvenile murder suspect bolted from the courtroom and took to his heels before he was charged.
The suspect, aged 17, duped a police officer escorting him into believing that he wanted to answer to the call of nature and fled afterwards.
He was supposed to be arraigned on allegations of stabbing to death a 23-year-old drinking mate for spilling his beer in Makakavhule village.
The juvenile left the court stunned when he outpaced a pursuing policeman.
“He was fast, like a flash he left through the court gate and disappeared into the houses around and away,” a witness, who watched the spectacle, said.
He was supposed to be charged earlier, but procedurally Department of Social Welfare officers had to be at the court together with his relatives.
Some officials said when his aunt and Welfare Department officers arrived, he quickly put his plan into action.
Police with sniffer dogs were dispatched to comb the area, but he had made good his escape and was last seen on the banks of the Limpopo River.
Efforts to get comment from Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena were fruitless as her phone rang unanswered.

“I can confirm a fire incident involving a bus in Mutoko. As police, we urge drivers to thoroughly check their buses for possible mechanical faults before embarking on journeys,” he said.

He noticed that the bus was on fire and alerted passengers who disembarked safely.
Some of the passengers managed to remove their luggage before the bus was engulfed in flames.

By Nontokozo Malaba Ncube| Mthuli Ncube recently said that the Zimbabwean economy is recovering. People on the ground are wondering which economy is he talking about because they don’t see any recovery in their day to day lives.
This is not the first time Mthuli has said something that is outside reality. Does he really believe the things he says or is he in competition with Nick Mangwana for the most fiction? Which economy is he talking about? Maybe he is measuring this recovery using the economic activity that’s happening between the Zim government and the cartels through which money is being stolen? If he measured the economic recovery by looking at real people’s lives he would know that people are suffering.
I have been following his tweets these past few days and have observed something very disturbing. Mthuli likes to tweet about all this fancy stuff about technologies, trend setting what’s happening in European countries, while ignoring the plight of ordinary Zimbabweans who want a real economy with real money not this RTGS monopoly money. He is more interested in sounding intelligent and looking like a visionary if the great African recovery which by the way will never happen so long as people like his boss Emmerson Mnangagwa are in charge. He doesn’t strike me as someone who knows anything about hard graft and struggling. He knows nothing about what it is like to be a single mother of three who is a vendor.
We have heard enough nonsense from Mthuli Ncube. He is out of touch and a big part of the problem not the solution. Him, his boss Mnangagwa and the rest of the old planks in that government should bugger off after the next election. They have failed at everything dismally.

By Margret Tashayawedu| In 2019, SB Moyo the then Zimbabwean Foreign Minister famous for announcing the 2017 coup, who is late now, came to the UK and made a scene in London at Chatham House. His visit was met with protests by Zimbabweans who blindsided him, and pretty much chased him out of town. As it happens, in the last few weeks, there has been a swirling of rumours that the current Zimbabwean dictator, Emmerson Mnangagwa will fly into the UK for the Climate Change Conference.
First of all, it has to be said that it’s a bit puzzling for the UN to invite a dysfunctional government that can’t even fix pot holes on a conference about climate change. Nonetheless, if he comes here then ED should expert to face strong protests where ever he goes while he is here. This protests will perhaps even more determined protests than the reception given to SB Moyo when he came over because we are talking about the number 1 cause of all of Zimbabwe’s problems.
SB Moyo aides trying to disperse diasporans protesting against the late Foreign Affairs minister
A significant number of Zimbabweans in the UK will put the dates on their calendar and will travel to London or Scotland to give the tin-pot dictator a piece of their mind. Every single moment that he spends in the UK he will be met with protests. We don’t Iike him, and we want him gone, and we will be telling him that in person.
Just to remind those who tend to forget why we want ED and Zanu gone. This man made himself president using the military in 2017. He sent soldiers to kill protesters who were contesting the rigged election. He then sent soldiers to kill people in the high density suburbs and has since banned demonstrations, essentially criminalising anyone who questions his authority. We want him gone!!! #Zanupfmustgo
ANALYSIS | “If we thought it’s not possible for a person to sacrifice his wife for powers so their church grows, that’s what Chiwenga did. If he wants to deny that, I’ll download everything that’s happened in his face,” Talent Chiwenga’s mother in law alleged as the accused defended self saying,” God will vindicate me.”
The damning allegations were made over 7 months ago and have seen the preacher respond saying God will vindicate him, and then threatening her to retract the statement failure which he will institute legal action within 4 weeks. What happened after the mother in law defied the threats and continued boldly speaking?
When ‘Apostle’ Talent Chiwenga was challenged concerning alleged adultery by his own mother in law, he unleashed lawyers using fake threats after his late wife’s mother, and a ZimEye columnist, Howard Nyoni, the legal summons which are below…
the papers served against Talent Chiwenga’s mother in lawThe last page of the legal threat to Talent Chiwenga’s mother in law.
as also revealed by Howard Nyoni, shortly before CHIWENGA deployed a British ‘Law firm’, through summons which claimed Nyoni is a former church adherent who is now disgruntled. (Nyoni is a veteran analyst who for years has participated in successful prosecution of church sex predators in UK and Zimbabwe),
Talent Chiwenga also began claiming Howard Nyoni is a disgruntled former member of his cult, JRM- Jesus Revelation Ministries, when such a thing has never happened. Nyoni was a panelist in a news discussion with Chiwenga in Nov 2017, during the times Talent Chiwenga was seeking publicity through the news network.

Part of the legal threats against Mr. Howard Nyoni
One of the young girls Talent Chiwenga raped is his own wife’s younger sister, Tariro Mafuka (+27 62 583 1***, we release the number as there is a criminal investigation for murder), he later secretly married more than 3 years before the accident that killed his wife, Rejoice. He would after that date, secretly drive her back to Zimbabwe from South Africa where she has been since the secret marriage, years before.
Sought for a comment over the last 3 years, Talent Chiwenga has declined responding only to resort to video streams on his church portal where he has constantly avoided the issue of his sex attacks against women and his overspeeding in Masvingo road which killed his wife, Rejoice.
In his first accident, in which he has accused Emmerson Mnangagwa, he was rescued by a top notorious ZANU PF he calls a good Samaritan, Mr Seviyas Piki, and in the 2nd one, he was rescued by an unnamed driver in a white vehicle that quickly whisked him away from the accident scene.
ACCIDENT IN NORTON: Source alleges Talent Chiwenga was taken away by a white car from the scene within 10 minutes from the accident, and left everyone else at the scene. Contacted for a comment, Chiwenga's PA Pastor Baloyi confessed ignorance. He told ZimEye,"I am not aware…" pic.twitter.com/RYXukBt0co
The below is a full compilation of Talent Chiwenga’s own words between June and November 2019 speaking on LIVE camera giving details on his allegations.
In his own video, recorded inside hospital less than a day after the accident, the preacher loudly says that he was speeding (in a 60km speed limit zone) at 120 kmeters per hour and he even wanted to accelerate beyond 120km for no other reason other than to rush to Harare and purchase a new fan belt for his car. No one was chasing after him. He then collided with an oncoming haulage truck and three people died as a result of the collision (accident video below).
Speaking during a church service, Talent Chiwenga said, ” I had a friend in Eugene Kanyuchi. I am sure many of you you know him. He served me in the work of Christ in the protocol department. And I had Mai Vhurumuko, and I think you all know her, you all knew her. VIDEO ( The story continues below)…
VIDEO LOADING BELOW…
“I faced death with those 2 people for as long as they were in the ministry. A week before we drove to South Africa I sat down with both of them and I said to them- you are following me everywhere I am going, I am in danger because in those three weeks before the accident we had a lot of incidents where death threats continued to come.
“I am sure you still remember at First Street when there was a message that came: run away they are going to come to kill you. And I said I am not going to run. Because I cannot run away from death death is something that nobody can run away from. So I sat with her husband and Mai Vhurumuku, and Baba Vhurumuku is not here, he works outside the country, and I told them there is death that is imminent; we knew about it it, we wrote a letter to president Emmerson Mnangagwa.
“And I told them that I was going to deliver that letter. The two of them, they volunteered to go with me, and I said if I don’t come back what happens to you?
“They said we will then not come back all of us. Vari vaviri, Baba Kanyuchi naMai Vhurumuku, ndaiti ndakavaudza kuti Vhangeri iyi ine vavengi vakawanda, ichasvika panguva yekuti tichafanirwa kuifira, vaiti, ” we are ready to die for the gospel.”
“Hapana anga aine rwendo rwekuenda kuSouth Africa pahu two hwavo. They volunteered to go with me. Three times in South Africa Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I saw a vision somebody was pointing a gun at me and I was being shot. And I was dying in that vision and then I was seeing myself dying when I was standing on the other side, and I told Baba Kanyuchi, I told Mai Chiwenga, this is what is going to happen, I am not comfortable something is about to happen. And they said let the will of the lord prevail.
“Our greatest challenge is when that time comes in our lives are we going to be holding our faith like they did? That is why we cannot count their departure, as a loss, it is not them that lost, it is us who lost. We lost an opportunity to go in good time, murikundinzwa here vadikani? Takashaiwa mukana wekuenda, zvichakanaka. So I just want to remind you that the people that do not believe do not understand their level, their carnal level, their corruptible level, their crooked level, we know what you are aiming for, we know the Lord, we know the Lord is coming. We know we shall be vindicated. We know we shall be justified. We know the gospel is going to go on. We know nobody is going to stop the gospel. We know nothing is going to stop the gospel.
“Not even the murderers, not even the politicians. Not even the CIO, not even the army, they will not stop this gospel. They can kill me today but they can’t kill the gospel.
“Tell your neighbour: they can kill me today but they can’t kill the gospel. The gospel cannot be killed because not even a bullet can reach close to the gospel. It is spiritual it is not physical.
“The AK47 kana CZ Pistol, inogona kuuraya nyama, asi mweya haigone kuuraya. So we just want to observe a moment of silence, but I want us us to first of all read this whole passage, in Phillipians chapter 1, let me read it up to verse 30. And then we observed a moment of silence to remind ourselves that there is a burden that lies squarely on our shoulders, to uphold the faith and to the very end, like our comrades did. They are our comrades, they are our heroes. They are heroes of faith, they stood firm for the gospel, and we have got to do the same. If we walk away from the faith, we are disappointing them. Hallelujah, Jesus is counting on us to stand firm unto the very end. For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
What happened after the mother in law defied the threats and continued boldly speaking? Nothing happened to her, and the legal papers were never actioned.
By A Correspondent- A drug dealer has fainted after being handed a 12-year jail term for smuggling cocaine worth $7 million into Zimbabwe.
Sheila Khumalo, a South African aged 50, will serve an effective ten years in prison after Chief Magistrate Munamato Mutevedzi suspended two years on condition of good behaviour.
She fainted in court when the magistrate handed down her sentence.
Khumalo, was arrested in May this year at the Robert Mugabe International Airport trying to smuggle 60 sachets of the contraband.
It is said Khumalo had swallowed the sachets and it was reported at that time that Khumalo excreted 58 sachets of the drug while in police custody.
The court heard that on May 9, information was received to the effect that Sheila Khumalo was coming to Zimbabwe from Brazil with cocaine aboard an Ethiopian airways flight and was expected to arrive at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe international airport.
Acting on the information, on May 10, a team of detectives from CID drugs and narcotics Harare, operatives from the Central Intelligence Organisation and personnel from the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority manned the arrival section at the airport and intercepted Khumalo. A search was conducted on Khumalo’s luggage and on her person, leading to the recovery of 53 small white sachets with whitish powder stashed in a pair of black socks and also in her undergarments.
The seized cocaine has an approximate mass of 975 grams with a total value of ZWL$7 800 000.
During her appearance in court, it is reported that Khumalo said that the drugs she was found in possession of were for her own use and she was in transit to her home in South Africa.
Khumalo denied ever dealing in drugs and told the court that she never met or interacted with anyone in Zimbabwe other than the arresting details, denied having connections in Zimbabwe and that there is no third party or second person that she got into contact with in Zimbabwe.
Khumalo said she never sold any drugs here in Zimbabwe as she is not in the business of selling and buying drugs, denied importing drugs into Zimbabwe as an import is only complete upon reaching the port of destination.
Khumalo is allegedly linked to a serious drug syndicate and most of the syndicate members are still at large and yet to be accounted for.
She becomes the fourth foreigner to be arrested for the same crime in a space of about one month. In April, this year a 22-year-old man from Brazil was arrested while attempting to smuggle into the country 4,30 kilogrammes of cocaine with a street value of ZWL$32 million dollars.

She does her own shopping, carries her own shopping bags, pays for her purchases, and if she receives a parking ticket, she pays out of her own pocket.
A journalist recently asked her, “Do you remember I took a photo of you in this same dress ten years ago?
She told him: “My mission is to serve my fellow Germans, not to be a model.”
Merkel was elected Chancellor of Germany in 2005. She served as Leader of the Opposition from 2002 to 2005 and as Leader of the Christian Democratic Union from 2000 to 2018.

VILLAGERS in Uzumba, Mashonaland East province, are up in arms against a Chinese company, Heijin Mining, whose black granite mining claim covers the entire village.
This was revealed in a letter addressed to Mashonaland East provincial mining commissioner dated September 3, in which Lovemore Kaseke, through the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) is demanding copies of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) certificate and the miner’s prospecting licence.
The letter was copied to the Environmental Management Agency (EMA).
“Our clients are residents of Kaseke village in Uzumba together with his clan, the Kaseke clan. Our client advises that Heijin Mining Company purports to be a holder of mining blocks in Kaseke village and officials from the said mining company and from the ministry have proceeded to peg the whole of our client’s village without consulting our clients,” the letter read.

By A Correspondent- Norton MP Temba Mliswa has described as pathetic the recent judgement by a Chinhoyi court instructing the exhumation of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe for reburial at the national srine, the Heroes Acre.
Mliswa appealed to the Zimbabwean government and the courts to respect the wishes of the Mugabe family and let the former Zimbabwean leader rest in peace adding that such pathetic judgements engineered by people such as Ziyambi Ziyambi, projected the country in bad light.
He said:
“The Chinhoyi court ruling for the exhumation of former President Mugabe is a very pathetic judgement that is engineered by people such as Ziyambi, courting favour with ED. When people are in positions of power without merit they are always seeking to patronise the leader.
That is the idea behind the exhumation debacle. However, the family made its decision and that should be respected. The current actions paint our country in a bad light, more so the President’s name is also dragged into it even if he is not. Let Mugabe rest in peace. Zvakwana.”

Police in Mashonaland Central have stepped up their game in eradicating the sale of illicit liquor known as “Soldier Whisky” that comes in small sachets that resemble packaging for freezits.
Judith Gora (31), who was selling the illicit liquor at Dave bottle store in Madziwa, has since been arrested.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo said on September 8, police officers were deployed to look out for shebeen and beer outlets selling illicit beer.
“One of the officers in civilian clothes posed as a potential patron and approached Gora who was selling the illicit beer at wholesale price,” he said.
“The police officer bought the liquor, went outside and alerted his colleagues.”
Gora was arrested for contravening section 3 (1) of the Harmful Liquids Act and nine packets containing 42 sachets of the liquor were recovered.
Asst Insp Dhliwayo thanked members of the public for providing the police with information on shebeens.
“We are appealing for more information so that we can totally eradicate the illicit liquor menace,” he said. Herald
Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has mocked the Zanu PF regime over attempts to exhume the late former President Robert Mugabe’s remains for reburial at the National Heroes Acre.
Hon Biti has pointed out that the desperate “occultists” want to use Mugabe’s remains to perform rituals they believe will strengthen their grip on power.
“The occultists are desperate for Robert Mugabe s body.
In this day and age they still live by rituals & sorcery .
It’s bad enough being a corrupt extractive incompetent clueless cruel genocidalist but this desperate level of dark arts tips the scale. What a rotton moribund lot,” argued Hon Biti.
Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has since denied involvement in the supposed exhumation process.
“Govt has noted the outcome of a court process in Chinhoyi in the matter between the Mugabe siblings v Tynos Manongove. As neither Government nor HE @edmnangagwa was involved in the said matter, we will await further details on the judgement before making any further comment.”
Music is an essential channel of communication as it allows people to share emotions, intentions, and meanings (Hargreaves, MacDonald and Miell, 2005). It can produce deep and profound emotions within the people, and can also be used to generate infinitely understated variations of expressiveness by composers. Music plays a role in bringing people together for a shared experience where they become part of something that is bigger than them (Ruud, 1997, in Baker, 2015).
However, when compared with language, music is imprecise, ambiguous, with the audience unable to be confident of correctly interpreting the intended meaning or message (Cross, 2005). Therefore, music has an advantage over language because when performed in or to groups, each individual can interpret its significance individually without risking the collective group’s experience. This is probably true when one engages Dembo music. Leonard Dembo of the Barura Express developed from being an amateur song writer (whose music aesthetically pleased self in the days of hits such as Matsotsi) to a professional musician where his music was now aesthetically pleasing millions of his audience by the time of his untimely death on 9 April 1996. He was now sharing his self with others.
One can never confidently say what exactly Dembo meant with each one of his songs. Tendai Dembo, Leonard’s son, actually cautioned me and said “Dr Gumbo, padzimbo dzaMudhara umwe neumwe anodzinzwisisa zvakasiyana. Zvakafanana neshoko remubhaibhiri, rinogamuchirwa zvakasiyana siyana zvichienda nemunhu, nzvimbo yaari uye zvakamukomberedza panguva iyoyo”. Tendai went on to share his understanding of the meaning of his father’s songs. I was personally impressed by Tendai’s intellectual and theological capacity. His interpretation of the message in Wakandigona was particularly out of this world. What a deep and emotional interpretation from Tendai!
Thus, in this brief, I attempt at interpreting Dembo’s message in the album, Shiri Yakangwara from my purely subjective perspective. This is my humble contribution to the Dembo philosophy as the man deeply influenced my life socially, economically and politically.
MyUnparalleledLoveforDemboMusic
I remain attached to Dembo music and indeed, I have continued to dig deeper into his life, work and thinking. In a separate project, I continue to document the life of this great musician of our time. My good Lord, through one of Dembo’s nieces, Eleanor (nee Gwaringa) Maeresera, connected me to Tendai (a good, intelligent and so accommodative and tolerant man indeed). When I first met Tendai, I was immediately motivated to do more to share my understanding of Dembo’s philosophy with the whole world.
I have also managed to talk to the living Barura Express legend, Innocent Mujintu (though I am yet to meet him physically for more formal processes). Innocent, surviving member of the Barura Express of the 1990s, remains a key member of the Dembo music fan club.
On Independence Day, this year (2021), I met two of Leonard’s nieces, Eleanor and Juliana (nee Gwaringa) Manika. The meeting was held Maeresera Homestead in Harare. On my way to that meeting, I was playing “Kana ndorangariraa magamba eZimbabwee paChinhoyii akafa achitamburaa aya…misodzi inobudaa kana ndorangariraa…” This was a perfect song from Dembo, suitable for the day. For me, this was a special meeting, for I managed to account for Dembo’s life history between 1975 and 1979 where Gokwe comes into the picture. I even drove to Kadoma to try and meet, Gladys (nee Gwaringa) Muzhuzha (Eleanor and Juliana’s sister whom Dembo sang in “Gire”). The song Gire needs no introduction to the Dembo music lovers-yet its origin has not been known by the public- I now have this song’s history.
I learnt that Dembo was so close to Gire (Gladys), Erina (Eleanor) and Jurie (Juliana) as he called them. The three sisters are daughters to Cathrine (nee Zvarevashe) Gwaringa. Cathrine’s mother, Lucia(nee Musorowenyoka) was Leonard’s aunt together with Fenny (nee Musorowenyoka) Mutena. Let me leave the history part here for now and refocus my piece on Dembo’s messaging. A special and official project will cover this history (1975-1979) of the man who emerged as the Greatest Musician in the land. The Dembo family will continue to lead us on this process.
I have also finally met Nicholas Mugauri(Monya) and Rambisai (two of the greatest Dembo fans)-great fans indeed. This team is already doing a wonderful job to keep the Dembo brand alive.
Through my interaction with thousands of Dembo fans on “Dembo the Legend” platform, I got to further appreciate the support that this man still commands in the music industry, twenty five years after his death. Dembo’s daughter, Fenny has kept the platform alive with her innovative ways of entertaining the group members.
However, I am still to meet the Queen herself, Mrs Eunice Dembo (my condolences to her for losing her mother recently) and Nevanji (Morgan Dembo).
As a professional colleague of mine, Eleanor has worked so hard to ensure that everything becomes formal, legitimate and systematic so that her late uncle’s brand is protected. Her efforts will bear fruitful for her uncle’s family.
OfShiriYakangwaratheAlbum
The album was released in 1995 and has remained a popular album in and outside Zimbabwe. It carries five excellent songs, Yave; Wakandigona; Shiri Yakangwara (title track); Dzinde Rerudo and Kangamwiro. Personally, I got in love with all the tracks with Wakandigona emerging as my number one from this project.
In 1995, I was in form four at Guruva Secondary School in Mberengwa West and when the album was released, we were already under pressure, preparing for our final Ordinary Level examinations. The song, Shiri Yakangwara became common as we jocked with each other, that “Shiri Yakangwara, inogadzirira examination nguva iripo kwete kukodzera mombe pashowa…”. One of my classmates, Runesu Mugoberi (currently based in Kariba) was the main culprit. He was an excellent mathematician(but he struggled with other specific subjects) and challenged us to be prepared as advised by Dembo. He argued that “solving mathematical problems requires wise birds”.
Below I attempt to review each one of the songs on the album and certainly, this is not an easy task, because Dembo’s message was not as obvious as one would think. For this exercise, I received valuable feedback from Tendai Dembo, who added some flavour particularly on the review of Wakandigona. Tendai generally concurred with me that the album Shiri Yakangwara is a prayer by someone who knew that he no longer had much time to fulfil his aspirations on earth.
One can further argue that Dembo was now in a hurry hence he even released two excellent projects (Paw Paw and Nzungu Ndamenya) in a single year (1994). He now had little time left for him! Thus, in Shiri Yakangwara, he confirms that he was left “with a single year” to serve his Lord and Ancestors. Indeed, it was only a year as he breathed his last in 1996.
The instruments and voices in the album, Shiri Yakangwara, were excellently arranged. However, my focus for this piece is on messaging more than on instrumentation.
DzindeRerudo
In Dzinde Rerudo, Dembo presents a person who is giving a strong advice to his or her lover regarding love and marriage matters. However, Dembo does not openly disclose as to whether this is a boy or lady who is offering this advice. I hold that it is a boy communicating to a lady (my thinking). The key message though is that in marriage, communication (mutual understanding) is key between lovers if the couple is to sustain its love. While I have regarded this marriage literally, it can also mean “spiritual” marriage between Dembo and his Ancestors and Lord. This special marriage, required him to have strong relationship with his Creator. The Devil and other deities were likely to continue luring Dembo, but, he surely needed to remain rooted in the only true deity, God (Yahweh). Let me leave it at literal meaning so that I will not add any more confusion here by pursuing this spiritual marriage theory. The song ran like:
The lover is advised to ignore rumours as they have the potential to destroy their love. The singer pleads with his lover to value love as it has come as a result of sacrifice. Once one’s heart has been attracted to the other, one should allow the love to sink deep in his or her body. Strong love can resist any form of temptations hence lovers should develop such kind of love.
Kangamwiro
Generally, in Kangamwiro, Dembo reiterates the message he had pushed out in Mutadzi Ngaaregererwe, off the Tinokumbira Kurarama album. He is now seeking life after death. His earthly life is almost over hence he needs to prepare for that other life as promised in our holy Scriptures. However, for Dembo, he also requires the services of his Ancestors to reach to our Lord.
Dembo is praying to God and to his Ancestors for forgiveness. He starts by showing that there are a lot of challenges he is facing at the time but he quickly links them to his “sinfulness” (he later talks of “huipi hwangu” which resonates well with the concept of sinfulness) hence the need for forgiveness from the Lord and subsequently the Ancestors. While Dembo later mentions poverty by name, he still does not give details to the “many things that trouble him”. What is clear is that Dembo values the role of both God and the Ancestors in his life. He offloads all his sins, challenges and poverty onto God and the Ancestors. However, my final analysis shows that, between God and the Ancestors, the former is the one that wields the power to forgive, according to Dembo.
In later lines of Kangamwiro, Dembo highlights the existence of many enemies in his life. However, he quickly prays for them to be forgiven by God and the Ancestors. He even requests for God and the Ancestors to put him on the same side with his enemies when he finally faces his judgement. Thus, Kangamwiro pushes the message of confession and forgiveness on the part of Dembo himself but also of his enemies.
ShiriYakangwara
This is the title track of the album. The main message is on being prepared in life and the need to be wise in order to deal with all potential challenges. We are challenged to be wise and to be well prepared in life. The issue of strategizing, timing and location of what we do is central in Shiri Yakangwara. It looks like Dembo had wished to live longer but circumstances did not allow him.
The audience is encouraged or advised to learn from other God’s creatures for wisdom, alertness and for being prepared in life. A wise bird builds its nest on time before she even starts to lay eggs. Dembo looks to the future generation. We need to build our nests for the safety of our children. Most probably, Dembo is advising that in life we need to ensure that we prepare life for our children well in advance such that if we die one day, they will be safe. At least Dembo did his best for his children while he was still physically strong. He built the nest (akavakira mhuri yake pokuisa musoro). Thus, we need to learn from the birds. Dembo challenges that “child” (mwana iwee) to learn from wise birds.
Dembo further challenges the same audience to learn from the ants (Mujuru). In this case, Dembo probably becomes theological in his messaging. He obviously expects his audience to learn from the ants as advised in Proverbs 6:6 where it is said “Go to the ant, you Sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise”. According to Dembo, the ant builds its house well before the rain season, when it will still have the opportunity to perfect it without disturbances from the rains. Yet, if it were to wait until rain season, it would not withstand the pressures associated with construction in the context of wet conditions. We certainly do not need to wait until we are spiritually, physically and morally weak, as there will be no notice as to when we will die. We need to do our best while we still have time.
The Musician then admires the hammerkop (Kondo) which is a fantastic nest builder according to a Zimbabwean academic, Alex Magaisa. The hammerkop builds its nest with anything she can find such that “kana tsono unoiwana” (you will find even a needle on the nest). Dembo indicates that the hammerkop builds its nest high up in the tree “to protect its young ones” thus, one should learn from such innovations and strategies by the hammerkop.
Dembo further challenges his audience to be like a plover (Hurekure) which lays eggs that physically look like the soil of the area as a way of protecting them from the enemy. Humanity will not be able to observe that there are eggs.
Yave
In Yave, Dembo presents life as phenomenon whose control is beyond the ability of humanity. Human beings cannot determine when they will leave the earth. They can plan a lot of things but fulfilment of such will depend on the Creator Himself. While Dembo uses Yave with a “v”, surely he is referring to Yahweh (God). He appears to have become religious in his last days on earth. His respect of God is visible in the whole album. Yet life ends without notice!
Humanity can make plans but in most cases, we do not see our plans through as we would have died. Some of our plans are left unfulfilled, maybe to be attended to by the surviving family members or the community at large. At first, Dembo uses “ndinongosiya zvakadaro” (implying himself). However, along the way, he uses “you; us; them; he/her” meaning that his message goes to different audiences. Indeed, this also shows that the situation he is singing about applies to him as the singer and others too. Of course, at first, I had personally interpreted the song to refer to Dembo’s situation (ill health at that moment) hence he seems to be giving in to it. I assumed that he had a lot of plans for his fans, his family, his Chirumanzu community and the entire nation, yet, his failing health surely meant that he would not manage to fulfill all the plans. I normally cry each time I play Yave-I put myself in the shoes of Dembo at that moment.
In Shiri Yakangwara, the theme of planning on time is visible while in Yave, the concepts of planning and preparations are coming in different direction. In the former, Dembo shows that planning is key, in the later, planning and preparations are presented as futile exercises at times since they depend on God himself. While we plan, God will not hint (nyeuriro) when we will pass on. If God would hint on death, then our mothers; fathers; grandfathers; grandmothers; sisters; brothers; friends; lovers; myself and ourselves would have prepared on time. Unfortunately, God does not give any warning (hint) as to when one will die.
Wakandigona
This is my favourite of all the songs on the album. Tendai Dembo likes this one too on top of Dzinde Rerudo. Literally, the main message is an advice to a boy who lost a would be wife to other men. The boy is reminded that he had not been wise enough to win the lady. However, Tendai Dembo argues that “nguva ndiyo yakagona Mudhara wangu apa. My father had been thinking that he still had time to fulfill his plans on earth, only to realise that life belongs to God Himself…”
The literal meaning (not withstanding the deep Tendai interpretation) of the song shows that a boy had been waiting for a lady whom he expected to marry. Coming from the same neighbourhood, the boy was convinced that he was indeed going to marry the lady. He wanted to marry someone whose culture he knew (Kuroora wematongo). The singer mocks the boy that he had unnecessarily taken time to officially marry the lady hence he went on to lose her. Dembo brings back the issue of wisdom he had touched in the other songs. He actually argues that it was because of the foolishness and unpreparedness of the boy that he lost the girl. Dembo describes the girl as a flower that had grown in the eyes of the boy. However, along the way, Dembo says “ruva ratakakura naro isu” as if the victims were more than one. At some point, Dembo seems to be addressing the girl herself direct but goes on to direct his message to the person who robbed him of the lady. Dembo dribbled his audience here! That is Dembo for you!
TheCallforDemboDayMovementcontinues
As one of Dembo’s strong fans and students, I still recommend for the official establishment of the DemboDayMovement as a way of protecting the musician’s legacy. I have observed that our numbers as Dembo fans are huge enough to keep the Dembo brand alive through his family. I was pleased to note that even Fenny has joined her brothers in promoting her father’s music. Dembo’s three children have already proved beyond doubt that, with support they can revive their father’s music. Remember reader, that, when Dembo died, his children were very young indeed, hence, they could not automatically keep the pace of their father. Thus, we should not put them under pressure to fully represent their father-they can only do their best and their father’s shoes are too big to fill. The establishment of the Dembo Day Movement should be our direct support to this great family. This is my dream! Morgan, Tendai and Fenny can do it with our support!

Prostate Cancer The prostate gland is an organ found only in males positioned just below the bladder and surrounds the top portion of the tube that drains urine from the bladder. The major function of the prostate is to produce fluids that nourishes and transports sperms.
This organ called the prostate gland is more likely to develop cancer. Cancer occurs when cells in the body start to grow without control.
Cells in nearly any part of the body can become cancer cells, and can then spread to other parts of the body.
Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that affects the prostate gland. It is one of the most common types of cancer in males. Many prostate cancers grow slowly and are confined to the prostate gland. However, while some types of prostate cancer grow slowly and may require minimal or even no treatment, other types are aggressive and can vastly spread to other parts of the body.
Some of the signs of prostate cancer include.
• Frequent urination.
• Weak or interrupted urine flow or the need to strain to empty the bladder.
• Frequent urge to urinate at night.
• Blood in the urine.
• New onset of erectile dysfunction.
• Pain or burning during urination, which is much less common.
• Discomfort or pain when sitting, caused by an enlarged prostate.
• Back pain and bone pain if cancer have spread.
Risk factors for prostate cancer include:
Age- common in the elderly usually above 50years
Race- blacks have a high risk of having aggressive and advanced prostate cancer
Family history- previous history of prostate cancer or breast cancer has shown an increased risk of having prostate cancer.
How to know you have prostate cancer?
Prostate cancer sometimes in its early stages one is asymptomatic and difficult to tell if they have prostate cancer.
Even with symptoms above one cannot tell alone with that as other prostate diseases might have similar symptoms.
If one suspects or have symptoms above should consult a doctor to have a physical examination and investigations done to assess if they have prostate cancer.
Treatment can be started early and the type of treatment to be administered one will discuss with their doctor.

The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has announced the commencement of 12-hour load-shedding in Zimbabwe.
In a statement, ZETDC said the new extreme load shedding is due to drastically reduced output at Hwange and Kariba power stations.
Reads the statement: The ZETDC (Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company) is experiencing a power shortfall due to generation constraints at Hwange Power Station, limited imports and a programme of dam wall rehabilitation at Kariba, which requires that two generators be taken out for 12 hours. The planned outrage of the two units then restricts Kariba Power Station output during these hours. The power shortfall is being managed through load shedding in order to balance the power supply available and the connected load.

Angela Merkel spotted buying groceries without any aide
Merkel, a physics and chemistry scientist turned politician, leaves office this October.
She is credited for leading the most robust economy in the EU and one of the most important in the world.
Throughout year tenure of offices, she received no free state service, no housing, no electricity, no gas, no entertainment expenses, no personal chef, no water, no free phone from the Federal Republic of Germany budget, and lived her life humbly like any other German citizen.

By A Correspondent- MDC-T has announced that it will offload members of parliament and councillors who are pro-Nelson Chamisa’s MDC-Alliance next month.
According to the party’s national chairman Morgen Komichi, MDC-T has established a task force that would recommend the recalling from both parliament and local councils for any office bearer who continues to support Chamisa.
Komichi announced this development at the weekend at Harvest house at the anniversary celebrations of the MDC founding.
Said Komichi: Don’t take advantage of our goodness. Don’t take advantage of our good-heartedness. Come October, Honorable President, and the leadership. I’d like to see people being chased away from parliament; chased away from local government; chased away from local council; chased away in everywhere. Whoever is benefiting from this platform and these platforms to sponsor Chamisa’s party, must pack his bags and go home. Way forward, we have actually deliberately put up a committee headed by our secretary of local government.
This woman is not going to recommend the expulsion of anyone just from her head. She’s traveling the whole country meeting with councilors and MPs. Those that do not take heed, will leave us in October. She’s going to be operational for one month, which is September alone. When 31st September has arrived, she will stay here and the axe will go out. Honourable President I don’t want to see a member of parliament who supports Chamisa, a provincial council who supports Chamisa, local government council who supports Chamisa, and no mayor, no mayor in this country who shall belong to Chamisa. Norman Mapeza finds himself in a dilemma to either choose to become Warriors coach or stay in his current role at the helm of FC Platinum.
The former national team captain is the Felton Kamambo-led ZIFA’s preferred choice to become interim Warriors coach after the post was left vacant following the dismissal of Zdravko Logarusic.
ZIFA have already approached Mapeza, who in response, referred them to his employers FC Platinum for negotiations.
The Platinum miners are, according to sources, not willing to let Mapeza become Warriors coach and being their coach at the same time, meaning they do not want a sharing arrangement for the former Chippa United coach.
Platinum also do not want to stand in the way of Mapeza becoming national team coach, but he has to choose one role and not have both.
The defending Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions feel that Mapeza being their coach and at the helm of the Warriors at the same time, will affect their schedule in the CAF Champions League as well as the returning league season.
Should Platinum progress to the next stage of Africa’s premier club competition, they might have some games around the time Zimbabwe play Ghana in World Cup qualifiers while the league, should it return, will be played during the time the Warriors will be at AFCON in January.
Mapeza has six months left on his FC Platinum contract, meaning he is contactable by anyone who so wishes to have him.
Should Mapeza opt to take the national team job, chances are that he might take with him, his trusted lieutenant Daniel Vheremu, meaning Platinum will be left without a coach, further complicating issues.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe
Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has mocked the Zanu PF regime over attempts to exhume the late former President Robert Mugabe’s remains for reburial at the National Heroes Acre.

Own Correspondent People around the country are accusing Christine Mupini of using love juju on the late Tafadzwa Chifamba who took his own life after he discovered that Christine was married to someone.
In his letter Tafadzwa said he didn’t see the reason to live, as his world was around Christine.
One lady who claimed to be an ex-friend of Christine said her friend collected love charms from Masvingo preacher Isaac Makomichi early last year, to make sure that Tafadzwa would love her forever.
“Last year in February she told me about her journey to Masvingo, to collect love charms from Makomichi. Then this year I was suprised when she told me that she wanted to get married to another man. What she did is evil, it’s also high time to ban those magicians who calls themselves prophets !” said a lady who claimed to be Christine’s ex-friend .
Although Christine was not immediately available for a comment, a lady believed to be her relative said:” There is nothing like that, end of the story. I am not willing to be used to popularize your false theories. This is a sensitive matter… “
Now that Tafadzwa is dead because of this charm, I don’t judge this man of God but I believe Makomichi must not give his charms to single ladies,” said one pastor.

By A Correspondent- Norton Independent Member of Parliament, Temba Mliswa came under fire after he publicly lambasted Jah Prayzah for sleeping around with married women.
In a threaded tweet, motormouth Mliswa called out the Mudhara Achauya singer on twitter and cautioned him to stop sleeping around with married women and ladies who are already engaged.

By Wilbert Mukori- Zimbabwe’s worsening economic situation is whetting the nation’s political appetite. The next elections are just under two years away, in July 2023, but already the stalls are out and the electioneering is going through its gears.
“A generational consensus under MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa’s able leadership will take the nation to a higher level of political consciousness. It must culminate in a huge and crushing victory over Zanu-PF as people claim their liberty,” boldly proclaimed Tofara Shandu
“We must not allow Zanu-PF to own our independence.”
This is all wishful thinking, assuming Shandu is one of the many Zimbabweans who are angry and desperate for change.
“Zviroto, zviroto!” (Day dreams are just that day dreams!) the late Robert Mugabe would have dismissed Shandu.
Of course, there are hundreds of thousands of Zanu PF operatives masquerading as political analysts par excellence all telling Chamisa and his MDC A friends, they have Mnangagwa and Zanu PF on the ropes; “Come 2023, Zimbabweans shall claim liberty!” When the reality on the ground tells a totally different story; it is Chamisa and company who cough blood!
The 2008 Zimbabwe elections were a watershed because that year Zanu PF showed the world the full repertoire of its vote rigging ability. The party ordered ZEC to stop the counting of the March 2008 vote after six weeks of cooking up the figures, Morgan Tsvangirai’s 73%, by Mugabe’s own Freudian slip, was whittled down to 47%. Enough to stop Tsvangirai winning out right and force a run-off.
During the run-off Mugabe’s primary purpose was to punish the people of Zimbabwe for having rejected him in the earlier vote. The nation was subjected to some of some of the most heinous politically motivated violence the country had ever seen; second only to the violence of the Gukurahundi massacre in 1983 to 1987.
“What was accomplished by the bullet cannot be undone by the ballot!” boasted Mugabe as he barked his orders to destroy property, harass, beat, rape and kill. Over 500 innocent opposition supporters and ordinary people were murdered in the three months of the run-off.
Mugabe garnered 84% of the vote in the run-off, up from 21% or so in the March vote. The run-off result was never in any doubt, the nation was chastised and cowed into submission.
SADC leaders refused to endorse Mugabe’s electoral victory and would not recognised him and his Zanu PF regime as the legitimate government given the blatant cheating and wanton violence. SADC leaders managed to get Mugabe to agree to the implementation of a raft of democratic reforms with the express purpose of restoring the people’s basic freedoms and rights including the right to free and fair elections and the right to life.
A Government of National Unity (GNU) was appointed comprising of Zanu PF leaders and leaders from the two MDC factions headed by Morgan Tsvangirai. Tsvangirai and company were expected to implement the reforms. Robert Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings go high offices and forgot about implementing the reforms. Not even one token reform was implemented in the five years of the 2008 to 2013 GNU.
MDC leaders have participated in flawed and illegal elections knowing fully well that with no reforms to end Zanu PF’s carte blanche powers to rig elections; Zanu PF will rig the elections guaranteed. The MDC leaders have participated in the elections regardless out of greed – they knew Zanu PF would give away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposite and they found the bait irresistible.
The Zanu PF propagandists’ task was to convince the naive, gullible and increasingly desperate MDC supporters and public to participate in the flawed and illegal elections even with not even one reform implemented. By participating the people have given the process credibility and the resulting Zanu PF regime legitimacy.
It is insane to keep participating in flawed and illegal elections knowing doing so will give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. We know naive and desperate people do desperate things so desperate they are insane!
There is growing evidence that even the naive and desperate voters are beginning to see the sheer futility of participating in these flawed and illegal elections whose result is a predetermined landslide Zanu PF victory. The public response to Zanu PF and MDC and the rest in the opposition camp’s campaign asking their supporters to register to vote has had few takers.
ZEC launched its “massive vote registration exercise” last December. Why the country needs a massive voter registration exercise every five years is explain below. If July ZEC reported that less than 30 people had registered as voters in the whole of Masvingo Province in June 2021, an improvement on May when only 6 had registered. No doubt a few weeks before ZEC close the voter registration the number of registered voters will shoot up, especially in Zanu PF stronghold areas; it always does.
It is impossible to verify where the surge in registered voters came from because ZEC has never ever produced a verified voters’ roll. Never ever! Although producing a verified voters’ roll is a common sense and legal requirement. If you have a cooked up voters’ roll you cannot afforded to release it for verification. No wonder, ZEC needs a massive voter registration exercise every five years, it is just another cover up for failing to produce the last voters’ roll so people can verify their details.
There is no stopping the 2023 elections going ahead, both Zanu PF are as keen as mustard to participate, even though it is already clear Zanu PF will rig the elections. What people can do is make sure no one of any substance is left in any doubt the election process is not legal, free, fair and credible. Everyone must know that MDC A and the rest in the opposition camp know the elections would be rigged but participated regardless out of greed.
Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections must be condemned as a farce and declared null and void; just as happened in 2008 following the blatant cheating and wanton violence. The solution out of the political limbo of failing to produce a legitimate government in 2008 was the GNU, a similar arrangement would be required in 2023 only this time competent men and women must be appointed to implement the democratic reforms.
The root cause Zimbabwe finds itself in this man-man political and economic hell-on-earth is the failure to hold free, fair and credible elections. And to get out of the hell-hole, all we must do implement the democratic reforms and curse ourselves of the curse of rigged elections and bad governance.
“Come 2023, Nelson Chamisa’s able leadership will take the nation to a higher level of political consciousness!” Yeah right; by participating in flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy! Zviroto, zviroto!

EFF Zim has commended the Government’s sterling works as it continues to steer infrastructure development, particularly the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme I & 2.
We are aware that phase I of roads rehabilitation remains a success and recently, the Cabinet approved that the department of roads in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development takes over a number of roads from urban councils.
The approved list of specified roads includes 16 roads in Bulawayo Metropolitan, 32 totalling 250km in Harare Metropolitan, nine totalling 25km in Manicaland, eight roads of 12km in Mashonaland Central, 38 totalling 84km in Mashonaland East, 20 totalling 45km in Masvingo Province, three totalling 7km in Matabeleland North, 19 totalling 301un in Matabeleland South and 27 totalling 125km in Midlands.
“As a party we are backing the government’s efforts for a developed Zimbabwe. We have realised that the second Republic is more about action than talking and abusing of social media on falsehoods. We are certain the roads rehabilitation process is a starting point for development.
Without roads nothing can be done or achieved. We need proper roads for instance to transport goods we produce from farms, mines, firms etc So it is very strategic and commendable that the government has prioritised rehabilitation of roads. This is a very correct foundation for the country to achieve government’s Vision2030″.
“We are also challenging every Zimbabwean to back these efforts on rehabilitation of our roads. We have following of mostly young people who are utilising roads, so it is an advantage to us as EFF Zim whereby our supporters will be utilising and benefitting from these rehabilitated roads.”
Meanwhile, we as EFF Zim we are supporting and wishing well to President ED Mnangagwa for his impending visit to UK.
“We are certain that this trip is not a personal trip but in the interest of our people countrywide. We are backing the president in this trip and we want to urge him to show the reality to the world that our country is portrayed wrongly and suffering sanctions unnecessary. We want him to personal show the UK how Zimbabwe is willing to partner with UK in development and alliances.
The uncalled for and unnecessary hostilities must be pushed aside and focus on best interest for our people. We have been following a very correct as a country in the international community re-engagement process. So this trip is a very correct cornerstone for our country and people.
We also call upon all Zimbabweans with people at heart and country at heart to submit positive points to the president so that he engages UK from a people driven perspective and show them how the unnecessary sanctions are destroying lives and families at a grassroot level.”
We would like to also commend the government for pioneering an excellent could-19 vaccination drive.
“It is so pleasing that our government is leading in this vaccination drive by doing what has been commended by the WHO, AU, EU and SADC. We know our detractors and stooges & puppets of Americans, MDC Chamisa do not sleep when our government is progressing and doing well.
We saw him in Zambia dismissing our spot-on vaccination drive that was so embarrassing and childish of him. When the world is commending your country as a leader you should be happy, but instead as always he wants himself to have glory always. As EFF Zim we will want to warn Chamisa against such behaviour.
Next time we won’t take lightly such an attitude. He must consider applying for an American citizenship than demonising everything that our government does. He forgets that he must be in prison for stealing MDC Alliance funds after he portrayed himself as a leader of the party of Douglas Mwonzora. Rather than demonising our government he must take back that money to MDC Alliance that he stole meant for political parties funds.”
We are also impressed with the way the devolution of power concept is taking shape. We call upon all State/Provincial ministers to play their party and make sure that the government’s efforts are reached. Our people at grassroot levels are in need of this programme for them to realize better and improved livelihoods.
Lastly, we would like to urge teachers not to be used by some detractors.
“Teachers have been getting their monthly pays despite that schools were closed. The government committed itself and kept paying them despite that they were not working for a long time. We believe it is unfair to embark on the strike while we are just opening schools.
They should address their grievances properly than to be used by other politicians. They should put the future of pupils forward than everything. If government tolerated them and gave them pays all along, why should they be used?”
We are also supporting the government’s efforts on land reform programme and also quality free education.
“In 2019, the government stated that there will be free education. We want those responsible for free education to start implementing the programme without fail. We are backing the president’s calls and supporting his efforts.”

By A Correspondent- A truck driver was crushed to death by his broken down truck after going underneath to fix brake failure near Nyamhunga bus terminus in Kariba on Sunday.
The man had stopped the truck to fix its brakes, but while he was trying to do so, it ran over and killed him instantly.
Kariba police boss Chief Superintendent Abigail Sibanda yesterday confirmed the incident.
“I would like to confirm that an accident occurred in Nyamhunga on September 12, 2021 at around 1600hrs. Circumstances are that Danai Munyanyi, a male aged 34, was driving a truck and he pulled off the road to fix the brakes of the truck which were binding,” Sibanda said.
“He was then run over by this truck while he was underneath it and was ferried to Kariba District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body is at Kariba Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem and next of kin were advised,” she said.
Sibanda urged drivers to consider their safety first whenever they are on the road.
By A Correspondent- Independent Norton lawmaker, Temba Mliswa, has sensationally claimed that famous contemporary musician Jah Prayzah was bedding married women.
Mliswa, Tuesday morning, posted on Twitter claiming that he had evidence of the musician’s infidelity behaviour.

By A Correspondent- A collaborative probe by a British media house, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and the University of Bath, has exposed how the ruling Zanu-PF party received mouth-watering bribes from the British American Tobacco (BAT) most likely to fund its 2013 election campaign.
British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) investigation revealed that Zanu-PF received the bribes, ranging from US$300 000 to US$500 000 during the era of the late former President Robert Mugabe.
According to Zimbabwean laws, political parties are not permitted to receive funding from outside the country.
UK laws also forbid companies from paying bribes.
According to the report, a number of government officials were also bribed.
Observers said the money could have been used to finance the make-or-break 2013 elections that ended the coalition government between Zanu-PF and the two MDCs led by Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara.
But Zanu-PF yesterday rubbished the claims, with party information director Tafadzwa Mugwadi saying the BBC report was one of the many propaganda narratives propagated by foreign news agencies.
Party secretary for administration Obert Mpofu dismissed the report as laughable.
“That is not true and that is news to me. It is laughable actually. We have not received that money from the organisation you are talking about,” Mpofu said.
In a joint investigation with the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and the University of Bath, the man who was sent to negotiate the deal, but wished to remain anonymous, told Panorama that he bribed a number of government officials.
“I had to make it clear that they are going to expect a nice thick envelope of notes.”
It is alleged that the unnamed government official said the money would help the ruling party to effectively mount a strong campaign against Tsvangirai’s party after a close shave in the 2008 polls.
“With this donation, they could then go back to the President to try to get the problem sorted out,” a memo read in part. “The amount of the donation would have to be in the region of between US$300 000 to US$500 000 to Zanu-PF,” it said.
The documents do not show whether the bribe was in the end paid, but Panorama has spoken to three sources who have confirmed that BAT was aware of the terms of the deal on offer.
BAT refused to comment on the Zimbabwean matter, but “emphatically reject the mischaracterisation of our conduct”.
Analysts also said the latest findings confirmed long-held suspicion of corruption in the ruling party.
“We have said consistently that the institutionalised corruption by Zanu-PF elites is killing us. We expect swift action by authorities on this matter. We demand accountability,” MDC Alliance deputy spokesperson Clifford Hlatywayo said.
Analyst Rashweat Mukundu said anti-corruption hawks should take interest in the matter.
“There seem to be an unhealthy relationship between big business, be it from the West or East, that when dealing with Africa you have to corrupt the leaders and this to me is just, but a tip of the iceberg and not surprising,” he said.
“It’s a known fact that to do business without as many hassles, one has to bribe the political leadership and since the party that benefited from the corruption is still in power I guess it’s for them to explain themselves and the Zacc (Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission) to take an interest,” Mukundu added.
“The implications of this case are that the abuse, poverty and policy inconsistencies that we face as a society are actually sponsored by big business working in cahoots with politicians. We need to push for clean business and economic policies that are fair and predictable so that business does not have to bribe anyone. Another fundamental issue is that this corruption between business and politicians has actually worsened post Mugabe.”
As PTUZ, we made it categorically clear without any equivocation or ambiguity that 98% of schools were not ready for opening but Ministry Officials claimed they were ready. Just two weeks after opening covid 19 is spreading like wild fire in Schools in Zimbabwe.
Where is the propagandist Taungana Ndoro, where is Hon Cain Matema, where is Mrs Thabela. Lies have short legs.We challenge Cabinet Ministers to visit Nyamuka Primary (Manicaland), Kriste Mambo (Manicaland), Tongwe High ( Mat South), Neshangwe High (Mashonaland East), Masase High (Midlands), Chegato High (Midlands) and many other schools.
Schools are running short of testing kits and in some schools after only testing ‘A’ and ‘O’ level students, more that 75 have been confirmed positive at one school. Worse still not all ‘A’ and ‘O’ level students have been tested as schools ran out of testing kits. When we give professional advice, Ministry officials must listen rather than make decisions from the comfort of their offices.
It is prudent to prioritise the health and safety of teachers and pupils rather than throwing all cautions to the wind. There is virtually no covid abatement equipment in schools, let alone running water. The bloated classes and hostels are a cause for concern, yet medalist in verbal marathon lie through their teeth that schools are ready.
For the avoidance of doubt I am a product of Masase High School and Chegato High School, and feel directly affected when students’ health and safety there and in any other school are compromised. As PTUZ, we urge gvt to mellow down to a more constructive approach permeable to reason and facts rather than making decisions based on lies. Life is more important than lies.
Where did the $750 million and another $500 million go to, if students have no covid abatement equipment in schools? As PTUZ, we called for testing of 140 000 teachers, more than 5 million pupils, and ancillary staff before conglomeration in schools. But for some warped, vague and vacuous reasoning the Ministry officials fronted by their Goebbels, Taungana Ndoro, claimed otherwise.
If gvt cannot provide health and safety to teachers and pupils, let alone address the welfare of teachers, it would be prudent for teachers, parents and pupils to safeguard their lives by all means necessary. Henceforth we urge teachers to stop teaching in all schools where covid 19 cases have been confirmed until further notice. We also urge parents to stop sending their children to such schools until fumigation of the school and covid effects are arrested.
We also urge gvt to forthwith provide covid abatement equipment to all schools in Zimbabwe and stop their homelitic bellicose.Covid is real and our haphazardous meddling and muddling in opening schools is already producing disastrous results. When education officials pride in lies and peddle such to the president, such officials must be dismissed forthwith.
THIS IS IMPORTANT to know, upfront ahead of any election, because it is futile to run against a political party or candidate whose ways and means you don't know, more so where those ways and means are illegal and unconstitutional; yet they PREDETERMINE the outcome of an election!

President Cyril Ramaphosa said yesterday that South Africans may soon be required to produce proof of vaccination against Covid-19 to gain access to public spaces.
The requirement is generally referred to as a “Vaccine Passport” or “Vaccine Certificate” and has been considered by several countries globally as a way of persuading people to get vaccinated.
Said Ramaphosa in a televised address where some COVID-19 restrictions were eased:
We will also be providing further information on an approach for vaccine passports, which can be used as evidence of vaccination for various purposes and events, so that people are able to demonstrate that they’ve been vaccinated. The department of health is looking at a variety of mechanisms in other countries to do it electronically through cellphones or other forms of demonstration.”
According to Ramaphosa, the vaccine passport will come into effect soon and South Africans will be advised accordingly.
The announcement comes as England announced the dropping of such plans for its population. England’s health secretary Sajid Javid told BBC that the government has halted plans to introduce vaccine passports for access into nightclubs and large events.
Countries and regions that have vaccines passports include the EU, Israel, and China.
By A Correspondent- Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono’s lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa yesterday asked the presiding magistrate to recuse herself since her impartiality was compromised because of her previous averments.
Chin’ono is being accused of inciting public violence. He appeared before magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti-Guwuriro.
Mtetwa, Doug Coltart and Gift Mtisi are Chin’ono’s defence counsel.
As the trial opened, the State informed the court that it was ready for trial, but Mtetwa objected saying trial could not go ahead under the same magistrate who failed an impartiality test when she ruled that Chin’ono had a case to answer during an application for exception.
Mtetwa said there was a pending review of Muchuchuti-Guwuriro’s ruling on exception, saying their review may be granted because she had not responded to their application which she was cited.
She also said she had another case at the High Court.
“There is a pending review at the High Court on your ruling. The grounds for review, your worship, include certain pronouncements and the ruling which suggests you believe in the guilty of the accused and in our respectful view those comments naturally are a concern to the accused and your impartiality is, therefore, doubtful when you made those pronouncements,” Mtetwa said.
“So the review whatever the results of the view your comments will pacify from further prosecution of the accused and from those reasons we apply that when we wait for the review proceedings that in any event if you don’t want to stay the proceedings today you have to recuse yourself,” she submitted.
“In any event, the lead counsel is not available. You are aware that there is no contestation since there is no affidavit of yourself to answer your allegations and as it is our application is not contested at the High Court. For that reason, we may seek the postponement of the matter. You have the power to postpone a matter and the reason obviously is for the justice to be done,” Mtetwa further said.
The State, however, objected, saying the application before the High Court was yet to be set down and could not stop the proceedings.
Muchuchuti-Guwuriro postponed the matter to today for ruling.
Donning mini-skirts, popular for being the dress code for the oldest profession, girls as young as 12, file past the railway tracks towards Harare-Chinhoyi Highway, where one after the other, they are picked by motorists to unknown destinations.
Behind the girls, lies a slum settlement that stretches closer to Westgate, a medium-density residential area in Harare, where the girls brag, they have had a constant customer base for their sex services.
Some of the girls claimed that posh vehicles drive to their settlement to fetch them each evening.
So, to quench the pleasures of the men frequenting their settlement, the girls are picked everyday and later after business, dropped, to them a sign of thriving business even as they look underage to be in the oldest profession.
“We have no choice. You can see the conditions we live under — poverty defines our daily living here and if we don’t sell sex, we can’t have food. As for me, I have no parents and I live with my little nine-year-old sister whom I have to feed because our parents died some three years ago,” 15-year-old Pegina (not real name) told Ubuntu Times.
Pegina made no reservation about disclosing what killed her parents, saying they both died of Aids, a disease she said neither spared her nor her little sister as they both acquired HIV at birth.
Pegina said condom use was a rarity each time she engaged her clients.
“More often, my clients who are much older than me — some men in their forties — just prefer not to use protection when they sleep with me. There is nothing I can do about it because at the end of the day what I need is money,” she said.
In the slums where Pegina and her sister live with many other girls of their age, there are apparently scores of grown women also involved in sex trade — many in fact like 43-year-old Marian Chihoko who openly said sex workers of her age were facing competition from young girls.
“Underage girls have put us out of business here because they are often preferred by almost every client who comes here because they look young and more attractive than some of us, but also because these young girls charge very little for their services,” Chihoko said.
Zimbabwe teen sex workers
At Caledonia informal settlement, approximately 30 kilometers east of Harare, child sex workers are not a strange phenomenon.
Here, much-grown women like 63-year-old Memory Mhere, admitted that they were making brisky business hiring out desperate young girls to much-grown sex predators.
“The girls here now know I have a wider customer base and so they (girls) come to me asking me to connect them to the rich men who want sex services and I do that and payment is given to me and then I pay a smaller percentage to the girls,” Mhere says.
A pimpstress guru in her own right, Mhere admitted to making a killing trading out underage girls for sex — US$50 to US$65 on a good day.
She, however, vehemently denies encouraging underage prostitution in her locality, saying in fact the girls approach her on their own.
“I don’t move around calling the young girls to come and sell their bodies.
It’s them who come here knowing I am well connected to well-to-do men who frequent this area searching for young girls to sleep with,” Mhere said.
For development experts like Hebert Ruhaka based in the capital Harare, slums across Zimbabwe’s towns and cities have become fertile grounds for child prostitution.
“Poverty is rampant in slums and more often than not, girls there have no access to life’s basics and in order to get the basics, the girls have had to join the oldest profession whether they are in school or at home,” he said.
“The elderly women, who lure young girls into sex work, get paid by their clients who sleep with the poor underage girls more often without protection, with the girls rewarded with very little money by their pimpstresses.
At times they are not paid at all or if lucky they are instead rewarded with food handouts,” said Ruhaka.
According to many experts, underage sex workers in this southern African country have dropped out of school, as their poverty-stricken families cannot pay school fees for them, with many of the girls like 15-year-old Pegina apparently orphaned.
In 2019, about 60% of Zimbabwe’s children in primary school were sent home for failing to pay fees, according to the Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee.
“We are seeing a spike in social vices like child prostitution and domestic violence,” says Father Martin Nyadewo of St Peter’s Parish in Mbare, a high-density southern suburb of Harare.
“Young girls are increasingly taking to the streets to sell their bodies to be able to feed themselves and their families.” Nyadewo’s remarks appeared in a July 2020 article in America in the Jesuit Review magazine.
By A Correspondent- In a shocking incident, a Grade 3 pupil from Queensdale Primary School committed suicide.
Farai Munemo from Glenwood Park, Epworth is said to have resorted to taking the drastic action of hanging himself following a disagreement with his mother.
According to sources who spoke to iHarare, on the fateful day, the minor had an altercation with his younger sibling. Their mother is reported to have told Farai off for hitting his sibling.
Seemingly stung by his mother’s words, Farai is reported to have gone to his room showing contrition.
Once in his room, it is suspected that he took a rope and hanged himself. The room does not have a ceiling and the young child tied a rope to the roof trusses after climbing on some furniture.
A Zimbabwean actress who had been missing in Los Angeles for several days has been found, police said Monday.
Tanyaradzwa “Tanya” Fear, 31, was found safe and her family has been notified, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Additional details were not immediately available.
A tweet from the FindTanyaFear Twitter account, which is run by her family, said: “It is with great pleasure and relief to report that Tanya has been found safe by police today.
“We understand she is not physically harmed but as a precaution, is being assessed at a local hospital.
“We wish to thank police, members of the public for their efforts in locating Tanya, as well as the outpouring of concern and support over the last several days.
“Tanya’s family are relieved and extremely grateful.”
A statement posted on the Twitter account earlier on Monday said she left without her mobile phone or purse and was reported missing by a friend.
Fear’s mother, Yvonne Marimo, said at the time: “I’m devastated about this situation, and I appeal to anyone with information to please come forward to bring our daughter back home safely”.
Fear has appeared in the British TV series “Doctor Who” and the film “Kick-Ass 2” among other projects and recently launched a standup comedy career.
Friends said Fear, who lives near the Hollywood Bowl, had last been seen on September 9 at the Trader Joe’s on Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood.
Before she was found, Fear’s manager said he spoke with her just over a week ago and she was fine.
“Since she’s been here, she’s had a great career and this is just the beginning,” said manager Alex Cole. “We’re obviously concerned and (hope) we find out this is a simple mistake and we find her.”
Fear was born in Zimbabwe and raised in London before moving to the United States.
By A Correspondent- The United States Agency for International Development (USAid) food security arm, Famine Early Warning Systems Network (Fewsnet) says household food stocks are beginning to run low as the surging cost of living continues to ravage personal incomes.
Despite a significant drop in the annual inflation rate down to 50% in August, the cost of living continues to go up and is significantly above poor households’ income in urban and rural areas.
This has again called into question how macroeconomic data is collected by official sources such as Treasury and Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat).
Consumer bodies report that the cost of living is now over $40 000 per month while most people are earning between $18 000 and $26 000.
“With the progression of the 2021-22 consumption season, households’ own-produced food stocks are beginning to run low. Some poor households have already exhausted their stocks, especially in the south where production was negatively affected by above-average rainfall during the 2020/21 agricultural season,” Fewsnet said in its latest food security report.
“Macroeconomic challenges and constrained purchasing power continue to negatively affect livelihoods and food access, especially among poor urban and rural households. Although official annual inflation continues to decline, the cost of living remains high and continues to increase beyond what poor households can afford. ZimStat reported annual inflation at 50% in August, down from 56% in July and 107% in June.”
“However, monthly inflation increased to 4,2% in August from 2,6% in July. Also, according to ZimStat, the cost of living increased by 3,1% and 3,7% from July to August, as measured by both the cost of minimum food requirements and the total cost of food and non-food needs to stay above the poverty line.”
The reason behind the high cost of living is the growing disparity between the official and parallel forex rates with the former standing at US$1:$86,21 and the latter US$1:$160.
Since the parallel forex rate is viewed as the true exchange between the greenback and the Zimbabwe dollar, businesses are pegging their goods and services against it to preserve value.
Some government departments and local authorities have been raising prices for goods and services to match the parallel forex rate.
“Despite the government directive for goods and services charged in Zimbawean dollar to be pegged at prevailing official auction rates, most businesses are applying parallel market exchange rates, driving high and increasing prices in Zimbabwean dollar terms. With the official exchange rate around US$1:$85, parallel market rates are over 50% higher,” Fewsnet said.
“In addition, up to 30% fees are imposed on non-cash Zimdollar mobile money and electronic transfers. High fuel and transportation costs and on-going transportation challenges due to COVID-19-related movement restrictions continue to negatively impact livelihoods in both rural and urban areas.”
COVID-19 regulations have also limited people’s ability to eke out a living.
“Poor households reliant on informal sector activities, including cross-border trade, petty trade, remittances, small-scale industries, and informal transport services, are experiencing the biggest decline in income and access to food,” Fewsnet said.
However, in areas where crop production was impacted by heavy rains, these places will experience stressed outcomes beginning next month with the onset of the lean season.
“Most deficit areas are expected to experience stressed outcomes through September. Crisis outcomes are expected to emerge in these deficit areas starting in October as households’ own produced stocks decline and they are forced to purchase on the open market with reduced purchasing power from poor incomes,” Fewsnet said.
“Urban areas are expected to remain stressed throughout the outlook period due to low income among poor households and above-average prices.”
Despite the national poverty rate being at nearly 50%, and growing, government continues to claim that the economy is rebounding and revised its initial growth projection by 0,4 percentage points to 7,8% by year end.
By A Correspondent- Musicians Jah Prayzah and Killer T were detained for more than four hours at RGM International Airport on Monday after performing for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s political archenemies in Cape Town, South Africa.
Security agents at the airport accused the two singers and their band members of possessing suspiciously-fake Covid-19 certificates, despite their pleas that the documents were legitimate.
They were reportedly forced to undergo fresh PCR tests before being let go at around 8PM – some four hours after they landed.
Travellers to Zimbabwe must present a negative PCR test certificate at the airport taken 48 hours before starting their journey. With no way to verify authenticity, officials can refuse one entry out of malice or other motivations.
Jah Prayzah and Killer T serenaded guests on Sunday at a 50th birthday celebration for businessman Adam Molai, who is married to the late former president Robert Mugabe’s niece, Sandra.
On the guest list were exiled former ministers Saviour Kasukuwere, Patrick Zhuwao and Walter Mzembi – all former Mugabe loyalists forced to flee after he was ousted in a 2017 military coup. As a phone video camera panned to him at a picturesque venue with sweeping lawns, Zhuwao shouted “hokoyo” (beware) – some will interpret it as a message for Mnangagwa.
Mnangagwa is permanently fearful of a resurgence of Mugabe loyalists in Zanu-PF, who were given the moniker Generation 40 or G40.
Jah Prayzah, real name Mukudzei Mukombe, was a firm Zanu-PF favourite after singing ‘Kutonga Kwaro’, one of the soundtracks of Mnangagwa’s disputed presidency. His dalliance with Mnangagwa’s rivals appears to have incensed Zimbabwe’s notoriously partisan state security agents leading to the airport punishment.
Writing on Twitter on Sunday, Jah Prayzah said: “My first ever big and meaningful endorsement deal came from Savanna Tobacco (Pacific) back in 2015. Game rese rakabva rachinja after that. We are in Cape Town as we celebrate the founder, Mr Molai’s 50th birthday. May God give you more years and more blessings Sir.”
ZimLive has reached out to both Jah Prayzah and Killer T for a comment.
By A Correspondent- Norton MP Temba Mliswa has described as pathetic the recent judgement by a Chinhoyi court instructing the exhumation of former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe for reburial at the national srine, the Heroes Acre.
Mliswa appealed to the Zimbabwean government and the courts to respect the wishes of the Mugabe family and let the former Zimbabwean leader rest in peace adding that such pathetic judgements engineered by people such as Ziyambi Ziyambi, projected te country in bad light.
Zvakwana.”

The man was identified as Moven Vhiga, a farmer in Glendale.
A man referred to as Tsuro and one of Vhiga’s associates confirmed the arrangement saying that Vhiga already has 5 wives, the 4th being an older sister to the 14-year-old girl.

By A Correspondent- Thabo Marule (42) decided to build an extra room and a garage onto his house, but he found something unexpected in his yard!
While a builder was digging in his yard in Meadowlands, Soweto on Thursday he heard a strange sound, and when he looked he realised he’d struck a human skull with a pickaxe!
Thabo’s uncle, Stanely Marule, who was overseeing the men working in the yard said they also found a blanket and a rope, which they thought were used on the person buried in the shallow grave.
He said he told the men to stop working and reported the matter to the police.
Thabo rushed home after he got the news.
“At first I thought it was a dog that I had buried years ago,” he told Daily Sun.
He said when the police allowed him into his house he saw the human remains.
“We have been staying here four years and there hasn’t been anything weird happening. The spirit of this person never troubled us at all,” he said.
He said he hoped the family could come and get the spirit and the remains of their relative so they could give the person a dignified burial.
Thabo said they bought the house from a gogo from the North West, who had since died.
He said they heard her relative had been missing for years and they’re wondering if the remains could be the missing family member.
Thabo said the house was in bad shape when they got it as a nyaope boy was staying there.
Captain Phephi Matlou said they were investigating a case of murder.
She told Daily Sun: “The contractors were digging and came across the human remains.
“All role players were called to the site and it was decided that a case of murder be registered. An investigation is underway.”

By A Correspondent- MDC Alliance president Nelson Chamisa said the biggest problem the party faces is infiltration by Zanu-PF.
Chamisa was speaking at the party’s 22nd-anniversary celebrations held in Bulawayo on 11 September 2021.
The celebrations were cut short by the police who said the event had not been approved.
This is what Chamisa said: We know our biggest problem has been infiltration. You see someone given a position by Zanu-PF, see someone going to State House. When you joined the organisation you were not at State House you joined in your branch, why should you go to State House? For what? Why do you want to be paraded like a brahman that is being auctioned? Why, cheapening yourself? To lose integrity and dignity for what reason? Just because you have been given money. Life is not about money and trinkets that don’t matter.
So today as we celebrate 22 years, some are asking us, celebrating as who?’ We are celebrating the journey of this struggle, we are celebrating the idea that we have been out there for 22 years. We have seen it all. A lot has been thrown at us but we are not collapsing. We are standing and tell you what the party has grown bigger than what it was. What was done by Hichilema we will multiply by 10 here. You have seen what has happened to our party, you have seen what has happened in Parliament, it’s now a playground for crooks. Parliament is no longer a legitimate body that has a reflection of the representation of the people because legitimate representatives have been withdrawn and replaced by unelected people. It tells you that illegitimacy that was buffeting Mnangagwa’s seat has now migrated into Parliament so we now have illegitimacy in Parliament. Illegitimacy is the biggest problem in this country. We have people who are not elected in Parliament but what is the way forward? The only way forward is what I am now going to give you as we go we have seen Zanu-PF authoritarian consolidation dramatised – recalled, seeing people do this and that.
Chamisa’s remarks follow recent defections from his party to Zanu-PF by some members.
This is the worst power crisis Zimbabwe has faced since 2019, when outages lasted up to 18 hours at a time.- NewZwire
By A Correspondent- The family of the late President Robert Mugabe has filed an appeal at the magistrate’s court in Chinhoyi against a ruling that said the late long time ruler should be reburied at Heroes Acre.
Speaking to eNCA, the Mugabe family lawyer, Fungai Chimwamurombe said: The ruling that came up two days ago has been appealed. Our team right now is in Chinhoyi filing an appeal against that decision. And the reasoning of the magistrate was that the 3 children of the late president were not part of the hearing that was done at the chief community court hence they should not be approaching the magistrate court. A decision which we believe was erred, hence we challenge an appeal.
The effect of filing an appeal is to suspend the decision that was made. Chimwamurombe refused to comment on the Mugabe exhumation matter beyond the challenge to the Zvimba Chief’s decision to have Mugabe’s body exhumed.

Tinashe Sambiri|The arrest of the Minister of State for Masvingo Province and Zanu PF provincial chairperson Ezra Chadzamira is a direct result of escalating factional battles in the former revolutionary party.
Chadzamira was arrested for fraudulently distributing sugarcane plots.
Chadzamira also controls mining claims around Masvingo Province.
Party insiders told ZimEye.com, a faction aligned to Zanu PF vice president Constantino Chiwenga is plotting Chadzamira’s downfall.
According an impeccable source, party stalwarts held a secret meeting in Gutu District, days before Chadzamira’s arrest.
“Former police officer Robson Mavhenyengwa and Masvingo North MP Davies Marapira are eyeing Chadzamira’s position.
The two are determined to remove Chadzamira from office as they feel he has become too powerful and his wings have to be clipped,” said the source.
“Things are not well, the whole thing emanates from the internecine battle between ED and Chiwenga,” claimed a senior Zanu PF official.
“Party stalwarts want to crush Chadzamira’s Team Bholato that has risen to the summit of political events in Masvingo Province,” said another Zanu PF official.

By A Correspondent-The government has resumed the controversial National Youth Service training (NYS) at Border Gezi Training Camp in Mt Darwin, with youth organisations demanding the disbandment of the programme.
The militia group, popularly known as the Green Bombers, has been criticised after it turned partisan, serving only the ruling party Zanu PF’s interests.
In their petition to the government demanding the disbandment of the programme, the young people’s affiliated organisations said the government should reconsider the proposed re-introduction of the NYS until such a time when there is a national consensus on the policy guiding the programme.
The organisations, led by the National Association of Youth Organisations (NAYO), a youth umbrella body for youth organisations working in Zimbabwe included Vision Africa, Southern African Parliamentary Support Trust (SAPST), Community Advocacy Development Trust (CADT), gave oral evidence to the Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Parliamentary Portfolio Committee last week.
NAYO coordinator Macdonald Munyoro presented the petition arguments to the committee.
“The government is re-introducing the NYS without evaluating and getting lessons learnt from 2001-2008 in terms of approach, ideology, relevance, feedback from citizens, youth themselves and without identifying gaps from previous program. No evidence and wide consultations have been done. The government should appoint a Commission of Inquiry into the alleged human rights violations and violence committed by the past NYS graduates in order to establish what went wrong,” Munyoro said.
According to the youth groups, NYS was condemned by the United Nations (UN) and Africa Union.
In their petition, the youth demanded to know if Parliament had debated the cabinet’s decision and inquire on its funding modalities.
“The NYS was characterised by the perception and belief that it was a ruling party ( Zanu PF) programme as evidenced by gathered information regarding the provision of materials from inception that consisted exclusively Zanu PF party. Where are the funds to roll out the programme being derived from and is there any parliament approval,” Munyoro querried.
NAYO also called on Parliament to exercise its oversight role to ensure consultations for a national, inclusive, non discriminatory process in shaping the issues that affect youth in the country in line with the constitution and best practice.
“The NYS should be separated from Defence ministry and close all training sites linked to the military, for instance, the Mt Darwin Border Gezi Camp is a former 2 Brigade military camp

MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has called on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to apologise for his role in the Gukurahundi massacres.
He also called for an end to the vandalism of memorial plagues erected at Gukurahundi mass graves.
The vandalism is widely believed to be done by State security agents.
Chamisa said this during a visit to Bhalagwe Gukurahundi mass graves where a Bulawayo-based pressure group, Ibhetshu likaZulu, has had two plaques vandalised.
He was accompanied by his deputies Welshman Ncube and Lynette Karenyi-kore. Posting on his Facebook page, Chamisa said: “I visited Bhalagwe in Matobo. Don’t vandalise erected plaques.”
“Memory and history can’t be vandalised. To deal with past atrocities, the State must take responsibility and genuinely apologise, allow a process of truth telling and accountability, allow for restitutive justice, restorative justice and rehabilitative justice, but not retributive justice,” he said, adding: “Allow and respect families to mourn and remember their relatives in reburials, memorial and plaques, allow for closure, healing and reconciliation.”
Contacted for comment yesterday, Chamisa said he was moved by the fact that twice the plaques had been installed at Bhalagwe and got vandalised.
“I know that there have been efforts to erect the plaque and twice it was vandalised. I wanted to touch around the issue and the region. I saw that it was vandalised and heard that there are attempts to find closure by those affected, that is why I posted on the issue,” Chamisa said.
“The best way is to be truthful about it, apologise, have the perpetrators apologise, have justice and rehabilitation of the families. We must take this issue as part of our history we can’t erase but we must build a memorial about it.”
“Under our government, that is a day one assignment. You cannot prosper without healing. We have to deal with internal acrimony. Zimbabweans are not happy and want healing. The best way to make our people happy is to deal with these outstanding issues,” he said.
“We cannot afford to play politics around this issue, we have to let the communities talk and get healed for us to move forward,” he said.
The Bhalagwe mass grave is a burial site for 12 villagers killed during the Gukurahundi massacres in 1985.
At least 20 000 people were killed by the Fifth Brigade during Gukurahundi, according to the Catholic Commission for Peace and Justice.
The late former President Robert Mugabe described the atrocities he engineered as “a moment of madness”, but refused to publicly apologise.
His successor Mnangagwa, perceived to be a key player, has tried to address the issue, with critics describing his efforts as piece-meal. -Newsday
