Mnangagwa Spox Speaks On Ballot Paper, Tells US Senator ED’s Got Nothing To Do With ZEC Business

George Charamba
President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesman, George Charamba has reacted to United States Senator Chris Coons who recently told the Chinese broadcaster, CGTN Africa that President Mnangagwa’s administration has disappointed on its steps to ensure free and fair elections.

Charamba said Mnangagwa has in fact taken steps to ensure peaceful elections and invited election observers.

Said Charamba, “First, Government has guaranteed a peaceful poll, which is why the President has been unambiguous in his call for peace as well as taking the unexampled decision to meet with opposition parties once the Nomination Court has confirmed who is genuine and who is not.

“The idea is to get all parties to commit themselves to a non-violent free poll. Equally, the security structures are under strict orders to undergird peace in the country before, during and after the elections.

“That’s a key responsibility of Government. Second, the Government has taken a decision to invite international observers of all colour and manner to ensure the whole plebiscite unfolds in the full glare of the world.

“What Government cannot do and will not do, consistent with the law, is to instruct Zec on how to run the elections. Maybe what is unclear to the Senator is that Zec is a constitutional creature whose independence is provided for in the law.

“Whether, when and how it releases the voters’ roll and in what format, is for it to determine without undue influence from any player national or international, inside Government or outside Government. How it deploys resources availed to it to arrive at a decision on who will provide voting material, including voting paper, ink and all the attendant paraphernalia, is its prerogative.”

Minister Who Violently Chased President Mnangagwa Out Of Zimbabwe Says MDC Is Violent

The minister who barely 7 months ago single-handedly humiliated president Emmerson Mnangagwa, has caused a stir.

He is the man who was part of the deadly terror network that terrorised the head of state, eventually chasing him out of Zimbabwe on the 7th of November – the same minister who announced Mnangagwa’s letter of expulsion from work, this time has come out announcing his claims that the MDC is a violent party.

Information Minister Simon Khaya Moyo said, “he revolutionary party learnt with utter dismay the conduct and threat utterances by MDC-T leader, Nelson Chamisa and his alliance partners threatening to shut down Harare and stop elections set for July 30 should ZEC fail to accede to their demands of electoral reforms.

“In fact the claims being made by Chamisa and crew are bare and not ground on the position of the law. What comes out clear is that the MDC-T is a violent and retrogressive party whose existence strives on chaos and suffering of the people hence the utterances cannot come as a surprise.

“These utterances are unfortunate, reckless, extremely irresponsible and uncalled for.”

ZRP Warns MDC Protesters Against Violence

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has warned protesters participating in tomorrow’s mass action against violence.

The ZRP commander  who is in charge of this year’s harmonised elections, Senior Assistant Commissioner Erasmus Makodza warned against violence.

Ass Comm Makodza said, “What we are saying as police is that some people might risk not voting while in custody. Some people might lose out for what they think they are fighting for while they are in custody.

“That message should be loud and clear. Generally, as police we are saying now that the electoral courts have been set up and the dates have been promulgated, anyone found wanting in terms of violation of the law should be accounted for and should be able to face the full wrath of the law. The moment someone commits an offence during those demonstrations, he /she should be able to account for his or her actions.”

Madzibaba Finances A LIVE Nightclub

Johane Masowe eChishanu self-styled prophet Stephen Mugariri popularly known as Madzibaba Stephen says while he does not own the controversial Executive Sports Bar and Night Club in Chitungwiza, he however finances it.

He said the night club is owned by his younger brother Lloyd “Lodza” Mutyambizi.
Madzibaba Stephen popular for his “go-back-to-sender-prayers” said: “The bar is run by my brother Lloyd but I am the one who put money in it. Personally, I own a fleet of buses, trucks, grocery shops and farms among other income generating projects countrywide but I put money in the bar just to empower my little brother.

“Lloyd was jobless and he asked me to rescue him from the jaws of poverty through financing his project —the bar — and as a responsible brother I agreed. The bar is his brainchild.

“Since I put my money in it, I often check progress of the project and I am glad the young man is running it professionally,” the 34-year-old preacher told the Daily News on Sunday.
“We have agreed that Lloyd will return my money back once the project starts realising meaningful profits.”

Mugariri, who is also popular for “locking spouses spiritually to save marriages”, defended his decision to finance the pub project.

“I do not see any problem here. As mutumwa, people often request me to pray for or bless their income generating projects such as piggery and tobacco fields. So should I refuse to bless them because their projects are deemed ‘unholy’ by the society?” the Mhondoro-born preacher asked.
The entertainment joint formerly known as Mbizi Night Club opened its doors to the public early this year and it had been rumoured that it belonged to Madzibaba Stephen.

The joint is known for hosting mostly ladies of the night. Mutyambizi told this publication that customers fell in love with the joint owing to its competitive advantages.

“We boast of spacious and secure parking lot, cold beers, and good food from our canteen which includes gango. We also have talented DJs.

“Apart from this, we have five clean and secure private rooms here which are for free. The place is frequented by commercial sex workers,” said Mutyambizi.

Of late, the joint is a favourite hunting ground for commercial sex workers.

Since February, the entertainment joint hosted artistes such as Suluman Chimbetu, Progress Chipfumo, Zoey, Beverly Sibanda and Andy Muridzo among others. Daily News

EXPOSED: Fake Minister Set To Be Named

An imposter posing as the minister of Lands and agriculture Perrance Shiri is said to be named after the government department discovered his machinations.

The individual, believed to be a male, is reportedly using the minister’s name to enforce transactions.

The Deputy Minister, Davis Marapira spoke of this as he revealed to the public that they should be aware of fraudsters pretending to be Perrance Shiri who are demanding money from unsuspecting land seekers.

Marapira said the fraudsters are using the number 0772944530, a phone number registered under Mercey Shiri who is not at all related to his boss, Gen. Shiri. He said the Minister does not charge land seekers administration fees or any levy for processing applications.

He said, “the modus operandi behind the fraudulent activities is that several individuals have been phoned by an individual or individuals purporting to be Minister Shiri or representing him. The bogus persons would communicate that the recipient’s application for land has been approved or that its processing is at an advanced stage before demanding money.” – state media

Chamisa Is Older Than Mnangagwa On Running A Party DO YOU DENY THIS?

By Dorrothy Moyo| MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa is arguably “older” than Emmerson Mnangagwa when it comes to experience running a political party (over 16 years at senior party level, while Mnangagwa is only 4 years old since his appointment in 2014). But Newsday publisher Trevor Ncube has claimed that Chamisa is too inexperienced to run the country.

He wrote on his portal on the 3rd June “Mediocrity is when you think a chap who has never run a tuckshop can suddenly lead 17 million people. Dream on.” PICTURE

ZANU PF Hold Their Own Protest To Counter Chamisa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s party, ZANU PF youths are holding their own protest march seen to counter that of the MDC party’s on Tuesday.

The development comes as the MDC announced it is going onto the streets to demand electoral reforms.

Zanu-PF UK chairman, Nick Mangwana, said the march will be in solidarity with President Mnangagwa’s call for peaceful elections and no to violence call.

The plan is that ZANU PF members will gather at Robert Mugabe Square at 10am on Tuesday 5 June.

MDC Alliance protesters will on the other hand hold their own protest first at Africa Unity Square, after which they will march to the ZEC offices.

It is there where they will present their document of demands and then proceed to Munhumutapa building.

Stop Denigrating Chamisa, Opposition Leader Tells Mnangagwa

Terrence Mawawa

An opposition leader has accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa’ s supporters of desperately trying to denigrate youthful MDC leader Nelson Chamisa.

Multi-Racial Christian Democrats (MRCD) leader Mattheus Guchutu has defended MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa saying that he
is like the Biblical Joseph. Chamisa is being persecuted for nursing a life changing dream, according to Guchutu.

Guchutu’s MRCD is part of the coalition MDC Alliance.

“I have not seen anything related to overstatements or lies associated with our Presidential candidate. If I had any particular problem with him, I would go to him privately and say please improve on this and that.

Even in the bible, most of the
people who did very well saw beyond the current events.

You can talk of Joseph; he was called a dreamer and through those dreams, he became the first Prime
Minister of Egypt,” said Guchutu.

Jonathan Moyo Coming Back Home?

Terrence Mawawa

A columnist with a State controlled paper who writes under the
pseudonym Bishop Lazarus has claimed that exiled
G40 front man Jonathan Moyo is on his
way back home.

Bishop Lazarus, who is widely believed to be Presidential
spokesperson George Charamba has also said former President Robert Mugabe’s nephew, Patrick Zhuwao may be left isolated.

“Tyson was very helpful and useful in clearing hazy pictures about the

great escape. Now he is back to
face some music. Not very
loud music by the way. On
the other hand, Prof Moyo of
the “it’s cold out there”
fame is also on his way
back home.

Yes, dear congregants he is on his
way back. Don’t be fooled by all that fake bravado. Lots of reaching out and selling out going on behind the scenes.

The Prof was just furious that he was beaten to the game by Tyson.

So, yeah the Prof is on his way back
— not with his tail between the legs.
True, let me leave this story
for now.
…But then dread Patrick Zhuwao is totally in the dark,” claimed Bishop Lazarus.

Zanu PF Activist Appointed Chief Wedza

Terrence Mawawa

A declared Zanu PF activist has been appointed the new Chief Wedza in Zvishavane as the ruling party seeks to consolidate its support base in the area before the coming elections.

Ruling party insiders have indicated that Kennias Mnyamani Moyo is a Zanu PF activist. He was installed as Chief Wedza last week at a ceremony officiated by Midlands State Minister Owen Ncube.

Moyo’ s appointment is meant to drum up support for the ruling party because traditional leaders play a vital role in campaigning for Zanu PF, political observers have said.

“Moyo will obviously play a leading role in campaigning for the ruling party. This is a strategic move meant to drum up support for Zanu PF,” sources in Zvishavane said last week.

MDC MP Assaulted In Intraparty Violence

MDC-T Supporters

Terrence Mawawa

An MDC MP was allegedly assaulted by party youths as supporters clashed over selection of candidates.

“Honourable Prosper Mutseyami was attacked in Mutare yesterday.

The candidate selection programme was disrupted by senior party officials,” party sources alleged.

” Chairman Chimhini, Lynette Kore, Joyce Makonya, Wirimai Mkwishu, Itai Masaka, Tatenda Nhamarare and one Mr Tekeshe decided to defy the national directive and went on to conduct primary elections in all the wards in Chikanga/Dangamvura including ward 17 – which had already been done a week earlier.

As if that was not enough the cabal held a meeting at a private venue and planned a manhunt to attack the national leaders who had been deployed to conduct the election the next day.

More so they planned to attack fellow party officials, Hon Gonese and Hon Mutseyami.

Later in the evening they deployed thugs who followed the national team to town. They were driving a white Honda CRV,”added the party sources.

When Hon Mutseyami went outside to answer his phone he was hit on the forehead with an iron rod by an unknown man and he collapsed.

The thug took his car keys and his Iphone7 and drove off at high speed,”added the sources.

IS HE TELLING THE TRUTH? – Makandiwa Says I Never Received $1 mln Cash

UNITED Family International Church founder Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa has hit back at business couple Mr Upenyu Mashangwa and his wife, Blessing, saying the claim that they paid US$1,1 million in tithes and offerings is a “blue lie”.

In an application filed last week at the High Court for dismissal of the Mashangwa couple’s US$6,5 million lawsuit, Prophet Makandiwa and his wife, Ruth, said the case lacks merit.
The UFIC leader’s lawyer, Advocate Lewis Uriri urged the court to protect itself from abuse at the hands of the litigants (Mashangwa couple) who “brought the suit without serious intention to obtain relief”.

“Equally groundless and inconsistent with common sense is the respondents’ allegation that they made contributions to the tune of US$1,1 million into the third applicant (UFIC) as led by the first and second applicants (the Makandiwas).

“It is submitted and therefore trite to note that tithes and offerings constitute 10 percent of the giver’s income. In the instant, if the allegation by the respondents is true that they gave US$1,1 million as offerings, it automatically turns out that their net worth was above US$11 million as at the time they disassociated from the third applicant. It is contended that it is impossible that the respondents could be having that net worth.

“In the circumstances, it cannot be gainsaid that the allegation by the respondents to the effect that they paid US$1,1 million is a blue lie. The foregoing facts evince that the respondents and their company were afflicted with penury during the time they allege to have contributed or gave as tithes and offerings to the sum of US$1,1 million.”

Prophet Makandiwa said the lawsuit to recover the tithes lacks seriousness and is meant to harass and annoy him.

Said the UFIC leader: “The case is an annoyance and abuse of the court. The allegation made therein falls outside the region of probability and therefore ought to be dismissed.”
The preacher argued that tithes and offerings are biblical concepts and an act of worship that edifies the relationship between a believer and God.

Prophet Makandiwa stated that tithes and offerings are an act of faith given voluntarily.
“…those were free will offerings not recoverable from anyone unless if the respondents (Mashangwas) wish to try the impossible and get that from God, the receiver of the offerings,” he said.

On the claim that the UFIC leader pay Mr Mashangwa US$700 000 for damages over a debt cancellation prophecy involving a house in Marlborough, Prophet Makandiwa said the house was never sold by a local bank as alleged.

In his court application for dismissal, Prophet Makandiwa said the Marlborough house was sold to Nemaji Family Trust for US$800 000 on February 29, 2012, before it was sold to Prophet Walter Magaya and his wife, Tendai, who then obtained bank loans using the house as security.
“The principal case is so manifestly groundless that it suffers from predictable failure. It does not accord with common sense and is unworthy of serious consideration. The case deserves to be summarily dismissed in terms of Order 11 Rule 75 (1) of the High Court Rules 1971.”

Prophet Makandiwa denied that he recommended Mr Tichawona Mawere as a great lawyer to the Mashangwa couple.

“It is denied that the applicants (Makandiwas) ever made representations to the respondents (Mashangwas) to the effect that Mawere was a great lawyer who could never lose a case. The truth of the matter is that the prophecy given by the applicants concerning Mawere related exclusively to their family problems. It related to Mawere’s use of their legal skills at home, particularly that they used their legal skills in resolving their family disputes,” he said.

“The couple lies that their business closed down due to defamatory statements (by Prophet Makandiwa). Evidence on the company’s Facebook account suggests otherwise and affidavits by Takawira Nzombe and Mrs Winnet Nyakabawo who purchased products from the said business show that no such closure took place.

“(Prophet) Makandiwa seeks the dismissal of the lawsuit on the basis of the claims’ falsehoods and the frivolous and vexatious nature of the entire lawsuits. – state media

WHAT’S GOING ON NOW? – Chinoz Releases Own Music Album

State Media – The imprint of a politician cum comedian has started to be felt in the music industry with Joseph Chinotimba and his musical outfit, the Bulawayo Logistics Band staging popular performances at his political rallies in Buhera South.

Joseph Chinotimba

Chinotimba, who was recently endorsed as the Ambassador of Happiness, kept thousands of ruling party supporters on their toes as he performed at the launch of the party campaign at Mutiusinazita in a constituency he represents in parliament.

“I joined the music industry by default when I went to buy a PA system in South Africa and a friend urged me to buy complete band instruments, and that was the start of my music career,” he said.

The legislator added that his entry into the music industry is proving to be easy as he has been able to compose a number of songs, few weeks after joining the entertainment industry and expects to release an album in the next few months.

“Life in the music industry is so interesting and I am working towards producing an album within few months to come,” he said.

Chinotimba said he will work with popular musicians as he perfects his productions and has already composed songs that include President Mnangagwa, Kurota Hope and Murudo that are part of the Sungura genre.

With his main massage being political, Chinotimba seeks to join great political commissars like Elliot Manyika, who used the same methods to reach out to party supporters and expand his campaign strategies.

Mnangagwa Quotes The Bible To Explain Elections

President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Sunday published a scriptural quotation from the Bible to “encourage” peace during the preparations for the upcoming elections.

He wrote, “as we enter the official campaign period, let us remember to put peace, love and unity before all else.

As we are taught in Galatians 5:14 “For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself’.”

Have a Blessed Sunday!”

Doctor Circumcises 13y Old For Money

Howard Mission Hospital is presently in the eye of a legal storm as its chief medical officer Dr Aaron Museka is facing a $50 000 lawsuit for ‘improper conduct’ and ‘negligence’ after a minor was recently circumcised at the hospital without his parent’s consent.

But most interestingly, the personnel from the hospital who recruited the minor from Majome Primary School in Mazowe district for the procedure were reportedly ‘agents’ of a non-governmental organisation, Population Services International (PSI), who were paid commission for the people they bring in for circumcision.
Lawyers representing parents of the minor, Mutamangira & Associates, have since written to Howard Mission Hospital demanding $50 000 for the “shock, pain and suffering” caused by the operation.
It is believed that sometime in January, personnel from the hospital, who purported to be working for a programme under PSI, approached Majome Primary School and handed out consent forms to learners, including the 13-year-old boy, which were supposed to be signed by their parents or guardians for the procedure to be undertaken.

However, the minor’s parents withheld their consent. But on January 29, the boy was circumcised anyway and had to be taken home by an ambulance since he could not walk.

“On asking the ambulance personnel, it was discovered that the minor child had been circumcised by Dr Aaron Museka, who is a medical practitioner employed at Howard Mission Hospital.

“Our client’s child went through a horrendous experience, which saw him failing to walk, and to go to school. This clearly speaks to a case of serious assault and intrusion into our client’s child’s privacy,” said the lawyers in a recent letter of demand addressed to Dr Museka, and copied to Health and Child Care Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa, Health Professions Authority of Zimbabwe, PSI, and Medical and Dental Professions Council of Zimbabwe.
When the concerned parents made enquiries, Dr Museka reportedly undertook to investigate the matter.

The parents were later called by a female doctor from Concession District Clinic, who promised to give them feedback within three weeks. To date, nothing has happened.

However, the lawyers maintain that there was nothing urgent to warrant the procedure without the parent’s consent.

In any case, the lawyers claim, Section 76 of the Children’s Act specifically stipulates that where consent to conduct a medical procedure is withheld, the operation can only proceed after applying and getting approval from the Magistrates’ Court.

They therefore contend that in light of the current circumstances, the circumcision not only showed “improper conduct”, but was “also criminal in nature”.

“The law is very clear on such conduct by medical practitioners. It has been part of our law that a patient must provide informed consent for all medical treatment (diagnostic or therapeutic)on him or her. In our client’s case, the child had no capacity at law to consent to such an intrusive and irreversible procedure,” said the lawyers.
“We have been instructed to demand, as we hereby do, payment of damages suffered by our client in the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50 000) for the shock, pain and suffering caused by your conduct, within seven days of your receipt of this letter, failure of which we shall approach the High Court for relief.

“Our client is also amenable to negotiation due to the sensitive nature of this case. If we do not hear from you within the specific periods, we will assume that you are not interested in a settlement, and we will proceed with litigation whose costs are by no means insignificant.”
In an interview with The Sunday Mail, Dr Museka confirmed the incident, but denied carrying out the procedure.

“Yes, the child was circumcised at the hospital, but it was not me. The people who are working on the lawsuit lack ground work because they are saying it’s me as I am the chief medical officer, and I am sure they do not know there are other practitioners capable of circumcising as well at the hospital.”
He however could not say who had carried out the operation.

On a standard male circumcision consent form, there are three sections that have to be signed by the parent, guardian and medical practitioner, especially if the patient is under 18 years.

There are also questions on whether standard procedures, which includes group counselling, one-on-one sessions and a full body check-up were followed before the circumcision.

After the procedure has been administered, there are 15-minute post interval check-ups for 30 to 45 minutes, including education on how to maintain an infection-free wound. – state media

Khupe Raises Flag Over Electoral Reforms

Thokozani Khupe

By Own Correspondent| The holding of elections without electoral reforms is a futile acitivity which will see Zanu Pf manipulating the electoral processes to its advantage, the splinter faction of the MDC T led by Dr Thokozani Khupe has said.

MDC T spokesperson, Linda Masarira said failure to implement electoral reforms by the Zanu Pf regime would plunge the country into an election that cannot pass the test of legitimacy.

Below is the FULL TEXT of the press statement.

Electoral reforms key to credible elections*

Doctor Khupe is a game changer as an epoch aspiring Zimbabwean woman President. Those that are painfully marginalized by male chauvinism and diabolic politics of patronage will find refuge through her leadership.

For the first time the republic will enjoy rule of law, equal opportunities for all, integrity in government, ethical and professionalism in public service especially in local authorities, municipalities and across the entire spectrum.

*Voter’s roll*

On the 29th of May the election date was gazetted, yet ZEC is still to publish a final and audited voters roll. This proclamation is extremely fishy and suspicious due to the fact that it was done whilst voter inspection was still in progress.

It would appear that the ZANU PF government is playing its usual tricks of manipulating the voters roll. Without a clean and audited voters roll Zimbabweans should simply forget about holding a free and fair elections that can pass the test of legitimacy.

There is an uneven election ground as the system is still ignoring the abuse of women in politics due to the patriarchal nature of Zimbabwean politics. It is worrisome that there is now a perpetual intervention and inclusion of the military and security sector in national politics.

In our quest to have a fair electoral process there is need of an intensive ballot audit and counting of votes soon after the election as delays might create an atmosphere of unfairness.

The military should play its constitutional role of promoting peace and protecting citizens rather than interfering in national politics.

We are still challenging the composition of ZEC administration/secretariat which constitutes 15% of retired army personnel. This crop of retired army personnel also form the reserve force of the army of Zimbabwe which poses a serious conflict of interest especially now since we came out of a military managed coup.

*Sub polling stations*

ZEC wants to cause confusion in the whole system by introducing more polling stations when voter registration which was polling station based has already been finished. After voter registration every registered voter was assigned a polling station where they would cast their vote.

During the BVR inspection people confirmed their polling stations where they are going to vote. Surprisingly, now after the exercise is over ZEC is planning on assigning voters to these 1500 new polling stations. Won’t we find ourselves in a scenario where people will be turned away enmasse from their original polling stations? Could this be a tactical way of removing someone from a voters roll? Is this not a way of opening up secret polling stations that will be new and no one knows their location?

MDC T will never allow these shenanigans and clandestine setting up of extra polling stations as this will cause confusion and probably duplicate polling stations where a single person can double vote as what happened in 2013.

In conclusion we are still in the same situation which necessitated the call for reforms so having elections without reforms is a futile activity. Boycotting elections is not an option as we will just be playing into ZANU PF’s plans.

Constitutionalism, institutional reform, electoral reform and a diametric shift in the trajectory of governance will reign and be the order of the day if we vote President Dr Thokozani Khupe as the President of Zimbabwe.

We will ensure transparency within the fiscus, pro-policies and prioritization of basic services as stated in our B.E.S.T manifesto.

Selfie With Mnangagwa, Man Arrested, Security Details Fired

By Paul Nyathi|An over excited ZANU PF member who made his way to President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the podium at a rally in Gweru and attempted taking a selfie with him was arrested and fined for his action.

The incident that was caught on video, which has since gone viral, also landed three members of Mnangagwa’s close security unit in trouble.

The Zanu PF councillor from Masvingo, identified as Moses Mavusa, attempted to get a picture with the president after sneaking through barricades to reach the main stage at an open space in Gweru.

Sources said the incident left three officials including one Makuyana, the president’s  aide-de-camp (ADC), and the acting head of close security Charles Mupanduki in deep trouble for security lapse.

“These guys seem to be relaxing and this is the second time that the president has been left exposed,” the source said.

“They seem to be taking it easy and in the process causing unnecessary security breaches. So, the entire commandant is not happy with that.

“The ADC works closely with the presidential close security unit and the escort unit commander, the man directly in charge of Mnangagwa’s personal security and that of close family members.”

Mavusa’s lawyer, Collin Maboke, confirmed that his client was arrested and spent the night in custody before being fined $20 for criminal nuisance.

“For convenience purposes, I advised him to pay the fine to avoid unnecessary movements from Masvingo to Gweru since he is resident in Masvingo,” he said.

“But there was nothing criminal in his conduct, as he did that out of excitement and is a Zanu PF member who lost in the council primaries,” Maboke said.

However, sources said Mavusa’s admission of guilt had caused problems for security details as they now have to explain how they were cheated and exposed Mnangagwa to possible attacks.

Questions are being raised on how the ADC allowed the “overzealous Mavusa ” to get close to the president without alerting  fellow details.

“Imagine if that guy was armed with anything, he could have injured the president and what would they have said?

“So the issue is about failing to command their troops to be vigilant,” another security source said.

Mavusa lost the Zanu PF primary polls to represent Ward 9 to businessman Takachida Mudekunye.

He was arrested after he went to the podium where Mnangagwa was and attempted to greet him while his other hand was signalling to a colleague who was on the ground to take a picture.

Mnangagwa had to push him away and the act was recorded on video which has gone viral on social media.

LIVE – Fungai Maruta Throws All-White Birthday Party

By Own Correspondent| The controversial 40 year old owner of the Madzimai Akatendeka Ltd company, Fungai Maruta last night threw an all white party in Dunstable, UK.

The development came as Maruta made false claims that her company is registered and regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority, the FCA. But she was exposed by ZimEye when the FCA revealed her company has never at any time come under their registration. The first story was published on ZimEye.com Friday night.

Mnangagwa Won’t Block WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter

Government will not interfere with Internet connectivity or sanction illicit monitoring of citizens’ private communication over the election period, a Cabinet minister has said.

In line with Government’s new approach of promoting individual freedoms, the use of Internet will be promoted to facilitate communication.
Industry regulator, Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) will soon begin an aggressive public awareness programme to promote responsible use of internet-based communication platforms, including social media.

Internet shutdowns have been used in several jurisdictions as governments grappled with the rising tide of fake news.

However, Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Cyber Security Minister Mr Supa Mandiwanzira told The Sunday Mail last week that Government does not have an appetite to interfere with social media freedoms.

Section 61 of the Constitution guarantees freedom of expression.
He said President Mnangagwa, who is an active participant on social media, is serious about promoting individual freedoms.

He, however, cautioned against fake news and stories that needlessly cause alarm and despondency, especially on the new media platforms.
“We have no intention to curtail Internet freedom or social media freedoms simply because there is an election.

“The Government values the various platforms that Zimbabweans use to share ideas and express their opinions and therefore, don’t expect us to do anything that undermines those platforms,” said Mr Mandiwanzira.

“However, we are encouraging people to use those platforms responsibly. Avoid spreading fake news and causing unnecessary grief and pain to other people.

“The President is very serious about promoting individual freedoms and is not in any way prepared to curtail people’s access to the Internet during and after the election period.

“The President himself is an active participant on social media, including Facebook and Twitter, where he personally engages with citizens and updates them on Government programmes.

“We see no need to curtail the freedoms that come with Internet access. We are in fact promoting the use of technology as a means of facilitating development.
“Our ministry is working hard to ensure that every citizen can have access to the Internet in future,” he said.

President Mnangagwa routinely uses social media to interact with Zimbabweans from around the world.

As of yesterday, he had over 320 000 followers on Facebook and 130 000 followers on Twitter.
He has also been actively encouraging Zanu-PF’s supporters to aggressively promote the party’s policies on social media.

Last week, Potraz director-general Dr Gift Kallisto Machengete told The Sunday Mail that the regulator’s primary role is to raise awareness on responsible use of new technologies.

“Election time is a volatile period in which abuse of the Internet and social media is highly likely,” said Dr Machengete.
“Potraz’s primary role during this period is to continuously raise awareness and educate consumers through various platforms on the importance of responsible use of the Internet and social media.

“Potraz will also intensify its collaboration with law enforcement agencies, especially the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), in facilitating prosecution of offences under Section 88 of the Postal and Telecommunications Act [Chapter 12:05] in relation to abuse of telephony, which includes the Internet and, by extension, the social media.

“Currently, the authority is conducting road shows interfacing with consumers, teaching them about their rights, and discouraging them from abusing social media.

“We are also carrying out consumer education and awareness campaigns to sensitise subscribers on their obligations in terms of responsible use of social media.

“The long-term plan, however, is to try and catch them young through our Child Online Protection Framework and intervene from kindergarten level, to inculcate the culture of responsible use of the cyber space at that level, right through to tertiary level.”

Government is presently crafting a legal instrument to regulate the abuse of the Internet, particularly social media, and promote indigenous social online applications and locally developed social media platforms.

Other African countries have similar laws to regulate the use of social media platforms.
Last month, Kenya enacted a law criminalising cybercrimes such as fake news, cyber-bullying and cyber-espionage.

The law provides for fines and prison sentences for 17 listed offences, including child pornography, unauthorised access, illegal devices and computer forgery. – state media

Makandiwa Says I Never Received $1mln Tithes

Police Warrant Of Arrest For Makamba Still LIVE 13 yrs Later

Businessman Mr James Makamba still has a warrant of arrest hanging around his neck — 13 years after skipping the border over externalisation charges.

The Sunday Mail established that the Harare magistrates’ court issued a warrant of arrest for Mr Makamba on August 31, 2005.
The Empowerment Corporation chair had failed to attend court to answer six counts of violating the Exchange Control Act.

Mr Makamba fled the country in 2005 and hibernated in South Africa for over a decade, only to resurface in December 2017.

A former Zanu-PF central committee member, Mr Makamba has vast business interests in telecommunications, agriculture, retail, mining and digital publishing.
The businessman has not been cleared of illegally dealing in foreign currency under case number CRB 12678-81/04.

Approached for comment, Mr Makamba declined to discuss the matter.
“I have been misquoted a lot of times and I am not ready to comment over the phone. I prefer face to face,” he said.
However, Mr Makamba could not commit to any meeting.
This comes amidst a fierce fight over the control of Empowerment Corporation (EC), which has a 40 percent stake in Telecel Zimbabwe. Mr Makamba is still referring himself as Telecel chair by virtue of his shares in the EC, even though he reportedly sold his stake. EC was set up in 1998 to ensure locals had a stake in the telecommunications business and this saw various local organisations such as Mr Makamba’s Kestrel Corporation, Dr Jane Mutasa’s Selphon Investments, Magamba eChimurenga, Integrated Engineering Group, National Miners Association and the Zimbabwe Farmers Union, getting shares.

Mr Makamba sparked a fight last month after writing to Telecel Zimbabwe chief executive officer, Mrs Angeline Vere, announcing the withdrawal of lawyer Mr Gerald Mlotshwa as a Telecel Zimbabwe director.

Mr Mlotshwa’s lawyers — Mushoriwa Pasi Corporate Attorneys — have since wrote back to Mr Makamba and Telecel, disputing the move to remove their client from the company board of directors.

Mr Makamba wrote to Mrs Vere purporting that EC directors had met and resolved to get rid of Mr Mlotshwa.

However, EC company secretary Mr Chemunofira Caston Chikosi, in a sworn affidavit, shot down M0r Makamba’s claim that EC directors met.

“I am aware of the sale of the Kestrel Corporation Limited shares to George Manyere and Gerald Mlotshwa. I confirm that I was instructed by Dr Makamba to prepare and update financial statements of Empowerment Corporation (Private) Limited in light of this transaction,” he said.

“I have seen minutes or extracts of minutes of a meeting purportedly by Mr Makamba and Dr (Jane) Mutasa in or around the 16th of May 2018.
“However, as company secretary, I am not aware of any such meeting and cannot authenticate these minutes or extract thereof.”

Recently, Mr Makamba was dragged to court by Mr Manyere over a $2,7 million debt, which Mr Mlotshwa had initially undertook to take over on condition that the EC chair transfers equivalent shares to him.

The Sunday Mail Business gleaned EC meeting minutes dated February 9, 2017, which confirm that Mr Makamba’s Krestel had ceded its shares in EC to Mr Mlotshwa over a debt owed to Mr Manyere.
In part, the minutes read: “It was noted that negotiations for the disposal of Krestel’s shares, after the Brainworks acquisition had been taken into account, had been ongoing for a number of months between Mr Makamba and Mr Mlotshwa.

“It was agreed and resolved that the parties conclude the necessary sale and purchase agreements (SPA) in respect of the disposal. It was emphasised that fair and actual consideration would need to be paid for these shares by Mr Mlotshwa.

“The lawyers retained by Mr Manyere for the MHMK Group acquition of Krestel’s shares would also be returned for the purposes of concluding the disposal to Mr Mlotshwa of Krestel’s remaining 30.25 percent in EC.” -state media

LIVE – Exposing Funeral Fraud – Madzimai Akatendeka Investigated

NATIONAL, BUSINESS, BREAKING

ZimEye.com has begun investigating the activities of a UK based funeral scheme running by the name Madzimai Akatendeka. This series of articles and programs are set to run for the next few weeks.

While the organisation has been praised by some in the Zimbabwean community, the Board Of Directors have been spotted on various occasions living a lavish lifestyle that has raised eyebrows.

All this also comes after the board leadership made fraudulent claims that the organisation is registered and regulated by the British Financial Conduct Authority.

Evidence at hand points that Madzimai Akatendeka is not at all FCA registered, let alone regulated by the FCA.

Contacted by ZimEye.com, the founding Director Fungai Maruta was asked- you claimed that you are registered with the Financial Conduct Authority, are you truly registered with the FCA?

“Yes we are registered with the FCA,” she said.

When told that the FCA has revealed the organisation is not at all registered, she responded saying,”I don’t want to answer you now but you will see me in court if you want to find out that we are registered with the FCA.”

“Mnangagwa’s Munhumutapa Offices No Go Area For Electoral Reforms Protesters”: Obert Mpofu

Home Affairs Minister Obert Mpofu has warned the MDC Alliance against taking their protest to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Munhumutapa offices in Harare when they hold their demonstration over electoral reforms on June 5 2018.

Mpofu said the protestors must stay away from President Mnangagwa’s offices if their demonstration is indeed peaceful.

The Home Affairs minister’s comments come amid indications by the MDC Alliance that the coalition of opposition political parties was upping their calls for electoral reforms following the proclamation of July 30 as the election date.

Tendai Biti, last week told journalists during a press conference at Morgan Tsvangirai House in Harare that MDC Alliance protesters will first gather at Africa Unity Square, before marching to ZEC offices where they will present a document and then proceed to Munhumutapa building.

Speaking to an online publication, Mpofu warned MDC Alliance that their march cannot be labelled as peaceful if they march to Munhumutapa building.

“We have clearly stated that we will not tolerate any undue behaviour from any quota while we prepare for the elections.

How can a demonstration that is targeting the Head of State’s office be said to be peaceful? If it is true that they want to march to the president’s office, that cannot be viewed as peaceful and we appeal to them not to do that. It’s time for campaigns and they should actually do their organisation in a peaceful manner,” said Mpofu.

BREAKING: Prof Jonso Endorses Chamisa

Professor Jonathan Moyo

By Own Correspondent| Self exiled Professor Jonathan Moyo has thrown his weight behind MDC Alliance Presidential candidate, Nelson Chamisa calling on Zimbabweans to unite and vote President Emmerson Mnangagwa out of office come July 30 2018.

In a tweet, Professor Moyo, whose whereabouts remain a mystery,  said if Blessing Chebundo managed to defeat President Mnangagwa during the 2000 and 2005 polls for the Kwekwe constituency parliamentary race, Zimbabweans can do it again for a Chamisa victory.

“If a united Kwekwe did it not only once but twice to vote out Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe can also unite under one grand coalition and do a big Kwekwe on Mnangagwa under Nelson Chamisa,” tweeted Professor Moyo.

Gukurahundi Play Leaves Harare In Tears

“1983 The Dark Years” cast

By Paul Nyathi
|An hour long theatre play by Gwanda based Jahunda Community Arts has left Harare theatre lovers in tears and stunned on what the 1980s Gukurahundi atrocities were all about.

The very emotional piece of theatre which has been running at the Theatre In The Park for six nights ended on Sunday night with scores of people left shell shocked at how brutal the Gukurahundi soldiers were on the people of Matabeleland and parts of the midlands province.

Titled “1983 The Dark Years” the play directed by Adrian Mossa featuring Kukhanya Mkandla and highly touching Proficiency Kadder depicts a story told to a young girl born out of Gukurahundi rape by her uncle.

The play which has not only seen some in the audience breakdown into tears at one stage on Friday also saw Kadder herself a cast uncontrollably weep on stage as Mkandla narrated how the Gukurahundi soldiers raped “her mother” before she committed suicide after giving birth to the Gukurahundi child.

“During the performance you have that free-thinking (attitude) and start to visualise what you heard. Even if you were not there, the real pain comes through imagination, so you don’t need to have been there. It actually hurts. It’s too much and I can’t explain it,” said Kadder in an interview with journalists after the show.

“It’s something that is intense and gruesome. Actually, these things were not spoken about. We just have vivid pictures about it. It was gruesome and people are hurting very much.”

Kadder said she was told a lot about the genocidal killings perpetrated by the North-Korean trained 5th Brigade by her parents, who were lucky to survive.

“I cannot be so sure that I lost anyone, but I just heard stories. My parents were affected, but did not die during that time. My father and grandmother were victims.

They told me about what really transpired during that time,” she said.

Mkandhla, who is part of the cast, has his leg chopped off by the soldiers during Gukurandi as part of the script.

He said he was able to connect with his role because his leg was amputated following an accident in which he was hit by a bus in 2013. The part he plays aroused the audience’s emotions.

“Whenever I get to that scene (in the play), I imagine the pain that I felt when my leg was amputated. For somebody else, who hasn’t been through that, it might be difficult to connect with the character. That pain is an added advantage, because I can always tap into it,” he said.

Although some members of the audience said the play seemed to open old wounds than facilitate healing, others said it was good for the purposes of true national reconciliation and healing.

The play’s director Moosa, however, said the play was not meant to provoke anyone, but to create a platform to openly discuss what happened during that dark period of post-independent Zimbabwe.

“This is a theatre piece, which does not bring solutions, but instead it’s meant to create a space, whereby, people will come together and discuss this issue, which has been ignored for quite a long time,” he said.

“We are not saying who must do what, but we are only creating a conducive space for dialoguing. We want people to have dialogue and come up with solutions themselves. Maybe that can help. We are only using theatre to push the agenda not bring solutions ourselves.”

Theatre in the park director Daves Guzha praised the young actors from Gwanda for being brave enough to tell the Gukurahundi story exactly as it happened without fear.

Guzha also told that the play which was premiered in 2012 was banned by the Robert Mugabe regime and had the cast briefly arrested before they were rescued the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights.

Guzha said that the play left many people in Harare with a changed attitude on the Gukurahundi atrocities urging Zimbabweans to begin to speak without fear on the atrocities.

Gukurahundi must be discussed if we are sincere about moving forward as a nation,” said Guzha.

Guzha further advised that the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission had immediately signed a contract with the theatre group to go on a nationwide tour show casing the play so as to educate the whole nation on what exactly transpired during the dark days in the country.

“Some of us were already in our teens during the Gukurahundi time but the government at the time capably managed to hide from all of us what was actually transpiring in the Matabeleland region,” said Guzha.

“Am excited that the NPRC has adopted the play and committed to using it as a lesson throughout the country on exactly what was happening during that period,” he said.

Chamisa in Chiwenga’s area: When A Country is Led By People Who Don’t Know God, Everything Crashes

By Own Correspondent| MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has said that Zimbabwe is struggling because of a cursed leadership.

Speaking during his Hwedza rally on Saturday, Chamisa said, “when a county is led by people who do not know God, things cringe, everything crashes down, the land gets angry, troubles befall our land. The diamond you now hear was finished, is not finished, this is just a curse due to a leader who is not acceptable to God. Things fails.

“Even the gardens fail. Now I hear there is a disease that has hit our land’s cows, do not think that this is a disease, this is simply a curse from the land that has come to the leaders’ conduct. Now this story will not end. What we need to fix are which things?

As for me I have five things. How many things do we have? Five.” WATCH TH VIDEO BELOW :

Zanu Pf MP Takes Rigging Allegations To Parliament

Irene Zindi

By Own Correspondent| Mutasa South legislator Irene Zindi, took her party’s alleged rigging grievances to parliament accussing her main opponent in the just-ended primary elections of manipulating the vote in their favour.

Zindi burst out and made the allegations in response to independent Member of Parliament for Norton Temba Mliswa’s statements where he accused women parliamentarians who are in the august house under the women’s quota of not making any meaningful contribution to parliament.

Mliswa torched a storm when he said the women parliamentarian were only good “at making themselves look presentable but did not make any meaningful contribution to parliament”.

“I want to correct Mliswa, I did not lose but I was rigged.

I am very disappointed. I am a woman, also I am a war veteran,” said a visibly angry Zindi.

She accused her party of disrespecting women.

“I thought my party was going to respect women but to my surprise, the party showed (that) it is the worst in terms of respecting women performance,” she said.

Zanu PF held its primary elections between April 29 and May 3 2018.

However, the elections were marred by controversy and allegations of rigging and violence. The party’s elections directorate ordered for a re-run in 14 constituencies following demonstrations by the party supporters alleging electoral theft.

Zindi was elected Hatfield legislator in 1995 and she was then elected Mutasa South Member of Parliament in 2013.

“Deploy Civil Servants Where They Are Registered Voters”: ZEC

By Own Correspondent| Civil servants deployed to conduct the forthcoming elections must be posted in wards where they are registered voters as a way of ensuring that they are not disenfranchised, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has said.

Addressing a Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI) conference on elections in Bulawayo (Thursday), ZEC Commissioner, Qhubani Moyo called on authorities to ensure that civil servants recruited for the 2018 harmonised elections are deployed in their respective wards to allow them to exercise their right to vote.

“The most ideal thing is that if one is a teacher, she or he is supposed to be deployed in his or her own ward so that they are able to vote.

I suppose this also apply to police officers who are involved in the elections,” he said.

The new biometric voter registration (BVR) system, compels eligible voters to cast their votes at a particular polling station within their wards unlike the previous system which allowed a voter to cast their ballot at any polling station as long as it was within their constituency.

The ZEC hired civil servants including teachers and police officers to assist in the conduct of elections and to provide security before, during and after the election period slated for July 30 2018.

Chamisa Cabinet To Have Only 15 Ministers

NELSON CHAMISA
NELSON CHAMISA
Nelson Chamisa

MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa has said that if elected on 30 July, his cabinet will only have 15 ministers to avoid overburdening the tax-payer.

Chamisa said this while addressing a well-attended rally in Mutoko on Friday.

“We are going to have just 15 ministers in Zimbabwe, that will be enough. I will also make sure that those who steal are not recycled, but are fired from government. My government will not tolerate corrupt and thieving ministers,” Chamisa assured his supporters.

Zimbabwe holds elections on July 30 to choose a President, Members of the House of Assembly, as well as local ward Councillors. The election date was announced in a proclamation made by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday this week.

Chamisa bemoaned the fact that government had become a feeding tough for corrupt politicians.

“Government today has become a feeding trough, only those in power are the ones who are wealthy. The people who are appointed into government become rich overnight, that has to stop. One can’t be a minister, a businessman, a farmer and an employer, just that one person. No! We need to share those roles for effective production and wealth creation.”

He also said his ministers would seek medical treatment in local facilities instead of flying abroad as has been happening with ZANU-PF politicians.

Magaya Drops Yadah FC Causes PSL Confusion

Magaya Prays for his players ahead of a match

THE domestic Premiership could be thrown into chaos after Prophet Walter Magaya withdrew his funding of Yadah Stars on Friday following a sensational fallout with the league’s leadership over the way the club has been crippled by the absence of players on national duty with the Warriors.

The club’s match against Bulawayo City scheduled for Barbourfields today now hangs in the balance after Magaya — who is the sponsor of the team — closed the financial tap that has been oiling the side’s operations in protest over what he believes is unfair treatment by PSL bosses.

But, crucially, the future of the club is now bleak and, in the event Yadah Stars disintegrate, as is now likely, the PSL leaders could be found dealing with a complex situation which could affect the status of the championship race.
For they could be forced to nullify the results of all the 14 matches which the club has played this season.

Championship leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars could lose three points and five goals, FC Platinum could lose three points and two goals, CAPS United could lose three points and two goals while Triangle could also lose three points and two goals.

There could be a one-point loss for Dynamos, after the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw, and there could be a one-point loss, too, for Highlanders after their duel against Yadah ended in a goalless draw at the National Sports Stadium.

The spectacular fallout between the football-mad prophet and the PSL leadership was sparked by the league bosses’ refusal to grant the club a request for the postponement of their league match against Bulawayo City today.
Magaya had argued that his best three players had been lost to national duty.

The crisis started when Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa drafted in defender Jimmy Dzingai, the Yadah captain, as a late replacement for Costa Nhamoinesu who was withdrawn by his Czech club Sparta Prague on medical grounds.

With highly-rated forward Leeroy Mavunga, voted the Premiership’s Rookie of the Year last season, already in the squad for the COSAFA adventure, it meant Yadah now had two players among those who made the trip to South Africa.

However, a third key Yadah player, Byron Madzokere, who had been in camp with the Warriors, was injured while on national duty and the club’s leadership asked the PSL bosses on Thursday for a postponement of their match against Bulawayo City because, they argued, they had lost three players to this national cause.

While Yadah were prepared to fulfil this commitment, had Dzingai remained with them, his last-minute call-up saw them arguing they had lost three players to the same cause and were supposed to be given a choice to call for a postponement of their match.

However, the PSL turned down their pleas and Magaya, who is in South Africa for a three-day crusade, felt the league’s bosses were not sensitive to their plight and decided to take the drastic measures of withdrawing his funding of the club, leaving the team facing an uncertain future.

“I quit…be blessed,” he told The Saturday Herald.

“Ndaneta, this PSL inorwadza, I am telling you. They make money out of us every season and when you ask them to be considerate to your plight they make some funny decisions which impact negatively on the development of clubs and football.

“We wrote a letter to them saying Jimmy had suddenly been taken away from us, Lee was already there with the national team and Byron was injured on this national duty and that means we have three key players whom we have lost because of national duty and we wanted the PSL to postpone our game but they refused.

“Surely, why should we be punished for helping the country? Why should they fix me for supporting the national team not only through the camping facilities, meals and training ground that we provided for the team but also for the players who are now making the grade to play for the country?

“What type of governing is that? What type of organisation is that? Didn’t CAF postpone a Champions League match involving Sundowns recently to ensure that the club finds some space to play Barcelona because just the arrival of this Spanish club here in Africa meant a lot for our football?

“I don’t get any money from sponsoring the team, instead I spend a lot of money but it feels like there are some people in leadership positions who don’t want to see people like us in the game.

“If the team travels to Bulawayo then it’s the supporters taking them there and not me and I pray that ZIFA and (Philip) Chiyangwa use their power to stop this madness because we are destroying the game.

“Last year, they said we were celebrating 25 years of the PSL but did you see any billboard in any town celebrating the players and coaches who helped make the league what it is, of course, there was nothing and you say we are progressing as a league.
“I have always said that my prayer is simple, let’s celebrate those who do something for our country and not only for their stomachs and football is a big part of us as a people.”

Magaya said the PSL leaders were under the illusion that it was easy to sponsor football clubs.
“There is zero benefit in sponsoring local football and all that we have seen are people who used to be rich and powerful going down because of their passion for the game,” said Magaya.

“My passion was to nurture talent and helping some young people to shine. Early this year I said I could not work in such an environment where our efforts are not appreciated but my players refused to join any other club saying they were prepared to go with me to social football.

“And when you consider that these are good players, I felt it was not fair for them and I decided to soldier on.
“These are loyal players, they are not there for the money, they are there just to play the game and I have borrowed heavily to ensure we soldier on, especially during the time when I was building the factory which drained a lot from me.

“But some people at PSL seem not happy with our presence and better to leave them to do as they please because, maybe, they don’t want clubs that are run by individuals anymore in the league, they don’t want CAPS, they don’t want us.”

He said he remains hurt that Gwanzura and Chibuku, which he tried to refurbish only for his proposals to be rejected, had turned into ghost stadiums.

MDC-T Blocks Chief From Contesting As ZANU PF Candidate

Zimbabwean Chiefs barred from politics

By Paul Nyathi|MDC-T  candidate for Shamva South constituency, Leman Pwanyiwa has made an urgent court application asking the High Court to block ZANU PF from fielding acting Chief Bushu, Bramwell Bushu as their candidate in the upcoming elections.

Pwanyiwa who is represented by the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights submitted the application at the High Court on Friday.

According to the court papers, Bushu can not be allowed to take part in the elections as the law in Zimbabwe prohibits traditional leaders from taking part in partisan politics.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and ZANU PF are quoted as the respondents in the case which is yet to be heard by the court.

Pwanyiwa initially wrote a letter to President Emmerson Mnangagwa calling on him as First Secretary of the party to remove the chief from contesting elections.

The letter dated May 29 and addressed to Mnangagwa through the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, Pwanyiwa threatened to file an urgent chamber application for relief should he get no response by May 31.

He said Bushu, who has been Chief Bushu since June 2016 after the demise of his father Show Bushu, had contested in the ruling party’s primary elections on April 29 and in the re-run on May 14, adding that his candidature and membership of Zanu PF was in clear violation of Section 281-2- of the Constitution.

The section prohibits traditional leaders from being members of political parties or participating in party politics, acting in a partisan manner or further the interests of any political party or cause.

“We direct, therefore, that Bramwell Bushu be removed as your candidate for the forthcoming harmonized elections and his membership from your party be revoked,” he said

Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights said Bushu’s actions were prejudicial to their client who was an interested party in the politics of the country.

“This also takes away the right to free and fair elections guaranteed to every member of the public by section 67 of the Constitution,” read the letter, referenced NMC/PIL/18.

Early this month, the High Court in Masvingo ruled against the meddling in partisan politics by traditional leaders after opposition political party leader, Elton Mangoma had approached the court seeking the banning of all traditional leaders from meddling in politics.

Mangoma’s legal challenge came after National Chiefs Council head, Fortune Charumbira, pledged the organization’s support for ZANU-PF after the traditional leaders had received top of the range vehicles from President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Aspiring Independent Councilor Pulls Out Of Election Race: Throws Weight Behind Chamisa

By Own Correspondent| Aspiring independent councilor for  Ward 7, Goromonzi West has thrown in the towel in a move aimed at supporting the MDC Alliance council candidate ahead of the 2018 harmonised polls.

Kudakwashe Andrew Manjonjo, who had declared his intentions to run for political office in the July 30 elections as an independent candidate revealed on a facebook post that he was putting his weight behind the MDC T candidate for Ward 17, Tough Mupindu in order to put up a united front against Zanu Pf.

“Even though opposition has failed to unite as one voice in this election, in my ward we have.

That is why i have made the difficult but positive decision to no longer run in this election and endorse my fellow MDC-T comrade, Tough Mupindu,” he said.

Below is the full text of his message revealing why he is pulling out of the election race.

STEPPING DOWN AS CANDIDATE FOR GOROMONZI WEST WARD 7 CANDIDATE.

When I started my campaign for Councillor I was clear in my belief that a Grand Coalition was the best way Zimbabwe could progress in the upcoming elections.
That has clearly failed over the last 9 months much to my disappointment.

However, three clear candidates have risen in my ward, myself, the MDC-T and ZANU PF candidate.

Even though opposition has failed to unite as one voice in this election in my ward we have. That is why i have made the difficult but positive decision to no longer run in this election and endorse my fellow MDC-T comrade, Tough Mupindu.

We are of the same age and he was like me in student activism. An educated fellow, we share similar ideological and policy ideas for my ward. I do believe together we can end the 38 year rule of ZANU PF in my ward who have never received less than 80% of the vote every election.

We have been in discussions with community leaders over this decision over the last month and a good number agree there is strength in our unity as a youthful vanguard.

Thank to you to all who have supported me politically, spiritually and financially. I hope at the very least you understand why I have made this decision. Its been an epic journey which I have learnt alot from.

It was never meant to be just about me but about changing ZIMBABWE for the better. Let us be ready for vote for a different future on July 30.

Thank you.

Doctors Authorised Mugoni To Thank Mnangagwa But Not To Slogan And Cry

Dr Mugoni mourning at Mnangagwa rally

By Paul Nyathi|The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association actually authorised their Secretary-General Dr P Mugoni to speak at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s youth interface rally in Gweru a source has revealed to ZimEye.com.

The source from within the doctors Association told ZimEye.com in confidence on Friday that the Association leadership was invited to the rally after it had written an official letter to Mnangagwa thanking the President for attending to their grievances.

“Its unfortunate that our collegue collapsed to the pressure at the rally and made the public drama but the Association was indeed aware of the invitation to speak at the rally,” said the source.

According to him the Association actually wrote a letter to Mnangagwa two days before the rally thanking him for attending to their grievances and asking for a meeting with the President resulting in the invitation to speak at the rally.

The letter to Mnangagwa dated the 31st of May 2018 provided to ZimEye.com by the source reads as follows in full:

The President of Zimbabwe
His Excellency, Cde E.D Munangagwa

Dear Sir

RE: APPRECIATION FROM DOCTORS AND OUTSTANDING GRIEVANCES

The above subject matter refers.

The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) hereby commends the action you took to resolve the deadlock between doctors and the employer in March this year.

The assurance that procurement of drugs and equipment was ongoing, and the raise in our allowances have
gone a long way in improving health care delivery. Moreover, we have seen some hospitals receiving these drugs over the past two months, and we hope this continues until we reach regional standards.

We would like to bring to your attention some of the outstanding issues that we believe, through your executive powers, can be resolved. Some government representatives have avoided our calls for a
meeting for eight (8) weeks, and we feel your intervention will go a long way. Moreover, we have other issues that can only be addressed by you as the President.

The issues are as follows:

1. Vehicle loan scheme – government allocated $10million to doctors to purchase vehicles for easy travel to attend to emergencies. This money has not materialised since March, and our request
for a meeting over this has been ignored. We have requested that CMED be the guarantor, and ZHDA choose the beneficiaries for the first batch, and so on as this is a revolving fund.

2. Our members are hereby requesting to be allocated land for housing, farms and mining. We already have memorandums of understanding with certain property developers and we believe this non-cash incentive will retain our doctors and keep the morale high.

3. Doctors have also previously requested that we have regular meetings with the employer to
discuss pressing issues, but this has not been responded to. Furthermore, on-call allowances that
were agreed upon were only paid for a month, then cut by margins of $190 and above. This has caused unrest amongst our members, and we have since communicated this to the Health Services Board

4. ZHDA would like to embark on outreaches to rural and disadvantaged areas, in an effort to provide health care for all. We are a non-profit organization, and lack adequate funding and material to do so.

In a nutshell, we would like to do outreaches on weekends, and require transport, food,
stethoscopes, BP machines, basic drugs and stationery. A more detailed document will be availed to you, should Your Excellency approve.

We hope to continue working well with your office, and hope you will continue to extend your goodwill to our association and subsequently, the people of Zimbabwe.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

ZHDA NATIONAL EXECUTIVE

Chamisa Challenges Mnangagwa To A Public Debate

NELSON CHAMISA
President Emmerson Mnangagwa

By Paul Nyathi|Opposition MDC Alliance coalition presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa has challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to open up the national broadcaster the ZBC to open up and allow for a public debate ahead of the harmonised elections set for July 30.

Speaking on the opposition party”s electoral reforms demonstration set for the capital on Tuesday, Chamisa said that President Mnangagwa is not prepared to open up the airwaves because he knows that he will not survive an open public debate against him.

“Our planned demonstration is a demand for electoral reforms which will pave way for free and fair elections,” said Chamisa in his official Twitter page.

“We can’t speak of a free and fair election when Zanu PF abuses and monopolises ZBC,”

“Mnangagwa knows he would not survive a week of free and factual speech,” said Chamisa.

President Mnangagwa is on record declaring that the ZBC will only open up for private players after the 2018 elections.

The opposition MDC Alliance has organised a mass demonstration to be held in Harare on Tuesday against failures to effect full electoral reforms in the recently gazetted Electoral Act amendments.

The demonstration to be led by Chamisa will present a petition to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and another to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Schools To Close Early For Elections

Professor Paul Mavhima

By Paul Nyathi|Zimbabwe schools may have an early second term break to allow for the harmonised elections to take place.

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Paul Mavhima hinted in Bulawayo on Friday that the school term scheduled to end on the 9th of August May be forced to end two weeks earlier to make way for the national elections set for July 30.

Most schools will be used as polling stations while teachers and other staff employed by the Ministry of Education will be part of the personnel running the elections.

The Ministry is expected to release an official statement to the effect within the next few days.

He scoffed at the wearing of Lacoste regalia with Mnangagwa’s picture on them.

57 Magistrates Appointed for Elections

LUKE MALABA

State Media- In a move meant to ensure fair, peaceful and credible elections, Chief Justice Luke Malaba has designated 57 magistrates to expeditiously handle cases of politically-motivated violence and intimidation in the country’s 10 provinces.

A special court was gazetted under General Notice 379 of 2018 with a view to ensure the nation of a free, fair and credible 2018 election. This year’s harmonised elections will be held on July 30.
According to the notice issued by the judiciary boss, who is also chairman of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), the courts sit during the pre-election, election and the post-election period.
“It is hereby declared that the Judicial Service Commission, in terms of Section 133 J(3) of the Electoral Act (Chapter 2:13), has designated the magistrates listed in the schedule below to try cases of politically motivated violence and intimidation in the provinces under which their names appear before, during and after the harmonised elections for President, Members of the National Assembly, Senators and Councillors scheduled to take place on Monday 30th July 2018,” said Chief Justice Malaba in the Gazette.

JSC acting secretary Mr Walter Chikwana said the special courts would expeditiously deal with all cases brought before them.

“The special courts were established in compliance with the Electoral Amendment Act,” he said. “Such courts will try and finalise criminal cases brought before them with expedience.
“The setting up of the courts, according to the law, follows the proclamation of the election date by the President.”

The recently signed Electoral Amendment Act prohibits politically motivated violence and intimidation.
Part of the Act reads:
“No political party or any of its members or supporters and no candidate, any of his or her supporters and no stakeholders may —
a) Use violence or threaten violence or incite or encourage the use of violence, against anyone on account of his or her political opinions or membership or support of a political party or participation in the election;
b) Intimidate, or incite or encourage the intimidation of anyone on account of his or her political opinions or membership or support of a political party or act in a way that may provoke violence or intimidation.”

The Act also prohibits the use of violence or threats to force others to refrain from voting for a candidate of their choice.

It also prohibits forcing people to vote for a candidate they do not like.
Bribing an election official to induce him or her to make a false entry in the voters’ roll or to alter election results will attract a penalty.

Use of hate language which incites violence through songs, speeches and slogans is also prohibited.
Publishing false or defamatory allegations about a party or its candidates is also not allowed under the Act.

Carrying weapons at political meetings, marches, demonstrations or rallies is prohibited.

Schools To Close Early For Elections

Minister Mavima
Government yesterday hinted on schools closing early for the second term to accommodate harmonised elections scheduled for July 30.
The schools opened on May 8 for the Second Term and are supposed to close on August 9.
In an interview on the sidelines of the official opening of Bulawayo Book Fair, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Professor Paul Mavima said elections have a disruptive impact on schools.

The book fair was attended by educationists, school heads, publishers and booksellers.
Minister Mavima said he will seek an approval for an early closure of schools at the next Cabinet meeting.

President Mnangagwa on Wednesday proclaimed July 30, 2018 as the country’s harmonised election date.

“We know that it will be disruptive for elections to run when schools are open. This is something that we are going to present to Cabinet. Maybe we can close schools a week or so before elections since most of our schools are polling stations,” said Prof Mavima.
He said the Ministry will find a way of compensating learners for the lost learning time.
“We will deal with that in an administrative way. Our Permanent Secretary (Dr Sylvia Utete-Masango) will be working on that. We may close a week before the elections and then work out how we can compensate the pupils for the lost time,” he said.

Many teachers are likely to be engaged as polling officers which again will disrupt the pupils’ learning. “In the event the schools close early, they will have to open early for the Third Term to compensate for the lost time.” – state media

ED’s Crying Doctor Suspended

The Council of former NEC members of the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association has noted with great concern the recent developments pertaining to the meddling of ZHDA office bearers in activities of political parties. Specifically, we note the indecorous conduct and utterances made by Dr P Mugoni at a ZANU PFrally in Gweru where he conflated his political opinions and those of all government-employed doctors.

Whilst we acknowledge the said doctor right to freedom of assembly, speech and association we are enraged by the politicization of the ZHDA. The ZHDA is a professional body that represents the interests of all government-employed doctors regardless of political party affiliation. We join Zimbabweans across the country who have in their different forums deplored such conduct and strongly encourage the present leadership at the ZHDA to immediately take stern disciplinary measures against Dr P Mugoni.

To restore the confidence of the members of the ZHDA we advise you suspend, investigate and if found guilty discipline Dr P Mugoni for bringing the association name and its entire brand into disrepute. As pastleaders of the ZHDA, we dissociate ourselves from such conduct and advise the current ZHDA to develop a code of conduct that guides the actions of its office bearers and members to avoid a repeat of such episodes in future. ZHDA is founded on firm principles of representation and should at all times remain apolitical!

We will be following up with your esteemed office soon to hear of the latest developments.

Chamisa Wins As UK Tells Mnangagwa No Commonwealth Access Unless You Hold Free And Fair 2018 Elections

“The step on that journey to re-join the Commonwealth will be the election you will have in July.”

The United Kingdom has told president Emmerson Mnangagwa his administration will only be accepted into the Commonwealth after conducting free and fair elections.

The bold message was conveyed soon after a meeting between thee government and two British MPs who last month had met MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa.

One of them works for Britain’s most influential official, the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.

While the state media claimed that the MPs spoke positively about the upcoming elections, the sharp message from the UK government is that there will not be acceptance into the Commonwealth if Mnangagwa does not hold free and fair elections.

British Labour Party Member of Parliament Ms Kate Hoey and Conservative Party Member of Parliament Mr Cornor Burns personally met Mnangagwa at his Munhumutapa Offices.

Ms Hoey is also chairperson of All-Party Parliamentary Group on Zimbabwe while Mr Burns is a parliamentary private secretary to Mr Boris Johnson, who is a Member of Parliament and British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs.

Ms Hoey described the meeting with President Mnangagwa as fruitful.

“We had a very interesting and useful meeting,” she said.

Ms Hoey said they were in the country to look at how election processes were going and hear about the issues Zimbabwe had raised with Britain.

“We want to hear about issues raised with us,” she said. “I think we find it to be the most useful visit. We are hoping very much that you are going to have a free and fair election and that we can really start to re-engage with Zimbabwe again as British Parliament and British government.

“I think we would all like to see a successful election and we can do what we can to make sure that it is monitored properly. We are pleased by that. I have been here a number of times and I have seen a number of changes which I welcome already.”

Ms Hoey said elections would not be possibly free and fair if they had witnessed violence like what happened with previous polls.
She warned political leaders to be wary of soft violence.

Ms Hoey said President Mnangagwa had assured them of a credible election.

Mr Burns said the British government welcomed Harare’s intention to re-apply for membership of Commonwealth, saying the move was a powerful signal to the world about the change in the country.

“It is a very important journey,” said Mr Burns, who is visiting Zimbabwe for the first time. “The step on that journey to re-join the Commonwealth will be the election you will have in July.

“We welcome the commitment by the President that elections will be free and fair. We also welcome the Government position to invite international observers from all over the world, from different organisations and countries to come and see that process.

“We would love you back in the Commonwealth. It will be very good for Zimbabwe, it is very good for the Commonwealth.”

Ms Hoey and Mr Burns would be in the country for a few days and they are expected to travel to Bulawayo today where they will also meet other political players, civil society, churches and organisations, as well as talking to people in the streets.

Mr Burns paid tribute to the people of Zimbabwe for their hospitality saying they had so far met a number of schoolchildren.

“They were neat and tidy and incredibly polite when we were speaking to them as we were going around. They are a great tribute and a great hope for the future of this country.”

President Mnangagwa this week proclaimed July 30 as the date for harmonised elections to choose the President, National Assembly members and councillors.

He also fixed September 8, 2018 as the date for the Presidential election run-off if it becomes necessary while the nomination court will seat on June 14.

Donald Trump Lies 35 Times During One Single Rally – CNN

The top American broadcaster, CNN says the US President Donald Trump has lied on several things during his rally speech.

The editorial article begins with the line that states that: “All politicians exaggerate. All politicians hedge facts to suit their arguments. But practically no politician has ever stretched the truth to — and past — the point of breaking more than President Donald Trump.”

The Washington Post’s Fact Checker says, Trump has said more than 3,200 partially or totally inaccurate things in his first 497 days in office. That’s 6.5 mistruths a day; every day.

The CNN editor says during Trump’s campaign rally for Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s Tennessee Senate campaign on Tuesday night, Trump said 35 things that weren’t true. 35! (I went through that speech line by line.) READ MORE ON IT HERE…

Jonso Spills The Beans, Claims: Mnangagwa Has Blown Money Hiring 30 Planes Carrying 4200 Tonnes Regalia

The exiled Professor Jonathan Moyo has claimed that President Mnangagwa’s leadership has blown money flying 30 jets to import 4,200 tonnes of regalia. He wrote, ” 1/2 Through the govt & at public expense, as did Abel Muzorewa in 1980, Zanu PF’s HURAYADZO election campaign is busy air freighting (duty free) regalia (in the process smuggling other goods) whose payload is 4,200 tonnes using 30 cargo planes, each with a payload of 140 tonnes!

“2/2 In 2013 Zanu PF used 7 cargo planes, each with a payload capacity of 140 tonnes, to air freight 980 tonnes of election regalia. The 4,200 tonnes of regalia being air freighted by 30 cargo planes for the 2018 poll is unprecedented; even by the senseless HURUYADZO standards!”

“Zanu PF is the Only Democratic Party,” Boasts Mnangagwa – Nonsense, You’re Yet To Hold Free Elections

indepth...Wilbert Mukori

By Wilbert Mukori| The contemptuous arrogance of President Mnangagwa is soaring to new dizzying heights!

“Mnangagwa says Zanu-PF is the only demo

indepth…Wilbert Mukori

cratic party!” screamed the headline.

“PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday thousands of ruling party supporters at a Zanu-PF youth convention in Gweru that Zanu-PF was the only democratic party in the country that allowed people to freely choose their candidates without any form of coercion,” said the report.

How many “democratic” parties in history does President Mnangagwa know of that have to resort to “a military assisted transition”, known to everyone else other that the Zanu PF coup plotters simply as a military coup, to remove its leader?

Zanu PF is using coercion to win these elections. The party has paid the Chiefs their bribe, a new twin cab truck each, and the other traditional leaders to coerce rural voters to attend Zanu PF rallies and, ultimately, vote for the party. It has deployed Chris Mutsvangwa’s rogue war veterans backed up by 5 000 Army personal to campaign for the party, reminding the populous that the violence that swept the nations in 2008 will return if Zanu PF should lose these elections.

Zanu PF is not using blatant violence this year, preferring to rely on its reputation as a party of ruthless thugs. This is operation harvest fear! “Kurova imbwa wakaviga mupini!” as the Shona would say.

President Mnangagwa and his coup putsch know their regime is illegitimate by virtue of having seized power unconstitutionally. They had no choice but to promise to hold free, fair and credible elections (promising is one thing delivering is another) just to take the sting out of those who were going to demand action to be taken again the regime. Using blatant violence would have been a dead give-away for one claiming the elections are free and fair.

There five basic reasons why Zanu PF has decided to put its thugs on even shorter leashes this year than in 2013:

1) The people were very pleased to see the back of Robert Mugabe and to be saved from the nightmare of having his erratic and scatter brain wife’s taking over; they hugged and kissed the coup plotters for the deliverance. President Mnangagwa and his junta have milked their new found heroism for all its worth and hope this will propel them to electoral victory. The truth is the people have a very short and selective memory; a serious fault with equally serious disastrous consequences.

Mnangagwa and his junta are the individuals who are responsible for imposing Zanu PF and Mugabe on the nation for the 37 years of the tyrant’s long stay in power. It was Mnangagwa and his junta thugs who have carried out the bulk of the vote rigging, looting and wanton violence to establish and retain the Zanu PF dictatorship. It is common knowledge that it was the junta who forced Mugabe to stay in power after his heavy defeat in the 2008 elections and they then carried out all the blatant cheating and violence that followed.

Emmerson Mnangagwa, Perence Shiri, Constantino Chiwenga and all the other Zanu PF thugs have shed the blood of the over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans murdered in Zanu PF’s 38 years reign of terror. Shine the light of justice on them and they will glow like scorpions under ultra-violet light!

Contrary to junta’s propaganda spin portraying the November coup as a fight to save the nation from “state capture and to remove criminal elements” from Zanu PF. The coup was about wrestling political power from Mugabe and giving it back to the junta, who are the heart and soul of the Joint Operation Command, the shadowy junta and the real power behind Mugabe all these years!

In their myopic “Mugabe must go!” fixation the people have mistaken the demise of the dictator as the end of both the dictator and the Zanu PF dictatorship. Mnangagwa and the junta are only too glad for the chance to masquerade as “new dispensation”, even “the only democratic party”. When the people finally open their eyes and see that the corruption, the vote rigging, etc. has not ended and the party’s new-found popularity start to wane the junta will revert to its tried and tested ways to retain power.

The removal of Mugabe was no more than a black mamba shedding its old skin. Just because Zanu PF has not used it hallmark wanton violence does not mean it has lost its black mamba fangs and venom!

2) The junta has inherited the Zanu PF dictatorship complete with its control of State institutions such as ZEC and the security services and therefore the carte blanche powers to rig elections. In the 2013 elections, Zanu PF showed that the party could use other subtle vote rigging schemes, other than using violence, and had the great fortune of have the unfettered access to public resources and the billions of dollars of looted public wealth to bankroll its schemes.

The junta has promised free and fair elections but has pointedly refused to implement any meaningful democratic reforms designed to end the party’s influence and control of ZEC, Army, public media, etc. The junta has certainly toned down on the use of blatant violence and it is hoping the nation and the international elections observers will consider this sufficient for the elections to be judged free and fair.

3) President Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is open for business!” call was a welcome reassurance. With the country’s economy is such a mess that unemployment had soared to 90%, ¾ of the people lived on US$1.00 or less a day, etc.; it was wonderful to hear a political leader putting economic recovery firmly on his national agenda. Many Zimbabwean voters are willing to vote for the junta just to give “ED a chance!” But once again, the people’s short and selective memory is playing tricks on them.

The people are forgetting that Mnangagwa and his whole team have been senior members of the Zanu PF governments all these last 38 years; why did they do nothing to stop the country going to the dogs, if they are as competent as they now claim to be. Worse still, the junta’s “Zimbabwe is open for business!” has already failed to attract the flood of foreign investors.

Investors are shrewd lot, they have looked ED in the eyes and they saw the same old Zanu PF thug of yesteryears who is claiming to be a democrat, to con the naïve and gullible! Zimbabwe is still a pariah state ruled by corrupt and vote rigging thugs; investors do not do business with thugs!

4) Zanu PF has suffered greatly from the time the party booting out of former VP Joice Mujuru and her supporters to the dramatic events of last year’s coup throwing out Robert Mugabe and the G40 members. The party has fractured and imploded. The only reason the party is still here is that it is a party of thugs whose only true allegiance is to whoever is in a position to give them power and wealth. For the time being, Mnangagwa and his junta has emerged as the powerful faction and as long as the junta is able to feed the insatiable appetite for power and wealth of the party members – an impossible task given the ever worsen economic situation – there will be peace in the party.

The junta is hoping the truce in the party last throughout the elections and not result in another 2008 “Bhora musango!” in which Mujuru supporters voted for Zanu PF parliamentary candidates but voted for MDC presidential candidate.

5) Ever since the GNU, Zanu PF has never been more susceptible to pressure to abandon its dictatorial powers than it is now. The party has just imploded, members know the truce following the coup will not last long, the air is heavy with mistrust and intrigue. The junta promised free, fair and credible elections with no intention of keeping that promise, even with the present favourable political environment the junta was not going to risk losing power by holding free and fair elections.

Lucky for the junta, the opposition is fractured and there is confusion and pandemonium in their camp. The opposition is not only unable to take advantage of Zanu PF’s vulnerability, but they are so disorganised and incompetent the opposition presidential candidate, Nelson Chamisa, is making Emmerson Mnangagwa look “mature, responsible and wise,” as the BBC HardTalk presenter aptly put it.

Ever since this nation started talking of the need for democratic change in the late 1990s the nation’s priority was to dismantle the de facto one-party, Zanu PF, dictatorship. By refusing to implement any democratic reforms, President Mnangagwa has just proven beyond all reasonable doubt that although the dictator, Mugabe, has gone the obnoxious dictatorship itself is still very much alive and continues to rule the roast! These elections must therefore be about rejecting Zanu PF and thus finally deliver the democratic changes the nation has been dying for all these years!

The people should not be fooled by this year’s relatively peaceful elections into believing Zanu PF is now a democratic party, it would have implemented the reforms and given up its dictatorial powers if it was. Many of the things that made it easy for the junta to tone down on the need for blatant violence to win the elections this year will not be there in future elections and the regime will revert back using violence.

As long as we have done nothing to dismantle the dictatorship the will be no hope of holding free, fair and credible elections!

Compared to the nightmare elections of 2008, all the junta has done is rollback on the naked violence; and for that we, the electorate, are expected be impressed and show our gratitude by voting for President Mnangagwa and his junta on 30 July. But just to be absolutely certain Zanu PF wins with the usual landslide victory the party has retained all its other vote rigging powers – no public media, no verified voters’ roll, etc.

“Zanu PF is the only democratic party!” roared President Mnangagwa. Yeah right! The only democratic party yet to hold free, fair and credible elections after 38 years of rigged elections!

Warriors Likely To Clash With Botswana Zebras

Botswana National Soccer team the Zebras

Zimbabwe Warriors Coach Sunday Chidzambwa and his assistants are paying special to attention to Botswana with the hope they might face the improving Zebras in the quarter-finals of the 2018 COSAFA Cup.

The two teams met in April in a friendly match to celebrate Zimbabwe’s Independence Day and Botswana stunned Zimbabwe 1-0.

The Zebras are currently leading Group B with four points and could seal a quarter-final berth with a win over Mauritius today.

Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare told COSAFA.com that Chidzambwa and his assistants Lloyd Mutasa, Rahman Gumbo and Brenna Msiska were eager to face Botswana.

“Botswana have kept the same squad in place for a long time and we noticed that there are just one or two changes to the team that came to Harare and our coaches have been monitoring not only their matches but all the teams in Group B.

The Group B log shows that it’s going to be a tight competition again this year- but from our perspective it looks like Botswana are the favourites and we just have to be ready for them,” Mpandare said.

I Smoke Mbanje To Ease Anxiety,ZRP Cop Tells Magistrate

Holding Elections A Bridge Too Far For ED

Holding free elections is a bridge too far for ED – declared, illegitimate junta must accept 2008 reforms writes Wilbert Mukori.

Below is Mukori’s opinion piece regarding electoral reforms in Zimbabwe.

After seizing power in the military coup in November 2017, President Mnangagwa and his putsch junta promised to hold free, fair and credible elections.

Even they knew that the coup was an unconstitutional act and per se their regime was from the word go illegitimate and still is to this day.

The junta’s promise to hold free, fair and credible elections was, in itself, a tacit acknowledgement by the regime that it is illegitimate and a promissory undertaking to return to legality. There is a mountain of evidence to prove that President Mnangagwa and his junta are not going to deliver of their promise to hold free, fair and credible elections. It is the duty of every thinking Zimbabwean out there to make sure the junta delivers on this one promise and not allowed to get away with another rigged election, if it fails.

Zimbabwe is in a serious economic mess; unemployment has soared to dizzying heights of 90%; ¾ of our people are now living in abject poverty whilst the few, ruling elite, are filthy rich; basic services like health have all but completely collapsed, the ruling elite routinely travel to SA, Singapore, etc. for all their health needs; etc. The root cause of this mess is the country’s failure to hold free and fair elections.

The nation has been stuck with this incompetent, corrupt and murderous Zanu PF dictatorship for the last 38 years because the regime rigged elections to stay in power.

Our ticket out of this economic and political hell-on-earth that this de facto one-party, Zanu PF, dictatorship has landed us is holding free, fair and credible elections. This is why implementing the democratic reforms necessary for free and fair elections is Zimbabwe’s holy grail. Nothing of any substance can ever be accomplished until we exorcise the dictatorship devils, implement the reforms and hold free and fair elections.

The primary task of 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement the democratic reforms agreed in the Global Political Agreement and signed by Robert Mugabe, on behalf of Zanu PF, Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara, on behalf of the two MDC factions. President Thabo Mbeki of SA signed on behalf of SADC leaders, who were the guarantor of the agreement.

Throughout the five years of the GNU, SADC leaders nagged Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends to implement the reforms but were ignored at every turn. When it was clear to SADC leaders that, with no reforms in place, Zanu PF was set to rig the elections they made one more desperate bid to have the elections postponed.

“Of course, they (elections) can be postponed. In June 2013, before the elections, the Maputo Summit was all about having the elections postponed – the SADC summit. I went there.” Dr Ibbo Mandaza, director of SAPES Trust, told Violet Gonda in a detailed interview.

“I was there at the Summit and Mugabe pretended to agree to a postponement of the elections. If you recall, the postponement was based on the need to reform at least electoral laws.
“And after that Summit, Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, all of them were called to a separate meeting by the Heads of State of SADC in the absence of Mugabe, that same evening. And they were told; I was sitting there outside the room with Mac Maharaj; they were told, ‘If you go into elections next month, you are going to lose; the elections are done’.

“And we came back on a Sunday and that Monday we had a SAPES Policy Dialogue to discuss the Summit and lo and behold, whilst we were discussing it, the court papers arrived calling the MDC to court to show reason why the elections should be postponed. Mugabe had done a volte-face against the decision of the Summit. Mugabe went on TV and threatened to leave SADC – ‘who is SADC, we can leave SADC anyway’.

“And so, under some pretext of a court application by Jealousy Mawarire, which others claim was really a ZANU PF ploy, the elections were held.

“And 3 or 4 days before the election Morgan Tsvangirai was lamenting that he had evidence that the election was already rigged. But they were warned like they are being warned again now. But blindly, they cannot make any excuses now, they going into elections again.”

The staging of the November coup has put Zanu PF, now under the management of the coup plotters, under renewed pressure to hold free and fair elections. President Mnangagwa as Mugabe’s right-hand man; especially on such matters as vote rigging, political violence including intimidation and murder and looting to bankroll the party’s vote rigging schemes and shenanigans; knew what the democratic reforms agreed in the GPA were and, if he so wished, would have implemented them after the November coup. He did not.

Indeed, instead of implementing the reforms he has continued to dismiss those calling for reforms as barking.

“Zanu PF ichatonga! Igo tonga! Imi muchingovukura! Nokuvukura!” (Zanu PF will rule! And rule! Whilst you (calling for reforms) bark! And bark!) Was the first thing President Mnangagwa told his Zanu PF supporters after the coup, to reassure on his commitment to the party’s no-regime-change mantra. This was Mnangagwa’s favourite boast before the coup and he wanted everyone to know he had not changed.

Just as SADC leaders had predicted in 2013, this year’s elections too “are done”. There is no free public media, the voters’ roll is in a shambolic state, Zanu PF has unfettered access to public resources and to billions of dollars of looted public wealth to bankroll it vote rigging juggernaut, etc., etc.; these elections are not going to be free, fair and credible.

In their bid to regain their lost legitimacy, President Mnangagwa and his junta; extended the official invitation to observe the elections to many other nations and organisations including USA, EU, Commonwealth, etc. besides the usual ones SADC, AU, China, Russia, etc. The task of every thinking Zimbabwean is to make sure the international observers judge these elections honestly and truthfully.

The basic tenets for free, fair and credible elections; free media, verifiable voters, transparent party funding, etc.; are the same the world over. If these tenets are missing, then the observers must declare these elections null and void. That is all we are asking, and it is not too much to ask!

President Mnangagwa and his junta were never going to hold free and fair elections, risk losing power by giving up the party’s carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig elections; that was a bridge too far for these seasoned thugs!

By failing to keep its promise to hold free elections the junta has failed to redeem its illegitimacy following the November coup and opened a great opportunity to revisit the 2008 GPA reforms.

It is for us, the people of Zimbabwe, to demand that the illegitimate Zanu PF junta must step aside to allow the appointment of an interim administration that will be tasked to implement the 2008 GPA reforms, hold free elections and thus finally get this great nation out of this hell-hole!

We know that Zanu PF is rigging these elections, they “are done”, as SADC leaders aptly put in 2013. Our main task now is to make sure the whole charade is declared null and void so we can go back to implementing the reforms!

MP’ s Chauffeur Stabbed In Zanu PF Intraparty Violence

MDC Alliance To March To Mnangagwa

By Own Correspondent| The MDC Alliance will on June 5 2018, march to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s offices to demand for electoral reforms.

Speaking at a press conference at Morgan Tsvangirai House in Harare today (Friday), Tendai Biti who was standing in for the Alliance spokesperson Welshman Ncube said the protest was a peaceful demo which aimed at pushing President Mnangagwa to impliment electoral reforms ahead of the July 30 election.

“The MDC Alliance has thus resolved to mobilize its members in terms of
Section 59 of the Constitution to cause ZEC and the government to accede to our legitimate demands in the spirit of Constitutionalism, justice and most importantly, Zimbabwe.

The demonstration will take place on the 5th of June 2018,” Hon Tendai Biti, one of the Alliance Principal has said.

Hon Biti said that the people will march from the Africa Unity Square to the ZEC offices, then proceed to the Munhumutapa building and wind back to Africa Unity Square where they will be addressed by the Alliance leadership.

“Of concern to us is the absence of reforms to ensure a free, fair and credible election that will set the country on a sustainable path to recovery,” Hon Biti said

Among the issues highlighted in the MDC Alliance’s Peace document launched in March this year, the principals are demanding a clean voters’ roll in an analyzable and searchable format.

“We need a copy of the voter’s roll in its analyzable form,” he added.

Adding on, Hon Biti said there is an undeniable need for a voters’ roll audit by a credible audit firm in order to deal with all the fictitious and non-existent names that marred the previous election.

“We need an audit of the voters’ roll because the voter inspection
period between 19th and 29th of May had two processes.

There was a process of fresh registration of voters and a process of massive transfer of voters from one constituency to another. That means we need another inspection period before the election of 30 July.

“We need an external audit to do three things, establish the legitimacy of the people sitting in that voters’ roll.

The audit should establish the credibility of this voters roll vis a vis the 2013 voters’ roll. Our fear is that they have contaminated the 2018 voters’ roll with the corrupt voters’ roll that was used to steal the 2013 election.

Thirdly, we need the external audit to be married with the data in the Registrar general’s office, so that the register of birth and death must marry with the voters’ roll so that we do not have phantom voters in the voters’ roll,” he added.

The Alliance further highlighted that polling stations have been increased by 1 500.

“We are concerned about polling stations. ZEC has unilaterally increased polling stations to 11 500 from 10 000. This is illegitimate because when the voter registration exercise took place, it was polling station based.

When people went to register to vote, immediately a person was given a polling station from where they will cast their ballot on the 30th of July so to unilaterally establish more stations is detrimental to the voter and prejudicial to the system as it is opaque, its illegal and meant to frustrate the efforts for the holding of free, fair and credible elections in Zimbabwe,”

Is Mnangagwa A Typical Product Of Robert Mugabe School Of Politics?

Terrence Mawawa

By merely watching President Emmerson Mnangagwa’ s grand entry into Pfupajena Stadium today, one would have been compelled to believe that the country’s former leader, Robert Mugabe is still in charge.

In typical Mugabe style, Mnangagwa entered Pfupajena Stadium today.

There is no doubt that Mnangagwa is a product of Mugabe’s political orientation, according to analysts.

Surrounded by a team of men in dark glasses and members of the Presidential Guard, Mnangagwa and the First Lady Auxillia, disembarked from the back of a branded party vehicle after waving at the crowd in typical Mugabe style.

Mnangagwa himself who has never attacked Mugabe in public, opting to circumvent issues involving his former boss, has also literally admitted there is no love lost between the two strongmen.

In his speech Mnangagwa declared that the ruling party would romp to victory in the coming elections.

Military Junta Is Running Zimbabwe- Mohadi

Kembo-Mohadi

Terrence Mawawa

Vice President Kembo Mohadi has admitted the military junta is totally in control of political affairs in the country.

Speaking at a Zanu PF star rally at Pfupajena Stadium in Chegutu today Mohadi said Zimbabweans should not be amused by the government structure running the country.

“We hear a lot of names out there but that will not bother us.

Some people say the military junta is running the country and that is very correct.

We are all trained and it is our time to rule so you have to understand how the government is operating,” said Mohadi.

“Everyone knows that we are trained soldiers- yes that is very correct and we cannot deny it,” added Mohadi.

MDC-T “Bhora Musango” Coalition Candidate

Settlement Chikwinya

MDC Alliance coalition big brother partner the MDC-T members have openly called for the rejection of the Mbizo constituency, candidate who is seconded into the constituency by Alliance partner the PDP led by Tendai Biti.

The MDC-T structures are reportedly opposed to having the seat allocated to the PDP parliamentary candidate, Settlement Chikwinya.

MDC-T supporters are resisting Chikwinya’s candidature, and have been circulating fliers in the constituency calling on the electorate not to vote for the MDC Alliance candidate before the issue has been addressed by the alliance leaders.

“Chikwinya is the enemy of Mbizo. You sold out Zimasco workers. You betrayed MDC and donated the seat to Zanu PF. You want to impose yourself on Mbizo. Mbizo structures will never vote for you,” read some of the fliers being circulated in the city.

The fliers carry an MDC-T logo.

Chikwinya, however, claimed the smear campaign was being funded by other forces outside the MDC Alliance.

“These things are not coming from within the MDC Alliance. External forces are pushing this agenda because they know I am the strongest candidate in the race to win the Mbizo seat and I am being targeted so that the Zanu PF candidate can capitalise,” he said.

MDC-T council candidate, Morison Chinwada said he supported Chikwinya’s candidature.

“We are guided by our leadership and our president Nelson Chamisa, taking vision from the late leader Morgan Tsvangirai is committed to respect the alliance pack, so will we,” he said.

Contacted for comment, MDC-T national chairman, Morgan Komichi said: “I am working 24/7 because our members feel strongly that we should field candidates in all constituencies and we are mindful that if we were to have primary elections in all constituencies our alliance partners will not get a single seat. But we have to provide leadership and make sure the agreement is respected.”

Newsday

Mnangagwa To Repossess Mugabe’s Farms

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has spoken for the first time on plans to take back farms from owners of multiple properties.

The revelations come after the Ministry Of Lands And Agriculture pointed directly at former President Robert Mugabe’s properties.

In January, officials in Gen Perrance Shiri’s office told a publication, “Minister Shiri has ordered, through our directors, that we compile a full list of the former First Family’s farms and we are already doing it.”

This time Mnangagwa yesterday confirmed the development although without mentioning Mugabe’s name.

The President told over 40 000 youths at a convention in Mkoba that his government is repossessing land from multiple farm owners and will soon redistribute it to the youths and other Zimbabweans yearning to venture into farming.

Mnangagwa said Government was also downsizing farms to benefit those who did not have land.

“There is a land audit committee underway,” said President Mnangagwa.

“The committee is discovering that there are people with more than one farm and we are taking those farms and leave you with one. We have also discovered that some farms are very big farms exceeding what is recommended depending on the region. We are downsizing those farms and you have requested that when we redistribute, we must think about the youths,” he said.

“That message is very clear. We do not want one individual to disadvantage others. We want fairness in the distribution of land. On that request we take it on board by making sure that the land we are getting back as a result of people with many farms we are going to take, some we have already repossessed, and some of that we are going to downsize, we will give our people.” – state media/additional reporting

LIVE PICTURES: Mnangagwa Chegutu Rally

State Media – Government has opened floodgates of economic opportunities to empower youths in all sectors as President Mnangagwa’s administration intensifies efforts to reconstruct the economy towards a middle-income country by 2030. If fully seized upon, the opportunities can significantly reduce the rate of unemployment among youths.

President Mnangagwa told a youth convention organised by the Zanu-PF Youth League here that young people should grab these opportunities with both hands to transform their lives.

He said young people were the future leaders and it was incumbent upon the Government of the day to lay the foundation for their lives. President Mnangagwa said Government now prioritised business and economics.

He said in the past five months, his administration secured US$16 billion in investment commitments some of which were already being implemented. “The youths are the future,” said President Mnangagwa.

“If you are the future, you must be empowered now for you to be good leaders tomorrow because you have been empowered at the correct age. You should not remain poverty stricken when you are young because when you come our age you will not value the young who come after you. But if we empower you, you shall have the same benevolence to empower the youths who will come after you,” the President said.

“You have talked about the Empowerment Bank. We have given it US$12 million from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe so that you can access funds for whatever project you want to do,” he said.

“It is important that as young people you do projects as groups and start small. We have put aside funds to support you. If you are focused in no time you become middle companies. These are the things that you must take advantage of because we have put aside funds for such purposes,” he said.

“In mining sector, we have said there are funds but the minister thinks that you must congregate as groups so that we can give you machinery.” President Mnangagwa also urged youths to venture into agriculture.

“There is now a programme for livestock. There is now a programme for fisheries. In the livestock sector, we have given them some money so the youths can also come together and approach Government and say we want to do our livestock project either breeding or cattle fattening,” said the Head of State.

“Come forward as groups and be supported. Those who want to do poultry, goats, or sheep, all these things are wanted in the Middle East. The point is as long as you have a piece of land come forward, there are funds for that. If you want to do fish (project) Mai (Oppah) Muchinguri-Kashiri will give you free fish and you create your own ponds. In six months or less they will have grown and you start to sell and all those projects are suitable for young people who are willing to do business on their own,” he said.

The President also urged the youths to consider venturing into industry and commerce. “You can also go into industry and commerce. Again, Government has created windows for you where you can access money.”

He said his administration was a listening Government that focused on addressing the concerns of the people. “Under the new dispensation, we have brought back the party to move forward following the correct line of the revolution.

“What is the correct line of the revolution? The correct line of the revolution is where the revolutionary party continues going to the people, continues to listen to the people, continues to address the challenges and concerns of the people and this is what we are doing,” he said.

“We are here to receive your challenges and we are here as your Government; we must address your challenges. We must address the challenges that you face. The new dispensation is back on rail and the Government itself is now on rail because it must address the needs of the people. It must address issues of the economy and it must fight corruption day and night,” he stressed.

LIVE – Chamisa Holding Mass Protest Tuesday

“The MDC Alliance will on the 5th of June 2018 hold a peaceful demonstration in Harare. This demonstration will be over the failure by the government and @ZECzim to implement key electoral reforms. Zimbabweans must come in their numbers. ”
